How does Safe Ship Moving Services work?

Safe Ship Moving Services is a licensed interstate broker, meaning it connects customers with qualified carriers to complete local and long-distance moves. Safe Ship Moving’s services include local, long-distance, corporate, military and some international moves.

Each move is assigned a dedicated coordinator who is the main point of contact during the process. The coordinator will work with you to book a carrier for your specific move at a price that works for your budget.

If a problem comes up, customers can reach out to their coordinator, who will try to solve or escalate the issue. Reviews show some customers have positive experiences with quick help, while others mention delays or trouble getting answers.

Since Safe Ship Moving Services is a broker, a third-party carrier will do the move, and you may not get carrier details until close to your moving date. This means that pricing can change, since brokers give estimates that carriers might adjust based on the actual move.

Safe Ship Moving Services cost

A move with Safe Ship Moving Services can cost anywhere from $2,000 to over $10,000.

Customers can get a more accurate quote by entering details such as the pickup and destination ZIP codes, the size of the move and the moving date in an online form and wait for a call back from a representative. You can also request a quote by calling or chatting with an agent via the company’s website.

The total cost of your move will depend on factors such as distance, the weight and volume of your belongings, the time of year and any additional services or specialty items you have.

  • Corporate moves: Safe Ship helps employees and companies relocate over long distances. A personal move coordinator facilitates the process.

  • Military moves: Safe Shipping Moving Services helps military members and their families with domestic moves and transfers. Its team is available to help service members year-round.

  • International moves: Safe Ship Moving Services assists with some international relocations. Speak to a moving agent to see if Safe Ship can assist with your move overseas.

Safe Ship Moving Services FAQ

Is Safe Ship Moving a carrier or broker?

Safe Ship Moving is a licensed interstate broker that connects people with carriers that do the actual moving. You can verify Safe Ship Moving’s registration as a household goods moving broker on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website.

Note that if you have questions or concerns before or during your move, you may need to deal with both Safe Ship Moving and the carrier.

Is Safe Ship Moving licensed and insured?

Yes, Safe Ship Moving is licensed with the federal government as a household goods moving broker. You can view insurance and bond information on the FMCSA website.

Where is Safe Ship Moving located?

Safe Ship Moving is located in Boynton Beach, Florida.

How do you file a damage or loss claim with Safe Ship Moving?

To file a damage or loss claim with Safe Ship, contact your assigned moving coordinator. If an item is damaged or lost during your move, your coordinator will work with you to file a claim directly with your carrier. You must file a claim within nine months of the date of delivery.

Does Safe Ship Moving offer binding estimates?

Safe Ship Moving provides estimates that may be subject to change based on the final inventory confirmed during the initial call. Customers should clarify whether their estimate is binding or non-binding before signing any agreement.

Still have questions?

Is Safe Ship Moving Services legit?

Yes, Safe Ship Moving is a legitimate moving company. Safe Ship Moving is a good option if you want help coordinating a local or long-distance move and don’t mind working with a broker instead of a carrier directly. The company assigns each customer a dedicated move coordinator and offers services like full-service packing, storage, and corporate and military moves.

Customers who had positive experiences consistently mentioned responsive communication, on-time pickup crews and careful handling of belongings. A reviewer in Bayside, New York, captured the sentiment well, praising everyone from the initial contact to the quality assurance team: "Moving across eight states is stressful, but their reassurance and open communication gave me real peace of mind throughout the process."

However, information on Safe Ship Moving’s website is limited, and customers must call or request a callback to get pricing details. Because Safe Ship is a broker, a third-party carrier completes the move, and final pricing or carrier details may not be confirmed until closer to moving day.

We recommend comparing carrier information, features, prices and customer service from Safe Ship Moving with offerings from other brokers and carriers to make the right decision for you.

My experience with Safe Ship Moving Services has received 5 stars due to one singular employee. The move, as a whole, was very stressful and the communication between the 3rd party movers and their employees left plenty of room for improvement. Had it not been for a post pickup survey call from Adel, I would have lost all confidence in the company and its subcontractors entirely. It was not Adel's duty to find solutions to all the issues I was having. He was only supposed to be the guy that took my survey.

