I had filed for an accident claim when The person who had their policy banged my car in a parking lot. While exchanging insurance information, the lady accepted her fault but probably in the meantime, after me filing a claim. The state guys approached her and changed her statement. And they reached a 50% liability decision with no fault of mine. This is stupid! I also had their claims representative (by name GIGI) talk unprofessional language with me. She was saying that I was a liar and people like me go after insurance companies and make big money!

I have had full coverage auto insurance with the same State Farm insurance agent since pre-1999. I have never allowed my policy to lapse or have been late one time on a payment. I was due a payment in February 2008 but it appears I inadvertantly missed it because in March 2008 while traveling on business I realized I did not have my updated cards.

I called my agent and talked with Carolyne (secretary) and she said, Wait a minute and let me check to see if there is a problem. She then said, No problem I will mail you some cards from the office. I received the cards in the mail the following week showing coverage from Dec 07-May 2008.

Last week (4/16/08) when my car broke down at work and needed to be towed I called Carolyne again and asked if I had towing coverage. She said, Let me check your policy, yes you have coverage you can call one company and pay the bill or call this other place and they will direct bill us. She gave me the numbers and I called the second vendor.

I then proceeded to call her at least two other times to identify what the coverage would be if I sold my current car and bought another. I asked her about two other types of vehicles and she told me what the coverage would cost. During all these coversations she never once told me that they had not received my last payment so my coverage had lapsed. Now, since it's past April 2, 2008 I have to get a higher rate for the same coverage. I am in effect paying for her secretary being a ding-dong.

I now have to state I had a lapse in coverage and pay higher rates.

The defendant struck the rear right passenger side of my Infinity Q45 as I entered the 78 Freeway East from the San Marcos on ramp to the 78 Freeway East. This was November 15 /07. There were no witnesses.

State Farm Auto Insurance refused to pay the damages to my auto of $2846.00. I took the defendant to the Small Claims Court in Vista CA.The Judge awarded me the full amount of the damages. The judges wording:the preponderance of the evidence offered to the Court suggests that plaintiff's vehicle was damaged by the negligence of defendant driver. On 4/10/08 I got a Supreme Court notice: State Farm is appealing the Small Claims court's decision. They of course have engaged their their high powered lawyer. State Farm is noted for these bullying tactics. Any help would be appreciated.

We were at a dead stop, at a light in Grove City. The light had not turned, so we had not moved when a van that was probably going 35mph rammed us and pushed us into another van in front of us! Our car is totaled. We turned it in and they gave us a courtesy car from March 18th to Sat. 22nd. You would think they would let us keep the rental until they processed they claim. Today is April, we have no car, I've had to cancel some Dr. Appointments, they have not yet cleared getting our title from American General in Chillicothe, OH and of course they owe us about $1,800.00. I'm going to try and rent a car but living on a fixed income is not easy. I'm glad they are NOT my insurance co. I have the Hartford.

We can't even buy anything but junk with $1,800.00. We do not have good credit and haven't been able to get a loan for even $2,000.00, which put together will let us purchase another used van we saw that's for sale.

I was the victim of a rear-end collision. State Farm, my insurance company of nearly 30 years is not handling the property damage matter in a professional manner. They are offering me below market value for my vehicle. When I requested an on site inspection of my vehicle by State Farm, I was denied this basic right. Wendy Fields informed me that State Farm's goal was to keep rates as low as possible. Forget being a good neighbor or taking care of their clients. Forget that State Farm will subrogate against the insurance company of the party at fault. It's all about collecting my premiums and not paying anything out in the event of a loss.

Vehicle is considered totaled and State Farm is offering below market compensation for the loss.

I was going through a very bad divorse in the spring of 2007. I had a 2005 Kia and a 1996 Caravan that I had to transport my small children in because the Kia did not have room for all three carseats in the rear seat. I loaned my sister my Kia for what was going to be 2 weeks. My sister wanted to see her family in Detroit and then go to Ohio to see her mom. I had no problem letting her use the car. My sister called me one morning frantic from the detroit area saying that the car was missing. She made a police report because she was about 80 miles from me. I could not leave and go to Detroit.

