I found an electrical contractor form Angi's and I could not get the job estimate cost from anyone. I was quoted 3 separate cost estimates and none were right. They take it out of your bank account as soon as the contractor finishes the project. They do not give the contractor's name so you can read any reviews. Finally, the contractor only gets about 1/3 of what Angi bills me. Tried to get my $29.00 membership fee back but they would not refund it. Stay AWAY from Angi. The contractor was good and knew his business, it's Angi that is the pain.

I went on Angi to research local painters that I wanted to hire for interior painting on my home. I found Superior Painting with several excellent reviews. I contacted Superior Painting for an estimate of the job requested. They came out and gave me a very good estimate. Two months elapsed before I could get them out to do the job due to Covid quarantines and backlog of jobs. I am very happy with the painters and the job that they did. I would recommend Superior Painting to anyone in North Florida.

Ron and Kevin were great. There were a few hiccups like delayed delivery of replacement skylights and rain but Complete Skylights kept us informed and updated every step of the way. They were very helpful moving furniture and taping and mudding after installation. They were timely and neat. Very professional. One glitch is the solar blinds for the bedrooms are on backorder due to the chip shortage, verified on Velux website. When they are in Ron will be back to install them. He is trying to find at least one for our master bedroom as soon as possible as it's bright now. I will highly recommend Complete Skylights to anyone in need of this service.

I wanted someone to remove mold out of my bathroom in my master bedroom. I thought I had mold because of a musty smell in my house. Jimenez came to my house. Gave me an estimate of $1600 if they were to remove mold. Jimenez came and cut up my ceiling in bedroom, found no mold ànd did not replace my ceiling, sprayed green water on my closet walls and told me my closets were leaking. It was 4 closets. All they did was painted the closets with KILLZ paint which I did before going on Angie's List. In the Master bathroom they cleaned out behind the Shower and sprayed behind the shower with the green water and painted it with KILLZ paint and charged me $1600.00 and did not remove no mold. I gave them $1000.00. I gave them all my money and I did not get what I paid for.

I cannot thank Rodney enough. His responsiveness and attentiveness were very appreciated. I had issues with my disposal also and he checked it out and let me know it didn’t need to be replaced, just fixed. Then he tackled the dishwasher, which was no easy feat. He talked to me the whole time, explained everything he was doing and even saved me money in the end. I am so grateful and thankful for all his help!

This was my first time using Angie's List. My husband recommended it because he said I could trust the resources recommended. I reached out to three plumbers identified by Angie's list. All responded, but I went with the company that responded the fastest - almost immediately. He used both phone and text to reach me; the others used only phone (and I actually respond better to text so two methods were helpful). The person I spoke to was knowledgeable and patient. He was also responsive and we set an appointment quickly. I then had to make a chance, and he was also adaptable to my needs. Ultimately, I was satisfied the job performed. The experience has encouraged me to use Angie's list again in the future.

When I first started researching Contractors I came across Angi and filled out all of the information required. Once this was done I was contacted by 2 and contacted 6, out of all of them they were are overpriced, some not licensed as the site claims, they claim they do background checks which I find to be false as I had 3 come that were not licensed or bonded. The remaining felt the need to price gouge on work to be done, so I went to another site known as yelp or even just googling the company and contacting the State Contractors Board to see if a person was licensed or not. But I had other Contractors arrive which was about 5 more and all had fairer prices versus from Angi's.

I have used Angi (Angie's List) for years. I always rely on their recommendations /referrals for any work I need to have completed. I was contacted right away by one of five contractors. Another contractor contacted me weeks after my initial inquiry. Three of five contractors never responded. I am very satisfied with the contractor I used and have him scheduled for more jobs. I feel comfortable using contractors I find through Angi based on recommendations and reviews.

Angi is quite a huge let-down. They take advantage of any willing and struggling business out there. The Angi platform is built off the backs of unsuspecting business owners and they do not care if their monthly theft places a business into an ongoing deficit while providing no support or guidance. Our business has paid them $400 per month over the last quarter-year and they have done nothing that they promised to help advertise us to their homeowner base. No one person from Angi contacted us, as we were told they would, to provide individual support and guidance. We have had almost no customer connections through them as well. An Angi representative told us that for the price each month we would have priority access to customers within a geographical area. What a joke that turned out to be! The only role they haven't failed to perform is taking payment each month. Taking payment while providing nothing in return.
When we have contacted them to understand why they weren't providing the promised support and burying our company name in a large list of vendors for all customers to sift-through. We were told that we needed five reviews to move up the vendor list. A complete reversal of the whole "priority access" promise. But yes, you guessed it, they offered no monthly discount for them burying our company.
Why would anyone pay hard-earned money for advertising just to be buried on a list of vendors and to have no control over your placement. Other than through an arbitrary process of gaining "reviews". Reviews that you cannot get because you don't have the list placement that you were told you'd be paying for. What a complete joke!! And on top of all of this, no one from Angi will return your phone call nor is available when you call to resolve a dispute like this. We have been trying for several weeks to do so, with no success. I recommend all business consumers stay well away from Angi. They will most likely only stunt your businesses success.

Angi Leads (formerly HomeAdvisor) is an unethical and dishonest company. I've been charged hundreds of dollars for leads I did not accept (some were in completely different areas of expertise). They will say you have the option to accept or reject leads but your don't. Once you receive a lead you will be charged immediately (usually more than you were quoted) even if you're not interested, or it's not your line of work. When we signed up we were told we would only be charged for leads we accepted. Not so. The rep I spoke with said you don't have the ability to reject a lead, even if you're too busy. This is a terrible company and if you're thinking of signing up with them, don't.

Jeff and his team were responsive to my needs, though they were new to the Austin TX area. I would never recommend his work, he half finishes and will tell you it will cost a lot more for him to make it right. Extremely DISAPPOINTED!!! I have pictures, and would be glad to show them.

