The look of the Viking refrigerator made us purchase from them. The quality is good, but it showed up dented in the front so I had to have the door replaced. Then, the freezer had some issues, but it all met the warranty. The repair guy came out four times already, so it has been easy to work the issues out. They have also been easy to schedule. The dealer we went with was okay, too.

Our customers expect the very BEST and we work hard to ensure those expectations are met. Thank you for accepting nothing less; we appreciate YOU as a valued member of the Viking family. Should an issue arise, please contact Viking Customer Care at 888-845-4641, option 3. We will be glad to assist.

We had a Sub-Zero at our last house and we didn't need to go to that level for this house because of how long we'll probably be in it, and Viking was our next choice after Sub-Zero. I was gonna go buy a refrigerator thermometer 'cause I feel like the fridge part is not cooling as much as it seems. In the last three or four days, it seemed like when I got the milk out, it doesn't seem cold. But it doesn't seem like anything is spoiling, so it's not that severe. Other than that, it seems fine.

Thank you for allowing Viking into your home, we appreciate you as a customer. Please feel free to contact our customer care department at 888-845-4641 with any questions or concerns.

I have owned a Viking fridge for several years and in those years I have replaced the inside fridge drawers more than few times due to a defect on the manufacture. For no apparent reason they shatter, all of them!. I don't think a fridge this expensive should do that and has this happened to anyone else. Once I was told by someone in their site that they were working on repacking the manufacturer or material so they were definitely aware of this issue. However once again I need to have them replaced and now I am supposed to come out of pocket? I don't think so.

We purchased 3 Viking appliances (French door refrigerator, free standing range, dishwasher) in the middle of Sept. 2019 as part of their 3 for 2 deal at close to $10,000. Two of the appliances (range and refrigerator) had problems within the first week. After 2 visits from a technician from the store we purchased the appliances from, the stove seems to be working (for now). Not sure if the problem is really fixed, but hopeful. However, the refrigerator is still defective. The freezer door sagged, went out alignment and appears to be warped. That happened not more than a week after delivery.
A technician sent by the company we purchased the appliances from couldn't fix it, had no idea why it happened in the first place. We were told that a technician from Viking approved company would need to attempt a repair. If a repair wouldn't be possible, Viking would exchange the refrigerator. Unfortunately the technician sent by Viking on Monday couldn't fix the problem either, identify the problem or offer any solutions. After reaching out to Viking customer support today (they don't contact you) I was told that they would send another technician from the same company who "may have an idea how to fix it"! Really?
I choose to purchase Viking appliances because I expected good quality products and excellent customer service. Good customer service means that after delivering a defective appliance + 2 attempts to fix a new appliance - you exchange the appliance without asking your customer to take off more time from work to "try" to fix the problem. I am very disappointed and honestly very surprised that this is the customer service Viking provides.

3 or 4 times now (I've lost count!) the freezer drawer has broken after just opening it. Just from pulling it and opening it! The first time we dealt with it the Service company came to fix it. Well, it’s been "fixed" and it has broken in the same exact way with the same pieces breaking 3 other times!. We paid a lot of money for our Viking appliances, expecting a superior product. To be honest, viking products are GARBAGE! GO ELSEWHERE! We’ve had nothing but headaches. It is extremely disappointing and aggravating. And Viking customer service is non existent and not at all helpful. Do not buy a Viking appliance!

I’m sorry to say that this $7000+ refrigerator is the biggest piece of crap I ever owned as an appliance. I spent $1000 for custom panels too when I bought it in 2009 for my kitchen remodel. It broke so many times that it made me cry. I took care of the recalls with the door, had a new seal, had to change all the electronics on top, freezer always breaks and leaks, changed the fan too. I really want this replaced with something else. It’s all built-in too. Kitchen-aid made the same size in 36.” Wish I got that instead. Everything in my kitchen is KitchenAid and I’m quite pleased with it.

We bought an entire kitchen of Viking appliances (fridge, range, oven, microwave, etc.). By far the worst is the refrigerator. Every time the machine has broken down, we call Viking for their recommendation which always is to pay more than $1000 for replacement parts. We've done this now at least 4-5 times, but on today's visit the certified repairman told us it would be more than $1000 and he could not guarantee it would work (the immediately prior visit was 3 months ago and $1500 - on Viking's advice, naturally). Viking offered us 10% off on a new refrigerator - that would be less than we spent on the last repair. Today's Viking rep didn't seem to understand why I didn't think that was a good deal....hmmm..

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We deeply apologize for ALL areas of concern.
With the current unit being 15 years of age, it is possible to have functional failures due to normal wear and tear, specifically the sealed system components. These components are the heart of the unit.
After review of your request, Viking was able to offer a loyalty discount toward a new unit. If you would like to accept, please contact Viking Customer Care at 888-845-4641.

Don't spend that much money thinking that their products will work very well.

When I built my house in 2006, I put all Viking appliances in, without regard for price, because I thought I would have quality products for many years. The dishwasher was labeled as not worth fixing, after 4 years. The temperature control on the built-in oven is so sloppy and inaccurate that you are always guessing at what the actual temperature is. I was told even the new control knobs are that inaccurate.
The ice dispenser on the built-in side-by-side fridge dispenses ice to the floor almost every time it is used. I have to post instructions for use on the fridge when we are entertaining. The plastic pull-out ice drawer broke after the 4th year. The automatic ice maker stopped working completely in the 11th year and it took over a year to diagnose, get parts and repair the problem. Parts took 9 months to get. One positive, the meat drawer keeps the meat unbelievably fresh for extended amounts of time. No children here so the wear and tear is very minimal. I will never purchase another Viking product.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We deeply apologize for ALL areas of concern. Viking makes every effort to manufacture products of the highest quality. Unfortunately, in spite of all the precaution taken to ensure the reliability of our products, occasional part failures may occur.

The problem that I have is that the ice maker arm doesn't stop the ice tray from overfilling - when you open the door ice falls in the back and the arm drops -making additional ice, this causes the cubes to drop in the back of the freezer. There's not enough space to remove the fallen ice and it also causes issues closing the door. The refrigerator is very good otherwise. Looks like a built in.

We remodeled our kitchen eight years ago. We were so excited that our new kitchen was going to be an all Viking Professional kitchen, seven appliances. Unfortunately, our excitement was short lived. We began having issues, first, with our range. After several years of dealing with the oven we finally got those issues resolved. The refrigerator is just not well made. The crisping drawer has lost its plastic windows. The plastic butter keepers on the door have broken also. But we have had to have the ice maker repaired continually.
Currently, the water dispenser and ice bucket have broken again. We had our repairman find out how much it will cost to replace them. It's going to cost $1,600 to replace the parts. So we have decided not to put any more money into repairing this refrigerator since we could have bought a brand new one with the money we have already spent on repairs on this one. We also have a Viking Professional three zone wine refrigerator. The fans for the different zones continue to break. We are currently waiting on two fans because two zones' fans are broken. In fact, this time one fan broke and we ordered the fan. When it arrived it had broken in the mail.
In the meantime another fan has broken. So we are currently waiting on two new whole fan units. Our Viking Professional dishwasher's bottom rack only has one wheel because the others have broken. On the top rack there are folding panels on the sides that have broken so many times that we have just zip tied them on. And the door on the soap dispenser has broken off. I realize our appliances are eight years old but we have had problems with them from the very beginning. I also realize Viking is under new ownership. But, unfortunately, I've lost my faith in the brand.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We deeply apologize for ALL areas of concern. After careful review, this information has been forwarded to our escalation team. A team specialist will reach out to you within 7 business days.

The counter depth side by side refrigerator is great. The freezer is a drawer pull out from the bottom. The only issue we had was the ice maker kept freezing up due to a lack of insulation from the refrigerator above. They had to visit us 4 times to retrofit it and get it working. So far so good. The price was a bit higher than Samsung, but hopefully, it'll last longer. The design is great for us and it looks great. My wife is happy with it.

I've had 20 years of experience with Viking before and never had a problem with it. It's quality and they last a long time. But these last six years that I had wasn’t as good as the first time I had an experience with their refrigerator 20 years ago. The quality of it wasn’t as good and I had trouble with my installation. They didn’t really install it very well so I had to have them come back again. And I also had a defect in one my shelves that had to be returned. Other than that, I usually call the manufacturer in Mississippi if I need anything and they are the most excellent to deal with the troubleshoots. I can call them if I suspect that I have a problem and they’ve been the best. If you call the purchase department, they're very good at saying, “Well, I don't think that," "Maybe that’s not it," or "Yes. You can order this part," or "You can’t order this part." So, I depend on them a little bit more than a local person.

It's Viking's desire that you continue to enjoy the quality we've put in place for our customers. Thank You for your support.

We did a kitchen remodel and the person whom we were using to do the kitchen was the distributor for Viking. We got a Viking Refrigerator but then it woke me up last night as there is some sort of sensor that goes off and sets the alarm off. We have already had this sensor fixed once and now it's broken again. Additionally, the drawer doesn't seem to shut right. The way freezer drawers work should be that they slide really easily, regardless if there's a lot of weight. However, after two weeks of operation, our freezer drawer has slowed down to the point where we have to push it with effort to get it to close.
Viking has tried to have that fixed and nobody has been able to fix it. They contract with local repair people who have been very responsive. These repair people have addressed the issues, as reported but then there's still some sort of sensor that fails. The problem wasn't too bad when the sensor was going off at 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM. However, it has been going off at 3:22 in the morning and it's annoying. There are beeping sounds coming from the kitchen that's surrounded by hardwood floors. The techs who have come have replaced several pieces the last time they came out. The problem with the sensor stopped for two or three weeks after that but then started again.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We deeply apologize for all areas of concern. Viking was able to remedy this situation by replacing your refrigerator. While we do not anticipate any further service, please reach out to Viking should the need arise.

We were doing a complete remodel of our kitchen, so I was looking at all the appliances for the kitchen. I've done remodels of kitchens for five or six years and I've always used Sub-Zero but we decided to try how Viking would work out. We liked the look, the overall aesthetics, and quality of it and the pricing was a big thing, too. There seemed to be a good overall package deal with the broad suite of Viking appliances. What we ended up doing was our entire kitchen is all Viking appliances. The refrigerator has been good so far. The lighting and design are good and I like the easy closing of drawers which is kind of nice. Also, the ability of not to have to do the cleaning of the vents and things was an important feature.

Viking makes every effort to listen and hear what our customer's want, which is our foundation for newer and improved models. Thank you for being a part of what Viking is building.

We inherited our Viking refrigerator when we bought our house. I heard that Viking was a sort of a higher-end product. When we knew the house had Viking products in it, that spoke well to us. We've had our fridge for about two years now and I like it. It works really well and I'm pleased. But we had this unfortunate experience at outset with repairs that needed to be made for the fridge to be at my standard because I try to keep things really nicely.
I'm pretty careful with things. The previous owner, on the other hand, didn’t take good care of things. He broke the handle that fitted into the fridge and we paid to get that done. The drawer at the bottom of the fridge didn’t have a cover on it which I couldn’t believe. We had that one replaced. The people at Priority Appliances in Vancouver helped us out. They told us how to remove the grill and keep it clean underneath. I get weary of parts breaking and the cost of repairing them. The gasket that goes around to keep the door closed keeps ripping. We replaced it once and I don’t wanna replace it again for another couple of hundred dollars.I hope our Viking last us a long time. It is much better than my LG fridge that I had before.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know your experience. When you pay for something no matter the cost you SHOULD take care of it (it sounds like you do just that) you'll enjoy your purchase longer. We appreciate you keeping the Viking brand inside your home.