The complaint was made to my insurance company as soon as I found out to make sure my soon to be ex did not take the car. I was contacted by a Miron guy, who was the investigator, who told me right off the bat that because I had low income and I was getting a divorce, they would not pay if the car was recovered. A month later miron called me and said the car was found and it was burned. Myron told me that he talked to witnesses who said I had the car burned. I told him I did not and my sister was just borrowing it. I was never told I could not loan it out. After a month the state police gave me a lie detector test which I had no problems with and passed. I was cleared legally of any wrong doing. State farm still refused, saying they had people (who they refused to tell me) say that I had the car stolen. I was interrogated for hours and so was my sister.

I am still making payments onto the car. My insurance was canceled, my name ruined and now I pay a higher rate. My children have to do without things and so do I because the finance company tacked on insurance to my payments. I can't afford it. I am going to lose every thing if they take money from my paychecks. My health is in bad shape and stress is making it worse.

We (my husband and I) moved from NC to Ohio last June. We have had insurance with State Farm for over 20 years. Initially we left the insurance out of NC while we were getting established. We had a checking acct still in place down there and it was automatic withdrawal every month. In October last year, we found out my husband had cancer and we have spent the majority of our time in hospitals ever since until last month. Today we went to get the insurance transferred to Ohio and discovered that it had been cancelled 2 months ago for nonpayment without anyone notifying us. Now State Farm apparently has a policy that flags you as high risk if you have had insurance cancelled for ANY reason and will not insure you. I understand that they can't provide insurance for free, however, how can they call all cancelled policies high risk automatically, and how can they cancel without notification?

We now will have to pay $20-30 more per month because we are considered high risk. We have also been driving on winter roads (our first real winter in 14 years) without insurance for 2 months without knowing it

My wife got rear-ended by a customer of State Farm. We took the car to the local dealership to have an estimate done. The estimate was $2700. I called SF and gave the information from the police report. They looked up the claim number and got me in contact with Tina. In a non-direct way she said the quote I had didn't matter, that they would send out an estimator. Well, the estimator didn't even look inside the trunk, as he didn't even get with my wife while she was at her work place. His estimate was $1670. I didn't even know about this until they just sent me a check for the $1670. I called them and said If I need to get two quotes I can, but the estimator's estimate can't even be accurate if he wasn't able to look in the car. A dealership's estimate would be more accurate as they have the tools necessary to give an actual estimate. SF assured me that if the repair was anymore than the check they cut, they would pay the difference.

I want a check for what damages have been caused to my car, which is their liability to pay for. I was told I could either cash the check or file the claim with my own insurance company. I'm sure this is happening with a lot of people. There has to be some way of stopping companies like this from crooked practices such as these.

I will file with my two quotes with my own insurance company, and they will deal with SF. But in the meanwhile I am out my deductible of $750.

On October 16, 2007, there was an accident where only the driven vehicle was damaged. The vehicle, a Mercedes SLK280, has been restored; however, State Farm is refusing to pay part of the claim--in particular, fixtures that are REQUIRED by Mercedes Benz to restore vehicles to original manufacturer specifications. I have documentation direct from Mercedes-Benz that these fixtures MUST be used, which have been submitted to State Farm. State Farm's position is that these fixture do not have to be used, and other body shops do not use them.

Who am I suppose to believe? The certified Mercedes-Benz collision shop or the insurance carrier trying to cheat me? Why is it that every other insurance carrier pays this (have documentation from the body shop) and not State Farm? I have heard so many complaints regarding State Farm's practices that it disgusts me. A law suit will be filed against State Farm.

My daughter was involved in a rear-end accident where she was stopped at a red light, and a women drove into the back of her car. Before the accident the brake lights worked - after they did not. The adjuster did not include that damage in the original estimate. Let me say it again - a REAR-END accident in which the adjuster didn't check the brake lights. State Farm will not pay since the part that malfunctioned is under the dash. They know they can get away with it because fighting over the repair would cost more than the part. Pure insurance thievery.

$454 for brake lights to function the same as before the accident. Negligent and possible criminal business practices of a legitimate insurance company.

