I would really recommend for Liberty Mutual to take better time and deeper thought before they just make any decision. There was a miscommunication and I caught the issue, but when I called LM, I got the run-arounds and to where the phone would ring constantly and you talk about frustrated!!! They promptly took fault for a fender bender that was NOT my fault. When someone turns left into your car when they turned off of their street driveway as your fault is beyond me. Technically, I look at it as though they got had. Yes, LM's rate have skyrocketed ridiculously-- along with all else, I suppose, but I have no other real problem with this company. They also just need to make it a little easier to get through to someone when we call in to them.

I have coverage for my new model BMW and another brand vehicle through Liberty Mutual after receiving recommendations from BMW to use them for parts replacement. My son was in an accident with the other brand vehicle and that is when I learned (through claims) that I would not receive OEM parts. This had me concerned as I was never aware of this when writing my polio nor did this happen to me with other insurance companies prior. The claim’s adjuster, Shane **, told me that my policy stated that it does NOT cover OEM parts for my other vehicle but I would for my BMW due to the “Infinity Program.” And therefore, he refused to sign off for me to replace my parts with OEM parts and only with aftermarket. I could not find that in my policy so I then reached out to customer service multiple times as well as the policy department.
Although I had a couple representatives who did not want to help me and kept rerouting me back to claims, I had more than one representative who then confirmed my policy did not cover OEM parts for both of my vehicles. They told me that I would need to purchase ADDITIONAL coverage for that. I know that because my BMW is worth more than $75k, I would NEVER want an aftermarket part on it. This is false advertising for Liberty Mutual and also The claims adjuster manager, Shane, was not honest when it came time to pay for my damages. I will never trust Li Mu and what they say because they contradict their statements and will in turn be cheap with you to undervalue your vehicle, especially a BMW.

Awfully and disloyal. When I first got Liberty they did advise me to download the driving app. Based on my driving I will get a discount so did that. After three months the driving decision came back as excellent but no discount. After 6 months they did increase the policy. Not by much so I just said it's ok. After a year they did increased it again but this time they went to town LOL. I called and asked why. The lady after checking my policy said I don't see any reason. There's no incident it any ticket so I'm not sure why was her answer but I have to double check and so she did a few a couple of minutes she comes back and the reason for the increase was the inflation. She said LMFAO. And so I did cancel my policy and will never see them again. Thanks to their stupidity I got to know them with my auto insurance only.

Before purchasing my policy with Liberty Mutual. I was advised by sales associate to download the "right track app" in my phone for 3 months since I was a safe driver with the promise I was going to get up to 20% discount after the trial. It is something I did not want to do but I was convinced by the sales a. assuring me I definitely will get savings with my history record of good driving. All these time, was driving scored was "excellent" and 3 days before completing the end of the trial I had $268 in savings for the year premium. Suddenly the savings changed to $200, what happened? So sudden? But my driving score was still excellent??...
Today I received an e-mail saying "congratulations" Your 90 day trial is completed and you have $200 in savings. I went ahead and signed in to my account to verify the updated policy price. For my surprised no $200 applied towards my policy. Instead I see $26! I called immediately and I've been on the phone for hours, being transfer from one department to another with no clarification of their "mistake". One representative said she was "sorry". LOL but 10% discount was applied already at the moment that I agreed to download the app, it is just that I DID NOT KNOW but they gave it to me without disclosing it (maybe it was a surprise!)... and I was given 2% more for scoring excellent in the trial which is very generous from the 20% I was promised. I said : - "From the 20% promised you gave me just 2%? Even though I scored EXCELLENT for 3 months? You got to be kidding me!" So I asked to be transferred to the "right track department" and she hanged up on me.
Now, it makes me doubt about how truthful this company would be in case I had a claim and need assistance. It is terrible!. I will not recommend download any ridiculous app that invades your privacy in return of nothing! What a scam.

I am so disappointed in Liberty Mutual. I had been a customer for over 15 years when my auto insurance rates skyrocketed. No claims, no points - no explanation. I live in Florida, and when I questioned this increase they said “this is just how rates are in Florida now. You’ll find the same rates at other companies”. Two individual representatives stated this. I went to State Farm and they provided the exact coverage for close to half the cost. Liberty Mutual is a company that doesn’t respect their customers enough to simply be honest. Unacceptable.

I got a pretty decent discount through my university with Liberty Mutual. It actually helped me save about $20 a month when other companies' rates kept going up and up even with a "loyalty discount." Then I purchased a newer vehicle. My bill went from $54 a month to $195...quadruple the amount I was paying for adding a new vehicle on. This did NOT include a multi car discount which should have been added to the plan. When I went to cancel the plan after finding better coverage (WAY lower deductible, towing and rental car included which I didnt have before) for $140 for both vehicles the bill sudden jumped from $195 to $305. ** is that about??? They added every ** charge they could to me canceling my policy.
I had called when I 1st purchased my newer vehicle to see when I needed to cancel to not have ridiculous charges added. What good that did. Even canceling the policy before the billing cycle date still incurred a hundred dollars worth of unnecessary charges. I will NEVER consider them again for anything. And God forbid you get in an accident and have agents tell you you have NO coverage when you really do then after "looking around in the system" for 5 minutes they "find" your coverage yet still don't doing anything to help to where I still got stuck paying damages from when some idiot ran into me. Worst coverage EVER!

So I changed my insurance, got a new one (for 250. RV, car and homeowners insurance under 250.) But the ** continues, they didn't discontinue my rv insurance and kept taking it out of my mom's account, for over 6 mo. Called them on it and they gave a refund... of 170. I set up auto draft with Liberty Mutual so that my car insurance payment would come out of my account at the end of the month in order to get the discount. They withdrew the first payment. I put my car payment in my account. Liberty Mutual came back and withdrew another payment in 10 days and refused to refund the last one so I could make my car payment. They are horrible!!! How do you justify pulling two payments in 10 days, when I did not agree to that!!! That's the thing about auto draft, they can withdraw money from your account when they want to and it should not be that way!!! Liberty Mutual is not a good insurance company to have!!! Please be careful if you set up auto draft with these people!!! You could be in the same situation!!!

I loaned my grand daughter my vehicle and she was hit in the rear and knocked down a cliff. Liberty Mutual was not empathetic. They questioned and treated us all like we had done something wrong, then refused to honor the claim and cancelled our insurance policy. I live in a two- family home. My grand daughter lives in a separate unit with her mom. They refused the claim and cancelled the policy claiming she was an undisclosed operator of the vehicle. I am not obligated to cover tenants in my policy just because the physical address is the same. They then listed fraud and misrepresentation of facts on my record. Now all the quotes I am getting from other carriers are extremely high. This company is disingenuous and will employ underhanded tactics to avoid honoring claims. I am disgusted with them and would not recommend them to ANYONE.

