Very disappointed in this 2 +yr old refrigerator that won't cool enough for the food. 45° is what it cools to. It's set on 33°! Door ice-maker doesn't work. The freezer works fine, and it makes ice. Very Sad that it would cost around $1,000 to fix a 2 yr old Refrigerator. It would cost almost $1,000 to fix. That's Sad that it only worked for almost 2 yrs.

Purchased a Whirlpool sided by side WRS588FIHZ06 in July and have had it replaced 4 times due to malfunctioning freezer / poor seal.. Things freeze. Thaw. Refreeze. Ice buildup.. Completely unacceptable for a new product..Due to timing issues we did not have the water line installed until recently and now we have a non functioning ice maker.. When water fills the ice line it leaks all over the floor.. Water line is working. No leaking when using water side..We have had so many service calls I’ve lost count … Now freezer door needs to be replaced which will take 6~8 weeks.. So afraid I’ll be back to a poor sealing freezer.. If I could find any other manufacturer's product to fit in the spot I absolutely would but we are stuck.. What happened to the quality of Whirlpool? Extremely disappointed. Would not recommend or purchase Whirlpool again..

I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator in June of 2024 and the freezer temperature goes to 32 degrees and melts the ice and the ice cream and then after destroying my ice cream it cools back down to negative 10 degrees. This is not normal. I have contacted Whirlpool and they have sent a technician out twice but they still haven't figured it out. After changing every part except for the compressor, I still do not have a working refrigerator and now it's December. I feel as if Whirlpool does not take responsibility for their products. I have bought Whirlpool appliances for a long time but after this experience, no more!

The compressor of my Whirlpool bottom mount fridge with model no. URB551WNGZ started failing only after 2 months of using the brand new fridge, I called customer service in worse customer, they had to replace the compressor for me, as it completely stopped working after two months of purchase. After the new part was replaced, the fridge started making loud noises all the time, louder than my Nespresso machine, it's not with a reasonable tolerance level, I cannot sleep and do my work with the noise of fridge compressor on almost 24/7. It’s making louder noises than any old fridges I have used in the past. And I have to wear earplugs at home.

I called the customer service many times, they told me it’s not in their warranty, as long as the fridge is functioning, they expect each compressor has different level of noise, their customer service wouldn’t escalate my requests to corporate or higher level, it’s an dead end if the person over the customer service line deny to provide further help. They told me the only way to resolve it is to buy a new fridge from them and they could offer some discount but there won’t be any warranty coming with the new one. Please use your own judgement before buying any Whirlpool fridge, I haven’t experienced this low level of customer service or quality of fridge before. The plastic shelves inside also very easily break. I would expect a new fridge to function like a new fridge if I paid the full price for it, not some substandard fridge with non fixable compressor issue, which they refused to warrant. Save your time and energy, buy a different brand.

After the unpacking on the truck and setup a noticeable dent on right side and a melted seal on the refrigerator side which hampers the seal of door. This had to be done at the manufacturer. I witnessed the unpacking of Refrigerator on the truck. Who is doing the inspections at the manufacturer? Obviously this Refrigerator wasn't inspected before packaging for shipment. Now we have to wait 15 more days for our replacement/exchange. Unbelievable and Unacceptable. It will be 25 days without a functioning Refrigerator. Be advised, the delivery team was one of the most professional teams that I come across in a while. Standing by for the Refrigerator that I purchased on 19 October.

Two months ago, I discovered that the door had rusted in several spots, and the condition has been getting worse. I called Whirlpool customer service three times and emailed them with attached pictures. Finally, they informed me that my fridge is not under warranty, and I would have to pay 50 percent of the cost to replace the door. I did not accept this because I paid $2,500 for the fridge, and I cannot trust the quality if I have to pay for repairs. This is poor and unacceptable quality.

The worst customer service ever. The fridge kept having problems immediately after the warranty expired. All the problems are related to a very poor design of wirings and mechanisms. The wires crossing from the freezer section to the freezer door where all the electronic controls are got snapped because of the simple operation of the door. Only by opening and closing the door, those wires wear off to the point that they simply snap interrupting communication with vital mechanisms like the ice maker and the defrost cycle. Extremely poor design.

A Chilling Disappointment: Whirlpool Refrigerator Fails to Deliver. After investing in a brand new Whirlpool refrigerator on September 4th, I've been left with nothing but regret and spoiled food. Despite four service calls and over a month of patience, this appliance has proven to be a colossal failure.

Persistent Temperature Issues. The refrigerator stubbornly refuses to reach the manufacturer's recommended temperature of 38°F, hovering instead at an unacceptable 42°F1. Even more concerning, the freezer can't maintain the desired 0°F, instead struggling to stay below 10°F. These temperatures are far from ideal for food safety and preservation.

Ineffective Service Calls. Four separate service calls have yielded zero improvements. The technician's attempts to set the temperatures to 38°F for the refrigerator and -4°F for the freezer have been futile. It's baffling that trained professionals cannot resolve what should be a straightforward issue.

Unacceptable Customer Service. Whirlpool's response to this ongoing problem has been nothing short of disappointing. What other company would expect customers to tolerate a defective product for over a month? The lack of a replacement offer is particularly galling, especially considering the essential nature of a refrigerator in daily life.

False Advertising. This refrigerator is clearly not performing as advertised. The inability to maintain proper cooling temperatures renders it essentially useless for its primary purpose. It's unacceptable that a major appliance manufacturer like Whirlpool would allow such a subpar product to reach consumers.

Time and Patience Wasted. The amount of time and patience required to deal with this issue has been unreasonable. Multiple service appointments, constant temperature monitoring, and the stress of potentially unsafe food storage have taken their toll. How much longer are customers expected to endure this inconvenience?

In conclusion, this Whirlpool refrigerator has been nothing but a source of frustration and disappointment. The company's failure to address the issue promptly and effectively is a clear indication of their disregard for customer satisfaction. Potential buyers should think twice before trusting Whirlpool with their hard-earned money and the safety of their food.

I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator in 2023 which Whirlpool elected to replace in December 2023 due to an ongoing problem. The replacement refrigerator had the exact same problem as the original one, then it quit working the week of Christmas 2023. The certified Whirlpool Appliance repair company (S&S Appliance) has made more than 10 service calls on the replacement refrigerator since January 2024 and replace more than 25 parts, replacing multiple parts more than once. Parts that have been replaced include the icemaker, valves, gaskets, tubes, reservoir and a regulator. I did not receive the invoice of parts replaced in January 2024 and have asked for it numerous times and all requests have gone unanswered.

The replacement refrigerator received in December 2023 has more problems than the original purchased in 2023. Currently the water is so loud when the icemaker fills up or water dispensed from the front door, it can be heard all over the house. It was not like this when the refrigerator was delivered, the loud noise started after multiple parts were replaced.

