Bad reactions. I have been giving my dogs Pedigree for years but in the last couple of months my dogs have vomited and losing hair in patches. 2 weeks off pedigree and they are getting better. Something in this product has changed. Please do not give to your dogs.

We just switched our dog's dog foods because she was on a medicine. We didn't know about Pedigree's FALSE dog foods so we gave it to her, but when I came downstairs I smelt poop thinking that it was my brother. But I came to see that my dog Cali was leaning against the cage because there was diarrhea all over her dog bed. My grandmother had the same problem after using this dog food with all 3 of her dogs and all 3 had diarrhea. I would recommend IAMS dog food because that has been very successful with our dog. Also please help me spread out the word, dogs are my fav animal and I would take a bullet to save a dog's life so please spread the word because I don't want any more dogs getting sick or dying.

One of our dogs got sick on Saturday, then the other on Monday. The only thing possibly caused this was their food. Just had bought a new bag of dry Pedigree Adult Chicken and Rice. Both had same symptoms: lack of appetite, diarrhea, and stinky gas. Treated both with ** advised by vet for upset stomach, helped some, still no appetite for current food. Tossed the Pedigree, purchased different brand and they are finally starting to eat some and they seem to be some better. We've been using this food for years and never had this to happen, will not purchase again!

My son recently move back home and brought his fig along. I notice Brody my son's dog was not eating and seem sick. My son was feeding him Pedigree so I tried my dog's food and slowly started eating again. My dog is not a picky eater so I started feeding him the Pedigree. He extremely sick, vomiting, disoriented and has injured his leg from his confusion. I am extremely upset and will be seeking legal advice. I request that full investigation on this product should be done. They are not only Dogs but family members which we love dearly.

Our little one has been on this food from the beginning. Not sure if we got a bad bag, but she had hemorrhagic enteritis, ended up in vet overnight. Got her straightened back out with chicken and rice and meds. Finally got her back on this food. We are now back to pure liquid diarrhea. Vet gave wormer, probiotic, and **. FINALLY got her hardening back up. Started introducing a bit of food mixed with rice and now going back to soft poop with diarrhea. This is the only factor that can be causing this. Will be going back to chicken and rice and tossing her bag of food and switching brands. RECALL IS NEEDED.

Warning, avoid. Making dogs very sick. I always thought Pedigree was a quality digital food, and haven't had problems until recently. After starting this last bag of Pedigree puppy food my 11 month old Carolina Doh has had severe diarrhea everyday. Because it is the same food she has been eating I didn't suspect it was her food, but after eliminating everything else I could think of, I began to research and found out MANY others are having the same problem! Why hasn't this product been recalled??? I am taking it back to the store in the morning. I have been awake all night taking her outside to go to the bathroom, and finding out that this product is actually terrible. Check out the dog food advisor site for how bad it is! It can't really get any worse. I am going to Tractor Supply to get a real quality food, and just hope she survives this.

I recently started feeding my 5 year old Catahoula Pedigree "choice cuts" canned dog food. A couple weeks ago he got very sick. Ran a high fever, experienced diarrhea, and was so lethargic and sick that he couldn't get up to go potty. After examining the can of chicken and rice I thought it smelled bad so I threw it away and bought a different brand. I really was grasping at straws and had to assume it was his food that had sickened him. I immediately changed his canned food and he recovered within 24 hours. A few days ago I again bought the Pedigree canned dog food. He is currently sick and has been for two days. I couldn't figure it out until I happened across the other numerous complaints. A light bulb immediately went off. I'm so sorry for everyone's losses and sickness. My dog Tice and I thank you so much for documenting your trouble. Pedigree has a huge problem and should be held accountable.

I fed my American Bulldog Pedigree dog food from the time I got him at 12 weeks until two years ago after him suffering from severe bouts of diarrhea and bloody diarrhea. I had found in online research customers complaining of metal shards and dogs suffering from the same symptoms. It was then I switched him and our other two dogs to Blue Buffalo grain free after him having to go on a prescription IB dog food until his gut appeared better. I'm writing this heartbroken after having to have him put down two weeks ago, and fully blame Pedigree dog food. Initially after switching to grain free there was temporary cure of his symptoms. And ironically around the same time we had decided to switch dog foods, our Shih Tzu had just overcome HGB and almost lost his life. After four nights in the vet laying listlessly appearing I would never bring him home, he started to show improvement and turned the corner to recovery!

At the time it never occurred to me food could be the culprit. My vet encouraged me it was stress related, although there had been no changes in my home. At any rate, I went grain free with all of my dogs, sadly for my American Bulldog, the oldest of my pack, the damage had been done. His diarrhea stopped temporarily and he gained 7 of the 30 pounds he had lost back then it came back ten times worse. It was uncontrollable, had a stench of death and was terrible! He was placed on antibiotics, probiotics, and steroids which helped stop the diarrhea again. Blood work was done, heartworm, fecal tests, fecal worm tests, only to show he had severe inflammation in the gut and hardening and thickening of his intestines and colon. Radiograph studies showed no masses and his liver function was normal. He completed antibiotics and was weaned off steroids over a month's time.

As soon as the steroids were stopped the diarrhea started again! Back to the vet for the most expensive lab studies I had deferred previously being encouraged it was irritable bowel. One lab test alone was $350, my vet bills exceeded $2,000 and the result was his pancreas was shot, he was not producing the enzymes to absorb the nutrients from his food and due to the constant inflammation his intestines had hardened and thickened to a point of only being able to keep him comfortable and pray the steroids kept the inflammation at bay so he could maintain his weight and hopefully gain a little at a time.

Long term steroid use can cause kidney issues but we never reached that point. It did keep his diarrhea to a controllable point that he could make it outside as he had always done, but it bowel movements never became hard again. He was slowly losing weight and eating 2 cups of food 3 times a day...6 cups of dog food daily and STILL LOSING WEIGHT! After 6 months of steroids, ongoing weight loss he became too weak to go up and down the steps. I agonized over losing my best friend. I accommodated his every need putting an orthopedic bed for him to stay downstairs during the day and one upstairs for the night. I schedule an appointment to have him put down and cancelled, praying upping his steroid dose would help. Two weeks ago I had no choice but to have him put down.

The night before I had to carry him like a baby down the steps to the den and I slept with him for the last time. His healthy weight was 98 pounds...he weighed 59 that morning at his last vet visit when I let him go to be pain free! I fully blame the negligence of Pedigree for his suffering, him essentially starving alive! His will to live had taken on a whole new level, getting in the trash to stop his starving, pulling whole pizzas in the box off the counter and eating them, taking the food you're eating right out of your hand if you weren't looking! This should not be allowed to happen! Animals deserve to be fed food their humans can trust and know isn't silently killing them. I'm lucky I only lost one of my dogs, but am forever scarred by the hell my dog went through.

This food should be pulled from shelves and the company made to compensate the financial burden of owners who tried effortlessly to help ensure their pets got treatment and were saved and for those who weren't lucky enough to ever make it through the irreversible intestinal damage caused by consuming this food! Absolutely disgusted and heartbroken! His pictures show how he lost every ounce of fat and muscle. Him in the dog bed was his healthy weight of 98 pounds, to him at the second onset of his gastrointestinal symptoms, and the final picture taken the night before I had him put down. It was a living nightmare!

