We love our Barkbox! My puppy knows how to open and thinks all the boxes that come into our house are for him because of Barkbox! Barkbox has been an added relief during our time of quarantine and he looks forward to it every month!

Timing was horrible. Got the box waaaay later and I was charged for the next one same day. Honestly I would have skipped last month if I knew I wasn’t going to get it for the month it was intended. Why is it mailed out so late every month anyway? Whatever, if I get the next April box when it’s about to be May or at the beginning of May I’m canceling my orders.

My Toto loves the toys and treats she gets from BB. Because she loves to tear her toys apart I’m glad BB makes sturdy, long lasting toys; and that new ones have arrived regularly to replace the ones she destroys.

I want fewer toys & more treats. The toys are indestructible which is great but they are piling up. I train Grace for obedience competition so I use lots of bite size treats especially when training new behaviors. Bark Box provides good treats but I need to cut most of them down to bite size for training. Please make these adjustments to customize my boxes. Thank you.

I may enjoy getting Barkbox as much as my dog, Winston! The themes are great and well thought out and if you read all the fine print, little puns are everywhere! I love that. Winston enjoys the treats but the toys are great. The only problem, he's so gentle with toys, his toy bins are overflowing!! I still have the Ode to Winston from the Shakespeare box on the fridge! Additionally, if there's a problem with a toy they respond quickly and send a replacement.

Axel loves Bark Box, the toys he gets are some of his favorites. He actually hates treats that we pick up from the store, but the treats we get in bark box he goes nuts for! We look forward to it every month!

Coco loves to see BarkBox cone. We’ve been very pleased for the most part. There have been a few toys that she played with for 15 minutes & destroyed right away. Also some of the treats she hasn’t liked... but the neighbors dog has enjoyed them... so they don’t go to waste.

Ido loves his Barkbox! Being a high energy puppy, it has been really helpful to receive new toys to keep him busy each month! The toys hold up better than anything I have had in past, even after multiple washings.

Chewy and I love the BarkBox, he even knows it's for him when it arrives but there's been a few times when items were missing or not available and weren't included but overall I'm satisfied with the treats. The toys are ok but he does chew them up quickly.

I cannot say enough good things about these guys. We love Bark Box. Cabbage and I have been a customer for a few months now. We have tried various options and have narrowed down what Cabbage loves the best. If I have questions, they are quick to respond. If Cabbage doesn't like a particular toy, these guys send replacements to make up for it. Even if I don't ask. Bark Box goes above and beyond to make everything great. We are very happy with the service. The toys are pretty cute/cool as well. Thank you for everything Bark Box. We love you!!

Fantastic toys and customer service! My dog loves getting her BarkBox every month! The minute I open the box, she immediately grabs the toys and runs around the apartment to play with them. It is extremely exciting for me to see as it is her favorite form of enrichment.

I love the consistency of the deliveries and my dog LOVES the hard to chew toys. The treats are also something he enjoys very much and are much different than those bought at the store. I love that the products are made with real ingredients that I can understand.

Gizmo gets so excited when his box comes! He doesn’t know what to do first, oh there's a new toy! Hey gimme one of those treats, smells yummy!! He gets such a variety we never know what to expect. The time he chewed up the toy replacements were sent immediately. I have nothing but praise for the entire BarkBox community and would highly recommend them to all fur baby owners!

Dakota and I love our monthly BarkBox! Each time it comes, we open it together, allowing Dakota to try to open it. He goes absolutely nuts! These toys are the only ones I can find that he won't break! We only had two toys we had to replace that he chewed through and the BarkBox team was so helpful and able to get us replacements! We love BarkBox!

This company goes above and beyond for their customers. The customer service is THE best! I've bragged so much to my friends about Barkbox, one of them has just signed up. She got her first box and her dog LOVED it but more importantly, I tell my friends how much they will love seeing their fur baby so happy. Now she really gets it. :) I will continue to tell my friends and family how much I love being a Barkbox customer. I can't thank Barkbox enough for the memories I cherish and hold so dearly of my last fur baby opening his Barkbox every month and now creating new memories with my puppy. This is SO much more than toys and treats.

Everything was wonderful. We just wish we had more squeaky toys. I have multiple dogs and they all really like the treats. I also wish there was a multiple dog option. Right now I have three dogs and they share the treats now.

My pup loves Bark Box and I’m so happy I signed up. However it would be great if we could customize it a little more. We get 3 toys a month which is great but my pup only really enjoys the treat dispensing toys and sometimes he likes a tough chewer toy rather than a plushie one. It would be great if we could get one tough chewer toy and one treat dispensing you with every box.

I look forward to the Bark Box as much as my dogs do every month, I get just as excited to see what healthy and safe treats they are getting and what new toys they get to play with. I think they do a great job packing, picking and shipping. We love all the treats and toys except Hansel destroys all the toys. He is such a chewer, but the treats are great. I wish there was a more durable toy that would last longer. Hansel always looks forward to his next Bark Box. The themes are always fun!

I have 2 dogs Brantley and Luna. I love the toys. They are pretty indestructible. My dogs love the treats that are sent every month and especially the toys. I highly recommend Bark Box to anyone who has bully breed dogs.

Let me start by saying in every other way, you guys are terrific and your product is awesome BUT I have been trying to cancel my subscription since the end of December (when my husband got laid off work) and I just saw I am receiving another box for April!!! Shiloh needs the toughest toys made, and she loves receiving her Bark Box every month. And the all natural treats and chews must be quite tasty as all of my dogs love them. Also, if there is a toy she destroys in 5 minutes or less, the Bark Box staff immediately replaces it.

Absolutely love Bark Box! We subscribed for 6 months and each month we loved the contents. The treats were all healthy and smelled great! Lexi loved them. And she plays with the toys daily. I signed up for Bark Box in November of 2019. My dog was very excited about his first delivery. The treats are great, sadly, the regular toys didn't withstand the jaw power of our dog. The toys lasted longer than any others we had tried. Customer service switched us to the Super Chewer box and sent Hank a free toy to hold him over until his next box. He still chews through some of the toys in his new boxes, but some make it. We're very happy with the Barkbox team.

I love Barkbox, it was Amazing, but with this COVID-19 going on they did a Mass Layoff at my Work, so I'm presenting struggling to make ends meet, but whenever I get back on my feet I hope to rejoin, but presently I can't because my Bills come first but truly loved Barkbox, Thank you for all the treats and dog toys! Jett loves and looks forward to her box every month. She doesn’t even bark at the Mail person anymore. Jett is very hard on her toys. She will play with them and chew on them beyond recognition. She is a big dog so she needs strong and durable toys.

I received a email offer from BarkBox offering $10.00 off the first box. I clicked the link and entered the information. When I get to the checkout page it shows the full price. After waiting online with customer chat for over 30 minutes and being disconnected once, they wouldn't honor the email or give me a promo code for the $10.00 off.

I signed up for BarkBox with a 50% off coupon to see how it would go. The box got to me within a week, but the contents were dismal. A cheesy lame theme accompanied by lame toys. I told BarkBox all about my dog, and I have no idea what kind of dog these toys are for but they definitely won't do for a 80lb labrador. I got a tennis ball in a toilet joke toy, a tuxedo bib with a squeaker in it, and a flower with a squeaker in the stem. None of these lasted longer than 5 minutes, especially the tennis ball in the toilet. That was torn into pieces and quickly became a choking hazard before my dog could really get into it and I threw it away. The treats seem nice, but the "chew" is a just a larger glorified treat, this is not something that will last more than 5 minutes either.
With the money I would have spent on this box (if I hadn't used a 50% off coupon) I could have purchased 3 toys from Chewy.com that will actually last. So I bought 2 bags of fancy treats, 1 larger treat, and 3 pieces of trash. If you have a Miniature Schnauzer or a dog that likes to hoard toys instead of play with them, these would be awesome toys! But if you have an active dog over 50lbs who likes to play, this box is not for you. I can appreciate the creativity, but it would seem that these toys are designed for people to go, "Awww look how cute that is" instead of being designed to be long lasting for your dog to enjoy. Save yourself the anticipation and eventual disappointment as well as the time and money you will spend on this box and go on a $60 Chewy.com shopping spree. You'll get more items and won't be disappointed when you open the box.

I started BarkBox a couple years ago. It’s like a subscription service for your dog(s). It is anywhere from $22-$29 a month. The staff is incredibly obsessed with dogs & it shows with any type of interaction you have with them. Whether it’s over the phone, text or email. They ask you about your dog such as do they have any allergies and if they need super strong toys (super chewers!), etc. and every month they have a theme. Once it was a summer box and with the toys & treats they included a “passport” where you could put your dogs photo on it. They give a lot of thought and care to every theme. Here’s a bonus: if your dog does not like a treat - contact them and BarkBox will send out a replacement treat at no charge. ????❤️????

I got my first Box in December. I let them know I had a new puppy, they sent themed toys. One had a small tennis ball, too small for my puppy plus most tennis balls are made with fuzzy outer layer that is not good 'cause it's very bad for their teeth and dogs tend to digest it. He has gotten these a couple times now. They have sent toys that are meant to be puzzle toys but there is no challenge to them and they're big and bulky and hard plastic, my pup had no interest in them, each month more of the same stuff even though we told them we don't like what we are getting, we still have chews from the December box he hasn't touched. In fact they were offered to my older dog. She hasn't bothered with them either.
The first set of treats they sent were too hard for the puppy and we asked for softer breakable ones for training, what we got after were ones that feel like rubber but when you break them down into smaller treats they crumble and are horrible to deal with. My husband ordered the yearly subscription which I plan to bring to the shelter each month cause we can't cancel it and already sitting on 66 dollars with of junk we can't use.

I like this as an opportunity to not worry about what I want to pick out for her, but they give me a variety of pet toys in the new edibles to try that I never would have thought to try before. It’s easy and it comes to my door once a month and she is excited to see what items I will be pulling out of the box. I don’t necessarily like hard treats for her, but they do give me a variety of treats for her to try.

I received a special promo offer for 1 box and the items I received were not even worth the discount price. The toys lasted only about 2 hours at the most and the treats were in small bags. Not worth it. You can find better deals on Chewy.com.

The quality of toys/dog treats you receive are terrible for the cost per box. The plush toys sent lasted less than 2 hrs & both toys & treats can be purchased for cheaper on Amazon. Further, you’re able to return/exchange & most importantly, an Amazon representative is available to talk to. I waited in the chat queue over 40 min twice & sent an email.... crickets. Do yourself a favor and spend your money with a company who isn’t just interested in the sale & not service!!!!

I have had one of the BEST customer service experiences with the Barkbox Team! The live text messaging significantly helped me get my nephew his lost email. Barkbox resent the email a couple more times over the course of the weekend! My nephew finally received it, activated his account & get Trigger's (his new Beagle pup) their first BarkBox Gift Box. BarkBox's prompt attention to our needs and joy filled correspondence made an all around friendly experience. I love this place. I just opened my account for the Super Chewer. My dog loved everything except was not super excited about the rubber chew toys. BarkBox follow up my order with an email about being satisfied. I explained that my dog was not super excited about the toys. They offered to change my box to meet my dog’s needs and sent out an extra box with toys that my dog will surely love. They go the extra mile to make you comfortable with your purchase. I signed up for a free sample box, but they billed me over $40 because I didn't tell them to not bill me for a free box. Not cool! They are not clear as to how the free item works and should make it much clearer.

Barkbox is one of those brands that tout amazing self posted reviews while actually being extremely difficult to work with or communicate to outside of chatbots on their site. They lock you into a subscription with no warning that it would be easier to cure cancer than cancel the service with them. This is not a bill. This is not owed to them. I sign up for something for my pet and if want to leave the service is it unbelievable that I have to literally speak to five people to do so. My minor issue has billowed to a full on rage that a pet toy company has the nerve to tell me I have to pay and receive their product for the next five months even though I absolutely do not want to.
Each customer service rep I'm handed to says the same and trying to talk to me about how happy my dog is with her box rather than actually provide customer service which is infuriating to say the least. With all of that said, there are so many better options with great service, competitors who don't treat you like debt collectors trying to swindle cash out of you with no actual customer service to be had. They still deny my cancel request. They still parrot the same crap to me about having to suck it up and pay the money for the next five months so my guess is it'll be easier to cancel my card than actually get any resolution from their side.

The toys received were not appealing to my Golden Retriever. I cancelled immediately but was sent a second box anyway. No refunds are given. The website is poorly designed and customer service lacking. Don't waste your money!

I'll up the star for having it resolved, but it wasn't without issue. The first couple correspondences involved being told the technical issue was a terms of service issue, which was not, and then was shown an example screen that was part of the problem in the first place. My subscription was revoked thankfully, but only after having to threaten claiming fraud. Instead of offering a solution from the get-go, I was told I was wrong and then offered a different subscription as if that would help. This had no business getting as far as it did when it could've been taken care of from the start. What was supposed to be a gift from a friend turned into an absurd mistake.

From what I've heard about BarkBox, I had a pretty good opinion of it and was excited to use a promo code for a free month that I was gifted by a friend. However a technical error when I refreshed the tab charged me for a 6-month subscription instead of using the promo code for only a single month. Haven't talked much with Customer Service yet; however thus far it's mostly being told I'm at fault for not reading the terms of service, which isn't the issue I'm having. Pretty disappointed in my short experience with them, as I am being charged for something based on entirely on an error of their website.

