I've been very familiar with Viking for many years but I'm very unhappy with their service, and the service who I bought the Viking from. I knew it was a floor model at the showroom and they told me that it had been out there for less than a year and had never been used, and it was like new and would have the full warranty. But several pieces broke within 24 hours of me getting this $10,000 refrigerator. It keeps things cold but all of the door inserts, such as the shelves in the door, all were broken. When I called Viking, they said that this was a five-year old model. It had been sitting on the showroom for that long, which was never disclosed and they won't cover anything.
It was a very disappointing experience and makes me want to avoid using Viking. It’s a nice refrigerator. Unfortunately, they are selling it through dealers that don't understand their process and they're not standing behind it and not willing to stand up to their dealer. So, it's not a company I would want to do business with again.

Thank you for providing your experience. We apologize for the issues you encountered with your refrigerator. Viking does stand behind its products as outlined in your use and care manual. As a manufacturer, Viking provides all authorized dealers with important information concerning issues such as the one you experienced. We regret the dealer did not disclose the proper warranty or manufacture information regarding your floor model purchase.

We're having our unit repaired because the icemaker is not working, and it’s not self-leveling very well. The tech came out three days ago and determined the thing in the bottom needed to be completely repaired. He gave us a quote on what it is going to cost to fix that. Also, some of the lights aren’t working and we have to replace them. We love the industrialized look, but looking at this is a $10,000 refrigerator, one would think that these issues wouldn't be happening, but they are. We also have a Viking dishwasher that has not been hooked up yet, and we're crossing our fingers that that will not cause us any more trauma.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We apologize for the issues you have encountered. A member of our Customer Care team will be contacting you within 48 hours regarding the issues and repairs.

When looking at other competitors of theirs, Vivint could step the design up a little bit. But for the price point, the refrigerator is doing what I would expect it to be doing. I haven't had any issues in comparison to other issues I've had or are having with Viking's other products such as the freestanding range. The performance has not been as expected. I've been having some issues with the oven specifically and the griddle not working. They've sent some technicians multiple times who tried to fix it but it's still not working. I'm trying out to see about getting a replacement or refund since it’s been over four times now. They're easy to contact so I'll give them a 10 or an A+ for that but the follow up is lacking. I'm having to follow up with them as to what's going. I've recently had to request an escalation to try to get information because they don't have much to go by based off of what they're waiting on with their contracted vendor.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We deeply apologize for the issues experienced with your Viking range. The refrigerator's freezer door has been broken since day one and still didn't stay sealed appropriately. We had the local appliance company come out on multiple occasions already and we also had issues with the microwave and the dishwasher. All in all, I'm dissatisfied with each of the Viking appliances that we have except for the stove.

I like the Viking refrigerator. It's smaller than what we had before, but it seems to perform well. It has drawers for vegetables and other things. They also have a drawer that keeps temperature at specific temps. It has a separate kind of a cooling system connected to it. We sometimes wish that the freezer was a little bit larger though.

The quality of the refrigerator has been good. I like the ice machine that's why I bought it. It's just not been putting out as much ice as it should for the money. It only made eight ice cubes every four hours on Thanksgiving when we were actually using a lot of ice. We had a lot of people, and we ran out of ice by noon. I was using my ice quicker than it was making ice. I understand that Thanksgiving is a different whole thing, but I would have expected it not to take till Saturday before I had a lot of ice. The company in Houston handles the maintenance and right now, with COVID, everything had to wait.

Our aim is to help iron out any and all wrinkles. Our customer care team is here to assist should you need to contact Viking. Thank you for placing the Viking brand in your home.

We liked the look of Viking and their reputation as well so we went with them. We're not so thrilled with the double wall oven but the refrigerator is awesome. The quality is excellent and this is probably the best refrigerator we've ever owned. It's so easy to navigate in there. You can see and reach everything. But the ice maker could be improved. The bin that the ice goes into should be raised in the back so that the ice falls to the front. I'm always winding up with ice all over the floor and on the inside of the freezer because it builds up then there's no way to open the freezer without the ice falling over like a deck of cards. Other than that, we've had a fairly good experience so far.

