When we bought this condo, an LLC came in and we completely remodeled it. We had an appliance package that everything in the kitchen is Viking. However, I've been a little disappointed with some of the Viking products because I know it has got such a good reputation. The Viking refrigerator seems to be building up the ice cubes like you got a pull-out drawer. I really like the style of the double doors on top with the freezer at the bottom, but when I open the door for the freezer all the ice falls out the back of the tray. It was a brand-new kitchen when we got the condo and there was all this frost buildup. Evidently, somebody hadn’t put the shelves in right, so it pushed the door out a little bit.
I had a Viking repairman come in and he fixed that and he said a lot of people had this complaint as the tray isn’t tall enough at the back of it. I guess Viking has done something to order a higher back on the ice tray to hold the ice cubes in. He said he ordered it. I had spoken to somebody at Viking and it seemed that the people that remodeled did not register any of the products. I had to get online as well as on the phone to register the products and that was a challenge as well. I'm pretty efficient on the product code, yet it took about three days to get all the products registered through the website and for customer service to call me back and tell me, “Don’t put that number in. Leave that letter off.“
Viking customer service and repair was excellent. The customer service was very helpful getting back to me, double checking and calling me back. They were prompt and they were fine. It was just so odd about this logging in the product serial number and stuff and then not having to go through. The refrigerator was just good to average and I really like the bottom freezer. The refrigerator has a feature that has chilled water on it, but that’s something that I had no choice because the refrigerator came with it. Also, the refrigerator doors are not quite sturdy. It seems like when I open the double doors, everything seems to rattle and move around. But I've never had a double door before since I've had a KitchenAid with a bottom freezer and a big single door. So, maybe it's just the nature of having the double refrigerator doors.

I got my Viking Refrigerator when I bought the house one year ago and the fridge was awesome. But then a drawer came out and I couldn't get it back in. I spent five hours trying to get that back together. Even my husband tried and he couldn’t do it, then other pieces were falling out. I tried to hold it up with water bottles at one time. I called Viking and someone is coming to fix it tomorrow free of charge. They ordered all new replacement parts. Still, the Viking fridge is an excellent product. I like the door alarm too. If you don’t get it shut, it beeps.

I liked Viking Refrigerators’ fit, finish, features, and benefits. We replaced a GE refrigerator that didn’t come with a very good warranty. Viking came with a good warranty and we liked it. It matched the other appliances in our home. We’re still pleased with the refrigerator but are not happy about the fact that the water filter freezes up when you set the special chamber to something less than 380. I called them last week after calling and discussing with the local service agent. They need to put the top piece on the refrigerator. It’s an opaque vent to make it match the other appliances in the kitchen. The rep said he gave me all kinds of information and I said, “Look, I called the guy locally. He said if I called you guys, it’s more than likely you would respond since it was a customer calling and not a local service agent.” He told me to give him 30 minutes on the phone and he’ll call me back. That was last week and half a week has elapsed but no response.
The guys in Mississippi have been all kind but they make commitments and I don’t see any follow through with either myself or the local service agent. Viking has to start following through. When you make a commitment to do something, do it. And if you’re not going to do it or if you can’t do it, then tell me. But don’t leave me and the local service agent hanging. The local sales guy said, “Look, if you’re not happy with the refrigerator, the folks at Viking will replace it.” I don’t want a new refrigerator. I’m perfectly happy with this one. Just solve the problems that I have. I got two problems and neither one of them had been solved or addressed.

Viking is sorry to hear of the issues that you are having. We will have a Customer Care Advocate contact you to get more information and to see how we can assist.

I got Viking's product because it fits in the space where I had to install a refrigerator. Number two, I like the lines of it and number three, because of their reputation. My Viking refrigerator has been good so far. I like the performance and how it’s good with the refrigeration part and the freezer. But I don’t like that the ice cubes keep flowing over and I don’t know how to shut it off like the other refrigerators.

Our Viking Refrigerator came with the house and was chosen by the builder. So far, the quality has been okay but we had some issues. First, the handle on the fridge-side door broke. I called the customer service and they sent someone over to check. They ended up ordering a new part. It was covered under the warranty and everything was taken care of in a timely manner. Second, the freezer is making a noise. Last week, we had noticed this noise for four days. Then over the weekend, the noise disappeared. I have an appointment today with the Viking’s service guy to come and fix the issue.

I own a Viking range and a Sub-Zero refrigerator but I was looking for a freestanding one. Between Sub-Zero and Viking, Viking was the only one that had it. And since I was very happy with my range, I got a Viking refrigerator. I like the lighting in both the refrigerator and the freezer, and it's doing an excellent job of keeping the food cold. It's a very good product. And their team answered all my questions before I went forward with the purchase. Also, everybody was very knowledgeable of my questions when I called their 800 numbers and was very helpful.

Thank you for sharing you experience with us. We are happy to hear you were able to get all of your questions answered and are enjoying your appliances

The store I went to had the Viking refrigerator at 18 months with no interest. But I had a horrible experience. They had a typical salesman who was just selling a product. But I'm not very happy with the refrigerator. The door was bent a little and when I called the store for the warranty, they told me that I had to call Viking myself. A store should have a department to take care of the warranty for the product and not me calling 200 people to the warranty service. It was difficult.
And the process that Viking had with their warranty made me feel like they didn't care about their customers. I called several times and they didn't know which companies in my area could take care of my appliance and they asked me to call the companies. I called several but they said they didn't work for Viking warranty. There was a lack of communication. If I’m a company and a customer that buys stuff in San Diego, I'd know exactly which to call. It took several calls for me to get what I wanted. I had to wait for a company to come from LA, I live in San Diego, to come to my house to do my repairs. The tech showed up two weeks later. ut because he said there wasn't anything wrong with it, I had to fix the fridge myself. I work in the maintenance division.
I will not buy another Viking in my life as I would have paid something cheaper with the same quality. I could have bought a GE or an Electrolux and I would have gotten the same result or better. Availability of parts is better too. I’m a reasonable person. If you spend about $14,000 on an appliance, they should treat you better. Right now, I try to order parts for my refrigerator because parts are not available. The appliance model number is also not in the system yet.

We’ve always used high-end appliances and we have always used Viking. For the second house we purchased, the appliances came with it but with the first house, we purchased appliances and it was either Viking or Wolf, and we just went with Viking. The refrigerator is usually good. I also liked the size our refrigerator. We’re a little disappointed that it broke and to have a repair so quickly after moving in. The refrigerator stopped cooling, which is a pretty big thing for a high-end refrigerator. For appliances that are so expensive, we expect, number one, not to have as many necessary repairs as we have had in the past; and number two, we expect the experience to be more seamless when we do have that.

We were looking to upgrade our appliances and we knew that when we upgraded we were going to get something like Viking. We knew we wanted to get something higher end. We purchased through Best Buy because the Best Buy at Mall of Georgia had just become a dealer with Viking. But it was the worst experience that we’ve ever had in our whole entire life. We would never buy from them again but it wasn’t because of Viking per se.
I wasn’t impressed with the refrigerator. There was an issue with the condensation in the back of the fridge. It was dripping down and it caused rust stains. They’ve determined we needed another part but that part has been recalled. The customer service has been wonderful, though. They have been really easy to work with. They sent a repair service guy who was very knowledgeable and had offered some advice as to what to do. Viking then went ahead and called us, and said that they were going to just replace the fridge altogether. They are now in the process of issuing us a new refrigerator.

When moved into a brand-new house, our Viking refrigerator came with it together with a stove and dishwasher. I like the refrigerator's big drawer that's underneath the space for vegetables and fruits. So far, we already had some huge part replaced on it which cost about $2,000. We called Viking about it and they gave us the repairman that they recommended. The repairman came out and the refrigerator got fixed a month ago. But I can hear the sound starting to build up again so I'm a little concerned about that.
Other than that, I've had an awful experience with the dishwasher. It broke and it took almost three months to be replaced because they couldn’t fix it. So I went all the way through Thanksgiving and Christmas without a dishwasher. They finally replaced it by the end of November because they could never get the part in. As for the oven, as expensive as it is, we already had to have a $3,000 replacement part for it. That was done about two weeks ago but when I turned it on yesterday to cook dinner, the part’s already broken. So, I need to have a repairman come again and replace it or fix it again because it will turn on to 350 but it won’t change temperature. When the appliances are working, it’s great but when it doesn’t work, it is horrible. Viking doesn’t come to replace things and the quality of their products doesn’t hold up to what the expense is going to cost.

I am only writing this review here because I see that Viking actually monitors this and sometimes responds. The salesman at Pacific Sales was pushing this brand over others and especially over Sub Zero, stating that they are owned by a new company and the customer service has become much better. I have written to Viking three times, 11/15, 11/22, and again around 11/30 to tell them to pound sand. Since it had been 15 days with zero response to my requests from them, they clearly aren't interested in my business. The saddest part is that my second response was to have a representative look at my existing appliance, and that I may choose to just replace it, depending on the quote they offered. Nothing from them. I refuse to consider spending $10k on a refrigerator with a company who can't answer two different requests after 15 days. I guess they don't need my money, so I'll spend more at SZ when this one finally dies.
UPDATED ON 03/25/2018: The Viking refrigerator that I had broke down and I replaced it with the same one. I did not want to spend over $10,000 on a refrigerator except that the hole in my house fits that one and it was more affordable than the Sub-Zero. I really wanted the Sub-Zero, but I didn’t want to spend an extra $6,000.
Viking's website is terrible. If you put in a request for information on their website and submit the button, you do not get a response. I was looking for somebody to service the broken refrigerator and to check it out because maybe I didn't need to replace it. But they did not respond and I had to go to the website to complain about them. They reached out to me through the website and told me that they don't have access to the the account that those emails go to since the new company bought them a few years ago. I told them that they need to update their website so they could have access. They apologized but they never pointed me to any person who could come and check my refrigerator. Their customer service is nonexistent and I’m banking on the warranty that I have with the store that I purchased the refrigerator from and the reps that they have there.

We originally had a Northland refrigerator and it had a single, swing-out door. We started looking for another ref and we decided to go with a ref with double doors. I opened every two-door, swing-out model and looked at the trays, shelves, drawers, and guides, and how well these were made and fitted. Compared to their competitors, Viking had the product with the best custom interior and guides for drawers and shelves, and they were hands down above all the other ones that we saw on the market. Also, our experience with the dealer was excellent. They do a nice job and we buy a lot of appliances from them. The ref we got from them is nice and we like it. It keeps our food cold and frozen the way it's supposed to and everything is operating the way we expected, so we're happy with it. We like the double doors too. Buy from Viking. They do their homework well.

Thank you for the review. Viking is happy to hear how much you love your refrigerator.

I build houses for a living and I've used Viking products quite a few times because I was flipping the house. The people in the marketplace can identify with the brand but over the last few years the quality of Viking has come down a bit. I purchased from Universal Appliances in Studio City and it was usually good.

The fan of the Viking refrigerator we purchased was annoyingly loud. I have very sensitive hearing and it’s getting me crazy. We also purchased a Viking Range which I like it, but I had some issues with it. And they were not able to completely resolve it without tearing out the range and putting a new one in. When I had service on it, the gentleman said that the very low that's almost like a buzzing sound was just normal for the refrigerator. It sound like I have a constant bumblebee in my home.
When I was choosing what refrigerator to buy, I’ve heard nothing but grief from people who are dealing with Sub-Zero, so that eliminated that one immediately. And the other two that I was familiar with were Viking and Thermador. I have a Thermador range in my second home and I’m not thrilled with it so I eliminated that. So I went with Viking and was holding my breath when I did. However, I was misled by the salesman. It was a significant purchase that was almost $12,000. He led me to believe that we were going to get 10% off our purchase back based on the program that Viking was running. But when I read the fine print of the information, that obviously was not the case and I haven’t even had a chance to submit my paperwork. But all in all, I had a good experience as far as the refrigerator, the delivery and the installation were concerned.

Word has it that Viking is known for good quality so I got a brand new Viking refrigerator. I like the area where I could keep my vegetables in a low humidity which actually worked. It’s really nice and I appreciate that. My old refrigerator didn't have that. When my Viking refrigerator was about a month old, there was a big tray of water that was piling up underneath it. Good thing I caught it because I heard it dripping. Otherwise, it would have flooded our floor. The first technician who came and fixed it didn't know why it did that but he changed some stuff around and the fridge supposedly worked. The icemaker has also frozen up and was not making ice for some reason, and he didn't fix that either. He just defrosted it and said that it was working now, which made no sense to me. All he did was fix the symptom but he didn't fix the problem. He also didn’t seem to know what he was doing and was not good at all.
Then we had to get another tech to come in because there was condensation at the bottom of the door. When the next guy came in, he said the fan that was supposed to be down there wasn't working. He turned the fan on and turned the switch for the drip pan down there so that the heater kept the pan dry. The refrigerator is working fine now and it's keeping everything cold. But considering that it's brand new, it shouldn't be doing all those things. It may or may not clog up again in another year or six months because we don't know why it clogged up. So it's oversold and underdelivered.

