I signed my pet up to receive a BarkBox every month for a year. I thought, what a great deal to get 2 toys and multiple bags of treats every month with a guarantee to replace any toys that my dog could chew through. I was excited because my dog has chewed through and destroyed wood, plastic and metal. He is definitely a super chewer! I thought this was an answer for us! We received our first box. Everybody (kids, dog, and me!) was excited! Not more than 15 minutes later, our dog brought us a shredded toy…. SHREDDED!!
I contacted the Bark support team on multiple occasions. I was promised a replacement. We are on our 7th month, and I’ve yet to receive a replacement toy. I would love to continue my subscription with this type of service, but have opted to cancel BarkBox after I fulfill my 12 month subscription because your company has not fulfilled its guarantee.

Very difficult to cancel. My pup did not like the toys & some of the treats so it was a waste of money. After I complained they did send different stuff but my puppy simply doesn’t like their toys!! After contacting the company again to cancel they reminded me of their promotion & indicated I’m obligated to continue due to that. They will offer various options such as every other month but won’t cancel. You really have no choice since they have your credit card info. I wish I’d never heard of them!!

We have given BarkBox more opportunities that they deserve, but we are done. The last bark “box” came in an Amazon plastic bag and was crap. When we asked about this change they tried to claim that the change from a box to an Amazon bag was due to President Trump’s tariffs. Total BS!!! And, since they have decided to play politics in an attempt to cover up their greed, we are done with them!!!

We want the themed BOXES back. Or we are quitting. We joined BarkBox and my dogs look forward to opening the box every time. Now they go for my own deliveries thinking they are their bark box. Meanwhile it's in a plastic bag. My dogs' free range on our 4 acres so if they choke on plastic wtf. It's a choking hazard.

Please be careful when you sign up for BarkBox. As there is no opting out early. I inadvertently signed up under the wrong ad, and was hoping to get free Crocs for my dog, which I thought were adorable and would keep her from burning her little pads in the hot concrete areas. Because I signed up under an ad for extra toys, that is what I was stuck with. I wrote to customer service as soon as I realized and within a day or two of the order being placed. I explained that my dog doesn't need extra toys because she doesn't play that much with the toys that she has and asked if we could be switched to the Crocs and keep the same cost plan. The customer service responses were very friendly and they offered to change my plan in which I would receive less toys for $19.99 a month instead of instead of the twenty something dollar a month, that I would be paying.
Well first of all, that would not be advantageous as it wouldn't save me that much money and the extra toy would be worth more than that costwise. I don't understand why they could not switch... It's one set of Crocs vs an extra toy monthly for my dog in the name of good customer service. Especially with a big company like BarkBox. It seems they are more interested in policy and procedure than a customer's satisfaction. I have never seen a company where you could not opt out of a contract for a monthly payment either.
I told them I would just keep my contract rather than them switching me to a lesser one and I will donate the extra toys to my local shelter as well as any treats my dog may not like. I have already canceled the auto renew and will not be ordering anything extra. Like I said, they were very friendly and not rude. But it's obvious that customer satisfaction is not the primary objective with this company. If I could cancel my subscription, I would.

At first I did love the box, however due to financial reasons I can no longer afford the subscription. They will not let you cancel it. I have tried on the website, and also have tried to email and use the online chat. None were helpful in any way.. They continue to charge my card and won't stop until September. Absolutely ridiculous to trap your customers into something like that. I do not recommend anyone use this company. You are better off going to the local grocery store and getting the same items for way cheaper.

I contacted Bark Box's team, and explained to them that I have a service dog in training and would they be willing to donate some toys to us. Normally they donate to organizations, but they made a exception for us and sent us some toys. We reached back out and asked if they would send us some crocs because we can't work during the day due to the ground being too hot. Their customer service was above and beyond. They always responded within an hour no matter what time of the day it was. They complimented my dogs, sent photos of their own dogs, and went above and beyond. Their team is absolutely amazing. We ended up receiving 7 toys, 4 bags of dog treats, and 2 dog treats. My dogs are thrilled and their toys are super tough and long lasting.

Terrible experience! Signed up for six months with a offer of a free bed. The bed was chintzy but OK. The boxes were repetitive in content and they would not cancel but did allow me to take a smaller box. But then they auto-renewed my subscription for another 6 months without my permission, saying that was because of the smaller box. That was not what I was told and I had it in writing in email. The story goes on and on with contradictory emails, incorrect info on their website and I'm now at the point of blocking them as a vendor on my credit card. Awful company.

I was so excited to get the BarkBox Crocs for my dog. I went off of BarkBox size guide. Mind you when you sign up you have to agree to six months or you can’t get the Crocs. Needless to say the Crocs do not fit. They will not give me a pair of that fit because they said they are out of Crocs. I am very disappointed in the type of treats they send. Some of them are strange and my dog won’t touch them. The toys are so so. Some of them don’t stay together very well. I will definitely be canceling when my six months is up.

Waste of money and poor quality in toys and snacks. They get you with a wonderful ‘first box…Harry Potter”. I tell them I have a Bull Mastiff that is 115 pounds. The future boxes are disappointing with toys that a small dog would enjoy not a huge dog!!! My dog loved opening the box but now a nasty plastic bag comes with the pathetic toys and tiny bags of dog treats… one the it vegan and my dog hates and tried telling me "Bark" but they don’t care.

I was so excited to get the boxes when I first signed up. Then I started getting the same types of toys over and over - cheap hard plastic or rubber toys (mostly balls) that our dog either shredded within minutes or are painfully heavy and covered in little spikes when you inevitably step on them in the middle of the night. I also didn't realize that I was locked into an entire 12-month subscription, because they don't make it obvious during the sign-up process - so just understand that you won't be able to cancel if you're unhappy with the contents (and you probably will be, especially for the price).
Their toys are all covered with a *very* thin cover that I have to remove because my dog simply eats it, and I do not want to have to bring him to the vet with a bowel blockage. This is strange because with other cloth toys I have bought from PetCo, etc., he rips them to shreds but always spits out the cloth or "fur" covering as he goes. These, he simply eats. It's very strange, and dangerous due to the overall amount of material he's ingesting. It took me an entire toys' worth of cloth to figure this out, so now I simply remove them after a couple of gnaws... and once there's no more cloth to strip off and eat, he quickly loses interest. So, $20 for less than a minute of chewing, plus one "large" treat and a 4-oz bag of treats. Not worth the price especially with an additional $7 charge for shipping. And the shipping itself is inconsistent and often delayed.
At least he could open the box when it arrived, which was a whole thing for him. Sadly, even that has stopped with the last shipment, when it arrived IN A BAG. Will you be changing your name to BARK BAG? I mean, you all seem to have a sense of humor as you are emailing me back to explain why you can't cancel my subscription even with your alleged "satisfaction-guaranteed-or-else" policy.
I have never been more disappointed in a company's service and their products in my life, and judging from MANY other comments I have read online, I am FAR from alone. I still have a few months to go, and from what I've seen they may well still screw me and keep the subscription going until I threaten them at the BBB. Save your money, your sanity, and possibly even your dog's life. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE to this service. I wish I'd read some online reviews before I got sucked in.

WTH @BarkBox must be going broke sending out this cheap bags. Absolutely terrible and horrible quality! 0 freaking ⭐️. Pick a different subscription. I have a 80 lb boxer and “upgraded” to the Super Chewer box but the large toys we get are the size of my palm. The treats are always the same dollar store quality. SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY! This company is a rip off.

My dog finds the toys entertaining for about a day. I had a box never delivered and their customer service first asked me to wait and then wanted me to check with my neighbors. Pretty useless. I am not renewing my subscription. It's really not worth it if every third box gets lost. I shop a lot online and never have delivery problems otherwise.

I agreed to this subscription. Asked on the packaging - It came in a BOX (hence the name, BARK BOX). This month came in a BAG, blamed it on tariffs. Treats were crushed, toys were overstock. No theme. No games, no PROTECTION of $25 worth of goods. Tried to cancel - But you CAN'T. You are forced to live out the rest of your subscription with this lack of care for what you are paying for. That's 9 months of crap for $225. Completely unacceptable. This is a breach of contract. I did not agree to a BAG, I agreed to a BOX. Expect chargebacks, Bark Lame BAG.

After one month, they replaced the box with a plastic bag, which seems like deceptive practices to me. They would not allow me to cancel despite the fact they changed what they are providing, to much less quality. It is called Bark BOX for a reason....not Bark plastic crappy bag.

I purchased the year subscription to Bark Box with the intention of locking in the price. I'm unable to cancel until the subscription ends. In the middle of my subscription they decided to change it from a box to a bag. This is not what I signed up for. The card that came in the bag has a note from the CEO saying they changed from a box to bag so they don't have to increase prices due to tariffs. That's great, good for them, but that's not what I signed up for. I signed up for the year subscription so my price wouldn't change if there were cost increases. This is not what I signed up for. My dog usually gets so excited when the boxes come. He loves trying to open them and get to what's inside. He had no interest in the bag whatsoever. The excitement, which is the whole reason I signed up for this in the first place, is gone. I will say I'm low key glad he didn't go crazy over the bag because its absolutely a choking hazard.
Bark Box has decided they don't care about the satisfaction of their yearly customers as long as they can make a larger profit by cutting costs. They are not providing the service I signed up for. If you do decide to sign up for this, make sure to not do the yearly subscription. They won't allow you to cancel it, but they will make changes mid-way through on what you're getting, even though it's not what you signed up for.

I was thinking about getting BARKBox. As I looked at the website they also had a promo for dog crocs. I decided I'd get 1 box and if my dog liked it we would stay subscribed. I received the order which was nicely packaged however my dog wouldn't eat the snacks, and didn't like 1 of the 2 toys. When signing up, there is a slider labeled "monthly". As my dog didn't like the first box I had low hopes for the rest. I contacted customer service and they responded with the following... "Thank you for emailing back, Brittany! I totally understand, and we kindly ask our customers to fulfill the commitment they signed up for, especially since you received the Crocs promo by selecting a multi-month plan." I did verify the slider labeled monthly did indicate 6 months in lighter letters underneath. I'm not happy that they are using the promo dog crocs to keep me paying when they could have just indicted that I signed up for 6 months instead.

We’ve had a single subscription to the Super Chewer box for years. I’ve got three 100lb doodles who all love to chew and are known to swallow things they shouldn’t, so we have to be careful. That said, I think this company is doing everything right. One box a month gives us enough treats and toys for all three dogs. It’s a great deal compared to what I’d spend at a pet store for the same. My dogs have never had a bad reaction to any of the treats and they always love them. It’s become a ritual in our house for the dogs to open the BarkBox when it arrives themselves. It’s basically puppy Christmas once a month.
The fabric-covered toys usually last a few weeks, and when we start to see a tear forming, we just cut off the fabric and let the dogs play with the rubber toy inside. That way there’s no risk of swallowing anything they shouldn’t. The toys last for years of heavy use. On the rare occasion we’ve gotten a toy that didn’t work for us or wasn't up to the quality we expect, customer service was quick to ask what kind we preferred and sent a double replacement. When I updated our address and the next box didn’t make it to our new place, they not only refunded us but also sent two new boxes to make up for it. This is a solid company in a world full of junk. They care about their products and their customers.