I had Liberty Mutual auto and home insurance for about 7 years. At the time I thought I had a good rate. I've always had a good credit rating and never had a claim in 7 years. My premiums continued to climb over those years. I contacted Lib Mut to see if there were any adjustments I could make. After a good 45 minutes trying to lower my premium to no avail.
I decided to shop around. I found Hanover offering me amazing rates. I was saving $1200 a year on better home insurance and $650 on better auto. When I canceled my Lib Mut insurance, they asked me why. I told them I feel like I have been ripped off by them for years. Their response was "ok". After a year with Hanover, I would never recommend Liberty Mutual.

So, I have been a longterm Geico insurer for over 20 years... Yes, they used to say how thankful they were. But every time I tried to shave my bloated policy down, I got the runaround. So, I moved it to Liberty Mutual, because they are Geico, at least Geico owns them. Recently my significantly ADHD son who works 2 jobs to survive, was at a full stop and mildly rear-ended another car, he thought had moved on. Happens. Because he was exhausted, going home to eat then sleep, probably in a little shock and again, has ADHD, he grabbed the insurance docs out of the glovebox. Those happened to be mine.
Now, because of a loophole, LM won't connect us with the drivers and insists that I have to run it through them and hike my coverage up! Companies love to bury these little rotten easter eggs in the 20-30 page legal docs and burn their customers, acting like it's the customer's fault for not reading that book. All I was asking for was the other driver's phone number. Something my son could have gotten on his own, but because he didn't the company is holding it ransom. I still have my most expansive policy still with the company, but based on how this goes, they will lose me... permanently. BTW - the rep that had lots of knowledge about how the policy worked and had zero compassion was Robin **.

LIBERTY MUTUAL IS TRASH! There is nothing stable about them. Your rates will go up often. My premium went from $7000 to $9,476, mind you I had no accidents and paid my bill. They do not value their customers at all. I been a customer since 2021 and my bill went up 3 times since. They lack customer service skills, all they want to do is rob you. Their system would automatically take my card off of autopay without my acknowledgment and they would charged me more because of it.
My bills went up due to inflation, now it’s due to medical coverages that went on their end. Everything may seem sweet in the beginning but trust me Liberty Mutual will raise your prices and then they will tell you they can readjust your rate like they are doing you a favor. Mind you they only deduct it by $100 but they charge you so much more that you still getting ripped off. Do not join Liberty Mutual, they will kill your pockets. They also don’t have agents who are knowledgeable of the product and lack customer service skills. Just run.

I’d give ZERO STARS if I could, my experience with Liberty Mutual was AWFUL. In short, Liberty staff made an error and cancelled my auto insurance without my knowledge or consent, resulting in my family DRIVING AROUND UNINSURED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS! The only reason I found out was because I logged in to my account one day and found that there were no active policies. Liberty customer service was absolutely NOT HELPFUL. I asked them to backdate coverage so that my record does not show a lapse in coverage. Liberty said that I would have to pay a WAY HIGHER PREMIUM in order to complete the backdating. I’ve called them OVER AND OVER AGAIN to come to a resolution, but Liberty refuses to help, saying each time that they’d have a supervisor call me back. NOT ONCE DID THEY CALL BACK. I get the feeling that they hope I’ll just pay and go away if they ignore me for long enough. Feels terrible.

I don't recommend this company. It is their obligation to respect me as a customer and let me know if it is not pay when it supposed to pay. Now they want me to pay extra 25 fee. And I just knew about this problem because I contact them. I really don't recommend, the customer service needs to be improved. They are rude as well. Safeco Liberty is attempting to steal over $2,000 from my family by devaluing our vehicle. I am a Gulf War Service-Connected Disabled Veteran and recently diagnosed with a VERY rare lymphoma due to chemical exposure during my service. The last problem my family needs is entering conflict, fighting an "American" business. Safeco-Liberty Insurance, is a dishonorable "American" company. Two months ago, my wife was involved in a collision in our 2007 BMW 328Xi. It was the other driver's fault, Liberty deemed our vehicle a total loss and their insurance adjustor (de)valued our BMW, which had 190,000 miles and great condition, at only $4,155. So, we went through the other driver's insurance, who appraised it at $5100. That's almost a $1,000 difference!
Both use Certified Collateral Corporation (CCC), which has settled in multiple class action laws suits and paid out millions of dollars in settlements and stated their business model is to devalue cars to benefit insurance companies. Yet, how is it that Liberty cites a lower valuation? We then received appraisals from TWO different companies and BOTH valuations are $6,400. They were appalled by the $2300 disparity. Yet, they weren't surprised because the appraisal was predicated upon CCC. The Claim Service Representative, by the name Jessica, is extremely rude, unhelpful, wants me to rush and agree to their terms, and has the audacity to say in an email, it "is not a negotiation." I opted to exercise my 3rd Party Appraisal Clause and when I notified Jessica, she was clearly unsatisfied, and upon requesting the name of the appraisal company they will use, was hesitant to provide the business, which is SCA Appraisal.
I Googled them to learn they're just as unethical as CCC. Clearly, Liberty fears objective appraisals and will do everything within their to cheat customers. I received much better service and respect from Farmer's and will change insurance companies. I received better service and respect from Farmer's and will change insurance companies. Even if I weren't a service-connected disabled Veteran and without lymphoma, I should be treated with dignity, morality, and decency. I shouldn't be forced to waste valued time fighting this, which the stress caused me to spend two days in bed will not relent until I receive the amount of $6,400.

I was a victim of an accident where the other party admitted fault. Decided that did not want to sue because the insurance stated they would fix my car at any given auto shop. At the very start of the claim, Safeco/Liberty Mutual was very distant and not at all communicative with me about the process. I had to initialize everything with everyone in the process except the auto shop was impossible to get in touch with. Finally a month or more later I was able to get my car in the shop and they helped me to even get a rental car for work. I live paycheck to paycheck in these hard times and need a car for work every day.
Then the emails between Mr. ** and Mr. ** stated the rates and what they would be paying. Safeco in the rates was severely undercutting the rates given by the auto fix shop (the only Mazda-certified shop in Arizona). The great communications of the auto shop were met with very poor communications by Liberty mutual. This has to be the worst insurance experience I've gone through. Safeco stated that they would not budge and never contacted me about any of this, I had to find out when trying to pick up my car when it was fixed. I live an hour and a half away from the auto shop, not to mention throughout the process had to take 2 non-paid days off work (I can't afford this).
Safeco stated my car was fixed and needed to be picked up or I would have to start paying for the rental car out of pocket. The auto shop stated that same day that they would start to charge me storage fees if not picked up that day. When I arrived they stated that the insurance refused to pay the $770.47 for the labor fees and that I will not be getting my car back till it was paid. I don't have $770.47 for this surprise expense. I needed a car, communicating with Safeco/Liberty Mutual was no help at all. They said that I would have to cover this and that they would not be helping at all.
They said I get to pick the auto shop, but nothing was communicated about me having to pay this surprise expense and was never able to get in touch with Mr. ** throughout the entire process (called, emailed, voicemail). Communication was the biggest factor where Safeco/Liberty Mutual failed, because if I was told that I would have to pay for something that I know I didn't have the money for then I would have taken my car to a shop less expensive.