We've had our Viking fridge for five years now and our experience has been very good. We had a problem with the compressor and because it's under warranty, we called Viking Refrigerators a few weeks ago to have the piece repaired, and we had a very good service. Initially, we were renovating the kitchen and we wanted a fridge that is not too deep and that is bigger than the standard and we thought that the Viking was the one we needed. We like that we can easily find things in the fridge because it's only 24 inches in depth. The only thing is we were a bit disappointed with the cheap drawers because they're plastic and everything was cracked. So for the price we paid for the fridge, the drawers should have been of a better quality. The person who came to change the compressors said that it would cost us a big amount to change the drawers, so we will keep them with all the cracks.

All my appliances are Viking and we've had problems with the refrigerator and the dishwasher so I'm not happy for the price that we paid for them. We've only had the refrigerator for two years and it has already broken twice. The condenser in the freezer broke and thankfully it was under warranty. Otherwise, it would have been a very expensive replacement. Another time, the thing that stopped the door from opening all the way broke and had to be replaced.
The claims process was relatively easy though. The company that we had purchased it from came out and they took care of it. The dealership was wonderful and they stood behind helping me out. But apparently, after we go out of warranty, then it becomes a very difficult repair since we have to get in contact with Viking directly. And in my experience, trying to do that was very difficult. Even to find out if my products are under warranty, Viking can't even tell me how long my warranty is on them and I'm overall dissatisfied.

I've had the refrigerator for a couple of months and I'm very happy with its quality. I like the new LED lights and the French doors. The refrigerator is beautiful and it works well. Our previous refrigerator was a Sub-Zero, and Viking has more cubic feet of space than the Sub-Zero. The interactions with the Viking reps were fine. We bought it at Best Buy and had a helpful sales clerk there. We happen to hit a sale which also helped out. They provided delivery service and that was seamless. The guys carried the refrigerator in and placed it on the floor. They hooked up the icemaker, pushed it back in the hole, turned it on, and away they went.

I bought a new home and the Viking refrigerator and the freezer were purchased by my builder through a supplier. I like the space because it's a full-size refrigerator and I have great lights on the side of the inside of it and along the top, so it's easy to see things. The fridge looks nice but I've had some issues with it. It was making a terrible noise and then it went away. I didn't get around calling the repair people. Also, I was working and while I was away on vacation and my daughters were home this summer, the refrigerator lost cooling. So, the repair people came and they had to replace the circuit board which was odd. Prior to that, we had some drips in the back of it and then it went away and now it's back so I have to call someone again. It's an expensive refrigerator and I'm disappointed in its performance when it has, supposedly, had a good name and many years behind it. It has failed a couple of times and it's only a year old.

Their people already came out twice to try and fix it but they have been unsuccessful and they’ve replaced a part the last time. Other than that, the Viking reps are very nice and cooperative. We’ve got other Viking appliances that work extraordinarily well. We have a Viking oven, a cooktop, and a microwave and they’re great. However, I'm very disappointed with the refrigerator because it was only three months old and one of the blades of one of the fans inside was already broken and another fan wasn't hooked up in the bottom. I've always known about Viking Refrigerators for a long time and it was in the house that we purchased. There was a Viking Range, a Viking refrigerator, and a stove then. I was replacing an existing Viking refrigerator that was about 17 or 18 years old. It was built-in so I was looking for something that would fit into the exact space where it was. And when I went to the appliance store, the salesperson at the appliance store steered me to Viking. I was buying a refrigerator and a dryer that day and he showed me something else but he strongly suggested the Viking and since I didn’t have any negative feelings about Viking, I went with it. This refrigerator will be the third refrigerator and the first one kept having problems. It would freeze up and the icemaker wouldn’t work. The refrigerator section would heat up to about 43 degrees and the freezer would get down incredibly cold.
I had six service calls on it and finally, the service guy said, “I think we need to get this thing replaced.” So Viking replaced it after several weeks and sent a new one out to Asien’s Appliance here in Santa Rosa and they delivered it. However, the guys that delivered it couldn’t align the doors properly. The refrigerator section was about half inch or a bit lower. The door was lower than the freezer side so I called the people that handle the warranty repairs again and the guy came out and looked at it. He said that there was something wrong with it and maybe it was dropped. He couldn’t fix it and jury-rigged it so the door worked. For a while, the door wouldn’t even close but then he worked on it again and he got the door to close by taking some part out. I got word that Viking set up a delivery of a replacement for that one. This will be the third one and hopefully, it will be okay. I wouldn’t recommend them to a friend but at least Viking is faithfully standing by their warranty.

I used to live in another house that was already built by someone else and they had Viking appliances. I am used to Viking and I didn’t have any problems back then and I was happy with the appliances. But now, I’m having trouble with the new appliances and mainly with the refrigerator. I had it replaced in March because of a water leakage and the new one is doing exactly the same. It is noisy, too. I tried to get the new one back in November from last year. And then, they sent me the fridge but not the freezer because the freezer was working right. They said they will match them because they’re independent units, but when the guy opened the box, it didn’t match. The handle and a couple of things that you can see were different. If you’re having your freezer beside your fridge, you want the handles to be the same height.
I had to talk to Viking for them to take back the fridge. They had to arrange if I had a new freezer because they didn’t have the previous model in stock since they stopped doing it. They sent me both a freezer and a fridge, and within four months, I’m having the same issue again. The technician who came to fix it was the one who came five times for the previous unit and he said there was nothing else he can do. He said he did everything that was possible to switch, to change, to check if it’s working, and it is still the same. When he was here a couple of months ago, he said that Viking was having a lot of problems with the fridge and all their refrigerators were having the same issues.
They don’t even know what is going on. The technician used to be a Viking technician and because Viking is having a lot of problems and customers are complaining about their fridge, he moved to another company. And the most recent time I called Viking, the same technician came to my house, but he was working for a third party who is giving service to Viking. I’m so disappointed and I’m tired of having a technician every four months and take everything out of the refrigerator for him to work on it for more than two hours.

We built a new home and bought a Viking refrigerator floor model through a dealer. I had a built-in before, and I was happy with it, so I went with that particular refrigerator. I like the built-in because it’s not deep and things don’t get lost in the back of the refrigerator. I love my Viking refrigerator, but I’ve had eight or nine service calls on it and the people who came and serviced it have been excellent. When the refrigerator arrived, there was an issue with water coming out of the bottom of the door, and they replaced that, and then it wouldn’t make ice or water, so they changed out a harness, the water pump and the icemaker. It makes ice, but after they put in the new icemaker, the lever stops when the ice fills up, so a part was ordered and the people are coming this week to replace that.
The dealer has been absolutely awesome on service and responsiveness and their staff has come out and dealt with every single problem I’ve had. However, I bought an eight-burner gas range through Pacific Kitchen & Home and I would not purchase through them again. When the range was delivered, the door needed adjustment and it’s been a nightmare to get somebody to come out through Pacific Kitchen to service it. I had to reach out to Viking directly to get any kind of service and they’re coming out this week as well. Hopefully, once everything is all in good working order, it’ll be well worth it. I also have a Viking dishwasher, which is fabulous and I'm very happy with it.

We re-did our kitchen and we wanted nice appliances. I bought my Viking Refrigerator through an appliance place in Silver Spring. I researched online and I know it's a high-end appliance. I also found the spec sheet and the warranty online. I bought Viking because of the name and the quality, but now, our refrigerator is a little over a year old and the icemaker broke. I have given to my daughter the cheapo refrigerator I took out of my kitchen when I bought the Viking refrigerator and that works fine. We already spent over $3000 on our Viking refrigerator and it should last longer than a little over a year. I like the refrigerator a lot with its space and the way it's laid out, but I need ice and I've been buying ice now for a couple of months. I've owned a lot of refrigerators in my lifetime and I've never had an icemaker go bad.
Viking answered my phone calls but they were adamant. I have my own business and I don't treat my customers that way. When there is a problem, I take care of it. I was under the impression that I had a two-year warranty but Viking changes their warranty whenever they feel like it. The Viking rep told me that I should have looked at the floor model at the place where I bought it and reviewed the warranty there, but they didn't even have a floor model there. Since I'm very persistent and I didn't give up, they finally agreed to supply the part after multiple phone calls. Then they're supposed to send the part but they didn't and it's another week I have to wait now. I'm very disappointed for the amount of money I paid for this refrigerator. The cost to have the icemaker fixed, with the labor and everything, was $650 and that is a lot of money! I thought about getting a whole new refrigerator but they decided to replace it. So, hopefully, the new one won't go bad.

I bought a Viking range, dishwasher, and refrigerator at the same time. I heard it was a pretty good brand and I liked their looks. I've had them for six months and so far so good. We purchased from a Viking dealer and the refrigerator is competitive with others in the price range. They came within five days after I ordered. It was a pretty good delivery and they didn’t do any damage when they came to the house. However, it's hard to set up a service with them. They need better customer service availability, like on weekends. We’re happy with the overall quality, however, it's easily scratched and stained with oily fingerprints. I think that goes for all stainless appliances though.

I bought a refrigerator from Viking Refrigerators because of their reputation. All the competitors had worse reviews. But right now I'm not happy with the unit we got because we had a couple of washers fell out. We've contacted Best Buy from which we purchased it about it and they sent out a technician to fix it the first time. I have yet to hear back about fixing it the second time. Also when it got delivered the doors are misaligned. Best Buy told us that they would take care of it for us but it's been two months. They can't seem to send out a certified Viking technician. We also worked with someone who's certified to fix Viking and he told us that the fridge is probably on its way out and that we should consider buying a new one. The door of the refrigerator already had to be repaired and its ice maker's drawer can't be pulled out smoothly ever since. The oven's door also had to be repaired because it was bent, and it took them eight months to get the part. Viking, however, constantly called me back to say they were still trying to get it or they'd gotten a part in and it was broken so they're waiting again. I bought a condo recently and it came automatically with the Viking appliances. I've heard about Viking and the quality, but this is the first time I'm having one. I like the way the fridge looks, the style and the way it works. It's a solid refrigerator but I had a few issues with what they call condense heating. Sometimes in the summer when it was a little too hot, the water would build up between the doors. I called up a couple of times and the team has been great. They reprogrammed the fridge and did some tweaking. They told me that the power saver has to be on basically in the summer, not in the winter. I had it on and supposedly it was condensing because of that. But that was not the issue. It still does whatever it was doing before, but not as often. When I have a heater on in the apartment and it's warm, that's when I see the issue. Other than that, everything is normal and it's not an issue where I cannot do without either.

We have a lot of friends who own Viking appliances, both refrigerators and stoves. This is our first Viking fridge and we love it. I like the bottom drawer for the freezer 'cause we got the big swing door. It was a little bit hard to install because it had to be in a wall unit. Other than that, we're happy with the product itself. We were fine with the dealer, however, we are still missing pieces of equipment, such as pieces of trim. We had someone from Viking come over and he supposedly ordered the trim pieces. It's been a month and we still haven't seen him though. Then, there's a spacer between the hinged top when the door swings open that was broken. We are missing that little barrier in between, to keep it from swinging more than 180 degrees. Still, I would recommend Viking refrigerators.

The Viking is the first built-in refrigerator I have ever had. I am very happy with the way the interior is designed. Everything functions well in the refrigerator portion. I do however find it is a bit difficult to take apart and clean. The exterior door does not open wide enough to remove the bins and shelves easily. It is hard to maneuver. I am also happy having the freezer on the bottom. It makes it very easy to use.
I have had no problems with the refrigerator however I had a very severe problem with the freezer. For some reason the small drain where the defrost water cycles got clogged up. This I think is quite difficult to do as it is behind a whole plastic wall. But it happened and the freezer froze full of ice and the door would not open. It was a total mess. The service man who repaired the freezer said that the Viking factory does not install a small part in the drains that would have alleviated this problem because of the fact that then the refrigerator would no longer have the economy rating it has. I do not know if this is a true statement or not but it was what I was told. I want to say that fortunately this occurred three days before the three-year warranty expired as it was an extremely expensive repair.

The man showed up with the new unit and fixed the recall on the recalled unit.
Well, that was in 2011, it is now 2017 and guess what? I am in the same shape as I was before. However, no deal. I have fallen on pretty much deaf ears. You can even YouTube funny skits about it, but the techs will look at you like you are the only person in the world. I have a mental block on that beeping noise when the compressor goes out and I am about to lose all my food. Good news though, I just found out they are indeed suppose to defrost themselves. So, if you are a gambler, like taking chances... maybe just maybe you will be lucky enough not to deal with what I have. Cheers!

Viking was having a deal where if you buy three of the main appliances, there would be a discount so I bought their refrigerator. It has a little space on the bottom that can fit a whole pizza box and I like that. It also has a wide freezer that has a lot of storage space in the separate freezer. But the unit has been with me for less than two years and it already needed repair. There was an electronic component on the defroster that went out. It was still under warranty, so I went back to the appliance store and got the name of the person that they recommended. I had to go online and make sure they had the warranty information and had to schedule a repair. Then they had to order the parts and the repairman had to come back a second time to install them.
Aside from that, every one of the plastic drawers that pull out has hairline cracks. I talked to them about getting those replaced and Viking told me that since it's a cosmetic issue, it's not covered by the warranty. Also, when we were doing the repair and were taking out the glass shelving, the glue on the bracket that attached it to the glass came off. It's not a big deal because it sits on the glass, but it’s another example of why I don't see the unit as high-quality, like how the repair and appliance people described it.
I also bought a Viking range and it works well but the preheat cycle takes a long time. I wish that there was more versatility and I would do away with the grill and just have a griddle that was two chambers wide. I was also disappointed that it doesn’t have a clock or automatic cut. So I feel that for what I paid for, I got a very low-tech item.

