I have been a long time user of Groupon and didn't have any issues until today. I saw at the bottom of the page a button about Groupon Select. It said it was $4.99/month and you'd get 25% off Groupon local deals. I thought it was interesting so I clicked it. A pop-up appeared asking if I wanted to join. I thought it would take me to a page that would add this subscription to a cart or something but nope, once you click yes, you're subscribed. And you're subscribed for 6 MONTHS and you CANNOT BACK OUT. They will not let you cancel the contract, even if it was a mistake, even if you haven't used the benefit, even if you let them know less than 3 minutes after you subscribed that you want out.
It's clearly designed to trick people into joining because they know anyone with any brains would never join this subscription otherwise. Now I have to pay them for 6 months for something I do not want and will not use. Their customer service is useless. Groupon is shady AF. Once I'm done with this 6 months, I'm never using them again.

I decided to not use Sunray BP auto service after getting a quote and cannot get a Groupon refund. I got the quote late Friday, read it over the weekend and the vendor wished me well and Groupon has no prompt or method to get my 60 bucks back. On Groupon website 4 times now and just get nonworking screen and apps to buy more stuff. NEVER BUY GROUPON SERVICES - YOU WON'T GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH OR A REFUND IF YOU OPT OUT.

Updated on 12/30/2018: After several "chat sessions" with Groupon I'm still waiting for my refund and for my package to be tracked. I do know from the carrier's tracking that Groupon received my return on 12/24, however it is not in the system for a refund. I am filing a complaint with Missouri's Attorney Generals office and the BBB. This company sends out defective/faulty merchandise then makes returns next to impossible.
Original review: After finally receiving my Dell Latitude Pro, I opened the box (curiously a USPS box turned inside out but mailed through UPS). There was no receipt, no manual. I soon learned that it was not refurbished but had all of the previous owner's files AND was locked. I took it to a computer shop and was told to return it since it was totally useless to me at this point. I am partially blind and have mobility issues and had to spend more money on transportation to print a return label and drop it off at UPS. The only Customer Service Groupon has is Live Chat. Pretty much useless. I've tried to track my package with UPS after 4 days and it doesn't appear to be in the system yet. This has been a very stressful, time-consuming and costly experience. I had to spend money on another computer and will be very surprised if I receive a refund. I will NEVER use Groupon again. Buyer beware!

While I don't necessarily have a problem with Groupon products or services or even their customer service team. What I DO have a problem with is actually reaching their customer Service support team, especially while at the vendor. I had an issue today redeeming a massage (which was a gift for my sister) There was NO phone number to contact Groupon for support. I ended up having to buy another Groupon (at a higher price since I originally purchased the gift with a sale price).
It was extremely stressful. I finally (at 10 pm) found a way to contact their support team (via live chat). I received a refund and credit for the additional amount I paid for the massage so the end result is what I stated at the beginning - I don't have a problem with Groupon products or services or even their customer service team, just their lack of a phone number to contact them. Groupon needs to have a way to contact them immediately and not via chat, email or a callback. They USED to have a contact number on all their vouchers... Why did they delete it? It has only caused problems for their customers.

I have purchased four Groupons in the past two years and will never purchase another one. The first issue I had was when I purchased a Groupon for a mother's ring back in January of 2016. When I went to redeem my Groupon the item I had purchased it for was listed as "out of stock" on the vendor's website and remained out of stock until after my Groupon expired. When I initially contact Groupon about the item being out of stock, they advised I wait for it to come back in stock. When I contacted them after my Groupon expired, they told me there was nothing they could do because the Groupon had expired.
Fast forward to November of this year (2018). I purchased a Groupon for customized sketch books for my children for Christmas on November 9, 2018. I used it within an hour of purchasing the Groupon on the Qualtry website to order my three items. Everything seemed to go fine, except by December 2, 2018 my order was still showing as "processing". Customer service told me my order wouldn't be fulfilled until 'around Christmas' as they did not have the materials to produce my order. I contacted Groupon customer support about their vendor failing to provide. They told me that since I had used the Groupon that I had purchased, it was between we and the vendor. It is now December 21st, I have received one of the three sketch books ordered, but the vendor is claiming that all three were sent.
In short, if you are going to purchase a Groupon, be sure to not purchase anything that cost more than you are willing to write off as a loss because if the vendor fails to provide the product, Groupon will tell you it isn't their problem and there is nothing they can do for you (and still sell the Groupon deal in question after you have reported that the vendor is failing to provide).

I ordered 2 tickets to a comedy show and immediately realized I made a mistake and could not make the date. I had read the fine print prior to making my purchase and knew that nowhere did it state anything about all sales being final. I double checked prior to jumping through loopholes to get in contact with someone about canceling. It took several days before anyone got back into contact with me and during those days, I kept checking and reading everything to make sure I was able to even receive a refund.
Lo and behold, they contacted me this morning to tell me I could not receive a refund because it stated "all sales are final" in the fine print. I checked and somehow in all capital letters it magically appeared "ALL SALES ARE FINAL". I am 100% sure that it did not state that when I made my purchase. Nor did it state that for days after as I had checked several times. It was added later. Like I would not have seen that statement being just the 2nd sentence in the fine print AND in all caps.
I call fraud! I am a small business owner that sells online and I know the process of it all. I know to double check fine print and to read everything! I know I was scammed out of my money. I would have taken a screenshot when I made the initial purchase of the fine print had I known Groupon was so shady. That's what I get for trusting them. I will never order from Groupon again nor will I ever be a vendor for them again if this is the way they treat their consumers!

