Booked a vacation getaway on May 1, 2017. Also, started the express passport process on May 1, 2017. Received the voucher via email from Groupon on May 2, 2017. Contacted Vacation Express to redeem voucher on May 3, 2017, only to be told that the voucher is not valid and cannot be redeemed. It was stated, that Groupon has known for 2-weeks that the voucher number was not valid. Groupon has done nothing and will do nothing but charge your credit card and waste your time with the blame game. To date, May 3, 2017, the same deal is still on the site being sold until May 9, 2017. This is how business get you in the end, b/c Groupon will still charge a cancellation fee for something that they could not deliver on to begin with. Imagine the revenue made on cancellation fees for their error. Extremely disappointing. We will now work directly with Vacation Express to book our all-inclusive trips.

Bought local deal (karate class for 3 months) on Groupon. Went to the business and wasn't able to redeem my Groupon, business owner said he doesn't want the deal to be listed and he doesn't accept Groupons. When I contacted Groupon I was told they cannot refund my money, so I am left with no deal and no money. Please do not buy any Groupons unless you call business first and verify they are accepting it. Otherwise you may be scammed like I was.

Purchased an iPhone Otterbox in early February 2017. Weeks later I contacted Groupon to inquire why I hadn't received it. They said they had no answers. Just wait longer. Another few weeks went by... I called again... Again, no reasons given for why it hadn't shipped. 3 months later I finally inquired about getting a refund and now they say they have no record of my account. Yet I had purchased a few other Groupon items in the past year. Now am faced with having to go back thru my bank to get this charge reversed. This company is NOT legit in my book -- deals might look good but not worth the hassle. Glad I am only out 31.00 on this deal -- but buyer beware. Just look at all the bad reviews.

I bought 2 hours of housekeeping for $55 to deep clean my floors. I made the appointment then woke up super early that day to get everything off of the floor. I stayed home the whole day waiting and they pulled a no call, no show on me. I called the company and they said they would call me back 3 times now. At this point, I no longer want these people that I can't trust in my home, messing with my things. I email and call Groupon.
They make you make an appointment for a callback. My call was not returned. I called a number that I found on Google and talked to someone in possibly in India. I could tell she was just reading off of a list of responses, as she kept repeating herself. She made it sound like I was going to be refunded. The next day, I get an email stating that I will not. The email also suggested that I gift this Groupon to a friend. You might as well set your money on fire. I just spent $500 at Groupon this month and this is how they treat me. I'm deleting the app and will never use them again.

Purchased from Groupon a product said to be new & "Adjustable" to "Massage" (& with magnets) around eye socket for tired eyes. The product came in an unwrapped cellophane and the slots where the magnets sat were missing many of the magnets. The products was also NOT adjustable and would not conform in any way to make contact with skin around my eye sockets. The merchant refused a refund several times. The calls and emails I made Groupon were not successful as they always said to contact the merchant.

I forgot I had a credit of 32.00 until I purchased a gift card. On 4/30 I attempted to purchase hostas using the credit and was denied because they said it expired on 4/29. At this point I have asked to be removed from their email list and are recommending my friends and family to discontinue purchasing from them. This is not the first time I have heard of people having issues with them but it will be my last. With their wonderful customer service I now understand why their stock is tanking.

I tried to cancel my order as soon as I placed it (because I found the same item much cheaper from ASDA) but there is not cancellation option. Then contacted the customer service and they said it is too late to cancel and I have the option to return. So I tried to arrange a return but that option also didn't work (gave me "Oops try again later" error every time I tried it). I will not use this scam site and will let other to not to use.

I purchased multiple Groupons for a deal we wanted to use as a group/family. We still had plenty of time before expiration, but had been purchased a couple of months ago. We had to wait for a good weekend to go and had tried setting up a date multiple times. Company ended up not being able to accommodate all of us at once and wouldn't let us use our vouchers. We asked Groupon for a refund as it was out of our hands and we (the customers) were not at fault! They refused to refund me because it was passed the 3 day cancellation time frame. There should be exceptions when this type of thing happens! So Groupon got paid, the business didn't lose any money... but I sure did all because I fell for a "good deal" on a family fun Groupon and bought 5 of them. This type of horrible service is why I won't be using Groupon ever again and I will make sure my family does not either.

My partner & I were travelling from Australia to Hawaii for a holiday. We were researching different cultural activities we could go to, we found a great luau at the Diamond Head Resort. Upon googling the resort, an ad for a Groupon came up, we looked at the value & thought it was a good deal. So we purchased the deal. Their website suggests you check availability 5 days before purchasing; we were at least 2 months away from the date we wanted to use it. A couple weeks later we contacted the resort to book the luau, we were informed that the Royal Alii package was booked out for all the dates we were in Hawaii. The resort was lovely & tried to offer us what they could but we couldn't afford to pay more than we already had. So we contacted Groupon asking for a refund because technically the resort had refused the Groupon & on the small print of our deal it says, "If the merchant refuses the Groupon, we will give you a refund. Period."
We emailed & used live chat multiple times & kept being given the runaround saying that we could not get a refund because it was after 3 days, ignoring the fact that we could not use the Groupon because the merchant was booked out & that we would be offered Groupon bucks we could use for 'local deals'. As we bought off the American site we were not able to used the bucks for the allotted 'local' deals. We contacted the Diamond Head Resort to get their input, they gave us the number for Groupon & said if we had a problem their manager would contact them for us.
We ended up having to make 2 long international calls, one of which we were hung up on. We finally got connected to an Indian girl that could not understand my email. Kept putting us on hold & then came back trying to offer us Groupon bucks. We finally broke down trying to explain that we could not use these. After more arguing we were told we would be contacted within 72 hours with a resolve. Within 48 hours we finally had an email saying we were getting a refund of $270 AUS/ $199 US. I work in customer service & the quality of the service I receive from Groupon was disgusting & almost ruined our holiday.

I recently purchased a Groupon for grout cleaning services based partially on the companies 4-star rating. After an appointment no-show and failure to communicate by the cleaning company I filed a complaint with Groupon. Groupon responded quickly and offered me a trade-in to purchase other services. I was satisfied with this resolution. However, I did want to provide a review on the cleaning company to warn off others who might consider using them. While I can see reviews on the website and app I can not write one. I decided to put reviews on Yelp and Google as well. What I found on both is that many people have been having the same problem with this company for over two years, many who's interaction with the company started with Groupon.
In most cases the complainants contacted Groupon and received some form of reimbursement. This means that Groupon is well aware of this company's track record, yet still does business with them. Not only this but provides no way to provide a review of the service. The only time you can review a service is once it has been fulfilled. The parties who really benefit from this system is Groupon, because they are getting your money regardless, and this awful company that has left many people, myself included as we purchased the service to put our house on the market, between a rock and a hard place.

Since Groupon does not respect customer's honest opinion and rejects my review on their website. (What happens to freedom of speech?) I thought I would post it here. Groupon only cares about your money and do not care about the quality of product you receive. There were no warnings on the page about product may not look the same as shown and the product received is not same size like it was displayed in the picture. Since Groupon does not stand behind their sales (not even return half of the order or exchange), I am stuck with them. I am not buying another goods through Groupon and you should be aware of this company too.

