How does Safe Ship Moving Services work?

Safe Ship Moving Services is a licensed interstate broker, meaning it connects customers with qualified carriers to complete local and long-distance moves. Safe Ship Moving’s services include local, long-distance, corporate, military and some international moves. The company has helped more than 30,000 families with moves nationwide, according to its website.

Each move is assigned a dedicated coordinator who is the main point of contact during the process. The coordinator will work with you to book a carrier for your specific move at a price that works for your budget.

If a problem comes up, customers can reach out to their coordinator, who will try to solve or escalate the issue. Reviews show some customers have positive experiences with quick help, while others mention delays or trouble getting answers.

Since Safe Ship Moving Services is a broker, a third-party carrier will do the move, and you may not get carrier details until close to your moving date. This means that pricing can change, since brokers give estimates that carriers might adjust based on the actual move.

Safe Ship Moving Services cost

Safe Ship Moving Services doesn’t display any cost information online, except for a starting long-distance moving cost of $1,500. Customers can get a quote by entering details such as the pickup and destination ZIP codes, the size of the move and the moving date in an online form and wait for a call back from a representative. You can also request a quote by calling or chatting with an agent via the company’s website.

For reference, the average long-distance move costs around $5,000 if you're traveling more than 1,000 miles and local moving services cost around $80 to $100 per hour for a team of two movers.

The total cost of your move will depend on factors such as distance, the weight and volume of your belongings, the time of year and any additional services or specialty items you have.

Safe Ship Moving Services FAQ

Is Safe Ship Moving a carrier or broker?

Safe Ship Moving is a licensed interstate broker that connects people with carriers that do the actual moving. You can verify Safe Ship Moving’s registration as a household goods moving broker on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website.

Note that if you have questions or concerns before or during your move, you may need to deal with both Safe Ship Moving and the carrier.

Is Safe Ship Moving licensed and insured?

Yes, Safe Ship Moving is licensed with the federal government as a household goods moving broker. You can view insurance and bond information on the FMCSA website.

Where is Safe Ship Moving located?

Safe Ship Moving is located in Boynton Beach, Florida.

How does Safe Ship handle complaints or damaged items?

Safe Ship handles complaints and damaged items through your assigned moving coordinator. If an item is damaged during your move, your coordinator will work with you to file a claim directly with your carrier. You must file a claim within nine months of the date of delivery.

Still have questions?

Is Safe Ship Moving Services legit?

Yes, Safe Ship Moving is a legitimate moving company. Safe Ship Moving is a good option if you want help coordinating a local or long-distance move and don’t mind working with a broker instead of a carrier directly. The company assigns each customer a dedicated move coordinator and offers services like full-service packing, storage, and corporate and military moves.

Customers who had positive experiences consistently mentioned responsive communication, on-time pickup crews and careful handling of belongings. A reviewer in Bayside, NY captured the sentiment well, praising everyone from the initial contact to the quality assurance team: "Moving across eight states is stressful, but their reassurance and open communication gave me real peace of mind throughout the process."

However, information on Safe Ship Moving’s website is limited, and customers must call or request a callback to get pricing details. Because Safe Ship is a broker, a third-party carrier completes the move, and final pricing or carrier details may not be confirmed until closer to moving day.

We recommend comparing carrier information, features, prices and customer service from Safe Ship Moving with offerings from other brokers and carriers to make the right decision for you.

I have never moved out of state before, and I am already an anxious person. Safe Ship has been transparent and I absolutely love having a one-stop-shop. I used PODS when I went to college, so having actual movers was great. Safe Ship handled so much, including reaching back out to the movers because of some items I didn't double check (like Freddy had asked me to). All in all, making my experience so much less stressful than it could have been.

Moving company facilitators have a bad reputation but Safe Ship is not one of them. They kept in touch with us every step of the way. Their estimate was more than the final amount, they are very particular about details of what you are moving, thorough, and polite. I thought I had paid extra for expedited shipping and when they said they didn’t have that in their records, they also said they would look into it to determine where they had failed. Then I remembered I had cancelled the expedited delivery. Nice to know they were so concerned about their services.

The final amount was LESS than the original $ given which made us very happy. The movers they hired could not have been better. They wrapped everything and loaded it as if every piece was their own antique (we had no antiques), they were on time, and very polite. I highly recommend Safe Ship to everyone! We originally planned to hire someone to load our own rented truck and then unload at the new residence 800 miles away but Safe Ship was $800 less on their original estimate, plus more on the final amount.