I purchased a spa package for my sister's birthday based on the many positive reviews on the Groupon site. These reviews must be automatically fabricated as part of the site's advertising policies as the location in question was entirely non-existent. Not only did I waste my time and money (had to drive quite a distance to the supposed location), but my sister's birthday activity was altogether ruined. How can Groupon advertise a product/service that is non-operational? On top of that, I have yet to hear back from their customer service representatives considering they have NO phone number nor any means other than e-mail to remedy an issue. Whether I will ever see a refund remains to be seen. I will be deleting the app and will advocate others to do the same.

And now I can't cancel for 6 months! I finally figured out how to chat with someone and of course she can't help me but assures me I can get some great deals! I will file a complaint with my CC company and the BBB but I'll be surprised if it helps. What a joke.

Be aware. Buying goods on Groupon is like playing a lottery. I bought several items on December 7, 2018 thinking they will be good last-minute Christmas gifts. 1) Lumirance Neo-Gold Retinol Serum arrived in half smashed and completely ruined original box. Obviously, it didn’t happen due to the reckless shipping process because the shipping box was big and intact. What it means that they packed the defective item. OK. I left it for myself though I still need a gift. 2) Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor arrived yesterday. This item arrived with the top plastic cover cut open (almost completely separated from the rest of the original packaging). What would be a logical thing to do in this case? Yes, to return the item and get a refund or a brand-new exchange. Good luck with that.
3) I am trying to return the Leo Rosi Women’s Tunic, which I got on December 13, 2018 because it doesn’t fit right. Though the fine print states “free return”, they give you run-around. Clicking on “Return Package” link brings you to the page with a message: “Oops! Groupon Goods is temporarily unavailable or overloaded. Please try again in a few minutes. For more information, please visit FAQ.” I see this message since last Friday (Dec 14) when I attempted to return this tunic for the first time. When I clicked to Contact Customer Support on the My Order page and then to Continue With This Order, I got another message: “Unfortunately, we aren't able to accept a return for this item. Our records show that either more than 30 days have passed since you received this item, or the Fine Print indicated the item was not returnable.” Neither of the statements is true. I received this item just a day before, and the Fine Print states Free Return.
On Monday, I finally found the way to send them an email. I received an automated response saying that I would be contacted within 24 hours. On Tuesday, after 24 hours were over, I got another automated email saying that they were very sorry that I hadn’t been contacted yet and thanking me for my patience. I haven’t heard from them since then, but I am sure it will be another “we are sorry” email. The bottom line, if you like a lottery, you may try Groupon Goods. But I agree with many other reviewers that the company is an absolute joke.

Groupon claims you will never lose your purchase price on expired vouchers. Filoli refused to honor this policy and denied my using 2 $20 purchase price vouchers which were originally for 2 adult admissions each. When I presented them to use towards 7 adult tickets at $35 each, they told me they don't accept "coupons". Groupon said there was nothing they could do because the vouchers were expired and made no effort to intervene on my behalf with the merchant that refused to honor the no loss policy that Groupon claims.

I purchased a stay through Groupon at the Sea Beach Resort. There was no notice of a down payment for security deposit. After they collected my money. I went to the hotel to check in. The rude Personnel at the front told me that I must pay to check in. I replied that I paid through Groupon online and the rude personnel said, "Well it's our rule that we have to have that for security deposit." I said, "Well they did not have a security disclosure online and the money I have left is for food and supplies." He said, "Well you can't check in unless I get the security deposit." Just rude and no good customer service. I said, "So what about the purchase I made." The rude personnel said, "That had nothing to do with us. Contact Groupon. They have to give you a refund because it's a valid reason." I called Groupon in which an expected 2-4 mins turned into 38 plus minutes of wait time.
To give info to one agent to be transferred to another for another 10 minute wait time. Then when I explain the issue I get the same script they used for all call centers when they don't wanna help you. I know because I have worked at call centers and it's all the same training. I was given a ticket number and told 24-48 hours. It's been more than that and still no refund, no call, no email. I'm pissed off because this is a scam. Between Sea Beach Resort and Groupon. It is a scam. For even the Groupon rep tell me that they didn't know Sea Beach Resort charge security deposit, which makes no bloody sense.
I'm Upset and I wonder why aren't these brands and hotel under investigation? Since as I can see. I am not the only one with these complaints? Brought four cookers that was on sale and addition to some children toys. The items were purchased as Christmas gift. No option to ship to multiple location, however I still wanted to place the order. I had no problem with all of the items being shipped directly to me. I attempted to contact customer service, by their poorly designed website, three minutes after the order was placed, because I received a message that I could not change shipping, when I went through the "edit" feature. I submitted my question online, asking if I could edit the shipping for one of the items. I received an automatic message that I would receive a response within 24-hours. Forty-nine hours later, I received an e-mail that my entire order had been canceled, and I would receive some Groupon bucks that I could use on a future order.
I attempted to reorder the items, but the 40% sale was had ended, so the cart total was nearly doubled. I contact Groupon nine time since, at both listed numbers (888) 664-4482 & (312) 676-5773 and via e-mail, but no response. The chat support system on the site reports that no customer service rep is available. This has been prevalent throughout the entire ordeal. So now I'm stuck with $439.92 of Groupon bucks, but I still have to pay the credit card that I used off to avoid interest. Groupon may have gotten too big. They used to be customer oriented. Now, you cannot reach them and the services they have are not good. I could not reach the company that was to provide a massage. When the time was running out, Groupon said I could trade it in but gave 24 hours or so to choose a replacement. Life is too busy for a 24 hour turnaround especially if they have "nothing" that one wants then. But to add insult to injury, Groupon stopped the trade BUT ALSO MARKED MY GROUPON AS REDEEMED. Considering my complaint that I could not reach the company to get the massage and then Groupon marks it redeemed? I used to tell people to use Groupon. NOW I TELL PEOPLE NOT TO USE THEM. Also, a couple of the companies that are selling through Groupon have complained to me. They do not get the services they should have either.