In late November 2016 I bought a large bag of puppy food your brand on Amazon. We dumped the whole bag into a Gamma Vault container. And now after many scoops.. We take a long time to use up puppy food, because our mini dachshund only eats about a cup a day. But we have found dog feces mixed in the food multiple times. It is the same coloration as the dog food and at first thought it was a fluke. But now after 6 incidences of finding it, we believe we MUST report this. We cannot afford to replace the bag of food now, so we are filtering it carefully. But the thought that our puppy may have consumed dog feces from your processing plant is highly alarming. Please check into this and we will be checking further on what United States regulations are for your company so we can go to the highest authority with this issue. I have been feeding my chihuahua babies Pedigree puppy for years. Their momma has been eating zero grain because she is allergic to grain and I started them on that because they enjoy it but it is larger and they seemed to eat more of the pedigree puppy and continue to gain more weight at first. Well, we began feeding pedigree puppy chicken and vegetable in the three pound bag and the seven pound bag and they was seeming to be doing okay at first but after about the second day the smallest of the two begin vomiting and did this for at least 12 hours. Very much just brown liquid and a little greenish liquid which was the color of the food. She also started to have explosive diarrhea.

The babies have had their first and second shots and they have been dewormed multiple times and go to vet checks at least once every two weeks and I'm a veterinary technician. I decided to do chicken and rice for a few days and that helped and I also administered anti-diarrheal medicine that also helps with upset stomach. Of course this medication was for canines. I decided after the chicken and rice that we would go back to the pedigree but they wouldn't eat it. At first when they began eating it they ate so much and continue to enjoy it so much they wouldn't even try the zero grain anymore.

After this little runt got sick and the other one got diarrhea and a bit of my own vomiting neither want anything to do with it. They are now eating the zero grain again and I've had no further problems. They are not allergic to grain. We have tested for that and I really do believe that it is due to this chicken and vegetable pedigree food for puppies and maybe even the ones for adults. I've also heard the pedigree canned food is causing issues which I said it first but had no problems and have not fed since.

We introduced our dog to this dog food on 2/23/17 (mixing it in with her old dog food to get her used to it) and it resulted not only in terrible diarrhea, she will not get out of bed. She literally will not get out of bed. I can't even coax her out with a dog treat. Absolutely unheard of. Pedigree? The name implies quality. I don't know what's in this dog food, but we are bringing it all back to the store and saving a can to have it analyzed because I am convinced there is something wholly toxic in it. DO NOT BUY THIS DOG FOOD AND SPREAD THE WORD. My dog has never in her life responded to any food this way, dog or human. She's eaten cat poop for heaven's sake and never had a bad reaction.

We fed our 4 month old Boston Terrier Pedigree puppy food for 3 days. On the 3rd day he began throwing up and had diarrhea. We took him to the vet on a Monday and they couldn't find anything wrong with him and sent us home. I threw away the food and started him on another brand because I suspected something was wrong with the Pedigree. By Wednesday night he could no longer walk and we took him back to the vet. He had a fever and an extremely high white blood cell count. This dog has had all his vaccinations and was previously extremely healthy and energetic. After 5 vet visits he is now on antibiotics and steroids and is trying to walk again. The ONLY thing we did differently was feed him Pedigree dog food.

After reading these reviews stating the exact same symptoms my puppy had I'm convinced something is wrong with this food. I also want to mention that he stopped eating the Pedigree on his own by day 3 but WOULD eat other brands. It was as if he knew something was wrong with the Pedigree food. I would not recommend this food to anyone. If you're low on cash buy Purina or ANYTHING else but this.

A few weeks ago I sent my husband to the store to get dog food. Her regular dog food wasn't available so he came back with PEDIGREE. I fed my dog and later, I happen to notice my dog was acting strange. She was freaking out, her pupils were dilated, she was twitching, her head was moving back and forth. She wouldn't eat or sleep and it wore off after a few days. We had no idea what caused this to happen. When she got her appetite back, her regular food was given to her. I took her to the vet and after running several tests, they could not figure out what was wrong. They suggested that we keep a close watch of her and to keep a daily log of everything she does and eats so that if it happens again, we can narrow it down. So we did just that.

This went on for 2 weeks and she seemed to be fine. We were out of dog food again so I remembered that we still had a few cans of pedigree that my husband bought. We gave this to her and BINGO! That same behavior came back. Right after she ate. This time, she was making grunting sounds along with the tremors. I researched and noticed that this has happened to many other dogs as well. IM SO UPSET AND DISGUSTED! WHY IS THIS PRODUCT STILL AVAILABLE? All it takes is a few complaints about someone having a reaction to some product and its removed so that nobody is put in danger. Why am I reading 890 complaints about a dog food product and nothing is being done. Im outraged!!!

My dog is a healthy 9 year old toy poodle. I always feed him ACana organic dog food. He had many teeth pulled and was recommended he should eat some canned food as needed if he was having trouble with the hard food. I fed him Pedigree Chopped Ground Dinner with Chicken. The next day my 9 lb. poodle exhibited signs of diarrhea, 2am diarrhea and by 6 am bloody diarrhea and 7 am just blood coming out of his rectum.

Animal Hospital opened at 8am and he was still bleeding. By the time the vet saw him he was throwing up blood and also out of rectum. She rushed him back and did many blood test and a specific one for pancreatitis along with x-rays. His blood work showed elevated white and red cells along with other stressors. The vet saw no long-term or chronic issues so stated this was an acute onset. The x-ray showed colon inflamed. Only change he had was this can of dog food.

$700 vet bill and 5 days of IV's and 4 meds later he is still bleeding and I am praying he makes it through this. If he does not get better in 48 hours he is admitted. I only saw these complaints while at the vet's office and believe we are all sharing this to spare others the heartache. I still have the can and would like to have it tested. It is not expired. I truly believe we are all not one big coincidence.

Stop feeding your dog pedigree. (1-13-2017) Zeus has been sick on and off for 2 weeks now. I feel terrible that it took me this long to figure it out. He would get super lethargic to the point I would have to carry him out and hold him up to go potty, vomiting, and diarrhea. I figured he just had a bad tummy ache. So I fed him rice and ground beef, he would come out of it so I would feed him regular dog food again. Same thing would happen. I took away his deer antler chew toy thinking it might be the problem, nope! Come to find out a lot of people have had the same problem because of Pedigree dog food. I called and they acted like this was the first they had heard of it. (1-14-2017) Took him to the vet. He's had a round of different shots, antibiotics, steroids and have him on a different diet. He is still slow moving if he moves at all.

Update as of today (1-23-2017) he is back at the vet. She drew a solo cup worth of blood from his abdomen. And is keeping him for a couple days. He is skin and bones and barely has energy to go outside to go potty. I've sent off a sample of the dog food to a university lab in Michigan. Results will take seven to 15 business days. Hopefully my dog is still alive. If you're having the same problem I would encourage you to join this group on Facebook so we might be able to move forward with getting this dog food recalled.

