I’m from Victoria Australia and lived in Brisbane for three years. Then I flew out from Melbourne to Vancouver and now I’m currently in Whistler. I’ve been here about a week. When I arrived, I had my orientation at Global Work and Travel and was in constant contact with Chrissy. She was the lady looking after me, making sure I have got a job and helped me out with any questions I needed to know, and it’s definitely helped me get here and get everything organized. I’m currently staying at a friend’s house with my partner and had my third shift of work which I’m really enjoying. At the moment I’m waiting on my list pass, I’ve got to go take that out tomorrow then I’ll be snowboarding as well as working and that’s pretty much as far as my daily life goes. Being here in general is awesome, I'm loving it and I’ve met a lot of cool people. It’s what I wanted, so I’m really happy with it.
Hey Jordan, that's awesome! Thanks for the feedback, and keep enjoying the beautiful Whistler! Kind regards, The Global Work & Travel Co. Feedback Team

About a year ago, I saw a little ad on Facebook. I've always been keen on snowboarding, so I put my phone number, e-mail and name down, and Global called me the next morning. I was a bit hesitant at the start, but I then asked for all the paperwork and read through them and it seemed legit. So I put the deposit down and then we began organizing my visa. I had 12 months to organize everything and in about six months in, I had everything organized. Everything was easy up until then.
One problem I had, however, was with my visa, which was a little fine detail they missed out on. When it came to booking my flights, I made sure I had everything, but it turned out I didn't have my letter of entry approved yet. So, there's a bit of miscommunication between me and my agent. I didn't have to go yet, but I let them know of it as I didn't want to get to Vancouver and get sent back. Eventually, we were able to sort it out overnight and had to re-arrange my flights.
Another little hiccup was when I arrived at the airport. I didn't have a phone and I couldn't call anyone, so I had to work out how to use a payphone to contact my agent. I didn't know that there will be a shuttle service taking me to my hostel as she forgot to e-mail the coupon to me. She then emailed it, and then I jumped in the shuttle. I got to my hostel and everything was sweet about it. I paid the five nights in Vancouver, which was fine. I then jumped on the Greyhound and arrived in Fernie at 2am. I didn't know that the hostel that I'm staying there will be closed. Luckily, some people that I let share the cab with me let me crash on their couch. Nevertheless, it all worked out in the end. Since then, I had two weeks off. This week, I spent Monday to Wednesday working. Since I've started working, it's been crazy, and I can't complain. The Global team is fine and I'm pretty happy with it.
Hi Shaun, thank you for providing us with detailed feedback! We always aim to organise the best experience possible for all our travellers, and we want to be there 24/7 so that whenever there's any worries we can help out, so you can focus on getting the most out of your trip! I traveled from Australia to Banff, Alberta through The Global Work & Travel Co. because I got interested in the snowy landscape. I arrived a bit earlier, so I changed, started working and then snowboarding. Since participating in the program, I've had a new outlook on different countries and new idea on how people live in a colder climate. I really enjoyed the whole experience.

I traveled to Hemlock Valley Ski Resort in BC. I had a problem as one of the travel people booked me the wrong flights. I had to fix it and I'm still waiting on a refund. But other than that, it's been fine. The lady that dealt with me the most time was very helpful. It's an easy and fun experience overall. The mountain opens tomorrow so we've been training every day and hanging out with some of the snowshoeing trekkers.
Hi Grace, thank you for the feedback! Our team will follow up in regards to your flights as well. Best regards, The Global Work & Travel Co. Feedback Team

The Global Work & Travel Co. was satisfying and helpful. I'm from Adelaide, Australia and I traveled to Calgary, Canada. I signed up for a two-year program and it was pretty easy going. There was a while where I didn’t hear from them but I've got a job now and I'm really happy. Christy, who was my Canada liaison, is really helpful wherever she could be. However, it was a lot of money for just what it is. They're really helpful but there's nothing in it that they did that I couldn't have worked out myself. But now that I've signed up, I believe I can get other jobs through them. But in hindsight, I probably wouldn't do the program again nor recommend to anyone else.