He mentioned to me that if he could be of service in any way to reach out. Because Adel made me feel heard about my concerns and because he took the time to actually have a real conversation with me, I was able to trust him and confidently rely on him to help me navigate the extremely stressful situations the actual movers were putting me in. All I had to do was text him and he was on the phone with me or whomever was needed. He was an amazing liaison. After all the stress and chaos was reconciled, Adel again reached out to me the following day to check on me and to make sure all was well. Give Adel a raise. He deserves it!!

I have never moved out of state before, and I am already an anxious person. Safe Ship has been transparent and I absolutely love having a one-stop-shop. I used PODS when I went to college, so having actual movers was great. Safe Ship handled so much, including reaching back out to the movers because of some items I didn't double check (like Freddy had asked me to). All in all, making my experience so much less stressful than it could have been.

Moving company facilitators have a bad reputation but Safe Ship is not one of them. They kept in touch with us every step of the way. Their estimate was more than the final amount, they are very particular about details of what you are moving, thorough, and polite. I thought I had paid extra for expedited shipping and when they said they didn’t have that in their records, they also said they would look into it to determine where they had failed. Then I remembered I had cancelled the expedited delivery. Nice to know they were so concerned about their services.

The final amount was LESS than the original $ given which made us very happy. The movers they hired could not have been better. They wrapped everything and loaded it as if every piece was their own antique (we had no antiques), they were on time, and very polite. I highly recommend Safe Ship to everyone! We originally planned to hire someone to load our own rented truck and then unload at the new residence 800 miles away but Safe Ship was $800 less on their original estimate, plus more on the final amount.

      Reviewed Oct. 9, 2026

I was the person receiving this shipment from Safe Ship Moving Services, and it was one of the most stressful experiences I've had with any company. The pressure started at pickup. Madelene, who booked the move, described it like this: "At pickup, at my house in California, just after they loaded up the truck with my belongings, the crew asked me to open an account and said I had to write a review before they would continue the work. This was before the journey had even begun and before I had made any payment, which created significant pressure to do it right then. I didn't want to open an account, but they told me I had to open an account on Trustpilot to submit the review. Even more concerning, the packers then stayed inside my house for an extended period of time, waiting to see my review and confirm that the company had received it. This made me feel pressured and extremely uncomfortable in my own home."

First, the delivery was unreliable from start to finish. On Monday, the company told me they would deliver on Wednesday morning between 10 and 12. I took Wednesday, September 30th, off work for that window. By noon, nobody had shown up. At 2 PM they called and said the driver would come at night, around 9 PM. I told them that was too late, but I agreed because I had no other choice. After that, nobody contacted me again. When they didn't show up that night, I called them, and finally, around 11 PM, someone picked up the phone and told me they couldn't come and would come tomorrow instead. I told them I couldn't take a second day off work. They gave me a new delivery window of 9 AM to 12, along with two options.

Option one: the truck would wait until I got back from work, since I told them I could be there around 5 or 6 PM, and that waiting would cost me somewhere between $700 and $1,000. Option two: they would take my shipment to storage and give me another delivery date, somewhere between 15 days and a month later, and charge me for delivery and storage, which would cost around $2,500 in total, much more than waiting. Because of those two options, I had no real choice and took a second day off work to avoid the fee. They put my job at risk because they are very unreliable. On that second day, October 1st, the movers again did not show up. At 4 PM someone from the company called and said they were coming around 6. They finally showed up around 9 PM, very late at night.

Second, the crew was unprofessional. They were smoking while carrying my things in — shocking, especially for movers, since fabric and furniture absorb odor and people can have allergic reactions to it. They also damaged a wall in my apartment while bringing items inside, leaving a cracked dent in the drywall just above the baseboard. I have photos of it.

Third, the payment standoff at my door. The truck that pulled up wasn't Safe Ship's. It belonged to a completely different company. The driver didn't speak English, and he wore no uniform or company shirt, so for all I knew he could have been anyone. He wanted the full amount before he would open anything. In his words: "I'm going to deliver the boxes. You have to pay me first. Then I will open the truck and give your boxes." He wouldn't let me see, count or inspect a single box. I asked if I could at least count them first and pay once the work was finished. He just said no, no, no, it's not going to work like that. Then the payment itself turned into a mess. Dispatch had given me one Venmo and told me to pay the company. The driver gave me his own phone number for Venmo and said no, don't pay the company, pay the full amount to me.