I was disappointed with BarkBox. The toys were mediocre (chewed up in two days) and the treats were not great. I signed up for one ☝️ month, and they automatically sent another month. They would not refund me for the box I was sent that I didn’t want, just said it was too late. The information on the website is very unclear when you go to get 1 month (a Christmas present for the dog) that my kids wanted. I will not be ordering from BarkBox and would not recommend it to anyone.

I am a huge fan of subscription programs and a friend referred me to BarkBox. The first box arrived right away. The second box for November never came. I got an email saying they wouldn't charge me for December (awfully generous since I was charged for November and never received any product). Big surprise NO box arrived in December. It did finally ship and will be here in January. When I emailed customers service about expecting a monthly package the response was "let me find out where your package is". Guess what? I know how to track a package but if you don't ship until the end of the month it's not going to arrive on time. Then I received an email asking if I would be interested in purchasing a smaller subscription. Seriously just keep up with your end of the subscription. I would never recommend to another. Doesn't deliver monthly as stated and customer service isn't about service.

The toys sent were complete junk. My dog shredded them right away. They keep billing me and sending more. I can't give the dangerous choking hazard toys to my dog. The customer service won't cancel it and they keep making me pay an outrageous price for stuff I have to throw away.

Do not purchase their products.. the toys are filled with toxic silicone, plastic, and other material that if consumed can potentially cause serious harm or even death to your pet. Would highly recommend not using their cheap toys.

If I could leave no stars I would've. I have been a Barkbox customer for 2 years now. Beginning this past summer the service has gone down. They used to promise your box by the 15th of the month and this was the case up until this past summer. The boxes began to come later and later and then all of a sudden 2 months and no box. You can't call a customer service number as one does not exist, you can only chat with someone online.
After about an hour of online chatting I was finally able to get someone to call me on the phone by the name of Lexie **. She claims to be a supervisor. She was very friendly and concerned with my undelivered orders. She was going to "take care of the issue". I was to get a few toys and a refund of $108. I received the extra toys very quickly but have yet to receive a refund (almost 2 months now). She has stopped answering my emails and still no check. This is very unprofessional and as soon as my plan is up I am canceling. With this company there is no way to contact anyone on the phone and emails seem to just go unanswered. Very disappointed and very upset with how they handle customers. Will never recommend them to anyone. The way they are going this company will be shut down soon.

I signed up in September 2019, the first box came late, I never received a box for October. I did receive a box at the end of November. By December I never received any notification that my box was sent so I sent an email and did receive a response that it was being looked into and that was the last I heard. I then logged into my account and saw a note that my December box was delayed and that I would be notified when it ships. I tried again to log in this morning and my account seemed to be closed. So what I paid was $150.00. What I received was two boxes of toys and treats. No one getting back to me I guess. I just got scammed. Buyer beware. Merry Christmas.

I have been trying to help my mother-in-law cancel for about a month now. She wanted to get Simon a gift. She didn't catch the 6 month commitment clause when she purchased the $5 box for December which was sold out, so we got something not December themed. My dog destroyed two of the "super chewer" toys within minutes in front of me from the first box (the blue rubber squirrel and purple top). I had to quickly grab the pieces before he swallowed them. He is 11 months, 33 pounds, and a black mouth cur. He does not have a strong bite. The quality of the toys are very low. You might as well go to the dollar store, I'm not kidding. The ball they gave us had a weird sticky like material that could be easily cut with children's art scissors. I was afraid to give it to him.
We have been emailing and calling them to get a refund and they refuse. Their solution was to send a January box with one less toy and add an additional one in February. We said no, don't send it, it's unsafe. Their newest solution is to send treats instead of all toys. I specifically didn't want the treats because they don't list the ingredients. I can not confidently recommend this company, their products, or allow my dog to use any of these items. We will continue to fight Barkbox until she is refunded and the subscription is cancelled.

I signed up for the 6 month service to receive a box full of treats and toys for my new puppy Toby. This site was endorsed by Zac George YouTube puppy training videos. My first box came within a few weeks and we were really excited to receive it. The second month I received an email that it won't be coming, but was reimbursed my $$ and they added on a free month. The third month they weren't able to cross the border with treats but got 1 extra toy and was also told I had to pay $5 more due to higher customs charges. The fourth month (December) I'm still waiting as it's 2 days before Christmas. 3 fails from Bark Box and they still won't let me cancel my subscription. They have no problem taking my payment each month only delivering on their promises.

Loved our first BarkBox. Ever since that one the toys have not been a great quality and it arrive later and later in the month. This month they were pushing a Christmas special to double up: I did. Guess what? Won't arrive until the 27th! How is that a Christmas special? AND I can not cancel because you have to agree to a year's subscription. Buyer beware!

We were so impressed with our first box that we signed up for a year of boxes. At the beginning of December I received a message that my box was being shipped out. I started checking in on the website starting in December 11th and every day my shipment date moves back by one day. Don’t bother contacting through the email system, you will only receive some kind of automated response that has little to do with your issue. I added a Santa hat to the order and wanted it taken off of the order since it wouldn’t be here until after Christmas.
I finally did the call back system and got that resolved. I asked about the shipping date and was told they were not prepared for the volume of orders they had received but if I saw that my order was heading into January, I should give them another call. I’m stunned right now. It’s a Christmas box. Why would I want a Christmas box in January? I also ordered New Year's glasses that also won’t be of any use to me after Jan 1st. I was charged for this box at the beginning of December and am completely disappointed in the shipping process.

After considering BarkBox for many, many months, I took the jump and signed up. The first box was cute, and my dogs loved the toys for as long as dogs can love toys. The second box came, also cute toys. The food items in this box made both of my dogs ill. I contacted BarkBox, as I wanted to cancel my subscription. I was told that I could not cancel my subscription, but they could send me all toys in my next box. I wasn't pleased but I figured I had to honor my commitment with my subscription. The third box came today. Guess what? There were food items in it (gah!). I contacted BarkBox, and I was told that they could send me a toy in place of the food items, and they suggested that I give the treats to someone else (as if!). As a heads up, the subscription auto-renews, so be aware of what you are signing up for.

I was very excited to sign up for Barkbox, but I have unfortunately been disappointed with the toys we have received. The treats have been really great and my dog LOVES them! But, the toys are destroyed almost immediately. My dog does not typically destroy plush toys, but we received 6 toys between the first two boxes, 5 of which have already made their way to the trash. I had already cancelled my subscription because of this, but not in time to cancel my third box getting sent. After just receiving box #3, I am glad that we did in fact cancel.
In this box, we received two of the exact same toy? What is the point of getting something that comes with 3 toys, but having 2 of them be exactly the same? I guess the only upside is that particular toy will last 2x longer this round, haha. Again, the treats are really good and she loves them. They do kind of pile up on us though because my dog is 10 lb and cannot go through 2 full bags of treats in a month, so that is another reason I'm glad to have cancelled the sub. But ultimately $30 for toys that will get destroyed immediately or repeat toys is not worth it; I would rather go to TJ Maxx and buy their $3 toys on my own. I am very bummed about this because the element of surprise is such a fun concept for stuff for your dog, but the surprise has been a let down. :(

The monthly orders claim to ship on the 15th, but they never do. I always get them late, sometimes not even in the month they're supposed to arrive. As for the BarkShop orders, I ordered 35 items. They emailed that 4 were out of stock, and they would send the remaining 31. It took three weeks to arrive, despite the fact that I live in California.
When it arrived, the box was tiny. I could not believe it would hold 31 items. Sure enough, when I opened it and counted, 21 items were missing. Worse, the sheet listing the items that were delivered in the box was in there. There were TWO papers, both identical copies, both stating 31 items had been delivered in this box. Seriously? This is a scam... They delay the order, don't respond to customers, and continue their delay until it exceeds the maximum time you have to file a dispute with your credit card company. And if you pay with a debit card instead of a credit card? I feel so bad for you! This company needs to be shut down.

Updated on 12/21/2019: This is an update to my first review. I placed my first order December 8. After blaming FedEx for not moving it through the system, on December 18 I was contacted and told that a replacement box will be sent. Does this mean I will still get the first box. Probably not because it was never sent to begin with. I get alerts from FedEx and the Post office. Within two days I got an email from FedEx saying the estimated delivery date will be December 28. Also FedEx passes the package off to the Post office so this makes the delivery even later. I’m very disappointed.
The reps with BarkBox never admitted that they couldn’t keep up with Demand and couldn’t send out the box. My dog doesn’t care she won’t get her gift by Christmas, but I do. To try to make me happy I am supposed to get a free box in January. When I see the quality of the toys, I will decide to continue or not. In their contract it says you can stop delivery but you have to continue to pay your subscription. This doesn’t seem legal to me so I guess I’m in for a fight. Just a side note. I ordered something from Amazon last week and got it in five days. I don’t have prime but it was $16 and free delivery.
Original Review: I placed my first 6 month subscription December 8. It was a promotion to receive your first box for $5. On December 11 I got an email saying it shipped and the estimated time of delivery was the 13th. So I went to FedEx to track to package and was told they did not receive it yet. Only a label was created on December 10. I contacted BarkBox and was told it may take four days to see tracking. Multiple times a day I checked tracking on their site. Delivery went from the 11, to the 13 to the 15 to the 16 to the 17. Now there is no estimated delivery.
All this time FedEx still has not received the package and there is no tracking information since the label was created December 10. It is now December 16 and all communication has stopped since the 13th. I was promised delivery in 2-8 days but seeing no tracking information I doubt this will happen. To make things worse I was charged before the package was actually shipped. No reputable company ever charges before sending out the package. I think I’m in for a fight.

First, the company clearly has a language they like to speak in. It's obnoxiously upbeat and they won't talk to you about your money and your subscription - they want to talk to you about "Payton's box." They will repeatedly assure you everything is fine and your box is shipping, despite having been delayed multiple times in a month... then you receive an email that your box has been cancelled.
They'll refund your money but then extend your subscription. I don't want to be on this subscription anymore. When you talk about calling your credit card company for a refund, that's the only time they stop being obnoxiously positive and will threaten you with additional charges, cancellation fees, and say you aren't allowed to cancel. I was told to "rest assured" my December box will still ship. I don't believe it, since I was told that about my other cancelled boxes. BarkBox can rest assured I will be speaking to my bank about what at this point is repeated fraudulent charges for a product I never receive.

Please be aware that once you sign up, they DO NOT let you cancel. You are locked in for the time you signed up for. At the very beginning, I received a call back because he had destroyed nearly all the toys they sent. Their solution was to change the subscription to the Super Chewer, but it's $34 a month instead of $25, and I didn't want to do that, but there was no way to cancel. Every time I've had to contact them since (only by email), it takes 3-10 days to hear back, and it's always a different person, so there's usually a misunderstanding. My 35lb Labradoodle even destroyed every Super Chewer toy they sent in about 3 minutes, except the hard nylon and rubber ones. So, every month he's getting two toys for $34, and the only difference is the shape. It's not a good value, IMHO.

I paid for a 6 month subscription. Navigating the website to find the cancellation button (so my subscription wouldn't automatically renew) was a pain. Tried to call and send an email on the last day (so it wouldn't renew automatically). Finally got a message back > 36 hours later (and thankfully I had found the button to cancel rather than waiting on the call). SO they cancelled the automatic renewal of my subscription... but then skipped my last (6th) shipment. Incredibly annoyed. Might buy individual boxes or items in the future, but never paying for the awful subscription model or customer service again.

I have been ordering Bark Box for over a year now for my mom's dogs and my own puppy. The dogs and I love the boxes! They are super fun. In July we decided to change our puppy (Rustie’s) box to a super chewer since she loves to chew through her toys. We didn’t really like the box overall so I contact them and asked to switch back to our regular box starting September. The lady even sends me a confirmation to my email saying the change has been made. Here comes September and the box isn’t changed. We receive another super chewer. October. The same. November. the same. They send us 2 plush toys for the “inconvenience” but send them to the wrong address!!!! Meanwhile we keep receiving boxes we don’t want.
Here comes December and my mom's dogs regular BarkBox is sent out. It says PACKING UP RUSTIE'S SUPER CHEWER. AGAIN. THIS IS 4.5 months of just continuous waiting on the chat to speak to someone, emails, wasting my time FOR WHAT?! They don’t care. They clearly don’t want to fix the issue for you. I have to say biggest waste of time, effort, and money. I will buy my dogs treats and toys elsewhere and find another subscription. The worst part about it is that the actual boxes are super fun and great for the dogs! But if you want even somewhat good customer service don’t bother with Barkbox.

I was given this product as a gift last year. It was an incredibly thoughtful gift on the part of the giver, however my dog wasn't interested in the toys and the quality of the treats was so low that my husband and I didn't feel comfortable giving them to our pooch. I asked the sender to stop the monthly deliveries and they did. I never thought I would have to think about BarkBox again. Little did know.
Somehow Barkbox got ahold of my business credit card and charged me for a Barkbox last month. I have no idea how this could have happened. There has been no other fraud on our account. I thought a simple phone call would settle the matter. Instead, I was told that they can't refund the transaction because they can't find the transaction in their system. And they can't find the transaction in the system because they can't find my account.
It's just a doom loop of absurdity. Most similar systems are set-up to allow people to search transactions by cc number, why they can't do this is beyond me. Failing that, why don't they just take the word of someone whose story makes and reverse the refund if I am somehow trying to scam $34.00 out of them. A terrible way to do business. I hope this will get resolved eventually. Yuck. Avoid this company that offers a poor product and even worse business practices.

