    1) Never told that there is no device to stop the unit from rolling in and out as you open the doors.
    2) Ice dispenser clogs and I need to keep a towel and a cup under dispenser or have to clean floor from dripping.
    3) Their lack of a service dept. makes you use the computer to set a warranty claim.
    4) They will send you an email that they understand you are not happy with the unit.
    5) Don’t bother responding to it because that is the last you will hear from them.
    6) When a non factory trained tech ( Whirlpool did set this up) told me nothing the can do?

They attempted to fix our fridge, 1 year into owning, claimed no parts available. Never fixed, fridge died. Refused to repair. Offered us a 15% Visa gift card on another Whirlpool. Unacceptable, they can’t fix their product, and will never recommend anybody go through my family's $3,500 wasted fridge experience. Don’t trust them, they lie, and just escalate it to another liar in the customer service department.

Different company of Whirlpool Tech was here was here twice, second time he ordered 4 parts and as of March 12, 2020, we can only use about half of our 24.7 cu ft fridge. After 5 months of trying to deal with whirlpool and being told my warranty is void because of adjusting the door according to their manual. Called Whirlpool and was told to record noise and show to Home Depot where it was purchased. No help from either place. Need to call warranty company. Funny thing it arrived with pieces of some sort of shrub in drawers. I guess this is new and improved and energy saving like newer washer that takes 45 minutes to wash a load.

We have had our Whirlpool for 6 months. It doesn’t always keep things uniformly cool. Oftentimes some items are frozen while others are not. The water dispenser button leaks in a dribble down the front of the fridge after each use. The drawers do not move easily when they contain a moderate amount of food. The freezer works great. All in all it does a decent job but I definitely wouldn’t consider it one of the best.

We love our new whirlpool side by side fridge. It has plenty of space inside and the bottom freezer is great. The water come out from the inside of the fridge vs a front dispenser. It’s just the typical ice dispenser in the freezer vs ice dispenser on the front of the fridge. The only downfall is that there is no sensor to alert you if the freezer door or fridge doors aren’t fully closed. My last fridge that was over 10 years old has that sounding sensor which is a lifesaver with children. It helps save your food items from half defrosted and frozen from a door being left slightly ajar.

The bins have no rollers, it's plastic on plastic and not easy to open or close. The noise this machine makes is remarkable- a B52 in disguise. The water from the outside is not chilled at all. The thin, glass shelves are not adjustable, nor do they have drip edges. There is no information from the front panel- no temp, either inside or outside. Sad product. If I had to do it over again, I'd throw more money at a better product, with actual features. This model does not have any compelling features to promote.

Our new Whirlpool Side-by-Side Refrigerator is very versatile as it serves the needs of a busy, family kitchen. It is heavily used storing cold foodstuffs to feed our family of four, plus two active grandsons. Being able to re-configure the shelving space enables us to adjust the main compartment accommodating items of different sizes (think a thawing turkey or a 24-can case of soft drinks!) to ensure our most functional usage. The same can be said of its freezer space - it too features built-in slots to reposition shelving for varied size packages and boxes. Convenient in-door water and ice dispensers round out the beneficial features of this attractive appliance.

My model - GB9FHDXWD06 - is one of only a very few that fits our space. However, it has failed three times in 5 years: 1) A faulty defrost drain tube that was replaced under warranty, 2) A jammed vent flap that caused the freezer to fail, and 3) a burned-out control panel (an expensive repair). It is also annoyingly noisy and middling at energy efficiency. The coils are in a very narrow space below the refrigerator, which makes them a bear to clean. And, the plastic front plate that must be removed for cleaning breaks far too easily.

On the good side, it is a bottom freezer model (which is far better for convenience), the space-wasting ice maker was very easy to remove, the glass shelves, removable baskets, and drawers are easy to clean, and the auto-defrost works very well (after the recall update, number one, above). Temperature uniformity is good and the freezer maintains below 0° very well. Overall, it is a good looking appliance with mediocre efficiency and poor reliability. Not recommended.