I called Safe Ship customer service, and they told me I could pay either them or the driver. I had two different people telling me to send the full amount to two different places, and I honestly didn't know who I was supposed to pay. So there I was at night, stuck between a stranger holding all my belongings and a company that also wanted my money. It was extremely stressful. Fourth, the condition of the shipment. As Madelene has already explained to the company in writing, every box was either partially soaked or wet. Many of the belongings inside were damaged and some were ruined completely. We have photos of all of it:

      - Cardboard boxes dark with water stains and buckling, with water pooling on the floor underneath them
      - A box of wine and cocktail glasses, almost all of them shattered
      - A dinner plate, a "Merry Christmas" serving platter and a large holiday ornament, all cracked or broken
      - A blue glass bowl in pieces and a white ceramic piece smashed

      - Two plastic storage bins with their sides and lids cracked and split open

On top of that, items from the shipment are still missing. Don't. Protect yourself and don't work with them. These are scammers. These are unprofessional. They hurt and they charge you a lot.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. These scammers were originally going to charge me around $7500 to move my house less than an hour away, and at the end of the day, they ended up charging me over $12,000. I paid for white glove service, meaning they were to pack up my entire house, and unpack the house in the new location. First of all, they left multiple rooms completely unpacked, to the point my husband and I had to take 2 additional weekends ourselves to rent a moving truck and get everything moved ourselves. Additionally, they did not unpack a single thing at the new house. Just left incredibly heavy boxes all on the ground floor for us to take care of ourselves.

I am 6 months pregnant and my husband had a recent back injury, so we were not please at all. On top of that, there were boxes they 'forgot' to deliver, so they returned them to the original house, meaning we had to rent a truck once again to go and retrieve heavy boxes that they packed up. I disputed this with my credit card company because I truly feel scammed. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!!!

This place is full of fast-talking "we have 5 star ratings" salespeople Do. Not. Do. Business. With. Them. Don't do it. I know you want to. But I cannot DO NOT RECOMMEND them hard enough. First, the number of calls you get is astounding. The number of text messages, even more. I understand persistence, but breathe please. It's a tornado of communication. But that's not the issue....

The issue is that I was given a take-off-of-work window of 12p-4p arrival. I got a call saying that the movers would instead be there at 6p. Sure. The issue is that they sent the moveR -- yes, one. single. mover -- who showed up at 7:30p. They sent one man to move all of my things. When I saw my things on the truck, I was a bit horrified. Things had been repacked, smashed, damaged, scraped, and chipped. I called them only to be put on hold for 15 minutes and told to call back the next day because they couldn't reach anyone. It's 8:43p, and I still have lots of things to get off the truck. With the one mover. One. They sent one mover to move my things. ONE. The photo is an example of how they packed boxes under my desk, shrink-wrapped it, and bent the desk.

I would give negative stars for this company if I could. Their first estimate to move me from Texas to Missouri was approximately $11,500. Four days prior to my move date, (which makes it almost impossible to get a different moving company), I got stuck talking to, I believe, her name was Melissa in I think was their quality assurance department. She wanted to video items to be moved but WOULD NOT let me get a word in edgewise. When she was done with the video for each room, the estimate to move me was over $31,000. No matter how much I tried to get her to listen to me, she wouldn't let me speak & tell her what was not being included in the move.

I told her I was not paying $31K for them to move me and after arguing with her and her telling me to quit talking over her, which was the only way I could try to get her to listen to me, and telling me to not be rude which I wasn't, I was trying to get her to listen to me and to ask questions which she didn't want to answer. I knew there would be an additional cost to move the boxes I had, but not basically $20K more.

I told her to just move what was on the original inventory & she said she couldn't as it was wrong. It was not wrong & I told her to just take off all of the boxes, and I would have someone else move the boxes. They charged $5,000 and Safeship ended up charging me over $16K. How can another company charge me $5K, and Safeship wanted $20K to move boxes.