I am writing this complaint as I am severely out of pocket, highly disappointed and infuriated with the service I have received from Global Work and Travel (GWAT). I have had to leave Australia to go home much earlier than I anticipated. GWAT have put me in a worse off situation than when I arrived. I should never have used this horrendous company and I will never recommend them to anyone. My aim is to not only get a full refund but also compensation for wasting my time, money, failure to comply with the Goods and Services Act 1982 and for breaching many terms in their supposed service. I want to prevent any other travellers from using this horrendous company.
I have no problem in the company keeping money for the week accommodation at the Islander Hostel and the bus transfer from the airport to the hotel. These I had no problems with and were everything I expected. The staff at the Hostel were friendly and courteous. I have inquired on price and it was $32 per bed per night in the month of July 2015 (Tana@ Reception of the Islander Hotel, 6 Beach Road, Surfers Paradise, QLD) = $224 and the bus transfer from Con-x-ion Shuttles Company is $49 = $273 = £131.11 in total (according to current exchange rates). The mobile phone they gave me in the Orientation did not work for the first week or so.
I had problems with its charger and could not charge my phone. When it eventually charged, every time I tried to speak with anyone on it, the phone would cut out. I checked the credit status of the phone and it was in credit. I discovered the only reason why it cut out so frequently was simply because the phone was a cheap and useless phone. I researched the price of the mobile and to no surprise it was only $49 = £23.53!!! So in total they had spent £154.64 out of the £995 I had been pressured into paying before I departed. I then started to question - where did my money go? Where did the remaining £840.36 get spent on? I understand that there may have been admin/business overheads but surely not to that expense?
I paid £995 for the Get It All package, under the written and verbal impression given by sales agents, travel coordinators and pre/post departure agents, that I will be offered MANY benefits included a guaranteed unlimited amount of guaranteed job opportunities. The benefit of having unlimited amount of job opportunities was the sole reason why I chose this package - I thought I would always be secure in a job offered by GWAT (and their contacts/network) and this made me feel that the huge upfront price was more acceptable. I understand that they are a business and need to make money. I only realised later how much money they were scamming us new travellers for!!!
Initially, Rebecca called me and was very friendly and upbeat which excited me into the programme. I didn't respond for a few weeks due to my grandfather passing away and so I was emailed twice with the threat of I've been unable to reach you so I will, unfortunately, have to deactivate your file if I do not receive a response in the next 24 hours to make room for our more serious applicants. This made me feel as if the spaces were limited and I was up against other potential candidates for something I had to pay for. As a sales person myself, I understand certain tactics can be used so I let this slide. However, the pushiness got worse I let Rebecca know I was interested and the very next day I was asked to pay the deposit of £295. Obviously this is a big financial commitment to make in itself straight away after speaking with someone via telephone for an hour or so!!!
I was sent this the day after as I couldn't pay straight away! Unfortunately, I can't keep your profile on hold anymore as you weren't able to put down your deposit yesterday to secure your placement. As you are wanting to go this July we do need your deposit down ASAP as by the end of the week you will be looking at going in August. I felt as if I was being forced into this working holiday and I even made Rebecca aware of how I felt.. The language used in the email was aggressive and unnecessary. I was getting very skeptical and concerned at this point.
This was my first time travelling completely on my own and I felt I was being pushed into making a decision. The way they lure you in is very, very sneaky, sly and manipulative. Rebecca had painted such a wondrous picture of what adventure could be had, that I felt forced to transfer the funds immediately. I had to borrow the money from my mother in order for me to secure my dream working holiday. Rebecca was very insistent and pushy to get the money. I had made Rebecca aware of my concern via email and that I felt pressured into paying- it was no longer something that I looked forward to.
After I had paid my deposit I was still being chased for the remainder. I then informed Rebecca that I could only pay for the remainder when I got paid from work which was on 29th May 2015. This was agreed, but I would have to wait up to 2 weeks of arriving for the right job placement as I was making a late payment. I had no problem with this. I paid 700 a few days earlier than agreed on 27th May 2015. From the email requests of lengthy cvs/application form filings and by speaking with Rebecca, I really believed they were finding me the most suitable job according to my background. After all, they claimed to have over 1200+partners and 20,000 satisfied customers, so of course with this kind of sized network, they would find me a job.
At this point, I felt that a 1-2 week wait for a suitable job was worth the wait. But again this was all part of their sneaky sales tactics. I got excited when I got sent a link to My Account and the Global Job Board thinking that this is the beginning of the opportunities that lay ahead. Unfortunately, it was just a link to an external job recruiter who had nothing to do with GWAT. I just thought this may be a glitch and still kept my hopes up for what my money was paying for. They were so persistent in getting the cv filled in correctly and getting as much information from me in terms of my experience that I genuinely believed they would be working hard to search for the most suitable job that would be available for me. I was made aware that the job opportunities may be at entry level in my chosen fields which was events, promotions, sales, retail and I didn't mind a little bar work.
I had no issue with working from entry level up (I'm used to that culture from working in sales for over 7 years), however I explicitly stated that I would not accept or be happy working with food and face to face sales. I have little to no experience with food and I really do not enjoy face to face/ field sales. Those were my only two restrictions with seeking a job and what a surprise these were my only two opportunities that I was offered. One was a food and beverage assistant in Gold Coast via email and the other as a face to face fundraiser which was verbally offered. I refused both as both were completely irrelevant to me. As I understood, I had guaranteed unlimited Job Opportunities and since I had paid such an extortionate amount towards this service, I expected at least something of relevance. (Please read below under BENEFITS? for a more detailed account of the job offers).
During the email exchanges prior to departure, they had offered me a discounted rate on their travel insurance. This was again an extortionately priced offer of roughly around £1800 for 6 months!!! This was wildly beyond what I had anticipated as a discount. I refused their ridiculously priced insurance and began to research my own. I quickly found another company called DU Insure.com / Downunder Insurance and paid £107.62 for their Comprehensive Cover of 6 months. This covered everything that I needed including cover for my epileptic condition and any adversities that may occur. This signaled to me that GWAT is just a money making scheme.
Again, I felt I was on an emotional rollercoaster- torn between an adventure and shelling out cash for me to make my dream into reality. This company sets out to make money at any time. They even state to take extra cash for the duration of your stay in Australia It is also important that you are financed sufficiently for the length of your stay Although you will be working, you should have some backup funds. I now understand why they want you to be financed sufficiently during the stay. They have no intention of giving you unlimited amounts of relevant job opportunities. They will dismiss your lengthy cv and placement forms only to fob you off with the very limited amount of irrelevant connections they actually have. Their main aim is to get your money and then leave you to your own devices.
I flew out to Melbourne a few days after my orientation and then I heard absolutely nothing from GWAT for a month. Just when I had given up hope on GWAT, I received an email from them asking how my trip was going and that they had tried to contact me which was not true at all. I had received no contact from the company whatsoever. I responded to inform them that I was upset with their service and worried that I had not received job opportunities from them. They then responded with the claim that they had been trying to get in touch with me when I had received no emails/ calls/ contact previous to this. I had given up on their lies and decided to focus on getting a job and not waste any more of my time on their scandalous ways.
I eventually had to leave Australia due to being in such dire circumstances of having no money left and no job! I was very disheartened and disappointed to the point of becoming depressed all because of GWATs lack of customer service and fulfillment on their said guaranteed service. I then arrived back home and started speaking with other travellers who had a very similar experience with GWAT. They had also paid the full amount of £995 for the Get It All Package and was left with nothing but stress, anger and debt. (I have included their stories in this email.)
I genuinely believed I was the only one who had maybe had a bit of bad luck with this company but as I delved further into researching the company I found a vast array of stories, reviews, newspaper articles and even youtube videos that proved this company was a money making ploy with no intention of offering a good, valuable service to its customers. (Please see the attached links page for all of the sources.) I have listed below detailed personal accounts disproving their falsely advertised benefits which lure the traveller in and leave them with nothing.
BENEFITS? Visa assistance, bank card set up, tax file number, mail and luggage storage. In the initial email exchanges, I was under the impression that GWAT would give me lots of information in regards to acquiring the Visa. They simply sent me a link - a link that I already were fully in the knowledge of. I applied for my Visa using my own research. They did set up my Tax File Number and I had no issues with this whatsoever. So I was happy with this. The bank card was a mystery to me - I applied for it myself and wanted it to be delivered to the GWAT HQ in QLD. However, they never sent me my bank card. I called and emailed a few times to see where my card had got to and heard no response back. I was eventually told by a member at GWAT that I had some post and so my thoughts were to let my landlord know that I could pay her via transfer from my new bank account.
Unfortunately, due to the sheer incompetence of the staff, they had actually got it wrong and it was not my bank card- it was just my tax file number which I already had!! So I had to inform my landlord of this and she was not happy. They then wanted me to pay upfront $800 to give them some security as I had no bank card. If GWAT had stuck to their word of being a mailing address for me and had actually got their information correct I would not have been in this adverse situation. My landlord wanted the money upfront and as I clearly could not rely on GWATs extortionately useless service, I was then asked to vacate the flat. I was even more stressed out. I already had the issue of looking for my own work and then I had the search of a home to contend with.
To have a guaranteed unlimited amount of guaranteed job opportunities - I was given a single opportunity as a food and beverage assistant in Gold Coast. This was not relevant to me in terms of location or experience. I was infuriated by this suggestion especially after I had specifically stated I only wanted to work in office based sales, admin, retail, promotions or events in Melbourne. I even confirmed this via email that I had already found my apartment in Melbourne CBD and so I needed to be in a job that was at least within the same state. I didn't understand why the lengthy process of application forms, CVs and job profiles was needed if I would be placed into a job of complete irrelevance!!
This was a pointless exercise to make you as a traveller believe that they will be working hard to find you a job, when in actual fact.. they take your money and splash out on their lavish headquarters in Queensland. They do not have clients that they work closely with. I was in actual shock when I spoke to the lady who conducted the Orientation and One to One. She actually said plain and clear that they did not have any connections or jobs available for me, Melbourne. I specifically requested a job in Melbourne months before arriving!!! I do not understand how a company with 1200+ Partner Organisations does not have a single relevant connection in Melbourne.
They wanted me to serve food and beverages in which I have no experience in! If I have paid £995 surely they can find the resources and staff to find me a job? At this point, I realised I had completely wasted my money!! I was infuriated and my heart sank. This was all a SCAM! They then later announced they had suddenly found a job in Melbourne fundraising face to face!!! AGAIN. This was not acceptable. I had specifically stated that these were the only two types of jobs I would not be happy working in. The only two!! Out of hundreds and thousands of possible vacancies that were available in Melbourne.. these were the only two that a industry leader could offer??!! I was outraged!
I then decided that this company was useless. They just made my life much more difficult instead of taking away any stress or fears. If GWAT had actually delivered on what they had guaranteed and promised, I would not have been so stressed out during this time. My money was running out.. and I had to find a job on my own accord. I found a few jobs that were office based and in Melbourne CBD and so I applied and got a job. I didn't understand why GWAT had such an issue in finding me a relevant job especially since I could find one that suited my criteria?
I was very happy in my job and unfortunately the work had then run out and so I was back on the job hunt. I was then unable to pay for my rent as I had no job and had to move into a hostel. I got a job working at the hostel as part of their promotions team and in exchange for work I was given free accommodation and a few meals. I was under immense stress and became depressed to the point of me having to leave Australia and come back home. However, if GWAT actually remained consistent and offered the services of supplying unlimited job opportunities then I would never have been in this position. They did nothing but give me stress and leave me broke!!
Free bar, wildlife and jet ski tours - I was under the impression that GWAT would be offering a few free tours and I wrote that this had been guaranteed to me in the application form. I later found out at the Orientation that I could choose one of the tours and this would be at a discounted rate. I had already met people earlier on in the week who worked for this tour company and they offered me free entry and other added bonuses. So there was no point of using GWAT. Their extra benefits were completely bogus and they knew it. I did not go on their tour as I sure as hell was not going to pay a single penny more to GWAT for a discounted tour when I was initially promised 3 tours included in the price. Another falsely advertised failure in their overpriced service.
To further prove that this company is nothing but a scam. I have contacted other customers and found they had very similar experiences and lost lots of money too. We all feel that they played on our desires and emotions to gain a new adventure and then delivered nothing. It is disgusting!!! We would all like a refund and compensation for putting us in a worse off position. Furthermore and more importantly, we want to prevent any other travellers from being scammed!! Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm from Brisbane, Australia and I traveled to Calgary in Canada through Global Work & Travel Working Holiday program. They made me feel comfortable during the orientation. They also helped me get settled. They found me a job so I have a bank account, phone number and a lot of important stuff. Right now because the job I got didn't have staff accommodation, I have to find a place to live. I'm in a hostel and just traveling to work and chilling around on my days off. They've been very helpful except for one from the Surfers Paradise office, who was rude and horrible. In general, I am satisfied. I would recommend them to other people but not to friends because it's too expensive.

I traveled to Canada from Australia. It's something out of my comfort zone and completely a different experience, changing my lifestyle and the way I approach what I wanted to do in life. All my friends and family are around my age, so interacting with people ten years younger than me during the program has been worthwhile and very beneficial. We share goals, ideas and interests. I'd been closed off from friends and family for the last two years so it's good to open up again with other people which has made me more confident. There have been hiccups along the way but I would still recommend The Global Work & Travel Co. because everybody has been helpful. They're all fantastic. It's been four weeks and I did early on most of the activities so now, I'm just relaxing for the last two weeks.

I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I traveled to Vancouver in BC, Canada. I’ve always wanted to go to Canada to see the northern lights, dog sled, snowboard. That’s what brought me to The Global Work & Travel Co. The program I bought was the all-inclusive one. It was like the working holiday. I’m doing room attending at the moment for the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel. I’ve got that job pretty much straight out, really quick, there was no fuss, and no mucking around. Christy was helping me through my entire time. She was an absolute gem. She set me up with all that, going from one place to the other, and getting the job, which was really easy. Everything fell into place. I didn’t have to do anything. I’ve only been here for nearly two weeks and it’s easy to meet people. I didn’t have any drama or anything. She’s always very helpful and good.

I'm from Brisbane, Australia and traveled to Banff, Canada through The Global Work's Get It All program. I got a job on a mountain and did a bit of skiing and snowboarding with my workmates Scott and Daisy. We've gone to see a lot including the Rockies before it started snowing, which is really nice. I did a few hikes up here in the mountains in Vancouver and it's beautiful to see.
I'm happy with what I've paid for. I feel like I've got my money's worth. The staff at The Global Work was good. They are sometimes quick to respond and informative. I only emailed them beforehand on the program and when we got to Vancouver, the orientation was well done. They definitely followed through on what we're promised. They got us to travel quickly. I just feel that there were a lot of jobs available and the harder part was finding accommodation with the job. But I'm happy with the overall experience that they've delivered.

