Both SunPower and the installer had been very, very good with any issues I have. I had an issue with the monitoring, but it was an issue with the installer. They had to reverse some wires, but then they kind of blamed it on SunPower and said in their documentation they had a tag wrong. But once they got that fixed, I'm very satisfied with it. The only thing is that I wish that I can do is to look at how much each panel is producing. I don't have access to that anymore. I could do that before but they kind of took that away. I would love to have that come back so I know that all the panels are really working well all the time.

The set up was pretty decent. The biggest pain point was the electricity service provider, Eversource, taking a lot longer than I expected them to. The SunPower dealer, SAVKAT, was very transparent about how long the wait time would be to get approval and scheduled for Eversource to come switch out the meter. They were pleasant to work with, very professional and did a high-quality install. I have friends and family that have solar and a lot of their installs were not as clean and as well done. SAVKAT was done for three weeks and inspections were done too. We were just waiting quite a while for Eversource.

Do you research on how much solar is going to cost to install and if you're really going to be saving money. Figure out what your breakeven point would be. It's not for everybody. We went with SunPower because they had the highest warranty and efficiency over time. It seemed like they were the leader in quality and performance. We're fortunate because we have geothermal heating and cooling, which is electric-based. So, our savings is at the mercy of Eversource and it diminishes each time there's an increase. So, if you have anything large-drawing, like a pool, or in our case, heating and cooling, going solar makes sense. But for others, it might not, especially if you're using natural gas for heating and cooking.

The big company out here has a partnership with Home Depot and with Costco. Price-wise, the pricing was pretty similar. But I chose SunPower because I felt like it was a slightly better value and I liked the look of the system better. It was all black. It didn't have some of the white parts that the other one did. So, I thought it would be less noticeable on the roof. But I would highly recommend SunPower to try to team up with local people or national brands to move their product. It would give more confidence to the end-user that they're going to be there if something goes wrong in five years.

Enrolling with SunPower was all right. However, when I got it, I asked the gentleman about a backup supply in case we lose power and he said they didn't have it. But a lot of other outfits do and I heard they did, too. The other issue I had when we signed up was, we were going to be signed up for this promotion where we get $1,000 rebate and it took a while to get that. I finally had to tell them, “Either you're going to give it or you can get your panels off the roof.” So I finally got it. The decision to go solar was good. I could have probably got a little bit cheaper than what I'm paying now, but it is what it is.

    Reviewed Aug. 17, 2021

The actual solar part was great, except for the fact that after it was installed, I was told that the system will not support the air conditioner starting. I wasn't happy about that. It's all because it is a 120-volt system and an air conditioner requires a full 240 or a higher amount of voltage to kickstart. So the starting part is not going to happen with this system on the batteries alone. That's why my bill is still about $100, but my PG&E bill is not $300 or $400 like it would be since I've been running the AC all summer long.

The hook-up of the system was difficult. The installation crew had to make several trips and they needed the inspection, and the inspection found that they needed a ground wire. So then, that had to be installed. During the entire process, they changed their mind about placement. So then, more holes were dug for conduit boxes, and during that process, my septic system stopped working. It started overflowing into my backyard. I thought it was two separate events, but it wasn't. It had something to do with the guys fiddling around with the boxes and a fuse trip. One little tiny fuse needed to be turned back on and because it wasn't turned on, my septic system didn't work for months.

When I called the company, they came out and said, "Well, we don't understand what's wrong. Everything's working fine." Then they said, "Well, whatever the solar people did, they need to fix it." So the solar people came back two weeks later and they looked around and said, "Well, they can't find anything wrong with anything. Everything's fine." A week or so later, I had to call the septic guy back, and then he found that there was a fuse that has been tripped and it just needed to be reset. Then my septic system started working again. So that part wasn't cool.

Since I'm new to all this and I'm totally ignorant to the financing and the installation, I did not understand and fully appreciate the fact that I have to pay one-quarter of the full amount within the first 18 months or I will be charged an extra $100 a month for the remainder of the loan. That part wasn't fully explained. It's like an extra little caveat of the financing part. So once I understood that, it was great, because now, I know I have to pay $12,000 before September 2022 or an extra $100 is going to be tacked on to my financing as a fee alone for the remainder of the loan. So, $47,000 is going to turn into $70,000 very fast.

I have the $244 payment each month, and I thought that goes towards the loan. But I found out that the $244 a month is only the interest. If I want to pay towards the payment of the loan, I have to make that payment separate. So now, I'm trying to pay $1,244. This month has been kind of hard, so I haven't done it because I had a bunch of vet bills. So there was my solar $1,000 payment for this month. But as long as I keep paying it off like this or if I can pay $1,200 a month for the next four years, it'll get paid off.

The people from SunPower had to make a lot of trips back and forth. Every couple of weeks, it was, "Hi, we're from SunPower. We just need to check something." Then the next week, "Hi, I'm the supervisor," and then, "Hi, I'm the project manager." I was like, "Hi. When are you guys are just gonna do it?" But if I was to do it again, I would stick with SunPower because it's still the highest rated company and it's got the best reviews.

I had 28 panels put on my roof. I also had a home inspector come through after they've done the work, and he was very impressed with the work that the techs did. Then I called the customer service through there. They had it routed and then finally, they routed it to a different team who couldn’t figure out anything. But the person who came on my last day, when they turned over the power, helped me with it a little bit. Then eventually, I came back online. Decided after many years to go solar based on environmental concerns (already buying 100% renewable electricity) and to save some money. After going through various suppliers and plans, I decided on SunPower equipment based on the efficiency of their panels and their projected life over 20+ years. Picked my installer (Earthlight) based on reputation/ratings and price, and was very pleased with the installation and commissioning process. Initial scheduling took longer than expected (after the site inspection), but once scheduled, everything flowed smoothly. Their electrician even wired the system to provide capacity to add solar to a potential addition. Even our utility (Eversource - CT) was quick to provide and install the net metering device.

I worked with a guy named Doug. He was my sales rep. and he was very informative. I signed up with them over the phone. It wasn’t an in-person thing because of COVID. But as soon as we got everything going, he sent everything online and we got it all completed and got the whole process going. It was super easy. We scheduled an appointment. It was very easy to get ahold of people, and if I wasn't getting ahold of the person that I need to get ahold of, Doug was always available to reach out for me. The installation took two days. It was almost like the installers weren't even here. I heard footsteps on the roof every now and again. Other than that, that was about it.