A few years ago I had a large dog, got her the BarkBox, she loved it. She passed. Now I have two little girls, I got them a BarkBox thinking it will be the same great box. NO. I was wrong. The treats neither of them will eat. I even tried giving them to my friend's dog who eats everything and NO. The toys in one box already had stuffing pulled out when I opened the box. I tried reaching out to Bark Box who used to have great customer service. Now, it takes forever to reach someone to text or chat. I have tried cancelling my box. NOPE. Still charge my card. Told me they can switch me to another plan and then can cancel after they charge my card again. I do NOT recommend this subscription box.

I have ordered several BarkBoxes. My dog loves them. But I have had issues with the packing and shipping twice. They go from one extreme to the other. First time was I ordered for my dog’s birthday in August and they didn’t ship the order. I contacted and they told me it was late in the month so they held the order to be shipped for the next month. This time I ordered after Thanksgiving so I would receive the Christmas box and I got a Thanksgiving box with one toy missing. The boxes cost too much for the hassle.

I signed up under the promotional $5 box, did not realize you could not cancel the plan thereafter. The shipping on the box was delayed THREE WEEK and they still said they were unable to cancel out even the box that did not ship due to “processing”. One representative let me know he could change my plan to the monthly option which would let me cancel after receiving my first box. That way I could try it out. The change was never applied to my account (after I had already done a positive survey for the customer service rep) so I reached out again and was told all sorts of different ways. No, they couldn’t help me.
Finally, Abby lets me know she can charge me the full month for my first box (remaining $24) and change the subscription to monthly so I can cancel the autorenewal and no longer be charged. I checked my credit card today and see a charge from Bark Box for $53! NOT ONLY WAS I OVERCHARGED BY MORE THAN DOUBLE, the change STILL hasn’t been made to my account to adjust to a monthly subscription. Since Barkbox got bigger, they’ve gotten greedy and customer service has gotten horrible. My boyfriend has gotten BarkBox for our other dog for the past 3 years and we used to have zero issues. They’ll be losing more than two customers from this disastrous fiasco.

I cancelled my membership on my account it clearly states that. I need the $29.00 you took upon yourself to debit from my account after I cancelled. I tried calling, no one to answer except a silly machine, I have emailed and no response, I have texted and no response, I have Facebook messaged and no response. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. I WILL POST NEGATIVE REVIEWS UNTIL I'M BLUE IN THE FACE. Why is there absolutely no customer service? This is a scam and I will let everyone know not to buy anything from BARKBOX. The toys were cheap and my pups tore them apart within 2 days. I have contacted my bank and the Better Business Bureau. This is ridiculous. I want my money back. DO NOT SIGN UP! You will somehow get sucked into a 6 month or 12 month commitment that you are unaware of. I contacted them through chat since I would get no reply through email and they would not allow me to cancel and told me that I was on a 6 month subscription and that I could not cancel and could get no refund that I pretty much would have to just ride it out. He then offered me an early cancellation but that I would still have to receive 2 more boxes until the end of February. I have seen this has been offered to others as well but at the end they were still charged more! Stay away from this company because they will not let you out of the subscriptions no matter what and you can not even change your payment to stop it!!

Tried to cancel my subscription. No one will call me back. Had no idea that I was in a 12 month contract until I try to cancel. And now I will continue to be charged until August of 2020. Never experienced anything like this before. Their ads are very misleading. So buyers beware!!!

Wow! I've been with Barkbox for about 2 years now. I've canceled my monthly boxes, and started it back up, and canceled again just because their toys are piling up. I've never had a problem canceling. It's about $22 bucks a box for a 6 month subscription which is super cheap compared to going to a local pet shop. I even ordered a toy too small for my dog and I was looking to exchange it and they told me to just donate it and they will send me a free bigger one. I've been hooked ever since.

So everything was fine for 1st year then boxes would be late occasionally then more often and eventually not being shipped on time. I had to call since July asking where it is. Then it didn't ship at all, more phone calls. Today making my monthly call I was told it was canceled and they have run out of this month's theme boxes. So now I'm getting a repeat box. If I dont call I don't get a box BUT my credit card is charged. That they know how to do every month on time. Apparently they have been having a new warehouse problem for well over 6 months, now that excuse is getting old. So here I am trying to decide if I should continue my subscription but it so much work each month looking for the box and now one that I've already received before with the same toys and treats.

I signed up with Barkbox 2 months ago through a customer rep. Before signing up I kept asking the rep how much it would be monthly for the Barkbox, but I never got a reply. Today I chatted with 2 customer representatives asking them to cancel my membership. The first customer service rep only gave me other options on other boxes/prices. I insisted that I only wanted to cancel, so she transferred me to another department. Karen, the second representative was not helpful at all. She informed me that cancelling the Barkbox subscription wasn't an option because of my reasoning. It's crazy to have to give a good reason to only cancel an account. Any other company would ask why you wanted to cancel give you other options and if cancelling is still your plan then they would CANCEL, BUT NOT THIS COMPANY!

I signed up for the “super chewer” BarkBox. My dog destroyed the toys within minutes of receiving them. I have been trying to talk to a live person for two months because their website promises 100% satisfaction. But that is not the case. They have promised a phone call numerous times and have never followed through. After looking at this website, I also notice that they only respond to positive reviews. This company is horrible and I would advise everyone to save their money and do not believe their false promises. The worst company I have done business with in a very long time!!!

I'm a pretty patient person and I totally understand that sometimes things can go wrong, but enough is enough!!! I have subscribed in August 2019 to give it a try. We're in late November and I have only received one box, although I have been credited CAD70 EVERY month since August. It's been a month that I am asking them to cancel my subscription and refund me. They told me they cancelled it and I agreed to receive two more boxes instead of being refunded (I paid for them after all), but I am still been credited, and I still haven't received any more boxes. They send super nice emails which made me think they would actually help me, but as long as they can get money they don't give a crap about customers. To me it's a total scam.

I subscribed for the yearly subscription. It was ok for first year, so I was resubscribed for another year and of course things started getting bad quickly. They would put wrong items in box after personalizing them, and my boxes kept getting delivered later and later every month. Now I'm on my very last box of my 2nd yearly subscription that I could not cancel, and of course, this box's shipping keeps getting delayed every day for the past week now.
It was suppose to ship on the 15th then the next day it was the 18th, then the 19th then the 20th and so on and so on. Now it's at the 25th and I'm sure that will change tomorrow like it has every day for the past week now. My dogs hate the treats and they smell horrible like dirty **. The toys are pretty much the same toy every month but with a different theme, my dogs could care less for them anymore. And if you try to cancel during a 6 month or 12 month subscription, they will keep charging you no matter what. They are slimy!! Beware!!!

August Barkbox: no chews coming. Don't worry they'll be extra in September. September barkbox: can't get across Canadian border, doesn't show up at all. Don't worry extras in October barkbox. October barkbox: doesn't ship, doesn't ship, then it will ship but with no treats or chews in it all...so refunded instead. November barkbox: assured all problems worked out. Constant pushed back shipping dates. Just yesterday Customer service said it would ship soon. This morning...Again a later date. There's no way it will arrive in November now. Used to be such a pleasure, now this company is nothing but stress. :(

This is the second month that my Barkbox subscription has been delayed continuously. I never even received my October Barkbox. After they had delayed the shipping several times, they finally sent out an email saying they ran out of inventory and credited the value back to me. Fine, but delaying again for a second month?! This is ridiculous. They should have figured out their issues last month. I also ordered additional items this time that I need by December 1st, but at this rate, I doubt I will even get a box again this month. I am VERY unhappy with my experience. Go with another subscription service if you are thinking about joining Barkbox.

My dogs go insane over Bark Box. They get so excited when the box comes and have loved every single toy they have gotten. I can’t even describe how they get when they see a new toy. They start jumping and barking and that’s how I know they are excited. In the past they just laid around all day. Now they are constantly playing with the toys. Don’t even get me started on the treats. The only thing bad about the treats is that the bags aren’t bigger! I could probably get my dogs to do anything when I pull out the bark box treats. BarkBox is the best day of the month, every month, for Franklin. It's like his birthday and Christmas wrapped into one, except it comes 12 times a year. He's obsessed with the toys and treats, and the themes and characters are hilarious from my husband's and my perspective as well.

My pups and I love BarkBox! Anytime I have ever had a question or concern I get an email back almost immediately. Every box my dogs have ever gotten is good quality and well worth it! They go the extra mile and really care about their customers! I had three dogs and one of them was a major chewer. I upgraded to Super Chewer. He loved it! Unfortunately he passed away, I reached out to them asking to downgrade back to BarkBox cause my two other dogs didn’t need the heavy duty toys and they did it no problem and were very thoughtful, they even sent a few extra toys for my other two pups when I told them the news. I am very impressed with the customer care. My pups love their BarkBoxes!

I unfortunately started a subscription with BarkBox over 2 years ago, ended it after a year. They only allow cancelation of subscription after the full year! You cant stop in the middle if your dog dies, they cruelly keep sending boxes AND charging you, even after you call customer care to let them know your sweet baby has died! Then over another year later you start getting boxes again AND they start charging your PayPal account which you cannot end payment. I have contacted customer care 4x in one week, with zero response from BarkBox.

I ordered this box based on a recommendation from a friend. I was very excited to get the box, and I hoped my dog was also. I received the box very quickly (4 days, compared to the email that said 3-9 days). First off, the only toy that she would play with was the one that I paid extra for, "the premium toy". The other two toys were crap, in my opinion and she wouldn't even look at them. To top it off, she would only eat one of the treats in the box. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY. So I find out that they automatically renew your box, EVEN IF YOU DON'T SIGN UP FOR THE 6 OR 12 MONTH SUBSCRIPTION.
So now I am pissed, because I thought that it was an experiment and it didn't work so I won't order again. However, I have tried contacting them several times, in all formats. They won't return phone calls, emails, texts and their "CHAT" feature never works. So this has been going on for three weeks and I find out today that they have taken more money out of my account, for the "next subscription"

The toys we received were durable, which was what was promised by the company. HOWEVER, they do NOT have any sort of organized customer service. Their "chat" option is rarely open, and if it is, no one is ever available/you are booted after 5 minutes. I have written multiple e-mails, requested calls (They do NOT have a call center number.). IF I receive any sort of contact back, it is 24 hours later or more.
I really am wanting to cancel my account before I am charged for another month, and they, of course, do not have an option to "cancel your subscription" on their drop down lists for any of the contact methods. If you are looking to sample this company (Which is why I decided to check it out using their more expensive, monthly, subscription option.), I suggest you do not, because it is not easy to get ahold of any human (and the messages they send are pre-written options they pull from a list. [I've worked customer service before, so I know how it goes.]) So, you basically have to battle your way into a real conversation with a human to get anything done. If your interested in tough toys, I suggest you just buy from their store, not the boxes.

I was excited to try out Barkbox as I had initially heard good things about them, but since I subscribed in September, I have been nothing but frustrated and disappointed. I chose a Super Chewer box subscription as my pup can chew through most normal dog toys. The problems with this company started right off the bat.
1. My very first box did not ship on time and I did not receive the box until almost the very end of the month (although they took my money immediately.)
2. My first box was supposed to be a double box. It was not. I reached out the customer service and they apologized for the mix up and said they would be sending another box as a replacement. I also had to throw out one of the plastic toys as it was cheaply made and my dog chewed through it easily and cut her gums on the sharp plastic bits.
3. After several more weeks of waiting I received the replacement box. On my account, I specifically requested that I receive the allergy friendly box as my dog is allergic to chicken. The replacement box they sent contained all chicken treats. Obviously this was infuriating.
4. Talked to customer service again to tell them they messed up AGAIN. All I got was an "Oh, sorry, we'll send another replacement." They did not acknowledge the severity of the mistake. Allergies can be potentially life threatening and they are really lucky I checked the ingredient lists.
5. Another week goes by and I haven't heard anything about the replacement for my original replacement so I send them another email which it took another few days for them to respond to. They said the request for replacement treats went through and they would email me when they are being shipped. It's been another two weeks and still have heard absolutely nothing.
6. Just got an email saying my next box is going to be delayed, but not to worry because they will wait an extra week to charge me for it as if that somehow makes everything fine.
7. It is impossible to cancel your subscription no matter how many times they mess up.
Super unhappy with this company. Not at all worth it. Subpar quality. Extremely difficult to get ahold of. Mistake after mistake. Will NEVER use again.

Since I fulfilled the original commitment, BarkBox closed my pup's account and I will not be billed again. It took a few back and forth emails before the resolution but I believe I was able to cancel not just the renewal but the remaining 9 months (after having been a member for over 2 years already).

I signed up and was locked into a 12 month auto renewing subscription. When I wanted to cancel, they kept billing me for 9 more months after having already paid for a year. The toys are not sturdy enough and they send too many fattening treats. They lock you in and won’t let you cancel without being obligated way past your current month. They also don’t send tough to chew treats or toys. NOT HAPPY!!!

Was very excited to order a 6 month subscription for BarkBox. when the box arrived one of the guys was destroyed unless than 30 minutes. Very disappointed as I ordered the Super Chewer. I tried to contact them and it took until the second box was on its way to get a response. The toy was replaced and I explained what toys usually survive my dog. After 4 boxes with no change in toys that can survive my dog I emailed to cancel the auto renew. Guess what.... Charged for another 6 months of boxes I dont want and toys that won't last a day! Tried texting and emailing with no responses. Cannot recommend this if only for customer service. My dog loves the treats but let's face it he gets excited about Cheerios.