The problem was the freezer temperature was 14 degrees higher than preset. And the refrigerator part, the upper shelf temperature was 10 degrees below the preset, so all the yogurt are frozen. The Kenmore refrigerator in my garage lasted 10 years, and my Sub-Zero lasted 20! When I called customer service, it took 2 days for them to tell me they would be out in 8 more days! No. They final acquiesced and agreed to come earlier... but they tried to make me wait more than a week. I threw away several hundred dollars worth of food and, evidently, several thousand dollars on sub-standard, overpriced "professional" appliances. I would steer anyone away from Viking!!! I also ran into some issues with the sales department at Viking not sending somebody out to fix the door right away when the door wasn't closing properly. It was a handle that was loose and it wasn't anything I could fix myself. It had to be done by an appliance repair person.
But once I got the refrigerator in the house and everything was up and running Viking was good about coming out and having an appliance repair person come out right away. Also the design is good. The French door-- it's a convenient arrangement. You can access the drawers with only one drawer open so you don't let as much of the cold air out. Also the buttons that you push to change the temperature up and down are easily accessible and it is great. I also have a brand-new Viking dishwasher and an under counter refrigeration unit so I have three major appliances through them. Viking has been good overall.

I totally agree with the review submitted on October 11, 2017. I had the same experience. I purchased my Viking side by side refrigerator in 2013. Over the Labor at weekend that year it stopped working. Had to wait 4 days for service under the warranty. The repair person found that the cooling fan blade was never attached to the condenser causing the motor to overheat & shut down - it was still in its original packaging. I asked if any damage to any other cooling component could be caused because the fan not being installed. That situation never set well with me.
Fast forward to Sunday October 22, 2017 - The refrigerator shut down overnight. I contacted Viking directly for service under the Six Year Full Warranty. The customer service rep had not a clue about warranties outside of the initial 3 year window. I had an authorized Viking repair person come out the same day & was advised that the "inverter board" was burned out shutting down the fan & compressor. He was puzzled why this part would go out in such a short period of time.
After explaining to him what had happened in 2013 he suspected that excessive wear could have caused the current problem. Unfortunately the inverter board is not covered under the manufacturer's 6 Year Full Warranty. The cost for parts & labor was estimated at $600. The good news is that I have a home warranty that will cover this repair for $65.00 trade fee. The repair person who came out is also an authorized service provider for my home warranty company. On the spot, while he was here I was able to place a service call with my home warranty company & have the call assigned to him. I was very lucky!
As stated in the review posted on October 11, 2017, I too have a refrigerator purchased in 1996 for $150.00 that is still working like a champ - located in the garage. Love the look of the Viking product, however, I always feel uneasy about its reliability - I feel I almost have to have a spare, back up refrigerator & not to buy too much food. It's being used as my primary fridge right now while I'm waiting for parts & final repair on October 26, 2017. 3 days of downtime so far. Currently using Igloo coolers positioned in front of the 4 year old Viking fridge in the kitchen & trekking back & forth to the garage to get food out of the spare 21 year old fridge. How ironic...

In real estate, we do remodels and cater to higher-end clients. We want them to be able to move in and be comfortable, and we thought Viking had a good reputation. The tenants are paying a premium to be in a nicer place and if they’re having issues, it's not okay. The refrigerator we purchased for a high-end rental home has been repaired twice since we purchased it. There was an issue with one of the motors in it, so it wasn’t cooling. It’s brand new and very expensive and it’s supposed to be a high-end product. We're very unhappy with it and it's frustrating for me to get multiple calls from the tenant because their food is spoiling and they have children.
The process to get the refrigerator repaired by Viking was incredibly lengthy, difficult, and not done in a timely fashion. Dealing with them was incredibly time consuming and the first repair process took a month. We had issues with the dishwasher that was brand new as well. It was supposed to be replaced, but it wasn't and it took more than a month to get the replacement part for it. I had to call multiple phone numbers and did not get called back. I was told by repair companies that they had been bought out by a different company. They also told me that they had been receiving numerous calls with quality control issues with Viking and that they were constantly on repairs for Viking, and that it was something that they had noticed as well.
Viking is not the product we would use again because of the issues we’ve had with it. I’m not pleased and I would not buy Viking again. It goes for the high-end tenants as well. These renters are currently building their own home and they could choose whatever they want, but their experiences made them not want to put Viking in their multi-million-dollar homes.

I bought Viking Refrigerators from a distributor. This particular fridge was counter depth so it was custom to the kitchen we had and they said it will last a lifetime. However, my experience wasn't the best especially for the cost and the headaches as there was some damage done to the product in the initial delivery so I had to get the entire refrigerator replaced. There had been a long series of emails to the distributor. They kept on probing me, asking for pictures until I got fed up and said, “Look, if you're not going to replace it, I'll work with the warranty to try to get it fixed". They got the management involved and eventually got back to me to have it replaced.
It took about two weeks to replace the entire fridge and when we operated it a bit, we started building condensation around the freezer drawer. Since we already installed it, we had to deal with the repair under warranty instead of getting it replaced again. We had a few parts repaired since then and it’s been a cycle dealing with it for four months. According to the repair person, it seems like it's a common issue with that product specifically. We had to get the freezer drawer replaced because it may have been an insulation problem. The repair folks came two times to consult and twice to actually repair. I just had the last repair last week and they told me to see if there would be any other issues. It was a lengthy process to get the fridge here but I’m hoping that everything is going to be fine now.

Viking Refrigerators have been around for some years and they have a good reputation. I like the refrigerator size and the whole refrigeration system works good. They set up the refrigerator pretty good and it was easy to get through when I called them. I appreciated that the technician we had was very competent. He came and knew exactly what the problem was that we've described to him.
One concern that I had was that the condensation tray was collecting water and sometimes would overflow almost to the floor which I had to empty several times. So, he explained that they turn the little fan off at the factory that helps with the evaporation rate because they want to lower the sound so to pass either the sound regulation or energy consumption rate. And at the request of their consumers, they come in the house and turn it back on which got me a little confused as to why they do that and they didn’t tell me ahead of time.
Also, I noticed there was a lot of molds building in the previous tray when we pulled it out. They told me this tray was treated for mold which I don't know how true and I would like to get more information about that. I had a health concern and I wouldn't want a tray sitting full of water for a long time that bacteria can collect and fungus can grow in it. But the overall quality of the refrigerator is very nice.

I knew Viking from the installation in multiple houses from friends but in this particular case, the builder had Viking as the official product to be selected from. We didn’t have an option but to select within Viking products. It's a good brand though and I like their refrigeration products' look, that the drawers close softly and that it works. I would recommend them with a caveat of what the person might be looking for exactly. For example, this refrigerator doesn’t have the option to access water or ice from outside the door so it’s just practical issues depending on how you want to use it and what is your preference.

We heard that Viking Refrigerators was the top end and it's for a house that we're going to be in for a long time. However, we've had a lot of issues since day one. Plus, we're still waiting for the repairman to come out. We have issues with the hinge and the doors not closing. There's a problem with the leveling and the rack on the bottom. The wheels are on backorder and the handle is loose. We've had a number of repairmen come out but the parts are still on backorder. It's been three months and it's been a disaster. The sales rep was fine though.

Viking Refrigerators was terrible. You pay $10,000 for a refrigerator so you expect it to work longer but there were problems twice. My wife tried to go to Viking’s helpline on the web and got discouraged. We finally had to call and talk to somebody to find out. Viking sent out the claim to different companies but they had to order the parts. It keeps going around looking for the correct person to call to start with. Apparently, this other company dispatches work to the company in Dallas and they sent in the information but it never got there. The lady in Dallas was very helpful, she told us who we need to call and made things happen but the backend was terrible.

Our house had a Viking refrigerator installed when we purchased it. I had a problem with the refrigerator's drawer so I spoke with their team and they were great. They said the drawer that I wanted was back stocked. They'd shipped it to me as soon as they had it in stock but it took about a month and a half. I’m also having problems with the controls. The usual temperature for a refrigerator is 30 degrees and they recommended zero for the freezer. But when I do that, the top shelf which is the refrigerator side gets frozen. We also found out that our icemaker was making noises because there was no water supply, so I had people come out in maintenance. The person who serviced it said that I could be blocking the vents, so we removed stuff in the vents but the refrigerator still does that.

Viking has been on our radar for quite a long time and it was something that my wife wanted to buy again since our prior experience in another property. She liked the product and we had good luck with it. We purchased the refrigerator over a year ago and I’ve registered the warranty information in the last few months. I like the appearance of the stainless look to the refrigerator, the layout inside and its capacity. I like it much better than my refrigerator here at home. The product itself is excellent and the Viking dealer was great at selling it. However, the installation focus was not what we hoped for since we had some issues with it but we got that rectified. Viking vet on the dealers very carefully to make sure that they’re being represented well because installation will make or break someone’s view of the product sometimes. They have to make certain that they honor the warranty in case it’s ever needed and to stand behind their product.

We bought a $9,000 refrigerator from Viking two years ago and we experienced some problems with it during Labor Day weekend. The freezer would work but the refrigerator part wouldn’t get cold. It was frustrating because we called the repair service but they didn’t have any record of us. So, we had to fax them the bill of sale and they said it would take three or four days for us to get into their system which was unacceptable because we had no refrigerator.
I called them on a Wednesday and they arranged for someone to come out. But they were tied up Thursday, Friday and the holiday, plus they didn’t work Saturday or Monday, so it was Tuesday when they came out. They looked around and found that there was a part that was supposed to be attached to a cooling conduit and it wasn’t. Apparently, they didn’t do it in the factory. So, their reps put a new part and left. Two days later, the refrigerator still wouldn’t get cold. I called the guy again and he came out a day later and found out that the fan in the refrigerator part wasn’t working. He replaced the fan but the refrigerator part still did not get cold.
So, we had to call him the third time. This time, he discovered that the conduit in the freezer was freezing up. They ordered the parts and it was going to be four days more before it came in. We were out of a refrigerator for a month and it was inconvenient. Finally, he put heaters in the conduit which they probably should have done in the factory when they made the refrigerator. It’s working fine now but I’m a little concerned now to be having all these problems. Fortunately, it was under warranty. But if something happens in another year when the refrigerator's out of warranty, it's on me. Those parts that they were putting in were quite expensive. Viking should’ve anticipated some of these problems. When you manufacture a refrigerator that costs that much money, you expect it to be working fine. I have an old refrigerator in my pool house that’s 30 years but still working perfectly and I paid $150 for it several years ago.

This house has a built-in Viking refrigerator and on the right is the all-freezer. The refrigerator is loud and the compressor was constantly running so the previous owner of this home had to have it replaced under warranty in 2016, which was only a year after he bought it. When we purchased the house in August 2017, and just before we closed escrow, he had to call Viking to get service because the temperature of the refrigerator was not keeping cold and there was a leak in the coil. The appliance is relatively new and that worries me but so far, the refrigerator's been keeping cold so I’m thankful for that.
But I am surprised at the compressor noise and we live in a development where the builder got Viking for all the units. I looked at several units when I was purchasing and I noticed the same noise in every kitchen because the floor plans are similar. It’s quite loud and it’s not infrequent. I even talked to the owner in one of the homes and she had changed out the Viking for a Wolf refrigerator. She said she did it because the Viking was so loud. Also, at first I was worried that there was a problem, but I looked at the freezer temperature and it’s constant at what it should be used. It just runs hard and it’s very sad to me because I’m going to end up having to replace it at some point. The refrigerator's features are reasonable, but for that kind of investment, I would never buy one of this. I have an experience with a built-in Thermador and that has superior quality compared to this Viking.

My Viking fridge is now completely out after 9 months and they will get to me after 10 days because they are busy, despite the fact that I told them I have small children. They use 3rd parties who don't care about anything, except to bill Viking. The oven works ok but in the first year all the temperature and oven controls (bake, convection bake, broil etc) have worn off, and it's not like I used steel wool to clean this, but really how is this even possible? The refrigerator section began freezing all food. A tech was sent out several times. The problem persisted. They replaced the unit twice before one worked properly. It will freeze everything about twice a year.
The second problem began about two years after installation. Water leaks out of the unit and the freezer section is constantly filling with water on the bottom. A tech said it was a common issue with the ice maker and that even if he replaced it the problem would return in a year. Once a month we break up the ice and remove it. No more water on the floor. Now the freezer door will not shut. When you close it and let go of the handle the door sags down and does not close. I have a tech scheduled but am fed up with the Viking brand. Never again.

It was defective and froze the whole compressed up -- we had to move everything to a cheap Kenmore freezer which has worked for years to keep until the part came in and the repair was made. Now 3 months later it is doing the same thing. This is either a defective unit or Viking is making junk and charging a lot for it. Next step for us is to demand a replacement for this side by side and if they won't do that we will sue for a refund! Sad that this brand has become junk!

We've not had it very long when we've had to have Viking come out and replace some bar that’s in the middle of the refrigerator that holds up the crispers and one of the doors that looks like it’s falling off. I've been very surprised that within a couple of months, such an expensive refrigerator needed to be repaired already. It's the professional grade line. Viking product was supposed to be sturdy in a professional kitchen. But I like the cabinet depth because it's easier to get things and gives you a lot more refrigerator space. Also, the way that I would look at the service through Viking, specific to one problem, was good.