I had a Sub-Zero for about 25 years and it was slowly dying. I went to Gringer's which is a lower-east side appliance store that has been around for many years. I was shopping for a refrigerator. The space that I had in my kitchen would only take a 24-inch depth refrigerator. I asked the store people if they could help me in figuring out what to do. They had floor models and the Sub-Zero that there was too expensive. I didn't think that I would be able to afford a new Sub-Zero refrigerator but I just wanted to price things out.
They had this Viking and it was opened on the right side and you can change the door opening. That was the floor model. The salesman there was friendly and happy. He said that anything made in the United States was gonna be 10 times better than any of the models of anything else out there. I bought the Viking refrigerator because it was a floor model and I was able to negotiate with the guy that if I would have the full warranty, it would be three years even though the model was on the floor for close to a year. I got the extended insurance so it’s insured for eight years. I never bought anything off the floor. I really felt like I was taking a chance and was hoping that the thing wouldn't break as soon as the delivery guy left.
I'm in a brownstone house in Brooklyn and it’s a 150-year-old house. Things are a little lopsided. The guy from Gringer's came for the installation and he didn't install the fridge so that it was level. Because of this, I had an issue with the fridge. The system failed six months ago. I came down one morning, opened the refrigerator, got the milk out for my tea and I noticed that there seemed to be beads of water in the freezer. I opened it and it was like half-frozen. I contacted the place where I bought the refrigerator because it was just two years since I bought the refrigerator so it was still on the original warranty. They sent somebody out. But it took a while because they were very busy.
When the guy came out, he looked at it and he said the refrigerator wasn't broken but it had to be leveled. They made another appointment and the refrigerator was leveled which was really nice. The people who installed the fridge then came back. Gringer said to the insurance company to fix the fridge then bill them. Other than that, the refrigerator has been great. It’s a big fridge that's probably too big even for one person, which I am now in the house. I would highly recommend Viking. I love the fridge. It keeps everything really cold and I don't adjust the temperature. I can see that the temperature is stable each time I open the refrigerator door. There’s also enough space in the freezer. Everything, I feel, is good quality and it’s gonna last maybe longer than me.

We are certain your days will turn into many years of experiencing the immeasurable quality and service Viking offers through our products. Thank you for being part of the family.

Replaced an existing 36" built in Viking with the same size ($7700.00). Didn't want to repair the wood molding to fit a non-built in unit. One year, both Crisper drawers (middle shelves) are cracked in front. Both have vertical cracks in the middle of the drawers. Doesn't affect the operation, but it is at eye-level to remind you every time you open the door. I did save the shelves/drawers from the old removed Viking unit. Unfortunately, I only have one spare shelf left because the Wife has sold my spares to other unfortunate Viking Customers. Oh, and the same issue as everyone else with the Ice Maker; if you don't monitor the amount in the bin and shut-off the arm, every time you open the freezer door ice falls out the bin into the back of the freezer. Doubt I will purchase $180.00 drawers because of cracks.

Thank you for letting us know that while the main function of the unit is working as designed; you're experiencing an issue with the drawers. We appreciate your comments, we'll continue working hard in manufacturing quality products and maintain the warranties as well.

I bought a house with a Viking refrigerator in it and since they have a good reputation, we bought a new one to replace the old Viking fridge. The dealer wasn't completely honest though. They said the fridge was a year old and the service person let us know that it's older than that. We got a floor model and when it was installed, it wasn't installed completely, so it leaked into the bedroom downstairs. When the service technician came in a couple of days ago, he found that there was a connector at the top of the fridge that wasn't connected, so the shut-off for water overflow was never turned on and the pan under the fridge was overflowing and leaking into the bedroom downstairs. Still, it's a nice fridge and we like it, including the look.

We are very happy to have you as a part of the Viking family. While we're sorry to hear of the installation issue/s, we thank you for trusting in our brand and hope you'll enjoy your unit for many years.

My wife had been doing some research on some high-end appliances and we found our Viking refrigerator at Famous Tate appliance store. We liked the performance and cost. It wasn't as much as a Sub-Zero freezer but it was still one of the higher end refrigerators that was reasonably priced at that time. There was also some kind of package deal. We bought a Viking range along with the Viking refrigerator and the Viking dishwasher for free. It was a good deal for the three of them.
Overall, we're happy with our refrigerator and it's pretty good. In particular, the ice maker was great. But it doesn't work anymore. It's been a little over a year and the line keeps freezing up. I had people out to repair it one time but it just went back to the same thing. The dealer won't fix it. It's a pain in the butt because we paid thousands of dollars for a refrigerator and the ice maker doesn't work. It looks nice though. The refrigerator works fine. The lighting is nice in the inside and the control panel works well.
Another thing with the dealer is that it seems like nobody knows what anybody else is talking about. But that's a lot of times in any customer service department. You talk with somebody in customer service who authorizes a new filter to be sent out then somebody in the parts department says you have to pay for the filter. It's just kinda running back and forth. It took about two months to get a part that should have been delivered in about 10 days.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your comments on Viking as a whole. We do apologize for issues you've addressed and trust things have been resolved accordingly.

I contacted customer service and a technician came to house. After consulting Viking directly it was found that this is a known problem and there is no fix for our model. I was told I need to lift the ice handle to stop making ice and put it down again when I need more. Can’t believe I have to make my own ice for a fridge that cost close to $10,000! The rep I purchased the fridge from contacted Viking to see if I could return and the answer was NO! Very disappointed!

It is quite dis-heartening to hear the issue you're experiencing with your unit. It is NOT our intent for any of our customer to have anything less than a positive view with Viking. I'd like to thank you for trusting our brand.

We looked around at different places when we needed to buy another built-in refrigerator. Viking's reputation wasn't that great, but I thought I would take a gamble on it because I was told that they improved the product a lot. But what really sold me was that I liked the space on the refrigerator door - the little stuff on the door for condiments. Some of the other refrigerators did not have that. With the refrigerator, you don't have to change the filter. It has some kind of purification system on it. We've had the refrigerator for about six months now and so far so good. It fits my needs. I haven't had any complaints and I'm hoping it continues that way.
But I don't think I would be going back to the dealership. At first, they were nice then they kept on saying that the refrigerator was delivered then it wasn't delivered then it was delivered. I got a little bit angry at the gentleman on the phone. I also wanted an extended warranty and he said he was gonna send me the information but he never did. There were just follow-up issues.

Thank you for your comments in letting us know too of your experience with the dealer. It is important for our customers to have an all around pleasurable experience. We are so happy to have you on board as part of the Viking family.

I've always heard Viking was the best and I'm happy with my Viking fridge. But I've had to have it serviced a few times already. The fans inside keep freezing up. I've had to have all the warranty work done twice already and I don’t even think I've been in this house three years yet. The first time they came out, they had to replace the fans and the second time, all of them were frozen up. But the tech was able to service the fans and got it working again. I'm also happy with the customer service that the guy that I bought the appliances from is giving me. He puts me right on top of the list, takes care of me and keeps me up and running again. It is a little bit of a disappointment. I paid almost $18,000 but the guys from Certified Appliance were good.

Viking is very pleased you've chosen our brand to place in your home. Thank you for your comments, we hope ALL has been worked out and you're in the midst of enjoying your unit.

We were looking for a new kitchen. We went and looked at a lot of the upper-level kitchen appliances. We also looked at a number of different styles and brands, and we decided we really liked the Viking oven with the French doors. That’s where we based our whole purchase on. We took the next step that’s why we went with everything else.
I love my Viking refrigerator and Viking oven. We cook a lot of fish and we also have the steamer microwave. That was another reason for our purchase as well. We like that. Everything’s been great. The only thing we’re not crazy about is the dishwasher. We’ve had it for over a year and the red light that shines from the bottom that lets you know that it’s running is out.
It is also not easy to load. There's not enough room on the top rack to load anything. If you have the large Tervis glasses, you can’t go wash it in the dishwasher because it’s not tall enough. The only place you can actually put anything tall is on the outside just where it is a little bit lower because that little rack with the silverware tray on the top really obstructs it. We’ve removed the rack but the framing for it is still there. It’s the design of it, unfortunately. Another issue that we have that continues to pop up is the cooktop. It has these brackets that hold it in place and you screw them in. It keeps loosening up and the whole cooktop slides around. The contractor sent somebody out and they tightened it back up, but it’s definitely not good. It just seems to loosen up.

Thank you for allowing Viking to be a part of your fresh start. We take pride and care in every product we manufacture and are grateful to you as our customer.

My refrigerator has leaked for 10 months. I have a side-by-side freezer and refrigerator each freestanding unit, but they are mounted in together. My freezer was reinstalled crooked, and now I’m waiting to hear back from Viking to get it adjusted and installed correctly. I first reported the incident with my original refrigerator in July of 2018. It took me 10 months and 11 service calls to get my unit replaced, and many windows of times waiting for someone to come and service it as recent as yesterday because my Viking refrigerator and my Viking freezer had two different badges on them -- the tag on it that says Viking.
One says Viking Professional, and it’s 2x4 inches large, and the other one is 1 inch by 2, 3 inches wide, so they don't match. They sent someone out to fix the badges, and the repairperson was not able to because of the badge that was sent. So, I took time out of my day to be home during my service window, only for him to tell me, “Sorry, I can’t do anything for you. You’ll have to call again.” I would tell others to buy a Sub-Zero instead.

Thank you for letting us know of your experience. We deeply apologize for ALL areas of concern. After careful review this has been forwarded to our escalation team-someone from there should reach out to you within 7 business days.

My husband wanted a Viking Refrigerator so we bought and paid for it. Best Buy brought and installed it. But they left me with a noise as if I was standing on a runway and an airplane is operating on it. We could not turn on the TV and hear it. We had to shut off all the doors, and even then, we heard it. It was horrible. I called the dealer three times to come. They came, claimed that they fixed it, but they fixed it for two seconds and left. On the third time, I lost them completely and they wouldn’t come back to fix it so I called Best Buy and spoke to everybody there.
They transferred me to the Viking office. Some lady said they can send me a repairman, but not till next week. I told her that they have to send somebody right away, but they did not. The day went by and I couldn’t get anybody because it was already evening. I called them the next morning and they finally had somebody from Viking called me. He found a third party and they came. But they left me with a wire hanging into the fan. It was when they transferred it, and that made the noise. At this point, I had a lemon because the fan was damaged.
At Best Buy, even the person who sold it told me that his hands were tied and can’t do anything. The manager who came back from vacation was supposed to call me to tell me that they were exchanging the refrigerator, never called me. I had to do everything myself and went back to the store. They said I can choose something else. I chose the JennAir and I wanted to upgrade already. They said that they would come towards me, but I have to pay close to $500 more. I thought about it and calculated it. I also spoke to my son-in-law who just investigated which refrigerator was the best. He said that as long as I have to pay the difference, I might as well pay a little more and get the Sub-Zero.
At the headquarters, Lionel was the only guy who was very nice. I talked to him and he called me back the next morning. He asked me what was my decision and I told him to pick the Viking ref up and take it out of here. They left me with a hole for two days and some of my food got spoiled. I got my Sub-Zero on the third day, and we are so happy we made the change. The experience with Viking was a nightmare. We were very unhappy and so aggravated. I also think that Best Buy was at fault here, and their installers. I will never buy one more item from them. But I have a Viking stove and I've had it for more than 28 years. I've been very happy with it.