My experience with Groupon has been varied and I've wasted quite a bit of money on this site. There was a time early on where you could actually call to report a problem but now you have to email them & perhaps you'll get a response. I erased the app & have opted out of using it since I have found most of their goods are junk. A fitness watch that didn't work & when I wanted to return it, they said I couldn't & to keep trying it'll work. Never did. A painted plaque of a fairy showed up with an ungodly countenance that I found frightening actually, again no dice.
My most recent experience took the cake. Upon their invitation, I was given a credit from another purchase in order to use those funds for something else. I only had 24 hours. So I went to buy something. It was a Christmas image that lit up. Well something went wrong with that transaction & I received an email stating so & that my credit was once again available, so I attempted another purchase only to find out the next day they charged me for both items, meaning my credit was absorbed and now I was also charged full price for the second item. Not what I was expecting. So you can't call anymore, so I went onto the website and emailed them regarding this error.
I get a response eventually stating I only had 2 hours from time of purchase to cancel items. The policy prior had pretty much been 24 hours. The items hadn't even shipped yet. They said I'd have to return it. I only received one of the items and the other was lost somehow because I checked several times to no avail. I returned the item that was received and here I am over two weeks later without any refund given and the ability to communicate regarding this issue is blocked. They just shut me down and I'm out $50. I feel customer service is essential and a missing ingredient in many businesses today, Groupon makes it clear that the customer does not come first. Having no recourse is why I'm issuing this warning. Buyer beware.

I'd purchased a Groupon voucher for bowling for two. What I've learned about the Groupon vouchers is that, despite the long windows for using the vouchers, the restrictions make them inconvenient for busy people with tight schedules to use during the times permitted. For example, this voucher couldn't be used on Saturdays after 6pm. Therefore, I couldn't coordinate the time with my friend to use it. They refunded in the form of Groupon bucks. I didn't see an item that I wanted, so purchased a food voucher. But, it could only be used for lunch on Wednesdays through Thursdays.
Once again, these time restrictions were going to make it impossible for me to use it, so I decided it would be too much trouble and just requested a refund. At first I was told that the money had been refunded to me and when I saw it would depend upon how soon my financial institution would take to process. I waited a week an inquired again. Was told the refund was processed. But it was in the form of Groupon bucks. Today, I requested again today that my refund be returned to my account and stated that I don't want the Groupon bucks. I don't want to use them to purchase an item I don't need or want just to use them. I got a response confirming the Groupon bucks. I just want my money back, and then I won't bother Groupon again.

Second, once I connected with chat, they gave me the link to see my tracking number. Then, they gave me the phone number for FedEx customer service. Groupon won't supply me phone number of shipper and won't connect me to anyone higher up to have issue resolved. Shipper seems to be a mystery company. I did this prior to dates that this event was even open. Now I am given the runaround and still no live person to talk to. The website is a joke and not user friendly as I'm sure that is what they want so that customers get tired of trying to resolve issues. It would be nice and Groupon would get more positive reviews if they would work with their customers rather than pass the buck and leave us with empty hands. So very very disappointed in their customer service department, contact information and process to resolve issues. Groupon you can do better.

I tried to get a subscription to the Raleigh Observer. First I tried to pay with Paypal. That was a payment option on the checkout page. Paypal confirmed the order. Then I was sent an email from Groupon that the payment couldn't go through. I waited 2 weeks and tried again. Once again I got an email saying there was a problem with the payment. While trying to figure out what was wrong I saw that I needed a card on file. (I usually don't put cards on file. That's why I use Paypal.) I filled in all the info for my card and reordered the paper.
Once again I got a message that there was something wrong with the payment. I tried to email them but they automatically sent me to FAQs. I finally tried the live chat. Before I could get an answer from him I was given a spell about promos, and was told he would send me an email and to look for them in the future. All he did was ask me for my card details and state he would send it to the group and send me an email with the results. My neighbor got the same newspaper deal. Wish I had talked to her first. She stated that she waited about a week and then had to contact them, before receiving her paper. Turns out she has a review on here also. Hopefully I will get the paper and not have my card compromised.

And then when I asked to be transferred to someone else he told me there wasn’t any transferring. I would have to start all over. The way he talked to me was just awful. After finding out, we requested to Terminate our Contract in writing and even though they are supposed to terminate it after 7 business days, it has been 20 days and our promotion is still active. When I went to pay for it through PayPal, the transaction completed, and then... it brought me to GROUPON'S site to view/redeem the voucher. OMG... this is beyond insane. Who knew that LivingSocial is Groupon in disguise?? When I called LivingSocial's ''customer service'' number, guess who it went to? That is all the proof I need! I am trying to get this charge reversed, and then I will be reporting Groupon to the BBB.

I bought a Groupon for $99.00 for a restaurant in Houston area. The restaurant closed its doors and went out of business. According to the Groupon's policy, I should be able to get credit for any Groupon that I cannot get in touch with the merchant or redeem my value. However, they do not have an operator to answer my calls and they do not respond to my repeated e-mails. I think they want to cheat me out of my money. Very dishonest company. I hope they go out of business.

