1 star is higher than they deserve. The agent treated me by hanging up while he was yelling at me. I was trying to resolve an issue it not properly resolved. It was then given to another individual that treated me even worse. If I ever have to deal with State Farm again I might consider using an attorney.

We signed up for their low mile driver discount with 2 cars. We had insure with them since 2006. We drove the cars way LESS than 7500 miles each year & reported the miles whenever they asked us to. We NEVER got a discount! They NEVER adjusted our rates. When I confronted their underwriting an extremely rude moron called Meredith ** in AZ told me if we had a problem we should have told our agent or underwriting about it! This is FALSE ADVERTISING & ILLEGAL - We have switched to Mercury and they are giving us the discount upfront since you can tell them an estimate of the miles you'll be driving when you sign up - they base your rate on this mileage estimate & then at the end of the year they will adjust it up or down for the next year. If you'd like to get ripped off go with State Farm otherwise shop with other carriers.

The agent did not include alternate insurance for a rental vehicle in case of accident. Be careful to get all the insurance you need. We were without a vehicle because of this even though the cost would have been very low to add to the insurance. They did cover the cost of repair completely though it took many days.

On two instances they found a way to not pay. On an auto claim they decided I was at fault even though I was not moving at all. The other party was insured by State Farm also but their car was not damaged. All this just to save the deductible. On a water damage they used an obscure clause that did not pay for damages that "occur over a period of time". All damages occur over some period of time.

I carried all of my insurance (auto, home, umbrella) through State Farm for 36 years. Through most of that time, they provided excellent service. I, in return had a stellar driving record, no DUI’s, 2 tickets. This year I was involved in an accident in which I was cited a ticket for failure to control my vehicle due to an abrupt construction zone on a freeway off ramp that led to me hitting someone from behind. There were no injuries and minimal damage to the other vehicle. My vehicle, however was totaled due to front end damage. Literally, 2 months after the claim was paid, State Farm informed me that they would not renew coverage on any of my 3 vehicles, citing “too many claims”, all of which were roadside assistance claims for minor issues like flat tires, battery issues, etc.

I have 2 college age kids driving as well with good records and they cancelled them as well. My agent was in the process of retiring and confirmed that he was appalled with State Farm’s recent policies and treatment of long term customers with good records. That said, I cancelled ALL of my policies only to realize that I was significantly over paying for coverage all along. The short story - State Farm will take your money (and too much of it) and rest assured, when you need them they will not be there.

Also Progressive RV insurance is the absolute worst. Sure I got a good rate but their customer service was horrible and it was a battle when submitting a glass claim. They denied me and threw constant roadblacks at every point. They use these tactics to frustrate customers into giving up.

I called to get a quote. I was given my quote information and I requested a copy of the information so I could review it to ensure that everything I was being told, was on the agreement. I was only sent part of the information until later, when I then received my full policy details. I was never told initially that I was being given a low mile discount. My work is out of town and I drive more than 10,000 year. Had I known that my rate would change because I didn't have low miles, I never would have switched, as now my rate with State Farm is more than what I was paying my previous insurance provider.

Also, I get 15 miles towing service and ONLY to a repair shop. I was out of town and my car broke down. I didn't have the money to get it repaired while out of town, nor did I have a place to stay while it would be repaired. I had to pay over $100 just to get my vehicle back into town. The info. I was given during my phone conversations was not at all what I received when I reviewed my entire policy. They keep telling me to purchase life insurance so my premium can be lowered. Why would I feel comfortable getting more services, not knowing the fine line details?

State Farm is good insurance, a bit pricey but I found after having State Farm Auto Insurance for more than 20 years. The Insurance Agent is very, very important. Their customer service can determine if a customer continues with the company. I had a very good experience with a State Farm Insurance Agent for over 20 years. I never meet the agent face to face but I spoke with the office staff a few times over the 20+ years of service. This agent recently retired and his office staff did not remain employed by State Farm. I was transferred to another insurance agent. I expected I would get the same level of service. I was completely wrong and now I am in the market for either changing my auto and home insurance coverage to another insurance company altogether or changing my agent.

I believe that the satisfaction of repeat customers is very important and it determines if a business remains successful. Ever since being with this new insurance agent and office. I have become very dissatisfied. I didn’t mind paying a bit more for insurance because when I had an issue or change in my insurance. My previous insurance agent and his staff made any insurance issue/change that I had a seamless process in resolving. This is not the case now.

Besides State Farm being staunch TRUMP supporters, after being with them over 15 years now, always having the best insurance they had to offer, not only were the clerks short with their replies, very quick to say no to any questions that required them to do something for you. We had an accident in our vehicle which though it was our fault we needed to pay the deductible to get the side passenger light replaced. We asked first if we could waive the deductible, expecting them to say no, but not expecting them them to say to to us paying half and the balance the next month, or to make monthly payments.

Ok, the answer is no but this clerk didn't even put me on hold to ask a superior. It was just no as if it comes from her pocket. They apparently changed employees because I don't remember being treated so cold. It seems that we pay and pay and pay but are never allowed to experience any benefits. The policy goes up but we never get anything out. Also, if the people they support do not support me as a ** person, why in the hell do I have to continue supporting them? How do I know that the reason that clerk didn't try to help me or not was because she supports someone who hates me. We are actively seeking another policy. One that supports me.

State Farm is one of the most difficult and underhanded to deal with as testified by several body shops I went to. State Farm insists on sending you to one of their in system repair shops for a tear down inspection. They will take weeks to inspect the car and give a very low estimate on poor quality repair. You cannot take your car to another of their estimators after this and if you want to take your car to a better shop of your own choice you'll have to pay to have it reassembled. The shop has effectively captured your car. If they do the work, SURPRISE, THEY'LL FIND THAT EXTRA WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE. Expensive work AT YOUR EXPENSE. And State Farm won't pay for it after the estimate has been turned in.

If you want to have your own body shop do the job you'll have to go in for a visual inspection and you'll get a very low ball price on a quicky Bondo patch up, even if body parts need to be replaced. THAT'S FINAL, NO OTHER ESTIMATES ALLOWED TO BE TAKEN.!!! You're now stuck with a low pay off even if your won body shop finds it will cost four times as much. Beware! Their word is FINAL on all matters.

We have had car insurance with Allison Taylor of Cincinnati for 30 years. My wife had an accident last year. The damage to our car was very small. The other vehicle lost part of his bumper when he hit my wife at the left rear wheel. As a result we had to pay $250 deductible for our vehicle repair. We then got a bill for over 2 hundred dollars for the repair of the other vehicle. We were notified that our insurance was going to be raised by over $50. We did not have that in the bank and my wife drove to her office and updated a check to be cashed after the first of the month. She didn't wait but submitted the check and we incurred a cost of $35 overdraft.

Taylor showed her disdain for us by calling my wife and thumbing her nose at her and said she was not going to refund the $35 even though she cashed it after being told we needed to wait for funds to cover it. We also had home owner insurance for 20 years that paid them over $20,000. And had no claims against it. So in my opinion Allison Taylor is a piece of **. And State Farm is not one to be trusted.

Summary: Still trying to resolve a fender bender claim. Four months after the incident. State Farm has been uncooperative and unresponsive. Details: Rear ended by a State Farm insured on Apr 27, 2019 while refueling my car. My car was turned off. Husband was pumping gas. I was in the front passenger seat. The other party did not want to report the incident to police. I insisted. Police arrived and wrote an incident report. State Farm insured was solely at fault. After weeks of no action by State Farm, I filed with my insurance company and had the repair done.

As of today, the claim is in subrogation. State Farm does not want to reimburse USAA for the full amount. I fronted the cost of a rental car (not covered by my policy) and filed directly with State Farm for that expense. State Farm reduced the payment by 85% without any explanation for the reduction. They also included correspondence informing me that I could take the car to the place of my choice for repair or call them for recommendations for a repair place even though they knew the claim was in subrogation, which makes no sense. As of today, I have been informed that USAA is taking State Farm to arbitration which will take several months. I doubt that I will ever receive rental car reimbursement —I am, therefore, out $741.

Once I spoke with the person at the dealership that was supposed to do the repairs to my vehicle I noticed that the details of the accident were incorrect so I called the claims adjuster and informed him that the information on the claim was incorrect. The claims adjuster assured me that I wouldn’t have any trouble getting my vehicle repaired. Well today I was contacted and informed that State Farm would not authorize the repairs to my vehicle because the adjuster didn’t believe that my vehicle was damaged due to the accident and I would have to pick up my vehicle and return the rental vehicle provided to me.

I contacted the police department and got the incident report and you can clearly see from the incident report that my vehicle was struck in the area where the damage was indicated. I was told that I would have to pick up my vehicle and have another place inspect my vehicle to state that the damage was caused during the accident and I would be responsible for paying for it out of pocket. I have never filed an insurance claim since I have been insured with State Farm or any other insurance company. I viewed State Farm as a reputable company and had faith that they would handle my claim in a professional manner but I was disappointed in the way that the adjuster handled my claim. I was involved in an accident about 2 weeks ago. I was making a left turn off a busy road with a left turn green arrow and a car that was stopped in front of me. As we made our left turns, the opposing traffic had a red light. A young lady in a brand new car attempted to slow down to their red light, but had brake issues. She then slammed into me (around 25 or 30 mph) while I was making my turn. The first two things she says to me after we pulled off the road were "Don’t worry, my brother's a cop in ** town" (where the accident happened), and "It's my fault, my brakes aren't working". She admitted fault to the police when they arrived, echoed my story of the red light, and again mentioned her brother. I obtained the police report, which also echoed my story (AND HERS!) which was forwarded to her insurer (STATE FARM). After waiting several weeks for resolution, State Farm tells me that they are finding me at 85% fault and her at 15%!!

According to them, she changed her story and stated that she had a green light and I had a red light (Impossible as there was not only the car in front of me that was waiting for our green arrow, but there were people in the other two opposing lanes waiting at their red light NEXT TO HER!). I asked how they made the determination that not only did I lie, but that she lied, and the police report lied about her running a red light. The claims person stated that "We take police reports with a grain of salt" and that they also "take statements made at the scene with a grain of salt". State Farm will be getting a nice letter from my personal attorney who works for free (my brother) who also arrived at the scene as the police did and ALSO heard her admit fault.

I got hit my State Farm insured driver. I was travelling on a green light on a midlane. State Farm driver made a right turn on a red light on an intersection and went to the midlane following the road line (the road line will make her travel to the midlane crashing into my lane) and she hit my car on the REAR passenger side tire while she made the turn. The State Farm driver lied and said she made a complete turn and she hit me. How did you hit me on my REAR tire if you made a complete turn while I traveled on a straight line on midlane on a green light? Explain that to me! She didn't make a complete turn. She plowed thru the red light while making a right turn without checking her surrounding. She didn't have a right of way, she hit me almost T-Boning my car. The tried to jerk to the left lane but I wasn't fast enough and my car is dented and scratched as a result.