Viking is very unhappy to hear your experience with the Dealer was less than what it should have been. We are happy though to know your Viking Stove is maintaining. Thank you for attempting consistency and trusting in our brand.

When we decided to purchase a new fridge, there were only a couple of choices - GE, Sub-zero and Viking, so I went with the better choice. We also got a Viking dishwasher, stove and hood, and so far, they have been okay. But we had a problem with the freezer down below. Someone came and fixed it, but it took a long time. Other than that, it's still in good shape and its doors are nice. I've had other brands and the Viking's quality seems okay. I would've preferred to have a mostly full refrigerator and a small freezer, and didn't wanna have one with a freezer below because the ice maker was also below, and I don't freeze a lot of stuff. But this particular Viking fridge came like that.

My contractor sold the products of Viking so we chose them. But we hate the fridge and we're a little disappointed that we went with Viking. The fridge model that we got does not have an in-door ice maker. We hate that the ice gets everywhere in the ice maker in the freezer, and it even gets underneath and falls out. That's my biggest complaint, but I have no other complaints about the rest of the fridge and it's mostly just the ice situation. But I definitely would not recommend Viking.

I moved into a house that has Viking. The Viking ref is 10 years old and its quality is okay, but I'm not torn up about it. The finish on the handle was coming off. I tried to call to Viking to find out how I could replace that but the way the rep handled the situation was not overly helpful. It seems like the whole door has to be replaced. I also called about the broken meat saver cover and found out that I can't replace it without replacing the whole drawer, which was quite expensive so I just glued it back together.

We bought a home a year ago. It’s not a brand new home and we needed to update its kitchen. We liked to cook, so we were looking for some of the well-known brands. I have a younger sister that's a chef, so she told us about the usual Viking, Wolf, Sub-zero, Cove kinda thing and we began to research those brands as we were preparing to replace the appliances in our kitchen. The Viking refrigerator seems like a nice durable unit. I have noticed the difference from a GE or a KitchenAid in here before. It seems to preserve the food longer as they claim with the freshness system, preventing spoilage. So, that was quite noticeable.
It does seem like the fans run a lot although one of the installers explained to me that there are several fans in there to balance temperature and things like that, but I'm never sure which one's going so I'm never sure if this thing is running all the time or just frequently. We had to put a side by side built-in in because of the way the kitchen's designed and there really wasn’t, at least at the time, an option to have the water and ice dispenser together. It does have the ice dispenser, but there really wasn’t any option for the filtered water which would have been nice. And even though it does make the ice, there is no water filter in the fridge itself which isn't really a concern. We have good water in the community, but for constructive feedback, it'd be nice to have that option even if you're just making ice.
The representatives were very helpful. I worked with Grand Appliance for the refrigerator. And they had a unit that was ordered for a job and then the customer changed their mind and went with a French-door unit, so they gave me a nice deal on this one since it was still brand new and just misordered. But they did a nice job with that in getting it here and installing it. So, that part went well. I did have one follow up because right after it was installed, one of the little pins that keep the door from swinging had broke off and I called Viking and since it has only been a few days, they sent someone right out to replace that little pin. I would recommend Viking Refrigerator. It's a high quality product.

I have some problems with the Viking Refrigerator that we got. The unit functions well, but I have problems in the way it is laid out. It seemed very stripped down. The crisper drawer is not divided, it is just one big drawer that is supposed to hold both fruit and vegetables. That was surprising. Fruits and vegetables require different temperatures and different humidities. There wasn’t any delicatessen or cheese drawer too. The fridge is also very high so that the taller shelves were not accessible. I called Viking to find out how I could better accessorize the refrigerator, and there didn't seem to be any answer to that and apparently, for this model, there are no Viking accessories available.

Thank you for advising how pleased you are with the overall function of your Viking. It's a bit hard to hear the Viking you chose does NOT quite fit your needs, please keep in mind Viking carries a variety of refrigeration models to fit personal desires. Thank you so much for your comments.

Viking Professional Series Refrigerator - nothing but problems. We have had a problem with the doors ever since we got it. There is a part that catches the door so that it doesn't swing all the way open. It has broken two times on the refrigerator side and once on the freezer side. The company has said that we have too much "stuff" in the door which is ridiculous considering we bought the "high end" refrigerator and we put the normal stuff you would expect in a door. We have never had this problem before with any of our refrigerators. We go out of warranty in June and then if it breaks again this is their policy: $120 to access damage and then a $180 / hr labor fee plus the cost of the part - regardless of the fact this problem started when we received the unit. We will NEVER buy one of these again. Buy Sub-Zero! They have it dialed in. Viking does not and is very difficult to work with.

Thank you for letting us know of your experience. We deeply apologize for ALL areas of concern. In careful review we're pleased however, to see issues have been addressed with the unit being serviced. Plus, Viking gave us 25% off for both units if we went with them again and that heavily influenced our decision to stay with them. They also paid for the shipping but we had to pay for the installation. The installer was a company that Viking recommended and their guy was on time. We were doing a remodel and we wanted something a little higher end. We bought our Viking refrigerator at Best Buy as we had a significant number of credit card reward points and we went with the Best Buy cards. We bought it before our remodel and we didn’t take it out of the storage until around early spring in 2018. We had significant problems with it over the summer and we had the technician out at least seven times. It was still under warranty at the time and what was happening was the refrigerator side of it would never be at the set point. Oftentimes, it was at 45.
The tech was out to try different things and replace the electrical panels. By the last time, they ended up replacing the entire electrical panel and it has been okay since then. It still is not perfect though, and it seems to be hit or miss. If the set point is supposed to be at 38, it struggles to get a 38 on the refrigerator side. I like the refrigerator, nevertheless. It is prominent and it sits really well in our kitchen. At the same time, we were forced with the contractor company because they are the ones who handle the warranty. As long as it is under warranty, we have to go with them. We would wait for a significant period of time for the parts to come in and it got to be a really long, laborious process.
The guy with the refrigeration company would complain that there were changes going on at Viking, where the warehouses were, and it was hard to get parts. It was frustrating when we had already invested on a Viking refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and range. I couldn’t just call Viking and say, “Look, replace this thing,” because we had to go with a particular company to do the repair. This issue started in May or early June and we were still dealing with it by the end of July. On one hand, there are things about the Viking refrigerator that I really like. I like the way it looks in my kitchen, and the freezer is working fine. On the other hand, the refrigerator and the whole repair and problem-solving process seem really cumbersome. Why did it take three months to resolve? I am dissatisfied with that.

My sister had a Viking refrigerator and I got myself one but I have had nothing but issues. Something happened right away to the first unit I received. I fought with Viking for over a year and a half about it. They kept having repair people come in to fix stuff but nothing worked. I had to buy a new unit that they supposedly gave me a 50% discount on. Then, when the unit got in, it was dented. It took them four months to reorder and fix the part. Then, the icemaker didn’t work, and I lived without that, on a brand-new fridge for another four months.
Where I live, there is only one company that could fix a Viking. They don’t have enough people and that meant that every time they order something, it took weeks to get somebody out here. That company doesn't have the workers involved. There's not enough support or backup people that can fix these things and nobody thinks about that. When you buy a product, the service department has to come from another state to fix it. Then, if that company wasn’t good, you’re stuck at their mercy. They keep taking their time and they don’t know what they’re doing. So, I’m not happy at all. I would never buy another.

I was looking at the Viking refrigerator and it was fit for what I wanted it for. It was also better priced than most of the other commercial units, so I decided to purchase it. I have it in my home for a year in May now and it's a good refrigerator. But I had problems with it and I had technicians out here at least four times to work on it.
I had a tech out twice for the icemaker when it wasn't working. Something had burned out in there so they had to come and replace that. From what I could tell, these repairmen were not familiar with these products, so they were not too sure. They were constantly making phone calls asking someone else how to do things but most of all, it was like some of these things were failing inside of the refrigerator. I also had a problem with the water dispenser. The rubber over it was broken and Viking shipped one part out. Then the repairman was out for that but it still didn’t work properly. So now, I’ve been waiting for this thing to be fixed and it has been three months.
Aside from that, the BlueZone bulb burned out when it should not be going out after only seven months. I didn’t even have the refrigerator for a year. So, I had to buy another bulb which was a hundred bucks. Then, the refrigerator kept beeping after I replaced the BlueZone bulb, so I had to call somebody to come out to turn off this annoying beep. It was weird.
All in all, Viking hasn't fine-tuned some of the little things on their product and everything there needs to be looked at. Even the replacement parts weren't fitting and I don’t understand it. It’s also a little disappointing. I haven’t even paid the thing off and I’ve had the service guy five times out. They need to care more about customer service, too. The refrigerator is under a three-year manufacturer’s warranty but they wouldn’t replace the bulb. First, they told me that they didn’t have the bulb. So, I got the bulb at no cost. Then I didn’t hear anything, so I followed up with them and they said that I had to go back to my dealer, buy the bulb from them, and let them come and install it. Not only that, when I called Viking, they didn’t have the bulb in stock and I had to wait four months for someone to get this stupid bulb in stock. But Viking sells an $11,000 refrigerator, so they gotta have the replacement parts.

I've known about Viking forever and as a matter of fact, the brother of one of my friends in Iowa used to be a distributor for Viking. I had a GE Profile that broke down after about five years and I was not about to put any money into it, so I thought I'd invest in a Viking. I've dealt with the dealer, Abt, before for other things and I got my Viking refrigerator from them. The guys who installed it were absolutely wonderful and they tried not to scratch floors. They did a good job and it was first class as far as installation.
While the water for the GE was hooked up with plastic, the Viking has a nice metal flexible pipe. Howeve, the bottom drawer broke apart when I pulled it out. A gentleman came out, looked at it, and said that they'll send me a new one. They sent another drawer out and so that was no problem. Another thing also is that every time I looked at the temperature on the GE, it was the same temperature on my little thermometer. On the Viking, the temperature jumps around so it does things differently. Still, it runs quite a bit more than my GE ran.

It is a pleasure to know-change has worked in your favor. Viking appreciates you and the faith you've placed in us. Thank you.

Insulation is saturated and has been dripping for at least a couple of years in what is now a 6-year-old refrigerator. Viking said it couldn't be repaired and that the problem was caused by South Florida's humidity. Come on. Viking is manufactured in humid Mississippi! Viking offered a "special replacement discount" of 20% for a limited time. We are talking about several thousand dollars here. Still living with this miserable and annoying problem. Time to vent our displeasure. Model VIRB364RSS - Cost of this 36" all refrigerator unit was $4,122.00 in 2013. P.s. We also own a Viking all-freezer, induction cooktop, thermal convection wall oven, microwave and warming drawer. Viking's response to what was obviously a defective product---disheartening and weak.

We are so sorry for your displeasure. A customer care advocate will be contacting you shortly to get more details from you.