Groupon offers "Groupon Select" which promises further discounts. It costs $4.99 a month but you cannot cancel until you have paid for 6 months. Most offers such as this will give you a free trial period and choice to keep or cancel but this does not. I checked join in my cart thinking I would get the 25% discount and pay for Groupon Select together with my cart during check out.
I was surprised that the second I checked the join box it does not give you the option of unchecking it (What if you hit that button by accident?) I was joined right then. I also only received 10% discount on the item I was going to purchase. I did not buy the item and tried to reach Groupon to cancel their Groupon Select. There is no customer service phone number but I found live chat. They would not cancel my Groupon Select when I only joined within 5 mins of chatting with them tricking me into joining. I wanted to cancel because they did not give the amount of discount promised in writing on their website. I think any website that does not offer customer service by phone is shady. I will now ban groupon because they are difficult to work with and possibly not trustworthy.

I purchased a new car on 9/28/18 and immediately open Groupon to order a blanket to cover my back seat since I have four dogs. The information said the item would be shipped in 2-3 days. I needed the item by 10/24. The money was withdrawn from my bank account right away but I never received the item. When I contacted Groupon by chat, they told me I needed to contact the vendor. I contacted the vendor who originally said that they shipped my item. When I continued on that I had not received my item the vendor again told me my item had been delivered. I informed the vendor that I had not received my item they said that I switched the address for it to be shipped to.
When I told them I had not done that asked for the tracking number they refused to give it saying it was on my Groupon order page (it was not). When I pressed them they sent me the tracking information and name and address of another person in another state. The vendor then said they don’t see an order for me. My Groupon screen shows it was ordered hut never shipped. I don’t know where the problem lies but my guess is the break down is with Groupon. I can’t even find where the chat is now. I have little confidence I will receive the item or a refund. I have to go purchase the blanket as it won’t arrive by the date I need it even IF it gets shipped. I will never use Groupon again. I don’t need the added frustration.

I had fraudulent charges someone placed using my debit card. They did not use my Groupon account or my email address but just my debit card. When I tried to get help, I learned there is no phone number you can call. You have to fill out a form and wait for them to call you, which does not work well if you have a lunch break and limited time to wait around for a call. They also have a form or email for email response but when the customer service reps responded, they were basically useless.
I also had fraudulent charges placed with "Door Dash," another business, and Door Dash immediately asked intelligent questions and took my card information, billing address, etc. and submitted it to an investigation team. The Groupon customer service reps acted super friendly but could not assist intelligently after four tries. I would never order anything from Groupon again. So in this case we won't be able to issue a refund, but I want you to know that I'm going to share your feedback with the appropriate parties to prevent something like this from happening again."
Pretty much Groupon made me pay 25$ for a $20 discount and told me that's unfortunate we don't offer reimbursement because the merchant used the $20 coupon. Keep in mind that the Groupon wasn't for a specific discount it was for a service package. 10/10 will never use again, is pretty much a scam that pits you between the merchant and Groupon with each saying it isn't their fault. This incident actually happened a little over 3 years ago, but I just found this site today and must give my comments. I ordered a king size Beauty Rest mattress with low profile box springs (the box springs come 2 per set). Since my bed sits fairly high and the mattress is a very thick mattress, I did not want the mattress to be sitting up too high, thus I ordered low profile. I received the mattress and box springs; however, one box spring was low profile, as I ordered, and the other box spring was high profile, making it a mismatched set. The guy who delivered the items said he had to leave both box springs and that he could not return any part of the shipment, so I signed for it. After that, I continued to try to resolve the situation with Customer Service for several weeks with NO HELP WHATSOEVER. All they would say is that I could return it for refund.
I tried to explain to them that I did not want to return the entire order. I was already using the mattress with my old box springs set, as the delivery guys had taken away my old mattress. I had no way to ship back the wrong piece (one-half of the box springs), and I needed a return shipping label and pick up of the box springs being returned. Most of the customer service reps were from other countries and somehow did not understand what I was explaining. I wrote a letter with a photo of the box springs to the CEO of Groupon at an address I found online. I got no response. I had received the goods in April and was moving out of my home in June to live in an apartment with my daughter while awaiting the construction of a new home.
The king size bed with mattress and box springs would be going to storage for a few months. No matter how hard I tried to explain it, the customer service people had no idea what to do. The answer was always the same, that I could return the order. How did they think I was going to return a king size mattress and set of two box springs? Eventually, I gave up, and the mismatched box springs were later given to charity. I never got a partial refund or any resolution on this incorrect order.
My advice is, don't order any large items from Groupon that have to be delivered and put up or installed by the delivery guys. If you have any problem with the order, you will NEVER FIND ANYONE TO HELP YOU. I would steer away from ordering anything other than a service or fee to go to or attend something local. Be sure the services are available in your area, such as tanning or beauty services. I would also avoid any restaurant coupons unless you have previously eaten at the restaurant and are sure it is a good deal. I also purchased a meal deal for two at a Brazilian Steak House. The restaurant was very plain with no class and no atmosphere. In fact, I had never heard of the place before buying the coupon. We were not impressed with the meal and will never go there again. The quality of food was not worth the price.
You may get a lesser price with Groupon, but consider whether you REALLY NEED that dinner coupon, or need the beauty services, tanning deal, or whatever it is. This may not be the right time to purchase it. You may find just as good a deal by asking the servicer what specials they have or by spending a bit more to go to a quality restaurant.