On a Sunday, I needed to rent a car for a severe business emergency. The rental agent needed to verify insurance coverage with State Farm Insurance; the agent called 800 line and operator refused assistance. I found out about the lack of assistance, then called back and requested to speak to the highest management person available. I spoke with a Tonya Warren and explained to her that this was a business emergency. She states that the individual agent, Stowe Parker, has chosen not to pay for the service of verification via nationwide number, but if this were a case of an accident, she could verify coverage for rental. Any other emergency did not matter. I pleaded with Ms. Warren to make an exception, and make a sound management decision to bend a rule in order to keep a customer of 15 plus years. She refused and gave no alternative to assist. State Farm is obviously all about the money, not the customer. This is the epitome of poor customer service.

On Nov 26, 2007 I was rear ended on the 210 freeway by a State Farm insured driver. The guy said he fell asleep, and he hit me going about 40mph. I had to call State Farm repeatly over the next week to get a claim number, and they kept saying they couldn't reach their insured by phone. I asked how I was supposed to go to the doctor for my neck and have my car repaired. The agent told me to use my own insurance until they could contact their insured. I did use my own insurance for the medical treatment, I'm still in treatment. The agent finally sent me a letter 12-6-2007 with the claim information and where to take the car to be repaired. They also rented a vehicle for me. This last Wednesday, 12-12-2007 the State Farm agent called me to say since there was no damage to their insured's truck, I could not have been injured. His license place was imprinted, in mirror image, on my bumper. I told the agent he could have a copy of the x-rays of my neck, he actually laughed and hung up the phone. I have no idea where to go from here. Do I hire an Attorney? It's this kind business handling that has our insurance cost rising every year, in my opinion. All I want is to be put back as close as possible to where I was before I was read ended.

For over a week my neck was stiff and I cried for no reason at all, I was very depressed. I'm still in treatment 3 times a week and feel much better, not perfect, but I'm getting there. I don't know if my car insurance will go up because my insurance is paying the doctor. I didn't cause the accident and shouldn't be harrassed by State Farm. The call from the State Farm agent stiffened my neck right back up from stress.

We decided to purchase a new E-250 ford econoline cargo van, no passenger seats, for my husband's work. being new, we needed full coverage,so State Farm gave us a price of $480.00 every 6 months. We paid it, received a declaration page, and a week later we got another bill for $150.00. They are saying they changed the class to a personal vehicle, when it is strictly a commercial vehicle and was classed as a commercial vehicle on the declaration page. There was no notice of a change in policy--just another bill. They are saying also it is the body style, that is why they upped the policy. They took pictures of the vehicle on the outside but never bothered to open the back doors to take pictures in the inside; if they were to do that, they would have seen it is a work vehicle, cage and all. I have been insured with State Farm for many years, I think it started in the 80's. I not only have car insurance with them, I also have homeowner's and life insurance. I was in a car accident on May 5, 2005. I had stopped for traffic so that I could turn into my place of business. As I was sitting there waiting for traffic to clear, I was hit from the back. The lady hit the car behind me and made that car hit me, she didn't have any insurance so that meant that I had to file a uninsured motorist claim with my own insurance company who is State Farm. I carry 100,000/300,000 coverage. I pay for this everytime I pay my insurance. I had $10,000 in medical bills and was told that I will have this problem the rest of my life. I have had some back problems and minor neck issues, and they put all of what happen to me on my past medical history. They said that I have degenerative disc disease, which I do, but what does that have to do with someone hitting me from behind causing me whiplash and additional back problems?

I went to court and had a juror trial, in which they don't care about a person health, they're just there because they had to be. I'm 50 years old with a 13 year old son that I can't do the thing that I use to do with him. Also I have 19 grandchildren that I can't play with. The juror only awarded me $9400.00 and that wasn't all of my medical bills, and they wanted $5,000 of that back, because they paid part of my treatment under my medical pay that I also, as the individual, pay for in my premium. State Farm shouldn't treat people the way they did me - when you are paying your premium and get hurt, no fault of your own, and they won't even compensate you with your own money. It seems they would rather pay an attorney than to pay their customers.

On May 15, 2007, I started executing the sale of my motorcycle which was covered by State Farm. Since it is not against the law to accept personal checks, I did so with proof of a drivers license and phone contacts. I told the couple that when the check cleared and the funds were in my account, I would forward the title to them.

I allowed the son (his mother was supposedly buying him the motorcycle as a graduation present)to take the bike home and see how he liked it, sort of a test drive like any car lot would do. Since I was getting married in July and given the fact that I want to trust people and badly wanted to trust this couple, I was very eager to sell the motorcycle. The following day, I was informed by the bank that the check was in fact stolen and the account was closed.