My husband and I are moving to a different state for the first time and was looking for help with our belongings. Safe Ship were the first people who reached out to discuss a quote and I thought their quote was rather pricey. However after seeing prices of the care taken to wrap and secure furniture I thought it was worth it. Everyone I've spoken to have been very pleasant and the contracted mover hired to package up our furniture were fantastic. I will say that the overall price can very easily change once you know exactly what is needed to be moved. I was hoping to have the price decrease a little by selling larger furniture however after adding a few extra storage boxes it actually ended up costing more than my initial quote. Overall, my experience was good, but do you think they are a little more expensive than I was anticipating.

Updated on 07/08/2026: This was the worst experience I have ever had with a move. Safe Ship kept calling me back after I received a quote to get the job. The movers picked up on 6/23 and I told them I wanted everything delivered on 7/2 or 7/3. The movers arrived at 12:45 on 7/8. Communication was awful and Safe Ship Sent me to the moving company instead of handling the issues. The movers told us 7/7, then 7/8, and finally delivered on the 9th.

I asked for a discount from the quote since I did not ship as much as expected. I was told they would check and call me back. Guess what, still waiting for the call. The movers had me do a review as soon as they loaded the truck so they would keep high reviews. It seems once they were paid, it does not matter when the truck arrives. Safe Ship will never get any of my business in the future.

      Original Review: Aug. 25, 2026

This is the worst, most tortuously worrisome, disruptive, constant terms-changing, thoughtless and callous excuse for a mover, possible. Avoid these creeps at all costs!! I paid 1500 dollars extra for an expedited delivery, and they broke their word to deliver my belongings by the agreed upon date, and as a result, I had to either sleep on the floor, with no household supplies, or stay in a hotel for days on end. Then, they kept vomiting the excuse that I allegedly agreed to a hidden technicality in a contract, which allowed them the extra time.AND, THEY REFUSE TO REFUND THE 1500, FOR A 1600 MILE MOVE, MOVE TAKING AS LONG AS 11 DAYS,

Before that, one of them falsely alleged that I added seven items to the original pickup inventory, because he was too stupid to realize the latter was based upon the number of line items, without the quantities of each being totaled. Pick up also took two hours of unnecessarily prolonged paperwork, because the contractor was crippled with fear over counting wrong.

I received a very reasonable quote initially but when I was contacted 3-5 days prior to my move, there was a very unexpected price increase. I added 2 small items, 5 boxes, and also revised the description on a few other items which resulted in my quote nearly doubling. What I added or revised in my opinion did not justify the cf increase they added or the significant increase in their binding estimate fee. I don’t recommend this company but if you choose to use them, make sure you give them every last detail with your initial quote including dimensions to ensure you don’t have the same experience I did.

Every box had damaged items and these were brand new boxes that arrived looking like they had been tossed around! Sentimental items smashed, hole in leather chair, goo all over furniture. I’m a week out from moving across country and I just spoke with Michael at Safe Ship and after walking through our home he told me this was way more than they were expecting for the move and instead of the $3,500 they quoted me he is now quoting me $14,000. This company is a bait and switch company. They tell you on the initial phone call that the inventory list isn’t a big deal and you’re just trying to “guess” how much of your stuff they’re bringing. They did not add many items to my inventory list that I wanted to move. They also used Zillow photos to add other things to my list that I did not plan on moving. Somehow they thought moving a 2,600sq ft house was going to fit in a 10ft truck.

After my finalization call they’re saying I need a 26ft truck and tripled my price. Well, they don’t let you get your deposit back after 72 hours (30 to 60 days before you’re moving you’re never going to know exactly how much you have!) They’re not flexible like they claim to be, the inventory list is not negotiable, even though they said “the amount of boxes really isn’t a big deal”… so if you’re stupid enough to use them then you better be 100% accurate on what you’re moving with them. Again, I’m a week away from a stressful move now scrambling to find someone to move me, out $1,700 for my deposit and furious about the musical telephone they put me through where no one claims responsibility for the miscommunication. Do not put yourself through this stress. This company should be ashamed of themselves for doing this. I would give them zero stars but it’s forcing me to pick 1.