Claim Number: **. Claim adjuster: Don **. State Farm claim adjuster immediately took a side of the at fault driver. They did this knowing full well to save the company money. They denied my claim. This agent is a terrible. He knows full well I am NOT at fault from the evidence. Her insured driver was AT FAULT. I will never recommend anyone to do business with State Farm. Please use ClearCover, Geico or AAA. They have better rates and they don't screw you. State Farm is a horrible company. Do NOT do business with them.

Never had a accident. After 4 years of paying large premiums discovered that was being charged double of what other family members were paying thru other insurance companies. I switched, got much better coverage at less than half the cost. Just figured how much extra I have paid over the last four years for auto insurance.l $10,000!!!! I am so furious. They know they are at fault and the other driver was underinsured so they should pay out the max on the claim which barely pays our medical bills but instead we have to take the driver to court and sue him because State Farm don’t have his back. I would be very upset had I been insured with State Farm and they didn’t take my claim serious leaving me unprotected and vulnerable to lose everything in court. There are a ton of reviews about State Farm not paying claims and delaying payments! The government needs to step in and shut them down for being a fraudulent insurance company that takes people money and doesn’t provide actual coverage at all.

I was hit by a State Farm customer, and I filed a claim that day. Over a week went by no contact from them so I had to call to ask if they were going to address my claim. They then took a recorded statement from me and said they would be in touch. Then several more weeks went by with no contact so I called for an update. They said liability was still pending. I called again after a month passed and again they said liability was still pending. Then a few hours later they called to tell me I am 50% at fault. I asked what investigation had been done to come to this outcome? I asked if they obtained the video footage of the accident? They said they were unaware there were cameras. I reminded them that I said in my recorded statement that there were. She went to my statement and verified it. Then (now weeks have passed) she calls the establishment while I’m on hold and comes back to me and said there’s no footage of the accident.

I asked why no one had looked into this prior to a liability decision? I asked if anyone inspected the scene? She then pulls up the parking lot map and I describe where both vehicles were parked, and that the physical damages support what I said happened. She disagreed. When I tried to dispute this with the claims supervisor, he was dismissive and refused to let me speak with anyone else regarding the matter. He said his decision is final and denied my repeated attempts to resolve the situation with anyone besides him. I stated that it is my right to speak with his superior and discuss this further. Over and over he told me that I must accept his decision and that he would not be providing me the name or number of anyone else to speak with regarding the claim.

This is not a word versus word claim. The physical evidence supports that my damages could not have occurred with my vehicle out of the stall. My foot is on the brake, I place my car in reverse, I turn my head and boom, I’m hit. I had not moved out of my parking stall, and where their insured was parked I couldn’t have moved or the damages couldn’t be where they are on both cars based on where we were both parked. There’s not enough room- which they would know if they actually did an investigation.

Our vehicle was damaged by a tow truck company that pulled our vehicle out of a ditch that was caused by the flooding a couple of weeks ago. The vehicle was at high center so the first tow truck that came said it would take a 'boom' tow truck so that's what we called for. Then he said he needed backup tow to get the car out without damage so he waited. It was very hot outside, humid so the tow driver became impatient so he went over and pulled our car out by DRAGGING it causing undercarriage damage that also pushed the radiator too far back.

We took the car to the place we bought it in Shawnee and obtained an estimate that was over $2,800 to keep the car in warranty. State Farm had us take the car to the State Farm estimator that did a SHABBY job of estimating the cost of the parts and did NOT include the labor to fix these parts. He didn't look up the parts from the part numbers but guessed at the parts and their costs. Example is that he called the Inter-cooler Hose a Radiator HOSE!!! The Radiator Hose only costing $24.00 when in reality the hose was is an Inter Cooler Hose that costs $200 with tax when you buy from the dealership!!!

I attempted repeatedly to convey this concern to State Farm Customer Service only to get the 'run around'!!! One ** girl just hung up on me. Don't expect any real help with your car. State Farm was once a very good company that went by the dealership's estimates but State Farm estimate was 1/3 of what it is actually going to cost and this car is a 2018 model. BEWARE! Even our insurance agent would not make them send a different adjuster to re-evaluate the first one's blunder!

So I finally get someone to listen to the witness and because she didn't SEE the guy hitting my car she's not a good witness now? Get it straight! So it's OK for your guy to lie saying he didn't hit me, but you won't accept an unrelated person that I happened to know as a child as a viable witness because she didn't see him hit my car? But she knows he wasn't there when we parked, she knows his car was against my bumper when we came back, she knows we didn't touch the car until the police came. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT? Maybe that's because you're used to people lying. You should be wholly ashamed of how you treat people.

Apparently all people have to do is lie and State Farm can just avoid responsibility. DO NOT USE STATE FARM! Do the research! Look at the THOUSANDS of negative reviews they have and it's not just from others, it's from THEIR OWN PEOPLE who've paid premiums for decades and when they finally do a claim they either get dropped, get denied for the claim or their rates increase by hundreds every month. My insurance agent did not advocate in good faith for me as he said he would to ensure this claim was reviewed and processed properly. His response was there is nothing he can do. Furthermore, I was advised by State Farm claims in writing and verbally to file a collision/accident claim in place of my vandalism claim as they believed my car was not vandalized. I refused to do that as it would be a false report and I had not been in an accident.

I have been with State Farm for several years with multiple policies and have never been as disappointed as I am now. It is very clear that the decision to deny my claim was already made up prior to properly processing my claim. They have no problem collecting premiums and yet when it comes to honoring policies they mitigate all costs no matter what. How they have a 4 star review on this site is shocking as I have looked at other site reviews and am learning now they have been ranked as one of top ranking WORST insurances when it comes to acting in good faith with processing claims. Based on the agent's recommendation, we opted for State Farm Roadside Assistance instead of AAA. BIG MISTAKE!!! My 21-year-old daughter hit a road hazard resulting in two flat tires. She called roadside assistance to get a tow to a service station to replace the tires. When the first tow truck driver arrived, he refused to tow her because in his opinion there was damage to the car and his contract with State Farm did not include collision calls - only roadside assistance calls. He left her stranded in a sketchy neighborhood in Knoxville. The State Farm agent refused to authorize a tow unless she opened an unnecessary collision claim. She was stranded and scared so, even though I paid out of pocket for the two tires, two rims and alignment, she now has an at-fault collision claim on her record.

If you have State Farm Auto DO NOT GET THEIR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE COVERAGE. In five years, we called 3 times for dead battery and 1 time for lockout. It always took at least 3 hours for help to arrive. In 3 of the 4 instances I resolved the problem before help arrived. While the first tow truck arrived within an hour when my daughter had her blow-out, she was still stranded for close to three hours because the tow truck driver would not assist her.

I recently was involved in a fender bender in which a State Farm insured motorist side swiped my car. I called the claims dept and from the beginning they were completely clueless wasting hours of my valuable time. I agreed to go to one of their approved shops (Manderbach Ford) for the repairs but they could not coordinate a rental call on numerous occasions. I explained the rental needed to be there when I dropped off the car in the morning as I had to go to work and was unable to take time off to deal with this situation. I was told this past Monday that Manderbach Ford would be providing a loaner car and all I had to do was arrive at the dealership, drop off my car and the loaner would be ready and I could go to work.

When I arrived at the dealership there was no loaner and Manderbach Ford had no idea they were suppose to provide a loaner. At this point State Farm was calling Hertz rental who would have taken an hour to arrive then another hour to drive me to their location in Berks County then another hour to drive to my work location. It was at this point, I told them to just send me a check and I would deal with the repairs myself since they were so incompetent in doing so. Immediately after instructing them to send me a check, I received another call from a claims agent and then Hertz rental telling me to wait for the car after I had already articulated I had to go to work and could no longer wait.

Now I am being charged a return fee for the minimal parts that Manderbach Ford ordered (they have no clue what that charge will be as I suspect they are making it up). I have to cover the costs of transportation while my car is being fixed and I have lost hours of work time and have had to deal with an unnecessary amount of stress. When I asked the claims department for the number of the complaint line I was told there was no number to make complaints. How convenient! I can only hope someone reads this post and takes their business to a more reputable company that actually cares about their clients. I will also not recommend Manderbach Ford as they were also less than helpful. I did nothing wrong and if having to deal with this situation is not bad enough and now have to content with an incompetent insurance company.

Years ago, I was in an accident (my fault) and I asked State Farm if filing a claim would affect my insurance, since if it would I figured I might just pay the damages myself instead. They assured me it wouldn't, so I had them cover the damages. Months later, about a month or so from returning from a deployment, I received an email from them, telling me they were dropping me completely, and that I had a couple weeks after I returned to find a new insurer. I do give them credit for at least giving me that time, hence the two stars, but to not only do that after telling me my insurance wouldn't be affected by the claim, not to mention while on deployment, was reprehensible.

And coming back, things are very busy, so a couple weeks, hardly enough time to fully research insurance options under the best of circumstances, just added to the stress of everything. They lost a customer for life due to that. In fact, even the SF agent back home disagreed with what they did, so much so that he offered to cover me against their policy, which is the only reason I would ever consider them again. I would only use SF if I went through a local agent that I knew very well and trusted. But otherwise (and even then), I have no intention of ever doing business with them again.

I was at a red light stopped in the turning lane. A truck rear ended me. He immediately took responsibility and gave me his insurance information. The next day I received a call from State Farm confirming responsibility for the accident. I sustained a whiplash from the rear end collision. The adjuster continually told me to keep track of my bills and they would settle up with everything at the end. In December of last year the adjuster stated “Don’t worry. You have two years to make claims and again stated, "Just keep track of claims and we would settle up in the end." I trusted him. I assumed I was dealing with a reputable company that would stand behind what they said.

Seven months after the accident when I called to let them know I was going to a pain clinic and let them know the cost they immediately took a very defensive approach stating they would not be paying for that and that they would not pay the claims I had already incurred. Their initial offer was 15% of my medical bills. After going back and forth numerous times they finally came up with an offer to pay 35% of medical bills. I was driving a two month old brand new car. They did fix it and pay for a rental car. They would not however pay for any diminished value. I traded the car two months later and took a loss on my car.

They also stated they would not pay for any pain and suffering or for any future medical expenses. They use a “formula” for settlement based on the amount of damage to my car rather than the damage to me. I just don’t understand how a large company can offer to pay expenses and then start a “negotiation” (adjuster's words) with you when you try to get reimbursed for expenses you have incurred in an accident that wasn’t your fault.

I threatened to go to an attorney. They said that would be fine. They evidently have a large group of attorneys on retainer that deal with minimizing payment for claims. I have retained an attorney but do not like the fact that I’ve been put in this position. I only wanted to be reimbursed for expenses I had incurred. It’s just not right. It lacks integrity. Very disappointing.

I had already alerted State Farm the day after the accident what had happened, in case this guy tried to spin a story.