Thank goodness for this forum. Let me tell you something told me to look up this food... and I'm glad I did. I noticed that a lot of the post was dated just recently Sept 2016. My dog Mazzy has been going through hell since then. It's cost me a lot in vet bills. All test and blood work was negative of course. No obstructions in her body. Yet she suffered with wheezing... fatigue... continual runs which probiotics couldn't help. A lot of green and mucus discharge. Then last Sunday she started spewing blood out of her mouth and nose like a zombie attack. Yet she was still alert. She drank water. It sounded like the blood was in her lungs.

The next day blood and mucus when she finally went potty. Everyone was baffled... until I read this forum. Thanks to this it's early Friday am. Mazzy has made a full recovery and energy I haven't seen in a long while. She's back to her old self. So thank you. You saved my dog's life. As well I posted on Facebook about it and people I know are having the same problem using the same Pedigree food... and their dogs are now recovering. Please get out the word and save these animals lives. *Pedigree chopped beef canned dog food was what Mazzy was eating.

I had ran out of the normal dog food I usually use and saw this dog food on sale so Decided to try it out. I first noticed something wasn't right when one of my dogs vomited all of the food she ate all over my bed. I cleaned up the mess and went to work. I left her in since it was freezing cold outside and I didn't want either of my dogs to get cold. By the time I came home from work there were countless vomit spots and bloody diarrhea piles all over the place. I rushed her to the vet and they had to admit her and immediately put her on fluids intravenously, as she was severely dehydrated. I left her there and went home to find my other dog starting with the same symptoms. So I ran him to the vet. It's now been a full week in the vet's office and at least $5000 in bills to get them past the threshold of death.

They are now home and severely skinny and weak. But they are finally able to hold down food and they stopped bleeding out of their rectums. These dogs are barely 5 years old and the healthiest dogs I've ever owned. They have never been sick and I'm afraid this will forever change their personality and possibly health. They were bleeding from their stomachs all the way down to their colons. The only change they had in their diet was this batch of adult Pedigree dog food. Batch 23100/10736. I discovered this thread today and I'm taking the remainder of the bag into OSU veterinary clinic to have it tested. Pedigree better pray this doesn't prove to be a poisoned batch.

I have used Pedigree for my beagle and lab for a year now... I have bought roasted Chicken and vegetables this month. Opened the bag and my dogs they played with the food and ate here and there. You have to understand that the beagle eats anything and gobbles it down and the lab has a healthy appetite also. 2 days in the lab refused to eat and the beagle starting urinating on the floor which she never ever has done, both were also very thirsty. We would take the dogs out and they would do their business, within 15 minutes the beagle would start urinating in the house again and continue throughout the day and now she just will not eat and lethargic. Husband and I went and bought a different brand of dog food and they both ate, beagle still has urinating problems and lethargic. Will be taken to the vet tomorrow morning for check up.

Like many reviewers I've seen here, our dogs have had similar experiences while eating Pedigree Brand dog food. It began with watery stools, itchy and irritated skin, hairless and even weightless. They are both currently being treated for their skin conditions and weightless. Luckily I think we switched their foods just in time, before anymore damage could be done to them. I've contacted Pedigree about our experience and have yet to hear anything back. I would advise any pet owners to steer clear of this brand and all of its products. Yes, the price is great, but like with anything you definitely get what you are paying for. And in the long run saving a few bucks is definitely not worth it. It's not worth seeing your pets sick and miserable nor is it worth the stress and vet bills you will eventually incur.

Had a very bad experience with the Pedigree Little Champions Variety Pack pouches - UPC 023100272184. picked up a 12 pack from a local national chain store, with a noted expiration (best before) of 10/2017 with codes 633 B2 4JC0 8 19 15 229-00... Gave our dog one of these for his nightly meal. The following day he was so sick with throwing up and diarrhea that we were concerned he might not survive. Since we had also allowed him to have a couple of pieces of our own food as a treat (popcorn), we thought that might have been the issue. By the end of the day, he had recovered enough that he was willing to eat dinner, so we gave him one of his regular meal products (NOT Pedigree) and all seemed good.

The next day, all was good and he was very near normal... then last night once again, let him have one of the Pedigree Variety pack packets and today the cycle started all over again. Extreme vomiting and diarrhea again and very lethargic. Refused to drink anything or eat. Contacted the vet and found out there were NUMEROUS complaints against Pedigree for this very same problem, and not just locally, but globally. Have been told that the Pedigree quality is horrific and it is anyone's guess as to what is actually in the products.

The label on the box says "NEW Improved formula." Needless to say, Pedigree has seen the last of our dollars, and I fully intend to have a heart-to-heart with the management of the national chain that is selling the product. If, after making them aware of the problem they choose to continue to sell it, they become just as culpable for any damages caused and would be a party to any class actions that may ensue... From the looks of the ongoing complaints, there will be no shortage of plaintiffs for such a case.

The ingredients are poor and the additives are an absolute disgrace. I wrote and article on both of these brands that went viral in the UK as still is very current today as we hear of these horrific reactions to a food that should be good for dogs not fatal. It is worth understanding what Pedigree and Bakers actually put in their food, so you can fully understand the concerns that I have as a professional behaviourist. **.

They didn't work and he continued to lose weight and have panic attacks multiple times a day. His bloodwork, pee, and stool sample came back negative for anything. We then thought he had Addison's disease which cost me $265 to check. He was negative for that.

Then we thought it was a tape worm (they usually don't show on all the above mentioned tests), we did two rounds of dewormer and still nothing. That is when it occurred to me to switch his food to a better brand and grain free. What do you know - he put on 9 pounds in about a week and a half and his panic attacks have decreased to almost none. I urge everyone to throw this food out and never give it to their animals again.

They are between 4 and 12 years old and have eaten other Pedigree products occasionally over the years with no problems. It HAD to be this food that caused the illness because they are leash-walked lap-dogs who all got sick within hours of me opening this new bag of food and feeding it to them. (The only new event that they all have in common.) So sorry to read about the pets who died after eating this product.

I tried giving them rice and boiling chicken, ** as antibiotic, ** to alter the diarrhea, and lowering the fever with cool towels. My dogs became lethargic, eyes dilated, bloody watery stool with a foul smell worse than something died, no appetite, vomiting foamy clear fluid They would drink water but would vomit it up within an hour or less, and would have bowel movements on themselves while laying down. They both were brothers and one of them became so weak till he could not move at all and his mouth was purple. They were non responsive to my calls as they are sweet, energetic babies and I've had them since birth.

We are hoping that the dogs do not have any lingering health problems.

I have (had) 3 dogs. I have had other dogs through the years and for many, many years fed Pedigree dry dog food (puppy and adult) to my dogs with great results. This past December 2015 my Blue Heeler totally stopped eating and I ended up at 3 different vets without truly finding out what was wrong with her. Liver and kidney failure were obvious...she died in February 2016. Shortly after the Heeler became ill, the Border Collie began having breathing issues and shortly afterwards...so did the Jack Russell. I have always trusted Pedigree but I have decided to move my dogs off Pedigree...was even feeding them some can Pedigree to coax them to eat. I now have a new pup, a Rhodesian Ridgeback. I am switching, as of yesterday, to Victor Dog Food. Victor Dog Food is more expensive than Pedigree, but a sick dogs' vet bills are more. Plus the anguish of caring for a very sick dog is heartrending.