This is a replacement of a similar model, that lasted 23 years. This modest, white, 2 door, side by side refrigerator, was purchased without the optional ice maker. It was bought specifically for the dimensions, of our custom cabinets. There are obvious differences, from the previous incarnation. The textured doors were replaced with a smooth glossy finish and their height extends higher than the refrigerator cabinet. The adjustable shelves were replaced with less adjustable pre fixed shelf supports. The LED interior lighting is much brighter that the incandescent bulbs they replaced. Overall, so far a very capable refrigerator, for a moderately sized kitchen and if the life, lasts as long as the one it replaced, this was a very good purchase.

I have the side by side refrigerator. I have had it for about 15 years. It has the clear adjustable drawers and shelves in the refrigerator side. It has worked well for my family. Repairs include door cams on the refrigerator side and the plastic unit for the ice cube maker as you cannot get just the plastic gear that some of the teeth broke on. I was able to do these repairs myself. The freezer side can be tight on larger items. I also own a chest freezer so this alleviates that issue. I think I would prefer the freezer across the bottom vs a side by side. All in all this has been a really good refrigerator and I would stick with the Whirlpool brand.

Cons: the refrigerator is bulky and limits space in a small kitchen. The lower freezer door does not seal very well and requires frequent tweaking and adjusting around the door seal. Also, the freezer handle becomes loose easily and requires tightening fairly often -- which is a pain to get on the floor on your back (and a flashlight plus a special wrench) to tighten the handle.

We’ve experienced four failures in the nearly four years we’ve owned this lemon. The first failure occurred within the one year manufacturer’s warranty period. The three failures since then have been fairly close together. Control boards and mechanical parts have been replaced. We are now waiting for a “made to order” part, with no scheduled delivery date.

When I pressed Lowe’s on the reliability of this fridge, I was told that if four failures occur during the extended warranty period, they would give us a replacement. Considering the delays in repairs and frequency of failures, this is unacceptable. Do Lowe's and Whirlpool expect their customers to just suck it up and do without a refrigerator for months while we wait? The warranty is worthless without prompt problem resolution. We bought model WRS571CID*** which has an in-door ice maker that has stopped working after exactly 3 years. An excellent authorized service rep advised that the wire harness from the freezer to the door was damaged by chafing from normal opening and closing the freezer door, which has caused the ice maker wires to break, thereby disabling the ice maker. The only remedy is replacing entire the door, which would cost $1700 according to Whirlpool's published repair data, which he is obligated to charge. Apparently, the wiring harness is not a replaceable part, because I suspect the labor hours needed to disassemble and reassemble the door is prohibitive. Well, a new fridge costs about the repair. I spoke to the Whirlpool company about whether they acknowledge that the design is faulty and that the door should be replaced at their expense even out of warranty, and they declined.

So I advise prospective buyers to be aware of this issue and watch other reviews. There are many customer reviews on various sites complaining about this very issue. Our workaround is to put ice trays into the freezer to make ice, and while the dispenser still works, pour the ice thus made into the ice dispenser manually - until the wire control that also becomes damaged and stops working. I would not recommend buying this model.

Because the Korean appliances are a problem for repairmen, we're stuck with a Whirlpool choice. Seems to be a good fridge. Noisier than my Kenmore (Korean). I got instructions from repairman on opening right door first and closing it last. Otherwise rubber wears out too soon. If I put anything on left door opposite ice maker, it freezes, making that shelf useless! We had ordered a Kitchenaid but the installers damaged it.

We bought an extended warranty and when the fridge broke a second time, they canceled the warranty and said they had the right to cancel it as it was in the contract. Terrible, terrible company. I work in the service industry and I am in shock that this company can get away with treating customers like they have.

Whirlpool fridge with ice and water dispenser that broke down within days of install. The water dispenser stopped working after the first flush and Whirlpool were notified. They engaged a useless repair company who have been unable to resolve the problem and will not communicate updates. Whirlpool have been fully informed of the problem with their "brand new" product which was defective practically from the start and have washed their hands of any involvement in resolving the problem with their appliance. They defer defective product as a warranty issue and leave the consumer to chase after people to get a repair done.

For a brand new $3,700 fridge that doesn't work within a week of install I just cannot believe they would sell a defective item and make their consumer suffer for it.

