Did solve the problem. Took longer than I expected but in the long run I was happy with the outcome. The price to renew was higher than what I expected. When I first started coverage I was satisfied and felt I got a good rate for both my car and house. I will shop before the next time I renew to make sure I am getting the best rate possible. I know prices go up on all companies but I will shop some other companies before I renew to make sure I am getting the best value for my money. Liberty Mutual did help last time. I had a problem and the response was an acceptable amount of time to take care of the problem and did receive money back.

We had a car that was totaled and Liberty Mutual was very responsive. They worked with us to get us the check for the car so that we could buy another car ASAP. I think that Liberty Mutual offers many coverage options. They are able to explain what they have to offer and help you find the right options for you. We have all of our insurance coverage through Liberty Mutual, auto, home and an umbrella policy because we have a pool and wanted to be sure we had the best coverage. We have three children and they are all of driving age. Liberty Mutual helped us get the right coverage for them without breaking the bank. They are available to answer questions 24/7 and we have had very good experiences when we have needed help or advice.

It wasn't the most pleasant experience, but it was decent enough when I compare it to horror stories where companies do all they can to delay or not pay up. This claim took a while, but it was decent enough. It's a company with decent packages. I'm just not fully aware of all of them. My packages is nice. It covers me well enough to get the job done if I in fact need to make a claim of any kind. If you look at quote for car insurance for Liberty Mutual and you live in a place like Detroit, the rates can be a bit pricey and unaffordable to be frank. If their prices did not rise for those living in the city I could give a better review, but NO.
The customer service is serviceable, which is all you can ask for, I would like to point out that overuse of computers or machines in this line of business does not seem appropriate. Customers are calling and may be panicked, and need to speak to people that understand the situation and can approach with humanity and understanding.

Great customer service and support. We have been with Liberty Mutual for about 10 years. I was hit from behind in an accident and the insurance paid right away for my injuries. Eventually the other person's insurance had to pay cause I wasn't at fault. I was hit from behind by someone who was driving too fast. They have always been really nice.

Car was fixed quickly but it was confusing getting the claim processed. I wasn't sure how much I needed to pay who, but it worked out in the end. Coverage seemed good - it's hard to tell the differences with all the talk of deductible and claims and all the numbers, but what I needed was covered. I honestly find the whole process of shopping for insurance highly confusing. It's good peace of mind having insurance that isn't wildly expensive, which is what this was. It wasn't anything life-changing or dramatic, nothing exciting - just mostly affordable car insurance. I didn't have to use them often, but they were mostly good. I remember being surprised in a good way that my agent would email me instead of making me sit through all the automated phone systems, which was a nice touch for someone as busy as I was.

Easy to navigate using the app. I would recommend to a friend, different, or family member. My rep was very efficient and helpful. Guaranteed repairs are really helpful. I think the coverage is good... there is better car replacement. New car replacement. The prices are reasonable too. If you pay less for really good coverage and can keep your local agent and still paying a reasonable price you are very fortunate because so many companies just have call center reps and I have a real local agent. That makes a huge difference. The reps in the call center try very hard but they don't seem to know what they are doing and I get different information every time I call. It is confusing and frustrating.

The one claim I had was handled quickly. I called my agent, explained what happened, and they took care of everything else. The other person was happy because they had her adjustment and payment within two weeks. They had a wide range of option on coverage and I was able to get the liability insurance at a rate that didn't hurt my single parent budget. I felt so good knowing that even though I was known to have a few mishaps they still kept me out of trouble with the other guys by getting there and handling the claim quickly. I usually hate dealing with people but with them it only took one call and they took care of the rest and I was able to get on with my busy schedule.

They took care of us and reimbursed us appropriately. We were able to contact people from Liberty Mutual 24/7. We did not have to do much on our end to rectify the claim. We had better car replacement included in our coverage. Our car was totaled and our reimbursement was enough to buy a decent used car. It saved us a few thousand dollars. Again we were appropriately reimbursed. I believe we saved thousands versus going with a different company who would have nickeled and dimed us and caused great anxiety. Very pleasant staff. Always courteous and had concern for us as a person. Did not feel anxious about calling. Took some of the headache out of the matter.

About average compared to others. They will charge you more than they should so make sure to ask for all the discounts and make sure you get quotes from other insurances first. I recommend Amica if you qualify. Liberty Mutual provides good coverage especially with the 1 year newer 15,000 miles less on new vehicle if in an accident. But will come at a price. Like I said before, the insurance is worth it if you can afford it. They offer incentives better than other insurance companies. Will come at a price though. I have had customer service that was great but have also had customer service that was poor. One last was very grumpy and was trying to rush me.

My neighbor was rear ended on Sept. 27th by someone who also has Liberty Mutual. There was a police report and they immediately notified Liberty about the accident. For six weeks they called Liberty but were continuously put off, did not get phone calls returned and Liberty dropped their claims 4 TIMES without reason.
My neighbors are law abiding, hard working, legal US residents from Ecuador who have lived here for many years. Frustrated they told me of their difficulty. Having no accent, I called Liberty on Nov 16th for them to find out what was going on. Within 10 minutes of a very firm but polite exchange with a Liberty representative, my neighbors were given their appointment for the estimate, and the process was put in motion. I was furious that this appeared to be racial discrimination because of my friend's obvious accent. Seeing the multiple bad reviews and similar complaints, this company appears to be just negligent and unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend Liberty Mutual to ANYONE!

I have not had to file any claims with Liberty Mutual although I am sure that it would be easy, quick and efficiently done. Coverage is very affordable and easy to obtain. There are various options available for anyone and any budget. One would be happy with Liberty Mutual. It has provided me with coverage that I need at a very reasonable price. I would gladly recommend Liberty Mutual to others. I plan to stay with them for as long as possible. I am unable to rate customer service department at this time as I have not needed to talk to them yet. I have faith that I will have a good experience when and if I do.

Gets the job done but sometimes hard to get a hold of an person to get more information about your claim. It's local but has to report to headquarters which takes extra time in the process. Overall good coverage seems to cover all my personal needs and the needs of my kids. Also very easy to add on or switch if the needs will occur. Getting a good value of coverage for what I pay. Also nice family discount and great discounts for paying electronically which really can add up. Local agent who has to contact main office which a lot of times takes extra time to get the claims going because of the middle agent which somehow should be eliminated.

Was hit by a drunk driver in August. Liberty Mutual has had all the information they asked for and now has stopped communicating with this completely. We send emails and phone with no response at all. They owe me my deductible, medical costs, and pain and suffering. And believe me I am suffering. If this goes on much further I will have to get a lawyer and then it's gonna cost them a hell of a lot more. I'm kind of leaning towards that right now anyway. I'm filing a complaint with the insurance commission. I can't believe I have to do that just to get Liberty Mutual to return my phone calls.

I have had Liberty Mutual for my auto insurance since I was 21 years old (30 years now). I always believed they would have my best interests at hand. Wow, was I wrong. I have never had a parking ticket, speeding ticket, never been pulled over. Perfect driving record. I had one situation in April 2014 where my Nissan Murano sunroof exploded while driving up Rt. 7 toward Kent, Connecticut. (Yes, exploded, search the internet, it's been happening to all types of vehicles with sunroofs). I remember dealing with Liberty Mutual as to coverage for the glass, which was a $500 deductible, which I paid, but the remaining balance was like pulling teeth to get them to pay Nissan.
They did not want to pay the remaining balance and were trying to negotiate the price down with Nissan, Nissan didn't want to budge and looked to me to pay the additional monies on top of the $500 that I already paid. In the end, Liberty Mutual came up with very little money. This was the first experience that put a bad taste in my mouth. I remember that day telling myself, I am going to let Liberty Mutual know how I felt about this experience and then leave Liberty Mutual for good. Never did. Now, fast forward to today. A friend of mine asked for who I used for auto insurance. I told him I have had Liberty Mutual for 30 years.
My friend came back to me to tell me that the quote he was given by Liberty Mutual was ridiculously high and after researching found that Liberty Mutual had the 2nd highest rates out there. He called me back to tell me he saved $2,000 going with Allstate and I should give them a call. I called Allstate and gave them a copy of my current Liberty Mutual policy so they could see the coverage I wanted on my 2015 Nissan Rogue and a 16 year old Kia Spectra. The Allstate rep said she was shocked at what I was paying all this time that she even showed another Allstate colleague of hers. My policy was $2,700 a year at Liberty Mutual. Allstate quoted me $1,000 a year, with an upped property damage coverage. I just filled out the paperwork today for Allstate. Liberty Mutual goodbye forever!

My wife and I were hit from behind while stopped behind an unloading school bus. The driver was insured by Liberty Mutual. She was ticketed for inattentive driving. We were both sore and shaken up, but did not feel we required medical treatment. The damage was minor, but the jolt from the accident was not minor. My neck was sore and felt better after the 2nd day. The pain returned from time to time, and finally became a daily pain. I sought treatment from a chiropractor, and after numerous treatments, the pain has stopped.
The claim was submitted to Liberty Mutual, but was denied. They were rude, and very unresponsive when I left messages. They said the damage was not enough to warrant a claim, and I waited too long to get medical treatment. I waited because I am 65 years old, and I knew that recovery would take time, but when the pain got worse instead of better, I sought treatment. I have filed a complaint with our state's commissioner of Wisconsin and I am awaiting those results. I am only giving one star because that is the minimum.

I had someone hit and run me and the police hasn't been able to track down the person and the person hasn't appeared in court as ordered, so I contacted Liberty Mutual to see what I need to do in the event I can't get the other party to pay. I got an appraisal of the damage so I knew what I was dealing with going forward. The damage was minimal - $400 - my deductible is $500. It is all out of my pocket, Liberty Mutual is not paying one single cent. However, they go and report to an Auto Claim reporting agency/company that I put in a claim against my insurance. There was no payout by Liberty Mutual, but now there is a mark on my record that I have put in an insurance claim in the last 3 years and it is causing insurance quotes from other companies to be ridiculous.
I am in my sixties and have never had an accident in my life, and this one was a hit and run caused by another party, and I'm being penalized. When I first contacted Liberty Mutual about this hit and run, I asked if this would cause any problems with future insurance increases if I didn't end up putting in for a claim paid out by them, and they ASSURED me that it would not cause any increases. Now they are telling me I have to put in a dispute with the Auto Claim Reporting Agency to get the erroneous claim information - that they reported - removed from my driving history. The other insurance companies I have contacted for quotes tell me it is up to Liberty Mutual to remove this supposed claim from the records of the agencies they reported it to.
The agency they report to is LexusNexus and when you try to call them, you can't get a person, it's all voice prompts. It repeatedly asks for the same information over and over, even after it confirms the information that you have already told the prompts. When you go online to research LexusNexus, there are bad reviews about not being able to get a person to talk to, erroneous information in their records, and how the agency is such a scam. My interaction with Liberty Mutual from the beginning has been incredibly inconsistent with what they tell you and what they actually do. It's always an excuse with them. They apologize for someone giving you wrong information, and then turn around and screw you.

I cancelled my policy on my motorcycle due to I am selling it. When I got the policy I was told they charge more in the summer months as usage is greater. Now that I cancel they send me a bill stating their payments were wrong and they weren't charging me enough and now I owe them $163. I never even filed a claim with them. When I try to call them and dispute it I got a different story from every single person I talked to. The only thing that stayed the same was I owe them money. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

If I could give them a negative number, I would! My son was hit by a young driver insured with Liberty Mutual. It was the other drivers fault (he admitted it and was ticketed for the accident). That was one week ago. I called them immediately after the accident to file the claim. I have not received any return phone calls since. The only correspondence is a letter I received stating that they will not pay for storage after one week from the accident. The towing/storage company, will not release my vehicle until I pay for the original towing and storage. They will not authorize a rental and are totally impossible to work with.