I'm from Australia and I purchased the working holiday to Canada. They're helpful from the beginning and good at communicating back-and-forth with my new job. The set-up in Vancouver was awesome. When I arrived there they already organized a car to come and pick me up and then I went straight to the hostel, which was included in the price and they put me up there for five nights. In that time I could explore Vancouver and they gave me helpful tips like where to get your hair done. They went through everything on orientation day and helped me find accommodation. I've made a lot of new friends. Learning to live overseas, that's challenging at times but I've always got my mentor that I can talk to if I need to and she's good. Their program is structured. I bought the Get It All package for the working holiday and it was good. In the program that I signed up to, the program coordinators line me up with interviews to jobs over here in Jasper, Alberta, which is good. Also it included means like airport transfer, five nights accommodation in Vancouver when I landed. They help you set up your bank account and your tax identification number. They helped you out with mobile phone, day-to-day life here. I'm just working as a bartender. But that's pretty fun and that's good.
I figured out that life here is very different to back home. The cold is probably the biggest thing. Relative with the program itself, I think it was good having a home base to help getting me off and running when I got here. The people from Global Work and Travel Company are amazing to work with and they're quick to respond to any kind of issue I had. And I am loving life here because of the experience.

I travelled from UK to Canada, Vancouver. I was interested in working abroad and traveling so I participated in the working visa. It was the thousand-pound program, the most expensive one. I've only been here for three weeks, so at the moment, I just mainly worked and Ive done a bit of traveling around Alberta. Global Work & Travel Company have been really informative. Any queries I had, they answer quite quickly. It was a new experience meeting new people, just gaining confidence outside of England. Really helpful, they made getting the Canadian visa a lot easier than me doing on my own.

I'm from Australia and I traveled to Canada. I availed of the working holiday program. I was having trouble with my Visa so I needed help so that's probably one of the greatest reasons which got my interest to join them. Whenever I had questions, I just called them up or emailed them and then they'd get back to me. I got a few job interviews, but then when I got to Canada I didn't really want anything to do with Calgary, I really didn't want to go there. It was kind of a last minute. I was already in Vancouver, had the orientation and then I was like, "Oh, Im just going to try it out." They've always check on me if I had any queries. They would even help you get your phone and numbers and had it all organized for you to go. Going with The Global Work is the best decision I made.

The Global Work & Travel Company advertised the program as one would only need to set up in a country, and they would seek out the jobs, visas, etc. We got the whole working holiday program which was their most expensive package. It’s pure laziness on my part but I liked the ease of getting a job here in Canada. At first they were phoning and sending us emails. Then, when we got to Canada from England, we went to their office and met The Global Work & Travel Company team. It was all very good. We told them the things we wanted to do and they organized themselves around that. The structure of the program was what we wanted so it was fair.
They’re also good at communicating. However, as soon as they got the money, the communication dropped a little. I suppose the actual team that sought out the Canada arrivals is a bit busier than the team that’s trying to get money off the program. Other than that, it was pretty satisfactory. They were organized and friendly.

I'm from Albany, Western Australia and traveled to Banff, Canada. The Global Work & Travel Co. got me the first job and they try to look for accommodation and help get insurance number and a bank card, and set up. Going to Canada was great. I don't know that they helped a lot because a lot of the stuff could have been easily done. It was because I was moving countries so I wanted the security. I didn't know how easy it would be to get housing or jobs but where I am, it's easy and I like it. I definitely didn't need Global because I did my own flight insurance anyway. I had to pay a fee to them because I didn't use the flight insurance but it was still cheaper. Some people were very helpful and there were others who weren't helpful at all. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends.

It has taken me about two years to write this review - partly because I wanted to forget about this awful company. I used Global Work and Travel Co. to gain placement as a volunteer in Cambodia so I cannot speak about their effectiveness as a work agency. Luckily my four months in Cambodia were amazing but it had nothing whatsoever to do with this ineffective company who honestly gave me so many sleepless and stressful nights. They were so super helpful before I handed any money over and then as soon as money was exchanged all contact pretty much ceased. Emails and questions would go unanswered or replied to shoddily.
After paying to volunteer (this did include accommodation and food) I was told I had to book flights and insurance through them also. It was about four times the price of flights I was finding myself online! I flat out refused to purchase the flights and had to pay a fee for this (250NZD). This fee had been halved because I accepted their insurance deal which was exorbitant. I am no longer dealing with one person and am told by someone that I can sort my visa out in Phnom Penh when I arrive. Do not worry about doing it, before I am explicitly told via email. I arrive in Phnom Penh expecting to see Global Work and Travel as this is the impression they give you. No, I am greeted by someone from Star Kampuchea who is the locally run organisation in charge of everything. I cannot speak highly enough of the people who work here! They are immediately horrified to learn I have no visa.
I find out that I have to LEAVE Cambodia and re-enter again to get my work visa. So ultimately a company that purports to help with every step of the process encouraged me to enter the country without a visa. I then have to leave Cambodia - luckily this was a really nice trip away and I made sure to make them pay for the whole ordeal. Honestly I only managed this because I was on their case about their ineptitude with constant emails. To their credit Rachel (not sure if she still works there) was understanding. She tried to weasel them out of responsibility at first but after a week or so she began to see where I was coming from and worked with me rather than against. My work placement at CCIM was really enjoyable - I had to have a media related degree to work at this independent news outlet, which was what initially attracted me to Global Work and Travel Co. BUT I could have done all of this without GWT!
I am only really posting this review as a warning, one that I wish I could have seen a couple of years ago, one that would have eliminated a middleman who only complicated matters! Please if you are reading this and looking to volunteer in Phnom Penh, Star Kampuchea is an excellent organisation (from my experience in 2013) run by local people. Their costs seem to work out so that they are essentially just charging you for room and board and they are super helpful. When my best friend's phone and wallet were stolen they took us to all the different police stations that we had to go through without asking for so much as a cent. We would have never gained the necessary paperwork for her insurance claim without them!

I would never advise anyone to use this company, ever. I originally booked a working holiday trip to Canada, paid over $5000 for them to organise and assist me in finding a job. 3 weeks before I was due to leave, I got a back injury and had to postpone my trip. I originally postponed as I thought I would still be able to go at a later date. I then found out that the injury was so bad that I had to have surgery at which point I then tried to cancel with Global. Global absolutely refused to give me any money back and when I tried to claim it on insurance, I found I had no policy set up which I had paid them to do when first booking my trip.
I then investigated further and discovered that global hadn't even booked me any flights! They claimed I couldn't get a refund due to admin costs when they hadn't even booked my flights or travel insurance 3 weeks from my departure date. After 2 years of constantly struggling/corresponding with this company, I managed to get a small refund but definitely not what I should have received. I also currently have a claim against them through the office of Fair Trading as they are being investigated.

We traveled to Québec Canada using The Global Work & Travel Network and got a two-year work visa. Jen, from the Canadian office, took the majority of our stuff and found us the jobs. It's right up our alley, what we’re after. When we got here, Samantha was our next point of call. She was the one that took us to the banks. She did her job perfectly. We only had three days because the employers wanted us to start working as soon as possible, so they got everything jam-packed down into those days.
Then we had all our employers organized, but we’ve actually found one who would take us for the two years flat, so we stayed in one place. They got 320 acres, like a big farm and did a lot of glamping on the weekends and during the week. So we've got log cabins and they come out to go camping. They had general cleaning and everything like customer service. For what they've done for us, it's been great and would highly recommend them to everybody.