(And home and used to have boats, 2nd home and an umbrella policy). So cannot tell but seems like we have been paying $6000 extra for at least 5 years maybe longer. I called LM and spoke with a rep. I asked him to give me the exact date my policy would cancel. The rep was very accommodating and provided me the information. I got paid the day before it would cancel. I go into my account the next morning to make the payment and it was cancelled. I was given the incorrect info by the rep. At the end of the day, it was my fault it cancelled.
I tried to reinstate the policy immediately. However the new rate was much more than I could afford. I asked the rep what I would owe on my final bill and he stated it would be $41.40. He said I would receive a final bill within 10 days. I received a bill 12 days later for $97.10. Huh??? So I called Liberty Mutual. Spoke with a rep who said she shows I owe $41.40. She was confused regarding additional charges. So she transferred me to another department. After waiting on hold for 25 minutes I had to release the call. I called back the next day and spoke with another rep. Again, he was baffled as to why the additional charges were added. The final bill I received was not itemized, it just had the amount that I supposedly owed. This rep also transferred me to another department. After on hold for close to 30 minutes, I again released the call. I then decided to file a complaint with BBB.
Several days later I receive an itemized bill for $97.10 in the mail. There were at least 20 credits, deductions and late fees. It was crazy. I'm still trying to figure out how a late fee was charged 10 days after the policy was cancelled. Again, I have no issue paying what I owe (I have actually paid the $41.40). I refuse to pay the additional fees. I was told by Liberty Mutual reps that's what I owe and that is all I will be paying. It was my fault it cancelled, I agree but I will not be fleeced by Liberty Mutual.

After renewal my Bill was 139.00. My decrease was 125.00. My Bill was going to be lowered anyway for no accidents, DUI, tickets. I Just thought that was a bit unfair. Before Covid I didn't drive a lot. Between June 2020-39,000 - October 2021. 42,674. Well I don't have to deal with that anymore. I sold my car. Good bye Liberty Mutual. Also, they told me that it won't be drafted from my checking account until 11/13, but they charged me on that day! One was for $305.50 and another was $1,646. I called them to ask for the refund. Before getting off the phone, they said that it was processed. A couple of days went by and I still didn't see my money. So, I gave them a call. They said they had no record of it. At this point, I've decided to cancel both policies. Today is 11/3 and I still haven't received my money back yet. Called Claims to correct shortage and policy states parts will be OEM. LM Claims dept told me not all parts on quote from dealership were needed and closed claim. I had them reopen and insisted they pay for all repairs listed by dealership for damaged/bent suspension and wanted OEM wheels, not refurbished. They stated that my policy had a clause that allowed them to use the refurbished wheels and their claims agent didn't see any additional damages. The agent never went to dealership to inspect.
We had the dealership service manager demand that LM send someone to inspect. Another person assigned to claim. They agreed to pay $3800 worth of suspension damages. I have a $500 deductible and have been a LM customer for over 10 years. This is the third claim that I have had with LM and they didn't pay the other claims either.

Why NOT to take your business to Liberty Mutual Insurance:
1) They hike up you premium rates at each renewal, even if you don't have an accident, a claim, a violation, never been late on your payments, NOTHING.
2) Apparently they got rid of their customer support: you are more likely to win the power ball jackpot than to find a number to call on their entire useless website.( with exception of the advertised number to join as a new customer (victim).
3) After you call the new customer # be prepared for a long painful runaround before you speak to anybody (have your blood pressure Meds in hand, and 911 on speed dial in case they give you a heart attack).
4)Website is useless with a stone age virtual assistant that has only a few generic questions already in the website. And there is no option for the BOT to find a live agent for ya.
5)When you finally speak with a live person, all I got from him as an explanation for my unwarranted premium hike...."I have no explanation other than the liberty's rates went up, and the discounts you had are no longer applicable!" (Bear in mind there was no changes whatsoever in my life from last year to this renewal: no accidents, claims, violations, nothing).
6) All this nightmare is me doing nothing not filling a claim. NOW think of yourself as liberty mutual future customer who is in a position where he needs to file a claim!! If you ever file a claim....well I refer you to reviews from people who have!! Read reviews from people who filed a claim with liberty and see how many stayed with them.... None!!.. They are a large insurance company that spends a lot of money on advertisements that have no truth to them. When you google Liberty Mutual you will find that they do not treat their policy holders well when there is a claim and become adversarial. My situation was terrible and is a nightmare. As such if you pick Liberty Mutual then you are risking not being taken care of when or if they are needed. Adjusters misrepresent facts and make false allegations to minimize the amount they will pay on the claim.
Insurance companies claim they are victims but they are predators that are waiting to get their prey and cheat, misrepresent and underpay on valid claims. The insurance company gets away with everything as they can claim that a defense when written by them is not a lie but if a customer sends them anything that is not worded in their manner they verbally attack you and want you to lie and per their policy help them defend a claim where liability cannot be contested.