Liberty Mutual informed my Motor Vehicle Administration that I had been operating 3 vehicles without insurance for 5 months (on October 27th, 2016) after I had obtained other insurance. Liberty Mutual kept increasing my price for Auto and Home Owners Insurance. My Prudential Casualty Insurance was sold to Liberty Mutual in 2006. Starting in 2010, Liberty Mutual starting drastically increasing my insurance policies even though I had no auto accidents, no tickets or points on my driver's license, and no homeowner claims. My Liberty Mutual homeowners policy for 2016-2017 jumped $500.00, and my Liberty Mutual auto policy jumped $200.00.
I had previously read the September 2015 Consumer Reports article on The Truth About Car Insurance (3 times), and USAA and State Farm were rated very high. I reached out to my local State Farm agent, and was provided with a quote for a Million Dollar Blanket Policy on my home and automobiles. The cost was $400.00 less than my Liberty Mutual Insurance quote that had one third the coverage of the State Farm quote. I purchased the State Farm insurance for my home and automobiles that was effective June 1, 2016. I then telephoned Liberty Mutual June 4th, 2016 to cancel my policies. I told Liberty Mutual that I had obtained far greater insurance coverage for less money.
I was pulled over by Maryland State Police November 2nd, 2016 and asked for my driver's license and registration. I had done nothing wrong. The officer then told me he was taking the license plates off of my car for an insurance violation, and that I had 24 hours to remove my car from the side of the road. His car had a license plate scanner, and that is why he had stopped me (my tag showed there was an insurance violation with the Motor Vehicle Administration). I displayed my current State Farm insurance card, but he still took my tags. I had to have my car towed home (I was less than 4 miles away), and I telephoned the Motor Vehicle Administration the next morning.
The MVA told me that Liberty Mutual had reported to them that I was operating 3 vehicles with no insurance, and that the MVA had a case against me. I told the representative that I was insured with State Farm, and that I had canceled Liberty Mutual 5 months previously. She put me on hold for 10 minutes, and came back saying that the MVA was dropping the case against me as I was indeed covered with State Farm. I asked the MVA Representative why they did not check my account for insurance when they got the notice? She had no answer. I then asked for a letter stating that the MVA had made a mistake, and I was told they do not mail letters of that sort. I then went to the MVA where I was charged $20.00 for new tags (for their mistake).
In closing, Liberty Mutual had no right to inform the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration that I had been operating 3 vehicle for 5 months without insurance after I had canceled my policies with them.

I was rear ended on the freeway in October of 2015 by a texter that was an uninsured driver. The body damage to my truck was a little over $1800, and mechanical damage was $600; that is a little over $2400. Liberty Mutual won't pay. It is now October, of 2016, a year since I had been rear ended on the freeway, and Liberty Mutual is trying to pay me a check for $321.71; and that is unacceptable! I have four vehicles insured, a boat, jet ski, and homeowners insurance through Liberty Mutual; or I did with Liberty Mutual as of July of 2016. Their loss for being a fraudulent company, not standing up for their customers. Also, in July of 2016, Liberty Mutual had been turned over to the Attorney General of Washington State and the insurance commissioners. I was informed that my current premiums were base on "the old rating system," and that they would be happy to quote me a new premium using the "new rating system," which they assured me would be very competitive with my new insurance company. If I could give a negative rating, I would. I was hit by a Liberty Mutual customer who ran a red light. Once I was assigned a claims representative, it was impossible to get her on the phone, and I couldn't even leave a message because her voicemail was full...? Obviously not very professional. At some point after about a month of waiting around and nothing happening, they put a new person in charge of my claim without notifying me. Once I finally figured out who I was supposed to be talking to, I couldn't get him on the phone either.
I talked a random claims person into giving me the name and phone number of his manager, and (big surprise) she wouldn't answer the phone either. When I finally got her (because I called multiple times, not because she actually called me back), she said she would call me back within 30 minutes. Hours later I tried to call her and of course got voicemail. I have gone days and even weeks without receiving a call back from Liberty Mutual, no matter how many times I call.
Never in my life have I dealt with such ridiculous customer service. I have been driving a rental car for a month and a half and am still waiting on something to happen. I don't know if this is how they treat their own customers, but I do know that NOBODY deserves to be treated the way I have... especially after a wreck that was not my fault.

I have recently had issues with confusion about the discounts when updating my policy in September. With much frustration with them, they finally admitted they had "lost" my profile for discounts. FINALLY I thought things were straightened out. Last week a RightTrack monitoring device came in the mail offering discounts from 5%-30% just for using the monitoring device for 90 days. I WAS suspicious to say the least! I went online for both positive & negative reviews. I spoke to my son who ask if there was a third party involved. After weighing out pros and cons I contacted the company via email & addressed my concerns and privacy policies. SILLY ME I said I would decline the offer for a FUTURE possibly discount without full disclosure. BINGO, they text me the next morning INCREASING my annual policy by 5%!! No if, and,or buts!
I contacted customer service, resolution department, & President's Service Team. They will not budge about increasing my annual policy!! I ask why & they all said policy was based on me potentially complying to the device!!! WHAT THE WHAT? I read their info to them verbatim. Very deceptive, deplorable, & on & on is how I feel about this company. They did respond to a few questions. They ding you financially if you travel in rush hour, make sudden stops, accelerate to quickly entering freeway & on & on. You can't catch a break!! So I have been with this sorry POS company Liberty Mutual for a month. In the timeframe I have had the policy I have it to file an auto and renters claim. Let start with the auto: Filed the claim, got a claim number. Got a check for $100 and some change because of my deductible and they said it was cosmetic. Got a call. They are stopping payment on the check. Got another call. Got another check in the mail for the same amount. Did the rental and got my car to the repair shop.
The repair shop told me when they call to verify if I had an auto claim. They didn't have anything on file for me so I had to send the body repair shop my appraisal from Liberty Mutual, then they didn't leave any paperwork with the repair shop and the repair shop didn't even know my car had been dropped off by Liberty Mutual towing company. And then the rental company calls, takes money out of my account because the rental has had no payment on it so I didn't know they cut that off.
Ok, Let's go to my renter's claim: The reason for the claim being filed is due me and my husband going through a separation. From MPD they advised me when he left the first time on 8/19/16 after 24 hrs or more he can consider the home as abandoned. Ok so a few days later I am out with son because he was starting school the next day and I come home. Of course my items are gone. So I called and filed it, got assigned to a gentleman who was working with me. So he told me I will have someone come out to do a full investigation. Ok no problem.
From day one the investigator was something else. She came to the appointment early, I was coming from work to come home to meet her and she told my daughter if I hadn't made in so many minutes she was leaving. WOW. Then we did our meeting she ask her questions, takes pictures, do her recording, etc etc. So then she asked me to supply her all this documentation. Well she wanted a copy of my phone records to see how much contact me and him had. I sent that to her that Friday about a week later from when she came out and that Monday she calls and ask "What are these other numbers listed and why have they been called so many times?"
Then I happen to go online yesterday and see that my claim was completed the day before. Now they say someone is suppose to call you every step of the way. "Do you think I got a call?" Then my daughter says I got a denial: The reason for the denial is that he came into the home and my daughter was there when he came in. Mind you we told her that my daughter works overnight, she woke up and saw he had moved things. So also if you are married don't file a claim because he lived in the home previously, this is not a covered peril and my adult daughter was there. So the claim was denied.
I am so pissed off with their experience and the fact I have a premium coming up that I will make sure I can find another insurance after next month. I wish I could a negative star. I am also calling the corporate office their number is 800-344-0197. I was a victim either way no matter that it was my husband, the report was filed with the police department as burglary and still nothing. That is just wonderful.

I was rear ended by a customer of Liberty Mutual back on June 30th of this year. I was assigned the claims adjuster Jane **. I never heard from her until I called her to inquire what information she needed for my claim. She immediately got defensive with me that she had "tried to contact" me only once vs. my several attempts to contact her. She NEVER returns phone calls. After several months and daily calls to Liberty Mutual as to my claim status I said enough is enough and DEMANDED to be assigned to either her supervisor or another claims adjuster. Ms. ** lied to me about several items, namely her "attempt" to contact the tow yard where my car is held and when I would get my settlement checks.
I ended up doing her job for her and making the necessary phone calls that Ms. ** should've made months ago (the tow yard had put my title into the Archives dept. because Ms. ** NEVER called them). So the new adjuster put a call through while I was on hold. The adjuster elevated my claim because of the date in which the accident happened. The tow yard and the new adjuster got that problem settled quickly. I have filed a formal complaint with the BBB against Ms. ** for her utter refusal to do her job in any sense. I just spoke with another claims rep who, when I mentioned Ms. **'s name had replied "Oh yes, I had a complaint about her yesterday".
So I'm not the only one! If Liberty Mutual continues to allow Ms. ** to keep her job I would be very surprised. I've read other reviews on other websites regarding her inability to do her job, return phone calls, emails, etc. When a person needs the settlement money to purchase another vehicle time is of the essence. My new claims adjuster had NO idea that Ms. ** had literally dropped my claims and was refusing to do her job. When she looked at the date in which the accident occurred, she said "Oh! This happened way back in June!" Yes, it did. I'm waiting for my second check for the towing yard expenses and I'm done with this. If you get into an accident involving a Liberty Mutual customer and get assigned Jane **, do NOT accept it! Demand that you get another claims adjuster. Otherwise you will be just like I was...waiting forever for nothing to happen despite phone calls, emails, etc.

If I could have given Liberty Mutual ZERO STARS, I would have! I was rear-ended on 1-15-16 by a driver who was operating a borrowed vehicle (his mother's car) with a SUSPENDED LICENSE and "high". He totaled my car, rear-ending me on a RESIDENTIAL street, 500 ft. from a traffic light and 600 feet from a school, at 3:00 pm on a Friday. He hit me with such forceful impact that he put me up on a residential lawn, 2 ft. from a wrought iron lamp post. The rear frame of my car was bent beyond repair. I was injured in the accident, suffering severe whiplash and contusions on my right elbow and left leg.
Liberty Mutual was my carrier. I reported the accident IMMEDIATELY to their Claims Dept. Long story short, it took this sorry excuse for a company TWELVE WEEKS to settle the claim! Phone calls & emails went unheeded. No answer... For weeks! I was severely injured... No car... And no response from Liberty Mutual. This company is HORRIFIC! Do not believe their commercials! All they care about is the premium money. I was victimized twice: once by the driver of the other car, and 2nd, by my own insurance company. These people are REPREHENSIBLE! I am doing all I can to dissuade anyone from ever doing business with them. STAY COMPLETELY AWAY!!!

I was stopped at a light. Liberty Mutual's female client drove across three lanes of traffic, causing one man to slam his brakes on his truck which then slammed into my car and total it. They both received tickets; I did not. The guy's insurance company was also Liberty Mutual. There was no question who was at fault yet Liberty Mutual sandbagged me and wouldn't answer any calls and would not pay. Not until I contacted the Department of Regulatory Agencies. Once DORA contacted them, they finally coughed up the money. Maybe they should quit airing commercials every 5 minutes and use that money to do the decent thing and pay out claims. Typical greedy jerks.

Well my percentage meter has not moved from 15% since the day I started. Liberty Mutual has behaved like a spurned lover, and made it extremely difficult for me to collect on overpaid premiums. When my second accident arose, I only had about 3 months left on my policy, but they raised my payment astronomically! (It was already too much that I was paying after that first accident too.) I paid the increased amount for these 3 months, only to receive a letter that they will not renew my policy the next year. What is insurance even for then??? They just really stuck it to me, and squeezed my pocketbook those last 3 months especially. Wish I would have got out sooner... (Oh and bad customer service too).

