My purchase didn't go thru, I have chatted and called several times to no avail. Finally, I told them to cancel the order and I was supposed to receive an email confirmation of the cancellation. Still had to call again because I had not received an email to cancel the order. Talking to foreigners who do not speak American English and don't know what they are doing. Done with Groupon.

I don’t look on Groupon but once maybe twice a week due to the offers being so limited & boring. Offers are mediocre, it’s the same thing every day. The offers that require shipping, I don’t even look at those due to the shipping fees are ridiculous & not worth the offer at all. Would be great if offers could be in my area, I’m only 20 min away from a huge city & the town I live in has tripled over the last 4 years!

I have been repeatedly cheated by this company - I keep threatening to complain but they don't seem to care. So, today I am making good on my promise to expose their wrongs. I have many emails back and forth between me and Groupon - if anyone at Consumer Affairs wants to read all about my negative experiences to know that I can back up what I say, they are welcome. In brief, this company uses lies and misdirection. I am now going through my credit card statements.
On May 6, 2018, I purchased three gift Groupons. One for a spa for $49 - the spa closed its doors (after my cousin called numerous times for months and they didn't answer; she drove there), and that amount was refunded to my card. Another business, Zena Beauty Salon and Spa, in Virginia refused to take male clients (and Groupon hid that fact in the terms and conditions instead of saying it was a woman only Groupon) - this salon, btw, has a history of accepting male and female massage, so this was extremely misleading and I would dare say illegal. I tried to work with the spa owner for a while and she said she would bring back her massage person who does male and female, but after some months... she still hadn't.
I should have received a refund in full from Groupon. I paid $35 for that and Groupon refused to give my money back even though I had informed them of the problem soon after purchase. Since they wouldn't issue the refund and insisted I take their horrid Groupon bucks, I tried to work things out with the spa owner but she couldn't in the end - stuck with $35 Groupon bucks. However, I thought I was getting the full amount I paid with my credit card but never did. The third gift Groupon didn't get used, because the person moved away - was told I'd get a full Groupon bucks credit for what I paid on my credit card, which was $25. I did not. So, I should by now have $55 Groupon bucks credit, but no...
On September 13, 2018, I purchased a cryo session from Alpha Cryo in Virginia for my husband who was suffering from bad back pain. This biz cheated my husband by 1/3 of his session time, and did not ask him questions they were supposed to as they did with other clients (my husband told me the way he was treated, and I believe he was treated differently than members of other races -my husband and I are different races); as a result, my husband had little benefit from the treatment. I originally tried to work this out with the owner in an amicable manner (for some reason and I'd have to go back thru my emails, Groupon told me to book another session so there are two of these on my account but the second make-up session never happened because the owner behaved horribly and rejected it).
Groupon read the emails and apologized profusely (I think they also suspected unjust treatment from the biz owner) and took it upon themself to issue a full refund in Groupon bucks. So by now, all you mathematicians should get that I am supposed to have $55 in Groupon bucks - but that's not how Groupon sees it. Please understand, too, that when you view your Groupon deals, they use misdirection so you can't see plainly what you paid (they don't show what I paid - isn't that illegal) and what you are refunded, so I had to go through my emails and credit cards to verify what should be plain as day on their website in my account.
In September, 2018, I purchased a book for my nephew from a great company via Groupon - total cost was $4. That month, my credit card was charged $6.75 -don't know why as I was supposed to have $55 in Groupon Bucks. So, this should bring my total Groupon bucks to $57.75. Ah. But it doesn't according to Groupon, but once again, since they hide things instead of making them crystal clear. I had no idea just how much they were cheating me until I went through my statements (something I should not have to do as it should be there on my account with respect to how much my credit card was actually charged). In fact, some of my Groupon purchases don't show anything on my account - broken links.
That brings us to Beautiful Image South Bay - On January 29, 2019, I bought a chiropractic assessment and treatment for my husband's back trouble. OK, so we called this business numerous times over weeks - they never answered the phone and never returned my message. I complained to Groupon that this biz was not professional and that I was not having an unreliable business mess with my husband's back for a chiropractic treatment. Groupon said... "Well, you should just book online..."
I said it is unprofessional for a chiropractor's office to never answer the phone during biz hours. Groupon insisted I try again. I told them to just give me the refund. They didn't -all this is documented in chats with them (as are the other Groupon issues above). Weeks later, when I realized the refund wasn't issued, I had to ask another customer service rep again for it. Groupon should not have done that. This surely violates my rights to be protected from shady businesses -would YOU reading this go to a doctor's office where they never answered the phone for weeks and you called different times (more than a dozen) of the day during biz hours? Can you trust that office or doctor with your back for a chiro treatment when you leave a message and they never responded. Would YOU blindly book an appointment with such a business?
So, by now, I should have $57.75 in Groupon bucks. I have $25.50. Not only has this company stolen, yes, I say stolen my money. They have wasted colossal amounts of my time while lying and cheating. I want them to return my money and they should even face a lawsuit and pay for their transgressions. Will that be the next step? This company doesn't care. Even if they give me back the money they cheated me of. How about my time and energy and being treated poorly, all the frustration, etc. They need to do more than pay the difference in the two amount referenced above and fast. I may post a copy of this to social media if I don't get satisfaction from Groupon. Meanwhile, I am complaining here. As I said, I have credit card receipts, screen shots of Groupon's pages, and chat histories to back up what I say. Shame on Groupon.