Global Working Holiday & Travel Co. is a disgrace for a company. They have taken $2000 off me and have not helped me one bit in finding a job or assistance with my visa. They wouldn't stop calling me to get my money and once they received it their customer service levels dropped enormously and didn't want to help me until I paid another fee which was an outrageous amount for a one way ticket to Canada and insurance $4700!!! This company is refusing to give my money back or downgrade my package which is absurd since they have not provided me with hardly any assistance and was not upfront about what their company does and does not help me with.
I urge anyone who is thinking about using this company to definitely NOT and go with a company that my friend went through called "The working holiday club" which he said was a great experience. There was a little confusion with some information I was given mid way through the process, but by the time I was matched with my rep in Aussie I was "sweet-as" as the Kiwis say! I didn't finish the Au Pair Programme, as it wasn't something I was suited for. But if you're good with kids, and don't mind feeling like you're the big sister of a family then it could be for you. Would never use this company again and will continue to convince like minded friends out of going with them. I paid $1500 for a package to assist with finding a job while overseas. I later found out that they cannot actually charge for finding employment and that the $1500 fee was for the extras like 3 nights hostel accommodation, assistance with tax refund, airport transfer, etc. When I was enquiring about the product, I was told many people had already used the program in Italy only to find out I was one of the first. When I was doing my application I was told I had to take their flights or organise flights of my own within 2 days (a little difficult to organise flights to go overseas when you don't know when you would be starting work). I enquired how much flights would be to Europe and they said it would cost just over $1900 for my one way ticket.
Obviously as a previous traveller I went to a travel agent instead considering I could purchase a return ticket for only $1500. I purchased my flights and then underwent their incredibly lengthy process. I'm glad that I started 5 months before I was going to be leaving as they didn't start looking for a position for me until the last 3 weeks. Instead I had to provide lots of documents and pay for police checks, first aid certificates, references, etc. and also my visa. Despite the claim that they assist with getting your visa, they don't. I went to the consulate and they asked the address I would be going to in Italy. I obviously could not provide this as I hadn't been found a position yet. This made it difficult to get my visa, however they approved it. I contacted GWTC where I was asked on how much money I had to have as they didn't even know how much to advise their clients for the minimum amount required by visa regulations.
After 4 months they now started to look for a position for me. The first that they offered me did not suit me nor their regulations that I would have my own room and not share with the child. The second family I was offered I accepted as I only had 2 weeks before I was flying out and didn't have time to figure out if they were right for me or not. I arrived in Italy and was greeted by the family. They were very nice but I was also treated like a slave for my 9 month experience with them. When I arrived in Italy I had to finalise some documents for my visa and was not helped at all by GWTC or the family I was now living with. It was very difficult as I did not speak the language and Italian procedures are all over the place. I was told 3 separate times to use the post office and 3 times to use the head police station. No one could tell me where I needed to go and eventually ended in the fetal position crying and wanting to go home.
I managed to figure out what I had to do but had submitted my documents late which was surprisingly ok with Italian authorities. I messaged GWTC to order my 3 nights hostel accommodation and was advised they could not complete this as I had not given 3 weeks notice but was not advised of this before. Later I messaged with 3.5 weeks notice and was later instructed that they now required 4 weeks notice. I asked if I could use my airport transfer to be advised that this was actually the family that had collected me. I had been given a $100 travel voucher to use as I had joined during a promotion. I never received my travel voucher as I was now advised that I could only use this on future programs with them or on my return flights.
Obviously I wasn't going to pay $1900 to return either so I forgot about it. There is no tax return assistance as you are paid in cash and therefore don't require to do one. They advertise a lot of things that they don't actually offer. I was registered with an Italian agency whilst overseas later to find out that it only cost another girl 200 euros. So essentially I paid $1500 and got absolutely nothing out of it and then later found out about ** which is an online website free of charge where you can speak directly with the families and organise your own conditions. I would never recommend this company to someone. Overall I am happy about my experience overseas and it has definitely helped me grow but I do not feel like GTWC has contributed in my experience overseas and wish I had just done it by myself and looked for a job rather than being scared of potentially overseas and not having anything.

Global Work and Travel has allowed me to enjoy myself while on my working holiday and not have to worry about how I am going to support myself.
After two weeks in Australia I was completely set up with a mobile phone, bank account, job and apartment. They message you a lot to make sure that everything’s on track even before you leave, and then when you get here, you meet them the day after and they run you through everything Canada and what to expect. They keep tracking up on you, which is good. I’ve been here for 2 weeks, and I’ve gained life experiences such as meeting a whole lot of different people from all over the world who have the same interests as me, and learning to live by myself and budgeting a whole lot more from participating in this program.

I contacted Global because I wanted to live overseas for a short stint of 6 months. They have been amazing in supporting me. I am living in Tofino which is the suburb I requested for. I am working in a 5 star hotel Full Time with great hours of 9-4 so I have plenty of free time to do all the things I want when I want! A special mention needs to go to all the staff. They knew exactly what they were doing and were able to support me from the very beginning of ideas on where I can live and work in Canada applying for my visa. It is a very scary process if it is your first time and you have not got time to waste on any errors right through to now. And even if I want to live and work somewhere else in Canada they will be able to assist with that too in the future!
The only downside is that I had to pay extra fees to book my own flights and/or travel insurance which was disappointing because it meant that I lose flexibility and the cost is higher to book flights and travel insurance through them too. But I eventually negotiated no fee to book my own flights but I had to take travel insurance out through them even though I had already paid $2k for everything else already.

I signed up with Global Work and Travel Co in late 2013 for their J-1 USA program. I had work planned in the US and needed a J-1 sponsor. I had researched all the possible options and eventually went with Global Work and Travel Co. I paid my $595 deposit with all intents and purposes of going through with the program. Within almost 24 hours after having paid my deposit, I learnt that I could not go through with the program. I spoke to the company about a refund given the nature of the emergency, and I got nothing but a cold-hearted email of sympathy.
$595 is a lot of money for an organisation to do absolutely nothing in return. They state that they cannot refund the deposit, even after 24 hours - my paper work was probably not even on the desk. Regardless of the fine print, the customer service and the profiteering tactics this company projects is not worth your money, not even the risk of your money. I don't travel enough, nor would consider using a middle man to book my own travel when there are so many virtual tour agents that offer much better flexibility and price competitiveness (Expedia, Kayak, etc.).
You should avoid this organisation not because they don't offer the opportunity for amazing travel opportunities. But because they do not understand that things can happen in our lives that change our ability to travel. To be in business you need to meet this - and there are many great organisations out there that offer this as an absolute in their service. Please go out and find them. Don't let this company part with your money because they will not return it. There is nothing concrete about travel and a company should find ways to meet this characteristic. This company will ensure that you find little joy in travel again.
Thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate to hear your situation. We understand unexpected things happen all the time, which is why we have our industry leading 10-year deposit guarantee. While with most other companies your deposit would be lost, you have the option of using your deposit towards any of our trips for the next 10 years. You can view our policy here:(http://globalworkandtravel.com/ten-year-deposits/)
So please let us know if/when you wish to use your deposit towards another trip, and bear in mind our deposit are also transferable.

I'm from Australia and I travelled to Canada. I always wanted to travel and work as well so I went on a working holiday where you’re getting experience and you’re sort of doing two things at once. I've always wanted to work overseas. I've rang Global Work & Travel off, asked them a few questions and did my research to get where I am. Global Work has been so helpful when I was in Australia especially when getting my visa. It was just so painful and they always said to me, "Just give us a phone call. Email us. If you have any problems, just let us know." And they were always really great. They're so approachable and easy going.
Then I went straight to Vancouver and I spent a few days there then to BC where I've been this entire time and I really love it. Global Work and Travel has been really good and helpful to make sure that everything's fine. I found that coming to Canada, there are so many different cultures in one. It's hard because I live with my boss at the moment and she's from a different culture as well. I'm starting to learn a little bit of the new culture and diversity. I learned a bit about everything. It was really awesome and I was kept busy which was good. On my own time I climbed a volcano (which was amazing, I watched the sunrise!) and rode elephants on a different day. The volunteer week I taught English to kindergarteners and Healthcare to primary school students which was especially rewarding because they honestly don't know anything about the basics. Later I was given a written confirmation by the current sales manager for AU and NZ that my deposit would be returned to my bank account and to provide credit card information and bank details. After providing my personal details they have avoided me (this alarmed me and I am now in the process of changing my bank details and reported an attempted fraud attempt by a representative of GWAT AU).
This company can not, I repeat, can NOT BE TRUSTED in my experience. They are currently in the process of liquidating the business in AU and looking to write off all debt and the chances are, based on historical like for like situations, anyone that is currently owed money in AU will not be paid back. Please don't take my word for it. Make up your own mind if this is a company you'd like to do business with. GWAT will tell you anything and lie, so do your own research.

You tell the staff what country and what type of thing you want and they look to find what is right for you. They set up interviews until you find the right one and no matter how little the question you have an answer by the next day. Received a full refund from the company for $500.
Original Review: May 15, 2015
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. The Global Work and Travel Company does not follow through with what they say they are going to follow through with. If you type in "Global Works and Travel Co fraud" on Google, you will see that several travellers have been scammed by this company. The business claims to promise all these "too-good-to-be-true" things, such as providing a job, hotel stay, and free transportation to you if you agree to give them all of your hard-earned money.
This company swindled me with high-pressure sales to buy into this company after my FIRST PHONE CALL with them, they promised me a free Go-Pro and told me that if I did not sign up RIGHT NOW, I would lose my place and lose my free Go-Pro offer. They then attempted to talk me into giving them a $500 deposit.
It all sounded well and good to me, until I looked up their fraudulent reviews and complaints on the Better Business Bureau. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR A- REVIEW. I assumed that the transaction on my credit card would not go through until the following Monday, because the man I was speaking to on the phone said he was the last one in the office. This was misleading information. After getting off the phone with them, I saw that my credit card had been charged.
I immediately called them back the same evening less than one hour later, demanding my $500 deposit back. Legally, any person can retrieve any transaction back within 24 hours even if the transaction is "non-refundable." The gentleman I spoke with on the phone claimed that he was the last one in the office as it was Friday night, and promised to call me back the following Monday at 2:30 pm to discuss my refund with me. He requested I send him an email describing my situation and my demand for a refund.
I never received any phone call on Monday, and by then I had called my bank to cancel my credit card. A few days later, my bank called the Global Works and Travel Co, and their company finally contacted me on Thursday, three days after they had promised to call originally, and almost a whole week after my original transaction with them occurred. They were pushy and short with me on the phone, and claimed that they would call me again after talking to the Cancellations Department. I still have not received my refund.
I received a sketchy receipt from this company that says "Miscellaneous Purchase" for $500, so it does not even say what my $500 is going towards. I have received ZERO goods or services from this company, have received nothing of value, and they have stolen $500 from me. I am determined to get my money back from these scammers. Do not do business with them!!
Dear Arielle, very sorry to hear that you feel this way without actually experiencing our programs or the ongoing support that we aim to always provide to all our travellers. If and when we make mistakes we are more than happy to always come clean and learn from them, but this time your story doesn't seem to match up with our internal records at all. I'm from Australia and I travel to Canada. I got an All Program so Global Work & Travel organized my work for me. That was the thing that interested me the most because I sometimes struggle to find jobs, so I wanted to come to Canada having a job already organized. They helped me get my visa and walked me through it. If I had any questions, I could call them and they organized my job for me, my stay when I first got to Canada, and my transfer from the airport to the hostel. When my job ends, I'll go in to their Vancouver office and they'll organize another job for me, if I want.
Their staff have been great, helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable! I have absolutely no complaints with them whatsoever. Since right now I'm living in Bracebridge which is in Muskoka in Ontario I needed a car. I called them to see if anybody in Ontario had finished their work visa and were trying to get rid of a car. They weren't able to find anybody, but I got a follow-up phone call and a follow-up email asking me how I went, was I okay. They even called work cause they thought there might be a problem, but it was just that the shuttle to the resort had stopped. They've been really good and really awesome. This is the first time I've ever been away from my family. I've only been here three weeks but I've grown a lot. I've changed careers which is an opportunity I wouldn't have. They got me a job in something completely different, and will take me completely to a different direction.

