I have been an Angie's List member for several years. This year I went to print my contractor's "Coupon" for $25 only to find it was a dead link. I check other contractors and their coupons were also dead links. I tried going to their "Customer Service Dept" and guess what? Yep...just one more DEAD LINK. Ok Angie, I get the message... Bye Bye.

I needed several trees trimmed. Angie's List recommended 4 companies. I called all 4 and set up appointments with them. None of them showed up or called to explain why. I went back to Angie's list and tried 3 more. The 3 others never returned my calls. It's ridiculous that out of 7 listed on the site, none responded.

DO NOT ENROLL INTO ANGIE'S LIST! Out of my top 5 worst mistakes I’ve ever made list, joining Angie's list would be at number 2... First mistake would be taking my ex back. They sweet talking you, telling you that in your area there’s a lot of job requests for your type of business. And then the rep. (major **) told me I would be paying $300 a year on advertising. I asked him three times to make sure I was hearing correctly (it did sound too good to be true). Ok so, I agree (like a dumb **) and give my payment information a month goes by and I get two horrible leads.

That same month WHAM!!! I was charged $300 dollars again! So, I furiously called Angie's list because of course that’s not what I was promise. Again they try to sweet talk you into staying (just like my ex) and I said “HELL NO!” for once. Anyways (let’s shorten this up a bit) I cancelled my membership and now I’ve been hit with an EFT bill of $1,050.00 for cancelling a year contract that not even my big-eared grandfather had ever heard of. PLEASE DONT BE LIKE ME. Be wise my fellow business owners!

As a contractor on Angie's List they charge too much for leads and I have to raise my rates to make money, They withdraw money from my account without notification. They set up my service area to suit themselves and not me, which results in unhappy customers when they find out they are out of my service area. I waste time being on the phone talking with customers trying to calm them down just so I don't get a bad review for not coming to their house which may one or two hours away. You cannot cancel the subscribtion when you want and their attitude is oh well. Very unprofessional.

Through Angie's List's free service, I found an A-rated appliance repair for my washer and refrigerator. I had made an appointment when perhaps an hour later I received a call from a man who misrepresented himself as a technician working for the A-rated competitor I had just hired as such gained access to my home. He claimed that dispatch was sending him earlier because he was in the area. He also overcharged and did not finish the repairs correctly, but that was not something I knew until the legitimate repair service arrived at my house.

I have turned this case over to the Nevada Attorney General's office, to investigate the business practices of Tony **, who at the time was a C-rated contractor on Angie's List. Unwittingly, Angie's List gives crooks like Tony ** the contact information of potential victims and the pretense to use it. They have since removed this particular crook from their database of "Trusted Partners," but upon looking into it I found 10 prior bad reviews on Tony ** from other Angie's List users. Evidently, it takes Angie's List a year or so to catch up on current events and not refer the Tony ** of the world to consumers.

I am unhappy that 1) to see possible service providers, I must provide my phone number and 2) that Angie's List apparently immediately provide those numbers to service providers resulting in 3) unsolicited calls from the providers. Further, there appears to be no way to complain with Angie's List about this practice. That's why I sought out this web site. Prior to 8:00 am today, I decided to look at who cleaned gutters in my area. Most of those identified did not clean gutters but sold replacement gutters or gutter covers. I decided that was a wasted search. At 8:04 am, I got a phone call from a salesperson with one of the companies on Angie's List. I had a subscription to Angie's List back when you had to pay for them. I'd stopped using it but a painter who had done a good job for us asked if I would provide a review. I joined again to do so. I'm once again DONE with Angie's List. I don't think it engages in good consumer practices.

I hired some movers that were recommended by Angie's List. They stole from me and then refused to answer my calls. When I asked Angie's List to get involved they said they'd be happy to contact the company I'd hired...if I became a member. Which is $100/year. I asked them why they advertised companies if they weren't going to take responsibility for the people they vouch for. They shrugged their shoulders and reminded me they'd be happy to contact the company I hired for $100. I am disabled and I rely on the integrity of places like Angie's List to recommend trustworthy companies. Several police reports, calls to UTC, and threats later I finally have my items back. No thanks to Angie's List. Stay FAR away from these people.

Our company tried Angie's List. We were 'convinced' that we would get LOTS of leads, we would have been happy with only a few. We got reviews from past customers, allowed our rep to adjust things and lo and behold after two months and LOTS of time and effort and MONEY paid, we received ZERO leads in the area where we wanted leads. Plenty of leads that were worthless. DON'T waste your money or time with them. They sound great and have great salespeople BUT.. they do not perform and are great with excuses when they don't perform. By the way Homeadvisor owns Angie's List. Interesting. STAY AWAY. YOU WILL GET BURNED. They even had the nerve to attempt to charge me a termination fee when we canceled. TOTAL NON performance on their part.

This is the least customer-friendly company I have ever worked with in 30+ years of buying advertising. For over 10 years I have been fed a constant stream of crap from a revolving door of account reps about how their latest and greatest new program was going to be fantastic, revolutionize the market place, and result in more leads. Instead, leads have gone down and cost have gone up way beyond simple ordinary rate of inflation or the increase in "paying" members. Even though advertising businesses provide the bulk of the revenue for them and are the backbone in which they rest upon, they treat us like marks, assuming because we are small business owners we must be ignorant of best and current business practices.

This is not sour grapes on our part either - we actually are a well-rated company on Angie's List. But we are second class citizens with few rights compared to the reviewers. Our inability to combat false or terms violating policies is ridiculous. And curiously enough, how they have used fear as a sales tactic, telling advertisers that they will lose grandfathered or bulk pricing rates if they hold off on renewing all or part of their contracts is reminiscent of the Yellow Page bullying that occurred in times past. If we treated our customers the way Angie's List treats us, we would be a ZERO star rated company. This is a 2 star review overall because leads are still provided, albeit at a very costly rate comparatively. And much, much fewer for the dollar than in the past.

The "list" that Angie Hicks became famous for is a thing of the past and never to be repeated again. Service Magic, a referral service that had long been in the business of selling leads to service providers, hijacked her list and began pedaling the names of those service providers to consumers. But as time would have it, Service Magic re-invented itself as Home Advisor and hit the scene with massive exposure advertising FREE use of their services to consumers. This was a direct affront to Angie's List and paying members soon quit paying because Home Advisor supposedly provided the same services for free. In her weakened state, Angie Hicks soon realized that it was impossible to maintain her exclusive model for connecting consumers with quality service providers so with the "handwriting on the wall", Home Advisor bought out Angie's List for a very tidy sum in May 2017.