Disappointed with the Quality of toys. One of my pups is in the emergency vet hospital due to the fact of the fabric on the toy tore off and ended up being eaten by my pup and adhered to her esophagus and ended up with pneumonia. They are just hoping that the infection hasn’t made it into her bloodstream to make her septic. We are waiting more results from her bloodwork and she has been on oxygen for over a day. She is critical! Just hope she makes it through.

Was intrigued by the ability to have 2 new toys and treats each month and signed up for the Super Chewer option. The first three shipments included toys that were either totally fabric or covered in fabric. As the goal is for our dog to not ingest cloth that she chews up, toys were not usable. Complained to BarkBox and after that, they sent the smallest and uninteresting toys, that were definitely not worth $35 a month! As others have stated, I wish I would have read reviews before starting up with this package.

I started with BarkBox in Jan or Feb of 2025. I had horrible trouble with the app and site. I couldn’t access my account in general for weeks. I’ve gotten my boxes every month and I love the idea but we have Super Chewer box and she does destroy most toys. Which I understand they will and not my complaint. Just added knowledge for those who believe that they say indestructible. But most frustrating part is dealing with customer service. I asked multiple times questions and they gave me around about answers. Seems shady to me.
I should be able to sign into my account and see and change all information about me and my dog. And I was told I can’t access that. I don’t feel comfortable giving my money to a business that hides my information and makes it more of a pain to have to go try to talk to customer service and then they give roundabout answers and when I said I was canceling then they said, "Well, you can’t access online now." Ok well, they just lost my business and I will definitely encourage everyone not to subscribe.

After only two deliveries, I cancelled. The second delivery was supposed to contain extra items that I had purchased in addition to the monthly box. Despite repeated assurances, most of the extra items were missing. After a constant runaround from the reps at Bark, I was forced to deny all of the charges on my credit card. After that, BarkBox refunded a small amount of money, but I am still out almost $200 for items I never received. I decided to curate my own boxes from Chewy and Petco instead.

I had been a loyal bark box customer for over 4 years (2 subscriptions), over the past year the quality of customer service dropped significantly. They would charge the box at the first of the month without fail but would not ship the box until mid month or later. Some months we would not get a box and they'd already be charging the next one. Customer service on the phone was no help and if you cancelled the membership you still had to continue until the term ended. It just wouldn't renew. That was their version of cancellation.
The treat variety was also lacking as they would send the same thing over and over like the cheese treats and baked stuff that my dogs didn't care for. Called and asked if they could not send me baked treats as my pups did not like the ones they were sending. They told me that it was not possible and they could only cater to allergies. I had to wait 6 months to be completely out of the shackles because they do not believe in account cancellation.

The worst subscription ever. 4 weeks of pretty much the same type of toy. I have little dogs they send rock hard toys every month. The dogs will not eat their treats and you can't cancel. That's the only reason they in business because you are stuck.

Once upon a time we had positive experiences with the company. Then the homophobic email circulated around and they took out a payment for a box we had already cancelled. Customer service said there was nothing they could do, the only thing that worked was escalation. Eventually got a refund, but they’re really weird about taking out random payments and not sending boxes, sending doubles, and giving us allergens that our dog couldn’t digest even when we asked for the allergy free. I just can’t imagine spending any more money on a company that thinks my life is a “political statement.”

I have cancer. And I had to try to cancel my prescription to BarkBox because I can't afford it with chemo and my cancer and my surgeries and my radiation. They refused to cancel the prescription and then said they would freeze it and they did not, so even if it's emergency like I did, where you didn't expect to get cancer, be prepared. Bark Box will not let you cancel your subscription.

We loved the subscription until we added the Crocs to our monthly box. When it was time for the box to ship the representative told me I never ordered them. Lol. They were showing up as an addition for 4 weeks and I had a confirmation of the addition MINUTES after the promotion started. I understand if they didn't expect the demand but don't GASLIGHT your customers who are otherwise loyal supporters of your products. Basically calling your customers dumb is NOT how to keep them. I will NOT be renewing the subscription and if they turn my auto-renew back on without my consent I will be seeking counsel.

Let me start by saying, our dogs love the Barkbox and the LG toys and treats. My issues are with the distrust and the way they handle billing and customer service... Our first box was for XS dogs. I complained and explained my dogs were LG and the toys were a choke hazard for them, they suggested the chewy box, sent an extra toy for the inconvenience. Never received a new box for LG dogs, 1st $40 for one toy and treats, 2nd, 3rd, 4th boxes charged the same and on the same dates then without notice they changed my payment date, 2 months in a row I was charged 2 weeks earlier than expected.... 2 months in a row I was charged the $40 and not to mention the extra $30 for an overdraft fee.... So now I'm paying $70 for a bark box....
I cancelled the subscription... Well that's where it gets really fishy... It wasn't a cancellation, just shut off a auto renewal, so when the new date came guess what? No funds and bank overdraft, so I emailed and texted for a phone call, I received a call from an actual person! She explained that they usually do not cancel subscriptions because it's a commitment to them, I explained I have already paid over on my end because they changed my date and screwed my bank account up, she tried to get me to take a break for every other month or every other 2 months. I told her no. I would rather like my money back and no box, she said she was sorry and couldn't stop payment and box would be sent out, but she could one time courtesy cancel my subscription...
I told her I wanted my money back in my overdraft fee this time because now I had paid $90 in total for overdraft in 3 months, she told me she was sorry but could not help with that, so my experience their replacement of toys is horrible, their customer service is horrible, auto answering is horrible, subscription canceling is horrible, just a scam and untrustworthy.... I do not recommend. If they had a zero rate I would probably rate them on that....

I have had nothing but issues with my BarkBox subscription. I turned off auto renew, but they renewed my subscription anyway. I received the same toys two months in a row. I had a rep offer me a free box due to all the issues, and after I accepted, they charged me for the box anyway. They delayed sending my November box (Thanksgiving) until halfway through December. I had a Junk Food Club toy subscription, but some months they would tell me the toy was "sold out" even though I was on a monthly subscription for it. And to top it all off, my dogs hate their treats and most of their toys that come in the boxes.

A Rocky Start, but BarkBox Made It Right. As someone with over 25 years in animal welfare—ranging from veterinary technician and animal control officer to grooming, nutrition, and shelter medicine—everything in my life revolves around pets. I also run nonprofits that help our community’s animals, sell pet supplies, and even have a pet supply closet filled with high-quality items. Needless to say, I wasn’t exactly in need of a subscription box. But then I saw the doggy Crocs. I knew my pup would probably kick them off in two seconds, but I was curious—some dogs do manage to keep them on, and they can help protect paws from hot pavement in the summer. So I subscribed to BarkBox for three months, choosing the heavy chewer option… mostly just to get those Crocs.
Unfortunately, the pair I received was the wrong size. That might’ve been my error, but either way, I reached out to customer service hoping to exchange them. That’s when things went downhill. Not only was I initially told no, but when I opened the box, I also found a toy that raised major red flags—the hard plastic Koi fish.
As a vet tech, I’ve seen far too many cracked or broken teeth from rock-hard toys like that. If you can’t press your thumbnail into it, it’s too hard for your dog’s mouth. I explained my concerns—both about the toy and the Crocs—and asked to return or exchange the items. I even offered to donate the wrong-size Crocs to our supply closet and toss the toy (I would never pass something unsafe on to another pet). But after a quick, vague response, I didn’t hear back for weeks.
Then today, unexpectedly, a box arrived at my door: the correct size Crocs and two toys to replace the Koi fish. I was genuinely surprised—and grateful. I even asked if they wanted the originals back, and they said to donate them. That gesture meant a lot. It showed they were listening, especially about the safety concern. Whether they ultimately remove the toy or not, I appreciate that they acknowledged it.
Now, did it need to be this difficult to reach a resolution? No. The process should have been easier and more responsive from the start. But they did make it right—and that matters. The rest of the box was great: high-quality treats (no poultry, just as I requested) and sturdy toys. My dog? She promptly kicked off the Crocs. All that fuss for nothing! But they’ll go to someone who needs them. So, I’m giving BarkBox four stars. There’s room for improvement in customer service, but in the end, they exceeded my expectations—and most importantly, took pet safety concerns seriously.

I've been a subscriber for about a year. If ever there's an issue - my dog has an allergy to poultry, they made a change. I realized he was allergic to wheat, they made a change. I realized he really needed a Super Chewer box instead of the regular box because he was ripping the toys apart within the first 15 minutes, they refunded me for my last box and changed it to a Super Chewer box. Recently, he got a blockage, and subsequent surgery. Although we tried to watch him with his stuffy toys (not Bark Box) he appeared to swallow pieces of the fluff. After his surgery we realized he got the felt "leaves" from his Super Chewer toy, in addition to the fluff.
When I responded to a survey that I love Bark Box, I just wish he didn't get any fabric coverings or accents on the super chewer toys, I received a personalized email from leadership and a credit on my last box. Frida was very kind and empathetic, and assured me that they'd make sure we didn't get anything fabric in his boxes going forward. That kind of service isn't the usual anymore, it seems. For that, I will keep my subscription, and recommend to all of my pet parent friends.

You can't cancel your subscription after 6 months. You are stuck with it for another 6 months. They don't notify you that your subscription is up. They sign you up for another 6 months. This is a scam. It's too bad because the boxes were cute and it's a nice idea. It's too bad they take advantage of people. Shame on you.

I ordered BarkBox to get a promotional Crocs dog shoes. I did not get them, when I let the company know they said I got two extra toys. I didn't want two extra toys. I wanted Crocs. I said, "Just don't send toys next month and give me the Crocs," they said, "We don't have any." Then why are you promoting them. "Well if you sign up again we will give them to you." So you won't give me the promotion I wanted the first time and you tell me you don't have any but sign up again and magically they will appear as my money disappears. Hmm. Does anyone fall for that. How stupid do you think people are. Barkbox is a scam. Don't fall for it.

Where to even begin? With the cheap, poorly made dog toys that last two minutes before being deconstructed into fluff and hard plastic? Or the increasingly scant treats that are the same price for fewer bites? If the products are not your concern, then the company surely should be. Once you purchase a recurring package, the ever-so-often read terms and conditions stipulate in ant-sized print that you cannot cancel your monthly subscription until all twelve months of boxes have been delivered. If they took payment for all twelve upfront, this would be sensible. But no! You are charged monthly for monthly boxes that can be cancelled only on an annual basis. And be careful still, because should you choose to opt-out of auto-renewal for your subscription, they will opt you back in on your own behalf, without notice, again and again and again. If you DO want to cancel, expect their customer service to be lackluster in all expediency, politeness, or aid. Only by providing proof of your pet being deceased or blocking their charges through your bank can you effectively end the poor subscription package on your own time of choosing.