I have discussed this with Whirlpool many times and the reply I get is "the refrigerator is operating as it should", which IT IS NOT. 8/30/24 was the last service call and the two problems (ice bin is filling with water and freezing into a solid block of ice, and the water dispensing is extremely loud) were not corrected. I have contacted Whirlpool yet again for another service call. This refrigerator is a lemon and should be replaced. I will NEVER purchase another Whirlpool appliance and recommend the same to everyone I know. I did not want to give a one star rating...I would like to give a minus ten!!!

As part of the deal when I bought my house in Dec. 2022, the previous owners had to replace the existing refrigerator. They left a brand new Whirlpool. Firstly the design itself is awful. Nothing fits well into the shelf compartments, as if the engineers just threw something together without any regard for what might be stored there. The top isn't flat, rather it's bulging as if someone jammed stuff inside to make it fit, and now the seal on the freezer has peeled halfway off so the door no longer shuts right, leaving a situation with ice and frost forming inside. I would expect more from an old established brand like this, including a company that can stand behind a major purchase like this for more than one year. I will probably soon be replacing this unit and will steer way clear of buying any Whirlpool products in the future.

I have never been more disgusted. My $1300 stainless steel fridge MOD.WRS321SDHZ08 turned 2 years old this month. I called the warranty services because it was warm one day. They told me that I would need to come have a tech diagnose the issue even though I have already diagnosed it. The problem is it is the defroster. A CRUICIAL PART of a working refrigerator that is ONLY COVERED as part of the 1 YEAR WARRANTY! So they gave me 2 options. Option 1 is a one time fix costing $477 PAID IN FULL BEFORE ANYONE WILL EVEN LOOK AT IT!!! (30% of the cost of the fridge). Or I could purchase a warranty which would cost me $43 a month INDEFINITELY! (Because if it doesn't last 2 years, it could break literally everyday!) I have thrown out everything in my fridge multiple times now because of this.

ALL of my kitchen appliances are Whirlpool. But I will never be purchasing Whirlpool products in the future if they cannot stand behind their product for longer than 1 year! Refrigerators should last 40 years without issues! As I have now found, this model has a history of the defroster being an issue. It should be recalled. It is made with cheap parts in Mexico and at one point the evaporator fan stopped because it got caught on another part which shifted over about an inch because the zip tie that was holding it back slid slightly. If I had called someone out at that point I would've paid them $150 for a zip tie! I'll probably just learn how to fix it myself because I'm not paying some schmuck to come out to bend me over a barrel like Whirlpool already did.

I Bought a brand new Whirlpool french door refrigerator in May '24 from Home Depot costing $1,800. After 5 days, both the freezer and ice machine stopped working. Home Depot has 48 hr return policy on all major appliances. (Please keep that in mind) so I had to call Whirlpool under my 1 yr. Warranty. Over the next 2 months they sent various repairmen to my home 6 times in total, to attempt to fix it. Plus another 2 times that were no shows. That's 8 mornings I took off from work in total. Only after 2 months with no freezer/ice machine, attempting 6 times to repair and changing a multitude of parts did they FINALLY decide to credit me (not refund) the $1,800 towards a replacement. And here's the icing on the cake....

Whirlpool Corporate informed me that my model had been discontinued from when I purchased it 2 months ago, but that they'd credit me what I paid ($1,800) towards another model. Although, if I decided to replace it with a model costing less, they would not refund me the difference! Is that even legal?? They also informed me that a refund was not an option, even though it was deemed defective out of the box. I also asked if I could get compensated in any way for the nightmare they put me through, including my estimated 32 hrs in total I had to take off from work to meet their repairmen? Whirlpool Corporate's answer was simply.."No, Whirlpool does not compensate." By the way, I just discovered on 08/15/24 that there is a class action law suit filed against Whirlpool for you guessed it....their refrigerators.

I wouldn’t even give this Whirlpool refrigerator one star. The product quality is terrible, and the service is even worse. I received a brand-new Whirlpool refrigerator as part of my new home, but the freezer section never cooled properly from day one. When I contacted customer care for a replacement, they refused, stating that because it was purchased through the builder as part of my home package, it couldn't be replaced. They insisted that unless the service technicians declared the appliance irreparable, they wouldn’t replace it. The service technicians took 3-4 months and multiple visits to fix the fridge, all while I endured a Southern summer without a working freezer or ice maker. Their lack of expertise was frustrating, and customer care was completely unhelpful.

After finally managing to repair the freezer, it worked for just another year before breaking down again—this time, the compressor failed. Since the refrigerator was out of warranty, Whirlpool only covered the compressor and sealed parts, but not the labor cost. The labor estimate I received was nearly the cost of a new refrigerator, so I ended up throwing away a two-year-old appliance and buying a new one. I faced similar issues with other Whirlpool appliances like the microwave and washer. Because of this experience, I will never purchase another Whirlpool product. I’ve advised my friends to steer clear as well. This was the worst experience I’ve had with any brand.

Service people think there may be a freon leak but won’t know until they tear it apart. Warranty does not cover this. Today the microwave quit working. No warranty covered on that either. And to think I still have a Whirlpool dishwasher, washer and dryer yet. I’m sure they will be failing soon as well.

The new refrigerator has three freezer shelves and seven shelf spaces, and arranged logically I have 22" between shelves. Angela at Whirlpool tells me they do not recommend buying more shelves because it will impede the airflow, and she gave me no help whatsoever on how to buy more shelving. You MAY be able to fit about a third of your expected frozen food in the freezer. I bought one shelf -- $250 -- and it doesn't even fit properly. But feel happy for Whirlpool, they saved a fan outlet and shelves. The refrigerator is LOUD and wakes me up at night. It locks without input, so that's a repair charge down the road when I am locked out of my bare-minimum food. And I paid more to get this brand!

Not with this fridge. I finally gave up and bought a second fridge just to keep vegetables. Also the cheese tray thing falls out and drops all my food on the floor. Happened dozens of times. There is another class action lawsuit against Whirlpool for their wiring in their refrigerators. However the issue is not isolated to Whirlpool refrigerators. I recently had to replace my 1.5 year old washing machine for the same wiring issue. After 18 months of use, the wires leading to the drain pump snapped. We called Whirlpool and it was of course out of warranty. We were forced to call an appliance repair company as we had a newborn baby at home. This repair company wanted to replace the entire motherboard. Being that the washer was almost brand new, we had a second repairman come out. He repaired the wires and got it working again. Two months later it happened again. He came back and fixed the wires again. The third time that the wires snapped was the final straw.