What consumer would knowingly choose to purchase a defective appliance? If you end up getting a defect, the company should make it right....right away. I'm at 2 months now without a functioning water dispenser on a fridge that is only 2 months old. Just disgusting.

This new refrigerator sucks! Unopened milk doesn't even last a week. If I turn the temp lower, the produce freezes. I think the fans in new fridges are week in order to save energy. With old old refrigerators you could definitely feel the fan blowing which probably helped keep the fridge more evenly cold. Whenever I open the door there is no noticeable circulation of air at all. Whirlpool owes me at least a hundred dollars in milk that went down the drain. Please take my advise on this. There should be a class action lawsuit against most refrigerator makers because I think this is probably the norm nowadays. If you're wondering, I'm not a nut case. Friends I have talked to have noticed this problem too. Unopened milk is supposed to last two or three weeks and not go bad in four days if it's within the sell by date. This is a real problem that is causing a lot of waste and something should be done about it.

Well, our other appliances aren't rusting and the refrigerator doesn't sit outside! They sent us a 6 oz bottle of rust cleaner.

A few months later, this refrigerator stops cooling! This was in March, 3 months out of 1 yr warranty. The refrigerant system is warranted for 5 yrs. This was also right at the beginning of Covid 19 shutdown. Fields could not give us a appointment, due to shutdowns. So, I called a local company to fix it out of pocket. He discovered a leak in the coolant lines, fixed the leak and replaced the coolant ($453.61 on 4/9/20). Great, it works! About 3 weeks later, it stops cooling again. Called local service repairman out once more to see whats going on. He replaces a thermal bi metal sensor and well ahh! It works again ($100 on 4/28/2020).

About 3 weeks after that, it stops working again! We are thinking by now, it's a problem for Setzer's, Whirlpool, and Fields. We call the local service repairman out to confirm and he states that the evaporator fan motor will need to be replaced, and that part replaces all sensors as well ($59.99 5/28/2020 service call). We call Setzer's and schedule an appointment with Fields. First appointment we could get was 6/16/2020. Guy comes out, and cited a factory defect, per a technical bulletin he had, and relocated a sensor. Simple as that, he assured us it was fixed! Even though I pointed out it felt no cooler when he packed his things to leave. It did nothing! In the background Setzer's (when they would call back) were supposedly working with Whirlpool to help fix the problem!

Whirlpool's reply was that since our repairman was not factory authorized, it completely voided our warranty! Explaining we had no choice, since Fields wouldn't come out and by now we are without a working refrigerator for 3 months, they could care less! Feeling totally frustrated, we call Fields again! On 6/19/2020, they send out another repairman. This guy came in, opened up the back, and immediately stated the refrigerant was overfilled. Didn't do any diagnostics, just told us that we were **, and walked away, without even putting the refrigerator back in place! Neither Fields rep hooked up a diagnostic tool to confirm any real issue, I guess they just knew! Total incompetence!

So... As of now we have paid the local repairman ($448.33 on 6/26/2020) to order the evaporation fan motor and install it this coming Monday (7/20/2020). Total amount out of pocket at this point, $1053.90. It took that long to get here! Wish us luck! Setzer's wiped their hands clean of the issue and told us to call Whirlpool. We did have not ever received callback.

After calling and writing Whirlpool, we were hoping for some support in the form of a voucher for perhaps $500 or so to replace the unit but they said tough. No concern whatsoever. The repairman gave my husband SR#** and a Cust. Service telephone #800-253-1301. I called and they gave me another SR#** and phone #866-931-7390 to call the following Friday. They did not even offer to replace the refrigerator.

I bought a brand new Whirlpool fridge early June with the extended warranty to have it shipped on my moving day on June 18. The team delivered and installed the fridge and told me to wait 3 hours before plugging it. I went and spent over 300$ in groceries only to find out the fridge does not work. I waited 24 hours, still not working. I had to wait until Monday to call the customer service because it is closed on weekends. I had to throw out all my food and order food all weekend which incurred an extra 200$. I called Whirlpool on Monday and was told a technician would only come on June 30th. 8 DAYS LATER!!!!