They immediately began transforming the original Angie's List model into the Home Advisor model that was free to consumers but very costly to service providers through the old pay-per-lead method. However, the pay-per-lead method destroyed the very thing that made Angie's List unique and wildly successful to both consumers and service providers. We have been on Angie's List through all of this (15 years or so) and it pains me to say it is only a shell of what it once was. Consumers are groomed to "trust" Angie's List to connect them with quality service providers but are often terribly disappointed with the results.

Service providers now have to pay outrageous dollars just to get a lead whether it results in a job or not. There is MUCH more that we can say about these things but time and space do not permit. IMO, it is extraordinarily sad to see Angie Hicks promoting Angie's List on TV when it is nothing at all like the list she started 20 years ago. No doubt, Home Advisor required the use of her face and endorsement as part of the purchase agreement. In a sense, Angie Hicks sold her soul.

I was looking into Angieslist and talked to a sales guy who could not finish my account and make a website etc.

My girlfriend looked at what they said was my website and it had my name with a phone number that is not mine, funny they can get the correct # regarding my paying them but placing my ad they used some number not mine and started billing me for what is my name, the wrong phone number and no customer reviews and rated NA while every one else had colorful site with actual phone numbers glowing reviews and rated A. Why would anyone call my ad compared to theirs and if they did they would never reach me anyways. I made the biggest mistake and extremely costly; over $30,000.00, using Angie's List to find a reputable contractor. Angie's List boasts checking out the companies it recommends on the site. There are great customer reviews. I have tried to contact Angie's List to let them know about the horrible company I used through Angie's list. Everlast Construction is the worst company. Please do not use them. I can show photos of a finished product that does not look professional at all.

It took 6 months to complete what I was told would most likely take one month. I dealt with a very inexperienced and rude project manager who lied to me constantly. The workers they use are contracted and do not actually work for the company but are hired at a very low pay according to one of the workers I spoke to who actually understood English, to complete the job once the "project manager" gets the contract signed and the money!!! Some days the workers did not show and no one informed us whether they were coming or not and the workmanship was unbelievably the worst. Angie's List never responded when I wrote to complain and let them know about Everlast Construction the company that Angie's List is recommending to the public.

I'm an inground pool owner. My story involves 2 contractors... Bob, owner of Prestige Pools and Oscar, owner of Oscar's Pool Service. In 2017 Bob's company was hired to re-marcite and correct my pool's walls and floor finish which felt more like 60-grit sandpaper. Bob's company subbed out the corrective re-marcite work... which also failed by startup of the 2018 season. Bob and his company (Prestige Pools) stepped up and contracted to have this faulty Marcite app corrected. 2019 is where Oscar's Pool Service comes in. I could not be more pleased with Oscar and his crew. To a man they were professional, knowledgeable, courteous and methodical in their approach to correcting my pool's faulty finish. In closing, I would strongly recommend both companies. They both are stand-up ethical business entities that operate with a sense of fairness and integrity doing their work as though they were doing it for themselves.

They put only 1 coat of stain on the 3 decks and only offered to refund $200 for not providing the 2nd coat (stated manufacturer recommended 1 coat).

After the deck dried it was clear that numerous areas were not adequately covered and I called Erik Land the owner to apply the 2nd coat as quoted. I recently reopened my father's business after he passed. So Angie's List reached out with a promise of using their name recognition to help drive business my way. Once I signed up I was dumped to a client success representative. After three weeks I still hadn't had a orientation call to show me how to properly use the program. I then asked to just cancel me out since they haven't done anything. I was told I locked into a year long contract (which I was never told about) and it would cost me 35% of that to cancel even thought they broke the agreement. I asked for a supervisor and after him trying to play hardball and him even threatening to just take the cancellation fee out of my account since they had an EFT agreement (which I stated on a record line that I was revoking and any further EFT attempts would be treated as theft.) We came to an agreement.

Once we agreed he said a new client success representative would call that day or the next. Well a week went by no contact so I call the supervisor back. 15 min later I get a call from my new client success representative. I told him I wanted to hear from the supervisor not him so he finally called me and yet again apologized for their incompetence. I told him no I was just cancelling. He said he would call me tomorrow to give me the cancellation info. He then waited until 5pm the next day to tell me they would waive the cancellation fee and cancel the contract. But yet he wait until that time so the next EFT would be withdrawn. At this point the supervisor will not return my calls and they have stolen money from me.

The problem came when he said the codes had changed regarding the microwave over stove distance required. He said the cabinets needed to be raised to meet today's code & assured us he could do the work. Silly me. I thought I could expect he actually knew what he was doing. He did not.

He didn't bother to measure properly & left the cabinets uneven & noticeably so in a several places. In addition, he didn't allow enough room above our refrigerator to place a taller one than was there at the time. He also had to remove all the molding over the cabinets leaving them looking obviously unfinished at the top. Bottom line, we paid him $1000 we hadn't budgeted for the cabinet debacle & ultimately had to bring in professional cabinet installers to correct all the problems he caused that cost us an additional $3900!! I was so surprised that they even cleaned the shower walls & dusted the blinds too! Vacuumed the rugs & mopped all the tile floors, dusted everything in the house & polished the furniture too. I really recommend these ladies, I am sure you would be pleased with them, as I always thought I was a good housekeeper & very picky too. So if you are in need of having someone clean you house I certainly recommend them. Call: Grace.

I never knew about that. They cover all that information to get you sign and get money from you. He also promised a certain amount of leads per month which is a big huge lie. I got 2 customers in 3 months. They are such liars, then the success manager say, "You got to have reviews and deals and I assure you, you will start getting customers and get your money back." Another huge huge lie.

I don't recommend Angie's List to grow your business, they suck your hard earned money. Don't even get involve with them, STAY AWAY FROM ANGIE'S LIST. In addition, Jeff my consultant came by a few weeks to go over contract/warranty and service paperwork. So all in all know we made the right choice with Harvest Power LLC.

Recording said we have several other ways to reach us, and told me to scroll to the bottom of their website for customer service and send an email (no other option was given). Everything I clicked on did not take me to anything related to sending an email. Are they TRYING to discourage new customers? Any site without phone or chat assistance to people TRYING to join doesn't deserve my business. I have used Home Advisor several times with good results. Good luck to Angie. Hire enough people to adequately service your customers and maybe you won't have to spend as much on television advertising.

Two years ago my neighbors hired a tree service with an "Angie's List" sign on their truck. I have decided to write this review today because every time I look at my 35 y/o butchered live oak tree I can cry. A so called arborist cut my tree down on the entire east side from top to bottom and up to the huge truck... Yes, they even topped the tree which is illegal in my city. My tree is completely flat on the east side! My once beautiful, 35 y/o majestic Live Oak tree that I called "my avatar tree" has been reduced to a butched mess. All branches from top to bottom and up to the trunk on the east side of the tree have been removed and branches were left laying in my backyard.

