Refrigerator does not get cold. The ice maker does not work after a replacement and after one replacement of the entire refrigerator whereby I lost more than $300.00 in food in 2018, I feel like I am owed reimbursement. Whirlpool should be made to reimburse all the people who have commented negatively about their irresponsibility and neglect.

Model: WRX986SIHV00. Refrigerator is 11.5 months old and we have had the light module replaced twice. Lights inside go out or go dim. Three times lights went out completely and the fix was shut the power off for a minute and then turn back on, bingo lights go on, did this three times and it stopped working all together. Finally had to call service to have the tech replace the module which is located in the freezer. Warranty service to get a new light module for the LED lights... This part needs to be re-engineered so it would last. I was told it would fail again in 6 months. Very disappointing that this will be a continuing problem.

I purchased a range and refrigerator from Whirlpool and have had nothing but problems with them ever since. I've only had the range for years and (2) of the top burners are no longer working. Again, the refrigerator is only 5 years old and its handle has broken 5 times. I have needed to replace the handle every year that I've owned the refrigerator. Whirlpool only offered a (1) years warranty for these faulty appliances and then immediately started to bug me about purchasing an extended warranty. I guess they knew that their junk would hold up, so they started pushing a warranty. Finally, their customer service while apologetic, are very robotic and appeared to have heard my complaint before. So, SAVE YOURSELF SOME AGGRAVATION AND PURCHASE ANOTHER BRAND. For if you don't heed my warning just know that you've been warned.

Second time in 3 years our freezer/fridge has gone out. Same symptoms as last time, which was a bad motor. Repaired BY WHIRLPOOL. Completely useless. I don’t expect to have to replace a refrigerator every three years. Especially when I paid $$$$ for it to begin with. DO NOT BUY!! We will be switching brands. And as the installed items in our house start to go (yeah, they’ve already had to service an oven installed at the same time 3 years ago too) they too will be replaced with other brands. You’ve lost a lifetime customer! Shame on you Whirlpool.

I'm 61 so I have some experience. I personally know fridges that have lasted over 20 years. I just Googled it and found out the norm is 14 to 17 years. This hunk of crap lasted 4 years. As soon as I got it home and plugged it in (4 yrs ago) the most noticeable thing was the noise. It sounded like a tractor! I considered taking it back (wish I did). Then after a couple of years the pull handle came off! The whole time we had to be careful the door was closing properly. It was problematic. I've owned (and re-sold) about a dozen fridges in my life. This the first one to fail on me. It was bad from day one!

We are now over a month without a working fridge/freezer because of the lack of Whirlpool care. Our brand new Whirlpool fridge stopped working after 3 days. That was nearly a month ago. I have wasted hours on the phone with rude reps from both Home Depot and Whirlpool. A new one with multiple dents was attempted to be delivered today which I wouldn't sign for knowing I'd be stuck with it. Now we have to wait 2 weeks for another one. A $100 compensation doesn't nearly cover our food loss let alone a family of 4 living without a functioning fridge and freezer. I will never purchase Whirlpool again!

The part took over a week to get and by the time he shows up to fix the refrigerator, it has now been TWO WEEKS with out our $4,000 refrigerator not working properly. Well, after trying to replace the part and spending 45 minutes on the phone with some engineer, it still wasn’t fixed. He Says to us “hey good news you're getting a new refrigerator”. The day that engineers had to sub-come to the marketing departments or bean counters is the day that most products became throw-away products! Whirlpool Refrigerators have always been well made and a good value, until recently.

    1) The overall quality of materials is very poor for a $1700 refrigerator.

    2) The door loudly "clanks" when it opens as there are no door stops like on the older units.

    3) The interior plastic bins are very cheap and slide poorly (usually binding). We feel sure they will break within a year or two.

    4) This is a French Door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. The freezer slides out similar to most such refrigerators. The slide works smoothly at this time but is plastic. The slide out tray that hold the ice does not slide out smoothly at all.

    5) We did not want another refrigerator with an ice dispenser as they have always failed within a few years. This unit's ice maker is (obviously) in the lower freezer section. The ice is stored in a bin in the top of the freezer...you slide the tray out to get the ice. That part is fine with us, HOWEVER...this is the LOUDEST ice maker we have ever had. Literally, the first night that we owned this unit I jumped from bed thinking that someone has broken into the house! The ice maker makes a loud hammering bank, then noisily starts dumping the ice. This unit has awakened us more than a few times due to this obvious design defect.

    6) Because of the above we cannot recommend this Refrigerator, and thus probably the entire Whirlpool line of Refrigerators. As we had to buy this sight unseen (something we will never do again) we did not know about the cheap build quality of some of the parts. And even if we had seen the unit we would not know about the ice maker. BUT HEY...IT IS PRETTY!!!

Purchased this simple 30" wide fridge July 2017 to fit a short kitchen slot. It worked adequately, but it only had 3 temp settings. The highest setting was too warm and coldest froze food in the fridge within days. The middle setting was a little cold but the best option. Food in the back did occasionally freeze and we had to be careful for vegetables in the drawer freezing. Often we wrapped lettuce and more fragile veggies in towels to absorb moisture and slow down freezing. Two years after buying - almost to the day - the fridge stopped cooling below 45F. The freezer still worked, so I thought it might be fixable. I tried some DIY repairs from a couple of websites but nothing worked. Within a week, the fridge temps were up to 50-55F. I gave up on buying ice and keeping food in coolers. I bought a GE and haven't looked back.