The price of replacing my wood fence gate was very reasonable and he performed the work in a very timely manner. What I most valued about the original Angie's List was the unbiased reviews from customers. AL was customer-centric, and all about providing value to the customer - and of course, it was paid for by customer memberships. The new Angi, in order to expand by taking over Home Advisor, has compromised its business model. Instead of relying on a paying customer base to provide honest reviews, it now relies on revenue from the contractors in order to provide a "free" service to the consumer. Angi is now much less about transparent reviews and more about making contractor referrals. I feel like the reviews are still decent, but given much less emphasis, and I don't trust that the referrals are always given for being "the best."

The reviews also helped steer me away from a couple of contractors that multiple people had had bad experiences with. I then called all 3 contractors I'd identified for assessments of the job, and their estimates. 1 turned out to be a dud outright (pawned me off to someone else who never called back). I have submitted several reviews for the same project, only to discover that they and the 5-star ratings I gave on each one, starting July 14, 2021, were never registered on behalf of Ridgeline Service Plumbing, LLC. Instead I keep getting texts, emails and phone calls asking me to review the project I already submitted multiple reviews for. This is getting annoying, and it's also interfering with Ridgeline's ability to provide continued 5-star service because he has to call me and other clients to ask them repeatedly to resubmit reviews they've already submitted. Should that not be your job, as well as making sure your company, Angi's, is insuring customer reviews are posted in a timely manner??! As a now-annoyed Angi's customer, I might be less inclined to use or recommend the business if all they're doing is calling me to ask me to resubmit another damn review!

Great search recommendations, large selection of services and businesses reviewed. The one shortcoming I find with Angi (formerly Angie's List) is that the businesses get the "last word," so to speak. It creates a model that works as follows: a consumer writes an honest review; the business gets huffy if it isn't 100% flattering (despite being accurate); the business responds with a mischaracterization of what happened; the reviewer looks like a moron or a liar; but, there's nothing the consumer can do to contradict the inaccuracies in the business' response.

I advertised with Angie's List for a year and it was not a good fit. The Angie's salesperson did a good job of talking me into a second year. He promised he would do a great job managing and tailoring my ad program so he was sure the second year would be more successful. It was not, and that is fine; sometimes advertising pays off, sometimes it doesn't.
This is my complaint: Nobody from Angie's contacted me for eight months. The day after my contract auto-renewed, Angie's called to ask if I wanted to expand my advertising platform. I was already spending about $20k per year. I told them that the last two years were a good experiment, but I didn't want to continue. They told me that because the contract had renewed, they were gonna stick me with the contract. Until I paid them their demands, they placed a banner, visible to the general public, across my ad stating that I was a non-bill-payer in bad standings with Angie's. I had to pay them to get them to take my ad down, despite me paying for two years of ads. I did miss the contract renewal date, but I think that with such expensive ad costs, they should be contacting me to see how the campaign is performing. Angie's is not interested in the success of its advertisers, only their own revenues. Beware!

Richard went over and above installing my driveway. He knew City of Portland code and was very reasonable on price, and quality of his work was superior. He also set 5 beams for my patio cover while he was there which was not included in bid. This company was the best contractor experience I've ever had and I have hired many contractors so I speak from experience. This contractor does more than driveways and is very experienced in his knowledge. He was always on time and his crew was fast, accurate, and timely. My driveway and patio cover are beautiful. I will hire Richard and his team on every construction job I have in the future and I know I will not have to worry about any of the details of the job, I can actually relax and leave it all up to Richard. Thanks Richard. You were delightful and trustworthy.

I used Angie's List to get someone to do my duct cleaning for my HVAC system. They never showed up, but claimed they did! When I called to reverse the charge, customer service claimed contractor showed up and that they can only reimburse 50%. The contractor talked about the 'service' he provided, which involved using a ladder to get to the exterior vents. (We don't have that, as our house has a >50 year old system.) I emphasized that to customer service, but she refused to believe me. Unprofessional. I did rehire another company through Angie's list, because one apple shouldn't spoil the bunch. They brought my review up one star. The dad/son team was good, but didn't have the proper equipment to do the job right. Their equipment couldn't go too far into the system, but they did get a lot of the dust out.

I tried to Direct him to YouTube for correctly installation, but he told me that he was a professional knew what he was doing.
My son came after work and saw the entire door handle upside down. Is he drilled the holes wrong because I’m an older woman I wouldn’t catch on to it. Also install the hydraulic closer at the bottom of the door incorrectly drilling holes into the door first rather than the door frame so that he could gauge where to place T holes for the fixture on the door. Angi would give me no information on this guy and precharged my credit card for the work without my authorization. Told me once I schedule for work that they will pre-charge and get the account pre-paid prior to the working completed. It’s Horrible. I wish I could show you pictures. I have used Angie's List before to find contractors etc., this time after looking on Angie's List I received a phone call a few minutes later from a woman saying she was from Angie's - Home advisor. She said they could schedule the job for me and take all the worry about finding an electrician. I just pick the day and time and they find a fit! This sounded perfect. With a quote of $283.25 I accepted (Sat. June 5th), scheduled the electrician to be at my home on Monday June 7th at 4:00 pm. I canceled a few meetings at work so I can be home in time for the apt. Monday at 2:00 pm I received a text stating that my appointment had been rescheduled for Friday at 4:00 pm.
I called and was told no electrician "claimed the job" so it was automatically rescheduled. I asked why they waited until 2 hours before the apt to tell me? They said there would be an electrician at my home on Friday at 4:00. I called Thursday evening to see if an electrician had "claimed the job" and I was told no, that they did not have anyone yet but would let me know by Friday at 3:00 pm. I told her this was unacceptable. They gave me a ten dollar discount. (Which is ridiculous considering I lost a few hours of work. Who gets paid $10 an hour?) She then stated that they would call me Friday morning. Friday morning came and went. By 10:00 am, I started searching for an electrician on my own and found one that could be there at 1:00 pm that day. Angie's List never came through. Do not get fooled by their promises... they don't follow through. I will never use Angie's List again.