I have had my auto insurance with Liberty Mutual for almost 20 years. One minor accident last month and they will not cover all the damages. I had never had an accident, however my wife was involved with an accident approximately 12 years ago where she was hit by a construction vehicle (back hoe). A few weeks ago she backed into the house with a new car. The car was covered but the damage to the house was not covered. I have been paying premiums for 20 years that supposedly include property damage coverage but Liberty will not honor that part of the claim. And the thing is that the damage to the house was minor, approximately $500.
It seems the house is responsible for being hit by a car. Liberty says that since I own the house it should go under home owner insurance. They know no one in their right mind would make a claim for $500 under home owners insurance. The deductible is that high. I will be leaving Liberty Mutual as soon as possible. I would advise others not to get their coverage from Liberty Mutual as well. They DO NOT COVER what is written on the policy.

Stay away from Liberty Mutual. My husband and I were with Westfield Insurance company for 20+ yrs. I switched us to Liberty Mutual to save some money. Big mistake. We received a letter dated 3 weeks prior, that LM was not renewing our auto insurance effective in 2 weeks! My husband had 2 minor fender benders and I was rear-ended by an uninsured driver in that year. Although I was clearly NOT at fault, that accident was being held against me. So 3 accidents in one year and you are out, even if not your fault.
The woman I spoke with was very matter of fact and mentioned that I was hit by an uninsured driver and "the company had to pay out because that driver did not have insurance or $". I explained to her that we also had our house insurance and our daughter's apt. insurance with Liberty Mutual. And as I received this non-renewal letter just 2 weeks before our insurance would expire, I asked her if she could ask for a reconsideration with a larger premium. She told me she would call me within 48 hrs. to let me know. Never called me back. Once this happens to you, it is harder to get insurance elsewhere as LM informs other companies.
We are now insured by Progressive and it is expensive but I am happy with them. I also let Liberty Mutual know that we were "not renewing" our house insurance and moved that to Progressive. My daughter's apt. insurance is still with them, but as soon as she moves, I will cancel that. This was, by far, the worst experience I have ever had with an insurance company. I can't imagine what they would be like if you had a major accident. Their commercials literally make me sick. Yes, do your research on them as illustrated by all the complaints.

Liberty Mutual's adjuster, Nicole **, told me in addition to the driver's contesting the citation, they also could not get in contact with the witness.
After I got a copy of the Highway Patrol's accident report and faxed it to them they then refused to accept my phone calls and didn't make any attempt to call the witness. I was involved in an accident 05 August 2016 were I was T-Boned by a 17 year old driving a BMW. I was driving a Ford Escape and there were no injuries. I contacted Nichole ** with Liberty Mutual. Her tone, lack of empathy and misrepresenting what had been discussed has been nothing short of adversarial from our initial contact 08/08/2016. Need I point out Liberty Mutual’s client was 100% at fault and they contacted Liberty Mutual Friday 08/05/2016 informing them of the accident? I was able to obtain an estimate that same day. Further I offered you a copy (PDFs) of the estimate and the accident report Monday 08/08/2016. Nichole adamantly refused and insisted on following her script without empathy or consideration to the victim.
Estimated damage from 2 repair facilities was $5600.00. The repair facility they recommended under their rules was $3600.00. Needless to say while I was there 2 customers were complaining about their repairs and the estimator gave my vehicle a cursory review at best. Liberty Mutual insists on using salvaged parts from vehicles flooded in Louisiana and the cabs in Chicago with all of the bullet holes.
My only motive was/is to facilitate a seamless repair of my vehicle, your tone and attitude has put me on the defensive. Nichole ** with Liberty Mutual stated “I have requested numerous times that you let me know which day and time will work for you.” This is what she wrote, “As discussed, please do not just go to the shop without allowing me to schedule the appointment as it can delay the process here internally and we want to get you back to pre-accident condition as quickly as possible.” Key words are “let me” that was Nichole. I chose to wait and wait. I finally just got 3 estimates. I have an email trail from Nichole ** with Liberty Mutual that has one contradiction and misstatement after another. She doesn’t read nor listen well.
My vehicle is now a 2 seater rather than a 5 and we have 2 toddlers to deal with and all of their stuff. It also leaks in the rain. We need a rental SUV until at least mid-October when repairs may be completed, which is 8 weeks. I point the rental out because there is an issue with weekends and Nichole has drag her feet. Also Nichole ** with Liberty Mutual has refused to reimburse me for police accident reports, mileage, etc. And then there is the issue of Diminished Value. Note our vehicle was bought new has low mileage, all service records garaged and not a ding, dent or scratch. Stay tuned. The saga will continue.

A car backed into my scooter. She left a note and I retrieved her information the next day. She damaged both sides of my scooter and impacted the steering, making it unsafe to operate. I contacted her insurer, Liberty Mutual, and they left me a voicemail later that day. I reach LM's voicemail later that day (Monday) detailing a great time to reach me the following day within the time limits the representative outlined in her voicemail. No call. Wednesday, I leave a second voicemail. No return call. Friday, I leave another.
The following Monday I somehow get Kristen on the phone. She is cranky and repeats back my details of the damage poorly. She doesn't understand that a scooter doesn't technically have a "passenger side". She doesn't know of any repair shops that repair scooters and tells me to figure it out myself. I tell her I do not have time to call around. I list off the ones I know and she tells me I should call her back the next day after I've called them.
I call around and every shop owner is appalled they're making me call. It's their job! They empower me to get my personal insurer involved. I start CC'ing him on every email. Kristen starts doing her job now. She's also more irritated. She tells me the ONLY SHOP THAT WILL FIX MY MODEL is too expensive. I tell her to do her job and find a cheaper one then. She decides it's okay at that point. My scooter is unsafe to drive (and the shop is in a suburb where it is difficult to find a route a scooter can drive to) and I give her a time period that would be best for the tow company to come pick it up.
They outsource the tow to a third company. The third company is attentive and kind and wonderful and I think my luck is turning around. The first tow company they find's flatbed is out of order and is a no go. So they find a second (Loyal Towing of Portland, OR). They give me a pick-up time of 11am, which is two hours in the future and workable with my schedule. At 11:30, they haven't appears. I call the tow company directly, telling them that they are late and I need them to show up before 12. They tell me they "don't give a **" and hang up on me.
I call Liberty Mutual in tears. I'm going to miss my doctor's appointment. I'm going to miss an afternoon of work (having already missed the morning). I am frustrated and angry and offended. I don't want this tow company to come to my house, touch my property, for obvious reason. LM tells me it's my job to find a tow company if I don't want the one they sent my way. I retort, no, in fact, it is their job and I want to speak to their supervisor.
I leave a voicemail to the supervisor. The third party company that found the tow calls me back and apologizes. They also apologize for Liberty Mutual, saying they are yes, in fact, this awful to deal with. My wonderful insurer found a tow company he approves of, and the third party company hires this out-of-contract tow company and send them my way. (This third party company was wonderful.)
Liberty Mutual Supervisor calls me the following day and leaves a voicemail telling me I can call her back when I "calm down". She leaves an extension number that doesn't work nor does she pronounce her name clearly enough that I can search for it in the system. When I email Kristen and tell her to have her supervisor call me back, what's-her-face is on fire. She goes full-on Trump and doubles-down on the rudeness. She doesn't owe me an apology. And her supervisor (a Stephanie mentioned in another review on this site) will just refer me back to her when I complain to her.
I leave Stephanie a voicemail. It's been 7 hours and I haven't heard back. I complain to the company's Twitter account and receive my first "apology" from LM directly. But I won't actually hear from a real human being for 1 business day. More than just the victim of a no-fault accident, I am also a potential customer to any insurance company. Spending one molecule of compassion on me is worth more than any ad buy. Liberty Mutual, I'm going to complain until I have a hand-written apology from your CEO David Long.

The reasons for inactivity are across the board, "your handler is in training", "your handler is not available" "we have not been able to reach the insured (in 2 wks)", "the insured has not filed a claim", "the manager is on the phone". Once I had my items I started to exit my vehicle and almost had one leg out when an elderly gentleman pulled into the parking spot next to me and hit my door and almost took my leg with it. I took many pictures showing the door was creased inwards and the man was very hostile. He clearly hit my door and almost hit me. The pictures show how close he was and it was apparent he was not paying attention to an open car door in a parking spot. His car was parked at an angle after he hit me then he moved his car straightening it out. I have pictures of everything.

It is very painful to sit here and read a handful of dissatisfied LM customers. A piece of advice to those seeking a bit of relief: If is applicable to you, hire an attorney or take them to court. All their claim adjusters are run by 20-30-year-olds who could care less about helping out their customers. I have a court date coming up because I am tired of the games they play. Long story short, they low balled me on a car accident claim and told me to pay out of pocket if I wanted to get my car fixed. Funny huh? They now want to settle outside of court because they feel it is best in everyone's interest.
After months of waiting, I'll get a check in the mail, but it is a waiting and patience game with LM. Not sure if everything will be settled before or after the court proceedings, but I am 100% confident that they will pay for the accident claim, something that they should have done from the very beginning. I have never dealt with a company that lacks in customer service and manners like this company. I have been a homeowner for more than 20 years and on our most recent purchase Geico selected Liberty Mutual for us as the best quote. We decided to give them a shot - WORST MISTAKE EVER! We prepaid our annual premium and now 9 months into owning our newest home, a storm hits, a gigantic tree falls onto our house and we have over $60,000 in damages.
We were forced to live in a home for 3 days with no power, no running water, no shower or toilets working without the electricity to pump the water from our well. With out-of-town guests, a teenager just released from the doctor after surgery and 3 dogs, you can imagine the stress of no help from the people on the phone whose job it is to help. They only offer the vaguest of answers with no straight YES or NO and lots of room for anyone to interpret what they think they are being told or they answer with a straight out YES and then someone else tells you it isn't true after the fact.
I called repeated every day to ask if they would cover hotel rooms for us - the answer was "not sure" (no qualified person on to answer that). So I ask, "Can we go buy candles, flashlights and camping toilet then and have it covered?" The answer was, "absolutely", so we bought them. Finally on day THREE the rep says, "YES we will cover your hotel stay but you pay out of pocket and then we reimburse you" (of course the power came back on about 2 hours later). Mind you.. THREE DAYS we went without help which has now stretched into 1-month!
Every phone call I made I asked whether something was a covered expense or not. Tree removal for instance so we could uncover all the damage and secure the remaining half from falling on the other part of our house, it needed to be removed. I specifically asked if $500 was all they paid for tree removal and the guy (on a recorded line mind you) tells me, "Nope, they will cover everything no problem. The $500 is the deductible to remove the tree". So three quotes from tree services, I go with the lowest one ($3200) and now I am being told the $500 is the most they will pay to remove any parts of the tree on the ground - WHAT A SCAM!
By the way have I mentioned that an adjuster finally came after a week. He was the only nice part so far of this journey (he doesn't work for Liberty Mutual). He explained the process and what to expect, assured me that Liberty Mutual would have my best interest at heart and even took the time to read over my policy when I had direct questions related to it. Now fast forward. He tells me that he will have his preliminary estimate done within 24 hours and that he had to pass that to the insurance company. It's been ONE WEEK, and although he has finished his end, I have still received RADIO SILENCE from my insurance representative name DANE.
I called and left a message, he never called back. It has now been ONE MONTH since this fiasco started and the only time I talked to Dane was when I called and demanded to speak to his manager because I wasn't getting called back (never got the manager but Dane immediately called back and it wasn't a friendly conversation). The guy is an ASS. Since that time, there has been no follow-up call to see how my family is, or to ask if we need anything, nor has there been any call to tell us the total amount they will cover or what to expect next. So for a month my house has sat damaged and is forced to continue to be until somebody from that damn company starts doing their job.
The guy never answers his phone and doesn't return calls promptly. When I need an answer I have realized I will have to wait impatiently for weeks at a time to get it. This is so ridiculously callous and cruel. I can't even imagine what people have to go through when they lose their entire home if this is the way they treat someone with only $60k+ of damage. In times like this, I need answers and I need them now, hanging on a limb for a month for simple answers is grossly negligent.
So here I sit ONE month later and I am no closer to fixing my house than when it happened. It would be wonderful to have had a person from their company be on my team from the start. To have them proactively call me and help me through the process is not exactly an unrealistic expectation instead I have ONE conversation with the man who is supposed to be MY guiding hand and then nothing but radio silence. I called him Friday. Let's see if another week goes by before I have to call and demand a manager again in order for him to call me. Simply put at this point, I am totally disgusted in their lack of caring and customer support!