It's also very disappointing that the part itself and labor are going to cost over $1,000. For the small part, I have to pay over $1,200. And I shopped around. It's been two months and so far, I've had a negative experience. When we bought the house and it came with the refrigerator and we thought it's guaranteed for three years but we found that it is only one year. That’s another bad thing. We have a wine refrigerator, regular refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, wall oven, range with a small oven, big oven, hood and stovetop. We have had a couple of issues with the big refrigerator we have. The first time, the meat or vegetable drawer at the bottom of the refrigerator section froze and ruined the vegetables, and we had someone out a couple of times to look at it. Finally, they said there was nothing they could do to fix it, so we increased the temperature for the overall refrigerator. It’s keeping the vegetables from freezing but the refrigerator is not at the suggested temperature. Also, the hinge on the bottom right of the refrigerator has gone bad and the door squeaks when it opens and closes. But I like having separate drawers. It’s a great idea as long as it works the way it’s supposed to.
Over the past week, we spoke with a gal named Veronica in customer service and she was great. We would have been normally forwarded to the warranty department but they were closed, so Veronica took the initiative to go to her supervisor and we were well-taken care of. That’s why we would buy another Viking appliance. I didn’t think the squeaking would be a big deal to fix but they have to put a whole new hinge and it costs $800. Viking is coming to fix it and they’ve been great about it ‘cause we’re just outside the warranty time. Everybody at Viking has been very good so I don’t mind if things go wrong if the company takes care of it. The showroom had a variety of refrigerators and we chose a Viking Refrigerator because it seems to fit our kitchen design the best. The three in line were Viking, Lock to Lock and Frigidaire. Out of those three, we felt that Viking had better components in the inside. It's a beautiful-looking refrigerator and has a lot of nice inside components. But, the quality of everything for the expense that I paid was not worth it. It frosts things in my freezer and I wouldn’t expect that from a high-end refrigerator like Viking. I have to adjust my temperature several times and I still haven’t gotten it right even if I've had the refrigerator for over six weeks. I had more issues with my Viking refrigerator than with my KitchenAid which I had for 30 years.
Also, when my refrigerator was installed, they weren't able to put the door handles on. I had to wait almost a week for the door handles to be on and that was unacceptable. The showroom that I bought it from dealt with Viking in making the arrangements. I only had to call and make the appointment. I got an appointment but it took me a week to get somebody and I wasn’t happy about that. They need to improve their customer service a little bit better. I was a little disappointed by how they handled the issue. They need to either put more sales or more workers to repair things in their docket so that if there was an issue I can get somebody out within 24 hours. Viking is one of the most expensive refrigerators so I am a little disappointed.

Also, a friend said that they would be better than Thermadors and Viking has a good reputation. But it had issues with the cooling that was running almost 24/7. It kept running and running and never shuts off except for five minutes and it will run for another six or seven hours. Then, opening the freezer door, it looked like a mist was coming in from the cooling bins where the cool air comes in. According to the sales guy, this indicates too much humidity but he didn’t really know where this was coming from.
We contacted the retailer and a guy came by and said there might be an issue. He suggested waiting until it’s in its final place because it's still in the living room. Then, he'd come by to level out the refrigerator and freezer appropriately and hopefully, the issue would be addressed. If not, they will have to provide some parts. It was a little disheartening considering it’s a brand new unit we paid a lot of money for. Therefore, we will know more in two weeks once it’s in its final place in the kitchen.

I've known Viking for decades. They were offering a rebate on the refrigerator so I went with them. I also had a free refrigerator and the range hood with blower, which made my purchase more enticing. Without them, I might have bought the unit from Sub-Zero and Wolf. I bought it from the Better Housekeeping over in Red Bank and the people I have dealt with were great. But the unit has a poor design and if I had to do it again, I will not purchase this refrigerator.
The spring on one of the doors has a sound and the ice tray was poorly made because on the first week I pulled it out and the handle snapped right off. The magnet of the butter tray on top isn't good and every time I pull the refrigerator, if I have a stick of butter inside, it falls out. Also, compared to a regular KitchenAid, which are the deeper refrigerators, Viking units are more counter depth, so in terms of storage there isn’t a lot of cubic feet in there to use. With my particular model, there are four trays for produce and those trays are much smaller so I can’t really put a lot of stuff in there.
I also have the Professional Series for the oven, which is the one with the French door. Even though it’s a beautiful look, it’s really stupid that it’s said to be self-cleaning but because there’s no latch for the French doors, it’s not the same kind of self-cleaning at the lower oven. It’s just like a steam clean kind of effect and stuff like grease doesn't come off. I also already had a problem with our blower on the fan where it was making a lot of noise and I’ve already had a service call on it. So to spend what I totally paid, which is at $25,000 for my entire kitchen, I really shouldn’t be expecting or experiencing problems like these within the first year. These are high-end products, and it’s a professional series, so it’s very disappointing.

I was so excited to have a large all refrigerator in my kitchen. It has had multiple cooling problems since day one. I think the real problem has never been diagnosed and is now so bad that it is not fixable. I have spent over $2000 on repairs and it still doesn't work.
The door is simply too heavy for the hinges and will not close in the top left corner. This produces massive condensation on the inside which freezes. It also causes uneven cooling where my vegetables in the crisper at the bottom are frozen and the milk on the middle shelf is warm. We have replaced the gasket and adjusted the hinges but it simply will not close the gap. This is a design problem. Disgraceful for a product that cost over $7000. We own a Viking refrigerator and double oven stove. There were problems from the beginning and we had numerous service calls while the appliances were under warranty. The stove. Upon first use there was a gas leak in one of the burners. A service company came and used dish soap to identify the source of the leak and repair it. Shortly thereafter, one of the burners would not light. The same service company returned and had to replace a wire. Within a few months, another burner would not light. Another wire had to be replaced. Keep in mind that the stove was nearly brand new. We then receive notice that a new part is needed to address a risk that the stove may light itself at anytime. It took a year to get the required part to fix that problem. Presently, the grill will not light.
The refrigerator. We have a Viking double door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. The bottom of the freezer fills up with water and turns to a sheet of ice. Then, once a day a large volume of water leaks from the freezer and covers the kitchen floor. Over time this has damaged woodwork throughout the kitchen. Looking at this page reveals that this is a widespread problem with Viking refrigerators. It is also apparent from the postings here how much it costs to repair this issue.
I am disappointed that this has happened with Viking appliances to so many people, but I am even more disappointed at the lack of customer care. We have called Viking a number of times to discuss these issues and have gotten nowhere. Rather than address known problems with their products, Viking customer service says you are on your own, call a service company and pay for the repair. At $200 for a diagnosis appointment followed by a second appointment with parts and labor charges, the costs of owning these appliances quickly add up. These are expensive, heavy duty, appliances that should not have so many issues. I believe that Viking owes it to its customers to stand behind their products and repair what are clearly flaws in design. Unfortunately, that isn't currently the case.

Viking refrigerator is very expensive at $13,000 plus tax. However, it was not that great because within a few months it stopped cooling down. On the contrary, it was warming up so it was losing a lot of food a couple of times. Luckily, it was under warranty so they replaced the fan, but that shouldn’t happen with a $13,000 refrigerator. I was not happy with that at all. We chose Viking because when we bought this house, they had used Viking professionals. We just wanted to match it when I replaced the dishwasher and the refrigerator. They have a good brand name that’s supposed to be really good quality, but it isn’t. I'm building a house in Malibu and I don’t think I'll get another Viking because of that experience.

Viking is sorry to learn you have encountered this issue. Naturally, we are concerned when we receive comments reflecting adversely upon the quality of our product. Viking Range makes every effort to manufacture products of the highest quality. Unfortunately, in spite of all the precaution taken to ensure the reliability of our product, occasional part failures may occur.

Viking refrigerators had the designs we were interested in so I bought from them. But the quality is very substandard. They had to replace the first refrigerator because it was defective. It took eight service calls with countless calls back and forth over a period of seven months to finally replace it. Then, they shipped a new one and before they installed it, the installer scraped off the insulation on the outside of the door. It was a custom ready refrigerator so we installed our own custom panel on the outside of the refrigerator. So now, we’re getting water drippage between the refrigerator door and the inside surface of the custom panel onto our hardwood floors. And the food is freezing inside the refrigerator.
I’ve been going back and forth with Viking for a couple of weeks about this and I found out that they changed the engineering on the door. They’re saying that they can have new doors installed but they can’t be held accountable if my custom panels won’t fit the door. They’re not giving me any help. I called Juanita, the supervisor in the customer service department and she doesn’t answer our calls and doesn’t return calls readily. It’s ridiculous. My whole kitchen was breaking. I have this very expensive 42-inch side by side refrigerator, the dishwasher and the warming drawer. All the appliances are Viking. And then I don’t get straight answers from them at all. It wasn’t a good experience. I would not recommend it.

I’ve had previous experience with Viking and I know its quality so I chose it over others. I like that the Viking refrigerator has more space but I had to return the original one that I purchased and get the same model. It's got an error code and it stopped cooling. It was still within the 14-day window that they gave me so I chose to replace it rather than repair.
I had a great purchasing experience with the team at Pacific Sales. However, when the delivery was supposed to take place with the first refrigerator, there was a reschedule. And I was not notified promptly. So, I had to make arrangements and then cancel them. With the second delivery, with the replacement unit, the same thing happened. I know they subcontract the delivery and it wasn’t a very positive experience. I was just trying to work something out with the salesperson because this was a big hassle - from the delivery, to the unit breaking down, to all that. So, he tried to do the best, gave us a gift certificate for $50, but we were not very encouraged. One mistake is fine, but twice and then a bad refrigerator. But there are always bad apples. So, I'm not judging the whole line because of one unit. It’s got a simple design and I still find it reliable.

Our experience with Viking was frustrating. They were a name that was familiar to me, I thought they were superior and that's the reason why we picked it. We bought a Viking refrigerator about three years ago. We had to service it because it would just go out constantly that we lost a whole truckload of food which we never got reimbursed for. It went this way in an average of every three months.
The dealer that we bought it from originally went out of business. With a product like this, once the dealer sells it, you don't deal with them anymore, you have to deal with Viking. The lady that my husband dealt with has been awesome. She was really nice but she didn't have the power to do anything. We had to push back pretty hard until they finally said, "Okay. You're right. We should give you a new one." It took us three years before Viking would even consider replacing the refrigerator and then they said no. They said they will send a service guy out but we refused.
We pushed the envelope a little bit because we spent $8,000 on this refrigerator and we probably threw away $8,000 worth of food because of this refrigerator. So, they finally ended up giving us another refrigerator and we've already had to have service out on it once. It was nothing big, the refrigerator door just wouldn't close and you would push the door to shut and it would just stay open so it was just an adjustment. We appreciate that they gave us a new one but we would never buy another Viking. You cannot even imagine how long it took us and how patient my husband was to get them to finally step up to the plate.

We remodeled our kitchen in the Fall/Winter of 2015, with appliances being installed in January of 2016. We purchased a Viking 5-Series Professional 48" side by side built-in refrigerator (Model VCSB5483SS), a Viking 3 Series dual fuel range, and a 30" Viking ventilation hood, and all have been in use on a daily basis now for 1-1/2 years. We had a couple of minor things during install (missing filters panels for the hood, and a broken knob on the range), all were taken care of very quickly. This review is for the refrigerator. Oddly enough, after we placed our order for the appliances, I starting looking at reviews - the horse was out of the barn at that point - and I didn't like what I saw. I thought I had made a $15,000 appliance mistake. That was mildly reinforced when after just 6 months, I noticed the freezer and fridge temps starting climbing one day. I freaked.
I monitored the temps for the next 24 hours or so and they weren't improving. I started calling for help, remembering the reviews I'd read about awful warranty service, or any service & parts availability for that matter. The first call I made confirmed all of that... Zero help from a company that reportedly was going to be there for us. "Oh, it's 6-months old, you need to clean the coils - we get these calls all the time this time of year" (July). I said, "No, there is something wrong, the coils are fine - it's brand new". (And according to the user's manual, the coils do not have to be cleaned under normal operating conditions).
I dismissed them and put my wife on the task as I had other things to tend to. She called Viking, who then gave her a phone number to a local independent service center - and wow - was I impressed! Not only was a repair person dispatched to our home that same afternoon, but he had the needed part (evaporator blower motor) on his truck! 30-45 minutes later, we were back up and running and have been since. Fully covered under warranty - no hassles whatsoever. I started chatting with the repairman, who was very professional, clean, and knowledgeable, expressing my concerns about the Viking product, and he responded by reassuring us that, yes, Viking has had issues, but they were working hard at improving their product and service shortcomings. I couldn't agree more. We are very happy to this day about choosing Viking.

The kitchen was already here when I bought the house and the person that lived in it before I did recommended the Viking Refrigerator to me. It's a good overall appliance. From one day to the next, it stopped cooling. The main machine was frozen and that's why the cooling could not get to the fridge. But now it's all fixed. I love Viking.

I'm very dissatisfied with my Viking Refrigerator. I find the design of the refrigerator really crazy. You have to open the refrigerator doors to get water out of a spigot inside the door, which when you're filling drips onto the bottom of the refrigerator. And we have been having horrendous problems with the door sticking at the bottom. We've had the freezer door fixed four times that it gets to the point where you just can't open it. The service company has been in four times and they pull it all out. They clean out all the ice and do everything they need to do and they put it back. It works better because when they arrived you couldn't open it at all. But once they leave it is still not working properly. I don't know what the solution is because A-1 Appliance solved it for maybe two days, three days, four days and then it just sticks again.