I booked Angie's list to clean my home, and they last minute cancelled "due to a last-minute pro call off". They rescheduled for 2 days later. I was understanding the first time, but then they cancelled last minute again and rescheduled for the next week. Either they are entirely unreliable, or they simply don't have the cleaning professionals that want to work for them. This is really false advertising if they cannot provide the service that they are advertising for.

I didn't know if it had gone through or not, and called Angi app customer service 888-820-ANGI. Betsy said Angi's didn't handle the credit cards and transferred me to HomeAdvisor.
After 3 request to spell her name because I could not understand her, I finally got "Claudine", who said I didn't have an account and she couldn't help me. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she said she couldn't help me. I asked to be transferred back to Angi's customer service and she said she couldn't help me. Avoid Angi. We tried them a second time as a vendor, and our second experience was worst from the first. Poor customer service/support. They were unable to properly set up our company for the correct services we do and do not do. They were unable to rectify an issue of listing our company in cities and counties we do not service. Angi hounded us for a couple of weeks for us to call clients to go to Angi and leave reviews (we have over 30 reviews). Customer service issues with Angi would either not be completed, or we were told they were unable to help. It took over three weeks to cancel after numerous calls. When they tell you a rep will call you back within 48hours, do not hold your breath, we had to call them back after not hearing from them in seven days. After finally cancelling, they billed our card over $400. We received no invoice, nor email explaining the charges. Again, we had to call them for an explanation. Avoid Angi like the plague.

I have called corporate and complained and was supposedly put on a "do not call list, I have called and asked to be deleted from their system. Which was also another lie. I have called supervisors, to no avail. I tried calling their HR, but they don't have one, I've been told.
When asked to transfer to their version of HR, it's a never ending music hold. I've been called, texted and emailed multiple times. I've been harassed by one agent sending me personal texts, asking why I won't answer the phone and why I won't join! How is this legal? I have filed grievances with the BBB, but they're toothless. About 10-13 years ago I signed up with this firm. We had a good run was good for both of us. During covid-19 we decided at the beginning of the year to rebrand my company and allocated advertising funds that did not include Angieslist and we would not be renewing our subscription. I understand we are under contract for 12 months "anniversary" term I've been in business for over 20 years. Well, we received an email from angieslist that they were no longer and now it is Angi. Looks like someone bought them out or they decided to re brand also. At this time I thought well who knows what is going to happen next? Who owns it? Chris ** serviced our agreement and was my rep (contact) for our current term. They took over $1,000.00 from my account for early termination fees during an unprecedented time where we all are looking closely at our resources!
I requested to terminate and I received this response when I found out about the resources taken from my account. "There was never a conversation that involved waiving early termination fees." I stated: “Yes, I already cancelled it the first time. It will run until the end of your monthly anniversary date”. "When you requested to cancel, the account was cancelled. And the advertising runs until your monthly anniversary date then the advertising is pulled. It was cancelled before the contract was up and that comes with early termination. If you wanted to reinstate, I believe we can get those fees waived, but if not, they will stick".
My argument is that they trick you into the term "Anniversary". It is deceiving to distract the client into believing it's yearly when in fact they use it in the context of monthly. Shame on me for not catching this, but I gotta say it's pretty crafty. I thought I would escalate this to a supervisor or someone that would see my point and maybe have some compassion, take into consideration our long term relationship. Kim **'s response to my concern: "I wanted to follow up on Chris' email. Chris is correct. When you entered this business-to-business advertising arrangement by signing our contractual agreement, you agreed to work with Angi for 12-months to help you achieve your business goals over the 12-month time. By cancelling early, that nullified what you agreed to do. The consequence is initiating the Early Termination Fee, plus any unpaid advertising months.
As a business owner I am sure you understand contracts. Angi has been around for over 25 years because of the value add we have provided to thousands upon thousands of excellent service pros like you. I want to help you and I can help you. If you are open to a conversation about re-engaging with Angi as a featured advertising partner, please call me at ** or reply to this email.
If you are not interested, there is no need to contact me and we will follow our collection process (which if not resolved will lead to your account being sent to a debt collector.) My hope is you reach out to me to discuss what we need to do to get you back to the Angi money table.
Drive Success to Your Business, TODAY!
Kind regards,
Kim **Advertising Client Experience Manager

I Told Kim on our final phone call that they needed to change the term "anniversary" as it is very misleading. Who has monthly anniversaries? Really? Please, in the world of contracting weddings, I mean when you hear the term anniversary first thought is yearly no one I know celebrates monthly anniversary? I asked Wikipedia this is the definition: "An anniversary is the date on which an event took place or an institution was founded in a previous year, and may also refer to the commemoration or celebration of that event. For example, the first event is the initial occurrence", anyways I thanked him for the run. They lost in my opinion the best client they ever had that paid their bills over 10 years on time.
I gave them the opportunity to make it right but they took the greed route. I hope nothing but the best for them as far as I am concerned they failed and I will never endorse them nor give them my hard earned advertising dollars ever again. Thank you angieslist for the run good bye angi. Needless to say I was not impressed and concluded to absorb the cost and move on. I serve a great God that will replenish the loss. Stay safe and healthy. I really hope this comment helps someone. My very Kindest regards Andy.