I signed up for a 6 month subscription box for a "super chewer." DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE! The first box came with 2 toys which my dog promptly destroyed. Customer service switched me to a super chewer "lite" box for $25 each. The box arrived today with one toy and 2 food treats. The toy was destroyed within 7 minutes. So I am committed for another 4 months of garbage with no way to cancel. It would be more satisfying to flush my money down the toilet. Lesson learned. Never again.

What they don't state upfront is after your first box you only get 2 toys, a cookie and a small bag of treats. For this you pay $35 + tax. I could buy much more on my own for that price. Received my first box today. Toys are total garbage. You can get better toys at Walmart. I had signed up for a 6 month subscription. And even though I just received the box they were reluctant to cancel the subscription. And said I will have to pay for the next box. As far as specifics, my dog destroyed one toy from the Super Chewer Box within ten minutes. And one toy was a ball. Just a ball. The other two toys were just hard rubber things my dog won’t even look at it. Then they give you bags of treats. You think you are getting something but each bag is only 4 ounces. There is more bag than treats. I think this is a total waste. But if you really want to try it, be sure to sign up for just the one month. If you sign up for the multiple month subscription, they will not cancel the subscription without a fight. Just go to Walmart. Your dog will thank you.

I subscribed for my new rescue dog. Turns out she doesn't care about toys at all, so I tried to cancel the subscription online, and I got an email saying it was canceled. The next month I was charged again and sent a new box. So, I contacted Bark Box directly to cancel and was basically told no, I had to "fulfill [my] commitment." I had decided to go ahead with a subscription. I subscribed to double the toys plus 1 more for 40.00 a month. My first box came with 4 bouncy balls and 4 bags of treats, mind you I have a small dog so maybe they didn’t have anything but bouncy balls at the time. I thought let me give it another chance. Well my second delivery just arrived and I got 3 toys, not 5. And 2 bags of treats. They’re just not providing what they are charging for and not worth the dollar store toys they are sending.

This feels like a bait-and-switch operation. When you sign up, BarkBox tells you it will auto-renew—but don’t expect a reminder when your subscription is about to renew a year later. Mine renewed for another full year without warning, and when I contacted customer service, they offered no help. The product itself isn’t worth the cost. My dog destroyed the toys within minutes. He rarely touched the treats they sent. If you do sign up, immediately turn off auto-renew. You can always turn it back on later if you’re happy with it—but I won’t be ordering again. This business model is shady and damages customer trust.

Also…trying to cancel is a nightmare… It’s been 10 days and the only response to my emails directly requesting to cancel have been counter offers…. The box has been nice and treats seem good quality. My dog has started shredding the plush toys. They make it seem easy to change subscriptions but the option is not in my account to move to heavy chewer and customer service is a nightmare. No one responds to email, online chat, or the text number on their website. It’s become a safety issue and waste of money to prevent her swallowing the materials and getting sick. I should be easily able to pay the difference and upgrade but it’s proving to be very difficult.

The box itself is nice, however getting a hold of anyone or any customer service is awful. There are no phone numbers or customer service listed on the website, you can only email or Text them and if you do the emails and text just go back and forth with no resolution, like they don't even read your email. I wanted to try this company again but only for 6 months, they force auto renew but never send an email reminding you that your subscription will be renewed and them bill you. It seems they make it hard to cancel once they have your credit card, I am forced to call my Credit card company and dispute the charges. Extremely hard to get them to refund a charge that wasn't supposed to happen. I canceled my subscription a month ago and they decided to charge me last week for a six month renewal. I've been emailing back-and-forth for a week now and they only partially refunded me. Thank God I got that! Beware! Do not use the service! I'm upset with myself that I did not read the reviews before I went with them. I see many other people have this issue as well! I will be reporting to my bank and I think they need to have some lawsuits against them.

We have been loyal customers of BarkBox for MANY years. Haven’t had an issue, UNTIL this past cycle of subscriptions for my dog. I tried to purchase a “six month subscription” where my dog would also get the tennis ball club attached to the bark box; her favorite thing is the tennis balls. The PROBLEM is they are being sent separately and shipping is being charged for the tennis balls, because of that. I have been reaching out to the company since NOVEMBER, to try to get this rectified and I have gotten nowhere…Despite multiple emails back-and-forth between the company. At this point, I just want out and want nothing to do with them moving forward. VERY frustrated.

Toys are not durable. My 2-month Labrador puppy managed to destroy two of their toys in a couple of days. They are not safe. She managed to remove the stuffing and the squeaker from two of them. She loves all the treats but it's not worth it. They make it near impossible to cancel or request a refund.

I had absolutely no idea that bark boxes has no customer service phone number, and trust me, I’ve spent 3 days trying every number I could find. I regret not looking at more reviews before I purchased. You CAN NOT customize your box like advertised. They ask you for the breed and size, then they send things that are incredibly too small, but you can’t return items for a replacement or refund. You CAN NOT get responses to emails. I have no problem with paying… for something that is great! But being ignored, lied to and providing underwhelming products that you can’t cancel? I’m sticking with Chewy they have wonderful customer service, will refund or fix anything that is not right or useful and they actually appreciate their customers.

Due to their erroneous billing system— I was charged twice in January. Once for my December order, which should have been “paused”, and once for the actual January installment. Since BB refused to respond to any of my requests about pausing my December order, they just kept attempting to charge my card all the way up until January at which point the December boxes were no longer available.
They sent me a January box instead and refunded me for the inconvenience. I should not have been charged again until February, but I was charged a second time in January, sent a duplicate box, offered a refund, then refused a refund. I cancelled my services. Extremely disappointed and have always supported BB; won’t be any longer but I’m fully aware that’s mine and my dogs problem.. Stay on top of your billing and monitor your boxes to make sure you’re not receiving duplicates.. Other than that, you should be fine. I personally, will look elsewhere for something similar.

I had contacted customer support 'cause I didn't realize that my order was under my other email account. I asked to cancel my subscription and not receive anymore boxes after reading some of these reviews and before I could answer the questions, the agent had closed the chat and I didn't get confirmation of my subscription being canceled. I was so excited to get my dog something for his first birthday and unfortunately I've had a rough experience. The order part is my fault 'cause I use my professional email for everything that I didn't think to check the other email but the agent closing the chat before I could answer the questions was a little rude.

I am absolutely stunned reading some of these reviews. I have had nothing but great experiences with BarkBox. The treats have been loved by my pups along with the toys. My 2 older pups never destroyed their toys but my newest one loves to destroy. So I changed my order a bit so I get toys within toys. If Willow does rip it there is another toy inside. I've given boxes as gifts and everyone has enjoyed them and never a complaint. The customer service has been amazing. If I've had a problem, question or concern I send an email and it's answered in a timely fashion. I have accidently received 2 orders more then once and when I have spoken with them I have always been told not to return the extra box to share it or give to a pound. I have never had a problem with the quality of anything in the box. Would recommend this to anyone with a pup.

We recently re-upped our subscription. The selection of toys and treats, while clever and tasty, isn’t comparable to our previous experience with BarkBox. The real issue is we are not able to cancel our yearly subscription until the period is over. So we are stuck with a subpar box. We would never have reordered had we known the box was no longer worth it.

Toys are not meant for a Pitbull. I reach out the end of December to cancel, was told January will be my last box but I was charged again for February. Customer service is horrible. Their company must be out their basement because you can only get ahold of someone by text, email or fb messenger. Then they take forever to reply. I have proof saying they will cancel and January would be my last box. They won't honor their word or reimburse me my money. I don't recommend due to their poor customer service.

I just received another box from Barkbox. I had emailed them to cancel my subscription to no avail. Finally I received an email that stated I cannot cancel my subscription until after 12 months. This is a very poor way for a business to operate. In my opinion, it is a rip-off. My dog ripped the toys apart in just a few minutes. The food is definitely overpriced. I could have gone to Walmart and gotten much better toys and food at a very much lower price. Totally disgusted.

Don’t sign up thinking you can request different type of toys because they will not let you switch from a Super Chewer box to the classic box without starting a whole new 12 month subscription. Then after telling you that, they will send you an email when you cancel your auto renew, saying they will “always“ accommodate for changing styles of toys. Hint: they will not. Plus it takes several days to get emails back from them. Not the super customer service they claim to have. I don’t recommend signing up with them at all. I’ll stick to just ordering toys from Chewy.com. They actually have superb customer service.

I am so disappointed in BarkBox. First most of the treats sent were full of wheat and other grains. I am unable to handle these due to the fact I have celiac disease. Second because my dog is small they sent all tiny toys for my dog. They have now switched me to all toys box and included some slightly larger toys. I attempted to cancel but found out I am obligated for 6 months. My dog and living room are swimming with toys. I will donate the next 3 boxes to the local shelter. What a complete waste and disappointment. I do not recommend.

They informed me that I was going to be resubscribed for a yearly subscription. I replied via email telling them I do not want the subscription. It was for 292 dollars. I didn't get a response, two days later I didn't hear anything so I replied again. Still nothing. I sent a separate note to their support team. Why they don't use a no-reply for their 'hey I'm about to bill you 292 dollars for something' email, I don't know. If they had I would have gone to support first. After this atrocious experience with them I think it's by design. So, I go to support and inform them that I don't want the service and want a full refund. I have a few interactions with support, they offer some discounts for the coming month. I say no thank you. I get nothing back. I chase again. I get nothing.
A few days later I get a notification that my ticket was closed. No communication, no resolution. Just closed the ticket. I find their hotline and call it. It's not actually a hotline. It just points me to their website. I go there and get on a chat with an agent. I tell them I want a full refund. By now, ten days after I had told them I don't want the subscription, they still sent me the box. So I tell them I want a full refund and instructions to return the box that I had informed them several times that I did not want. They say they can give me a partial refund. Obviously I found this to be unacceptable. They said since the box is shipped, they could only give me a partial refund. I inform them, that's not how returns work. I return the product that I explicitly said I didn't want, then I get a refund. They said they don't have return centers and a partial refund is what I was getting.
Truly one of the more shady organizations I've dealt with in quite awhile. Plus, the product isn't good. It's essentially thirty bucks a month, but they give you the same toy every month. It just looks different. Plushy with a squeaker in the middle. So, if your dog doesn't love that, which mine doesn't, then it's a waste of money. Don't do business with BarkBox.