I couldn't be any more unhappy or disappointed by BarkBox. I chose the six month subscription to give them a try, unbeknownst that if I wasn't happy - I CANNOT CANCEL. BarkBox had taken it upon themselves to opt me in to AutoRenewal at the end of the six months. There's no way I'm continuing this service. I deeply regret not getting the Goodie Box from Chewy, who I have shopped with and love. I'm stuck waiting out three more boxes, thanks to the fact I can't cancel. The toys are cheap and low quality, treats no big deal either. I could put a box together myself and hide it in the mailbox, so our dog gets the fun experience. The first box came fairly quickly, the second box? Halfway through the month, however I can count on them electronically taking money out of my account on the fourth of every month. Extremely unhappy, as of January we receive the last box, and say good riddance.

I was given a discounted box through an app called SweatCoin where I wasn't forced into a year long subscription and thought it was pretty cool. I decided to try a second box for my friend and ended up getting sucked into a 12 month commitment to this terrible company. There is no way to remove your credit card information from your account and there is no way to cancel your subscription. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. STAY AWAY!!! I can't believe that this scummy company actually exists and can take advantage of people like this. Deceiving and unethical company, do not use this company's services!

My dog doesn’t destroy toys, so the toys started to pile up. I contacted the company to cancel my subscription & received a notification that I’d still be billed until June of 2020. I called the customer service line & sent an email & I’ve yet to hear back with my request to cancel. I understand if I had committed to buying Boeing’s 737 Dreamliner that requires years of planning & commitment from the company, but this is dog treats & toys. BarkBox should be called the Bark Mafia & beware should you sign up “Jimmy” will ensure they get paid. I’ve never seen/heard of such poor customer service & the company should be ashamed. Consumers in the 21st century economy have choices for a reason & handcuffs only illustrate a terrible strategy on how to become successful.

My German Shepard destroyed almost every toy within 30 minutes of opening the box and it was NOT due to owner neglect. It was due to the toy not being “tough” enough. Horrible customer service! I tried many times to resolve the issue, including cancelling my 6 month subscription, but all they wanted was my money. They talk a good talk about “toy safety”, “durability”, “replacements”, “ making things right”. NOPE - never happened. No matter how many times I reached out - they would promise me they would make things right but all I have is a dozen or more destroyed “durable” toys! And less money in my bank account. I regret ever subscribing to BarkBox and if I could change things....I would never have subscribed and would have used the money at PetSmart. My advice - if you have a strong chewer - stay away from this company. Their promises are just a bunch of “bark”???? Positive note - the treats!

Impossible to contact. When they do respond it is meaningless drivel filled with bubbly platitudes like "this is not our norm" and give belly rubs. First issue: They immediately charged my card, but then didn't ship. A week later they say they are having a hard time filling the box and it's not the norm, but they will upgrade the shipping. Bad start.
Second issue: after 10 days and getting and now the 21st of the month, I respond to the email and ask that they not send a box in November as it would arrive shortly after. They respond with a five-paragraph email that doesn't address my request but does include a discount if I buy more stuff. Infuriating. Third issue: Box finally ships after 13 days. Sure it shipped, but with the lowest level shipping that FedEx offers. It is supposed to take 12 days to arrive. So much for upgraded shipping.
Fourth issue: I reply to the email requesting to cancel the order and get an immediate refund. No response for a week. I go to the website and fill out a complaint form requesting a phone call. They get it and send the compulsory. We got your message email, but they suggest I use a live support option if I want a response faster than 3 days. The only live support option is chat which has not been available any of the half-dozen times I have been to their website.
Fifth issue: Going to the website I see that the next box is supposed to ship before the first box has arrived, and probably before I will hear anything from BarkBox. They don't answer their phone and channel you to Facebook (no response), their website (already tried that), or an option to listen to a dog bark and hang up on you. I have filed a claim with my credit card company.

We purchased a six month subscription last November. We renewed after that was up because we were very pleased with the items and the company. They had a phone line, took care of issues (ripped toy, etc), had great themes, etc. We were extremely happy and recommended to all of our friends. Then things started going downhill. I believe the company received more orders than they could handle. The themes started getting crappy, but whatever. My dog still loved her monthly box of joy. Two months ago, our box was over two weeks late and included toys that weren’t part of the theme. Ok, I was upset but my dog was still happy. This month, our box is over two weeks late so we decided to call to find out why.
Now they have no contact number!! You can leave a message or send a text, but no one responds either way. My husband received an email stating that they ran out of toys, but that they would give a discount of 30% off any other things we wanted to buy. Excuse me? Then we received another email stating that they did not have anything, that we would receive a refund for that month. I have seen review after review of others who make videos for the company. They seem to receive everything that they are supposed to as well as on time. I have been paying with no issue for almost an entire year, but I seem to get screwed every month now.
Maybe if I made videos I’d get what I paid for. I think the company got too big and now have no way to handle it. They took away the contact phone number for a reason... Too many people not receiving their boxes on time if at all? I loved the company just 6 months ago, but I will be cancelling my subscription. I may try another monthly subscription because my dog does love her surprise packages, but it won’t be with BarkBox. Unless you plan on making videos for them on YouTube, you won’t get what you pay for.
The only reason I’m rating two stars is because the themes are cute. Otherwise, don’t waste your hard earned money on BarkBox. They don’t appreciate their customers, and there are so many other companies out there now. Bye bye, BarkBox! (The photo is of a useless toy that they sent as a replacement in a previous month when they ran out of toys. It’s not part of a theme, and my dog won’t chew on nor play with that toy. They run out of theme toys and send whatever no one else wants.)

Like others I am very dissatisfied with cheap toys and treats. Their products are very low quality. Neither to say the customer service are awful. Billed incorrect, late shipments, bad customer service. Stuck with the subscription... not able to cancel. Is this even possible to have business with all the dissatisfied customers? I will be more careful next time I sign up for the subscription.

I signed up for BarkBox in September hopeful that their toys would be durable enough to withstand my Husky's chewing. They aren't. The first box we got in September had a squirt gun toy in it and he chewed/ate that in minutes. The other toys, he hasn't gotten yet as I rotate his toys so he doesn't get bored. BarkBox said they would replace that toy but I don't need another one that he will chew up/eat so what's the point? I tried to cancel BarkBox but the fine print says you cannot and I got charged up front over $400 which is about $35 a month and I know the offer didn't say $35 a month for a Super Chewer box. So I am stuck with toys that he destroys in minutes. Would not recommend them for dogs that are big chewers.

I had a subscription for my dog but toward the end of the subscription, boxes were delayed and there was never great follow up from customer service. I let the subscription cancel and didn't think anything else. My dog really loved the boxes and destroyed the toys in no time at all. I just renewed and received 1 box but my 2nd box has disappeared! I received incorrect tracking information, alerted the team who said they were checking into it and two weeks later still no box, still no new tracking information. In fact when chat finally came back online today they still sent the wrong tracking info ... they tell me it was shipped on the 27th and I'll receive it in 2-8 business days. How ironic since my November box will now be billed in 4 days.
I informed them I want to cancel my subscription and they had the nerve to refer me to the terms and conditions - I had fulfilled my part of the deal- they received payments for September and October and never sent me a box. I will dispute every charge they place on my PayPal card and have filed a report with the better business bureau. We'll see how it plays out but I will NEVER deal with this company again.

We signed up for the 6 month subscription with extra toy in June 2019. Our first box arrived on time but two of the toys squeakers stopped working within an an and one of the bag of treats were literally rock hard and could not be fed to our puppy or any dog for that matter. I contacted customer service and they immediately offered replacement items. We waited and waited and never received anything even though it showed as being delivered. After multiple attempts at getting in touch with customer service via live chat, we received the replacements about a month later. Then comes the August box which arrived super late and I never received any tracking info for this month.
September rolls around and as usual the money is debited from my credit card at the beginning of the month but no shipping info and no box ever showed up. On October 4th we received an email advising that if we hadn’t yet received our box that we likely wouldn’t be as they were having issues at customs and couldn’t get them across the border into Canada but we would receive a free box at the end of the 6 month subscription. I responded and advised that since we paid for a box in September that we never received, the additional box was in fact not free. I followed up multiple times requesting a refund for September which I finally received yesterday after multiple emails and trying to talk to someone via live chat with no response.
Our October box has not shipped yet but we’ve been promised via email a bunch of additional goodies to make up for the missing September box and late October box. This email was dated October 15th and advised that they were hopeful to have the boxes to us by Halloween. I checked the status today and it has once again changed and now says estimated ship date is October 31st. So I’ve paid for the October box which I’ll possibly receive some time in November if it even comes and they’ll have already charged my credit card for November which who knows when we might receive that box.
This company is an absolute joke and I am beyond disappointed in the lies that are being fed to all of us. I purchased the subscription because I thought it would be such a fun thing for my puppy to receive each month but since we rarely receive a box it’s just a waste of money. My pup isn’t even 8 months old and is a Frenchton (French bulldog x Boston terrier) which isn’t a large breed and we have zero toys left as they all had to be thrown in the garbage. Crap product to go with a crappy service. They should be ashamed.

My three small elderly dogs love their boxes! My 13+ yr old chihuahua, Newman, was especially fond of the September 2018 Fluffafel toy and carried those little falafel balls everywhere. Newman was down to one and it’s now lost its squeaker! Is there any way to contact BarkBox to get a replacement toy or box from a discontinued line? I really want to get the dog new falafels since it’s one of the few joys in his sunset years.

Have been a customer since April of 2019, beginning in September the boxes contents and arrival time has declined significantly. It is now October 26th and my delivery date has been pushed back 12 times for the October box. I see that as of October 21st they are still advertising for this box at a rate of $5.00. I have paid the rate of $38.00 plus shipping and handling. I do not even know if I will receive the theme, because I see reviews that they have run out from other customers... Very upset about that because I was debited for this box on the 4th of October and should have been in the first shipments with all other pre existing customers.

I signed up for BarkBox in July 2019, for a year-long subscription for our dogs (+ 1 extra toy). Initially, everything was great. I thought the company was so thoughtful because they even sent me an email asking how the dogs liked their first box. The dogs loved the treats, they loved the toys— and the 1 toy they didn’t like, I messaged them about, and in a matter of just under a week, we were sent a replacement toy at no additional cost.
All boxes were received on the 14th-16th of every month— until this October that is. It’s now October 25th, and the dogs and I have been waiting and waiting on a box that has yet to arrive. Per the FedEx tracking number, the box was shipped on October 12th, and was “delivered” on the 16th somewhere in Missouri. I live in a state across the country, and I’ve never even visited Missouri. The time delay seemed really weird and out of character for Barkbox— given my previous fantastic experience with their customer service. So I reached out, and I inquired about my barkbox.
It took their customer service department 2-3 days to respond to me, and when they did, all they said was that the tracking info was incorrect and that the box “should still be on its way” but to keep an eye out for an email with an update from them... Two days later, one week out from the next month, here we are. Still no barkbox, still no update. I felt that this was such a dismissive response to my concerns, given that I signed up for a year-long subscription, and that they certainly have no qualms about charging my account at the beginning of every month.
What I expected them to say was, “we’ll check up on that for you and give you accurate/updated tracking info,” or to send me a new box if they couldn’t find it. Or even to refund my money for this month if they’re unable to send another one. I’m really disappointed in the way this matter is being addressed; I signed up for 1 box/month, not two boxes every other month. If they are going to be timely with charging my account, I expect them to be timely with their deliveries as well.

I prepaid for a year subscription. About 8 months in they started delivering the boxes later and later, now no box in September and now so far nothing in October. Emails sent to the customer service department and no response. I canceled my automatic renewal and would NOT recommend purchasing until company straightens this out.

They can’t get boxes shipped timely. They offered me double box for October and now tell me they are out if stock after they charged me. I will get refund. They are going to “try” to get me my October box by end of month. Last month same problem. They just advertise for more customers but can’t handle the ones they have. Really sad because it was fun the first few months.

What a horrible unprofessional company. I signed up for a 1 year subscription only to receive NOTHING my first month. Trying to reach them is like trying to break into The White House. IMPOSSIBLE! No phone #, no call back (which I requested twice). You can instant message with them, but you're lucky when you finally get someone and when you do half the time they ghost you. I still haven't received anything and had to cancel my debit card so they cannot take out future monies. If you go to their Facebook page there are so many complaints about never getting orders, months behind, and poor quality. They will not respond to anyone's concerns or complaints on their Facebook page. If it's a praise then they will comment back. Shame on you BarkBox!

Pretty disappointed with my subscription thus far. My BarkBox is supposed to ship out on the 15th of each month and it charges you around the 1st of the month. My BarkBox ship date has been pushed back 7 times. I’ve been checking every day to see if it has shipped and every day the ship date is getting pushed further and further back. I have tried to reach out via customer service email twice as well as trying their live chat about 4 times. No one is getting back to me! I am about to get charged for my pup’s next box and I haven’t even received this one! Bummer that I’m locked into a 12 month subscription and no one wants to help out. Would recommend going with a different company.