I wanted to give everyone an update because I truly cannot express how terrible this moving company has been. After I posted my last review, THREE different people from their Customer Experience Department called me. All three left voicemails confirming that my belongings would arrive within 2–4 days. Those calls were on Tuesday. This is especially frustrating because I was originally told my belongings would arrive on August 14th. August 14th came and went, and I received NO call, NO update, and NO communication. When I called that day, the representative initially told me that the movers had already contacted me, that they were in transit, and that they would arrive within an hour. I told him that was completely false because I had not received a single call. He put me on hold, came back, and said, “Never mind, there was a mix-up in the files. They won’t be here for another 2–5 days.”

Now, after THREE separate people from their Customer Experience Department personally contacted me and promised my belongings would arrive within 2–4 days, my belongings are STILL not here. I called again today, and I was told there was “another delay” and that my belongings now supposedly won’t arrive for ANOTHER 3–4 days. At this point, the communication is beyond unacceptable. The dates keep changing, nobody seems to know what is going on, and I am constantly having to chase this company down for information about my own belongings.

And unfortunately, the problems started from the very beginning. When the movers picked up my belongings, they were rude, had attitudes, and clearly had not properly reviewed my inventory/check-off list. They started packing items that were specifically NOT on my list, and when I corrected them, their attitude completely changed for the rest of the move. I even bought them water, and despite that, they continued to be rude and unprofessional. I have NEVER dealt with a moving company this terrible. The communication is terrible. The follow-up is terrible. The customer service is terrible. And based on my experience, the movers themselves were completely unprofessional. I paid this company to move my belongings not to spend weeks chasing them down, getting conflicting stories, and repeatedly being given dates that they fail to meet.

I am also an influencer, and I have a platform where I can share my experience with a large audience. If this situation is not resolved and my belongings are not delivered and delivered in the condition they were picked up in as I made sure to take pictures of everything as promised, I will be sharing my full experience publicly and encouraging my 500k followers to leave reviews. At this point, I have given this company more than enough opportunities to communicate honestly and actually deliver what they promised. I am done accepting excuses, conflicting timelines, and empty promises. I JUST WANT MY BELONGINGS DELIVERED.

Safe Ship Moving Company Review. Extremely Disappointing Experience — Stay Away from Safe Ship and Allstate Shipping. Safe Ship is, without a doubt, one of the worst choices I could have made for my move. What started as a frustrating experience quickly turned into a complete nightmare involving unexpected charges, poor communication, missed commitments, subcontractors, and constant confusion about payments and delivery. From the very beginning, I repeatedly asked Safe Ship about the cost of the pickup and whether I could pay the pickup fee with a credit card. I asked this question numerous times before agreeing to move forward, and I was assured that paying by credit card would not be a problem. Unfortunately, when the pickup actually happened, the crew had no idea what I was talking about. There was apparently little to no communication between Safe Ship and the people they sent to handle my belongings.

The pickup itself was also extremely unprofessional. The crew left trash behind and gave the impression that nobody was actually coordinating the job. It became clear that Safe Ship relies heavily on subcontractors, and the lack of communication between the company, the subcontractors, and the customer was incredibly frustrating. I shouldn't have to chase down the people responsible for my move just to figure out how to pay a fee that I had already asked about multiple times. Eventually, after considerable effort on my part, I was able to get the pickup fee paid. Then I was informed that the remaining balance would have to be paid in cash upon delivery. Since I had already been given conflicting information about payment methods, this was yet another unnecessary complication. To avoid any further issues, I ultimately paid the entire remaining balance.

The communication—or lack thereof—continued throughout the process. I was told that someone would contact me on Monday to discuss and confirm the delivery schedule. That never happened. I spent days trying to get information and eventually went nearly a week without being able to get a clear answer or reach the appropriate people. When I finally did receive information about delivery, the notice was completely unreasonable. I was contacted the evening before they wanted to deliver my belongings. That is not adequate notice for someone who needs to make arrangements to receive an entire household shipment. A moving company should provide a reasonable delivery window and communicate that information well in advance, not expect the customer to rearrange everything at the last minute.

Then, as if the entire experience hadn't already been frustrating enough, the driver arrived claiming that I still owed a balance—even though I had already paid the entire balance. At that point, I had to deal with yet another communication breakdown between the company, the driver, and the subcontractor. The subcontractor involved, Allstate Shipping, only added to the problems. The people handling different parts of the move seemed completely disconnected from one another, and getting a straight answer was nearly impossible. The customer should not be responsible for coordinating communication between the moving company, its subcontractors, drivers, and office staff.