We bought an entire set of Viking appliances: vegetable drawer, beverage fridge, and ovens. The fridge specifically has been fantastic, just the quality of it and the features that it has. Having the freezer at the bottom is a great feature. We have the two drawers there that pull out separately. Also, there's a separate rolling tray that separates between the upper and lower half of the freezer itself, which is great. We also like that since the door is a French door, we can put in wider items there like a tray of longer cake, whereas if it's double doors, it wouldn't be like that. We highly recommend it and it's a game-changer.

Our customers expect the very BEST and we work hard to ensure those expectations are met. Thank you for accepting nothing less. We appreciate you being a valued member of the Viking family.

I've had my Viking Refrigerator for about five months now. Everything is great. I love the quality. My refrigerator is awesome. I'm very satisfied with everything. I recommend it to everybody that has come to my house. I tell them, “Go with Viking. You will not regret it.” The delivery and set up were very easy. It was just, we had a little bit of a hiccup due to the pandemic. Our oven came later than the rest of our items. But it’s understandable.

It's truly humbling to hear you are more than satisfied from start to finish. Thank you for giving Viking the chance to continue providing excellent service and quality.

The first two years with the Viking refrigerator was a nightmare. They came out 10 times. First, it was the wheels. Then it was the compressor. Then it was the coils. Something happened when it was put in. The people were inexperienced or they manhandled it. We told them to give us a new one and quit repairing it. It went back to Ferguson and they got us a new one. The install went better but the second refrigerator had a problem with the cooling fan. It was noisy from the second they plugged it in. Eventually, we got someone out. There were four or five different trips to repair this second one and sure enough, it was the fan.
After two years, two refrigerators and 15 visits, the Viking refrigerator is working like it should. It's a nice refrigerator, but we went through a lot of troubles. Between two refrigerators and the repair, every time they repair it, you gotta take all the food out and I probably got scuffs on the floor. We won't get Viking again. We paid four or five times as much purely because Viking has such a good reputation but the worst thing about our house was this refrigerator. It got so bad that we called the attorney general of Minnesota who stepped in on the case. Viking’s been very polite when we call them up. The problem is there are different groups to work with - my contractor, Vikings, Ferguson, the person who installs it and a different person who repairs it.

Thank you for letting us know of your experience. We deeply apologize for all areas of concern. We are pleased to see issues have been addressed and the refrigerator is working as it should. While we do not anticipate any further service, please reach out to Viking should the need arise.

I like my new refrigerator and the way it keeps everything cold in each area. There are no warm spots and it fits the space that we have perfectly. I wasn't gonna get a refrigerator with a rollout drawer on the bottom but it seemed to be made well so I opted to go with that instead of the side-by-side. People should do some research into what features each one has and then pick the one that fits overall what their needs are because one of the other reasons we didn't go with the side-by-side is because Viking makes them too tall. We couldn't have something that tall in our space. We only have 70 inches and a lot of those side-by-sides are 72-plus, and that's not gonna fit in the space. We'd have to take the cabinets out at the top and I don't wanna do that because I use those cabinets. So, it would be nice if Viking would make them a little smaller in a side-by-side too.
I know two other people who are struggling with the same thing. They have this standard spot that contractors made in their house for the refrigerator, and they're only about 70 inches tall. When you read the specs, a lot of those refrigerators want you to give them a 2-inch clearance at the top for air and we don't have that. Ours is smack way up to the top but we have air on each side. We haven't had the refrigerator that long but I'm anticipating that it's gonna be a real worker.

Viking makes every effort to listen and hear what our customers want, which is our foundation for newer and improved models. Thank you for being a part of what Viking is building.

It's a nice refrigerator. The only thing I didn’t like was we had a repair guy here twice already for two fans and then the ice wasn't working either. The technicians were very knowledgeable and courteous. They had to order a couple of parts. The first time we had a fan that went out, it took about two months to get. But the tech rigged it up some kind of way and it was not losing any kind of coolness to it, so it stays running. It’s just made it louder. Then we just got that other fan replaced last week. The tech came out and fixed that for us. It took us about three weeks before he got that part in to get it fixed for us. So quality-wise, it's not worth the price.