Unfortunately this company does not stand behind their products. They lock you into a year long subscription and if you’re unhappy with the products or can no longer afford them, they basically tell you “too bad”. Our boxes have been absolutely awful. Not only does our dog not like 90% of the toys, the few he has shown interest in were destroyed in less than a week.
We kindly requested to cancel after 3 months of disappointing boxes. They told us “no”, that we are locked in for the year and we can only change to “just treats” if we want out. (This does not lower the cost!) This is incredibly difficult since our dog is allergic to all poultry and beef. He can only eat fish and lamb. Limiting what we can receive dramatically. For the amount we are paying for this (now just treats) subscription, we could buy better quality products, at a higher quantity at the local pet store.
I would NOT recommend their service. They scam you out of money by trapping you into a subscription. If they believed in their products, they wouldn’t have to do that. My parents recently lost their home and we are having to take them in. We are trying to cut extra costs and BarkBox is one of them. Now we have to overpay for a service we don’t even like at a time we financially can’t afford it. Such a shame.

I subscribed to BarkBox 6 month subscription service for my dog. At first everything was hunky dory. They even sent out a replacement for some treats my dog didn't care for after I replied to their request for a review. Then my shipments started not showing up. I kept getting excuses, then they would ship it a month late. Then they would try to count the late shipment as the next month's shipment. They refunded one box they never shipped. After that I stopped getting refunds. I had upgraded my subscription to a premium box so even though I paid one fee for the standard box, there was a secondary charge for the upgrade. They would refund the charge for the standard box but charge me for the upgrade-for a box they never shipped. And they would try to convince me that I still had to pay for the upgrade charge for the extra stuff added to my box - that they never shipped.
But then they stopped refunding for boxes they never shipped and added "free" boxes to the end of my subscription: problem is these "free" boxes that I actually paid for never showed up in my account info online. These people are unbelievable scam artists. I think they even believe their own BS. After 6 emails in as many weeks requesting they cancel my subscription and refund me for the balance of what they owed me, they told me I had to do it online. When I cancelled the auto renew on my subscription yesterday (you can't actually cancel, just cancel the auto renew), it told me I wouldn't receive ANY more shipments. So basically, I paid for six months and got three. BEWARE - this company also operates under several other names - Bark Box, Bark Shop, Super Chewer, Bark Cam, and probably others as well. Consider yourself warned.

I was silly enough to give this company another chance. With first subscription for my new puppy, nothing went how it should. My very first box, two toys came broken. They said they would send replacements, however during my chat with customer service reps, somehow two people were chatting with me and there was a miscommunication and I only received one toy. Had to contact them again to get what I was supposed to. Then, after that box, I had a box get lost TWICE IN A ROW and didn’t receive it until one month later than it was due. Then I never received my box for that actual month. I gave up, but decided to try again for my pup.
Now, my box is lost, hasn’t shipped, I’ve spoken with customer service once out of the 20 or so times I’ve tried to get in contact with someone and I was blown off, and of course, my problem is not solved. BBB, here I come. Do NOT subscribe to this company. The products are not worth the hassle and I’d rather pay more money just to buy individual things for my pup on my own. We deserve better.

We joined BarkBox Jan 2019 with a 12 month subscription (plus extra toy). While the toys and treats are great (we have two Siberian Huskies) - the shipping is horrible. I've had to reach out to their service team three times to find out where our box was. Each time they claim: "It's coming now!" Five of our monthly boxes have been late of the first nine months of the subscription - over half late. BarkBox either needs to figure out their shipping issues OR reset expectations with all of their customers and set a more realistic timeline so that we're not waiting/watching/wondering if the box will ever ship. HORRIBLE shipping service.

I’ve been ordering BarkBox for over a year but it seems like the way they deliver it take too long for Canadians. Sometimes I get two boxes at once because one month was so behind which is not ideal. I pay monthly to get the boxes monthly not two in one month.

Wish I'd reviewed BarkBox prior to ordering and I would have seen that they refuse to cancel your subscription request. Got my first box and monthly subscription and cancel immediately after received first box, I thought. No phone number to call first red flag. Three emails and they finally responded acting like the cancelled future orders. Nope they billed and send another box. Online chat employees were all unethical, liars, and refused to help. Called my credit card company who revoked their payment and handled the issue. BarkBox is a bunch of scammers and unethical employees in my opinion!

I placed an order on September 17th, subscribing for six months. I then forgot about it and went about my life until a little while later when I received an email saying that they were upgrading warehouses so it might be a little bit longer. To make up for this they gave me my October box for free. Fast forward another week and I receive an email stating that it was going to take awhile longer and that I would be refunded as well as receive a cartoon drawing of my pup.
Fast forward another week and I was told to expect my box on or before the 7th and that it would be shipped overnight! Yay! So excited! Until the 7th rolls around. No box. The 8th. No box. The 9th. No box. It is now the 14th of October and I have yet to receive my first box. I spoke with a customer service rep via text and was told my box never even left the warehouse! The main reason I am so irritated is because I've avoided spending money on other toys in anticipation of this box. Can't comment on the actual contents of box because it has yet to come.

I’ve been getting BarkBox for my dog for about 20 months and my dog loves the treats and toys. We have had a great experience until recently. It started when I got an offer to double my (prepaid) monthly box with an 11% discount if I make that double ongoing, but after subscribing to it, the discount didn’t get applied until after I sent them proof (at their request) that they even gave me the offer.
Then that next box shipped very late, and the shipping date kept moving out. The company starting ignoring my inquiries about shipping date and offered no compensation for the delay. This month, my box isn’t doubled. I went back and validated that they have record of my doubling, and I have an email from customer service showing they have this. I don’t know what’s happened recently, but their reliability isn’t there and they aren’t making doing anything to compensate for their issues. It’s really too bad because until recently we were raving fans.

BarkBox advertised on Instagram for $9 first box. I signed up for the deal but was charged $31 for the first box. I contacted customer service and was basically told there was nothing they would do. They said I signed up for a different deal EVEN THOUGH I purposely screenshotted the deal and provided proof. I asked to cancel and they said no. I've never seen such horrible customer service.

I have read some very similar reviews to my experience so I thought I would share mine. I am Canadian and I Ordered this product, called the big Chewer BarkBox. The website had me fill out all my details included my Canadian postal code etc. after I paid the 47 US - Which is around 64 Canadian I received an email the next day from them saying they were sorry I hadn't received my box yet and gave me a coupon code. I told them I had only ordered it the day before and not to worry. A few days late I got the same email from another persona apologizing and giving me another coupon code. After about a week and a half I emailed to inquire about my order and they said that since they were having troubles at customs they refunded my order and were not sure they could get it to me. Which is odd because how do they not know that they cant ship to Canada but have an area for you to enter a Postal code and not a zip code? I cant be the first Canadian and by reading these reviews I can assure you I'm not the first Canadian to try and order this product and have my money taken.
When they refunded me it was not for the full amount they took from my account. They insisted that they refunded the full amount so I sent them the screenshot of the two transactions coming and refunding to my account. The difference is only 5 dollars but I still want an explanation because I cant imagine how many Canadians this has happened to... And 5 dollars from each scammed person adds up. I agree with other reviews. They are all very friendly but no one is helpful and I warn against other Canadians ordering from this site that does not indicated that they will ship your order knowing full well it will get stuck at the border and then refund you for less than you paid in Canadian Dollars.

BEWARE! If you ever desire to stop your BarkBox account, they literally won't let you!! In August I attempted to cancel my account. I went through all the proper channels, it was agreed that I was not on a special plan and that would be my last shipment. September rolls around and my card gets charged and a Barkbox showed up. Some wishy washy response said that there was a mistake and that September was my last shipment. There was no offer to credit my account for THEIR error. I thought, "Fine, at least it's done!"
And then they proceeded to send me emails trying to negotiate my cancellation. I'm sorry but when a company is willing to discount your price to keep you, I feel taken advantage of that they didn't reward me for being a long standing loyal customer. I finally ended the last email exchange with, "Please, NO more negotiations. Just cancel my account." And would you believe I just got a FedEx alert that my October Barkbox is on the way?!?! Seriously???? I'm going to have to put a stop payment on my account to finally quit Barkbox. Barkbox... SHAME ON YOU!

I tried to cancel my Barkbox subscription recently, and was told it could not be cancelled until my 12 MONTH subscription was over. What the HELL? This was never made clear when I signed up for a month. I never would have signed up if I could see this was a YEAR COMMITMENT. The full cost was never displayed, and never read that we could NOT cancel our subscription. Turns out I was not the only one to be misled, judging from all the negative reviews. BarkBox deserves to lose business or be shut down until it corrects its advertising and allows users to unsubscribe much more easily.

I ordered three basic toys as a gift to celebrate my friend’s Gotcha Day this upcoming week. BarkShop immediately accepted my purchase, removed the money from my bank account, and I heard nothing for days. I then received an e-mail from them stating they are aware that my “replacement” order had been delayed, however included minimal details and included a coupon code as an apparent apology.
After a couple more days, I reached out for an update. It took three more days to receive a response, stating that they could not fulfill my order, offered me yet another coupon, and said I had been reimbursed my full purchase amount. There is still a full charge in my bank account. I never received a refund. Why would it take nine whole days to acknowledge that my order would never arrive and that they would keep my money? I’m still waiting for a response to my email, as calling the company failed to connect me to an actual human to talk to. And why would I use a coupon code to purchase even more items that I would never receive but ultimately still have to pay for? I wish I had read the terrible reviews over the last few months on this website, I never would have wasted my time. I don’t understand why this company has a good BBB grade, it seems like a complete scam.

BarkBox is disgusting garbage. Their toys are nowhere near the quality the company portrays them to be. Customer support is non existent, including their live chat option that nobody ever answers and you are not allowed to cancel regardless of your disdain for their products and service. I had signed up for BarkBox deal, $5 for the first box and regular cost after. I have two dogs, one is a puppy. He chews everything. I received 3 boxes and just decided it wasn't worth the cost. I have done many of these intro deals and we used to own a box company ourselves. They do the intro boxes to get you in the door and hope you stay. However, BarkBox has taken it to a new level and won't let you out of the commitment without having to pay to get out! It's a TERRIBLE customer service policy.
To be honest, one toy was actually really good. All but one of the others were just, eh. And one neither my dog even touched. And the treats were boring, unoriginal, and definitely not worth it. Unless you are SURE you want to receive this box for the next 6 or 12 months, DO NOT fall for their intro deal! According to the Bark Box representative I spoke with, "The $5 box is not meant as a trial box in any way."... Well, okay then. Peace out. I'll pay my fee to get out then.

Placed my order for a 6-month subscription (+ extra toy) on August 9. 2019. Today on October 1, 2019, I received my first box. I've spoken to multiple representatives that each told me different stories on the status of box shipments. The most up-to-date story is that the August box was shipped late last week (~1.5 months after order). The September box delivered today contains their classic items, which means the extra toy I paid for is not included. It also doesn't match the items showing on my profile asking for review. Although everyone is so friendly, no one has actually been helpful yet. Shipments are late to send and aren't correct to order. The discrepancy to stories are the most concerning, because I originally required about the August box prior to September.

I’ve had BarkBox for almost a year and they have been great till July. Customer service responded in hours, boxes were always on time if not early, and always received everything as promised. Starting in July I received a box shorted one toy which they sent a replacement for the next week, August’s box was missing chews which they said would be made up for in September, and on 9/18 I hadn’t received my box yet so I emailed to see when it would arrive. On 9/20 I was told by Jasmine that my box would arrive that day which it did not. I emailed 9/23 letting them know and requesting a tracking number but never got a response.
On 9/26 after looking at the reviews online I tried to call but was on hold for over ten minutes, hung up and emailed them letting them know that if I did not hear back from them by 9/30 I would be filing a dispute with my credit card company. Still haven’t heard anything from Barkbox, haven’t received my box, and had to spend more money to get treats and toys since my dog is out. Cancelled subscription which should end on 11/5 and hopefully it doesn’t still renew like so many others I’ve read on here.

My dog is at high risk/borderline for DCM, so she can't have peas/potatoes/legumes. Our first Barkbox came and 2/3 treats had these ingredients in it. I contacted customer service and asked them what my options were because my dog couldn't eat the treats we paid for. He said, "You may donate it to your neatest animal shelter or dog rescue center!" Really? Terrible customer service.

I placed my account to not auto renew this year, yet it did anyway and now I'm stuck with another ** year bex5i. Can't get them to just cancel it. What's the point of placing on not to auto renew when they ignore it and place you on a year long regardless of it and then it leaves you stuck when you just want to cancel. This is horrible practice. I'm definitely NOT happy with this.

I’ve used BarkShop a few times and I’ve never had an easy experience. In July 2018 I placed an order for a puppy client’s birthday gift and it was a long and painful debacle of items not being shipped/going missing. After that I began to use other providers for treats and toys. I finally decided to give BarkShop another try, and unfortunately I am having the same issue all over again. They are currently saying that due to “upgrading warehouse systems there have been some growing pains.” This is exactly the same excuse I was given 14 months ago!
Once again, this is for a birthday gift. I ordered the items with plenty of notice AND in accordance with the shipping times shown on the website. It’s unbelievable that this would happen all over again! And now, I can’t even log on to my account as I’m constantly thrown out of the website. Their reputation is fast losing credibility amongst those of us who work in the pet industry. There are numerous incidents whereby they are taking orders that they then can’t deliver on. I’m not sure if they’re struggling to stay afloat, but something is definitely amiss here.