We purchased a house that had a Viking refrigerator and we didn’t realize the value of the appliance. When it broke and wasn’t cooling in the freezer, we looked and it cost $9,000 to replace, which was a shock. I would never buy a $9,000 refrigerator unless it was to match one that broke and it wouldn't have been my first choice by any means. I don’t think I would've ever bought a Viking appliance on purpose. Plus, there's nothing better about the refrigerator and it's small for its size.
We called a tech from Johnson Service last October and somebody came out. He said that it needed either an inverter or a compressor. One was gonna be 600 bucks and the other one could cost a couple of thousand dollars. Then he took off and we didn’t hear anything from anybody for a couple of months. We would call and ask if somebody was gonna come here and fix our fridge and they would say that they were still waiting on a part. That went on for a couple of weeks. We went through Thanksgiving and Christmas without a refrigerator. We were calling them once a week to ask for an update. They said that the refrigerator was an expired model that Viking doesn't make anymore and that they had to make a whole new kit for the refrigerator, which was what was taking time.
Finally, after Christmas, I called Viking directly and asked what the heck was going on. The lady said that that was the first she had heard about it, even though they were the ones that had initially referred me to call Johnson Service. The lady was helpful though. She got on the phone and started making calls to Johnson herself. The next day, I got a call from Johnson and they said that Viking freed up one of the parts needed and that they would be able to get over here in a couple of days to fix the refrigerator. A couple of days went by, but we still hadn't heard from them. Then finally, a week or so later, we got it fixed. It took 10 weeks to get the refrigerator fixed and we didn't get a deal. It still cost $650 to fix it. It was an awful experience. I would never deal with the refrigerator again. I would work with local stuff that I can get people to fix easier.

I wanted to get a Viking Refrigerator for its quality. I like the brand, that's why I purchased a second refrigerator. But I'm not happy with the grid up top. When I got the first refrigerator, the grid was higher and the height of the cabinet above the fridge was based on that grid. But now this one is lower, so now I can see a gap between the cabinet and the top of the fridge. Their quality is just not as good as it used to be. I still like it, but I'm not happy with the way they changed things. The fridge has the same features and size as the first one. But I liked the way the light didn't dim on and off when I open the fridge. Its drawers and cooler are also different and better.
In terms of my experience with the Viking dealer, I’ve dealt with them in the past and I purchased my baking products from them originally. I would have been happy if they were more knowledgeable about the grid on the new fridge. I feel like it ruined my kitchen. I designed the original kitchen around my appliances so it doesn’t make sense to me why they would shorten the grid up top. My experience with the Viking Refrigerator would be nicer if it lasted more than 10 years for that amount of money. Other than that, it was fine.

Thank you for being such a loyal Viking customer. I apologize the height is NOT to your liking, your response is well noted.

If you are considering a Viking appliance RUN away as fast as you can! This is the 3rd built in refrigerator/freezer I’ve had installed and what a nightmare it’s been working with the Viking company! Awful to say the least. This 3rd built in was installed 5 years ago and now both voltage boards have died. The serviceman just told me that one of the boards, the main one that runs everything, is on back order! Oh how I’ve been down this road before with Viking when they installed the 2nd piece of crap that did the exact same thing but only after 2 months of having it installed.
It took over 3 months of pulling my hair out before I had a refrigerator/freezer that worked. Because that same board was on back order and they didn’t know when it would be available and because it was under warranty I demanded a new refrigerator/freezer as that’s why a 3rd one was installed. I wrote the company explaining all the problems and grief I went through and asked for an extended warranty. I received a letter from Viking telling how sorry they were about all the problems but SORRY we cannot extend the warranty. I received NO compensation from this ** hole of a company! They truly DON’T care about their customers!!! Run I say, RUN. Can’t wait to see how long it will take before I have a working refrigerator/freezer again!

It would take days to fully explain all of the trouble we've had with our Viking refrigerator and freezer. They are both about five years old and have been nothing but trouble. The first freezer was deemed a lemon and was replaced just before we purchased our home. The replacement freezer has never worked properly. Over the past year, I have had the local repair company at my home about a dozen times. My children are familiar with the man. They greet him by name; we even got him a Christmas gift! That is how familiar we are with the repairman.
Last March, the refrigerator stopped working. It took over a week just to have someone come and diagnose the issue. Then, the part we needed was on back order. We were without a refrigerator for over a month. As a wife and a mother of two young children, you can imagine the problems this caused. Once it was repaired, it worked for a few months, until we began having issues again in the summertime.
We also had an ongoing issue with the freezer developing a sheet of ice on the back wall. On December 18, 2018, we had the repairman come for the issue with the ice in the freezer (I think this was his fourth time coming for that particular issue), as well as an issue with the refrigerator developing a sheet of ice behind the drawers. Each time we have one problem repaired, a new one comes up.
I actually called Viking Customer Service and spoke in detail with a representative on February 12th. I explained that we had been without a refrigerator since December (in addition to the ice developing, there was another issue that caused the refrigerator to stop cooling). The part needed to repair this problem was on backorder. She was very kind and helpful and assured me she would return my call within 48 hours. I have yet to hear back from her.
The cost to replace the refrigerator and freezer is over $20k. The fact that we have an appliance that is that expensive and it rarely functions properly is absolutely ridiculous. I would happily purchase another brand, but nothing is the same size as the Viking. Therefore, we're looking at having to renovate our kitchen and change the cabinets to accommodate a new refrigerator and freezer. I had a sliver of hope after speaking to the customer service representative, but now I know that was too good to be true. Not only are the Viking products unreliable, they don't care about the consumer.
I have never been so dissatisfied with a product or a company. I have spent countless hours on the phone with the repair company and days at home waiting on service. I've wasted money on the repairs, not to mention the obscene amount of food, both refrigerated and frozen, that I've had to throw away. I honestly cannot believe they are able to get away with selling these products.

My husband and I remodeled and bought the Professional side by side in 2006. We had it replaced due to a dent in it and the ice machine not working in 2008 by warranty. The replacement had issues too. We have replaced the ice container a couple of times for $300 ea. Now it's broken and it will cost $500. We noticed that there were 2 screws that are missing. It has been worked on but not sure if it was factory or labor issue. Plus water dispenser doesn't work. That’s been worked on too. Recently cleaning the fridge out, I noticed cracks on the inside of the door unit. The drawers are all broken. We replaced a couple of them about two years ago for $100 ea. Broken again. The fridge still works, but the breakage is not good.
We had a refrigerator for over 20 yrs prior to this that still worked and had no problems. Buyers remorse? Probably. I have pictures showing the issuer cracks inside of the unit. By the way, my hubby and I are senior citizens and take care of our things. I would love to be able to send my concerns to the company with pictures.

We got a Viking refrigerator that was a brand new floor model even though I’m a die-hard Sub-Zero girl and I only like Sub-Zero. If I would have paid about $10,000, then I wouldn’t have been super thrilled. Then during delivery, we got a leaking seal on the freezer that we needed to deal with. But I haven’t dealt with that yet and I’m assuming that’s under warranty. Also, if they were gonna sell a $10,000 fridge, then they have to make sure that it has dual compressors where one gets the fridge and the freezer. So while I’m not super happy with the Viking, its overall quality of the refrigeration is good. My produce seems to keep not quite as long as the Sub-Zero but the Viking is better than a standard refrigerator one buys at Home Depot. The lighting is also very bright and good.

I am not really thrilled with Viking Refrigerators. This is the third Viking refrigerator we've been through. The last one that we had to have replaced, it went bad between year two and year three. And a refrigerator as expensive as Viking should not be going out after year two. I'm also a little concerned about the warranty now being down to two years when we got the last one replaced.
Additionally, it usually would take them about a year of countless repairs before they get to a point where everybody is willing to utilize the warranty and replace it when it becomes obvious to them that it's not repairable. But, I have to credit them for standing behind their warranty. The technician they've sent was excellent, as well. Clinton was out to our house over 11 times. He was very pleasant to work with and very helpful. Still, I would never recommend a Viking refrigerator to anybody.

I saw the Viking refrigerator in the store and I liked the way it looked. I liked the way the handles were. It pretty much had straight lines. We've had it for a couple of months now and we love everything about it. It’s the first time we've had a bottom freezer. Before, we had a side-to-side which my wife and I both hated. Because with the side-to-side, at least at the time that we had it, you couldn't even get a pizza a box in there.
Although there was an issue with the trim kit that we got, I cannot brag enough about Viking. When I called to report that problem, they put me in touch with the right person right from the very beginning. I took pictures of it and sent it to them then they looked at it and got right back to me. They said, “Guess what? You found something we didn’t know about. We actually have a problem with the manufacturing and so we’ll get it corrected." He said they would get another one sent right out to me and he did. Even after I got it, I got a phone call, following up, to make sure that we got it. They could not have been better.

Viking makes every effort to listen and hear what our customer's want, which is our foundation for newer and improved models. Thank you.

I own a heat and air company so we work on these refrigerator units and Viking is a middle-grade nice refrigerator. Then other brands, like Sub-Zero, have two pieces of refrigeration. They have a separate unit for a freezer. So I chose Viking. Besides, the floor-plan price for this unit was $7,500. I was going there thinking I was gonna spend about $17,000. But I bought this from Plugs and although this one is normally $12,000, the guy there said he would sell it to me for 7,500 bucks. I told him I didn't want a year-old model. I wanted to have a new one and he said that it was a brand new model. But I later found out that it was a year- or two-year-old unit sitting on the floor. The way it was sold to me is my only problem. But as far as the unit itself, it’s fine. I like everything about it.
When we had a water leak problem, I had my son go look at it and it was bad water inlet valve. It was no big deal. But when I called the factory, they said that it was not under warranty. I told them that it was though. It was brand new and it had not been in the house for four weeks at the time. It took three months but I finally got a water inlet valve. The salesman from Plugs got involved with his Viking representative so he got it for me. However, if I have a problem tomorrow, what’s gonna happen with my warranty? I gotta call that dude back now at Plugs and ask about that. But now, I’m having a problem with everything freezing on the front shelf. It’s just on the top shelf though, where the air blows out of the evaporator. And they have a fix and it doesn’t cost me anything. I recently found out Viking actually makes a piece of duct, that I just need to call in the factory to get.

While I'm taken back at the way you say this was presented to you, I'm happy to hear overall you are content. Thank you.

Viking sent somebody out and the guy couldn’t come out until after I had to go to work. Although the door was replaced and it's perfect, the noise is still there. The guy told my wife that it was Freon running through the tubes, and I don’t know if it’s even that. It could be that it’s water running through my heating system, but I never heard it before. My heating system makes noise, but the plugs for the heater are in the wall behind the refrigerator. I never heard that sound until our refrigerator was installed and I'm not satisfied. I've always had Viking in every appliance in my house. But when my refrigerator stopped all the way out, the technicians kept coming out to fix it. They came, looked at the problem and then they had to go back to get a part. I had to wait for another two to four weeks for it to come down to put in. And then another couple of weeks later, the refrigerator would quit again. So then, they had to come back two weeks later. They were down to replacing everything. Despite that, the technicians were great and I had no problems once they came out. It was just not getting the part that dragged it out because they only service my part of the town every two weeks.
But when my husband stepped in, Viking finally gave me a new refrigerator. I was very disappointed that it took me probably half a year to get this issue resolved. It was my mistake and looking back, I probably wouldn't do Viking again even though they finally gave me a new refrigerator. We have known for years that Viking a quality appliance, and we chose to go with them because of the name recognition. We also wanted a good quality product. However, there have been some hiccups. One of the refrigerator doors was damaged during the installation. It was installed a couple of weeks before we moved in, and that was when I notified them right away. They came to replace it in about three to four weeks after we moved in. And so, a new one was ordered, but the new one was worse than the one we had on, so we are still waiting on that. A couple of weeks back, I opened the refrigerator door and one of the parts, the locking mechanism to make sure that it does not open all the way broke off. I did not slam it open. It is like a cast metal part, so I'm thinking that there had to be a crack or something in there. Fortunately, it is covered under warranty, but if it had not been, that would have been a very disappointing month and a half usage.
I did my research, kind of on my own. We were to go through Builders Supply warehouse. Their prices were extremely marked up compared to what I could go get it from Pacific Sales. I had to show them documentation about the rebates and things that were going on, and I was willing to just buy the appliances myself and have them installed after the house was done. But the builder did not want that. So, basically, I was stuck at having to pay thousands more for the same product. That was frustrating. In the initial installation, they had one gentleman and his son installing it. I think that was very poor planning because that was a $10,000 refrigerator that was wobbling and coming off the trailer. He was also struggling to get it off the trailer, It was not enclosed, so it was open to the elements, and that was a little disheartening. I think that their installation should have shown a little more pride of ownership.