Live Oak trees are a very slow growing tree and it will take years for the damaged tree to grow back, if ever. No licensed or respectable arborist would have acted in such a very irresponsible manner, even under the direction of an irresponsible client and horrible neighbors!!! As far as I am concerned, Angie's List is a good intention gone very wrong!!! I called the police to stop the tree service from completing the task before I left but on another day when I wasn't home, someone returned and completed the job of butchering my beautiful tree. The arborist was actually standing IN MY TREE, in my fenced-in backyard, on my side of the yard, butchering my beloved tree!!! I urge you to limit your interactions with Angie's List companies and do your homework if you choose to use Angie's services.

During that first month, I did not receive any calls and manager told that it's impossible any quotes without review. So go and fix fridge to your friends or neighbor then send them link form AngiesList and after you may get a quote... That's absolutely unexpected and unprofessional. They charge me for 300$ in a second and only after two weeks told me about that.

When I asked them to cancel agreement they told me I was locked into a 1-year contract at a rate of $300 per month. So in order for me to cancel service with them, I need to pay 35% of the unused contract for a total amount of $1043. With not even one single job or quote $1043 cancellation fee. When I asked manager why they have so high fee she said because of responsibilities to investors. I don't understand why I have to pay money to their investors? Why I just can't get a refund and cancellation for unsatisfied services with this scam company. I hope that info can be helpful for new business. I was sold by a salesman!!! I am a contractor with HomeAdvisor. Going on my 10th year with them. 67 reviews with a 4.76 star rating. Angie's List contacted me and sounded like they would get me clients but would save me a lot of money over HomeAdvisor. I was told lol that I needed to give him some clients' names and number so he can get me up to 5 reviews, I said, "Oh that's easy," by the time I got to 4 he stopped me and said, "Just send this link to your clients and have them respond and we will get your site up and running with just 5 reviews and you will start getting jobs...." Not even close to true.

I sent the link to maybe close to 20 clients and several of them text me back and said DONE. However none of them never showed up on my site. I tried several times to contact Angie's List about that problem and that my phone app wasn't working. After speaking with a supervisor and telling them the problem I received a call to fix the problem and that didn't work. 3 months later the salesman calls and is very disrespectful cause he hasn't got paid.

I tried several time to explain that the site and phone app was not working and he really wasn't interested, he just wanted payment so I got his what he said was a supervisor on the phone. I for some reason got the feeling it was just another guy, however he did listen to me and agreed with me and said he understood my aggravation, then he said, "Let's get your payment up to date and then we can see if we can fix the problem."

I said, "That is not how business works, I have been in business for 15 years and I have good reviews because if a client has a problem I fix the problem and then I get paid." I really feel bad for contractors who sign up with them before reading reviews. Because I went on after the salesman was rude on the phone and every time I came across a contractor they had pretty much the same complaints as I did with just 1 star.

It sounded interesting. I then asked if I could use my testimonials from HomeAdvisor and move them to Angie’s List so I wouldn’t look like a newer company having 165 5 * reviews. I was told I could with no problem. My customers could call and transfer their review with no problem. NEVER TELLING ME MY CUSTOMERS WOULD HAVE TO JOIN ANGIE'S LIST AND BE ON THE PHONE FOR 20 MINUTES. I was promised 15-20 leads for my $1000 a month. To date I received 3 of which 2 were nonresponsive.

The 6 customers I had call to transfer testimonials, 4 hung up after being asked to join and the 2 that waited were denied and removed saying they were connected with my company. After 5 days of waiting for a return call from my “assigned manager “ what a double-talking ignorant person, I was told I had been misinformed by either the salesman or Mr Double-talker which I have in writing text form. Needless to say I was told if I cancelled I would be charged $3600 and if I didn’t pay an early cancellation fee I would be turned over for collections. I cancelled my account for false promises and breach of contract. I’ll take my chances and I will sue them in court if I have to. All this in 2 weeks. What a nightmare and a joke. But oh boy I was talked into using a package from them that's 400$ a month and I yet to get a legit call from it 9 reviews later I had one contact me and the lady taught I was Aaron so once I replied she told me she made a mistake. It's beyond me that this company would take my money two weeks prior to schedule payment out my account which is not what was agreed. They claim you can post deals but they are total garbage. You can't even customize your deals.

All you can do is tell them what kind of special you willing to give and the word it and put bogus pictures that don't even look professional. They do bare minimum, take your money and claim you have and account manager for what? To change a number on your deals. I definitely advise companies that are small to NOT use this service. You will not get your money back if you cancel. You will be in collections. It's a total robbery. I'm going to cancel even if it means my credit I could buy a car with this payment. It's unfortunate because I really believed that Angie's List was my answer. Oh boy, was I wrong. I strongly suggest small companies to not use them if they want to grow. Also, the contractors Angie's List they have listed on Angie's List on their website, most of these licensed contractors that I called personally said that they DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO ANGIE'S LIST. Angie's List is a complete scam. I know they advertise on television, this is where I was intrigued by their television commercials.

I put in a request to have different pros from plumbing to general construction remodel and I’ve also used them as a pro contractor. Angie's List is not what it says it is. Their pros in most cases are not licensed. They don’t verify background checks on their members (Contractors). I have been told by many of Angie's List consumers and contractors that some of Angie's List employees are sex offenders. It is a big rip off and a scam. They don’t check licenses for professional contractors which most people should be concerned of hiring a licensed contractor.

If you don’t know if they’re licensed you can go on the state website in your local area and verify any person or business that is licensed and active. There are other sources for leads that are a million times better than Angie's List. As a contractor, I tried them out and I did not get one single lead and it cost me over $3000. Don’t use Angie's List, just because they’re on television doesn’t mean they are a legitimate company. They may be registered as a company in Indianapolis Indiana. However, they are not a good source for leads. There are again, much better companies that charge you a lot less money and will provide you with leads to keep you busy. A member of Angie's List reviewed me, then another and so on. Eventually I was the most reviewed and highest rated contractor in my market (all 5 stars). Angie's List literally HARASSED me. They called me almost every day and sometimes multiple times in one day. They were very pushy and ultimately threatening. They hated that I was getting business and positive reviews organically and not paying them for some sort of preferred vendor status. They were extremely rude to me and would almost ruin my day with how spiteful they were if I wouldn't upgrade and start paying them!

