Amazon Prime was the first streamer to join forces with the NFL. Now, Netflix will take the field this Christmas.
The streaming platform has announced that it will broadcast two NFL games on Christmas Day – the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Houston Texans.
For those without a Netflix subscription, there are two other ways to tune in this Christmas: with an NFL+ subscription, or on local broadcasts in the competing teams’ cities.
“Last year, we decided to take a big bet on live – tapping into massive fandoms across comedy, reality TV, sports, and more,” said Bela Bajaria, chief content officer at Netflix. “There are no annual live events, sports, or otherwise, that compare with audiences NFL football attracts. We’re so excited that the NFL’s Christmas Day games will be only on Netflix.”
More football to come
Netflix has signed a three-year deal with the NFL, so this year’s Christmas games mark the first round of football to be broadcast on the platform. For both 2025 and 2026, Netflix will stream at least one holiday NFL game.
Going hand-in-hand with the holiday games, Netflix has plans to release more football-related content throughout the year.
On the heels of the release of Quarterback in 2023, Netflix will be releasing Receiver this summer. The docuseries follows five NFL wide receivers – Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Amon-Ra St. Brown – throughout the most recent football season.