The logistics company delivered my Viking refrigerator to my house and dropped it off in my living room. They pushed it into the wall because it's one of those built-in wall units. They didn't connect it or they connected it but it wasn't right. There was this bottom metal piece that was supposed to be installed. I asked the guys if they were supposed to do that. They said they were not allowed to install those for liability purposes. I would have to get somebody to do it. It cost me almost $500 to have a Viking specialist come out and install it.
When the specialists came out, they said, “Your refrigerator’s not even drilled to the wall. Because if it's not, what can happen is if you open the door, the whole thing could tip over and could crush you.” The guy said they were gonna secure it, which they did. That was a pain, to begin with. The refrigerator side works fine. But we noticed that the icemaker was really slow from day one. We went back and forth with the Viking warranty people and Build.com where I purchased the refrigerator from. They sent somebody out to fix it four times. After the last time, it still wasn't working right. It never would produce over 20 ice cubes. Every time they would come out, they would tell me to give it 24 to 48 hours and I would have a big bin full of ice cubes. That never happened. We had family over and birthday parties. I had to go to 7-Eleven and grab a bag of ice and stick it in my freezer. After paying $15,000, that doesn't make me happy.
Build.com replaced the ice maker and it's still not working right. They apologized and they went ahead and ordered me a new refrigerator. But that refrigerator is not going to arrive until April 2022 so I'm stuck with this thing. It’s beautiful but it doesn’t make ice and the motor is really loud. I could have bought a car for that price I paid for the refrigerator so I want it to work 100%. Viking has been around for many years and they have beautiful products. After I placed the order with them versus Wolf, I happened to go online and I did some research and there are actually lots of really bad reviews. Viking is the least recommended. I have many regrets. I hate my refrigerator. We had issues with our other Viking products too like our stove and dishwasher.

I have a Viking stove that I've been pleased with it so I assumed their refrigerator would be of good quality. I got a brand new one and it was a store model because the other refrigerator was going to be a three-month wait, which I couldn't wait for. I received the refrigerator in June and I like the appearance of it. But I noticed one issue in mid-July where the door doesn't shut properly. The icemaker then broke in September. I noticed that it was freezing stuff in the back of the fridge. That was probably a few weeks afterward but I suspect it hadn't worked at all. I was told that there are three broken parts in my fridge and there is nothing that Viking can do until the supply chain works its way out. I'm not pleased.

We bought a 48" combined refrigerator and freezer and we were very happy with the size and the dimensions. We took it out of the box and we expected it'd be good to go and we wouldn't have any worries. However, there were some parts that were broken. I had to get my condenser coil replaced and my freezer wasn't making ice cubes. It was all covered under the warranty, it was just annoying. I called the warranty and told them the problem. They asked for the date of purchase, and it usually has the card that I have to register my products online with them and send them a receipt. Then they sent out the repair people and it got fixed. It's just right now, on the top, it's super freezing where my almond milk freezes. I have to get that recalibrated. My advice is to make sure to get the extended warranties that are out there for your appliance. You definitely need them, otherwise it would be very expensive to fix the appliances.

We had good luck with our Viking dishwasher and we really liked that a lot so we ended up doing the Viking refrigerator. We bought it from Best Buy and the woman was really knowledgeable and knew the brand well. She made the experience easy. I like that the Viking refrigerator is a counter-depth unit that we didn't have to have a built in. It was perfect for what we were looking for 'cause we didn't want to remodel the kitchen right away. The refrigerator also doesn't mark up easily and it's perfectly designed. The drawers, cabinets and storage spaces are very well-organized. We don't have any problems shifting things around.

Some say it's not what's on the outside, but the inside that matters. Viking believes both are important. The appearance makes a customer open THAT door. Thank you for upgrading with our brand and trusting our dealers.

My experience with my Viking has been great so far. I enjoyed the guy who sold it to me at Finwood Appliances. It's so much better than KitchenAid for about the same price. I like the way it looks and it feels well-made. I've had a stainless steel refrigerator before and I was constantly having to get fingerprints off. The Viking is better at not showing fingerprints. I also like the freezer and that there is no water dispenser because then I don't have water drips all over the front of my refrigerator. I just have a pitcher and I keep it in my refrigerator now for water. That's cleaner.

The techs came in and had to replace the whole shelf because they noticed that it wasn’t glued in from the factory. It came apart. The middle shelf that we had to have repaired that had the deli drawers in it isn't stable enough to put heavy items on it. And there is no other place to put heavy items on it. There should have been a middle bracket in the middle to support it against the back of the refrigerator. The new half freezer and half refrigerator is something new to me. I feel like it’s small. But the product is fine.