Liberty's current advertising slogan is basically a scam. Several times during any day, it states "ONLY PAY FOR WHAT YOU NEED" while it's illegal for any insurance company to sell a coverage the customer doesn't want. In my opinion, the commercial violates the truth in advertising law that states, when consumers see or hear an advertisement, whether it's on the Internet, radio or television, or anywhere else, federal law says that ad must be truthful, not misleading, and, when appropriate, backed by scientific evidence. I don't know if anything can be done, but consumers should be made aware of this, especially if they're planning on purchasing insurance from Liberty because of the slogan and believe that Liberty is the only company that does this. Updated on 12/13/2021: Update - l contacted corporate Saturday the 8th and left a lengthy voicemail. At the end of the call they had till Friday. I got a call from some lady named Mara who had no clue and insisted we only called to set up a tow on the 5th. I had names and phone records to prove otherwise. The 5th was stuck in her head so l just had to end the call. She was mad because l told on everyone. The president called me apologizing and repeating ”l assure you we strive to make our customers happy.” l am not one of their customers and his customers is happy because they got their car fixed. Long story short-She got a new front end and the car was done yesterday. l just fixed the TT myself. I hope to never have to deal with them again and l told them that.
Original: One of Liberty Mutual customers hit my niece back in October 2020. She had advise both of them in the body shop that her traction control is malfunctioning now and she heard a noise coming from the right front side of the car. The customer of liberty mutual made a left-hand turn on her and she hit them which damage the right front side of her car. She had told me that her traction control light just comes on randomly and the car will stop moving or lose power while she’s in motion in the traction control light just Goes crazy. I also witnessed the traction control light on when she dropped her car off at my house so she can use mine. She has called liberty and Body by Cochran in Monroeville Pennsylvania several times to let them know that these issues are ongoing with no results.
So I took matters in my own hands and I called them myself because she had been using my car for the past two weeks. Before that she wishes barring everybody else’s car because nobody was returning her calls. It took six phone calls in two days. It took two phone calls to get a tow truck. The claims adjuster that had been handling her case has never returned her call and that was two weeks ago. We’ve been getting the runaround between liberty mutual and body shop that she’s dealing with still. We had to pay another shop to look at that noise which in turn we were told the axle was damaged. The other axle is fine. It’s just been an absolute nightmare for me and for her.
For me because I’ve had to let her use my vehicle so she can get to work. For her, her car still isn’t technically drivable. The car is back at the shop again. Even the shop was giving me the runaround. I was told by liberty mutual that I need to contact the body shop, but she is the accident victim why should we have to contact the other person‘s insurance company to get her car fixed right? I will continue to call until this is resolved. This has affected me like I said because she’s had to use my car and I’m out of the vehicle because I love her and I’m not gonna let her ride in a car that is not the way it was before and I feel a lot better if she’s in a vehicle that’s safe. Just remember, how would you feel if you were in this situation?

I saw the potential for savings in the Right Track Program. That's why I signed up for it. Even after seeing many reviews that stated it was "impossible" to get a good score, I thought that maybe these people were being dramatic. They say the program will result in you getting a guaranteed 5% discount, up to 30% depending on the results of your 90-day program. I ended up with a 7%. During the program you can view every trip and it gives you a score using four different face expressions. I was thinking that if I can focus on receiving a good score on a majority of my trips during the program that I will ultimately see my savings increase periodically and have a decent savings by the end.
The truth is, it is extremely difficult to get much of a savings. By the end of the 90 days, I would say that 80-85% of my trips had the highest score possible, but my total savings at the end only ended being 7%! How are you supposed to get a 30% savings if having a success rate of 80-85% only gives you a 7% discount? Also, the app gives you an average rating (using the same facial expressions as the trip ratings) of all your trips. With having 80-85% of my trips earning the highest score possible, my overall rating was a 2 (there are four different facial expressions and I had the second to worst as my average rating). That seems wrong. They must weight the average poorly.
Lastly, don't be misled like I was. I believe it was just a miscommunication, but I also believe that they should be absolutely clear about this particular subject. You will receive a 10% discount (it may be different depending on what state you are in) just for participating in the Right Track Program. Then they tell you that you have the potential to save 5%-30% following the completion of the program. What was not made clear to me is that whatever your savings is after the program is finished REPLACES the 10% discount. Since my discount was 7% my policy went up from what it had been during the 90 days of the program.
I am not super upset, because it is still a savings compared to what the original premium would have been, but the fact that I was expecting a savings, and therefore a decrease in my premium, but saw that it went up following the program was disappointing. So, simply, don't be fooled in thinking the savings you earn from the program is in addition to the 10% they give you for participating.

I ended up finding three other options with lower rates and the same coverage. I had policies for 4 vehicles, home, a quad and side by side that I wanted to cancel. I started my new insurance and filled out paperwork to cancel my policy with Liberty starting the day my new insurance began. No problems right!
Wrong! One month after cancelling my policies with Liberty I saw they were still taking money out for my quad and side by side. I figured it was a mistake and they missed cancelling the policy. I called customer service and explained the situation and they young lady I spoke to told me she put it in for cancellation and I would receive a refund. All good, right?
Nope. The next month same thing, I was billed for the quad and side by side. I called again and spoke to someone in billing who had to research why the policy had a cancellation date of April 25 but I was still getting billed. The agent came back and asked me " Did you know if you cancel this policy mid term you still have to pay for it?". Of course I did not know that so I told him no. Well unfortunately you have to pay the full amount of this policy before it will cancel and there is no refund.
I have gone back through the policy paperwork and nowhere does it say this and the agent did not inform me of it and I do not remember signing anything that states this. My advice is to BEWARE of Liberty Mutual. Do not get screwed like I did, even though the customer service agents are nice and try to help they do not have all the information. Of course premiums continue to rise even with no claims and no accidents or tickets, then during this descent pandemic, my wife who is a front line health care worker, had a rock hit her windshield. Previously this was a covered repair at no cost. This time however I was shuffled around and even told by their partner with Safelite that there was a possibility this could be covered considering what my wife does.