I contacted customer service to just guide me on the process of returning the item, which I know some sites request the item back, she mentioned “No need to return the item, just throw it away and we can refund you the money.” I said not a problem. She asked for my last 4 numbers of my debit and said “it shows that it is declined, are you sure it was charged?” I said “I can assure you for a fact it was charged as soon as I clicked “confirm order” so there is no way it was declined when the product is sitting right in front of me. If it were declined I wouldn’t have gotten a purchase confirmation email nor product from you guys.”
She placed me on hold after she asked me to screenshot my phone on where it was charged to support@groupon.com and I told her Not a problem. "I can even send you a screenshot of the confirmation order, tracking order, purchase date AND picture of the opened product if you’re believing I’m trying to “scam” you." She received my screenshot and said “Are you Sure it was charged because it has a negative before the amount.” You guys, I seriously paused for a second and thought how STUPID can you be.
I said “Excuse me but I'm pretty sure I know how my debit card works and I can assure you it was taken out 5 days ago when I made the purchase, so please do me the favor and refund me the amount back to my card not Groupon credit because I am not reordering the same product to go through the same problem I’m having now”. Placed me on hold again and the last thing she said was that I should receive a call from them telling me my refund status, which I didn’t, I only got an email saying that it’ll get refunded and if I don’t see anything within 10 days I’ll have to contact my bank. I am 78 years old and this is not right... so I sent gifts, I thought for 3 years costing me 75.00 each year for a total of 225.00 and they never got them. This company is making millions cheating their customers. When I call Groupon they said I had 24 hours time frame to request a refund. What a disgraceful company.

My first and last experience with Groupon was very frustrating. The website was confusing and sent me back and forth several times with a very short time deadline that cut me off more than once. Then when I used the voucher at the theater, I was still charged full price! I will not be using Groupon any time soon.

This is about Groupon and their false advertisement, making up policies on the fly, breaking federal law, not following their original policy as they stated, and reneging on their contract with their customer. I called Groupon recently because I had some old vouchers I wanted to use at a local Greek place. However, when I arrived there, the place had closed down.
In the past, Groupon would issue a refund of the purchase price for the vouchers when a business closed. This was the policy as of even a few months ago in 2017 - and it makes sense as Groupon states all over their site that you can 'still use the value you paid for the Groupon from now until ETERNITY'. However, if the business is closed it makes sense that Groupon will honor the voucher by giving you Group credit. That is what they used to do. FURTHER, this is required by FEDERAL LAW which states that vouchers cannot expire.
So I called Groupon and they stated that no matter what, even with the reasoning above, they would only give me 50% of each voucher. I let them know that this was not right, was against the original contract with the customer, was against their advertisement, and was against federal law (which states that vouchers don't expire--including 50% of the vouchers). I spoke to 3 different reps and a supervisor to make sure that this is what Groupon wanted to do - to betray their customers - and they stated that policy stated that you have to call a year after the Groupon expires for restitution. This is fake and made up non-policy on the fly - and I know this because this was not policy as of just months ago.
Also, how can I contact Groupon about vouchers that are expired when I can still use them at the restaurant - per the contract I have with Groupon?? The place would have to close first before I ask for a refund. So it's a catch-22 policy by Groupon, who seem to not give a ** anymore. I was extremely dissatisfied and surprised at this company, which once prided itself on customer service. People need to know that this is NOT the same company. Making up policy and being dishonest is a bad look and they don't care.

I purchase (2) Groupons for a Hot Air Balloon service. Anyone who knows Hot Air Balloons knows that scheduling a ride can be difficult based on weather, timing, etc. Combined with the fact that the location was 4.5 hours from me, it was difficult to get accommodated. The Groupon Expired, but on the website Groupon says I can use the amount at the company of $125 per Groupon at the company "from now till eternity". What reason do I have to call. I can still use the Groupon, except that the company went out of business and Groupon says since it expired, they will not refund me the "full" amount.
They are keeping $125 of my $250 for the Groupons. NO ifs, ands or buts. So they led me to believe I still had the full value, but in fact I did not. The representative kept telling me I should have contacted them prior to the expiration. I didn't think I needed to since they said the company would still honor it. Buyer beware... Groupon did not do the right thing. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. I feel like Groupon stole $125 from me by misleading me.