To the Global Work and Travel team! This experience has been unreal so far. I am working in a great restaurant called the Boat House in Tewkesbury. A country town outside of London. I am from Sydney Australia, so to be in a country town is so different but yet every day is exciting to see what animal I'll see wandering around. :)
I am going to continue working here for now and have my eyes open for more travelling around Europe and to see my boyfriend and some family I have never met before. I have referred the Global Work and Travel to a lot of my friends who want to travel and have a great start off with this new adventure. That I totally recommend to everyone out there! Here are some snaps in London and where I am living now in Tewkesbury. Thanks again The Global Work and Travel team. Especially ** who help put all this together and also ** taking my very first phone call inquiry! Will keep you posted in what's next to come!
Please don't hesitate to get in contact if there's anything you might need during the rest of your journey as well!

Hi all! About a year ago today I decided I wanted to do something more in life, so I took to Google and came across the Global Work and Travel Company. The next thing I know I was on the phone deciding which option to choose from! I chose to be an Au Pair, in the beautiful Netherlands. I've been here 9 months, and had the most amazing experience EVER!!!! I'm going home in three, which is too soon for my liking. I'm so happy I decided to do this. I had the chance to live with a Dutch family and experience the culture first hand. I did a Dutch course and am still learning, just from daily life. One of my favourite things about Holland is all the fiets (bikes!!!). I just love the relaxed feel of it, and the generally happy people.
But enough about this amazing country. You're probably wondering about the job. Well, I'll say it's not easy sometimes. Obviously if you're considering being an Au Pair you'll have some childcare experience, and you know they aren't always little angels. Even if that is the case, the good days and the fun times make it worth it! Especially since we talk about visiting each other in the future, it's a lifelong bond and an amazing experience which will change you and allow you to grow in many ways.
Now if you want to travel (which almost everyone does right!) then this is also a great way to do it. I got very lucky with my host family allowing me a lot of time off. Almost always when the kids had school holidays. But also if you have a Friday or Monday free you can do a weekend trip to nearby places. You just have to make the most of it!! I've also made some really good friends here, some that I hope will be friends of mine forever! I hope you find this helpful. :) So, I really recommend this. I'm beyond grateful for this opportunity! Don't let yourself miss out on this one. :)

Our experience with The Global Work & Travel Co. has been real good. I was in Queensland, Australia and traveled to Manitoba, Canada. We took the best program that they've got and their team helped us with everything. Whenever we needed any information, they'd ring us straight back or email us within a day. With the program that they set us up with, everything is pretty much like a job and accommodation. We've only been here for about a month and a half and we've just been working. Everything is awesome. We've met new people and experienced the cold weather.

I'm from Queensland, Australia and I've travelled to Ontario in Canada. I purchased the Get It All package because I had never travelled overseas or moved on my own before. I had no experience with applying for visas or applying for jobs overseas, or setting up accommodations. With the package, it just seemed like the most convenient one with having the most assistance in everything that I needed.
When I was still in Australia I had the office in the Gold Coast constantly contacting me and making sure I was up to date with my whole progress. They were the ones that helped me with my whole visa application. I had a couple of problems with applying for it and if I didn't have their help I probably wouldn't even have a visa today because there were things I had to do that I wasn't aware of, and if it weren't for them reminding me, I wouldn't have known. They were really helpful with answering any questions that I had for them any time of the day, getting me informed about what documents I needed to apply for my visa, help with my resume, and everything else.
When that process was finished and I had received my visa, I was then handed to the office in Vancouver that took over my program. I spoke to their agent most of the time and she was constantly always answering my phone calls and answering my emails. That agent was the one who actually convinced me to come here to Ontario. My first preference was Banff, and there were no jobs available at the time my application was getting handed out. No places had come back with a job offer. Then I got a job offer here and I wasn't sure about taking it at the JW Marriott because it was so far away from where I wanted to originally go. But she convinced me about how beautiful Ontario is and how much of a Canadian experience I would get here and to just try it out.
So far since being here, I absolutely love it and I'm really happy that she did convince me to do so because if not, I probably would have never come. When I arrived into Vancouver, I actually got to meet her in person and the two other ladies who I spoke with at my orientation. They all helped me set up my bank account, my phone and all that. They were lovely and they said if I needed anything to just come back to the office and they will be there for me. They also helped me with organizing my transport to fly into Toronto. They were really great. I didn't get my first preference, but I understood that they tried their hardest and that it’s up to the employees of these companies when it comes to hiring. But they did as much as they could, and I had a really good experience because of it.

I am very disappointed and shocked by the lack of assistance I'm already receiving. I've joined the "get it all" program for Canada and you would think after spending such a substantial amount you would fully receive the best support and assistance possible - but nope. I paid in full over 3 weeks ago and all I received was one email from the company by a guy named ** saying what documents I need to get together and call him back once I have them all? What a joke! If you've never traveled alone before or been on a working holiday how the hell are you supposed to know a) how to get all these documents, b) how much they cost cause let me tell you according to the company's brochure it told me my visa would cost 150 only to find out AFTER in my application documents it's 250.
I still am yet to hear from them. I haven't even received a mere friendly phone call to check in on my progress with it or even an email. Don't pay that kind of money for no assistance. I'm already regretting my decision now and unless I receive the support or help I PAID for will be cancelling my application and going with the Working Holiday Club. They are cheaper and a girlfriend of mine who's not travelling til November with them has already had a friendly Skype chat with her coordinator about how to get the ball rolling whilst I'm here hoping to go in June and haven't even seen who I'm talking to let alone received a phone call that's lasted longer than 5 minutes!

I want to warn those considering a program with 'The Global Work & Travel Co.' ('Global'), in particular the 'Get Paid to Teach English in South Korea! ' program. After paying a significant sum for the program, filling out a resume template and providing other documents, I was told that the first step is to apply to EPIK. EPIK stands for English Program in Korea and is a program which you can apply to yourself and at absolutely no cost (ie: FREE). Had I known that I'd be referred to EPIK, I would not have paid a few thousand dollars for the program.
Upon further research, I discovered that a majority of the service inclusions listed in their ad is in fact standard for many, if not all, teaching contracts in South Korea. I paid an exorbitant amount for what I had initially thought was value for money. I felt extremely misled as I would have gotten those inclusions anyway for absolutely no charge, let alone a few thousand dollars! So I took this matter up with Global. They decided to issue a partial refund but only if I agreed that the amount would be the full and final settlement of my cancellation and refund request. I had no choice but to agree, it was that or nothing. I ended up losing $1642.50AUD. Please keep in mind that I did not start the TEFL course with them, nor did they do anything that is worth the money they had kept. All they did was send me a few emails, talked to me via Skype and told me to apply to EPIK.
To be fair, they did say that if I did not pass the EPIK interview, they'd look into hagwons. However, there are many recruiters that do this and they do it for FREE. I found a recruiter and he was amazing. He contacted me regularly, arranged an interview, prepared me for it and assisted me in my journey to South Korea. I now work for a public school in South Korea with all the relevant inclusions (stated in the Global ad) as part of my employment contract. So, lesson learnt! I know this is common sense to some, but for others like me, a little naive, please conduct thorough research before paying for anything of this nature.