Groupon continually disappoints - I don't know why I have continued purchasing from them this long, and probably won't be in the future. Over the past few days I've been trying to purchase a wine-making experience. Two nights ago, I attempted to order twice, with two different credit cards. The site stated that it couldn't be processed & to contact customer service if it couldn't be resolved. In the meantime I used one of those credit cards for a different online purchase without any issues. Today I tried again, and was able to successfully purchase other Groupons, but not the wine-making experience.
After a phone call, then using their live chat option to speak with a representative and then a manager; followed by another phone call, I was finally told that the offer was no longer available - yet the site was saying my CC couldn't be processed, and it was STILL showing up on their website. I pointed out to the representative this issue for myself and other potential customers, as well as the inconvenience of spending several hours trying to sort out issues that didn't even exist and they offered me a measly $5 credit, which I did get up to $15 after expressing how frustrated I was.
I then went back to their site to try to use the credit they had given me, and now nothing will process. I've gone back through the live chat process AGAIN and was told to log out & back in, and that they would refresh my account in the meantime so that I could re-enter my credit card information (which was never the issue to begin with) and would have no problem making a purchase. I followed their instructions, and have still not been able to process any further purchases. This is the worst/least helpful customer service I have ever dealt with. The potential savings are NOT worth the headache of trying to get everything sorted out. P.S. Both times I was on live chat with them, the agent ended the chat without even checking to see if my problem had been resolved.

I haven't used Groupon in 5 or more years. I received an email confirmation for two orders placed on my account the other day. Absolutely no contact number on the Groupon site. Google helped me there. Customer service rep doesn't speak English... well. Asked to talk to manager or the account specialist that I was told would be assigned to my fraud issue. It turns out that customer service calls cannot be escalated and the account specialists only work via email!!! HA! What an amazing business model, "no accountability." Asked for my account to be cancelled. Luckily my card on file was very old and no longer valid. But someone hacked into my Groupon account and I can't get a follow-up call. The account specialist has emailed me... asking for my credit card information! Clearly they don't place a lot of value on the customer experience.

I have experienced several "Groupon deals" with misleading and/or false advertising for deals. One must be very careful and ask a lot of questions before purchasing because what you see is not necessarily what you get. On top of it, they will not issue a refund after 3 days of purchase. If you try to redeem before the expiration date you may find out too late that the description was misleading.

I had to fight with Groupon to get a refund on a purchase, and after speaking with numerous representatives, they offered me "Groupon Bucks". Which is money they give you to put right back into Groupon. However, you only have 24 hours to use this money, and after that it is gone. They emailed me to tell me the Groupon Bucks were in my account, which I didn't see until the Groupon Bucks were already gone.
First of all, why would you expect me to instantly see an email, which by the way was sent to my junk mail (which I know see why, Groupon is junk) and why would you only give someone 24 hours to spend money on something from your company? It just amazes me how a billion dollar corporation can be so greedy. I even spoke with manager, who instead of being helpful, treated me like an idiot and did nothing to resolve the issue. I would not recommend using Groupon to anyone, because they are a selfish and greedy corporation who does not care about their customers. Worst customer service.

I bought a "deal" for a Microdermabrasion. After two days I called the business for schedule an appointment. The location in Doral answered my phone call and said that I need to call another number so I did and left a voice mail with my phone number. Nobody ever called me. I wrote Groupon after few days and they told me, after a couple emails, that they finally reach the business and they will contact me. After more than a month and many emails with Groupon they are still asking me for my permission to contact the business (I did many times already). Some of them said that I can the trade in, some said no so I was screwed up losing my money because the business is like a ghost and they don't want to refund my money. So I paid for a service that I never received and their customer service is horrible!

I went to buy two iPads from Groupon and they had declined my transaction because my bank had saw the charge and put a fraud alert on card just in case. After calling and straightening out with my bank I was told to repurchase from vendor (Groupon). So I did but the iPad I wanted was now sold out so I check SE a different model then my credit card was turned down again. Groupon said, "Transaction cancelled, couldn't authorize credit card." So I called bank again and this time the fraud alert was removed I went back to Groupon and bought my two iPads.
Well the next day I went to help my sister after her chemo appointment and had been there all day. When I was driving home I noticed I didn't have enough gas to make it home. I stopped and got gas and my card was denied and when I checked my account I had only 3cents left in my bank. Groupon had pushed through the first two sales that were declined one of which supposedly was sold out earlier. And charged me for 6 iPads. Of course there was no answer and no connection to the chat help.
The next morning I called and was told that it's processing so no refund even though it was their fault. I asked for supervisor and explained to her that my electric will be shut off, my car payment will bounce and she said she couldn't do anything. She couldn't tell me who the merchant was (I just spent 1200 with said merchant I think I deserve their name) so I could call and cancel order because it hadn't physically shipped yet but she was rude and didn't help at all. Needless to say, I was told I have to wait for the iPads to show up then return them. Then after Groupon gets them it'll take ten days for refund.
Because of this, my electricity check bounced and my power was shut off so I live in a house with no light or air conditioning or hot water. My insurance on my car will be cancelled in two days, my other half is diabetes c and insulin needs to stay refrigerated which we can't do and I am going to be hit with about 600 dollars in bank fees. So what started out as a decent deal ended up costing me more than buying an Apple laptop, an iPad air2 and Apple TV combined. I could've had a crazy set up but instead I am sitting in the dark and the heat (I live in Florida) waiting on iPads to come that I can't even supply power to.

I purchased Power Center 6900 Joules Surge Protector With Phone And Sat-Cable Line Protection April 14, 2017 and started monitoring the delivery. Package was left on my doorstep only it turned out to be a lousy Pink Running Belt. I never ordered a running belt. I immediately contacted their CSA but just like everything else since their change of management; catastrophic.
CSA was very scripted almost robotic and that made me realise it's going to be a heck of a fight to get my original order back if not refund. She says she's Glaiza and read me their own "Miranda warning" stating... "let me set your expectation" with a whole lot of "We will Nots." When she landed I was livid and insisted I would like to speak to a supervisor; she refused. She told me they would give me my refund of $31.72 and $5 Groupon bucks only after I print a return label and return the junk they sent me instead of my purchase. She later hung up. I had to make a second call but in my observation, they appear to have no initiatives nor accountability of any sort. It appears no one puts them in check for speaking a certain way.
The next CSA named Pau came online and I cut to the chase asking to speak with the supervisor. She said he won't be available until after an hour. Supervisor named Dave called me. There was no apology for their poorly executed process or failure to fulfill an order already paid for, instead he threatened me saying, "you need to do what we say otherwise you will not get anything done." I immediately asked if the call is being recorded and requested a third level escalation. He said he's the only one there today. Here is my issue: you don't send me a product I did not buy and then give me instruction on how I have to print a return label and put the stuff in the post before you can begin to process my refund. Before supervisor got off the phone he said; "I will give you your refund in Groupon buck." At this point I decided to end the conversation and find resolution in a different way.

I have multiple complaints about Groupon. Perhaps the most alarming is that I received an email from Groupon stating that there was suspicious activity on my account. Therefore, I had to reset my password and they removed the credit card from my account. I became alarmed. What suspicious activity was note? And did they already get my credit card information? Three calls to three different people in the Philippines yielded three different responses. In the end, I need to call local authorities and my credit card company and monitor my financial information, as Groupon was either unable or unwilling to tell me if my personal information was compromised. It was appalling. Customer Service could care less if my personal identity was stolen or not. Someone was supposed to get in touch with me immediately, and it's over 24 hours and I've heard nothing from the "escalation" that was supposed to occur.
They were also unwilling to credit my account after I quite obviously purchased the wrong Groupon. Two restaurants have the same name. I immediately purchased the correct one. I wasn't even asking for a refund, just a credit so I could buy a Groupon I would actually use. I emailed Groupon immediately. They said they never received the email, ergo, I am stuck with a Groupon I will never use as the restaurant is too far away. Not that it matters... Not that Groupon cares that they have lost a loyal customer. It's one thing to potentially have your personal information stolen, but another thing entirely when the company isn't disclosing whether or not there was a security breach. Pathetic.