It's clear that Bark has a strong marketing team, as their focus seems to be on promotion rather than on products or customer service. Their marketing strategies are brilliant, such as the Instagram promo with the dog Crocs, which initially drew me in. Their website and packaging are well-designed and show significant investment, but sadly, this attention doesn't extend to product quality or customer service. While their marketing is impressive, my goal was to make my dog happy. Instead, it just made him sick and cost me unnecessary time and money. The problems began with the very first box I received, which arrived just after Halloween and was filled with Halloween-themed items that were no longer relevant. Additionally, despite clearly specifying 'no plush toys' and 'no treats' when signing up, my box included plush toys and treats I didn't want.
Upon reaching out to customer service, I was told I was enrolled in the 'Classic BarkBox plan,' which costs about $28 per month with tax, and includes two soft plush toys, treats, and a surprise. This came as a ‘surprise’ and was confusing because I distinctly remembered selecting ‘toys only’ and ‘no treats’ during sign-up.
When I requested to cancel my subscription, they refused, citing the 6-month commitment required under the promotional plan. They insisted I had to fulfill the entire term. This promotional plan included 'dog Crocs' at no extra charge, but these proved useless because my dog found them uncomfortable. In fact, my dog only wore them once, for a brief walk around the house, and then refused to wear them again. I even offered to return the Crocs, still in their box and essentially unused, if it would allow me to cancel my subscription. They said this was not an option.
They offered two alternative solutions that were neither helpful nor effective: Bark Solution 1: Switch to an ‘All Toy’ box, which would replace the treats with an additional toy each month, but it would still include plush toys. Although I agreed initially, it never happened. I continued receiving two plush toys and treats. In my communications, I stressed that the treats were unsuitable for my dog's diet, yet they kept sending them. Despite my requests to stop sending treats regardless of my subscription, treats kept arriving, forcing me to throw them away or donate them to the food bank. I also never received the extra toy as a replacement.
Even worse, the plush toys were so poorly made that they often fell apart within a day, causing my dog to ingest the fluff, become sick, and throw up. Even if the ‘All Toy’ box had been sent, it wouldn’t have solved my issue since it included these poorly made plush toys. For reference, I've included an image showing a toy my dog played with that fell apart just hours after opening the box. Additionally, we're not talking about a puppy who chews through everything or even an aggressive dog. My dog is a 7-year-old Boston Terrier who is fairly mellow. Although he enjoys playing with toys and occasionally suckling them, these toys shouldn't come apart like this.
Interestingly, we've had many plush toys from different brands that have proven to be quite durable against any attempts to tear them apart. In contrast, the BarkBox plush toys are so cheaply made and poorly constructed that it's not surprising they come apart so easily. Given the cost of the subscription, these toys should be of better quality. It's worth investigating whether these toys contain harmful chemicals or materials, as their low quality raises concerns about them being mass-produced in a place where profit is prioritized over quality.
Bark Solution 2: Switch to a 'Super Chewer' box with durable nylon and rubber toys. Each box would include two Super Chewer toys but would increase my monthly cost to $35 plus tax. To avoid paying the higher cost, I proposed they send me one Super Chewer toy and exclude the box, plush toys, and treats. I thought this was a fair compromise, but they said it wasn’t possible. It’s not that the additional $9 per month would have broken the bank, but it’s the principle that mattered to me. I felt that Bark should have offered a solution that resolved my problem without costing me more money.
The real eye-opener came when I was at Target and saw Bark branded "Super Chewer" toys for just $15 each—or less. For the same cost as my basic subscription, I could have gotten two Super Chewer toys from Target every month, without the extras I didn't want, and with an option to return them to the store if they fell apart.
One would expect that signing up for a subscription directly from the manufacturer would offer better prices, quality, and service than buying individually from a retailer. However, I found the opposite to be true. In hindsight, purchasing Super Chewer toys from Target and skipping the subscription would have been a wiser choice. Now, I've lost interest in buying Bark products entirely.
Moreover, communication with BARK's customer service was extremely slow and ineffective. I opted to email just to maintain a record, yet issues raised in October weren’t resolved until January. Each response took around five days and typically started with, “We have a lot of pack members reaching out for assistance at the moment, but I sincerely appreciate your patience!” Each reply came from a different representative who didn’t always review past messages or fully address my concerns. The solutions were unclear, failed to happen, involved extra costs, and ultimately led to more confusion rather than resolution.
Throughout this ordeal, I felt like my concerns weren’t actually addressed until halfway through my subscription, months later. The customer service team seemed more interested in sticking to their policies rather than finding a solution that worked for me. Responses also felt scripted, as if they weren't genuinely interested in resolving the issue.
As a result, I would like to warn fellow pet owners about my experience. Marketing efforts and huge profits seem to be more important than being "Obsessed with making pups and their parents happy,” which is how they close their emails. After numerous communications, wasted hours of my time, and mounting frustration, they finally agreed to cancel my subscription, but not before I paid for three out of the six months. Ultimately, I ended up spending nearly $90 on low-quality toys that I could have easily found at a dollar store for much less, along with unwanted treats. Neither provided a benefit to my dog.
The only thing that seemed well-executed was the branding and packaging, which clearly is where a lot of my money went. Though the box itself was high quality—better than the toys, in fact—it ended up in the recycling bin immediately after I opened it, underscoring yet another wasteful element of the service. This experience was one of the worst I've dealt with, and it was incredibly disappointing. Based on this, I wouldn’t recommend Bark products to anyone for dog toys, treats, or anything else.

I used to love Barkbox. Something changed this past year. Their service is terrible now. I renewed being promised the Harry Potter toys. They never sent that box, just a bunch of repeats. My dogs don't like the treats, so I only get the toys. I requested to cancel since they didn't fulfill their promise and I don't want to keep getting the same toys every few months. I've been getting the run around from customer service and they keep referring to me as a new customer, even though I have been a customer for several years. Now they say they will cancel after next month (Feb 2025.) We will see. I already removed the automatic renewal on my account. That was a struggle as well.

I was so excited to try I have pocket Beagles so I paid to get 2 boxes a month, we'll the toys are gone in 1.5 seconds and as for the treats they would rather eat dirt and my pups are not to picky. So I tried for three months to contact someone. When I did get a response they said I cannot just cancel. I have several more months to pay but they can upgrade to a super chewer box. (Oh boy)

After I emailed they offered a partial credit on the next month box and changed the billing date so I could see the toys, I think. Not sure if I could choose them from the communication. I was excited to try BarkBox to spoil my dogs, especially after hearing great things from a family member who showed me the app. However, I quickly noticed I didn’t have access to the dashboard to customize my box like they did. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue with customer service—who repeatedly assured me it would be fixed within 24-48 hours—the problem was never resolved. To make matters worse, I even forwarded them an email from BarkBox advising me to review and make last-minute changes via the dashboard before shipping, but nothing came of it. After two months of this ongoing frustration, I decided to cancel my subscription. If you’re looking for a service that allows customization and reliable customer support, this isn’t it. Don’t waste your time or money.

I was excited to try out BarkBox, but the treats are junk food and gave my dog some intestinal trouble, and apart from one, she ended up not being interested in the toys. I also find the boxes to be overpriced for what they are, just overall not worth it. I cancelled my membership/autopay after the first box or two, but since it’s a subscription, they won’t cancel it until the six month term is finished. That’s already pretty annoying, but after it was supposed to end (June 2024) they continued sending me boxes and charging me the monthly fee for it.
I travel a lot of work, and forgot when the subscription was supposed to end. I noticed a new charge from them on 1/1/25, looked up my confirmation of cancellation from 6 months ago, and contacted them about it, but apart from an automated message that is no help, they have not responded. Awful customer service, and sneaky, possibly fraudulent, business practices. Save yourself a headache, and do not sign up with them.

If there was a zero option I would give that! Customer service is a joke! There is none! The Reddit thread has approximately 5,000 members and the vast majority cite non-existent customer support. My experience is I did not receive what I ordered and when I tried to cancel I got a primer in their contract language. Canned answers on why they did not answer my live chat, emails or SMS. I have cancelled my renewal but I’m sticking with the box my dogs will not get as I have twice now cleaned up vomit that contained hard plastic from the BarkBox super chewer toys! Beware beware beware!!

I received a promo opportunity to get a box subscription for 6 months and the first would be $7, cancel any time. I wanted to be sure I could cancel it if I didn't like the first promo rated box and I thought I had read the fine print carefully enough, but there was a separate paragraph I found after the fact to prove I was wrong. When I received the shipment about 2 weeks after the order (long by today's standards) I found the toys to be cheap quality and that my dog didn't love the treats. I tried to cancel and there was no option to do so. The only way is to email a generic inbox that is poorly monitored and the responses come in after a week or 2 of routing follow ups. The customer service is awful to work with in my experience and the quality of the items is just not good. I will never sign up with them again and I deeply regret doing so in the first place.

We have Alaskan Klee Kai pups. They are smaller dogs, but are known for de-squeaking the squeaker toys. We've gotten a lot of the toys from Chewys in the past, like the squirrel log and dino-volcano. The toys from Bark Box have lasted just as long if not longer than the other toys. This month it'll be our 4th month of barkbox and they haven't gotten a squeaker out of any of the bark-box toys yet. We accidentally got a 'tough chewer' toy as an add-on and let me tell you! I cut the felt to let the balls out since, after days of chewing and shaking it, there was no way they were opening it! The treats are great quality and even my picky eater chews them up.
Now onto some of the downsides and why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5. Their shipping information leaves a lot to be desired. Their website isn't easy to navigate to find shipping information if you have multiple things shipping simultaneously. There is no way to see past orders shipped. You won't know when during the month your box will arrive. They tend to do holiday themes but your box will likely arrive after the holiday. Why give me a turkey box Nov 28th?
I seem to get the monthly boxes towards the end of the month. I got the Halloween box 2 days before Halloween. Okay, but playing with Halloween items for several weeks would be great. Everything feels after the fact. I paid for 6 months upfront and got an introductory box for a lower price. The billing is confusing because when you sign up for 6 months, you're signing up for 7 - your introductory box plus an additional 6 months. My pups love the bark box and get excited when I start opening a box in front of them now! I will for sure be renewing.

When they say they love your pet, they really mean it. My naughty dog, Mouse, is a super SUPER Chewer. He ended up turning one of the summer box super chewer toys into a snack. A peice got stuck, and emergency surgery was needed to save his life. I made sure Mouse was ok, then canceled my box subscription and explained the reasoning. BarkBox leadership reached out to me to check on mouse and launched an investigation to see how this could happen. I just got off the phone with the BarkBox leadership, and they stated the will refund me the full amount of Mouses surgery and after care he needed 😭. I was not expecting that especially in today's world. I'm so appreciative of their caring nature and their love for my sweet (but very naughty) boy.

Horrible Customer service! The first box was half worth the subscription since it added extra toys. The treats was one pack of gravy and two bags of these cranberry treats that are the same... My dog likes the gravy but hated the cranberry treats. The second box was supposed to be two treats and two toys. I feel like that wasn't worth the 25 bucks so I sent emails to the company to cancel the subscription. 6 EMAILS LATER and they still charged my bank for the second box. 4 of the emails were sent before the transaction was supposed to occur! No response from any of the 6 emails. So I made an dispute against the merchant through my bank today 12/16/24. There's no number listed on their website to call to cancel nor any option to cancel on the "subscription" view. Just to "email to make changes to your subscription". Ridiculous!