I built a $163,000 kitchen and Viking is the least expensive product I have in this kitchen and absolutely the worst. The refrigerator I've had since March still doesn't work. Everything went into the garage until it got its turn into the kitchen. A couple of weeks into it, every time I open it up, everything in the front seemed warm. I finally put an analog thermometer in there and it was reading 50 degrees. Overnight, it would cool down to about 45 and anything above 40 is spoilage.
I called Best Buy and they gave me Viking's number because I didn't purchase their three-year warranty. It already had a warranty on it and I didn't think I needed it. I called Viking and they gave me the number to Lakeview who had an Illinois number. Two days later, I still can't get in touch with Lakeview so, I called Viking again and they got on the phone with them. Lakeview called me back and set up an appointment. They got here three or four days later and looked at it. They're in my house for an hour and determined that this piece has a faulty seal that was supposed to be replaced per Viking. They said it will be in a few weeks but a month went by and they didn't have the part.
Finally, the piece comes in five weeks after this initial problem. I called Lakeview and told them their piece is here and for them to come put it in. They came in the next day and it was an Electrolux. It doesn't have anything to do with the refrigerator that I have and it's the wrong part. This tech is on the line for an hour and a half with Viking and determined that my refrigerator doesn't need this kit after all. It's some thermostat, little plug-in thing and he said they have that in stock and it will be here in a week. A week goes by and I called Viking because I could never get in touch with Lakeview. They said that since they have so many problems, they'd like to offer me $150 and exchange my warranty for six months. I asked how they would do that and they said they'll get back to me but two days and there was nothing.
I called Viking again and asked for the part and they said Lakeview decided to order a bunch of parts for a bunch of other customers in the same group as mine. Some of those parts are in and my part that's in stock is lumped up with a bunch of others that have broken Vikings. They finally decided to separate the shipment and in theory, the part was shipped to Lakeview but I still have not heard from anybody.
Also, I asked about the $150 and the six-month warranty and they said I didn't send them a receipt. Nobody told me that and I was very clear that I spent $1,000 to purchase a refrigerator and shove it into the garage so I can have a refrigerator in Dallas, Texas, at 102 degrees. But I'm going to get this part installed and I don't care about the $150 because they want me to prove that I bought a refrigerator. Instead of just offering something and giving it to me, they put these little strings attached to it. Also, I'm going to turn them in to the Business Bureau. I'm going to light up Best Buy, Google everybody on the planet and tell them what Viking has done. Everything is the worst.

We have six Viking appliances in our kitchen including the fridge. About three months ago our dog’s tail got severed in a piece at the bottom of the fridge. His tail kind of slid under there, and when he went to move out, it sliced his tail off. We stuck our hand under and felt these razor-sharp teeth, a toe kick across the bottom of the fridge. It was a terrible ordeal as my dog was in a ton of pain and lost a lot of blood. He had to be rushed to an emergency vet on a weekend to have two different surgeries and have his tail amputated. It was horrible for a while, but everything is okay now. The house is all cleaned up and my dog turned out to be okay.
My recent exchange with Viking was that I wrote them a letter to notify them of this danger of their appliance and to make them aware of the accumulating bills because of this. I also said in my letter that I have young daughters who are always right at my heels in the kitchen. Nobody is crawling around anymore, but my youngest is 5, so it's my concern. I called them and they gave me an address of a regional office. I mailed the letter off and within a week I got an email back and a phone call. Multiple people from different departments such as Human Resources and claims department, called me to check in and express very sweet concern for our dog. Someone from the claims department sent me a release to sign and I did.
They reimbursed me for every penny to have some of the furniture professionally cleaned from the blood sputter, and for the vet bills. They were prompt and courteous as could be, so it was good. They also sent somebody out here from a local appliance repair shop to replace that piece across the bottom of the fridge with a smooth panel that doesn’t have these grates in it. I wasn’t expecting that, and they were excellent. We like the quality of the fridge and we chose the set of Viking appliances that our builder suggested with our house. It's the look that I wanted, it's a brand that I respect and it's worked perfectly well for us. We've been pleased overall and would recommend Viking refrigerator. I would additionally suggest that people make sure to get this other base piece at the bottom that is in the original one I had, but I would definitely endorse the brand.

July of 2017, 5 years after purchase. Ice maker was not working, filtered water was not working correctly. Another repair bill of $840.26 to fix problem. We paid $2,800.00 and in just 5 years have had to pay another $1,173.62. Averaging over $270 a year. The washer has been the most disappointing appliance of the lot. It has less capacity inside than our previous Kenmore washer and we've had to replace the racks due to a binding problem. There is also an intermittent problem with the control panel on the washer. On the cook top, the small burner does not light reliably and the design of the cook top makes cleanup a real chore after every use. The performance of the cook top, oven, and refrigerator is great other than the problems mentioned.

I bought a refrigerator and a freezer from Viking Refrigerators because of their reputation. My favorite feature is the built-in lock. However, I'm not satisfied with them because of the issues that we're having and they're coming tomorrow to fix them. The drain at the bottom of the refrigerator doesn’t drain correctly so it fills up with water inside below the meat compartment and sometimes it runs onto the floor. On the freezer, we're having an issue with the icemaker. The service was the only contact I had with them. Our conversation went fine but the only problem was that I'm in a rural area. I had to wait six weeks for them to come over to where this was located to do service. That part has been a bit of a hassle. It was frustrating just because of the service issue.

I like the quality and the fact that Viking refrigerators are made in the US. We got one delivered in June and it was a $3,500 fridge, but there were many issues with it. The doors could not be adjusted and the panel on the bottom didn't lay flush. On the second day we had it, it went up to 80 degrees inside. It started heating up at about noon and then by that evening, it was around 84 degrees. My husband reset the fuse box the next morning at 6:00 AM. It must have rebooted it so it started working again.
When I spoke with the customer service representative, she told me they were not going to send somebody to look at it because it was working. I found that unacceptable because there was something wrong with it. There was moisture in the seal between the refrigerator itself and the freezer. I could see where the freezer had somewhat warmed up because there was icy buildup on the shelves.
Initially, I wasn’t that satisfied with the customer service with Viking. The freezer was lukewarm so we had the approved rep here in Hawaii come and look at it. He couldn't figure it out so we ended up ordering a replacement for it. The new one was delivered two days ago and I like the double door opening. Right now, though, I feel that I am satisfied but I hope something doesn’t go wrong because of the issues I've had.

Our cabinet maker thought that Viking was a good product and I bought my Viking appliances though him. I went to a mobile Viking showroom event and looked at all the Viking appliances for a new home. And if I did my whole kitchen in Viking, they would double the warranty. Instead of having the three-year warranty, it came with a six-year warranty. It was a great deal especially considering that I've had to have them come out repeatedly to fix things that’s been wrong with the appliances. Apparently, the quality of Viking has gone down considerably in the last several years and I hadn't realized that.
I've got two refrigerators and the parts are just cheaply made. One of them was delivered totally damaged. The shelving does not stay in place. The drawers don’t function properly and the components bend too easily. The refrigerators are less than two years old and half of the parts in each one of them are bent, have totally fallen out or had to be replaced several times already. It’s very poor quality.
When they installed the dishwasher, they didn’t put the bottom plate on the dishwasher correctly. Some of the parts have fallen out of it as well. They’ve also had to come out several times and fix the valves in the dishwasher. But the worst is the range, which has never functioned properly. It’s terrible considering I now have $40,000 worth of useless appliances in my home.
The person that I contacted to get warranty service was extremely helpful and walked me through the process of getting everything registered. The problem was that they did not want to honor the double warranty on my appliances. Luckily, I had saved the original invoice and was able to forward it to them so that they could put into my record that it was covered for six years.
I've told everybody that I've come in contact with to stay away from Viking, which is sad because my husband is a home builder. We could sell tons of Viking appliances. But we buy all of the appliances for the homes that we build from Ferguson here in Raleigh and they have quit carrying the Viking appliances because they have so many problems with them. Plus I will never have another thing that’s Viking in my home. It’s terrible. We’ve had problems with everything Viking.

I bought a whole Viking kitchen and I think it sucks. Since I've had it, it's been nothing but repairs and still repairing it. The first issue was the food would freeze in the refrigerator. They came out and put a heat blanket on the side and that worked for a while. But it started doing it again. The other issues were the ice dispenser tray started becoming defective and the corner is kind of rusting out. Then, the compressor fan motor went out and plastic in the vegetable drawer tray started falling out. They weren’t screwed in correctly and they had to replace those.
Other than the customer service, I've been using a myriad of their service vendors. Then, they call and say they're not using them anymore. They don’t have to buy parts. They got bought out and they come back under another name. Also, when they need to get a part, they don’t have it. So, it takes maybe three to four weeks before you can get the subcontractor to get the parts in to repair your appliance, which is ridiculous. It takes forever for parts to come out. They don’t even have some of the parts that should be in stock for the refrigerator. I had to go get it on my own, even though it should have been covered. I decided to go and buy one and find it on Google. Now, I'm waiting for parts for them to come back and fix the refrigerator, which is freezing on the refrigerator side. It freezes everything on the top shelf. For every single year, it's been like this.

You should get a new drawer." So I called the parts people and after waiting on hold for an hour, I finally got someone who said they would be sending something over. It was supposed to be here two weeks ago and it hasn't arrived yet. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was wonderful. And I was going to have to leave for the next day so I just had to wait. And it takes about between three and four days to fill the bin of ice. We tried to use some of the functions where it says excel ice where it leads the user to think that it speeds up the time of making ice. But it still takes three days to fill the little bin in there. I bought my first Viking Professional eight years ago for aesthetic purposes and alleged reliability. Unfortunately, the freezer section broke down five years into it and I subsequently had to pay $1,000 to get that fixed. Where I am now, all of the built-ins of the Viking Professional line were already installed when I got here and six months into using it, one of the the refrigerator sections broke down even though my freezer section was cooling.
I had not registered my refrigerator, but the customer service center expedited the service and the authorization code to the local service center so that we could address it quickly. Luckily, the repair guy had the part on hand or I would have been sitting without a refrigerator for a week or two if he had to order it. But he told me that he has seen this before with all the built-ins. The one that I have retails for $12,000 and if I'm paying top of the line for the Viking Professional line, I expect some type of reliability. So I'm a little disappointed. They probably didn’t engineer a certain piece correctly and in the manufacturing world, that may cause the piece to break down sooner rather than later or stop functioning the way it needs to.
I have friends who use Sub-Zero, which has a price point that's a little higher, and I have other friends who have Wolf. When I benchmark my peers' and what we have, mine’s average in terms of reliability. I don’t know their everyday details but I expect a little more reliability especially for the first five years of a product. Viking Professional is perceived as a high quality brand appliance and I think the salespeople and the dealer provide service to the best of their knowledge, but my personal experience has been such that I question the reliability of it. It hasn't met my expectations and unfortunately, I can't return it either.

The fridge keeps breaking as far as the doors and the cooling system and the ice machine doesn’t work. I made lots of phones calls and I’ve been talking to their customer service team several times. They ordered the parts that were in back order and took months to get here. The first time something broke, I was without the doors and the condiment shelving for about three months. And when I called, they said they’re still in back order and they couldn't tell me when they’d get here. Finally, they got here. And a month later, two more things broke. The cooling system has broken twice and the freezer stopped cooling once. And then I had to wait for parts for that to come in. I lost hundreds of money in food over the several times when it was broken and we didn’t have a fridge.
It’s a really bad experience with the quality of the product, customer service and repairs. They should have items in stock that don’t take three to four months to get, especially when I’m spending $13,000 on a refrigerator. The timeframe to get the part or get the service company to come out is pretty frustrating overall. And they need to improve the product. I would not recommend it to anybody.

Thank you for letting us know of the issues you have had with receiving parts. Viking is truly sorry for the delays encountered but do appreciate you letting us know so that we can work on improving the process.

The Viking refrigerator came with the house when I bought it. Its quality has been fine but the ice machine stopped working and the house is only two years old. I contacted the customer service team about it and so far, we haven’t gotten the parts and it’s been over two weeks. All the features are fine but it takes a long time before Viking sends out the parts.

