I was given a non-renewal notice after two minor incidents that was less than a $2,000.00 payout, after my deductibles. Why do we have insurance if we can't use it without fear of being dropped? I would expect a rate increase, but a non-renewal?

I’ve had LM for over 4 years. File a claim for my house one winter and my insurance went to over $9000. Just like that. They keep raising your insurance if you file any claim to try to get back what they paid. I called to inform them that I was going to terminate my insurance if they didn’t reduce it but they didn’t do anything to lower it. The agent just said she understood why I would want to switch to another company.

Before I switch to Liberty Mutual I had insurance that was going down a few dollars a year. I switch to Liberty Mutual saved myself about $110 a year. I've been with them around five years. My insurance is gone up from $1,200 a year now 2064 a year. Up $850 in 5 years and for no reason. Just increase every year. In five years I've put barely 40,000 miles on my truck since I've been with this insurance company but they ring me out I wish I had stayed with my old Insurance Company. Their rate increases are a rip-off. I'm 62. Go nowhere. If I'd stayed with my old insurance company I'd be saving $700 a year at least.

My car was totaled and the other party is 100% responsible for the loss, however, Liberty company adjuster Porsche ** is making unfair settlement. I believe she is negotiating in bad faith. She forgot that she is responsible under the law to make a good faith offer of settlement. I will be taking my case to the state insurance department and will switch to another insurance provider.

Had an accident right across the border in Mexico and Liberty Mutual policy stated that they would cover you if you stayed within 25 miles of the border and the trip was less than 10 days. Living close to the border, you usually take daily trips for shopping or food. I asked Liberty if I was covered and they stated that as long as you stayed within 25 miles of the border and it was a trip less than 10 days we would be covered.

After having an accident, Liberty was contacted and they stated we were covered and everything would be taken care of. After a few months of them telling us we was covered, when it was time to pay they back out and state that we're not covered. They state an additional insurance should have been purchase so that they would cover it. So what is the point of them covering my claim if I need to purchase additional coverage? Wouldn't that just make sense to just say, "No you're not covered and you need to buy additional insurance?" That is the logical thing to do. Why say you're covered and then when it's time to pay, you renege on your word and now you find an exclusion to weasel your way out of paying? Horrible service. I expected much better from a big insurance company. Won't be using them again.

LM is way more expensive than other companies. (I have Geico now) My driving record is perfect and I found out w/ LM I was paying so much more than others I talked to. I didn't even have collision! I tried to call to discuss getting my policy down in cost. If you call too close to closing hours for the call center you will get hung up on and no call back..cool. And they give no options to get policy cost down. The worse experience with them is when they totally screwed up my bill by forwarding a $400+ balance over months after my policy was renewed from before it was, that had already been paid. So $400+ added on top of my current bill balance. They admitted it was their error. Although trying to get it fixed was painful and took days/hours.

On the final day of trying to resolve it, I spoke with many reps as they kept transferring me because they didn't know how to fix it exactly. The worst rep was a "resolution specialist" named Patty who wasted so much time putting me on hold, giving misinformation and resolving nothing! She said I didn't owe the balance but then when she didn't know how to fix it I guess, then said I did owe it! Even told me to go to another insurance company if I didn't want to pay (what pay twice?)..wow. I asked for a manager and she said none were available (of course) but she could have one call me back...in 24-48hrs!!? She didn't care or think to try to get me a call back sooner, knowing that the incorrect bill was due the next day. I said I need a call back asap today please! And she just said with a snarky attitude, "I'm sorryy but yeahh it probably won't be todayy.. 24-48 hrs, anything else I can help you with?". Ha obviously you can't or won't help me, very frustrating.

I hung up with her, called right back and luckily I got someone w/ some intelligence named Christine or Kristina. She pretty much right away was able to see what happened, understood my frustration and apologized. She was able to fix and resolve the issue with ease. She was great and we need more like her who actually care to help customers and have the ability to do so. She should be a resolution specialist instead of Patty who was useless. I also never did get a call back from a manager. Even if he/she saw the issue was resolved it would have been nice. So If you get a rep that won't help..just call back until you get to someone that will.

I was using Liberty Mutual Insurance l for my 12 years old car. In one day, for no reason, I got the email that the price on my car insurance will be increased (JUST NOTICE): from 180$ per month up to 255$. There are no car accidents on my end, I used to drive the car for 5 years. Right after I got the email, I called the sale department and asked for explanation, they didn’t know why it was increased, but promised to make it as low as 130$ per month. The next day I checked the policy, it was still not updated. The second call to sale person on the next day gave the following information: “The system takes 1 month to update your plan with payments“. Okay, I told myself. After one month nothing changed and the price remained to be the same (no changes in policy and price).

Liberty Mutual is complete robbery and scam. I literally can afford a new car for the price of the insurance they gave me per month (lease car). The representative of the company doesn’t hold their promises, which I consider as a scam. Please note, that my insurance doesn’t not even include any accidents coverage (only if someone crashed my car and it’s their fault...) NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH LIBERTY MUTUAL.

It took me an hour to file a claim with Liberty Mutual. I had to call in five times because I was I hung up on during the call process. I had to continue to give the representatives the same information over and over and would be "disconnected" right before I was given the claim number. I would never receive a call back even after asking at the beginning of every call because I told them my calls keep getting dropped. I am home and have never had poor call quality in my area.

I had just got off the phone with my insurance company and didn't have any issue. The call drops were definitely intentional from Liberty Mutual and I suspect a technique they use to prevent people from filing claims. I just got done filing and don't expect to have a good experience with this claim even though this guy hit my parked car and is a pretty straightforward claim. I am sure if my future experience is anything like filing this claim it will not be good. I will update this periodically.

I was reasonably happy with Liberty Mutual's automobile insurance until I received my renewal notice this year. My annual rate was increased from $850 to over $1600 annually over the prior year. I did file one claim in which I backed into another car in a parking lot and did minor bumper damage to that car and none to my car. The total claim paid out was about $850.00. When I spoke to a policy clerk about the doubling of my insurance I was told it was due to the above claim and that this was the reason they re-evaluated my "risk factor". I have had a perfect driving record for over 20 years and no major claims over a lifetime of driving. I am 73 years old and in excellent health. The agent told me it was not possible to review the underwriting rate increase and that all he would do is look and see if I might receive additional policy discounts. There were none available.

The only thing I can assume is that the huge increase is due to my age. Age discrimination? I would feel better if I knew my risk-factor was actuarily proven. But since I was able to immediately obtain the same policy limits through Progressive Universal Insurance after providing my age and the claim information from Liberty Mutual, it doesn't seem likely that it is based on sound actuarial analysis. I also have a homeowner's insurance policy with Liberty Mutual but rest assured that I will change my insurance company for this insurance as well.

We were involved in an accident that was caused by another driver. That company issued a very small check for the repairs of a dent and scrape ($400). We contacted our claims rep asking for help and representation. Claims do not take your call, you have to leave a message, and they call back in 24 hours. we played phone tag for several days. We asked them for representation and support in the accident, because we were not getting proper help from the other insurance company. Our claims adjust was going on vacation and said she would help us as long as we didnt cash the check.

20 mins after our conversation I called back with additional info. I got the backup person, I gave detailed accounting of the accident and info about witnesses. I was told they would follow up and get a phone call back. 15 days later we had not received word, so I called back. The adjust told me they closed the case after speaking with the other insurance company. NO callback or anything. I told them we were disappointed that we had not received a callback. She apologized but started acting put out.

I asked if Liberty Mutual could help us with the repairs and not have our rates raised. She started to explain curtly that there would be an increase because we would be using their services. Summary: They are curt, rude, and treat you like you are the issue. They dont want to help. Insurance should be a smooth process, what does it matter if the agent that sold you the policy is polite and friendly, if the claims side of things is an absolute mess. S **Stay away.**

I knew their price was higher but I believed they would have better coverage until I had to claim a glass repair for my Mercedes Benz. The quote from the mercedes dealer is high, of course. But Liberty Mutual is only willing to cover for the low price they find on the market. However, if the repair is not done by mercedes dealer, then it will break the warranty from mercedes. As a result, I have to pay most of the repair cost myself. This company is not honest.