My wife was on the site and the next day we were charged with a purchase she did not make. When I called them Riza, one of the agents told me the site sometimes makes purchases because of a glitch. They refunded our money but the purchase was somehow rerouted to the USA. This amounted to a conversion bill of 64.00 that Groupon refused to pay. What a scam. Groupon pocketed the exchange!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMY ORGANIZATION! BUYER BEWARE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I've been using Groupon for many years. I find the deals are always as advertised and I've never been disappointed in my purchases. I let one Groupon lapse past the expiry - but on the Groupon, it stated that the value paid for the Groupon never expired. I tried to redeem it with the vendor and they would not honor it. I reached out to Groupon's Customer Support and I received a response in a reasonable amount of time and they credited me the amount the vendor should have honored. I never hesitate to purchase a Groupon. I've made dozens of purchases, and I've always been pleased!

I have had issues with three purchases with Groupon in the last two weeks. Might not be their fault but I had to get a refund for two and the third was definitely not what was described. Customer service does contact quickly but were not much help until I emailed multiple times on each item and demanded a refund. Will probably not be doing business with them anymore.

I did not get the service I paid for. I bought 6 sessions at Express Laser through Groupon. The first time I went, the machine broke down and they did not complete the job while promising to get it fixed next time. I ended with minor burns but zero service. I went there a second time and the same thing happened. The machine did not work, they kept apologizing and I ended up getting burned again. I later found out that the store opened this location recently after rebranding, after having to close down their previous enterprise due to poor service reviews.
The voucher being redeemed is irrelevant. I paid for 6 sessions and their machines malfunctioned both times I was there and I did not receive the service I paid for. I also made a complaint to the Better Business Bureau about Groupon’s business practices. Groupon's response has been to offer me a partial payment and say it's not their problem. Why am I being offered partial payment when I received no service? Groupon is a fraud with no regulation or accountability.

I have had repeated issues with their system when I try to pay. After going in circles- with completely worthless email responses- I was told to schedule a call. The agent was very difficult to understand and was not helpful whatsoever. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she mouthed off. When I responded in kind- she hung up on me. This is insane. My issue is still unresolved- so I will have my bank handle it (which will cost them a fee) and never shop on their site again. Buyer beware.

I will admit that part of this is on me. Way back in 2016, I purchased a Groupon for frozen yogurt. I paid $12 and got $20 credit. The bonus credit would expire in a couple of months. I then forgot I had the voucher and the yogurt shop closed down. When going through my account, I saw that I still had the voucher, but it was marked as expired. I read the fine print. The $12 I paid would last forever, but the $8 bonus credit was long gone. Fair enough, I just wanted the $12 which I couldn't use because the store had gone out of business.
When I contacted Groupon, they first told me that because the voucher had expired, I was out of luck. I quoted them the text that the base value ($12) never expires, and they offered me a $6 Groupon credit (which itself would expire in a few months). When I pushed back, they increased the value to $10. Ultimately, their defense was that it's up to the merchant to honor the voucher, not Groupon. In this case where the merchant was out of business, it still wasn't Groupon's responsibility and it was generosity on their part to even offer me any Groupon credit.
I'll take what I can get, and it's my fault I forgot about the voucher while the store was still open. But it would be nice if Groupon stood behind their service, and if a store has closed down they should offer to transfer the remaining voucher value or offer a refund. I suppose I'm only out $2, but what if it was a $100 voucher instead of a $12 voucher?

I have never had a good experience with Groupon Customer Service. They give different information each time you call and depending who you speak to they can do different things to help you apparently. I felt they were rude, inconsiderate and I could tell just wanted to get me off the phone/chat so they could get to the next customer (I had the same experience with multiple people). I find many of the other companies I need to contact value my business and make me feel appreciated as a customer but not Groupon. They do sometimes have good deals but it is not worth the hassle and frustration if you have a problem or issue and having to deal with the people who work there.

I'm sure that wasn't an original product. I spent $242 not to receive an original perfume. I think it is not fair. I contacted Groupon's Customer Service, but the only answer was that they cannot accept the return of these perfumes.

The was no confirm purchase on the membership. No quick way to cancel and I didn't even get the free shipping. I would understand if I had benefited from the membership that I'd be locked in but I didn't. I tried to cancel immediately after realizing the mistake. It really seem like Groupon joined scam marketing tactics. I am considering canceling credit card and deleting Groupon app forever. This is not appropriate practice for a reputable company.