Since having SunPower, my electricity is pretty much cut in half. My electric bill before was around 350 and it was cut down to 150. So that's more than what I was expecting. I'm producing more energy than what I'm paying on the financing. So it's more than paying itself off. It's pretty impressive. When I did my own research, SunPower had the highest quality solar panels. Also, they had a workmanship warranty, a roof warranty, and a solar panel warranty. All of them were 25 years. So if anything breaks, leaks, or doesn't produce enough energy than to what it was supposed to do, then they'll come out and fix it.

It’s kind of an offset because I have two air conditioning systems in my home. I kind of designed it so that it was just doing an offset for me.

I recently put an addition to the house with a brand-new roof that had a decent exposure. Then, I received an email from my job saying that they were going to kick in $1,000 towards my purchase of SunPower. I had also seen an infomercial about SunPower and had been googling it. So, I decided to make it happen. They used Google to verify that it was going to be a decent setup, but there was a tree that I wasn't sure about. When they came out and took a look, they said that the tree should go and I got rid of it. All in all, the process went fairly well but it took a little while to get through the red tape to get things going. And the biggest hold up online was because of setbacks from hedges. They deviated from the plan that they had drawn up originally, so they needed my utility company to sign off on that. It took weeks for that process to occur, but they went live pretty fast after that. Other than that, I haven't had any problems with the product.

SunPower has the best product than other solar companies as far as quality of the panels. There were several companies I had come out and do estimates but the representative from SunPower was truly the best out of them. Even when they came and change my meter, the Nevada Power guy happened to be here and talked to him. He said he'd heard nothing but good stuff about them. I had the system put on last June and it took a while for it to build up. But thank goodness, I had a credit from my power bill so it evened things out. The last bill that I got was only $13. It hasn’t been any more than that. Therefore, I’m very, very happy. They promised I would not have a bill from Nevada Power and that was a determining factor. So far, so good, and I would refer them.

I feel very good about the installers that installed here locally but I'm not too crazy about the other people from the main office. We've been having some high winds and some storm. I thought it was thunder. Something was slapping on the roof. I thought one of the solar panels had come loose. I called the main office and they don't sound very caring. It sounds like they read a script to you. They target the problem and say, “They shall come and talk to you in 7 to 10 days.” I tell them, “I'm having a problem right now. I would have to wait 10 days for somebody to call me back and communicate?” They would say it might be sooner but it was very impersonal.

I never got any feedback whether they were sending somebody out to fix it, whether the installers contacted the main office and told them or anything. I'm the one who contacted the main office here in Las Vegas. It was not SunPower that did that. I called the installers and the secretary says that Mark, the owner, should give me a call in next couple days. They had somebody out here in the next couple days who went up there and it wasn't the actual solar panel. It was the electrical connections have come loose. But he said these things are geared up to 100-mile an hour wind. There's also a certain percentage that gets raised every year. This is the year mark and it went up a couple of dollars which was in the contract. But I have all this paperwork emailed to me. I asked was the payment still gonna come out of the account but they were very hesitant to answer questions. It doesn't sound like they know the answer to the questions.

Third, I'm still paying an electric bill and generating over 1,600 kwh more than I use every month and being billed for "consumption". There should be a law against this, but here I am. Now I am providing power to the electric provider and STILL PAYING A BILL even though I generate more than I use. Was paying average of $217/mo for electricity. Now have bill for $197.00 for solar equipment and STILL HAVE AN ELECTRIC BILL FOR $100 give or take. Talk about inflation...and deceit. If I had known this...things would have been different.

My wife liked the agent from SunPower and the panels. The agent said the panels give out higher amount of energy and the power loss is very low over an extended period of time. I had looked at another company first, and they were gonna put up enough panels to where it would have done 108% of our usage. When we met with the Energy Concepts guy, he said they couldn't do that. They were going to do it at 103%. I said, “Okay. There’s still a little bit of a leeway.” When they put it up and we read the paperwork, it was at 100%. There was no leeway. I haven’t talked to them yet to find out if we used more energy than the previous year, or if it underperformed a little because we only had the panels cleaned once. So, that could be part of it too. Other than that, we’re crazy about going solar. Even with the worst case scenario, we’re still saving lots of money. I really like the SunPower app, too, because I can go on there at any time and see what power it's generating, what it's done from the beginning, any month, year to date, daily or hourly. I looked at various rating programs and technical data and it became evident that SunPower seemed to have pretty much the best solar panels available as far as watts per panel. It's probably 100 watts per panel more than it used to be five years ago. We also like the idea of a single supplier providing all the parts. I'm a retired engineer, so I kinda understand if you have parts from different manufacturers coming together, there are always potential problems and finger pointing. Based on the technical information I saw in a packet, we could get a total composite solution from SunPower and that was kind of the deciding factor.

The physical installation went pretty good with our contractor, Sheffield Solar. But it was a little bit complex because we have a shop in a house and we wanted the panels on the shop because of greater sun availability. A part of it was PG&E seemed to be very unresponsive as far as getting the approval. We viewed the PUC and the PG&E articles and they mentioned a 30-day approval cycle. But we were over 90 days once the physical installation was complete before we finally got authorization from PG&E to connect the system. Our contactor responded to all their requests, but they kept asking questions that should have been asked for quite a while.

With the equipment and the overall app overview, we're very happy. It's just the lack of response from SunPower's customer service phone line we have issues with. The initial customer service contact for SunPower is a pity. It's about as low as you can get. We couldn't get any information from the app and I kept telling them our Wi-Fi has been up and we have other devices that we have not had a problem with but they kept saying it was a Wi-Fi problem. The also said they would check into it and give us information either via mail or a phone call. But we never did hear anything back from the three different customer service reps. We finally contacted their local contractor and when he was contacting the initial customer service phone number, he had the same response that we did. But he knew who he had to get ahold of. He went through and got through the the second or third level of technical experts to get the problem solved.

Our contractor has the ability to see what's going on with the panels and a little bit more real-time data but I wish I had a little bit more technical visibility of how the panels are doing, what is the actual current we're getting, etcetera. I'm a little bit unhappy with the lack of technical visibility we have with what's going on with our system. That was one of the issues I sent an email to customer service making a request. I'd like to have something as basic as a revision level for the SunPower app because there's no way to know what level I've got. They said they will forward it to their people and give me some feedback. Again, I never heard anything about that. It's a simple request and with most of the other applications, you can see what revision level you have online.

SunPower panels themselves work well.. I made the mistake of leasing the panels as I live in a high wind prone area near the Cajon Pass in So. What I've learned since is that I will Never EVER sign a lease with Sun Power again.. It's Horrible.. They put a lien on your home and don't tell you.. So every time you go to borrow money it's an issue, and God forbid you refi your home to try and get a better interest rate.. They try to charge $300 for paperwork and it delays everything you are trying to accomplish.. Not to mention all the games SCE is playing with "Time of Use".. So now when your panels should be creating the most energy at the highest rate.. Sorry, nope. They change the rules to benefit themselves and not us by making the peak time from 4-9 at night when the panels don't create any energy..