I was looking for a pro series refrigerator to match my professional appliances. The Viking Refrigerator met my requirements plus it was around my budget. The person from the store has been helping me with the appliances and choosing the right ones, and thought highly about the Viking Refrigerator. It’s very well lit with the LED lighting and it’s nice being able to open it and see everything. I like the number of shelves and the fact that I can reconfigure them. I have one that folds in half, so that's also neat because I may not need a full shelf. I could fold one of the shelves in half to fit a gallon of milk or orange juice, but if I don't have that, maybe I want to have the shelves instead.
Also, the control panel lights up and temperature cool zone can be adjusted to cool whatever food you’re storing and it will keep it at that temperature plus the dial setting can be easily accessed because it’s in the inside of the door. That's very helpful because with other refrigerators, they have it in places where someone can't even reach.
The only issue that I had was that I had to have the refrigerator replaced 3 times because of the doors being not aligned and even. They tried to align the doors but the top part was wider open than the bottom. The store said that they couldn't do anything with it because the wheels in the back were not adjustable and they could not also adjust the doors. They could only do operating on adjustments. I called Viking service and they sent a repairman who said that it was actually defective and I need it to have it replaced. The reason it happened twice is because the store said, "We'll order a replacement," but when it came, one of the doors was dented. They've had the same issue, and they we're not going to leave it with me. They're going to take it back.
The store said, "If you're not happy with the Viking maybe you could choose a different model or a different refrigerator." But even though the Viking refrigerator has those issues, I liked it and was already in love with it. I couldn't find that different selection. So then they delivered a new one and it was better than the other one. It wasn't wobbly but it still had an issue with the doors. However, when the repairman came and told me that it was defective, he said the doors could be fixed but not the wobbly part. They called the service again and I said, "I got the replacement refrigerator. Can you come fix the door?" They did, so now it's good.
At least, they let me keep the refrigerator until I got the replacement so I was not without a refrigerator. But because it was a special order it would take long time, like in a month. I wasn't happy because of everything else, but regarding the unit itself and how it operates, I would definitely recommend it. For the price, it's great because it competes with the professional refrigerators.

We heard good things about the quality of Viking Refrigerators as we have friends that have the product. Also, I'm the type that wants everything to match and be all from the same manufacturer. When we were redoing the kitchen and updating everything, we wanted to check out all of Viking's appliances. The team at the Viking dealer was very helpful and accommodating. We found a great bundle wherein if we got the refrigerator and the range, we would get a dishwasher that was deeply discounted or free.
Since getting our Viking Refrigerator, I've liked the control panel where I can separate my temperatures. However, there was a piece that wasn't allowing the bottom drawer to close. Within a day of calling to schedule the repair, someone was out to look at the refrigerator but then the part took over a month. Their guy came this morning and was repairing the piece. He said that the piece was not even necessary and it was a piece that could create the same problem later on. It feels like there's some flaw in that design. Nevertheless, the refrigerator is amazing and we're happy.

I bought a Viking Refrigerator because of its reputation and appearance, and also because it would fit into our existing cabinet. But I am not a hundred percent happy about it. The fitting is not very good and they had to send us three different sets. In the first one, there was a defect. Inside are two big yellow spots. When they delivered it the installation people already spotted those spots. It was not acceptable, and it even took more than one month for them to send the second set.
And then when the second set arrived and when they opened up the box, the upper and lower doors were misaligned big time. It was more than one inch misaligned so they did not install it anymore. So in this couple of weeks they sent the third one out. With the third set, however, the upper and lower door misaligned again by half an inch and we are already getting so tired of it. We accepted it but we were not happy with it. Viking has quality control issues because they have sent out three sets and none of them justified the price we paid because of the defects they all had.

Viking had a good deal and it’s one of the well-known brands. The products are sharp and we like it. But the capacity of the fridge we bought is a little limited. The space inside was not as much as we expected and it’s not holding as much stuff. We thought we looked at it but we may have overestimated. But the drawers are very nice and there’s no cleaning and no defrosting needed. They’re good. The lighting is good too.
The range we got from the was disappointing, though, because one of the burners was not even and the flames were not even as well. We called and a service came out and they said they needed to order the part and that was almost two months. They still have not received the part and I'm still waiting. When I called support, the lady who answered the phone wasn’t very enthusiastic about finding out what was going on and was not taking responsibility for the part. She said it sometimes takes a while for the part to come and that sometimes it may be from out of the country. I questioned why they didn't have that in stock given that Viking is a well-known company. After which, she looked into it but there was no record on the company site.
They have me on their database and they should have information about what my problem is and that the service had requested for a part replacement. They should know what’s going on with the products so if there’s anything, they have a database to work on. Also, they should have more of the parts available. We have a burner with Mila, their competition. Within a few days, they came and replaced it. That’s the kind of service I expected, not two months and still not getting the thing replaced at least. It's not vital but it stops me from using the cooktop.

Viking is truly sorry to hear about the issue you are having with getting the part for repair. We will have someone from our escalation team contact you shortly to see how we can assist.

I built a new home about a year ago. I decided to stick my kitchen with what I thought was high quality appliances. I spent over $25000 on a Viking professional kitchen. Been having issues from day one. First, my 48" fridge freezes anything on the top self. After multiple service calls the tech admitted this was an unrepairable design defect. Today my fridge stopped cooling, nice for a $12k appliance. Also, the fridge door squeaks and is out of alignment just from ordinary use.
Second, my oven broke the first time I used it. Took about a month to get it fixed, the first time. Couple of months later it broke again, took weeks to fix this time, same defect. Also, the oven has an annoying function that keeps a loud fan running in it to cool it down after each use, takes about 30 minutes each time. So imagine sitting in your open kitchen, serving a freshly baked dinner, then having to listen to something so loud that you feel you have to speak over it. Poor mechanical design and poor quality, wish I could return them.

Thank you for your review. We were able to research this and find that service had been in contact with our Regional Service manager and has been out to repair your unit. This should take care of the issues with the freezing on the top shelf and for the no cool issue. If for some reason it does not please contact our customer support team at 800-241-9152 Option# 5

Friends recommended the Viking refrigerator, and its name-brand and model made me go with it. It has a feature of ice in its door, and it's my favorite. The quality is okay, but I had to do one repair recently. I've also changed the refrigerator once since 2004. There was an issue with something and they offered to upgrade, so we did to get the ice and water in the door. Then, I had to replace the solenoid valve once for the ice-maker and the door stop. The parts of the refrigerator are expensive but other than that, they have very good customer service reps who are very helpful. I told them what was wrong and they sent the service guy out. They were able to fix it and they didn't have to come back twice.

We got the Viking refrigerator through our builder that arranged everything and because of that getting the service and the registration was cumbersome. In those situations, it could be made easier. Other than that, our Viking refrigerator's quality is very good and we like its size.

We went to a local Best Buy store looking for appliances and chose to buy Viking over other competitors because of the quality and the customer reviews that we had seen online. Best Buy assured us that because they sell the product, they were associated with Pacific Sales which sells Viking. They went ahead and did what they could to earn our business and matched the price that we've had gotten at our local friend's appliance. They beat it by $500.
However, it was probably the worst purchasing experience I have ever gone through. We purchased it on September 6 and by the week of Thanksgiving, we received part of our purchase which were the refrigerator, the microwave, the dishwasher, and the range. The people who installed the refrigerator broke the handles and dented the doors so they had to replace those. The double oven showed up totally damaged. The entire front looks like it have been dropped. It was mangled and we couldn't even open the doors. We refused delivery on it so that they would take it back and get us a new one.
We had spoken with Best Buy and Pacific Sales numerous times and they had given us the name and number of the Viking rep who serviced that door. The Viking sales rep assured us that everything would be taken cared of but she stopped returning my husband's call. We got our range that was damaged about five weeks ago and it was installed but about a week later, it had an F3 error on the bottom oven. So now we are waiting for the local rep because I did an online service call and they sent the information to the local person to fix them. They were scheduled to come yesterday but they didn't come. Now, they're scheduled to come sometime this afternoon.
It has been a bad experience from start to finish. Outside of the purchase itself and the fact that we finally got the oven with some sort of an error wouldn't have been a big deal if we hadn't waited almost eight months for it to arrive. It wouldn't have been such a terrible experience as far as Viking is concerned, but I am concerned as to who sells their product because it doesn't care well for Viking. Nevertheless, our Viking appliances are all great. We love all of them when everything's working. Even the oven is great with the top one that's working. The refrigerator has been the most beneficial for our family. I like that it has great space and everything's there. With it having different temperatures on, I'm able to keep the cheese and the vegetables from freezing. It's an all around good product and is well built.

Thank you for letting us know about your Viking experience with one of our dealers. We are always looking for ways to improve and your feedback is greatly appreciated.

We’d use CSI for the first time and they were very helpful. They had our installation done and everything was Viking, including the stove. We had a Miele dishwasher, but we used CSI again and they did all of our installation well. Plus, their customer service was excellent. It was a very good experience and we were very satisfied. We like the high-quality product and I’ve been very happy with the purchase. It does what it's advertised to do. My parents owned a Sub-Zero which only makes built-in refrigerators and not stand-up ones. I've heard of Viking in the past and they're my number two choice. However, I received my refrigerator damaged. A lot of parts under it were bent so it's not leveled and I have to put a piece of wood behind the fridge to level it. Also, the bottom grille doesn't line up with the fridge. There's also frost build-up all around the inside of the fridge where the cool air comes out of the little vents. There's supposed to be a gap in between the shelves but they're touching. And the door slams hard. It doesn't feel like a normal fridge. It's hard and it's like plastic on plastic when it closes. The freezer door is not even with the refrigerator doors like it's pushed in on one side. When I close it, it’s supposed to be flush with the doors but only one side is pushed down and one side is pulling out.
The Viking team was friendly but they took a while to return calls. I spoke to a representative and she said she was going to check on my fridge. I had to call her the next week and they were supposed to call me back two days later and this last week but I still haven't heard from them. They said they were going to send out somebody to repair the fridge but the company guy said it's irreparable. Overall, Viking's built-ins are very good but their stand-ups are not.

We can’t afford that.” We asked what she'll do with the others and she said she'll just donate them so we bought them from her. We’ve only been using them for two weeks but we like how it’s not deep. I like the style of the Viking refrigerator and I felt that it was a quality premium brand. My favorite feature so far is the freezer layout, but we had a quality issue up front which was disturbing. The ice maker never worked from day one. We went back and forth with Viking and had three service calls before it was fixed. We also went back and forth with the retailer that we purchased from and fought the phone calls and writing into Viking.
My husband was the first one to call because I'm on the road a lot. Nothing was resolved, so I called back again and got a very nice lady at customer service who helped me. But it was a lot of aggravation and I'm very disappointed. It took months before it was resolved. Also, the person who came the first two times was terrible and didn’t fix anything. He was telling me to use a hairdryer to melt the tubes so that the ice will come out. I said that I'm not putting a hairdryer on plastic for my brand new $4,000 refrigerator. I told them to not send that repairman guy back and to send me another one.
The weird thing was I sent in a warranty card which I filled out by hand and they said I'm not even registered. I had to go online and log in before they could get a dealer or another person out here to service. What's the point of putting a warranty card in the materials we get if they're not gonna pay any attention to it when I mailed it in? But the other guy they sent out was fantastic and fabulous. He was way down and had to drive quite a distance to come here. But it was months where I'd go into my local supermarket buying ice so that is not good. It was a disappointing experience. This is my first and maybe my last Viking purchase.

We've had less expensive brands in the past that worked as well or had fewer issues than we've had with it. It should be more reliable for its price.
The water dispenser is leaking and the ice dispenser has been replaced twice since we purchased the Viking refrigerator. Also, the approved service provider that was recommended on Viking's website was terrible. They came on April 17th, ordered several parts and then they communicated but there hasn't been anything done. They said they haven't gotten the parts in yet or they are not sure if they've gotten the parts in yet. We owned all Viking appliances in our previous home. We had about 14 years of experience with the range, hood, refrigerator, dishwasher, and wine fridge. We've just started remodeling our kitchen here in Texas and purchased a Viking package here as well because of their reputation and the quality and the look of the appliances. We were comfortable moving forward with Viking again though what we got were kind of different products than what we purchased before in some ways. The range we had was a double oven and was kind of super high end range. This time, we have a stand alone LPG all-steel cook top and then a wall oven. I like some of the improvements they've made to the product line. The cook top is much easier to clean than the more commercial style we previously had.
We went for a French door refrigerator this time which got the freezer above and has two French doors. The whole refrigerator unit is really good and convenient. It fit in to the opening we have perfectly at the right depth. Everything about it is also pretty first rate. We are happy with the refrigerator and with everything but one thing I have is on the packaging of the product particularly on the refrigerator. When the installers came to install it, they spent forever trying to take the protective material Viking uses over the stainless steel off. They never got all of it off and I can still see some of the adhesive that was used to hold it on there even though I've used stainless steel cleaners that were recommended.
We did the purchase from Pacific Sales which is a brick-and-mortar store in Austin and is apparently a subsidiary of Best Buy. However, the experience was not good with Pacific Sales and horrible with Best Buy. The whole delivery process was a nightmare. We love the products and we had no issues with the installers that Best Buy used, but the length of time the scheduling took and the constant lack of information and the change of information were not good at all. I would probably never buy from Pacific Sales again. When we first started looking, we went online and found vendors that would ship the appliances to our home for free and no sales tax because they had no brick-and-mortar presence in Texas. But I thought of paying the extra sales tax which was substantial just to have that local touch and that good quality customer service which couldn't have been farther from what's the reality.
The Viking Range Corporation needs to know that when a customer decides to buy a Viking products from Pacific Sales, which is Best Buy, they're likely in for a tough go of it. The sales person who we dealt with never called and kind of washed his hands off once we get handed off to this contact person with Best Buy when things started getting kind of going sideways.
But now that we have the appliances and they're all in place, everything seems to be working great. I placed a call with Viking today as I was having some issues with the new wall oven and I got connected to a very knowledgeable person in tech support. He walked me through what he thought were the probable issues. It was more of a problem with me understanding the directions though I read the owner's manual pretty closely, but after talking to him, he provided a lot more information about how to use the oven properly than what I got out of reading the owner's manual.
Also, we had some repairs that needed to be done and Viking always seems to have good customer service. Viking corporate had to handle recall issues and they were good about notifying us for that. However, I've tried to register these appliances online and I've only got about half of them done. For some reason, it comes back and says they don't recognize the model number or the model number and the serial number don't match so they can't do it. I have yet to call so that's been a little bit of a pain but no big deal.