I booked 3 reservations to the Caravelle Resort in Myrtle Beach. Each was $207, but Groupon charged me $80 more for each for an "occupancy tax." After we visited the Caravelle, we received the bill, and we were only charged $233. There was no occupancy tax of $80. I requested a $54 refund for each reservation from Groupon, and they refused, revising their original explanation of what the $80 overcharge was for. Instead of "occupancy tax," this time, they said it was for "fees." We were overcharged a total of $162 for the 3 reservations.
I was not issued a refund, so I complained to the Better Business Bureau, and I am leaving my review here as well. I will no longer be using Groupon at all - will cancel my account as a result of this horrible experience. Customer service could not even spell "occupancy tax." They spelled it "ocuppence." I have been looking through Groupon goods a lot lately and I am ASTONISHED by what I have uncovered. I recently saw a BabyBjorn Bouncer for $299. It said on the product listing $679.99 which was crossed out and then selling for $299. It specifically states that it is a 41% discount. I did a quick search on several other websites including Amazon, Target and Buy Buy Baby and no one has this product selling for more than $219. I contacted Groupon customer service and their response to me was that they can't control what their merchants list their items for.
Here's the thing: I don't have a problem with them selling this product at a price that is higher than market value. That is their right. I have a problem with Groupon posing as some sort of deal page and allowing their sellers to put a fake original price number in it to make it appear as if the buyer is receiving a heavy discount. That is extremely misleading! Another example, a box of Pampers wipes... 448 count. "Original price" is $50.95 with a cross through it and the sale price is $14.95. Being a Groupon merchant, I can attest that we have issues with Groupon as well. Signing a contract with Groupon is like signing a contract with the Devil. If you offer a service, such as I do they try to tell you that you cannot charge the remainder of a service minus the Groupon price paid. In other words, you are held hostage to providing the service for however long it takes for the purchaser to call and secure an appointment without charging a remainder fee for going way past the expiration date. So I am held accountable 5 years from now to offer the service for the price of the Groupon and no more. Last time I checked, I work for me not Groupon. After an expiration date if a purchaser calls to make an appointment they will be charged for a full service minus what they paid for the Groupon. That is more than fair.
Not to mention how incredibly rude some Groupon purchasers/customers are when calling for an appointment. They call you all hours of the day, 6 am, 12am... etc. They text you, which is not part of the Groupon protocol. It states on each Groupon you must call. Not bombard merchants with calls at unacceptable times, texts or invading their Facebook page. This is a nightmare. Do you see there is another side to this Groupon debacle. Bottom line: Groupons only concern is to get the money of the purchaser and their own profit. The merchant is no more than a puppet at the mercy of unacceptable rules and regulations that they dream up and try to shove down the merchant's throat. The last addendum to their contract stated we have the right to update and change the contract without your permission or approval. What??!!
The purchaser/customer is treated to an A.I. approach to goods and services purchased and handle complaints and refunds in the same manner. No more person to person resolution. This is how Groupon models the customer service approach? Groupon is a monster now... it’s grown out of control because of its growth. Do yourself a favor and boycott these corporate weasels. Let’s bond together and take the wind out of their sails. They’ll have no power to manipulate the customer and his/her experience again. My only question is, who do these people think they are? I have ended my business with this luciferian business.

When we were unable to use it, (after the three day expiry time), I contacted them to ask about a refund, of course, they touted the three-day rule, I then said I would be happy to take an exchange or credit instead. No way would they do this, they didn't even discuss this with me. The worst part was that during the last part of our discussion on chat, she hung up on me while I was still typing a reply. DO NOT USE GROUPON! You will get burned sooner or later.

I would strongly urge people to avoid using Groupon at all costs. After my experience and that of others I’m reading here, it’s apparent Groupon often takes people’s money without delivering and then use their “terms and conditions” to get out of any refunds. In short I bought a voucher good for 2 Pogo city passes. I followed Groupon’s directions to redeem the voucher, but only one pass showed. I went back to Groupon and noticed another pass in my cart and figured that was the 2nd pass. When I pressed redeem, it brought me to the correct 2 Passes I needed. I now had 3 passes, although had only bought 2. I went back to cancel my pass and noticed ANOTHER voucher had been placed in my cart. At this point I realised their error and deleted this pass.
I wrote to them many times to say I wanted my money back for the original additional pass they had added to my cart but they have refused to do this. They have further refused to give me the correct two-pass voucher that I supposedly bought. This means I am stuck with a voucher I haven’t ordered, but they have made me pay for, and doesn’t even give me what is paid for. I know this sounds confusing. Believe me, I was confused trying to sort it out on my end too! Unfortunately they took advantage of this and have still charged me $80 extra and I don’t even get to have the correct voucher.
I have now written to them stating I will accept they won’t refund my money (although I’m not happy about this as it was their fault) but would like them to provide me with the 2 vouchers as the voucher only gives me 1. They have refused many times to do this no matter how much I explain their second error. It’s a frustrating circle and I will not ever use Groupon again, choosing other similar services with better customer service who don’t try to cheat their customers.

This company is a thief and steals your money. Don't buy any product or service through this website, because if something goes wrong there would be no resolution for your problem. Someone used my credit card and I saw the charge on my checking account and I tried so many times to get someone to help me from this company. This company has no actual phone number that you can contact them directly and you have to request a phone call which they may or may not call you the same day.
In 4 months of trying, with emails including the picture of transaction and requests of phone calls, finally I was able to talk to them only 3 times make. and my answer was that this is a purchase with one of their accounts and that can not be resolved and refund cannot be granted. Don't use this service, there is a reason that they only have one star here, if there was a choice to give zero star and a thumb down option I would rather to chose that instead. Please be careful what you signing for.

I purchased a Groupon City Explorer pass for Chicago. 2 adults and 1 child for $187. I redeemed these with the merchant and was ready to go. When I go to Chicago I had difficulty using it. At the venues where we tried to use it. They said they had had difficulties with other Groupon purchases of explorer passes. I rang the merchant and they checked out the pass and said that Groupon had sold us an expired pass. When I contacted Groupon I could not call them but over a chat online they said they couldn't help and they would escalate it and get back to me in 3 days. They are now offering me a credit which I have to use on a Groupon product by 22nd August. Given this is a mis-sold product that I could not use I am shocked that I cannot be refunded the full amount. It seems like a scam to me. I urge you not to purchase through Groupon as they have stolen my money.

Groupon is a scam. The merchandise they sell is cheap looking. I ordered three items of clothing, look nothing like the picture, cheap stitching, colors different, sizing is made for Asian builds, the dress I ordered ripped down the middle out of nowhere because it's so cheap. Trying to contact customer service is a joke-hung up on; chat disconnected, no contact number for the clothing manufacturers. - SCAM. DO NOT BUY FROM GROUPON.