One time when I wouldn't upgrade the sales lady said, "Fine! We'll just close your account!" and she hung up on me. They didn't close my account. They kept calling. Eventually they wanted to "verify" all their contractors and asked for my social security number. Not a chance! The last time I looked they had deleted all the positive reviews that had been posted through their site, and found the only negative review that exists online for me in effort to misrepresent my reputation. I don't need Angie's List. I have more business than I can get to, but I feel the need to share my experience. If you're looking for a quality contractor, don't look at Angie's List!

I have to put in all kinds of information and they will choose a contractor to call me. I wanted to see the list of contractors and what people had to say. Can't do that anymore. It's just a shame that this good company with good service was trashed by HomeAdvisor.

I'm starting a new company in Michigan doing concrete and landscaping. I only have a 6 month work season and limited funds. I have been advertising with Angie's List for one month. I've only had four messages and no jobs landed. The guy who signed me up said I could pay as I go, I just wanted to give it a try and see what it was about. The guy told me numerous times before I gave him my card info that I could pay as I go. I called my Angie's List rep a few days ago and told her that Angie's List was not working out for me and that I would like to stop advertising with them. She told me too bad and that I signed a contract to pay them $300.00 a month for 12 months.

I was in complete shock that a big well known company like Angie's List would actually do this to people. She said if I cancel they will need 35% of my contract immediately! If anyone has had a similar situation with Angie's List then please contact me. A month ago we had a tree that fell on the fence and I try to approach the owner of the fencing company. We had an emergency situation, and like always, the owner never calls back. I finally did reach the owner and he decided to rip me and call me every name in the book the chlorine ** word and tell me to ** off and that he was putting the company up for sale.

He made a large sum of money off us and our fence is destroyed. I noticed on the folder of the company, that they were rated on Angie’s List. If you think Angie’s List is the golden company to base your decision to use a company, I’d think twice with utilizing anything on Angie’s List. I think people better very much be careful on how they select a business just because it’s on Angie’s List because I do not believe they follow up with their customers and they follow up only when they want to. This company doesn’t even allow you to leave messages or even to contact customer service. Maybe that was my first sign both companies have extremely poor customer service and that’s probably the kind of company is Angie’s List takes.

I should have gone with my gut and ran from the salesperson when I first called them. We are a new independent painting company and Angie's List made it sound so easy to get advertising. They never followed up with our prior customers that we contacted and said Angie's List would be calling for a reference. Clients never got calls. AL then told us to reach out directly to our customers via app and have them submit ratings. The same person was published twice and the other 4 who replied never showed. AL said they would do a special ad for us because after 2 weeks, I was done with them and wanted to cancel. So, we worked for hours on a Friday to ensure the ad was displayed over the weekend. I sent them "approved" emails because their automated ad approval service was down.

I get emails on Monday saying I needed to approve the ads, which I figured was just their approval service catching up and I didn't need to approve because I sent the emails. Turns out the ads never ran over the weekend - or at all. I finally cancelled and changed my payment method to a pre-paid debit card, knowing that I was going to fight paying $1500 for 3 weeks of "ads" from them. When the automated payments for cancelling did not go through the pre-paid card, they went back to my initial payment method (debit card) and took the full amount!! I lodged a complaint with my bank, who, after a 90 day investigation, agreed that the money was taken "in Error". Now I need to figure how to to fight them to stop collections action. I refuse to pay $1500 for nothing. Any recommendations are welcome.

I signed up my service company for a one year advertising contract that includes a profile, web ads and access to their call center for prospective clients. A few of our regular clients found us via Angie's List and have developed a trusted relationship with us. However for the amount I invested in AL "special advertising package" which consist of direct advertisement and leads being directed to a call center. The results are not worth my investment. Most leads never respond to my messages, do not take or return my calls, have a "voicemail that is not set up", a BS email address they do not check, in brief: I wonder if AL does not generate their fake leads since they are so many of them.

I have never seen my written advertisement while searching incognito. Operating a service company, I am often on the road and want to avoid having to pick up calls while driving. I was hoping that paying AL to receive calls from consumers would help leads avoid wasting their time shopping around and be redirected to my phone by a live representative, with a pleasant attitude, etc. Instead most lose their patience being re-routed by a computer with an automatic robot-voice, their calls being dropped, or even they be redirected to my competition! They end up treating me very badly when I finally manage my way to the nearest parking lot and take or return their call. VERY frustrating to invest my hard earned money for better customer experience and not even been able to pick up the pieces and bring consumers to trust that I do honest business and I want the best for them!

Each time I called to get help from AL Business Center, I was told 2 things:

    - get more reviews (most of our clients are long terms, I don't bother them with repetitively asking for reviews, they've done it for us once and that's enough).

    - increase my advertising investment in AL (yeah, right!)

I don't think so! Angie's List: you and your sister company HomeAdvisor are on my naughty list!

Now they ask you a series of meaningless questions which have little to do with what you want, which always ends in demanding your personal information. None of it is useful to them or anyone about helping you. It is designed to sell your information or find other ways to harass you. I can't even get an idea of what electricians are out there and what people think of them because I am expected to come up with a project (mostly a stupid project that I would never need), answer meaningless questions that are not useful to finding the provider you need, and then provide your address and phone number. I am better off going to nextdoor.com and asking my neighbors who they like. Angie's List is now a completely useless service, that is not worth accessing for any reason. Mold First Responders recommendation: After having been ill with lung problems for over a year and having had tests done, a specialist said I was exposed to mold. I did not see or smell it but it was there in my kitchen ceiling for a number of years after the tenant above me flooded her kitchen with water from the heating system. First, I had mold testing done by an independent company to confirm the mold. Mold First Responders was the first name on the list their clients had great success with. I phoned Mold First Responders and a person actually answered the phone and explained in detail what they do. I was able to arrange a very early morning appointment for my convenience and Luis and his coworker arrived at exactly the time designated.

They set up their equipment, very carefully covered my floors, rugs, furniture, packed boxes and doorways with protective materials and then came back to remove the mold from the ceiling and walls with microbial cleaner/scrubber. They continued to monitor the rooms for 3 additional days to ensure all the mold spores were removed. I received very detailed information over the phone as to the process they would use and when Luis came, he gave me verbal details of what would be done. I received a comprehensive written estimate with every item listed that would be used during the process. There were no surprises or hidden costs at the end. What was quoted was what I paid.

The men were polite and respectful and true to their word. They showed each day at the time agreed upon and left my home in spotless condition. They deliver what they promise – they do it right and do it once. I rehired the original company to retest the work done and now have a house that’s safe to live in and could be sold without issue. I also had them demo the ceiling in the bathroom where they removed seven bags of plaster, wood and debris. All ceiling plaster, wall plaster and pine paneling was removed from my property before they left. My home is now safe for me to live in. Thanks to Mold First Responders. I give my highest recommendation to this company.