My Blue Heeler was only 4 years old, as is the Border Collie. The Jack Russell is 11 years old. I will be watching to see if Pedigree does indeed have a problem with their products and see if there is a class action lawsuit. And company producing food for human or animal consumption needs to be very diligent to catch contaminated ingredients. Glad I found this forum. I kept watching DogFoodAdvisor.com to see if Pedigree had a recall. Nothing that I've seen so far. Maybe it's not their products but I have a dead pup and 2 others who are sick. Sounds like several other people around the country having sickness with their dogs as well who have been feeding Pedigree.

On June 8, 2016 we first fed our Lhasa Apso a portion of canned Pedigree Chicken and rice, while our Eski ate a different brand and flavor. The next day our Lhasa became very sick with bloody explosive diarrhea, while at the same time we fed our Eski a portion of the same food the Lhasa had the day before. Later on that night our Eski also became seriously ill with the same symptoms. We have since been following directions from the vet in order to try and get them through this.

Today is June 13, 2016 and it has been 5 days since our Lhasa first got sick. She still has diarrhea but is no longer bloody and she is starting to get her appetite back. Our Eski, who is a bigger dog who ate a larger portion has been sicker and is having a harder time recovering. After reading all the recalls and complaints, not of just Pedigree but of all the dog food companies in general, I no longer trust any of them and will be feeding my dogs homemade dog food for now on. At this point in time, I can only pray our two girls will make a full recovery.

He's started being extremely restless, acting like he has a urinary problem, little blood on rectum, diarrhea, stomach problems, whining, running like about to die. Took him off that food for 24 hrs. and he started acting like old self. Gave him a half can this evening and problems started again. I think something serious is wrong with the food. It needs checked cause our dog was about to die from it. There is something wrong.

My dog has always slept on my bed. We changed her over to Pedigree wet dog food because she simply won't eat any brand of dry food. We noticed she began wetting the bed, just a small spot here and there then it grew out of control. No matter where she laid down her bladder leaked. It was to the point we tried medications to no avail and the vet suggested surgery to check for deformities that may be causing it. We wanted to think about it. We decided to try some things first. We continued doggie diapers just to protect bedding, flooring, and furniture as well as pads on the places she laid down in case the diapers leaked.

We started 1st by changing her diet. We removed all Pedigree products first as this was the earliest change we could remember when the issue began... within days... DAYS... the urinary leaking STOPPED completely! Just to be sure 6 months with no leaking we gave her some canned Pedigree country stew. She liked them all but this was her favorite... SHE PEED OUR BED, THE FLOOR, AND THE COUCH>>> everywhere she laid down. Needless to say she has never gotten another can and never will. Save your pet from this. Save your flooring and your furniture! She gets some Pedigree treat and does not have this issue but all brands of wet food in gravy cause issues for her.

Then she begin to have diarrhea and started vomiting. She begin very weak to the point she couldn't hardly stand, and when she did at times she would stagger. On day two she threw up all thru out the night. I went days with getting the proper rest because I had to be up all night with her. Day three I took her to the vet. After testing her for parvo and heartworms they couldn't find nothing wrong with her. They gave her a shot to bring down the fever and antibiotic pills.

When I made home she threw up 3 more time and the last time she threw up blood. I had to wet a towel with cool water and rub her fur and also place a wet towel under her armpits every hour to keep her fever under control. She has went 7 days without eating a single thing. Today she ate her first meal (boiled chicken and white rice). Also she had her 1st bowel movement in a week although it was black and still in loose. That's because it's old blood that was in her intestines from not having bowel movements in a week. She almost died but by the grace and mercy of God she is still here. I rescued my dog when he was 10 months old, back in 2010. My dog Joey was part chihuahua and mini pin. Joey was my baby and as such I took special care in his food and health. I have fed him nothing but Pedigree dog food. Last October 2015 I woke up to take him outside for a potty break, he could not even stand on his 4 legs. I had to carry him outside and hold him up while he did his business. This concerned me that I rushed him to the vet, they did tests on him and guess what? Liver failure, he was at 8% liver function. According to the vet, his liver failure was brought on by poisonous toxins.

They wanted to do IV infusions of steroids to bring up his liver function, I didn't have a $1000 to do this, so she gave him a steroid shot and sent him home with pills. Joey died that night, he was 5 years old. Now you're probably thinking, "Why didn't I have the money to have this treatment?" I had pet insurance but apparently it was not the higher pet insurance that covered hospitalization and treatment. As far as the poisoning, Joey only went outside with me, he was always supervised and I have nothing in the home that was toxic. So you tell me what poisoned my baby?

I grabbed a small bag to make it through a day or two until I could get his normal food. Our dog eats anything and everything. He's had diarrhea when sick before but overall was fine (can't say the same for my floors). I noticed even though I knew he was really hungry he wouldn't really go near the food. I thought probably b/c my husband was away. A day later I noticed he finally had eaten some of the food. The next morning a little more. After consuming not more than 1.5 cups in less than 24 hours we came home to poo and pee all over and he was barely able to stand. Wouldn't take any treats or any other food.

We had a new nanny start that day and he didn't even get up to bark at her. This is a dog who will not let people in the door without barking their ears off and clawing them to death. Worried he was just old and maybe dying we called the vet and told them how he was lethargic, slow heavy breathing, barely able to walk or stand, and not taking any food...peeing right where he lay!!! They told us to ride it out through the night. The next morning he wasn't as bad, by the night he was more himself and 3 days later he's back to the 12-year-old puppy we know and love. This is nuts! He literally eats everything my kids drop on the floor, he will claw through the pantry door to get the scraps of a rotisserie chicken, he chews through the plastic to get my kids' yogurt and cereal. Never has he ever been like this. Stay away from that food!!! I'm trying to figure out where I can take it to have it tested.

My rottweilers developed bloody diarrhea, like pure BLOOD, loose stools and gas. I thought that the grains in the dry food may have been part of the problem. I changed to grain free flavors, and thought that things were OK, but the bloody diarrhea continued. I stopped the Pedigree supplementation, and they have been fine since. I think that Pedigree causes the intestine to ulcerate.

There are so many flavors and a different one every day, and the effect takes 24 hours to develop, so I am not sure which flavors cause the problems. Beef in gravy and the chicken in rice seem to be bad. The chihuahuas have never had any difficulty. I am going to stop feeding Pedigree. The confusing thing is that there was nothing on the label that would seem to be allergenic, so I didn't at first suspect the canned food. I hope that there are no permanent damages. Not completely positive but all else checked out so I blame this food, especially after seeing all these reviews. I typically fed my dogs Rachel Rae Nutrish or Beneful, sometimes Purina. Well I found Pedigree Adult chicken formula, 55 lb bag, at Sam's Club, Bridge St. in Syracuse, NY. I am a new member and had just visited Nov. 7 and found that last bag at $14.99, a great price.