But it's very hard to show pictures of scratches, and they said they couldn't see the scratches. They sent somebody to fix it and clean the scratches, but they never really came off. A brand-new refrigerator should be perfect, yet it was leaking as well. It was a nonstop leak and everything was wrong with it. It was a lemon. Also, the door broke and wouldn't close, and we needed a new spring in the door.
The refrigerator was under warranty, and we had many customer calls and bad experience. Whenever I called in, I sat on hold for half an hour. Before, I was so excited to have Viking. I've known the brand for a long time and they are well-known. Also, the builder of the house we had built wanted to put in Viking appliances, so we agreed to it. But every single one of the Viking appliances is just okay, if not less than okay, which is a bummer. I've had issues with the very top shelf of our Viking Refrigerator. It freezes food because that's where the air comes in from the freezer and you have to be careful on that shelf because the food will get frozen. That has never happened in any of the other refrigerators we’ve had and we’ve owned 40 refrigerators because we move a lot and we’ve owned a lot of homes.
I’m also not happy with the design of the ice machine in the bottom. The sensor bar doesn’t sense the ice very well, so it gets full. When you open it, it knocks the ice off into the back of the refrigerator so you have to patter around there like a kitten trying to get back the ice cubes out after they’ve fallen. My wife and I liked the cabinetry that was in the house that we purchased except the refrigerator was a KitchenAid counter-depth. We wanted a new one but the cabinetry kinda limited us on the size because it has room for a 48-inch wide counter-depth refrigerator only. So, we went looking and KitchenAid Sub-Zero had a very solid name. It's made locally here in Chicago and it was a top consideration. However, their pricing wasn’t as favorable as the Viking which we felt had the same features and has as good a name as the Sub-Zero. So, we decided to go ahead with Viking because with them, we were able to save a little bit of additional money.
Also, when we bought it, the original kitchen was done in white appliances and we decided we wanted to go with the stainless steel look to get a little more modern look. But it required a new built-in oven and a new refrigerator. And with the deal that was going on for the Viking, if you bought the oven and the refrigerator, you got a free dishwasher. So, that was another reason why the Viking brand stood out for us at the time.
So far, it's has a very solid refrigeration and it’s got a nice ventilation system that if there’s something that’s going bad, the whole refrigerator doesn't necessarily smell bad. It also has this great little spot on the bottom where you could put a pizza box which, with the depth of a refrigerator, is not an easy thing and it’s kinda out of the way. So, that’s a nice little feature. I like the style of the coolers as well and the fact that the drawers have an automatic soft close. So, I've been pretty darn happy with our Viking refrigerator.
We’d gone to Abt Electronics which is local here and he go-to place in Chicago. We ended up looking again online just to see what was available and found a place called the Appliance Connection. They're out in New York and they also sell very similar high-end appliances. And because of what the end process was gonna be, we ended up going with the Appliance Connection. It was over $1,000 that we were gonna be able to save by utilizing them as compared to using Abt.
However, the delivery took over six weeks and when they delivered it, they sent two guys. But the refrigerator that we purchased weighs 500 pounds. It’s a heavy refrigerator and the two guys who delivered it said that they couldn't put in in our house. But we told them that we paid for it to go into our house. They ended up having to send another crew out three weeks later to finally get it into the house. It became a pretty big fiasco as far as we were concerned. Also, on the day that were supposed to come out, they said they were gonna be there then, apparently, their dispatch had given them a bad address or the one appointment took longer than it was supposed to, so they didn’t show on the day that they were supposed to come. All in all, I don’t think I’d ever buy from them again.
But it was nothing that Viking had done. As a matter of fact, I went to Viking and complained about Appliance Connection being a reseller of their product and the next day, I was getting a manager’s call from the Appliance Connection to try and make things right. So, Viking did everything they could to try and make it as good as possible. Also, the refrigerator is in now as well as the oven. They are both great and I'm very happy with them.
Viking also has a great name in ranges and stoves and the double oven we got from them fit the spot. It works well and looks good. It’s very nice and phenomenal. The oven and the refrigerator are pretty close together and my wife didn’t want two different looks. She didn't want the handles to be off, for the color of the stainless steel to be slightly different, or even for the grain of the stainless steel to be slightly different. So, when you’ve decided that you're gonna go with that oven, it pushes you to go for the refrigerator as well.

Some say it's not what's on the outside-it's the inside that matters; Viking believes both are important, the appearance makes a customer open THAT door, thank you for upgrading with our brand.

We had a Viking stove and my husband said he wanted them all the same, so we got a Viking refrigerator. The people at the dealership were awesome. We bought two dishwashers at the same time and the rep was really great. We just went back and bought our range from them. The refrigeration is good. I'm not crazy about the drawer layout but it was the only one they had. The drawers aren’t deep enough for the vegetables and the fruits. They don’t have a lot of bottles to choose from. Also, they should have a water dispenser. They're not practically designed. But I don’t have to clean the coils and when you have four cats, it makes a difference that you don’t have to vacuum all those cat hair.

As always, it warms our heart to know we've made life a little easier in our customer's lives. Thank you for placing the Viking brand in YOUR home.

We like all of it and how the refrigerator looks in addition to how it functions. We also had a very good experience with the dealer.

I heard of Viking Refrigerators through my friends. Viking has favorable feedback about the appliances and their quality overall. I also like the competitive pricing bundles that they had put a place for this past year-end. They had an aggressive buy two, get one appliance free. And then also, they had a 5% discount rebate built in. It outpaced most of their competitors and at that point of seeing that, it became a no-brainer to buy a Viking.
We have an 84 inch by 42 side by side and it works fantastic. The only thing it doesn't have is the water dispenser, but that's not a problem for me. It has been working great so far. Also, my experience with the Viking dealer was great. They did really well and inspected everything out for us and made sure the appliances were gonna fit in terms of measurement, design, and all those basic necessities that I was looking for from a product across the board. We put in our entire kitchen with the Viking products and they did great. I would recommend Viking to others.

As soon as they put it in, the ice-maker has not been working. The water comes out if we are putting in our cup, but the ice-maker doesn't make any ice. There is a sheet of ice that fills up in the thing but it doesn't turn into cubes and we don't know what's going on. It has been a month now and the techs aren't gonna even come up to fix it until next week. We are also very unhappy with their customer service. We went back and forth. I also don't understand why the place where we bought it from didn't handle it.

The house that we purchased already had a Viking Range and so, we wanted to continue using Viking. So far, we're not impressed with the refrigerator. We've used Samsung more than anything else before and we've never had so many issues come up as we have with this $15,000 fridge. For one, Viking doesn't have a great after purchase service. When they delivered the fridge, there was something wrong with it. The whole process took about two months for them to come and exchange the fridge. And then this year, we've had issues with the freezer, where a portion of it doesn't seem to be working. We've been back and forth with them trying to find some service provider in the vicinity. Only after two months and a lot of follow up did they finally have someone coming in to check and see what's going on. As to how long it would take them to actually fix it, I'm not even sure.
The thing is, they have a third party that deals with these things, so it's not really the Viking dealer. It's just a number on the brochure. You call them and they send you off to some independent company that they have in your area, and they're the ones that are supposed to come and take care of it. As a result, it keeps ping-ponging back and forth. Besides that, the fridge looks sleek and it's nice to look at. It's wide and it's spacious. I definitely don't have issues with storing anything. I like that the shelves are wide and tall. So in terms of space and cooling issues in the refrigerator, we haven't had an issue. Although, our ice cubes have been melting since summer.
But still, when things get out of hand, they're gonna have a third party, not necessarily a Viking technician coming and dealing with your issues and there's a lot of bureaucracy and telephone calls involved in the middle that waste our time as a consumer. And when you spend so much money on a refrigerator, you sort of don't expect this. You want things to go smoothly. And it all goes back to how great that service provider is, which from my initial experience, they're not great. We even had an issue finding the refrigerator in the beginning. We had to go to another city and order it. So, if I were to recommend Viking to somebody else, I would say make sure that if it's not that easy to procure the item from the beginning, maybe it won't be that easy to get service after the purchase.

My husband knew a long time ago about Viking Refrigerators and we did some comparison with Wolf. We liked the looks of Wolf and the pricing was about the same. We wanted to go for Wolf, but they only do the built-in refrigerator, so we looked at Viking. We went to Midwest TV and Appliances and I liked the salesman, although she didn’t really influence my purchase because when we went there, we knew what we wanted at that point.
I really liked Viking. I liked the look also and they have the freestanding refrigerator, so we decided to buy everything from Viking -- a freestanding range, a freestanding refrigerator, and a wine cellar. We got for free our dishwasher and we got the hood, which was with the ventilator. We also bought the fan plus the hood and we were very happy with it. We haven't figured out the wine cellar because it is not very clear how to set up the temperature, but other than that, we are very happy with it. I also bought some of their cookware from the website and I like the pans and the other stuff.
The core in our freestanding range came broken, but they said it's still good if I plug it. It took around six weeks to get the core and for them to come and replace it. Our oven in our range, because it is brand-new, still has the oily smell, so it bothers me when we use the oven, but everything is looking good and we are very happy with our appliances. Viking is a good brand and I will tell my friends to buy Viking. I have some friends and they are renovating their house. They are so excited about Wolf, but I told them they could try with Viking, it’s nice and it’s quality. I will recommend them to go directly to Viking showroom. It really helps if you go directly to the Viking store instead of going to a dealer that has different brands. The reps will pay more attention to you. Otherwise, you're gonna do so much research online.

It is refreshing to hear you are satisfied with your Viking units, thank you for expressing such loyalty.

When I walked into the showroom, I saw this Viking refrigerator and I liked the look of it. Viking has a good name too. When I made the purchase, the reps I dealt with were good and helpful. I've had my Viking refrigerator for about three weeks now and I like it overall. However, there are some things I have some issues with. The refrigerator is so-called commercial and the compressors are a little louder than I would have expected. Also, the ice bin is trash. There are major problems with it. For one, there is a lower side in the back so when the ice fills up and you pull the ice bin out, the ice falls into the track. When you try to close it, the ice gets crushed in there and you have a hard time closing it. The ice bin also leaks so it freezes over the wires that are underneath the ice bin. At some point, that is probably gonna be an issue.
Another issue is the toe kick although it's not a big deal. They just didn't put it on yet and I can't figure out how to do it. On the other hand, I like the pizza box holder at the bottom. And although I didn't like these at first, I now like the automatic closing doors, as well as all the meat and vegetable compartments. It is also very bright inside the refrigerator. I like the lights.