Hi my name is Owen **. I am currently in Calabogie, Ontario in Canada taking part in a working holiday with my Fiancé Mykaela. Thanks to Global Work & Travel the preparation and the realization of this holiday has been simple, care free and exciting. From the beginning they assisted us with obtaining our Canadian working Visa, the organization of our flights to America and then to Canada, accommodation and our employment. With their knowledge and advice we were able to organize our trip in a timely and care free manner and their assistance gave us great peace of mind throughout the set up of our journey.
We both purchased the 'Get It All' package which included all of the above as well as 2 separate job opportunities in Canada. They organized us employment at a small country ski resort in Calabogie where I have undertaken work as a rental shop technician, lift operator and bar tender. They organized us, our interview and the rest is history. This process was easy, simply and fast. When we have finished our employment here they are obliged as part of our package to set us up with secondary employment in another part of the country.
Whilst in Calabogie I have learnt to snowboard, been ice fishing, hiked the mountain and explored a large maple farm nearby. There is so much to do and all of our experiences have been fresh and new from the cold -15° days to the snowboarding and ice fishing and everything about it has been so much fun. We have met a bunch of great people from all over the world which we have created great friendships and memories with. I was lucky enough to drive a big Chevy Silverado truck which has been a dream of mine and was better than I expected.
The flights were very expensive but and as a part of our contract we were stuck with them and unable to go elsewhere. Apart from this one negative the whole Global experience has been fantastic. I would certainly recommend them to others not only for the peace of mind they provided us with but the amazing experiences that we have had.

I've heard that to get a job in Canada is ridiculously hard. I got into a working program with Global Work & Travel and got their most expensive package. I travelled from Australia to Vancouver, and Vancouver to Banff. I had an interview yesterday, I had an orientation this morning, and now I've got myself a full-time job. They set me up with an interview online and got a job through that way.
But the manager of the place and the franchise sales of that particular establishment in general had no idea we were coming. There was no communication from the lady that was hiring the staff or us in general. They knew about a couple other people but it was myself and two others that they had no idea were coming. And talking to other staff that already worked and have been in Canada for a while, they were concerned that their hours were gonna get cut to make room for us.
When we were recruited we were also told that we would be getting free food while working. I was told that we would get staff accommodations and I find that the staff accommodations are only for the hosts and the cooks, always to the people in the back of house, not the servers or bartenders. I wasn’t lied to but they didn't say what certain people get which accommodation, and we certainly don't eat for free. We get discount food (only to the value of $6) and that’s about it.
I heard though about one guy who did the same thing as me (flew from Australia to Vancouver). But then they had organized him a flight from Vancouver to Calgary and it was a two hour bus ride, whereas I had to find my own way. Whoever he dealt with in Australia I guess must have offered him a different package. They didn’t really offer me the option to fly to Calgary and then get a bus across. I had to find my own way and the bus was the option.
Thank you for your review. We'll look into this and see what might have caused these potential gaps in the communication.
In regards to your position, different job roles have different perks & benefits, as always, whether it's back home or overseas, and that is unfortunately mostly out of our hands. But someone from our team will contact you within the next 48 hours to see whether we could somehow assist further, or offer further guidance/support.

I traveled to Banff from Australia through The Global Work & Travel Co's Get It All program. They give you job opportunities, help you with your visa, set up interviews, give you accommodations for five nights. But they need to stress that they offer job opportunities, not jobs. I know that got stressed but the people who ring you when you start, they say they will find you a job. It's kind of false advertising, in fact. I was really lucky in the fact that I had a job when I got here, but during the orientation in Vancouver, there was more people that didn't have jobs than there were people that did. There were six of us and four of them didn't have jobs.
I learned from them to do more research and to look into things. I probably wouldn't do it again and I probably wouldn't recommend it, but I'd suggest people to check it out and do it themselves. They first arranged my flight and got me accommodation in Vancouver. They provided me with two job opportunities and one was in banks in Alberta, Canada. I went to that interview, but I wasn't successful because they wanted me to extend until September, but I didn't want to stay until September. Then they gave me another job opportunity at the Marriott Hotel, which is where I am now. Today was my first day at the job and it was a good day.
I understand that with Global Work and Travel, direct in commission, the process may be inflated, but if I didn't go for it, I wouldn't have had this opportunity. They were helpful. I was respectful to them, they were respectful to me. The company provided me with what I signed up for, job opportunities which my performance on the interview gave me. I understood the condition before I entered it. Another thing I would recommend to the company would be to screen people before they have interviews, because taking on anyone is a bit chilly. Not everyone is competent to actually work. There are some people there that I met that maybe had a learning disability. They didn't have the actual skill to work. They should screen people first and not just take on anyone.

I had a great time whilst I was there. It didn't take me long to fall into the Africa way of life and just go with the flow. Nothing is planned and I didn't quite do what I had been informed from back home that I would be doing but that was okay. My additional feedback to Global would be to ensure that travelers are given full details before departure. I arrived in Kenya having no contact details of who was picking me up or where I would be staying and they were 1 hour late to pick me up so I had no way of contacting them. Also I recommend informing volunteers heading to Africa that although you have signed on for one thing, they will more than likely change upon your arrival (I was completely okay with this but I stayed with some other volunteers who also came through Global and this bothered them a bit). Other than that the experience was a highly memorable one that I won't be forgetting for a long time!

They also put me in the right direction and helped me in obtaining a bank account with a Visa debit card and also a social insurance number. The Hi-hostel members card helped me with discounts with hostels in other cities and the Greyhound bus which saved me money which helps while travelling.
It put my mind at ease knowing that I had a job ready for me even before I landed on Canadian soil, with staff accommodation. Meeting people here for the same thing wanting the same experience. Working, living and partying with each other, living in each other’s pocket. There's nearly always someone to spend time with do activities and share experiences with.
I came to Banff at a good time at the start of spring still colder than Australia, but wasn't a freezing cold -30 degrees Celsius. There was still snow so I still had a couple of months to go skiing and experience what Canada's so known for. I had the privilege to see the snow melt and the green grass underneath and the aqua colored rivers and lakes including wildlife such as- Elk, Deer, Squirrels and Bears. I got to go Hiking, Mountain Bike Riding and Canoeing/Kayaking. The Temperature in the summer was perfect, not too hot and humid, compared to the Australian summer. In the middle of summer the Sun was up until 10:30 pm -11 pm.
It's good they have a lot of company's all around Canada to find you a job. It's a lot harder doing it yourself and they give you some other opportunities when your contracts finished and you want a job somewhere else.
I met a lot of people all over the world including Canadians which saved me money when travelling to Ontario. I had somewhere cheaper to stay and people who knows the area and to show us around. Little things like knowing the bus schedule, good bars and restaurants all the sites, to see both tourist and locals. Without Knowing them I would have to spend a lot of time planning my trips only knowing the main tourist attractions and spending a lot more money.
To sum it all up, I had an amazing experience, one of the best experiences of my life, would recommend it to anyone, and hopefully I go back and continue this great experience in the not too distant future.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and to write a review, we really appreciate it. We are very happy to hear you have had an amazing experience! We hope to have you travel with us again soon.

Although I ended up getting a job opportunity when arriving in Surfers (I was put on Fraser Island), I was disappointed that I didn't get a job opportunity before leaving home which was one of the things that countless people from Global promised would happen. From what I've found there seems to be a huge disconnect from what Global promises and what their contract states. Overall I ended up having a really good experience with Global albeit after a few mistakes (I was sent to a job opportunity where the business didn't even know Global existed). In the end, global did exactly what I wanted/needed and were there to answer questions and concerns but knowing what I know now, I would most likely not go through Global again.

They said you only get 3 opportunities even if you said you didn't want that job or the account, and I got a job in housekeeping and I didn't ask for that at all. I don't know if that was really what I wanted to do but it worked out. I'm happy where I am where they placed me.

The program I took part in with Global Work was called the Get It All package. Essentially, that's where they make you believe that they do everything for you and make sure everything's set up and you don't need to worry about anything. They got my flight booked and my stay in the hotel. The other communication I've had with them was when I was in Vancouver and we had a small little meeting where they told me where I can go get my bank details. Other than that, I haven't communicated too much with them since being here. I wasn't happy with my experience with them.

I have had such an amazing time already in Canada and I only arrived one month ago. My orientation in Vancouver was the perfect start to my trip, I meet fellow heaps of amazing people, organised all my paperwork and learnt about Canada and all the amazing things to see and do during my time here.
I am working at a Ski resort in Calabogie, Ontario. It is a small town that have welcomed our little group of international workers. I went to my first ice hockey game in Ottawa and ice-skated on an outdoor natural ice rink. I work to work in ankle deep snow and have the opportunity to learn how to ski, snowboard and experience so many new winter activities.
I have really enjoyed my time and am excited to continue to meet new people and discover all that Canada has to offer with the help of Global Work and Travel.

I have had such an amazing experience with The Global Work & Travel Co! My top 5 experiences about this trip would be (1) exploring Vancouver on a bike - it was so beautiful to see the city and all it has to offer whilst at the same time getting a workout, (2) visiting the Capilano suspension bridge was definitely a highlight; it was so amazing to see a suspension bridge way up in the tall forest - truly a breathtaking sight, (3) working at NiteHawk Skill Hill as a snow maker for a month before it was open was really cool. I got to drive a snowmobile for the first time, and wow, that was blast. I'd definitely recommend it anyone who's never been on one before, (4) becoming a ski instructor is one of my favorite experiences. Only having skied twice prior, I was surprised I got up to par with my skills, and what an adventure it's been so far - teaching people to ski and developing my skills as a skier at the same time is just exquisite, (5) setting up/lighting fireworks on New Year's Eve was so much fun. I've never handled fireworks before and it was just great to have a front-row seat to kick off the new year and celebrating it with wonderful people that I've met along the way in a beautiful country on the other side of the world.