I did some research and found a certified whirlpool technician myself who was able to come the next day only to find out the fridge has no "gas" and this is an assembly defect - WHIRLPOOL'S FAULT. Whirlpool would have to send me a brand new fridge (These fridges are NOT TESTED?!). I was asked to call to arrange the exchange, I asked for compensation as I have already spent over 500$ and now would have to wait another week with no fridge and they refused to compensate....They told me I would get a call in the next 48 hours to let me know when I would get the new fridge and 3rd day later, still no call.

I received a call on Friday to tell me they "approved the exchange"...Really now and would have to wait another week. That is over 2 weeks with no fridge, I sent a private message last week to Whirlpool, no answer, I spoke to customer service twice, they can't help me and do not want to compensate me. Update Review on 10/15/2020: New refrigerator 12/31/19. 4/27/20 Fridge terribly noisy, called Whirlpool directed to local provider. 5/5/20 Fan replaced, drawer clip broken. 5/11/20 Drawer repaired. 5/21/20 Fridge not keeping up, repair company said new compressor needed. 7/6/20 After numerous calls and literally hours on hold with Whirlpool compressor install but still seemed noisy. 9/30/20 Fridge partially cooling, no ice and water dispenser not working. Repair company ordered new evaporator cover and UI panel.

10/15/20 Neither the repair company or Whirlpool know when the parts will be delivered. Whirlpool has no record of their being a service call or parts ordered. I talked to one rude, unhelpful and uninformed service rep. After following their instructions and using their recommended warranty provider, they claim not to have the issues in their system and can't be used to determine the repair/replacement of their unit. He indicated, "You need 3 major repairs in 30 days to get a replacement fridge." It took them 6 1/2 weeks to repair the compressor. How can it break that many times in 30 days with that bad of service. Nothing is repaired in 30 days.

The current rep seems to care and have a working knowledge. She is sending a request to determine when a part might be delivered. She couldn't give any indication of when the part might be delivered to complete the repair. Days? Weeks? Or again Months? An hour and a half on the phone with very little progress. New refrigerator with 3 major repairs and one small one in 9 months. Terrible refrigerator and extremely poor service! Go with another brand.

Original Review: Refrigerator new in January 2020. The first issue was an extremely loud fan.It was replaced. While being repaired, service tech broke a tab on the door. (It happens) Another call to replace the tab. During May I notice it's not making ice and freezer isn't keeping up. Lose all items in freezer. Now the 4th call on new refrigerator, tech says needs a compressor and orders while at my house. Soon the refrigerator isn't keeping cool. Now 34 days later, still not fixed. Whirlpool service provider blames Whirlpool. Whirlpool says they are shipping compressors but can't exactly say mine is delivered. Apparently, 4 service calls in 5 months and over a month with a totally broken refrigerator is their bar for a good product and service. Neither their approved service provider or Whirlpool care in the least. Awful service. Try another brand!

But after inserting the new filter and emptying the entire ice tray, I still get bad ice! I open the compartment, and surprisingly, found out that the spiral rod inside the ice dispenser was rusted!

This is horrible and unacceptable! This is not a user fault but a manufacturing defect. The parts that are in direct contact with what customer consumes should be robust and safe. I contacted customer service, and they gave me a technician phone number which turned out to be a third party which only cares about money. They said they will inspect the refrigerator and will charge me $134.00. I will not use this refrigerator anymore and will replace it soon. AND I will never purchase any more Whirlpool products. Hello, Here is our story. We bought this refrigerator "Whirlpool - 26.2 Cu. Ft. 4-Door French Door Refrigerator" through a local reputable retailer. After 16 months we started to have problems with ice melting in the ice bin. We continued to have problems related to cooling/freezing within the refrigerator to the point where almost all the major parts were replaced. The good news is the dealer negotiated with Whirlpool to have all repair costs covered after the first visit. I asked about just getting us a new refrigerator and was told Whirlpool requires a part to be replaced 3 (THREE) TIMES before consideration.