We're pleased WE were able to catch your eye, we're also confident you'll enjoy your unit for years to come. Thank you for trusting Viking to help care for your family.

My wife knew about the name Viking and saw it in the stores when we were looking for refrigerators that had a reputable name. However, the Viking refrigerator we have makes a vibrating noise all the time and that's very annoying. They had people come out here twice and there was nothing they could do about it. One person from their support group said that it's a manufacturing problem and that there's nothing they could do about it. He said it's not a Viking problem and it doesn't make sense to me. I asked him if there's someone else I could contact and he said no. That was very discouraging. I finally tried on my own to find somebody high up, but I couldn't get it. We had an old Sub-Zero and we needed to replace it because it was not possible to repair it. We were trying to find an appliance who can go inside the place and we had a few choices. Viking Refrigerators' model was the right price and it was a high-quality product. We had a problem with the delivery of the fridge to our home. They broke our product during the transport but the fridge seems to be working properly. And the installation was really complicated for the installer. They took three hours to adjust everything and it was really difficult, so that's the thing that we can't fix. Also, the shelves inside are too soft, so when you put like a turkey inside, the shelf bends. And it makes a lot of noise and we were surprised by the noise of that model of that price.
Now, we are waiting for a technician to repair the damage during transport. They have to change a part of the door and another thing that broke during the bad delivery. Also, in the store, they told us that model adds a two-year guarantee and in the manual that we have, they said three years of guarantee. The technician told me that usually when he comes to repair over the guarantee, he always took the information in the manual. He told us maybe it's a two-year on our bill but if we could take a picture of the manual and say it's a three-year guarantee from the date of purchase or delivery date. I would like to receive a confirmation if it's true because it seems that they change the base guarantee. We bought an extended guarantee because we want to use that product for the next 20-year. We don't want a problem. I would appreciate receiving a confirmation that that model we have has a three-year guarantee as a base guarantee.

thank you for allowing Viking into your home, we appreciate you as a customer.

When I shut the freezer door of the Viking refrigerator, it hangs up about a half an inch on one side and then I gotta slam it in. It's also overheating. Then every time I open the freezer drawer, the ice bin flips out on the floor, it goes backward. The machine rubs on the top of the ice because the ice bin is full and so the ice flips out. Now I've got to open the door very carefully so I don't get ice on the floor because my floor is not in yet. But if I normally pull the door, it would do that. Viking could have designed this a little bit better.
I called the retailer, Fred's Appliance, immediately for repair and they said they'd get somebody out. A week passed and nobody called so I called again. The guy asked if somebody called me and I said no. He said that he'd get right on it. Then another few days passed and we finally got a call. The people are not coming out till the 28th so I'm dealing with the door being crappy. I was so happy when we bought our beautiful (blue!) range and fridge in 2011 for our weekend cottage, which is only important because they did not even have daily use. Within the first 2 years the fridge started leaking, the ice maker broke numerous times, the drawers cracked (replacements were hard to find and ridiculously expensive) and now the temperature cannot be adjusted and everything in the fridge freezes. The range is no better. The temperature is uneven, one knob came off, the doors (both) came off their hinges.
Now only the small oven closes properly and I have to lean against the large door to get an accurate amount of heat. I’ve spent hours trying to find somebody to fix these two items. When I did, they charged a fortune and the repair lasted no longer than a few weeks. Since about a year I have given up and am living with the expensive mistake I made 9 years ago. I’ve tried contacting Viking directly but they were no help either. I will never buy a Viking again.

I went to the store and looked at all the different refrigerator models. I was doing a kitchen remodel and I was going for a certain kind of look. I was looking at the GE Café and the KitchenAid that had the kinda industrial handles. I didn’t find Viking Refrigerators until my second or third trip. The thing that basically made me go to the Viking was that it had the handles that match my GE Café double oven. It looks very similar. Also, I was going back and forth between the French door and the side by side. But when I finally decided on the French door, and that was a whole process, the thing that drove me away from the GE and the KitchenAid was the inside design. I liked Viking's inside design the best.
Some of the situations on the others were, when the door was open, you couldn’t open the vegetable drawer all the way unless you really, really open the door wide. Sometimes, the French door even blocks the drawers from opening. Another issue was that a lot of times, the shelves had an enter too at the back so things would fall down the back. I didn’t like the fact that it’s like if I put something on the shelf and if it’s small enough, it’s gonna end up falling down at the back of the refrigerator and I really didn’t want that hassle. But the bottom line is I like the look. The quality in terms of not having maintenance issues was good.

Viking installed it improperly so we had to change the doors. When the doors came, they were all scratched. We had to get a brand-new Viking fridge and there were all these scratches on the doors, which was unacceptable. But they brought new doors and they just didn't balance them.
I filled out a form, I registered online, and Viking Refrigerators called me a local company and we've been playing phone tag. I want them to send somebody to fix the door but it hasn't happened. We knew that Viking was a high-end product and we’ve always felt that we’ve gotten better attention if there were service issues from the higher-end products. I knew that that’s the one that I wanted, and I went in the dealer and we were able to knock out all the items that I needed. Also, the delivery was very quick and the delivery men were great. When my refrigerator broke right before Thanksgiving, they were able to get me refunded because I was going out of town and they were able to get to me right after I came back.
I have my kitchen custom built. I had a Jenn Air before, which I was not happy with. The smaller Viking that we purchased was able to fit. We like the size and everything about it is just pretty. The only thing that I don’t like is there’s no water dispenser since I don’t like having to access the water and ice on the outside of the refrigerator. I didn’t know that there was no water dispenser when I purchased the fridge. I might have reconsidered it had I known that. But other than that, we like the fridge. There’s a lot more space than the Jenn Air and I like the way that the compartments are all set. I have a lot more room for things and they’re easier to see. We're very happy with our purchase.

Viking Refrigerators could pack a little bit better. When we pulled it out of the box, there were one or two dents on the front of the fridge that happened when it was getting taken down off of the warehouse and shipped. Whenever we noticed that it was running a little bit louder than we thought it would, we would call them to come out, look at it, and make sure there was nothing wrong with the fans or anything like that. And it was super easy getting somebody out. Overall, the quality of the refrigeration has been pretty decent. I hear about Viking Refrigerators everywhere. I hear about it online, I talked to people that bought my appliances. I go to the store and they show me the good one. I liked Viking for the size and the quality of the way the freezer was put together. It doesn’t have all those get your cherry coffee or pressurized in 12 different ways because those were the things that always break down and we don’t care about. Also, Viking has a good reputation. However, the stainless steel is impossible to clean decently and keep streak-free. It’s horrible. You can’t buy a good refrigerator with stainless steel anymore. It kinda breaks my heart. Also, the fridge gets too cold for gentle stuff that you put towards the back where the cold air comes out and that’s always been an issue. I thought it wouldn’t be with my fridge, but it is so I just raise the temperature.
When the fridge was installed, I had Viking come out because it was making too much of the little gurgling noise that it has a reputation for making and I felt it seemed excessive. An authorized service representative came out, played with it for about an hour, pulled it out, plugged and unplugged it, couldn’t find anything wrong, then left. I then noticed after he left that the small panel at the bottom of the freezer was not reattached correctly and I was unable to do it myself because I was afraid I was gonna break it.
I called the service people back and then they gave me a hard time saying that, “Well, the same guy that came out has to come out again. He can’t come out until after New Year,” etc etc. And I said, “But he didn’t do anything. I just need someone to look at this and reattach it.” He didn’t make any changes or any adjustments or anything that needed to be reevaluated or rechecked. He just plugged and unplugged it and said, “I don’t hear any gurgling noise,” and left. I didn’t like that. So I called Viking and said, “This is unacceptable. I don’t see any reason why someone can’t get out here quicker because nothing really was done.” Viking called the authorized service dealer who immediately called me back and sent someone out that same day which I very much appreciated. That was just excellent of Viking to do that.
A second guy came out and it turned out that the freezer panel door was warped, and the thing at the bottom that didn’t attach correctly when the first guy came out., was damaged. All of that has been reordered and I was supposed to hear from them a week or so ago about coming out to replace those items and I haven’t. I’m still waiting to hear back from them, but their services were good and they stand behind the product.

I purchased brand new Viking appliances for my entire kitchen. I got a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a 36-inch gas range. I happened to be at Best Buy and walked by their display. I knew Viking was very reputable. I had it quoted to see if it would fit my needs. However, purchasing the appliances there was a nightmare. It was probably the most painful thing I've been through.
Every single product delivered to me by Best Buy was a disaster. It's because once it leaves Viking, it actually goes into a contracted service that Best Buy uses, and it's their distributorship that caused the problem. They had way too many hand offs, they had a product coming out of Mississippi and went into distribution centers, and they were supposed to make it to Minneapolis. This is also when the products will be damaged as well, like the dent in the microwave. My refrigerator was delivered completely dead on arrival. They installed it and told me it was gonna take 24 hours for it to cool. The next morning, it's as hot as it was when they installed it. The fridge had to be completely replaced.
Furthermore, it took almost 12 weeks for my range to be delivered. I was getting the runaround from Best Buy. I kept getting excuses on why they told me they couldn't find my range. I told them, "How do you lose a 36-inch range? I don't understand." They said, "Well, it didn't arrive. They were a no-show at the loading dock". I had used the range one day, it had a short in it and burned up the entire range.
I know that these issues wasn't Viking's fault and I don't think they had any control over what was happening once it was purchased. I felt like the CEO of Viking needed to know about my experience because of the distribution. I did a Google search for the CEO of Viking, and I called and left a message for him on his voicemail. He called me within an hour. And the next day, I had resolution. I had appliances being delivered and everything being handled. They sent a Viking representative out of a smaller-type of distributor, and not a big box company. He was fantastic. Best Buy was putting all the blame squarely on Viking's shoulders because every time I would call them they told me that all the delays were because of Viking. It was ironic that once I did get a hold of Viking, the problem was handled within a day or two days. I would recommend Viking to a friend, although I would tell them never to buy through Best Buy.

it's troubling to hear of your buying experience; though we're more than pleased you're now a part of the core in which Viking stands. Thank you for seeing the face value.

We have a Viking stove and an oven as well. Then, we were shopping around for a new stove and we really liked our Viking stove. They stopped selling Viking up here in Canada and when we bought the stove, it was just at the point when Viking lost that trademark. We were looking for a stove that didn’t have a lot of sort of electronics but would be really a good gas stove. It’s an electric oven and that would stand the test of time. The salesperson really highly recommended the stove and she was right. We love it. Then, when it came time to replace our fridge, we just naturally leaned towards looking for a fridge that had the same quality. We were lucked out that the timing was such that they started selling Viking again here in Canada.
I love the icemaker that’s in the pullout drawer. We didn’t think we wanted any kind of an icemaker or a water dispenser but this one came with the ice dispenser inside and we love that. We use it all the time. And I love the layout of the drawers on the inside, the flexibility with being able to move the shelves around. I love that the shelves are glass. They’re clear so I can see through into them. Also, there are lots of space in the bottom and there’s like a pullout temperature control drawer that holds lots and lots of fruits and vegetables in there. They’re smartly designed and it's a really nice fridge. One thing that would be great would be if it was easier for us to get our hands on the replacement water filters and the air filters. It's a little bit of a challenge. They have to get ordered from the States and then they go to the appliance store. It takes a long time. Other than that, I would highly recommend Viking.