At the end of 2 1/2 weeks after leaving seven messages, voice mails, emails I contacted an attorney who magically got us a callback within four hours. The company agreed upon a settlement and sent us a check for half that. Since then I've simply washed my hands of them and turned it over to the attorney and we will sue them for his fees. This is a exceptionally dumb move on their part as I had seven cars, two houses and under a separate account eight other cars for my business.
If they treat someone like me, someone with assets, this badly, I can only imagine how they would treat someone less fortunate. As someone who knows the sting of poverty. I once was homeless. I suggest no one use this company. If you are only interested in public damage and liability they probably are okay. If you don't have full coverage on your car the insurance companies fight among each other. If you have full coverage they stall, nickel and dime, obfuscate, refused to respond, and generally become a massive pain in the ass.

Liberty Mutual Insurance refuses to acknowledge a person. They will not respond to you. They will lie to you. They will not pay your claim. I wish now that I would have seen the reading that they have before I signed up with them. They are terrible terrible terrible. Whatever you do do not sign up with them. They will come out and appraise your claim to meet your deductible then offset your claim by you paying a deductible. They will lessen your claim as much as they can so they don't have to pay out-of-pocket for your insurance claim. They will lie to you about the damage to your car and appraise it at a very very very low value. Stay away from these crooks. They're nothing but criminals. Their lawyers are scumbags. They're scumbags. Stay away from them. All they want you to do is keep paying monthly for your insurance but when it's time to file a claim they will screw you.
I have reported them to the insurance commission and I hope that they do something about them because they are a bad company. Whatever you do do not sign up with Liberty Mutual Insurance whatever you do. They are your typical insurance company. They want you to pay your monthly premium and as long as you don't file a claim they love you. But once you file a claim they will jerk you around to the point where they don't pay you anything. That is how they operate. Obviously having two star rating proves that this is who they are and what they're about.

I was unfortunate victim of a LM customer who hit my car, admitted fault in the police report and file a claim. LM accepted faulted and asked me to take my vehicle to one of their approved body shops for appraisal of repairs. Was told it was a total loss. When I received the valuation, the appraiser lied about features on the car that were standard options, say they were not on it and the conditions of the car to keep from paying a fair amount. They also did comps on vehicles hundreds of miles away instead of in my local areas because they searched for the lowest priced vehicles to compare it with.
Needless to say this practice is against KY fair claims act. I have file a complaint with the department of insurance. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the attorney general on behalf of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky being defrauded by Liberty Mutual. I am taking this to the local news media. I posted on their Facebook but they have blocked me, and now I will sue their customer and will win this in court because I have numerous photos, emails, voice mails of their fraudulent practices and I don't care if I get any money. I hope it cost them more than it would have it. They would have just fixed my car to begin with. Because now it's a matter of principle.

I was with Liberty Mutual for 20+ years, no claims... Apparently there was an issue with my banking and the auto payments were returned, not because there was lack of funds, but they were processing it wrong. By the time I realized the issue they cancelled my policy. There was no courtesy call - there was an email that ended up in spam so I did not catch it. So I paid the bill, called to get re-instated. I was told they could not do so and would only be willing to set up a new policy with payment in full for the entire year. WOW, given this turnaround, I cancelled all other policies immediately and sought coverage elsewhere. To my surprise, I have been overpaying all these years. Thank you for cancelling me and getting me off my rear to shop around.

On the positive side, they pay on occasion of a loss. And they don't skimp with requiring used parts and so on. On the negative side, they don't give you accident forgiveness and leave out verbiage (I did not even read it in the contract): Truth comes out. You have to:
2. Not even have a rock-chip in your windshield repaired by them. (Ok, maybe one can argue that one, but it shows as a major event in denying renewal.)
3. Your entire family is on the line and the 5 year count. Not the individual motorist. 1 incident in 5 years from anyone in the family and you're out.
Lesson learned: Don't assume. Don't believe that what's not in the contract can't hurt you. Get a legal opinion on what your state allows an insurer can do. (I encourage legal profession to actually start selling those! First, a general one on the state, then a specific one on a contract. Someone please pay me for that great idea!) We live in a fallen world. Another lesson: A specific appointed agent (listed on the policy information) MAY be able to help with a different plan.

I am a Liberty Mutual policyholder. On May 7th, 2016 a large branch from a neighbor's tree fell causing extensive damage to our fence, electric conduit, garage roof and porch roof, as well as, my wife's car. I selected a $1,000.00 deductible but LM imposed without agreement by me a 1% wind deductible equal to the value of my home to be applied against any claim I may make. The branch from the tree was quite large and it would take a great wind to blow it down. However, there was no great wind that night. The National Weather Service said we had winds up to 26mph that day and on the official damage scale they use this was not considered a "damaging wind". The tree is old, hollowed out and has ash borer disease.
Further, it has been trimmed many times by the electric company which has caused the tree to put out branches that are structurally compromised making the branches more susceptible to falling without a wind capable of pulling down a branch of this size. The coup de gras is that a branch from this tree has fallen before causing damage. All of this information was provided to the company in writing by experts and they insisted it was a wind event. They had NO proof that wind was the proximate or remote cause of this branch to fall. Notwithstanding, they arbitrarily applied this deductible costing me approx. $6,000.00. In short, they deprived me of a lot of money and broke their contract without presenting any proof that wind was a substantial factor in causing this damage. This company is most dishonorable. They spend millions on advertising but don't fairly or wholly pay claims.

Liberty Mutual is one of the most unethical companies that I have experienced having business with. The rep who signed me on, wrote my signature on the application before I had made the decision to start the insurance. The previous company sent me a copy of the forged signature. They would not give me a good price on home insurance unless I also placed my car insurance with them. I called my past insurance company and asked why they had canceled my car insurance and they said because they had received a request with my signature. I had never made the change. OK, so then after the first year of house insurance, they increased the premium approx. $300 and my car insurance has increased as well.
Then a truck backed up and hit my car in a parking lot. My car was not even running. Liberty has given me the runaround so horribly about paying the claim, that I simply refuse to deal with them anymore. I have paid for my own medication because their system stinks, you have to pay first and then mail the proof to them and wait weeks for them to pay your money back. I have NEVER dealt with such a horrible car insurance company. RUN, and do not even consider working with this company. There is no honesty in them. With car claims, they do not want to pay! Then they lowered my insurance to liability because they could not get us to sign some form - they never called - just sent emails. But that is not the reason I am COMPLETELY done with them. The final straw was when we finally needed them. We were rear-ended almost 6 weeks ago. The other driver admitted fault, has the ticket yet LM will not pay us the remaining cost of the deductible because they can connect with the driver by phone. Mind you, the other driver also has LM!!! We haven't called every day but maybe once a week.
Today I called and was told that their process is to research and determine their "findings" and they don't know how long it will take. When I inquired how they are having a hard time finding the driver when they are also customers, the agent responded, "What if they were out of town due to death? We wouldn't want to bother them". I said, "What funeral takes 6 weeks!!?". The agent was rude and talked over me with no empathy and then hung up on me!!! I was floored. I was not yelling or disrespectful.
I called back and of course they were so busy they had to take a message. All I wanted to know was the name of the agent that felt it was too much for her to demonstrate a bit of empathy for a family who was in accident. Then they raised our rates!!! RUN do not walk to the nearest company! I am going to spend a lot of time trying to find the agent and also solve this issue but I will be closing my auto and home accounts. Next stop...BBB! The claims Department is a joke. After 2 weeks of waiting I had to contact them (3 different reps and not one knew what the other was doing) I had to provide police report and I had to call 3 times a day for weeks to get any info. I also had to put over $1000 out of my pocket for a rental since Liberty wouldn't even return my calls. When they did they were rude gave me false information and told me they would contact me when they had info.
After 5 weeks of waiting the adjuster came out yet never called to let me know that we're coming even though I was told that would and lost another day of work waiting for the call. Bottom line 4 days of work missed, countless hours trying to call and spending on the phone and 49 days later I received a minimal check and a phone call that the rental is to go back tomorrow!!! How does one find a vehicle when the check won't even clear for two days?? Guess I'm losing more work and walking my 2 children to school. My son was driving the posted speed limit, when rear ended on the interstate by another party estimated by the state police, to be traveling at 100+ mph! Only minutes before this accident, this same party was reported to 911 for driving erratically at high speeds. In following proper protocol, we reported this to our Liberty Mutual agent who forwarded us to their claims department. This was mistake #1! The claims department gave us 2 different phone numbers to contact, one for physical asset damage, and one for medical issues. Someone else later replaced both of these parties, neither of which responded to our calls in a timely manner, or as in the case of the medical contact person, NEVER returned a call!
Another issue with this company is that my policy stated we were allowed up to 30 days of rental car coverage at no cost to us. I was LATER told by the physical asset contact, that 7 days after we received the estimate for repair/replacement of our vehicle, the rental car would no longer be paid for! I thoroughly researched our policy and NOWHERE does it say anything even close to this, so I asked several people to produce a document that stipulated this provision. After several emails back and forth with Liberty Mutual reps, one of the claims managers told me that this is their practice in keeping with the industries standards even though, HE COULD NOT PROVIDE THE DOCUMENT THAT STATED THIS!
After about 1 month, the medical bills started coming in and since our policy only allowed for $1,000 of coverage, they quickly surpassed that amount. After badgering our agent enough, she managed to get someone to respond to my call. This was yet another person not previously named, but they stated that because this was a No Fault claim for us, ALL EXPENSES WOULD BE COVERED BY THE OTHER PARTY'S INSURANCE COMPANY! However, LIBERTY MUTUAL WOULD NOT PURSUE this in our behalf because according to some pinhead at their corporate office, they are not allowed by law! Imagine my surprise when told that I was responsible to perform this task! I always thought that was the entire reason you had an insurance agent!
This experience should be a clear lesson to all that Liberty Mutual cares about only one thing, taking your money. CUSTOMER service is not in their vocabulary, and definitely important to them at all. Furthermore, I truly believe that this rat maze process they put us through, is 100% by design! Sooner or later you reach your fill. So my advice to anyone that is insured by this company is to never submit a claim without legal representation. These people are the reason there are so many personal injury lawyers.