I wanted the French doors on top and the drawer at the bottom. That month, Viking came out with a new model but it did not have the water dispenser either inside or on the door and that was something I was looking for because everywhere that I did research on, the word was that there was a glitch with every refrigerator that has either a water dispenser inside or outside and you always have to buy the filter. I thought that was a hassle so I was pleased that Viking came out with a model that didn't have that. It was also a good made on their part because the one they had before the new model had an internal water dispenser and I don't drink cold water. I like either tepid or hot water so this refrigerator was made for my needs. It was perfect.
But the crisper drawers would ice up and there would be big chunks of ice there. They wouldn't thaw out so I would have to go at it with an ice pick. Viking brought a technician over to try and fix it but he said he couldn't do a fix. He said the refrigerator was a lemon. He worked on other refrigerators of Viking and they were fine. Mine was the only model where the defrost wasn't working. But they couldn't repair it so they swapped it out with a new refrigerator.
And I love the meat drawer of the new refrigerator. It keeps the meats colder so that it lasts a little longer. If I don't use the meat that's in there for three days, it would still be okay. I also like the freezer drawer. The fridge I had before I remodeled my kitchen was a side by side door. By then side by side refrigerators were not that well made because all the refrigerator manufacturers were moving toward the French doors with the drawer freezer. Some people say that one of the problems is when you have the drawer that pulls out, you're always fishing for space. But I find that I didn't have to do that because within the freezer, there's two pull out and one at the bottom. I can always see what's there which is nice. And then all of the freezer baskets that pull out, they're all wire baskets and not solid panels so the frozen food gets frozen hard.
I also like the fact that the lighting is in the front. In the Hotpoint refrigerator we had before we remodeled, the light is in the back of the refrigerator. So if I have any item that's tall enough, it'll block the lights and I don't get the light in the front. But with Viking, they put the light in the front and the lighting is good. I can see everything so I'm impressed with that, too. So overall, I like the layout and the one that I bought was counter depth which is nice too. The Hotpoint refrigerator that we had stuck way out in front of the cabinet so everyone is always bumping into it. So now being counter depth, there's enough room in the inside, too. It's a little bigger than my Hotpoint but efficiency-wise, it's all around so much better.
The delivery person had to deliver and install it and he was very conscientious about not marring the parquet hardwood floors and all of the other stuff. They made sure before he left that everything was up and running very well. I was impressed with the installer they hired as well. They didn't cut corner on service and didn't corner on the refrigerator which is nice. But I'm most impressed with the Viking service. Usually, companies don't replace defective products. They keep sending a technician once a month to try to mess with it. Viking couldn't repair the fridge so they swapped it out with a new refrigerator and I'm pleased with the decision. I never had that before so that was quite a statement as to how well Viking stand behind their product.

We are so happy to hear that your Viking refrigerator is everything that you were looking for.

I had a full Viking kitchen in my former home but I had to get a refrigerator in a hurry because I was moving. But when I got my Viking Refrigerator last January, I had a problem with it immediately. The freezer door did not close completely so I had the serviceman come out because it looked like it was out of alignment. He said we just have to pull it this way or that so he realigned it. I left town for two weeks, came back and my freezer was so frozen up we could not open it. On one side, there was a tiny gap and all that air was getting in there.
When I got back, I immediately called the repairman. He comes only to Tuscaloosa once a week so I had to wait a week. The serviceman came back and said, "You're gonna have to take everything out of your refrigerator. Turn the refrigerator off, let it thaw like an old-fashioned refrigerator, and then find a place to put all of it, then bring it back..." So it was a terrible experience. He told me that it was something that happens with that refrigerator and that was a very lame excuse. Everything in my house is Viking and this is just something I have to accept? That's not why I went with it. There was no repair done. He simply said that I needed to make sure that when the door closes, it is not caught one way or the other so that the air could not get in.
But other than that, buying the refrigerator through a Viking dealer has been a wonderful experience. They were very nice trying to accommodate me. Also, my overall experience with the repairman has been excellent. He was great, very polite, very kind and he fixes what the problem is, but I was not satisfied with the fact that I just have to accept it. As far as that overall experience with owning a Viking refrigerator, it's not good because I have this concern. It's just not a comfortable feeling. I even asked, "Would they do something to replace it?" He said, "It would really take something big, and this is not something big." I told him that the inconvenience that I had to completely empty my refrigerator, turn it off, let it thaw out, and then put everything back in the freezer is not what I expect out of Viking.

We bought the first Viking Refrigerator about 13 years ago. It was a piece of crap. When it came, it was all damaged. After a lot of arguing and trying to patch things up, they replaced it with another. The second one damaged my kitchen because it had a big mold issue. It's nothing but a joke. Viking took care of it but not to my liking. They paid for part of it but not even what it cost to do it. It took months for them to straighten things up. Finally, the refrigerator just plain died, I had to borrow a couple of other refrigerators to put the stuff in. It was just a disaster. It ruined our cabinets and our floor. The insurance company that they deal with was really not too accommodating.
We now have a new one, which they just installed a month ago, but the ice drawer was already broken so they just took the ice drawer out. We got a lot of Viking products in our kitchen. We had a dishwasher but it was no good and our stove has nothing but constant problems.

Viking is truly sorry to hear that you had a malfunction on your refrigerator after 13 years. I see were we have addressed the issue with the damage. In regards to the ice drawer we will be happy to repair the issue thru the warranty.

We love our Viking Refrigerator so far. The size is great because it is a really tall one. And of course, side by side is good. The only thing is that the side door where the butter is held, on occasion, if I put butter in there whatever keeps that door closed isn't strong enough and it pops open and the butter falls out every once in a while. But overall the refrigerator is restaurant quality, and Viking is professional. And when I originally mailed in the warranty and I had to call because I have the wrong address, whoever helped me there was wonderful.

I have all-Viking appliances in my kitchen and I had a custom refrigerator. It was 10 years old and I was having problems with it. Not all the parts were available and it cannot be fixed so it was time to buy a new one. If it had not been built-in with the cabinet, I would have purchased a Sub-Zero because a lot of people said they had quite a few problems with Viking refrigerators. And it was $2,000 more than the Sub-Zero. But I wound up buying a Viking because I had to put in this cabinet what would fit. I got the exact same size as the one they took out, which had wood panels that matched the cabinets on it. But they don't do that anymore. The new one is all stainless steel, and it looks good with the stove and microwave, which are also all stainless steel. They all look the same so it’s fine.
It's brand new and it cools well, so I have no complaints. I like that there is LED light in it, because it's bright. You could see inside well. At the bottom, you have that little area where you can put a normal-sized pizza box and just shelve it right in there and it fits. Viking has made some design changes from what we have had previously and I think they’re good. But my questions were around the reliability in the long term. Because refrigerators aren't necessarily Viking's wheelhouse. It's more the stoves and stuff.

We decided to buy Viking based on the better warranty, it’s five years versus three. The food lasts longer with Viking's compared to our old fridge. And we have no issues with the Viking dealer, Ferguson, when we bought the refrigerator. It was fine. However, some of the labels on the refrigerator were not installed quite lushly.

I purchased a home with a Viking refrigerator. It looks awesome but have had constant problems with the icemaker. It either doesn't dispense through the door or falls on the floor or whine the other items in the freezer. I have had it repaired 5 times in the last 4 years and have lived with it not working for months on end simply because I didn't want to spend another $1,000 to get it fixed again and have it break 6 months later. My recommendation is to get something with more reliable parts if you use ice.

I've heard of Viking for years because my son-in-law builds very high-end homes, and I know that at times they use Viking appliances. We bought our Viking refrigerator through Best Buy, and the reps there were fabulous. This fridge was on display at Best Buy when I was there. The reps said that normally Viking refrigerators aren't on the Best Buy floor, but this fridge had been returned because it had a slight dent in it and the customer wouldn't accept it. One of the big reasons that I bought this fridge was the counter depth, and that was key.
We ordered our Viking refrigerator back in October, but we've been under construction all this time and we just finally got it put in. We've only been using it for about three weeks to a month. The quality of the fridge that we got is good. I like the brightness and how the doors open very fully. However, the only complaint I have right now with it is about the ice in the container in the freezer. Sometimes, the container overfills and when you open it, it pops the ice out down into the bottom. Nevertheless, I had a good experience overall with Viking.

We are so happy to hear that your Viking refrigerator is everything you were looking for.

Like many of the reviews here, our Viking French Door fridge was a lemon and so is the new one that showed up after 6 months of service calls and spoiled food. I have now heard from a service person and the appliance delivery men that I am not alone in my issues, which are detailed by many other reviews here. I have wasted 16+ hours of my life talking to Viking and waiting for service calls. Not to mention the $100s of lost due to spoiled food from the freezing in the back of the fridge. The fact that ice spills out onto the floor every time I open the freezer is a design flaw I could have lived with, but this is unacceptable. Built my entire kitchen around this fridge and now I need to figure out how to replace it. Do yourself a favor - the reviews are true - don't buy this fridge. Viking knows its refrigerator is defective, but keep selling it.

We have Dacor Appliances and we bought the Viking Refrigerator to match them. The guys who delivered it were great and the refrigerator is pretty good. We're happy with our refrigerator and we like how it beeps. That's cool especially if we open it. We like how it looks inside, that we can really stack stuff and that the freezer has a lot of room compared to our other fridge.
However, we hear a little noise from it and we're having issues with the second shelf for the frozen fruit because we open it a lot. It comes off the unit itself so we had to put some ties on it. And every time we pull it open, it kind of sticks, so we got to push that back to get to the bottom part. Also, we always have a hard time sealing it. Every day we have to push the seal out to make sure it's sealed. There was a really nice guy who came out, looked at it, and took the back panel off that covers the vents at the very back of the freezer for it to shut properly and be sealed. Once that back panel came off, the drawer was able to shut better somehow. That part is on order and he said he'll get back to us but we have not heard from him for a while. Hopefully, he'll come back and get the vent back on. And he took the ties off but we put them back on because the drawer keeps falling apart.
We also put a couple of things in the long drawer on the top part and they froze so we got to watch that. But the two drawers on the right and left seem to be working well. This refrigerator cost a lot of money and we don't know if it's worth $4,000. But it's so far so good. Once everything’s fixed, we're satisfied. We learned how to shut the shelf properly and we get it now that if we don't shut it right, it gets stuck up.

Thank you for your review. We are truly sorry to hear that you have been having issues. We were able to find in our records that the part has been replaced and service completed. Less than five months ago I purchased all new appliances for my kitchen. I wanted a reputable brand that would last for years to come. Viking is a name you hear and immediately think "high-end." Their appliances fit my style perfectly, simple yet classy-looking, so I took the plunge and ordered myself an entire Viking kitchen, not a cheap decision but my kitchen is MY space, so I splurged.
My stainless steel refrigerator (double door on top, pull-out freezer on bottom) has been constant problems for me. I'm actually not fond of any of my appliances but the others have been overlooked due to such shockingly poor quality of my refrigerator. First, the ice machine works completely randomly... one day a full tub of ice, the next nothing. Next, in less than three months time a shelving frame has completely cracked all the way through, and there is hardly any weight on it at all. Now, the produce drawers are sagging inwards and I do not trust the shelves in the least. It seems like it is constantly something with the unit. I had hoped to love my new kitchen but now I'm so upset that, for the money I spent, I do not have appliances I can be proud to show off.

Viking Refrigerators is the best range that’s out there. I purchased from them because I chose products that are going to match my kitchen. However, I haven’t used the refrigerator because I’ve had some considerable problems with it. It’s not been fixed yet. It was shipped from a distributor in New York and apparently it wasn’t configured for altitude despite telling them that I live in Denver. It’s plugged in and running, but I have pools of water in vegetable drawers and there is a ticking noise that’s happening with it. It’s that bad. It’s been this way for six weeks, so I am not overly happy with that, especially not after paying $4,000 for a refrigerator.
When I called Viking, they were as expected. They got the refrigerator repair company out. I’ve been working with the repairman and he’s been great. He has to order parts but there’s some feedback or manufacturer recall with the piece and so the repairman is waiting for a new piece now. He hasn’t been able to figure out whatever ticking noise there is, so it sounds like a time bomb in my kitchen. I’ve been talking to a lot of people but nobody has been able to fix my refrigerator.
The dishwasher and range have not been installed yet, but the range came damaged. I don’t know if it’s the distributor or the shipping company. The range hasn’t been set up yet, but I can’t seem to find the legs that were supposed to come with it. But Viking has been pretty responsive. A lot of the issue lies with the distributor. I wish I had not given them $16,000 worth of business. They have not been helpful. There were supposed to be rebates, but they wouldn’t process. It was like pulling teeth to get them to give the discount when you buy multiple Viking products. It’s been a disaster with them. I could not recommend the product and the distributor. Why would a refrigerator that has a known defect still be sold in the market?

Viking is sorry to hear of the issues you have had with the distributor. We will alert our sales manager so that he can work with the dealer to help insure that this does not happen in the future. We have contacted the servicer and he is working with our regional service manager for when the repair kit comes in he will receive it and come back out to your house to complete the repair.