Bought this fridge at Best Buy because it was beautiful and thought it would go perfect in my new home. We allowed the fridge to regulate for 72 hours (even though it only needs 24) and it didn't cool properly or make ice. 3 calls later to the 800 number (along with three scheduled repair visits) and I'm getting the run-around. 1st excuse was that I needed to order parts. 2nd excuse was that it was a bad sensor due to the manufacturer. The 3rd excuse was that the fridge door wasn't aligned properly, thus not sealing properly and not allowing the fridge to regulate, which causes it to freeze over. My ice maker also hasn't worked once in this entire ordeal. The issue still isn't resolved and I am vowing to never spend thousands of dollars on this brand again. Spare yourself the headache and go with a less glitzy, more trusted brand.

Horrible "Customer Experience". After having my Whirlpool side by side with bottom freezer for 5 months it quit cooling (both freezer and refrig portions). This happened on a Saturday evening and Whirlpool was closed until Monday (no emergency service shown on their website for my area). Whirlpool contacted their service agent and they could not come out until Wednesday. Service tech said compressor was bad and had to order new one. Compressor arrived the next day however they could not come back until the following Monday to install. By this time I was without a refrigerator for 9 days.

Techs installed new compressor and by Tuesday it quit cooling again! Tech came out the next day and said he thought the problem was the compressor and now says it's the evaporator. I had to wait until the next week before they would come and install the new evap. By that time I will be without a refrig/freezer for 16 days. I contacted Whirlpool customer service and talked to several different people and all they would offer me is $50. I will never purchase a Whirlpool product again!

Called Whirlpool for help solving the problem and they basically told me there was no "fix". It was my bad water. My water is wonderfully pure and good tasting. It only is bad from the ice in, what I consider a new fridge. They did want to make an appointment for a tech to come out and check it. I don't know why when they told me it cannot be fixed. So sorry we bought a Whirlpool and will never buy any of their products again. Hopefully this will help someone else.

Unfortunately they tell me it’s out of the one year warranty process and they can’t help me. Well look like the 2nd replacement should have been under warranty still. Their products are a piece of crap and they know it and don’t care because they're making money off of the consumers. Be aware and advise you to stay away from Whirlpool appliances. They don’t stand behind their brand. There’s no way anyone should have to be making repairs on a new 2000 and sum refrigerator. Finally, they agreed to replace a new one. Now I still have the same problem with a newer one which they replaced it over a year ago (including fixing and placing time). Just called to the Whirlpool company today for fixing or replacing, spoke to rep Sara, she said that it’s no longer under warranty because it’s more than 1 year. Don’t have that problem anymore because the fridge is so loud it scares them off. Talking to Customer service was the most frustrating thing of all. They think if they say your name in a nice soft tone long enough it will make everything ok. Mother and father raved about Whirlpool products. How times have changed. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of these products. Also, look up the other brand names made in the same factory and steer clear of those as well. I used to think appliances were all the same. I questioned the delivery persons and was told it would become quieter with time. It did I not. In fact, in the following days it got worse. I contacted Whirlpool and was sent an “approved” repairman. The confusions and scheduling difficulties in this process, however, were many. Finally, when the man did arrive. He listened and said the refrigerator was working but agreed it was loud but apologized there was nothing he could do.

I called Whirlpool again several times to note the noise and constantly was given the sympathy of people saying they “understood but there was nothing they could do.” Finally, out of desperation I contacted the store where I had purchased the refrigerator and they sent a manager who agreed the unit was unreasonably loud and took the refrigerator back. I researched the Whirlpool company and found they are essentially the same company that makes several other common American name brands, so I made a point not to purchase from any of these companies. Instead, I purchased from a foreign manufacturer and couldn’t be happier. All I can say is I tried to buy American but have been greatly disappointed by both the product and lack of customer service by Whirlpool. I will not buy from them or their other companies again.

This Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer Model W10314956B was purchased from Lowe's on June 29, 2012. Recently noticed rust appearing under ice/water dispenser tray. Requested warranty service, but was told the problem was considered "DUE TO WEAR & TEAR"! TOTAL COP-OUT! There are NO MOVING PARTS in this area; how can there be 'WEAR and TEAR'? To my mind, this can only be charged as SHODDY MANUFACTURING or INADEQUATE QUALITY CONTROL by the manufacturer.

This appliance is only 6 1/2 years old! Consumers expect refrigerators to last much longer than that. The only possible cause for this problem is as stated above: poor quality control by the manufacturing plant, and I completely discount being told the problem was due to 'WEAR and TEAR'! I will think long and hard before I ever even CONSIDER purchasing another Whirlpool product, and maybe YOU SHOULD TOO!

One issue that keeps gnawing at me is HOW, since this is supposed to be a 'STAINLESS STEEL' refrigerator, can it rust? The best answer I found on Google was that it's likely due to insufficient chromium in the mixture of metals used to make 'stainless steel'. To me this continues to point to shoddy workmanship at the manufacturing plant. I have pictures of the problem, but for some reason I'm unable to copy them to this complaint. Probably because Whirlpool is afraid of pictures that confirm their shoddy craftsmanship!