I immediately contacted State Farm and informed them what had happened and then the police department. To make a long story short, State Farm denied the claim and told me that there had been a revision to my policy and that they no longer cover fraud. Funny thing is, my coverage was reduced yet my premiums stayed the same.

I hired a lawyer who shot off a couple letters to State Farm and State Farm, in turn, had me give a sworn statement. The sworn statement turned out to be merely a cherade because they still denied the claim.

I am still making monthly payments to the financial institution for the motorcycle and I am still making monthly payments to State Farm for insuring the motorcycle, yet I don't have the motorcycle and I will never see the motorcycle again.

A Sate Farm insurance client turned the wrong way down the highway and totaled my son's car. My son and a passenger were transported to the hospital for injuries. This person was cited for being 100% at fault as witnessed and documented to police. I contacted my own insurance company to make a report and let them know the other person's insurance info. Within 3 days my own insurance had processed the entire incident and was prepared with a settlement, in case State Farm did not. I contacted State Farm every week for 3 weeks to find out what was being done to process the claim. Every time they stated that their client was not in contact with them and that no claims had been made. They told me that it was my obligation to process this claim through my own insurance company and that I was dragging my feet! After 4 weeks they still have not processed the insurance claim and are telling my insurance that we have no claim with which to reimburse for medical, towing, car rental or injury costs.

Loss of 1 vehicle required a rental vehicle until the settlement could be completed and a replacement vehicle purchased. State Farm has refused to pay for the rental vehicle due to the "extended length of time" that we have had it (just over 2 weeks)! My own insurance does not cover rental costs in this type of accident, where the other party has been determined to be 100% at fault; it should be paid from the other party's insurance. There has been no settlement of the $3100 medical bills or the $5100 value of my son's car, nor any of the other small charges that go along with a wrecked vehicle. My own insurance is now pursuing this claim, but I am out my deductible ($500), rental car ($300 and growing), plus the towing and storage of my son's totaled car ($200). Funds to cover any future medical bills that may occur from my son or his passenger are in question.

They could not verify our home address,

Please note that the same insurance company with the same broker covers the home and both cars, yet the could not verify the home address, It is also interesting to note that the Broker's Office is less than 1/2 mile away- walking distance.

Something is really wrong in the insurance industry. When one insured driver strikes another and totally disables their car you would think that they would AT LEAST offer you a rental.

The victim should not be treated like the insurer's client with nit picky details of an existing policy. I am a third party with the expectation of restoration back to pre-existing conditions, financial and health. I think the correct term to use here is due diligence on the part of the at fault party(s). It is as if they dare you to take legal action. Maybe it is because most people can not afford to, I do not know, but surely it is the best monetary result for them. Where are our lawmakers at on helping consumers who are victims? This is serious business.

My wreck was last week, I am still feeling pains, my brand new truck is trashed from being struck by a large truck. All State Farm adjuster said so far was we are checking for recalls on truck brakes to assign liability Well, I can assure them their client and it's parties are at 100% fault, and I have 0% fault, so this is WRONG for State Farm to do. My Allstate agent concurs. If State Farm wants to bill or sue Ford, let them, it's not my concern. In the meanwhile, they are seemingly unrestrained and unbound to cause financial pain to their client's victims.

This claim can't come close to the years of payments I have made to this company. I dropped them and now have a new company, better coverage, for less expensive premiums.

I've had State Farm since I started driving (7 years). I have my own policy which is totally separate from anyone else in my house hold. I've never been late paying a bill etc. My little brother got into and accident and got a ticket recently. So they sent me a letter saying they are canceling MY insurance due to my brother's driving records. I have nothing to do with his driving or his policy. And this letter was sent to me 4 days before my next payment is due. How convenient! I will never recommend State Farm. Now I'm stuck shopping around for insurances and forking up the money for a down payment etc. with other insurers.

I've been to several doctors' appointments and I've been on medication which has caused me to be unable to concentrate at work or my school. I can't pay my rent and other bills because I’ve been unable to work the hours I need to due to my injuries. Car damage $3,000.00. Personal damage - $4,000.00.