My 3 yo Labradoodle male dog got sick (vomiting about six times) four days later, over the period of about a week. I brought him to the vet 3 days after the vomiting began; he was interested in eating and walking but not eating and was very lethargic and losing a lot of weight. He was dehydrated from the vomiting and had an infection for which he was treated. No fever.

Well, $650 and, even worse, much worry later, I really feel he got food poisoning from this food, which he was just introduced to cold, and nothing else was wrong...everything normal in his vet exam including blood work. Either he had the flu (which can occur in dogs I've discovered, and there is a vaccine) or it was this horrid food.

Did not find this particular batch on the recall lists but perhaps, since it came from a warehouse store, it was stored for too long or in damp places? It was the last bag, or was it put back on the shelf in error? I'm distrusting of not only Pedigree now, but Mars Co., which makes it. I purchased a small bag of vet intestinal formula, and guess what? Mostly corn and grain. $20 for a small bag sold only at vet's.

I mentioned the possible food change to the vet but they did not seem concerned. They said they would have expected him to get ill sooner than 4 days after. I emailed to tell them about the Pedigree recalls and issues but have not heard back. Well, I was going to switch vets anyway, and I really trusted this vet for about 12 years. That's another story altogether.

He woke up Thanksgiving completely better! Bottom line, it took Jimmy nearly 3 weeks to reach normality again and I'm thankful it was not something foreboding (his mom had cancer at 2) or chronic like Addison's. For that time period it was just painful seeing him and not knowing what was going on! He and our whole family suffered so much, so many tears and prayers...and now I'm just feeding him this great five-star food from Tractor Supply Co. (Canyon Taste of the Wild, I tried beef) and mixing in rice and turkey or chicken. He's getting spoiled and getting special meals from me, his new nutritionist.

It was horrible, I tell you. He was so skinny and we were so worried, especially since there were no other bad signs medically. I'm happy he is better than normal and that this is over; he did not have anything long lasting. But I'm completely disgusted and horrified with Pedigree and Walmart/Sam's Club. I bought a bag of dry dog food at Walmart a couple of years ago, opened it, and it very clearly contained a lot of mold!! Yes, storage is important. But this responsibility should start with the manufacturer, warehouses, and stores. Not surprised about Walmart anyway, the way they treat their employees.

I'm so relieved our Jimmy is much better, but pay heed folks. Check the labels (first ingredient should be meat or fish not grain or corn fillers) and recalls. Buy from health food or specialty stores like a tractor store. Definitely subscribe to recall alerts! Canyon is my new brand, and also, canned foods by 4Health (still have to try their dry too). I also mix in a little coconut oil, which I have learned has many benefits. Good luck guys and sorry about all the sad stories. :-(

There was no way to save my best friend and fur baby. I had to have him put down because the vets said his levels were so ridiculously high that he couldn't be saved. I am so completely devastated. I am telling anyone who will listen to never ever use pedigree. I am no longer using it, and keeping very close eye on other dogs. Something needs to be done about this before more furbabies die! My vets all said this has happened a lot with pedigree.

After buying the usual large bag of Pedigree Dog food, I noticed my one dog turning away from the food. He is a hardy eater, and this was apparently a sign something was wrong. But I dismissed it for something else like maybe parasites. His condition worsened in less than a day and by the time the vet looked at him, the bacteria had grown rapidly in his GI tract. He did survive with appropriate action and medication. Now that he is getting back to normal, I have noticed my other dog having a lack of appetite. Has to be the dog food! I have always fed Pedigree for the last 15 years and never had a problem. This only makes me more confused about this. There is something different in the chunks, so another dog food will be used instead.

I bought the Pedigree canned dog food for my older Yorkie because he was having problems chewing his IAMs dry dog food. The same day I fed him the canned food he got extremely sick. Diarrhea with blood and mucus, vomiting, lethargic. I thought we were going to lose him. I stopped feeding him the food, took him to the vet and we had to put him on antibiotics and rice and chicken dinner ($150 vet bill, thanks Pedigree). Since taking him off the Pedigree he is much better. My vet recommends only feeding Science Diet. There is something definitely wrong with the canned dog food that Pedigree has made. Please do not think that I am "picking" on the Pedigree brand, because that is not my intention! I am simply giving you the facts and hoping you take something (knowledge) away from this and pass the info along so more people are aware of the hidden dangers of buying some of the "cheapest" dog food. Well, about 8 months ago, I was sitting downstairs about, maybe 1:30am and I heard my dog (Ebore is his name) throwing up upstairs and all I thought is, "OH MY GOD MY CARPET!" So I run up the stairs and see him trying to throw up but nothing is coming up. I urge him out the front door and into the yard and he continues to try throwing up, but nothing is coming up. I tell him, "it is ok," reassure him I am there and run to get him some water.

For about 5 more minutes, he tries to throw up but all that is happening is he is draining all of his energy that he is using trying to throw up. And at this point he can hardly stand up. I look at him and I see this..."help me" look in his eyes. The only problem is he is 180 pounds and there is nothing I can do to help him. And then I actually see what is going on, he is having a hard time breathing. I don't know if there is something stuck, he can't throw up or what the deal is. But I saw the look in his eyes and I ran into the house and called my husband at work (he works the night shift) and told him that, "there is something wrong with the dog. I don't think he can breathe very well. I NEED you to come home..." It takes him about 20 minutes to get home.

I'm not going to go into everything else that happened after that phone call but when my husband pulled into the driveway, Ebore was gone, he died about 10 minutes before he got there. And here I was in the house crying, I could not even go out there after he died. I felt so helpless and I did not know what caused it or why it was happening. I called the 24 hour emergency vet to see what our options were for taking Ebore in. My husband put a blanket over him and one under so that we could both lift him into the car and took him in. When we got there the 2 people at the vet went out and got Ebore on a stretcher and brought him in. They gave us a couple minutes to say good bye, which Brad did and I could not bring myself to do. The vet asked me how he was behaving right before he died and I told her what happened. She went in to look at Ebore and came back out with a packet of papers and handed it to me.

Vet said, "I know how and why he died and if it makes you feel any better there was nothing you could have done to help him. Even if you knew what was going on and got him in right away it would have been at least $4000.00 for the surgery, and we can not guarantee that we could have saved him. Apparently, No one knows what causes it and no one is sure how to prevent it. "Bloat", as it is commonly called, is a condition technically known as gastric dilation/volvulus, or GDV, which at first seems and is, similar to stomach gas. The abdomen becomes enlarged and distended, and the dog shows signs of discomfort pacing, salivating, whining and trying to throw up. At this stage, a dose of Mylanta Gas, Gas-X, or any product containing simethicone may help by breaking up any gas bubbles.

Not every case is extreme, and the problem may go away, but if it does not, or gets worse, it becomes a medical emergency. If the abdomen continues to swell, the pressure on the organs, especially the heart and lungs, can reduce the blood flow to the heart and spleen, damaging both organs and leading to cardiac arrest. In some cases the stomach can burst, causing peritonitis. A vet can insert a tube into the stomach to relieve the pressure, but you have to get the dog there fast. And that assumes the stomach has not flipped. In the most serious stage, the stomach rotates partially or a full 360 on the ligaments that support it. Now the clock is really ticking. The esophagus is closed off, as is the duodenum, the upper intestine, and there is no way to release the pressure.