Received auto renewal last month and a form letter stating LM was charging me more than our state insurance commission approved. It was over 10 percent increase. When I questioned the company no one at LM could tell me why. The best excuse I received was, "There are more people in your area and more claims are being paid out". BTW, I live in a rural community. Cancelled with LM and immediately received 3 other quotes from other insurers: all beating my lowest LM quote. After canceling LM charged me a penalty. Suggestion: review your quote each year with LM. They do not seem to care about keeping their good customers.

When we realize the past few years that our rates were going up-and-up with the same vehicles and no claims we started to search for another company. We got even better insurance for much less price with State Farm. When I canceled the policy with Liberty Mutual they said there would be no refund as we had been paying back 28 days and ahead only 2 days, which doesn't make sense to me at all because if you had an accident 5 days after you paid your premium the insurance company would be paid so in essence you wouldn't be covered by insurance. But they say not the case. You're covered and you still have to pay a month up-to-date at cancellation. I was a customer of 26 years with this company. 5 teen drivers and no accidents. I left because of the astronomical prices. Now down to 2 teen drivers I called for a quote. 6400$. The reason for it being double of what I pay now is that the man says I have 12 claims. When I asked him to explain what you mean by 12 claims, I have never made a claim. His response was “he didn’t have time for this.”

Apparently when you use their roadside assistance that YOU pay extra for it is considered a claim. Which we only had 1. And 2 windshield chips apparently are also a claim-which you pay extra for. (I got this information from another company that I shopped prices with.) So the crooked liar got all huffy with me when I kept asking, "WHAT CLAIMS?" First his response was 10 claims then it went up to 12 because he was trying to justify 6400.00. The next three insurance I shopped came in at 2700 for the year. So who is Liberty Mutual kidding? They are a joke and their customer service is even worse. Save yourself the headaches and shop somewhere else.

Since then I have repeatedly called, but the adjuster is never actually at their desk, I eventually got the manager's number who was also not at their desk. Today I called and finally got an answer, where I was immediately put on hold, then told it was the other company taking too long. Even if that were so I was at no point given any kind of update and left completely in the dark. You should avoid them like the plague, they are a terrible company to work with in any capacity.

I had Liberty Mutual auto insurance for five years. But recently found out they've changed to a different business model. They now have fewer brick-n-mortar service centers but have 'consolidated' these centers to call centers scattered throughout the country. So, that good old "neighborhood insurance agents" setting is gone! Now, customers of Liberty Mutual would be served by unknown person with a headset on his/her head providing the service through a computer screen. So, that face-to-face interaction and the accountability that would come with it are all gone now. Now, the service agents would and could make all kinds of promises to their customers but never follow-up or have any obligation to fulfill those promises. So, Liberty Mutual is now an insurance service run by a bunch of robots that have been programmed to only accept money, much like a broken vending machine!

Never ever deal with Liberty Mutual insurance. Anyone that works with or for this insurance company represents the company. With that being said they have very poor communication skills and a lack of customer service. After filing an auto claim it was hard to speak with the adjuster, even the manager. No one returned calls or emails when requested. After an entire week of my car sitting at an auto body shop for an estimate because their power was down they had the nerve to call me after I made several calls and email request to try and total out my car.

They allowed this dealership to add all of these charges so that they could get a big check for my repairs without even asking me if all those repairs were even needed. I tried for days to get a response from the adjuster Sardar and his manager. His manager never returned my calls and he returned my calls whenever he felt like it. I ended up cancelling the claim because I knew my car wasn’t totaled and I also cancelled my instance policy with them. If you do buy a policy with Liberty don’t expect the claims process to be handled professionally.

Been a customer of Liberty Mutual for a little over a year and unfortunately had two accidents, neither of which were my fault, no tickets for speeding or otherwise, never missed paying my premiums as I was set up on auto pay. I recently learned that they canceled my insurance at renewal time without even notifying me. They attempted to withdraw the money from my bank account seven days earlier than required or given authorization to do so! And the money they were trying to take from my account happen to be for renewal that I didn’t even authorize renewing although they say they otherwise. Now because they canceled my service I have been told I now owe them money in the amount of $586 for the months that they insured me that I didn’t pay! They say they sent me notices I never got a damn thing! They can’t explain why and have no returned mail noted in their system either!

However, they continued to take money out of my account for the renters insurance policy that I started at the same time as the car insurance policy (renewal was needed to continue as well and I was never notified nor did I auth it). So when I called to cancel the renters, I learned of the auto policy lapse and they said, “Oh yeah. We’re still taking money from your account for that. Let’s go ahead and cancel it today!” Now I’m pretty sure they owe me money! So when I spoke to the customer service they sucked and nobody could help me. Now in order to renew my insurance that lapsed that I didn’t even know was lapsed they want to charge me 100% down and they raised my rates from $158 monthly to $458 per month for two accidents that were not my fault and they’ve been recorded to show they were.

An attorney review of this is worth it because bad business practices and poor ethics unfortunately cause problems for people that think they can count on others to do what they’re supposed to do. Liberty Mutual is a big company and they make a lot of darn money. You can’t tell me that they don’t have enough money to send renewal notices out or to pick up the damn phone and call their customers. Look online people! There are hundreds of complaints that are exactly like this one so if you have a Liberty Mutual you might want to get out of your policy now before you have a problem and if you don’t have them then don’t choose to go with them! Because unfortunately in the end you’re going to pay a price like all the rest of us have!

The person causing the accident pleaded with husband not to report accident to insurance, which seems to me, there is some issue with his driving or insurance. The man also lied and said someone hit him, another problem.

I moved to a new state in 2017 - and I informed Liberty Mutual of the move. They never re-wrote my liability policy to cover the new state. I was overcharged for 2 years! When I discovered the error, it took them 4 months to return my money. It required phone calls every 2 weeks for 4 months to get my refund. At every step, they would not provide a name so I could re-connect with the same person - they were all anonymous know-nothings. I even complained to the "President's Advisory Team" - what a joke that was. They have lost a 30 year loyal customer - because they forgot what customer service was.

Liberty Mutual rates are very low. That is because they don't pay their claims. We had our RV damaged while camping. I filed a claim and waited. I sent pictures and waited. They sent out an appraiser and waited. They sent the SAME appraiser out again... And waited. I could never get anyone to return my calls. After 4 months they DENIED my claim. I finally had to consult an attorney. After following his advice, they agreed that it was storm related. I switched just as soon as my policy came up for renewal. Living in Texas, I couldn't imagine them refusing to pay for a house that was damaged by hail or something worse, but I'm sure they will try.

We had been with Liberty Mutual auto insurance since 1999. Overall, their service was prompt when we had to make a claim (ONCE in 19 years), but when we recently got a quote to add another (used) vehicle and a teenage driver, we were SHOCKED at how much the premium would go up - and we were even living in a cheaper state (i.e. NOT California). We immediately called a few others and found a quote for the SAME COVERAGE for LESS THAN HALF of what Liberty wanted to charge - and not from a cut-rate insurance company, either. We called and canceled Liberty coverage IMMEDIATELY. After 19 years of loyalty, you'd think Liberty would work a little harder to keep us. But no. Nothing. I will never recommend Liberty Mutual auto insurance to anyone because it's clear they believe in ripping off customers, even the loyal ones. Better rates are out there.

You never know how good or bad an insurance company is, until you have a claim. I am still dealing with Liberal Mutual, for a very simple claim, that should have been wrapped up in a week or two. (It was a simple accident. The other driver hit my car while I was stopped at a light. My car was totaled, and carried away. There is no disagreement on what happened.)