There are times in life where we might lean a bit towards out own understanding, then something or someone sheds a bit of light; in our case it is the demands of our customers. Thank you for trusting and helping to uphold or vision.

We had to replace our six-year-old Viking which was in our house when we bought it. Only another Viking would fit in the hole for the fridge. We got a new model and it has been great. The company that brought the fridge out did a fantastic job. We like the lights inside which are really bright. It's also a lot quieter than the old Viking we had. It also has sliding drawers on it that you’d touch and they just shut on their own. One time, we called to talk to somebody at Viking about the warranty and my wife said that went really well. Overall, the refrigerator we have is very nice and we're really happy with it.

It's truly humbling to hear from start to finish you are more than satisfied. Thank you for giving Viking the chance to continue providing excellent service and quality.

I also looked at the name brand and features that were offered. Viking was the way to go. I like that the refrigerator is counter-depth. It really blends in the look with the appearance in my kitchen. It looks like it's built in. It's definitely an upgrade to what I had before. You can tell that the refrigerator is high quality. The interactions with the Viking dealer was good, but when they delivered the dishwasher it was damaged. They made good and replaced it with a brand new one though. I'd tell friends that I'm impressed with Viking and that it definitely is the right way to go.

I found Viking Refrigerators at the expo 10 years ago and I bought a refrigerator-freezer. I thought I was buying a decent product, so I was happy but it has been problematic. The door springs have been replaced twice and I just had the evaporators replaced to keep it from draining water all over the floor. There is a probe that hits the drain and the freezer. I’ve had people come out two times to clear the sink or leaking all over the floor. I bought a warranty on it and they took care of it at that time but it was an expensive thing to have.
There have been multiple issues over the years and the interior of the refirgeartor-freezer was cheaply-made. The pieces of metal that they stripped across the top of the glass, on the shelves, fall off regularly and do not hold on. There are things that don't fit, the finish is not good and the drawers don't close evenly. You got a crisper drawer down at the bottom, but it hangs halfway out. The plastic was cracked in a couple of places and they said that those were cosmetics, so those weren't under warranty. They look great but I may have done better buying a GE rather than going and spending the money we spent on these. Their work at some of their parts were still under warranty that they just fixed but I spent $2,600 on repairs three weeks ago.
Viking Refrigerators refer you out because they don’t have their own service team and I worked with a company called Lakeview. The tech that worked on the refrigerator-freezer used to be a long-term employee with Viking prior. After he put it back together and I opened the freezer baskets at the bottom, the piece of trim flies. We put the trim piece on the wrong side and they need to be rotated. I don't know what they cost now but they were $6,000 aside. For the amount of money you spent for refrigeration, you would expect it to be a lot higher in quality. I had Sub-Zero before and I replaced it but I may have been better off going back with another set of Sub-Zeros, knowing what I know now.
Unfortunately, I am done. I'm just getting ready to buy another microwave. I was trying to get a Viking guy to call me back from one of the showrooms and I've left messages for them a couple of times but they don't return calls, so it's frustrating. Since I got a Viking microwave and the whole interior of it has corroded the part, it's basically a throw away. It cost $700 to get another microwave in there. Sharp makes them all and Viking is their later one. So, I bought a $200 unit that gets the logo stamped on it. I also had a Viking dishwasher that I put in 2008 and I had to replace it two years ago. It just came apart. They didn't have parts for it because the maker of the dishwasher went out of business so, I went and bought another new Viking to put in there. I also bought vents and re-did the whole kitchen with Viking.

We've had our Viking refrigerator for eighteen years. In that time we've had three service calls and one recall. Now the unit needs a complete new cooling system costing thousands of dollars. Realizing that the unit was way out of warranty, I called customer service anyway to see if they would a least share part of the repair cost with me. They were adamant that they would not. When I purchased the unit I fully expected that it would outlast the less expensive brands. An independent repairman suggested that it would be worthwhile to forego repair and buy another refrigerator, not a Viking as he considers them as expensive junk. I guess cost does not equal quality.

Viking Range makes every effort to manufacture products of the highest quality. Unfortunately, in spite of all the precaution taken to ensure the reliability of our products, occasional part failures may occur. Viking has one of the longest sealed system warranties in the industry. But with you being 6 years outside of the extended sealed system warranties we were unable to make any concessions.

I originally had a Thermador, but I was looking at Consumer Reports and the ratings, and the next best one I saw was the Viking. It was a little less expensive than the Thermador, so I went with them. I liked that they have professional-grade appliances, so I purchased from an online dealer, appliancesconnection.com. I got the Viking dishwasher, fridge and stove on a package deal. I live in California and the appliances came from across the United States, so it took a couple of weeks to get them. At that time, I was in Spain and my house is under construction, so that didn't matter to me very much.
When I received the items, the front part of the dishwasher was damaged. I contacted Viking to let them know. I spoke with a reps but the interactions I had with them were so-so. I said that I wanted to keep the dishwasher, but I asked them if I could have a new faceplate put on. They said yes, but they kept giving me the runaround for a couple of months. They said that the appliance would be coming from overseas, which wasn't true because it is manufactured in the United States. Also, the refrigerator lights already went out, so I need to call them and let them know to have them come and repair it. In addition, the dishwasher keeps leaking from the door. But other than a few little problems that I had, everything has been great. I love the oven and the stove works great. I like Viking's products and I would tell people to order them.

We were trying to do a fixer-upper and we needed to renovate. Then, our realtor recommended Viking to us and we consulted with them. We went to a showroom in Reno, New Jersey and we also saw some from P.C. Richards. We did some research online to know what models we like then, we went to the showroom and ordered Viking. Their reps were all good as they know their products. We talked about what we wanted and they gave us a number of options and recommended all the different products. They gave us the pros and cons of each and the price point too. It was informative.
However, we had a couple of issues. We ordered a professional range with a Viking label on it. So, we called the person and complained about it. Then, they sent out someone to fix it and it was fixed yesterday. Also, the LED light was not working on one of the double French ovens for some reason but the oven was working. The guy who did he fix said he would submit another ticket for us to order the part then they will come to fix it. Other than that, the quality of my Viking is good. I am happy with it and compared with Sub-Zero, which is one of the main competition, Viking has a good price. It is also well embossed.

Also, I feel good about the quality, so far. The only thing that I haven’t found, but maybe it’s on the system I haven’t found, is a filter for the icemaker water. What they should probably incorporate to the design is a built-in filtering system for that. Other than that, Viking is doing a great job. Their new, prize designs are getting better and better. The trick, ultimately, is to provide the maximum amount of usable space in a small external space and they’re working on that.

Viking makes every effort to listen and hear what our customer's want, which is our foundation for newer and improved models. Thank you for being a part of what Viking is building.

Viking does have a good name and so we were thinking that it would be a better product than some of the other ones. We knew that Viking wasn’t really great at refrigerators but since they purchased the refrigerator company, we felt that a lot of the engineering efforts embedded into that product line would make its way into the Viking, so we were optimistic that the product quality would be really good.
We bought the whole package. The refrigerator, the microwave, the dishwasher and the stove. The other products are performing very well except the refrigerator. We've had four service calls which was not that great of an experience, but I don’t know if it’s a complete Viking problem. There’s certainly a design problem with the refrigerator. I think the engineering effort on the refrigerator isn’t right yet. The freezer is too large, so unless you have a loaded refrigerator, the thing wobbles and moves because it was made of cheap plastic. Everybody's is but the difference with Viking is the cavity of their freezer is larger than everybody else’s, and so it tips faster. That ended up being the problem and it took four service calls before my father-in-law ended up fixing it, not the service guys. The service guys gotta invest more into the service personnel because they’re not up to par to give Vikings a good rap.
My father-in-law was used to a side-by-side where the whole left was the freezer and the whole right was the refrigerator. Unfortunately, unless you went into the built-in, Viking doesn’t have a model like that. So it's taking him some getting used to, having the top and the bottom, but I would encourage Vikings to come up with a cost-effective model that does have a side-by-side because that would be a really great seller. We got the refrigerator installed end of August or September and it just got fixed the week before Thanksgiving. It was a very unpleasant experience.

It also seems solid and reliable, like the Viking refrigerator that I had before. Viking Support has been very good, too. When the dealer sent a crew who was not a certified installer and did an extremely poor job, I ended up calling Viking Support and that was when I finally got help.
So far, I like the refrigeration part of my current Viking refrigerator, but I'm not too pleased that its freezer. It is so noisy and on all the time, which is quite bothersome when it is in the middle of a kitchen or family room area. It did not occur to me when I had the smaller refrigerator that the freezer kicked on all the time. With this one, the compressor kicks on for a few times a day and when I open it, which I find unnecessary. Even in a cool day in Northern California, it would kick on and last for a long time. And I hardly use the freezer. I have called their technical support and the guy said that the freezer does that because it needs defrosting. But why would it need to do that all these times? I was also told that it’s normal, which I find counter intuitive when I hear the freezer cranking more often than I open it. So if that's really not a defect, then it is a very poor design.

I like the quality of the Viking and they seemed to be the only one of the few who had the type of configuration we wanted. Our Viking fridge is great and it works well for what we need. It has a lot of space, and the space is very well designed overall. I bought the unit at Pacific Sales in Best Buy, and it took a while to order a Viking from them. The dealer doesn’t usually have them in stocks. I had to wait for two weeks for them to be available.
The installation process was a bit of a journey of its own. The people in the store did their best but they are not very knowledgeable about what exactly was needed for the installation. But the people who installed the unit were really knowledgeable. They came to my house four times, so I got to know them a bit. What they do is they install high-end appliances, and they're the ones who know exactly what needs to be done and in what order. So, I think it will be better if customers like us can speak to somebody that is knowledgeable after we purchased, so they can tell us exactly what to do because there's a complexity in terms of the water line and where the power outlet needs to be.
So, this company came to my house four times during the course of two weeks. One time, we were missing a part. And then they came, and they couldn’t install it because we didn’t have the right cabinet dimensions in. I, as a consumer, could have saved a lot of time if I just had one phone call with somebody who would explain things to me and give me the specific details. When you buy a piece of equipment that is $12,000, a phone call like that should be granted. If I was buying a $1,000 refrigerator, I wouldn’t expect that type of service. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the product and I would recommend Viking.

Viking is one of the very few appliance makers that has a range top that every burner has the same BTU capacity so I can cook on any burner I want. Also, I'm only 5'4" and when I have a regular door on the top, I have to reach in. I had a double oven before and I burnt my arms a couple of times trying to reach in and get the stuff out. Viking has this double oven that I can open with one hand and both doors open. I was going for the complete functionality and that is why I chose Viking.
My refrigerator is working well and keeps my Cokes cold. I like it. But I had to call Viking for a service because the icemaker wasn't working. It would turn on but it wouldn't make ice. I wanted something clean and I like the look of the Viking refrigerator unlike those with a door with the ice maker in it or anything through the door because I know that separates. So, I bought a Viking. It is a brand-new refrigerator but I have not used it. It’s broken right now. In fact, it has not been right since the get-go so I’m waiting on repair and warranty. My experience with the dealer was good. It has just been a slow process.