I reached out to Whirlpool one more time to do right by their product. I wrote a negative review on Home Depot and Whirlpool. They posted what seemed like a very “concerned” reply and asked me to reach out via Facebook with a case number. After reaching out via Facebook, they suggested I download their app. Mind you, the wires were snapped. Their app was not going to fix this. When this “solution” didn’t work, they told me to reach out to their customer service number. When I called, they offered me 20% off a new washing machine. I would NEVER purchase anything Whirlpool. I don’t care who recommends these products, their company is absolutely disgraceful.

Tech has been out three times and not fixed. So warranty service has been fine but just cannot fix it. They absolutely and here is the ***buyer beware*** will not fix the door as "the warranty does not cover any damage that the faulty part causes". So they will fix the problem but if it damages your floor or the unit itself or whatever, they are out. AND "there is no one in the company that can override the written warranty". AND the manager of the escalation team is "not customer facing" so you can only deal with the person reading off queue cards when you call in. The good news is that they are sending a tech out again for the 4th time but even if he fixes, I live with a damaged unit that has water stains down the front of it.

The Whirlpool French door fridge we bought has a horrible design, obviously was never thought through on if it would even work as designed, it does not. The center plastic shelf - that has the two "crisper" compartments and table glass - as a shelf all add "start" weight to the shelf where the owner is supposed to be able to place food items into the compartments and even on top the plastic lined glass shelf - that's the way it was designed - very flawed! There is no support in the front - thus once the shelf and glass, and plastic frame support and compartments are installed the shelf is already sagging under its own weight.

Now placed actual food items in the compartments and on top of the glass top - AS DESIGNED - it bends (Sags) in the middle, thus you have trouble sliding the compartments out and at times cannot open these compartments unless you remove the food items on top of the glass shelf that is also weighing down the compartments, without a front support the compartments and main shelf is useless, this fridge is garbage, never again whirlpool, be warned.

We had a Kenmore Elite refrigerator that sprung a water leak on the door and the technician said it will cost about $1000 to replace it and if we buy a new one, the "best" in the market is a Whirlpool - found out later totally false. Lowe's had a sale on their Whirlpool WRX735SDHZ08 and it looked nice on the outside so we bought it. It's for our 2nd home. We found out we had to push the left door shut to completely close it. This happened many times and cold air leaks out since it was not obvious the door was not completely closed. We put a warning tape to push the door shut but we still forget sometimes.

I called Whirlpool and they scheduled a technician (same repair shop that recommended Whirlpool) and he looked and said he can't find anything wrong -just tilted the unit higher on the front so the door will fall back - didn't solve the problem. He ordered two new door parts which he said are the only parts involved door closure. The parts came and they looked totally the same as the original. Asked him why he thinks the new parts are better -he doesn't know. He put them on and said it was better. I checked and it performed the same as the original, and maybe slightly worse. The technician said there is nothing wrong with it and he can't do any repair. He said it works fine. Of course there is nothing he can do - it was a bad design. The door when he left still doesn't shut close unless you push it, even at ¼- inch away from the unit.

Whirlpool said there is nothing wrong with the refrigerator and you have to push shut the door to close it. Don't know if this Whirlpool support agent has a refrigerator. We've had many refrigerators over 40+ years in three homes and this is the first and only one we had a problem like this which that company says "NORMAL". All I wanted was to return it and buy another one of their models (which would have been another mistake anyway). But their agent said unless there a defect that cannot be repaired, I don't have any recourse. NEVER AGAIN, including that "certified repair shop".

I have all Whirlpool appliances and have always stuck with Whirlpool, Has always been my go-to brand but this new suite of appliances I bought only one has been good so far is the dishwasher. Microwave still in box, stove out box unused and won't use without having a lock, Fridge is rendering useless. All the sudden I get up today and my fridge is randomly sending water to my ice maker, then ice does freeze, it takes 3 hrs then finally dumps them. Ice bin only a quarter full after 3 days. I was making ice prior to this for a month or so with no problems. Ice cream doesn't freeze unless fridge is maxed out. So much for the recommend setting. Shelves barely stay on the supports and move around.

And then I refuse to use my oven because I want a lock on it, like they used to have and still have on other models just not steam models and does not specify this. So that it keeps kids from climbing in it. Control locks do no good as they can reach him anyway but they sure can open that door and get in. So I need to find out how I go about getting a manual lock or an automatic one, it has the openings to have one mounted in there just not one there. So at this point, I'm not too satisfied with Whirlpool. I don't have time or the mental capacity to deal with stuff that does not work. I am a disabled veteran and fixed income and had saved for these appliances. I have Parkinson's Disease so remodeling myself is going slowly. I had them 6 months so I didn't risk not being able to get them later. I really would like my money back and the appliances taken out.

I did the online chat at your website and got sent from the first person the parts and then from the parts department to customer service and I'm back to the parts department, nobody knows where I need to go apparently or wants to handle it. When I tried to respond on Twitter or X and obvious that change and I got message you there, I've left reviews on my appliances at the moment on Lowe's and Whirlpool websites. Use to be really great, not anymore. stay away, spend your money on something with quality if that still exist anymore. Thank you, Brad.

Purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator from Lowes. It was delivered with a dent in the door. Instead of replacing the refrigerator, Lowes only replaced the door (retail stores are only liable for the first 48 hours of the sale so the longer they can put you off they will to make it the mfg fault.) We tried following the rules and now we have a non-working ice maker on our 1800.00 refrigerator. Now after 3 door replacements, the icemaker still does not work. Whirlpools sent the repairman twice to fix and replace the door. The new doors do not seal properly (and won't). The repairman advised - Whirlpool will not replace the refrigerator if there is something wrong, they will continue to try to have it repaired.

Lowe's advised me nothing they can do now it is the manufacturer's fault. Whirlpool told me Lowe's sold us a floor model, Lowe's denies that. Do not buy a Whirlpool. Their customer service is non-existent - once they get your money. Good luck and do not buy from Lowe's. We bought an extended warranty too but it is all just a waste of money.

My husband couldn't figure out how to get cover off to see what kind of led bulb we needed to replace, so we called whirlpool and they advised us we couldn't change or get replacement bulbs. They said we would have to call and pay for someone to come out and change the bulb. So my husband said, just tell me how to get the cover off and I will buy the bulb myself. They said, "No you can't buy the bulbs yourself. You can only call a serviceman out, they are the only ones who can get them!" What a rip off!!

Whirlpool wants everyone who buys one of their refrigerators to have to pay outrageous prices for a service call to change a light bulb!!!! I have always purchased and liked whirlpool in the past, but now I am wanting to purchase a different brand in the future, due to this problem!!! It is a shame as high priced as everything is, these days, that whirlpool would do this to their customers!!! If you don't want to get stuck like we did I would advise you do your homework before purchasing appliances these days!!! Now we have a fridge that has basically no light and it will stay that way as long as we have this fridge, because we refuse to pay a service person to come out and change a light bulb!!!!