What should have been a straightforward moving experience became a constant battle to get basic information, confirm payments, arrange delivery, and make sure I wasn't being charged twice. I spent far too much time chasing this company for answers that should have been provided proactively. My advice is simple: stay away from Safe Ship and their subcontractor, Allstate Shipping. The upcharges, poor communication, lack of coordination, payment confusion, inadequate delivery notice, and repeated issues with the balance made this an incredibly stressful experience.

If you're considering using Safe Ship for your move, I strongly recommend doing your research and considering other options. Moving is already stressful enough without having to spend your time tracking down a moving company, correcting payment misunderstandings, dealing with subcontractors, and worrying about whether your belongings will actually be delivered when promised. I would not use Safe Ship again, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, professional, and communicative moving company.

      Reviewed Aug. 19, 2026

Very disappointing experience — services were not as promised. I used Safe Ship Moving Services for a residential move from Rhode Island to Florida, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and stressful. During the sales and booking process, I was told my belongings would be kept separate from other customers’ items, that I was essentially purchasing dedicated space on the truck, and that my items would be digitally inventoried using barcodes and scanning at both pickup and delivery. I was also reassured there would be strong communication throughout the process and that my requested delivery timing should be achievable. That is not what happened.

At pickup, there was no barcode scanning or digital inventory system. Instead, stickers were placed on my items and a handwritten manifest was created, which was difficult to read. I was later told my belongings were being taken to New Jersey before being transferred to a larger truck, despite being under the impression that my items would remain properly separated and tracked.

My delivery was about a week late, and communication during the delay was poor. When the truck arrived, my belongings were mixed in with a large volume of other customers’ items. The movers appeared to have difficulty identifying which items were mine, and additional belongings were later found in a completely different area of the truck. This was especially concerning because I had specifically been told my items would not be mixed with others.

Several boxes were destroyed, storage bins were cracked, and personal photographs that had been stored securely were found loose on the floor of the truck after a bin had opened. Some items are already known to be missing, and because this was a move from one storage unit to another, I may not discover the full extent of missing or damaged belongings until later.

While most of my items were eventually delivered, the overall handling, tracking, communication, and care fell far short of what was represented to me when I booked the move. This experience caused significant stress during an already difficult interstate relocation, and I would caution others to ask very detailed questions and get every service promise in writing before booking. Based on my experience, I do not feel the services delivered matched what was sold to me.

After posting our review ShipSafe Services reached out to see if we could come to a better resolution regarding our move with Premier Moving and Storage. We have increased our star rating based on our acceptance of an additional payment from Premier Moving and Storage for damages.

      Original Review: Aug. 19, 2026

Avoid SafeShip Moving Services and Premier Moving & Storage. Our journey began on 1/27/26 when we contacted SafeShip Moving Services out of Boca Raton, Fl for a complete home move. This was to be a full pack and local delivery of a 2100 plus sq ft home. A video walk-thru of the entire home and basement was completed while on the phone with the SafeShip agent to determine volume of items to be moved. Based on the live walk-thru a determination was made regarding the number of truck (2) and supplies needed. A contract was signed and a deposit made.

The moving date was to be 2/25/26 with everything being packed and moved before the end of the day. On 2/21/26 SafeShip contacted us for a final live video walk-thru. After completion of the walk-thru they determined that they had miscalculated the volume to be moved on the previous walk-thru. They wanted to change the amount owed for the move by almost double the original contract. We were forced to negotiate a new contract as it was only 4 days before we had to move out of our home. On 2/24/26 SafeShip contacted us to confirm everything for the move. Original arrival time of movers was between 9am & 12pm. We explained that everything had to be out of the house on the 25th. We were promised that the movers would arrive by 8am with 2 (26 ft) trucks and 5 people.

On moving day, 2/25/26, Premier Moving & Storage (out of Fairfield, NJ) arrived at 10:30am with 1 truck and 5 people. At 4:00pm they ran out of packing boxes, furniture blankets, and packing supplies causing them to purchase from local stores. Because of the shortage of supplies things were not packed or boxed properly. They finished packing and left at 2:15am on the 26th. They left a large amount of trash which was on their truck when it arrived and we had to take it to the dump before out closing that morning.