Buyer beware! The Moving Company is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and can be neither trusted nor referred as a competent relocation partner! SHAME ON ME FOR TRUSTING THEM. Moving is, in and of itself, a stressful time for most people. Especially when you take particular care of your stuff and have high expectations of those you select to assist you with the process. That said, this review is intended to warn others to do their homework and be extra careful when selecting a moving company.
At first, my impression of these people was quite positive and of no concern whatsoever. A mentality I had was ‘let’s get this done together, I trust you’. Now that it’s said and done, in hindsight, I was so very mistaken. Be sure not to make the same mistake. Get multiple bids and ensure they do a detailed inventory of your belongings. During the move, watch their EVERY move. They won’t always be forthright about having damaged your stuff. But you’ll notice it days later after you’ve made payment as you settle into your new place. Also, be sure to take a look inside the truck once your belongings have (supposedly) all been moved to your new residence. Things get honestly (or otherwise) missed.
1) The cost of my move was grossly underestimated. The original estimate was for $2100 which seemed reasonable. Given all of the positive online reviews, coupled with their initial (and ultimately grossly underestimated) cost, I blindly selected The Moving Company. Not only was their cost underestimated by 76% (I ultimately paid them $3700), the move required two trucks on two separate days scheduled one week apart. This could have been a worse problem but fortunately the first move was well before my closing date. This cost estimate was also after I invited them to my home to see my stuff and was assured their estimator is so very good that there would be no reason for me to think their estimate was totally inaccurate. SHAME ON ME FOR TRUSTING THEM.
2) Several of my belongings were damaged including my beloved piano. Why would they assert they have the expertise to move a piano and then mess it up royally? Such a disappointment. Had I known they didn’t have this expertise, I would have hired this item out separately. I’ve been quite forgiving for other damaged items. Moving is just plain hard on stuff. But now that they have failed to compensate me for the damage to the piano, in hindsight, I should have demanded the other damaged items be included in the ‘insurance claim’. SHAME ON ME FOR TRUSTING THEM.
3) Missing items. 2 missing boxes I am unable to confirm as received. Another item was admittedly not moved off the truck by the driver/mover. It was confirmed as still being on the truck the following morning. I’ve been promised they will ship this item to me or have it placed on a truck when they have another job to my destination city. It makes me wonder how many other items were missed getting off their truck which I just haven’t yet realized are missing. Now my telephone calls to retrieve my property go unreturned. SHAME ON ME FOR TRUSTING THEM AND FOR PAYING THEM PRIOR TO AFFIRMING ALL ITEMS WERE MOVED OFF THE TRUCK!
So, here I am in my new home and, having written this honest review, only now do I have closure to my poor buying decision. The only way I can move on (no pun intended) is to describe my experience, albeit an unforgiving review for these people. They have demonstrated no care but rather complete apathy for my belongings which I have worked hard over my lifetime to obtain. Hopefully this will allow them to rethink their unscrupulous business practices and consider treating others as they would like to be treated. Do yourself a favor and be forewarned, this is not a business to trust especially for a life changing event such as moving.

This company is recommended by Consumer Affairs. Angie's List. Everything they do is highly unethical if not illegal. They rip off both the contractors and homeowners. They double dip for the same lead across all of their different companies that they own including HomeAdvisor, Fixd, Handy.com, and others. They have fake websites posing as individual construction companies. Their managers change the spend targets for leads on contractor's accounts without their knowledge or agreeing. The sales reps lie and are promoted too. They do not tell new members they are locked into an annual contract, I paid them $300 to advertise and now I am out $2,700 ($1800 to cancel contract). They are now filling other site boards such as Sitejabber and BBB with good reviews from homeowners to cover up.
If the contractor doesn't have the proper licensing for what he does the sales reps will change the state and tasks so they can get a deal. Now they are ripping off the homeowner with their fixed pricing. If you get Any leads they are for things your company does not do and you are lucky if you get a single lead. There are tons of other illegal things going on. Too many to count. I had a horrible experience with them. Do your research and you will find this is one of the biggest scams out there running businesses into the ground by the minute. You will only get a big hole in your bank account!!

Me, being a doubting first-timer thanks to several previous surveys here on this helpful website, I'd rather talk to a person so I make the Call 567-205-3672 option. The slightly-accented friendly person picks up after a nominal wait and says, "Sure I can help you start your project: please give me your credit card number and only after the work is completed will your card be charged." Hmmm, do I trust Angi? Sure, what could go wrong?
The rep says, "I have your appt set up for Wednesday." Wow- that's quick which I appreciate: "Wed as in tomorrow or next week Wed?" "No not next week, tomorrow." Great I say. "What's the final price?" "$413 discounted down to $333- quite a savings for you right?!?" "WOW hold the phone, what happened to $204 or even $240?" "Yes I see the $240 but that isn't right; but I can start your project for the huge savings of $333." To me, that would be a savings for my project. But I'm losing interest fast: "I need to talk to a manager." "Ok, np, I'll connect you."
I get the email setting up my appt for the Following Wed, and Just for kicks, I check my credit card account- sure enough- a pending charge for $333. Good things come in threes? After another nominal wait I talk to a kind-speaking accented person with matching-noise-volume of the call-center that he is in. "Can you make sense of this?" "Sure," he says, "Everything looks right to me: $333 for the following Wed." Me, "I'm ready to cancel." Np, he says, "No more appt and no charges." And I'm out, Whew, done and done.
Original Review: Uh-Oh, I hope I'm not in for a rough ride like the several other complaints - I signed into the Angi app, I filled out the request for a type of work, it said $400 for the work, which might be a bit high, but okay, I hit NEXT>. Then it said to list more comments in detail about the work needed to be done - I paused maybe 20 minutes doing other stuff online, then I get a call: Scam Likely the Sprint phone tells me. Didn't pick up but the voice mail said Hey I see your request for help from HomeAdvisor! (Apparently they DO share info w/ each other now!) Uh-oh, how did he know I wanted the work done before I finished the details??? More later.