Then they used The Rapid Van Lines Moving Co and they delivered the furniture before I even got to Missouri on the day of the closing on my house. People had to scramble to accommodate the drivers to get the furniture unloaded. The moving company sent two & then another guy showed up to help unload, and all of them got into arguments and the three guys left. Drivers & Moving company were VERY unprofessional. The entire process with Safeship was unprofessional & I would NEVER recommend them! I had to wait for someone to come and put my furniture together, and that was a disaster as well. Two of the guys who left after arguing with the moving company drivers came back & didn't realize they were supposed to put the furniture together, and they just left. Then they started texting me, wanting me to give them $600.00.

I told them no, that the reassembly had already been paid for. Then they wanted me to give them gas money! Told them no. They 3 other guys were sent out to reassemble the furniture, and all the one guy did was complain that they better get paid. This moving experience was in the top three worst experiences of my life. I have worked in customer service for 40 years, and the Melissa person I talked with at Safeship does not know the meaning of customer service. Veteran-owned company - to me, it was just a ruse to get people to trust them.

I was about a month out. Was quoted one price when they initially bid my move from Colorado to Pennsylvania. Then about a week before the actual move they did a “quality check” on my items. All of a sudden the initial bid was thousands below the price. I was now being demanded I pay to get my move completed. Of course I had already made all the arrangements on my end for the move to occur as planned, so I paid. Not only that but I received a text telling me the movers would be therefore on the 14th between 10 and 11 am, so I waited and waited but they didn’t show. About 2pm I called and was told the mover was on the 15th. They had no explanation for the text I received on the 13th, and there was nothing they could do about it. As a retired US Marine I can tell you they suck. Don’t use them, first bid is just to suck you in!

Updated on 10/16/2026: SafeShip's Attempt to Resolve Our Complaint Was Almost as Disappointing as the Move Itself. After our disastrous experience with SafeShip Moving Services, in which our approximately $7,500 "all-inclusive" moving quote ultimately exceeded $15,000, the company finally contacted us to discuss our complaints. We hoped this would be an opportunity for SafeShip to acknowledge what happened, take some responsibility, and work toward a reasonable resolution. Unfortunately, the experience only reinforced our concerns about how this company treats its customers.

My wife spent considerable time explaining what had happened: the repeated inventory confirmations, the misleading representations about included services, the dramatic price increases just days before and on moving day, and the impossible position our family was placed in when our house was closing the following day. Rather than responding with empathy or demonstrating any meaningful accountability, the representative became dismissive and confrontational. At one point, he actually told my wife: **"You've been talking for 21 minutes. Now it's MY turn to talk."**

Imagine being a customer whose moving expenses more than doubled, who experienced damaged property and significant additional expenses, and who is simply trying to explain what happened to the company responsible for arranging the move—only to be spoken to like that. The representative eventually said he would review the recorded calls, speak with BLVD Moving, and get back to us. We appreciated that he was at least willing to investigate and hoped he would return with some acknowledgment of SafeShip's role in what happened. Instead, when he followed up, his response largely consisted of **blaming BLVD Moving and defending SafeShip's conduct**. He also indicated that he no longer wanted to deal with my wife.

What was especially frustrating was his apparent unwillingness to acknowledge the fundamental issue: **SafeShip was the company that sold us the move, repeatedly confirmed our inventory, represented services as included, collected our deposit, and then increased our estimate from approximately $7,500 to $12,098 just three days before moving.** BLVD may bear responsibility for its own conduct on moving day, but that does not absolve SafeShip of responsibility for its sales practices, estimates, representations, and customer service. **You cannot enthusiastically pursue a customer's business, take their deposit, arrange the move, and then point the finger at your contracted carrier when everything goes wrong.**

We weren't expecting miracles. We were expecting someone to listen, acknowledge the seriousness of our experience, and demonstrate a genuine willingness to make things right. Instead, we encountered defensiveness, dismissiveness, and what felt like a concerted effort to avoid responsibility. Perhaps the most disappointing part is that **SafeShip had a genuine opportunity to change our impression of the company**. A sincere acknowledgment of what happened and a good-faith attempt at resolution could have gone a long way. Instead, their response made an already terrible experience even worse.