I have used Bark Box for about a year and decided I wanted to cancel the subscription because it was a bit pricey. I logged into my account and deactivated it, however, it continued to tell me that I would receive 5 more months of the box which is ridiculous! Every online subscription whether it is a meal plan, shoes, clothes, etc. - when cancelling, it cancels immediately for the upcoming month. I have attempted to contact Bark Box for 4 days and they only allow text messages and email. No one called me for 4 days and I then missed the call - 2 minutes later, I texted and emailed to call me back - NO RESPONSE!!! This is the worst experience I have ever had with dealing with an online company! They are absolutely non responsive and have the worst customer service to date! If you don't want to continue your service forever - DO NOT START THIS SUBSCRIPTION!!!!

Updated on 10/22/2019: So after leaving a bad review the team lead did contact me trying to resolve it. I gave my trust in her to make it right after she said this would not happen again. I ordered again trusting her word and it's the same thing all over again. My first box says it is supposed to ship October 11, it is now October 22 and there is absolutely no movement on it whatsoever. My second box once again has kept getting pushed off farther and farther and now won't ship till the 25th which when we get boxes it takes around 5 to 7 business days for them to arrive. Which means we won't get the October box till November. I have contacted the Team Lead about this issue and as usual I have no response on the matter. This is not earning your customers trust back, it just makes it worse. I did check the site and the company guarantees the boxes to ship around the 15th of the month.
Original review: This was a horrible experience, I have subscribed 4 different times over the course of 2 yrs. Spending a total of $69 for a classic and superchewer box a month. Every time I subscribe it ends up being problems from beginning to end. Their durable plush are easily shredded, customer service and attitude are horrible, when asked numerous times not to put rope toys or rawhide chews in the boxes they still add them and while asking for that change they mess the whole box up, boxes for one month get pushed off till the next month, not receiving a box until you've contacted them several times it ends up coming the last day of the month or pushed to the next month, you can't even call them anymore you have to request a call. When you request a call several times they don't call you back. You get kicked off chat after they've told you they were gonna get a team member to help. When they kick you off they tell you to email and you do this several times with no reply. I cancelled once again and will most likely not go back.

I signed up through Ibotta for a $5 box with $10 cashback. The terms did not state I could not purchase the one month box. I received the box and $10 cashback and then hit with a charge for $27. I contact Barkbox and they tell me the promo was not valid on the one month renewing subscription and that I have to receive 6 boxes. This was not stated anywhere on their website or Ibotta. Support will not cancel my subscriptions and is trying to charge me for 6 months. I pointed the terms out to Barkbox and am awaiting a reply. If they continue to charge me I will escalate to the attorney general and I recommend everyone else contact their consumer protections state department.

Very deceptive on practices. Says it will not be a renewal after the 12 months is up. Try calling each time is something else. Wants to sell you a vacation then wants you to leave name and number. (probably like their promo answering. want to sell your number.) We lost our dog due to health conditions and the 77-year-old is torn up when a BarkBox comes in. He is paying for it and yet cannot get it stopped.

So, I bought A 1 year membership for my dog then cancelled the auto renewal. I still have the email of my confirmed cancellation. Well she enjoys a few BarkBoxes but they hardly ever last because the toys are pretty cheap and probably only for small dogs. Then a year later after I got my last bark box of the subscription, I get an email saying another one is on its way. So I check my account, she’s been signed up for another year, obviously not by me. I’m over the service. It was subpar while it lasted. SO then I check my bank account, and wouldn’t ya know it, I'VE BEEN CHARGED FOR THE FULL AMOUNT OF ANOTHER YEAR.
No one will response to me on ANY platforms, I’m honestly so aggravated and annoyed because that money wasn’t theirs to take. I have proof in emails saying I ended the subscription a year ago. And no one from the company will even respond. I am so done with the company as a whole, and I will tell as many people as possible to NEVER buy anything from this company.

Got a 1 year plan on September 28 2018. Figured I had till close to the end of September to cancel. Wrong, it auto-renewed on September 3rd. As others pointed out, no email message that it was going to auto renew on such and such date. Sent them messages each day about how I didn't want it auto-renewed. Two days ago I get an email that said they would be more than happy to cancel my subscription. Today I get an email that said, (putting it short) "What we mean by cancelling it is we won't auto renew it." Sorry this is bad business all the way around.

Started out very happy, but over time they stopped sending shipment confirmations, then stopped sending boxes. Always have an excuse. I've been told that they ran out, or "extenuating circumstances". Tired of constantly trying to get a hold of them. Spoke to a supervisor today and she refused to let me cancel after two missed shipments... told her we could quietly part ways, or I could share with friends and family how I was being held hostage by a company that was not holding up their end of the agreement and she said I could do what I felt I needed to do... so here I am. I will continue to write negative reviews sharing my experience until they either start sending my shipments or let me cancel.

Horrible customer service. I did not want to do monthly so I bought the 1 month delivery. After that box came, I would decide if I wanted to continue or cancel. After many emails to find out how to cancel after the first box came. I received NO help or answers. I emailed them cancel me now several times. I messaged them through their chat. Every request to cancel has been ignored. You can’t talk to anyone either. The phone message says you can message on Facebook messenger and hangs up. Now I have to sue with my bank since this place is so lame. I don’t want any toys either. Just a way to save them money on giving actual value.

The charge was made at 1 AM today on my PayPal account. It came without warning, no email reminder, nothing. It is going to cause a cascade of over-draft fees on my bank account as a result. Between 7 and 9 AM today, I emailed and I used the contact form to request a refund and cancellation of the renewal. I did not receive any response or follow-up at all. I know that the box is not even sent yet because I still have time to customize it with add-ons for 2 more days...but no response.
So I tried chat. I got an immediate and satisfactory resolution via online chat. I even have the confirmation email from PayPal of processed refund, although it will be a few days before I see the funds in my account. Sarah assisted me. She was sympathetic to my plight and was very polite and professional. Not only that, it was the outcome that I wanted. No - it probably won't stop the overdraft fees that are going to hit me, but at least it softens the blow.
I would recommend that the DEFAULT for any new customer be set to NO auto-renewal. Let the customer turn that on if they want it. I also recommend email reminders of the upcoming renewal. These tactics are nothing short of fleecing customers caught unawares. I do appreciate that the cancellation policy in effect did not prevent my cancellation. I expect that is because I resolved this on the same day as the renewal and nothing has been sent. I like the service in general, just not the billing tactics. I may re-up after tax season for another 6 months, but I really want to see BarkBox end the auto-renewal structure. It left a bad taste in my mouth. We do have auto-renewal feature because many members of our pack do auto-renew after each commitment and do not want to miss out on the fun, or worry about logging in and reactivating each time. I completely understand how this can catch you off guard if you are not expecting the charge, especially for an upfront plan.
We do want to let you know that if you were to sign up again in the future, you can turn your auto-renewal off right away so you will not have to worry about it when the renewal time comes. We can help you with this as well!

My dog is a miniature dachshund. Yes he is roust and what not. Like any other dog. But in August in particular they sent out pigs' ears. Even after a recall of pigs' ears was issued by the Food and Drug Administration. Because it could get people sick from salmonella. They still sent them out. No apologies, they do not care. I know I signed up for the 6 month plan because I thought my dog was going to enjoy these. I had gotten the small super chewer but these toys are so big for this tiny wiener he can’t even get to them. So they said they would switch him to the regular BarkBox that indeed is 25$ and not the 35$. They sent a replacement for the treats he cannot eat since he is allergic to wheat & soy. But these two toys are cute but they don’t seem to please him. It’s hard to get on a chat with anyone from the team. And sometimes it’s the only way to get to them by.
I honestly prefer to spend my money on his pet health insurance & buy him his own toys and treats. Because they also said they would bill every other month to make things easier. THAT WAS A LIE! Billed again. I just want to cancel my whole debit card because this is ridiculous. I just want to cancel. It has been 2 months now I believe. But my dog has so much more fun with a water bottle than he does with any toy. At this point his health and his well-being and my sanity’s wellness is what’s bothering me. This box makes you sign that lengthy contract. I’ve never had this problem with any other types of subscription service. With this type of service they are driving customers away.

My overall experience with BarkBox was awesome. I love the ability to gift my dogs durable and really uniquely designed dog toys. I bought three of the newer toys the ice cream, UFO, and Penny the pineapple. My three dogs enjoyed them very much and are obsessed overall. Thank you!

I tried to talk to somebody through customer service via email. After no response for a couple day I went ahead and just ordered. Then a couple days later I finally get a response to my email and they went in and screwed up my subscription. My box that was supposedly being shipped was no longer showing up. I “chat live” then with someone and they gave me a tracking number assuring me my order had been shipped. I looked it up and it was an old tracking number. They haven’t shipped anything but charges me for it.
I tried to talk to yet another person online chat because every time I call no one is available. I waited 20 minutes and had gotten kicked out and had to start all over in the waiting line. At this point I've wasted 1.5 hours on live chats. They ended by saying they would ship a box and fix the subscription issue. 2 days later nothing has changed on account. No shipment in progress and no one will respond on text or Facebook messenger. I went to Better Business Bureau and see I’m not the only customer who has been treated this way.

I ordered BarkBox to try for a month. My animals destroyed the toys in less than 2 hours (I had ordered the super chewer). When I went to cancel, BarkBox stated it would be cancelled after 6 months. I explained that I was unhappy and would like to cancel immediately. They told me no. I stopped authorization on my credit card. They went through PayPal and made a second request for funds and actually took money out of an account that I NEVER even gave them information about it. PayPal stated that merchants will try and go in and charge ANY account that is connected to your PayPal account. I contacted BarkBox again and just keep getting the runaround (with nice ...."Ooohhh we’re sorry, we can fix this emails"). Now NO ONE is responding back to me. This is a SHADY COMPANY. They even tried to blame PayPal. Can anyone say “class action”. Very disappointed.

My dog has health conditions which don't allow her to eat certain treats. Bark Box said they could customize so that she received the treats she could eat, yet every month, she would receive treats that she was not able to eat and then I would call and they would eventually send the correct treats. This has happened with every box, even though they have notes saying what she can and cannot receive. I ended up cancelling my subscription because it was a hassle and though the toys are cute, she barely touches them. If someone had a peanut allergy or family member with one, beware, even though it may be listed in your profile to not receive trades with peanuts, they will still send them.

So many negative reviews lately! I bought a six-month gift for my father and his dogs. The dogs liked the service! :) We were happy with the product and boxes. The issue is dishonest customer service and difficulty to cancel membership. I remember signing up via the chat messenger. The employee KNEW it was a gift for six months. He must have then signed me up for a renewable account and I was charged for another six months with no email notification. When contacting the company (phone and chat sometimes doesn't work), there is no "change or end" service button on my account that I can choose. They agreed to refund me 115/135 charged to my card since they already sent out another box to my father. I'm dissatisfied with that response because I feel that they choose to trick consumers out of their money with dishonest services that I didn't want.

I saw a promotional offer on their site saying that I could get a free extra toy with a purchase of a 6/12-month plan. I went for the 12-month. I was offered another toy at checkout for $9, so I started a chat online to verify that the extra toy was free. It wasn't. There was a glitch in their system and I was assured that I would be manually enrolled in that promotional offer. That was great, everything went as expected. Come next month I'm charged for the additional toy. I submit another support request and was informed there was another glitch in their system. I was assured I'd be credited the $9 that was overcharged and I was. I was charged $31 and then credited $9, so everything was fine and I was patiently awaiting the box.
They are supposed to arrive around the 15th but mine never came so I logged into my account and saw that my dog's subscription had been cancelled and there was no box being processed for him. I was never refunded the full amount and I was never sent a box. I sent another support request, but at this point it's likely there will be glitches in their system each month going forward. This has been the absolute worst experience I've had with any kind of vendor.

I have two dogs. I thought BarkBox looked like a good deal so I signed up for a one year subscription for each dog. I received two boxes of junk. The toys are cheap, made in China, and potentially deadly to pets. The boxes are way overpriced. I immediately contacted Barkbox and stated that I was not happy and I wanted to cancel both subscriptions. I was told “You signed up for two subscriptions and we will continue to send two boxes each month and bill you for them for the next 12 months and there nothing you can do about it”. Barkbox runs subscription scams and needs to be shut down if not for that, for the danger they are putting our pets in by giving them edibles/chewable made in China.

Buyer beware!! We've been unable to discontinue our subscription and our consistent attempts to reach anyone there about a refund have been unanswered. If you have a small pup that plays nicely with their toys, this might be great for you. We have a terrier and a German Shepherd, both enjoying shredding furry, soft toys. And that is all you get with these boxes, soft, fuzzy toys. We timed our terrier once. He completely dismantled and destuffed a toy in 2 minutes flat. That's the cheap quality you will be receiving. The themes are adorable and treats are great, but we got this box for the toys and have been utterly underwhelmed. Not only that, but they are now a health hazard to our dogs because the easily shredded material is then easily ingested as well.
Dear BarkBox, We have been trying to cancel our BarkBox for 6 months. We've texted you, called you, emailed you, Facebook messaged you. No one responds and we just got charged for another subscription renewal. Your toys are cheaply made and our dog ingests them and has almost had to have surgery. It seems impossible to speak with a real human being. Of our documented dozen attempts to contact you, I've spoken with a real person ONCE. They promised an upgrade to our toys. We never received the upgrade and have been trying to cancel ever since. That was back in February 2019.