Upon looking at Groupon “deals” I came across what I thought was a fun event for me and my family. I’m comparing prices with the actual excursion. It was only a few dollars savings, but I thought I would purchase from Groupon, to continue to give them my business. Making my Canadian excursion purchase, with my Canadian Credit Card tied to my Canadian address and my Canadian Groupon account, I later came to find out my purchase was charged in US currency without stating it clearly at ANY point during my purchase. Which means, after the hefty price plus currency exchange, I was actually paying MORE for my excursion than anyone else booking it directly with the company! I tried resolving this issue with Groupon and after dealing with three different people I was told that the fine print says “final sale”.
I was fine with the “final sale” however I am NOT fine with tricking me into purchasing something by charging me in a higher rate currency without even stating the purchase made would be charged in US funds! This was a complete disappointment not only from finding out the tricks that are played on Groupon, but also the horrible customer service, despite Groupon’s claim to “customer satisfaction”. I tried everything in my power to be fair and reasonable with Groupon representatives and quickly learned it’s all just “talk” without action. You can’t even call Groupon anymore, the customer service #s all have recording telling you that you now must contact customer service online. Yes, live chat is there, however, I am about human contact.
After two live chat sessions, I finally completed the form to request a call back, not sure why, since everyone literally read/typed from the same script and refused to help and went as far as saying they would be fine with me “trying” to dispute these charges further, if my credit card company will fight for me. Thanks Groupon! Thanks for leaving a horrible taste in my mouth and for not being able to positively promote your company. I tried to leave a zero star rating, however that isn’t possible. One star is far more generous than how I actual feel after this Groupon experience.

I had a second bad experience with a service from vendor that was offered through Groupon. In both cases, the vendor was impossible to contact - either the voice mailbox was full (first vendor) or the vendor never replied to phone calls and texts. The money was already paid by me and they just did not want to fulfill their commitment, presumably because it was a much cheaper rate than usual. I have tried to contact Groupon to complain and to potentially get a refund but have given up because there is no way to contact them on their website. I will NEVER use Groupon again. I had purchased vouchers for a Paint Night. When I tried to redeem them, the link no longer worked. I went directly to the company's website and it showed that they no longer had any locations in my state. I called Groupon to request a refund. Their customer service lady told me that she could not refund me, even after she confirmed that the Groupon was no longer valid. She said that she would make it so that I could trade in the voucher and purchase something else, but that I would have to do it before the Groupon expired in 23 days or I would loose the money I spent. I asked what if I don't find anything that I want before it expires and she told me to just look and find something that I might like so that I don't loose all my money.
I asked to speak with the manager and she put me on hold for 10 minutes before someone answered. He was brusk and sounded annoyed. He also refused to give me a refund back to my card even after he personally verified that the Groupon was unable to be used. He did transfer the money that I spent to Groupon Bucks which he said never expire. I am extremely disappointed with this experience. I understand not getting a refund if you change your mind or if the Groupon is expired, but when it is a circumstance like this where the merchant is no longer in business and so the Groupon cannot be used, they should refund your money.

Groupon sells manufacture defects. Companies that use the cheapest material that is not the same material if you bought it in a real store. I bought ear buds lasted 1 hour. Harris boots last 3 months and the bottom fell out. Clothes, electronics or anything made are all cheap quality and cheaply made. It's only a warehouse for companies to sell their products using the cheapest material. Usually products has manufacturer's warranty. Not on Groupon. They will not give you any contact info to contact the manufacturer or store that sells the product. Also you can get the same product at a better price shopping around who treats their customers better. 30 day warranty is all Groupon gives. You do not get manufacturer's warranty because Groupon does not give you any information to contact the manufacturer concerning defects. Other online stores give you the manufacturer's info.