The first person answered after 30 minutes. Her name was AMY who was Chinese or Japanese female; was unable to take my email address for the first time. I spelled more than 10 times. After 45 minutes a man FORD answered and said the only way is that I print voucher and email it to you and it would take 15 minutes, so again put me on hold!
2- AS AGAINST BUSINESS ON TORONTO GROUPON. The businesses are not providing full information and breaching the Customer's Privacy. For example, the Institute of Traditional Medicine, at 533 Queen Street W. Toronto, was locating a CAMERA in the massage room ceiling! Or Sully's Boxing Gym had worst air quality and the directest Gym in the World that whole gym was a ROOM! Or Wynn Fitness Clubs were demanding credit card whereas I paid for voucher!
Or King Massage & Wellness made appointment with me, however she did not show up for massage, even after 30 minutes, so I left! Or Gordy's Boot Camp Toronto had small room for boot camp with "a small mix men & women change room”!! Or Fit Factory Fitness - Toronto, the instructor were abusive toward participants, so while I paid for service, I could not take those rude and unprofessional conduct and misconduct, whereas, instructor clearly was using drug! http://fitfactoryfitness.com/

If I could give Groupon zero stars, I would. Groupon's claim that "amount paid for voucher never expires" is false. The vendor, a rude, unprofessional hair salon owner, refused to accept Groupon at face value (it had expired). After dealing with this rude vendor, I was faced with Groupon's appalling lack of customer service. Their customer service reps don't speak English. So first you have to get past their long-winded effort to get your full name and email address. I then I explained why I can't use this groupon. I ask for a refund since Groupon still had my money/payment, no transaction with that Salon - so Groupon didn't transfer the amount I paid for the groupon to the salon.
This robotic person on the phone says they can't "cancel" groupon, offered to extend the expiration date. Why would I want to go back to a rude salon owner who refused to accept my groupon at face value? And what is with this term "cancel"? It is passive aggressive. Like I changed my mind and asked for "cancellation", tone deaf to the fact I had a worthless voucher. Then they offered me Groupon bucks but said it'll take 72 hours to post. And there are time constraints on it. Groupon will not simply refund the money to my cc. Their chat room customer service is as bad - all of them have a script & recite it.
Groupon doesn't care about you. Vendors who won't honor face value?! Groupon keeps your money. I ordered 4 Groupons for DNA testing. There was an error at first processing the Groupon so I contacted Groupon and the customer service rep forced it through. I ended up being charged on my credit card twice for them, and then I was charged once on my PayPal (both accounts are associated with my account). I contacted Groupon who offered me a refund of Groupon Bucks for the overcharges. I told them I wanted the refunds to my credit card and PayPal account. They said they would refund it to my card and now PayPal is showing up as pending/cancelled. It took my 8 chat sessions with customer support yesterday to get it fixed, or at least I thought it was fixed.
I got up this morning to an email from Groupon thanking me for my purchase of 3 MORE DNA tests. So I've been charged for 15 tests total and my funds are tied up for 11 of them since the PayPal is showing cancelled/pending and not affecting my account. I contacted them again and asked for a full refund on all Groupons that I have. They once again offered Groupon Bucks, which I refused. They promised a full refund, but said it could take 10 business days! I didn't authorize the purchase of the additional 3 tests and they weren't sure who had ordered them. I purchased a refurbished Apple Watch through Groupon, as a Christmas gift. The terms for returns were extended from the normal 14 days to 60 days, due to the holidays. However, these terms were changed back to 14 days, AFTER the purchase was made. The watch is still activated by the original owner, which means it can't be paired to another iPhone and so this $217 watch is absolutely useless. This is an anti-theft feature and is the most basic thing that is checked when it is received by a reputable company that refurbishes these items. Groupon's refusal to help remedy the situation or provide any information about the merchant makes me think that they may be aware that the merchant was selling stolen goods and they are a party to it.
Buyer beware when doing business with Groupon! What did Groupon do wrong? Groupon changed the terms of the return policy back to 14 days, after the purchase was made. After 3 hours waiting I came back the restaurant, one customer already in the restaurant, but to my surprise I stand at the reception desk for while nobody greeting me. I have to find a table by myself, but after sit there 10 minutes, still nobody provide service.
There is a waitress come out serve the other customer, then go back her seat watch her cellphone. I called her loud. She looked at my direction, but quickly back to her cellphone again. I have to walk all the way to her seat, ask if she can give me a menu. She is little unhappy because my complaining. After I step out restaurant mad I called groupon right away, want to check the policy why they don't allow 1 person to use the coupon. The customer service of Groupon double checked the terms and tell me there is no registration saying one customer is not allowed. The gentlemen from Groupon suggest I give the phone to general manager to communicate, so I go back to restaurant give the phone to the GM of Crab & Claw, while keep me stand there for another 10 minutes. The GM very tough and rude talk with the Groupon customer service, he keep on asking in his Korean tone English why I have to follow Groupon rules? Which make me really funny, after I stand there so long I lose my patience, I asked him give me back phone, there is no meaning I wait there for his mercy. He don't even being polite. How can I expect to give a good service. The Groupon customer service even so mad, he told me the General Manager of Crab & Claw is so rude, he never met anybody like him.
I was shocked with my experience, traveled 40 miles, spend 5 hours but get the service like that? Groupon looks has very weak control on those restaurants. I got a $30 Groupon for a massage. The massage company would only communicate via email. No calls, no website, only emails. I sent 6 emails to them trying to set up an appointment. On one occasion I got a response that they had an opening in 30 minutes! I work 45 minutes away. I called them and they refused to make an appointment that way referring me again to email. During this time I emailed Groupon and they asked me to try one more time. I tried twice. Finally I realized that the Groupon has just expired the previous day. I wrote Groupon that said "Too bad, the Groupon was expired". I explained the whole situation as I have here but too bad for me as they do not refund expired Groupons. Screwpon would be a better name. Stay away from Groupon!

One of my daughters purchased myself and her sister a Groupon coupon for a 60-minute Swedish massage for our Christmas presents. After trying several times to book an appointment online I called the location of All About U. I left a message about the date and times we would like to come. Later that day someone did call me back to tell me that since it was a Groupon we could not come at the same time. I asked why, she said because they offered them at such a low price they sold a lot of them. They only hired one contractor for the Groupon massages. She stated there was no way that we could have massages at the same times-that these were not group massage packages. I said do what? She said the first available reservation wasn't until April 11, 2017. The coupon expires April 23, 2017.
Today is March 7, 2017. I informed her this should be notated on Groupon and on their website. I stated this would have been my first massage and it is definitely the last massage. Please when purchasing massages for anyone please let them know that they cannot have two appointment for the same time. I informed her it was not my problem that they sold so many at such a cheap price that was their fault. I want to make sure everyone knows that these people are NOT all about u, it's all about them. I saw a Groupon for 69% off an "Ultimate Date Night", and was initially hesitant, but when Groupon emailed to "remind" me about the deal, I went ahead it bought it. This deal gives you 2 movie passes (up to a $12 value each), and a $100 e-gift card for restaurants.com, for $39, with an additional 20% off. I verified that a movie theater I'd use was on the list and browsed the restaurants, like it says to do, before you purchase. Specifically, their wording says to check "which theaters, restaurants, providers and denominations are available near you".
What it does not say on the Groupon page is that in order to use the $100 e-gift card, you have to spend a total of $200. You don't find that out on the linked restaurants.com page that tells you which "restaurants, providers, and denominations" are near you. You don't find that out until you go into the individual restaurant page to make the purchase. Which you reasonably wouldn't do until AFTER you've already paid for the Groupon.
The problem is this Groupon is final sale, which is indicated on the Groupon page, but I would have never purchased the Groupon I'd I had known that I'd end up spending $100 to use this Groupon. I did a "chat now" with 2 representatives, Cindy ** and John **. Cindy told me there is no refund, and disconnected the chat. John basically told me that there was no way I'd get my money back, even though they only got it by being deceptive. I'm disputing the purchase through my bank, and now filing this complaint because this is unacceptable. My best friend suddenly passed away leaving her close circle on friends numb with grief. We were trying to plan a memorial, so I called the restaurant to order the turkey. At last, one of those silly Groupons was going to prove useful! I ask if I might pick up the turkey a day after the Groupon expired because it was for my dear friend's memorial service was the next day. He reluctantly agreed and told me to call him that morning for pick up time. I phoned early just to hear an annoyed voice reply, "I'm in Aspen." Excuse me? I'm saying goodbye to my best friend! I don't care if you are half way up Mt. Everest! (I was polite but told him I really needed him to follow through.) He promised to call me back in an hour. 2 hours later I phoned him. Of course I want to know the value before gifting it. I went to the website and opened a live chat. The first representative said they would have to check, went away for about 10 minutes and came back to suggest that I check my Groupon account for the balance. Did they read my question? I logged off and tried again.
This next one told me that I needed to contact a third party servicer (Star something or other) and gave me the phone number. I called them three times before someone actually answered. They informed me that they had no access to that information and I would have to contact Groupon directly. I told them that Groupon had directed me to them. She sounded as if this was nothing new and offered to connect me with someone at Groupon who could help me. I said ok.
After I repeated my story the Groupon representative told me to sign onto my account and check my balance. ** I explained AGAIN that the two things were totally unrelated because it was a gift card that I bought at the store. It had nothing to do with my account. She then suggested that I scratch off the pin on the back of the card and load it onto my account so that I could check the balance!!! I reminded her that I wanted to give it as a gift so I was not going to put it on MY ACCOUNT nor was I going to deface the card by scratching off the PIN number.
I hope you are sitting down for her next suggestion... she said in that case I should hand the card to the other person and let them go through the previously suggested exercise to find out the value of their gift. (You can't make this stuff up!) It was at this point that I wanted to ask her a question I have wondered about for a long time: Do stupid people know that they are stupid? Their "live chat person" told me that Groupon cancelled one suit because they "didn't have it". They said that they "were going" to e-mail me about it and were going to refund that suit cost. It could take up to 10 days for it to show up on my credit card statement because, of course, they had already charged my card for both suits.