Liberty Mutual Insurance provides a tracker that plugs into the OBD-II port under the vehicle's dash. They promise you a discount of up to 30 percent if you drive safely according to their criteria. The device tracks only acceleration, deceleration and driving between midnight and 5 a.m. Any acceleration or deceleration greater than 7 mph/sec causes a reduction in the discount. There is no direct correlation between Liberty Mutual's "safety" criteria and safe driving.
In 50 years of driving, I have never had an accident. I am convinced that this program encourages unsafe driving. For example, if you brake for a dog, cat, or child that runs out in front of you from behind a parked car, percentage points are deducted from the 30 percent level. It also encourages a driver to maintain acceptable criteria acceleration and braking levels that may be inconsistent with safety for a particular condition. It encourages those being tracked to run traffic lights rather than put on the brakes when the light turns yellow. The driver becomes more obsessed with complying with Liberty Mutual's acceleration and deceleration criteria than with driving safety. This tracking program is a safety menace and should be banned. Other than this discount program travesty, my experience with Liberty Mutual has been exceptionally good. Liberty Mutual has rates and great customer service.

When I questioned them about this, one of their "managers" was yelling on the phone, treating me like I was an idiot when in fact what he was saying made no sense, because the numbers didn't add up.
I called again and someone else explained that they were charging me a "premium rate" because I was cancelling before my renewal date, although that was never explained to me, nor was it shown as such on the bill. They also sent a notice threatening with a collection agency if I didn't pay within a couple weeks. I've had many cars and insurance companies over the years, but none of them had ever ripped me off like this for cancelling "before my renewal date." Rates have been going up now to the tune of nearly 300% over the past couple of years at the worst possible time since I was laid off 3 years ago after 38 years of work. I have called the agent time & time again. That is like pulling teeth. Sometime one of those pesky customer service folks respond with non answers. Rarely the agent responds & never really answers my questions, it WHY in detail & logic.
Sadly, I could change to another company (for both home & auto) who all claim our home is worth much more than it really is (& insist our policy must reflect their estimates), but they also require that you have a 2% wind & hail deductible (relative to your policy limit) & they indicate the state now requires that even though we are more than 100 miles from the coast, but nevertheless your most likely claim will be from a storm. That being the case your standard deductible setting is nearly worthless. I guess we are all damned if we don't have to have them & damned if we must to be safe. I think the government & the insurance companies have been tangoing together for a long time with regards to health, auto, home, ObamaCare, & all. These are sad times.

I have been with Liberty for a few years and 2 days ago they send me my renewal. My auto premiums went up $755.00 a year. Mind you we have had no accidents. No driving violations. No DWI. No added coverage. Nothing. So I call what is supposed to be "customer service". The woman on the phone say, "I don't know why they have increased, they don't tell us. They only tell us it's a area in which you live increase". Really, what kind of answer is that? I'm being penalized for the part of the state I live in?? And yet you claim you have accident forgiveness. Maybe you should have "the place you happen to live" forgiveness. This is just another way for Liberty to overcharge the customer when they have no other way... Luckily I have the option of shopping for insurance and that is what I intend to do. I don't believe any company should have the right to raise your premiums just because they feel you don't live in the area they would like you to.

We were hit by a Liberty Mutual insured. Our car is still sitting in front of our house so we are without a car for the past 3 weeks since the accident. This is our work vehicle! We call Liberty Mutual every day. If you get a person, they tell us they are still investigating to determine fault. Their insured already admitted fault! We usually always get voicemail.
Today, I had to be firm to talk to someone! They said we will know something in the next 2 weeks! 2 more weeks!!! So far we are out over $500.00 on a rental car. Liberty Mutual is not helping us with anything. In fact, they do not return calls, but they log that into their report. I have phone records to prove that we do not get any calls from them... We do all the calling in to get voicemail. I am not impressed.
I have been told that Mercury and Geico are the worst insurance companies, but they have ALWAYS taken exceptional care of me and this has never happened! Example: I was hit in a parking lot and we both had Geico insurance and it was by far the best experience ever! LIBERTY MUTUAL IS THE WORST! I have never been so disappointed in how a company does business as I am with Liberty Mutual.

We had Liberty Mutual for less than one year when we were informed by a very rude person that we were going to have our rates raised. Liberty Mutual doesn't raise your rates because of an accident, they raise it for no reason at all. Their advertising, which I bought into mistakenly, says they are wonderful and will always be there for anything that happens. Won't raise your rates, dah dah dah. Don't listen to them. Their ads are nothing but lies. Read the small print, and their service people are either nice and get fired or rude and raise your rates. A very unhappy x-customer. I am happy with my current insurance.

I was encouraged by them that if I add my car it I will get better rates. I initially contacted State Farm and got a quote for my 2009 Toyota Camry full coverage. Their quote $490.00 for 6 mos. Talk to Liberty Mutual, got a $428.00. Oh great I got a discount because of the house. I set it up, come out of my checking account every 6 mos. Payment will start after I signed the contract. I got the contract via e-mail. I read it thoroughly. There were no collision. They're bare minimal. This took place on Friday.
So Monday I called them first thing. I told them I could not signed that contract. It was not what we discussed. Cancel contract. That day went on and took 428.00 out of my bank account. I call them back and their respond was, "oh well," it would be 2 weeks before they could return the money. Moral lesson: Don't trust unethical practicing business such as this one. Some of us do read our contract. I was wrong for setting up, making sure they got schedule timely payment. They saw a opportunity and pounce on like a snake which is what they are (greedy snake).

So disappointed. Was paying $4200 a year for our cars. We've had this insurance since 1998. We just got new insurance for $1900 with only a $500 deductible on each car instead of $1000. Liberty Mutual sent us a final bill for $433. A slap in the face. I called customer service and they said they only review your account to raise your rate. If you want to see if it can be lowered you have to call every year. For $4200 a year you couldn't take 20 minutes to review our policy after 18 years of payments. Can't believe you don't recheck when we add a brand new vehicle. Still making us pay a final huge payment. Do not get insurance here!

We had to call them. Only once have they ever bothered to call back. Now I'm just getting a runaround trying to get a status of where they are with this, and whether I can get my car fixed with a quote that I got from the body shop where the person who hit my car took me. It's close on to a month since this happened. Judging by the comments before, this is standard way for them to not pay. Why are the regulators not closing these crooks down?

Liberty Mutual kept increasing the rates each year even though I had no accidents or traffic violations. So I switched to Allstate. However, despite cancelling with Liberty Mutual, they continued to charge my credit card for a few months. I called to confirm cancellation and get a refund, but instead they sent my account to collections. I had to jump through hoops to provide them proof of coverage with Allstate. They refunded only a fraction of what I overpaid for auto insurance. Then they continued to bill me for my homeowner's insurance. Not only have they not refunded my overpayment of homeowner's coverage, but they sent it to collections again for more than $500. I will never do business with Liberty Mutual again!!!

I had Liberty Mutual Insurance on my car for years without a claim. I had full coverage insurance. Last March my car was parked outside of my house on the street like everyone else's and a woman who was high on drugs and drunk hit my parked car and totaled it. This woman of course did not have insurance. Liberty Mutual lies in that commercial saying they replace your car. Liberty Mutual doesn't even go by the Kelley Blue Book value, they have their own value system. They quoted me that my car was worth $5,000 less than what the Kelley Blue Book value, said it was worth as well as paying the $1,000 deductible. I lost a car, I paid $28,000 for that was 3 years old. Liberty Mutual paid off the $7,000 note and cut me a check for $2,000 which bought me a car the engine blew up in. I will never do business with Liberty Mutual again after getting completely screwed over by them and losing my car and a ton of money!!!

I received a rejection letter last night March 30, 2016 around 5pm and I promised this man and his company an honest review. Claim # ** - REJECTED. I'm at fault and they are coming after me for $$. Their letter says that, not me. I own the car that got all the damage. No one was injured. Thank God. The driver of the car was waiting to make a legal right turn at a stop light. The guy next to him in a big truck decides he wants to turn Right without a blinker or the legal right to do such and literally runs over my car with his side step bar and almost keeps going. My friend gets out of the car dumbfounded and that other driver pulls over finally and says, "Where did I hit you? I didn't even see you parked there." Wow. There's some honest conviction coming out of a man...
I waited 5 days for someone from Liberty Mutual to call me. Finally I called them and got the runaround, a falsified temporary claim number, a promise of a smooth handling with multiple promises that the "claims specialist" will call me and keep me "in-the-loop" since I wasn't driving my car, my friend was. My friend wasn't at fault, his client was. Not their words, his client's words at the accident and on the phone when I talked to him, not that it matters. I just wanted someone to call me and inform me. So just be patient and wait. I did. After 3 weeks of waiting and getting nothing, I got an email from this guy asking the same questions about the same information that he already has, dragging on this process longer than it needs to be.
But see the problem is, this man is the one verbally telling everyone, to include his client, lies. Then people like his client, tell me what he says. So, I ask him directly these things that he says via email. He ignores them, demands more information and then immediately, rejected the claim. All the while knowing his client is at fault. Did I mention his client had expired tabs, DEC 2015. Today is March 31, 2016. Pretty sure that guy is not a responsible driver. What kind of insurance company, who has personal agents, allows their clients to knowingly drive around the entire State of Washington with expired tabs and then rejects accident claims pinning the other driver/owner for all the costs and fines? Liberty Mutual that's who.
See I wouldn't be making this a big deal, but because this gentleman has that long elaborate title attached to his name, that raises huge concerns to me as a prior US military member. See if you have a title like that, that means you are trusted in your company to handle the simple cases. Not make the simple cases hard, run everyone through the ground then reject the claim knowing it's a fraud. That being said... 2 weeks later I tell all parties involved in the accident to have the insurance claim rep call me as soon as they get a hold of him. He tells them both he's going to call me right back. Well here we are still waiting for that professional phone call.
Very unprofessional. Continuously lied to myself (car owner), the driver (my friend and victim) and the guy who had the large truck that ran over my car. Yep lied to him too and that's his client. Never once called me. Repeatedly asked me to give him the same information that his company already had, just to delay this claim. If he just wouldn't have told everyone else, who then in turn told me what he said (his own client even), he was going to handle this properly and call me right away, make sure my car gets fixed...I think everyone else would have trusted him a little bit longer than 5 minutes, to include his own client.
Now me being a disable military veteran, single dad of two kids, who pays his child support, no job, has to figure out a way to pay for $1,750 in damages for a car that I wasn't even driving. It was clearly the other guy's fault. He even admitted it. As you can probably tell, this man rejected the claim all fully knowing his client was at fault, who has full coverage insurance. Not a trustworthy businessman and a horribly managed company. This is coming from an outsider trying to get his car fixed and get back to normalcy. I'm sick and tired of crooks running this country into the ground. I really am.
Proverbs 6:16-19 tells us that God hates 7 things: I won't list them all, but the first 3 are these and in this particular order: 1) A Proud Look, 2) a Lying Tongue and THEN he hates, 3) hands that shed innocent blood. That's something really deep to ponder when you think about all the innocent death that takes place around the world, for no particular reason. I'm just an innocent car owner who's trying to help his best friend survive a divorce after 30 years marriage. He has 4 kids and 1 of them he can't keep out of jail. He was making an honest, legal right turn and because another man trusted his Insurance Agent, I have to pay for all the damages now. All because I asked for someone to talk to me about everything?
This is the America we live in today. Never received a single phone call and now I have to figure out how I'm going to pay for not only my damaged car, but in Matthew's letter, it says he is coming after me and my insurance company for all the damages to all the vehicles involved. Can you believe this guy? This entire review is not an insult, it's the facts. I'm quite disgruntled about all this and really don't have time to deal with liars. I've given all these problems to God to handle, but I'm not going to ignore a chance to warn others. Please Beware of this company and their untrustworthy agents.