They want me to get in touch with a special department at Starbucks, have them send me special screen shots, call Groupon back, email them screenshots and then they will escalate the problem to a special team. Really? When did it become my job to solve their technical and service problems? And is it really fair to their customers to have to wait months to use their vouchers due to their inadequacy. I enrolled, but the promoted $11.24 discount would not apply to the offer afterwards. I contacted customer service and they said the offer was not applicable for the discount. The select program terms and conditions said: "Some deals excluded and not eligible for an extra discount. The applicable discount, if any, will be shown at checkout." This was shown at checkout.
When I contacted customer service they said this was not eligible for discounts and they would not refund the Groupon Select Membership that was purchased a few minutes before. They said the fine print on the previous page said this offer was not eligible for discounts and promo codes. When I asked why they would promote at checkout the additional savings in exchange for enrollment if it didn't apply and they just kept citing it wasn't eligible.
We spend a decent amount on Groupon for activities for our kids and if they like the activity, later often convert to permanent customers of the establishment; yes we actually use the website as it was intended. This was a $179 Groupon and it was an membership to a place that was 6 hours out of town. I was on the fence with buying it because of the distance and not knowing how much I would use it. On impulse I decided to move forward with the purchase and I enrolled in a program that would charge me a membership fee each month to save a little more; one I would probably let linger and forget about for sometime.
When the discount did not end up applying and customer service failed to provide a solution except we can cancel your membership but would not refund the $4.99 initial monthly fee, I now have second guessed the purchase and have not moved forward, am questioning future purchases and have immediately cancelled the reoccurring membership. This is the 1st time I can recall interacting with their customer service and it was just so poor. I could even understand if it was a 3rd party charge that they couldn't refund but this was their own membership service that was just activated for a few minutes (I contacted them immediately) just makes me question using them anymore and what else they would not stand behind. Can not ever get anyone to get on the phone with me, they will chat with me by email with several days in between contact and with multiple responders, and they keep saying I have to deal with the 3rd party, but I have no way of getting in touch with them. Meanwhile this was all on April 2nd, I sent the light back April 7th and I am still out $80, and Groupon has remained evasive enough to where now it seems I am not ever going to see that money back. If I had the light kit, I would take a selfie to show how mad my face is right now, but I don't have that either. Also no thanks to American Express as a card holder for 15 years, they stated Groupon told them they don't have the light kit I returned.... (Duh, that's because the 3rd party had it returned to them).

I then rec'd a second item the same as the first. My credit card was billed for two items. I contacted Groupon "help" and explained. Over a period of 5 weeks I was asked various questions and switched from one person to another three times. I was then asked all the same questions again. I typed that I would like to chat with a manager and the correspondence ceased. It felt like the process was to wear the buyer out so that he goes away. I do feel worn out and cheated. Their return policy seems flawed and the staff that I was dealing with was unethical. I like the Groupon business model however, given this experience, I cannot deal with them. I feel scammed.

My bank also alerted me of a potential fraud alert and closed my credit card. Groupon was notified via a request to call me (never received a call) and Live Chat. The merchant was notified as well. When making a purchase on Groupon I never thought that I would have a problem after all I have purchased from them many times before. Unfortunately this time was different. I purchased 3 tickets to Universal Studios on Groupon, almost $700. My initial purchase I made an error and purchased 3 children tickets instead of adult tickets and this is where the nightmare began. There is NO number to call customer service if you experience a challenge. Due to the nature of my purchase I could not request a callback from customer support. I had to go under another purchase to request a callback.
When the call came in the representative was extremely rude and short with me. The purchase stated all sales are final and she would not discuss the purchase with me. After trying to explain I was looking to simply upgrade the children tickets to adult tickets she still refused to listen or assist me. I had to request a second callback where I asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor explained to me that they could give me the money back via Groupon bucks. That was fine with me as I was going to purchase the tickets anyway. The children tickets was refunded and I purchased the adult tickets. Everything was perfect...so I thought.
Two weeks go by we have driven 8 hours to Orlando FL to only get to the gate of Universal Studios to learn our NEW set of tickets had also been refunded. Why???? Who made this request? Shocked by this news I look on my Groupon app and I see the Groupon bucks is back in my account. Embarrassed at the gate....I make the purchase again, but my Mom is there and also want a ticket so now the total cost is almost $1000. I step out of line, make the purchase, get back in line, and Groupon automatically refund those tickets, this refund, which was not requested, cause us to be turned away from Universal Studios a second time.
Hours has passed. By this time, the children are getting restless, and my senior citizen Mother is getting hungry. I request a manager from Universal Studios who shows me on the computer screen where it clearly showed that Groupon had refunded the tickets and they cannot be used. At that time I purchased tickets from Universal Studios directly in efforts to enjoy reminder of the day. At this point Groupon still has almost $1000 of my money which until this very day the refuse to refund. I simply want my cash, not Groupon bucks, back!
I have reached out to Groupon via chat, supplied them with screenshots of my tickets being refunded (without my request), the receipt from the tickets I purchased at Universal Studios, and they still refuse to resolve the matter. As a matter of fact I was blamed for the error. Yes, the customer is NOT right with Groupon. At this point I supplied Groupon with screenshots that showed the refund of my tickets the day of the purchase. However now it magically showed the tickets valid. We are back home and is not interested in using the tickets. My advice to all shoppers is please don’t purchase from Groupon! Their customer service is horrible, you can’t just call and speak with someone, and the few dollars you save is not worth the headache if something goes wrong. Please share this warning with all your family and friends.

Which I have no interest in receiving... I paid for the return shipping in cash. They are the ones who made the error of shipping the wrong item. I believe it is only fair I get paid back in the method of my choice. Not their choice so they can make more money from me. Groupon is a scam. Here is how they do it: 1. They collect money from clients that purchase products and services from independent businesses. 2. They do not allow the businesses to contact the clients who purchased their product or service. 3. When and if the client contacts the business, the telephone number is blocked, thereby reducing the likelihood that the business will answer the phone. The point of all of this is for Groupon to hold as much of the clients' money as possible for as long as possible for the purpose of investing and expanding their net worth. They say they don't give clients' info out to businesses for security purposes. That is a lie. This practice should be criminalized.

