Everything I read is true. Dentists' data base is old or no long exist. Can't get my refund. They told me it's like insurance.

What a scam! First, being put on autopay and not being able to cancel. Second -- and this is the biggest problem -- they don't maintain their dentist database AT ALL, listing many providers and locations that no longer take their plan. I called to complain about this, and of course got the accountability-avoiding line, "that's up to the dentists to update us." NO -- It's up to THE COMPANY THAT OFFERS THIS PLAN AND TAKES MY MONEY FOR THIS PLAN. They literally take your money for a product you THINK you're getting, only to find out after the fact -- and having to spend hours/days calling dentists, facilities, etc., yourself -- that almost NONE of the dentists they list in their coverage actually take their coverage.
It's a textbook bait-and-switch tactic. They take your money and then say it's not their fault that the product isn't what they advertised. TOTAL RIPOFF. Keep in mind that nowadays, lots of dentists offer their own in-house savings plans that compare to these fraudulent plans, but unlike the plans on DentalPlans.com, they're actually accurate and you'll actually be able to use them.

Even though this happened in 2022, I'm still going to review this company. I called them to refund a charge and requested closing the account since the user, my mom, had passed. I tried to recover around $178.00 (I don’t remember exactly) membership fee because my mom passed the month before it renewed. I went through two agents that had me send member info, bank info etc to several emails. I had also placed a call to the Cancellation Dept. to explain the issue. I spoke to Miguel **, the agent who said he was going to take care of the refund after I submitted all the information he asked for. I waited for a call back. No call back.
I had the 30 day window when I called. I tried to connect with this company and tried to get the refund once more but passed the 30 day window trying to resolve this. Neither the agent nor the Cancellation Dept. were competent enough to follow through or to note my account with the issue to each other. So I lost over a hundred that I had requested within the cancellation time because of inefficient employee handling. DentalPlans.com left a bad taste in my mouth. Their reputation for difficult cancellations, convoluted sales pitches or just plain ignoring of the client is not off the mark. I should have filed with the BBB. In any case, I am posting this to add to the reviews indicating mishandling of account closures and non-refunds during the 30 day window of resolution.

They sign you immediately into a plan and don’t give enough time to review your choice and you can’t go back and change. You can’t change your moline before charging you the fees. I tried to call and wasn’t able to speak with anyone. Took my number and promised to call back in one hour. Never received a call back from them. They charged couple as a family when there were no children. It’s very expensive and frustrating. Bad customer service.

Dentalplans.com is impossible to cancel. Never put it on auto pay like they request because they will charge you and not refund anything without a big problem. They don't pay on time. They never call when renewal comes up like they say. It is a waste of your money, most dentist offices have cheaper cost if you just tell them you will pay with a credit card. I had the plan for 6 years and called to cancel twice and they did not actually cancel it, then charged me and wouldn't refund the whole amount they charged the card.

Using this company discount in lieu of paying for exorbitant prices for insurance has its benefits and draw backs. The first time in a few years this is the first time I've had issues with them. The fee schedule they post from access after logging into my account is not the same as the dentist office. There was one code on my treatment plan that the dentist had a cost for $150 but the web site showed $81.50. I disputed this with the dentist who insisted they were right because they had a fee schedule from Aetna. When I showed the web site cost I told them they needed to call Dental Plans to get this resolved. They then realized they did not have an updated fee schedule OR the web site was wrong.
In any case, it's a disservice to me the customer/patient when I had to wait for an hour to get this resolved. It was not resolved and the code on the treatment plan was not charged because they ended up not performing this code. I lucked out but I should not have had to go through this drama. I doubt there will be resolution as the dentist office was on the phone with Dental Plans who escalated it and then was told it would take 24-48 hours to get others involved. I suggested they call Aetna directly since it was obvious Dental Plans could not (would not?) provide the dentist with an updated list. And of course the dentist would not budge because they don't look at the web site as official.

Ended going thru Bank of America and they were able to get me a refund ($400 for two years). No customer service support at all. Beware of these guys.

I believe they have a responsibility to assure the information listed is accurate or refund my money!

This is not a dental plan. It is misleading to call the website "DentalPlans" when in reality it's only a membership card. They are just collecting money from their members and you think you can save. It's like a pyramid scheme, you purchase a membership without any benefit. I tried canceling but they're pushing for renewal plan and other so called plan but it's just another membership with different name. They have it set-up on automatic renewal, if you do not check, they are just automatically collecting your money without your knowledge. I tried using it once but the dentist said it's just a membership card. Okay we recognize it but you still pay the same.

I let the rep know and he rudely stated that I must not be filtering the search for participating dentists correctly. Geez.

DentalPlans.com is really a scam!! At beginning of 2024, I had a dental plan and was so difficult ar the dentist office to being accepted, neither coverage for services that according to Dental Plans will get a "discount", I felt totally ashamed and nervous at the office before the reception on what I had to cover for dental services, they got hard time to contact Dental Plan, neither the plan covered the services, neither a discount, it seems like a fake plan policy, as they use to deal with prestigious and recognized dental insurances. Now, just at Dec 2024, I saw my credit card charged for renewal and higher cost that I did not authorize, neither thought of renewal, I ended up reporting a fraud for unauthorized charges.