Bait and Switch Tactics: I used to be a huge fan of Groupon (been with them since before 2012, at least). Lately I have been receiving many emails (sometimes up to 5+) per day with all the deals they offer. One offer in particular stood out - a 3 piece luggage set I had "looked at" originally priced at $280 marked down to $79.99. I clicked on the item and it opened the app but at a price of $249.99. I thought there was an error so when I clicked on any of the other items advertised in the email, it took me to the app again but at the price listed on the email (see the two screen shots - 1 is of the email, 2 is of the app and switched price). I called Groupon support and they asked me what the price was and told me I was mistaken that there is a different 1 piece luggage available at that price. I offered to send the email which they received. All the agent said was that if I wanted the 3 piece set the price would be $249.99.
At no point did they acknowledge that they made an error or offer to honor the price while they make a correction. To me, this is poor customer service. Aside from spamming my inbox with usually inferior products they also expect me to pay top dollar for an item I can pay less for at the outlet store? I am extremely disappointed that Groupon does not care about its customers as it had in the past, and now only looks to push more stuff/deals towards the consumer so they can turn a profit. Firstly, my Dad retired and closed his business ten years ago, he did NOT create that profile, obviously. Secondly, 90% of the so-called info/details about my Father's business were downright lies/inaccurate information. This is an example of criminals in marketing business!! Take the money of a customer, put pressure on the business for lowest price as possible to offer best deal, and then if you are as "lucky" as me, buy a deal at a business (in this case I'm dealing with Amasia Spa on Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers, FL.) with many excuse not to take the Groupon voucher, i.e. from not having available staff, staff was sick, staff having family problem, and the last excuses is that they have a new owner, and are no longer take a Groupon customers!!? I also drove to the location, just because one time they left the message and canceled a few minutes before my appointment!!!
I wrote to Groupon customer service, there is no way to get my money back! This is why I call them, Criminals! They keep the money from thousands of people who buy the voucher, some forget, some as a gift, some become expired. If the reason is because you forgot, then it's your own mistake, everyone can accept that but if you become a victim of businesses like AMASIA SPA - in Fort Myers, and GROUPON still refuses to give the money back, this is RIDICULOUS!!! I received a second error from the app. I called Groupon the next day to determine why there was an error and to purchase the item. I opened my emails to sign on to Groupon and saw that I had two emails confirming my purchase from yesterday.
I call Groupon and advised them of my situation in that their mobile site had faltered, displaying and error each time I tried to purchase this item. I told them I was only interested in purchasing (1) item and not two of the same. They advised me that they understood the app caused the error, however, they were unable to assist me because the items is nonrefundable. I advised them that I had no intentions of purchasing the same item twice and that the return policy was irrelevant because it is their app at fault. I was unable to speak to anyone with reason in that company. They actually hung up on me several times because they did not want to deal with me.

Their customer service is non-existent. Unless you want to purchase another item. There are plenty of other sites which sell promotional items. Those are the ones I'll be using in the future. Please don't use Groupon if you ever think you may need to contact customer service. They won't be there for you. One of the items they've put in my Groupons Purchased is the 1 2x2 Photoblock Ornament - Custom Wood Photo-Block Ornament from PhotoBarn. The companies cannot provide the service, and GROUPON will not refund me my $90.00. I emailed, and called several times. I spoke to representatives in India, and supervisors in the USA. I first asked for a refund, and was refused by Groupon.
I could hire a different company on their sites, so I begged them to give me credit so I can purchase the service. I was turned down, and was told "sorry." I will not get back my money, and did not receive the service I paid for a total of $90.00 ($42.00 + $28.00 + $20.00). $42.00 was paid for a moving company on the site that doesn't exist, and GROUPON refused to refund the money. My mom tried booking a getaway through Groupon. Upon trying to book her getaway, her credit card was being denied. In the meantime, the price of the trip went up. When she contacted Groupon the next day, she was told nothing could be done about it and the reason her card was being denied was because she was trying to book a getaway and she should call her bank before trying to book a getaway because the bank thinks it's fraud. Really, so you set up a deal that looks like fraud to the bank? Funny how that isn't mentioned on their website. If that is true, which I have my doubts, you shouldn't have to go through a ten step process to book a trip. Funny how the price went up and she is now stuck paying the higher price. Will not use Groupon again as they will not honor the price of the trip when she tried to book it. What a joke. I will be sure to pass this along to everyone I talk too.

If I could give Groupon negative stars I would. They have great deals and great people to help answers your questions if you have questions. But if there app glitches while trying to buy a groupon and it tells you that it failed to go through. Well its wrong they are going to charge you the money, and not give you a refund on it even though you were informed that it failed to go through on the app. So I would be very skeptical when buying stuff on groupon. I ended up getting double charged because on my groupon I ordered a hotel room and told on the app that it failed. So I believed that it never went through so I bought the deal on a friends account and it worked.
So four days later I checked my account and saw that groupon charged me the 140 dollars. Even though the app told me it failed, and since it was a booking for a hotel room I missed the day since I was already up there with my other groupon that I had to book on a different account because mine didnt work. And when I told this to customer service they gave me the run around and wont refund me the money, so now I am out 140 because of the app made an error. SO DO NOT USE GROUPON. THEY WILL JUST TAKE MONEY FROM YOU AND NOT CARE.