She couldn't give me her last name, told me there was no one above her "willing" to speak to me and then hung up on me. I am APPALLED by the behavior of this so-called Customer Support Specialist. There was nothing special or supportive about her.
Groupon might save you a few dollars, but NOT worth the hassle & stress of doing business with them. They are sneaky about the fine print (when it comes to purchasing a gift) and they are SO unhelpful - don't even bother trying to get in touch with customer support. Further, businesses selling on Groupon only make 50% of the voucher price, and Groupon takes the other half. Save yourself the headache of going through Groupon and their HORRIBLE customer support, and buy straight from the business. They will usually honor the Groupon price AND this makes it a win-win... They get 100% of the sale and you don't have to deal with the crap service with Groupon's Customer "support" (really, lack thereof).

Ok so I have been using Groupon for a while, and most of the items I wanted where ok and in good time, however they are usually very cheaply made, cheaper made than expected most of the time. and I have received about 3 products that where broken on delivery. My bigger issue is that you have to watch for Groupon deals especially on products, because With a little research you will find that they are not the cheapest deal out there for the same products, even if you look at a big box retailer like Walmart or Toys R Us, you will find the exact same products but sometimes cheaper than Groupon, so make sure you know what other companies are offering before buying from Groupon.
Also I have been having trouble with tickets bought on Groupon, if you miss the show the tickets were bought for, you can’t redeem them for something else which is fine, however they will send you push notifications telling you that you can?! Which is false advertisement, and I get these push notifications a lot, which then confuses me into thinking I can redeem my expired tickets. My advice would be buy from Groupon ONLY if you know you are getting a deal, and don’t always trust their push notifications or what their sellers are saying because it’s not always as advertised. When I asked for a refund within the 3 days, they said, "All sales final but we will put Groupon bucks into your account," but instead of a higher Canadian figure that they charged they put in lower unit U.S. bucks. When you go to use those credits for a Canadian purchase like Niagara Falls Fun Zone, they do not do a U.S. to Canada currency conversion...hence you pay 67 US for a 67 Canadian deal. I just want to start out by saying that I have purchased many items and event tickets from Groupon over the years and I have had problems with a few things here and there, but I understand things happen so I haven't complained. However, what happened to me this past Thursday and the way I was treated is NOT ok and your company should be concerned about who is representing you to your loyal customers. I purchased 2 tickets to The Beatles Love show, in Vegas, for Thursday night for my mother and her friend. I saw that the tickets were non-transferable so I made sure to have the name and spelling of her friend so I could add that to the tickets. When I went to make the purchase, I selected 2 tickets and noticed there wasn't a spot to add names for the vouchers. I triple checked to make sure I wasn't missing something but still did not see a place for this information.
I made the mistake of trusting that I must be able to add them after the sale. That was not the case. I noticed I received 2 vouchers where my name was automatically added and that it stated my name had to be on the ID to pick both of them up at the box office. I tried contacting you within a minute of the sale and was finally able to get someone through live chat less than 5 minutes after the purchase. This person informed me that there was nothing he could do because they were non-transferable and non-refundable. He also informed me that even if he escalated the situation, I would get the same answer and that I wouldn't receive a call from anyone for 24-48 hours!
My next tactic was to try the box office since you cannot even reach anyone by phone at your company. The woman at the box office was VERY nice, sympathetic and helpful even though the problem wasn't hers at all. There was nothing she could do but she tried everything she could with me for about 30 minutes and sincerely apologized every time she came back on the line to say her idea didn't work out. There was nothing she could do but she tried and she was so nice about it with me. That is exactly how customer service should be.
After trying with her, I tried Groupon again and this time, I requested a phone call online. Someone called me about 30 minutes later but she was not understanding my problem because she wasn't truly listening to me and that was very frustrating. She put me on hold for about 10 minutes and when she came back, she started to tell me how to purchase a Groupon. I was dumbfounded considering I had already spent 10 minutes explaining to her that I had already made the purchase and needed assistance with it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was placed on hold for another 20 minutes before a very rude man picked up the phone.
This is where things got even worse when they should get better. This man has no business being in customer service and I only wish he had provided his name. He refused to let me speak and just kept repeating the policy in the fine print. I was trying to explain that the problem was in the purchasing process but he told me this Groupon was not allowed to be purchased as a gift and I should have realized that. I asked if he was telling me that I was out $158.87 and if he was really not going to try and help me at all and his response was "Yeah, I guess that is what I am saying. I am not willing to do anything because that is our policy. If you want to talk to someone else, you can request another call on the site" and HUNG UP on me!
I have never experienced anything like that in customer service. You ought to be ashamed. I understand company policies but I also understand good business practice and this entire transaction, from start to finish, was not good business practice. It is not my fault that your system didn't ask for names on these vouchers and just automatically added mine. Nowhere on the Groupon, anywhere, does it state that these tickets cannot be purchased as a gift and if I am able to purchase multiple tickets, why would there not be a place to add names, especially if they refuse to assist you after the purchase? I work for a group travel company and have purchased event tickets for multiple people numerous times and through numerous companies. Each and every other company does not even allow you to finish the sale without physically typing in a name for each voucher, when they are non-transferable.
Even the woman at the box office used the excuse that the tickets are like a plane ticket! You cannot purchase a plane ticket, or any other non-transferable ticket, without prompting the customer for names to show on the front. Also, even airlines will allow you to change the names on your plane ticket. Groupon just added my name automatically and then basically told me I was out $158.87 without so much as an apology. Your company made the decision not to assist me in any way, even though you were fully capable of making things right in this situation. I am appalled at the way this was handled and the way I was treated and you can be sure I will never purchase another thing from your company.