I liked Viking's reputation with the stoves, and form and fit. However, I'm disappointed with the refrigerator. We already had three service visits. We find it loud, which is a surprise to us. And it tends to ice things up in the fridge. The dealer has been responsive but they haven't been able to solve the problem. They said we have to live with the icing issue. That's by the design of the refrigerator. And that is also true of the compressor fan noise, which is, compared to the unit that we had that this replaced, it's significantly louder than I would expect any in-home refrigerator to be. And especially a high-end refrigerator like Viking.
For instance, for a long time it was loud enough that even the service person said, “Yes, that sounds like a failed bearing on the compressor fan.” And they came out and replaced that compressor fan. So they did that service. The original fan certainly had more of an issue. But the replacement fan is still significantly louder than the fridge that we had beforehand. If I could do it again, I wouldn't buy Viking.

Updated on 11/10/2021: I was prompted to respond to a previous review “privately” and feel my response should be “public” so I am requesting that this be linked to that previous complaint or minimally be made public as Viking’s public response was a deflection. The claim that it’s been sent to their escalation team is false as I have already been told by their in-house reps it’s been “escalated” for a the past week. Transparency is a good thing.
"Thank you for your response. After 9 months and numerous eta postponements I have been working with representatives within Viking aka Middleby Residential and have been told that our order was already expedited to your escalation team as of Tuesday November 9, 2021. In addition to speaking and emailing your internal representatives I have left a voice mail for Kevin ** -Viking President at ** to no avail. As of this evening 11/10/21 I have been emailed to direct all further inquires and questions to my local (NC) appliance dealer. Hmmm????? What??? I have filed formal complaints with BBB as well as this forum of ConsumerAffairs. I have also been contacted by Mississippi’s state Attorney Generals office today at 5:30 PM EST to provide them with more documentation. Which I will gather and forward tomorrow 11/11/21 -no problem.
The issue at hand is: I AGREE WITH YOU that because of the upside down and unprecedented supply chain disruption the world has limped through the past two years demand is up and supply is down. Where we part is: y’all should be clear and truthful with your valued customers. Good grief we love your slate blues and your apple reds and would partner with you unflinchingly but when you deflect and push off candidness with punting etas month to month to month ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. You’ve had my $36,343.96 for 9 months and are asking to hold it without delivering for 10-11 or more months. 3 out 6 appliances I have received are defective or damaged and I’d like to have to parts expedited to the repairman you’ve scheduled.
Be clear with your customers. Stop taking new orders on refrigeration products if you can’t fulfill them. Work on your current paid in full orders and field the questions your customers have. We’re all in this together. Quit hiding behind the retail and supply chain layers. Total looking forward to hearing from your escalation team personally. Original Review: We purchased a suite of 8 kitchen appliances from an authorized Viking dealer in Feb. 2021. Viking aka Middleby Residential requires customers to sign a contract acknowledging 16-20 week turnaround and payment in full. We complied knowing it would take longer than the stated eta due to the pandemic and unsettled supply chain as well as paid $36k in full at time of order. After 6 months of waiting I started to press for delivery so our contractors could wrap up our kitchen remodel. At the end of Sept (8 months later) I received 6 of the 8 Viking components and three (3) of them were defective or damaged; the built-in oven has a defective exterior cooling fan, the exhaust vent has a defective speed control knob and we forgave the dented side panel on the dishwasher as it is hidden (although it appeared to be damaged before packaging for shipment).
The real problem is the non-delivery of the 36" 5 series refrigerator and 18" 7 series freezer. After many emails and phone calls this past week I spoke with a Viking inside rep (Hannah W) today and she conveyed Viking is unable to source grill kits for their entire 5 series refrigeration line and has no information on availability for the parts needed for the entire 7 series line of refrigeration. This is basically what we suspected since June and had been given vague excuses and phantom eta's that came and went every 4 weeks. I have tried to email Kevin ** Viking's president without success so today I left a voicemail for him at ** with my contact information as he needs to hear his customer's concerns first hand.
How is it that this manufacturer can continue to place orders and demand payment in full on products they know they cannot supply?? Is this not deceit?? I have asked Viking to stop selling their refrigeration until all previous paid orders are completed. I have asked that they suspend their advertising of these units while knowing they do not have materials on hand to complete. I have also asked that they stop requiring 100% upfront payment knowing they cannot fulfill these orders and are basically able to use their customers' cash as interest free loans.
I have filed a grievance with the BBB and the state of Mississippi's Attorney General Lynn Fitch's office stating the above issues. Had Viking been upfront in the beginning and honest about availability, adjusted their payment policies to reflect the uncertain supply capabilities and provided repair parts for defective shipped appliances this would have felt more like a partnership instead of a grab and go sales deal.