After two months, they finally have read the official accident report, and they are really to look at the damage to the car. The last communication was, that they can't find the car, and so they assume that they don't need to cover the claim. I have found that simple communication with LM is impossible. They do not answer the phone, and do not return messages, or respond to texts. They put up a wall, so that they don’t have to respond or take action. At this rate, it will be several more months before this is finally settled. It’s no wonder that people get lawyers for dealing with insurance companies. Library Mutual is great at taking your money, and terrible at settling claims.

Liberty Mutual is has done a fantastic job of hiding the truth, backing a dishonest client, failing to communicate, and honor any ability to do the right thing. I was struck by one of their insured, who was clearly at fault (ran a stop sign), forced to go through the mediation process to have them cited for fault and now manage the long battle for the diminished value of my vehicle. This company will pull out all the stops, use all the right words, and take any action necessary to protect their funds. Beware, they do not have the best interest at heart when it comes to performing their main focus.. being an insurance company. I have all documentation needed and they will create a situation through time & money to force you to bend to what they believe is fair. This company is not reputable and is very good at talking in circles and avoiding their obligations.

A couple of weeks later I called to report a windshield claim, service tech could not identify my policy but didn't say anything else. When the glass company arrived they said that the claim was denied.

I called to check and was told that my policy was canceled. I was offered a reinstatement, HOWEVER, because I had called with the windshield claim two days prior, I was DENIED reinstatement. I was told that it would be sent to the help desk but could take 5-7 days and told I should find other insurance. After years of service and an impeccable driving record, this was how I was treated. The first person that helped me offered me new insurance at 12,500 per year. The second person that helped me was cordial and tried, but Liberty loopholes were too many. The valance below the front bumper was damaged and holes to the cooler and radiator ripped out with coolant leaking. It did not look at all that bad and was drivable except for fluid leaking and I worked on cars when I was younger. They gave me an offer based on what they claimed similar vehicles but did not follow their own guidelines as to distance.

I called every dealer on the list and either the car did not exist or it was being sold at 2-3 times what the report claimed it was being offered at. They told me that their program determined what the dealer would accept. I was basically told, "Take our offer or hire an attorney and an appraiser." I needed to get this resolved and backed down. Today I went to COSTCO and my car was sitting in the lot. I waited and spoke to the new owner. He bought it from the BMW dealer whose body shop I took the car to after the accident. They can rest assured, I will gather as much info/reviews related to their business practices, and sit with my state reps and news agencies to start laying some very heavy focus upon them. Perhaps I can manage to get a class action suit against them, and/or start the ball rolling toward ending their ability to conduct business in my state.

Maybe it is time for their business practices to come around to bite them in the pocket. And bite deep. Either way, it will all end up costing them far more than it would have for them to simply pay out a reasonable settlement for their customer's fault, which was fully admitted in the accident report, and to the on scene officer. There is no threat here, but a solid promise, as I will begin tomorrow. I am sure my reps will view this as a very good subject to get behind if enough people have had such problems with this company.

I started a policy with Liberty Mutual in August of 2018. At first I thought they were a good insurance company. My rates were good and no problems with them and then I remember I got the right track to plug in the car and then I sent it back and I noticed one month that my insurance went up a little bit and then I noticed the next month my insurance doubled. At first I thought they were making me pay for the right track but then when I called they told me that it was because I was on autopay which they were going on my credit card every month and taking money out but I never signed up for it and I think that's a little weird because every month I went on their website and paid my policy with a prepaid card but they kept telling me because of the auto-pay and they tried to get money out one-time which they tried early so they said that they had to put me on a different payment plan and that was in February so which was my 6 month on their insurance.

They said they had to up my monthly payment so which made me pay one month or less but I don't understand how it doubled and then I remember paying it and then I didn't pay the late fees so they canceled me for $28. Then I was trying to get another insurance and I found out that I was not on auto pay from the beginning and when I called three different people from customer service gave me three different reasons why my policy went up and I went through all the paperwork and everything that I've signed with them nowhere on there does it say they could go and we charge my credit card every month.

Then when I had asked him today for a copy of it they forged it and emailed me but it had no signature on it, no initials on it and even had the wrong credit card number from the one that I paid with on August 2019 to start the policy and then the more and more I think about it I'm wondering if they didn't up my insurance because of the fact of the plug-in of right track. I didn't get no discount but it seems like when they got that thing back that's when my insurance doubled. They never sent me any paperwork on anything about changing my policy plans or my payment plans or anything. I only found out when I went on the website to make monthly payment. I'm curious if anyone else has ever had this problem with them.

We have been loyal customers of Liberty Mutual for 5 years and at first, they saved us a lot of money but we had to use those stupid trackers in our cars that doesn't take into account other stupid drivers who suddenly stop in front of you and make you brake hard to AVOID an accident.

They did raise our rates a little each year as expected without any claims but then my older teen/young adult driver on our policy while still in college got ONE speeding ticket for barely driving over the speed limit. It wasn't even a claim they had to pay out on but they still increased our rates more than 200%! Their theory is if you get a speeding ticket, even a few miles over the limit, (and really who hasn't sped once in their lives?) apparently warrants an outrageous premium increase because you're a bad driver even though getting the speeding ticket never caused a claim or cost Liberty Mutual a penny to pay out a claim. They say they offer accident forgiveness which has to cost them something to shell out and won't raise rates but what about a speeding ticket forgiveness because it actually cost them nothing but they raises rates anyway? Beyond stupid. We are in process of looking for something else.

I took an Auto Insurance cum Renters Insurance policy from Liberty Mutual and spent hours of time in the phone call to clearly understand the coverage and deductible details. After a great telephonic experience with the officer, I gave my credit card details to get charged for my policy. The problem started from here. First, the policy premium amount told to me is $623 for six months towards both Auto and Renters insurance, but they charged $641. I have received an email to sign the policy. When I register in Liberty Mutual and view the policy, to my surprise the coverage discussed is not provided. The uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist coverage have been removed from my policy.

In addition to that, they have raised the premium and also added towing amount in the policy which was never communicated. When I saw my renters policy, the deductible amount which I opted was $250 but it was showing as $500. I called up Liberty Mutual customer care service and they keep transferring to one another officer to handle the case and it finally went to senior account executive Robert. When I put forth this case and explain the mismatch in the policy coverage and premium amount shown in the paper with the quote, he said the premium would still go up if I add uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist coverage.

That was a disgusting experience for me to hear after spending hours of discussion with Liberty Mutual representative and paying for the policy and eventually canceled the policy with immediate effect. I don't know how on earth their insurance underwriters cancel something which was on the quote (that was provided by their representatives) and still charges more premium? I was rear ended by a guy who is insured by Liberty Mutual, I had twin 6 month old babies in my van. I was honest, none of us were hurt but from day one it has been a nightmare dealing with Liberty Mutual, losing time from work and hours and hours on the phone dealing with trying to get my vehicle repaired. Here's what people should know, outgoing calls are NOT recorded and the staff CLEARLY know it and are rude, obnoxious and say things that are not true. There was not ONE dealership listed for repairs, only small garages.

In the state of Massachusetts, any vehicle that has more than 20,000 miles they will only put on salvaged parts, not new!!! Your insurance company doesn't tell you that. I had a claims rep tell me that they would not pay for the rental until the dealership had the parts they would need in stock. The estimate done by their adjuster was $1800, the actual cost was $3200, almost double so how could they have the parts in stock without me dropping off the car for the dealership to evaluate what I needed. If I hadn't challenged them I would have been catching the bus with twin babies! My car was shaking after the accident and they refused to pay to see why, stating it was not because of the accident, even though no one from service had looked at the van or taken it for a test drive. I had to agree to pay for the evaluation, it was found that my wheels were unbalanced, the cost $79.95!