I purchased a horseback ride experience with wine tasting for my wife and I for our wedding anniversary. Great deal at $149! When I called the winery stables to book, they said they only took one booking with Groupon daily and said they were overbooked due to recent inclement weather. They offered me an alternative deal over the phone which was too good to pass up. They said I could get my money back from Groupon since the order I placed was under 72 hours old.
I tried in vain to get a hold of someone from Groupon. Groupon has no customer service where you can speak to a person. Their so called online chat is an absolute exercise in futility leaving the user completely and utterly frustrated. The website is no help and their third party chat never returned any of my inquiries. Needless to say, I am out my $149 initial investment and left with a sour taste regarding Groupon. I have bought through Groupon before and was a big fan in the beginning. However, if not used right away and it expires, most services do not back it up and your money is lost. Even though it states worth the amount purchased for....That is not true. I've lost hundreds of dollars this way. Groupon is such a rip off and not even worth using. I am surprised they are even still in business. They are just barely hanging on as it is which is evident by their one star ratings.

DO NOT BUY SHOW TICKETS FROM GROUPON! PJ Mask live is coming to my town Madison Wisconsin. I wanted to go but tickets were a little too steep for me. Then Comes my surprise when I see Groupon advertising to me directly on my Facebook page that they have tickets 50% off! I of course bought them and at check out realized it was for a show in LA California. I got immediately to my orders to find a refund button. There isn't one. So I reach out to customer service to explain the issue. They tell me, "No refunds. Too bad." basically. It's just horrible customer service and they know darn well not the right thing to do. They were specifically advertising a show coming to my town, but selling tickets in the other town to trap me. I'm sure they're doing this to many people. I had purchased a voucher, followed the instructions perfectly but was having issues with the site. I contacted the company the voucher was for first but they were unable to really help. Knowing that I was past the refund policy time, I used the live chat to see of they could help me. First aggravating experience was: someone introduced themselves. Within a few seconds of the intro, as I was typing out my issue, the "person" started immediately asking if we were still connected.
I typed it out and responded yes, I'm just typing out my problem. He asked for the promo code, etc. I give it to him. The he said that I qualified for some challenge and wanted to send an email. I said no to the email and he said ok, he will deal with the issue first and then send the email. Ok whatever. I didn't respond expecting him to maybe get back to my problem. But he once again asked if we are still connected. Yes, we are I'm waiting on you. Then he says great! Lookout for the email. Yeah. Ok. Can we get back to my problem? He then immediately says there is no refund as I'm past the time limit.
That's not even what I asked about! I responded with "are you even a person". Immature probably but I was so frustrated at the time I didn't care. I ended it because I didn't want to deal with it again. I honestly don't think think their "live chat" is even live. And if it is, that person relied on canned responses way too much and didn't even consider my needs. I sent an email to explain what happened but haven't heard back yet.

I went to the URL and it had a place to enter the redemption code. When I entered the code, it said there was a problem.
I chatted online with two different customer service reps. The first rep gave insanely stupid things to try and basically ended the chat. The second rep ask a lot of questions. After they took their payment they switched the hotel to a Days Inn and I was charged 10 dollars less than their normal rates, $5 dollar savings per night, I have loyalty cards for Best Western and Comfort Inns and so I try very hard to stay in these hotels. Also the hotel they booked me at was not even close to being within walking distance to the falls. I cannot even begin to say how upset I have been from the whole experience. Trying to call them on the phone that day and you can't talk to anyone in person. I did get through to several people on the phone only to be told that I would have to go to the website.
I found a another Days Inn in the downtown area who would have been more than willing to honor the Groupon because it was what they would have charged anyway and no savings at all but Groupon would not speak to me on the phone to transfer the money to the hotel. My experience with Groupon was that it was a total scam, false advertising, and bait and switch tactics that are illegal in Canada was their method of dealing with the customer and then when you try to call them I am faced with people who lie to you first by saying that I stayed in the hotel and used the Groupon when I did not.