I just barely switched to Liberty Mutual from American Family and when signing up I specifically asked about roadside assistance, I was told that it was covered and the services were 100% covered. Yesterday evening after getting back from flying a kite with my 5 year old son, my keys came up completely missing, couldn't find them anywhere & I looked everywhere. So I called roadside assistance to have them come out to have a mobile locksmith make me a key and not only is it very inconvenient to have to do it through their app, I had to call back a 2nd time & speak with customer service agent and he told me I would be covered up to $100 any expense after that I would have to come out of my pocket.
My friend showed up and hung out with me & my son. I was really upset and frustrated because I couldn't find them even after pulling out the fridge, stove, went through my laundry basket, asking neighbors, going through the garbage, etc. Anyway about 2hrs goes by before I realized no one showed up yet for the assistance. I called back to find out from another agent that no help was coming and they wouldn't cover it. Thank god this happened at home and not on the side of the road or at a shopping center with my 5 year old son in the car with me. American Family covered this kind of stuff. I know because I had to call them when I lost my keys at a Chuck E Cheese's in Las Vegas, luckily my keys were found that time FINALLY at customer service and I was able to cancel the roadside assistance claim.
After the 3rd call to Liberty Mutual, I immediately emailed my American Family agent and I'm switching back first thing Monday morning although my rates were a bit higher, my peace of mind knowing someone will be there for me & my son and that they won't just leave me hanging is worth the $50 extra I have to pay. So I opened up a policy with Liberty Mutual for 5 cars, max coverage and 2 homes. The initial agent quoted me for all 7 items and we decided to go through with it. Then, charged my account with outrageous prices, not even remotely closed to the estimated quotes he had given me. I had told him to send me the final prices BEFORE charging my account because I was still insured with another company. He still charged my account without telling me, I had not signed any documents yet. Then I tried calling, texting and emailing him. I kept asking for me him to explain why those prices, what was I getting coverage for, why did he charge my account when I specifically told him not to do that until he had given me final prices. I had to call the 1800 number in order to get my answers and finally cancel everything, because nobody understood what he had done.
At this point my homeowners policy cancelled with Liberty Mutual as well as the one I had previews to them. So I called the 1800 number again to re-instate my homeowners because at this point I didn't have insurance for my home anymore. I figured it'll be easier since they already have all my info, I'll just deal with a different agent. So, I am given a quote way more expensive than the one before, when I ask why - they say it's because I don't have home owners insurance anymore!!!! Which, I did not, because they cancelled both of my policies, so how in the world are you going to charge me more for something they did themselves?????
So then, I am connected with another agent from the same Liberty Mutual. At this point I've already talked to like 10 different agents from different departments to whom I had to explain everything, every single time. SOOOO this last agent, tells me that Liberty Mutual cannot insure my house because I have a diving board and a guard dog at my house????
Long story short, they insured me - then, uninsured me and left me without their insurance, without my previews insurance and wasted 3 weeks of going back and forth with them. On top of the fact that now I am waiting for all the refunds from the money they took out out of my bank account without authorization. Now whichever homeowners insurance I get, will charge me a lot more because I have no insurance at my house. Buyers Beware…You get Much less than you paid for. Liberty Mutual claims "only pay for what you need" in their advertising. We “needed” and expected a smooth process and fair settlement from our claim. We did not get anything close to it. My wife, daughter and I were victims of a hit & run accident. My wife sustained neck injuries and experienced severe pain and limited physical movement for 3 months. She had to quit her job. She had bouts of intense pain for another 6 months and had to continue medical and chiropractic treatment.
At first, the Liberty Mutual team was very helpful when they believed that the perpetrator's insurance company would be responsible. When they determined that the claim would need to be covered by our Liberty Mutual uninsured motorist provision, everything changed. Our claims resolution process took 2.5 years and involved 4 different claims resolution specialists. A few representatives would take weeks to respond to our emails or calls. In good faith, I complied with all of their requests for additional information and documentation. In retrospect, I can see that they were trying to drag the process out for as long as possible. Lawyers are more reluctant to take “older” cases.
In the end, Liberty Mutual offered a ridiculously low amount of money to settle our claim. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Is this what we paid thousands of dollars every year in premiums for? Is this how Liberty Mutual treats is most loyal customers (10+ years and great driving records)? What exactly are we paying for anyways?
Lessons Learned:
1) Try to find an insurance company that lives up to their promises2) If you decide to go with Liberty Mutual, make sure you get a lawyer soon after your accident...you will need one to ensure Liberty Mutual delivers on their promise!

This is a review of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in general...not necessarily this particular office. Although, no matter which LM office you start with, you pretty much just end up getting pushed to a call center if you ever actually need to use your policy for anything. We've been with Liberty Mutual for almost 10 years and have never had an at-fault claim until 2018 when my teenage son rear-ended a vehicle. Liberty Mutual paid out $8,000 for his used car, which was deemed "totaled".
A year and a half after the accident (in February of 2020) we received a notice that Liberty Mutual was dropping us from coverage. They cited a comprehensive glass (windshield) claim in 2018, a tow/labor claim (we had one of our vehicles towed 5 miles after a brake line burst) and then my son's at-fault accident as reasons for their decision. I should mention that the claims department was not easy to work with when my son had his accident... They were very difficult to contact and did not return calls. I ended up writing a detailed timeline of the attempts I made to try to contact my claims rep and sending it to my local agent who contacted her supervisor and eventually got us transferred to a higher level claims representative.
The process took much longer than it should have...about 6 weeks. I did a lot of shopping around for new insurance companies at that point, but because we had a personal relationship with our agent here in Tucson (and because most quotes I received were slightly higher than what we were paying to Liberty Mutual) we decided to stay put. If I had known that we were going to be completely dropped from coverage, I would have gone ahead and switched at that point.
I expected that once the accident hit our policy our rates would increase, but it never dawned on me that we might actually be dropped from coverage! We've been with Liberty Mutual for 10 years. We had our home, four vehicles, one off-road vehicle, two trailers, four family members and an umbrella policy through Liberty. As I said, we loved our local agent and stayed because of him, but in the end, his hands were tied. He told me this week that ours is not the only policy that has been non-renewed. Liberty Mutual has been doing this to lots of clients. Today is February 6, 2020 and we are switching everything over to USAA. Our rates have more than doubled (not because of USAA, that's just what happened when we added a second teenage driver and have the at-fault accident on our record.
My recommendation would be to shop around before buying a policy with Liberty Mutual. Read reviews and Google companies' ratings before making a decision. When you actually NEED your insurance you'll be glad you went with a reputable/highly rated company. In our case, USING our insurance came back to bite us. We did not abuse our policy... e just used it... And Liberty Mutual cancelled our policy because of it.

I have been insured by Liberty Mutual Insurance company for more than 10 years but it ends now. I discovered last year that they removed the wrong automobile from my policy and I was driving without insurance until it came time for renewal and the ID card was not enclosed for this vehicle. Recently, I needed road side assistance and they never picked up the phone. I had to call someone else which resulted in a $250 towing bill. Liberty Mutual reimbursed me $50 which they deposited to an account that I did not authorize and sent the claim report to my daughters address instead of mine. My other daughter had to contact the company three times to get them to send her policies to her address instead of mine.
It appears that if you have the same last name as another insured party, they just randomly choose where to send your personal information without address and policy verification. Do you really want to do business with an insurance company like this one? I plan to leave when my policy expires. I am afraid to do so in advance out of fear that they may send my refund to someone in a foreign country with the same last name.

I was misled! I switched over to Liberty Mutual for a better rate. Which I got! I was told a price, than told, if I use RightTrack I could save up to 30% MORE on my current rate! I confirmed with a question. “If I didn’t use RightTrack would the price stay the same!” I was told “(YES) No change in current price!” The device was delivered and I decided, I didn’t want to use it! I called customer service and was told if I didn’t use it, my current price would automatically go up! (I was completely misled.)
My feelings were, no choice but to use it or cancel my policy, that took more than an hr to get! Customer service convinced me, to give RightTrack a try! I did! You’re definitely more aware of your driving. But braking and acceleration is not all about breaking an acceleration! It’s more of, (monitoring your speed on how fast/slow you go in a certain time frame).
My issues with RightTrack is; (you get events in toll booths, entering/exiting highways). I wouldn’t even be complaining so much if exiting/entering the highway, would be considered as 1 event” But multiple occasions of exiting the highway was counted as 3 events!!!! • Time frame - under 3 seconds! So if that (3 events) happens, they deduct more than $30 (on what you’ve managed to accumulate for weeks in great driving) gone, in under 3 seconds of slowing down. “And The deduction is immediately!” But when you drive “great” for days you may get a few dollars increase! It can take a few hours/ days to see the increase in the app!
• 3 seconds to deduct more than $30.• Great driving for weeks, maybe an increase of $20?!?!
You tell me, what’s fair? My opinion; RightTrack is definitely flawed! I feel like it does not consider situations such as toll booths, exiting/entering highways! Also, for some reason, cloudy days seem to delay the app completely! On a better note the customer service has been fabulous! Conclusion: I do not recommend anyone to try RightTrack! It’s not worth the stress to save under 10% and in some cases may even cause an accident, trying to adhere to rules given to save cash! Unless you’re driving under 100 miles in three months. There’s just too many flaws and definitely is NOT worth the stress & aggravation to save “maybe” 10% on your policy!