Well he did spin a story, State Farm Claims called me, got my recorded statement, and then called me again within a couple of hours to say they were going to assume liability. They hadn't inspected my truck for damage or anything. They also didn't tell me what he claimed was the case. My local office said when he came in that he stated we were there in the parking lot at the same time. That is a lie! I was totally stopped, then he swings in real fast and hits my door. Needless to say, I am very angry that this goes on my record as an "at fault" accident. My claims department said, "you said you didn't see a car". I told them that meant there was no car there when I opened my door. It was as if they were calling me a liar. If you are in the market for auto insurance, avoid State Farm like the plague!!!

While my wife was at work a tree fell on her car. It damaged the rear quarter panel to the extent that it should be cut out and replaced. The estimator at Courtesy Chevrolet decided that he would use Bondo on the damaged quarter panel instead of replacing it. I have done body work in the past and know that Bondo is a nice fix when you are in a pinch but in the long run it has a long history of cracking when it dries. I live in Arizona where the temperature can be extreme and I do not want to risk having to have her car fixed due to companies that I pay for services from trying to save money at my expense. I also know that my wife pays higher premiums for full coverage for a reason.

I spoke with the State Farm claims department and let them know that the only reason the body shop is recommending the use of Bondo is that if they repaired the car correctly the costs would come close to a total loss and the shop is trying to generate revenue as opposed to customer satisfaction. The State Farm claims department told me that if I wanted the vehicle fixed with new parts then I would be forced to pay for this out of pocket. It has suddenly occurred to me that the disclaimer on the website in regards to customer satisfaction and replacing damaged parts with new ones seems to be a far stretch at best.

I used to think that State Farm was an excellent insurance company; now I know that they are about saving money and have no concern for the customer. I would not recommend this company to anyone and I do plan on cancelling my wife's policy tomorrow. I also intend to pass my experience to on to all who come to me for advice. People rely on an insurance company to help them in the worst times of their lives. We have learned that State Farm is not the insurance company you should put your faith in and I encourage all who read this to not make the same mistake we did.

My experience with State Farm was the Absolute worst I have ever had with any company in my entire life nor been ripped off for a truckload of my hard earned money that I saved up over 5 years and bought, fixed up & sold 4 older different pickups and I was able to pay half down on a brand new GMC Sierra 2500HD 4X4 Truck loaded to the hilt with all the options that were available. 1 1/2 years go by and I put about 35000 miles on it, also still like new until I was on a Mountain road and this bicyclist comes bombing down the hill on a blind corner passing a car on the outside and there I went over and down the cliff about 30 yrds. I called State Farm while I was in the Hospital and told them. I too told the Truck, the agent got real excited, gave him my policy # and I hear a sudden click. He hung up on me.

Making a long story short, I received a call from the claims dept and filled them in. 2 days later a claims adjuster calls me then tells me the figure that State Farm's going to pay me. It sounded low to me. I almost blew a gasket, I said, "Look at the VIN one more time. Each letter and number represents everything, like eng size, trans, Etc." He told me the vehicle only had all the standard equipment,& accessories, that's how the vehicle's value is partially determined. I had a good friend in a different dealership down south. He researched a identical Truck, and lo & behold, State Farm stole close to $4500.00 from me after it was said and done. I should have gone straight to the State Insurance Board, then to BBB.

PLEASE NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH STATE FARM INSURANCE, THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF CROOKS AFTER YOUR MONEY!!! I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my story and I hope some people will find this useful and save themselves a lot of money along with a bunch of major headaches. My daughter's car was hit by a State Farm insurer. The expense to fix car was above the percentage they like to pay so State Farm totaled vehicle. They picked up the totaled car within the first week and sent a check to the local branch for pick up. The check was sent 7 days from the time claim initially filed, but we were not notified to pick up check for another 4 days. State Farm gave her a rental car for 7 days. But I called to ask if there was any kind of extension on the rental because the day the rental was due back was the day we were to pick up check. I explained we needed check in order to buy another vehicle and since we were just notified to pick up today could we extend a few more days...a week at most in order to find another vehicle and finance.

Considering this was not my daughter's fault at all, then I dont believe she should be penalized and be difficult for her. The representative I spoke with...her name "Angel"...was bit the least be helpful. Would not even attempt or try to help. She said there was no way to extend rental on car that it would not happen then asked me to stay on hold while she calls local office. I inquired as to why do I need to be on hold while she calls if she or state Farm is not going to extend car rental. I explained I understood being on hold if she trying to contact local office about just now notifying us to pick up check and that would approve an extension on rental but she abruptly and very rude told me again that No extension will be given but please hold so I again asked why do I need to hold? She said, "Cause it's an issue that we are just notified."

My issue is this - I need an extension on rental. That may be a state Farm issue on issuing check but my problem is transportation and of no fault of ours. She just kept saying no extension available. We only had it a week so I guess I am to assume we are to rush and find a good vehicle while working and school. Again I cannot buy vehicle without the money from State Farm and just now available to pick up. I requested to speak to her supervisor and Angel's remark, "This does not require my managers attention." Well how does she determine that? Maybe because she knows she was not helpful and would not take time to even try to be helpful or NICE?

STATE FARM please help and train your representatives to be Nice and Kind above all else. If she is there to help..then Angel is in wrong career! I have never wrote a complaint or bad review on any company... this is my first NEGATIVE complaint review and never have wanted a person to lose job or reprimanded on my behalf but this lady should not represent your company unless you want a negative opinion. If the rental is not available for extension then maybe a discussion as to explain policy and sorry for any trouble because I did not know if available or not and was anticipating a no on extension until Angel was rude and acted like she didnt have the time and concentrated more on the company issue than the customer.

I received a check dated 4/9/2019 for $257.13 from State Farm for the same amount that was to be sent to the collision center last month. However it was mailed to my previous address. I received the check and deposited it.

This week, I received a notice from my bank that the check has been voided therefore my account was overdrawn. I contacted State Farm and they said that they sent emails regarding payment to collision center, however I have not dealt with this company in 2 years. All of their emails were directed into my spam mailbox. Why in the hell would you mail a check to someone (in error) and not notify them by phone to state so. Or better yet use common sense to say, "Hey! We sent a check to this person in error, let's give them a call and let them know not to cash it" or how about send out an specific email stating a error in payment and, "Please contact our office asap," and void check # then I would not have this headache. Short story even longer - I have since been sued in small claims court and this is just a never ending nightmare because I can't even buy a policy from anywhere else because clearly my record still reflects my being totally at fault in that ** accident. Our agent informed us that motorcycles have automatic roadside assistance in the state of California through State Farm’s. The first time we needed a tow, we had to have the agent call to confirm this because roadside assistance knows nothing about it but it got covered after they called themselves. Now it’s the second time (a year later) that it needs to be towed. Roadside still has no clue even though they can see in their system that it has been towed previously on our policy. After talking to my agent, they also said it’s covered but now we have to pay for it and then bill them!!!!

I feel like this is an issue. What if someone on a motorcycle was broken down on the side of the highway and didn’t have the funds to pay immediately (then wait for a check possibly 3 weeks later). What if they were broke down and mentioned their phone dying then got out on a long hold, got a crappy response and told they would get a call back but never got the call back. It’s an awful system to say motorcycles are covered by Roadside but not mention it would be out of pocket for a 3 mile tow (estimated $150) and then you’d have to file a claim. Don’t fall for their tricks, it’s a hassle.

In October of 2018 I decided to ditch Geico in favor of State Farm. I was tired of rate increases every 6 months and no real answer as to why. I had two vehicles insured and renters insurance. The day I opened an account with State Farm the agent claimed that computer glitches were causing issues with the system and that he would call me to complete the transaction. This should have been my red flag to run away. I have always been a month to month payer but I had enough in the bank where I figured I would go ahead and purchase a year's worth of insurance. I explained this to my agent and he never informed me that I could only pay six months.

At the time I was extremely busy and was going in multiple directions so I did not check my bank statement when a week later I was called for payment. As the months went by my one vehicle started having headlight issues and I would get pulled over. Every time I opened my app I would get a sense of relief to see that I was paid in full until October 2019. It was never for the renters insurance, it always stated it was for each specific vehicle. In March I received a letter that stated that I was paid in full for both vehicles until October of 2019 but in April I received a letter stating that payment was due.

Now I will admit that I did not open that letter until the day after I got pulled over due to my ongoing headlight issue. What made me open that letter was opening my app and seeing that a payment was due by May 2nd. I have no way of paying that at this time so my insurance will lapse. All I get is apologies over the phone and of course the typical "blame the customer" and "it was a computer glitch that we have never had happen before that caused all of this". For six months no one at State Farm noticed this issue? This is my fault how? When I have been told up until this month that I was paid for a year?!?

One fix my agent's office tried doing was to try and get me onto some sort of monthly pay plan and stretch my payment until June 7th but apparently no one at State Farm knows what they are doing because today I received notice that they could not do this and payment would be needed by May 2nd. I did reach out to customer service but only walked away more confused. Customer service states that my policy will cancel out on May 21st but my agent tells me May 2nd so who really knows?

I will say Geico never caused me to have a lapse only to struggle even harder to pay an extra $50 rate increase every 6 months. Stay away from State Farm, like Geico they only want money. They do not care for their customers. Now I get to ride away with a blown headlight again and no insurance, that is what I have always wanted to do! I have not had a lapse in insurance in years and now my rates will go up, thank you State Farm for giving me yet another hurdle in life.

I have had State Farm Insurance for many (30) years, and I have always enjoyed the personal attention I get when I need to add or change insurance, or if I have a claim. Recently, I was on a trip, and was eating at a restaurant with family, and when I came out of the restaurant, my van had been severely damaged by a hit and run driver. We assume it was a drunk driver. When I called my State Farm agent, they were happy to hear that I was not injured, and then they were ready to work on the damaged van. From the first call, to the completed repairs, was TWO WEEKS! I am talking about some serious repairs were completed in TWO WEEKS.

State Farm has many Preferred Provider shops, that do estimates, and repairs for them. They are trusted, and certified shops, and that means it cuts through the usual delays, and gets the repairs done quickly. State Farm, paid exactly what they said they would, quickly, and clearly. My agent called to be sure everything was to my satisfaction, and the repairs look great. This is how insurance is supposed to work. I can't say enough good about State Farm.

My agent said that they are in the check writing business. I said "What?" He said, "If we don't write checks, then we aren't helping people when they need help." Now that is my kind of agent, and my kind of insurance company. I don't shop around for a cheaper company. Insurance is supposed to give you coverage so you can sleep at night, and have help when you really need it. I get that with State Farm.

My Dad has been with State Farm for over 15 years. Not one accident. When I and my brother got to the age to drive he added us on to the plan. There were no problems for 10 years. We called, our agent answered and usually able to help us directly. We haven't lived with our dad for over 7 years but we stayed on the same policy because it was easy and they were good.

