My property manager sent me an updated contract for a property I own in New Mexico. It had two clauses that were identified by my LegalShield Attorney that were punitive to me. My attorney advised me to line through the clauses and initial on the side to negate the clauses before I signed the contract. I did and saved myself several thousand dollars. I'm a smart person but I don't know everything, that is why I have my membership with LegalShield. My knee-jerk reaction to questions is to call my lawyer.

I sold my house without a realtor with the help of LegalShield. The legal fees were $250 total. The lawyer was very competent and sent me the forms I needed promptly, explaining what I had to do with each one and why. I figure I saved at least $500 with my LegalShield membership! That paid for two years of our membership right there.

I have used my LegalShield membership on numerous occasions. My wife had a traffic ticket in Maryland that the attorney went to settle on our behalf on two separate occasions (one ticket). Living in Kentucky, this was a great benefit. We had a question about some contracts which were reviewed and then explained to us in plain English. Most recently I got advice while settling my Mom's estate. We will update our wills later this year. These are just a few of the instances where we have used our membership. There is so much comfort in being able to say to folks that I am dealing with, "let me run that past my attorney" and know that it is going to be quick, thorough, and easy to do.

I have had LegalShield for over 5 years and used it more than 10 times. I called my attorney and faxed a copy of a contract a vendor ask me to sign. My attorney told me to have the vendor modify the clauses in the contract. The vendor did not properly perform and I ask him to cancel the contract. He refused at first. I ask my attorney to send the vendor a letter asking them to cancel the contract because they did not perform according to the clauses. The vendor sent me a letter saying that they were going to cancel the contract. All $25,000.00.

We've had our LegalShield membership for about 3 years and during that time one of the consistent ways we've used the membership is with our in-state and out-of-state contracts. We own rental properties in different states and also do a lot of business outside of our home state. We've used the contracts available on the website to download, completed them, had an attorney from our provider law firm (who specializes in that area of law) and used the contract seamlessly and without worry that we were not fully protected. Not long after we had our LegalShield membership I discovered that my electric razor's battery was not taking or holding a charge. By the time I found the receipt for the purchase it was just a little over a year since the purchase. I called and explained the challenge and that the lack of battery charging had taken place before the year was up. Their answer was that it was out of warranty. I said let's see what Legal Shield will do. I don't recall if they placed a call or sent a letter on my behalf but a new electric razor was in our mailbox about a week later. Yes, LegalShield does take care of the trivial as well as the traumatic this proved that to me.

I have been a member of LegalShield for almost 4 years now. Before I got the membership I never got in an accident but about 6 months later I did on a Friday and I was given 2 tickets after I hit someone from behind and made a dent in their bumper. So I called my Law Firm and they gave me advice on what to do and since it wasn't such a bad one all I had to do was take the tickets from the officer, take a picture of them along with my insurance and registration and send that over to the law firms email and they called me back on that Monday and told me that they will be able to go to court for me and a couple past after the court date and I get a letter in the mail from them with my court records saying I don't have to pay a dime. Worth the 200$ a year right there!

I received a cell phone bill with a $220 overage charge. The company had not honored the contract I had signed up for. After contacting the company and talking to several people the last supervisor said that I have to pay the bill or they would turn my cell phone off and turn my name into collections. If you have never had to do a deposition before, it is a little scary. Not for me, I picked up the phone and spoke to my attorney. He explained what to expect, and how to respond to examples that he gave me to think about. Everything went just like he said it would. No mess; no stress...:)

After my husband passed in January, 2013, I found out that the landlord was in default. She assured me that she had this under control, and that I should keep paying rent - all would be well. I did this until October, 2013, when I, as the tenant, was served with formal foreclosure documents and a default hearing had been scheduled. I love our LegalShield membership! We have been members for almost seventeen years, and I truly can't imagine navigating life's "stuff" without it. A few of our situations:

I have a son who is gifted and special ed. He has been to multiple schools and most educators seem to not know how to help him. Although he is an excellent writer, he was having difficulty writing papers. I had reached out to my law firm for advice what steps I could take to get him help at school. My attorney called me one morning (before normal business hours) and told me to have the school test him for Dysgraphia. Just the mention of the term had the school send my son talk to type software and a doctor to our home to test him. I don't know why after 3 years at the school they didn't think of it but thanks to my LegalShield attorney my son began receiving the services that he needed.