I was stopped on 11/01/06 by a state trooper who took a picture of my plate as i passed him. The plate can back to him as suspended. I was issued two tickets and my car was towed. He explained that there had been a lapse in my car insurance and as a result both lisence and registation were suspended. This took affect on 9/30/05 so i have been driving for almost a year without plates or license. I call my present insurance company and he looked to see the date that his policy took effect and when he cancelled the state farm policy.

From what i gather someone entered the wrong date for cancellation into the DMV system so it appeared i had a lapse. State farm says it was not there fault , my new company says it is not their fault in the mean time i have impound charges of $200 and other expences that neither company says is their responsiblity. State farm did reinstate me for the 92 day lapse which seems strange so that my car and lisence could be returned. I had to pay them for the 92 days of insurance.I did nothing wrong and paid both companies honestly but i am stuck with these bill that nobody seems to what to take responsiblity for.

I went five days without a car and seven days without a lisence. I paid $200 to get my car back. $200 for the back insurance and $20 to mail them the check.

After 27 years of faithfully sending my premium payments to State Farm and having extremely minimal claims during that time, we found out about ourGood Neighbor's true colors. Our 18-year-old son lost his license for 90 days due to a point suspension for 8 points in a 2 year period. The three violations were minor traffic offenses and there were no accidents. When he got his license back, we fully expected that his auto insurance rates would go up significantly as a result of the suspension.

What we didn't expect was the cancellation notice we received from State Farm, telling us that unless we signed an endorsement excluding our son from all five of our vehicle policies as well as our umbrella liability policy, they would cancel us in 30 days. I was sure there had to be a mistake and called my agent immediately. He proceeded to tell me that State Farm only has a preferred company in Colorado and that they don't insure bad apples. I was shocked to learn that a couple of minor traffic violations made my son a bad apple despite the fact that he has never had an insurance claim of any kind. And despite our 27 year history and relationship with State Farm, they were about to cancel us, lock, stock and barrel.

The moral of the story is that State Farm is a great company as long as you never have a problem. But if you are in Colorado and have teenage drivers, I suggest you think twice before you give your premium dollars to State Farm. In our case, all's well that ends well and we ended up with American Family. American Family has a standard as well as a preferred company in Colorado. They put our son and his car in the standard company and the rest of us in the preferred company, however, our son is not excluded from driving any of our other vehicles. They also wrote liability limits of $500,000 / $1,000,000 which allowed us to get rid of the umbrella liability we had with State Farm. And they will never require us to sign a driver exclusion endorsement on any licensed driver in our household. And the best part of all, the rates on all of our vehicles except for our son's are better than what we were paying to State Farm!

On June 18th 06, I was involved in an accident with my two year old daughter. We were at a complete stop turning onto the street where we reside, when a Cadillac Suv struck us at an overwhelming speed of 65mph. The gentleman who hit us confessed to the accident and said, By the time he saw me stopped with my blinker on it was too late, he could not avoid hitting us. I had to be cut from the car and had neck, back, and head injuries. My daughter thank goodness did not have a scatch on her.

State Farm insurance company was horrible to me. I called and spoke with there claims department regarding a rental. I informed them that the car companies all require a credit card, which we did not have, I wanted them to pay the deposit for the rental. They said, They would not do that, and I was lucky they cut me a check in the first place. At this point I was just in tears because our car had been totally destroyed and I had no way to transport my family anywhere together because our other vehicle was my husbands work truck.

They also insisted right after the accident I give them a statement of what happened. When my husband told them I did not remember they insisted that I call. I did call and spoke with someone they asked what happened, I offered to read the narritive from the accident report and she rudely replied, I can read the narritive myself, I want you to tell me what happened. Clearly on the police report it says driver was unconscious and had to be removed from the vehicle. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. These so called Good Neighbors never once asked me, how my two year old was doing. They offered not one ounce of helpful information regarding my claim and I will be interested to see what sort of settlement they find will be relevent.

My insuance is paying for my damage, minus my deductible. I called State Farm to file a claim with them for the deductible, the excess rental car fees that my policy does not cover and to talk about diminised value since my vehicle will never be worth what it was before the fire. Plus, I want to trade it in since I cannot be certain it's systems have not been weakened/damaged by exposure to the extreme heat.