Finally on delivery day 2/28/26 only 1 truck arrived and we discovered that our belongings had been taken off of the trucks and stored somewhere. Some furniture items had been left outside as they were still wet and holding water. We had specifically discussed with SafeShip at the time of signing the contract that our things remain on the trucks. We were assured that that would be the case. Because of poor packing and storage a large amount of our items were damaged or broken. The list is extensive. We have just completed our claim process and are now able to write this review. In conclusion, we strongly urge anyone reading this to avoid these 2 companies!!!

      Fabri Express corrected the discrepancies.

      Original Review: Aug. 18, 2026

I hired Safe Ship Moving Services for a cross-country move from Virginia to the Kansas City area, and unfortunately, this has been one of the most frustrating moving experiences I have ever had. The problems began with pricing, continued through pickup and delivery, and more than six weeks after the move began, I am still dealing with an unresolved documentation issue that is preventing me from completing my military PPM reimbursement.

For context, I am a single person who lives a relatively minimalist lifestyle. I do not have an unusually large household. During my initial consultation, I provided Safe Ship with an inventory of the belongings I intended to move. Despite that, just days before the move, the estimated cost increased dramatically and ultimately came close to double what I had initially been quoted. At that point, my move was imminent and finding another company was no longer a realistic option.

I was also repeatedly warned about the possibility of additional charges associated with an 18-wheeler and potentially needing a shuttle if a large truck could not access the property. This was particularly frustrating given the relatively small size of my shipment and added another layer of uncertainty about how much the move would ultimately cost. Then came the pickup problems.

Safe Ship failed to have my belongings picked up by the latest date in the pickup window I had been given. This was not simply inconvenient. I was moving out of a rented townhome and had coordinated my move-out deadlines and cross-country relocation around the company’s stated pickup window. When the pickup did not happen, I was told that the drivers who were supposed to arrive were reportedly having issues related to exceeding their allowable driving hours.

Safe Ship then asked when I could be available the following day. I said first thing in the morning and was specifically told that a truck would arrive at approximately 8:00 a.m. The following morning, 8:00 came and went. No truck. No phone call. No update. By 9:00 a.m., I still had heard nothing. It took multiple attempts and several hours to finally reach someone who could tell me what was happening. I was then informed that the truck would not arrive until later that afternoon.

Once my household goods were finally picked up around July 1, the communication problems continued. I told the company I would be available to receive my belongings beginning July 4. Over the following weeks, I repeatedly had to initiate contact simply to find out where my belongings were or when I might expect them. I received very little proactive communication.

By the morning of July 19, I still did not have a confirmed delivery date. I called Safe Ship and demanded an update. I was initially told I would need to call back the following day. I questioned why the company responsible for coordinating the transportation of virtually all of my household belongings could not even tell me where they were or provide a projected delivery date. Shortly after that conversation, the contracted carrier, Fabri Express, called me directly and informed me that my belongings would be delivered the following day, July 20.

Even then, the movers did not actually arrive and begin unloading until approximately 7:00 p.m. Unfortunately, delivery was not the end of the problems. This move was a military Personally Procured Move (PPM). Certified full and empty vehicle weight tickets are required documentation for processing my PPM reimbursement. I received the loaded/gross weight ticket, but I have still not received the corresponding empty/tare weight ticket. I began repeatedly requesting the missing ticket from Safe Ship. Each time, I was told essentially the same thing: they were working on it and needed another 24–48 hours. Another 24–48 hours would pass. No ticket.

I would follow up again. Another assurance that they were working on it. Still no ticket. It is now August 17. My household goods were picked up around July 1, delivered July 20, and I have been requesting this documentation for weeks. I still do not have the empty weight ticket. This isn’t simply paperwork I would like to have for my records. The missing ticket is preventing me from completing my military PPM reimbursement with the Army. I have now specifically asked Safe Ship to either provide the ticket or tell me in writing whether the ticket does not exist or cannot be located. What stands out about this experience is that it wasn’t one isolated mistake. It was a pattern throughout virtually every stage of the move:

The estimate increased dramatically shortly before the move. The latest pickup date was missed. The replacement 8:00 a.m. pickup time was missed without notification. I repeatedly had to chase the company for information about my shipment. I did not learn that my belongings were arriving July 20 until July 19, after I called and pressed for an answer. Delivery did not begin until approximately 7:00 p.m. And now, weeks after delivery, I am still chasing Safe Ship for a required weight ticket while being repeatedly told to wait another 24–48 hours.