My son and my daughter used to rent places with Viking appliances and they loved it. They suggested it to me and we went with it because of the reputation and the good quality product. I purchased the refrigerator from the local appliances store and it was wonderful because we had done the research. We came up with what we wanted and looked up who could order it for us. Then we went to the store where they recommended online from Viking and we ordered that. So it was good. I like the look of the refrigerator and how all the buttons are inside. They're not visible. We've installed everything according to the instructions but the ice is not working. So the dealer who sold us the refrigerator is coming to see what’s going on. Hopefully, they will fix it. But other than that, there has been no problem and overall, the experience has been excellent.

I've known Viking Refrigerators for so long. I like the look and the style of the refrigerators. They also have a better quality than the rest of their competitors. The refrigerator that I have bought is average and I've spent $9,000 on it. However, I’ve already had a service call out here because the thing wasn’t working properly. Based on the fact that they had charged much more, their product and service should have been stellar. Even so, somebody quickly got out here and that guy was great. I also Iike the construction of the solid door. And also, I like the fact that the inside thing is made of metal.
Purchasing from Viking was a good experience up until the point where they were to deliver the item, but then it all went to crap. When they delivered the item, they gave me a delivery date, but they didn’t meet that. And then they gave me another delivery date and didn’t meet that as well. So it was just a big fiasco. It took three days to finally have the item installed. Since that was a Monday, they didn’t even have it installed and so I installed it myself.
Also initially, Viking was responsive. I had bought three different products. I bought a Viking Refrigerator, the beverage center, and the ice machine. And two of them were delivered on one day. The beverage center was deemed late by Viking. They said they didn’t have it yet. So, once again, the second time they came in, they’re supposed to deliver it but they didn’t show up. They called me and told me that it wasn’t gonna be delivered for another couple days. And then again, it was supposed to be delivered between 12:00 and 5:00, and they showed up at 9:00 at night. The second time they delivered, the service level just sucked.
These dealers are representing Viking. I know it's difficult because they’re not just selling Viking, they’re also selling other products. But at the end of the day, it puts a bad taste on my mouth that Viking works with these people. If Viking wants to say that they are a service-oriented company and believes in their customers, then they ought to pay attention to who’s actually selling this product and who’s delivering the product in the homes because it only takes one experience to turn somebody off. So I don’t know if I’d ever buy another Viking again. I would also tell others that if they ever want to go buy the product, that would be fine but I would also tell them to make sure they do their research.

Our Viking refrigerator stopped working. Then the oven that we chose worked for a month and stopped working, too. We had technicians coming back and forth with new parts for three times, but it never worked. And it took a while, from February until October, until Viking decided to give us a new one. We have a new oven now and it's working. The refrigerator is also working now, so I'm happy. But I was three weeks without it and it was a nightmare. The delivery of the part took forever and I didn't know what was causing the delay, especially with something so important like a refrigerator. When I was talking with the company that Viking recommended me to call, they said that we had to wait, that the delay was not on them, and that it was Viking that was taking forever to deliver the part.
We also have an issue with the dishwasher. It’s not working properly because it’s not drying the dishes. But I haven’t called and made a complain about it because the repair took so long with the oven and the refrigerator. So our Viking experience hasn’t been good at all. It was frustrating and more than challenging. We thought we had the best appliances when we got Viking. But my husband and I were talking and we said that if we move, Viking would not be the brand we’re gonna choose.

In 2011 we remodeled our kitchen, spending over $100,000. We installed all Viking appliances. Since then we have had numerous issues with all of the appliances, necessitating 16+ service calls, causing me to lose all of those days of work. Most issues were with the refrigerator. In 2012 the original refrigerator was actually replaced. Yet the replacement has never ceased to be a problem, continuing until now. My complaints to Viking and to the BBB, therefore, continue.
We recently had another service call, from a different company. The technician, who was very thorough, found 9 major issues, which have existed since the installation of this refrigerator. These "defects" were not caused by anything that did/did not do. This report was submitted to Viking. Their offer is to provide parts and we are to be responsible for the labor. This is estimated to be an eight hour job, and to cost $1800, making it $225/hour. This is unacceptable!

I had a Viking refrigeration unit close to 15 years. But it crapped out and it was gonna cost $2,500 to fix it. The cabinetry that I have was all set to the same size of a Viking refrigerator and I didn’t wanna pull out the cabinetry that I have built around it. The showroom also had a Viking refrigerator that I was able to buy off the floor model that they were willing to sell me because I got my first Viking there so they gave me a discount on it. Its lighting is a lot better than the old one, but I'm very concerned when I bought it.
I bought it from Holloways and they told me that I would get the standard guarantees if anything was to go wrong. It's like buying a new product off of the floor. But the refrigerator wasn’t working in the store and it was just set up there. I thought I was buying a model where I get the same guarantees. After I registered the product with Viking, I was told by their customer service people that my refrigerator was out of warranty because it was on the floor for five years. If Viking was such a great company and had superior products, they would give me the same guarantee as a new refrigerator. I'm stuck with this model now and they will not back up a product that was brand new to me for more than 90 days. My experience with them, whether I get a guarantee or not, made me become turned off with the company 100%. I would not buy and recommend a Viking.

We've had the Viking refrigerator since ’07 when we remodeled the kitchen. Unfortunately, we've had a number of issues with the unit since we bought it. The compressor went out within the first three years and although it was covered, the hassle of having a refrigerator not working was not desirable. We also had something else similar go out that we had to cover labor on. Then we had an icemaker go out and it got replaced. Then back in July, it stopped refrigerating. We had a leak in a tube for the Freon. This tube system had a little pan that had water in it so it corroded and that was where it leaked. So we had a guy come in and do a repair on it. But that was only a temporary repair. In August, it failed again.
We realized that the unit was still covered for parts although not for labor because it was a six-year parts and labor then a 12-year parts warranty. At that point, the refrigerator was just under 11 years. So we called about having the part covered but the guy that we had through that one repair that failed said the he couldn't submit that to the factory because he was not factory-authorized. So I looked up an authorized repair center which was located in Wisconsin, about 60 miles away from us. But we were told that at that point, our warranty was null and void because the repair was done by an unauthorized repair guy and he did something that the factory would not have authorized. When we contacted Viking, they confirmed that the repair that was done, which was putting a sealer into some Freon, was not really authorized and it could cause other parts to fail.
I also talked to two technicians and when the customer service person came back, they offered us a different unit, a brand new unit, at a 25% discount. But it was still gonna be a lot of money. Plus the new unit did not have some of the features we had. It did not even have a water dispenser. Then I contacted this other repair guy. He said that he was pretty sure he knew what was wrong. He came back and fixed it, and it's been working fine ever since. Hailey, from the unit factory, contacted us and she was a very nice person. My wife explained to her what had happened and that we were just gonna stay with what we had and see how it goes.
So the refrigerator had four different repairs and the door ripped on it as well. There is no perfect but you would think some of these things would be more long-lasting than what they had been. The design is really poor unfortunately. While we like the unit, we're disappointed with the quality of the high-end appliance that we paid a premium price for. We initially paid somewhere in the $5,000 range for it and the fact that it has gone out so many times is disappointing.

The refrigerator is no longer under warranty but I have tried for years to have the ice maker repaired at different times. It will work for a very short duration and then will build up ice and the whole refrigerator needs to be defrosted and a part needs to be replaced. Here are some of my out of pocket costs: 5/7/18 $89.95, 2/6/18 $142.70, 11/8/16 $256.00, 10/26/16 $59.95.

My wife and I just replaced our Viking side by side with a Sub Zero side by side. Boy what a difference. During the warranty period the service tech was out to our house about once per month. The Ice Maker didn't work in that it dripped water into the ice tray and formed long hanging icicles which made it almost impossible to open the ice drawer. The screw mechanism that forced the ice into the ice crusher would fail on a regular basis so we could never use our machine for crushed ice. The rubber seals on the doors began cracking early on preventing a tight door closure.
The plastic drawers and shelves began cracking as well. Since almost all of them began cracking at the same time this was more of a poor materials issue than a one time problem. The machine has only one compressor which cools the freezer. There is a fan between the freezer and refrigerator that blows cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator to keep it cool. This means that everything on the top two shelves of the refrigerator were usually frozen. The compressor failed and since the freezer and refrigerator were on the same compressor we lost both.
The control panel on top of the machine was basically useless in that it had a useless bar led graph rather than a digital numerical display to give you a relative estimate of the coldness setting in the freezer. When we replaced this Viking with a Sub Zero it was like being reborn. All of the design issues we suffered with the Viking are absent in the Sub Zero, including the single compressor issue. The Sub Zero has two compressors, one for the refrigerator and one for the freezer which are isolated from one another.
The Sub Zero has easy to use numerical controls to independently set the freezer and refrigerator temperatures to a resolution of one degree, air filters to remove Ethylene gasses produced by stored vegetables, an internal on/off switch to power up/down the machine for maintenance or cleaning, and it has what looks to be a reliable ice maker and water dispenser design. The other issue we had problems with is that it is difficult if not impossible to find a Viking certified appliance repair company when you live in a remote area. The closest Viking certified repair company was 100 miles away. This creates huge problems, especially when the warranty expires.

We were looking for a counter depth refrigerator, and the Viking refrigerator was one of the few ones that we liked. It works really well and we like its design. It gets the food really cold. I like the lighting there and the construction of it. However, the dealer we bought it from was horrible. I bought from the dealer Viking appliances including a refrigerator, range, dishwasher, and a microwave. When they first brought the refrigerator over, they didn’t have a truck that has a ramp to take it off from the truck. What they ended up doing was they had to open up the fridge in the truck, had to lay it on its side, and slid it on the floor. They had three people struggling, carrying it into the house without its box. I was to the point of just livid. Fortunately, they didn’t scratch anything because I was standing there right next to them making sure nothing happened. I could have picked a better dealer despite them giving me free installation.
I have a printout of the fridge so that we know where to put the electrical outlet as well as the water outlet. But in the case of the range, there wasn’t really a cutout. All we knew was that it has a 30-inch width so when it arrived, it couldn’t fit into the wall because the gas outlet in the wall was right in the middle. We remodeled the entire kitchen and nobody explained it to me when I was in the showroom that we could have reconfigured everything to make sure that the appliances actually fit there. Also in the dishwasher, there was a piece at the bottom that keeps falling off. It's kinda weird and I’m not sure what to do with it. However, the appliances were great, overall. They included the refrigerator if you bought the range. However, when they plugged the refrigerator that they installed, it didn’t work. It didn’t even come on. Then we got into a little argument with the guy and told him that they gotta take the refrigerator out if it doesn’t work because P.C. Richard, where we bought it, said that they should not leave it there. But they made good and they came back the next day with another refrigerator.
At the same time, the range didn’t work either. I had gotten into a big argument with Viking headquarters and P.C. Richard that the range doesn’t work and they didn’t believe me so I had to wait a couple of days to get a Viking repair guy to confirm that it wasn’t working. Then, I had to wait four days for them to take the range out of my house and bring a new range. Also, there's a minor issue with the dishwasher. So, overall, the appliance purchase was a very bad experience because the guys were in my house installing everything half of the day and I gotta wait for them. We wasted five days on the whole process. Moreover, they have a Viking pots and pans set, which is $500, and I told them that they should send me a gift certificate for all the hassle that I just went through, but I never heard anything back.
Lastly, the customer service reps at Viking knew everything that was going on but no one from them ever got back to me even though they told me I had to keep going to the retailer, and that was a nightmare because of the way P.C. Richard set up with inventory. Given my feelings with Viking, I have mixed emotions about recommending their products.
