We paid financially for years without needing to use insurance. After watching commercials that promised lower prices we decided to give them a try. The representative did all the work of changing over to their insurance which was very helpful. We have been happy ever since. Then suddenly we bought a new car and had an accident. Liberty Mutual was right there. They helped us through a difficult time and paid off the car. We would like to find the same good coverage with Home insurance. Unfortunately that department was not as accommodating. They sent people out and did nothing. Other than that, we love Liberty Mutual.

Absolutely great experience! I like the decent prices and great customer service from Liberty Mutual - Auto. It was very easy to enroll and also I have roadside assistance included and it's still cheaper than my previous insurance company. However, they could have a better app. I am enrolled in the safe driving discount program and am being monitored. I would really like it if the results were available on the app. It would make it easy to see how I'm doing. Nevertheless, the purchasing process was quick. In just a few short minutes I was covered. I like things that do not take all day to take care of. I would recommend them to anyone!

Liberty Mutual - Auto is helpful when you have questions. They make making a claim easy, when in an accident. And when you call and leave a message I have always been called back pretty promptly. However, the company seems like they don't always care about the customer themselves. I'm about to switch to State Farm because Liberty Mutual has been overcharging me for years now. I paid more for year 2000 vehicle with no collision that all my friends with new cars. After I told my parents they were being overcharged also and they had been customers for 25 years. But in the overall process of purchasing I would say it was all pretty easy. You just call to get a claim and they walk you completely through the whole thing. I don't like to shop for things I don't know about. So for once it was nice for someone to walk me through it.

I enjoy the easy access to my policy via email and website. There is a local office with willing beliefs when I have any questions about my policy. Although the office is only open part time and during my work hours leaving me to rely on the internet connection to conduct my business. But this was the easiest policy to set up, showing documents via email or fax it took less than an hour. There are continual rebates or discounts that are offered without my searching. I am shortlisted via mail to save even more money on my policy. However, changing anything on the policy requires lengthy phone calls. Sometimes being transferred between several departments when in the phone call. It would be better to stay with the local office.

The entire purchasing experience was very easy, fast and pleasant. I like every department I have had contact with. And when I dial their number I do not have to push 15 buttons to get to the right department so I can easily talk to the person I need to carry on with business at hand.

They are a great company that stands on their word. I like the price. No hidden fees at all. Nice people to work with. Plus they have an app for your identification card and that's really convenient to have. However, customer service could be faster. I'd like to speak to a human first instead of pushing buttons for this or that. Otherwise I have no problems with this company. The purchasing process was also quick and easy, it only took about 20 minutes to do. My agent was great and professional as well. They treated us like family. I always recommend my agent to friends and family. They make it painless.

Easy and quick overall. Did purchase all online and did not have to talk to anyone on the phone. Simple and expedient. Cheap insurance. Good customer service. Does not bother me with additional upselling or random phone calls to check in. I like that as I just want to have coverage. Unobtrusive service.

Liberty Mutual company was very fast and efficient in assisting me with a claim when I was struck by another vehicle. They helped me when I needed it and then made sure everything was reimbursed and my car was fixed like brand new. I feel that the price changed a lot when I was going over paperwork and asking about things I didn't see and my price about doubled. I feel that it was expensive but they did come through. I don't like that they quote you a low rate and that add on things a regular policy normally should cover. Not separate fees for everything. Go over your policy thoroughly to ensure everything you need will be covered.

It was easy signing up and getting everything I needed done. I had no trouble getting set up and paying my first bill. I just wish they were more proactive and called me to see how they could be of service. I am also only concerned with the price because if I spend too much I won't be able to spend elsewhere, like on groceries. If I spend too much on bills I will have no emergency money left. Should also have better prices and rewards for customer loyalty. Nobody values a good customer anymore. That's why customers keep looking for companies that will appreciate their business and reward them and make them feel special.

Just like their Homeowner's policy, Liberty Mutual will RAISE YOUR RATES every year. Maximum price for minimum coverage. They raise your rates by "nickel and dime-ing" on things that you have to fish for in your policy. Their prices go up an average of 25% a year even if your driving record is immaculate. AWFUL company.

Liberty Mutual is both easy and effective. I first did some research online. After that, I went to speak with an agent. They helped me compare rates and make my decision. In the end, I went with their plan, as it covered what I needed the most. Although the policy is great, it was slightly too expensive for my liking. I would lower the cost overall to improve the policy. Still, I am very satisfied with my policy. It makes me feel very reassured. This policy fit my family oriented lifestyle very well. This helps me sleep at night, knowing for sure, that not only me, but my family is safe.

Liberty Mutual is a very good company. I like that they have friendly customer service, that they are cheap, they're easy to get ahold of, they help you when you're down and out, they go out of their way and they do a really good job. Moreover, they're there when you need them. When I purchased my insurance, I went into Liberty Mutual's office and I sat down with a guy. He went through the papers with me slow and helped me with any questions I had. He also showed me the online application and how to do it. He was very nice and greeted me very nice. After picking the best quote I contact an agent in my area to sign all the necessary documents and get the policy started with Liberty. Accident forgiveness is the thing I like the most because I don't have to worry about my rates going up. Satisfying and no haste. But wait time for a claims are usually too long and there is a lot of being switched between operators. Feels like nobody wants to deal with your accident.

Purchasing the Liberty Mutual insurance was quick and easy. Even with adding a new vehicle on to the policy they don't ask for money up front. They also work with you on the day you want the bill to be due. I love this insurance company. It's the cheapest around and with great customer services. Auto payments if for some reason there is an error they wait 10 days and try again with payment! Very understanding people. Was iffy on them at first because I was doing it over the phone and didn't want to give my bank information out but I did after going to the bank and setting a new one and made sure the bank knew what was going to happen. They are amazing and will keep them until I die.

I subscribed but never received an email to activate the service even after many calls to LM. My 2nd month's bill went up 15%. I decided to go with Another company. When I called to cancel, they told me I have to pay $30. For what??? Rep couldn’t tell me. I’m canceling two days prior to a month and they want $30... DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE COMMERCIALS. Liberty Mutual is horrible and I'll never used them again. They cancelled my policy every month claiming that there was insufficient funds in our account, however this was untrue. Liberty Mutual cares about its customers and customer service is always available to help. However, I dislike getting through on the phone to speak with someone directly. My experience has always been great with Liberty Mutual. Any claim that I have ever had has been paid for. What more can you ask for from an insurance company? Purchasing the insurance policy was very easy and the person who helped us out over the phone was really helpful. He got to do everything over the phone and by email. And what I like about this insurance policy is the fact that you get full coverage for a lower price than other companies and that you can finish the whole process over the phone or online. I am pleased with my coverage and insurance rates. My online experience was really quick and simple and my phone experiences have been short but pleasant and sweet. He found some additional savings and everything went smoothly. I like that I have my own personal agent. Anytime I need anything I can call my agent and he answers all of my questions. I do not have to wait on hold to speak with someone in some other country or sit on hold forever. If he isn't available I leave a message, and he always calls me back the same day. Normally he calls me within an hour. However, their prices have continued to go up and up. Liberty Mutual offers the lowest rates in my area. I have done a lot of comparison shopping. I have looked into both online and physical stores. The fact that there is a satellite office near me makes them far better than online option because you have a real person and can physically show them what you are talking about. But I don't like their misleading commercials accident forgiveness. They claim to give all the customer a car a model year newer but that is only if you have a certain policy. They tried to haggle to keep me from choosing state minimums, I called stating that was all I wanted and they put together a policy for me based on that with a quote. When I got the actual detailed report it did not show that I called back and they adjusted it.