I'm hoping they can make this right and I'll change my review. But I don't have much faith to be honest. Save your money and get your furry friends toys and treats elsewhere.

This company is a trash. I subscribed for six months, tried to cancel before it was renewed automatically. Since I was unable to do so (I could not login my account on the app), I emailed and asked them to cancel my subscription in time and not to renew it. But they took their time to respond and let my subscription renew automatically.” They charged me for the renewal and started to send a box. I contacted my credit union to dispute this charge. This customer service is no help. There is no customer service which is customer satisfaction. Do not start subscriptions with them. You can buy Super Chewer toys at Petsmart, Amazon etc.

It has been a complete nightmare to even get a hold of anyone. Will be disputing the charge with my bank instead. So over this company!

DO NOT BUY A SUBSCRIPTION TO BARK BOX, IT'S A RIPOFF! I've had nothing but issues since the beginning. At first ,they sent toys that my dog ripped to pieces in no time. I called and asked for something more durable. For the last 4 months, my dog has received toys as hard as rocks. I have called a few times and asked for a softer chew toy. I continue to receive these plastic hard toys I can't give to my dog. You can't cancel the subscription until your 6 month contract is up. You are tied to the almost $40 a month box for 6 months. So upset I fell for their overpriced box of crap.

This has been one of the worst experiences with a subscription that I’ve ever had. I’m very sad because I was looking forward to it. Their site is NOT user friendly and does not account for people having multiple dogs. I ordered 2 top tier subscriptions so that I could get them both the dog beds, then I was told even though I spent the same amount of money on both that I only get 1 which has still yet to be delivered. Nowhere in the ads did it say that. I would have not picked this service had I known. My dogs are like my children and I can’t get 1 a bed and not both especially if I paid the top price for it. This actually benefits the company because 2 top tier subscriptions (no discount for multiple dogs) to the same address. Maybe they should offer a box that can have an add on to it to include multiple dogs especially if you aren’t going to honor the free gifts per subscription. You need to specify free gifts are per address not per box.

This is the worst company to deal with. I have an 8 month old puppy and all of the toys lasted less than 5 minutes. No pulling. No tugging. Just fell apart and almost choked my dog. I contacted the company and they said they would send replacements. Nothing has been sent. I requested a refund and crickets. Keep your money and prevent the hassle and headache. Buy from a reputable store. That way you can actually see the toy before you buy. Bark Box is a Nightmare to deal with.

Make sure to monitor when your subscription expires. They will renew it without giving you notice or asking for consent. I'm on my 3rd email exchange trying to get it canceled. They do not give you the option to cancel once they have renewed the subscription. Save your time, money, and frustration and go with someone else. The boxes have cute themes and toys, but the toys are not durable at all. Treats are not the quality I prefer for my dogs. Customer service is worthless.

I have a subscription to Bark Box. The treats are the same month after month. They only change the shape and name on package. The toys are less than quality and are easily destroyed. Keep a close watch if you should subscribe - there’s a hidden small print that you’re on auto renew. If you need to ask a question or contact them they don’t answer the phone but tell you to go to their website. You can text or email and you’ll receive an automated message they’ll get back to you. But they don’t. So don’t expect it. The boxes are clever with a great story line but my dog can’t read. So it’s more for the owner than the dog. Items are way over priced for what you received. Just keep watching the small print! This business is more about the “gotcha” for an auto draft than it is quality items for my pet.

I have been a long time customer of BARKBOX as I have owned my own pet sitting business for 20 years. My yearly subscription automatically renewed And they were kind enough to reverse the charges for me when I explained that I couldn’t afford another year. They were really wonderful about it and it’s so hard to find good customer service anywhere these days! I was so thrilled that they took such good care of me! This company was amazing for my puppy. She had loved everything that she got, and everything was always so durable and worked out perfectly and from the way my puppy acted. The treats were super delicious too. Unfortunately our puppy got Parvo and sadly passed away. When reaching out to a representative they were empathetic, kind and were quick to fix the situation as we obviously no longer needed the BarkBox. They offered extra help afterwards to help our family through this grieving time. They were more than generous with what they were able to do for us in such a hard time. I am so glad that I was able to have an experience with such a great company that really does care about our furry friends and their owners. I will forever recommend bark box to every puppy owner I know.

I originally would get my items on time, there recently have been several months where they auto charge me on the 1st of the month and I don't receive the box that month. I have reached out numerous times and they say it is being packaged or being shipped. They send me a tracking number and a week later it still says label created but no package received by the shipping company. It is not worth the aggravation or money and I have canceled my subscription. Unfortunately I have a 1 year subscription so I have to keep getting it another few months. The first box was delivered very fast and my dogs love it (except for the food topper). They took my money on the 1st of the month but after 1 week no update, no "it has shipped "... I contacted them and it was explained they send them out in the 2nd week... I had to contact them again on the 18th of the month and was given a tracking #. On the 22nd it still had not been given to UPS after yet ANOTHER time of contacting them. Only then was it given to UPS. They claim I will have it tomorrow (the 24th).

If I could give it 0 stars I really would. The customer support is awful. I signed up for a 6 month supply of Barkbox and was completely not satisfied with my first two boxes. I wanted to cancel and they did let me cancel, however they charged me for a third box after I had complained that I didn’t want to receive any more of their boxes. The customer service people are awful and do not really care about how you or your dog are doing. The toys are very cheap, not durable at all and I have to supervise my dog while he plays with them because they’re poorly made and he will rip through them. He is a doberman pinscher, they offered me a super chewer box which I absolutely declined because they wanted to charge me more for it and the nylon/rubber toys in their super chewer boxes are awful for your dog's teeth.
I work at a shelter and we get barkbox toys donated frequently so I wanted to see if it was something my dog could enjoy, I now see why they are donated. The treat quality is very poor, I would expect higher quality ingredients from a company who claims to care so much about your dog. I would just save your money, it's not worth the effort to cancel if you are not satisfied and they will not refund your money no matter what “satisfaction guaranteed” slogan they use. I am not a happy customer, buying toys and treats from the store serves me and my boy much better and is much cheaper.

Poor service experiences all around. While looking for information on my September box I got the run around. It was lost, then the next day en route, then somehow within the hour lost again. Support was down with no message alerting customers, and while looking for another contact saw where the items sent in my boxes are listed. My first box was a double deluxe and missing 3 items, my 2nd was missing 1, and my 3rd is either on the way or lost, no one knows. Then today after cancelling my subscription with them I get an email offering me another double deluxe if I rejoin, and then going into detail about the phallic nature of a toy design.
This is far from appropriate communication with the folks you have already burnt bridges with. The only solution to my issue that was offered was to offer me a lesser value product for the missing box, no discussion of the missing items, and I had to fight to get a refund or even a response since their support chats, texts and emails do not work. Their promotional decisions leave me seriously wondering. I'm really not a prude, but the word ** should actually not be in any promotions for dog toys.

I subscribed to Barkbox for six months to give it a try due to seeing all the cool toys and themes offered several times on my Instagram. The first month I got the Harry Potter box and my dog was happy every month getting his box. The second month May starwars was advertised. I got other toys. It seems you get crappy small toys if your dog is small breed not the ones they advertise on the website to get you to subscribe. In the end, after 6 months, I canceled. You can get more toys and treats at PetSmart, Petco wherever for less than $32 monthly which I paid.

At first, they would charge me on the 1st of the month and only take 2 weeks to arrive. Then it was the 3rd week. For the month of September, 2024 they charged me the 1st of the month, and now, only after I complained I had not received it, it is estimated to be due in on September 27th. I have had to contact customer service 2 times now to even get my dog's box. It's a subscription. They know it needs to be sent out. I don't know what the issue is, or maybe once you complain they make you contact them to even get your dog's box. It's not what I expect from a monthly subscription to have to contact them to get it sent.
They charge your account on 1st of every month, at the minimum it takes 2 weeks to arrive. Their guarantee is, per their "Happy Team" that it only has to arrive within the same month. Literally, they could have it arrive the last day of the month and then charge you the very next day for the next month. It's 2024, they know they have to send it. I have 2 more boxes left on my subscription. It irks me I have to pay for them, but I have already cancelled my renewal.

I have a Dogo Argentino that is a very aggressive chewer. Normally when I buy toys from the store they might last couple hours before the insides are outside. Now with bark box toys takes her at most 2 days to rip them apart. Best toys for the price. 1000% recommend.

I’ve been a member since 2020, and in the beginning I had no problem with the company, originally the box would ship within the first few days and I’d get it around mid month. The last few years or so it’s sucked, boxes come extremely late or on multiple occasions I never even got the box or there would be add on toys missing. Also if you have a dog that is over 50 pounds, don’t even bother getting any of the costumes m, I got the Harry Potter quidditch jerseys that’s was the xxl/xxl size, and it was extremely tight on my lab, it actually ripped getting it off of her.

BarkBox is okay, the toy packages are by far cheaper than getting individual at the store. I got the Super Chewy, they hold up for sure. But they are 2 lbs each so when the dog drops them it hurts. Half of them my dog tears the top layer and ends up eating it. Have ask for that to stop. It hasn't, the treats made him sick, lastly the boxes were late every month. They said they would fix it and have yet to. When I reached out with all concerns got a very generic response but no resolution.

They ship using USPS. For communities, that don’t get their mail delivered. You actually have to go to the post office during business hours which makes it hard for a working person. Our post office is so small. They have boxes piled all over inside because they don’t have enough lock boxes that you can go and get it after hours. I choose to use Chewy now, they actually still deliver to our house. for the companies that are too cheap to use Federal express or ups, I am finding companies that still will provide good customer service and actually deliver it to your house. If I have to get in the car To pick it up at the post office it’s easy to go to the store and buy it.

DO NOT waste your time with Barkbox. Once you sign up on their webpage, they tell you a price but it is NOT the price they charge you. I was told that it would be $144.38 total. I was charged $144.38, $1 and also $21.26. I had originally signed up for the 6 months and it said that the first box would be $15 for a deal they were having. So after seeing 3 charges on my credit card I messaged them and got no response. I used the chat which I'm pretty sure that it's just AI and you don't talk to a real person. So each month is supposedly around $29ish a month. I told them I want to cancel the whole thing and that it said that since I just ordered, the order hasn't been packed or shipped out.
They said that they can't refund the first box. I told them yes they can that I want a full refund because it hasn't been boxed up or shipped so to give me a full refund. They said they will only refund me $138.11. So doesn't seem like there is much I can do other than share my experience with others. I wish I would have read honest reviews about the company before trying to purchase from them. Especially since you don't get what you pay for. They tried to get me to buy the "lite" box which is a toy and treat, where you pay around $20-$22 for what would cost you less on Amazon or a pet store.