When the guy rear ended me, we were stopped at a red light and not moving and I had my foot on the break and my van took the whole impact of the accident or he would have rammed me into the car in front and we would all have had whiplash at a minimum. They refused to pay the $79.95 for the rebalancing of my wheels, even though my van wasn't shaking prior to the accident and I had had a full service and an alignment done 11/3/18. So on principle I am going to now sue the guy who hit me in small claims court for not only for the $79.95, my lost time from work and the hours spent on the phone getting this taken care of. I dealt with people from the Westborough, MA office.

I'm going to spare them the embarrassment of naming them, it's enough to say that this office and its employees know there is no accountability for their actions, even managers don't return calls, have their secretaries return calls, who then promise to get back to you and don't or managers who clearly are not doing their job and then attack when confronted. I've called adjusters at 3pm asking for a call back and only got called at 10am the next day, probably took off early and came in late, while I wait by the phone, so I can get my vehicle made whole.

To conclude, if you are hit by someone who is insured by Liberty Mutual, you need to fight, fight, fight, get the name of their manager and if they don't respond go above to their manager. If you are insured you may want to rethink how this company treats people. Accidents are called accidents because there is no intent when it happens but there is certainly intent when you have to deal with this company and it is to pay out as little as possible and do the minimum. Thank God I have Travelers, they are amazing, never had an issue and when they say they will call you back they do! Today is 2/28/19 still don't have my vehicle back!

Police report reflects damage. Liberty Mutual customer denies they hit me since no damage shows on the front of their car. I explained time and time again that I have damage to my car and the police report reflects this. They do not care, rep was rude, unprofessional and was bothered by the fact that I would submit a claim. I am unsure how a rear ended accident results in no fault of their client? I would never recommend a company that treats others who are not insured with them this way!

In June of 2018 I paid in full for two cars. Later in the month my ex wife also signed with Liberty Mutual Insurance and she paid for only six months. The problem is that she wanted separate policy since she had a different address. But she was added to the existent policy which belong to me. When the six months expired she called to move her car to her own policy separate from mine. She was told that it was not possible and she ended up taking off her car out of the policy. By this time is January which is a few month over the six months that she paid.

Now I get billed for that portion when I already paid for the full year. I called them and argued with them that I shouldn't be responsible for that. I told them, "Bill her not me." Well I argued enough that I decided to cancel the policy, and when they calculated my refund it was going to be the small amount of $159 which was suppose to go to me. But to insult me even more, they refunded the money to my ex-wife credit card. They claim that it was done like that because her credit card was the last credit card used to make a payment. In other words I got cheated with six months of coverage for my vehicles. This is a total nightmare for anyone in a similar situation. Chose wisely and stay away from Liberty Mutual.

When we call to complain it will take about 20 minutes to get that premium reduced to where it gets much closer to the old premium. If you don't sign that new deal they will charge you the inflated premium. They will bombard you with bogus excuses. Contact your state's department of insurance and finances to complain about this. I have been a Liberty Mutual customer since 1997 with auto and home coverage. In my incident I traveled on the Interstate very early one morning. It was still dark. Several vehicles including mine, tried unsuccessfully, to avoid debris on the roadway. I called Liberty Mutual to advise of the damage. The agent told me this would fall under my comprehensive coverage and would be taken care of. I was transferred to a claims adjuster who told me that the incident fell under my collision coverage and would cause a point to be added to my policy and a significant increase to my premium. I was shocked, disappointed and angered.

I had not had a report of a collision since my coverage began. I had two reported "Sand-damage" claims since I started my policies. I asked just how long a customer had to go incident-free before they could receive a repair service without being penalized?? An agent told me that "This is just the way insurance works." That answer did not help things. The agent then stated that it was very easy to go "From Wonderful to Terrible with one incident." I used to be very boastful and proud to tell others that I had great insurance coverage with a company that actually cared about their customers. WRONG! I am no longer a believer that there is an insurance company that values a customer's loyalty and the fact that a customer values their insurer enough not to make frivolous claims. I ask these questions to any and all who will read this? WHAT IS THE TRUE PURPOSE OF INSURANCE?? It seems that it is simply a money-making machine!

So we are all aware of the commercials this company airs. I mean they are over aired. One particular gentleman can be seen throwing his wallet in the water. Mid as well since that’s what’s you'll be doing if you insure through them. I was quoted $435 a month for full coverage on a 2019 Honda Civic SI. Seriously. That’s more than the car payment would be. I obviously decided to get two more quotes. The 2nd quote was $303 per month with same amount of coverage. The 3rd and final quote was $186 per month with the same amount of coverage as the first two were.

As annoying as I find “Flo”, it’s a no brainer who I’m going with for insurance. It’s boggles my mind how insurance companies get away with overcharging people. My driving record is perfect. No points, no accidents that I’ve ever been responsible for either. The outrageous amount of money this company quoted me is FUBARE’D. I just can’t with good faith ever recommend this company to anyone. Furthermore I just don’t get how they are still in business. Oh wait, 100 yrs of ripping consumers off is how!

They also lied about what was in the police report. They're saying that the police officer and their driver both said my son didn't have his headlights on. That is not what is in the police report. Their driver lied and told Liberty Mutual that my son didn't have his headlights on. In the police report, it says that their driver told the police officer that his headlights weren't on. Beware of this provider - they are seditious and untrustworthy. Almost everyone with whom I've been able to speak has been understanding and delightful, and agrees with me that our claim should be paid. Unfortunately some Customer Service Supervisor named Danielle, hiding behind the veil of corporate bureaucracy, decided that I'm both lying about never receiving their emails and am so stupid that I would purchase insurance, switch from Geico to Liberty Mutual, and not care if they didn't cover me.

I'm currently unemployed, having been laid off twice in the past year by companies that seemed stable but got acquired by new Investors who subsequently dissolved my department. Liberty Mutual is a multi-billion-dollar company who secretly stripped me of my coverage and is now leaving me on the hook for almost $15k. I never understood the whole “pain and suffering” aspect of lawsuits until now, but this has me very upset – and my chest still hurts from the seat belt crushing it 9 days ago.

Here's what happened: I got in a car accident 9 days ago when it was raining slush on the Jersey Turnpike. One of us hydroplaned and I hit a woman from behind, so I'm technically at fault, though the cop was so reasonable and understanding that he gave me the lightest ticket (no points) that he could, because he realized it was the kind of accident that's unavoidable when it occurs.

I called the claim in from the cab of the tow truck about an hour later, after EMTs gave me and the woman clear bills of health. The Customer Service Representative (CSR) with whom I spoke then informed me - for the first time - that I didn't have collision or comprehensive coverage on my leased vehicle. Since it was leased from Hyundai Motor Finance, that makes me personally liable for the full remaining value of the car = $14,975+, instead of just my $1k deductible, which is that for which I should be accountable. Apparently Liberty Mutual wanted me to send them pictures of the car - a NY State requirement, they say, called a photographic inspection. Of course had I known it was required I would have provided it. I never encountered that before - I only moved to NY State this year.

They claimed to have sent 4 letters to my home - none of which were received. When I asked for copies they weren't able to send any. They only sent a copy of my original contract and a copy of the notice indicating that they were stripping me of my coverage - which was addressed to Hyundai Motor Finance (HMF), not me - and which HMF never received either. Had they received anything on my behalf from Liberty Mutual it would have gone into my file and they still had Geico as my insurer so they never received anything either.

My adjuster filed a dispute on my behalf and recommended that they pay it. I got in touch with a Supervisor in Customer Service who identified a typo in my address in their records, and agreed that I have a strong case and they would likely cover me. Sadly I just found out that despite recommendations to pay by my adjuster and his manager, when it rose through the ranks to Supervisor Danielle in Customer Service she denied it on the grounds that at some point they asked me for me correspondence preferences and apparently I said email.