It's a joke.. But the worst is the lease.. Don't just walk away.. RUN.. It's the worst, and I have 20 years to deal with this HUGE mistake... Terrible terrible terrible.. Recently I tried to buy the system as I've been dealing with this mess since 2013, They wanted more for it now at $34k than when I made the mistake of going with the lease. In 2013 I could have purchased the system for $31k and probably less back then with the available rebates .. Now at the end of this lease I will have paid over $52K.. SunPower’s quote was low, and their schedule seemed to be a little bit quicker. The installation was pretty quick and easy. I didn't really have to do much once I got the quote and gave my information to the group through Jeff. They did the installation in one day. Everything was stress-free. SunPower walked me through each step of the process step by step. They called me when it kinda reached the next step of each phase. After the installation, we finalized some stuff to be able to turn the system on and then the inspector came out.

I had an issue when the app with the box wasn’t picking up the internet. After I reset the modem, it kept searching for my internet. It wasn’t connecting to that network. I kept searching, and it would just stay on that searching window for hours. I sent an email to SunPower and I got a response really quickly. They told me to do and there were a couple things that they ran me through, which I had already done because I'm used to those kind of things. It seemed they were kind of just going through the norm, and none of that really fixed it. I kept coming up with the same issues.

I tried something and it said, "Connect to network." But it was still stuck on that searching mode forever. So I tried to explain this to SunPower and they told me to give them a couple of days and they would look into it and come back. But I didn't hear back from them. I haven't checked in a few days, but now that I opened it, it seemed that it’s connected. It must have connected on its own. So that’s good.

There's a part in the SunPower app that a little unclear. It shows how much I produced and used. It goes positive for when I'm producing a bunch but then, it kinda goes negative. So there are the green and blue bar charts. The green shows what I'm producing through my solar panels. The blue shows what I've used, but it's -1 kilowatt from 9:00 to 10:00 and then -0.37 kilowatt hours from 10:00 to 11:00. So it'd be nice if they could say how much I'm making and using and then the difference between the two bar charts is how much I'm giving back to PG&E. But for the most part, they have pretty awesome service and they were pretty decent in terms of installation.

I did a lot of research and liked the fact that SunPower had the leading products, the best efficiency, the most power per panel, and it was all one full system to do everything as opposed to using various different vendors for the different pieces to put it together. I also got a couple of other prices and there were a few that were a little less but with lower level efficiency panels or their financing options were nowhere near as good as what SunPower had. So, although it was more expensive than some of the other choices, I felt that going with SunPower was the best option.

During all of the purchase and the setup, they were very responsive and they took care of everything all the way through to signing the papers and answering questions. They were very timely as well in getting through everything. But once everything was signed, I didn't like how a couple of things went as the process went faster than was expected. My work had me out at a lot of different sites, I'm not always at home, and there were appointments that came up with a day notice. In general, for a lot of people, that would be amazing to have it come up that quickly. But it was a challenge for me trying to get those scheduled appropriately and being able to be available at home when the appointments happened. So in a couple of cases, I had to have somebody else come over and be here while the techs were here, because I couldn't do it.

My parents also got a quote through SunPower that was what we expected it would be. But SunPower was sticking to certain guidelines of how many panels they could put on the roof surface. They were using a third party SunPower installer who was going to do pool heat and they put more panels on the roof because it's a garage versus a living space. At least in San Diego where I'm at, there are limitations on how close to the peak and the edge of the roof they can go with panels. On a living space, they have to follow those rules. But on a garage, they don't. And SunPower Direct didn't want to vary from that, even though it wasn't the living space.

The construction of the panels themselves were what I was most impressed with. It may very well be the construction was very similar with the other ones, but the SunPower rep took the time to point out things that I liked where no one else did that, so it made me think that there was some difference there. He had taken the time to tell me about the panels and how the copper underneath the cells were holding it together. If one cell became damaged or cracked, it won't take out the entire cell or take out an entire bank. Taking that time to explain the construction and why the panels themselves will last 25-plus years definitely did it for me. Once the permit was done, I got one DocuSign from utility that I signed. Then I got an email from them saying, "We're reviewing it." About a week later, I got another email from them saying, "Okay. You're good to go. Turn it on."

I'm quite satisfied with going solar. It was just the terms that upset me after we closed the deal. We were expecting money from the local electric company and from the federal government. But it's only credit. It's not the amount that we will receive. It's not deducted from the amount of purchase. And that was the reason why I had chosen to go with the selected amount. That's a little disturbing when you realized that you think you're going to get some deductions and you end up having to pay the whole thing, and it's only considered a credit.

If I have known that before, I probably would have gone another way. They need to stop telling that you're going to get a rebate. It's not a rebate. And if the local power company doesn't agree to it, you don't get that credit, either. The process with SunPower was very easy though. It worked out real well. The electric bill is minimal and just this month, we didn't have to pay anything for electrical and that's roughly around $30 to $50 depends on what time of year it is sometimes.

The guy that I talked to was knowledgeable and seemed to be aware of what was going on within the industry. The bulk of installation was done in less than half a day. The electrician took a little longer because of the way my house is set up. The installation is primarily west-facing but my electrical service is on the opposite side of the house, so he had to do a little number through the attic. Once he got that done, he had already installed all the necessary stuff and I had my electricity provider change out the meter. So he was here about an hour and a half more after the guys installed the panels and the wiring to go with the panels.

SunPower did a pretty good job. A guy came out prior to an engineer actually looking at it. He came out with a drone ad took a lot of shots from 200 feet up so that he could see the impact of the trees. One of my neighbors asked me about SunPower and I told him that it's not inexpensive to own it and he may not get the benefit of it 100. Because whoever owns the house will get to benefit from it in about 25 years.

While my sales rep was getting the order, she was very helpful and always answered calls. But when I had questions later, she didn't answer calls or seemed very helpful. But I understand that that's the way it goes. The installation was done in three stages and they were all very good. I did enough for the house, then I added a little bit more just to make sure. I decided to go solar when I got a $900 electric bill and now, I don't pay any electric. I have two central air units running and I own a Tesla I charge all the time.