My friend and I recently purchased rooms for Niagara Falls - Groupon had the room listed as Wyndham Garden Niagara Falls Fallsview, along with a picture of the falls. We purchased the voucher for 2 nights, believing we were getting a great deal... no... the hotel was 1-2 stars and had a view of the parking lot along with some heavy equipment, dingy and old rooms and furniture. Certainly not what we expected for a romantic getaway. AND, NO FALLS VIEW - apparently, the room is in Fallsview, Niagara Falls - so much for transparency! We were completely misled. This is one of two situations we experienced this trip with Groupon Getaways... misleading advertising and watch out for the "FINE" print... (First time - Last time)
Also, the reservations take time in their "System", so when we called the hotel to confirm our reservation, which was for the following day, we were told by the hotel that they had no record of the reservation, so we booked another room, assuming it was a snafu with our credit cards... so, now, we had 2 rooms each, neither reservation shows up at the hotel front desk for verification... Groupon refuses to give back our money for the room, I only needed one room, but I had to pay for two rooms for the same night in the same city.
NEVER AGAIN... I was once a fan of Groupon - now - with the difficulty you have contacting them... try to negotiate the website... it seems to change on a daily basis. Then you wait forever to get contact from a supervisor, which is also via email or chat. What's Up Groupon. NEVER AGAIN. I noticed a change with Groupon in the past year. Prior to this, they seemed to be a well-run company with fair policies. Apparently they have had a change of heart... too bad. I will be in touch with Corporate tomorrow to bring my complaints to a higher level.

I am never buying a Groupon ever again. Worse experience ever. Bought a Groupon for a wine tour in BC which cost over $300.00. Called the company itself to ask if they needed anything from me and they were surprised as they no longer do Groupons or even do wine tours from the town I booked for. So I contacted Groupon. They tell me that they will get back to me on a certain day with a resolution to my problem. Two days after said day, I still haven't heard anything. When I contact them again they tell me they asked for time. Which I then tell them yes and it's now been two extra days from the time you told me. To then get an email saying, "Sorry but we will not reimburse you because the ticket said it was nonrefundable". I spent over 300 dollars on this ticket. So I asked that a manager phone me which no one phoned.
So you tell me that there is a disconnect between Groupon and said company, nothing I did wrong on my end but I'm punished and out of funds because the fine print said no refunds? I can understand this if I'm cancelling but that is not the case. The event I bought does not exist. Called said company again to tell them I bought a Groupon for them and they were amazing. Apologized for the bad experience I had, due to Groupon. They told me they had talked to Groupon and asked that I get refunded as they had no idea Groupon was selling some of their tours... I told them that's funny cause Groupon will not refund me at all. So the company will give me a wine tour. Though I now have to drive 60 km from the town I'll be vacationing at.

Click on the status still showing that my is order 'being processed'. Contact Groupon Customer Support once through online chat and told that a specialist will handle my case and let me know about it. It has been three days and don't heard anything from Groupon. Told them that I will be on vacation and needs a confirmed date so that I can be sure that we have somebody around to receive the item, but no luck to get any information from Groupon. First of all they rip off the business owners by keeping half of the Groupon amount that is advertised. Secondly I had a problem recently where I was getting random texts for "consumers" wanting my painting services. The addresses I was given were for homes that were recently put on the MLS, or abandoned. All the requests were out of state spoof numbers that asked if I accepted credit cards and were always in the hospital with some illness, and couldn't meet me in person . I had 15 of these in a week.
I brought it to Groupon's attention and they did nothing, I escalated for several days and finally got the Groupon cancelled and my information removed. No apologies I was told to just calm down... and to make sure I honored the Groupon vouchers that were already purchased. Not one was ever purchased in three years. For giving this company half my money the marketing and ads were very substandard, and generated a whole lot of nothing for my business. Stay away from this company if you are any kind of business owner.

My wife and I went to a Groupon listed restaurant today, and experienced a "Bait & Switch" for menu prices/almost double from the web menu site. We told Groupon, and they agreed to refund the $$ spent on the voucher. Later in the conversation, the refund was "reworded" to say, "You will have a credit to apply to future purchases." Not what was agreed. The CS Manager was helpful but not able to override the computer, and now I am stuck with money on the account that I am forced to spend on another Groupon product. The Groupon policies are too strict, the restaurants are not cooperative, and the customer gets the short end of the stick. We will be closing our account. BE FOREWARNED!!! DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR ADVERTISING. They do not deliver as promised.

Groupon Used to be great. Not anymore! I’ve been a Groupon freak since its inception many years ago. I was an avid fan, buying multiple coupons every week for just about every type of deal offered. It was a fantastic way to get established in a new area after a move. How far it has fallen. Customer service is nonexistent. There is no 800-number or effective live chat anymore. Customer support used to be front and center. That’s done. I have friends that post deals on Groupon for their business and they have just as much trouble on that end as the people buying the deals. I also noticed the quality of some of the products shipped from the goods category are subpar at best. It’s just not worth the gamble.
Call the vendor directly and they will usually give you the deal, matching Groupon's price without having to deal with them. It’s so sad - they are a horrible company now. They are just surfing on their reputation from the past. It will probably squeeze everything out of the company they can before it’s garbage. The search result information is shotty and sometimes you could end up buying a deal hours away from the search location entered.
It is very easy to buy a deal outside of your area of interest without knowing. You might be unfortunate enough to have purchased a large ticket item, like a destination adventure or vacation package. If you have any issues with your purchase it will take you a long time to get support. If you get to this point at all, you may get offered Groupon bucks in exchange. Great, hundreds of dollars worth of Groupon bucks to buy more crappy deals and get more crappy customer service. I did this in preparation for a trip to Hawaii and it was a disaster. Type in Maui to search for deals in that area and see what pops up.