Or so I thought. My phone has literally rang 30+ times, just this morning...it's only 10 am. I have over 100 angi related emails in my inbox...I "signed up" yesterday afternoon (Sunday). I gave a one time gift of $300 via my cc to get a family friend started with Angie’s List. They removed my cc for the account after that gift payment. They also decided not to continue with Angie’s list, which is considered breaking the contract and leaded to outstanding fees. I get that. But unbeknownst to me Angie’s list took it upon themselves determined to get their money they went digging back to find someone or some card to charge to. They charged my card without my permission over $1000 in charges, overdrawing my account and causing numerous overdraft fees. They Refuse to refund my account, basically holding my cc hostage unless the account holder provides a chargeable card. This is not my problem.
If they aren’t able to get their fees from the account holder they should turn this in for collections. What’s funny is I called them right away when I discovered the charge and they said they couldn’t discuss this with me as it was private and could only be discussed with the account holder. I said, "That’s odd because you were okay with charging my cc to the “private account” so therefore I should be able to get information. It’s MY card you charged." They refused to help. I have had to shut my card off, get a new one. All the while my account is overdrawn, my regular payments are trying to come through. It’s a mess but thank God my bank is working with me and considers this fraud. Has opened up a investigation and I’m getting an attorney.

I was really excited when I found a company that had good reviews, and was only a few towns down from me. I requested a quote/information from this company, or so I thought. Imagine my surprise when I start receiving MULTIPLE phone calls from places that aren't even that company in particular. Not ONE of those phone calls left a voicemail either. Instead, my phone screened those calls and I just have a transcript of what they said, but they didn't leave a voicemail. Clearly Angie's List (which has merged with HomeAdvisor so beware of them too), is selling our information. Do not use this website. Do your own research, and reach out to companies VIA their websites directly. I'm clearly going to be getting calls thanks to this for a long time.

Their review system is awful, no investigation whatsoever, no call, etc. Anyone can go on their site and post reviews, as a matter of fact, they recommend that your friends post positive reviews so your score goes up (what???). They do not provide support for your questions or issues when you need. They manipulate reviews and control who can leave one and who cant! They allow a bad review from a bogus client (meaning we never spoke to this person) and they also reject any reviews they want. They are the worst run service on the internet. And that goes for HomeAdvisor as well. They are both owners and run by the same company, Angi Home Services, Inc. I was lied to by "Joe" on providing military discount. He promised to send my money $897.27 back on Thursday 6/9/20. On 6/16/20 I had to call again to remind him of my $897.27 payment, he was completely unprofessional and even called me a "girl" for complaining to him about him not keeping his word of honoring his 10% military discount. He stated since I had complained about him "lying" he was not giving me a discount. He was belligerent and the GIRL comment was said like a homophobic slur. I would not ever utilize that company again.
The initial 700 payment was for them to diagnose the A/C problem. This was a misdiagnose, stating that I would need (2) coils in my two Carrier units. Total cost would have been over $3100.00. I decided to get a second opinion. The company charged me $150.00 to tell me that the thermostat was wired wrong by JDL, in the bottom unit and the upstairs unit needed a fan. $350.00. So instead of 3100, I will pay 500$, plus the 700$ that I paid for thermostat that was wired into the heating unit, not the A/C....

Terrible leads (we question whether they are legitimate) and poor service from AL. About 75% of the requests for service were for services our company does not provide, but AL could not figure out how to properly categorize our services or communicate accurate information with their members. We finally canceled our contract to put a stop to the nuisance leads. A complete waste of time and money! We DO NOT RECOMMEND doing business with Angie's List/Home Advisor. It was a terrible experience for our company. If we could give them a grade, it would be an "D-" as they were very responsive when it came selling us a worthless service.

We signed up with Angie's List on March of last year. For the first few months, we were receiving leads from counties we don't service nor advertise, and even from out of state (NY, where we don't even have a license for), so basically not valid leads. We called customer support many times to let them know, and every time they said they would fix it, but kept happening for another 3-4 months. After they finally changed it to advertise us just on Bergen County (area we DO service), we did receive a few leads from our area, but still mixed with a lot of other areas we don't service. More invalid leads than valid ones. Bottom line, absolutely not worth the money spent monthly.
This being said, we called Angie's List customer support one more time, but this time to cancel the service. They said that they could cancel it, but we would have to pay a significant early termination fee, which would make it a lot more expensive than just keeping it for the remainder of the year contract, if we were to grab at least a couple of jobs here and there. We kept it, but mentioned that we would NOT renew it for the following year.
We are also subscribed to Home Advisor, which we pay per lead instead of monthly like Angie's List, and at one point we started receiving leads on Home Advisor that said "Lead submitted via Angie's List". This is where we realized that Home Advisor and Angie’s List are owned by the same people, and we were paying twice for the same lead. We are paying Home Advisor for that lead that came in, but also Angie’s List monthly for the same lead that found us on their platform. We called customer support again, and they tried to explain how it worked and why we weren’t paying twice, but didn’t make sense at all.
At this point we asked again to cancel our contract, to which we were told one more time that it would be an early termination with a high fee. We were again convinced to keep it till the end of the contract. Once again we let them know that we would continue with the subscription until the end of the contract, but we would NOT renew it. This year we sent them an email asking when the contract was up, with the idea of NOT renewing.
They answered right away saying that our contract had been renewed for another year, after we specifically mentioned at least a couple of times that we didn’t want to renew. We told them that we didn’t want to renew, and that they knew that from last year, and they said they sent us an email regarding the renewal, and if we wanted to cancel the contract, we would have to pay an early termination fee. EARLY??? We told them last year that we didn’t want to renew!
We also told them we didn’t receive any emails from them, but they kept saying they did send it. We checked again the email address we have in their system, but couldn’t find anything. They then said they sent it to an email address we haven’t used in over a year, and we don’t even have in our Angie’s List platform. Even though we kept saying that that email address was not in use for over a year and it’s not the one they have on file, they kept insisting that the email was sent and because they didn’t receive a reply, they auto-renewed the contract. That is insane. AND THAT EMAIL WAS NEVER OPENED until they told us they sent it there.
We told them many times that it was ok to charge us for the couple of months of the running year, but to please cancel that contract with no early termination fees, but we always got a negative response. We can't say for sure we know how to ensure we can cancel after maximizing what we are committed to since if we cancel now we pay early termination fee, and if they send us a renewal email under the radar again and we don't catch it, you automatically are renewed. Not surprisingly, if you Google Angie's List for complaints, you will see many negative reviews about their deceptive business practices and questionable validity of how they promote the "best" service providers.
I suppose what is most surprising of all though is, in these current unprecedented times where businesses, especially contractors that focus on residential/non-commercial customers who either have been financially impacted by the COVID crisis or are afraid and want to distance themselves from the risk of virus exposure,, Angie's list is taking a very hard line.
Insurance companies are voluntarily reducing premiums, small businesses are feeding front line essential workers, banks and credit cards are easing restrictions, but Angie's list management won't even return phone calls to if nothing else have a fair conversation. Calls to customer service who referred us to a manager and promised a call back followed by 5 voice mail messages were not even returned.
The salesman said you signed the contract and they will not deviate from it, even though we never knowingly opted into a renewal. Legality aside, in these times, is this the company you want to have your back or be your "trusted advisor?" There are two sides to every story, so I encourage you to Google "Angie’s List Complaints, Angie’s List Scam, Angie’s List Deceptive Sales Practices" to name a few searches. If you are a consumer I encourage you to do the same, including looking at consumer reports and phrases like "Is Angie's List Reputable?"