I like SunPower and they said they’d tell me if one of the panels was broken. But it would be nice if I had some way to see how much power was coming out of each panel anytime I wanted, so I would know where to place extra panels. At the moment, I don't know whether southeast is a better exposure or southwest. They also said that people just used them 24/7 but I told them that I doubt that because nobody uses them in the dark. Too many people are clogging up their computers trying to see how their solar panels are doing and SunPower could give each customer a day of the month, 1 through 30, when they could log in and see their production. Or they could provide a spreadsheet showing how much power is produced on each of the panels. If they do all that stuff, I’m going to buy a second electric car that can come up with another eight panels up.

So in the reviews I have seen here, I see a lot of people talking about the installation and the installation companies. That is fine, but what I am reviewing is the actual Sun Power corporation. Before purchasing solar in 2013 I did a lot of looking into the questions, do I buy? or is leasing better? What kind of panels are out there? What are the benefits to these panels? Etc. There was actually so much out there I had my step-daughter help me out who pointed me to a great company. This company got me to purchase the Sun Power models of solar panels talking about all the perks, etc. At the time, I believe I purchased the correct panel...However, in 2021 I feel as if there are far better options out there because you have to consider what they will do if anything goes wrong. I thought I purchased a panel with a solid warranty so I felt good. Not so much after recent events.

I have had nothing but problems with my inverter for over a month (look up this kind of problem and you will see people still complaining 6 months into trying to fix their inverter issues). The inverter displays a "Disturbance AFCI" code and shuts off several times per day. For those who are still reading this, that is a code that says there is an arc in the electrical system so the system shuts down. They have replaced diodes (which over the last few years they realized these melt in the heat...Did they tell a consumer? No, they just wait until you have an issue and then they replace them...Not the kind of warranty service I would want to hear if it was my car and related to my brakes or engine).

They have replaced wires. Yet it still has issues, and they still refuse to recognize what their own TECHNICIANS and what it also says over the internet...It is the inverter. They say their manuals (not the one I have) indicates the inverter temp will get in excess of 150 degrees. They say it is normal for the cooling fans to "not work during normal operation". They have said they only replace these inverters with refurbished because they are obsolete now.

So, in less than 7 years I have an inverter that is obsolete, less than 3 years left on any warranty for it, and the best I will get is one that has broken down before and they say they have fixed it. Oh, and there are information around on that too...6 months seems to be the average a refurbished lasts. I have zero faith in my system continued performance and after spending over $30,000 and estimating it would take 7 years to pay myself back...I haven't even broke even buying solar before my system crashed.

So, here I sit, waiting and waiting, no solar unless I want to burn my hand when I have to "knock" to reset the panel (reminder I said they said it is normal for the temp to get over 150 degrees on the inverter...but require a knock on the hot surface to reset your system. I have had to do up to 10 times per day). All I keep getting is, "well, this is the next step we have to try" and within hours nothing is fixed. I have now had to cancel a vacation because of this system. My concern...people have even had these inverters "blow out"...and I don't know about you, but I don't want that happening when I am here, let alone out of town. So, in summation, you may like what you buy, but the quality after your purchase has left everything to be desired. I keep hoping the company will come thru, but it hasn't happened yet. Just trying to help those out there make an informed decision.

But the rep kept telling me to keep calm and that during the summer, it offsets. It's now decreasing because of the summer months and more time in the sun. I've been very happy with SunPower.

We got quotes from two different salespeople, Renova and SunPower. They're the same company. We ended up going with Renova because they were already situated in Palm Desert and they've done a lot of installations there. They're also familiar with our HOA and how to deal with our HOA. The salesperson I dealt with was the best I've ever dealt with. We've only had the system for just over a month or two. With our recent bill, we didn't have a bill but we had a credit.

SunPower had good overall product reviews. The warranty was also part of my decision to go with them. Getting started was awful. I had the worst sales guy. If it wasn't for the fact that I wanted SunPower, I probably would have gone with another brand. I met with a sales guy who supposedly was the best. He wasn't really good at following up and he totally ghosted me after physically meeting with him. At first, it was fine because we weren't ready to put the system in. But I didn't hear from him for three months so I called Esmay and said I wanted a different salesperson. That salesperson was a little bit better but not much. If you're going to spend $35,000 in cash, you should get a little bit of follow-up and a little bit of service. The minute I paid, never heard from the salesperson again. The last time I spoke to him, he said he had some personal stuff going on. I had to chase him down a little bit.

The installers, on the other hand, were fantastic. They were professional, friendly, informative, and on top of their game. They were really thorough. We were having a pool done at the same time as the solar system installation. My experience with the solar install guys was top-notch compared to the people putting in our pool. The install guys would always make sure we knew what was going on.

I have the SunPower app. I started to notice that we went from producing like 80 watts to 50 watts. It was happening for two weeks. I called or emailed Esmay. They said there was some sort of communication error and they had to send someone out to reset it. They said it would be my responsibility to let them know if there were any issues, which was a little weird but I'm assuming that's how it is with all the solar companies. It took a couple of days to send someone out. Other than that, the company was pretty responsive. If I ever referred anyone, I would just say not to work with the two sales guys. Hopefully, the next salesperson would be better.

The local PG&E rates are going through the roof, combined with the thinking of getting an electric vehicle and considering the overall power consumption, I thought I would go solar and minimize my cost going forward. I got the cash to put the system in. Now, I'm getting close to retirement and I don't want to keep putting out a lot of money on an unknown basis to cover PG&E cost. So that amortized my utility bill cost going forward.

The system isn't quite performing as I had hoped. I have been toying with going solar for several years. And I've got some large trees across the street. I've had multiple companies come out there. They put their monitoring equipment on the roof and said, “Well, because of the amount of shade, it's not going to work out all that great for you.” That was a few years back. Then SunPower came. They got some kind of program that looks at shade, sun angle and orientation and said they believe it would be cost-effective. And was told there was a guarantee it would produce a certain amount of power. And if it didn’t, SunPower would either put up more panels or do something to remedy it. So on that basis, I moved forward. Their installer was very responsive and courteous. They did a good job representing SunPower.

I never expected this. Complete strangers walking by have complimented us on how nice looking they are! The guy across the street used SunPower, and he referred me to them. I called and they were right there to do what we needed. SunPower sent a guy out who inspected the roof and said, “We can be here on a certain day.” They were there, they did the work in two days, and they were done. The process was less than 30 days. We stay in that house four months at a time and right now, we're putting 3.2 kilowatt hours to the grid. The micro inverter component of Sunpower's X20 Series solar modules have proven to be unreliable. I had 16 of these modules installed in April 2016. When I first experienced micro inverter issues, Sunpower's response was excellent. On two different occasions in 2018, they arranged for prompt replacements. However, in the fall of 2020, more failures started to occur. One quarter of my solar modules are non producing. I am no longer a net producer of energy. My energy costs are noticeably higher.