AVOID Groupon service if not fixed location and national company. Local company offered $50 value cell phone repair for $25, client location within 25 mile radius (6 mo expiration). We had phone needing screen repair, looked at the address online (in standard business mall, not merchant/address we knew) and bought the repair. I work from home, a family member said they would be happy to take the phone there. On calling merchant replied they'd have to check with their supplier re that screen -- we'd already planned trying a do-it-yourself but said would wait to hear & put our screen order on hold. No contact with the merchant, so we went ahead with the cheap screen ordered. When it came we tried the merchant once more -- this was only 3 weeks after purchase of the Groupon. We had agreed to use the screen the merchant supplied, so there should have been no problem. But there was.
His response was "We don't fix just screens here" and then said "It's not worth my time" and that was that. He wouldn't honor the Groupon. Groupon told me when I contacted them first, it was not refundable and second, I should give the merchant's services as a gift. I thought you must be joking -- they just completely blew us off -- and I should offer that to someone else? Meaning, the merchant had my money. But what we found next was even more interesting.
We looked more closely at the merchant's "address." Turns out that while the address exists, the suite numbers listed certainly do not belong to any Anthem Cellular Repair (Anthem is a city north of Phoenix Arizona). No, the suite numbers listed by the merchant in the voucher as their business address belong instead to a UPS store, a discount stylist/barber, a title company and an animal hospital. The next company along is a large national grocery chain store. Some of the names are obscured in by trees when looking online, but a more careful look shows the real names of the businesses.
We also discussed that Groupon clearly did not verify the merchant/merchant address, that the merchant is at minimum therefore lying about the address and who knows what else. The merchant may be suckering others for the $25 like he did us, may be similarly not delivering any service, or poor service, as a person who will fake an address location to such an extent (four? suite numbers instead of just one in an active business location?) is capable of inventing other information -- just as he told my family member he was checking a supplier for the screen for our phone.
I don't mind looking stupid here in putting out this warning, as I want others to be alerted, and I did -- unwisely, as it turns out -- expect Groupon to vet a merchant. I will be highly UNlikely to purchase other items from Groupon after this experience, either events, products or services. Any merchant's basics should be reviewed, and apparently not even this merchant's address was verified. 'Nuf said.

So I called Groupon for a refund and instead they gave me a CREDIT - I specifically said I wanted my money back and NOT another Groupon. I explained that the description of the two styles of support bras were the same, yet the photos indicated quite different products. Both stated "pull-on" and "no metal", yet the very small back-side photo showed what looked like a 4 hook & eye style closure (they're usually metal).
He insisted on getting my email address. I insisted he find the product photo to confirm my suspicions and to have the problem corrected. He said the product company does not take calls and for me to "go with the photo". Since this is a bra, a very personal item, AND I tore my rotator cuff with a previous "pull-on" bra, I declined to proceed without a supervisor that could help correct the problem. When I wanted to leave a review for a business I particularly disliked (Planet Beauty) I discovered that Groupon chooses, with quite a bias toward positive reviews only, which reviews it will or will not post. And I'm not talking about reviews with profanity or threats, but simply offering feedback that is negative regarding a business that Groupon is still selling vouchers for. I'm not saying that Groupon does not have, in fact, good businesses available, it does. But it also represents some pretty terrible ones as well. You could never discover this based on the posted reviews. For the sake of clarification, I will add on my correspondence with them here:
"I went into "subscriptions" and did check the box by "survey." Not sure if that will work retroactively. I have to tell you that I find it somewhat disturbing that you pick and choose which reviews you print. Free speech should be valued over commerce. I can see screening against profane language or threats, perhaps, but I would sincerely hope that you don't weed out one star reviews, only printing 4 or 5 star reviews to further your sales. Frankly, that's what it sounds like. I have seen that happen before: I bought some awful tea that was suppose to do all kinds of health miracles. A big scam. They had reviews, but when I wanted to add my negative ones, they wouldn't post them. What's the point of reviews if you only print the ones that further your cause? Something to be said for the way that Yelp and Amazon allow for all..." (continued in this next email):
"I'm writing to you again as this issue of biased reviews supported by Groupon has really been gnawing at me. Here's the thing: If Groupon's choice of what reviews it prints and which ones it does not is based on helping businesses, in order to help Groupon with its sales revenue, then clearly there is a bias. A big bias. And there is a censorship of free speech promoted by Groupon. I'm aware reading the reviews on Amazon that some reviewers have received products for free or at a discount, but they clearly state that as part of the review. That way, potential customers can read such reviews with added skepticism. Where is your disclaimer that the only reviews published are those that you choose to publish and that your determinations may be based on economic incentives?
"I really had no idea that Groupon combs through its reviews, apparently giving decided preference to positive ones. I have based a goodly portion of my purchases with Groupon upon reading and trusting such reviews. I read them prior to purchasing the Groupon for Planet Beauty, and it was a deciding factor in my purchasing the one for Planet Beauty which turned out to be a really terrible business and a terrible decision. But you unfairly influenced that decision! I have bought for other businesses that were really bad as well, but only had positive reviews up. I remember thinking that the reviewers were crazy. In fact, in at least one other case I contacted Groupon to leave a bad review for that one as well, a Cuban pastry place with decidedly deceptive practices. I believe I was told that I could not as the window to do so had closed, or some such nonsense.
"Now I realize that your reviewing process is apparently deceptive as well: You have reviewers of your own reviewing the reviews and deciding which are posted (all the positive ones) and which are not (all the negative ones). Can you please tell me the percentage of negative reviews that you receive that are actually posted? I'm really questioning the legality of such business practices. I'm wondering how many of your customers know that this is what you do. Maybe I should start posting reviews on Groupon. I've totally lost faith in your company and seriously doubt if I will be purchasing anything more from your company in the future. Talk about "alternative facts!"
I'm grateful for ConsumerAffairs willingness to simply allow consumers to write their own reviews, unedited. I appreciate the support offered for free speech which seems more and more curtailed these days!

The day of the appointment nears and a forecasted ice storm. I call to see if and when we could reschedule, which was going to be another 6 weeks out. I immediately call the number that left a voicemail - no answer and surprisingly enough no voicemail either. I call the company and that number rang and rang and rang. I have had one out of twenty-six purchases which was actually good! Mind you it was a sale on a nail salon, doesn't really count.
Your items will arrive un-named, in a random see-thru bag, from China, no authentic packaging or items, horrific customer service. How has BBB not held them accountable yet? I've done my reading on their 'rights' and my Attorney basically says "Yep. They can sell anything and label it whatever which way they choose." Unbelievable! Oh and here's my favorite part; the "supervisor" (keep in mind they will ALL say they're ALL supervisors) answers me like this... Me: "I'm a bit unhappy with this!" 'SPVSR': "I see here on your account you're unhappy with almost all your purchases!" ...I have never been so furious.
So what's the solution? DELETE your app! DELETE your subscription! DO NOT BUY THRU THEM! They are literally held unaccounted for anything. And Groupon, a majestic pile of poo for condoning and backing up this atrocious way of handling customers. I thought I was purchasing a double ensuite with park views, if you look up their offer on Groupon it's this beautiful picture of Central Park and one of its huge beautiful ponds with buildings in the background. When I get to the hotel, first it's hard to tell that it's a hotel, looks more like a residential building. The staff look like residents who live in the building and rolled out of bed to work their shift, no uniform, no professionalism whatsoever. When I check in they hand me an actual key on a key chain to our room. The hallway floors were filthy and stained. The place looked cheaper and nastier than a motel where prostitution is the real standing business. My view in the room was another wall to the building behind us.
There was no safe in the room. The bed took up 85% of the room. The bathroom was very small, only one person fits in it at a time. My hands which are small took up the whole sink. No cups, no water. And I can go on and on and on. I did not stay the night. I did not feel safe or comfortable. I do not leave the comfort of my home and pay to stay somewhere beneath the standards of my own home. I checked out maybe 2 hours later while I was disputing this disappointment with Groupon which they told me would take some time to investigate. It is about 15 degrees outside and snowing and have to now find other accommodations in the cold.
When I went to check out and expressed my disappointment, the guy at their "front desk" was not a bit surprised, nor did he even try to stop me or accommodate my expectations, simply told me that Groupon would have to refund me my money and did not give me a confirmation that I had checked out. I continue my complaint with Groupon, they give me the runaround asking information they already had like under whose name was the reservation under. This all started January 7th 2017, today is the 12th and they respond via email telling me they were not authorized by the hotel to give me my refund!!!