I was flying home from a convention and was supposed to arrive home around 3pm, but my flight was cancelled 3 times due to mechanical issues. When I finally got home it was after midnight and I wasn't pleased with the service I had received. So the next day I called my law firm and asked what my rights were. The attorney said that I could file a claim for the extra expenses I had incurred (~$30), but that the airline would probably decline my claim. He then said, "but let's write them a letter and see what happens." I figured I had nothing to lose so I said okay. About 3 weeks later I received a letter from the airline. Sure enough they denied my claim, but then proceeded to say that they were not unsympathetic to what happened to me and gave me a $400 voucher to use for my next flight! I paid for insurance at a storage unit where I had my tools. Later there was a theft and most of my tools were stolen. I had a police report and called LegalShield to find out what other items I needed to prove I had these tools. I also had them review the insurance contract. I am so pleased with how the attorneys in NJ helped me with a waterproof company. Since I own this service, I had the attorney review 5 different waterproof contracts at no cost. From their information I selected one of the companies to waterproof my basement. After they completed the job, we hired a flooring company to lay the floor. They refused to lay it because there was too much moisture in the floor. I called the waterproof company to come back and fix it. We had a contractor that our neighbours had hired to rebuild a fence on our property line. There were 3 big trees that were pushing the original fence over. The contractor said that he would just build a new fence around the trees. I said that would decrease the value of our house for resale as he wasn't going to build a straight fence. I am a Canadian who likes to travel to the US often. A friend and I flew to Miami and got a rental car to drive to my timeshare condo in Key West. The second day there we parked the car at a visitors center and took a trolley tour of Key West. When we returned we found that someone had smashed into the front driver's side of the car. I called my provider law firm in Toronto, who referred me to the provider Law firm in South Florida who told me exactly what to do. I received a traffic ticket for an illegal left turn. I was at fault. I faxed the ticket into my provider law firm. When I lived in Illinois, I had business across the state line in Missouri. While driving there, I came up behind a truck from Kentucky that had a bucket of tar turned over in a trailer it was towing. Before I realized it, my vehicle was covered with tar. The bankruptcy referral firm was good. On another issue, the referral lawyer didn't want to take my eviction case, but didn't say so/call me back. A letter by another attorney didn't get me my refund, or any response from the company. Pre-Paid Legal cancelled my original membership - when I had only asked to cancel the magazine subscription. The lawyer was not able to help me keep my bank account statements from my homeless shelter counselor. The lawyer was not able to get my money back from the pre-paid cremation company that went out of business. I only keep the membership on the off chance that maybe someday I'll have a success story.

A wind storm recently knocked one tree limb to the ground and another against the corner of my neighbor's front porch. My insurance company advised me I was not responsible for an act of God. I was still leery and contacted MY attorney. He also informed me that I was not liable, but added the caveat, if the tree is healthy. That caveat gave me peace of mind about the entire situation.

In early 2010, I signed up with Netzero to have them become my internet service provider. However, I found that their service didn't meet my needs and a month later, I called them and told them I wanted to cancel my service with them. I thought that was that after talking to them. However, later on I found out that they were still charging my credit card for many months afterwards even after I explicitly told them to cancel my service. All told, they stole $198 from me.

I purchased a laptop from QVC and part of my buying decision was a promise of 60 days free trial of Microsoft Office. I only received 30 days. I was bounced around between Toshiba, Microsoft and QVC and everyone told me there was nothing they could do. I finally told the Customer Service Rep at QVC to give me the address where my Lawyer can write a letter. I had signed a lease for these apartments located in Webster, TX. When we went to check out our new apartment, it was unlivable! The things wrong in the apartment were two pages long. The lawyers at Ross and Matthews wrote an awesome letter enabling me to have my deposit and electric bill refunded. The money refunded was only about $150, but it meant a lot to me. Go LegalShield!