The original installer, who also performed the repairs, contacted Sunpower on my behalf in October 2020. Apparently all my micro inverters are from a previous technology (SolarBridge). Sunpower is in process of retrofitting customers will a newer technology (Enphase). I am apparently on a Sunpower waiting list. Every few months I call customer service to inquire about my status. The answer is always the same. "We'll get to you as soon as we can." I suspect that there is a shortage of the replacement style micro inverters and that new sales take precedence over existing customers. Having component failure in the field must be a nightmare for Sunpower. But from where I stand, it's seven months and counting.

The difference in the product that he showed us in comparison to other solar companies out here was the other thing that sold me and that he wasn't just trying to sell us a lease. We decided to go Solar because we wanted to save money from electric bills that kept increasing their prices every year. I read reviews and made my research on who is the best company that we can go to. And found that SunPower has the best reviews from customers or clients. I have mixed reviews for this. The solar panels in general is great. The service overall is just poor. The energy consultant Rebecca ** was very good and I enjoyed dealing with her in the beginning of the process. She explained and answered all my questions. The installation was also good, they were prompt and there was no problems or damage to our home. The solar panels were beautiful and looks sturdy and was installed as planned.

The rest of the teams that handles the billing/invoicing and the coordinator are poor. They made a mistake and started billing me as cash customer when It was supposed to be 12 months Same as Cash financing. I had to resolve with them several times to get this corrected. Also, there was no flexibility as far as scheduling. Because of them being based in another state, most of the time they will call me during business hours, there was no weekend options. When they finally completed the installation and got the PTO approval from SCE, the tech coordinator didn't properly walk us through the process. The instructions wasn't too clear and confusing. I couldn't reach the assigned representative. It takes them several days to no respond at all.

The email states that if we have problems within 4-8 weeks we may reach out to them. I tried doing that but my coordinator never replied. I felt ignored and thought that since it's completely installed, now we're on our own. Currently, the monitoring system app shows us that we’re producing solar energy. However, when we received our first bill with SCE they are still billing us the same as the original and didn't reflect the solar energy. I have called SCE and was told that they don't have record of my PTO and that's why my bill is still the same. I have to wait 3-4 weeks again and check with SCE if it has adjusted. So to this date, I started paying for solar panels but haven’t enjoyed the savings that SunPower promised.

I asked around and was told that SunPower along with another company was the best. When I was ready to do solar, SunPower was at the top of my list. I also looked on the internet for the ones that were rated the best and had the best quality. SunPower was right up towards the top so I went with them even though they are more expensive than the rest of the solar companies. The others didn't seem to be as good a quality as SunPower.

The salesman responded quickly. We talked on the phone and through emails. He was really good at it. And when I asked him where's my $200 was that I was supposed to get for sending people to them, I got the money right away within a week. The salesman took care of that. He told me, "Let me know about the $1,000 visa card. We want to make sure you get that." I sent an email the other day and I got it a few days ago. He was caring and when I ask him any questions right off the bat, he was quick to respond. SunPower did a nice job.

The guys that installed my solar system were courteous. They were more than helpful and willing to answer any questions I asked. They were aware of everything, of taking care of things, of being careful, and so forth. When I told them that they were making little spots on the roof, they stopped immediately and put things horizontal instead of the corner into the asphalt shingles. They responded. They just weren't thinking because it was an easy way to hold them.

I had a good experience with SunPower and things went smoothly. If somebody is looking to get solar, I would say I dealt with SunPower. They're a little higher priced than everybody else but the cells are good quality ones and they have a 25-year warranty. That was what I said to my neighbor. He went ahead and contacted SunPower because he knew I did my research.

The only thing is SunPower needs to be able to have their consumers access what each cell was putting out so they can tell if they have a bad cell. All they have to do is throw one page in, put the cells on it, and have the same link to that interface unit as they've got for all the other information. Other companies do that because the neighbor across the street was surprised I couldn't see my cells individually. When I asked about it, SunPower said many people have asked about it. It would be a feather in their hat if they could add that.

Almost exactly 1/2 what it was for each month last year. I contacted SunPower and they assured me my system is functioning normally and to not worry. I contacted AirSun, the company that installed the panels and they generate an inquiry to SunPower and then next day they call me back and say that SunPower has discovered several microinverters that have blown. So essentially, the monitoring is set up so that SunPower is not alerted when something goes wrong in my system. The company they contract with did not alert me when something went wrong.

The main inverter continues to shine the green light that everything is functioning as expected (This is all I have to check that my system is functional). And to top it off when you reach out the SunPower for help they assure you that everything is functioning normally. It turns out that having SunPower solar panels means that you, the consumer, must monitor your own systems performance, yet, you are given no tools or monitoring abilities to determine if you have an issue. All you have to go off of is your daily KWH production. Very, very disappointing. I would like to have someone reach out to me to make this right.

I looked over a couple of alternatives locally and through my company perks program, they had a couple solar companies there. I did research as well in there and found out that SunPower was the better reviewed from the ones I checked on. The installation was a day and a half, which was quick. I wanted to have the Tesla batteries as part of the configuration through the resellers that they have in the region, but Tesla was way behind delivering the product.

That was the hardest part of the process. It took a few months and then we decided to go without the batteries first because they were 100 and something in backorder. Everything went great and fast from there. Eventually when they start getting the batteries, we're gonna go visit that again. When everything was set, we had to wait for FPL to come and replace the meter. That took a week and from there, I've been producing a lot more than I expected. We got not so sunny days and still producing a lot, so the product is definitely very good. With the quality of the installation, the look of the equipment outside is decent. It stands out and it's neat.

The insurance part was a little pain as well. Many of the insurance companies are not insuring solar panels. After I had everything installed, I called my insurance and then they said, "Oh, we got a problem. So you gotta go get a new insurance." My advice, deal with your insurance company and ensure that they can take care of those. If not, get ready to do a swap of your insurance company to ensure that you're protected.

There were two options we looked at. One other competitor tended to lease the panels and the equipment, their system, as opposed to encouraging people to purchase it. SunPower was more oriented towards purchasing, which is what I was more interested in. I also thought getting the solar panels from SunPower was important. They had a bigger capacity panel so I required less panels than if I went with another contractor. They had a good reputation in the community too.

When the installers of the panels came, we had to reschedule ‘cause the first day, it was too windy to put panels up. After that, they did their work in one day then we had to wait for NV Energy. It was supposed to be four weeks, but NV Energy came in less than a week. Everything worked out fine. On a different note, I have the mobile app that I log on to, and it shows what we're generating at any point in time. However, it doesn't show me what my net is.