They do everything they can to make sure they get the right policy you want and also tried to save you money. The company that I work for offers us an employee discount. Every little bit of savings helps. I pay a lot of money each year for auto insurance for four drivers. It's very costly and would like to see the premiums come down. I also didn't like that our agent during the last claim did not respond to phone calls in a timely fashion.

It's easy to get in contact with a representative if I need to and they've always been very nice, kind and professional when I've needed to get in touch with someone. They've always gone above and beyond. Their app is easy to use, too. My husband gets a discount through his work so it ends up being about the same amount per month as Geico but with more coverage than what we had before.

My family has been with Liberty Mutual for over 10 years. They are great to deal with until you get in an accident or receive a speeding ticket. In one year I received a speeding ticket and my wife was in a fender bender. It was her fault but an accident. Liberty Mutual dropped us as a customer. I am 49 and in all my years I've never been dropped from anything especially an insurance company. We paid all bills on time, including the increase in insurance to be with Liberty Mutual over the years. THIS COMPANY LOVES TAKING YOUR MONEY BUT WILL NOT BE THERE WHEN YOU NEED THEM. I quickly found another auto insurance company who gladly accepted me as a customer. This company clearly survives taking on customers until they need to actually pay out and GOODBYE CUSTOMER.

I chose my company due to rates offered, what was offered in the policy, and that I could bundle auto and renters’ insurance. I was looking for a company that offered towing and rental coverage within the policy, which Liberty does. Roadside assistance is included which is great and helpful staff available whenever you need. But price has increased dramatically in last few years despite not having any claims. Within the last 3 years, the policy has increased almost 40% since purchasing.

Liberty Mutual is easy to work with. The individuals we have dealt with have been thorough and pleasant. The representative was quick with asking questions and generating the quote. She gave us a great deal. The rates beat out all other quotes we received by quite a bit and we were able to bundle and save more. She has kept us up to date on other ways we can save and has offered only additional services that we expressed interest in. But I dislike in general regarding insurance rates are that they climb each year rather than being fixed for any given time. Having to shop around each year is inconvenient.

I like their loyalty and being there when they're needed there and extremely reliable service that I feel I can trust. My process purchasing was extremely easy. I would definitely use Liberty Mutual and recommend them to family members and friends. They make sure all of your needs are met and won't turn you down when you need them most. I'd rather have a company that can give me cheap rates, good deals and overall good customer service. This is very much needed to be worked on by their company in some fields. And perhaps booting some requirements would bring in more customers. Rather than giving promotional deals they could even knock off some of that price. Need to have good credit score if you may not be served. The more you get to know them the more the rates go up.
I feel like if you're a customer you should get special offers and deals that could satisfy your time that you committed as far as loyalty to the company. Their rates and fees have additional costs that aren't very beneficial. The timing process is too slow. They should make it more faster and get on the ball about speed of their job to keep it at best fit for what is needed to keep customers satisfied. I'm overall not a big fan of their loyalty policies and once I came across a rude employee but they had him fired right away.
But they're looking out for your needs. They are trying to do the best they can. They have certain rules and standards they have to follow so I'm okay with this. Some expenses are high but they're worth it. I do however feel the price is a little higher than needed but it tends to be that you pay more for more quality worthy items. I also don't like their process but that can't be changed. Late night calls and reminders can get to be an issue for me personally however some others may not have the same issue. I tend to hate being called at certain hours especially when working.

It sounds like 8 years is the magic number for Liberty Mutual. We switched to Liberty Mutual Auto insurance 8 years ago to save costs and to have an agent nearby as we had moved away from our prior agent and weren't able to get the same level of service we had grown used to. Unfortunately the agent at Liberty Mutual left the company shortly after we signed on and after multiple attempts to get another agent locally we ended up with an agent more than 50 miles away. Unfortunately, this new agent was completely focused on his commission and not what was best for my family. Over the years our rate continued to climb incrementally. That was until this year's renewal where without any accidents or incidents but after I tried to switch agents again to someone local and was refused because my agent of record would not release the account.
My premium shot up 15%! Naturally that was the last straw and after researching a few months for a new insurance company we finally switched 110 days into our policy to USAA! Like other reviewers, we were shocked to find out that Liberty Mutual "short rates." It's premium so instead of getting a prorated refund we have to pay additional fees and penalty. After 10 phone calls and varying explanations I was finally told to call and ask for an "escalation rep" who explained to me that 8 years ago on page 38 of a 50 page document there was a clause explaining the penalty ("short rate") for cancellation. When I asked him why that fact wasn't disclosed by the agent, he said agents don't discuss cancellations when signing new customers.
Although Massachusetts law allows this practice, I find it extremely deceptive of Liberty Mutual to not fully disclose this practice to its customers upfront and to make the customer read and memorize a 50 page document after 8 years. PLEASE note not all auto insurance companies use "short rates". It pays to do your homework and to ask questions. On top of all that, Liberty Mutual gave me and my new insurance company the run around with faxing and accepting the cancellation, that took 3 phone calls to Liberty Mutual and multiple faxes to 2 different numbers. All this and we never had a claim with Liberty Mutual... I would hate to see how they actually treat people with claims!

Well my car has been at their shop for 3 weeks. The initial estimate was $3600. I was told initially that the repairs would take 8 business days.
Well 9 business days later I called the shop to check and was told they found more damage, $900 worth and that would take another week and a half. I contacted Karen ** and she called me back after an extended period of time and told me she was busy and basically everything is going as planned. I told her that she is not doing the job she told me she would do, manage the claim. The body shop told me they estimate they’ll have the car done April 12th. As of 3/29/2018 I've only received $1,900.00 of the $9,600.00 I've lost in wages. And that check of $1,900 I just received 3/23/2018. The adjuster that was assigned to me has NEVER CONTACTED ME SINCE THIS ACCIDENT OCCURRED. And just keeps giving me & the attorney I now had to hire because of not being able to receive the insurance coverage I pay for.
I did attach the 1 page from Liberty Mutual that shows the accident date and claim number. I pay for insurance to protect myself & my family. I have the whole policy I can send you that shows I pay for excellent coverage which I'm not receiving. Not sure how this can actually happen when you pay for car insurance. We were hit by an underinsured motorist which I just found out a few months ago after hiring an attorney. But this doesn't give Liberty Mutual the right to not honor the insurance coverage I PAY FOR. I need help & don't know who to turn to. I guess there's NO LAWS ANYMORE.
Updated on 05/18/2018: It's been 2 1/2 years and still no income protection was paid to me from the coverage I paid for over these last 20 years. I was hit by an under-insured motorist. After 2 1/2 years I've never heard from the adjuster that was assigned to me. I did try to contact her with NEVER A RESPONSE. After 13 months of No coverage from the Auto Policy I've paid for I had to hire an attorney. So now it's been 2 1/2 years with no end in sight. I was assigned a different adjuster just a week ago to find out that the first adjuster no longer works there. So my claim information is just setting a NO ONE'S DESK. I had to resend everything back over to Liberty Mutual and this new adjuster has responded to my claim of loss wages with a denial.
Since this has been going on for so long This new adjuster wants updated medical records which I did once again supply to her. So after only a few days of hearing back from adjuster # 2 I'm given another denial letter that I need to now go see a doctor of their choice.. When you pay for income protection and you miss work because of your auto injury "YOU WOULD THINK YOU WOULD COLLECT THE INCOME LOSS YOU HAD." Not the case. You're required BY LAW to purchase Auto Insurance. But the insurance company can make you jump through all kinds of obstacles to collect the insurance protection you paid for over 20 years.. This is just NOT OK.
Our INSURANCE COMMISSION NEEDS TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER from these fraudulent procedures this insurance company puts their policy holders through. It needs to be DISCLOSED TO THE CONSUMER that even though we think we have insurance coverage we actually will need legal assistant to collect any type of claim we have once we are in an accident. I was the VICTIM twice. I was hit by the under-insured motorist and even though I pay for their best policy I have no coverage on my policy to cover my wage loss Even though it's covered. To collect anything I need to hire an attorney and pay them 40% and go to court after 2 1/2 years. This all should be disclosed to every consumer about what does happen to them after your in an accident. We should know UPFRONT how we have to pay for legal representation when we're hit by another motorist.