4 years ago my brother bought a new car. Getting them to figure out that he had replaced his car and the discounts they told us about- we didn't even know to ask for them- was a fricking 6 month process. They would overcharge us and then apologize someone "forgot" to apply the discounts “and "Oh by the way you should get life insurance”. This conversation happened once a month for 6 months! I told them why would I get any more insurance with you if you can't even figure this out?!?

Then I moved into an apartment that required renter's insurance so I got that through them with my new apartment address and everything. So to sum up 3 cars, 2 full protection and 1 liability plus 2 renters’ policies (mine and my dad’s) our monthly charge- $425.69. Mind you my brother and I don't have perfect records but in November I purchased a new car and then traveling in a different city there was a sudden stop and I hit the guy in front of me - totaling my car and just slight damage to his rear bumper and driver side tail light because I had swerved to not hit him full on. No one was ticketed and I was thankful that we were all okay.

They did fine with the claim and walked me through the process but then after I got a different car told me that they couldn't cover my car because of that accident and my brother’s history so they dropped it - I was stunned they didn’t offer me a policy on my own or anyway to rebuff that decision. My history was 1 ticket and this accident- my brother’s was worse – the agents didn’t understand why they kicked my car off versus his especially since I had been with them longer. But you know what – fine. I’ll find new insurance so I did – I now pay $100 less (mine was $200 for full through them) and my agent now easily explains why this or that is the way it is.

BUT now after I dropped out of all of my State Farm policies they need proof that I don’t live with my dad- 7 years ago they didn’t need proof – they still don’t need proof that my brother doesn’t live with him. But unless I show them my declarations page of my car insurance they are going to drop my brother too. And their agents can’t even give me a good enough reason as to why it’s need when they knew with my policy that I didn’t live with him. State Farm is a good insurance if you never use it and you are okay with HIGH costs – my whole family is switching because of this nonsense.

I received the confirmed quote, policy etc via email, but after a month they increased the premium by 50% saying that this is from the Corporate office and there is nothing they could do.

However, when I received the refund from this agency, they deduced about 15% amount saying this is a cancellation charge, which they did not mention before cancelling the policy. During this transfer we thought a document of cancellation was sent to State Farm, only to find out 8 months later, it had not. They still charged us the premium for the year even though we had a declarations page to prove we had insurance elsewhere. They have a policy that states they can only backdate insurance 30 days from cancellation (BE AWARE).

I feel this is unjust and protects the multi million dollar company rather than hard working families. Their interest will never be with the client and only with themselves. It should not be legal to be charged insurance by two different companies, given you have proper documentation to prove this. The other driver and I both had pulled our cars off the road after the accident (before the trooper showed up), which they are also using against me. They do not even have a copy of the police report yet and they’ve determined that they are only accepting 80% liability! I have to pay 20% because of the aforementioned questions and the fact that an unidentified neighbor was backing out of his driveway, blocking the view of my car from their car moments before the collision! I am disgusted that State Farm is not fairly handling my claim. Their goal isn’t to do what’s right, they are just out to pay as little as possible and increase their yearly profit. I will be submitting my claim through my own company and they can battle it out in court.

I've been with State Farm for about 6 years. Every year, they raise the price. I never had any accident for the last 13 years, but the price was so high. Every time I asked if they could do anything with reducing the price, they always said that they already gave discount, and also they said that the state raised the price. The price was $102/month (full coverage) for only for 1 car. That was a bit too pricey. So, I quit from them and I got better deal at USAA for $199/month for 4 cars (2 full coverage & 2 only liability). I'm very happy with my new insurance at USAA now.

A guy who hit my car holds State Farm insurance. When the accident happened, the police officer arrived to the site in a couple of mins and investigated the accident for a couple of hours. He talked to both drivers and inspected both vehicles on sites. The police believes other driver violated the rule and caused the accident. He said I need to call his insurance State Farm to file a claim.

I immediately called State Farm and sent the photo and police inspection video to State Farm. In the video the police officer says other driver got citation because he violated the traffic rule and I did nothing wrong. State Farm agent called me and told me the video was not recorded for the moment when the accident was happening and she would not think what the police officer saying helps her decision. Then she told me that she made her decision that I was driving without lookout so I should share 35% loss of the accident. The State Farm claim specialist is not fairly handling my claim. I agree State Farm is the most unethical company. They have the same goal to pay as little as possible.

I do not feel that they listened to or took my side into account AT ALL when making their decisions in claims. I even went on to complain to a supervisor and division head after such poor experience. After speaking with the supervisor/division head I removed all of our service. One of the accidents I was found to be "at fault" even had my name spelled incorrectly on the paperwork throughout the entire thing -- 13 pages?!?! I gave up trying to correct their mistakes and changed providers as soon as I could. I am now with AAA and would NEVER EVER recommend someone return to State Farm. I was married. State Farm allowed my wife at the time to set up my homeowner's insurance in her name as primary insured. Home was only in my name in deed and title and on loan and mortgage with escrow was in my name alone. The agent refused to allow the policy that I paid for to be in my name. I had to take it to another office and agent.

My credit had been destroyed by my ex as she took over approx. $163,000 in credit cards and loans in my name. County Attorney refused prosecution and courts actually forced me to pay 100% of insurance claims checks from State Farm to my ex on forged loans as well as the destruction to my credit. Due to credit destruction I had to stay with State Farm as I couldn't take a hit on credit again and rates would have been horrible as today's American courts actually allow, support and reward fraud if it is a woman doing it to a husband. Even when they commit perjury on parts and admit parts. Of course this could be just Montana.

So after recovering after being court ordered to pay off a loan against my house taken in my name by my ex... yes I was ordered to pay the loan off or lose my house when a loan was taken out against and forged. With that recovery I got rid of a car and a truck. I added a new car and a new truck. Both used of course but newer.

State Farm took 6 months... yes 6 months to get the policy written on the new truck. I am being back billed over $950. For the last 6 months I have not been receiving multi-line discount. I filed a complaint about the 6 months to write the policy, having the payment on the old truck and the overpayment on the new car that was not recognized on a multi-line discount to be applied to the truck as credit that I had paid.

Basically I have been told, "Too bad." I have informed my agent's office and the headquarters where the complaint was lodged. Here is the $950+ as I know they will get it in our corrupt courts. I will obtain new policies with a company that has customer service capabilities. Not even a response from either. So if you want policies to be changed by other people and you want to have a policy take 6 months to be written so you can be back billed and then get a "so sad too bad" response then go ahead and choose State Farm. If not go elsewhere.

The agent takes your information received a yearly or monthly stipend and have another department manage or mismanage your account, and handled your disappointment(s). Then the agent will claim he cannot give you an apology or does not know anyone who can give you an apology in State Farm after my $1200 was re-directed or mismanaged into a "foreign account." It took approximately 12 months and several letters to received an apology.

My suggestion to all unhappy clients is Small Claim court. You can win or lose but the message will be clear that the days of ** tactics and/or disingenuous approaches are over. Also, do everything in writing! Do very little communication over the phone. Write to the California Insurance Commissioner, if you live in California. I have numerous letters regarding unauthorized cancel of my homeowner's insurance, mismanagement of $1200, failure to inform me in a timely manner of a class action suit against SF and it losing the class action suit, incorrect loan balance, less-than-truthful input to car insurance, and etc.

Since many insurance companies are basically the same the best advice is put your disappointment(s) in writing to help your memory in the future and to obtain some form of satisfaction. Oh yeah, follow-up, follow-up in your complaint. SF alleges that it is not aware of "chapter 13" waste management" department - a pseudo-department where your complaint disappears.

I was involved in a car accident the beginning of February 2019. State Farm's insured cut me off and slammed into my car. I originally was not going to pursue a claim so I never contacted them. However, after head injuries and consulting my doctor, I wanted to get at least compensated for lost work and doctor bills. I called State Farm and the original Rep was extremely rude and condescending. Immediately, she said, "well we have already established liability and found you at fault"! Umm, wait, what am I missing.

I asked how was that established being I was never contacted for a statement, their insured received a citation for the accident and the damages to the cars coherent to them being at fault. She continued to say that based on their insured statement and the police report, (by which held their insured liable), they said they determined they were not liable. Totally confused, I started asking questions. The rep was short with me and very rude. Finally she said she will review it with her supervisor and will call me back. She called back and said, their decision will not change. They will not be liable.

Frustrated I left it alone. After about another week or two, I called back and spoke with Nina because my insurance company and has filed arbitration against State Farm. When I called this time to speak with another rep. To my surprise, she was also very, very rude and condescending as well. I asked to speak with a supervisor or someone a bit higher than her and she said, she will not at this time. She stated she will review the claim and if she feel something is missed she will call me back. I asked when should I expect to hear back and she said, "If I don't see anything, I will not call you back." What the... These people really want me to flip out. I again said I really need to speak to someone else, and she refused. I then asked her to please have someone else give me a callback. She said, "I need to get off the phone to review the claim." And that all I was doing was holding her up. Just awful!

No State Farm is not my auto insurance company, however, I am a signer and a policyholder for one of my corporations and carry a commercial umbrella policy with State Farm. I have already started the process to switch insurance companies. I am so surprised by how rude and disrespectful they all were to me. I will not recommend State Farm Insurance for anything. I thought it was a joke that an insurance company would refuse to take rightful responsibility for an accident. NO IT IS NOT. Truth is, to fight for liability is one thing--to be totally rude and disrespectful is another. They all need customer service training ASAP. My husband and I have a multi policy with State Farm. We have had their insurance since 2012. We have 5 full coverage car insurance policies, a homeowners policy with all the adds on and an umbrella policy just for extra protection. We have never had a claim. In Jan 2018 a semi truck driver from Canada carrying huge chunks of ice, flew off the top of his semi trailer and hit our 2012 Jeep as my family and I were driving on the interstate in KY. We flagged and followed the semi driver off of an exit to a truck stop. The semi driver admitted fault and apologized and gave us his information. He could clearly see the ice wedged in between our soft top moon roof along with huge dents in the front of our vehicle. It was 55 degrees outside and there was no snow or ice anywhere except the top of his trailer. We were on the way to a family member's funeral, it was terrible timing to have something like this happen.

I called the truck driver's insurance company the following week and submitted 3 quotes for repairs. I had statements from 4 of the 5 body shops that said they wouldn’t work on our vehicle because of the high probability that the roof would leak or they didn’t have any experience working on the Skyglider. The only body shop I could find that had any experience working on the Skyglider system was a Jeep Dealership.

From the very beginning the dealership told me I needed the entire roof replaced with a new skyglider. The truck driver's insurance company sent out an adjuster to review the damages. His Canadian insurance company refused to the fix the car before I signed off on the check and they wanted to take 20% off the repair quote for depreciation. I thought this was unfair and SLEAZY and I said no. I went back and forth with his insurance company for 2 months. All the while my roof was leaking and causing electrical damage like shorting out the window from the leak above.