I found out about the design flaw from talking to the repairman that replace the ice maker who works for Dick Kearsley Clearfield UT. He told me that Whirlpool knows about the problem for the 22 cubic foot and 25 cubic foot refrigerator and that is why they have 2 different new wire harnesses in the box for replacement of the old wiring harness.

I only had whirlpool Fridge. Model # WRT318FZDM for 6 wks (bought at Home Depot) and have lost $300 worth of holiday groceries already due to freezer not freezing (ie: ice, ice cream, etc. melting). And when I made the adjustment to the ONLY higher setting avail., I then had a warming in the refrigerator section (apples room temp, water condensation forming on all other items, making them unedible). Problem is there is only ONE CONTROL KNOB that operates BOTH the freezer and frige areas, so if you make one colder the other goes warmer! I had it at normal setting from when they installed it, and only few wks ago started to notice my food going bad so did everything the manual stated (making sure vents cleared, is area overloaded = "NO it's not overloaded", etc. etc.) so the ONLY option was to put the temp control up one notch (and ironically it is the ONLY other setting above normal avail!).

Since you can't reset either the freezer or fridge separately from each other, you have a ridiculous choice of either having all your frozen items now OVER FREEZE, because you now had to bump it up past normal, while then having all your fridge items get all wet and room temp (because setting isn't on normal anymore), or if you leave setting at normal where fridge items start to normalize, then your freezer items now melt! I've read the massive reviews on this co. about awful experiences of sending out repair people 'many' times to fix the same issue, which would last only a short time before they would have to come out again, and again, and how this continued until warranty expired, and customer still dealing with issue only now at THEIR expense!

THIS IS A BRAND NEW FRIDGE and should NOT be having problems within the first month of using it! I have now had to file a claim thru PayPal to try to get my money back so I can purchase another (more reputable?) brand of fridge, since Home Depot won't let you return appliances after 48 hrs (which is an insane policy! But no doubt they are aware of Whirlpool's bad reputation (after seeing the never ending bad reviews that get posted about them all over the internet!) and Home Depot doesn't want to lose $ on the many returns they would have to deal with, if they changed their policy beyond their ridiculous 48 hr period. AVOID WHIRLPOOL ANYTHING (including their Washer/dryers...which I have had nothing but problems with as well!).

Repairman said design is notorious for this problem. This was an ongoing problem. They replaced icemaker and it continued. Finally the warranty people told me it could be deemed a lemon if repaired for the same issue 4 times in a year. They deemed it a LEMON and I received a store credit for the purchase price less the warranty amount. I purchased a new LG French door. No issues and it's been 5 years. If you have an extended warranty do some checking on the lemon.

I had ancient appliances (refrigerator, microwave, range, and dishwasher) that were all mismatched and were in the house when I purchased it in the mid 1990's. I saved up my money and even though my old appliances were working fine, I wanted stainless steel and everything to match so I decided to go ahead and replace my refrigerator, microwave, range, and dishwasher. I decided on Whirlpool since the company has been making appliances for many years and I thought they made a good product. I bought those appliances in 2012.

In 2015, the microwave started to malfunction. At first, it would light up and act as though it was working, but it wasn't. I had it repaired - they said it was a fuse - and the fuse repair cost me about $75.00. It worked for about 2-weeks. I called the repair guy back and they didn't charge me, thinking it was something they did wrong when they fixed it. This time it worked for about a week when it went out again. Not wanting to miss any more work waiting on a repair guy, I went to Lowe's and bought a pack of the appropriate microwave fuses and replaced the fuse myself. This time it worked about three weeks - I noticed it was popcorn that seemed to kill the microwave. I finally gave up repairing it when I used up all the fuses in the pack from Lowe's. I bought a GE Microwave and it has been a dream. It does a better job all around and looks a lot better than the Whirlpool. I no longer have matching appliances but at least they work!

But that's not all. Now the Whirlpool refrigerator has been slowly dying. It has been groaning and creaking since I had it installed but it has gotten so loud that I have to sleep with white noise so that it doesn't wake me up. Yesterday, I took out a Drumstick ice cream cone from the freezer - they are the cones that have chocolate covered ice cream with nuts. I bit into the chocolate coating and the ice cream all spilled out like milk! Looks like Whirlpool struck again and I am not even going to bother to repair it. I just hope I don't get food poisoning until I can get it replaced. And...the dishwasher. Well, it won't dispense the Jet Dry liquid if I fill up the reservoir. I have to fill it only half way or it won't work. I had to use an eyedropper to get the tank down to half. It doesn't really get the dishes clean either. My 20+ year old one I got rid of was 100% better than this Whirlpool dishwasher.

Luckily, I hardly ever use the range...and when I do, it's a burner or two so I haven't had any problem with it yet. I am thinking of replacing it anyway simply because I don't want - ever - anything that says Whirlpool in my home. I was so excited when I decided to buy new appliances. I was finally going to have something new and nice in my home...or so I thought. Instead I wasted my money and got aggravation instead of joy. I don't know about others but I will never buy Whirlpool appliances again- never ever. And now I feel like my money was stolen from me -- and my joy definitely was stolen.