I own a small company in Dallas, TX and we brand and import products. I recently attempted to list two of these products on Groupon. After a fairly easy and smooth listing I wanted to make a couple tweaks to the posting. Well, each time you make the smallest of tweaks Groupon throws your listing into a 24 hour review process. So, better get it 100% right from the get go! I then waiting 24 hours, the listings were approved... and nothing. I couldn't find our listings on Groupon.com or on their app. I contacted their "merchant support" and they gave me some copy and pasted responses about it taking another 24 hours to index in the system. Ok, that's fine, even though it took them half an hour of "helping me" to finally tell me that.
So, I wait another 24 hours... then 48 hours... then 72 hours... still no listings. I contact their merchant support again and they give me another copy and paste BS answer about how every user experience is tailored to them and unique. I told them that even if I do a search for the exact brand or the EXACT title of the listing nothing comes up. In fact, I had two dozen people in about 10 different cities all over the US attempt to find the product and not a single person could find the listing online or through the app.
I contact their merchant support AGAIN and let them know that no one is able to see the listing and there must be something wrong. They copy and paste the first response for me and tell me I should clear out my cookies from the browser (I already did this, and it had been nearly a week at this point). I eventually figured out that the ONLY way to see the listing was using Firefox on a computer. There is absolutely no other way to see the listing. So, I let Groupon know what I discovered and that there must be some sort of bug in their system with the product listings. I get the exact same copy and pasted response. I rip them a new one at this point and tell them I'm trying to help them by pointing out what is clearly a flaw in their programming and they have zero interest in hearing about the issue. They continue to tell me the listing is live and that I should promote it. I ask them "how?" because no one can find it if I do promote it?
After an hour of talking with them I discover they haven't even looked at my products during the "help" session or looked at the account. So, they have zero idea what's going on because all they are doing is giving me stock answers that have nothing to do with the issue. It's like a politician answering pointed questions from a journalist. Avoid and deflect and don't answer the question. Give stock answer and repeat on the talk shows.
I would highly recommend if you are a business owner to completely avoid Groupon. They will waste your time and your money. As I talked with other merchants I've heard nothing but horror stories about late payments, no payments, Groupon charging the merchant for the promotions THEY run. They're horrible. Avoid Groupon.

The other set of Diamonds is supposed to be 1.5 carats and the appraisal came back at 1.30 carats. I have the receipts from Groupon and appraisal with me if needed to be provided. If I would have not done the appraisal I would have been stuck with these Diamonds that are not what I supposedly paid for.

As per checking on the redemption instructions you just need to present it at the location of the vendor. Once you're there no need to set an appointment.'
It's clear they are completely ignoring/avoiding the issue since the problem is that I am not able to contact them! If I could this would be a moot point. It's clear they take no responsibility for the vendors they back. The fact that Groupon is the face for these Vendors and allow them the freedom to provide poor customer service without backing THEIR customer and THEIR brand is an extremely terrible business practice. When I voiced my complaint to them they asked me to take it up with Groupon as that is what the fine details should indicate.
I called Groupon and described the discrepancy and they said if no refund is requested within 3 days that a refund cannot be given. They would not hear any further concerns or complaints from me and decided the issue to be resolved. I will no longer be purchasing further products from Groupon. I first started using Groupon a couple months ago when I discovered a mystery comic book t-shirt pack for cheap on there. I was like "sure, why not?" The shirts were of very high quality and quality selection of design. I was hooked. I ordered more stuff on there. Some cheap earbuds that I quickly lost track of because of how disorganized I am, some pairs of shorts, more shirts, a very fine and mystery selection of comic books. There was a lot of them in the pack for the price, I was pleased. I also bought a refurbished iPhone 6 for very cheap and have been using it for 3 months now and it works great. However until recently, I noticed the site was not without flaws.
First of all, there is no way to check reviews on almost any of the products so an item being a good deal or too good to be true is anyone's guess. This is particularly strange because you can rate items and write reviews. Where those reviews go, who knows? This wasn't a problem until recently I ordered some phone accessories. A charging case and an anti gravity case. The charging case works as desired, no complaints there. The anti gravity case though was an overpriced gag on the buyer. First of all the case is worth $3 on eBay. The same exact case that Groupon is selling for $10. That's more than 3x the price. Also it barely sticks to the walls of my house, it only sticks to some even though they are all the same smooth texture and material.
It only guaranteedly sticks to windows/glass. The rest is a gamble if you would let your phone drop to the floor. As a case, it works good. It absorbed the shocks when my phone impacted against the ground after failing to stick to the wall. Good thing it was carpet though. In all, though I have more to be happy than sad about. After many purchases, this is their first hiccup with me. I gambled for an iPhone and I got an iPhone. I gambled for 2 very cool phone cases but only got 1. I consider myself one of the lucky ones.

Let's be clear—I have ordered a couple dozen products/deals from Groupon over the past few years. Some have been of good value while others have been nicely dressed junk. When it comes to actual, physical products, I find that Groupon is a peddler of stuff most other places can't sell. Honestly, I feel the best things to purchase from Groupon are discounted tickets and restaurant deals. If you already plan on going those places, the reduced prices are nice. Otherwise, I'd avoid them after what I've gone through recently.
Once an item is purchased, delivery can be sketchy. Case in point: I ordered a set of blackout curtains for my daughter for Christmas. Don't ask me why she wanted them so badly, but she did. Being of modest means, this would entail the majority of her presents from us as parents, so we were relying on this coming through for us. Buying them Dec. 11th, delivery was slated to be around the 18th to 20th. On the 22nd, I started to worry a bit, so I contacted Groupon. Getting hold of Groupon's contact info is a bit tricky and takes some searching, but I finally got through to them after waiting for 45 minutes.
All I ever heard from their customer support folks was that they weren't sure where the package was even though it was showing up as delivered in their system. They had difficulty finding my email address (as others have mentioned), the background of their support center was chaotic, and the phone connection was horrible. After repeating myself over and over, the lady pretending to help me finally looked up delivery info.
FedEx said the product was delivered in the final stage by USPS, but nobody could explain why the box was not actually at my home. We had 2+ people at the home both days they thought it was delivered and our dog goes bonkers when someone even approaches our doorstep. Groupon's solution? Give me a refund if it doesn't show up the day before Christmas. Okay, so I get my money back, I get it. But the day before Christmas when I was ordering online to avoid the madness? Not cool. This level of shady business is not alright in my books. I will now begin the search for another company that handles its issues more promptly without screwing up major gift-giving.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM GROUPON. The month of December has been a horrible experience with Groupon Goods! I have a flood of concerns and recommend to all DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. I will start with this last situation that is just unconscionable that any reputable company would allow to happen. Advertised was a Michael Kors WOMEN'S classic watch. The first sku number on the initial listing was different than when a selection was made but the description remained Women's classic. What arrived was a huge watch when compared to my other women's classic was very different. I decided to research the sku number of my selection and it indeed is a MEN'S watch. The sale on the site was final sale but what I received was not what was advertised.
Groupon chat said they needed pictures and asked me to reply to an email. I sent my concern with various pictures of what was advertised. Their response to the email indicated it was a final sale and I should read the fine print. THAT IS FALSE ADVERTISING. I have not faith or trust that what you are reading to make your purchase decision is truthful nor correct. I will NOT be purchasing from them using my hard earned money.
Of course this is only the last issue. If you order multiple quantities of a product VERY RARELY does the correct number of items get to you. But customer service says "our records show that the package was delivered. You need to reach out to the delivery company." I irately responded that FedEx does not fulfill the order they deliver. Now I have credit to use in items I am unsure will be 1) what I intended to order and/or 2) actually arrive to me. STAY FAR AWAY FROM GROUPON. Use Amazon. At least their customer service reads your issue and responds with solution that fit your concern. Groupon copies and pastes verbatim what is on their site regardless if it fits the concern you are trying to address.