We had just purchased this vehicle at the end of October 2018, it was in perfect condition prior to this. I went to see our State Farm Agent, we know her very well. She lives in our community. She advised us to turn it into our policy, so we could get our car fixed without all this hassle and allow State Farm’s attorneys to subrogate the claim. So we followed her advice and submitted the claim. I went back to the same Jeep Dealer who luckily was also a State Farm Certified Body shop (One of the three original quotes that was submitted). They were confident they could work on the complex Skyglider roof system and wanted to replace it. Once State Farm got involved the State Farm adjuster actually worked against replacing the roof system. I later found out that it was because Chrysler stopped making the parts. The dealership kept our Jeep until 12/26/18, only a few days shy of a one year marker.

Every time they called me and told me my Jeep was ready something else was damaged and the roof was still leaking upon arrival. State Farm was aware of these issues. The dealer wanted to put a skin on the roof and remove the moon roof completely which would devalue my car. I agreed to do this because I wanted the leaking roof repaired. State Farm refused to fix the roof and told me to call Chrysler. I called Chrysler and the customer service agent was just as rude as dealing with State Farm and neither would not put anything in writing to help me get my car fixed. My agent said she was so sorry and tried everything she could to help us, but I found out agents have no power so don’t rely on them being able to assist you in anyway. They are just a smiling face without power. So here I am with a car that I’m paying full coverage insurance on, can’t drive, still leaking and sitting at the Jeep Dealership for over a year.

We wrote and asked State Farm to replace our roof with a skin and they wouldn’t do that because they said it would change the structure of the vehicle. I asked them to total the vehicle. They said no. My husband and I decided to contact an attorney because we felt what was happening to us was very wrong. We found out that if you’re not injured in an accident, which none of us were...attorneys won’t take your case because the pay out isn’t enough. So we have $19k in our Jeep and our measly $4000 claim for the roof to be repaired. We would have lost more money to trade or sell the vehicle, we looked into it. So we forked over the $4000 to have the skin put on and repairs made out of our own pocket.

Let me recap, we have a multi policy with State Farm for over 7 years, high premiums, full coverage, no claims, the accident on record wasn’t our fault and the person who was at fault had full coverage insurance. But we had to pay to get our vehicle fixed out of our own pocket and we paid the bodyshop our State Farm $250 deductible.

We are shopping for insurance now. These big insurance companies can do whatever they want because they know regular consumers like us can’t afford to sue them for $4000. It wouldn’t be financially viable for us to do so. State Farm also knows attorneys are only interested in the injury money maker cases. I cannot recommend State Farm. They are white collar criminals. We are a middle class family with extra coverage and I feel State Farm is a fraudulent company who broke the law by not upholding their end of our insurance contract. We pay big money every month on time for full coverage policies and they outright didn’t honor our insurance coverage agreement. They can do whatever they want because there is no one to hold them accountable. If there is a silver lining, We are just grateful that we found out about State Farm now. Thank goodness it wasn’t an expensive home claim from something like a natural disaster.

He ended up hitting the stopped vehicle in front of him who was pushed into my wife’s vehicle. Liability was accepted by State Farm and they paid to get her vehicle fixed. She was injured and had over 30 visits with providers. We kept calling the bodily injury adjuster to find out what we should be doing with no response. She finished treatment in November and we called once a week after that to find out what we needed to do with no answer and no response.

We made over 20 calls to them over the past few months with one single call back. They gave us a low ball offer to settle the bodily injury and we refused. They said this was the best they could do based on the damage to our vehicle. When I pushed more they raised the offer but it is still a low ball offer. They are now saying this is the best they can do based on the damage to our vehicle. I have left several messages for the adjusters boss with no return call. They are not willing to pay for what they owe. We have collections agency’s after us because they refused to properly review the documents submitted and evaluate the claim in a timely manner.

We still have not settled the claim and we still have not heard from the adjuster's boss. The adjuster rarely answers our calls, even when we leave a message, and never returns calls when we do. DO NOT GET STATE FARM FOR YOUR INSURANCE. They are not responsive and don’t care about you or the people you may get in an accident with. Second of all, I should be notified that my car insurance will be canceled, so I will not drive without valid insurance for over a month. We are still waiting to be paid back, the same year we had to put in two windshield repair claims and my husband bumped another car leaving nothing on either car! The lady my husband bumped worked for State Farm, she went into the system. Found my phone number (I wasn’t in the little fender bender so how would she have my number). That lady who had ZERO marks on her car claimed a medical injury (btw she’s insured by a different company, not the one she works for) after telling my husband that she was in an accident the week prior in her other vehicle which totaled that car!

State Farm didn’t listen to my husband's claim, didn’t take the picture we have of both the cars and paid her out! Meanwhile we have not been paid out for the accident caused by someone else, and State Farm canceled us stating we had too many claims in one year! They include windshield repairs against you! However, when I submitted the claim, it took more than 3 days for a callback and there was minimal investigation into the accident. Even though I submitted several pieces of evidence, including pictures and diagrams of the occurrence (not to mention documentation showing safety features my car contains vs. the lack of features his large SUV contains) they stated there was no evidence their insured was at fault. Save yourself a headache and choose another company who will advocate for the consumer. If they treat an auto insurance claim with such indifference, how do you think they'll treat a home insurance claim?

As my daughter was driving through a parking lot alley, State Farm customer pulled out and hit my car on passenger front side, above front wheel well. I filed with State Farm, but they are telling me I’m 20% liable and would only pay 80% of the damages because their customer was a quarter way out and I could have taken evasive actions to avoid them. I’ve substantial pictures taken after the accident to support that their customer hit my car, yet they are refusing to fix my car. I’m planning to file complaints against them at State Insurance Corporation, but would appreciate any other inputs.

I was rear ended at a red light. State Farm doesn't want to pay for damage because I had previously damage to the side of my vehicle that is not related to the accident. They have literally gotten out of paying for anything. I have never filed an insurance claim in my life. I took the car to a certified auto shop on two occasions with pictures. The mechanic stated issues were related to accident. He even spoke directly to agent and advised. They have been nothing but rude and they do not return calls.

A State Farm investigator who is bias to State Farm because he works there, said it's wear and tear. Of course he would say that he works there. Who regulates State Farm and has checks and balances. This is so one sided and bias. Of course a vehicle will have wear and tear but if I had never been hit I wouldn't have the issues. I have been treated like a criminal and they are so rude and condescending toward the consumer the people who in turn help pay their salaries. Everyone in the world is not a liar and it's just sad. Just to let everybody know how bad State Farm is. I have been a loyal client of State Farm for about 20 years or so. I have no accidents or tickets. The one time I made a claim because somebody hit my car and mess up my hood and windshield. They told me it was two separate claims and is trying to get out of helping me. Also I'm the kind of person that never complains and don't even send my food back because not was messed up. But State Farm is the worse insurance company I could ever imagine and I will be canceling them and going to another insurance company. I wouldn't recommend State Farm to anybody.

I lived in Dallas-Fort Worth for over 30 years, I had the State Farm agent all that time. No problems or issues. As of 6 months ago, I was transferred to the Bossier City, Louisiana area. As of this writing, I have had to send my homeowner's, life, and auto policies to Baton Rouge which is approximately 7 hours away. I have done this because of the unprofessional behavior of this agent and his office manager. I was told that IF I transferred in the area I lived in, they would go out of their way to tell every State Farm Agent my history here in Louisiana. We now have been hung up on here AGAIN because our life insurance has NOT been transferred to the new agent, the agent nor the office manager will speak to us. We now have late fees, policies not getting paid because we are being told that HEADQUARTERS is to blame. I would recommend to go with USAA or a more reputable company. Thank you.

Took 1/2 hour to finally navigate the taped responses to get to a customer service rep, where we again were subjected to repeating all of our statistics and being told they could not find our account.

After calling back with the identical info, but new Rep. was the asked questions like where we were. What town are we near. All delay tactics as if "on side of eastbound LIE at Midtown tunnel exit" was not enough to find us. We attempted to change the tire ourselves. Not a job for a 72 yr old grandpa with daughters on the side of the expressway in the dark. Luckily, we got assistance from another party and after about 1.5 hours were able to resume our journey. I have been with State Farm for 3 years. When I went to purchase a new vehicle I call my insurance company to get a quote and they stated that I did not have insurance for the last 6 months, which I was unaware of. I was supposed to have automatic payments coming out of my account which would ensure that I was covered on a monthly basis. I had no notice of cancellation. I had no phone call about the cancellation. This is terrible customer service. When I got a quote on my new car it ended up being $243 on a monthly basis. This is outrageous! I have a fantastic driving history, no accidents, no tickets and that is what they quoted me.

Today I called to cancel my policy because I found a policy for $170 less for the same coverage and once I stated that I was going to cancel my policy the customer service rep changed his tone of voice and treated me very poorly. I also asked him to assure that my automatic payment would not be coming out as I had set up when I first started my policy for my brand new car, he put me on hold, came back and said I was not set up for automatic payments so that I should be okay.

Once I informed him that this was another reason why I was canceling the policy because when a customer requests something it's never done correctly that I would like him to inform my State Farm agent this is why he's losing customers. I got backlash and the customer service rep said okay bye. Absolutely will never use State Farm again. In addition when State Farm hires these customer service reps while you're interviewing you should put emphasis on hiring good personalities, not just work experience. Terrible Service. I recommend finding another insurance company for this one surely will go out of business In the future based off of customer service alone.

My family and I had State Farm for about a decade before we began getting into accidents which in turn they deemed us high-risk clients and canceled us. However in the process, we received many discounts of which, was signing for a life insurance policy that I didn't want or need. They breached the law by NOT disclosing that I would surrender the cash I have been paying for three years (amount does not exceed $1,000) had I canceled. The person that sold me the policy was not fluent in English and knew little to nothing about the product she was selling me.

The reason I signed was because they incentivized it telling me that I would receive a substantial discount. I've been paying $28 for the past three years and when I finally called to cancel, it unraveled into bitter feud I did not want from the beginning. This office in particular preys on unsuspecting people that know are not familiar with business/insurance vernacular and sell them on virtually anything.

When I finally got around to canceling, I received a letter in the mail completely contradicting the information I was told at their physical office. In the letter, I am told that the amount I've surrendered is $38.24 which couldn't be further from the truth, as I have had this policy for well over three years. They have deliberately falsified and retained vital information to refrain from paying me what is owed. I was also told I would received a check in the mail, however, not in the amount of $9.33. I am asking that the money I've paid them in the last couple of years be reimbursed in full.