A month 1/2 after Christmas I was fed up and scoured the World Wide Web for a number. The numbers are a recording and no one is there to help, a dead end. Finally, I was able to get someone on chat to help. After getting several upsells from them, I received a refund for the undelivered items. I understand sometimes things get lost in transition, but two items and having no way to contact them? I lost over three hours of my life trying to deal with this order. If you have nothing better to do with your time and money, by all means throw it away at Groupon.

Consumers need to be aware of the Groupon Select Program. While I was updating my credit card information on Groupon. I accidentally clicked on Groupon Select. There was no confirmation warning whatsoever about this 'subscription'. Desperately reaching out to their customer support within in 2 minutes, no solution was being offered, except being repeatedly cited their terms & agreement, which I did not read as I had no intention to subscribe in the first place - "During your 6-month contract, your subscription cannot be canceled and fees are not refundable."
I have long heard faults on Groupon's business model. Very often at times, merchants would request me not to go through Groupon but pay them at the same price instead. I always wondered why. Now with this experience, I got a peek of how Groupon conduct their business, they are surely damn good at pissing off both the merchants and customers. After spending nearly $3000 Groupons in the past 2 years, no more Groupons for me - that's for sure. Groupon sucks!

I contacted customer service, they cancelled my previous order and gave me the run around about the code. I had to contact them three times because they wasn't responding. Beware when contacting them that it will be hours and there will be no resolution!

I waited 2+ weeks, had to hunt down the 3rd party delivery service just to find out Groupon had never sent the package. After trying to reach a manager 3 phone calls later. 2 hours with customer service. They put me on hold for almost 30 minutes. Twice the call got dropped when on hold (funny how this never happened with anyone else). Every time I asked for a callback I had a different person who was nonchalant about the problem. After 3 days I finally get ahold of a “supervisor” Paul (probably not his real name). All I asked was that I get a refund and some credit for the wasted hours. NO HELP AT ALL. If you want to risk having a horrible experience don’t go with Groupon. Just buy the stinking product full price. You will pay more if you don’t.

I purchased a Groupon Select for $5 per month for a period of 6 months. (First month free). The notice said that I could get an additional 25% off. I took that to mean that as being an additional 25%. Well, Groupon usually has a sale where you get an additional 25, 30% off, or a dollar amount off based on how much you spent. Well, you don't get an additional $25 percent off if they are offering a discount. I complained several times about this but they told me they could not refund my money. At the end of the six months, they will notify me to see if I want to renew. So, I have paid $25 and get nothing out of it because of all the coupons they have. No one at Groupon could understand why I was upset. To me, "additional" means additional. Also, to me, this is false advertising.

Then in January 2019 they completely stopped working. Contacted Apple and they told me the warranty is not valid because whatever company had purchased them in 2017. Contacted Groupon to see if something could be done as they were only 2 months old. Groupon informed me that since they were purchased over 30 days ago there was nothing they could do- website states that there is a 60 day warranty, but not offered this and when asked the representative about warranty stated there isn’t one. I will not be buying from Groupon again.

I also have a Groupon that requires me to download a link that Groupon sent me in order to use the purchase. The link will not open. I keep getting an "Oops! Internal Error" message. MANY people online are complaining of the same issue. We cannot seem to get through to Groupon in any way, shape or form. Their customer service number only tells you that they now take care of any customer service issues online. If you can't get a hold of them online how do you get any service???

We were in the ER when my phone showed a Groupon offer for 6 Flags Magic Mtn. to be redeemed within 3 days, Jan 6th. I saw a Confirmation message on the screen and tried to back out of it but it got Confirmed anyway. They billed my credit card which I've since canceled. They would not refund it because of the "fine print". A Groupon rep in the Philippines suggested I "give" it to a friend or relative. I did not order it anyway. ONE ticket to be used in 3 days? I flew back home to San Diego on Jan 7th. Groupon needs to stop flashing quick offers on the screen with no recourse, no choice to answer Yes or No. I will report them to everyone, every agency I possibly can. They have billions now and don't give a darn.

The team member responded in a timely fashion; however automatically assumed the redemption was an error on my part. He stated he would unredeemed the deal but future deals will not be granted. When I checked to see if my deal was unredeemed it still showed as being redeemed. I contacted customer service again to ask for a refund, in which they refused to give me and stated that I had redeemed the Groupon. I tried to explain to the team member that I never used the Groupon and that the problem was suppose to be handled from my first email.
The team member sent me another email refusing my refund stating that I redeemed the Groupon. I wasn’t able to contact or use the call back option for customer service because it kept stating unavailable. I was able to chat with a team member; however nothing was resolved through this. The team member stated I used the Groupon and that I had a similar request for redemption before, which was untrue. Never had a problem with redeeming a Groupon before. The customer service unit for Groupon is horrible. I was only able to resolve the problem by calling the detailing company that the Groupon was for and they stated they had similar complaints and would handle the problem. Groupon will not be getting any more of my business.