My Whirlpool Refrigerator was 8 years old. The frig temperature was at 48 degrees, and the freezer was at 30 degrees. We used the manual to troubleshoot the issue. It states that the condenser requires cleaning every 2-3 months if the environment is greasy, dusty or has pet traffic (otherwise, it NEVER needs cleaning). Our kitchen environment is clean, and we have no pets. The condenser is at floor level, and after 8 years, it was packed with dirt and dust. Customer service stands by this negligent statement in the manual. There's plenty of online information provided by expert repair people stating that the condenser needs cleaning every 6 months, regardless of the environment. In my view, Whirlpool should have offered to do the right thing and offer free service to rectify the issue. I'd give them ZERO stars if I could!

Then the center rail for the crisper bins broke (all plastic of course). Replaced that. Six months later, broke again. Replaced, broke again. Can't handle more than 2-3 pounds of fruit or veggies in each bin. Now the plastic frame for the crisper top is broken. Replacement is $100. Besides the shelving, the ice maker only lasted 2 years and the freezer door often does not close properly and the freezer frosts up.

I guess I didn't take the hint from this one. Bought a separate Whirlpool fridge for a vacation home in 2020 and it didn't last two years. Constant electronic control box issues. After that went out for the second time, I ditched the Whirlpool and got an LG. So far, so good on that one. Whirlpool seems to be making trash lately, like many of the other brands.

It has a sealed component that doesn't work, a broken condenser, the interior frame and freezer door are damaged.

It was a defective refrigerator from the get-go but Whirlpool will not replace it. They have a standard "policy" that three repairs have to be attempted, even though it is a brand new appliance. We bought a new house (new construction Feb/2022) so all appliances came with the house. The refrigerator stopped cooling after two months. Lots of spoiled food (over $200.00 worth) and no telling how long it wasn’t working before we realized. Since it was under manufacturer warranty, we had to deal with builder vendor who was useless. After so many calls to him and lots of frustration and anger. I finally got a tech to come out and all he did was quickly diagnose and a week later finally put two new parts in (harness &thermostat). It worked for a while, and then recently same problem (now under extended warranty because we didn’t trust the fix).

I also advise DO NOT GET EXTENDED WARRANTY. So now losing more food and not able to get a tech out for a couple weeks. Had to buy another refrigerator. Since the 2021 refrigerator is now under extended warranty we paid for. I had to wait a week to get it serviced, and the tech basically replace same part. It never cold so AGAIN had had to call warranty company. I said this is the third time which bylaw should be considered 11. The tech called his tech line and after a lot of discussion (they really can’t determine what is wrong) he is ordering another part. The text said warranty company should determine whether I get a new refrigerator. At this point warranty company said they cannot make that determination so guess what the customer stuck in the middle with no resolution. I agreed with a Whirlpool representative to accept an extended warranty as compensation for the lost food. The refrigerator ended up having an internal leak that couldn't be repaired. They replaced the refrigerator at no cost (it took 2 weeks of living out of coolers, with children in the home). The cost of the ice was again, left for me to burden.

After the new unit arrived, I called Whirlpool to ask about getting the extended warranty transferred to the new unit. I was told that the offer was only good on the old unit, and they would not be able to help me. I tried to explain how and why I was offered the extended warranty, to no avail. The representative as well as the supervisor I spoke with would budge on giving me the extended warranty. I hope that everyone who reads this takes my warning... Whirlpool does not care about you, your family, or the financial burden that they put on their customers. If one person reads this and decides not to buy a Whirlpool product because of my review, I will be satisfied. I'm clearly hoping for more than one that takes my warning. When this refrigerator dies, it's goodbye Whirlpool!

I purchased a Whirlpool and it was the biggest mistake I made when buying appliances. I spent $3200 on my fridge that I had for 6 years and purchased 2 extended warranties (each one cost me $500). In the end I was reimbursed 45% of what I initially paid. The fridge was deemed a lemon and they decided to give me 1/2 of my money back instead of replacing the fridge. I was told by Whirlpool customer service multiple times that if my fridge was deemed a lemon they would replace my fridge. Whirlpool owns Kitchen Aid, Amana and Jenn Air. I would steer clear of any products they offer unless you want to spend all your time with repair companies. My fridge was repairs 20 times in 5 years. Seriously? The quality is HORRIBLE and Whirlpool is laughing all the way to the bank. Don't waste your money on extended warranties if your goal (if the fridge is a lemon) is to get a new fridge. That WON'T happen.

I purchased from Lowes on 08/21/22 a Whirlpool Refrigerator model WRS571CIHZ. In January 2023 my food was freezing in the refrigerator, Whirlpool sent Flamingo Appliance Service, the first time here they said that nothing was wrong and they felt that the vents were blocked. I made sure that nothing was blocking the vent in the refrigerator and my food was still freezing in the refrigerator. I phoned Flamingo Appliance Service and they told me that they would be ordering 2 parts to replace on my refrigerator, when I phoned to see when they would be replacing the parts I was told that the parts were on back order and they had no idea when the parts would arrive.

I phoned Whirlpool about the back ordered parts and after many calls and no answer I contacted the Attorney Generals Senior Abuse hotline. (Please understand that my husband's diabetic medicine that costs $600.00 was freezing due to the parts that needed replacement.) Whirlpool did nothing to help me until they were contacted by the Senior Abuse department. Whirlpool found the parts and Flamingo Appliance Service came out a week later as they are short on staff. Whirlpool would not assign another company that works with them as Flamingo Appliance Service would be the only company they would allow under their manufacture warranty.

I now have a new problem today 04/26/23 with my refrigerator as the refrigerator is not cooling properly as everything today was warm. I just went shopping yesterday and paid over $200.00 for groceries that are spooling. I phoned Whirlpool today and they said that Flamingo Appliance Service was the only company they would allow and they would not be able to get anyone here until May 04, 2023. I phoned Flamingo Appliance Service and they confirmed that they do not have enough service people on staff and I would have to wait. I want my refrigerator replaced by Whirlpool with a new one or I want my full refund for what I paid and my lemon refrigerator taken out of my home. The only service Whirlpool provides is LIP SERVICE, DO NOT BUY A WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT.

I bought the sleek Whirlpool for a remodel job. It was installed in September - October 2021. It started when my tenant was unable to keep his ice frozen. We finally had a service tech come out for $125 to advise me that the compressor is the issue. He said that about 3% of the Whirlpool Fridges experience this kind of slow death. The freezer became the fridge and I reached out to Whirlpool, sent pictures of the MFGR stamp, etc. They took my information and today I received a wonderful email from them. They said in the email how disappointed they were that I was NOT a satisfied customer. I asked why they would not want to at least send a service rep out to see why this unit did not last. They said No and they cannot service it as it was past their 12 month warranty. I basically rented the fridge for 15 months for around $49.50 per month. I cannot replace the compressor and make it worth the cost.