So much for my “Good Neighbor”.

After paying my car insurance faithfully for 20 years, keeping a record free of accidents and moving violations, it finally happened. My car was stolen right out of my driveway.

My “Good Neighbor” insurance company has delayed settling with me for almost 90 days - well over the legal limit. They say they can’t understand how a thief can steal a car without a key???? (direct quote). They have investigated me, pulled credit reports, bank statements called my employer and treated me more as a criminal than a s a policy paying victim.

I need my car for work and this has been such a hardship. I have just had to hire my true "good neighbor", a lawyer , to try to help me. I feel like I am being victimized twice.

During this time I repeatedly called my agent about my auto and he kept referring me to the claim's dept. The only information I could get from the claim's dept was that there was a lag from Jan 9th to 25th when nothing was done (communication problems between State Farm and the repair shop).

On 1/15/06 I asked Gordon, in claims, to check the status of my repairs and get back to me. I called him two weeks later when he didn't return my call. When I asked him why he didn't return my call he said "What do you want me to say?"

On 12/18/05 my wife and I were passengers in a vehicle that was struck from behind by a drunk driver. Our vehicle was thrown into a ditch full of water and overturned twice. We did not receive help for more than 30 minutes.

My wife and I sustained substantial injuries and spent three days in the hospital. We were instructed to follow up with doctors but we could not afford to do this because we did not have health insurance and the doctors we spoke to wanted payment in advance.

I now have approximately $14,000 in medical bills and $1050 in lost wages. My wife's medical bills were in excess of $6000, with lost wages of around $800. These amounts would be considerably more, but we could not afford the follow up care prescribed.

We have provided everything State Farm has asked for and on March 6th we were offered a settlement of $20,000 for me and $10,000 for my wife. This is a joke as it almost does not cover the actual money we have lost. Pain and suffering does not seem to be a factor here.

They said that my exhaust pipe was already rusted and the impact from the accident probably caused a hole in the weakest point in the rusted pipe. Since there was no physical evidence that the pipe was bent and they claim the pipe didn't have much life left in it, they were not going to pay for the damages.

My insurance company told me that the car was a total lost about $4000. I still haven't heard from State Farm.

I know that all they have to pay is the market value of car at the time of accident, but that is a far cry of what I owe. I have paid well over $9000 in payments, plus all the extra warranty stuff. After all of this, I'm left without a car and still have two years to pay it off.

The day before Thanksgiving 2005 I was involved in a motorcycle/car accident. The driver of the car, to my right, did not see me or signal and pulled into my lane. In effort to escape a collision I moved to my left, hit the curb of the median and lost control of my motorcycle. I was unconcious for about ten minutes and the left side of my motorcycle was cosmetically damaged (I had had it less than two months).

The police filled out a report and the driver admitted fault. There was also a witness on the report.

The local Suzuki shop estimated $2000 for repairs. I filed a claim with State Farm and was assigned to Stephanie. The bike shop has been calling me several times a week asking me what they want me to do about the repairs. Stepanie, up until today 1/05/06, has told me she was waiting to speak to the eye-witness.

After discussion with the eye witness, State Farm said they would only pay 70%. The eye-witness, who informed her he was a former motorcycle rider, said that at 35mph I COULD have moved out of the way or braked. So according to Stephanie, the fact that their driver not only came into a lane already occupied by me, was negligent in traffic observance and signalling her intentions to other drivers, that I am partially at fault because another driver, not involved, saw a method of avoidance.

In Nov, '05 I was involved in an accident. The gentleman that was responsible for the collision had State Farm insurance and that is where the trouble started.

I was honest and claimed no injures and didn’t even request a rental car (I assume both of these were a mistake), while my truck was undergoing its repairs but State Farm decided to low ball the value of my '89 Chevy. They’ve estimated the value of my truck to only be worth $2,200 (I've done repairs of more that $3,400 over the past 14 months) and they got that estimate from a single ad. Of course this is about $2,900 under the repair costs (by the way, they want me to pay them $600 for the scrap charge, so actually, I would only be getting $1,600 for my truck if I buy it back).

I’ve been able to find some 20 plus comparable trucks selling for $5,500 to $8,500 in the Seattle area. Anyway I’m disputing State Farms offer but it’s like pulling teeth.