SunPower's a great company and they have a good reputation. I went to other companies to see what their rates were like and see what other brands of panels were like. But I liked Castle Energy, our installer who told us about SunPower, so we decided to go forward with them. Their reps were super kind and not pushy at all. They answered any questions and the enrollment process was super easy. Then, the installation was really simple and it took three days. The guys were clean and they left the area as good or better than they found it. They were really easy going and the panels look nice. They fit well in the house and seem very well centered. So far, we had an $8 bill last month then the money I owe SunPower, which is 182, was directly taken out of my account. So, if I can keep that under $200 a year for the next 20 years, I'll be very happy.

What I like about SunPower is the performance is excellent and higher power density than most panels. The longevity has been proven to be better. Panels do fade with time, don't put out as much power, but SunPower seems to be exceptional in that regard. The integrated inverters on the panels are pretty cool. There's a lot of great technology and performance and it's all US-based. The vendor that installed them, Earthlight, already knew what panels I wanted. It took a little bit longer than what I hoped, but it's to be expected. I knew what was going on the whole time. The app is good but not great on the phone. I like to look at it once in a while and see how we’re doing.

We have been applying for a full year. The local utility doesn't want to buy my electricity, and yet, they don't want me to turn into a power plant. They basically pay by my excess electricity when I don't actually need it, but I'm producing it at half what I pay them for electricity at night. Which makes sense because that's the way the bill goes. I would have gladly had a longer payback period because I don't get paid much for selling electricity to the grid. They want me to produce as much electricity as I use and that’s it.

I installed 18 SunPower panels in 2015. They worked great for a couple of years. Then they stopped working altogether. I found out that there was a manufacturing defect during a 3 week period when my inverters were manufactured. The reason I paid a premium for Sunpower is for their comprehensive 25 year warranty. I opened a case with Sunpower on February 3, 2020. They told me that someone would be coming over to inspect the panels within a few days. No one ever came or even scheduled an inspection. I have been calling ever since. Each time the extremely polite customer service representatives keep me on the phone from 1 to 2 hours but resolve absolutely nothing. They used the pandemic as an excuse for a while but after that they said they are looking for a new inverter manufacturer.

It has been years since I have had any electricity produced but they won't replace the panels and seem to be unable to fix the existing ones. The warranty is effectively meaningless. I actually would still like to give Sunpower another chance and add panels so that I can get an electric car. I just wish the panels would work and that the company actually honored the warranty.

We love SunPower. We had some before in our previous house. Recently, we got them and the installation was very good. We had a couple of glitches on the installation of the conduit, but not the panels. We have no more power bill. We also had Ambrose install a Tesla power wall battery, three of those. So, we have no PG&E bills, except for what they charge you for the use of their power lines.

We had a little trouble with the original understanding of the power walls. They told us we'd get so much of a rebate, and then they came back and said, "We think that's wrong. But we won't change that for you. We'll leave it as it is. But for new customers, we'll change it." We did not pay them because PG&E hung up the whole process. They want to register with PG&E for the power wall for the batteries. We have three. Instead of three, they put down two.

So, PG&E caught that and they had to re-initiate the entire process, which started in August and ended in February. So, that whole time we had to wait to power up the batteries. Ambrose wanted their money and I refused to pay them the amount that we owe them in the end. I said, "I'm not gonna do this because we don't have a finished product yet." Then, they backed off that and they just waited.

It would seem that PG&E doesn't really have their act together either. They had to wait such a long time for PG&E to process these applications again. But the thing is up and running now and we love it. The people with Ambrose are very nice to deal with. If we have any questions, they're very responsive, very knowledgeable and we're happy with that part of it.

We made the decision to go solar about a month before the big Texas blackout in February. Felt good about it at the time. A few little glitches have come about which have us doing some further examination. The BIG problem we are having is because of the electric companies involved. The energy provider insisted we replace our meter, which we did. At the time the panels were installed, the installer gave me a tour of the system, showing me how I knew that the system was generating power to send back to the grid.

The new meter was installed and I'll be darned if the new meter measured power going back to the grid the same way the old meter did. Two hundred+ dollars down the drain from my perspective. The billing company was (at least at this writing) less than helpful about giving us credit for the power we are sending into the grid. Until I get a bill from Reliant stating otherwise, I presume that we are shoving power into the grid costing them nothing, which they turn around and sell back to us. We will see. One other complaint/glitch which irks me is the application.

The ad for the application shows there to be a graph showing both our use and our production of energy. It only shows our production without showing what we are using. That is, when the application is working. On three separate occasions to date, I've turned on the application to have it tell me the panels are not producing power... under clear blue skies... in the middle of the day. The first time it happened, I called the tech person at a call center in INDIA to see what the problem might be. I have dealt with Indian call centers in the past and don't really care to deal with them.

I'm sure that "Skip" from New Delhi is a really swell guy, but I have yet to deal with someone in an Indian call center who understands some of the nuances of the English language. Long story short, he directed me to a breaker I did not know we had and had me reset it. Problem solved. There would not have been a problem in the first place had the salesperson or someone so assigned would have given me a tour of the system at the time we signed off on the installation. Anyhoo, that explains why I can only give my experience four out of five stars. Sorry about running a bit long. I am a writer, you see... Be Seeing You!

The first person we talked to was amazing. He responded quickly and was available through texts and emails. When it came to the installation, there were a lot of issues on the end of the company that was installing the solar panels. They were supposed to come but didn't because of bad weather. We understood that but when they were supposed to come again, they didn't have all the equipment with them that they were supposed to have. When I talked to the subcontractors that were installing it, they said it was that the person admitted that he didn't order them when he should have so we had to wait another several weeks for them to come in. That part was kind of annoying.

The company wasn't responsive when I was trying to reach out to them so I had to keep going back to the original person and again, he helped me through all that. It was frustrating to know the company that put in the panels is growing but it seems like their customer service is dropping as a result. Also, one of the reps tried to walk me through the SunPower app but it is confusing. But I'm referring people out for SunPower. We've been happy with the quality of our panels. I love the way they look too. They're sleek along the roofline. They're definitely not an eyesore at all. I'm also happy with how they're working and the amount of electricity they're bringing in. The most recent bill was down to $10.

They have a dedicated sales rep who was very knowledgeable and helpful, and as it turned out, very honest at the end. So that was a very positive thing. The other thing that was nice about SunPower was that they were connected with a local company, which had a great reputation. Now that the system is up and running, I enjoy being able to go online and see what's happening hour by hour. SunPower is not the least expensive, but they are the best overall value and support.