I never received any emails either, of course, so there's currently a request that's been sent by my adjuster - whom they saddle with the burden of informing me of this denial so that Danielle can hide comfortably behind the morass of Liberty Mutual's corporate bureaucracy - asking for copies of those emails. My best guesses are either that they were never sent, or if they were that they were sent from a funky domain and went to spam (as opposed to all of the other unrelated correspondence we get from Liberty Mutual) in which case Gmail would have deleted them after 30 days.

Regardless, the bottom line is that if I had any idea that my coverage was in jeopardy at any point, I would have immediately remedied it. Why would I switch from Geico to Liberty Mutual and buy new insurance and then ignore messages telling me that what I just bought wasn't in effect, wouldn't be valid, and that I wasn't getting what I asked for or was paying for?

I'm neither a liar, nor would I have ignored messages telling me to take action to protect my coverage. What I find outrageous is that I only discovered all of this activity after the car got totaled and had the claim to file. Moreover so since I have 3 policies with this provider, including two homeowner policies in addition to my auto one. Needless to say they won’t be keeping them much longer if I’m not given some very quick relief.

I actually liked the fact if I need to change my due date according to when my checks were deposited I could. I didn't have an issue with them until the end of the policy. The second car wasn't running so we were paying insurance for a car that was just well screwed mechanically. I took the non running car off the insurance payments went to $239.20. That wasn't gonna happen so I paid the last payment due on the policy. They tried to auto renew which I told them I didn't want.

I switched insurance companies. I was told when I canceled the policy I would only have to pay $16 bucks. I was perfectly fine with it. They never took the 16 bucks out of my account which I just figured I overlooked it. I went to Geico. I now pay $122 for one car for full coverage. Well my check was deposited which of course I have multiple bills coming out of my check. Liberty decided to charge my account $162.75. I called and was told it wasn't $16 dollars to cancel the auto renew. It was $162. I fought with them for 20 minutes about it. Got absolutely nowhere with it.

So now I have to figure out how I'm gonna buy food for my house since they decided to take that much. They completely screwed me over. Oh well when I thought about it I still saved money even since they took the $162 out I'm still gonna be paying less for my Insurance this month with what they took and my own insurance now. Liberty Mutual sent me my insurance cards and a separate cancellation letter the same day, basically implying that I intentionally failed to report the one moving violation from years ago. I inquired with a representative on the website and fully explained the situation. They said that I am now barred from having coverage of any kind through Liberty Mutual indefinitely. I was literally treated like some criminal who intentionally misled them.

They could have easily adjusted my rate up upon discovery of this one minor violation, but they instead decided to do the equivalent of spitting in my face and ostracized me completely. We're not talking about a major at-fault wreck or loss of life here. It was a simple improper lane change. No fuss. Paid the ticket, moved on with my life, and completely forgot about it. I got insurance with them and it was a decent competitive price. I was happy and they were helpful. Then I bought a new car and decided to up my coverage from PLPD so I assumed it would cost me more. I live in Michigan so there are yearly flat prices for certain things that you have to pay the state for. I had paid these in full at the beginning of the year, yet when upgrading my insurance I was forced to pay these costs again meaning I ended up being overcharged by hundreds of dollars. I argued with them saying that I shouldn’t have to pay these again. They gave me a line a garbage that was completely incorrect but would not listen nor change my rate.

At the time I thought, "Oh well. I’ll see what my rate is for next year." To my surprise when I was billed for the next year my coverage went from 1400 a year to nearly 3000. That was a ridiculous jump in cost so I looked at other providers. Progressive quoted me a little over 1200 a year for my new car with full coverage which was less than the amount I paid for the last 5 months with Liberty. Liberty is definitely not competitive after they think they have you. If your prices go up, I strongly suggest you look anywhere (and I mean it) anywhere else. My current coverage for my new car with Progressive is better than my original coverage of PLPD with my old car at the same price. I’ve also had much better customer service from other providers.

The process was quick, and they even backdated the cancelation to the day after my other policy went into effect, which I thought would be good for me because I would get a refund for the days, I didn’t need their policy.

To my surprise several days later I got a bill for a cancellation fee. The fee was around $500. I called to dispute and after going through several levels of customer support I was not able to get them to waive the fee. So not only do they raise the premiums beyond any reasonable amounts they will then charge you a cancellation fee when you cancel, the insurance if it’s not on the renewal date. I live in North Carolina and the customer service group started out telling me it was a fee that North Carolina charges. I checked into this and found out North Carolina doesn’t charge a fee for changing policies on a date other than the renewal date. I called back to customer service and got the manager of the department to discuss this and ask for the fee to be waived and that person told me the agreement with North Carolina doesn’t allow this to be waived because it is in the policy that they have submitted to the state.

Again, I went back to validate with the North Carolina Insurance commission and they specifically said that policy is up to the Insurance company and North Carolina does not prohibit them from waiving the fee to any individual. I then escalated to the office of the president customer service group and they kept telling me because they have this policy in the document, they can’t waive the fee, but what it really comes down to is that they won’t waive the fee. They are crooks and will try to take every penny they can get out of you. I highly recommend that you do not do business with Liberty Mutual.

I am so sick of seeing their commercials on TV about how they save you money and to go with anyone else is like throwing your money into the river. A more accurate representation would be to have Bernie Madoff as their spoke person and they are going to take as much money as they can from you and once you’ve had enough they will find a way to take some more.

Waited. Had to call the rep. She stated a adjuster would be sent out. Waited 2 weeks. Adjuster stated, "Give it a week and contact rep." Called rep. Left message. No callback. Waited.

Called rep again and received message she was on vacation! Called to talk to someone in charge. He stated, they were going to send adjuster out AGAIN for more pictures. Waited. Adjuster came out and verified damage. Waited for response from Liberty Mutual. Called, left message. Waited three months and then claim was denied. Even though the adjuster verified damage was caused by high winds, Liberty Mutual tried to say it was poor maintenance. They told me the adjuster was not 'QUALIFIED' TO MAKE THOSE DETERMINATIONS. After being with Liberty Mutual for over ten years I noticed a huge increase in insurance costs. No accidents, no tickets, great driving record. Low mileage. They kept increasing my insurance and telling me that it was because of an increase in health costs in my state. It isn't. They discriminate against us for getting older. When I called to cancel because I finally wised up and got State Farm, they didn't record the call. So, even though I've had another insurance they sent me a bill that included a late fee and a policy cancellation effective 17 days after I canceled.

WARNING to all those who are thinking of leaving Liberty Mutual for raising your rates (even though you have a great driving record): Make sure they record the cancellation when you call. Get the name of the person you talk to. Ask them for a cancellation number or a copy of the cancellation to be sent to your email that same day. They are in control and will continue to charge you unless you can prove you cancelled. STATE FARM is a great company to switch to. They do not discriminate because of age.

I don't know how to describe my experience with Liberty Mutual other than traumatic, horrible, demeaning, tragic... Actually, never mind. I have plenty of words to describe it. I was involved in a collision with a LM policyholder at the beginning of November in which it was entirely his fault. He pulled out of a parking garage in front of me at such a high rate of speed, leaving me no time to slow down or swerve. It happened right in front of a fire station with about 5 firefighters watching the whole thing. They called the police for us, helped us move cars, take pictures, etc. The officer came, took statements for a report, cited the LM policyholder, and it was finished. We were thankful no one was hurt - just the cars. Cut and dry.

I waited for a whole week for a call from LM (the policyholder apologized to me and informed them immediately after it happened). When she finally called, it was at 6 in the morning so I was asleep. Adjuster Mia left a message with her contact info so I called back when I woke up - no answer so I left a message. I continued to call and leave messages several times a day, every day for 2 weeks. When I finally talked to her to give my statement, it took another 2 weeks to decide on liability (80% them, 20% me). According to them, I should have magically had time to slow down to decrease the damage done to both cars. I said nope - that's not true and I would like someone else to look at this.

Long story short, my car is still totaled on the side of the road a month and a half later. And I'm going to keep it there until they decide to do what's right. At this point, it's a matter of principle. Even my insurance adjuster from my own company is horrified by their practices. LM is completely ignoring her and their lawyers as well.