I own Frasure Painting in Brunswick, Ohio. 1 month ago my son asked me, "Dad how do you get your work?" We were busy at that time and I just mentioned to him from all over the place. He then took it upon himself to start looking for our business on line. He then said, "Dad are you on Angie’s List," I replied yes. Once again never gave it a thought. He then said, "Daddy I found you." At that point he pulled our company up and was reviewing it. He then said, "Dad why is your business listing phone number different than the number we call you to get ahold of you." This got my attention!!! I then took a look at my profile.

When I took a look at my profile, I had all my reviews from the last 10 years. We have been a A company for all of those years. The one thing that I seen that was very different was the number that was listed under my business contact information was not mine. Instead a number that was a general number that if you called sounded something like, "Welcome to Angie’s List we are now connecting you to your service provided." Ok boys and girls buckle up for this one. Try not to get lost. Like I said before, my son found this out and was calling from his personal phone number. Not our business phone. He was acting on his own. He’s no dummy. He just called and he stated, "Daddy I left my call back number. Daddy am I in trouble?" I said, "No little buddy. Let’s see what happens."

The very next morning my Son had several calls stating, "We see you need a paint estimate." WHAT??? He was looking at my company. How in the world were these other companies getting my lead? I then took it upon myself to call one of the voice mails that he received. A older man answered the phone with his company name. I then calmly tried to explain the reason of my call. The man listened to me and said he had been paying Home Advisor a certain amount for each lead and he got my son’s information from them.

Are you guys still with me in this?? This poor guy was getting a fake lead and being charged from my son's phone call to check out his Daddy’s page on Angie’s List. After a 10 minute conversation with the gentleman he stated to me that he already was charged $350 for the month for incoming leads. I felt so bad for him, due to he told me he was a retired guy trying to supplement his cost of health insurance. He then stated he was canceling his membership with Home Advisor. We hung up the phone and I could believe what happens.

After further thought, and 10 years of me supporting the practice of Angie’s List I regret I will be leaving them, and as far as the constant phone calls from the Angie’s List parenting company Home Advisor please quit calling me 10 times a day from different numbers to try and confuse me. I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH EITHER OF YOU SCAM ARTIST COMPANIES!!! I hope you hard working entrepreneurs have learned something from this post!! I was really screwed over by AngiesList 4 years ago when I chose a contractor on their list because they gave him A plus ratings. He did not have a valid contractor's license, he had had a LLC license (which inhibits him from doing more than a 1000 dollars of work at a time) that had expired the year prior. All of Angies' information on this guy was false. I paid this guy $15,000.00 and he ruined my kitchen, I filed a claim with the ROC in AZ and they determined that he needed to give me my money back but he did not. They could not help further because he did not have a license, he is now in jail for fraud and drug charges unrelated to my case.

I still have a really icky kitchen. He told me I needed a new main breaker box which I did not, charged me 1800 dollars, did not get a permit and put is in wrong and it had to be redone. I appealed to AngiesList regarding this and they told me I should have checked to see if his contractors license was real and it was my fault. They took no responsibility and gave me no help. I went on Channel 12 On Your Side here in AZ. I would love to join a class action lawsuit against them!!

Since they merged with HomeAdvisor they are sending all of the leads that they get on the Angie's List home page to HomeAdvisor and selling them to other roofing companies. So they are getting our advertising dollars upfront and then selling the leads that we have prepaid for to unsuspecting companies through HomeAdvisor. This practice is at the minimum deceitful but more than likely illegal. All forms filled out either as a member or non-member on the Angie's List site should go the companies that pay for that site.

The response was that you will receive an email from Angie's List to review your vendors. And the chat agent would hear none of it.. Cut me off with 'is there anything else I can do'. Based on all reviews, I'm letting this membership run out and will not renew. I'm trying an app now to find what I need... outside of Angie's list.

AngiesList autorenewed a charge to the WRONG CREDIT card. I had changed my card to Discover with them back in 12/2017. But an old card that hasn't been used in yrs or monitored by us got charged instead. Consequently we got a late charge that was reported to the credit bureau, and our FICO score tanked by 80 pts for that single event!!! And when I tracked back to 2017 AngiesList had autorenewed the same way, and caused me a late charge back then! That's when I called them to change the credit card, but apparently they never did. (And by the way, I've never had any other late charges on credit cards to date!).

I have yet to get any response from the company, because I can only email and wait for a response within 24 hrs. They apparently don't take anyone's phone call unless you're a "gold" plan member (I only have a silver plan for which they arbitrarily charge the last credit card they have on file $9.99 every 2 yrs, yet will not talk to me!). This is sooo unacceptable. Rather than just reversing the charge, which is a given, I need the credit card to be informed that the original AngiesList charge was in error! We'll see if I can get them to do anything about my situation and will update with results.

It would appear from all the negative reviews that this company is merely trying to preserve its cash flow pending a bankruptcy filing. The company is blocking legitimate attempts to cancel auto renewals with technical blockages on their website that make it virtually impossible for subscribers to cancel their subscriptions. You should attempt soon to get your money back before the bankruptcy court distributes pennies on the dollar in some sort of a class action settlement.

What I got was a bombardment of contractor contacting me when I had not seen anything like the old AL about the company. If I wanted HomeAdvisor I would have used them. Reviewed Nov. 15, 2018

My Angie's List review and complaint. Buyer beware. Angie's List is a bunch of crooks. Many reasons. Enrolled my company with Angie's List and signed a 1 year contract. Angie's List merged with HomeAdvisor and by how the company is run and corrupt it is, it shows. So, after I enrolled with Angie's List, within the first month I got 1 inquiry and it was most likely fake, (something HomeAdvisor has done before merging) currently there is a class action suit against both Angie's List and HomeAdvisor for the same thing in 2018. Which I am looking into joining if they don’t leave me alone.

Anyway so I believe my first inquiry was fake by how the conversation went with the potential client. But that isn’t the main reason for complaint, it is just showing character of this company. So you pay to be on Angie's List, well after 10 months of getting absolutely no results whatsoever, I decided to inquire about canceling my agreement. Which after about 8 months I inquired by email about canceling and didn’t receive a response. Well finally after 10 months I decided to cancel. Was told it would be $90, 30% of the remainder of the contract which would be $250.

I only did very little advertising with them as a test run. And even though little, it still cost me over a grand for one fake lead in 10 months. Anyway, I canceled and not shocking as crooked as Angie's List is, they took $250 from my account, instead of the $90 that was told for early termination. Everything was documented with emails for the early termination fee and of course all documentation of bank records of them straight up stealing.