I'm adding my two cents because I can see most people come here with complaints. I was searching for info on Groupon's g-pass ticket system and it lead me here. I have been a Groupon customer for nearly ten years. In all that time I've only had two bad experiences. We purchased a $6 discount Groupon for a local business and they don't seem to be in business anymore. Groupon will not respond or refund our money. It's not a huge deal because, hello? It's $6. But the problem is the deal is still offered when you look it up.
We had a bad experience with a specific business that did some yard work for a friend. We purchased a Groupon for her for her birthday because she had some health issues and had been unable to do her own yard work. The company wouldn't return phone calls, charged her extra on top of the Groupon, and did a horrible job. I filed a formal complaint with Groupon but again, I notice they are still offering the deal on their site.
Despite those two incidents we have had nothing but fun with our Groupon deals. We frequently buy discount meals for local restaurants (Typically "$20 for $16" or something like that). I've also purchased Old Navy discounts in the past (Although beware! You cannot make returns and get your money back. If you return the items you've lost your money. It's complicated). But by far we have had more positive experiences than negative. I even had one company extend the expiration date because we completely forgot we had purchased it. Always read the fine print, but in general you can get good deals if you use local deals (I've never purchased a product from them, so I cannot speak to that experience. And from what I can tell so far I would stay away from the "g-pass").

When I first opened my business I contacted Groupon to set up an account. I was very surprised extreme price of using the system but thought I should try it for 3 months. Fees are not what they say. I offer a $100.00 service for 50% off. Now, I am at $50.00. Groupon takes 50% and now I am at $25.00, but they also charge fees so I was getting about $21.00. My service providers make 50%. If they agree to accept a Groupon, that would be a $25.00 charge for me to pay them. In other words, I have to pay $14.00 per client.
Groupon offers refunds after clients receive services. I had clients come in and either make up stories, complain because they did not follow the directions, complain because they missed their appointment. One couple got their money back because I refused to sexually service the men. Groupon fails to notify the business if there is a complaint. I found out that I had 6 refunds provided without my knowledge in a few month. I knew each case and I had either offered free upgrades to the client or provided a reasonable solution.
For example: One woman was not aware of a medical condition that she had. During the course of the service, it became apparent that she was not properly diagnosed. I modified the service as soon as she said there was an issue. The next day, her boyfriend called and said she was in extreme pain. This only happens to people with a specific medical condition and I had already referred her to an MD. She did not know about her condition (at least she said to me). When they left my office, they were both happy, until her soreness the following day. I did everything medically and ethically correct. Groupon did not contact me and gave both of them refunds. That was a total of 3 hours that I worked without pay.
Groupon THREATEN TO SUE me for refusing to start a second voucher with my other company. I had a $140.00 service that cost $40.00 to provide (before payroll). Groupon harassed me for months so I finally decided to listen to a proposal. They tried to use fancy words to confuse me into thinking I was getting $35.00 per service. BUT that was only in the case that someone purchase a pack of 6. Groupon was actually offering to pay me less than $15.00 per service. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I cannot afford to offer that service. Then the sales rep started to follow me on social media and send communication via social media, emails, and phone calls. This went on for two months.
The sales rep lied about how Groupon works. Anyone that pays $25.00 for a service is not going to pay $140.00. Less than 1% of Groupon people return. Some returning members I have asked to leave my company because they demanding, unreasonable, and not worth my time. I only agree to work with Groupon for that 1% of people that are nice (my number one goal is to service nice people). After I had both verbally said no several times and wrote several emails explaining why I would not accept the deal, Groupon's rep said she was going to send me to their legal team because I was verbally harsh and threatening. Without knowledge, they blocked my original company. A company that was not even involved with the service they were pushing for.
My deal ended up lasting a few years because they never shut it off. I had a 5 star rating with zero complaints until the day they cut off my deal. They received a 1 star because the woman no-called-no-showed her appointment and did not want to pay the fee. (FYI - Since the deals ended, there are no more fees for no-shows or canceled appointments because it never happens anymore.) Groupon is nothing more than an economical bully that is pushing small businesses around. They have a monopoly on their voucher system. There is zero competition for small business. Running local print ads is pointless. It's a real ** to have such a huge company squishing your business.

Yet fortunate in time to reship at our expenses as I had to put in a different parcel along with an extra item in the package. Then dawned to me, sees many of numerous complaints. I told the missus to shop somewhere else after seeing the one star here on this Consumer affairs site. Nice going Groupon!!

I googled the name of an exercise studio in my city, first thing that came up was a Groupon. I purchased the group for exercise classes. A week and half later went to the studio to take a class, and discovered the groupon was for a different city, over 100 miles away. I called groupon to explain what happened and they refused to refund or credit the amount of money I spent. There is no way for me to use this groupon and they continued to refuse refund.

Ever try to contact Groupon customer support? Chat is always down. Phone number is always busy and never get a call back. Now the latest email trick... When you email Groupon, their customer support based in India, always claims they can't find your email/username in the system, yet I am able to log in daily with it no problem. I keep telling them to retry since it works yet conveniently it never works for them even when asking the most general question that is not account specific, just another sneaky trick to avoid helping customers. This company is a complete scam and should be shut down!

I can't even begin to describe the amount of issues that plagued my interactions with this company. I ordered three items (which were gifts) during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, totaling around $100. I realized almost immediately that the mobile app automatically uses the last shipping address as the current shipping address (without giving you a prompt) so I went in and fixed the shipping address well within their 2 hour period. However, 2 of the 3 items were still being sent to the wrong place. I knew the address change had gone through because it was fixed for one of them.
Now was where the nightmare begin. First I emailed them two to three times, didn't really get a response, just copy/paste statements on their shipping policies. Ok fine, I went ahead and called their customer service and they weren't able to fix it either. Just ended up cancelling the order for me. Told me that they checked the other items and fixed the addresses on those and that I shouldn't have the old address on my profile anymore. Great, I still need to find another gift but at least the other items fine.
Now came the second item that was supposed to be shipped to the corrected address -- nope! This time I tried their online chat which was even more useless than the emails. One lady told me to call FedEx, I called FedEx and they said they can't fix it. Chatted with another lady that transferred to me to the supervisor that gave me the number for DHL (which was not the correct company). After wasting my time with that, told me there's nothing she can do for me. So I called them again on the phone, and for the third time they wanted me to call the carrier (FedEx), after I have already explained multiple times that that does not work! This time they won't even cancel the order even after all that.
I am so done with this company. If you are even tempted to order from this company, don't do it. Just go with Amazon or someone else with good customer service. Now I am out $100, missed all the Black Friday sales (because I ordered from them instead of spending my money elsewhere), wasted a lot of time trying to fix this, and still have no gifts ordered for Christmas.

When I originally started using Groupon several years ago, it was an excellent company that provided a great service. Groupon provides deals for local businesses, which gave me a great opportunity as a customer to explore local businesses that I previously knew nothing about. Furthermore, it obviously provided the opportunity for the businesses to get new customers. Whenever I had problems with the deals I had purchased, the company provided excellent customer service to remedy the issue.
Now, unfortunately, Groupon has developed some severely bad business practices. Groupon routinely does not place limits on the number of deals a business can offer, even when the business cannot possibly accommodate that number of deals. For example: I purchased a deal for a 1-hour massage, and when I called the business to book my massage appointment, they told me that they have no openings for the next 8 months! My Groupon deal EXPIRES in 3 months!
Now, Groupon has this policy that if you make the appointment before the expiration, then the offer is still valid. If however, you have a problem like I do, with being able to schedule a massage appointment 8 MONTHS down the road and keeping it, then you're out of luck. I made the appointment, but something important came up for work, I could not keep the appointment, and the deal expired. I still have not redeemed it, and cannot redeem it, because it is expired.
Groupon also has this policy that "the value of your Groupon never expires." That is a false statement. The "value" of your Groupon deal is the price of a 1-hour massage, but after the deal expires, you can only apply the AMOUNT YOU PAID for the purchase of a massage. So, if I bought a $40 massage that normally costs $120, but because the company providing the massage could not get me an appointment in a reasonable time-frame, the deal expired, now all I get is a $40 credit towards a $120 massage. I have to pay the additional $80 just to get the value of the $40 back that I initially paid. THAT IS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR.
I have tried numerous times to contact Groupon on this issue, but they simply do not care. They do not provide any restrictions on how many deals a business can offer, even if it is COMPLETELY CLEAR that the business cannot follow through with all of those purchases. Furthermore, even after multiple customer complaints about this, Groupon STILL will not restrict the number of deals being sold to unwitting customers who are never going to get the product they paid for. It is a complete SCAM by the businesses in collaboration and complete cooperation with Groupon. They do not provide the services offered at the prices listed, and they do not compensate for their customers being scammed in this way.