I was involved in an accident with a Liberty Mutual insured. I was traveling on the freeway when their insured merged into my lane while pulling a trailer. As he was merging, the wheel well of the trailer caught my front bumper and almost pulled it off. What I thought was a cut & dry, no brainer claim turned into a nightmare.
About a week later, a LM adjuster called me and took my statement. She did not ask for pictures of my vehicle. About two weeks later, I received a letter in the mail, stating they found me at fault and denying my claim, no explanation as to why I was at fault. I emailed her, ask her to call and explain why I was at fault and she never did. I did hear back from a Claims Manager after I filed a grievance on the LM website. She basically said the same thing, I was at fault. She said their insured claims I hit the back end of his trailer, but pictures I PROVIDED showed damage to the side of his trailer. I also questioned if I had hit the back end, why is the damage to my vehicle on the right side of my vehicle. They would not reply to my concerns.
I sent letters, pictures of my vehicle and a detailed statement, asking the case be reassigned to another adjuster and no one would call me or respond. I filed a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner and in their report, it was stated I was at fault because I failed to maintain a safe distance, failed to stop and having the last clear chance to avoid an accident. That makes it sound like I rear ended him which I didn’t. He changed lanes into me and I’m suppose to hit my brakes and stop?? It was also stated that since the truck pulling the trailer was already in my lane, I’m suppose to stop my vehicle on the freeway to avoid an accident. I didn’t know this person was merging into my lane until it was too late. There obviously wasn’t enough space for him to safely change lanes but they state I failed to maintain a safe distance! I did maintain a safe distance with the person in front of me but I guess that doesn’t matter.
The precedence that LM is sending in regards to this concerns me. It’s ok to change lanes and if you hit someone it’s their fault?? My insurance company denied their insured’s claim and found him to be at fault. Why?? Because he was the one who caused the accident. Not me! He unsafely changed lanes and hit my vehicle.
In their insured’s statement, I found a few discrepancies which I wanted to address but no one will call to discuss it with me. I even sent pictures to prove these concerns but they obviously didn’t care. He even admitted he went to change lanes and when he realized there wasn’t enough room, tried to get back over but he still hit my vehicle.
Their claims service is very unprofessional. No one will call and talk to you. The treatment this company has shown me has been very hurtful and upsetting. I can’t believe they treat claimants so disrespectfully. I feel like LM is trying to find any excuse possible to avoid paying for the damages to my vehicle. I don’t understand how someone cuts you off on the freeway, damages your vehicle and then say it’s your fault! It also concerns me that they made their decision without looking at the damage on my vehicle. They are obviously more concerned with saving money by not paying claims instead of doing the right thing.

I was hit in my community college's parking lot on the 8th of February, 2018, and opened a claim with Liberty Mutual the day after. I was assigned Shameeka ** in Texas as my claims representative. It took until the 27th of February for her to return contact with me, after the "internal investigation" had begun, confirming that yes, it was their insured's fault, and yes, the company was at fault. Now, I will note that, during this time, I had made six attempts to contact Ms. ** over the phone, being met with an automated "not available" response each time. Really? I even left multiple voicemails. After I had waited almost three weeks for a non-forthcoming response, Ms. ** finally decided to get back in contact with me, and, to my annoyance, take with me the attitude of "we had been trying to get in contact with you several times already with calls, voicemails, etc" when, by my own phone records, was NOT TRUE.
After Ms. ** finally decided to get back in contact with me, she informed me that, as Liberty Mutual had accepted fault for the accident, I had two options to seek payment. Option 1: Submit photos of the damage through e-mail to the claims adjuster, or Option 2: Take my car to a Liberty Mutual bodyshop and have them do a damage estimate. Please note that the option to have a local adjuster come out, IN PERSON, and assess the damage to my vehicle, WAS NOT GIVEN, and when I asked about it, IT WAS DENIED. How does this fly?
Not wanting to lose my negotiating power by taking my car to a shill bodyshop and being misquoted, I chose to submit my own photos. Now, this company, despite having a fairly advanced website, DOES NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO UPLOAD THOSE PHOTOS DIRECTLY. Instead, you must send each individual photo as an e-mail attachment to a specified address. Okay, fine, I'll bite.
So, having taken these photos with my Canon DSLR, in order to leave absolutely nothing to chance and give this company as much detail as I can about my car, I had to send multiple messages with one or two photos each, as normal e-mail has a maximum attachment limit of 25MB. A day after I send the photos, which was on the 7th of March (I chose to turn the tables on them a bit, but it obviously didn't help), I see on their website (which, I should add, requires you to create an account before you can look at claim details. Sounds fishy to me...) that the appraisal was marked as "completed" (8th of March). Okay, great.
So...what was the result? The response I got after sending the photos was that I should hear back within 1-2 business days, which I did not. I wait five days, then send an e-mail to the appraiser, Michael ** of Washington, asking for a status update (that was the 13th of March, four days ago) and he comes back with "the vehicle reached the Total Loss point, and the TL adjuster will be in contact with you within the week." That was Tuesday. It is now Saturday, and I still haven't received any contact from the Total Loss adjuster. Meanwhile, my car has been rolling around with a crumpled quarter panel and scrapes all over it FOR A MONTH-AND-A-HALF.
I am going to wait until Tuesday of next week, and if I still haven't heard from them by then, I am opening a complaint with the state insurance commission. This review is being made on the 17th of March, 2018, at approx. 12:30 p.m., and this claim has still not been closed. I am extremely dissatisfied with how this company handles its at-fault claims, and my advice to anyone who has to deal with them in the future is simple. Don't. You can get better prices with Geico or Progressive, or bite the extra cost and go with a large company like State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, etc.