After making them aware and trying to just pay and be done, my sales rep was actually trying to make it like I owed the $250, after she herself said around $90 in an email, which 30% of 250 is a little shy of $90 which would be correct. But emails sent from her after they tried pencil whipping were to try and justify why it was $250 now, and if I only had 2 months left at $125 and was paying the early termination fee of 30% how could it possibly be $250 which would be the total remainder of the agreement. After a few emails I asked for a billing payment and summary for my total payment history to show her that they were pencil whipping me, which I knew, but wanted it in their own writing. Over 1 month for them to produce this after numerous emails back and forth.

Tried going on Angie's List to get my c/c info off there because 2 times in 3 days I had to call my bank and cancel their transaction when this first occurred. No way for me to access my account to delink my c/c info. It didn’t stop there, I warned them after having to cancel them 2 transactions and told them to delink my card. Well they didn’t, after 4 more attempts to charge my card, I ultimately called my bank and canceled the card. Got numerous emails from them after that they kept trying to charge my card and it wasn’t going through.

Of course it wasn’t, you tried stealing and got caught. Anyway, back to a beginning thing I pointed out. First 10 months I got 1 person to look at me on Angie's List, my second person was the very next day after I canceled. Now, just an assumption, but the timing of someone reaching out on Angie's List the very next day after I canceled, when for 10 months only 1 inquiry in the very beginning. Makes me wonder, did they attempt that so maybe I would change my mind on not canceling. LOL Most certainly in mine opinion. Thankfully I didn’t go the pay per click like other companies did only to get fake leads. FAKE LEADS and they wonder why there is a class action suit.

I gave the company the opportunity to walk away, they made 1k over 10 months for doing absolutely nothing to bring in leads. Guess if you're not paying for clicks, no reason until you cancel to give one a fake one. They got caught stealing, undisputable with all email and bank documentations. Held my credit card hostage, refused to furnish a billing and payment summary for months to hide their pencil whipping. Etc. They have done all this and so much more. Had me cancel credit cards, spend 3-4 hours dealing with emails back and forth, dealing with my bank.

For what, $250. They were told to walk away or my reviews on them would be posted. I didn’t want to spend time doing this and just wanted to be done, they claim I owe $160 cause I didn’t dispute the $90 with my bank and they got that, they are not owed more. And yet today I got a call from a collections department about it. So now it's time for me to post my reviews and complaints. They should of left it be, they got their money owed and still are insisting and harassing on money they are not due.

Rundown: 2 leads in 10 months, 1 in the beginning to make it like they generate something and 1 the day after I cancel service. Both most likely fake leads as they are being sued by numerous companies for that. Theft of money not due and holding credit card information after being told to delink it. Over a month of demanding a billing and payment history. Threats by them about affecting my credit in writing through email. Hours of dealing with this, my time is money as well. Anyone dealing with Angie's List and have been defrauded by fake leads and overcharged, should look into jumping on the class action suits against them.

Several years ago I did a year contract advertising with AL. I only received 2 jobs from the whole year. I vowed to never advertise with them again. Last year I was convinced by a sales rep that they had changed. So I reluctantly advertised with them again. Well it's been a year and I have only received 3 jobs this year. When I call them they have nothing but excuses. What I found out today is, if you google Angie's List, you get to their landing page. Right in the middle of that page there is a LARGE box that says: "Find top-rated, certified pros for your project". There is a spot to put in what you are looking for, plumber, etc. When you enter what you are looking for it asks you a number of questions. Including your address etc. Then what happens is you get 3-4 service providers who will give you quotes by contacting you via email call or whatever.

Here is the problem. When you fill in your information in that box, you are actually now getting providers from Home Advisor. Which I now find out is their sister company. So as a paid advertiser on Angie's List, if a prospect Clicks on that LARGE box in the middle of their web page, they will NEVER see me as an option because I do not advertise on Home Advisor. I am being told by Angie's List representatives that the prospect must be a member, and they must log in on a small box in the top right of their web page in order to see me as a paid advertiser. What the hell is that?? This is why I am not getting any calls!! This is unethical and I will never ever use them again for anything. We are business owners (24+ yrs) with A ratings across the internet, Google, Houzz, Yelp, etc. We have advertised on Angie's List every year for over 10 years in remodeling. This year, we finally decided to cancel Angie's List permanently. There is a number of unethical practices going on that most business owners WILL NEVER KNOW ABOUT because they don't have time to be an investigator, researching how this system works on the member side. I have taken the time to see exactly how it works and how advertising skews the information visible on Angie's List in favor of any business paying $$, regardless of reputation. It's gotten much worse in recent months (2018).

In the end, they are not actually helping consumers at all. They polish up "turds" - B and lower rated companies - that pay for advertising and then promote them heavily for clicks and skew how great they are. Additionally, they will bury the A rated, reputable company not paying for advertising on page 3-4 of results, even if geographically they are next door to the consumer looking for that service. The costs of advertising have increased every year substantially. The value has declined every year substantially. We track it. They will ask you to gather reviews from clients and then report back to you that the sales of all those reviews entered (dollar amounts are part of the review) was "caused" by your presence on Angie's List. Not true. Too much to write here and I expect they will continue to be sued by business owners for the unethical practices that are getting worse with time. Spend your money elsewhere.

The reviews are CRUCIAL to a business, because the consumer wants to feel confident that they are choosing a reputable company. No company appears to be strong and reputable with only a few reviews - especially when the competing companies have several reviews on their profile.

We have excellent relations with customers - who advised that they had given reviews. This was peculiar because the reviews were never posted to our profile. As a business owner in a very competitive field, we felt that Angie's List was breaching contract and promises as they made excuse after excuse as to why our reviews were never posted:

    * They are extremely busy.
    * The customers did not return their calls.

    * The customers could "call in" to create an account. (Why would we burden our customers with this request?).

Blah blah blah. Nothing but lies. So, my partner canceled after managers failed to rectify the lack of customer service. Angie's List then proceeded to draft our bank account for nearly $1,500 in "cancellation fees". Our bank has reversed this in our favor after reviewing the ongoing documentation. Now I must waste more precious time in dealing with their legal department.

Fellow business owners - If you are dealing with this same issue, record the calls and screenshot your profile daily to prove that they are not holding up on their end. Obtain letters from your customers outlining if they were contacted, and if so - when. Build your case, and take it to your Attorney General, BBB and consumer pages like this. Do not become a victim of their SCAM.

I clicked something like "no, show me the listing" and it showed me a list of promoted companies - opposite of what I want when I go to Angie's List, but not even the worst part. Then I started getting a bunch of calls and emails from inspectors that say they got my information from HomeAdvisor.com with the indication that I wanted to be contacted. Obviously Angie's List is sharing personal contact information without permission.