I contacted the policyholder who hit me (we're friends now) to tell him that his insurance company is trash, and he has now switched to a different company already. His experience was also awful. I could go on and on about their shady customer service - calling back 2 minutes before they close, tossing me around to random numbers to leave messages, telling me there are no supervisors? Liberty Mutual is annoying at the least and insanely corrupt at the worst. I honestly can't believe they are still somehow in business. I will never be insured with them. Insure locally! Report malpractice to the state board of insurance! Trust all of these terrible reviews! At least, reading all of these, I know I'm not alone.

First, let me say that Liberty Mutual cut my yearly insurance costs by $400 for the same plan I had with State Farm. So, that in itself is worth switching. But, as soon as you sign on with them they encourage you to try their "Right Track" device and promise it can save an additional large sum of money. This is totally false. I agreed to the program and attached the device to my windshield for 90 days. You download an app in your phone to monitor your performance and it also keeps a tally of what your savings will be as time goes by. The device keeps track of your braking, acceleration, and driving between midnight and 4am. By the end of the ninety day period I fell in the category of excellent driving. My ended tally totaled $207, which I was very happy with.

Once you return the device in the mail it takes one billing cycle before the discount is factored in. I was very excited to have saved myself another $207 a year. After signing into my account I noticed my monthly bill was only $5 less per month. I called customer service and they informed me that the 10% discount I received initially when I switched over was factored into the "Right Track" discount and that my additional savings per year would be $64. I told the rep that the whole thing was very misleading, and she told me they're working better communication to their customers. So, the bottom line is Liberty Mutual offers great rates, but this "Right Track" deal is a sham. Don't bother.

I have had the RightTrack (ODBC II) port for about 3 weeks. I also have a wide-angle front and rear dashcam that keeps time-stamped video and audio. After seeing about 6 acceleration events (at that time no braking events), I decided to pull the video and watch it from 5 minutes before until 5 minutes after the stated time. I managed to see (guess) what caused the acceleration event. It was this: I was travelling on a limited access roadway just after 5 am, and on cruise control set right around 52 mph.

As the grade of the road changed to a slight uphill, the transmission shifted into a lower gear to maintain speed. (There was no acceleration. The cruise control merely properly maintained speed.) This caused 3 acceleration events (somehow) to be recorded in one minute intervals. I have since stopped using cruise control, and allow the vehicle to slow down on (even gentle) uphill slopes. Since that time, 2 braking events were recorded that never really happened. I will be pulling the video on those later. I have to agree with the posters that said there is a problem in the Right Track technology. Most of the events it records will be spurious.

I also did a little more experimentation. It appears to measure acceleration and braking along two completely separate vectors. The data I have collected suggest that an event is registered if either vector boundary is crossed. One vector is the rate of change of the speedometer needle (this also should be the same as the rate of speed change on the drive wheels). In order to test this, you would need access to a dynamometer. (Device used to test emissions with older vehicles.) The mileage increase with the vehicle on a dynamometer is registered by the RightTrack device, and therefore actual vehicle movement is not required. Use of a dynamometer isn't advised, however, because unlike in an actual road situation, the wheel speed can alter dramatically quickly in this situation, and result in both braking and acceleration events due to its measurement of the "wheel speed" vector.

The other vector appears to be engine speed, or i.e. rapid RPM changes. This can also trigger as acceleration or braking events independently of changes in the drive wheel's rotational speed. Other than simply starting the program, and then not driving the car for 3 months, (which is usually not an option), the best bet is to plan your routes so that you drive fairly long distances on limited access roads. Avoid local routes where the density of start/stop per unit mile is high. Try to reduce the event per mile density. All that said, I can’t complain about the way the program is set up. Even if I only get the 5% minimum, it will carry forward for the life of the vehicle.

I had a small accident in July 2018 and I was cited (first ticket I've ever gotten and am 64 years old). Talked to Liberty Mutual about their advertised "Accident Forgiveness". I didn't qualify because I didn't know you had to sign up for it prior to the Accident? Asked what I could do to reduce my rates, I'm single and insure 2 vehicles. One vehicle is a truck I keep full coverage on, but rarely drive (drive it around the block every couple weeks) and keep it at a friend's house a few miles away. The representative suggested I try their "Right Track", which are devices you put in your vehicle, and they judge your driving habits for 90 days. You can get up to a 30% discount if they judge you to be a good driver.

I was told they rate you on 4 factors, the hours you drive (between midnight and 4 AM isn't good), the amount of miles you drive, how fast you accelerate, and how fast you brake. I signed up, installed the devices they sent, and installed the phone app. One thing that didn't make sense is taking points from you for decelerating quickly. I normally stop for yellow lights, but since I had the Right Track installed, had to run a few lights I normally would of stopped at. The Phone App tells you how you did each day and how many miles they registered you. I did have a few of "OK" even though it showed I drove 3 miles. The majority of them showed Great.

At the end of the 90 days, it showed I had driven my primary vehicle 904 miles, the truck didn't register any miles (even though I did drive it around the block every couple weeks just to keep flat spots off the tires). I got a whopping 9% discount on my primary vehicle, and no discount on the truck I hadn't driven. I called Liberty Mutual and asked why. I had too many fast decelerations on my car, never drove within the hours of 12 AM to 4 AM, 904 miles and only qualified for 9%. I got no discount on my truck because I didn't take it out and risk having an accident in it, so they could see how I drove it. So they're saying with Right Track, run yellow lights and drive/risk your vehicle more in order to qualify for a discount.

Yet I watch the "Projected Yearly Savings" change during the week to lower dollar savings amounts! It was $42, then $39, then $38. Then $37. No reason at all. The closer I got to the 90 days mark, the faster the amounts changed to lower amounts. All the "Latest Recorded Trips" over the weekend were accounted for. Yet, the $ savings amount arbitrary would change during the week while the vehicle sits in the garage. It's like someone is spinning a wheel and whatever dollar amount it lands on at that moment, is the lower amount of savings. Never higher amount of savings. ALWAYS lower - and the car is stationary! Plus, there's no rhyme or reason to their ratings of "Ok" "Good" "Great".

I drive from my house to the grocery store and back, 3 miles each way about the same time on Friday early afternoon. Traffic conditions the same, very few cars, usually no stopping. From my house, I can make it to the store without even stopping. My subdivision goes into a roundtable, and the few lights are usually green. Weather-wise, nothing out of the ordinary. No variations in my braking, or accelerating, (or driving between 12a and 4a), yet I get various ratings such as "ok" to "good" to "great". Calling Liberty Mutual, all I get for an answer is "the app is from a third-party"... It would appear I will be a very short-term customer of Liberty Mutual. I would have rather Liberty Mutual not offer this "incentive" versus experiencing what appears to be a scam. And not getting any answers from Liberty Mutual.

I called Liberty Mutual and told them that I'd like to pay in full any remaining balance with the assurance that I would not receive another bill at a later time because I am now in a dire need to help my mom at this time. I was put on hold to verify everything and to ensure that there would not be a future balance. So I paid in full. The rep assured me, with a chuckle, saying "There will only be a zero balance so you'll never see a withdrawal because you cannot see zero's". I asked her to document that. She told me she had already done - so. I paid the full balance over the phone.

Two weeks later I was alerted by my bank of a nonsufficient fund fee, due to a larger withdrawal from Liberty Mutual. (I thought about making sure that they could not withdraw bogus money before the 28th since that was my normal payment date). But Liberty Mutual withdrew money earlier, on the 14TH, which they had never done before. It was a totally different and made-up amount. I talked to the supervisor, who told me that she had no way to prove that I was told that I was paying the balance in full. I told her to read the notes. She told me that she did not see that in the notes. So I told her to listen to the recorded call and since her worker told me that it was paid in full, with no balance, that that should justify that I should be refunded money taken out of my account without my permission. I told her to listen to the recorded call. She told me that the calls are only recorded for a short time and then deleted.