Well Angie’s List singlehandedly became a huge expense with no results but a major waste of time. Other contractors use the service to see what you charge, the bidding war aspect of the service guarantees the customer receives the worst quality service and the business (me) on Angie’s List has no incentive to do a good job because there is no profit margin. There are so many flaws built in this system it is on a mission of self destruction.
Angie’s List customer service and culture is horrid. Just try to terminate your contract. There is an underlined tone of threat that is implied and felt. Suddenly, like magic, your phone rings daily with customers that waste your time with unusual questions and delays to simply cancel a job at the last moment. Most strange. I just discovered that we have fake negative reviews, for our company, on services we have never performed, ever! There is no way to contest these. We are not an auto repair shop and the client reviews are not people we ever sold anything to. There is literally no one to talk to in resolving this. We have a pristine record everywhere else online, but here. It's nuts. In fact, every detail about our company is wrong there...just the name is correct. It looks like someone made a fake account here just to try to trash us.

I have been advertising on AL for years, they increase my rates every year (contract). When you search for my company the only results that come up are my competitors. They apparently switched their billing company so last month we spent hours across several days, they made a duplicate account and charged my monthly fee ($1490). This month they had the same problem, I have been talking to them on the phone and emailing them for weeks. They could not resolve the problem and locked me out of my account. Clown show. An absolute waste of money for any advertiser. AL was a good idea when it came out but was sold and now being ** out. Google reviews, Yelp.... Not AL.

Angie's List is nothing more than a Pyramid and advertising website that in contrast to their claim, do not vet or pre-qualify any contractors. I contacted one of their recommended contractors and was contacted by a technician after an hour. He showed up for his appointment the following day about thirty minutes late and tried to diagnose the problem with my dishwasher. Without proper testing he declared that control panel was defective. He then charged me what I thought was totally unreasonable and said he would get the part from local store and will be back. That was six days ago.
This afternoon, Kelly at Angie's list called me and after hearing my complaint boldly placed the blame on the contractor claiming that they are just an advertising company and accepts no responsibility for the contractors they recommend. Imagine that.... Beware before you use this company. In my view, Angie's list is not a reliable site for employing ANY genuine services and you are liable to get a carpet cleaner to repair your television.

As a owner I used Angie's List for several years and it use to be great. I loved the clients I received and the process, as well as a couple agents. Over the last months I have noticed a change. My requests I received from clients were going down, and when I did receive one, they didn't respond or it was a very low profit job. I did some research and found out they are now joined with HomeAdvisor. We had tried home advisor for a month a while back and it was the biggest scam joke we have ever encountered. Angie's list has moved down the same path. My profit has gone way down with them.
For those who don't know how they work... They take a customer's request and give it to everyone that does the same line of work and then it becomes a bidding war. It is ridiculous and we don't want any part of it. Our pricing is based on our experience level and quality. It's like going to a cheap China version of a product. The customer base income has gone down. The jobs that use to come in were high paying, now it barley covers the money I paid them. Even worse.. I called to talk to the rep (which of course is someone new, estimate at least 10 of them) and she certainly didn't care and was rude. Of all the reps I have talked to on the phone, like Yelp, Houzz, etc, she was the worst one. I don't recommend Angie's list to a customer or owner. FYI customers- I am not the only business owner they have run off.. I would look through another source if you are looking for quality work!