I got into a car accident due to a sudden and extreme hail storm. I spun out on the freeway and hit the center divider. Luckily no other vehicles were involved nor was I injured. The CHP that eventually responded didn't complete a police report due to the fact that there were no other parties involved and no damage was caused to state property. So naturally I assumed that because I have full coverage I was covered... I couldn't have been more wrong! I filed a claim and took my car to the Liberty Mutual suggested body shop.
After 3 days I find out that there was going to be a Liberty Mutual investigator assigned to my case. I figured it was standard policy... But NO. This is where they find ANY excuse NOT to pay your claim. I spoke with the investigator and gave my exact details on the incident. She was extremely dull, inconsiderate and rude and raised her voice with me several times when I asked difficult questions. The next day I find out that she pulled a previous claim back in 2016 where I had bumped... Yes BUMPED into a new BMW causing $514.00 worth of damage to the other car (my only 2 claims ever). I never put in a claim due to the damage being sooo minor to my car and the fact that my deductible was higher than what it would have been to fix it.
Now this investigator is requiring me to pay a 1000.00 deductible for that claim and ANOTHER 1000.00 for this claim. now I find it very funny that the repair cost for this claim is $2200.00 and insurance company only wants to pay out 200 bucks! My front bumper is completely ripped off with a little right fender damage. I have a homeowners policy with Liberty Mutual as well and I can't imagine what it would be like if something bad happened to my home. You have to ask yourself If the policy and procedures of this company (Liberty Mutual) is to hire people to find ways NOT to pay out on legitimate and truthful claims, or throw the book at you when you need them the most... Is this the company you want to rely on when something terrible happens to your home? HELL NO! I will be canceling my claim along with my auto policy and homeowners policy with this disgraceful, PROFIT prioritizing douchebags!!!
Updated review: March 19, 2018
I do not know how to delete my previous review when I was very upset when the lady on the phone from Liberty Mutual that was supposed to be a Right Track specialist but couldn't even tell me for sure why my yearly rate had gone down so much without contradicting herself, so I gave them a bad review. First, she said my first two trips made a huge impact and then she said she didn't think my rate would have kept going steadily down from that, and then she repeated that it had a huge impact again. She couldn't seem to make up her mind like she didn't really know. She was not helpful at all, so I wrote a bad review. But since then, some changes have been made after I wrote a small message expressing my disappointment and unfairness to the Support part of the Right Track app on my phone. It was hard to write much in that small space only allowing me so many words so I had to send three messages to them to briefly try to explain.
God answered my prayer and someone must have listened because Right Track raised my rate a little and deleted the first two trips I made where I didn't know how to use the app so I didn't have the location and Bluetooth on yet that the lady over the phone said was held against me. I am so grateful for that. She wasn't willing to help me but someone else must have. I am only giving 3 stars at this time because I am not finished with the program. I don't know if they will keep their word yet and give me my 20 percent off like they guaranteed if my driving was good. So far, my driving shows perfect, or 'great', so there shouldn't be any reason why they should not, unless they continue to hold against me that I drive 23 miles twice a week to take my daughter to school like the lady expressed to me on the phone was making my rate go down.
That is ridiculous if they do and highly unfair because I do not drive very many miles compared to other people that have jobs. I only go 23 miles and back, twice a week, which should not be considered much at all and should not have been affecting my rate like the lady from Liberty Mutual expressed it was. I have low mileage overall. I would have to stop driving according to what she was telling me, and stop taking my daughter to school in order to get my rate to go up. I do not drive too much. I only go to the store in my town once in a while about two miles away, besides taking my daughter to school, so holding my mileage against me makes no sense. I will wait to see what happens since I have 69 days left on the Right Track program. I was highly upset when my projected yearly savings had steadily dropped to $50 and kept going down when it started out much higher than that when my driving had been good.
After I prayed to God and sent a message to Right Track support, they raised my yearly rate to $87 and those first two trips are not listed anymore amazingly enough. I am surprised and wanted to make my update on here. I would not have rated it until I was done with the program if the lady on the phone had not upset me so much with her reasons why my rate was so low when my driving was good. She sounded totally unreasonable and completely unfair to hold my mileage and first two trips against me when I do not drive much and didn't know how to work a phone because all I've ever owned was a cheap free one. I had to borrow my daughter's phone to use the Right Track app with, and didn't know how to turn on Bluetooth and location until after my first two small trips around town less than a mile.
The Right Track device does not come with very many directions. They just expect you to know. I had to experiment on my own to find out, but since I left the message to 'Support' on the Right Track app, someone has helped me by deleting those two trips and my rate went up a bit. Now let's see if they continue to treat me fairly and do not hold my low mileage against me. They never warned me that miles would be judged when I signed up. They only said I would be judged by braking, accelerating, and nighttime driving. So far, I scored great on all that. If I keep driving well, I hope and pray to God that they keep their word, or end of the bargain, and give me my twenty percent discount. I will give them a higher rating at that time if they do.
Original Review: March 13, 2018
I was so happy when the lady that enrolled me in auto insurance with Liberty Mutual told me that if I got the Right Track device put on my van that I would save an additional $20.00 a month off of my monthly payments. I was delighted since I am on disability income and it's very hard for me to afford. It's the reason I purchased insurance from them. I am not finished with the Right Track program but I am highly disappointed because it starting to look like I was lied to, or they misinformed the original lady I spoke with. They promised such a good discount but made it nearly impossible to get it. The original lady I spoke with said as long as I kept my good driving history that I already have that I would be sure to get it. That's just not true.
For one thing, when I first got the device I was trying to figure out the app on the phone I borrowed from my daughter. I haven't ever had any phones besides the free kind poor people get sent that do not do much so I had no idea how to use a more advanced one. Right Track held it against me that my first two trips less than a mile around my town when I was learning how to use the device and phone together and didn't know how to turn on the Bluetooth and location on the phone yet, they claimed those two first small outings made my rate go steadily down because it had a huge impact on my discount. Then she said those two trips shouldn't have kept making it go steadily down the whole time and then she repeated again that it might have caused it. She didn't even know.
After I found out how to use the phone, I had nothing but green smiley faces saying great driving and no night time driving to hold against me, but my discount continued to go steadily down even though they were reporting that my driving was perfect. I always made sure my location and Bluetooth were turned on but sometimes the app didn't work even though I always had my phone with me at all times. Sometimes it didn't even record a trip as if I didn't take one. Most of the time it showed up and all those were perfect driving.
So I wanted to know why my discount kept going down. Her other explanation is because mileage is held against me. I was like you have got to be kidding?! I only travel twice a week 23 miles to take my daughter to school and that is held against me!? It made my discount go down even though it shows my driving has been perfect. So, people that have a regular job they have to go to five days a week, they would never get their discount no matter how perfect their driving is because you are not allowed to drive the vehicle more than a few miles without it being held against you.
So know if you get this app you are not allowed to drive or you won't get your discount. They make it impossible. They don't want to give more than a five dollar discount, so what they promise is not true, so don't believe them when they tell you if you drive well you will get a 20% discount because they won't! She said I still had time to change my rating. How!?!? My driving is already scored as perfect. How do I get better than best so it stops my rate discount from continuing to go steadily down? I can't stop taking my daughter to school twice a week and I've proved my driving is good but that doesn't matter to them.
They don't care. They are greedy and won't give what they promise like most businesses that just want to use apps like this to hook you into purchasing insurance from their company but don't keep their promises. I am so sick of big businesses and their greed and not caring about anyone else but making money for their self. That's how this whole world is. It makes me so sick. I get so much more depressed.

Maybe they should spend less money on TV ads and more on customer service! Even though we have perfect driving records and older cars, our rates kept increasing every year. So we called and were told it was to the where we live (hadn't moved) and the accident rates of other people (uninsured motorists). Great. In other words, we were required to pay for other's bad habits. So we checked with other companies and found much less expensive solutions.
Our new Insurer notified Liberty Mutual by email, mail and FAX that they were taking over the policy and to reimburse us any unused policy value. Well, even with solid documentation and resubmitting it numerous times, we kept getting late payment notices and bill collection threats. We talked to at least 6 different Liberty Mutual 'representatives', having to explain everything all over AND resubmit supporting documentation that we had changed companies. I'm still not sure what impact this might have on my credit score, but Liberty Mutual could care less. INTIMIDATION and POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE is why this company gets a 1 STAR from me!