I didn't realize it would renew automatically but that's prob my fault for not reading everything. I used it for a year and the dogs have been happy with the toys and treats. Issues: Out of 5 boxes so far four have been late. They suggest you can customize your boxes, you can't. They send you a sheet everything month saying tell us what your dog would like to see, but won't change the contents at all. The boxes aren't as advertised, good toys are for new customers. We changed our box to be just toys no treats. They didn't send us enough toys in June, we are still waiting for the replacement. They also couldn't replace with a super chewer only regular. The customer service is really hit and miss. I cancelled the re-subscribe when I first joined, not because I didn't want more but because I don't want to be tied in. The status changed without my input to re-subscribe me, luckily I caught it and cancelled once again.
Good things: They do some amazing toys, fabric covered food puzzle that my very high energy dog adores. But you only get 1 good one, the others are just lumps of plastic. If I could guarantee that all the toys in the box would be to the same standard I would subscribe forever. However you know 2 will be rubbish so it's not worth the money.

I ordered (monthly) the Allergy Friendly Dental Kit. I later ordered (again monthly), changing to the Original kit. The system indicated I had no subscriptions. After receiving notice of the Original kit shipping, I received another 2 days later saying the Allergy kit was shipping. When checking my account, I got "unauthorized signature" for accessing subscriptions. I have asked the company to cancel everything, including all my information from their database. My request is still pending. I also asked for them to include a ONE TIME purchase option. Although I don't plan to order from Bark again. I doubt I will ever start a subscription with any other company. Consumers are being scammed.

Sign up for 6 months. Had a couple of problems with the box missing toys. Spent 2 months trying to get the missing toy. They did replace it after 2 months waiting. When I signed up there was no mention of auto renewal.... I made several attempts to contact customer service. Finally a response after 3 days. This is the actual response....
"Usually, we can't end a subscription before the commitment is complete. This is because we carefully prepare the boxes according to your subscription and the pricing is based on the plan's duration. However, we understand your concerns and want to be as helpful as we can. Don't worry, I've made a special exception for you and closed your subscription. From now on, you won't be charged and won't receive any more BarkBoxes." I wonder if the fcc is Aware of this practice?... No mention then I can't cancel do to not honoring my commitment?.... I paid the whole six months upfront. Seems to me I did honor that commitment.... Buyer beware of their sneaky policies!

Beware of the hidden costs and subscription dates. I signed up for a 6 month subscription. What wasn't explained is that at the 6 month mark, BarkBox auto-renewed my subscription and locked it in for the additional 6 months making my subscription ACTUALLY 1 year. This was not explained in detail when I signed up. The ONLY way to cancel is to stop the auto-renew at the end of the 1 year mark which means I will continue to be charged the monthly fee until the end of year 1. This was falsely advertised and very misleading. I have reached out several times to barkbox representatives and have been officially ghosted. It is really disappointing that Barkbox can't be upfront about this because now they have fully lost my business and I will be making this known any way that I can.

I subscribed to Barkbox back in late January of this year. I have already had 2 late boxes, the current one has yet to arrive and it is the 28th of the month. They usually have great customer service. The last conversation this past week about my late box was enough to make me cancel my renewal for next year. They are quick to take your money on a set date, but the date your pup receives their box is not a big concern for the company. I do not recommend.

I'm so surprised at all the 1-2 star reviews! I've been with Barkbox almost all of my dog's life (she's 2 & ½ years old), and their customer service has always been amazing. They always offer me refunds if I have problems, or replacements or trades. I love that you can get in touch with them on chat any time and they're always very helpful. My dog also loves her treats and funny toys. If she doesn't like the toy they will also do a replacement. The only reason I took off one star was because they have been late with the box a few times. But one time hers was a month late they gave it to me for free. It's too bad everyone has had such bad experiences!

I have been loyal to them for years. Absolutely years. And even when times were tough the one thing I never wanted to cancel was my dog's Bark box. Fast forward to now and I’ve actually canceled a couple times in the last couple years because the quality just keeps going more and more downhill. They’re sending the same treats that my dog hates and normally they send some kind of chewy or bigger item like that and my dog got all excited waiting for it when I open the box and there was a stupid meal topper and he is livid. Quite frankly I’m even more livid because I’m Karen when it comes to my dog.
Do better and you should be ashamed of what you are charging. I have a sneaking suspicion that now that they want $39 a box the people that have been with them the longest that are paying the least are getting the short end of the stick so that we cancel and then then when we come back we have to pay double price. The products are just a bunch of random dog toys they send you every month that probably are cheap stuff they get in bulk on clearance. Sorry to say that in the first few months they were very attentive and my pups liked the toys (although they destroyed them very quickly). I contacted customer service the first month and they sent a replacement toy. By month 4, my box never showed up! I had paid for some "add on's" or extra's, which also never showed up. I continued to contact customer service and kept being promised that it was "ready to ship". My add on's were now to be included in the next month and they were going to double that box for my issues. Month 5, no box again!! They tried to tell me I cannot cancel my subscription or receive a refund (I was dumb and pre-paid for the entire year). After several chats and contacting customer service I hopefully got this subscription canceled and I'm supposed to get a refund. I'll never see either of the missing boxes I'm sure. Save your money and don't use Bark Box.

Not a one of the cute products they advertise on Facebook, TV or elsewhere ever arrived, just a bunch of overpriced junk. I signed up for 6 months for fun, and there was NO mention of automatic renewal, but they did renew and charged my card a fortune. Subsequently, they would not refund the entire renewal charge. Was excited about this, but very sadly regret giving them my money.

From the very beginning, email after email, I had explain my dog did not like any of the treats, they promised they’d send only toys, that was only another run around, more emails with many different people “and the their pups”. I specifically signed up because they offered the DNA test. , Well by the 2nd month I was shelling out close to 40.00 a month, through PayPal. I’m so fed up!!!! This was my last step.

I specifically asked when I signed up that I did not want to auto renew, but they will auto renew you anyway they make it extremely difficult to cancel and extremely difficult to contact anyone there. I’m in the middle of disputing a charge and this has been ongoing for a week now, I do not recommend this company unless you plan on staying with them for the long-haul because. They don’t make it easy.

My dog likes all the treats. However, he is not picky when it comes to treats. He plays with the toys a little but not that much by himself. My review is for the great hassle free customer service experience I had when I asked to pause my subscription due to traveling outside of the US for half a year. They said the maximum time they could pause the subscription was for 2 months, so I asked if they could cancel my subscription, refund me the remaining amount (I paid for a 12 month subscription and there were 9 months left) and I could rejoin when I return and they said yes immediately and refunded me immediately the full 9 months amount. Very easy and hassle free experience. Thank you!

It has been 13 days since I’ve placed my order with BarkBox and it has yet to be shipped. I was told 2-3 days for it to process before being shipped. I’ve gotten in touch with your chat customer service 6 times. Each time someone told me something different about when my box would ship. This is my first order from you guys and I am very disappointed. Almost 2 weeks now and my items have still not left the warehouse. The items I ordered are for my pup's Gotcha Day … And now they are going to be late. I need a real solution. Can you guys stop beating around the bush and actually make sure my package gets shipped in a timely manner? Your site says 2-8 days. This is well overdue. BarkBox needs better customer service and should not lie to paying customers about when their items will ship.

So back in March 2024 I canceled the subscription because at this time I could not continue to afford it. So for almost two hours I made sure it was canceled. The only thing you can do is “disable” the auto renewal through the app which you would assume that means it stops the automatic monthly purchase. But no. I find out now. So I contact them and instead they tell me that no matter what they will be taking the money until the subscription is done at the end…. Uh excuse me???? Instead of giving me my money back for them taking it for the past two months when I didn’t want it. They are now going to continue to steal from me?!?! Blatantly steal from me…. I have the screenshots of the conversation for proof as well so Jann…. Yea I will be sure to let everyone know that your company is a bunch of thieves and only care about money. Not your customer's happiness…. I would have come back when I was better financially set…. But now. I will never go back.

I do wish that I checked here first! My pup has NO interest in anything that came in her box. The treats are definitely not for a pup of her size (120 lbs) and she begrudgingly takes one from me. The toys are in the corner collecting dust. I wanted to try them out because it did look good on the website. HUGE mistake! They say I am locked in for 5 more boxes (month-to-month) at $35.00 a box. So, 2 toys and 2 bags of treats that she will not use? They do not care, they are getting their money, right? Who cares if the customer and pup is happy. They are on the way to the bank. Just cheaper and a lot easier for me to take her into a pet store and let her pick out what SHE wants. What toys she wants and the treats I already know for her. I wished I never tried them.

Wow I completely underwhelmed by this company. I have a small dog so he loves the boxes but they will charge your account and then it literally takes 3-4 weeks to get delivered. I have contacted them on several occasions and twice I was told that they were very sorry for the delay and they would double or deluxe the box for us and this has not happened. Also I ordered an add on for April, so I gave the extra money and it did not show up with the box. They are very apologetic but never seem to right the issue. This is only our 5th box of 12 and I am considering canceling at this point. They really need to get this figured out.

Barkbox like many company's promises that the first item will be free, if you agree to pay into more products in the future. Bad business practice. Support kept beating around the bush, one person telling me that I needed to buy a different box, to then refund. Another in support tells me that I need to select the single box as I "agreed" on the plan. I go to the plan selection screen to be shown that the single box cost $35.

The products for our rescue dog are not strong enough. We put in her breed/size weight. They send us the small dog toys that are destroyed in minutes. They are extremely cheap dog toys. The snacks are also quite cheap. They seem extremely mass manufactured and are also small. Maybe your experience will be better with smaller dogs, but for us it doesn't make sense. You also cannot cancel your subscription and they increased our price after 3 months for no reason. Customer service doesn't respond so good luck dealing with them.

I am not a fan of this company! I wish I knew they force you into a 12 month contract that you cannot break or pause. All the toys are at retail stores like Walmart, Target and Amazon so there's no point to the box. You can't skip any months and there's no flexibility. The only way they would allow me to skip ONE month was to get locked back in to a FULL YEAR contract. It's a scam and it's not worth it!!

I am writing for a refund as my subscription I had prepaid for expired and your company took it upon themselves to charge my PayPal account, without my permission, after I repeatedly said no, I do not want to purchase any more of your items. I have had nothing but issues since the first time I clicked on your website. I am more than disappointed in the fact that I have to spend my time more than once to get money returned to me because the company takes whatever amount they want, not what is agreed upon.

I was really excited to try BarkBox again. It's been a few years, my previous dog passed. I have a 15lb terrier now so I thought the durability, or should I say lack of, would be ideal for him. They're super cute, fun and sassy themes are just that, the quality of toys isn't there. He destroys them within minutes, not some, all!! Additionally they're super quick to ensure they charge you on the 1st of every month, but ummm...today is the 12th and our box hasn't even been packed or shipped yet. It's gets to us later and later in the month with each box. All around disappointing!