In summary, the refrigerator could not be fixed and was 'condemned' in agreement with both Whirlpool and the Dealer. Here is the interesting news - since the refrigerator was out of warranty (12 months and now we are at 18 months), they are requiring we pay $600+ for the replacement. Buyer beware - either pay for the extended warranty or risk having to be inconvenienced by having your refrigerator unavailable for days or in our case, weeks!

So my parents whom have been married for 62 years with 5 grown children, 16 grandchildren, a 36 greatgrandchildren and 1 great great grandchild have promised none of us will ever look at another Whirlpool anything much less purchase a whirlpool appliance. The representative assured us that we were valued customers and offered to contact our local service provider and authorize the needed repairs to our refrigerator. This interaction has restored our faith in Whirlpool and it's partner brands. The representative also provided guidance on future purchases in contacting Whirlpool to purchase its extended warranty.

I would suggest using Whirlpool's warranty program instead of a retailer's program. Contact Whirlpool to purchase any extended warranties directly, instead of purchasing an extended plan at the time of purchase. Thank you to Whirlpool and to our extremely helpful representative. Our experience with Whirlpool has been extremely disappointing. We purchased a very high end refrigerator and after a year immediately had to replace the lower freezer ice maker. This was done through an extended warranty. Over the last five months we have had to replace both ice makers (upper and lower) and now are having issues with the pantry drawer. The company with which we had the extended warranty dropped us because they did not have service providers in our area.

In trying to work with Whirlpool, they have dismissed our request for assistance on parts, as now our warranty is over. We have had consistent issues with this refrigerator and seriously question the quality of this manufacturer. We called and were told that after the 1 year manufacturer warranty, whirlpool cannot offer any assistance, even though we had purchased an extended warranty which had since been cancelled. My family and I are severely disappointing. We have been a "whirlpool and KitchenAid family" and when it comes time to replace our appliances, we will not be looking at Whirlpool or any of their "family" of products. Before you ever buy a Whirlpool product, read the reviews and decide if Whirlpool not standing behind their products makes it worth it for you to buy them. I certainly don't recommend them! I also wish to tell you that a major crack was around the light housing and Whirlpool placed the light cover over it where it was concealed to the buyer. You'd never know it until the light cover would be removed for cleaning. Which wasn't easy to do since Whirlpool installed it with 2 sided sticky glue foam tape. Now that's really scum behavior!

My parents bought a Whirlpool refrigerator that makes a strange noise, an intermittent clicking. Sometimes it goes on for hours. It is neither the ice maker, nor the compressor. I contacted Whirlpool, they said it is normal. It is not normal. I have a twenty-year-old refrigerator far quieter than this brand new, $2600 noisemaker that keeps things cold.

We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator on January 18th. It has never worked since it was delivered. A service call was place the next day. It is now 2 and half months and 6 technician visits later and the fridge is still not working. Whirlpool customer service has been contacted and they want to continue sending technicians out rather than replace the fridge. The customer service manager, Demetrius, stated the additional service calls are not costing Whirlpool more money because the repair company has 90 days to fix the problem so they are not going to replace the fridge. While this may be fine for Whirlpool it is certainly not good customer service.

We were told they can't call the service company to get the details of prior visits and that we need to call the service company as there is nothing Whirlpool customer service can do but schedule technician visits. After a lot of aggravation, losing hundreds of dollars of food and hours on the phone here we are without a working fridge. Buyer beware!

After having my Whirlpool side by side refrigerator ice maker replaced 4 TIMES in 10 years, I finally found a permanent fix for it: an Igloo counter top ice maker for around half the price of a replacement Whirlpool ice maker. Unlike the Whirlpool ice maker, it makes ice. I promptly removed the Whirlpool ice maker FOR THE LAST TIME, and sent it to the dump, where it belongs. Goodbye Whirlpool! If that is the best you can produce, you will not receive any more of my hard earned money!

Bought a Whirlpool fridge in a package from Home Depot three years ago. The fridge has already stopped working. It started having issues about 1 1/2 years in to owning the fridge and finally died 2 weeks ago.