It worked for a while and would freeze, so I had to take out bin and put it back to get ice cubes. Later ice cubes fell on the floor. Five years later ice cubes started coming out of a vent on the inside of the fridge. The freezer got iced over and was leaking. So I put towels near the freezer to keep the floor dry. I had a repairman check the freezer after it had thawed out after four days. The fridge was leaking into the freezer, causing rust. I was quoted over $800 for a repair. The replacement part is no longer available. So I had my French door refrigerator hauled away. Using bags of ice and cooler for food. Not happy with Whirpool French door refrigerator.

Purchased this French door fridge with the freezer on the bottom in September 2017. Started having problems shortly after with the freezer not auto defrosting/ice damming on the evaporator unit in the freezer unit, which caused the fridge to warm up and food to spoil. Service came out several times and ultimately replaced the Jazz board 3 times, 2 harnesses in freezer, 1 Heater and the evaporator fan motor, with the same problem happening after a few weeks. Requested a replacement after the 3rd visit, but Whirlpool refused to back up their product.

Sent service a few more times to no avail. Demanded a replacement once again. They sent a new service company out 15 months after our original purchase and they FINALLY deemed it non-repairable and are FINALLY going to replace it (turned out to be a broken wire inside the walls of the fridge, likely was like that upon delivery). So now we will have been put out for a total of 16 months for a fridge that cost >$1000. If I'm spending that on an appliance I expect it to work properly or else be fixed/replaced in a TIMELY fashion.

And the best part: they refuse to compensate us for any of the food that was lost due to a faulty product and very poor customer service! That was a lot of money lost because of their incompetence. If they had just replaced the broken appliance in the first place I would have been satisfied. But since they refused to do anything beneficial to remedy the situation, I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool appliance again. And add in the inconvenience of scheduling a time to be home for multiple visits to greet the repairman. The 2nd guy came out after the first guy messed around long enough for the warranty to expire. We went ahead, and replaced the startup relay (most common problem). He replaced the control board, and wire harness. He said if that didn't fix it he didnt know what else to do. 2 hours after he left the fridge was right back to doing the same thing. He failed to report back to Whirlpool that the fridge couldn't be repaired.

We contacted customer service, and their resolution was to get another repairman to come out, and replace the control board which had already been replaced. In the end they bailed on us, and left us stuck with a broke refrigerator, and we had to buy a new one ourselves. I might add it was not a Whirlpool. They spent $471 trying to fix a broken fridge, and wanted to send another repairman (another $100) to fix a $629 refrigerator how does that make any sense. The doors were again out of line so badly that you had to push the refrigerator door side hard to get it to close. Repairman came today and stated he would recommend ditching the refrigerator as the "risers" in the bottom of the refrigerator are made of plastic and will continue to break. He leveled the doors but stated that they will continue to become out of line again.

The repairman stated that this is a design defect in the Whirlpool refrigerator and he has replaced the risers in many of the refrigerators repeatedly. As if the refrigerator isn't enough, we own a Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer. Within 3 1/2 yrs the motherboard went bad in the washer and we had to replace it. The part and labor was almost $400. Whirlpool considered us a "valued" customer and offered us a comparable washer for $500 and they would take ours away for $20 extra. Only problem is that our original washer was $1,000 and the comparable was not as large as the one we had and did not have the stainless ours had.

So they're happy with you spending $150 each time the repair guy comes out. 7 refrigerators all for the same reason and they're only 3 years old. Do you really want to purchase a Whirlpool product after that? We are a development that has furnished are condos with Whirlpool but will no longer.

I've had the fridge dump water in my floor every 3-4 weeks. 4 repairmen, 3 repairs... nothing was ever fixed. Even though I purchased an extended warranty, Whirlpool will no longer repair my 23 month old refrigerator. They are offering an exchange (32 cubic ft. down to 27 or 28----comparable??? absolutely not!!). Horrible service. I have to sit on hold for 45 minutes to an hour just to speak to a person. Another hour to deal with the extended warranty. I will never ever purchase anything with the Whirlpool name. I have other appliances and I'm not happy with the performance of any of them. Dryer won't dry. Dishwasher leaves dried soap after 3 hour wash. Washing machine leaves soap on my dark clothes... And it goes on and on.

Bought a home with a Whirlpool WRF540CWBM01 french door refrigerator circa Oct 2016. The unit stopped freezing/cooling and the appliance guy replaced a relay and this did not help. I called Whirlpool to check on the warranty, only 1 year. Then, I called the extended warranty and they wanted $342 for 1 year and $567 for 3 year but wanted 60 days before this would go into effect. Hmm, wait 2 months w/out a working fridge, great idea. So, after 2 short years the compressor failed and nobody will attempt this job and cost is too high. Had to buy a new GE fridge w/ a 5-year parts/labor covering this type of issue. Whirlpool needs to fix these issues. Very disappointed.

Worst appliance we have ever bought. Our last fridge (also stainless french door) we had for about 14 or 15 years and only the door bins cracked that we put gallon milk jugs in (don't do it - they are too heavy and get warm from the door opening). This fridge is a piece of junk. We were told it was stainless - rust spots started appearing the first year. The deli drawer lid broke within a month or two, but I didn't care about that so I just threw it away. The ice machine stopped working a little after the first year.

Today however is what got me to write a review - I spent a couple of hours trying to duct tape and make wood supports to hold up the frame for the produce drawers - one of which is totally cracked when it fell from having the support break. While doing this I noticed there are hairline cracks on the front of all 4 of the shelves! Also, this one has a wire basket in the bottom instead of a full drawer - probably more supportive, but it means stuff constantly falls into the bottom of the fridge and it is extremely hard to get in there to clean.