Caution: if you don't wish to continue using this service, you must cancel the auto-renewal feature online. I purchased 6-month BarkBox subscriptions for my two dogs. To be honest, I found the products gimmicky and not worth the cost. Attempting to cancel the auto-renewal on their website, I succeeded in canceling only one subscription due to the site's user-unfriendliness. I made numerous attempts to contact their customer service to cancel the other subscription's renewal, especially since I'm now earning less and can't afford it. However, they never responded or acknowledged my messages. While I accepted the initial 6-month subscriptions, I expected a response regarding the renewal, now I'm stuck paying for another cycle. Don't expect any help from this company. I recommend staying away from them.

The first month of this subscription was great. We received three stuffed Christmas themed toys and four (small-ish) bags of treats the week between Christmas and New Year's. Since then I am charged at different times of the month and the box doesn’t ship on any regular date. Since subscribing I have received numerous emails about special “sign up” gifts, none of which are available for current customers. I’m not renewing after the 6-month period is done (can’t cancel it sooner). Toys are the same price as in the marketplace and the snacks aren’t worth it.

I just cancelled my subscription to Bark Box. I am writing this to express my disappointment. We were so excited to receive our first box, filled with toys from the island of misfit toys. It was spectacular! You can’t imagine our utter disappointment when this month's box arrived. We opened the box to see a city scape insert showing several city themed toys, only to find two small toys that weren’t even indicated on the insert. Toys we could have purchased separately for less than $10. It made us regret ever looking at your service in the first place.

I have had this subscription for over a year and did not know I would be charged an auto renewal. I was not informed via email that the renewal was coming up. Now I want to cancel and I cannot get a hold of anyone over the phone. They only allow chat and email messages. When I tried chatting, there was nobody that responded. When emailed, I did get a response but the person would only try to sell me other items and avoided the conversation of refund and cancelation all together. Because of this my entire experience with this company is ruined and I would never recommend them to anyone.

Due to consistent delivery issues, I decided to cancel auto-renewal of my 12-month subscription which was set to end in 3 months. I was sad to cancel and decided to reach out to the company via chat to explain why I’d made the decision and also to request a replacement of a damaged toy I received in this month’s box. So what does the agent do? He immediately cancels my account, and I then had to spend close to an hour with another chat representative to get my account restored - which she could only do by putting me back on another 12-month subscription! So now instead of 3 months left, I have 12.
I requested a transcript of the chat so I can again cancel in 3 months and she never sent it to me despite promising she would. I could not be less happy with Barkbox right now. All the aggravation is not worth the nice boxes - especially when they consistently take multiple weeks to arrive after I’m charged. I feel completely duped, and having read the other issues here, I have no confidence that I’ll be able to cancel again in 3 months. I believe this “miscommunication” as they called it was intentional to hook me into another year when I expressed my intention to cancel at the end of the year.

I signed up for the standard Barkbox but after the first delivery arrived, I realized I somehow got the dental subscription. Trying to get this fixed has been a nightmare. The Customer service number doesn’t take calls, the Chat feature takes so long to answer that it times out, and the email correspondence takes 48-72 hrs to reply. I just got my second dental box and sent it back. I foolishly prepaid for an upfront discount and now I’m afraid I’ll be eating the cost. I know that I’ll not be able to reach anyone to cancel it and get a refund. Buyer beware-don’t work with this company. At this point, it’s a scam.

BarkBox started out great. Their customer service was wonderful. Now all they care about is up-selling when you have any issues. For the last 6-8 months, my boxes have been taking 3-4 weeks at least to arrive. I am charged on the first and don't get my box until the end of the month. In July, they switched our shipping to FedEx which was perfect, but then promptly took that away. I feel like it was simply to get us to stay another month. My box this month didn't ship for over two weeks and will take an additional two weeks to get here. Customer service is always willing to double the box or provide a free month, but they refuse to solve the real problem which is the shipping carrier they are using.
When I talked to Brandi today, who is supposedly a member of the leadership team, all she could do was apologize and tell me that nothing is going to change, but she will send the info up the chain. This is the same thing they have said for the last 6 months. I cancelled and will spend my money with a company who cares about their customers moving forward. There are plenty of other subscription services to choose from.

We started Barkbox in memory of a dear friend's dog passing and we had a new puppy that liked to chew. One big issue that totally ruined it for us. We live on a private road and USPS does not have to come down our street at all. With our jobs and hours we can not go to our post office Mon-Fri. Our small town post office is only open for 2 hours on Saturday. If we can not make it there the package is returned. We let them know that we needed another delivery company and it was great until I received an email that they will no longer give preferred delivery methods. Well confirmed by two other staff members. We can no longer use their services. This just is not very good customer service. If I want anything delivered I should get the option, when paying shipping, how it is delivered!

We have now had several times boxes not show up. We have gotten two responses "We will double your pup's box for next month" or you get two of the same boxes. The arrival of boxes is erratic. You can get one box on the last week of the month and the next a week or two later. Then not again for 6 or 7 weeks. One of the serious downfalls of this subscription is the difficulty in canceling. For example, if you sign up for 6 months, after 6 months you are auto renewed and if you cancel you owe for 6 months. If you are anywhere not in the renewal, you are stuck purchasing. We are currently working with the credit card company to reverse charges for boxes that were not shipped. As far as the toys, they are cute and themed but don't necessarily last that long. The snacks are high quality and the themes are fun and relatable.

I have tried to cancel my subscription three times and my credit card is still being charged. I had to cancel my credit card to stop these charges. I was going to reach out to the Attorney General of Barkbox's home state, and then I saw it was lawless NY. No one prosecutes any crimes like this in New York anymore, I'm on my own.

The quality of the toys is top notch. The price is definitely a good deal, especially since many toys have another inside for those that like to tear them up. The themes are so fun, you'll look forward to it as much as your dog. Customer service is exceptional! I've been a customer for almost two years and it has been a positive experience in every way. Once, a toy was torn apart (new Pittie pup) in 20 minutes. They replaced it for free. The treats are great quality...and I am very particular about what I feed my dogs. Yes, there may be something extra when you sign up that ends after the first year. It is up to you to read before hand. Or, ask later if you notice a change. Customer service thru text or email is very fast and friendly. I have never been disappointed in any way.

Barkbox is unfortunately one of the several subscription services that attempts to bring in new users through discounts then makes cancelling your account near impossible. The toys are poor quality and durability and once you realize this and try to cancel your subscription, they are intentionally deceptive about "updating your subscription" instead of allowing you to stop future payments. Bad experience all around.

BarkBox traps you in joining by offering a free extra for first timers. Which seems to be the trend with subscription services. I realized signing up I had to participate for 6 months. I was renewed for another 6 months, and you cannot get out of it. The toys are the same, my dog at this point destroys them in 30 minutes so it’s not worth it for me. I have had shipping problems and delays. Two of my boxes we received weren’t the themes of the month, that was disappointing. The biggest disappointment with this company is they take your money out at the beginning of the month and you don’t get your items until the 17th of the month. The company will make things right when needed, I personally will just go to the pet stores to purchase items for my dog.

I feel like the subscription is misleading. I bought what I thought was a one time box, later to find out I am on for a year. 90% of the treats we get we give away because our dog won’t touch them. The toys are ok but we get some that’s way too big for our Morkie. Seems a company trying to make its way with superior customer service would take into account when someone wants to cancel. Not Barkbox. Then you need to manually change your subscription which in my case was to cancel it, so it don’t auto renew. I get auto renewing but that should be a customer choice, not a default. Again we come back to customer service. So clearly they are out for the dollar not the reputation as a great company. Once my year is up I’m out and will never use a box subscription for my pet again. If they need treats we have a Walmart.

My dog Max passed away two weeks ago and I contacted BarkBox to cancel their product. They immediately gave me a refund for my last box with Max without me asking for it. It was just a nice gesture. They also sent me sympathy cards with an artist who drew Max for me. They just simply asked to email a picture of Max and to my surprise, the artist drew him. They even followed up to ask if I was ok. Max loved his BarkBox so much that I decided to keep sending to my son's dog. Thank you Barkbox, companies like you are difficult to find.

BarkBox provides a great product for dogs and horrible customer service for humans. There have been several occasions on which the shipment of a box has been delayed or missed entirely. When contacting customer service, one needs to be prepared for at least an hour, long wait and chat. On one occasion, I was promised a replacement box, which never arrived. Upon contacting customer service a second time I was informed that my contract would be extended by a month to compensate for the missing shipment. That also did not occur. Today, I reached Edwin at customer service, who attempted to suggest that I had received a replacement box. Unfortunately, He suggested that one of the boxes that was part of my regular annual subscription had constitute a replacement box. Simply untrue. Again, the boxes are great for dogs. From a different perspective, the customer service is for the dogs.

I had the Bark Box for a year, and after the year was up, I cancelled my subscription, twice. They keep sending me boxes even though I had cancelled them. After the first time I cancelled and they sent another box, I emailed them telling them that I had cancelled. I went in and cancelled them again, only to get another email today saying they were sending me another box. They do not understand what the words "Cancel My Subscription" means.

I recently purchased a BarkBox subscription for my pups. After filling out the information, my first box was promptly delivered. I clearly did not mark any products with meat, only plants. Pork treats were sent in my box. While the toys were cute, they didn't last over a day. This is a monthly subscription, so I immediately canceled auto renew. The next box came with in 9 days, not 30 days, so charged again. This box had even poorer quality toys and again, food I cannot feed to my dogs. The toys fall apart so quickly, they are actually a danger to my dogs with the big plastic squeakers and all of the fuzz. At this point, it's a complete waste of money. So disappointed and so disappointed with the dog trainers that recommend their products.

This company makes it next to impossible to cancel a subscription. I specifically requested immediate cancellation last month when they charged my credit card with an automatic annual renewal without even letting me know that my subscription was ending or giving me the option to extend it or cancel it. They claimed at that time they would have to charge me for the July box since it had already been delivered. OK, fine I said, but clearly stated in writing via email on 7/28 that I wanted them to immediately cancel the subscription. Several of their customer service reps tried to convince me to choose a different service, but again, after a string of emails, I clearly asked them to immediately cancel the subscription. Imagine my shock when I received yet another BarkBox yesterday.
I reached out to them again and they claimed I never responded about the cancellation of the service. That is a lie -- I sent the email chain where I make it abundantly clear that I wanted immediate cancellation. Now they won't send me a prepaid shipping label so I can return the unwanted box to them. What a SCAM. I notice in other reviews that others have had similar experiences to mine with this company. Do yourself a favor and go with BullyMake. They have better consumer reviews in general and do not have any bad reviews for service like BarkBox does.