I had Liberty Mutual in the past. However, when I moved to Florida they said that they couldn't insure my condo. So, I went to AAA and got a great deal for my car and condo. When I had to move back to MA I called liberty mutual and got a quote for $1100. So, I went to AAA in MA and the same coverage for $683. Recently, liberty mutual had a deal for Hyundai owners. I called and gave the woman who I spoke with my Mapfre (from AAA) info. After a few minutes of reviewing liberty's cost she told me she would have to call me back because there was a problem with her computer. I never heard back from her.
A couple of days later I called liberty and gave the guy who answered the name of the woman I previously spoke with. Rudely, he said "Look mister, we have a thousand people here and I don't know who she is". I know she made an excuse about her computer and never called me back because liberty's pricing is one of the worst in the country. Rude, expensive and lacking customer service.

I got Liberty Insurance renters and auto insurance in 2014 after being referred to one of their agents by the bank who provided my auto loan. I had no accidents or derogatory marks to my driver's license for the bulk of the time I was with them; however, my premium rose substantially each year and they told me it is because of the state I live in although my vehicle was only getting older. And my family and friends who had other insurance for vehicles in the same state had steady reductions to their rates year after year.
By the time I finally left them in 2019, my premium was MORE THAN DOUBLE what I was originally paying, even though the value of my vehicle had decreased significantly. After my policy was canceled, Liberty Mutual was quick to send my remaining balance to a collection agency, not giving me the opportunity to pay it to them; the collection agency also reported it to the credit bureaus right away, which I am currently disputing.
When I did have an accident in late 2018, their response was almost laughable. The ACCIDENT FORGIVENESS THEY ADVERTISE IS A SHAM - they tried to write off the vehicle as a total loss (which it wasn't and would have left me with only enough to get a much lesser vehicle - thank goodness my mechanic convinced them otherwise) and didn't pay enough while the vehicle was being repaired to get a rental, even though this was part of the policy. All this after I was a loyal customer for over five years and even referred a friend when I initially got the insurance with them (which I regret). After reading the policy further, I also realized their renter's insurance barely covered anything. The agent I was originally referred to there by my bank left shortly afterward, and if they treat policyholders this way, I'm sure they treat their employees badly too.
After I left them, I easily found another insurance company that charges me almost half of what they were charging me for full comprehensive insurance in the same state, and I convinced my friend that I referred earlier, who also expressed his unhappiness with the company, to leave them as well. I did my research and called around, which took less than an hour - I'm not into talking reptiles and boxes or comic relief on bundling to help me choose something as serious as an auto insurance provider; of course, the companies with these types of commercials are not targeting informed consumers and aim for a demographic that would more like to be entertained than do research, so I wasn't surprised they offered the highest rates of the companies I contacted. To sum it up, Liberty Mutual has been a gyp and headache.

In my case I did not want the drive wise program or whatever they call it. The salesman said, "No problem. Just don't sign that box, it's an extra discount if you do, but no problem if you don't." 3 weeks later, I get an extra bill for $102. Where do you even begin with an insurance company as terrible as Liberty Mutual? I purchased a motorcycle policy which was in effect for A TOTAL OF 9 DAYS. I cancelled the policy because it covered a motorcycle financed by an abusive manchild that I was lucky enough to escape from with my life. My insurance agent, being an insensitive, predatory, absolutely awful agent, had the audacity to call and repeatedly ask me for my abusive ex's phone number (though I immediately told her WHY I cancelled his policies), because she so desperately wanted to sell him her snake oil insurance and make a few dollars off of my misery.
Despite repeatedly telling her that I was NOT giving her his phone number so that she could go try to cut him a deal, she continued to try to get me to give her his contact info and convince me that she just wanted to check up with him about insurance and make sure he was safe and covered! (WHO DOES THAT!? What kind of insurance agent tries to convince a victim of abuse to think about how her poor abuser might be down and out with no insurance!?) She went as far as repeatedly calling me back, trying to get his number, when I told her it wasn't going to happen and hung up on her. GROSS. THEN I find out that Liberty Mutual went and billed my payroll nearly $600, when I have ONE policy that costs $134/month.
I call them. They say they made an accounting error. I wait a day for them to fix it and then I call back. They tell me, "oh, sorry, none of this is making any sense. We can't figure out how you've been charged SO MUCH because even if you'd paid the motorcycle policy you cancelled for the entire year, it shouldn't have come out to this sum of money. We're going to escalate this to our IT department, turns out it's an IT error, not an accounting error." I wait a day and call them back.. They can't figure it out. For weeks I call and get hung up on while waiting ridiculously long amounts of time on hold. No one has any answers, no one calls back when their line disconnects. Garbage customer service fails are just adding up and adding up, while I'm sitting here unable to afford groceries because these hacks billed 5 months worth of insurance from my PAYCHECK in one month.
I keep trying to find out where my money is and what is going on, I've lost 10lbs and I want to eat some time this year. FINALLY, I get through and they try to tell me they've made no error and that motorcycle insurance can't be cancelled during certain times of the year without having to pay a MASSIVE amount of money. When I bought the policy, I was not informed of this. When I cancelled the policy, I was not informed of this. I never signed any documentation for the full coverage motorcycle insurance that I had, again, for A TOTAL OF 9 DAYS and for which I was charged nearly the ENTIRE YEARS' POLICY AMOUNT. I could literally have paid it for MONTHS, THEN cancelled it and would have shelled out LESS money. The best part is, the first 4 people I talked to told me that even with the prorated policy charge for cancelling, I should NOT have been charged the amount that I was charged.
So, I'm told a half dozen times there's been an error, I was overcharged, they're going to fix it, they're just struggling to find their errors, etc. But today, they suddenly say they've made no error and that it makes all the sense in the world why they would charge me nearly $600, and why no one would ever tell me anything about these ridiculous charges and that, despite every agent beforehand saying that there was an error with the billing, now there was no error made.
So, here I am, after being robbed over $1000 by my abusive ex, out another $600 for his motorcycle policy that barely ever existed because Liberty Mutual agents are incapable of doing math and fixing their errors. On top of that, they've been nothing but awful throughout the entire 7 weeks of dealing with this. Liberty Mutual: garbage policies, terrible rates, awful customer service, predatory woman-abuse-defending fools. The company is a fraud and their agents are HACKS.