**My advice to prospective customers is to pay close attention not only to what SafeShip promises before receiving your deposit, but also to how they respond when something goes wrong.** In our experience, the attentiveness and reassurance we received before signing were nowhere to be found when we needed accountability afterward. **More than doubling our original moving estimate was bad enough. Being treated dismissively when we attempted to resolve the situation was the final insult.** I remain deeply disappointed in SafeShip Moving Services and would strongly caution others against trusting this company with their move.

Original Review: Our $7,500 “all-inclusive” move became more than $15,000 by moving day. Our experience with SafeShip felt like a bait-and-switch. Before receiving our deposit, they repeatedly called us, pressuring us to “lock in” our ~$7,500 quote. We were told this would essentially be an all-inclusive move, including wrapping/protecting furniture. Once we paid the deposit, the company that repeatedly called us became much harder to reach. SafeShip called us multiple times to confirm our inventory. Yet three days before moving, they increased our estimate to $12,098. We had more boxes than anticipated, so we reluctantly accepted the increase. Then their contracted carrier, BLVD Moving, arrived and said the inventory was wrong again and that services we understood were included would cost extra. Our price became $15,000+—over DOUBLE the original quote.

Our house was closing the next day. The movers were there, our deposit was paid, and finding another mover was essentially impossible. SafeShip told us if we didn't accept the new price, the movers could leave and we would lose our deposit. We felt trapped. $7,500 → $12,098 → $15,000+ The move created additional problems. BLVD initially refused reinstallation/reassembly written into our contract until we showed them the agreement and escalated it. Multiple belongings, including TVs and personal items, were damaged, totaling $1,000+.

During pickup, a water line was damaged. The movers denied causing it. An emergency plumber cost us $700+ and said the damage could not have existed previously without significant leaking. My primary complaint remains SafeShip. What we were sold and what we experienced were dramatically different. By the time the true cost became apparent, our house was closing the next day and we had virtually no ability to walk away. Had SafeShip told us upfront that our ~$7,500 “all-inclusive” move could become $15,000+ on moving day, we never would have hired them.

It’s too late for us but I hope to keep others from the heartache we’ve endured. First there was the extra $800 we had to pay 2 days before pick-up because the estimate at signing was incorrect. They do not come view your belongings before or after signing. They simply do a verbal list of belongings. Apparently, this is a typical bait and switch of this industry to get you to sign a contract for a lower fee. Once they have you signed, they lower the boom and suddenly advise the cubic square foot was calculated too low. This was ironic since we pulled a queen bedroom set, barstools and 10 boxes out of the original estimate we gave them so our cubic square footage went way down. We were told we had to pay their additional fee and work it out with the actual mover ourselves at delivery. Second, we paid for expedited service which had our delivery window at the top of the contract.

Unfortunately, in the small print somewhere deep in the contract it gives a get out of jail free card of allowing them to blow past that window to the tune of 10 full days from pick-up before they were in breach. For us, it was 12 days of living in a hotel with no idea when our stuff would arrive plus 2 more back at home. We would be told it would be 2-3 more days but no set delivery. Each time, the goal post would be moved. We spent over $2000 in just hotel fees. We were told they would reimburse us $30 per day (which of course they didn’t). We gave up on day 13 and drove 400 miles back home with an agreement we would be given 24 hour notice of delivery. We were home one night, contacted at 4pm the next day and told to be there at 9am the next day for delivery. So much for 24 hour notice. We negotiated for a 3pm delivery. They showed at 6pm with only the driver. It was raining and we had to help the driver unload the truck.

When I complained to the moving company about only sending 1 employee, he said it was our fault for moving to a small town! Lastly, when the driver opened the gate of the truck, our boxes were crushed under belongings of another delivery on the truck. Of the 13 boxes we had, 10 of them had breakage. I lost 80% of my glassware in total, vintage MCM chair broken, MCM dish sets destroyed, furniture still unassembled in boxes were crushed. The driver didn’t speak English but through an English conversion app he said it was normal because boxes move during driving. I’ve had so many moves and this is not true. The actual shipper is United Prime Van Lines dba: United Prime Movers. They point fingers at Safe Ship and vice versa.