So, I did all the application and Sierra Club sent me 1,000 bucks, they sent SunPower 1,000 bucks, then I contacted our local outfit, which was Cape Fear Solar, and went through and bought a system. The Cape Fear Solar did a fabulous job but dealing with Duke Power was the opposite end of the scale. They were terrible and they acted like they didn't want me to do it. But SunPower helped me a lot with Duke and I couldn't have navigated Duke Power's issues without them. They were wonderful, friendly, and extremely responsive. I liked the way that the Urban solar panels looked. They were different than the other ones. Also, the guy seemed to work with me better and he felt more trustworthy. He seemed to explain the process better than the other couple of companies that seemed like the person that was sent out was a salesman and it was a hard sell. When they were done with the project, which just took a couple of days, I was too busy to sit and listen to what was going on. So I'm not really sure how the system works. I don't know how to use the app to check on what's going on. But that's my fault. It would have been nice if they left something I could read. So that I could do it as opposed to having somebody walk me through it, which they probably thought was better, and probably is better but I didn't have the time. But overall, I was very happy with Urban Energy.

We're already seeing benefits from it. We're paying less than what we would normally pay. I'm really happy that we did it. One other thing I wish that we could have done differently was have a power bank where we can store our electricity. I don't think we had that option. When we had that winter freeze here, we should have been able to produce our own electricity. We should have been able to go off the grid and produce our own.

Considering the recommendation from the sales representative from California Solar as well as SunPower’s reputation, their product, and the fact that I could see that their product appeared to work quite a bit better than most of their competitors, SunPower was the one that we wanted to go with. It was also easy to work with California Solar, the company that we contacted. They took care of everything and their communication was stellar. I can't say enough about everybody, from Michael, who was the sales representative and did the initial site survey, to our project planner, the technicians that came out, and the installers. We even had some glitches and hiccups and things that happened, not by any fault of California Solar or SunPower though. PG&E threw some wrenches in there.

There was also some public safety power shut off stuff and they had to reschedule things. California Solar went out of their way to make sure that the project got completed before the end of the year, so that we could take advantage of the energy credit that was gonna change after the end of last year. They even had to finagle some things. Because of some of the schedule changes with PG&E and other stuff, they ended up having to do it in two phases. They installed the panels and signed off on the project being “complete”, so that we could get the energy credit, and then did the electrical panel separately. Since our electrical panel was not good enough to run the panels, they had to file a separate permit and paid for that out of pocket. It didn't come to us to pay that extra expense.

The system officially got turned on the last week of December. We only got a bit of production for four days in December, but it's been running since the first of the year. I can't say enough about the whole process. Even with its difficulties and things that happened that weren't a normal part of the process, it was very good and we're very satisfied with how the whole thing went. We've been recommending not only the SunPower product, but also California Solar to our family, friends neighbors, and anybody who's remotely interested in even considering solar. They took very good care of us. I was telling my wife how much I'm kicking myself that we didn't do this sooner, but we weren't in a position to be able to do that at the time. Still, I wish we had been able to do it sooner because we're immediately seeing the benefits of it right away, and we see how it can benefit us in the long term.

I received an email from Sierra Club saying that SunPower was offering a rebate to Sierra Club members. Because I have had solar in the past on a previous house and I have looked at solar for this house in the past, I thought I would check them out and give them a call. I was pleased with the quality of their components. I did see a few concerns online and I called and asked about that. SunPower was very specific and clear on their response that they had gotten a batch of bad components and they resolved all these issues. They didn't try and pretend that hadn't happened. Going forward with them, they worked with me to help me have the system installed by the end of the year.

There was very good communication and their price was reasonable. In this house, I had gotten quotes from solar companies. Sunrun said, “You don't even use enough energy to make it worthwhile.” They don't want to bother with that because we're conservative. We try and keep our carbon footprint real low even before we had solar. It's only now with the huge increase in PG&E costs that it is cost-effective for us to have solar.

SunPower listened to what I had to say. I wrote a paper in college on solar energy and angle of inclination for solar panels so I have a little more knowledge about it than your average purchaser. Another company I had tried to work with several years ago said, “No, that location won't work. You have to have it here and take out this big, beautiful maple tree you have,” which is worth an air conditioner. It's silly to take up something like that when I have a perfectly reasonable roof. When SunPower looked at that roof, they said, “You're right. That one gets a lot more radiation and it'll be more appropriate for you to use that for your array of collectors."

I'm very pleased with SunPower and I have recommended them. Our church is planning to put solar on this year. They decided to go with a different installer rather than SunPower’s installers but they did listen to me on the quality of SunPower’s components. We’re also converting our garage to an accessible dwelling unit apartment and I will be definitely getting SunPower's components to our current array. I may go with a local installer though because it makes more sense than having a company from two hours away come and install my system.

The sales rep from SunPower was very patient. I called him a lot about the system and he always took my calls. I had 18 panels on originally. I had another 12 and the 12 are the same power supply as the 18. Panel technology has improved so these are more efficient. I may have overpowered the house. If you plug a Tesla into a standard wall outlet, you get about three or four miles per hour increase. If you upgrade that into about a 220 plug, you get 40 miles an hour charge. I thought the way they described it that they were giving me a 40-mile per hour plug in my garage but they didn’t. That’s a little disappointing. But because of COVID and other things, three or four miles per hour charge would probably work. If I had to do it over again, I would have preferred it worked out so that I could have gotten the faster-charging plug.

If you ever need anything from them, please expect it will take at least 5 - 10 phone calls, at least 6 to 8 weeks to resolve, promises of calls back that never take place and repeated lies. Last February (2020) our solar went down due to a part they decommissioned and did not inform us of. In July our electricity bill was $500 so we contacted the company to find out what was wrong. It took until October for them to send someone out for a 15 minute work-order to fix the problem. 4 months of weekly phone calls and promises someone would be out soon. 4 months of 'we'll call you'. 4 months of $400-500 electricity bills for a part they took off line without informing us. 4 months.

They have a performance guarantee that states if your solar doesn't perform as expected, they'll pay you back. Our solar was down for 8 months because of their actions and we are getting just slightly more than $1,000 back. The solar itself costs more than $200 a month and that doesn't even account for the multiple months of $500 electricity bills. The guarantee is a joke to say the least but a $1,000 is a $1,000 so it would be nice to receive.

The report that told me the pittance they would be returning to us came out in November of 2020. I was told on one of my numerous prior conversations that the check would be cut in 4 - 6 weeks. I called in February of 2021. They don't know what I'm talking about and someone will call me back in a couple days. I called again today. The check will be cut in 4 - 6 weeks, just be patient. If nothing ever goes wrong and you never have to deal with this company, I'm sure it's wonderful but it's been 13 months for one issue. Isn't that long enough?