I purchased two Whirlpool refrigerators 9 years ago and this year, 2018, both of them died. Bad compressors that cost up to $700 to replace. Repair folks would not guarantee them as there could also be other issues, like leaks in the internal parts of the refrigerator. I have a 20 year old frig (Kenmore) in my garage than runs great, no repairs and is in a non heated area. My conclusion is that that Whirpool reduced cost by making cheap products.

Whirlpool French Door Plus 3 drawers: This MSRP $3400 refrigerator has great features. Great ice makers. No issues up top. First 18 months were great. 4 repairs in the past 11 months. All freezer temp issues. We had noticed a number of ice sparkles forming on our unopened food. Frozen fruit was mushy. Temp usually read 0 degrees. One day I opened it and the temp was 40. Two hours later, it was close to 0. I started monitoring it closely. High temperatures occurred around noon. Zero degrees most of the time. After the third repair, service tech called Whirlpool and found part was redesigned. New part didn’t help. We understand the freezer has a heater in it, to defrost. The heater stays on too long. That explains why the freezer temp went as high as 50 degrees, while the fridge was perfect.

I purchased this at Lowe's. I always buy Lowe's extended warranties. Thankfully, they bought back my 30 month old refrigerator. Kudos to Lowe's warranty company. Never put on long holds. Fast response. I noticed the price for the warranty on refrigerators in this price range has increased by $100. Reflects a lot of repairs on refrigerator models. One thing though. I learned 3 repairs within a 30 day period is considered one repair, for purposes of their lemon policy. I will also add that the warranty company reimburses you 50% of the cost of filters. Simple process. I have read complaints that they make it too difficult to collect. That is just not true. Have been reimbursed $100 for filters to date. In 5 years, Even at the increased price, the savings will pay for the warranty. No brainer.

I have owned several refrigerators in the past which were older models and less sophisticated, and all of them lasted well over 10 years with no major issues, so to buy a new refrigerator through Whirlpool and have it malfunction in less than a year is unacceptable. Customers deserves better than this especially at these prices.

My malfunction occurred when my ice maker stopped working and the internal temperature stopped working altogether, which caused all my food to spoil which had to replaced which was very expensive which infuriated me more and because my service appointment was a week away. I LITERALLY had to order out for food and purchase ice. And if this happens again I will have replace food and order food out again. WHIRLPOOL don't realize the impact this has on its customers. Do not purchase (Whirlpool products). Discuss guarantees with salespeople when purchasing! They are total sham and in fact borderline fraud! Purchased $5,000 dollar KitchenAid fridge only to have it breakdown after only 8 months. What they don't tell you is instead of recalling a product they give their repair personnel what's called a "notice" which means they know there are issues with their products!

After much discussion and trying to return the product to no avail, I was told very adamantly my fridge would need to break down another additional 2 times before my fridge would be replaced with a new fridge. Forget about the cost of your food inside the fridge, they don't care! Just beware that their warranties and parts and labour are a complete and utter joke! My advice after much research if you can afford it buy "Miele" or "Subzero" product. It's more expensive but a lot less headaches in the long run! I've eaten the cost of my KitchenAid appliance and went with a Subzero fridge. Don't believe the higher pressure sales pitch from salesman. You're best to call a repairman and ask what he's fixing more often than not and 9/10 times he will tell you Whirlpool product! Customer service is a complete circus and gong show. You'll get further ahead talking to a donkey!!! Buyer beware! Whirlpool Canada/USA is a joke!!! Don't say I didn't warn ya!!!

Whirlpool will (seemingly) never replace an appliance--even if it makes no sense to keep trying to fix it. This is a $600 refrigerator! I can't imagine how much they have spent in repair costs. They simply send a service tech time after time, jerking the consumer around with no regard for what we have to go through to arrange 6 tech visits, some of them multiple hours long. Yes, we have had six tech visits, for a total of 10+ hours, and six weeks living with a broken refrigerator. As well as 30+ phone calls, hours on hold, etc.

The refrigerator is loudly throbbing away after being refilled with coolant twice, and is still leaking coolant. Are they hoping the customer just gives up and buys a new appliance on their own? I wonder about the many positive reviews of their appliances: Are they fake? Are they churned out by Whirlpool? I have no confidence in this company. They are inept, if not crooked, and I would advise buyers to beware of poor quality and extremely poor warranty and consumer service.

Whirlpool model WRF560SMYB04 - We purchased this model Whirlpool in Dec 2015 after having a refrigerator for 18 years with no problems. We started having cooling issues in late 2017 and finally an intolerable fan noise in April 2018. Researched it and purchased a fan. Opened up the freezer panel and found that the unit was completely frosted up to the point where ice had formed around the freezer fan and was hitting the blades. Contacted a repairman who came out and called in the issue to the Whirlpool tech line. He was told that he should check continuity on a couple of wires. If these checked out, the problem was the user interface board at the top of the refrigerator. We purchased a new board for about $100 and installed same. No change. I was now $250 into repairs and no further.

We became aware of Whirlpool Service Pointer W10875533A which described conditions that we were experiencing. The issue was a coil thermistor that would corrode (apparently within 2 years) and would not provide accurate signals. Whirlpool also issued an instruction sheet W10902213 Rev A describing how to relocate the thermistor and protect it with foil and tape. My repairman came out, confirmed the thermistor ($54) was bad, replaced same following the Instruction Sheet. We were now out over $300 on a $1000 refrigerator purchased 2 years earlier.