This company has caused me and my family extreme emotional distress. When I cancelled our membership one of their employees took to social media calling me horrible names because I didn’t agree with their cancellation policy which is NOT “cancel at any time”... Their employee Jeffery, rudely told us to read the fine print and that we can only cancel within 30 days of sign up or we have to pay for 6 full months of boxes. I explained to him my mother had cancer and we had to immediately move to help her and couldn’t afford to pay for BarkBoxes any longer. He said too bad, we have to pay. He bashed us online for many months saying we were horrible customers etc.. and using names like ** to describe me.
We called and wrote BarkBox several times and let them know what was going on. For months nothing was done. We never even received an apology until I asked for one after ANOTHER call and spoke with their managers “Christine” on the phone and “Sean” in an email. No refund was given, nothing except a brief apology and supposedly removed from their system. They said they cancelled our account and we wouldn’t receive future solicitation from them only to be sent an email days later saying our “August BarkBox has shipped”.... Seriously? So obviously we are STILL being charged! AND Sean knows we don’t even live at that address anymore but they still shipped a box there. This company is awful. I am saddened to find out pets have died from BarkBox toys being choking hazards as well. Please stay away from this company, they do NOT care about people or pets, just our money. We have been and continued to be traumatized by BarkBox!

I have been with BarkBox for over a year and have tried to cancel several times but they make it very hard as it is impossible to reach anyone at customer service and they just continue to automatically renew you by charging your credit card which you can't delete from their website. They know they are holding their customers hostage, but it is profitable so they continue. Such a shame. The dog treats in the Bark boxes are loaded in sugar so pay attention to the ingredient label. I used the Barkbox service for 6 months. At the end of my commitment, I called and cancelled. One month later I received yet another box. When I called to tell them of their mistake, I was told that in the small print of the contract, that at the end of the commitment time, you automatically are re-enrolled for autoship. When I told them I had cancelled a month prior because I had no further interest in the program and would like to return the unopened, unwanted box, I was told they do not do returns. My credit card was charged and they had my money for a subscription box that I had cancelled a month before. I have reached out to them on various FB pages and challenged them to do the right thing and take back their box. They blocked me and now ignore me. This company has a horrible no return policy and awful customer service. Stay far far away.

At first I enjoyed this service. Great idea, great design. I ordered the subscription box with an extra toy. However my dog is simply too small to play with the BarkBox toys, so I attempted to cancel the first time. They talked me into receiving a “treats only” box every other month. Unfortunately they didn’t send me treats only boxes but instead the normal subscription box with one LESS toy. After having to call to correct the order multiple months, I finally cancelled in May.
However I was charged again in July for the subscription I cancelled two months earlier. So I contacted customer service AGAIN and was told, "so sorry (again), we have cancelled your order and will issue a refund." Of course I subsequently received a box with the WRONG items AGAIN and NO REFUND. I really can’t believe how much of my time and energy I’ve had to devote to this problem, and I see no end in sight. I curse the day I signed up for this service and provided my credit card number.

Let me start off by saying I have a full pack here. Complete with 4 dogs. That’s right. Four, gorgeous, big, psychotic, VERY spoiled, energizer-bunny-like dogs. (Two huskies and two Belgian Malinois to give you a better idea.) Now to be honest- I was skeptical about BarkBox. I knew people that had little dogs, labs and collies that were getting them... but my four? Well, they’re monsters. Lol. I couldn’t imagine that this would be a good fit so I brushed it off. I was spending a better part of $120-150 every TWO weeks on toys. And our huskies looove stuffed toys.... so I was finding fluff everywhere. Every day. It was never ending. So, begrudgingly, I reconsidered BarkBox. I ran into a bit of an issue after I ordered, because I found out about the Super Chewers BarkBox. So I called and was blown away at how extremely accommodating their customer service reps are!!
My first box had already been shipped out (They’re quick, people!) so there was nothing she could do there, but she offered to send me out a couple Super Chewers toys to hold us over until our next box free of charge!! SO FAR- Our BarkBox came & My dogs liked all the treats but surprisingly LOVED all the toys! I was impressed, not only were they given 3 toys, but there’re toys INSIDE of toys. So after they ripped them open, there was still something to play with! They lasted a good while, but they’re no match for this pack! We’re looking forward to our Super Chewer box. Overall, I’m very happy with my experience so far!

I was very excited when I saw that BarkShop was having a sell, so obviously I bought something for my up-coming puppy. On the email, it says it'll be a standard shipping (3-8 days). However it took more than 2 weeks for me to receive my order! I couldn't wait to open my order when I saw the box. The toys are cute, but when I checked my email (order confirmation), one of the toys is missing. I didn't get an email saying that they ran out of that toy, nor a refund. Their communication with the customers is just absurd. Products are great, customer service not too great.

The BarkBox product is a great idea and my dog enjoys getting the toys. The treats not so much. My problem is with trying to cancel the subscription. I originally signed up for the six month subscription with an extra toy. After about four months we had so many toys and treats ahead I was giving the boxes away to friends. I thought I could stop receiving the boxes for awhile, then restart once we had used up what we had. I reachaed out to cancel but was told they had just renewed my subscription for another six months. I could deactivate the subscription, stop the boxes and continue paying until the six months were up or continue getting the boxes. I am not paying for something I don't receive so we continue getting the boxes. Now I see that my original charge of around $27.00 per month has gone up to $37.00 per month with no explanation. This whole ordeal has made me not like or appreciate what is a good idea, just not for me.

I used to love BarkBox, but that has quickly changed! I placed an order, received confirmation, and then found out 3 weeks later that my order was canceled only when I logged in online to see why things were taking so long. I didn’t receive an email or a message, just my order with “cancelled” written underneath it. I reached out to customer service, and they promised me the rest of my box would ship the following week. And today, I received a message saying that the rest of my order is now cancelled as well. They take your money, wait a month, and then tell you the things you ordered are no longer available! DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM.

Dog has gotten sick from last 2 barkboxes. Already turned off auto-renew, but have been trying to cancel with Barkbox given that we can no longer use the product. They have been unresponsive thus far. Customer Service department seems to be non-existent or purposely making it difficult to cancel. Have texted to several different numbers provided on their website. Have messaged them on FB messenger twice as well as tried to calling multiple times. I think it is important for people to be aware of the lack of customer service and inability to cancel when they are issues.

I have Reached out via phone, sends me a text, text no response and email with no reply. Then messengers says we’re unable to chat. I’m not sure but why is there no way to contact customer service? We ordered this with a six month subscription, added extra toys, and added customized balls. This month we received half the order and someone else customized balls. I’m texting out this avenue to hopefully receive a response. I'm completely disappointed in the fact that I cannot reach anyone to fix the mistake on shipping. This is not how I expect a customer service in anyway. They were quick to charge and accept my money but not quick to Respond. Very disappointed in what I thought would be awesome for our new puppy.

We got a rescue pup in March so I signed up for BarkBox right away. First two boxes were really cute and lasted, but he's twice the size and twice the chewer he was just a couple of months ago. SO... I upgraded the regular BarkBox to Super Chewer after a couple of months as it became apparent that he could destroy the regular toys within minutes. I did this via my account on the site. First try: In May via the site, got a confirmation that the change was made, then still received the regular box in June.
Second try: Contacted customer service via email, and got a nice letter saying no problem, July's box will be a Super Chewer. Yet here I stand in a pile of fluff that was an intact toy about 20 minutes ago, as they again failed to upgrade my order to the Super Chewer box. I sent another email and we will see how they handle it, but I am VERY tired of paying $22 per month for what is essentially a bunch of plastic and fluff that ends up destroyed in minutes and is giving my dog poop problems. I stupidly signed up for 12 months so I am stuck with this crap until January, otherwise, I would just cancel.

The first box was three times the subsequent boxes. Last box had two (2) small toys, and two small bags of treats. They also include some useless items to fill the box. This one had a paper lp record yes a record like a 45 but it was cardboard. Not sure what I'm suppose to do with that, lots of paper and fluff to fill the box but 4 $2 items for $20 bucks, I think not. Cancelled subscription.

Absolutely horrible! I signed up for six months and was told if I pay 6 months all at once it would be a 10% discount. I was charged the 6 months, AND also charged for one month at the normal price!!! When I talked with customer service to refund the one month charge, they basically told me that's how they do it and too bad. What a scam! Why would anyone pay 6 months at once for 10% off, and then be fine with actually paying MORE than that??

I ordered for BarkBox for my puppy and got a 3 month subscription. I only ever got 2/3 boxes for the prepaid subscription and despite customer service telling me they would send the third a while back, it never did happen. I also got a super chewer box subscription for a friend's dog and the boxes have come twice in four months for a yearly subscription that was prepaid (not cheap!). Not only do the boxes not come monthly, but the dog has destroyed every "indestructible" toy he has gotten. Customer service has been contacted and say they will replace the toys, but that has not yet happened (although this contact was only a few days ago, in fairness).
I am very disappointed in the service and I feel ripped off. And for the record, both houses I paid for subscriptions for have security cameras and the boxes were not stolen, just not shipped. I spent a lot of money with this company and got very little in return. I would not recommend BarkBox to anyone. The cat got more enjoyment from the box than the dogs did.

I ordered BarkBox during the holiday season for my 2 small dogs. When the items started arriving - 85% of the items are not appropriate for my little guys. When I e-mailed BarkBox with the issue and then attempted to cancel - nothing changed. Apparently, all subscriptions are auto-renew, with no notification. They didn't let me cancel the first time, and then I missed the auto-renew date - so I'm captive now for 6 more months. I have dogs that weigh 5 lbs and 15 lbs. The treats and toys in many instances are too big, and also how many treats can a dog eat? Good thing, most of the items I've received have gone to rescues or friends with newly adopted dogs. No other subscription service holds you, hostage, this long. (Most are cancel at any time). Do not go here - much easier if you order online from Petco or Chewy.com (Petsmart on-line) and get what you want when you need it.

I have been getting the Barkbox for my Golden Retriever for a little over a year now and he is IN LOVE with his box. He knows every month when it comes in the mail and loses it! I put the box down for him to go through it and it's as happy as he could be. Every month we get two bags of treats, a bone, and at least two toys. He did happen to destroy one toy instantly when we got it. So I reached out to the customer service department and they sent him a brand new toy that was a little better for hard chewers. I highly recommend trying the subscription out if your dog enjoys toys and cookies.

I have been trying to cancel my BarkBox service for months. They REFUSE to let me cancel. They keep charging. I had to go to my bank and have them cancel my card to get the charges to stop. This place is ridiculous. What do they do when a dog passes away (not my situation but something to be considered)... Just keep sending boxes tormenting the owner with reminders of their beloved lost pet? I am DISGUSTED. And the email responses when you request to cancel are filled with guilt trips... "Doesn't *insert pet's name here* expect their box every month?" "You wouldn't want *insert pet's name here* to be disappointed, would you?" YOU ARE DISGUSTING BARKBOX and I will tell EVERYONE I know what horrid SCAM ARTISTS you really are.

If I could give them a ZERO star I would! This company is a joke! First couple boxes were great. Then they started giving my dog a plastic ball that she would try to eat. Send your new toys if they rip them up? Good luck! They may send you one! Try to cancel - I have been for 4 months and somehow they still seem to take money out of my account. Try to get a hold of a manager? HA, no such thing! Think twice before you sign up for this company! BIG RIP OFF!

I was previously a Barkbox subscriber for a year or two, but had canceled due to the volume of treats I still had. My previous experiences were fantastic. I recently decided to subscribe to the Super Chewer box, but had a few questions before I did so. I contacted the customer service email address, with no response. I received a Barkbox welcome email after I hesitatingly placed my order, and replied to the email, notifying Barkbox that I still had questions-no response. I finally went to their Facebook page and sent them an instant message-they replied and answered my question.
I asked them when I could expect to receive my first box, and they told me the first box ships out immediately, and that they could look up my order if I supplied my email address. I supplied the email address and the person who had been on the other end of the "chat" did not respond. I sent another. I'm asking if they were working on checking my order status, and no response. Have no idea if I will ever receive the box I ordered, but am canceling my subscription today. Customer service 2 years ago was a 10/10... Today it is 1/10.

I have recently signed up for a 12 month subscription. It is quite expensive since I live in Canada, roughly 40$ per month for the classic plan with shipping and exchange rate. However I thought it would be worth it as I also got the promotion with the extra toy and I have ordered from Barkshop before and the toys and treats that I ordered have been a hit with my picky dog Ryker. I also have had nothing but good experiences with customer service. I like that there is a customization option a well as like I said Ryker is picky and this way I don't have to go the pet store and waste time picking out appropriate toys and treats every month to keep him entertained as he is a chewer and is quite attention seeking.
Like I mentioned the customer service is also great. They seem to rectify issues in a timely manner. However, since signing up I have already have to contact them 3 times. First time for the customization option which as I pointed out is great thing! (Unfortunately you can only customize after the first box). Second time was because they sent out a rope toy that was a hazard for my dog (they quickly rectified the issue and sent out a replacement).
Third time was when they sent out a rope toy again after they had assured me that they had customized my box to never receive rope toys (it must have been on a mistake on their end) and they have just sent a replacement toy to make up for that which I appreciate. The only thing is I am worried about is I will have to contact them every month because of the toys durability. They did switch me over to the more durable classic plan so hopefully the toys going forward are more durable and no more issues will arise.