In 2021 we purchased a Whirlpool SxS Fridge mod #WRS312SNHM06 from Lowe's in Victoria B.C. We purchased extended warranty as well for peace of mind but we soon learned that has done nothing to help us deal with the awful noise maker we now have in our kitchen. We noticed a loud oscillating buzz coming from the fridge the first day it was delivered. So we called Lowes but they said we need to call the warranty people which took 3 weeks to have someone come and have a look.

I took a day off work without pay to meet a tech at our home. He checked the fridge and said the fridge sounded normal and tried to say because we have an older house fridges can sometimes make more noise. This to me, being a mechanic for over 35 years, sounded like pure **. I told him that there is something in the bottom of the fridge that is vibrating against something that shouldn't be. He just said we have perfecting good working fridge. It was obvious at this point that we had purchased an inferior quality Whirlpool product from Lowes. Since then, I have investigated the oscillating noise myself and discovered a flimsy drip tray at the bottom of the fridge was partially responsible for some of the racket. I managed to readjust it to lessen some of the noise but there is still something that vibrates that shouldn't be which makes the fridge very annoying to have to listen to.

We have since had the same service tech come out to replace a door light switch which fell apart one day. The tech installed a different switch which required him cutting a larger hole in the interior of the fridge and doesn't appear to fit properly but at least the light works. I told him that I had adjusted the drip tray at the bottom which was making some of the noise and he just looked at me with stunned eyes and couldn't say anything. I have considered that one day I will load the fridge in the back of my truck and park it in Lowes parking lot with a sign on the fridge saying beware of this. I hope this helps you have better luck with your next fridge purchase.

My refrigerator was purchased in April 2022 and my unit was made in March 2022. My unit stopped working 1/8/23 and I still have no working refrigerators. I emailed Whirlpool and no one has responded to my emails. I have been treated badly by Whirlpool in trying to get my 9 month old refrigerator repaired. On January 8, 2023, the refrigerator started making a clicking noise. The next morning I woke up to all of my food warm and bad.

I called Whirlpool and waited on hold for 1 1/2 hours with no answer. I went online to make a service appointment and got one scheduled, not until, January 18, 2023. The next morning I called Whirlpool again and spoke to April from Ohio. She could care less about my issues. In fact, she cancelled my service appointment. She marked it as a duplicate appointment but I only had one appointment scheduled. April also told me my lost food was not covered by the Whirlpool warranty. I lost at least $600 worth of food. The technicians that came out stated that lost food had been covered to their knowledge.

I also emailed Whirlpool and John P., answered my email with a “staple” reply congratulating me on my new appliance but never addressed my issues. I called back and had to schedule a new appointment which was another day out, January 19, 1023. The technicians came out and guess what, it is the compressor that went out. Guess what, now parts have to be ordered and I am still without a working refrigerator. The technicians that came out believe Whirlpool is using incompatible compressor with the new Freon system. They have seen so many compressor issues since the change.

They estimated the parts would take about a week to get and then I have to wait for a special technician to come out because my new refrigerator has to be fixed by one of two guys that know the new butane/Freon system on refrigerators. VERY poor customer service and they don’t back up their products. They also could care less that you are living without a working refrigerator. Model number: WRF757SDHZ03. These units should be recalled and replaced. My next inquiry will be how to start filing a class action lawsuit. Don’t waste your money on any Whirlpool appliance. We called for warranty service and had to wait for over a week before anyone could come out. To be clear, my unit went out just before Thanksgiving and my family of 5 lived out of a cooler with ice until we could get a rental unit from a local appliance rental store. Thanksgiving came and went…CHRISTmas has come and gone…we are now into the New Year and my fridge is STILL broken.

Whirlpool sent a technician out 5 times already and he has not been able to fix the unit. When you call their customer “care”, you might be lucky if you get to talk to one of their very nice people in under a 30 minute hold time. Then when you do, they are very sorry and can only schedule another service time for a tech to come back out. I talked to a customer care supervisor and told him that I think what I have dealt with is unreasonable and that it was time for Whirlpool to replace the unit. They disagreed. Of course!

Whirlpool already has their money from my unfortunate purchase and now my warranty is wearing away while they literally do not fix my fridge. They offered a 3 month service agreement (not to be confused with an extended warranty, I was told)…but what does it matter if my brand new fridge is still not working!?! Representatives are not trained properly, the company does not document their calls and activities on the claim files to be able to provide updates, don’t respond to emails, there aren’t enough representatives to assist which causes long hold times, and nothing is ever resolved in one attempt. My issue goes back to September 15, 2022 where I asked George’s Appliances (**) to come look at my fridge which was warm. The fridge receipt is attached to this complaint and is less than two years old.

September 20, 2022 The technician came out and found that the heater in the refrigerator kept going and caused a fire which melted the refrigerator. The heater not working has caused ice buildup which causes the overall refrigerator to be warm. The technician said it was unsafe, and there will be too much wrong with the refrigerator to fix it and he would reach out with Whirlpool to see about replacing the refrigerator. September 21, 2022 Kathy from George’s Appliances said Whirlpool was exchanging the fridge and provided file number: **. Whirlpool was supposed to contact me and never did. I followed up in days after hearing the file number and struggled to find anybody that knew anything. When I finally reached somebody (after multiple transfers and tons of hold times) I was told ANOTHER technician needs to come asses the fridge.

September 24th George’s Appliances came out a second time and said the same thing again to me. I had to chase Whirlpool around AGAIN after not hearing from them, and finally was able to get the email address to send my receipt and was told by Jan via email on September 28, 2022: “Thank you for sending in the receipt. The buyback will be processed for $946.65. Once we have the check back from the bank, it will be sent to our service provider, George's Appliance, who will contact you to set up a time to deliver the check and pick up the unit.” October 2, 2022 George’s Appliances reached out and said Whirlpool would be doing the exchange. I waited weeks, and called George’s Appliances on October 17, 2022 and they said they hadn’t heard anything and to call Whirlpool.

Today is the single worst customer service experience I have ever had. I was on hold for 30 minutes before speaking with somebody named Chrissy who said she didn’t handle the question I needed answered and transferred me to the “correct department.” I waited an additional hour and spoke with Tanya who said SHE didn’t handle the question either. She said I needed the Product Exchange Team. I pleaded with Tanya not to transfer me. I told her that whoever she transferred me to most likely wouldn’t help me and asked for the needed department to call me back or a direct number but she said there are no callbacks for that specific department and they don’t have a direct number. Tonya assured me it wouldn’t be a long hold, and went ahead and transferred. When she transferred there was a message saying that that department was closed for lunch and a call back later and disconnected the call.