Liberty then stated ever excuse not to pay. Finally they just said they are not paying. I have filed a complaint with Arizona Department of Insurance which turned out to be worthless. Have written letters, sent emails, and called - results = no return communications by Liberty. This only leaves litigation. I have now received 2 additional charges for what they feel are changes to the original discount offered. I have called them and get difference explanations of this each time.
I had the right track in the car for 90 days and they came up with some excuse for not offering me the 10% discount I signed up with to now a 6% so I had to pay them back. Claimed the car when driven in the middle of the night which didn't happen. I will not renew with them after the year ends. If they play games with me now what happens if I need them for an accident? The claim representive stated he could not find my policy and when he did located it I was informed I had no rental car coverage which I always carry on all my policies so that was extremely hard for me to believe so on top of spending about 1500 for a month and a half on renting a car and to top it off I was assign the most horrible adjuster in the world. I was rear ended back in August by a young man who's covered by Liberty Mutual. I was at a stop sign waiting for traffic when he plowed into me, and I say that because he thought for some reason I had already gone, so when he went to go he hit the gas pretty hard to get into 35 mph traffic. Fine accidents happen except for the fact that I drive for Lyft full time, and my vehicle is my income.
So when I got home I immediately called his insurance to get the claim going, and then I scheduled an appointment to have an estimate done, because in the state of Nevada you may take your car where ever you like. Also if you're rear ended in Nevada 99% of time it's the driver who rear ended is at fault, no matter what. So I took the car in for an estimate, and thank goodness for that because I had already lost a few days of income because the back end was really pushed in and I can't drive for Lyft with that kind of damage, but my guy was able to pop it out.
Now it's been a few days and I haven't heard anything so I call the rep. who has been assigned to me. After finally getting a hold of him he tells me that the insured hasn't called to claim they were in an accident which doesn't surprise me too much because the kid was only 17 and had his DL for only 6 months. This is where I made a mistake. I didn't call the police at the time of the accident, we just exchanged information because no one was physically injured. I'm telling everyone no matter what always call the police and wait for them to determine who's at fault. If I had an accident report I could've just given them the report number, also they then have to report that to the DMV, because they should know when a new driver is involved in a traffic accident, and he also would've been cited so that there would've been consequences.
So anyways after going back in forth they got a hold of their client and guess what I'm not at fault and they will fix my car. So flash forward to yesterday I finally dropped my car off to get fixed. It took a second for the car manufacturer to make a new back bumper. Now while my car is in the shop I can't drive so once again losing income which can't but Liberty Mutual is not going to reimburse me for loss income, yeah they are paying for a rental car, which by the way I have to pay for the insurance, because they do not, but I can't use that for Lyft. So their POS client hits me, and not only do I lose income but I have to pay for the insurance on the rental car around $100. I'm losing at least $150 a day mid-week not being able to drive for my only job that I have! I can only hope that if I have the misfortune of being hit again that they have decent insurance like I have, USAA!

The other complaint I have is I own my own home. I would not have bought renter's insurance. I have home insurance from another company but yet they charge me $5 a month for 7 months or more for renters insurance that I never asked for however, I trusted the person I was talking to from Liberty mutual, so when the forms were sent over for me to DocuSign online, apparently I should have read the small print or I would have noticed that I signed for rental insurance when it was not needed because I already explained to the person that I own my own home and I didn't need any other insurance except for my car. I trusted the Liberty Mutual representative looking out for her customers, or so I thought and expected.
As like most retirees and of course with medical issues I'm on a fixed income so an extra $5 a month for rental insurance that I didn't need seems a little ridiculous when I think they were aware of that fact that I did not need anything but what I asked for which was auto insurance only. For 3 years I was with Liberty Mutual as a loyal customer and safe driver. Over the course of 3 years, every year the company would raise rates for no apparent reason. The excuses I received were “it’s due to other drivers in your area, other states hit with hurricanes, and etc”. I first of Live in Las Vegas, I’ve always been a safe driver, I have friends who are law Enforcement and when I became Law Enforcement my rates still went up. This company is a utter joke, to find out that they were charging me and others like me who even aren’t Law Enforcement a high rate for other unsafe drivers is ridiculous and wrong. The company hides behind the utter fact that every insurance company does this. I agree to this slightly, but know this isn’t true as I was with 4 other companies prior to Liberty.
The slightly is the company lies because it’s them trying to recoup losses in states that were hit with severe water damages, homes, cars, and etc. They are the ones trying to gain back what they lost in profits to stay afloat. Me as a safe driver being punished by other drivers is a lie, because I spoke to my buddies and other major insurance agents, along with the State Insurance rep and received the same answers in email, writing, and by verbal that it’s the company raising rates due to their loss. The company also claimed Vegas has many unsafe drivers and deals with scams all the time. Ok I get that, but again punish the other drivers not people like myself who bundled everything with you to only be told you're paying for other people who are retarded when it comes to driving.
To say the least I dropped my bundle with them and before when I was being charged a low rate of 220.00 a month for two cars fully insurance with the highest pay backs and low cost of repairs, they upped it to 500.00 a month lol! This company is a joke, this price was without my home. Then during the month of August another driver ran a red light and totaled my car. I thought my rates went up due to that reason and the company says no lol. Liars. I read bs a mile away and all I will say is maybe other people from other states have better service than myself, but this company is a ripoff and lies to keep you as a customer. I’m currently with Geico and have been with them for over 2 years and not one price rate jump, in fact they honor drivers like myself with a track record of safe driving unlike liberty and many foolish companies alike!

They sent me a letter stating that due to my accident and having had my vehicles towed twice that they would not be renewing my insurance. Here is the kicker - they then send me a cancellation confirmation via email that states under reason for cancellation dissatisfaction which is a bold LIE!!! I wasn't dissatisfied until receiving the lame excuse for cancellation. Be careful when considering these people. 922.00 and using my plan paid towing twice got me a little over a year of extreme rates followed by them not renewing my coverage.