After years of off and on silver membership, on Angie's List, I reached out for help since our contractor was not willing to come back on warranty issues. They would not even talk to me since I don't have a gold membership. They don't care that these contractors don't come back or do a good job. You have to pay extra for them to even talk to you and the worst thing is that they WILL NOT ALLOW A CHANGE IN A BUSINESS REVIEW ON THEIR SITE. I think that bothers me the most because I left positive feedback, to keep a nice relationship with this company, in hopes they would be here if we had any warranty issues.

I could have left a negative review, for FairClaims Roofing, but I chose to try and look at any positive... until I had to chase them around to do warranty work and our home is still leaking! I wanted to revise my review and warn others but Angie's List will not allow any revisions. You have to pay extra for this too! They also have a confusing website... where I thought I could revise it and wrote another review. But it couldn't be replaced. I always thought their website was confusing and very slow! In addition, the site crawlers follow you all over and slow down other sites you go to after being on their site.

I'm done with Angie's List and honestly I've been finding better results with "next door" and other sites that have more legitimate reviews. Obviously, Angie's List does not genuinely care about your project or what the outcome is. They only care about taking your money and in return you get poor service, questionable information and a confusing and slow website experience.

Had to jump in here after receiving the fifth call AGAIN for a contractor. The contractors that came were all EXTREMELY overpriced, I do not necessarily blame Angie's List for this, but after getting a contractor outside the website it did seem a little... coincidental... that they were all about 20-30% higher in price. My largest problem however is that they DEFINITELY sell your contact information. They directly answered me with "No, we absolutely do not" when I asked, but there is simply no way that this is true. While you will definitely get many contractors who want to quote you, you will also get MANY contractors who will want to quote you... and won't stop calling. I bought a house a few months ago and for the first time used Angie's List to look for a contractor to start my renovations.

Since using Angie's List, I have gotten four calls per day non-stop and there is no way to have the calls stop coming. I still receive AT LEAST four calls per day, long after I have already stopped even having conversations with contractors... It has been almost two months now and I wish to god I had never used Angie's List in the first place. It has truly been the most obnoxious thing I have had to deal with since buying this house and there is no way to stop it. The contractors say they have no idea what I am talking about, and Angie's List claims that they do not give out information and do not store information either. This is an obvious and blatant lie as me and many like me from reviews I have read, are now getting solicitation calls throughout the day... every day. Definitely was disappointed that this happened and make sure to let people know what to expect if they call Angie's List. I personally will never use the site again.

I put in the required information, and the end result was a list of companies and reviews I could peruse and call at my leisure to inquire. I did, called a company called "We Clean America", which was short-lived due to being unprofessional. I decided to look at a kitchen remodel also, and did the same process. Little did I know, that a list with reviews was not going to be sent, but within 3 minutes of hitting send, a bombardment and onslaught of calls from companies would start pouring in on my personal phone number. It was relentless. It was constant. It was a nightmare.

One of the companies was under the impression per their deal with Angie's List, that only 3 companies were to be referred per consumer request. It was more like 75-100 companies were given my number. Some of the more aggressive callers, became rude and abusive. It has been 2 months now, and the calls are still coming in. I am now getting solicitation calls from companies that provide services I never inquired about. I still get 2-3 solicitation calls per day. This has become such an invasion into my personal life. Complaint #3, I just received a notice of the last auto-renewal occurring 70-days ago with a note saying I have 60-days to cancel for a full refund (so the cancellation period had just expired). The next year it happened again (TWICE they tried to charge me every three months). I called, they said it was my fault but when I got the CC company involved they backed down. I demanded they delete my information. They agreed. Now this year, the THIRD year in a row, they are trying to auto renew my account again. I am now into 6 months of this service and have received no customers at all. I called to complain and try and get my money back to no avail. They said it was because I didn't have many reviews. Hard to get reviews when you aren't getting customers. I said I wasn't buying that reason because I was getting leads from Home Advisor (their sister company).

She then said they didn't have very many members in my services, they didn't share this with me when I signed up and my area covers 120 miles in any direction. I found out from a FB group I am in - Angie's List sold to HomeAdvisor. I google it and read up on it. I have been with Angie's List 5+ years and I have been happy with the service. I have a good website and I get a lot of referrals already so it supplements my workload. I noticed I had not had any calls or messages from members since January which didn't make sense. Nor had anyone from Angie's List call me like they used to do. They will call me to renew my advertising fee which I am dropping, and the emails to advertise in their magazine as honor roll. You have to pay for it... lol.

It all makes sense they sold out but conveniently haven't told their members or contractors, what gratitude. My beef the only one, has been you can get a feedback grade never having provided a service. So if someone gets upset because you don't call them back right or don't want the work, they can give you an F. It does get posted though and you can't remove it. I don't agree with it, then they just tell you it doesn't count for much. I disagree.

If HomeAdvisor does not do reviews then I guess I lose all mine when they consolidate. Also someone mentioned about leads going over to HomeAdvisor, makes sense because I have never had this kind of drought with AL. When they consolidate I assume the format will be all leads. This was once Service Magic which charges for leads. I think it will be time to drop this service for AL to sell out sounds like corporate greed. They probably signed a contract to not tell anyone so HomeAdvisor and keep on operating business as usual with no support whatsoever. Thank you Angie Hicks.

I asked him don't they contact the business before they put up damaging reviews. His response was "I hardly think one bad review would be damaging". Well, it was the only review so, yes, it is damaging. He then went on to say they only confirm the reviews if you ask them to. Unbelievable! I think that is their way of forcing you to join and advertise with them. People, please call the BBB if you have a complaint.

They will contact the business to let them know there is a problem and give the chance to dispute a complaint and will list their findings. Angie'sList is a hack site where a competitor can write and make up anything they want to and the other business will never have any idea unless someone tells them. This review was totally fraudulent and given by someone we had never done business with. The Better Business Bureau has been around for many, many years and is a very reputable organization. Angie'sList will do and say anything for a buck. The "referrals" they give you are from companies that pay them to promote their business. They put you on auto renew and won't stop trying to charge your card. You can't even call them with a regular membership. I'm having trouble logging in and can't do anything to cancel without logging in. AngiesList.com are hypocrites and judge other companies when they are the worst.

Contractor serving his area for 40 years. Signed up with Angie's List to get my name out there close to two years ago. Not a single phone call or lead from the service. Recently lost a job of high value due to a bad review posted on my profile. A review Angie's List never notified me on or can verify. I have been in business for 40+ years never had a bad review in Better Business Bureau and if there was an issue I was contacted. I contacted Angie's List about these fraudulent reviews they took one down and refused to take the other one down due to the inability on their end to contact the user.