I understand that long-distance moves involve variables and that schedules sometimes change. What I do not consider reasonable is having to repeatedly chase the company for basic information and documentation from the beginning of the move through weeks after delivery. For military members in particular, I would strongly caution against using Safe Ship for a PPM based on my experience. Weight tickets are not optional paperwork for us. Their continued failure to provide the required empty weight ticket has now moved beyond poor customer service and is directly delaying my ability to complete my Army PPM reimbursement. I would not use Safe Ship Moving Services again.

Bait and Switch at its finest! Horrible customer service, no accountability, delay upon delay in delivery, upcharges galore, too many cooks in the kitchen, too many subcontractor moving companies mixed in the middle. Safe Ship is a moving brokerage, a middleman, with no ownership of the actual moving companies hired by them to move my household. How can this company receive positive reviews? Please save yourself the trouble and book a different company that takes your stuff and doesn't hand it off to other moving companies. The overhead is very high clearly because Safe Ship charges moving companies brokerage fees, which are then passed on to the consumer.

I would give 0 star (or even negative) if I could. This whole experience with Safe Ship has been a nightmare. Starting from pick up to current. They picked up my stuff on 7/9 and I still haven't received it. I was initially told it usually takes 14-21 business days. Before the pick up, I was given the pick up window (1-2 days) and told to be notified at least 24 hours in advance for the exact date & time of pick up. However, they never contacted me and I had to call them first and that was when I got notified of the exact pick up date and time, which was the night before (~10 hours before). What if I didn't call them first? Were they going to notify me the morning of like 2 hours before they come? They never communicate clearly and will always give you the "estimate", which they will tell you it's "NOT guaranteed".

And it's been more than a month and I'm still waiting to receive my shipment. And there was not a single communication that was initiated by Safe Ship. I always have to call them first or open a ticket for them to provide me any update. When I called this Tuesday, I was told that the truck has left on Monday and it will be arriving either this Friday or Saturday. When I called again on Thursday because I needed to know if they were coming on Friday, now they were telling me the truck has left on Wednesday and it will be arriving either Sunday or Monday. They lie to you and will never give you the exact ETA. I have a few moving experiences, but this has been the WORST experience I've ever had. I'm not a type of person who normally leaves a review but I had to for Safe Ship, to help other people to not go through this nightmare. Do NOT use Safe Ship for your move, and you're welcome.

Safe Ship (broker) had a quick response up until the contract was signed. Final price was 50% more than the quote (which sucked you in). Final volume agreed on was accurate. Had 3 different BOLs signed. Shippers arrived on time and were fast. Thought our delivery date was going to be in 3 days, but no word from anyone. Called Safe Ship, transferred me to the shippers (All State Moving). They could not tell me where my items were or any delivery date. No one would call us back. Repeated calls for the next week, before I got answers (Delivered on 10th business day). Movers were polite but could have done a better job packing the truck. Furniture had rubs in it, and tape residue was stuck on and end table that will not come off. Safe Ship wanted a review as soon as our items were picked up. Very disappointed in the communication after our items were picked up. After a week we felt we would not see our possessions again or were damaged.

I called Safe Ship because it is veteran-owned. As a 25-year veteran, I’m familiar with moves. During my first call, a professional, upbeat associate reviewed my room-by-room inventory and quoted $20,000 for a 170-mile move. When I said I would compare other carriers, he said he could lower the price and would speak with the owner, who was “right there.” He returned with a lower quote of about $13,000. When I mentioned my last move cost $10,000, he put me on hold again and came back at $10,200. I accepted it.

Two months later, less than a week before I had to be out of the house, a Safe Ship case manager did a video walkthrough and said I had more items than originally quoted. I had to pay another $3,400 on top of my initial $3,800 deposit, leaving me no real option but to pay to stay on schedule. In addition, I had to pay $6,400 at pickup and another $6,400 at delivery. After one month in storage, I requested delivery for July 8. The contract allowed up to seven days after that date, but the deadline passed with no call. When I contacted a Safe Ship representative who had said she would stay with my case, she told me to contact the moving company directly. Safe Ship had effectively pushed delivery follow-up onto me.