We bought a side by side refrigerator/freezer in 2013 from our local Best Buy. We have usually bought Whirlpool appliances. Before we bought this refrigerator the last Whirlpool we had for 25 years. This past week our refrigerator went out. We called a repair man. He said the circuit board was out and would cost $450.00 to replace it. We decided to buy a new one. I am very disappointed that it only lasted 7 years. Oh I forgot to mention the ice maker went out about a year ago. We did get new filters as instructed. We did not buy another Whirlpool.

I purchased a Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator from Lowe's for $1,100. It arrived missing a shelf. Last year, the warranty expired and the ice maker mysteriously failed. Next a drawer slide failed. Next the lights, both of them, failed. I was offered a service call, the estimate $300+. Next, the ice bucket bottom broke and filled the freezer with cubes. Next another drawer slide failed. Whirlpool makes an over-priced, poorly engineered, poorly made product and Lowes sells their products without any care for their customers. I will do my best to warn anybody who is interested that while Whirlpool used to be a good company, it has degraded into producing junk and trading on a once storied reputation. And Lowes touts these products without any interest in its consumers.

I purchased a $950 whirlpool refrigerator from Lowe's in Tucson. 2 months after the 1 yr warranty expired, I paid $450 in repair bills to have it fixed. After 9 months of visits by the repairman and loss of hundreds of dollars in spoiled food, they deemed my fridge "unrepairable". Then Whirlpool called me and said they would exchange my fridge for a better one for $688. My loss is now up to approx. $2000 counting spoiled food.

We have recently retired and moved into a smaller home. The kitchen needed to be furnished with all of the normal appliances. We bought two Whirlpool products, a refrigerator and trash compactor. Since we are living on a fixed budget, I was hoping that the furnishings that were bought would last as long as our past appliances did. However, our brand new refrigerator after two and a half years needed to have a new light installed. We called Whirlpool and set up for a repair. The repair was $290.00. We paid the repair man working for Whirlpool, then called Whirlpool and asked if there was anything they could do to help with the cost. They suggested that we buy a protection plan. Both of the refrigerators we have owned during the past fifty years lasted twenty plus years. This one only went two and a half before having to be serviced.

Whirlpool's answer to my request of helping out with this $290 service call was "Sorry, you should have bought a service plan." I wish I would have gone with either of the same brands that we had in the past. Those being, Sears and Sub-Zero. I would suggest that those of you who are contemplating buying a kitchen appliance, choose a company that has a product that will go more than two and a half years without having to be serviced. Neither of the other refrigerators that we had ever had to be serviced. They stayed with the houses we sold.

I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator at Lowe's after my 16-month-old $4000 Samsung died and Samsung didn't care. I thought I was purchasing a better product. Six months old and the Whirlpool died. Service tech came out, said he had to order parts. That was on 1/21/2020. It is now 3/5/2020 and I still have no refrigerator. After being told week after week after week that I had to wait for parts, 3 weeks ago they finally approved a replacement refrigerator. STILL WAITING FOR THAT. Have completely lost confidence in Whirlpool and would not recommend the brand to anyone. Lousy customer service and lousy product. So disappointed. No reimbursement offer for lost food, weeks of having to purchase take out, gas to store daily... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

I have never posted a negative product review but must do so now. The refrigerator is 1 1/2 years old at most and has been well taken care of. I noticed today that the finish at either side of the bottom of each refrigerator door handle has a problem. I couldn't tell if the finish was pitting or is just discolored. I called customer service and expected that they would help, especially since we have an extended warranty. Representative number one told me that the extended warranty only covers problems that affect the function of the product. I spoke to her supervisor and then her supervisor. I got plenty of apologies but no support. I offered to send pictures, but they were not even interested in checking out the problem.

After speaking to them, I took the handle off and I see now that the handle cut into some sort of film that exists on the metal. (I am not talking about the protective plastic coating that is on the the refrigerator at delivery.) The film is lifting off the surface and creating discoloration. If Whirlpool was at all concerned, I think this issue could be fixed with some sort of gasket to keep the metal handle from cutting into the surface. I'm hoping the problem is static, but hard to say what will happen. If they had been interested in trying to understand the cause of the problem, it would have been easier to accept the limitations of the warranty. It would have demonstrated an interest in avoiding this problem for other consumers in the future. My last Whirlpool product. Period. Good luck if you decide to do business with them.