A major vein that passes through the stomach is pinched, cutting off blood to the stomach and other organs, leading to tissue damage and destruction. Worse, blood to the heart is reduced drastically, and a heart attack is imminent if surgery to correct the problem and repair the damage is not done soon. At this point, even surgery may not save the dog. Bloat, is the number two killer of dogs, after cancer, yet many, if not most dog owners are not familiar with it or aware how serious a problem it is. There is no direct cause and effect with this problem, such as a bacteria or virus that a vet can treat with antibiotics or vaccinate against. Bloat is usually the result of a combination of factors that might have no effect on most dogs, but can bring about a life-threatening situation in others.

Owner awareness of the problem is the first step in preventing its occurrence. Food and exercise are not always the problem. Some dogs experience bloat with none of the risk factors being present. The most common age at which dogs get bloat is between 4 and 7 years; younger dogs have a lower risk and older dogs a somewhat higher one. The most common time that dogs get bloat is between 2:00 and 6:00 AM, 7 to 10 hours after eating and while the owner is sleeping. What should a dog owner do? First and foremost be aware. Know the risk factors, and if your dog fits the profile for higher risk, make the changes that will reduce the risk. Know the symptoms of bloat so that you will recognize them if they are present. And most important, know what to do if you suspect that your dog may be experiencing bloat.

If you have a large male dog that gulps his food, drinks lots of water after eating, and likes to play actively after eating, you may want to make some changes in his routine. Feed smaller portions two or three times a day, limit water after eating, and prevent vigorous activity for at least two hours after eating, crating the dog if necessary. If you are not already using a premium food, consider switching to one. A few years back, it was suggested that high risk dogs be fed from elevated dishes. After observation of the results, it is now thought that raised dishes increase the risk of bloat and should not be used."

Type "bloat in dogs" on a search engine and you will have enough reading material to last a long time. After this whole ordeal, I am not sure what the exact thing was that triggered it, and at this point it would not matter to me. I know that I lost a very beautiful, full of life, dog that meant the world to me. If you take ANYTHING away from this please take this one simple step you can do to know if your dog's food could be one of the things that could be a trigger for it. I took a handful of my dog's food and put it in a big mixing bowl, and put water in the bowl to fill it 1/2 full and left it sit for 6 hours. When I came back to the bowl of Pedigree dog food, I didn't need to say anything, I took one look at it and realized exactly what happened to my dog. I will NEVER try to save money on dog food again, it REALLY is true that you get what you pay for!! Just try doing it with your dog food and see what happens.

I have since switched to another brand that does not have corn in it, and his poop is now a healthy, solid, darker-colored poop. And his eyes do not produce nearly as many eye-boogers. I am very disappointed in my experience with Pedigree. I don't like that they try to pass their product off as natural and healthy for dogs, when a lot of dogs are sensitive to that much corn in their food. Heck, a lot of people would sensitive that much corn product in their food.

He would come to life when he saw that he was about to get a can, and his whole back end would wag. I could tell he liked the taste. It has almost a wet taco meat type texture, and he liked it poured over his dry food. I've been buying pedigree small breed dog food for years. About 8 to be exact. Just in the last month I've noticed a big difference in my animals. I have 3 chihuahuas. One 13 years, the second 10 years and my youngest at 4 years. My pups all started showing signs of fur loss. Like I literally could have filled a pillow with their fur. No joke. But this week really scared me. Molly (my youngest) displayed flu-like characteristics. Loose/runny stools, vomiting, and extreme urination starting on Thursday. She is normal happy, healthy, and bouncy (receiving the nickname "Mexican jumping bean") so I figured okay she might have the flu. She didn't want to eat on Thursday which I figured it's from the flu. But she was still drinking water. Okay good right? Wrong, Friday morning all water drinking ceased and she decided she wanted to sleep more often and couldn't control her urine output or vomiting. And her stools became even more runny.

I figured okay if she still isn't okay in the morning I will take her to the vet. Well Saturday morning rolled around and Molly was worse. Not wanting to get up and started producing an odor through her mouth and outside her fur. (Very concerning for me) So I took her in to our vet. And he immediately got worried after running a bunch of tests including parvo and admitting her into intensive care and put her in an incubator to bring her core temp up, I was given results this morning that she is in acute renal and liver failure. He told me today it's s good thing I brought her in yesterday. She was on the verge of dying. Scared the hell out of me. He told me today that though she eating a little bit today he wanted another day of intensive care with her.

This bill started at $260 is now inflating and now I have to get my boys levels checked. Which is another $200 I'm looking at by the time I can take her home on medicine/enzymes, new food, and getting the boys checked about $1,000 and I am a single mom on a limited budget. No amount of overtime that I am working now is helping this. What does it take to have to stop this cruelty? Because that's exactly what it is that pedigree is doing. Animal cruelty and anguish on families (Hearing my daughter cry and also fighting my own tears is hard.) Who can we contact about this issue? What can be done? Legally I think that pedigree should be paying all of these fees and the lifelong care of my little girl whom is otherwise normally healthy! I am an outraged fur baby mama!

As a point of interest we lost a westie in May. She wouldn't eat - had to hand-feed her. Liver/kidney failure. She was in perfect health? Now our lab and 3 westies are refusing to eat it. DIARRHEA. HOW DO YOU REPORT BAD FOOD? Can't afford vet bills. Getting my dogs off this stuff. Hope it's not too late. I'm notifying the news, taking the food back to Costco. Put in halt chicken flavor 50 lbs. My dog began having severe diarrhea, including pooping large amounts of blood and vomiting. He was rushed to an emergency vet. He needed IV meds overnight and nearly died. When I went to the pedigree Facebook page to get company info to contact, I was shocked to see hundreds of posts in the last month, all the exact same thing!!! Where is my consumer protection? Pedigree, when I spoke with them claims the wires in my dogs food are pig hairs? They had a formula change etc. I am outraged! What can I do to get this product pulled off shelves! I still have dog food here! As proof.

Both of my dogs got deathly sick within 2 hours of each other. My dogs have been eating Pedigree canned dog food for more than 2 months. After I fed them out of a new can BB 060417 21 2 523GKKCC 2046CM Chopped Combo with Chicken, Beef, and Liver for breakfast, by 3 PM same day one dog started throwing up and having diarrhea and then within 2 hours my other dog had same reaction. I held food from them for 24 hours and introduced plain chicken and boneless skinless chicken breast. However they continued with the diarrhea for a week. Three days after they got sick they both stopped eating for two days on their own. After 5 days and they got no better, I took them and samples of their diarrhea to the Vet. The Vet advised there was seeds in their diarrhea. No parasites or anything found.

My dogs are tiny. Yorkie 3 lbs and Chihuahua 6 lbs and are always indoors except for when I walk them on a leash. There was nowhere for them to get seeds. So, with that being said the only thing they ingested was the Pedigree Canned Dog food prior to this mysterious illness. That was on 9-4-15 and today 9-15-15 is the first normal bowel movement my dogs have had. The Vet put them on Metronidazole to treat whatever was going on since he could not tell what kind of seeds they were.