Whirlpool issued the Service Pointer (not to consumers, but to repair shops) in Sept 2016 (within our warranty period). We received no notifications from Whirlpool of the defective design. Nor did we receive a recall notice. Moreover, Whirlpool tech group must have known about this issue, but instructed my repairman to replace the interface board. Whirlpool knows they have a defective product out there but are doing nothing to inform the consumer or stepping up to correct the problem. We have contacted Whirlpool to recover our expenses...will let you all know how that goes. Anybody interested in pursuing a class action?

As of today even though I have not had a fridge since 5/10/18 and they won’t be back until 6/28/18 and they are just shooting in the dark on the repair cause they never have figured out what the problem is Whirlpool will not replace the unit until this attempt fails. If this attempt fails then they will review/recommend replacement of the unit which will take 2 weeks.

That means that Whirlpool is OK with the consumer being out of a refrigerator for almost 3 months or more, losing time and money at work to meet with the repair person multiple times, having spent thousands of dollars on the unit and losing hundreds of dollars’ worth of food. Not to mention the inconvenience and cost of not having refrigerator for a family with a working mother, 2 teenagers and a 90 year old grandmother/great grandmother. Model KRFC704FSS00 Ice Maker Broken in 7 months - A major appliance should NOT break 7 months with normal use. Whirlpool appliances (all brands) have known issues with their ice maker that the manufacturer said it addressed but instead failed miserably. On top of the known issue, their customer service has limited control over the repair and sends unqualified, unprepared repair techs to your home.

After waiting several days for a repair person to show up they don't actually "repair" anything. They take a picture of the model and serial number only to have to order parts and come back another day...not when it is convenient for the customer but for the repair company. And you can't just take 30 min off of work because they have a window that they will show up in...so two days minimum lost for a single repair. Then they act like they are doing you a favor by extending your warranty...they have to warranty the repair anyway. Acting like it is a favor to you is just another platitude like them saying they are sorry or they understand. They are not sorry or they would fix the major issue before customers buy their product or at least fix the fridge when it breaks in a timely and responsive manner. If they understood anything they would do something about recurring issues. Don't be sorry, BE BETTER.

We bought all new Whirlpool kitchen appliances in February of 2017. The French Door Refridgerator MRF993FIFM we purchased was a large side by side with a water/ice dispenser and freezer on the bottom. The concept of it is great, as it is very roomy. The problem is with the product quality and usability. We are a family of four with the youngest being twelve. We do not have to worry about rough little hands anymore. That being said there is a crack in the back of the plastic casing of one shelf, a crack in the freezer door, the seal doesn't connect on the dispenser side door, the slide out shelf in the freezer doesn't stay on its rollers and the main ice maker stopped working (which never worked properly either).

Also, and this is what bothers me the most, the glass on one of the shelves is sealed down so it cannot be cleaned under. But there is a small slit going all the way around that separates it from the plastic. Food is still seeping underneath and creating mold with no way to clean underneath! This was not an inexpensive refrigerator and we were not prepared to have these kinds of problems after a year. We are very unhappy with the quality of this product.

Our Whirlpool refrigerator performs beautifully with just two setbacks from a perfect score. First, there's a bulky plastic lump in the center of the ceiling on the top shelf that is in my way when I put tall items like bottles on the first shelf. I'm used to it now and it's not that big of a deal, but it would be more convenient if I could put tall items right in the middle of the top shelf and not have to work around a bulbous lump in my way. Secondly, the freezer has no light. The bulb isn't missing, there's just no bulb in it, no place for a bulb to go, it just wasn't designed with a bulb in the freezer. It was a little disappointing when we first purchased it but it's really not a big deal and doesn't hinder the freezer's performance. But it would be more convenient if the freezer lit up when I opened it. That said, the refrigerator overall has never needed repair, it performs beautifully and I'm satisfied with it. I'd trade a bulb for a well-functioning refrigerator every time.

Not completely happy with my purchase of the Whirlpool Gold Series refrigerator I just paid off this month. Have had the refrigerator for one year. To be as large as it is, it really doesn't seem to be able to hold that much food. The refrigerator is on the top and the freezer is on the bottom. We began having issues with the ice in the ice maker becoming frozen together and forming "clumps" of ice. The ice felt "damp" to the touch rather than feeling completely frozen. We called the manufacturer and they said to be sure the "vents" in the freezer section were not blocked by food. So you have to be sure to load the freezer so that food doesn't block the vents.

Additionally, when filling your glass with ice from the door, unless you are EXTREMELY careful, all of the ice will not go into the glass but spill out onto the floor. We've had the refrigerator for one year and I still have ice coming out that doesn't make it into the glass. It is not user friendly at all. One last thing - the refrigerator has double doors and to get to the section of the middle pull out drawer, you have to open both of the double doors, letting out a lot of the cold air. For the expense of this particular refrigerator I would not recommend purchasing it. My last refrigerator was a Whirlpool as well. It lasted 17 years and I was very happy with it. This Gold Series was supposed to be a step up, but I feel it was a step down.

In the 14th month after the Whirlpool warranty had expired, we found the pantry drawer lid/cover shattered by the door which shut on it because of no reasonable leeway provided in its design.