I've had Viking products before and I heard about the Viking refrigerator from friends and people who've had Viking appliances. My son-in-law works for a company that's owned by Viking, so I got the friends-and-family deal, and it was a great deal. I like the French doors. In fact, this is the only slide-in refrigerator that Viking makes, and it was perfect for my kitchen that's relatively small. I just couldn't justify going up to a commercial grade refrigerator with a small kitchen. I also love the components of the freezer units. There are different areas where I can freeze things. It's very compact and efficient.
I had a few questions regarding the refrigerator and the rep pointed out how to do the adjustments. I had called the Viking headquarters in Tennessee and asked for a hard copy version of the manual, even though it's available online, but I never received it. That's an oversight on their part, but I should just go ahead and print out the manual off of the internet. But other than that, I'm very happy with the refrigerator. It's great. It's perfect for my needs and it's a good-looking refrigerator, too.

We bought a brand new house and all the appliances were Viking. The original refrigerator that was discontinued was really substandard in the sense that the design was flawed. The freezer is at the bottom half so anything that tumbled from the refrigerator fell on the freezer and the freezer frame was dented. It kept getting dented. I wasn't very happy with the quality so I had to replace that with the model that came about after it was discontinued. I was trying to replace the bottom freezer and I called their parts department and one was better, but the other was charging me $2,000 just for the bottom freezer while a new model costs $3,500. There's just no recourse as far as their customer service.
In addition, somebody recognized that the design was flawed, so they changed it. The freezer frame was no longer stainless steel. It was very very hard plastic and it didn't jut out anymore. So, it's horrible that such a design was at all created. There was no quality control. We then got a new refrigerator from Best Buy and they were pretty good except for the delivery that had so much bumbling all over the place. The first people who delivered it didn't know how to handle refrigerators because the foot was dented. I'm very dissatisfied with all the Viking appliances we had and I'm never going to recommend Viking ever.

We just built a new home and I went to different stores who carried all the brands, and my first choice was Viking after researching all of the products on the market. Even though the products are high-end, they have a very good lifespan and not a whole lot of repair maintenance necessary. The first thing that drew me in looking at Viking was their French oven. I’m a bit older and don’t like anything over my head anymore or high up or difficult to get in and out of an oven. The Viking French oven was just what I was looking for. David, who wasn't a Viking rep directly, was very helpful and knowledgeable. I heard from him that Viking has 42-inch refrigerators instead of 48. I'm very happy with the quality of the refrigerator. It's excellent. I like that the door beeps when I've left it open too long.
The only concern I have is that I have a $1,000 rebate because I purchased the whole package. That was one of the promotions at that time but it seems the only way that I can recoup my rebate is to go on the computer but I'm a bit elderly and I don't do the computer as well as I should. It has been difficult for me to get that going and I wish we had a phone rep that I could call. I wish they offer an option that would be more suitable to some of us who are not as computer-savvy as 90% of the world. Other than that, I’ve been very pleased with my experience.

We bought a brand new house and all the other appliances there were Viking. We didn't want the refrigerator to be different and we had heard mostly good stuff about Viking, so we thought that getting a Viking refrigerator would be the best way to go, although we had a Samsung refrigerator at our other house. Viking appliances are high quality, but unfortunately their prices are usually out of our range, so we got the least expensive one that we could find. I also didn't want a water dispenser any longer, like what we have with our other refrigerator, so this one was perfect.
We like our Viking refrigerator a lot. I like how it has the filter for the refrigerator itself. I also like the ice maker and dispenser. When I did my research on the Viking refrigerator, there were comments about the ice maker that were not positive, but it hasn't been a problem for us. It doesn't have an automatic shutoff, but we go to our refrigerator at least once a day, and we can just turn it off when we see that it's full, so it's not a big deal to me.

Thank you for sharing your experience with your Viking refrigerator. We are so happy to hear how much you are enjoying it.

We've had Viking in the past and the Viking refrigerator was in the house when we bought it. It was a new Viking, so we registered it. It's probably the model that was chosen, but to not be able to have water in the door is difficult. When I open the door and want to pull out that longer middle drawer, I can't without opening both doors. And if I want to pull out the right side drawer, I can't do that either without opening the door. There's nothing I can do about the shelving or the way the drawers is pulled out. So, it isn't really all that convenient. We cook all the time and it's difficult to arrange the refrigerator. A Sub-Zero is a better refrigerator for us.
Also, we're used to having a gas range, so I'm not familiar with having electric. The rangetop doesn’t heat quickly and when I turn it off, it doesn’t turn off quickly either. So, it's really a challenge to get it figured out on how long do I cook something. And the oven, too. It’s not calibrated properly. So what I normally would cook in 20 minutes takes closer to 30 minutes. I would not recommend Viking to a friend. The dishwasher is the same thing. Those are expensive appliances and I am not that thrilled with any of them.

We have had frozen food ruined and continuously have to dig behind the drawers and remove ice. Then ice began forming in the regular refrigerator drawers. I contacted Trail Appliances where it was purchased and they ignored me. So then, I had to contact Viking directly in Quebec, which is Brigade, and they advised me that the fridge was unrepairable. So then, we waited three months and then we got a new one.
After that, our second fridge lasted 23 months, and then it started to melt and the housing cracked. So, I phoned Viking again and they sent a service guy out. This took a couple of weeks, which is a joke, because they don't have anybody locally that knows what to do. So, I waited another couple of weeks for those guys who said that the second fridge was also unrepairable. So, all in all, we've waited almost four months without a fridge because there wasn't one available in North America.
Then we were away for a couple of months, and now we've come back. We got our third fridge just before we left, and we turned it on when we got home here a couple of weeks back. But this third fridge never shuts off, so there's another problem with it. I haven't phoned Viking yet because I'm at my wit's end with it. The customer service reps were responsive and the fellow that's in charge of their marketing, Daniel, was quite good and does everything in his power, but this issue with the Viking refrigerator is so screwed up that it's just unbelievable.

My husband bought the Viking dishwasher and he wanted a matching appliance. We did the purchasing through ABT and they’re great. We think that Viking is a good brand and it looks nice. We got the French doors and set it side by side, like our old KitchenAid which was there when we bought the house. Our Viking refrigerator is fine, but the clips that hold down the racks in the freezer keep coming off from day one when we haven't had it for very long, six months at most. ABT came out last week but they never did anything about the clips. So I told my husband to make sure to ask them about it when they come back out. We’ve called ABT to have that corrected. We're waiting for them to call back.
There's also one minor thing. Most refrigerators have feet you can adjust if it needs to go up or down an inch. Viking doesn't have that. We have a two-inch gap at the top of the refrigerator, between the old cabinets and refrigerator. They were able to adjust the KitchenAid to go up to it and with the Viking, you can’t. But I liked the style of the French doors and those big shelves and big, perfect trays.

I first purchased from Viking Refrigerators three years ago. First one was defective. The replacement I got cost $5000 which is no small sum. I also had to pay another $500 to have the second one installed. But it had multiple problems with the computer part of it maintaining the temperature. I lost thousands of dollars of food because of that. It took a week to get somebody out here then, they came out, diagnosed it and said they had to order a part. It was another three or four days and I've received no kind of compensation. Swapped it for a brand new unit a couple of months ago which they did as complimentary. But money is not the point here, it’s the inconvenience.
I’m on the third fridge and we had to have it repaired because the ice maker wasn't working. Then, we just had another problem. The drip tray didn’t drain appropriately so water backed up underneath my new kitchen cabinets and it's warped my wood floors. We’ve sent pictures and haven’t heard anything back but they've scheduled to repair it. This is then a nightmare and expensive. It's also inconvenient to me and I have a family so we can't live without a refrigerator and freezer. The customer service up until the point we got Kenneth involved, the guy we’ve been working with lately, has been awful. Nothing has been done. If I could, I would just return it and I would go with a totally different company because of this awful experience. Viking is supposed to be a top of the line product on the market.

I've known about Viking Refrigerators for a long time. We purchased a home recently that had a built-in refrigerator and it had a sub-zero that was not working. I went over to Best Buy to check some stuff out. I knew they had the Pacific Home in there so I went in and got the Viking fridge. We had a rocky start because when they came and delivered it, the refrigeration door was approximately a half an inch lower than the freezer door. And there was no adjusting it. They had to basically come out, take the door off, put some spacers underneath the one side to level it out and get it all to work right, which is pretty frustrating for a $12,000 refrigerator.
At first, Best Buy said, "Well, you're gonna have to call Viking." and I said, "I'm not gonna call anybody. I bought it from you so you guys can figure it out or you can come pick up your refrigerator and I'll buy from somebody else." And they figured it out. The lady I talked with at the dealership was very helpful. When she wasn't available the day that I called and there was an issue, she called me the next day. She also called me after the follow up when they came out and fixed it to make sure everything is okay and did a great job.
Everything is great. I do like that all the shelving on the doors is all metal instead of the flimsy plastic. We have a separate ice maker so we don’t really use the one inside of it too much. It doesn't seem to hold a lot so if that was our only ice maker, that would probably be a downside for us. Overall, the refrigerator is very solid. We're looking to hopefully buy an in-wall oven and a dishwasher from Viking soon.

The refrigerator itself is a great-looking product but the ice maker is a real deal-breaker. My wife and I use quite a bit of ice on any given day but the ice maker produces only one small layer each night. In comparison, my old KitchenAid filled up with ice every single night. I bought the Viking refrigerator from Pacific Sales so when my icemaker unit stopped working after the initial tray of ice, I called them. I came to find out they don't service Viking products and I had to call Viking myself. When I did that, Viking said they'll send someone out through Executive Appliance to service the icemaker. The refrigerator is part of a condo that I bought. It was a brand new condo so the builder bought all the appliances. The ice maker froze the drawer to the back of the refrigerator so I couldn’t get it opened, and when I did, it was just a solid block of ice. The builder told me that they use the Viking repair service, which is a third party and so I had them come out. After three attempts, they finally determined it was the filter, which was unusual since it was brand new. They replaced the filter and then they charged me $220 for that. I had to go to battle with the developer and it went back to the appliance supplier who apparently went back to Viking. Supposedly Viking is sending me a track for that but I haven’t seen it yet.
The repair guy came out three times and every time he was there, he would have less than three hours to pull the ice maker apart three times and put it back together. Now it works but it wobbles and I’m just going to deal with that because I don’t have time to invest in any more repairs. Overall it's been disappointing and time-consuming.

We hooked it up and then it had another problem. When I called in with problems, they were good about helping to get somebody to look at it. I had two different Viking certified people come out to work on it and they took it quickly apart, defrost it totally and then put it back together and say my drip pan wasn't lined up properly. Both times someone came it cost me $800 each and the second time I decided to just replace it because it'll be cheaper in the long run.
When I got the new one, the door seal on it would not seal. We travel a lot and we come back home and see that there would be rust inside our brand-new refrigerator. It took three times to get somebody to figure out the problem and fix it and had it slamming shut. We're loving it now. It’s great. The new lighting is so bright and pretty and I really like it. We bought everything Viking except for the microwave and the drawer. We had the refrigerator delivered and then we had a professional Viking authorized installer install it. Ever since the fridge was delivered and installed, the freezer door was not lined up with the bottom of the fridge so it would never close and seal properly. It would always bang on the side and I always have to shift it over before I close it.
Our installer told us that from the beginning, the refrigerator was defective. Viking suggested a couple of vendors to come look at it. Both companies said it was the installation and they changed the tracks on it. One said it was the tracks and then that didn't fix the problem inside the fridge. And then the ice machine wouldn't stop making ice so we turned it off. It didn't have a sensor to stop it.
The refrigerator had a multitude of problems and Viking wanted to pass the buck and deny the real issue. So we lived with it for six months and then I called my attorney. I spent 10 grand and I know what my rights are. And then as soon as I did that, all of a sudden Viking said they're going to get me a new fridge. But it was a disappointing experience that I had to spend a lot of time and go through a lot of headaches.
I built my dream kitchen and ended up getting a lemon. I had eight visits on the fridge over a period of a month. The installer is Viking certified and I made sure I reached the right company. Thank God I did 'cause they were the only ones in my corner. The ones that Viking picked said nothing's wrong with the fridge. It was crazy 'cause it's a blatant denial of responsibility. Finally, I called my attorney and let him deal with it. I don't have time to keep calling, waiting on hold, emailing this person, and going to my house to let people in.
Also, it's definitely not good business when I'm buying a luxury item. I could have went to Home Depot and bought a fridge for $700 that would have achieved basic functionality that this fridge cannot achieve. I saved all the money, worked for 10 years before I bought a house that I'll be in for a long time and I've spent 75 grand in a kitchen renovation and the fridge doesn't work. The replacement fridge was basic but it was nice. The lighting is bright, and cool how it is illuminated. Although they replaced the fridge with a new one, Viking didn't do anything for me. I didn't have an operable fridge for six months and I had to inconvenience myself with my time to go fix it all. I will not ever buy a Viking again.

We like Viking's brand and the way it looks in the kitchen. The refrigerator is great. All the controls are on the left side of the door, and it's easy to program everything else. It's wide so it's easy access in and out. I like the different drawers and the accessibility to the refrigeration part. Plus, you can adjust the temperature and humidity. The wide shelf space also makes it very convenient. Overall, it’s been easy, manageable, and it sits perfectly in our kitchen.