I tried BarkBox on a one time deal I had received. My pup enjoyed the products well enough but she's a chewer and toys don't last long, therefore I don't think for the price that it's worth it. I had selected to purchase a one-time box which is the only thing I could select for the deal I had, but later on I found that my credit card was charged for another box. I've been trying to cancel the box and get my refund, but they won't work with me at all. I'm even willing to return the box back in order to get my money back. I feel like they stole money from me. If you want to represent a moral company for your pup, I would suggest going with someone else. I'll be sticking with my local pet store where I'm treated with proper customer service from people who genuinely care.

I was so excited when I ordered my first Barkbox. Rep said it took 2-3 days processing then would ship right out (money had no problem leaving my account instantly lol). Here we are, a week later and the box has not even shipped yet.. contacted customer support chat... smh that was an ordeal. It took the rep 10+ minutes to even respond to anything I asked/said. I am pretty sure by how little the replies made sense that it may have been automated???? ♀ Was told that if it did not show shipped by today, they would be following the order and make sure one shipped out today.
Welllllll, here we are at almost end of business time and they have no more answers for me than they did when I contacted them yesterday. For almost $40.00 a month for some dog toys and treats (mainly getting as it’s convenient and I work late hours..) there would be some kind of service to go along with it. Not a week after ordering... no clue or really any care at the frustration. If I don’t get any tracking information or updated info by tomorrow, I really have no choice but to dispute charges with my bank as I am not very confident I will even be receiving this package, especially any time soon. Was incredibly disappointing after reading the good reviews, but maybe I should have heeded the warnings on the bad ones. :/

I don't have any complaints for customer service. They respond to you in good timing with your questions. I am really disappointed on how long my order is taking. I made the order JUNE 14. Today is JULY 5. Still NOTHING. I don't understand how something coming from the states take as along a something coming from China.

I purchased a box through the T-Mobile Tuesdays app promotion. This was my first experience with BarkBox, and I was looking forward to trying out the service. I received the shipping confirmation and waited. A few days later the tracking provided showed no movement, so I reached out via their “happy” email address requesting an update or valid tracking information. No response. The estimated FedEx delivery date came and went, so I reached out again. NO RESPONSE. None. So I ultimately had to file a chargeback with AMEX. Still no response. Extremely poor experience, and I will never try to purchase from them again.

I had a 6 month subscription for Barkbox (Superchewer). The treats that come in the box are awesome. High quality, dogs love them, plus a special chew which was ALWAYS a hit with my pups. The toys, however, were another story. My two dogs (55lb Lab, 70lb Presa Canario mix) would either destroy them quickly or simply not care for them at all. The hard nylon toys were fun for about 5 minutes before the dogs lost interest and they retired to the toy box to collect dust. Which isn't entirely the company's fault -- it's hard to make a toy that is fun to chew and also indestructible.
The delivery is pretty bad as well, our box was always 1-2 weeks late and one or two occasions didn't show up altogether. Tracking them is always a pain, the site doesn't give you much information and the tracking service is hard to navigate and only works once in a blue moon. However, their customer service is great. When I brought it to their attention, they were quick to respond and send out another box. They include pictures of their own dogs which is a cute touch.
So for what it is, they're a great service. However, the main point of the box is to get fun toys for your dog, which unfortunately for us it just did not deliver. We are giving Bullymake a try now and I gotta say, between the two I still prefer BarkBox. Bullymake has more customization & better toys, more consistent delivery, but Barkbox has better treats and you get a chew! Plus customer service is a big boost for ratings.

First of all, their sign up process is a pain for people with dogs with allergies. I first tried to sign up in April after seeing pictures of the April box on Instagram, but the sign up page said I should contact their CS if my dog has food allergies other than beef, chicken and turkey, so I did. They gave me a long list of options. When I replied with the list of things to exclude based on my dog’s IgE test result, I was told they were unable to log my selection until my account is active and instead I have to pay first then contact them to start the process all over again as they have no mechanism to log my request until then. They could have simply either give you those selection on the sign up page or state that you need to pay first before contacting them about food allergies.
It took 16 days for the first box to arrive after I paid and the wrong box was sent. I was expecting the April box but instead I got a random box from 2018. Since I have already ordered a toy from that old theme from BarkShop, not only have I failed to receive the Shakespeare theme treating dispenser toys they advertised for, I also ended up with two corn cob unexpectedly (I purchased a corn cob from BarkShop at retail price separately before the first box arrived) and none of the treats they sent were safe for my dogs. Granted that they did mention they can only include customized options in the second box but it would have been more ideal if they could just wait until the customized options are included before sending the box out so dogs receive stuff they can actually enjoy.
I have also ordered $122 worth of dog toys from BarkShop for a doggie party separately, but the shipment arrived 1) one toy short, 2) with wrong items, 3) much later than expected so I was unable to use them for the party. When I first emailed to report the problem, they said it was a warehouse mix up and offered to send the right toys as replacement but a week later (yesterday) they told they don’t actual have what I ordered, they made a mistake of putting it up on the shop.
Box from the second month arrived yesterday, this time the right treats were included but unfortunately my dog who isn't even a fussy eater refuse to eat any of treats/chews from the box… (I usually buy grain-free meaty single ingredient treats from brands like Barkworthies, Tylee’s, Farmland Traditions etc. and never had a problem of him not eating). Oh and I gave the treats from the first box that were unsafe for my dog to my neighbor and his dog wasn't interested in them either.
The toys from June box is also a big disappointment, the dumbbell is too big for him to hold and the maze/grid is too shallow to be used a slow feeder. I very much wish that they can provide options for people to select the type of toys they get. For my dog, treat dispensing toys tend to work best. Mixed materials toys are okay too but some of the hard rubber chew toys are simply too big/too hard and boring for my dog. While I am still a fan of some of their more refined treat toys, the monthly box isn’t working out for us and the constant communication they forced me into doing is driving me crazy. I have contacted them at least 9 times in a month, either because they have sent me the wrong tracking links or the wrong items which is absolutely ridiculous.
I am lucky that I signed up for monthly renewal, so I do have the option to cancel and walk out immediately unlikely so many of the other less fortunate reviewers on the page. I have had such high hope for them and I thought I did my research before I sign up, it isn't just me who found their latest box themes and services a big disappointment. What a shame.

We lost our Golden Retriever in February and I wanted to do something fun for our remaining dog. I should have taken into account that she doesn't really play with toys as we got her as a stray when she was about one. The BarkBox toys are incredibly high end. I was very impressed, and I guess the snacks are good as well, but, you know, dogs! However, when I decided to cancel since it was just too expensive for just the treats the company was not easy to deal with. Customer service did offer to adjust the boxes to just treats, but it's just not cost effective to receive the treats only. So, another month went by. I finally sent a very clear email to cancel only to receive the runaround again. So, excellent quality but be sure you want to order and keep on receiving the BarkBox as it is very difficult to cancel.

I ordered a BarkBox because I’ve always wanted to try it for my pup. I was given the opportunity to save some money through a T-Mobile Tuesday offer so I gave it a go. Today I received a text notification that the box was delivered to my front door. I called my wife who was home at the time. It said it was received and asked her to bring it in. She walked outside within less than a minute and there was no BarkBox.
I reached out to customer service through their chat feature and mid conversation the representative disconnected me and I was placed back into the queue. During the conversation the rep kept repeating that it’s best if I call FedEx and sort this out on my own. I called FedEx and they’re going to get back to me, maybe. After reading all these reviews I’m starting to think that I’m not going to be seeing a BarkBox or a refund anytime soon. I’m glad I didn’t decide on the membership and just did a one time deal. I just might have saved myself some future aggravation.

I dont think they deserve one star. I wish I read the reviews before I use them. I am a new customer and order a box it's been 2 weeks and has not ship but they sure took the money right away. I called and got nowhere with customer service. They just beat around the bush with you and I ask for a refund and they came up with every a excuse possible. They are no help. They are out for your money and that's it. Very unsatisfied. I would never use these guys.Stay away. Bad servers and people. They are not out to help you. ALL THEY DO IS GIVE YOU THE RUNAROUND AND DONT MAN UP TO THEIR STUFF. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID.

I have two dogs one named Dotie and the other named Ginger. Neither of them would eat the Egyptian themed treats or the chew. The only toy the dogs would play with was the camel. The Egyptian jar toy is way too big for a small breed dog. The worst part is I tried to contact them through their website and they never respond. If you are going to guarantee your product you should stand behind it and answer your live chat. You should make sure the treats and toys are appropriate for the size of the animal. I will be calling my credit card company to do a chargeback and will never do business with them again.

I didn’t want to write a review but now I feel like I have to. My June Barkbox was solely a cup holder, A CUPHOLDER. What in the world is my dog supposed to do with that?? They apologized, after a few days, and have said, "A new shipment is on its way" but we’ll see. I strongly recommend shutting off auto renew if you’re a current customer, the overall experience with Barkbox just became progressively worse once they assumed I’d be a customer forever, my experience was great during my initial 6 month term. Worst part is they force you to prepay!
It’s almost impossible to get an answer from them on issues, and you’ve already prepaid for the service which makes it even worse. Please please stay away from this company, it seems like a great idea at first but it’s gotten progressively worse and it was a giant mistake for me. Maybe writing this review will actually get someone at the company to get their matters together? It’s sad it has to resort to this but they don’t have a strong customer service department.

I signed up for a BarkBox subscription before one of my dogs passed away. I then received the first box after she had died. I had actually forgotten about it until the box came and had her name on it. So sad. I got online to change the account name and couldn’t figure out how to do that, so I reached out via email to customer service. I received a very sweet condolences email adding that she would take Lucy’s name off the account. She also offered to decrease the toy count from 3 to 2, which would also decrease the cost. Perfect.
We then exchanged several emails with her asking about my dogs and sending me pictures of her dogs and letting me know about their companion loss department. I sent her a few pictures as well. I mean who doesn’t like to talk about and show pictures of their dogs? A week later, I received a handwritten sympathy card from her...very sweet. Then 2 weeks later, I received a small book-sized package in the mail from BarkBox... too small to be THE BarkBox. Inside was a picture frame with an artistic sketch (it looks hand drawn to me) of one of the pictures I had sent. I burst into tears at not only the picture of my dogs, but the amazingly kind gesture. I have now received 3 boxes and my two other dogs love them. The toys and treats are great and I love the themes each month. I don’t think I’ve ever been treated with such kindness and compassion from a company and will continue to give them my business.

I should have done more research before spending money with this company. I loved the idea of my dog getting monthly surprises - and it would be great if he did - but still no update on my package being shipped, no tracking. Contacted customer service and was told since the 15th was a weekend that that is why. A week later still no update. Now reading reviews on how this isn't an isolated incident and very worried to continue with them. Will be canceling with the website and canceling the payment with PayPal. (Since it also seems there's a problem with continued charges even after canceling?) Would highly recommend if you still would like to try, make the payment through a source you can block payments if there's problems. However, knowing what I know now I wouldn't have put my trust in this company.

Updated on 06/19/2019: This is the third time I’ve tried to write a review. This company is only after your money. They are all but impossible to contact. I tried calling numerous times with no results, I finally did it through Facebook messenger. Every time I wrote I wanted to cancel I was disconnected. Finally this morning I got a girl named Charlotte, she seemed to have helped me, but we will see. I ordered the first box, it was $22 then the second box was $74. I had tried and tried to contact them to cancel before the seconds box, but no such luck. So I sent it back unopened. They said they don’t take them back. BAD BUSINESS!! Then this Charlotte person said she would make a box that might suit my dog. I told her I still want to cancel this box, she assured me that she had. We will see!! If I were you I would check all their reviews, every one almost is bad!!

The treat are full of chemicals that are unhealthy for dogs! When I tried to cancel you can’t get anyone on the phone. You have to text with them and I hate that! There should be actual people you can talk to. They don’t take returns, which should tell you that their ethics are somewhat lacking!! DO NOT ORDER THESE BOXES. THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT. My boy Blue loves his BarkBox! He is a 16 week old husky and I subscribed the first day we got him. He absolutely loves the treats. I just can’t find treats that he loves more in stores. Honestly my cat loves them too and tries to break into the box and get them! The toys are great especially now that Blue is teething! He will chew on everything and these have helped tremendously! He hasn’t torn up one yet so the durability of the super chew toys are great! I’m so glad we got this subscription.

I’ve been having trouble with her breaking all of the toys however I just spoke with a representative of BarkBox and they remedied the situation for me. I subscribed to the 6 month plan using the $5 promo code for the first month. My dog wasn’t a fan of what was in the first subscription box so I asked the company if I could cancel my account and get a refund for the second box I was charged for. I talked to so many people but a few responses I got were I would need to commit fully until the end and pay, I would need to commit for another 2 months and my box could be donated, or I could pay $24 for the first box which was a promo they were promoting. Honestly communicating with this company is frustrating and the fact they give different answers and try to make you continue even if you don’t like it is something that I wouldn’t want from a company that I buy from.

So after having the BarkBox subscription for a year, I did not receive box for the month of April. After the month passes I email to ask about the status of lost months box since I was charge again for next month's box and not received anything. Well after weeks of emails back and forth with customer service I have only received one box in 3 months, but have been charged 3 times. Well after explaining the problem to 5 different customer support representatives, they just blow me off and did nothing to make the situation better.