On calling the special warranty people they said they only covered the compressor and parts and nothing else. Called Whirlpool who quoted $85.00 for the lid, plus S&H and taxes. Now we have an eyesore every time we open the fridge when we see the taped up cracked three foot pantry drawer lid. We badly regret giving away a 25 year old perfectly working Whirlpool Workhorse Fridge and buy this newer model which we will have to live with for a quarter of a century. I am 75 years old now. Never a Whirlpool again!

Your Whirlpool French Door model # WRF993F1FM is a piece of junk... Had the fridge less than a year and had to have repairman come and fix it twice already... Would never buy Whirlpool Product again. Builds up ice in the refrigerator and then loses of most of the food in it. Leaks the water right onto the kitchen floor...really pitiful to spend more than 2000 dollars for a fridge that is a piece of junk.

We recently purchased a new Whirlpool refrigerator and washer/dryer set from Home Depot. The truck for delivery was late and unable to pick up the refrigerator in time for scheduled delivery. Whirlpool contacted us to inform that it was now on back order for another week claiming there was nothing else they could do. Strike one. We paid for the installation and kit for the washer and dryer set. The tech who delivered them claimed the kit was not correct and that he could not install the dryer. We contacted Home Depot, Whirlpool, and had Home Depot call Whirlpool on our behalf with no resolution. They will not refund the installation even though they didn’t install anything.

Whirlpool will not directly say whether or not they will send someone else out to actually install it this time. To top it off - I asked the Whirlpool rep which kit needs to be used and she told me whichever I want... for a gas hook up... whichever I want. This is ridiculous and Whirlpool has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Side note - don’t waste time on the chat feature they provide. You will be directed back to the 800 number with 30 minute hold times. Horrible company!

November 4, 2017 we purchased a 2018 Tiffin RV with a Whirlpool 3-door refrigerator/freezer. We did not use the RV refrigerator until our first trip to Florida January 2018. Immediate problems with the freezer icing up on freezer door and icing up in the top 2 shelves of refrigerator. Milk, fruit, even cheese froze in the top of the refrigerator. Bottom freezer door froze so bad I had to yank on the drawer very hard to even get it open & chunks of ice would fall off the door on the floor outside once it opened. Called Whirlpool warranty service phone number two times 2/16/2018. I won't go into all the details but we were on hold for a 90 minutes and were transferred 7 times by the automated system. Talked to one person, Lindsey, who immediately transferred me again to RV Dept. No one ever answered. System kept saying, "Please wait." Then just disconnected and another recording came on saying to call back.

We did not after this fiasco! February 19, 2018 we called Tiffin MH & told them about the NO CUSTOMER SERVICE from Whirlpool. They told us to call Sears in Sebring, FL. We did. If we wanted Whirlpool service to bring the motorhome to them & the warranty only covered parts NOT labor or service calls. They did not want to work on it. March 13, 2018 We went to Tiffin MH Service in Red Bay, AL. Earl called Whirlpool tech, Steve, & tried to explain the problem. Steve told him he did not talk on speaker phone & told him very hatefully to put him on the private line.

Steve just very angrily insisting that Earl had him on speaker phone. I do not understand Whirlpool's Steve issue with being on speaker phone? Finally Earl got him to listen to our refrigerator problems as he stood there at the refrigerator going through each issue step-by-step. Steve said to put silicon in the seal & that Whirlpool WOULD NOT replace a 3 month old refrigerator that actually had only been used 2 months. We found out later Tiffin is going to replace the refrigerator.

They could not help me. Called the corporate complaint line. The man I talked to was such a smart **! I finally said "I cannot believe you are talking to me like this, I have bought Whirlpool for 35 years." He backed off slightly. Still couldn't help me. BTW, I LOVE my new Samsung refrigerator! We bought all new Whirlpool Gold appliances for new house. Fridge stopped cooling within 8 months, placed warranty call, couldn't get to us for a couple weeks (this is in July). Was told everyone was having problems...so sent us a brand new fridge...happy!! Little over a year later started having problems with this one and was told no warranty, didn't transfer to new fridge and no one offered to sell us a new one at the time, so repairs were out of our pocket. Had new condenser installed, still no ice, had circuit board installed, got ice but refrigerator section isn't cooling after almost $700 out of pocket...don't waste your money on a Whirlpool. So disappointed.

Since purchasing original refrigerator 2 years ago I have multiple problems. Freezer was icing up to the point where drawers could not be opened, after numerous service calls, door was replaced which did not resolve problem. Refrigerator was replaced on warranty. Soon after light control circuit board had to be replaced. Next light control had to be recalibrated. Now, with the unit being approx. 1 yr old, rust spots are appearing on freezer door. Whirlpool rep advised this problem is not covered on warranty and would not provide any information as to what company contacts could be used to pursue the issue. Very upset and disappointed with product and customer service.

We bought a dishwasher, stove and refrigerator last month. Dishwasher and stove work great, however the refrigerator is junk! The freezer part works great, but the refrigerator doesn't cool at all. The first time he was here the repair man said the seal on the door was bad and he glued it. He told us to not open the door for 48 hours then everything would be fine. IT WASN'T. A week and a half later he came back. He looked inside, scratched his head and told us, “This model should have the “deluxe” fan and I don't think it does!” Said he would be back in 6 days with the fan and we'll “see if that fixes it”.