I called Cigna and they confirmed the price I paid for what they said was the most common crown. I asked, if this is the most common crown, why don't they list this price? They didn't have an answer.

I didn't need plan for two people anymore, just one, yet they took out money for two. Went on website, still had my card info in there, WHY!!?? I TOOK IT OUT.
Gave me a month free for inconvenience. Not really, that's advertised already. These people are shady. Supervisor over talks you and puts you on mute because he doesn't want to hear what you have to say when it comes to YOUR account. RUDE! Customer service, RUDE, sourced out to Dominican Republic. No respect whatsoever. Asked her name twice, couldn't understand her. She got attitude. Said, "Yah, that's my name." WELL YOU THINK YOU WOULD HAVE SPELLED YOUR NAME!!! I purchased this plan on February 21, 2024. My provider had complications locating information as to whether, or not I could have discounted services at her office. At first she couldn’t get through. Then she just wasn’t able to verify any type of coverage. After weeks of delay, I needed to see a dentist because I had an emergency. I had a fracture in my molar. If I had been able to obtain an appointment to fill my tooth this wouldn’t have happened. Upon going to a dentist for this emergency, I was told there wasn’t anything in the system to verify using this dental plan.
Needless to say after paying them for the office visit out of pocket to temporarily fix the fracture they wanted $1200 to fix the molar. I went to my regular dentist whom I found out does take emergencies. She gave me a temporary fix without charging me a dime. I need a root canal, and a crown now which is going to cost me hundreds. Today I called to cancel, and I was refunded a prorated amount. I DO NOT recommend this company at all. Now I need to pay more than was originally going to because of their lack of providing information to my provider. Although I lost money… never got to use one dentist. I hope this review helps someone else. It’s always a good idea to READ reviews in totality before buying into a scam.
Hi Yvette,
We're sorry to hear about this experience. We're always here to help plan members find a participating dentist and help offices provide plan members with the right savings. However, we know questions can still come up and we're looking into why this took so long to resolve with your dentist. When I went to the dentist in 2021, I had no dental coverage. The girl in the office offered me a discount plan for $150 for the year. I said sure, as it was going to get me almost half off. The girl in the office apparently did whatever necessary to sign me up and never advised me of the auto renewal. I was never given a card with a member ID or anything. I assumed it was something through Aspen Dental, not a third party. I NEVER sign up for anything with any auto-renewal, much less one that is $167. I just tried to make a purchase and my card was declined for insufficient funds. So I went to my account and saw this company had taken out $167. So I called them and asked what the deal was.
They had to use my phone number to find the account because I didn't have any login info, I'd never even heard of the company. I was told I signed up in 2021 with annual auto renewal. Turns out they charged me last year also (somehow I never noticed, but I went back and in fact I was charged). I told them, "I want it immediately cancelled and my money refunded." I was told as the transaction is still pending, that they just need to cancel and the hold will be removed and my money returned to my account. I said, "I never approved you taking it out of my account last year either and want a refund for it." I explained that I'd never pay $167 for something and not use it. The guy I spoke with, Manny, claimed that it was my fault because they sent me emails telling me they were renewing.
I don't open what I believe to be junk mail and that is what I thought this was. He said there is nothing that can be done. He was extremely condescending and continued to cut me off and not let me speak. I asked for his supervisor and he claimed he was the supervisor. So I said, "Let me speak to whoever is above you," and was told there was no one. He then said he'd have to submit a ticket to have someone call me back, but it would be a few hours. He claims there is no one who can speak to me at 12PM CST. It's completely ridiculous. So not only was my issue not resolved, I was treated poorly by this guy Manny who claimed to be a supervisor, which I don't even believe because why would a supervisor answer a regular call?

Two of the dentist's offices that I contacted said they give a 10% discount to seniors over 65 (which I am) and one also had a 5% cash discount, in addition. Since the dentists didn't accept the plan, I would suggest EMAILING or CALLING any dentist that you are considering and ASKING before you spend your hard earned money. So, I went online to search dental plans and came across www.dentalplans.com also know as Dentegra. Sounded good. HOWEVER, after signing up I discovered I could get dental insurance through my employer four days later. I went online to cancel the plan which offered a 30 day Money Back Guarantee BUT NO! You can't just cancel online, you must call them and be subjected to a totally annoying speech which basically is meant to intimidate you into keeping the plan, otherwise known as customer retention. Then, once they agree to cancel your plan, you're put on hold FOREVER, while they "process your request".
Once they come back on the line you're told they'll credit everything EXCEPT for a $20.00 Non-Refundable Processing Fee. I told the representative that that was not acceptable as I only had the plan for four days and had never even utilized it. She told me she would AGAIN have to put me hold and check with her supervisor (no doubt in the hopes I would just hang up). She FINALLY came back on the line and told me that her supervisor would make an exception in this case and refund the $20.00 fee. BUYER BEWARE!!!