Do not buy Groupon! Just call the services directly and arrange your price with them. If the companies offer their services on Groupon, they would have no issues to arrange a good price for you. Groupon charges companies half a price, and if you buy a Groupon for hair, you will pay double price once you get to hair saloon. When I figured it out and ask Groupon for credit, they refused me. I lost my money as I could have much cheaper price with my old hairdresser. Groupon does not care about their customers, all they want is your money! I said that, that was fine with me. It's $70.00!
Also, on the Groupon itself (in print) states that, "Even after the promotional value expires, the Groupon is still worth what you paid for it". However, the tour company went out of business shortly after issuing the Groupon and now Groupon refuses to refund my actual cash value and even refuses to offer a Groupon credit. HOW IS THAT FAIR? THEY PAID THEMSELVES WITH MY MONEY FOR NO SERVICE RENDERED!
They did this to me once before recently where the actual cash I paid for a restaurant that went out of business was 25.00 and they gave me 12.50. So, they are paying themselves 50% - 100% commission on bogus businesses that they listed. But, but there is no way to get any resolution with Groupon because they will not talk to their customers (There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE) and whenever you write them, it winds up back at a level one help desk person and they always misunderstand everything you are trying to explain and you're back at square one! Where’s the silver iPad that I ordered? The rose gold is nice color however it is not what was ordered. Additionally, the charging cable and charger do not work to charge the pad. This is a misrepresentation. Agreement of sale: iPad Pro Silver reconditioned with charging cable and USB cord. Ordered on 11/27/18 and credit card sale closed same day with delivery slated at 5-7 business days. What happened: IPad Pro Rose Gold reconditioned with dead battery and non-functioning charger and cable arrived 22 business days later on 12/28/18.
The card was charged and sale recorded but the product was not delivered for shipping. The tracking messages said product was delivered to Shipping company and awaited shipping. 12/15/18. I contacted Groupon support (ordeal). After inconclusive web response I requested phone call. Customer rep on phone apologized and provided options: cancel order, get refund in Groupon bucks. There was no option provided for refund or a refund with interest. I persisted and explained that I wanted the iPad, it was paid for, they had my money, please deliver or return my money with interest. Customer rep replied she would look into the matter. She did not say that she would return response, my mistake not to record the conversation.
A second phone call from a differed support rep came a few hours later. This rep had no awareness that I’d been contacted previously and I started over. Two days later, tracking message indicated product would ship for arrival 1/8/19. I assumed this would be the silver IPad as initially ordered. Wrong assumption.Product took circuitous route beginning in Gaithersburg, MD with one shipping company. The package travelled through Indiana to Seattle then to Oregon where it was delivered by another shipping company on 12/28/18. The package was wrapped for travel in padded box and inside in a bubble envelope. The envelope, white, did not bear the markings of main shipper or delivery shipping company. The box, brown cardboard with no brand markings, had a broken tape seal.
The issue- the sale was recorded as complete and card charged without the requisite exchange necessary for the product to transfer to the shipping and delivery company. The product ordered was not shipped nor delivered within 5-7 business days. The deal did not include adequate information about seller or contact information. Wrong color product late In an unsealed package with cables incompatible with product. This was an ORDEAL... Thank you Groupon. I’ve been reminded that shopping local and having personal face to face exchange is a much better deal.

Purchased a Christmas present for my daughters on the 10/12/18. It was guaranteed to be delivered in time for Christmas. Obviously nothing was sent, no tracking ID given, no updates whatsoever. It is now 29/12/18, nothing has been received and it never will. Thankfully I paid through Paypal and have opened a claim and will force them to refund me in full. I did contact customer service first, and got the standard automated email through telling me that I needed to be patient. I knew then that it wouldn't arrive and it never did. Looking at all of these reviews there is obviously something very wrong with this organisation. Their business doesn't work, and I've heard that a lot of parcels are not sent as customers don't use the credit notes that they offer. They need to be reported to the ACCC and I certainly will be doing so.
Latest update; Groupon have just been in touch. Apparently "According to our records, there were no issues or delays in regards to the dispatch of your item from our supplier's warehouse. However, as you have not received it yet, there is a chance it has been lost in transit at the hands of the postal service (which can happen from time to time)." I've asked them to confirm which records these were, where the parcel was being posted from, which courier was being used and what the tracking ID is. They've offered me a Groupon credit, which came as a great shock. This is a scam. They take money, don't send products, tell you that it's lost in the post and you can have a credit that you will either never use, or you'll find something of half the value and they pocket the rest. I'm definitely reporting this to the ACCC. I've never seen anything as dishonest as this online.