So far the 5 most interesting things I have experienced include going to an Ice Hockey Game in Ottawa, seeing FREEZING RAIN for the first time (scary), I have learnt how to set, tune and sharpen Skis, I have also learnt how to Snowboard, and living in such a small country Canadian town that I met most of the locals in the first week. I emailed them and someone else took over. After that, it ran really smoothly. I’m a seasoned traveler, but since participating in the program, I have gained the ins and outs of the Canadian scene and my working permit. I have more experiences to draw from, and embrace. I've signed up for The Global Work & Travel's working holiday program because I was already in America, so why not continue? I paid like $1500 which was a complete waste of $1500 because I realized I could have all done it myself when I got here. They promised me a lot more than what I actually got. I'm happy with the job I'm at now though because of the people around and Global Work & Travel Co. was good. It's just they promised a lot. I liked what they're saying about it but they never actually came through. I got told that I would be at a big resort. Then I could change work when I wanted. Then I ended up in Calgary. I was already traveling so I didn't need any help with my travel needs. But what I've heard from other people was that they charged about triple of what a normal slot would cost if you do it with them.
The worse thing for me was the insurance because I could have gotten another insurance on myself for 8 months. It would have cost me $400 with that but because I went out with Global, I had to pay almost $2000 for 8 months insurance which is a big load of cow feces. It's ridiculous. I could've got insurance for a quarter of the price. I could have done this without them. I've just wasted money and come over do that. I could have done all myself so I've gained experience of don't go through a travel company. They're a waste of money.

My experience in Cambodia was excellent, I was however unhappy with how Global operates. Global's contract forced me to pay an excess of $400 for booking my own flights and insurance, rather than using their travel department. This was because the prices they were going to charge me was so above the market rate that even after paying this fee it was still cheaper for me to book my own flights and insurance. I also found out on my arrival that Global had used another agency 'Love Volunteers' who found me my placement in Cambodia. Love volunteers only charges $720 for 6 weeks and Global charged me $2,200 for 5 weeks. When I decided to extend my trip by a week I did it directly with the organization I was placed with in Cambodia (Star Kampuchea) who charge me $77 for the additional week. The company structure felt to me like it was designed to extract money from volunteers that just want to lend a hand to developing countries. I felt taken advantage of from Global and I would never use them again and have advised friends to use organizations such as Love Volunteers instead.
Hi George, thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you were able to enjoy such a unique experience in Cambodia and that you enjoyed the support of our partners on the ground, we are sorry to hear that your experience with our company was less than satisfactory. As we're sure you can appreciate, our partners worldwide depend on agents such as our company as a source of manpower, exposure and funding. We believe your calculations for our partners wholesale pricing may be a little off, but regardless you’re correct that we aren’t the cheapest. However, we do provide a level of service, security and support that budget organisations cannot match. We work our very best to ensure our volunteers can get from their home countries to our partner projects safely and on time. In our experience, volunteers that book their own flights, routinely arrive outside the "pick-up windows”, miss connections, have difficulty changing dates in the need to return home early, plus a range of other inconveniences budget airfares don’t cater to. Similarly, we know our insurance package provides the best coverage for the programs we offer, and thus we stand by it as it is not our wish, nor that of our partners, that any of our volunteers miss their placement, arrival pick-up or orientation, or experience any ill or mishap that cannot be covered through a sufficient insurance policy. Again George, we are glad you were a part of such a unique experience in Cambodia (that’s why we work with the partners that we do), and we know that thanks to your experience you will go on to do great things for the benefit of others. We’d like to discuss this further with you to learn more from your feedback, as to where we can improve. We’d like to invite you to reach out to us at feedback@globalworkandtravel.com at a time that’s convenient for you.

I wanted to come over to Canada for working holiday to get the experience and learn a different culture and live in a different kind of environment. And also I wanted to learn how to skate and Canada’s the best place to come for that. But my experience with The Global Work & Travel Co. has not been very good. The orientation was good and people at The Global are all friendly but every time, I dealt with a different person... every email was a different person... every phone call was a different person. So it’s never very personal. They didn’t communicate with each other so they never knew who I was, or what I was doing, where I was going.
I’m happy that they got me here but in terms of help, I would definitely not recommend them to anyone. Being in Canada has been great but I found that I had to do everything on my own. Like you pay a certain amount of money for Global to set it all up for you but basically you come here and do it all yourself, which is fine but then I wouldn’t have bothered to go through the program if I could have done it all myself. It’s good that they got me the job interview but I feel like that’s all they did. They say they get you a visa and a bank account and they basically just send you a link for a visa and you do it yourself. They just give you a map and say, “Here’s the bank, here’s where you get your pin number.”
They don’t really fulfill your needs and also they messed up my flight so I ended up having to pay an extra $500 and that wasn’t my fault. And that happened to two other people that I’m with and we all had to pay extra. And then also they had to book a hotel for us because they screwed up our flight so we had to stay overnight. And when we got to the hotel, the hotel said that they had called and cancelled our booking so we had to pay again even though we already paid Global.
Thank you for your review Leah, and for providing us feedback, we appreciate it. Sorry to hear that you weren't fully happy with your experience. A big part of our 'Get It All' program is that we'll organise everything ready so all you have to do is pretty much just turn up and things will be sorted. Sure it is possible to do a lot of the things on your own, but our aim is to always be there to help you before, during and after your journey to take a lot of the work & stress away from you. Nice to hear you were happy with the job opportunity aspects. In regards to all the other inclusions, we assume you have actually received all the inclusions of your program, but if you think or feel that this might not be the case, please contact us on feedback@globalworkandtravel.com and we can make sure you are being taken good care of.
We will also use your feedback to review our processes internally, and look into seeing where we can make improvements.
Please don't hesitate to contact one of our offices if there's anything else we could do for you. Thanks again,

I have had the best experience working with the Global Team on my trip to Whistler... Your staff are friendly, extremely nice and very helpful. They were always there for me when I needed help. I leave for Canada in 12 days and could not have done it without the help from the consultants. I will be recommending this company in the future.
Safe travels back home, and we hope to have you travel with us soon again.

They are a small family owned company. They should change their name to global work and rip off. They charge you thousands of dollars for 'insurance'. They have been investigated by ACCC and have been reported by today tonight. They don't even guarantee you a job. This is all stuff you can do yourself, or go with someone else. Unfortunately I found all this out after I'd paid the $695 signup fee. You will get overcharged by thousands of dollars. They booked me on the wrong flight from not even my city, then they said this was a return flight but it was a one way and it was also the most expensive when I did more research (said it was the cheapest!).
I was so excited about everything then all of a sudden started to realize GW&T wasn't here to help, it was just to do as little for me as possible & OVERCHARGE. I got to Banff and was chatting to people who had gone through them as well. The first thing they said was they wished they hadn't used them. Of course you will see good reviews online but do you want to know who does them? THEY DO! With the way those reviews are written it's fairly obvious it's by them except to stupid people. If you want to use a company then there is plenty of others who aren't there to rip you off. Just saw them investigated on the 7:30 report. SURPRISE SURPRISE!!

My time volunteering at the elephant/wildlife refuge was by far the best experience of my life. It changed my world. I met the best group of people while over there and I just felt so at home. The daily duties and getting to know the animals is just so rewarding. I would recommend it to everyone. The second it was home time, I just wanted to turn back around and hug my elephants. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Thank you very much for giving us feedback, and we hope to have you travel/volunteer with us soon again!

My first encounter with Global Work and Travel Co I had checked out their website, sent off an inquiry and within 2 days someone call me! It was a very easy process. Every person I spoke to as I got further and further into booking my program (Africa big 5 wildlife paradise vo-06) were very helpful and communicated quite clearly. Once my program was totally booked I was kept in touch with via email, constantly getting updates or new relevant information sent to me which I greatly appreciated since I was so nervous about my trip! I was very happy that once I had started my volunteering adventure in South Africa, everything went very smoothly so I had no need to contact Global and like the first lady from Global had advised me about my experience was accurate. She had given me very sound advise which I'm grateful for since I had the most amazing trip!

I do not recommend anyone go through Global Work & Travel Co. Fastest and easiest way to lose money is by giving it over to these guys. I was constantly told lies from the beginning of my program. They are not clear on anything they say. I asked for an invoice of the costings of my program to date and they couldn't even provide me with that. Be prepared to talk to 10+ different customer reps and be ready to jump through rings of unaccountability. I could go on for years about how bad this company is...
We understand you are quite upset, especially as you were set to go on such an incredible program! However according to our records there were a few issues with your program that hindered you from completing the pre-departure coordination phase and jetting off to South Korea! We note that issues arose which stemmed from your reluctance to obtain travel insurance (which was a necessity as stated by both our admin team, coordinator and our partner on the ground), this lead to a period of time where you were unresponsive to our attempts to make contact with you, from both our admin staff, coordination team as well as our partner on the ground. Despite repeated attempts, emails and calls, you were unreachable. Due to time constraints you were then unable to proceed with the service we were providing. We firmly believe that your particular experience has been marred and delayed by several factors, including your reluctance to communicate with us, your reluctance to resolve any issues that have arisen, as well as your unwillingness to proceed with the program experience that you signed up for that we had provided. Our records indicate that you were offered a handsome contract with a school in South Korea, but because of your unwillingness to meet all requirements (Travel Insurance) prior to accepting this, we could not progress your file further (despite everything being in place). Of course we did seek to make an alternative arrangement for you and postpone your trip, to save your funds and put them into a future intake at no extra cost, despite the many hours and staff poured into providing you with this service, however again, you were unresponsive. There’s only so much we can organise and assist with to get you to South Korea if you don’t respond to us. Please, we invite you to discuss your experience with us, and allow us to work with you to resolve this. Please email us at supplierrelations@globalworkandtravel.com

Coming to Canada with Global was a great way to travel and I would recommend it to any first time travellers! They made me feel really safe which was kind of important to me as I had never been overseas, even for a holiday. I was given the opportunity to work in a beautiful, tiny town in BC, Invermere. It was sooooo beautiful there! I would walk outside my door in the mornings and not be able to hold my smile in! The view of the lake and mountains was just absolutely breathtaking! Every season feels so different to Australia! I've experienced so many new things! I was totally taken away by the native culture at the Calgary Stampede and I had never lived in snow before. I'm finally going to get to build a snowman! I've made so many amazing, life long friendships on my travels and I've definitely caught the bug! I want to go everywhere and see everything! Global gave me the confidence to move my entire life half way across the world and I'm never looking back! It's the travelling life for me :D I loved having their support! Thank you Global team!