After a $200+ vet bill to find "nothing" wrong with her that they could find. She didn't get sick for the 2 days that she was on special wet food & meds from the vet. She turned up her nose at the Pedigree for 2 more days & then she ate Pedigree again today & threw up several times. Worse than the 5 days of sickness before I took her to the vet. I have nothing else to contribute her illness to. So I will be going to the store today to get a different kind of dog food. Several days later he and our boxer bulls began eating grass every morning and would occasionally vomit. This past Saturday our female boxer bull was covered with red bumps, blisters on her mouth, face and body. I immediately started her on a rice and boiled chicken diet and benadryl. Today is Wednesday and she is better but they are all still lethargic. We have stopped the Pedigree. The chicken flavor is no good and making dogs very sick. As he was acting fine and drinking and being as energetic as usual, I placed him on a 12-hour starvation with only water and then placed him on a chicken and rice diet, to then go onto Chappie chicken and rice to settle his stomach. After a week, he seemed to get better and there was no evidence of mucous in his stools so we decided to introduce Pedigree again as we had just bought in bulk 24 cans! With only 25% Pedigree, the mucous came back with even more of a vengeance and I have now got him booked in with the vets. Looking at other reviews, I have now realised it's not the dog and it's in fact the dog food that we TRUSTED Pedigree to give our beloved pet. I hope they do something about it, even going back to an old recipe. But at least recall any new batches.

My dogs were reluctant to eat the new food, but I assumed it was because they were transitioning. Within a short period of time, my 14 year old Scottie, who had been in EXCELLENT health, started acting differently, lost weight, began vomiting, and stopped eating altogether. My parents gave us their almost full bag of Pedigree Adult Food that they had left over and so we fed that to Arya (almost 2 year old Husky) and Max (5 year old Australian Shepard). They seemed to like it so we kept them on the same brand but switched to large breed. They had a harder time chewing it so we switched them back to the original food. During all of this they both had loose stool and got sick more than they normally do. I found out about the "wires" in the food this past week and checked our bag and sure enough the whole bag was covered in them! I returned the bag (which they had been eating from for 5 days) and switched them back to Purina.

Last night I witnessed one of the most horrific things in my life. Arya had a seizure! She has been to the vet SEVERAL times in the past 4 months due to having puppies back in April and annual shots and each time has gotten a clean bill of health. She is not even 2 years old yet and has never had any health concerns! She got sick before the seizure and seized for over a minute. When she came out of it she had no control over her urination, had no recognition of Max or me, and kept running away from us, low to the ground and diving into it sideways, and into our fence. She stared me down and growled at me. She has NEVER growled at anyone. I honestly was terrified, for I had no idea what she was going to do next.

After reading all of these complaints and horror stories of other dogs being so sick, having seizures, and even worse, dying, I am so livid and heartbroken! This company isn't doing a damn thing about any of it! They are saying these "fibers" are cow and pig fibers - made up of who knows what?! At 6 months old which was this month, we transitioned her to Pedigree Dry Adult Nutrition 20.4lb bag. She was ok for the first few days, then started developing vomiting, not wanting to eat, or even drink water. She was very lethargic and weak and barely wanted to move. She ended up passing away and it was horrible. It looked like she was in so much pain and ended up bleeding out.

Had fed my dogs (15 yr old chocolate lab, 11 yr old pit mix) this food since they were puppies. We lost the lab last year following a few bouts of bloody diarrhea of which the vets were unable to determine cause. My pit, developed a lump on her lip a few weeks later and was treated with steroids and something like Benadryl. Symptoms somewhat resolved but never completely went away, monitored it for changes. Switched vets last year and took pit for a check-up, mentioned the lump and he also said to keep an eye on it.. biopsy if it gets worse. Can't say when I purchased another bag of food but my poor girl has had nothing but problems and vet visits for lump on her lip, scratching her face, constant panting and gastro problems over the past six months or so. Vet visits, a med and boiled chicken and rice diet, and then return to her regular Pedigree food.

In June I saw blood in her stool and freaked out, lip swollen again, scratching at face and her eye red and irritated. Back to vet, no parasites, no tumors. Meds for everything and give bland diet. No more symptoms. Return to Pedigree food 10 days later, blood in stool again. Back to vet, meds, bland diet. No more blood. Have not given her the Pedigree food in approximately 3 weeks and ALL SYMPTOMS ARE GONE, NO MORE BLOOD, SWOLLEN LIP DISAPPEARED, eye problem cleared up also.

I honestly never attributed any of this to the food since they had both eaten it all their lives. Vets ask "Have you changed her food" thinking it was a change in diet. I did not change food, but apparently Pedigree did. Now it makes total sense since the change in formula and so many other dogs are having the same problems and by removing the Pedigree from her diet she has remained symptom free for the most part, still has increased panting. I wonder if my lab was a victim of whatever is wrong with this food. I, unfortunately, will never know the truth.

We moved farther away from our local Walmart that sells our brand so we decided to purchase the 50 lb. bag to save on the longer trips to the store. BIG mistake. Our dog started throwing up the first night he ate it and every time since. We thought maybe he was getting into something outside that was making him sick so we started going out with him to see what he was getting into. He didn't get into anything at all. So after we came in and he ate, a short time later while in bed I felt something wet on my side. I turned the light on and there was this pile of puke all over me!

That's when I realized it had to be the dog food making him ill. So today I decided to check out Pedigree's website and there it was, people all over the place feeding the same dog food to their pets and getting sick. If Pedigree has known about this, how can they keep putting out the same contaminated foods? Hasn't anyone in that company any heart? People's pets are getting very sick. Stop it, stop it now!! At first, I wasn't sure if it was the dog food until I gave them a few pieces to eat and they vomited not long after. They didn't even want to touch the food for a whole day. I even opened up another pedigree bag to check if they will eat it. They just smelled the food and ignored it. I know they're hungry since it has been a whole day, after they vomited, without any food in their stomach. There is something in this new meatier recipe that's making them sick. I will return a couple of bags back to Walmart for a refund. Pls. look into this matter. 1bag has Best By 07 09 16 /528F2OKCO12001; the other bag has Best By 06 24 16/526E10KC010823 for your info. My dog is 12 now and I have fed her the same dog food this whole time. Butchers Stew. Since the new improved formula she will not eat it anymore. She has eaten it after I add burger to it but she now won't quit scratching and losing her hair. She's in good shape but I have to switch her food. Jack Russell. Not happy with change. I know it's that new formula because I found a box of the old stuff and she ate it right up. As soon as I put out the new she barks at it and won't eat. Very sad because she means the world to me and my family.

I have a sweet little boxer mix that ideally should weigh 50-55 lbs. She was on the old formula without issue--active, inquisitive, and silly just like a boxer should be. Once the formula switched, she did a complete 180. We tried to stick with it, we just thought she was acclimating to the food slower than normal. She's become neurotic, scared. She curls up on the bed and shakes herself to an uneasy sleep. The diarrhea comes and goes but she always strains to do her business. A rash appeared on her nose and face, and she's dehydrated but shows very little interest in water. Weight has been falling off of her. She whines for apparently no reason, and never had before. Now that I see how many others are having similar issues, we're immediately switching to a different brand.