So an un-verified un-answered review stays on my account. A review that happened around the same time I started the account and wasn't made aware of until I recently lost work because of it. I do not want any part of this company after the research I have done on said company and they refuse to remove me from their service. Very disappointing customer service and company. Contractors beware. Anyone at any time can add a bad review with no consequences.

I do not wish to be a member of Angie's List. I did not subscribe to Angie's List. But Angie's List has put a charge of 9.99 on my credit card on 04/03. I want it removed (refunded) but I can't find a way to contact the company. The automated phone instructions they give are bogus. Can you help me solve this problem?

I stopped using Angie's List when there was an issue with a contractor. They told me I was not at that level of support with their company and I would have to pay more. I told them to cancel my account. That was like 2 years ago. I noticed on my 2017 statements when doing my taxes that Angie's List is still debiting my account for basic viewing services. Aren't these FREE? Why hadn't my account been canceled as I requested two years ago! How soon will I be getting my refund for all charges up to present that I was erroneously debited.

Called customer service and entered my number and got a message that I do not have the level of support for assistance! I got ripped off by one contractor on (Angie's List) who kept buying materials, returning them to Home Depot then providing me with receipts for sale. No bueno. That is when I decided to stop using Angie's List. Next conversation I will be having is with the Better Business Bureau!

They are demanding that I provide all of my personal information before providing anything. I am unwilling to do this because I do not want my phone and email to blow up with contractors attempting to contact me. They state that the information is free, but all of my information is of value and therefore it is not free. I can't get the information that I am seeking from that source.

I hired a person to do a home inspection of a house I wanted to buy. He did an outstanding job, his company asked me to please give them a review of the work done. The email asked me to please give a review on HomeAdvisor and Angie's List (they are listed on both), given that I was very happy with services provided I felt very strongly about wanting to pass on a GOOD review. That all went downhill as soon as I did a review on Angie’s list. I signed up for their free service (required to submit a review), did my review, and then received a response stating that they could not verify that I was a real person and not an internet bot and therefore could not post my review.

They requested that I provide them with all my past address, phone numbers, email addresses and any other names I may have gone by. With a final sentence that read “Don't worry, we won't sell your information or share it with our members. However, any name or address given will be available to companies you review”. I replied that I would not do that and why. I then got another response that stated the same thing as the first one did. I called them to explain that this company deserved the review I gave and to not punish them because I would not divulge personal information. Was told that they have their process and if I could not be verified then there was nothing they could do.

I called (a live person), talked to a live person (employee) and was told that they cannot verify I am a real person and therefore could NOT use my review. I have not been insulted like this before trying to give a good review. If this is how they treat consumers trying to do a good thing I can only imagine how I would be treated if I had used them to find this company and had an issue. To sum it up, they want both contractors' advertisement money, the consumers' money (for better listings with their paid service) and the consumers' personal info so they can use it to get more money. I will never deal with them again.

It has been only close to 2 weeks and I am VERY DISSATISFIED! With the advertising of my business, nobody who has acquired my services through Facebook NOT Angie's List wants to review through that company!!! Because they are asked to sign up and they don't want to... I was never told that customers had to sign up and now??? I am screwed with a contract of 1 year when that wasn't even explained to me!!! The sales rep Michael ** from originations dept. never said it would be 1 year. When I submitted a complaint and a cancellation request! They said I would be charged 35% of the entire year for breaking a contract!!! Because I was asked if I wanted to pay for 1 month or the entire year, my answer was a month and I would try it out!!! NOOOOOO!!!! That wasn't why they asked that, it was because they were locking me up with an entire damn year!!!

It hasn't been even 2 weeks and I cannot cancel without penalties!!! THEY ARE CROOKS!!! I have 2 reviews from outside business not even Angie's List so that alone is a scam to customers!!! Because they are lying to them. "BUSINESS WASN'T DONE THROUGH ANGIE'S LIST!!!" My business is more through Facebook and NOW I REGRET signing up with Angie's List!!! I have tried to look what I can do, if anyone has a way to help? I WILL APPRECIATE IT!!! I am not satisfied and I am not getting any leads so far... I know it's been only close to 2 weeks but when you get lied to? You don't want to deal with a business like Angie's List!!!! I will keep searching a way to cancel!!!

We had a painter, who contracted an exterior painting, deck painting and some woodwork with an A listed superior performance awarded company on Angie’s List. Billy and Cindy’s Painting was the company. Long story short, they walked off the job with $2,900.00 and only a third finished. Angie’s List contacted me to see if I wanted to use Angie’s List complaint resolution... After providing AL with tons of photos and texts which definitively shows the shoddy and unfinished job they did, they told me that the company responded by saying they weren’t going to do anything for me, no refund no completed job. Angie’s List said they were very sorry for me but they don’t punish or delist companies. I found out today that the company pays Angie’s List for advertising and maintaining their spot on Angie’s List. Angie’s List is just an avenue for companies to scam and swindle consumers.

When it comes to a lead-generation program, Angie's List is the most expensive. There aren't any benefits to listing with Angie's List. They say that you have to get 5 reviews a month to stay in a top three or four companies listed per city. They have the big deals that really are not a deal for you. But it is a deal for the customer. They take another 40% or so off the top of your earnings. On top of the $2,000 or so that you're paying to list for the year's contract, that woman is taken your earnings and putting it in her pocketbook. That was the biggest business decision mistake I've ever made. HomeAdvisor at least charge only a fraction of the amount of the money. You get to go out and do jobs and get what you're worth if you win the bid. Even in some cases you get leads for free. HomeAdvisor would be the better choice.

I canceled with only 3 months left on my contract with Angie's List. I had to pay a 35% cancellation fee which is still huge. At least I won't have to pay that huge fee for that remaining months with Angie's List. They also have other ways to where they want to get your money. They send you out the so-called honor roll opportunity for $288. Come on woman, haven't you got enough money from all of those companies that are listed with you? Angie needs to change Angie's List name to Angies scamlist! I will kick myself in the behind over this. I have to ask what the world was I thinking. If you do not want to hurt your business do not sign up with Angie's List!

We have had our business on AngiesList.com for many years, the first many years we loved it, they actually saved us. We had so many leads and sold almost 95% of them. We did everything they told us to do, we have over 150 leads, we joined everything on there, marketplace, big deals, had 2 or 3 advertising agreements, etc. It was a designated job for someone in our office to stay on top of, because we were doing very well. Well about 2 or more years ago, our phones stopped ring with AngiesList customers and our emails for AngiesList stopped as well. We actually continued with them and kept trying, because of the business they had supplied us in years past, but I have decided today that we will not renew our AngiesList, especially after reading all of the other business owner reviews. I for sure know that it is not the same and we have a lack of trust. I might as well take my money and throw it out the window! So long AngiesList!