These are the worst people I've ever dealt with in regard to customer service. I've never received a return email from her (except an out of office). The experience felt very crooked and I wanted to protect myself by having communications in writing. When I would call, I would always get her voicemail and there is a 24-hour wait before she calls back. I complained about this and I was shunned and informed that I wasn't the only person she was helping and her voicemail STATES that she has 24 hours to call me back.
I find it surprising that no one on her team could give me any information about the claim. My claim has NOT been settled but at this point I can't even access it online anymore. During, this whole process my co-worker has a close friend that sells Liberty Mutual insurance and when he tried to access the claim by the information I had giving him, it didn't even list my information. You plug it into your car and it monitors hard braking, hard accelerating and if you drive after midnight. First off it's very inaccurate. They have me driving after midnight several times. I'm in bed by 10 every night, no one has my car. I had to brake hard a few time because of kids running across the street or cars popping out of side streets and parking lots at the last possible second. I had 2 instances of hard acceleration. I was merging on to Interstate 295. Can’t do that at 20MPH! My discount started out real high, close to 30%.
Then I guess they see this then start nit-picking and creating false instances. I never drove after midnight! My discount rapidly dropped to 11%. It's a SCAM! Am I suppose to not brake hard and just hit kids and other cars? I should be rewarded for it, not penalized! Maybe I'll sleep in my car to be sure it doesn't drive itself past midnight. Very disappointed because I am a very good and safe driver and was hoping for the maximum discount! It's not happening! Avoid this scam!

Nicole ** (senior claim resolution specialist) has been my representative throughout this nightmare and has been anything but professional or helpful for that matter. First off, I had to contact Liberty Mutual to even get my claim started; my insurance company had to phone them to inform them their client (me) was involved in a auto accident with one of their customers. I was forced out of my rental early and had to pay for an Uber (costing me money), there was zero contact to even question my well being. Not once.
Now that I have tried to settle and be done with the back and forth, I can’t get a response. I have sent countless emails, made countless phone calls and it’s gotten me nowhere. I now have a medical bill sitting in pre-collections because they have refused to pay it even though I have emails from Nicole stating it would be paid. I’m now being held responsible to pay my deductible and my insurance will go up because there isn’t sufficient “evidence”. It was because of the tow. They had the nerve to tell me that my car was hit TWICE during the day it was in the parking lot at my residence. Which is outrageous - the damage is widespread and my trunk is dented shut.
Liberty Mutual uses third parties and it is SO difficult to get in touch with management or anyone who can help. Liberty Mutual (in Massachusetts) charged me $356/mo dollars for coverage that Progressive offered me at $115/mo. When purchasing a new 2018 Ford Explorer I quickly purchased insurance through them without price comparison shopping. Once I found out Progressive offered insurance with better coverage at a fraction of the price, I called Liberty Mutual and canceled before my month was finished. Liberty Mutual then charged me a short-rate fee of $161.68 for this privilege. I called Liberty Mutual to understand this and ask for it to be rescinded and was told by three representatives that there was nothing they could do. Not only is Liberty Mutual grossly overcharging for insurance, but with this kind of business practice I fear what would happen if I actually needed for them to cover any car accident repair fees that I may have encountered.
I asked why I was not informed of the Short-Rate fee during the purchasing of the policy online with my credit card and was told it was revealed in the documents after I executed the purchase. This could have been remedied by a small piece of text at the time of purchase below the "pay now" box that stated if you buy an annual policy, cancelation could result in additional fees. It is obvious Liberty Mutual is a fraudulently organized company whose goal is to extract as much money from the public as the can legally possibly do. Poor business practices like this one are typically repeated in other areas so I would highly advise not choosing Liberty Mutual when it is time to purchase insurance. Again. Progressive charged me $115 a month ($300 collision deductible when Liberty Mutual only offered $500) for an car insurance policy with identical coverage which Liberty Mutual charged me $356/mo.

The cost for this insurance is too high! All insurance companies should spread out their cost of auto insurance throughout all of Michigan and STOP this racial profiling. Insurance Companies always charge more in ** areas zip codes and crime is all over MI not just in the ** areas. ** criminals come into ** neighbors to do crime, and profit off of stolen vehicle parts so the cost of insurance should be equally spread throughout the whole state of MI and not just in ** zip codes. ** criminal steal cars too, so why use zip codes to decide which consumers pay less or more for auto insurance. We are ALL aware of the profiling, but big money does not mind abusing minority people without a voice or money to fight back! But thank God that our SAVIOR is equal to ALL (we ALL start out the SAME and we ALL end the SAME). Insurance CEOs think about that at night!

I recently received a mailing from Liberty Mutual to call with the given reference # for a quote guaranteed to save me money...so I did as my rates had been creeping up over the years with Nationwide. Turns out I was redirected to Safeco Insurance (a Liberty Mutual company) but yes they were saving me nearly $500 a year so I switched to them on Jan 16th, paying the first 6 months of my policy up front... I got my required CARCO photo inspection in Amagansett NY on the 26th (according to the Safeco guy I had 14 days by NY law, so I was well within the requirements). Fast forward to today Feb 9th, I receive a snail mail letter composed on Feb 6th that as of Jan 31st they had cancelled my policy for not complying and having the photo inspection done!!! I called FURIOUS, advising the error was on them and their Carco agents' part.
How dare they not send an email or make a phone call that they were about to or had cancelled my insurance. I've been driving around Uninsured for 10 days due to THEIR errors. The snotty nosed little kid that took my call said it was not their fault that I was negligent! It actually took me going to 3 different towns and garages to get the photos complete as their website incorrectly lists authorized places and hours. I'm going to shop around for a new company as I can only imagine the crap customer service and absolute complete nightmare it will be if God forbid I ever did have an accident.

On September 18, Liberty Mutual sold me insurance for my trailer and determined my premium after asking for my valuation of the vehicle. On September 25, I called again to increase the value of my trailer, explaining that I’d forgotten to include the tow package, new tires, and photovoltaic system. My higher valuation was accepted and my premium was increased. After my accident (October 7, 2018), Liberty Mutual claimed the photovoltaic system and tow package ($3,600) on my trailer are not covered as they should have been called a “customization.” They have issued me a denial letter.
Also on September 18, Liberty Mutual sold me insurance for my “contents,” which I described as including many of my worldly possessions, because the trailer is my home. A week later, I increased the value of my contents coverage from $5,000 to $15,000, and they issued an increased bill. After my accident and claim for around $2,000 in losses, Liberty Mutual shocked me with their claim that they don’t offer “contents” coverage - though the agent later emailed that they did. After that agent was replaced by another, I was told their coverage was limited to only $500. They have issued me a denial for this also.
On October 20, I requested by phone and by email a copy of the recording of the sales conversations, and was told many times that it had been requested, by two different agents. Our emails contain numerous exchanges regarding this request. Today, the company says that the recording has been destroyed as it is now over 90 days old.
Liberty Mutual appraisers seem unable to conduct an honest or logical appraisal. My trailer has 8 and 10 upgrades more than the two comparables, and yet the appraiser has assigned only $50 credit on one comparable, and has illogically subtracted $750 from the other comparable, and neither the agent nor the supervisor see anything wrong with it. I have been denied my request to speak to a manager above the manager. And I have asked to have the individual adjustments to the comparables itemized rather than lumped together, but this has also not been produced. Still hoping for fair treatment, but it's been over 4 months!

After the horrible experience I have been through with Liberty Mutual I highly recommend people to reconsider their insurance if you're looking for coverage. I had gotten into an accident recently, and when I made my claim to them, they completely twisted my words in order to put me on the policy, and furthermore they wanted to bill us for an entire year's worth of insurance all upfront, immediately, or else I couldn't get my car fixed! On top of this when we tried getting the student discount because I dorm away at school, they gave us a very hard time. This is not how you treat your customers who have been with your company for years, and have given you their business. I will definitely be moving on from them.

Raised rate from $1300 per year to $3000 per year... lol, and that's after the DISCOUNTS. I paid off my home in 2017, at which time my rate was $1300 per year. I just got my bill and it's $3027.00 per year. Before discounts, my bill is $6000.00 per year. I called to find out why they thought I was stupid, and they said that my county's Fire Protection Rating Code was lowered from a "4" to a "9". That it had nothing to do with having paid off my home. By the way, my home is on 1 acre and is worth well under $200,000.00. So, right after I find another insurance company, I'm going to take this to our county's fire chief, as well as to my state and county representatives. I'll never give Liberty Mutual another dime of my money. Never.