Dealing with Liberty Mutual I experienced refusal to answer questions about the contract and refusal to show me the contract before signing it; repeatedly ignoring my request to speak with a supervisor, and no follow-up to some of my emails. I contacted Liberty regarding an attempt to insure my videographer equipment. On 2/29 I was in contact with **, Jenny and also **, Krystal of the Ontario, CA by email. Jenny requested personal info. I sent it, never heard back. I never received a reply from Krystal.
On 3/18 I made contact with **, Ryan by email. I had asked for the CA license number for Liberty Mutual. He failed to provide it. On 3/21 he instructed me to call regarding some of my questions. I called and got voicemail. We continued by email. I asked about specific scenarios pertaining to contract coverage exclusions.
He replied "I am not a licensed claim adjuster and I do not make the judgment call on claims. Each and every claim is reviewed on an individual basis. When I say that your items are covered everywhere in the world, that does indeed mean everywhere in the world. That includes your car, as well as a friend's car, as well as a non-friend's car, a family member's car, anybody's car. Anywhere on this planet really means anywhere on this planet. Your home. A hotel room. An undiscovered part of the world. These are all included. Everything that is not excluded in the exhaustive list of exclusions that I sent you is covered. I'm not sure how much clearer this can be?"
I replied: "Really? You then send me a list of exclusions that includes flood and vaguely defined "Neglect" so I would not agree that's 'Anywhere on this planet.' I then ask for clarity regarding specific scenarios and you make excuses for why you can't answer my questions clearly. If you're not a claims adjuster then ask for their help or a supervisor's help. In asking you questions about various scenarios I suggested you simply answer Yes or No (even likely or unlikely would be tolerable) or to point out any of the scenarios that would not likely be a situation where my property would be covered for replacement generally speaking. Please put me in touch with your supervisor to move forward." He did not put me in touch with a supervisor as requested.
On 3/21 I revived an email from BusinessInsurance@libertymutual.com that read "At this time, we offer commercial insurance coverages through our network of independent agents... If you don't have an independent agent, use our agent locator tool to find one close by you." Yet on the same day **, Ryan told me by email "The name of the actual company that underwrites the policy is Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. I am an employee of Liberty Mutual I am not an independent broker/agent." That seems like a contradiction.
On 3/25 I called the phone number listed on the website. I asked for a supervisor and was told no supervisor was available but a note would be made to be requested by one within 1-2 days. That never happened. I instead got an email from "Team 41 Steven (Steve) **" asking me to email receipts of my equipment. He did not identify himself as a supervisor or acknowledged that I had requested one. 4 days later I never got a reply.
On 3/29 I once again called the phone number listed on the website. I once again asked for a supervisor and was once again told no supervisor was available but a note would be made to be requested by one within 1-2 days. Someone later called me (I forgot the person's name) and he gave me a quote by phone - there was no acknowledgement of my request to speak to a superior. I asked for a copy of the contract and was told "you have to send payment first." Seriously? I will never pay for a service without seeing the contract first. On 3/29 Dominick ** (Customer Svc Spec-Rewrite) emailed me a quote. Again, there was no acknowledgement of my request to speak to a superior. I emailed asking for a copy of the contact. As of the time I am writing this I have not received a reply. I simply will not trust Liberty Mutual at this point.

We have homeowners and auto with Liberty Mutual. I trusted my agent that our coverage was adequate for our lifestyles. Side note: we don't use the downstairs much as our 2 older kids have moved out and only pass through it to get to the laundry room. At any rate on Super Bowl Sunday I went down into our family room to fire up the TV as it hadn't been used in a while only to hear a pop...no more TV. In a panic I rushed down, purchased a new one believing my worries had ended. Upon setting it up I noticed the ceiling sagging a bit and what appeared to be water damage on the wall closest to the ceiling section. It appeared dry, didn't really know what to do so put it off for about a week and a half.
After discussing it with my wife we decided to call Liberty. I spoke with Juan who was nice but informed that we are cutting it close because ALL POLICIES have a 14-day exclusion written into them. Basically Liberty can use this to hypothesize that the damage happened 14 days prior so they can in theory deny all claims unless classified as sudden and accidental. He set up a claim and an adjuster would be in contact with us. The following day an independent adjuster called me to set up a time - this is where it starts to get strange.
The adjuster asked if I found the leak or had isolated the problem to which I responded no. He recommended I get in contact with Paul Davis Restoration because unless they come out ahead of him, he's not a plumber and will have no idea what's wrong. I thought that was strange, an adjuster is coming out that can't identify what the problem is. I had Paul Davis Restoration come out. Great service, really nice, informed me it was about a $3500 job and left his contact info for the adjuster to contact him.
The field adjuster came a few days later, took some photos and measurements, asked for the Paul Davis Restoration contact info and left. A few days later I received in the mail a notification letter from Liberty informing me that the 14-day exclusion was being used to deny the claim. I have called and left a message for Juan once. I sent him and his boss an email. I left two messages for my agent and even sent her a couple texts. No attempt to respond to emails, no return call, no return texts. From the bottom to the top, no empathy, no value of my business, hard to even fathom.
So basically since I have a 1000 deductible they're willing or just don't care about losing my business over $2500 dollars. I would have probably been ok with the lack of coverage if they had just shown some empathy but they didn't. The agent's lack of empathy is the factor in this that has me so blown away. At any rate if you're with Liberty, recommend you switch before you need a claim. If you're comparing rates and considering Liberty, don't be like me and throw your money down the drain for coverage on paper that's worthless in reality.

I've been with Liberty Mutual Insurance company for approximately 12 years. I had actually switched from Geico to Liberty Mutual because Liberty Mutual gave me a group discount. After about a year, when it was time to renew my insurance, Liberty Mutual went up on my insurance. I decided to stay with them because I do not like to switch back and forth to insurance companies. Each year, my insurance rate increased. During the recession, I became unemployed but continued to make my payments. Sometimes I was late (no more than two weeks late). Then they reported me at least two times that year to the state of North Carolina Insurance for "lapse of coverage" when I did not even lapse my auto insurance. My insurance was never canceled. However, I did have late payments. I never got into any accidents, never had to file a claim. Never had my insurance policy cancelled.
This is annoying to get a letter from the state stating that my insurance has lapsed when I know it did not and also detailed in the letter it was that "Liberty Mutual reported that I did not have car insurance" when in fact, I still have active insurance with LIBERTY MUTUAL. Also, If I did not get this straightened out, I would face penalties from the state as well as not being able to drive due to "lapse of insurance". I had to contact Liberty Mutual to get them to send a special form to the state of North Carolina to report that I actually did have insurance and that my insurance NEVER LAPSED.
This was very annoying and very hurtful that a company that I had been with for so long with do this and cause inconvenience to me by making a false reported to the state of North Carolina. I would say that over the years that they did this at least FIVE times. Most recently, a month after I renewed my policy with them, I noticed that my insurance rate had increased yet again. And I received a letter from the state of North Carolina stating that I had "lapsed coverage" again.
This time, I was so upset that I finally decided that I was going to cancel my insurance. And don't you know, when I did cancel my insurance they charged me over $200 to cancel my insurance with them. I emailed a letter to customer service and contacted customer service and reached this office here at 7401 Carmel Executive Park (my local office) and they were absolutely rude once they found out that I wanted to cancel my insurance and did nothing to try to make things right with me.
I would think that loyalty would mean something to a company. After being a customer for so long. I definitely feel that I was not valued as a customer. I should not have continued to do business with them for as long as I did. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT GOOD, and the company do not value a loyal customer. I will never do business with Liberty Mutual ever again and I would not recommend anyone doing business with Liberty Mutual. Those commercials you see on television for Liberty Mutual are misleading. Their rates are not competitive. They go up on their rates. You will end up paying high premiums. They do not value good customers. Do not trust this company. And the local office sucks! I have not switched back to Geico and I am paying less than half the price I was paying at Liberty Mutual. Just can't be loyal to certain companies like Liberal Mutual - they don't value loyal customers.

Got into a minor fender -- I was driving next to a bike lane that had berms to keep the cars out. An ambulance was 1/2 block behind me. Kept on driving because the ambulance was in my lane and I could not pull over to the side. The car to my right decided to switch lanes and came into my lane. I hit her left front fender (before her tire well). Both cars were damaged. Liberty Mutual is telling me that will only pay for 80% of the damages. Does that sound right? I am in my own lane and the other driver decides to change lane without looking to the left to see if there's a car next to her? And I am considered 20% at fault??
I am sure many drivers know that you can't see a car next to you when you look into your side mirror. (For me I can -- I attached convex mirrors to my side mirrors thus giving me a wider angle of vision.) From what I have been reading on this site, LIBERTY MUTUAL INSURANCE "SUCKS." I get a frantic call from him while on my way to pick up saying that Liberty Mutual has no knowledge of me and I have never had a policy with them. Really? Give me back my premiums. Got this resolved through a number of phone calls and was able to take my new ride home.
At this point I am stuck with an extra vehicle. The new drive was not a replacement. In the past, I have done this a number of times, I have kept minimal insurance on a car that is not being used and just garaged it. I've done this with cars that have had liens on them. I contacted Liberty Mutual and asked them to do this for my Jeep Liberty and they were freaking CLUELESS! They required so much documentation, I am surprised they didn't require dispensation from the Pope, yet it never got taken care. After a week of jumping through hoops I just switched back to State Farm.
State Farm faxed the cancellation notices. I WAS WITH THEM AND SAW THE FAX RECEIPT. Since everything was via auto deduct I called yesterday and asked that they send a paper bill for the final. And was asked "What final bill?" They had no record of any cancellation. The idiot that I spoke to asked why did I wish to cancel just auto insurance? I emphasized that I had cancelled both. He insisted that I need to speak to both an auto "expert" as well as a homeowners "expert" before any cancellations can be made. Are you freaking kidding me?? THE ABSOLUTE WORST that I have ever dealt with. Progressive was horrible however this has them beat hands down. Don't let cost be your guide.

After watching the endless commercials from Liberty, I decided it would be harmless to do an online quote with Liberty Mutual. How WRONG I was. Day One: My online quote came in at 4 times higher than my current rate from Geico. Two hours later I got a phone call from a Liberty Mutual rep. I told that rep I was not interested at all. One hour later I got another phone call from Liberty. I also told that rep I was not interested. Day Two: I received two more phone calls from Liberty--both I chose to ignore by not answering the phone. Finally at 8:00pm I got the final call from Liberty, at which point I was very hot and although it is not my usual manner, I ripped that rep a new one--cussing quite a bit in the process.
Since that time I have received numerous emails and phone calls that I was NOT receiving before doing this online quote. I am totally 100% convinced that Liberty Mutual not only hassled me, but also sold all of my information to anyone interested. This company are the worst of the worst in today's online world. They suck you in with good acting and through scare tactics at you to do a quote--then sell your information to the highest bidder. SCUM - only begins to show my contempt for the kind of people who would do this. FOR ANYONE WORKING FOR LIBERTY!!! Shame on you!!! You should be ashamed.... If you have a manual vehicle, you probably shouldn't even waste your time with this crappy program. I have 2 vehicles, I drive the same in both of them. One is manual, one is automatic. In order to get up to 2nd gear in the manual, an event was triggered almost every time! Some manual transmissions are different than others, so if your transmission requires you to shift a high rpm but low speed, you will probably regret even trying this crappy data collecting program. Btw, the automatic, only 4 events! 4! Driving the same way!

I just received my new policy. It was raised 100.00 dollars. I called Liberty and was told I could get some discounts if I used them for homeowners or renters ins, and something in between, or if I took a safe driving course. Mind you I had them for three years prior. But get this I have a license so clean and NO accidents or claims or tickets, and I only drive about 3000 miles a year. But now get this the reason my insurance went from 800? Something a year for full coverage is because in NYS they are allowed to make me and everyone else PAY for other people's claims. I am calling the NYS AG on 2/2/2016. Then I will find another insurance company.