I was beyond angry at this point for being transferred to a department that was out of the office and wasting all of my time and energy explaining the problem from person to person and never getting an answer. I feel it’s important to share this experience because it’s something that needs to be changed. More representatives are needed and need to be better trained. This has been the absolute worst company to deal with and somebody needs to hear this. I just want a company that recognizes their mistakes, treats customers correctly, and communicates appropriately.

The warranty repairman came out a week later. He ordered a capacitor, and one other part. He said he sees a lot of issues with the capacitors. I was told to call his company if I didn't hear anything in a week.

Well I called. And she said to give them three more weeks. My one year warranty is expiring. I feel totally obligated to purchase the extended warranty for $119.65 now. Yes, I could argue with Whirlpool because the issue technically started in the one year period, but where will that get me? When you try to call customer service you are on hold for one hour, and forty five minutes. Yes, that is correct. I timed it. So now I am spending an extra $119.65 on a refrigerator that I can not trust. Maybe that is the object of the whole scam in the first place.

We spent $2800 on a refrigerator freezer, but the extended warranty including the food replacement. They won’t honor any of it. I have now been without a refrigerator for over four weeks and they're telling me it will be another two before parts come in to fix it. They will not even discuss replacing the food. This is the second time this refrigerator has been out in less than six months. I have been on the phone with them five separate times, on hold for more than two hours as an average, and nobody will let me even talk to a manager. We purchased the refrigerator through Lowe’s. We are going back there and hopefully they will do something about this.

The service guy takes a steamer to it to thaw it. He told me I could take a hair dryer to it which I find is ridiculous.

I am retired, fixed income, and purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer top French doors and bottom freezer. I purchased 3 year warranty and the moment it expired, my refrigerator started leaking all over the place water running back on floor toward back wall. Couldn’t move it. Too heavy. Ice maker also quit working. Call store where I purchased it and they said just sell them don’t have anything to do with product. Call whirlpool received no help, said warranty was up. Paid about 2300 for this worthless piece. Called serviceman and had to wait couple of days, he defrosted it and said it should be okay. Didn’t turn ice maker on until next morning and immediately started leaking.

Called different service and had to wait, showed up very nice, defrosted all the ice that accumulated under large drawer in refrigerator section. Kept checking it, told him other serviceman defrosted it and left should be fine. This guy finally checked valve in back of inside, had to order that part, took a week for it to come. Came back week later replaced part. Left, said it would be ok now. Left ice maker off till am, turned it on. Ice maker now working not dispensing, ice also small in size, back of ice maker now freezing. Now refrigerator is leaking, running down to floor, to back of fridge. Also with first service, I purchased new filter at store to be on sage side. I thought maybe leaking due to filter, bought another filter and placed it.

This is the worst appliance I’ve ever bought. Looked up litigations against whirlpool for their new refrigerators. So many. Looked up model numbers that might get reimbursed, naturally my model number is not included. Go figure. Bottom of refrigerator is rusting, and smudge proof coating is peeling. Coating started peeling right after I purchased this appliance. 74 year old retired nurse, with no retirement left due to husband having cancer, several strokes, kidney failure, heart failure and died. Original Review: The compressors on Whirlpool refrigerators are failing within a year. Luckily but not really, it is under the one year warranty but now the compressors are backordered. I have been without my refrigerator for over a month with the ETA on parts continually changing. The tech confirmed that the compressors are constantly failing on these and could be 2-3 months before one is available. I don't wish anyone going through what I am going through. These refrigerators and freezers quit so after building our kitchen around them and having years of headaches from freon leaks we were unaware of (the health issues), we wanted others to be aware. Then they offer a service plan now after the fact and it's 420.00 a year. So, if you want your appliance to leak, this is a health hazard and should be addressed by the government. I am not alright with freon in our home? Why would the consumer again have to provide almost 500.00 a year to replace. They also lost the original warranty. Outrageous because the sears outlet closed? What criminals? Why are people doing business like this allowed to carry on.

I am not one to throw mud at people or places, but I will say that I am so frustrated with Whirlpool right now!! We bought a fridge at Lowe's in June. Less than 2 weeks later we realized, after losing an entire fridge full of food, the refrigerator was not cooling as it should've. We called Whirlpool for repairs, they sent a tech from an authorized repair place. He would have to come by later with a new evaporator fan and asked that I have the freezer (which was working correctly) emptied. Ok, I emptied the freezer, but left the appliance running.

One week later, he came back with the evaporator fan. Took the panel off the back of the freezer and said it wasn't the evaporator fan after all. Well, it was, and it wasn't, he said. The fan was blowing downward onto the coils, not pulling the cool air up into the refrigerator as it should, he said. That makes sense. So, off he goes, but will be back again. He was to order a part to change the direction of the evaporator fan. Meanwhile, as the appliance has been running, the freezer coils now get so frozen that the fan is no longer working correctly. So, we unplug the thing and clean the mess when everything melts.

Three weeks went by. I called again about the repair that had yet to be fixed. Whirlpool said it would expand my area for a different repairman since the last guy had not been able to fix it in 3 trips. Next thing I know, the same repair guy is calling me as he (unannounced) is at my house to see what else he can find wrong with this refrigerator. I, not knowing he was coming, told him to come back next week as I was out of town for an appointment.

He finally comes back the next week, this time they called ahead to tell me. Joe is home this time, but busy in another room. The repair guy ripped out the air tower in the back of the refrigerator and told me it needed holes in the back of it so the air would be able to escape to the cooled area (fridge part). Ok.... (I can see that he has no idea what he is talking about this time, but whatever. I let him leave, I show Joe what he said, had Joe call Whirlpool this time and see what we can do. By now, I am getting mad about having a large, expensive, non-working paperweight in my kitchen.

Call to Whirlpool was not productive, and they tell Joe they cannot request a repairman outside our area (which is what they told they were doing 2 weeks prior when I called them and then the repair guy shows up unannounced). Meanwhile, I called Lowe's, where I bought the paperweight, I mean refrigerator. Appliance manager was supposed to call me back later that evening. She did not.

So, I gave it another week and a couple days and I called Whirlpool again this morning. Waited for over 30 minutes for them to answer and when they did, they acted as though they couldn't hear me, I did hear every word they said, checked to make sure my mute wasn't on, tried screaming into the phone and tried it on speaker, but to no avail, they hung up. So, I get online and start a chat with someone. This chat went on for over an hour and an half. I tell the lady (at the end of our conversation) I am so fed up with this that I will be seeing my lawyer and talking to the BBB. She then calls the place that is supposed to be doing the repairs and says they told her there is a part for me (the air tower) but they can't get to me for 2 weeks.