I was involved in an accident where a construction truck plowed into my parked car (while I was in it). The truck driver was unlicensed, and his work site supervisor (passenger) provided the insurance info & truck registration. The paperwork ended up being false, and I had to demand the correct insurance info, and did not receive it until a month after the accident.
Here comes Liberty Mutual! The claims agent (Monica **), reviewed the claim and informed she would get in contact with the company owner so we could pay for the damages ($4K) committed by her insured. Over the next 7 months we emailed back and forth, and the claims agent (Ms. Miller) informed she could not contact her insured and ultimately stated that because her insured did not respond they would no longer pursue my claim and dropped my case. That leaves me on the hook for +$4K!
So, next step... I go to small claims and win. I present the court's findings to Ms. ** and Liberty Mutual and she dismissed the claim stating that Liberty Mutual is not named in the court case and will not pay. After back and forth, it's now up to me to hire a collection agency to recoup any money from this company which caused personal damage to my property and left me thousands of dollars in the hole. I have several family members who are senior managers at insurance companies (in other states) and advised how this claims agent and Liberty Mutual responded was in extreme poor practice.
Ms. ** and Liberty Mutual are hiding behind their insured so as to not have to pay the claim, even after a court's ruling. This company (and agent) are dishonest and should not be trusted (unless you are a criminal). I have learned a lot over this ordeal and hope this review may benefit others. Stay away from this dishonest company! Liberty Mutual are fraudulent hacks and will not back up good people put in horrible situations. Everything was dropped. Well 2 years later insurance steadily going through the roof. Found out they put points on my wife. Called spoke to nice lady who informed it said a no fault that should not be there. The adjuster no longer worked there but the department that handled it would take 2 days and she would call back.
3 days passed so I called back. Spoke with guy that said it didn't say that and some other different things than what the first lady said. Long story short they put me through to management who informed me that the email that their lawyer sent me was wrong. They decided not to go to court and pay this lady. Now this lady was proved to have done this to Time Warner Cable truck and two other people so they paid her. Just so not to go to court. I've tried this 3 times and each time, Liberty Mutual says they did not receive the documents and they give me a new fax number and new e-mail address. Liberty Mutual is also demanding that they receive a 2A form from the new insurance carrier, but it is not required by the state of Massachusetts where I am insured. Worst customer service I can recall. Liberty Mutual forgot to file required state forms following an accident. I call to verify on multiple occasions and Liberty Mutual continued to tell me it was all taken care of. My son got a letter in the mail saying his license was revoked. We called and they said they forgot to file the paperwork but would get to it in 72 hours. They never followed up and "forgot" to file again. When I called back they said they would file again but it would be another 72 hours. This time they did file but put it under my name and not my son's. I called back and they said they had filed to fix this. We called back in to verify (because they never follow up on the promise to call back). This time they filed to remove mine but still never submitted the paperwork for my son.
I asked to be transferred up to a supervisor and got Chris in resolutions. She was rude and after me asking her to transfer me several times she said there was no one available. I advised that was not acceptable based on the time and damage of the claim already. She called her boss and came back to the phone and said she could not transfer me because there was no one available. I asked to speak to her boss (the one she just talked to) and she said no one was available. She said she could not do anything else and had followed protocol and hung up the phone. Terrible customer service. Some of these people need to find a new line of work. It was Liberty Mutual's mistake and I am sooo sorry for inconveniencing you to ask you to correct your error. I got into an accident where someone rear ended me and it was not my fault. I contacted Liberty insurance and they did not contact me for a week. They then finally responded after I called them. They did not document any of the information that I gave them properly and were extremely unresponsive. The only time they started responding was when I told them that I wanted to close the case and wanted to settle with the other company 50/50 so we could put this to rest. At that point they were now interested and said I could not do that until they approve. It has now been 1 year and the claim is still pending.
I have already paid for the damage and they have done nothing about this till date. The response I still get that is that they will get back to us. We recently had another incident where our car battery died and they told us they would reach us in 20 mins. We waited outside in the cold and no one came. The vendor they selected was extremely rude and unprofessional. We called the vendor and their response was that they were busy. The vendor's next response to us was that they are coming in 20 mins. We were waiting an hour in the cold and they still didn't come.
At that point we told them we would take an Uber and would like to cancel their service; at that point they finally responded and we told them we do not need their service. Our experience with Liberty Mutual has been extremely terrible and we would not recommend this insurance provider to anyone. We have not had any good experiences with them on any end whether it be customer service, professionalism, care towards their customer.

I have been with Liberty Mutual since the early 1980's. Liberty carries the insurance on my autos, homeowners, umbrella liability, condo, earthquake and 6 rental fire policies. I have ample experience to draw upon in this review. I don't file a lot of claims, however, I have seen a marked decline in service, responsiveness, claim settlement to my satisfaction, professionalism, etc., the last 10 to 15 years when I have had to file a claim. When I need them, they don't seem to be on my side. This accounts for my continuing and growing dissatisfaction. Year after year I plan to shop around. Inertia and fear of the unknown new company keeps me with them.
It's an OVERALL dissatisfaction but I will attempt to list my major complaints as follows: (1) Unresponsive claims agents, (2) roadside service I pay for, non existent in my town, Malibu, California. (3) Low payments when I have a claim. I must fight for what should be a given, which is time consuming. (4) They raise my mileage and premiums each year without notice. (5) They charged a point, and doubled the premiums, on my husband's auto policy. He had no other tickets or accidents, but for an $1100 claim (caused by him hitting a cement post in his blind spot) they doubled our premium.
(6) One reason I stayed with them was the mistaken information that there was a one point accident forgiveness after 5 years longevity with their company. I found out in a phone conversation with them that this had been deemed illegal years ago in California. How is a consumer to know things like this when they still advertise it in their nationwide ads? There are other reasons for my general dissatisfaction; when it comes to writing of policies, customer service, lack of training for agents, no more personal, local agents, only impersonal phone agents.

Claims dept. They threaten you with imposing lot charges for your vehicle when the body shop is their preferred body shop and by contract they cannot charge customer lot charges. They threaten to cut your rental car if you don't let them tow away your car to auction before they make you and offer. they do drive by phone calls (every 3 days) and almost never provide information requested. Their comps are based on Junkers towed to auction less than half of market value. Total car at 60% of value. Very resistant to escalation requests and if you do escalate the supposed supers or leads or managers are worse.
They are very reluctant to provide full names, contact information and titles. One of the service dept. rep said upon renewal said "you can only check on price quotes once every three years." Whaaat. Run away from this company. The culture is rotten. Finding a good rep has become almost impossible. Getting needed information during an issue is taboo. This use to be a great company but since they pulled out of homeowners in Florida the LLC LM General Insurance has driven the culture into the ground. Shyster organization RUN RUN RUN AWAY.

Trying to get an equitable amount from the company was like trying to get milk from a chicken. I have a classic car and it was involved in a traffic crash. Filing the claim was the easy part. They were quick to look at the damage. However they underestimated the cost of replacement pieces for a car that is 54 yrs old. They were not responding to the requests of the repair place for more money to fix the car properly.

We insure 6 vehicles with them and the 7th, a motorhome, proved less expensive with another company. We also have our homeowners with them and the 1st claim I ever filed involved deer damage. We had to fight very hard to keep them from totaling our van for less than $1000 even though we had a new engine, a fresh coat of paint, etc. We did win, getting the van repaired for about $1700. The 2nd claim-a deer with our car-went very smoothly, repairs done and paid quickly. Sometimes I can reach them immediately and sometimes it takes days to get a return call if I have a question about my policy. On the whole, I'm pleased with Liberty Mutual.