Perhaps Liberty Mutual replaces your car without a penalty. I do not know. But I do know that I got a traffic ticket, the first one I had got in probably 45 years. When my insurance renewal came up, they raised my rates for my house and car by more than $600 per year. When I contacted them, they wrote that the ticket was the problem. That is an absurd amount of increase for that infraction. I will be changing companies soon. I suggest you never fall for their advertising claims that they understand and stand behind you when something adverse happens. They are lying.

Having just read over a dozen complaints with Liberty I decided I would file my report of experience with them following my single car not at fault accident in Salem, Oregon on May 25th, 2014. In advance my apologies for length. I will refrain from using words not suited for print but may be implied. I am, however very bitter with Liberty which has cost me major litigation rights due to their verifiable deceit.
I will start this with a call I received approx 12/23/14 where I was recuperating from both financial and physical damage. The call was from "Ken" supposed claims mgr in the Lake Oswego Liberty office in Oregon. He attempted to be congenial saying "good news, we located your 2006 Lincoln Navigator, but it has been totally restored and being used by its new owners". Ken went on to say "but it has no value as evidence for total airbag failure in you case against Ford". I became quite ill at this car approx a year ago and here is the reason why.
On May 25th 2014 I had taken my collie, Shadow up Eola Rd in the foothills of Salem, OR, perhaps about 10 minute from my home. I have some disabilities. Age now 76. Disabled vet so to exercise her I would let her out and drive very slowly with her training behind; This area is known for folks exercising their pets. As usual I would stop and Shadow would hop in the rear of our navigator back hatch. She had her retractable walking leash on as usual and at 70 ins it was never a problem for her to jog with this attached to her harness.
I never drove fast or unattentively in this area as there are deer and coyotes that appear in the road at times. As well I have driving over 60 yrs with no traffic tix and only one minor parking lot fender scrape. Heading up a gradual hill with a slope on the passenger side as I got to the top of the rise at perhaps 10-12 mph a fawn or coyote dated right in front on my car. I jogged the steering wheel slightly towards the center of Eola Rd and next thing I knew I was flipped over the right side on the passenger side spinning 360s and bouncing everywhere.
I had zero control of car as it slide approx 150 ft downslope as I started banging on the steering wheel hoping to activate the airbag. It would not deploy and it turns out the front end did not collide with anything. Shadow and I spun to a stop. I unfailingly had my seatbelt on but I was still slammed into driver side window and forwards into the inside windshield and gut punched into the steering wheel. Quite dizzy and great pain. I was able to shove open the driver door and crawl out. Now terrified a fire might start, started crawling uphill towards Eola when all of a sudden I realised Shadow was not with me so I crawled back praying to God she was alive and not injured.
She remained, dutifully, in the wrecked Lincoln and hopped out the driver side to me on the ground. I grabbed her retractable leash and Shadow helped me crawl up the 150 ft slope. As I crested the rise onto Eola all of a sudden the EMT crew from Glen Creek Fire Station near my home showed up. I was in/out of fogged consciousness. At one point I overheard an EMT man say "this man is lucky to be alive. None of the airbags deployed!" They took me to Salem Hospital emergency and after verifying my VA status I was admitted.
That would be overnight and the next day they had me taken to my home. Why I have not a clue because about 25 hrs later all of a sudden an ambulance showed up as well as a huge fire engine (from Glen Creek FD). And still quite foggy I was hauled out of my loft bedroom and put back in ambulance and taken back to Salem Hospital. I had not a clue why but I was sure in a lot of pain and skull throbbing with migraine headache. Apparently they neglected to have MRI or CT tests done. It turned out I suffered 2 subdural hematomas on my brain accounting for migraine (which I still suffer from over a yr later. I also had a fractured right foot and was put on a regimen of narcotics for pain. I believe I was there approx 2+ weeks or more.
Time passed, I became more coherent and knew I needed to get an attorney. The tv in my room had ads for Pulaski & Middleman, Houston, TX experts on airbag failures. I finally call them from my hospital bed as I recall and that resulted in Pulaski immediately accepting my case pro bono. All the needed was to confirm the damaged vehicle which I learned Liberty had stored in Woodland, OR security stowage.
I called Liberty to advise I had attorneys who are sending an investigator to Woodland to inspect my car. I was promised my Lake Oswego Claims Mgr (Ken?) that the vehicle was in fact safe and secure and available for Pulaski to inspect. I then called Pulaski who then called Liberty to confirm an inspection date and time. The Pulaski attorney on my case then made arrangements and sent their investigator to Woodland, OR to take pictures and inspect the wrecked 2006 Navigator which Liberty had declared "totaled, not worth repairing". Then I got a call from Pulaski who advised me that the investigator said "There is no such vehicle at Woodland". He was told someone showed up and "drove it away".
I do realize this is lengthy but you might imagine there is no appropriate end to this insane experience. There were numerous dialogues with various people at Liberty. Ken being the "claims mgr" said he would track down the whereabouts of the Lincoln, but had no explanation (to this day) as to why. On their promise they destroyed my litigation. No explanation as to why in that short time someone could "drive away" the "totaled" Lincoln. Such promises are, under law, effectively ORAL CONTRACTS.
Such breaches do have a two yr statute of limitation. Since I was not aware of the tortious interference and subsequent date I gained the knowledge of when the statute might commence the 2 yr right to recover. I in all honestly believe that date would begin 12/23/2014 when the Claims manager, "KEN" called me at my brother's home in North Carolina, which, if true would give me till 12.23/16, the date Ken finally admitted the status of the vehicle.
The financial consequences and suffering I have gone through are endless. Seeing the deceitful and misleading ENDLESS tv ads only add to my misery. Liberty knows I am beaten into submission since being 76-77 with disabilities and living only on my SSA, I have no way to hold their feet to the fires of justice. They did something weird, if not illegal causing my evidence to "disappear" before my attorneys could proceed with my product liability action against Ford.
The most I hope for, with God as my witness, is that by writing this diatribe others will be forewarned. From the few complaints I have read it seems its true when I can state Liberty Mutual is a corrupt, deceitful business and I pray one day Richard Cordray, in charge of Consumer Protection Finance Bureau will chop Liberty's corrupt manner of business and protect other in the public.

Liberty Mutual are scums from the first call to them regarding short term disability, I felt they had foul intentions. My doctor faxed exactly what was requested and they denied my claim stating not sufficient information to support my illness. My doctor has two PhDs and have been practicing for 30 years, who the hell Liberty think they are overriding a doctor when they just accepts calls and review paperwork. Needless to say she sent what was asked. So we appealed the denial. I called and my Doctor called asking these crooks what they need and they said just more information couldn't and wouldn't state specifically what they needed.
They claim I can work and function day to day despite what my doctor prescribed and advised. Okay so crooked behind the desk probably no degrees can tell you what you can do over your doctor's order. At this point I'm consulting my attorney about them. Month and a half went by at this point. We submitted the appeal my letter, more doctor information and it sits for 4 weeks and I called, my doctor called and they stated they would get to it the beginning of the year. So three months no pay, no clear information on what's they issue and these scumbags scam artist haven't looked at my appeal.
Oh by they way every time we fax or send docs they claim they don't get them to delay the process more so my doctor and I both always have to send things 3 times and show proof through the cover sheet and specifically say 3rd time showing the trail. To me the companies that use Liberty is just as guilty as them so they don't get any respect from me either. Worked at a company for years and go on disability and cannot get paid because of the obvious games and practices both parties involved play is unacceptable. In addition to writing a review I'm also filing a complaint through the consumer financial protection bureau on both Liberty Mutual and Toyota regarding my claim because to me they both are equally involved in this scam.

I called them to get help for the roadside and for repairs and I was told my coverage was changed as of 12/1/15 and that they would no longer provide me with collision insurance. I will say, I was in a minor accident the month before and had full coverage, they paid for the damage and then decided to change my policy without telling me or having me sign anything. They did say they mailed out what was called a consent to rate form that I swear I never received. They basically were saying we no longer want your business, because you are a risk. All those commercials are complete crap and they are too big to care at all about the little guy and their vehicle. The most recent accident cost me $3500 out of pocket and I only had 1 payment left on a vehicle I was paying off for 5 years.
As soon as I found out that they would no longer cover me for collision, I immediately cancelled my policy and have gone elsewhere for less than what I was paying. Now they are coming at me with a bill for $28.00 because of the 8 days of coverage in December and will not waive it. Save yourself the headache and switch to one of the other ones! I was rear-ended while sitting at a stop light and the other car driver left the scene. Therefore, I filed my claim with my insurance Company, Liberty Mutual. They decided my car was totaled. This accident was on Oct. 6, 2015 and I am still dealing with trying to settle this claim because they are trying to offer me only a fraction of the value of my car. Today, December 29, 2015 I received a phone call from the claim representative informing me that she will arrange to have my car towed to my home and dropped off because they will no longer store it while we are working to settle this claim. I informed her that I wanted to have my claim handled by another claims representative or to speak with her supervisor. She refused. I repeatedly asked her to speak to anyone else besides her and she refused me each time, over four times, and she said that she was the only person at Liberty Mutual that I could ever speak to about this claim.
I have lost my trust with her and with Liberty Mutual. She told me on the phone to send in the receipt for my brand new tires and I would be reimbursed. Now she is claiming that she never said that. This is only one of many reasons that I do not want to deal with her. I am feeling harassed. I asked the claim representative to stop sending me the DocuSign email every single day for months and months, including on Christmas eve and Christmas day. I explained to her that I was feeling harassed and I was not going to sign until we had a fair settlement. She said she had no control over the DocuSign emails. I informed her at the beginning of the claim that I had just purchased new tires for the car and they were less than 2 weeks old. She told me to send her the receipt and I could get reimbursed. Now she claims she never said that and that I will not be reimbursed for the tires.
I have spent over 40 hours dealing with this claim and I am extremely mentally exhausted and it is beginning to impact my work. I was told by the claim representative in the beginning that I had to do the research on my car's value if I did not like the offer. I spent over 12 hours of my time researching, contacting, and sending her information and each time she found something wrong with my comparable. It all seemed contrived. My policy also covers a car rental. However, I received a charge on 11/2/15 from Hertz Rent-A-Car Oakland for $195.38. I was told by the claim representative that I would be reimbursed for this charge.
It is almost two months later, and I have not received any money. I find it extremely ironic that Liberty Mutual is currently running a television ad claiming that other insurance companies try to only give you only 2/3's the value of your car, but Liberty Mutual gives you 100%. This is obviously not true. Their false ad is so disturbing each time I hear it. I contacted The Auto Appraiser and they valued the car between $6,700.00 to $7,500.00. This is more than $1500.00 higher than the latest offer from Liberty Mutual and $3000.00 higher than Liberty Mutual's original offer. I do not recommend Liberty Mutual insurance to anyone and I will be seeking a new insurance company soon.