Thank you for letting us know of your experience. We deeply apologize for all areas of concern. As with all manufacturers during this difficult time, Viking has experienced delays due to vendor availability. After careful review, your information has been forwarded to our escalation team. I was putting in a high-end kitchen and purchased all Viking products. They're industrial feeling. I like the size and capacity of the refrigerator. I also like the way it looks and the ability for it to be built into the kitchen. However, Best Buy managed to make the experience very difficult. There was a significant delay in a lot of the products and they couldn't figure out how to get updates. I ended up finding the 1-800-VIKING number and calling them directly to find out what was going on. I got updates myself because Best Buy acted like their hands were tied in the process.
Then Viking doesn't have support and service in my area other than Best Buy to install it, which makes the experience poor. So, even when I got my refrigerator installed, Best Buy acted like they weren't gonna be able to do it. They gave me a hard time about it ‘cause I didn't have cabinets in that they wanted. I had to escalate it just to get them to install it. It was so troublesome. I had the same issue with the hood for my range. But Best Buy ended up compensating me by giving complimentary five-year warranties on all my products. They also gave me a free range for about three months during the delay of the range from Viking because the delivery deadline was so different than what they originally communicated to me. They redeemed themselves, but it doesn't change their inability to deal with the process during the process.

I'm enjoying my Viking Refrigerator. It has great lighting. The shelf space has a nice arrangement. There's a lot of storage on the doors. I was particularly interested in a drawer freezer, and a one door upper unit versus side by side and it fit the bill. I also was interested in customizing the front of the fridge and it was able to accommodate that as well. I had a problem with one of the door shelves, and it was replaced. So that was fine.

I spent $9,900 for a top of the line refrigerator. Less than 3 years later, both refrigerator and freezer do not cool past 57 degrees. It took 5 days to get Viking to tell me they won't cover it. They sent me 5 repair companies - two don't cover my area. One has kept me on hold for 57 minutes. All my food is wasted. This is on top of the fact that two motors had to be replaced in year one; the door had to be repaired in 18 months and all three plastic drawers cracked almost immediately. Do NOT waste your money. This is a TERRIBLE PRODUCT.

We couldn't get our Viking delivered for a long time. I ordered it late March and they said it would be delivered by June. It didn't get delivered 'til July 28. The carrier didn't send it and it sat in a warehouse for over a month. Also, Viking is replacing my refrigerator because the ice maker stopped working. They have sent five people to fix it but they can't. Also, it doesn't hold very much. It's a counter-depth so I'm not used to that. Also, it's really tall so it has a lot of shelves. It's hard to reach the top shelf because it's 80-some inches tall. But I like the look and style of it and the cleanup is pretty good. It seems to deter the fingerprints.

I like the Viking brand name. It seems well-recognized and established. We also liked the design of the fridge. We wanted a top fridge, lower pullout freezer drawer, which is a more traditional unit that is harder to find. We've had a few issues with it since installation and the response has been good in getting those issues dealt with.
We've had one service technician come out. There was also an evaporation water spillover on the floor. And he was able to identify that the heating unit, which is optional, it was never explained to us nor was it turned on. So he installed one for us. That evaporation issue has gone away and we haven't had any more puddles on the floor.
Also, there hum from the fan in the condensation unit on the top of the fridge. And we're still trying to figure out whether that was because of the way it was installed or whether it's the device. He thought that with us wiggling the actual fit in the cabinet, it might improve the humming. It did but the humming is still with us. So we were going to live with it for another week and then I'm going to call another service order request or pull the fridge out and put it back in to see if that makes any difference.
Our experience with respect to Viking has been more than satisfactory. They provide ample information with respect to the installation preparation and making sure the cabinet fits. Our cabinet was designed for the original KitchenAid. So we had to substitute a different refrigerator with slightly different dimensions. But it still fit.