Don't fall into that trap of the Groupon deals, once they take your money your on your own, you may not be able to redeem your voucher. Anything goes wrong with the company from which you should get the service from, they are going to tell you to contact Groupon to get your refund, and you're not going to be able to speak to nobody in Groupon because their customer service is basically nonexistent, some deals work and you have no problems but a lot of them don't and your money is going to be in limbo. Stop Groupon from fooling people. Don't let them fool you!

Will never purchase Groupon Goods again. I purchased a Groupon Good for the first time in years, and after placing my order I realized that there was a very old mailing address listed in my account. I attempted to contact customer service that night with no luck. In the morning, I was able to Live Chat and was told that after 2 hours from the time the order is submitted, nothing can be done to change anything about it, including shipping address. So, I am out of luck and will not receive the item I just paid for, and contacted them about within 12 (night time) hours of making the order.
I attempted to contact Groupon many times to try to get my item will be delivered to my house (rather than a stranger's house). Two days later I got a notice saying "your item has shipped to [wrong address]." Continuing to get a customer service on the phone has been impossible, and the live chat submits form answers that are unclear, repetitive and not helpful. This is truly poor customer service. Why wouldn't they want to make sure customers received the items they purchased? I will not shop here again.

Do not trust your security with Groupon, don't save your credit cards on file with them. My account was hacked, and email associated with said account was changed, and someone tried to make purchases (thanks fraud detection from Amex!). Do you think Groupon chat support can understand what 'The email associated with my account was changed' means, or any way to trace what happened? NOPE! They copy and paste the same ** 'support' messages, I can't even confirm if they know English, and I can confirm they don't know how to solve problems! You also can't phone them, and waiting for someone to email back, if you're lucky, is ridiculously long, and when they do THEY DON'T EVEN address the problem! What a joke! I wouldn't put it passed a decent hacker to have breached their 'security' and get their user/password lists, and we'd never know!

Groupon have made it impossible for me to use my work address for deliveries without explaining why and when I contacted customer support they were worse than useless - operator discontinued chat while I was typing. Here is the message I have sent to them - which I am sure they will ignore. I am not able to use my workplace address to get goods delivered and if I can’t do that I won’t use Groupon anymore as goods will be delivered while I am at work so I won’t get them.
If I don’t receive a reply to this message within 24 hours I will NEVER USE GROUPON AGAIN. There are plenty of other cheap sellers and if you can’t sort out your IT issues or provide a decent customer service then you can expect to lose customers. If I can’t order instantly and get the goods delivered to my desk there is simply no point in your existence as far as I’m concerned.

I purchased a Groupon for an auto detailing in Lebanon, Ohio. After months of trying without success to reach them, I finally found out they had gone out of business. Tried to reach Groupon customer service. Tried and tried for 2 months. Customer service at Groupon apparently does not exist. Finally, without acknowledging my attempts to contact them, they offered me a "chance to exchange" my Groupon. I didn't want to do that! I wanted my money back. Seeing that it was never going to be an option I decided to exchange my Groupon. Once on the site, it gave me only 24 hours to make the exchange and there were no other auto detailing Groupons available in my area at that time. I ended up getting 2 massages that I didn't want, as I have a LMT that I visit regularly. Both massages were very lackluster. My relationship with Groupon is over. It can be a good deal, but if anything goes wrong there is no way to get help. This company stinks!

So when there is a problem, and you want to talk to a live person - forget about that. There isn't even an online chat available. Hello I recently purchased a Groupon getaway for two night at the Holiday Inn Crystal City. I spent over 200 bucks and did not receive what I paid for. After completing the purchase I call the hotel to confirm the reservation. The front desk did not find my reservation. So I sent Groupon a message explaining the situation. No response after a few hours. So I entered into a online chat with a rep. Told me they had handle the issue. Let some time past and call the hotel again to confirm and they still did not show a third party booking. I go back on the Groupon customer service section and selected a call back. I spoke with a woman that was very nice but not helpful. I asked for a refund she tells me that I had up until July 18th to cancel but this is the thing, that's the day I purchased the Groupon. So then she tells me they have all handled and will send me a confirmation number.
So I received the email that was to contain the reservation number, not only was there no reservation number provided the number was to the hotel is invalid and it starts with a Baltimore area code instead of VA. I decide to review here and not on Groupon but the link would not allow me to. Needless to say, the hotel never received my reservation that I paid $200 bucks for. When I attempted to post a review on Groupon to warn other customers the link doesn't work.

Today was the worst experience dealing with Groupon. I purchased 4 spa tickets for spa castle through Groupon. Mind you I am on vacation and 4 hours away from home. I made it to my destination and tried to view voucher and continued to get an error. My mother made the same purchase and was able to redeem her voucher. I contacted Groupon customer service and I was informed that it had to be 24 hours before voucher can be used but again my mother made the same purchase and used her voucher just fine. When I realized that the lady was not going to be of help to me even after I told her my mother's worked but mine did not and I was at the facility trying to get in.
Her only fix to the problem was to purchase another 4 tickets directly from the facility. At this point I'm upset because they have my 120.00 but refuse to release my vouchers and the only resolution you wanna provide is to spend another 120.00 on something I already spent money on. I requested a manager or Supervisor and was told she can take my name and number and have someone call me back. At this point I'm getting more and more upset because a manager or supervisor should be readily available to speak to someone who requested them especially since I'm waiting in line at the facility with money paid and no vouchers. I never got to speak to a manager or Supervisor and the customer service agent rudely hung up in my face. I will never use them again, ever!
