What is Blue Raven Solar?

Blue Raven Solar provides homeowners with a simple and affordable way to get set up with solar panels and storage and own their solar power systems without leasing from a third party.

The company designs a system for your home, obtains permits and installs the components. Most installations are completed in one day. For those with qualifying credit scores, there are no upfront installation costs, and power is free for the first 18 months. Blue Raven claims customers typically save between 10% and 30% off the cost of their monthly utility bills.

Blue Raven Solar uses the latest solar panel technology, including black-on-black, monocrystalline silicon solar panels and Enphase microinverters. All Blue Raven solar plans include a smart thermostat and LED lighting for your home. Blue Raven solar systems come with a two-year service warranty, 10-year workmanship warranty and a solar power production guarantee. Solar panels also typically include a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty. Lastly, Blue Raven provides free system monitoring.

How does Blue Raven Solar work?

A consultant from Blue Raven Solar will talk with you over the phone about your options. Installations are customized to take advantage of the best location for the solar panels and other components. The company also helps with obtaining permits. Once the design is complete and proper permits are in place, installation takes one day in most cases.

The company offers a cash payment option, as well as two financing options: BluePower and BluePower Plus+. The Blue Raven BluePower Plus+ plan is especially interesting, combining the concept of a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the benefits of solar ownership.

With BluePower Plus+, qualified customers pay $0 upfront and get free power for 18 months. The loan agreement lets the homeowner own the solar panel system while paying it off over time and keeping 100% of the power savings. Monthly payments and interest rates do not increase during the life of the loan, and there is no prepayment penalty.

How much does Blue Raven Solar cost?

Blue Raven Solar’s cost varies based on the size of the installation. The company does not provide specific pricing on its website, but potential customers can call or fill out a form to be contacted by a representative for a free consultation and information about pricing.

Qualified customers pay $0 upfront and get 18 months of free solar power. The cost of the system is financed over time with a loan. Monthly payments and interest rates are fixed for the life of the loan.

Customers can also opt to pay cash for the system. In this case, the system is typically paid for in two payments. Blue Raven claims systems pay for themselves within three to five years when paying cash.

I participated in a referral program offered by Blue Raven Solar (now associated with SunPower), which promised a $1,500 referral bonus. I successfully referred a customer and completed all required steps; however, I have not received the referral payment. Additionally, the individual who referred me has also not received their referral payment for over six months.

We (me and someone who referred me both) have been following up since November 2025, and although the company has acknowledged multiple times that the payment is due, it has been repeatedly delayed with assurances that it would be processed “next week.” This pattern of delays and unfulfilled commitments is highly concerning and reflects poor business practices.

      Reviewed March 31, 2026

When we started the process (my husband and I), I clearly informed the seller that the house had only been occupied for about 5–6 months. He assured me that this was enough information to properly size the system. The installation process took an extremely long time. Around a full year. During that time, I repeatedly asked about the system’s capacity and whether it would fully cover our energy usage. The company reassured me again and again that it would be more than enough. I even sent additional power bills showing that our usage increased during certain months. Each time, they told me everything was fine and that I even had a “buffer.” They explained that any extra energy would go back to the power company and be credited for use at night or during low-production periods. They also said the battery system would provide additional backup.

To be extra cautious, I specifically asked what would happen if the system did not cover our usage. I was told there was a warranty in place and that I could call for support if needed. Well, after almost a year later, the system was finally installed and not a single month has it fully covered our usage. Now I am stuck paying two bills: one for the solar system loan and another high bill to the power company.

This experience has been extremely frustrating. I contacted customer service today, and the representative tried to tell me that everything was working fine and that the system was covering “almost everything.” However, my power bills clearly show otherwise. After pushing for a resolution, he finally agreed to submit a service ticket. We will see what happens. At this point, I cannot recommend this company. It feels like they will say anything to make the sale, but the results do not match their promises. My advice: if you don’t want to end up paying two bills, avoid this company.

I had an appointment to have my faulty system repaired in November. When the repair didn't occur as scheduled, I was not contacted to inform me of the situation. Instead, I had to call to be told the repair needed a crew because of the structure of our home. Ever since then, I have been stuck in limbo with no proactive communication from the company. Every time I called for an update, I got the same response: I need to be patient. It has now been months since I first reported the issue.