The review complained that I didnt return for warranty work on a basement remodel. He failed to mention he owed me 1800.00 for the job. I emailed him after I saw the review and threatened to sue him. He paid me the next day and still did not request warranty work. There is no way to make a rebuttal. Not fair, scam artists that are owned by HomeAdvisor. Our company was contacted by Angie's List sales representative in February of 2019. Angie's failed to deliver on what it sold and committed to. We were lied to, apologized to, lied to again. Angie's List continued auto charging our bank account while not delivering prospective leads. We were told and paid for 22 - 27 leads per month. We spent time, money, and energy mapping out in detail our coverage area. The first leads that were sent through were nowhere near our coverage area, some two hours away. After logging many calls and emails, we were told this was an error on behalf of Angie's List. Things only got worse, expecting and paying for a minimum of 22 - 27 leads per month we were getting zero to a handful of leads, many of which were of no quality.
We were told by an Angie's List senior account manager he had clients that paid 200,000 per year and that he did not have time to deal with our complaints and problems. Ironically, we placed dozens of call and sent dozens of emails, we would receive a lead or two. We sent Angie's List a detailed complaint and demand that all auto charges were no longer authorized until Angie's List corrected the problem and compensated our company for the loss of business and non-delivery of leads. Angie's List committed wire fraud on three occasions.
For the record over a 10 month period we were told we would receive, and we paid for 22 - 27 leads per month, cumulatively 220 - 270 leads over this period, we paid for. As of this review, our company received 49 leads over ten months, a third of which were of poor quality. In November 2019, we learned at breakfast with other contractors, HomeAdvisor pay per lead contractors were getting Angie's List leads, while monthly Angie's List subscribers were not receiving leads, in the exact same coverage area. We filed a complaint with Angie's List. We were first told Angie's List has no control over how many leads a client receives regardless of monthly fee amount. When we called them out on the HomeAdvisor and Angie's List dilemma, we were given a different story. Angie's List found an excuse, in their opinion to ignore the facts. We have asked for explanations and answers and have received none.
Angie's List canceled our agreement, kept all our money, several thousand dollars, did not produce what Angie's List promised, and said it was because we were a pain, and complained too much. In a contractor's world, our customers expect to receive what they pay for, and we deliver. Angie's List should be investigated by the FTC, the FCC, and every state that Angie's List operates in physically or over the internet. We have filed wire and bank fraud charges. To this date Angie's List ignores all our questions, and has not refunded a single dime.

Our fireplace was only 4 years old, we questioned him on that comment. Stated we were wrong and gave us a brochure to buy a new fireplace from them.
We were referred to another company. When the service man came out, he call Omega and asked them what they did for $625.00. Alpha Omega would not reimburse us and the owner would not call us back. Yup they just set my account up all wrong and I was profiled on the other end of the state of Oregon!!! Well I called, called, and called again and filled out paper after paper and nothing changed at all! I had customers call in to leave reviews and not one review ever showed up, after they told me to have customers call in.
Later found out that 80 percent of call ins get lost due to third party company that handles call in reviews! Ok.. So I had enough and decided to leave well good luck with that I owe them over a thousand dollars and they will not call me back, MANAGERS will not call back. I am sick to my stomach knowing that I was scammed out of a lot of money! Please if you are reading this DO NOT use angieslist. Terrible company and terrible staff. So, I have been with Angie's List for 7 years. But now I am done. They have been bought out by Home Advisor, and now they are giving Angie's list leads to the home advisor contractors..most are not on Angie's list. A contractor pays a set rate a year to be on Angie's list. Home advisor sends your job to 3 or more contractors, all of them are charged a fee for that lead. It is sad to see what used to be a great thing for consumers turned into a greedy non caring company. If you are a contractor, stay away. It is now a pay to play, the more you pay the more, supposedly the more leads you will get. It's bull.
If you're a homeowner thinking of using Angie's list or home advisor, use Next door or Google instead. The contractors that your going to get now, i would not want in my house. Currently Angie's list has a one star rating on the Better Business Website, and this is copied off the Better Business website, or BBB.. Alert. See What BBB Reports On Pattern of Complaint. BBB files indicate that HomeAdvisor has a pattern of complaints concerning Product Issues, Refund Issues, Billing Issues, and Customer Service Issues. On July 26th, 2019, BBB submitted a written request to the company encouraging them to address the pattern of complaints. As of September 19th, 2019, HomeAdvisor is working directly with BBB to reach an amicable resolution to this pattern.

After questioning why Kenneth wasn't writing anything we needed done for his estimate (he has a good memory?) we gave him a list of one larger project (rewire for downdraft oven) and several smaller projects. Kenneth left and we did not hear from him again until we reminded him we needed the estimate. He then sent a fair estimate and we asked if we could arrange to do the larger project first and then follow up with the remaining smaller ones since the smaller projects required purchasing replacement lights, etc.
We were already behind and wanted to move forward. Kenneth agreed but did not get back to us for a few weeks. I reminded him and he emailed me at 9pm about an opening he had the next day between 930a-10a. "Sure, let's take the day off and get the work done since he is finally available." He sent his father (Partner?) who did nothing but complain about why did his son send him here by himself to do a 2 man job? And after speaking with his son, the father told me he couldn't do the job but he had disconnected the appliance (oven), I should order my new oven and that they would be back. Angie’s list is a scam and allow me to explain why it’s a scam. I’m speaking from the position of a service provider that has advertised with Angie's List and not a consumer who is looking for services. Angie’s List wants your money and providing you with quality referrals are last on their list. Angie’s List is a “Zero accountability” company in that everything is the customers fault and they are responsible for nothing when in fact they are responsible for everything.
In August of 2019 I entered a contract with Angie’s list to advertise for my business. It was the minimum of $300.00 per month for 1 year and a total of $3,600.00. They rushed me through the process not giving me adequate time to get my reviews posted. Then some of my customer posted reviews for me online but some flaw in Angie's list system prevented those reviews from being posted to my profile. Ok that’s no big deal right? As long as calls are coming in I will manage this situation.
So I made the $300.00 payments for August and September and over the course of those 2 months I received a total of 8 forms of contact. Not exactly good when you compared the amount of money I was paying. To make matters worse 5 of those 8 forms of contact were WRONG NUMBERS!!! Yes you read that correctly. I was receiving calls for other businesses on my phone number that I have had for 20 years. I contacted my representative and it was at that point I learned that the number displayed on my ad was not my phone number but rather a number created by Angie’s list that was part of a “relay service”.
Angie’s list uses a relay service to control the calls that come in for service providers. This was never disclosed to me when they were trying to sign me up for services. If they had ever said “Oh by the way….your phone number won’t be displayed on the ad and instead we post some bogus number that’s part of a relay system so we can fully control how many calls you get” I would have never entered into any agreement with Angie’s list had I known of this.
As we entered October of 2019 I was not getting any calls at all and of the 2 legitimate calls I received (2 calls, 1 email) I closed on one deal that yielded a meager $300.00. In the 2nd week of October 2019 I received yet another wrong number coming from Angie’s list (This was the last of the 8 contacts) and I abruptly cancelled the contract. I spoke to my representative and no accountability was taken by Angie’s list and in fact they tried to blame me for the wrong numbers!! Even though they are aware of the use of the relay service they still tried to place the blame on me and that somehow MY NUMBER was associated with some other service??? They also informed me that I would still be responsible for 35% of the remaining contract since I was cancelling early.
Upon entering November 2019 I was able to close on the 2nd contact received in late September. That job yielded $3,000.00. At this time Angie’s list is threatening to send me to collections for the sum of $1,200.00 for the 35% of the remaining contract following my cancellation. They take no accountability for hiding valuable information involving my ad (I.E My phone number not being displayed) and refuse to admit that they breached this contract when I was receiving wrong numbers from consumers seeking service providers. This raises the question of “If I’m receiving wrong numbers from people looking for other service providers then how many people called on my ad and were also relayed to wrong service providers??”. It’s a fair and legitimate question.
Angie’s list is now taking the position of “Big business” and trying to bully the little guy (Me) and care nothing about the horrible service received or the very obvious fact that they breached the agreement and hid very important information from me that would have prevented me from doing business with them in the first place. DO NOT do business with these people!! Do business with people that are accountable and not just trying to steal your money and giving horrible service in return.