Liberty Mutual is easy to switch to with competitive rates and excellent online portal. HOWEVER, you have to watch every email from them, as a couple times each year, I will get a notice that my automatic monthly payment is DOUBLING. I have to call them each time and work through why they are increasing my rates. Each time, I have to sign up for something additional or correct a mistake in their system. If I don't catch that 15 days in advance of when the automatic draft is occurring, they enforce a higher payment for that month. The last time this happened, even though they said they couldn't do it, when I threatened to remove automatic draft and deny that month's payment, they changed it back to the lower payment.
That time, the rate increase was because they were adding my adult son to our insurance policy (automatically, without calling or asking us). We had a separate policy set up for him. Apparently, we were to have filled out a form guaranteeing that he does not live with us. I was not told we would need to fill out the form and missed seeing it in my snail mail. Rather than calling or emailing me to inform me they were changing my policy, they added him to our policy and the payment doubled. They only emailed me to let me know the payment was changing. The email was within 15 days of the auto draft. However, they said they were unable to change the auto draft unless it was more than 15 days out (until I threw a fit).
Another time, they increased my rate due to a "general rate increase." I was able to sign up for the Right Track driver recording program and save money. I feel like I have to be a detective to do business with Liberty Mutual and am working to move my business to another company. They entice you with great rates and then do everything in their power to change them as often as possible. I regret having ever done business with them.

So, they might give you a quote surprising you. You insert your traffic violations and all, and they give you the quote. You think to yourself, "Oh wow, it's a lot lower than I would've thought." "They really do save you money." But this is where they 'GET YOU'. Your first payment goes through, and then the next day you get an email saying your premium has gone up. If you have more than 2 traffic violations expect your premium to go up by $2,000.00. 4 or more traffic violations and you can see your premium going up more than $3,000.00. I asked Liberty if I was covered and they stated that as long as you stayed within 25 miles of the border and it was a trip less than 10 days we would be covered.
After having an accident, Liberty was contacted and they stated we were covered and everything would be taken care of. After a few months of them telling us we was covered, when it was time to pay they back out and state that we're not covered. They state an additional insurance should have been purchase so that they would cover it. So what is the point of them covering my claim if I need to purchase additional coverage? Wouldn't that just make sense to just say, "No you're not covered and you need to buy additional insurance?" That is the logical thing to do. Why say you're covered and then when it's time to pay, you renege on your word and now you find an exclusion to weasel your way out of paying? Horrible service. LM is way more expensive than other companies. (I have Geico now) My driving record is perfect and I found out w/ LM I was paying so much more than others I talked to. I didn't even have collision! I tried to call to discuss getting my policy down in cost. If you call too close to closing hours for the call center you will get hung up on and no call back..cool. And they give no options to get policy cost down. The worse experience with them is when they totally screwed up my bill by forwarding a $400+ balance over months after my policy was renewed from before it was, that had already been paid. So $400+ added on top of my current bill balance. They admitted it was their error. Although trying to get it fixed was painful and took days/hours.
On the final day of trying to resolve it, I spoke with many reps as they kept transferring me because they didn't know how to fix it exactly. The worst rep was a "resolution specialist" named Patty who wasted so much time putting me on hold, giving misinformation and resolving nothing! She said I didn't owe the balance but then when she didn't know how to fix it I guess, then said I did owe it! Even told me to go to another insurance company if I didn't want to pay (what pay twice?)..wow. I asked for a manager and she said none were available (of course) but she could have one call me back...in 24-48hrs!!? She didn't care or think to try to get me a call back sooner, knowing that the incorrect bill was due the next day. I said I need a call back asap today please! And she just said with a snarky attitude, "I'm sorryy but yeahh it probably won't be todayy.. 24-48 hrs, anything else I can help you with?". Ha obviously you can't or won't help me, very frustrating.
I hung up with her, called right back and luckily I got someone w/ some intelligence named Christine or Kristina. She pretty much right away was able to see what happened, understood my frustration and apologized. She was able to fix and resolve the issue with ease. She was great and we need more like her who actually care to help customers and have the ability to do so. She should be a resolution specialist instead of Patty who was useless. I also never did get a call back from a manager. Even if he/she saw the issue was resolved it would have been nice. So If you get a rep that won't help..just call back until you get to someone that will.

There are no car accidents on my end, I used to drive the car for 5 years. Right after I got the email, I called the sale department and asked for explanation, they didn’t know why it was increased, but promised to make it as low as 130$ per month. The next day I checked the policy, it was still not updated. The second call to sale person on the next day gave the following information: “The system takes 1 month to update your plan with payments“. Okay, I told myself. After one month nothing changed and the price remained to be the same (no changes in policy and price).

I was reasonably happy with Liberty Mutual's automobile insurance until I received my renewal notice this year. My annual rate was increased from $850 to over $1600 annually over the prior year. I did file one claim in which I backed into another car in a parking lot and did minor bumper damage to that car and none to my car. The total claim paid out was about $850.00. When I spoke to a policy clerk about the doubling of my insurance I was told it was due to the above claim and that this was the reason they re-evaluated my "risk factor". I have had a perfect driving record for over 20 years and no major claims over a lifetime of driving. I am 73 years old and in excellent health. The agent told me it was not possible to review the underwriting rate increase and that all he would do is look and see if I might receive additional policy discounts. There were none available.
The only thing I can assume is that the huge increase is due to my age. Age discrimination? I would feel better if I knew my risk-factor was actuarily proven. But since I was able to immediately obtain the same policy limits through Progressive Universal Insurance after providing my age and the claim information from Liberty Mutual, it doesn't seem likely that it is based on sound actuarial analysis. I also have a homeowner's insurance policy with Liberty Mutual but rest assured that I will change my insurance company for this insurance as well.

We asked them for representation and support in the accident, because we were not getting proper help from the other insurance company. Our claims adjust was going on vacation and said she would help us as long as we didnt cash the check.

Apparently when you use their roadside assistance that YOU pay extra for it is considered a claim. Which we only had 1. And 2 windshield chips apparently are also a claim-which you pay extra for. After an entire week of my car sitting at an auto body shop for an estimate because their power was down they had the nerve to call me after I made several calls and email request to try and total out my car.
They allowed this dealership to add all of these charges so that they could get a big check for my repairs without even asking me if all those repairs were even needed. I tried for days to get a response from the adjuster Sardar and his manager. His manager never returned my calls and he returned my calls whenever he felt like it. So when I called to cancel the renters, I learned of the auto policy lapse and they said, “Oh yeah. We’re still taking money from your account for that. Let’s go ahead and cancel it today!” Now I’m pretty sure they owe me money! So when I spoke to the customer service they sucked and nobody could help me. Now in order to renew my insurance that lapsed that I didn’t even know was lapsed they want to charge me 100% down and they raised my rates from $158 monthly to $458 per month for two accidents that were not my fault and they’ve been recorded to show they were.
An attorney review of this is worth it because bad business practices and poor ethics unfortunately cause problems for people that think they can count on others to do what they’re supposed to do. Liberty Mutual is a big company and they make a lot of darn money. You can’t tell me that they don’t have enough money to send renewal notices out or to pick up the damn phone and call their customers. Look online people! There are hundreds of complaints that are exactly like this one so if you have a Liberty Mutual you might want to get out of your policy now before you have a problem and if you don’t have them then don’t choose to go with them! Because unfortunately in the end you’re going to pay a price like all the rest of us have!