So far, the solar system appears to be paying for itself, although it's not gonna be tomorrow that it gets paid for. Basically, the only thing I'm paying electricity-wise is the PG&E hook-up fee that they charge, which is around 10 bucks a month. Then, they do that thing at the end of the year where they tally up whatever credit you get. But at least the electricity part has turned out good. I even have enough overflow and excess electricity now that I can use the heat pump even in the wintertime instead of gas. Aside from that, everybody that I have interacted with at Freedom Solar had been absolutely amazing. But we had some communication issues. I started the process right before the holidays, so my panels got installed five days before Thanksgiving. Then, we were working through resourcing issues. People were going on vacation and they were also going through a reorg and doing a lot of changes internally, which I understood.

For example, when they were coming to set up my panels, I didn't get any email until the day before, at 4:30 pm, that there wasn't an electrician available in order to set up my power walls. So, my panels were being installed but my whole system wasn't being installed, which is what they would normally do. Had I known three days ahead of time, I would have rescheduled for a time when they could have done everything at one time. It wasn't a huge hassle though and any time I reported a communication problem like that, which happened several times, they were always very reactive to it and on top of it. They also tried to compensate me for the inconvenience. All in all, they were an excellent team to work with and hopefully, they'll get through their growing pains soon.

I wasn't happy with the amount of degradation on the system after the first few years. I knew that it was going to degrade a tad, but I didn't think it was going to be that much. We tried to oversize the system for EV, welding, air conditioning, and all that other stuff. At the time, we didn't really want to overbuild and double. The first year, PG&E paid me 10 bucks. The second year, we had a $600, true-up. The third year, we had the $1,200 to $1,500 in true-up. We were actually out an extra 100 bucks a month to try to help cover that true-up. I was like, "Why give PG&E some money when I can just buy another system?"

We ended up putting a little bit more panels in. I've got a total of 29 panels but I still don't know if that's enough. It's not like we're using the air conditioning every day, or I'm welding or using the air compressor. But the older system that I have was an inverter type, and then the newer one that I just got, which was another company, was microinverters. The only time I had any dealings with SunPower was when we had an outage. I called them and they put me back in touch with Allterra to take care of the issue. If SunPower would drop me another 5 or 10 panels, I'm sure that my scoring would be higher. But then I’m satisfied.

I plan to buy a PHEV and wanted to go solar. After searching several companies and receiving 3 estimates I selected Freedom Solar and SunPower. They have the BEST product and warranty. Freedom Solar kept me informed throughout the process and my system is working GREAT. I'm totally satisfied!

There were two different Sun solar dealers in town that were trying to get the same business. One was definitely better than the other, because the other one was trying to get the jump on the other, which wasn’t done very professionally, the introduction by the second company. Overall, I'm 100% satisfied going solar.

My system has been down for months. Nobody wants to take responsibility for my system. I have been told I am not a customer but their equipment has their name all over it. It is still under warranty and not working. I highly advise that if you want to go solar these guys are not the way to go. The home came with solar as part of the building process. I am open to working with them if they can resolve my problem. But so far nobody will take the initiative. Maybe SunPower’s CEO Tom Werner could facilitate some assistance.

    Response from SunPower

Hello Mark, I'm sorry to hear about your frustration related to failed equipment. Based on your response, it sounds like you may have a product sold by another manufacturer which includes SunPower components. Instances like this require customers to file warranty claims with the manufacturer/company who sold the equipment and not with the manufacturer of the equipment. Please send me a private message if you have additional questions.

I don’t like the WiFi network that I can’t disable. That just gives interference to my own network and provides absolutely no value to me. I don’t like the light on the SunPower box outside my house. I have a Tesla box as well. It’s a good example of a useful phone app compared to the SunPower app.

When I talked to the two gentlemen, they were able to answer most of my questions and I thought I'd give it a try. So far, I've been happy with Sunpower. Last year was a good year. The only thing is when I initially looked at solar panels, I was kind of wishing that there was some way to hook up a backup generator in conjunction with the system. At that time when we installed a year ago, there wasn’t that option. They said that that would cause backfeed into the system and that was why they couldn't do that. But I’ve seen now that some other companies are offering that as an option.

There was a little screw-up getting the dashboards working. For some reason, I couldn't use their dashboard for a while. But they got it cleared up. They were all polite about it. They worked hard at it. It just needed to be cleaned up. I've recommended the Port Townsend dealer to three friends already who asked about it.

I like that SunPower's American-made. The guy came up and he did a great job. He explained everything very well and laid out our options. It took them two days for the whole installation because they had to do some trenching for the piping. We also had pool solar put in so it was a combined install. I'm very happy. My bill for all of 2020 was $18.

SunPower was very upfront. Their salesman was very informative and I didn't have any surprises afterward. They were right on time when they said they were going to be. The crew was very congenial, professional, kept things cleaned up when they left and told me what the next steps would be, contacting our present power supplier and when we could actually connect it up and use it.

I wish I have the ability to store some of the power. Not having a battery backup when the sun goes down or the clouds come in or at night, it doesn't work. You have to use the normal grid. Also, I was a little surprised that if the power goes down, we can’t produce solar. So if they, for some reason, have an outage, the solar won’t produce either. They haven’t figured out a way to do that so we can continue to at least while the sun is shining. But the little issues that came up weren't a deal-breaker for me.

I had done a lot of research and was interested in SunPower solar panels, because of their 35 year history as a dedicated solar manufacturer. I was happy to find that SunPro was a authorized SUNPOWER installer. SunPro highly recommended SUNPOWER panels. SUNPOWER gives bumper to bumper warranty of 25 years for Production and 25 years for the product warranty of the solar panel. I like that the patented SUNPOWER AC panels have the only proprietary factory integrated micro inverter on each panel and has a SUNPOWER 25 year warranty.

Additionally, I like the SUNPOWER Energy Link online monitoring system that I can check from home or on my smartphone. I can always see Production (what my system is producing) and Consumption (what my house is using) on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis. All the communication I have had with SUNPOWER has been supported by professional, knowledgeable and customer oriented representatives. I am very happy with my purchase.

We went with solar to lock in our energy costs for the long term. Jeff Periera Home Energy is the company we selected. They recommended the Sun Power panels and explained how they differ from the competition. I was impressed with their knowledge and hired them to install my system.

Enrolling with SunPower was the easiest thing there was. I tell everybody about SunPower. They have never done us bad. There was a unit that went out. They came out and replaced it for nothing.