After talking to the “friendly” voice, I was told that the “free” membership would just add my name to the hundreds of others, but that “paid” advertisers in an area were featured on the first page! At first they tried to get me to spend $800./month but settled on $600. They developed a service area that I would be advertising in, and promised many leads... however-talk is cheap!
I complied with all their requests.... got 5 5star reviews, proceeded over the course of 2 months ($1200.00) of expenditure, to get 23 “leads” to which I responded to immediately by phone, text, and email. Of the 23 I was able to talk to 6... bid 4, and win 2 jobs - one decent one (as far as profit), and the other to replace a bedroom! I tried to go on to Angie’s list to see if I coming up on the first page as promised, only to not be able to find my company at ALL! When I called, they said “oh, it’s a glitch in the system - we didn’t have you listed in your own zip! It would be properly listed there by the next day." Two weeks later I tried again, and again nowhere to be found! At this point I began reaching out to cancel my campaign, as it was obviously NOT WORKING for me.
I kept getting “handled” for 3 weeks until crunch time, when they were going to take another $600! They told me that I had electronically signed a contract and I was on the hook for $7200.! An early cancellation would cost 35% or $2100. The set up gal had told me that I could cancel the contract after 60 days if I didn’t think it was a worthwhile investment... but that almost never happened! At no time did they say anything about a 35% early termination fee - and when I tried to stop the draw on my bank card, they started with the threats, etc. (by advice I had temporarily blocked my card so they couldn’t draw.)
The next day after I unblocked it - they took the payment! Finally they sent me the “contract in it’s entirety”. Even though the lady who signed me up told me that I could cancel TWICE, on two different occasions, that piece of info never made it to the recording for the “independent resolution team” to hear and rule in my favor! It is a highly polished, deceptive scam! You judge,

Ray's Hauling is fantastic!!! Ray was here within 30 minutes of our call. He and an assistant picked up my 7' sofa and were gone in less than 5 minutes. They were both very personable, professional and gracious...it was a very positive experience.

We were extremely well pleased with how our hard floors looked. They looked much better than we had even expected. They called/texted immediately, were on time for the application, were courteous, the charge was not only reasonable but we paid after we had seen the finished floors. I highly recommend Fabulous Floors!!

Horrible customer service. For almost a year I was a customer of Angie's List. I decided to cancel my account and pay out the debt because every time I called my success manager I was not able to reach him out. Always out of his desk and the most frustrating part is that never returned my calls. But from all my frustration this one takes all my energy out, how is it possible for a company that wants to be successful not to make sure the employees are taking care of the customers. I called and emailed several times my success manager and others to cancel my account and leave it in good stand. Same issue, not responding my calls and nobody was been responsible with this manner, just like LALA Land.
Finally I docusigned the document where I provided my card and signatures for the final payment of 382.07 (all of this is based on existing proof). I requested several times a receipt and never receive it. 3 months later (yesterday) a letter came to my house saying that I had to pay a total amount of $400 otherwise I will sent to collections. When I called I got told for my surprise that the card that I use for the payment didn't went through, the lady also stated that a mail was sent to me a day after this incident. I never received any letter and when I asked why they never contact me over the phone or my email, she stated that they are only required to send a mail not more than that.
This is total insanity, matter fact Angie's List your employees are not taking their job seriously, I end up paying less than what I suppose to originally and did more for your company by calling several times to pay off what was remaining than your unprofessional group of kids. I'm going to make sure no other hard working person get the same horrible treatment I got.

We had a problem with our GE fridge dispenser (no water/Ice) that was giving us fits (would work and next time not work). Matt from County Wide came out and diagnosed problem as the touchpad, which I thought it was. Checked it out and worked OK. Next day back to doing the same thing. Matt came back out and found the main board also was malfunctioning which he said most likely was the original problem and that he had never seen this before. He replaced the board for NO ADDITIONAL COST to us. And that folks is true customer service. They certainly have a customer for life with us and I am more than happy to give them kudos and hope that they keep up the good work.