I obviously called Liberty Mutual in the steps of the process as I sold and purchased another house. After a bit of time, I realized my auto insurance had not been transitioned to the new state, at a costly price. Liberty Mutual's response was that speaking to Liberty Mutual about my house is not necessarily speaking to Liberty Mutual and the responsibility was mine to know to call a different department, that this is not letting Liberty Mutual of an address change... HORRIBLE customer service. They went on to say that if the representative with my house had informed me that there were additional steps to the process that they would have been going "above and beyond!" Seriously-!?

I have contacted the claims dept twice now with questions, both times have been some of the worst customer service experiences. The last time a wind storm had blown over a tree in my front yard and it fell on my truck. When I got up that morning and found it I was a little upset. No problem I thought that is what I have insurance for, everything will be OK. WOW was I wrong. When I called up the claims rep at Liberty Mutual she was rude, after explaining what had happened there was no empathy for my situation, she just very curtly let me know that this would be counted as an at fault collision so I may want to think about paying for this myself. "How is this a collision," I asked confused, "A tree fell on my truck in the middle of the night." "A tree collided into your truck," she said.
I have since done some research and discovered that a tree falling on your vehicle is considered a comprehensive claim, and this is just a scare tactic used to get out of paying claims. I will definitely be shopping around and doing a little more research in customer satisfaction, not just looking for a recognized name with a good price. I will be looking for a local agent, a person that has my best interests in mind.

Here is what you will experience: 1) Your claim rep is not in the office today but will call you back within the next 24 hours. BALONEY!!! Their Claim Reps do not even come in the office. There isn't an office. All the work is done through call centers and voicemails. Don’t wait by the phone. 2) "We will send you a check out tomorrow!!!" Yep I failed for that one too. Still waiting and no one seems to know where the check is that was sent out last week.
3) "Can I speak to my claims reps supervisor???" "Sure her name is ____ ____ and she is out of the office today so please leave a message and she will call you back in 24 hrs." BALONEY X 2!!! This person will not call you back at all or return your emails. 4) So I called and waited 93 minutes for the operator to get the Claims Reps Supervisor on the phone. She called me back through SKYPE. She ask me my name and address and while I was telling her the line went dead. 5) I call Customer service again. He was totally not watching where he was going and was obviously 100% at fault. BUT - the adjusted from LM told me I was 20% at fault and would have to pay that much of the damages! I would not accept that and spoke with her supervisor. It took 30 minutes for this person to realize that she could not give me one reason for their decision. She promised to consult with other managers and call me back. Of course, she did not.
It has been close to a month since the accident and these people at this major company are trying to beat me out of $170 from an $844 claim! I receive social security, and $170 is a lot of money to me. I doubt if anyone would miss that much out of petty cash at Liberty Mutual. I actually feel embarrassed for them, quibbling with me over this claim. It's not like we're dealing with a Rolls Royce that was totaled - this is a relatively small claim as auto claims go, but these people just will not take care of business. I was directed by Liberty's claims agent William ** to have an estimate of $2,101.15 to make the repairs. Liberty did not send anyone to look at the damages but returned a different "Estimate of Record" for only $1,216.33. Lehner's Collision in West Branch, Michigan did the estimate which needed $884.82 dollars more to repair the damages than Liberty was willing to pay. I got two more estimates which came in at $2,096.38 and $2,329.33. The two later estimates indicated that the estimate Liberty Mutual rejected was, in fact, fair and not excessive.
After reviewing other reviews posted about Liberty Mutual Insurance it seems that bad customer reviews must be good for their business. I get to choose which insurance company to protect me and my car but I don't get to choose the insurance company who is responsible to repair my car when someone else is responsible for the damage. The agent also tried to tell me that they had to reduce my deductible. There is no deductible on this property damage that happened on private property when my car was parked (not moving) and had no occupants in the car. I would never call Liberty Mutual for any Insurance. The advertising they will get from me will nullify many TV ads that are filled with promises of hot air. I may have to take the driver to "Small Claims" to recover the damages.

As we are retired we put maybe less than 3,000 miles a year on this car. The hike was ridiculous. Not talking few dollars talking hundreds dollars. We were told, even though we don't and haven't had hail/storm damage ever, that there was an increase for both hail/storm damage.
When checking with another company our yearly premiums for both policies went down: Liberty was $2,624 compared with $1,563 for exact same cover and deductibles with another very reputable company. We were astounded in fact in shock, we had ignored the premium increases because it renewed automatically, but this year it was outrageous. Company not apologetic, didn't try offer discount for no claims and loyalty as a customer so we dropped them.

I recently acquired Liberty Mutual Car Insurance and agreed to participate in the Right Track Program. Over the past three months I have to say the program is seriously flawed for the following reasons: The program is based on offensive driving and not defensive driving. It appears that the program is based on rural driving in the countryside. It does not take into account that if you live in a city area where the traffic is more intense. The driver has to drive both as a defensive and offensive driver.
If someone cuts out in front of you, you have to apply the brakes. If you are approaching a traffic light on a busy highway and the light changes to yellow, traveling at 45 to 60 miles an hour, and you are about 200 to 400 feet away you have to stop. This program encourages driver in this program to adopt a bad behavior. That is to run the light and increase the potential for an accident just to avoid a hard stop and points deduction.
If you were to go to the store around the corner or go the gate entrance for your community to meet someone after midnight you are hit with a non-safe driving point deduction. How is this really non-safe driving? This program assumes that you are at home in bed, or an elderly person that should not be driving at night.I went to pick up my daughter from school and traveled 112 miles one way. The system logged the total miles as one trip and I was hit with a credit deduction because I drove 212 miles total, to and from.
This has never happened before where a trip was logged as one trip and points deducted. I have driven this route several times and the distance was not logged as one. It was to and from. However, the program is not consistent. I have driven up to 300 miles one way and no points were deducted. I contacted Liberty Mutual Right Track Team, and I was told that it was right. However, she could not explain why the system totaled the trip miles to and from as one as opposed to the normal process, logged to and from miles separately.
I contacted the company about a hard stop with my car while at the service center. I sent the company the information, not the typical invoice from the service center, related to the hard stop, and it has been over 4 weeks and they have not resolved this issue. This information was verified by their system during the specified date and time period.
I drove my cars over a 4 to 6 week period without any hard stops, rapid acceleration, or night driving, and there was no credit for safe driving. However, when you drive the car to pick up your daughter, without no hard stops, fast acceleration, or night driving they deducted points. Or when I drove the car to the store or to the gate entrance to my house they would deduct points.
When I signed up for the car insurance I was quoted a price, and it was later revealed that it was approximately 15% more than what was quoted. I was told that they could not accept the information from my previous company regarding an accident where we were not at fault. Tell you anything just to get a sale. Again I have to say that this process is not realistic and does not take into account real-world driving. It is flawed. If you live in the countryside and the maximum speed limit is 30 then it would apply. I have been driving over 40 years and have not been involved in unsafe driving practices. A very clean record.