As the broker, Safe Ship should have coordinated with Azimuth Group Van Lines and ensured delivery went smoothly. I repeatedly contacted Azimuth by phone and text. Their representative said they had no estimated delivery date and were waiting on a truck. After more silence, I began calling both Safe Ship and Azimuth for answers. Finally, after the contractual delivery window had passed, Azimuth said my items would arrive in two loads on July 24.

After the second load, several items were missing. The driver, who was very helpful, found the rest in another storage location, drove back to Louisville, KY, and delivered them the next day. After three months and $20,200, the move is finally complete. We have not unpacked everything yet, but several items already opened are broken, including frames and lamps.

Overall, Safe Ship Moving Services failed to provide the accountability I expected. The initial quote appeared seriously underbid to secure the sale, increasing from about 1,000 cubic feet to more than 3,000 cubic feet. Some change is understandable, but being off by more than 2,000 cubic feet placed a major financial strain on us. This review is factual and based off my experience. This experience was very disappointing. I should have seen the initial drop from $20,000 to $10,200 as a major red flag.

If this review helps even one family think twice, it is worth sharing. Double-check the contract, verify the inventory, and if the cost suddenly doubles, get your deposit back and walk away. I received a call today from Safe Ship and they continue to state that they did nothing wrong. Safe Ship still has not explained why the initial quote was so far off. They may blame me, but I trusted them to quote the move accurately and honor the original quote. Someone should look at the sales tactics and stop underbidding to get the sale. I doubt I will hear back now that they have been paid in full. But a little restitution would go a long way. Being a veteran owed broker, I expected more accountability and service.

Summary: Safe Ship quoted my move at $10,200 after first estimating $20,000. After telling the sales guy that I want to get other quotes, he put me on hold and came back and quoted me $10,200. I agreed with the lessor quote and signed the inventory. Two months later during the quality assurance call it went back up to over $20,000…stating that there is more stuff than originally inventoried. So, we are back up to the original cost of $20,000 4 days prior to the move. They intentionally did something to the original inventory to reflect a lessor amount to get the sale, and then up charged prior to the move.

The move involved last-minute price increases, poor communication, missed delivery timelines, missing items, and damaged belongings. Based on my experience, customers should verify every detail in writing, confirm the inventory carefully at time of the sale and the quality assurance call and be cautious of large quote reductions that may not reflect the true final cost.

I don’t care about the higher cost. If that is the cost it takes to move my belongings then so be it, but don’t under sell people and then hit them with higher costs. They got their legal jargon down pat. I told them to listen to the original call and they would hear the sales guy go from $20k plus to $10k. I asked them for a copy of the call (since they are using it to determine my case). They said they legally couldn’t provide it. Nothing to hide right???? Be careful when dealing with moving brokers.

We hired Safe Ship to move three houses: my folks’, mine, and my father-in-law’s. All were picked up in Texas and were to be delivered to Washington. Two of the three moves had not only damages, but my father-in-law’s truck is missing. His stuff was picked up on July 12 and per the contract the latest it was to be delivered is tomorrow 8/13. I called today since I have not heard anything and discovered that his truck never left Texas. Evidently, the driver left company and they haven’t been able to find another driver. We don’t even know where the truck is and all of his belongings. He is 88 years old and everything he owns is on that truck. They said if it is not here before 8/26 then he will be compensated. Safe Ship didn’t even know the truck was missing and only discovered it because I called and asked. No one seemed terribly concerned that this man’s entire life is on a truck that may or may not be in Texas, and may or may not ever make it to Washington.

The company they hired to move my house broke tile in the home loading furniture, broke a chair, gouged an antique desk, and broke lots of dishes. The moving company supposedly filed a claim with their insurance about the broken tile and was to reimburse us. We never heard anything from them. Our broken furniture, dishes, and damaged desk were just a loss for us. We spent well over $60,000 with Safe Ship to move all of these houses and only one went well. They are a broker and choose the moving companies based on what they say is a rigorous vetting process. Breaking and damaging property is bad. Losing an entire truck and telling the family to wait seven weeks before being able to do anything about is appalling. Even if he is reimbursed, how do you put a price on losing everything a person owns.

I called multiple times in the weeks since the delivery window closed and was never given any information on where my items were, was never called with updates even when I was told to expect a call, and never spoke to the same person twice. I received contradictory advice - wait for a call vs. call yourself because they won't call me. I expressed my frustration and wasn't given any options to escalate my concerns or forms of resolution.