I called Whirlpool service waited on hold for an hour before getting cut off. Called back waited 35 more minutes but actually got to speak to someone. The big solution... They offered me a 6 month extended warranty!!! I've lost an entire refrigerator full of food. Missed two days of work and am going to miss another when he brings the “deluxe” fan. Also been eating out all month and probably spent $100 buying ice. IE... MOST EXPENSIVE REFRIGERATOR EVER!!!

OMG. We had just purchased a house in Clermont Fl. At Appliance Direct on Citrus Tower, worse experience. Imagine my husband and myself had recently retired. Therefore we wanted to make sure whatever we purchased was to last since it's not easy to replace anything on our fixed income. A few mos later the ice maker would make noise in the middle of the night and would not fill up completely. 1 yr it stopped making ice completely. We went to Appliance Direct only to find out that nothing could have been done. We purchased the extra warranty for approx 391 dollars. We then were told by Whirlpool that we would have to wait 60 days. The time came and the customer service now tells us that the breakdown happened the same month we purchased the warranty so we would have to pay ourselves to have it fixed. We went ahead and paid for the repair.

A few mos after the ice maker stopped again and the bottom freezer would not freeze anything. Our food spoiled etc. We called Whirlpool now that the warranty was now ok. We had to wait for an appointment with the company of their choice. The repairman came and stated that the part had to be ordered before we can get ice and freezer working. Waited almost 2 weeks for that. Repair done and soon after, like 4 days later we still didn't have ice. Called again, another company was sent... all over again we waited for 2 parts.. He assured us that we should be good. 2 mos now we're getting half capacity ice and freezer doesn't freeze everything. Ice cream is a no no.

So much money (2500 dollars) paid for that piece of junk. The repairman told us “forget about replacement, the company will send a repairman once a month if they have to“. It's frustrating and some days I wish I could just put it on the sidewalk for the garbage truck. I can't afford to go out and buy a new one (of course it would not be Whirlpool). In the meantime this company Whirlpool is making all this money from selling these junk. I am mad like hell and tell everyone to stay away from Whirlpool. I wish I'd purchased a Samsung instead. I could climb the top of a mountain and shout: Don't buy Whirlpool.

Nothing but the worst experience, it all started with a 5 year old Whirlpool fridge that stopped cooling, I called and they said they could send someone for like 200$ and that it does not guarantee it will be fixed. So I called an independent and he tried to refill the freon, but it was leaking behind the fridge in a section you cannot access because they want you to buy another one, so 5 year old fridge in the garbage and now to top it off, a KitchenAid knife set that is barely used, one of the big knives broke cutting a fruit, and good luck in any circumstance getting any customer service. In November 2016 I took delivery of a Whirlpool WRF757SDEE French door unit. One month later: In December 2016, it needed a new ice maker, as it never did fill the ice bucket and they were always melted together. Two months later: In February 2017, a thermal fuse had to be replaced—refrigerator compartment wasn’t cold enough. 8 months later, Aug 2017, it needed electronic circuit board replaced, as refrigerator compartment completely froze up. November 18, 2017 manufacturer's one year warranty expired. BUT, I HAD PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY! 4 years from NSI Protection Plus (a joke, see my review.)

December 31, 2017: One year and one month after delivery, the unit stopped cooling completely. My local appliance store where I purchased sent out a tech and took it into the shop for diagnosis. They found the sealed system was kaput. Couldn’t get the temp below 67 degrees. My dealer was great and sent out a loaner after a week, and for almost 7 weeks they argued for a replacement with NSI Protection Plus. Finally on February 8, 2018, they threatened to take them to court and they paid $15 less than my purchase price. I’m out $189 for the “warranty,” $188.48 sales tax and $89.95 delivery. And I have to go buy another refrigerator. It won’t be a Whirlpool.

I bought a Whirlpool gold model #GB2F-1DXW507 / k27711376 when we remodeled our kitchen in October 2012. After a couple months I noticed water on my floor, then in the bottom of the freezer. I called Lowe’s. They sent out a repairman. He said it was a flaw in the design and put the redesigned part in. When they delivered the fridge they changed the door to a left hand open and it was never right. After 2 years the ice maker stopped working. I just started buying ice. Today 5 years and 5 months later they said it will cost me almost $500.00 to fix the electric board and the Ice maker.

The fridge stopped working would not get cold. And the certified Whirlpool repairman said it was a very good looking fridge and he would fix it with a 90 day warranty on the genuine Whirlpool parts for almost $500.00. I said I wasn't a idiot. Why would I spend that kind of money for JUNK. After reading some reviews I think Whirlpool knows just what junk they are selling. I called and all they said was, “That's too bad. We will take it under advisement.” I bought mine 1st then 1 year later my sister and sister-in-law bought theirs. 3 fridges with all the same leaking issues. I hope they don't end up with all the same problems.

It has had several Large components changed out including the Freezer door, water valves, electronic boards, gaskets, and more. I was NOT able to get it labeled as a "lemon" and returned to Lowe’s simply because I accepted Warranty work to be done in the first 30 days which then disables any chance to return the unit. If I had asked for it to be returned in the first 30 days with the First bad issues I could have. Now I am stuck with it and I dislike the fridge and will never buy another Whirlpool or any other appliance from Lowe’s.