They did not want to cancel, saying that, as a "senior citizen" I needed a second approval to cancel.
I knew that was BS too, and that didn't work well for them, as I simply accessed my bank account and stopped the payments. I have used Liberty Mutual as my auto and homeowner carrier for 20 years. I filed an auto claim for the first time since using Liberty, and, by far, the worst experience imaginable. In a nutshell, my truck sustained bumper damage in a hit-and-run. I filed my claim, and Liberty sent my truck to one their alleged "accredited body shops" because Liberty said I could not use my own mechanic. As a result of this shop's negligence and poor workmanship, the hood was damaged while in this shop's care. When I returned my truck for the body to see the damage to my hood, they yelled at me and tried to convince me my truck was in a front-end collision. I left this shop shaken because I was alone, a female, and probably assumed to be too stupid to notice the shop's negligence.
The Liberty appraiser did agree there was a lot of damage to my hood that never existed before. Therefore, for a second time, I had to take time off from work to return my truck to the shop so they could fix the damaged hood and get another rental. During this process, I emailed and called Liberty Mutual 4 times with my concerns and to advise them I would in no way be responsible for any out-of-pocket expenses, including a rental car, due to this second incident. When I returned the rental, I had to pay my own money, even though I called my agent at Liberty 3 times, even while at the rental car company.
Never once, did a human being actually call me to address my concerns or reimbursed me for the money I paid for the 2nd rental. I sent an email to my agent's manager, and did not receive a response from him either. Furthermore, when calling LIberty, the voicemail gave me a litany of directions on how to download their app or use their website. I was never able to make contact with a live person at Liberty in this age of technology. I have never had a more unresponsive and unprofessional experience with any company in my entire life. Please save yourself the aggravation and shop around for another insurance company.

My husband and I had 3 cars insured by Safeco/LM and one of them, my 08 Accord was deemed totaled after my wreck. I didn't have a problem with that as I spoke with the mechanic at the body shop and he encouraged me to just have them take it away but also told me to get a certain amount from LM for it. Before I even had a conversation with a claims rep regarding price, LM just mails you an agreement that gives you the dollar amount they are willing to give to you for your totaled car. This amount comes with no market research whatsoever. They just hope that you take their low-ball number and walk away from your car. So my fight began.
I went through 2 claims reps before I actually got to speak to a "total damage claim rep" and she never answered my actual calls, just emails. So I emailed this gal saying that I wasn't going to accept the $6600 they wanted to give me. I could not go down the street and purchase my exact same Accord with the exact same features for $6,600. So I told her that their price was unacceptable and that I wanted to see their market research of how they were pricing Accords in the Columbus, OH market.
It wasn't until I demanded to see this research that they actually mailed to me another Agreement with another new higher price they were willing to give me, $7200. Now where they made another mistake was that they sent me 12 Accords priced in my city but they only highlighted the 3 lowest priced ones. I simply added all 12 prices up and divided that by 12 and it was an average of $8200. Once I presented this to my new claims rep, she stopped responding to me altogether. So I then had to go back to one of my original 2 claims reps and get this gal's manager's phone number. After having an interesting conversation with him to say the least, I had another Agreement/Contract in the mail with now my new price offer of $8400 which is exactly what my car was worth after my driving it for a year.
The bottom line is, no customer should be treated like this and given the runaround but these insurance companies just want to give you a low-ball price for your totaled car and hope that you don't push back in any way. So my advice to all consumers out there, don't accept these b.s. low-balled prices and start pushing back by telling these claims reps that it's unacceptable and that they need to provide you with all the market research on cars in your area and then start negotiating. Keep asking to speak to their manager if you have to and keep fighting the good fight. In the end, after I received my final claims check for $1,800 more than what they wanted to give me at the beginning of this process, we canceled our 3 car policies with LM and ended up going with Erie Insurance and saving $950/year... Seriously!

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I would never buy insurance from a company that has such stupid advertising. "You had your car for three years. You named him Brad. You LOVED Brad." Every time that annoying ad comes on the TV I either mute it or switch to a different channel...!! Who on earth names a car, let alone the name BRAD?? LOL. Also, one of my family members had Liberty Mutual, and they had nothing but nightmares with this company after they had an accident which was NOT their fault.

I purchased car and home insurance online on 7/11/17. After going through a lengthy process, I was directed to pay for the auto insurance before paying for the home insurance. When I paid for the auto, I was then told that I didn't meet their guidelines for home insurance. That didn't bother me as much as not being told until after I had paid for the auto, there was ample time for them to inform me. Since I wanted to have the same carrier for both, I called to cancel my auto. I was told that I would not be charged by Meddie (or Maddie, the connection was fuzzy) for my auto.
When I checked with my bank on 7/12/17, I had been charged. I spoke with Morgan on 7/12/17 and was told, "We HAVE to take out the first payment, but since you cancelled, we will hold the money for 14 days, and then will send the refund to your bank." When I asked why: I was told I would not be charged, and why did you take out the payment when I cancelled in less than 5 minutes; I was told, "We HAVE to take out the money, it's the law". I knew there wasn't a law that stated that, but since I was getting nowhere, I hung up the phone and waited for my refund. I received an email on 7/25/17 that my refund was "in progress" and that it would take 5-7 business days (7-9 regular days) for my refund to reach my account. I received another email on 8/1/17, again stating that my refund was "in progress" and would take 5-7 business days (7-9 regular days) for my refund to be credited to my account.
I called and was told that "we have tried 3 times to credit your account, but your bank keeps refusing the transaction". I informed the lady that I had spoken to my bank and that no attempts had been made to credit my account from her company. Her reply was, "We have made 3 attempts and they have been refused. by your bank. You can give me your account number and we can try again. It will take 10-14 business days (14-18 regular days) for the transaction to be completed." I asked why it takes so long for a refund when they can take the money out of my account in less than 5 minutes, to which she replied, "You obviously don't understand all of the work that it takes to refund money."
After some back and forth, I realized that I was getting nowhere and informed her that I was contacting the BBB, my state's AG and Commissioner of Insurance. She then informed me, "Well, you can request a check be mailed to you. It will take 7-10 business days (9-14regular days) for it to reach you." Liberty Mutual has now had my money (I am sure they are making money from interest in some account) for 29 days, and I may not see my refund for another 6 days, if they actually send the check as promised).

I have been a Liberty Mutual Auto & Home Insurance customer for two years. I have been happy with the promptness of their service, especially regarding my auto insurance claims: one major (in January 2016), and one minor (in May 2017). I just had an experience that has turned me off of them forever. I received a call from an unknown number this morning. When I called back, it went to a patient advocacy center, where my advocate informed me I had a past-due medical bill from January 2016. I knew immediately it was from the serious car accident, but was confused why I had not heard anything in 20 months about this bill. My advocate told me that my auto insurance (Liberty Mutual) was not paying the bill due to "not having a claim"... even though I had filed a claim, and my car had needed two weeks in the shop, which LM paid for.
When I called LM, a snotty customer service representative told me that I had only filed a car repair claim, not a personal injury claim. Well, yes, but I was never told those were two separate claims (so much for LM 'walking you through the process'), and the ER doctor had told me I just had bruising and muscle strain... certainly nothing severe enough to report on its own! So, instead of contacting me through the online portal, email, or phone number about this, LM just kept denying to pay my hospital bill.
I had no idea this was going on, given that the hospital was billing LM directly. Instead of using common sense (hmm, an ER visit the day after a highway car accident... probably linked), or even due diligence (a repeated bill... maybe we should contact the customer), LM used this obscurity to try and weasel out of paying a bill that is their responsibility. After all---what do I pay my auto insurance premium for every month, if not this exact scenario?? I am so disappointed at their underhanded tactics and disregard for their customers (what if this affected my credit score? Or I became liable for a very, very over-due bill in the future?) that I will be canceling my insurance with them immediately and finding an honest company to insure me.

I was in a wreck a month ago and am still awaiting approval from Liberty Mutual claims department. I've had 3 different claims representatives. I've submitted the information they've requested several times. They don't answer my emails and when I talk to my representative they aren't keeping the deadlines they tell me. They've been very friendly to talk to but am tired of BS they keep telling me.