I previously left a negative review and quickly received an email from Katie on 03/03/26, which promised a review of the situation. Since then, Katie has not responded to two follow-up emails asking for updates. I will be seeking legal advice as this is a clear breach of contract; '...upon notice to Company, Company shall promptly repair, replace, correct the deficiency, and/or agree to an equitable price adjustment.' I regret working with this company.

I'm sorry to say that I am very disappointed in my experience with Blue Raven. $40k in panels and batteries. The full monty. But once installed haven't been able to get anyone to come to the home and teach me how to use the system. I don't even think that it is online and working. My electric bill has hovered near $325 per month, since the system was installed. I've called and emailed to no avail.

Run away!!! The worst experience possible. $ 131000, 23 Kw system. Left with unrepaired wholes in the wall drywall, sinking trenches and pipes sticking out from the ground. Tried to contact them multiple times. Was able to talk to a person by the name Ari once and after that have been ghosted and ignored. Nothing has been repaired. Planning on taking legal action. RUN AWAY from this company, or you will regret!!!

Hi Sergiu, thank you for taking the time to share. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this has been. We want to clarify that repairs are actively in progress: the drywall repair quote has been approved, and the contractor should be reaching out to you shortly, and we are also coordinating for additional trenching work to be addressed. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and are committed to seeing the remaining items resolved. - Katie G.

Signed contract Jun 4, 2025. Panels installed July 23, 2025. We were told no payments until 3 months after panels were activated. September, they pulled a payment. Hours spent on the phone to be told they can't correct the issue but they would "pay us back" the payment. Happened again in October. Mind you, it is now 1/16/2025 and the system is STILL NOT activated. Evergy failed the inspection twice and about 8 weeks after that failed, Blue Raven finally sent someone else out to fix it, but they could not fix it. They blame it on Evergy, Evergy blames it on Blue Raven. Meanwhile I have a panel system that was installed 7 months ago, not activated AND we recently found out that due to poor installation by Blue Raven, the panel system is causing water leaks into my attic space and finally showing water damage on the ceiling below. They were supposed to come remove panels this week in order to repair the roof... no one showed up.

Hi Heather, we’re truly sorry for the frustration and delays you’ve experienced. We understand how concerning this situation has been, especially with the extended PTO timeline and the issues you’ve described. We want to share that we have escalated your case with the utility company, and a meter pull is now scheduled for 2/5. If any payments have been made to your financing provider prior to system energization, those amounts will be reimbursed after energization so you receive the full amount back. Our team is also addressing the installation-related concerns and will continue coordinating next steps. Thank you for your patience, and we are committed to seeing this through. - Katie G.

RUN AWAY!!!! At best, it was a NIGHTMARE. It took TWO YEARS to get our installation, many hand-offs, over 80 hours of my time off of work were wasted on appointments where they never showed up, failed to secure the proper permits, had the wrong tools, their inspector who spec'd the plan failed to be thorough enough, etc. I was treated condescendingly, handed off, ignored, etc. A year after our final billing cleared, "The Ghost of Incompetent Solar Install Companies Past" resurfaced to inform me I had an outstanding bill.

My first response, pointing out that it was an error, was ignored. Because I had SUCH awful dealings with them, I previously insisted they provide stamped 'paid' copies of invoices. Second inquiry, I forwarded their final paid invoice back to them. They apparently don't train representatives to research before asking for payments... SIGH. Sucks to be on the front lines, but worse when your company backstabs you by not training to research issues before contacting customers & looking like an idiot AND wasting people's time. Should they not respond within 5 business days, I will formally request a "Proof of debt." Their lawyers should be aware of how to respond in a legally required timely manner and thus earn their expensive hourly rate.

I truly admire their courage, professionalism, and dedication. The team installed the solar panels in extremely brutal cold weather, where it was almost impossible to stand outside for even five minutes. Despite the harsh conditions, they worked continuously for six to seven hours and completed the installation on time. Very happy and impressed with their commitment and timely execution.