I told her that it was less than a month. She said the calls are not saved. She kept repeating the same statement no matter what I said. And still refused to refund the money, saying that she is the supervisor and the manager and no one is over her and that that they'll speak to the original worker's supervisor to tell on that worker. After many many calls, she decided only to return the nonsufficient bank fee of $19, but not the made-up sum of money withdrawn from my acct without my permission and without notice. I just saw a commercial on TV from them. Now I see how they're paying for those expensive commercials. BEWARE of Liberty Mutual!!!

I submitted the claim, provided all the information, details of incident, those involved, contact numbers and 2 whole months later I cannot receive an update from my assigned adjuster along with his manager. I have called numerous times where the first contact representative tells me it seems they are trying to reach their client but unable to.

Let me give it away, Liberty Mutual. You cannot reach your client because your client was at FAULT. I have not received any information on how long it will take for them to stop trying to reach their own client so that I can get my car repaired. 2 months is a very long time for me to get an adjuster on the line. Not only can I not get to speak with my assigned adjuster. I am unable to reach my adjuster's manager and any other available adjuster at that. How is this acceptable? I will move forward to get a lawyer involved.

Stayed with Liberty Mutual exactly for 1 day, over which they decided to double my premium compare to their original quote. Hah? They said the change was "based on your driver's record". I thought my driver's record was pretty decent, so I called and learned that the violation for which they wanted to charge me extra $2400 a year was a speeding (40/35) ticket from 3.5 years ago. I asked how they came up with $2400 sum, and how long I would have to pay the extra premium, and they said they calculate it based on a violation's severity and it lasts for 5 years.

So, if I stayed with them all these 5 years I'd be charged additional $12000 which is, coincidentally, the price of my whole car. And I don't even know, based on a severity, what could it be for, say, 50/35??? I switched to Progressive and pay now even less than LM's initial quote. Apparently the interpretation of "severity" just depends on how greedy the insurance company is.

Not only was Liberty able to get me what I needed, but they were also cheaper and had better coverage. I also like that their policies are for 12 months instead of 6, this allows me to lock in the price for the year rather than taking a chance that it increases. So far I am glad that I switched and I wish I had done it sooner, they have been great and it was so easy to sign up and review their policies.

Apparently that car was supposed to be inspected to review the damage which we forgot to do. On 10/27/18 we get a notice in the mail explaining that the car that was supposed to be inspected was no longer covered by Liberty Mutual for failing to have the minor scratch inspected. This spring I called customer service to complain about my rates going up and a special adviser found that the agent making a commission on my account raised my insurance the previous year unnecessarily. She refunded me hundreds of dollars. I trusted her and had her direct number for any new problems. When the next time I called, everything changed and this helpful person was no longer reachable, but she did still work there. My next issue came when I bought a new vehicle because my old one was overheating and a mechanic said it would be a 3 week wait to repair and I should find another mechanic if I needed my car immediately. I did need it but bought another one because I was already searching for a vehicle that could tow my new travel trailer.

Here comes the problem: when I insured the new vehicle I asked to lower the rate on the broken one that would just sit in my driveway until I found someone else to fix it. This agent told me she could put the vehicle in storage to save $$ BUT SHE DIDN'T TELL ME THAT MEANT TURNING THE TAGS IN!!! Who in their right mind would turn their tags in and then have to re-register their car and all that hassle and expense.

Of course Maryland penalized me for not having insurance. I got my car fixed by a friend 10 days later and called to put the insurance back up. Maryland ended up charging me $150 for the lapse in coverage, but Liberty Mutual said too bad, not our fault our agent misinformed you. I paid the charge and am shopping for a new company, and what do you know, just today the agent who raised my rates to make a higher commission, called me to give me a better deal that would cost me more. Putting the pedal to the metal, the truck driver tried to power out of the jackknife and escape oncoming trucks by taking the same left turn I was waiting for. He got my car from behind and pushed it through the intersection & up the road, destroying it. It was towed to a local body shop, who declared it a total loss. Without my knowledge, Liberty had it towed many miles to a “Liberty Auto Body Shop” There they wasted over $10,000 making it look OK from the outside. When we picked it up, gas fumes filled the cockpit, sickening us and causing a fire hazard.

Eventually they fixed the gas line but other safety hazards were ignored. Once the L rear break froze, causing an uncontrolled spin at freeway speeds and again sickening us with fumes. It has cost more in repairs than the car was worth and remains unsafe at any speed. Parts, like steering, keep failing. I’m scared to drive it. Liberty should have replaced it but instead used deceptive practices - like fixing it in stages so no one repair was more than 1/2 the total value.

Got a letter from DMV saying they would suspend the registration if it didn't have liability on it. At the time I had a 92 Buick covered from Liberty Mutual so I went ahead and added the car on. In total I was paying 109 for renter and 2 cars. I sold my Buick and kept my Jaguar with just the liability. I moved not even 15 miles from when I had the insurance and it went up to 121. I called and they explained to me that the rates are based on the area you live. Strike 1.

Then after about 6 months it went back down to 83. Ok that's fine so I just paid them on the Sept 18 and end up getting into a crash on the 22 so I called them. They told me no need to file a claim seeing that, "You are not at fault," so I was like, "Ok so then." The other insurance company came and looked at my car and declared it was complete loss so I called my insurance to cancel the policy. I asked them what kind of refund would I get back. They told I would not be getting anything back. I was like, "How is that if I just paid you on the 18th?" They told me, "The way they bill you is for the month before." After 27 years with Liberty Mutual (NO INSURANCE CLAIMS), we were quite happy. Our agent made all the difference. We decided to move across country to a new state. We tried with no success to continue our insurance with Liberty Mutual. After our quoted Rate went up 2.5 times to our perfect record. The customer service was horrible. Our agent of 27 years was unable to help. After selling our home and canceling our Auto 5 months ago, we got a letter in the mail, canceling our home insurance, due to the fires in our state. So, after all these years paying in and not using it. They hire bad people with poor customer service skills. Cancel your Insurance after the insurance has been canceled, plus those commercials that make you feel like you're an idiot or you have kids that are idiots. Supposed to be funny! I guess! Pass over this company and find one that really wants your business.

When Progressive couldn’t help me at all, I called Liberty Mutual and Adam **, of Colorado Springs, saved the day. Without his help we would have ended up not purchasing the vehicle. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and took care of business in a very expedited and professional way. Since I’ve purchased auto insurance, he has always been available to answer any and all questions I’ve had, always responding in a timely manner giving me clarity and peace of mind about all aspects of my policy. I’m very pleased with everything Adam has done and can only wish that there were more top notch agents like him around.

Our regular payment was 216 but when we cancelled they charged us $254! We thought they were a good reputable company but they are just another crooked insurance company. We thought $215 month for two cars was ok for how young we were... but then we went with Say Insurance under shelter insurance. We got more coverage and now we only pay $135 a month. I had a $1000 deductible under Liberty Mutual. Now my deductible is $500. I have never been in an accident. When looking for a insurance company don't go with Liberty Mutual. Apparently that did not work, so had it towed to service shop that they chose, which was fine with me. Well, the steering column had been discontinued (was a 2002) so they had total the vehicle. It is now over a month later and still nothing. I don't really blame Liberty, so much, but the claims representative (Alicia **) is horrible. The service shop called me several times asking that the insurance company contact them because she would not return their e-mails or calls. Well, she would not ever return my calls or e-mails either. So I would talk to another representative or a supervisor and they would help me out as best as they can but couldn't do much since she was the "assigned" rep. This was just ridiculous.

I called my agent and he told me the claim was comprehensive. I called LM in the morning and they confirmed it was comprehensive and told me to take the car to an authorized repair center. My car has 180k miles and is ten years old, had the claim been collision I would have bought the two lenses and been back in business but the lens were over $100 and the comprehensive decision had been made by LM.