Liberty Mutual is the WORST!!! I had car insurance with Liberty Mutual for 6 years. During this time I have never filed a claim with them. 5 months ago I got a ticket for a minor traffic violation. 2 months later I received a email from Liberty Mutual advising of my policy renewal. After carefully reading the info, I noticed that they quoted me at monthly payment of $416 a month for full coverage insurance. This more than tripled what I was paying. I called customer service and they advised that the policy amount changed because of my ticket. REALLY!!! $416 per month for 1 ticket.
These people are crazy!!! So of course I did not renew my policy. My original policy was paid by payroll deduction. I was told that the payroll deduction would be stopped immediately. 2 weeks later I get my paycheck and it's short $104. I immediately called Liberty Mutual and asked why did they not stop the payroll deduction. I was advised by customer service that I did not call to let them know in enough time to stop that payment and that it would take about 3 weeks to get my money refunded. I was told over and over again that as soon as they did their due diligence trying to contact the party who hit me (the insurance holder) that they'd be able to accept liability. They never called me. And I'm not broke. If I had known they were planning on screwing me over and stonewalling me, I would have just figured out how to pay for it myself. But instead, they made me believe for 2 1/2 months, that's TEN WEEKS, that they just had to do their due diligence and then they'd pay for the damage. Instead, the final time I talked to someone there, it was a self-righteous, sadistic, frat boy who decided to make a decision right then and there instead of telling me what the underwriters had decided (which is what they told me the previous time I'd called in would happen).
Then he talked down to me and made me believe I was totally at fault when everyone else there had led me to believe I was going to be covered--they just had to do their due diligence. I am so disgusted with the whole process. If they'd just told me at the beginning what I needed to do to get covered for the claim, I'd understand, but instead, they led me on to believe that they would cover it, and then viciously told me I wouldn't be covered and that it was all my fault. I've never had such a vicious and callous "customer service" experience in my life. I put that in quotation marks because it's a joke. This company is vile and disgusting. The accident report states clearly that the car insured by Liberty pulled from a parking lot in front of our car. I had to tell Liberty how to locate the accident report online, apparently they were planning on just waiting for it to show up in the mail. They informed me I was responsible for paying for a rental car that they might reimburse me for after they finished their investigation. Which may take several weeks.
Today (12/8/15) I received a notice from Liberty that I needed to move our car (which appears to be totaled) to a location that does not charge a storage fee. They will not pay any fees after 12/10/15. Of course, they have not discussed any fault or reimbursement for our car, so all we can do is rent a car ourselves and hope they will reimburse us for at least some of it, and tow a wrecked car and park it in our yard until Liberty decides what they want to do. So we cannot even start trying to replace our car.

Both were with my new car and the claims were fully paid but it took more work than with other insurers, such as multiple estimates and calls once it went for repairs. So to all you who praise Liberty Mutual wait till you need them. I was happy till I filed a claim. I offered them pictures, they didn't want them. I offered police report, they didn't want it. Somehow even against what an officer of the law said whom was actually there they said they found my wife to be somewhat at fault and denied claim. I ask how they got that, she said "can't say". I said "police charged other lady, said my wife wasn't at fault at all, how can you say that." They had already sent their adjuster out a few days before that whom by the way told my wife he knew paramedics and they said lady was on some kinda drug. Seems in North Carolina.
Liberty Mutual knows more than an officer of the law who was actually at the scene. They decided that even with report pictures plus being in another state. No they saw a way to save 1200 dollars with a lie and took it simple truth. But I don't give up, getting an attorney tomorrow. Don't care now if he gets whole claim for his fee. There are principles here and they gonna honor what they took my money for. Thanks for listening, hope it helps someone. I was happy with them for couple years till I needed them. May you all have better luck.

I had a blow out and was slid off an incline into about 100 ft. of cable and post. The driver's door was jammed. 2 deputy sheriffs pulled me through the passenger door. I called Liberty for a wrecker and she gave the phone numbers of the closest. I asked to call them and she told me that wasn't their policy. I had to borrow a pen and paper from one of the Sheriffs. I later called again and asked for a rental car. Again the Lady only gave me a phone number. This was about 4:45 in the afternoon so she added I might want to hurry because they close at 5:00! They never answered the phone! I wound up calling a friend. This was 300 miles from my home! Thanks Fidelity!
Later the settlement of my truck since it was totaled was contracted to an adjustment company. They tried to low ball me three times on the replacement cost before I accepted one. When I got this settled, I wanted to cancel their policy. They nastily charged me 85.00 for early cancellation. I didn't pay them the money so they turned me over to a collection agency. Doesn't sound like their advertisement does it? Don't be a sap and believe anything they say! You'll be sorry!

Liberty Mutual screwed me over big time. I got in a wreck a couple months ago. They told me and collision repair center that they could not report the damages as total loss. They separated the damages into two claims so they would not have to declare a total loss. I was fine with that considering that the repairs were to a t and car was like new again. In the end they reported it a total loss behind my back.... How is it possible to total out a car if I... the owner... am still driving it and it runs like a top? Pretty sure they pocketed at least $10000 dollars or more of money by doing so. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS..... But what insurance company isn't... Ha!!! Well that's my story. Thanks.

Choosing Liberty Mutual as my carrier taught me one thing: once you pay your first down payment on a policy and become effective, you are nothing but a burden to everybody you'll ever speak to. Call center is just as bad as Sales in my opinion. But the competitive premium rate they offered came with more than just a good price for somebody with a few speeding tickets.
Reps who know nothing about customer service or how to explain policies. Better call multiple times because you'll never get the same answer twice! Sales? Good luck. My rep clearly had no idea what she was talking about, and would give me misinformation rather than explaining that she didn't know the answer to something. Then we post-dated a payment together on 10/23 to automatically take my payment out of my account the following week, on 10/30. Lo and behold the amount suddenly increased and they withdrew an additional $500 from my account that I did not authorize. After going through my bank to get that fixed, nobody at LM was able or willing to explain how or why it increased.
Call center is unreliable. Spoke with John, Ashley, Julie, and a few others that I cannot remember. Was told I'd get a callback, never got a callback. Dollar amounts change with each call, one rep says one thing another rep contradicts it with something else. It's kinda like they're not there to help you, they're just there to answer the phone and end the call as soon as possible. Spend the extra $30-$50 at another carrier. This has been nothing but a headache and I'm so glad it's a thing of the past!

We switched to Liberty Mutual a year ago after being very satisfied with our former insurance company but was able to utilize a military discount from my father's service (not the full discount but they gave us a lower rate). Our former insurance company wasn't able to beat Liberty Mutual's price for auto and home and regretfully wished us well. We submitted a homeowners claim this past summer (for water damage) and assumed our rate would go up SOME. We didn't expect the rate to go up 63% and our deductible is $1000. So I called in because all of our previous experiences with them has been positive (we gave our claims adjustor high praise in a survey following our repairs from summer) and assumed it would remain the same.
I called and was told the rate went up because: the replacement cost increased $8000 (which he stated was determined by Liberty Mutual. We replaced our floors with same floors. No upgrade and the drywall with regular drywall). The new home credit we received (our home isn't new) was being revoked. The new roof discount (roof isn't new) was being revoked and the statewide rate (which he stated he couldn't give me the figure because it varies from area to area) increased. After reviewing my initial policy there are no discounts listed for new home credit nor new roof discount.
We understand how insurance companies work but thought (from our contact with friends insured by Liberty Mutual and initial interactions over the year) SOMEHOW they were different. We made a claim and they're trying to recoup their losses by raising replacement cost and revoking these "ghost" discounts... WOW. So I guess other complaints given for LM are correct and they hook you in the beginning then hit you with these changes, if God forbid, you submit a claim. So you lost this customer. Back to old insurance company.

We had purchased a second car and the salesman recommended Liberty Mutual. I had my wife contact them and the sales guy, Thomas **, told her he could save us 30% on the car insurance and that he could beat the cost of what we were currently paying for home insurance. It was after, notice I said after, he had her electronically sign that he further disclosed that we would need to install driving monitors in the cars. I had my wife contact them to see if this was mandatory and the person she spoke with said that if we had the monitors installed, that the typical savings were 7%. And then an inspector came out who could not have been much more than 20 years old and put in the report we had debris on the property but did not elaborate, just enough written damage for Liberty Mutual to cancel the policy and so now I have to go through this whole process again.
I really wish I would have read through the numerous posts prior to making the decision to proceed. I spoke with a "Manager" who said that Thomas ** was not at fault even though he did not disclose all the facts until after the contract was signed saying that even though they had my bank account information, that my wife could have not agreed to the contract. Isn't that what a contract is for? This company should not be in business, they definitely fit the moniker of the biggest crooks in business are insurance salesman. When I stated that I did not require the protection he asked if I would purchase a vehicle without a warranty and if I thought there was less likelihood of failure as a vehicle ages, again, insulting normal intelligence. The second agent then became indigent, telling me he would remove my vehicles VIN number from the databases and I would never be able to purchase an extended warranty in the future. If less than 1 star was available, I would choose that. I'm not one to rant on social media, but I feel people should know about the terrible service that Liberty Mutual Insurance provides. Almost a month ago, I was rear-ended by someone who has Liberty Mutual. Everyone was okay thankfully, but both cars had substantial damage. After going through a mini battle for them to accept liability (again, it was a rear-end collision), I decided to go through my insurance company for the repairs but unfortunately I didn't have rental on my insurance.
After getting the appraisal, I was told that I shouldn't be driving my car as it was potentially unsafe. After another battle with Liberty Mutual I was told they would only pay for the rental once they received the appraisal and were told what shop I was taking the car to. This particular claim representative was incredibly rude, condescending and showed no empathy for my situation. I was finally able to get everything done with my insurance company, and when I called Liberty Mutual they informed me that they would not pay for my rental at all unless I went through them for the whole claim and informed me that I would have to go through the whole claim and appraisal process with them again and wait even longer now. Or my only other option would be to pay for a rental out of pocket and submit it to them and hope to get reimbursed.
My bumper, trunk, and taillight are destroyed and who knows what other damage is underneath. This could take weeks to repair and I don't have the money to pay for such a lengthy car rental out of pocket. I have called numerous people from their organization today, including a manager, with no return call. The lack of compassion and willingness to help people is truly disgusting. I would have expected more from a car insurance company that boasts of their great service on commercials. I personally had thought about switching to this company, but after this situation I will never consider that again and I will tell everyone I know about the quality of service this company actually provides, and will also be filing a complaint with the insurance commissioner. So please, whatever you do, don't ever think of using this company.

I would give them less one star, if I could... I had a minor fender-bender with my front quarter panel. Liberty Mutual Insurance (my company) decided to total the car due to the lack salvage parts available in my area. I was really wanting the car restored to its original condition but agreed to total it, not that I had much choice... The adjuster and I discussed and set a date for me to collect my possessions and for the car to be removed from the body shop and sent to auction. I left work early, drove to a different town to collect my personal property - 3 days before the date of removal we had agreed on. When I arrived I was advised my car had been removed and sent to the salvage auction 2 days earlier without my knowledge or permission. All of personal property was still in my vehicle including my license plate, child's car seat and all my personal items.
I called Liberty Mutual to find out what was going on?!? I spoke to an agent who said "Oh no! It went to auction? I hope all of your stuff is still there!" My 30 day rental period is up, I still have not received my personal property or a check for my vehicle from the insurance company. I was hoping Liberty Mutual would extend my rental as a courtesy to me due to the given the circumstances. They called me 45 minutes before my car was due back to tell me they would not extend my rental as a courtesy. I called the insurance commission because I am not experienced in insurance laws for guidance. They advised they would research laws regarding sending my vehicle off to auction without having a title, which I am still in possession of.
Basically what this comes down to is business practices and Liberty Mutual is unwilling to work with me. They have my home, 2 autos, jewelry and boat policies. I will not be continuing my relationship with them moving forward. The are willing to lose a long time customer, overextending a $24.00 a day rental vehicle as a courtesy for their mess up. Shame on you Liberty Mutual... In addition to this they will not work with me in exchanging my title for a check. I offered to go to field office, not in my area - to exchange my title for the check they owe for my vehicle. I am not comfortable sending them title without having received my personal property, and with the lack consideration and loyalty for their customer, and poor customer service. Liberty Mutual has left much to be desired. I would love for someone, anyone to contact me regarding this experience.