In the last month I purchased the Adult Complete dog food for my Pooch. Over the course of several weeks he has shown the signs of little bumps growing under his skin. The first of which is the size of a nickel, flat. He has chewed on it. Took him to the vet. We first thought it was an allergy to the grasses. Treated with a topical steroidal cream no change. In the last three days I realized the bag I have been feeding him from is not like the previous bags. I immediately went to the grocery store and bought a different brand without the chicken flavor and the green color kibbles. It's amazing as to how fast he has improved. Whatever Pedigree had done to the Food is BAD. Ensure you let your Vet know what food you are using. It is criminal that a pet owner and the critter have to endure the stress of a company's action.

Currently I am having to clean up puke from my dog for 3 hours. I have a 5 yr old Newfoundland cattle dog and has been having nausea, puking and eating grass. Pedigree you need to stop making dog food, you are harming and killing animals. Mars cut ties with Pedigree. I hope she will be better by tomorrow morning since she did puke up the non digested Dentastix.

I bought one of your bags of dog food and have been using Pedigree for a while now for my dog. This one had vegetables in it which looked just like colored dog food. The dog food did not agree with my dog at all and he has pooped all over my house. Now I have to throw this huge bag of food away and go spend money on another bag of food that does not have vegetables in it. Could Pedigree quit making this kind?

Purchased Pedigree from Walmart in Saratoga Springs, NY and my Bullmastiff has puked from eating this garbage. I thought perhaps it was a fluke until she puked after finding a stray kibble a few days later and barfed again. This product is CRAP. Do not cut costs in purchasing this garbage food as it will cause healthy dogs to puke and crap all day.

Been feeding our large dog pedigree for a couple months now and she is totally broken out red with a rash all over her belly and private. Now all the hair on her back is gone from her constantly chewing and she does not want to eat, is not active anymore, and eats a lot of grass as though she has a belly ache. HELP!!! What to do now?? I must stop feeding her Pedigree. It has to be the only thing that's doing this to her!!! I do not recommend Pedigree on any of your pets!!! Beware!!! :((

Three years ago, we adopted a Husky/Malamute mix from Capital Humane Society in Lincoln, Nebraska. They had been feeding him Purina at the shelter, but we switched him to Pedigree Large Breed Nutrition. He happily ate that for three years. Then early this year, we noticed that there had been a change in the recipe and overall look of the food. It said "new meatier recipe!" and some of the food chunks were now dyed orange and green. Seeko didn't finish his food nearly as fast as he used to, and he got diarrhea pretty badly. We also noticed that he started eating a lot of grass.

A few days ago, I had the idea to search around on the internet to see if any other dog owners that fed their pups Pedigree were having the same issues. Much to my horror, I was reading about dogs passing away and becoming severely sick from the new recipe. I left a message on Pedigree's Facebook page, but was met with a generic "Call us at this number" comment (they had done this for all other complaints on their page). Luckily our dog didn't get the bad symptoms. We're going to try a different dog food from now on. I'm very disappointed in Pedigree.

My dog is 5 years old and has only eaten Pedigree dry dog food. The Pedigree dry dog food formula for complete nutrition has recently changed and now has green and reddish chunks of dog food included. We bought it because we could not find the previous non-colored formula anywhere. My dog has been itchy and started losing his fur since starting this new formula. We are going to switch to Blue Buffalo.

My dog has been eating Pedigree hard dog food all of her adult life and never had an issue. Then I bought the 50 lbs chicken flavor food like I always do but it had green pieces in it. At first my dog loved them but then she slowly stopped getting excited about eating, started eating grass and actually went 4 days without eating food. Then we went on a short week long vacation and came back to a house smelling like dog farts. If I could return this dog food then I would! My dog is a very picky eater so I have to go on a hunt for a new dog food she will like. I won't be buying Pedigree anymore.

When will enough be enough! I want to know just exactly how many Pedigree employees feed this junk to their dogs at home???? And I want to see someone who is over Pedigree and also every single last employee eat it!! Since I began giving my baby bear your lousy trash you call dog food, she looks like death, sleeps all the time, has a red almost bloody rash and itching all over!! She is so thirsty - just can't get enough and she can't hardly walk! Why in the hell would anyone allow this ** to go on?

For some people their dog is a reason to go on living! I deal with a lot in life and we should not have to worried about pigs serving up toxic poison to our family members!! Take it off shelves or let's see Pedigree employees and head ** eat it and take it home to their dogs!!! Lets see!! Enough is enough. While I'm praying for everyone to know about this so not another innocent pet's life is wasted by idiots, I also pray somebody or something puts a stop to Pedigree period!

I would never buy the garbage again after seeing what took only 3-4 days of feeding to my beloved friend, dog, family member!!

Pedigree is murdering and getting away with it!! What the hell? Somebody stop them!! I'd just die without my best friend and truly loyal dirt bike riding, car riding best friend for life... companion. How can you sleep at night or look in the mirror then go to work at that factory who's killing a little girl's or boy's best friend and won't do a damn thing to stop it either. I'm done!

Was looking for a safe healthy chew for my Shepherd mix. I found the the Dentastix for large dogs. OK, made in USA not China. Took them and gave him one and a couple of hours later diarrhea for three days. The only thing that had changed in his diet. These things are garbage!

We have been feeding our German Shepherd Pedigree Large dog dry food for most of his life - it has been the same food the whole time. Back in May or June when I went to Costco to buy a bag of dog food, it had changed and now had these veggie bits - it was the Adult Meatier Recipe Chicken Flavor. Shortly after that he started getting these large nodules on his back, and they became very numerous very quickly. First course of treatment - antibiotics, benadryl, and flea treatment - thinking they might be a reaction to flea bites. No change, more bumps appear. Biopsy shows they are not cancerous.

Next course of treatment - prednisone to reduce inflammation. But today he had a seizure, he's 4.5 years old and never had a seizure before. Vet says not caused by steroid treatment. Seem to recall Chinese made dog food causing seizures several years ago. We promptly went out and bought something else, Royal Canin GS specific food. He has vomited once or twice in the last two months, no loose stool, normal energy level and such, no bloody foaming/frothy mouth. We are hoping this is all food related and that switching out the food will clear it up.

Our boxer used Pedigree foods since he was a puppy. Sometime last year he began getting sick. Vomiting, diarrhea, eating grass. He would sometimes try and squat but nothing would come out. He was lethargic and would not eat or drink. This would last a few days and he would get better. We took him to the vet because he was losing weight and they could find nothing wrong - we just thought he ate something he shouldn't have. Last month he got sick again and this time unexpectedly passed away. My family and I were crushed.

We adopted a sweet Great Dane, Athena, to help ease my kids’ pain some. We have had her two weeks and she is now experiencing the exact same issues. The only link? Pedigree large breed dry dog food. After reading all of these reviews and seeing other pet owners and their babies having the same symptoms I am beyond angry and upset that we had to put our sweet boy to rest because of this company's egregious practices. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT.