I canceled my subscription because I’m inundated with product, and that I noticed that I had another box being shipped to me. So I went onto my account and saw that I would have a additional boxes coming. I messaged their customer service to try to get this canceled and they said that although I was being billed monthly I was part of the 12 month subscription plan. They were able to adjust me to an every other month option but could not full on cancel. I asked them to escalate this to leadership to please adjust me to the monthly plan, since that was what I thought I was on, and then get me canceled. I told them that they are wasting their product and my money as I am now giving away most of what comes to my house. Then their online help service stopped talking to me.
I told them to please pass along my feelings that this service should be aware that families can become overwhelmed with product in a short time and would need to full on cancel subscription services. I may need to call my credit card to get it canceled that way. I don’t recall signing some one year agreement for monthly beer billing. I don’t believe I would’ve signed up for that. When I was paying monthly I believed it was a subscription service that I could shut off if I no longer needed it. At this point, I would never ever ever recommend this subscription to anyone. I will absolutely never buy products through them again since they are “unable to process returns at this time”, so they say, so I am stuck with their products. I absolutely feel like they are taking my money without my consent and I will get this stopped, with or without their help. Extremely disappointed. Really really poor customer care, as in they don’t care about their customers, evidently.

I would not recommend Bark Box to anyone. They never sent me the sign up promotional gift, which was supposed to be a dog bed. Then when I was signing up, it said that I would receive a discount if I paid for the full year rather than month to month. But what they didn't tell me is that the first month was at full price, so basically the discount was nonexistent. But the biggest complaint is that the toys are not durable at all. Virtually every month, my dog chews through the toys within minutes. When I complained, they tried to get me to sign up for a "super chewer" subscription at a much higher cost. Please save your money and do not give this company your business.

Beware of this company. They ask for a credit card for auto renewal. I cancelled before the new renewal, thought everything was good. They asked why. I told them my dog did not like the toys. I tried to be nice and just get it cancelled to stop at the end of that last contract. Thought everything was taken care of. They went and did a renewal. Several attempts to cancel.
The only email I get is, "Thank you for your response. Our team will be contacting you soon." THEY never CONTACTED. They will not pull this again. I have discussed with the company doing the payment. They will no longer be able to do any more auto renewals on my account. I want this cancelled and they will not respond. When your dog will not play with the toys anymore it is useless hard plastic that sits in the yard until thrown away.

No way to contact customer service except through email. I cancelled my subscription by following the instructions online; we were moving and had no forwarding address. Two boxes were left in my 6 month subscription. Not a problem, we were going to be at that address for another 6 weeks and would be able to receive the boxes. When subscription was over we continued to be charged and two boxes now have been delivered to an old address where we no longer live.
Contacted customer service and explained that the subscription had been cancelled and we should not have been charged to start a new 6 month subscription. Argument via email that rudely claimed that I had not cancelled my subscription and we were going to continue to be charged every month for another 6 months…. wanted us to prove we cancelled??? Really? Steps were followed per the company's instructions online This is why I do not and will not do auto-renew subscription services.

After several days of back and forth, I was finally able to cancel my subscription. I still wouldn’t recommend this company, it’s just not worth the hassle if it’s not a good fit for you and your pet.

I’m just leaving this review to warn anyone thinking about signing up for the monthly subscription box. The toys are of poor quality, they’re destroyed by my dog in about 2 days. My dog didn’t care for the treats either. When I tried to cancel I got a wordy email telling me basically that I’ll be charged the whole six months even if I’m extremely dissatisfied with the entire experience. This company locks you into a subscription then refuses to stop charging you even if you no longer want it

I signed up for the free memory foam dog bed. I received a small used bed. Then the replacement bed was a used bed that wasn’t memory foam. My dogs won’t eat the treats. The toys are easily torn apart. The only way to contact support is through Chat. I closed my account and was guaranteed that I wouldn’t be reviled but I was billed again. THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD!!!

BarkBox is a great idea. My dogs love them but they destroy the toys in one afternoon/evening. I just changed to the super chewer version and I hope it’s better as I don’t want them eating the fluff. They mostly like the treats and I feel it is a decent value as some of the toys I purchased separately were 15 bucks each. If you have dogs that really chew you should order the super chewer without plush toys!

My dogs were completely satisfied. However I was not. First month the box was wrong. I ordered a Super Chewer box and received the regular box. It was corrected and was just a email to correct. However, I then had to pay more. Although I did originally sign up for super chewer. Nowhere did I read auto renewal. It only says auto ship. So after my prepaid subscription was up, I was charged for another 6 months. I went round and round with emails and have not been reimbursed. The customer service is friendly but to me was very vague on answering my questions. Leaving me feeling manipulated. Not so fun! That is a bummer. $198 loss for me.

I ordered a six month subscription for $150. The first box was left abandoned in the lobby of my apartment building. The second was found in the hall my apartment is on but nowhere near my apartment. The third box never came. I contacted customer service to complain, so they cancelled my subscription. I asked why so they said they’d give me three free boxes for my trouble. I never got those either. It feels like I got scammed.

My dog gets so excited when he sees his BarkBox. The quality of the products is top notch and the monthly themes are so clever. They make humans laugh and canines literally jump for joy. They also will customize the toys and treats to your dog. I have a dog that doesn't love the tiny soft treats but goes crazy for jerky, so his box now has more jerky treats. And when a box hasn't arrived, they immediately send out a replacement.

Don't know who gets more excited, me or the girls. Great themes, quality toys... even for heavy duty destructors, like my girls. Can't imagine canceling the subscription, at least until they become old farts.

The box itself is great, and our dog loves the toys that come with it. He is definitely an extreme chewer, and they hold up very well. My only complaint is the shipping time. Once the product ships, it's always 2+ weeks for us to actually receive it. The tracking information is very vague, and it seems like it sits in the same place for several days during the shipping process.

Many reviews here address the December shipping disaster. It took me almost two months to get a BarkShop order with shoddy tracking (it was all the shipping partner's fault). BarkShop refunded me immediately which was nice! Then when the package arrived, it was missing the key item (the rest I added on for free shipping). They did give me a complimentary BarkBox to try out in that package though. I worked with customer service over live chat to get the toy sent to me without a shipping charge. I did take a bit to pry it out of them but not every company would do that! The second order arrived in a much more timely fashion which tells me the previous situation was a COVID/Holiday season fluke. All of the toys are of high quality and I'm very happy with them. The experience was a mixed bag but I'd have no problem ordering from BarkBox/Shop again.

Stay away from BarkBox! I ordered a 5 or 6 month gift subscription for my nephew and his wife's pups. They had my credit card on file and charged me for 13 months. What started out as a $149.99 a month subscription ended up at $199.99 a month for 7 additional months. They did refund the final month when I realized what they were doing. Bad Dogs!

I contacted customer service and they responded within a couple of days and took care of my problem which I really appreciate. I wasn’t expecting that at all. As long as they work with their customers in this way, I think they have a great thing going. Many dogs seem to enjoy the treats and toys, in fact I saw a couple of boxes a friend of mine got so I tried it, but my pit bulls are just really finicky. Thank you for your help and support BarkBox!

If you sign up for this please understand that you CANNOT CANCEL your monthly charges or shipments, even if you are unhappy. They do not care. My dogs liked 1 little item out of the whole box. I thought, like every other company that exists, that I could receive a shipment and at least try it for 7 days to find out if the product was good. Definitely not that way with this company. I would have been happy to even pay the following month while I wait for them to stop the charges but they said no, they have to continue charging me for the whole year.
I tried to get my son's dog to eat the smelly treats but she wouldn't either. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. I am going to my bank this weekend to cancel my debit card since I have no other choice. Would have been VERY HAPPY to pay the $25 per month if my dogs liked it - that was why I tried it (or thought I was "trying" it). This is very bad business practice.

Domino absolutely loves her Bark boxes! It has been so hard to find toys that she both likes and can’t destroy in 5 seconds. We are so glad that we heard about y’all! So far her favorite has been the wrench, she carries it everywhere, even to the vets office!

Please do not waste your money on product. Poor customer service. Messaged to cancel several times and still continue to take money. For small dog send toys that bigger than dog. Dog won't eat the nasty treats.

I tried out a 6-month subscription with this company and have yet to receive my first box. It's been over two months since signing up and they sent me an email wondering why they couldn't charge me for the 2nd month's subscription payment. I canceled my card so that they couldn't. They still have not sent out the first box and have been promising to do so countless numbers of times. I believe, whole heartedly that they do not have the consumer in their best interest. Subscribers be aware!

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! There is no human to speak with at their customer service #. I have been fraudulently charged by this company and so has my daughter. We never ordered from this company yet they have fraudulently opened subscriptions for both my daughter and then me 6 months later. This is a total scam!! Beware!

Frankie is a 2 year old rescue that was considered aggressive toward other animals. He is highly anxious around them and just needed love and patience. His favorite day is BARKBOX DAY. I don’t think he ever had toys or treats before us and he loves every toy unconditionally. This company is imaginative & thoughtful about toys and treat. My “Scooby Don’t” Approves!!

I have been very satisfied with the items Gracie receives every month. The shipping is something to be desired, but considering the COVID-19 circumstances, I won't let it affect my rating as a happy customer. I feel the price is quite reasonable for the items included. I do wish I could get toys that do not have squeakers though. The squeakers drive my family crazy.

This box was not Oliver’s favorite. He did not like the toys. Treats were good and he shared with his sister. Would like toys that would work for a bigger dog. However even the Chihuahua did not like the toys.

My pup Otis loves his Bark box! I love their monthly themes and the toys are very durable! I had only 1 issue so far with a toy not lasting and they were quick to replace it! Highly recommend! The pic I shared is a spatula and is Otis’s favorite toy (the theme for that month was BBQ and he also got a toy steak that he loves playing with). The monthly treats are gobbled up and enjoyed as well!

Buddy is a rescue from a Humane Society raid. He really had no idea how to play with toys. He’s small, only 9 lbs. Bigger toys mostly just scare him. The Bark Box toys are a great size for him. He still doesn’t really play with them but he WANTS them. As I’m opening the box he gets really excited. When I toss them in the floor he snatches them up and runs off to the sun room with them. He’s also liked all the various treats. Again, they are a good size for him and I like getting the variety. My only suggestion would be that I wish you’d put either a squeaker or the crinkley stuff but not both. The squeakers don’t work well with the crinkley stuff in there with them. I love getting the Bark Box each month as much as Buddy does!!

Our doggies received BarkBox as a gift, then I sent a BarkBox to our Granddog. She absolutely loved everything in the box every single month! I love making her so happy! There are healthy treats, fun toys, and the pet parents are the ones that get a laugh from the funny toys. Goooo Scooby Doooo!

My dogs always look forward to their box arriving every month but this month Bella’s box was shipped out on July 9th but has yet to arrive. I also have a subscription for Winston which I haven’t had a problem with. Other than that everything else has been good.

I have found that all the Bark Boxes I have received are great. I originally started with the super chewer boxes and found that they were more than my girls could handle, so I requested to receive the original box and I could not be happier. The bags of treats are great and when they say that they are made with peanut butter you can smell peanut butter when you open the bag. If you buy a bag of treats anyplace else you do not smell peanut butter when you open the bag. My girls love all of the treats I have received so far. Thank you for having a great product that dogs love.