My experience with The Global Work and Travel Company has been great. I got to experience life in another country. I’m from Australia and traveled to Canada. I took part in a Get It All program. It interested me because it offered the most out of all the packages so I decided to go with that one. Their team has been helpful and even helped me find jobs. And if I had any questions, they were able to answer them for me.
Thanks Ebony, we really appreciate you taking the time to provide us feedback!

I paid for a package where they'd get me to three jobs. They were very helpful when I needed to get my visa and they did get me a first job. But when I asked them to look into getting a second job for me, I was told that wasn't gonna happen so that sucked. Other than that, it's been a pretty good experience. If I had questions, I could ring them and ask them. The fact that they were meant to get me three jobs and only got me one upset me a bit that I paid quite a lot of money.

Initially despite being unsure on the benefits of going through The Global Work & Travel Co. I chose to do so and only time defined why it was a great decision to make! Firstly once I paid my deposit there was no backing out so I knew I would be making the leap, leaving one life behind and beginning a new. Since arriving in the UK five months ago now I can appreciate that this was by far one of the best decisions I could have made. The job placement and support if needed that Global provides is highly recommended.
Also the opportunities created once you get here and experiences you have make you comprehend the diversity that exist in the world and makes you wish to see so much more! Living in the UK is being on the front door step of many cultures just a few hours flight away. Therefore The Global Work & Travel Co. is a create pathway to helping you set up the adventure of a lifetime leaving most of the hard work for them.
Olivia in the London office is amazing and always willing to help and have a casual conversation. This never goes astray as it is always good to have someone you can contact directly instead of going through multiple representatives of a company.
Thank you very much, we appreciate you sharing your experience. Fantastic to hear you are loving it and that you are having the time of your life!
We'll forward your greetings to Olivia as well.

I would like to say that I will never go through Global Work and Travel or recommend to anyone. They told me so much false information, it is unbelievable that a company can lie straight to your face like they do. I have heard more horror stories by the people I took my TESOL course with through XploreAsia. GWT wanted way too much money for flight and travel insurance. They told me that they were a travel agency so that they could get good deals on everything. But that was a lie. I paid for my own flight and travel insurance and it was about $2000 cheaper than what GWT wanted. Also, when I arrived in Thailand I never received an email or nothing to see how I was making out or anything. Once you pay your money you are no longer a worry to them.
Another thing is that they said that they would help me with my VISA application. James from GWT told me the wrong information. I actually went to the Thai Embassy where I lived and they were like "where's all your information?" and such. Was not given the correct information and I had to Skype someone from XploreAsia to tell me the right information. I could go on and on about how horrible this company is.
We appreciate the opportunity to address your situation and feedback. We would like to resolve your situation with us, and find out throughout what has made you upset about your experience. We have notified our customer service team and someone will contact you within 48 hours.

I'm from Australia and I traveled to Vancouver in Canada. I became interested in the work and travel program because it’s a working holiday. When I was on the phone with the gentleman about 7-8 months ago, when I first spoke to him, he said he’ll get me a job in Whistler (that's where I wanted to be) and I’ll be living up in the mountains. However I ended up in Vancouver, working a valet job here. They tried to send me to Toronto for a job, but that’s far from where I wanted to be. So they pretty much sold me on a promise and didn’t deliver the promise. But other than that it’s been good. The people that I’ve dealt with have been really helpful so I'm satisfied. They helped me a lot with getting my visa, getting everything else approved, and they tried to help me get a job but finding a job myself was a lot better.

'Ladies and gentleman, we have touched down and arrived in Sydney Australia', this was no dream and my heart was pumping in excitement to get off the plane and come face to face with my new host family who I knew were waiting to pick me up. Lion hat on my head standing out from the crowd, feeling the warm heat breezing past my face, rolling my suitcase down to the airport entrance where I see my host parents, I run to them and give big hugs and hello's, I knew already this was going to be an epic journey which will stay with me for life!
I’m Alex from the United Kingdom and have a passion for working with children, well you could say I love to be a child most of the time and that’s why decided I can’t be Peter Pan forever, one day I said to myself it’s time to grow up so I left home in search of a unique experience to not only put me in a position of independence but also enable me to gain the working experience i require to progress in my future profession of working with children, so I ran away to the other side of the world to make sure wouldn’t be going home anytime soon and I have never looked back yet!
Since arriving it has been a non-stop journey of one in a life time experiences and engaging family fun, not to mention the great nights out with all the special people you meet along the way, for anyone looking to go out don’t be afraid in thinking you will struggle to find new friends or new experiences as the Australians love to meet new people all the time, and the list of great experiences are as long as the imagination expands.
Within just my first week, I already found myself experiencing real life camping with the family in what felt like the middle of nowhere, driving across the off road tracks alongside the edge of a deathly drop, being surrounded by wild kangaroos, hares, wombats, exploring caves into the unknown and looking onto breath taking views over the vast mountains, I soon made the most of this unique place as chances are I wouldn’t be coming here any time soon. For the experience’s side of this journey, it’s a constant pump of excitement especially for me being a thrill seeker/adrenalin junkie! I have took on surfing, snorkelling in conservation reef, beach volleyball, partying hard in the Australian night life, meeting new creatures at the zoo, relaxing at the cinema with the largest Imax screen in the world, flying in helicopters, attending my life time awaited music festivals, taking wilderness walks into the outback, tasting delicacy foods from all over the world, this is just off the top of my head, as it shows once you arrive the experiences keep coming without disappointment every single time!
For my experience as an au pair, I can say it’s just like being in a fun happy family, always laughing and joking, caring and keeping everyone happy in a positive attitude, my family is so cool and outgoing I cannot get enough of them, I feel so open with them I know that if I have any problem on my mind I can discuss any matter with them as they are non-judgmental and always there to help, I arrived with the fear of lack in cooking skills, yet a after a couple of cooking classes with the family, I am now cooking full healthy and nutritious meals for the whole family each night which they are loving, and each week we have the master chief judges (the host family) to not only give feedback about how the foods coming out but vote to see if I can stay another week which is all fun and games, all thanks to the amazing family who took me on.
I would highly recommend this opportunity to anyone with a positive caring attitude toward others who is looking to embrace their passion and gain experience in care and life skills in a unique land and opportunities, where you can work hard, play hard and gain more than you could ever think of!
It may sound awesome so far but I have only just started, my next part of the journey will see me fly over to Brisbane where I shall be meeting my new family, and already in place of things to do involve myself going scuba diving at the beautiful great barrier reef, skydiving over the gold coast, shark cage diving with the great whites and taking on the Australian summer period where I fear I may melt, plenty of sun cream with hours every day in the sea should be the perfect way to stay cool im hoping! So what are you waiting for, book the flight now, come out and don’t look back again after all, you only live once! Make the most of life whilst you’re here!

Global Work and Travel Co. has been helpful, but at some stages, it seemed like it was a bit of a hassle for them to help us. They said that they were going to get us job-wise, but they really didn’t fulfill that description the way they explained that they would be to us. Other than that, everything else they did was very helpful. It wasn't all bad. We have recommended them to many people, but we did tell them the things that we were unhappy about so they wouldn't be dissatisfied in some ways like we were.

It was like a good starting point since I had no idea where to start. They got me a job working in housekeeping and so I clean hotel rooms and I'm also a server as well so I serve people in the hotel restaurant. When I'm not working, I just live life. The team at Global Work and Travel company was great. I had Sam to start off with and she was awesome, like she could have easily become one of my friends. She was really helpful, nice, and understanding of what I was going through like I wanted to get away. And so Canada was my option and she helped me get here. I had a lot of insight and life experiences like I looked at life completely different before I started traveling cause this is the first time I've ever traveled. It's just like thrown into the pit and I've learned so much about myself and life. The people were helpful especially Sam. She was awesome. It was an amazing, awesome, cool experience. My experience with Global Work and Travel Company was mostly good but with problems. I dealt with one guy who helped me sign up and then everything else was through email. I’m from Australia and I traveled to Canada. Basically they helped me set up here in Canada for work and helped me adjust to things here in Canada. Since participating in the program, I’ve become a lot more independent. I was independent before but then it’s above and beyond what I was before. I’m still doing my travels and experiencing Canada.