We had State Farm for our homeowners insurance for over 25 years, paid all premiums on time, and never had a claim. Sometime after that period of time our house was hit by lightning & hail multiple times. We made 6 claims, 3 of which resulted in $0 dollar claims. After the second hail claim to replace our roof & a car, State Farm dropped us stating that “we were too high of a risk, & that we should take more precaution!” I wrote a letter to the CEO, which was intercepted by some overpaid middle manager, who called me and basically told me that I wasn’t going to speak with the overpaid CEO, and that they were dropping us, and to move on! CEO Michael Tipsord’s 2017 pay was $8.5 million! Poor guy.

So they love customers who pay year after year, but when you need their support for the services you’re paying them for, they drop you because now they have to pay. Money doesn’t seem to be a problem with the amount of advertising, and sponsorships they do to lure people to buy their products, but it is when a customer needs their support! I was fortunate to get coverage from Allstate at a lower price & have been a customer of theirs for close to 10 years. I would not recommend State Farm.

I was in a minor car accident on Christmas Eve of last year. I was completely not at fault as another driver hit me trying to pass a semi truck on an interstate. We were both State Farm drives and everyone was fine so I figured the claim process would be simple. There was minor damage to my car, which is older so I took it to one of State Farm's select service auto body repair shops. The mechanic told me there was some pre-existing rust (which I did not know about) and State Farm would only pay some damage and I would have to pay out of pocket. He said it would be $3000 out of pocket, and advised me to cash out the claim and save the money for when I could afford the repairs. So, I did just that. Well, last night at 6:45 pm I received a voicemail stating State Farm had overpaid the claim and I had to write them a check for $1000 and had 30 days to pay.

Note: they did not send anything in writing and when I called back 15 minutes after getting the voicemail, I was told there was no one available to discuss my issue. When I called back I spoke to an extremely rude woman who said I should have realized the claim was overpaid. I explained that I thought the difference had to do with the mechanic and what he told me. She said either I pay it in 30 days or it will be sent to collections. I still have not received anything in writing, which is extremely concerning to me. I have been a customer of State Farm since I first got my license (20 yrs).

I left due to back customer service but decided to give them another chance. Well, not anymore. The way I have been treated is ridiculous. No apologies, no admittance they made a mistake. All they said was I have 30 days to pay them. I don't have money for a lawyer. The check from the claim I used to purchase a new laptop as mine was damaged in the accident but I was told that could not be proven so no luck there. I would recommend everyone should stay clear of State Farm and their select service repair shops.

My son was on a one lane road driving behind a car. The other car decided to slow down and get on the shoulder and continue slowing. He continued driving and when he got almost past the other vehicle that is on the shoulder, that vehicle decided to make a hard left to get back into the lane. Resulting in back half on passenger side of my vehicle to be damaged. When insurance claims department for other vehicle (which is also State Farm) took my teenage son's statement he told them he was 2-3 car lengths behind car when she pulled onto shoulder.

They are now saying he stated he was that far behind her when she got back into lane, thus could have avoided her hitting him. Either they misunderstood my son's statement or he misspoke being nervous but by the damage to my vehicle, it clearly indicates he was almost past her when she pulled back into lane plus police report indicates she was a fault. If happened as they are saying, the front of my vehicle would be damaged, not the rear passenger side. I explained that to them & sent pictures of damage but they said they only take first statement no matter what happened. They are trying to say he is 15% at fault. I am currently getting a lawyer to fight this and shopping other insurance companies. How can they ignore proof, I believe it's because if they say he is 15% at fault, then they can justify raising my rates but accepting the facts, they cannot raise my rates. State Farm is shady and I will never use them again.

I see all these negative claims against State Farm. So I thought I'd write a positive one. We've had a couple of claims in the past 5 years and both were handled to our complete satisfaction. Neither was our fault, but our state is a "no fault" status. The first incident was a young lady texting who ran a red light and broadsided my wife in our newest vehicle. Thank God, no injury to my wife but an expensive fix to the vehicle. And there was a witness. The second incident was unusual. We live in a condo and the snowplow driver never came so the slush built up and then froze. When my wife came home from work, she helplessly tried to stop in the driveway and slid right into the garage door. Both claims were handled very well. They have always been fair to us. The only reason I can't fully give 5 stars is because rates on older vehicles keep raising a bit every few months.

I had an accident in April 2017. Someone backed into me as I was approaching a stop light after they overshot the intersection... State Farm said only body damage and minor issues. Paid for the repairs. FAST FORWARD... July, car feels funny but I'm told nothing is wrong... (Sometime between) Jul-Nov...called State Farm to come look at vehicle due to side mirror never being added to original estimate nor was fixed. Adjuster came out to place of work and said she recommends I go to a used parts shop and buy a replacement mirror because her boss will not allow her to approve it due to Camaro mirrors being high priced. YET...2 more adjusters came out to view issues. When I called about having after accident issues both deemed my vehicle nondrivable and approved transmission assembly to be repaired or replaced despite the fact 3k miles had been driven since the accident.

I was told by mechanics AND the adjuster the transmission may not be the entire issue but he could tell immediately that the accident caused damage that was not initially predicted and apologized for not catching the damage initially thusly preventing extensive damages. It was asked if the engine was assessed and I was told, "Let's look into one major issue at a time because to assess the engine it would need to be removed and completely broken down to examine internal components for extent of damage if damage did exist within engine due to accident." I agreed and transmission, intercooler, radiator, and some other parts were paid to be replaced completely. I was told I was all good to go... Both my mechanic and I took my Camaro for a test drive after months of dealing with State Farm. Not a block into drive car is still acting funny.

I call State Farm and report this. They say they need to look inside of engine and I'd need to cover the cost upfront and if engine did indeed need repair I'd be reimburse. So I handed over 1500.00 and authorize the breakdown of my beautiful engine. Different adjuster came out and I was told via phone it was not approved because they didn't see damage but more importantly because I had placed 3k miles on the vehicle since original repairs and technically I should feel lucky because my transmission should have never been approved! Yes these words came from my claim specialist. She stated mechanics never sent her reports in timely manner. I verified with shop and they assured me they sent report to State Farm when they sent the same copy to me. I called State Farm back and explained this to them and I was told by team member if I could email in the report. In which I did.

Then my claim specialist calls me and says report not complete. They want more of a breakdown and want original diagnostic codes from state authorized system to prove the engine light was on and why they even thought something was possibly wrong with the engine to cause the breakdown and inspection to be requested. The shop complied. After my claim handler got everything she needed including a video I drove an hour from home to take off the mechanic breaking down the issue in full and simplified so even I could understand the cause issue and effect.

She said she still would refuse to approve it because the shop took too long to respond with docs. (Keep in mind we just suffered thru Harvey. An extreme ice freeze that took the entire city off grid for a week...and a snowstorm Texas wasn't familiar with. I had a newborn child, and a home to repair due to mother nature so the engine was not a number one priority such as fixing leaks, roofs, furniture, and lives.) Well... Here it is Feb 2019 and my Camaro still sits exactly where it has been since 2017. I even questioned why it couldn't be approved since I was not at fault and the other insurance would be covering damages regardless since other driver admitted fault and 3 experts viewed my engine and all components of vehicle and deemed the engine damage due to unassessed initial damage both original mechanics and adjusters overlooked.

She stated they didn't know what they were talking about. She is an expert and she knows the 3k miles I drove solely caused engine issues and just because other insurance will be paying State Farm in full for cost State Farm is the one that has to wait for the agreement to be reached and the higher the damages cost the harder for approval it is since as she stated technically the vehicle should have been deemed a total loss because damage cost are more than amount I owed for vehicle. I asked to speak with supervisor and all he told me was, "I agree with whatever outcome she decides."

WOW... I then am told from the auto shop when they spoke with her she originally agreed to repair engine partly due to the fact that, (in her words) "let's get this thing fixed so I can close Ms. ** claim because that woman is nothing but trouble for me, send me the report and cost to repair and it should be approved within two weeks once I send my adjuster to verify vehicle is as report states then we will proceed to being done with Ms. **." Adjuster came and viewed Camaro and concurred with mechanics findings... Shortly after this verbal slander took place I was told about it and I proceeded to call my claim team and file a grievance. Was told she was on vacation and issue would be addressed then.

When she came back I was not apologized to for her statement, instead I was told... "I apologize but I will not be able to approve your claim now or ever due to adjuster not being able to verify there is any damage period. And all other reasons. You may speak with my supervisor but I've already discussed this claim with him and he fully supports me. Thank you for choosing State Farm. Goodbye." I after that gave up my fight. But I didn't forget it. I don't know what my rights are but I fully intend to exercise them. And I intend to make sure the claim handler answer for the behavior directed towards me.

I got into a car accident on 10/31/18. It was really scary and bad. I have been in two when I was really young and had State Farm for years now. But this experience was like no other. I had pain and suffering but the most was from dealing with State Farm. I had been giving the runaround from step one on proving it wasn’t my fault, to getting a rental now getting a completely repaired vehicle. It was almost impossible to speak with the adjuster Patty **, they say anyone can help but they can’t cause it always went back to me having to speak to her. I had to call so many times in one week I was singing my claims number. My car has been in repair shop for 3 months when I was told once parts are in about two weeks. After about three weeks State Farm put me in a rental after they had prove it wasn’t my fault. The repair shop had to wait weeks for adjuster from State Farm to come out then weeks to order parts.

Then one time I had to call myself to see what was taking so long and found out that there were lack of communication between the two. There were a number of three time that a discover was made so that the repair shop can fix. Moving along I finally had to exchange numbers with the repair shop adjuster to stay loop more. She let me know when she contacted State Farm about damage that was discovered only to find out State Farm had no knowledge so I had to call the repair shop and link those two together. They said they only communicate through email but they discussed over phone. At that time I was told my rental was overextended then that’s when the repair shop offered a loaner. Long story short it is time for me to get my vehicle. I called every week to the repair shop to check status. It’s ready, do my walk through, the hood is still dented.

She let me know then that State Farm didn’t put this in appraisal, quote this is second appraisal due to new findings over that time frame. But no one had record of the hood damage been missed. Upset, she told me to contact State Farm. I sent pics and let them know. I just wanted my car and wanted to leave. I was so upset. I asked if I have to pay. She said as long as the car is drivable. I did but made it clear that I am not agreeing the condition. I left to drive around corner then realized that my car was not complete and should not have paid. They refund me. Talked to State Farm. They said they have paid now for the hood to be repaired, and sometimes things are overlooked. The damage was clear as daylight. Then she said that I should have gone through one of the repair shops they chose. Ok maybe but I always choose my own. Never had this problem. She blamed the repair shop. Said they had to send in any new discoveries.

I was told that State Farm did the initial appraisal or estimate, they missed it and then the repair shop did as well! Both companies did not communicate and do their jobs effectively. And now I’m trying to figure out their miscues. Both are blaming each other while my car is pushing now four months! Now I’m questioning did my appraisal have everything on there by my insurance company, was things missed on purpose to stay within a certain budget, now that being uncertainty to me. Overall this needs to be looked into to see how to prevent this. There needs to always be communication between the insurance company that’s there to help and ease the pain caused by an accident or whatever, the repair shop no matter who was chosen, if that’s any issue it should not be allowed to pick your own and the customer.