Now, really trying to not yell, I call Lowe's again and speak with the appliance manager. She was nice, told me the repair guy should be able to start the proceedings to have the fridge replaced or my money back after 3 visits. I told her he has been here 4 times and I am waiting for a 5th visit and I am trying to be nice, but I am livid and want to scream because this has not been resolved. She then puts me on hold and connects me with Whirlpool again. Ugh!!! So, after 35 minutes of waiting online for them, a lady comes on to help me. (This is after my 1.5 hours in chat with someone.) She basically tells me the same thing the lady on the chat tells me. I am not happy!

They say I can get my own repair guy and they will reimburse me up to $150 for functional failures or up to $300 in repair costs and they will supply the parts for free. WHAT? I just want the refrigerator fixed or my money back!!! Why are they not willing to give me my money back??? Two weeks y'all!! I got to use it for less than 2 weeks and all they can do is say we will reimburse you a little money for repairs or you can wait on the same repair guy once again, in two more weeks? I'm DONE!!!!

I purchased a Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator in Feb. 2022 to replace a dead Samsung. One of the reasons I purchased Whirlpool was the purported quality. When the fridge died in July, barely 6 months after purchase, I contacted Whirlpool service for repair under the 12-month factory warranty. I was told repeatedly that it would take them 7 days or so to find a repair facility in my area (North Mississippi).

If they couldn't find one, it would be up to me to arrange repair and they would reimburse me. I wondered out loud to the service desk that if Whirlpool with all its resources couldn't find a repair shop to satisfy the factory warranty, how was I, a lowly citizen supposed to accomplish that. That question was not answered. It has been 5 days since the unit died, many dollars of food and medicine discarded and no assurance that Whirlpool will honor the warranty. I'm building a clear case for what I anticipate will be a class action lawsuit for breach of contract.

Repeatedly reaching out to Whirlpool service has yielded many different stories and promises.... none of which promise to actually honor the warranty provisions. In short, I a retiree on social security will end up buying a new refrigerator (obviously a different and trustworthy brand), and encumbering myself in additional debt. If this behavior is the new "standard" in America, then I think we're all in trouble. Nothing surprises me anymore ... mediocrity is the norm, customer service is an ancient concept and American business practice is corrupt. I intend to pass on my experience to every person I come in contact with... perhaps I can save one person from making a costly mistake!

His conclusion was the compressor is not working anymore and needs to be replaced., and he placed an order for a new compressor, right away, which would be available in 30 days.

Following are the technician's answers to some of my questions:

    1) Why would a brand new refrigerator have such an issue on this important part?
"Whirlpool is using the cheap parts to build the refrigerator these days, and it increase the chance of parts failure."
    2) Why wouldn't whirlpool keep the spare parts in stock, so that the issue can be resolved right away?
"To keep the cost, whirlpool would rather keep its inventory at lowest level."
    3) How can customers survive without a refrigerator for the next 30 days?

    "Whirlpool does not care."

    4) Since the refrigerator is just about 1 month old, and the cost of the compressor is almost the half price of refrigerator cost, can whirlpool just have the refrigerator replaced for a new one?

"Maybe, if you keep bugging the customer service every day."

He told me the problem is with one of the parts listed under covered items in the warranty. Told me the manual is general and not specific to my refrigerator. Told me the cost would be $120.00 for the trip charge, a minimum of $300.00 for labor and $200.00 to $300.00 for parts. He went in his truck to call Whirlpool to verify it wasn’t covered after my insistence. I have read and reread the warranty and can only conclude that Whirlpool lies about their warranty. Blatantly lies. In writing. I will NEVER buy another product of theirs again.

We purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator in February of 2022 and exactly 2 month from the date we purchased it, it quit running. It took Whirlpool 4 days to come to look at to say the compressor was bad and most likely was bad from the day it was delivered. We purchased the extended warranty from Lowe's but unfortunately, it does not kick in until it is a year old. We have made numerous contacts to Whirlpool and the customer service has been terrible, first they wanted us to wait 4 weeks for a compressor that was on backorder, then they said they would replace it with one from Whirlpool's website that only had 2 available and both of them were double the cost of the one we had purchased.

We are going on 4 weeks with no refrigerator. The managers at Lowe's have been trying to help us and want Whirlpool to replace it with the same one that Lowe's has in stock but to date, Whirlpool has not allowed this to happen. I mean seriously this is absolutely ridiculous and such poor customer service. Unfortunately, due to the fact it was only 2 months old, it has be handled by Whirlpool. We are at their mercy with no help from Whirlpool and no compensation at all for our inconvenience. This is the worst customer service from such a large company.

This refrigerator WRS973CIDM00 came with a suite of appliances in our new home in November 2016. First in about 18 months the LED lights in the freezer failed and we were informed it would require a new circuit board to repair at our cost. Since everything else was working, we declined the expense. Then the ice maker failed to produce ice and the repair service found the wires that lead up the freezer door were broken due to flexing when the door is opened. Paid for that repair, and learned it is a very common occurrence with these side by side models.

Now it has quit for the third time in under 5 years and we had yet another service visit but the tech said the wires could no longer be repaired. Since the wiring harness for these models has been discontinued and the only way to get a new harness is to purchase a new freezer door at half the cost of a new refrigerator! Whirlpool agreed it was a problem that is recurring so offered to provide a new door. That was in October and 6 months later they state they cannot provide the door as they have no idea when or if it will be made.

They offered us a discount on a replacement refrigerator, but there are none that will fit the space that are available, many are on "pause" meaning they are not being made and others are so back-ordered they have no idea when we would get a unit. And, the one that "might" be available soon is $4000 and even with a discount would cost us $2000 for a side by side model that likely has the same door defect as the current one. Buying another brand this time. Whirlpool...how appropriate a name...sucks consumers down an endless hole and you better be able to get out on your own. Imagine when appliances actually lasted 10-20 years...

It’s not the light bulb, it has an electrical issue. So I called whirlpool and they want to send a technician for $149 and of course plus replacement parts. This is ridiculous, this refrigerator it’s only a few months old I can’t imagine how long it will last. Whirlpool should send their technician and part replacement without a charge.

She was told to call whirlpool, so she called them many time and spent many hours on hold and getting nowhere other than false promises and a $100 gift card for the spoiled items that were in the fridge. It is 3 months later and no refrigerator that works??? Very upsetting. What kind of company does this to a 78 year old woman?

Purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator July 5, 2021, from Lowe's. I had this refrigerator for 9 months and suddenly it stopped getting cool. I called Lowe's since I purchased the product less than a year ago, but they deferred me to Whirlpool. After calling Whirlpool, they sent one of their third-party carriers to come out and look at the refrigerator. After the technician diagnosis he discovered the compressor was out. I was in disbelief with having a new refrigerator for only 9 months and the compressor went out. At that point I want the refrigerator replaced, since I planned on keeping this refrigerator for at least 10 years. I called Whirlpool to let them know I wanted the refrigerator replaced and they said since it was a warranty part, they would not replace it. I was upset at this point.

The company was not able to repair the refrigerator because they did not have experience with the Lock and key which is part of the compressor. I called Whirlpool again and they sent another company out to diagnose the problem and they also said the compressor was out. I called Whirlpool to make sure the technician will have the parts to repair my refrigerator and Whirlpool confirmed they will have the part. Another 2 weeks has passed, and I found out today, the company does not have the part and they will send a different technician out to diagnose the problem again. Whirlpool has done nothing but sent a $75 dollar gift card which is absolutely nothing. I live in a state where food and gas are expensive, and Whirlpool have done nothing but lied.

You would think they would show good customer service and replace the refrigerator. I have lost money from buying food day by day and WHIRPOOL ARE RIPOFFS!!! They cannot replace a brand new 9-month-old refrigerator. Who would want to keep a refrigerator with the compressor out already. This is ridiculous!! Please do not buy from Whirlpool. They don’t care about their customers and are a bunch of ripoffs! I will never buy another Whirlpool refrigerator again. Their refrigerators don’t last 9 months!!!! Please buy a different brand when you buy appliances and deal with brands who care about their customers!!!

We replaced our basement refrigerator with what we thought was a slick compact WRT112CZJZ top freezer model. The freezer hasn't worked from the moment it was installed. We thought it was user error, and after throwing out the first frozen/thawed foods stored, set it for the coldest setting before replacing the pizzas and other items it held. A week later, all had thawed and refrozen again - and we called in the repairman. He thought it was the controller, so we ordered a new controller, and he returned to replace it. Again put frozen items into the freezer, along with a tray of ice cubes which we monitored regularly. Once again - thawed and refrozen food was discarded and the ice cubes had clearly thawed and refrozen as well.

The third return, the repairman called in the problem and was told there were no suggestions for possible repair - regardless, after an hour on the phone with two different Whirlpool reps, was told there was a note that now we needed to change out a motor and move the damper. First - this is an outrageous expense by Whirlpool - paying for more parts and another visit (the 4th) from a repairman for an appliance that is only $600 - Second - we're ready to put the fridge on the street and write off the whole experience - and ensure we never purchase another Whirlpool product - and will share this story widely with all we know. Finally - what a terrible product - just don't buy this fridge. We thought it looked good - but didn't dive into the reviews as we should have! Stay away!

Bought a model WRT318FZDW02 (top freezer) refrigerator (new) about 3 1/2 years ago and it's already failing. The temperature regulation has failed and food in the lower compartment freezes while the temperature in the freezer compartment varies wildly. Unfortunately typical repair costs these days will probably make this a throw away item. I've owned several different refrigerators over the years and they've all lasted well beyond 10 years. I definitely can't recommend buying anything from Whirlpool these days.

I'll never buy Whirlpool appliances again. I purchased all new kitchen appliances less than 3 years ago. The range had electrical issues within the first year, which was extremely scary. Thankfully because of the warranty they took it back, reimbursed me for it and I replaced it with a GE. I absolutely love the GE. The dish in the microwave never stays on its track in the center. It's quite an inconvenience to fix it almost daily. The top rack in the dishwasher constantly breaks, drops down on one side. Random parts from inside the dishwasher constantly come loose and fall off. But the worst of all....my refrigerator has broken down twice in 6 months from the same issue due to no fault of my own. To give some credit, Whirlpool fixed it out of warranty the first time. However the same issue happened 6 months later and they are expecting me to pay for it.

The repair company contracted with Whirlpool covers their parts under warranty, however different parts need to be ordered. I had to pay for these parts, a service call and labor. Whirlpool came out with a "service pointer" on this because they know it's a manufacturing defect but are refusing to cover the cost. The representative I spoke to was nasty and inconsiderate but sadly the manager was even worse. DON'T buy Whirlpool!!! I recommend GE, you'll be much happier. Worst customer service and support.

Updated on 05/17/2022: I initially wrote a review back in February about Whirlpool and just wanted to follow up. It's now four months later and I still have a broken refrigerator that broke when it was only a few months old. They continually made excuses and gave me the runaround and after 2 months, several visits from technicians and many phone calls and emails back and forth, they finally realized it was un-repairable and it needed to be replaced.

Fast forward another 2 months, I still have a broken refrigerator and don't have a replacement. I was told by the technician that the refrigerator is a very poor design and the only way it would work properly is if I never put anything on the top shelf. Really?? What's the purpose of the shelf then. Now I'm getting the same refrigerator again with the same poor design. DO NOT buy Whirlpool. I've lost hundreds of dollars worth of food and was only offered $50 for a refrigerator still under warranty. Their products are terrible and they do NOT care about their customers one bit.

Original Review: I have never had such a horrible experience in my life as I have with Whirlpool. Refrigerator ($2,500) broke within three months, and then broke again another two months later and hasn’t worked right since. They have the most horrible customer service, parts are on back order, I’ve had to throw away hundreds of dollars worth of food because everything keeps freezing but they do not care. Ice machine has been broken for over a month for the second time. They are the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Buyer beware. Do not buy anything from this company. Their products are the worst and they have zero customer service. Good luck if you buy something and it breaks. You might as well just buy a completely new appliance.

Lowes when I bought the fridge had over 400 of the same refrigerator in stock so why is it they couldn't had replaced it. Or if Whirlpool sells items on their own why didn't they just replace it. We have been going on 3 weeks without a fridge. With all of this said it didn't even last the 7 years they say they last for now. That is ridiculous when the last one lasted 20 years. We recently purchased a Whirlpool fridge, model WRT138FFDW and are very disappointed with a couple things. First of all, the refrigerator arrived with a broken shelf. Although it was no problem getting a replacement, we found out quickly that it is very hard to balance things on a wire shelf. Water bottles and the like fall over. It is completely our fault for not noticing when we purchased, but just giving you a heads up that it will be a pain for you. Secondly, the sound of the fridge is very loud. It truly is driving my wife crazy. When we called Whirlpool, we were told that if they come out to take a look and the part is not under warranty, we would be charged $129. It is a brand new refrigerator, how can some parts not be covered??!! On a positive note, it does keep things cold and the color white is nice. I will not be purchasing any more Whirlpool items for my home. Bad fridge and customer care!!