Have had many issues with Groupon over the years and every time their customer service has been lousy. Their favorite words are "sorry, but we can't do anything" to help. They have overcharged, failed to provide a refund when a business is closed and done just about everything but provide a fair customer service experience. This is one of those companies that just want to take your money and then say "screw you"!

I ordered a men's diamond ring but I never even open the box. I went right to the Post Office and returned the item on 11/25/16. I rec'd an email from Groupon stating that they rec'd the information from the PO that the item was being returned. I called on 12/13/16 to inquire on my refund and of course, they claim they have until 12/16/16 to obtain the item. Yet, when they took my $365 the same date of purchase and sent the package to my home within 5 days. I spoke to a Customer Service Rep that barely spoke or understood English. I asked for a Supervisor, whom barely spoke English and he stated that Groupon has up until 12/16/16 to obtain the item and then they will process the refund which could take another 10 days.
I express my disbelief that Groupon did not already received the package back and why is it going to take almost a month to obtain my full refund back. He could not answer my question but he was quick to advise me to read Groupon's terms. I informed him that all I wanted was my $365 back into my account and after I obtained the refund, I will not deal with Groupon again. He appeared to be reading from a script and appeared too careless about an unhappy consumer.

I had 2 bad experiences with Groupon in 2 weeks. My first experience was an order in placed for 3 items. A change of address was completed during checkout; however, they sent 2 out of the three items to my old place of employment. When I contacted customer service about their error, they expected me to contact my old job to retrieve the items although it was their error. I only received a refund for one item after several chats and emails.
The second order was placed accidentally off items I left in my cart for later. I cancelled the order within 5 minutes (I had 2 hours per their website). They still charged my card and shipped to the wrong address after I was told the order was cancelled. I was also told that I had to contact Fedex although it was their error. Fortunately I was able to contact the post office and spoke to the mail carrier to return the package. He even wondered why a package would be sent where I no longer work. I'm still waiting on my refund. I have made purchases from Groupon since 2013. I will NEVER purchase from Groupon again because of this incident. Customer service is a joke and I will tell others of my horrible experience.

How can sale be final, when the deal is not honored. Wasted 3 weeks on email and contacting support, finally gave it up. Not worth to waste time for mere $10, but left a bad experience with Groupon. I recently ordered items from Groupon. Out of four items, so far I have issues with two. One package is in "dead mail" at the USPS because the sender never put my house number on the package and the senders address is not correct. The other is just in limbo. After speaking to SEVERAL representatives, from overseas, and being on hold for a few hours total, the issue has yet to be resolved. My first call to Groupon's representative, I was informed after calling the USPS to see the delivery status, I would be able to call back and have the items resent to me without an issue, which was NOT the case. After follow up calls and being told different things by each person, I asked to speak to a supervisor.
The "supervisor" Jerald assured and reassured me over and over that he was resending the packages out as we spoke and in an expedite manner. He also gave a $5 groupon bucks to my account for the inconvenience, which the Bucks were received. He informed me I would get an email in a couple days with the tracking number. After a couple days, and not receiving an email, I called back yet AGAIN and spoke to another representative. I was now informed that department can NOT reissued products and the ticket number from the "supervisor" call had notes that didn't even pertain to our conversation.
I was informed a refund might be given back to me and if so, for me to order the product again. I wouldn't have an issue if I could purchase the items at the cyber Monday sale price, which I can not. On my latest conversation with a representative I was informed an email was sent to a higher customer service department which has access to reissue items and I should relieved an email in 24-72 hours. I tried to call Groupon head quarters, however the line is always busy. After over a week of calls and lies, I wouldn't doubt if the Chicago "headquarters" is another scam.
Not only are the representative liars and inadequate to do their jobs correctly, they do NOT know the first thing about courtesy and professionalism!! From the many calls I had to make, I was on hold for long periods of time just to have someone come back to put me back on hold again for another time period. One representative had actually put me on hold for 15 minutes (third hold of the call, came back on the line and while she talking disconnected the call (clever!)). As of now, I am still out of my money and have no products.

As a Groupon merchant and one of their top sellers, I have to say that this was a mediocre marketing company who currently owes me $21,000 for earned income via expired vouchers. I had to relocate to a different area and most massage clients kept their vouchers. I would then give them a home visit. There are 3 kinds of consumers that purchase Groupons: 1. The low socioeconomic person that if they find what they are looking for they return as a customer and purchase the service directly from the merchant. 2. The professional who wants to try a new service and returns to purchase the service from the merchant. 3. The very cheap and frugal person who just wants a cheap massage and then runs out the back door without tipping.
Groupon was great when they first opened but they kept changing their payment plans for the merchant. In the beginning, after sales were final. They would pay the merchant a lump sum. After 6 months of business with them, they began paying us bi-weekly. Then they changed again breaking up the payments into smaller amounts leaving the Earnings last on the payment list until vouchers expire to only pay the merchant the balance of what was sold. Currently, the company changed the website so the earnings are no longer visible online. Why is that? What are they hiding? I believe they may be cooking their books on a global level and the merchant is robbed from their earnings. Currently looking for merchants who are facing the same issues to begin a class action lawsuit.

I'm not sure what tactics Groupon salespeople use to get these small businesses on their platform but they need to be more selective. This is the second Groupon I have not been able to use in a row even though I followed the terms listed in their agreement. Groupon is refusing to refund the amount.

So today 12/7/16, I wake up to an email stating they are refunding me and it may take up to 10 DAYS with my bank. WHAT?! These things were on sale for black Friday! I did not buy them elsewhere because Groupon kept sending me ONE day sales. NOW I'm not getting them?! WILL NEVER shop here again. I purchased a Groupon certificate and due to issues with the business owner, I am unable to use it before the expiration date. I emailed Groupon and I was told, no problem. I could exchange it at any time, just let them know. I have been emailing them for almost 2 weeks and they are dragging their feet, not responding, asking the same questions and purposely won't expedite this exchange. The Groupon expires in January and when I attempted to email a different person, I was told I cannot exchange after it expires. Well, isn't that fantastic. This was bought for my fiancé's 50th birthday and I've been trying to exchange it, so he still receives a gift and I'm not out almost $80. They are running me in circles and I cannot get anyone to respond and get this matter taken care of. I have all the emails, stating I can exchange, no problem. Funny, they are just waiting for the certificate to expire in a few weeks.
This is completely unethical and I have ordered many things from them and referred many people to them. No more. This is beyond frustrating. I am on disability, with MS and don't have an extra $80 for Groupon to cheat me out of. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, anymore. Purchased a breakfast voucher from Groupon to an establishment in Las Vegas on a recent trip in November 2016. Twice we visited the restaurant to find that they were closed for business. On our return home I contacted Groupon to see if they could refund our money. After several attempts to contact the merchant they were unsuccessful but Groupon said they could not issue a refund until they confirmed that the business was closed. Doesn't it make sense that if they could not establish contact after two weeks that the business is closed? The coupon is only $20 so I am not upset about the money. I am upset about Groupon's lack of customer support. They are a terrible company and customer support is pathetic.