My experience was not good at all. Out of the 30 people I spoken with over my time frame of 3 months I only had two women that brought some type of relief. It was like no one was on the same page. That mean a lot to people when they get in accidents and need to rely on their insurance company to ease that stress. My advice is State Farm listen to your customers and just talk with them on how the process works. And do whatever it takes to make sure that they're taking care of and do whatever it takes to look into any issues or concerns they might have.

If you are with State Farm or thinking about getting insurance with them STOP and go with another company. Back in July I was backing out of a parking space in a private lot and the car beside me was parked way too close to my truck and I really didn't even see it and I turned the wheel a little too soon and scraped the car. When I got my next bill it went up $100 and I flipped out so I called them and they said, "If the claim is $1700 or more then your insurance goes up," so I had to decrease my tort to get my bill down. When I got my next bill it was $235 then the next month it went back up to $255 so I am cancelling this pathetic insurance and going with Liberty Mutual. DO not ever go with State Farm.

Our insurance agent died this summer, which is awful. We received letters that we had nothing to worry about and it was all taken care of by a new agent. Fast forward to today and I’m notified that we have a lapse in auto coverage and they are dropping us until we are in good standing with a third party agent. Naturally our home insurance rate also goes up since we have a bundle.

I have paperwork showing information from State Farm of confirmation of usual transactions, updated auto ID cards, home insurance statements, up to date premium information, auto draft of payments that we thought took place and budgeted as so, that I would love to upload with this post as proof, and yet because they dropped the ball somewhere, we are no longer covered, leaving us scrambling to find a new agent. It’s insane. I can’t believe this is acceptable to them. It absolutely makes no sense. We’ve been customers for over 20 years and are treated this way - just blows my mind. In fact, I’ve never written a complaint about any company or person before, that’s how bad this is!

After getting the runaround for 3 weeks today we heard that State Farm won't allow a claim to their other client's insurance because there was no visible damage to his car and he claims he never hit her. I guess it's ok now to drive your broken vehicle not knowing when it's going to break down on you and cause an accident. I'm really disappointed for how much money I spend every month on my policy, and now being treated as criminal. This is very wrong. Next thing you know my rate will be going up as well, which technically should be going down if you are a safe driver.

I had State Farm for about 4 years and then renters' insurance as well. My payments automatically came out of my account every month so it was always on time and never late. After almost 3 years I was backing out of the driveway and hit my husband’s truck. I paid the $500 deductible to get the vehicles fixed and after 11 months they tried to raise my insurance almost $80. When I called about the issue and asked why after almost a year they were trying to increase my premium they stated because they review policies every 6 month. As I proceeded to say that I have been 11 months so if they were going to raise it why didn’t they raise it in the first six months after the accident happened. Their response was they weren’t sure and there was nothing they could do. I decided to go with another auto insurance company but I did keep my renters' insurance through State Farm.

A few months ago our vehicles got broken into in our own driveway and a piece of property was stolen worth over $3000. I called State Farm to see what I had to do to make a claim or even how much was covered under our renters' insurance. I was told that we only had $1500 covered for jewelry and that was the max. Even though we took a loss we file the claim and a few months later I got a phone call and the lady said that she was giving me a “courtesy” call to let me know that they were dropping me and not renewing my policy because I made the claim when our vehicles got broken into. She said that I would receive a letter in the mail but she wanted to let me know ahead of time before I received the letter (I assumed the letter would be coming in the mail SOON).

After over a week of not receiving a letter I honestly didn’t think anything else about it. Almost 2 months later I look at my bank statement and see that I was still being charged for November and December. When I spoke with someone at the agency she stated that she was the one that I spoke with and that she never said that she was sending the letter out in a few days. She said it was sent out in December 28th and that my policy went through February. I just told them that I didn’t want anything to do with State Farm. She said that she could credit back up to 30 days.

Why have an insurance company that is going to penalize you or even drop you because of the first time you use the insurance (which is what it’s there for)? They had no problem taking my money on the same date every month like clockwork. But the second I claim a penny of that back, they’re like, "Screw you". I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STATE FARM TO MY WORST ENEMY. I would give it 0 stars if that was an option.

On October 4, 2018, while driving my 2015 Toyota Corolla, I was struck by a driver, whose car was insured by State Farm. The details of this accident can be found detailed in Georgia State Patrol crash case **. This report finds the driver of the car insured by State Farm completely at fault for the accident. My car was totaled, which by the way it took over two months for State Farm to come to this conclusion.

My car was my business. I do ride-share for Uber and Lyft. It is how I have made my living for the last three years. I have not made a dime since the accident. I provided proof of my income including tax information. The claim specialist assigned to my claim, stated that my proof of income, "looked convoluted to her". She has twice told me I should have used the rental (that I had to give back over a month ago) to do ride share?!? Each time I told her that, I can't use a car rented in this fashion to do ride share, it's against the guidelines and may be illegal.

On Oct. 4th 2018, I had a legitimate way to make a income and support myself and help my children with their needs. Due to the accident, I lost that and have been struggling to get back on my feet. Accidents happen, it's a fact of life. But it is why we pay for insurance. The driver who hit me, I'm sure paid for the protection of insurance, in case it was ever needed. The minimum for liability and property damage in the state of Georgia is 25/50/25. That driver didn't pay State Farm for coverage for them to not hold up their end on the claim. I received a letter dated Oct 5, 2018 from State Farm saying "We have received notice of your loss", and how they have "remarkable claim services."

More than once at the start of this process, I was told State Farm takes total liability for the accident. So why after not being able to travel to my mother's for Thanksgiving, which was over a month after the accident, do I have to explain why I can't travel home for the upcoming holidays? It took 'til Nov the 11th for State Farm to get back to me about my injuries and loss of income. At which time they offered to pay the ambulance and ER bill and basically ignored my loss of business and income. Also in taking their offer I release State Farm from any other bills or complications and difficulties I may face in the future due to the accident that happen on Oct 4th of this year.

My claim specialist even said, "you should be healed by now, it was just soft tissue injuries" After I stated that I was in an accident that resulted in my car being totaled. I was in that car so yes I have injuries, pain and suffering. There is a whole industry built off litigation. It is built off the back and forth of Giant Insurance Company and Lawyers. It is a vicious cycle that plays out in commercials and billboards nationwide. It is a cycle I find myself like others held captive to.

However, I had his license plate number but State Farm claimed that they could not locate him because it was a fake driver's plate??? I filed a search through DMV and was able to find the other driver and provided State Farm with the information. It was not a fake and I feel like they were too lazy to do the research.

Anyways, they finally sent a claim to the other party (according to the rep) but I still have not gotten any word back. It has been over 9 months. They have raised the monthly payment for my mother by a ton and even tried to kick my family out of our plan. I feel so wronged and unfair because my family must suffer because of the idiot that crashed into me. I thought my insurance was supposed to be on my side and try to help me, instead they try to scheme their way to steal their customers' money. Total scam of an insurance. State Farm offered us $3,400.00 for our car. I sent them verification of that sale.

They are totally unresponsive and the local agent is worthless. At first they said we would have to deal with the other driver's insurance company. After getting them straightened out on that, we had to pay to get the police report for them. They never initiate a call, we always have to call them. They say they will call back, but never do. They said they base their reimbursement on wholesale car value. I said we are not a dealer, we have to pay retail price. Finally after calling back today they upped their offer to $4,300.00. They said all the cars they are finding are less. I said, "How many miles are on the cars, what is their condition? Send me your comparisons." No response.

I pay over $12,000.00 a year in premiums to these guys. I have been a customer since the early '80s. I've had problems with them settling claims in the past. It seems they are always trying to do as little as possible and pay as little as they can get away with. I would not recommend them to anyone. I gave you one star because there in none lower.

We were involved in a automobile accident 11/14/2018. When a girl hit my wife at the passenger side back tire all of the way through the front door. The girl told my wife and the Police Officer she couldn’t see to drive because her windshield and driver side window was fogged up. (You can’t drive safely if you can’t see). After getting the police report it was ruled by the police officer as her fault. We called our agent and was told to file a claim on the other girl's insurance since it was her fault.

We filed a claim with State Farm's claim department and provided them a copy of the police report. We were told since both of us were State Farm customers they needed to talk to her as well. As of today 12/03/2018 the girl will not answer her phone or call claims back. We called State Farm claims to see if they would go ahead and proceed with the claim and get us a rental car and start the repairs on our car. It isn’t our fault the irresponsible girl will not call State Farm back. Our so called State Farm's claim team told us it was their policy to at least give that girl another 45 days to call them back and we would have to wait. If you're considering buying State Farm I would first think if I could go 2 months without a rental car or getting your car repaired. I know after this I will never have State Farm again.

State Farm has proven to be the worst insurance company around. You don't realize it until you actually have to deal with them for a claim. Their process was incredibly difficult. By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Undereducated to say the least. Gloria ** - the supervisor of the total loss department should be removed from her position. Her team is so unprofessional and not trained. They do not take the time to investigate your current claim status. They just give you some BS answer to get you off the phone. They sent my check and title that I have to sign over to them to another State Farm office 170 miles and expected me to go there and sign it.

I requested that the car seat need to be added to the claim. The claims adjuster told me that it didn't because the child wasn't in the seat. I told him, it doesn't matter, the manual says if the car seat was in a high impact accident it must be not ever used again and rendered useless. He said that they just put that on there as a CYA thing that you don't actually have to follow it. Absolutely terrible! If you want to go through a nightmare, choose State Farm! Not sure where I'll go to now but I will NEVER EVER hold a policy when them again. I hope this review helps someone in the future!

I live on a mountain, and in August of 2018 we had flash floods that caused a lot of damage to a lot of homes on the mountain. The way the water ran down the mountain was just incredible. Anyways, I have (2) French drain systems that run around my house and attempts to drain water away from the home. Unfortunately, the drains were installed poorly and was unable to drain the amount of water rushing down the mountain. The finished/carpeted basement received roughly 1/2" of water.

I figured I would call State Farm and just see if any help would be available. I am not good at making claims, and stubborn about just fixing it myself. Anyways, the claim person came out to see the damage and determine cause. Mind you, the carpet and water was already removed (within 12 hours). I have a tractor and dug out the drainage so the water would track properly. All this prior to his arrival.

State Farm denied the claim, which is fine. No big deal. I start putting my basement back together. Within a month of the request for assistance, I receive a letter from State Farm stating they need proof my basement has been repaired by a contractor by a certain date or they will drop my homeowner's insurance. I was amazed and called them immediately. "If you denied my claim, and do not wish to assist, all good, but you are going to drop me?"