I took the car to their repair center and the claim person also concluded the claim was comprehensive. You can see where I'm going here. The car is fixed, it has been almost 2 months, they did a great job all is well. LM calls me yesterday and tells me the claim assignment to comprehensive is a mistake and I am responsible for the difference, they were sorry. I owe the repair center $900.00. I asked them to put in writing the mistaken conclusion under which I made my repair decision and I will forward this to the insurance commissioner in my state. This is not acceptable.

They never showed up in court so my uninsured insurance paid it. Then I was pulling my flatbed trailer through Walms lot when a car parked in the fire pulled out and hit my trailer. I called LM and told them not to pay until I emailed them pictures that show not my fault and they agreed. THEN THEY PAID ANYWAY. They said they lost the photos TWICE. Now they use a company that supplies them with drivers' records as reported and they are just as screwed up as LM.

THEY NOW REPORT THAT I HAVE HAD 4 Accidents, 2 collisions "OK", 1 claim for a total loss in my name not my daughter's. 1 PARKING LOT ACCIDENT $1500 I did not make a claim for my trailer. After days of ** around with the low IQ agents at LM and they said since they messed up they would remove the Mexican accident and the parking lot after I sent the photos 3 times. Stay away from this insurance, far away. I was adjusted by them without even knowing I had their policy. I originally signed up through Safeco, but during my 23 year enrollment with Safeco they were bought by LMI and LMI underwrites their home policies (strange they never told me). I had full coverage, including sewer backup and the sewer backed up during a heavy rainstorm flooding my basement. I claimed less than $3,000 (my backup coverage was $10,000) to replace the washer, dryer, water heater and repair the furnace. During my interview with the adjuster, he admitted they almost never pay on sewer backup. Of course they declined it. My attorney advised suing would be more costly than changing coverage. In the four years since this event I have paid more than four times the claim adjustment to my new carrier, who I am very happy with. LMI constantly advertises on TV which means they are churning through clients very rapidly.

We have been loyal customers for 5 years. We switched to Liberty because they offered excellent rates for our new drivers, having 2 young adults just getting licenses had spiked our rates with Safeco. At 1st Liberty was great. Even handled my daughter's totaled car within 1st year so nicely I thought Liberty was the best insurance company ever (I've tried several). I told friends and family how impressed I was with their prices AND customer service. My local agent was always very responsive and made reasonable suggestions on the best coverage for the price for our situation. Every year prices went up a bit - especially on the 3rd year, but I didn't feel like shopping around and figured a few years after my daughter's accident they would go down again. I did the Right-Track program and we saved 12-13% but nowhere near enough to get back to where we started.

We have had 4-7 cars insured through Liberty at any one time and currently have 6 cars insured. Our last annual bill was $8,570 (avg ~$1,260ea). Following is an example of beginning vs. current rates: 2013, 2017. 2005 Toyota Prius $698, $1,341 (w/ Right-Track). 1995 Toyota Corolla $476, $1,240 (didn't qualify for Right-Track). I understand it is common for insurance companies to offer great rates to get you in the door and then continually raise them hoping you won't bother to shop around - guess I fit that picture...my own fault; but that wasn't what really ruined Liberty Mutual reputation for me.

Recently they gave me notice of non-renewal. The reasons given were: a 2 year old accident and speeding ticket from the 2 kids (yes it's true, young drivers often make poor choices as they learn the ropes), but apparently the last straws were a windshield replacement and towing claim in the last year of all things...and this after my agent had assured me that the glass and roadside assistance were so reasonably priced it was a no-brainer to add them because they were not counted against the policy and did not reflect poorly on the driver in any way. Unfortunately, Liberty Mutual has changed their policy now and DO count any claims of any sort against the policy and after a certain amount of activity (driving record or loss history) they decide they no longer want you for a customer.

OK, it is a free world and business is business - I get that - But... 1) Liberty failed to notify customers about internal change in policy concerning glass & towing coverage - if I had known using this coverage would lead to a cancellation I wouldn't have bothered to add them. 2) Liberty didn't give my wife & I opportunity to find other coverage for the kids, they just cut us all off. The agent told us any new company will call them and Liberty is required to tell the new insurance company about any losses and non-renewals due to account activity so this will force us to shop for a policy under adverse conditions. 3) Yes Liberty lost ~$4,000 on my daughter's accident and maybe another $500 on glass & towing, but we faithfully paid our premiums and paid out over $15,000 over the last 5 years.

I held off having the windshield replaced until the multiple chips & cracks begin interfering with driver visibility - technically I could have claimed 3 windshields. I also handled other break-down situations on my own rather than call a tow truck and have insurance pay for it. We have a hit-and-run damage to the side of our car that I never claimed because the car didn't seem worth the hassle (why have a newly painted door when the rest of the car needs a paint job worth more than the car is worth?). I did my best to be a faithful customer and protect Liberty from frivolous claims...they stabbed me in the back. Even my agent has a hard time understanding this apparently capricious behavior and said after the internal policy change on glass & towing even he is afraid to use them. If you have Liberty don't use their roadside assistance, get AAA.

Liberty Mutual is the Wrong Insurance Company!!! I've was with Liberty Mutual Insurance for over 9 years. I've never file any claims the whole time I was insured by Liberty Mutual Insurance. My wife and I have a perfect driving record, no tickets, no criminal record and always paid our bill on or before it was due. A month ago this is what they did to me!

I was at a car dealership and purchased a 2018 Honda HR-V. During the transaction I called Liberty Mutual and the Liberty Mutual Insurance Rep informed me that my policy would increase by over $540.00 per month, further follow-up I was informed that I should contact a Liberty Mutual rep: his name is Tony ** (**), I called and left 9 messages over 2 weeks and never was given the courtesy of a return call, however someone from Liberty Mutual did call me back, and I was informed that a year ago in a private parking lot at a Dairy Queen, a car backed into me, I was in my parking spot, not moving when a car with 6 people and at least 1 dog hit me. No damage to my car because they hit my hitch, but instead of stopping she continued backing up which caused considerable damage to her car. Called the police, called Liberty Mutual to informed them as required. Gave my statement, then never heard back from Liberty Mutual.

To fast forward a year later to what's important. Liberty Mutual for whatever reason paid for her damages (Yes you read that correctly). They paid for the driver at fault, damages to her car, and they never contacted me, informed me, nor clarified any information of the incident with myself or my wife that was with me in the car when this happened. Finally after writing a complaint on the customer service site of Liberty Mutual's web-site, I received an email that I should call them back, which the representative was at a loss as to why this was even paid. But again stated that there was nothing they could do to correct the situation and Liberty Mutual would not tell me why they would pay this claim. They admitted that they never call me to follow up or tell me what was happening, and my policy could not be corrected.

To summarize: The TV commercials are just an advertising stunt. No Grudges: Because they will just profit from you. Accident Forgiveness: How self centered to even have the misconception that as a customer we would ask for forgiveness, we pay for a service and I'm not that forgiving when getting screwed. Car replacement, that must be for the other guy that was at fault. Liberty Mutual; looks like I'm not alone. I hope people will read this post then maybe you will realize your paying customer deserve better. Was a 9 year customer, but no longer!!!

Our insurance rate went up 30% this last year, even though there weren’t any accidents or tickets. When we called Liberty Mutual about it, they recommended we enroll in the RightTrack program, it would drop our rates based on our driving. We read the reviews, which weren’t great but decided it wouldn’t hurt. Well the reviews were correct: hard to set up, they dock you for merging on a freeway, or stopping at a red light. For the record, my driving record is completely clean, I drove 700 miles in two months, mostly in my neighborhood. My expected savings went from $163 to $90 in two days. Beware of this scam, they tell you that you can reduce your rate back to where it was by enrolling in this program, don’t do it. If you plan on leaving Liberty Mutual because of a rate increase just do it, don’t waste your time with RightTrack.