We have filed a complaint with FMCSA, Safe Ship and will also file with the Attorneys General in each state, however, we won’t ever see a dime. Not the $800 overpayment for cubic square footage, damage to our belongings, or costs for hotel fees. This was a nightmare and I feel foolish for not doing more homework. The initial call was very high pressure and promises of the moon. I should’ve known better and read Reddit reviews. I certainly hope you read this and heed my warning. Stay away from brokers and especially this one. Pay the extra up front for a direct mover. It will save you tears, heartache, stress and money in the end.

Safe Ship was notified of my reviews and immediately stepped in. First it was Gia explaining the claims process to go through, then it was Samantha with the Customer Experience Department. Samantha advocated on our behalf with the moving company and got us a refund for the purchase price of our broken items. She was in constant contact with us until our issue was resolved and very apologetic for the inconveniences and hardship we went through. Yes, it was hard waiting for our items and not getting answers, but Safe Ship does truly advocate for their customers and make sure you end up happy with the experience at the end of the day.

      Original Review: Sept. 30, 2026

I know Safe Ship is just the broker and they hire third party movers, but the movers they choose are HORRIBLE! I knew there was some sort of catch with them being so reasonably priced. Just go directly to a moving company or move yourself, that way you know what you're getting yourself into. Not only do they outsource awful moving companies, mostly everyone I talked to at Safe Ship after signing the contract were rude and lied to me and my husband. Everyone except the customer service rep, Alexis, she was an angel!!

Joseph was who called us to do our final inventory walkthrough and he gave me a courtesy call a couple days before he was going to call us. I was in the middle of a work shift so I tried calling him back the next day to confirm the information he told me. His answers were short and rude and when I asked if this was a good time, he said "no it's not, what do you want?" followed by a lot of sighs and more short/rude answers.

We had our items picked up on August 28th with a first available delivery date of September 2nd and a promised 10 business day window to receive our items. We did not receive our items until September 28th. A WHOLE MONTH of sleeping on an air mattress and not having any cookware or over half our clothes. Within that month, my husband and I would call for any sort of update and we would be told (specifically by customer service rep Josh) that he will give us a call back in a few minutes with an answer... Days would go by and we would call again and get the same thing, and never an answer of when we would get our items delivered. Not until THE DAY OF delivery did we actually get an answer, and that was probably because they were tired of me calling in.

September 20th, I received an update saying that the delivery truck broke down and they are waiting for a part and that we should expect our stuff no later than the following weekend/Tuesday. That was our first update/call about our delivery status. Then they called me at 8:30pm September 22nd asking if we will be available for our new "requested" delivery date of October 4th. Where October 4th came from, literally no one knows or could tell me. That's when Alexis comes in and actually helps me figure out where my items are and when I should expect them. I'm grateful to have gotten her when I called in the next day because she is the only person at the company that is actually helpful!

Mirit Great American was the moving company they put us with and they were truly awful! They never answered their phones, did not know when our boxes would be loaded on the FL truck, and then didn't even know our delivery was in transit. When we finally received our items, most of our boxes were destroyers and looked like elephants sat on them (including my one box clearly labeled 'fragile'), a leg on our new bed frame was broken and barely hanging on, and they TORE the legs off of my standing desk which resulted in the bar you crank to rise and lower the desktop to be bent and broken. So if you want save a buck and be met with rude, lying, unhelpful agents any time you call or continue to be forced to sleep on an air mattress due to the trash moving companies they use, this company is for you! If not, then spend the extra money and go through a vetted moving company or just do it yourself.

BEWARE of their "Bait and Switch" tactics when getting the initial estimate! They quoted me $16k with 50% deposit which is non-refundable after 3 days. Ok, sounds fair enough, however, they will call you a second time (well after the 3 days have passed) to reassess and confirm all household items, then tell you something like "there is a lot more stuff than was counted during the initial estimate...." then tell you it's going to cost more. In my case it was an additional $6k and when I complained and accused them of extortion, they knocked $2k off the new estimate/cost. Even at the $4k increase that's a 25% increase from the initial estimate. Nothing had changed between the first estimate and the second.

If I had cancelled altogether, I would have lost my $8k deposit so what choice did I have? Lose the $8k or pay an additional $4k? Total rip-off and I strongly recommend you go directly to the shipping company and avoid Safe Ship Moving Services altogether.