When you get insurance, you hope to think your insurance company is there to support you. You are supposed to feel confident in your insurance company. State Farm has proved to me they are not concerned with helping those that need it. They will not support you when you are down and need it. I have served my country, the great United States of America. Americans need to help support each other. Help each other when pushed down and need it. As Americans, we are pretty good about that. I DO NOT have any confidence in State Farm. Their statement of "It's Covered" is "TRASH"! They do not have the American mentality and WILL not be there when you need it. Take care of yourself, your family and everyone around you. As Americans, we should be. I am trying to help take care of you. STAY AWAY FROM STATE FARM!

I filed my claim on September 14, 2018. My body shop sent the estimate four times to ASI who initially handles their claims now. They did nothing. The estimate was finally given to me in hopes that I, as the customer, would have better luck. Initially I did. I was told ASI had never been given the "assignment", but that they now had it. This was over a week ago. When I called on Nov. 19th I was told the adjuster would have it done by Wednesday the 21st. Then I was informed by the body shop on Tuesday that the adjuster was refusing to pay for a new quarter panel, but wanted dent work done instead. This would result in 18 to 24" of body filler, and many more hours of labor, which my body shop refused to accept as this is considered sub-par work for them. They cannot warranty such shoddy work. I emailed the adjuster and have yet to receive a response.

Today, Nov. 23, 2018 I called and the only manager available was in the claims dept. and she tried to tell me the dent could be repaired. If she's in claims, how is she qualified to assess the damage? She forwarded my complaint to the assigned adjuster and his boss. Needless to say I won't hear anything now before Monday. I was told Friday was a "holiday". It is Black Friday and this is NOT a nationally recognized holiday.

I am tired of fighting with these people. I have reached out to my local office for help, and on Monday I have a feeling I will be emailing their CEO as I don't see this going the way I need/want it to. A multi-billion dollar company is groveling over an $800.00 part. Unbelievable. I will be changing insurance plans as soon as I get this claim settled. No more State Farm for me and I would recommend any of you out there looking not to go with them either. They didn't used to be this way, but they have gone downhill tremendously in the last couple of years. I will also be reporting them to the insurance commissioner in my state.

My wife was struck by a State Farm insured driver 10/31/18. As of 11/19 SF has not settled but made us return the rental on 11/17. Their first offer was riddled with inaccurate assumptions about our vehicle. When they made an offer on 11/13 they said to put any objections in writing. I did. Claim stated on 11/15 that they had not reviewed our comments and when I asked where our vehicle was taken the agent did not know, and if it could be brought back to my town - the agent hung up on me. I am convinced that they have no interest in settling. I have had to file a complaint with the SC insurance. Just because they have a big advertising budget does not mean they are ethical or reliable.

I have had State Farm over 15 years until this week. My husband and I found out over the summer for almost a year we had been incorrectly charged because the way they input our information. When this was discovered out agency told us not to make a payment because we had so much in credit. After a few months of not needing to make a payment, and also being told our bill would be less, we received and outrageously expensive bill which included a $244 change of plan fee. When I called my agent to ask I was told the person I needed to speak with was on vacation but that I needed to pay the bill in order to not have a loss of insurance. I paid the bill and when the person came back I never got a call. I called her again, and she was unable to explain the fee to me and needed to call someone else.

Another week goes by and no word. I call and email and no one called me back, so then I called again and she still had no answer with her excuse being that no one call her back. My next bill came due and still no word, so when I called her... can you guess what she said? No one has called her back therefore she couldn't speak to the issue... We decided to find another insurance agent and we have 2 cars and renters for more $100 less per month then what we were paying for 1 car and renters with State Farm. I asked several times to be credited for the change of plan fee that no one seems to be able to explain, and she told me she couldn't help me with that and gave me a 1-800 number.

It's ridiculous that someone who is educated in insurance can't even speak to details of someone's policy. Why would I pay someone to be in charge of my insurance if I know more then them. No one seems willing to help me, and I feel like I'm being ignored and taken advantage of. The error started on State Farm's part and no one will take responsibility for it. I'm out a lot of much that I didn't have to begin with. I promise any other company you chose will be better and cheaper.

Day 2 of my policy I was notified that my rate actually is $50 more a month and I owe them money asap. My agent explained it's not his fault. Also because I had 2 vehicles break down on my last insurance, they decided to inform me on day 2 of my policy that they would not cover roadside assistance. I now had to call my insurance policy with USAA back and pay more since I left -- Thank you for charging me money State Farm. Wonder if it's called State Farm because they see people as farm animals.

They're the worst. No stars given from me. 2 month ago I got hit and run by a FedEx semi truck from behind. As I was pulling over off the ramp, the truck driver went straight. There's a few freeway choices to go from right after that offramp. I called State Farm and they told me, "Thank you for your $500 monthly payments, but we can't help you."

Yesterday I paid for a tow truck from them at 11:30 am. They messed up my phone number so when the tow truck driver called, they told him they didn't order a tow truck. I called them and told me they would get one on the way. They didn't. They said that since I canceled the truck driver didn't want the call. I told them they made the mistake (which they admitted to). Still waiting now at 4 pm, they finally get the idea to call a different tow truck company, which they were extremely busy. So they had a two hour wait, which I waited on, before the tow truck was about to get there, the shop which my car was in closed. No way to get my car now and I had paid the tow at 11:30 pm. They will definitely take my money promptly, but for them to help you even if you're paying for years, they sure take their time. Hopefully today they can get the car out, that's if the guy who owns the shop doesn't charge me extra for keeping the car an extra day.

My advice go with the cheapest insurance you can afford, get AAA because when you need help they all of a sudden make mistakes and forget you. But when it's time to pay they're on the dot and in a hurry to charge you. Insurance companies are scammers is but I figured that if I pay a little more it would mean I get more. Not the case, they are real nice and happy to take your money. When you need them, they all of a sudden become incompetent. They are???

This company has the worst claims experience ever. Their customer turned out of a business and ended up on the wrong side of the street and nearly caused a head on collision with the driver of my vehicle. He filed the claim with State Farm and it has been downhill since. They have assisted their customer in avoiding responsibility for the damages to my vehicle and refuse to do what they should as an insurance company. Their claim agents are horrible and the adjusters are worse. Then again if they treat their customers like crap (as evidenced by the reviews) how can we expect them to treat the people their customers hit any better.

This has been a nightmare dealing with this company. They do their absolute worst to take care of their clients. My car had a collision on both sides from the parking accident and they refused to acknowledge half of the damage taken. At the end of the day all they want to do is take away their customer's money and be the least helpful as possible. I will now be in the market for a new company and I truly hope they continue to lose loyal customers as myself. Unbelievable what happened. Extremely dissatisfied.

By far the worst insurance company ever we had an accident and the other people had state farm and we have USAA and the accident was not our fault and even though there was an eyewitness and video of the accident and the other guy got a citation for the accident State Farm refused to accept fault. After weeks of arguing with the rudest insurance agents I have ever dealt with they finally accepted fault. And now months after the accident are claiming they never accepted fault and are not wanting to pay the doctor's Bills that were obtained due to the accident. So I'm appalled at State Farm's agents and how they can be so disrespectful and rude to the people that their customers injured. Hope this reaches someone important. Thanks for reading. The State Farm claims adjuster told me that my BMW was considered a total loss. We went through the features of the car and what their source valued it at. She said that they said it was “good” across the board. Further, she said that the value of the car, when taxes are included, came to a certain amount. I was stunned. I disputed this, claiming that the car was worth AT LEAST $3000 more. She said that I would need to show this from comparables in my area, without specifying what my area encompassed. I mentioned to her that when I spoke to a State Farm claims agent previously, I was told that the value of the car if totaled would be negotiable. She said there was no negotiation unless I had comparables. I disputed that with the following points.

First, I mentioned that a three-level comparison hardly takes into account a car that is in superb condition. If my car was on the upper end of above average or good, then it deserves to be valued higher. She said no. (I found out later that State Farm uses a four-level comparison, but that would only put my car in the top 25%. I mentioned that I was a professor and that there is a huge difference between a student who earns a 96 [an A] and one who earns a 76 [a D+]!). Second, I noted that since only four other cars were included in the comparison, this would hardly take into account a car such as mine. On a bell curve, the top 1% gets thrown in with the top 25%. That is not a fair comparison. Those who take immense pride in car ownership are penalized severely.

Third, she specifically said that a car with paint chips no larger than a credit card would be considered in good condition. I was astonished. This underscores how broad a range “good” really is! Fourth, I mentioned that there are things that are unseen in a car that can enhance its value. I specifically mentioned that I get it detailed every year or every other year, that I change the oil every 5000 miles even though the owner’s manual says to change it every 15,000 miles, and that about 90% of the miles are highway miles. I keep it in essentially mint condition, with a few minor issues from time to time, but I don’t leave such things unfixed. She said that such things cannot be calculated into the value of a car. I mentioned that in that case I could have changed the oil every 30,000 miles, and she said that that WOULD be taken into consideration in terms of the wear and tear on the engine.

This means that an irresponsible owner is penalized (and rightfully so), but a responsible owner is not rewarded. It’s obviously not a just comparison to only consider such negatives on a car and not positives. The fact that such a range in the personal care of a car is not considered in its value tells me that a truly outstanding car will be seriously undervalued. Fifth, I mentioned that only the BMW dealership has maintained the car. This, too, is not taken into consideration. Sixth, I mentioned that I was the sole owner, that the car was made to order, and that I had planned on keeping it the rest of my life. Obviously, with such a history I would be taking special care of the vehicle. "Nope, doesn’t count," she said.

I have been a member of the BMW Car Club since 1988. The surest way to find the best comparables to my car would be in the Roundel, the club’s magazine. Yet even here it’s rare to find a car in the same condition as mine. I highlighted some cars for comparison, noting that although they were two years newer, they had far more miles or unfixed problems, were second - or third-owner vehicles, and STILL were selling for quite a bit more than mine. None of this mattered.

Later I spoke with another agent. She told me that the state of Texas fixed how much the insurance company could pay. I asked, “So, when I mention this on social media I should say that you said it was state law?” She paused, then replied, “Well, um, no, not exactly.” “So, there is some flexibility in how much I can get for my car, right—because, after all, the state has not dictated what the value should be?” She answered, “No, there is no flexibility.” Folks, if you take excellent care of your car, don’t insure it with State Farm. You’ll never get what it’s worth if it gets totaled. On the other hand, if you don’t give a rip what condition your car is in, you’re in luck! State Farm will probably give you top dollar.

We canceled our insurance early one month, we received a prorated amount $25 less than expected. As it turns out, they had deducted $25 from our prorated amount, claiming the reason behind it being that our "drive safe and save" discount fell off our account due to a failure on our part to register our car. We had registered our car multiple times through the Android app; however, we had found the app to be an absolute pain to use and a mess to register on. Often we would register the car, and the app would claim that we had successfully registered it. Other times, we were unable to register the car, and the app would throw a warning. We disagree with the company policy of back charging all the discount when a customer cancels their account, and we have found it very frustrating trying to get the correct amount back.