So far, it's working but it has squeaky doors which makes me think there's some issue with the alignment.

The people who repaired at our beach house in Florida did a great job and they were very nice. They got our Viking fixed. But when I spend that kind of money on appliances, I shouldn't have to have them fixed, especially two of them the day they were installed. The way the world is today, it took eight weeks to get somebody to fix them. It was not a good situation.
We will not be buying any more Viking appliances, though we bought a lot in the past and they look great. We’ve been very, very disappointed with the quality of them. It has gone downhill. We had a Viking range and refrigerator in our old house and the range was fabulous and the fridge was terrible due to the interior water dispenser that constantly leaked water that pooled inside the fridge. When we moved to our new home, we needed to, once again, buy a new fridge and we (stupidly) purchased another Viking fridge because we were told the interior water dispenser was discontinued because it was a defective design. NOW, we have no water dispenser and we have an entirely new problem -- where the ice maker sprays water all over the inside of the freezer causing a film of ice to cover everything.
Now, I have to "defrost" my freezer ever 3 weeks like my mom did in the 1970s by taking everything out and scraping chunks of ice out of of the freezer. When the ice maker DOES work, it makes one tray of ice about every 12 hours which is not helpful for a family of 5. We have had the freezer serviced 3x which has cost us a thousand dollars and each time the repairman tells me how many Viking fridges he is called for -- and how AWFUL Viking customer service is. They won't even return his calls. If I could give them a ZERO, I gladly would.

The quality of the Viking refrigerator is okay. But I would have liked to have features that other refrigerators have and Viking does not, like an ice and water dispenser in the door. Also, the fridge has an ice maker that dumps ice in a tray in the freezer section of the refrigerator. If you pull out the freezer section, ice cubes in the back tumble out on the ground. I don't see that as being a positive feature of the refrigerator at all. I've never had a refrigerator that tumbled ice cubes on the floor because the tray isn't holding properly. Other than those two things, I like the refrigerator. As far as keeping things cool, it keeps things cool. It looks attractive on the inside, too. You push the buttons and it keeps things where it's supposed to keep.

We got a stove and some other appliances. The stove, we had issue with. It's a gas stove. The proper gas nozzle apertures were requested when we ordered it but they were not sent. And there were some issues between our local dealer getting that correct nozzle. That took time. And during the installation, the installers broke a piece of the stove or the oven. And it took two times to get the correct part. They got it the first time and they installed it, and the local people who were our installers and our repairer as well, said, “This isn't right.” So it went back to Viking. We talked to somebody. Got it right. And same thing with those nozzles. It wasn't done correct the first time. I don't know where that issue lies, if it was with our local person not being able to articulate what was properly needed, or Viking not understanding or sending the wrong piece altogether.
We chose Viking for several reasons. The aesthetics of it, how it looks, the way it would fit into our kitchen, the design, and its reliability, that it was a very good brand. I like how, when we open the doors, they feel substantial. Most refrigerator and freezer doors, you open them, they feel lightweight and not put together well. The Viking, when you open it up, that door is heavy. It's not heavy like I can't open it. But it feels very substantial, that I have something there that would hold up and done well.

Lowe's told me when I bought it that even though it was cosmetically damaged, it'd be under factory warranty. Viking sent a repairman out because they acknowledged the warranty. When they were at my house, they said, "It was damaged in shipping and you have to call Lowe's.” So I called the warranty company and they said “You bought it on sale from Lowe's. Therefore, it’s as is.”
Then I said, “I wouldn't have bought the refrigerator for $6,000 if I thought it was not under warranty.” So they said, “You’re beat.” And Lowe’s said, “You’re beat ‘cause you bought it at a discount.” So I had to buy a Sub-Zero. Neither company helped me. Needless to say, I don’t have confidence in either Lowe's or Viking. I wasted $6,000 in one year. I lost the $6,000 and then I paid $12,000 for the Sub-Zero. Fact: Doors are cracked and freezer doesn't work, refrigerator freezing everything. Fact: Notified retailer, they sent two repair people to appraise, both said it should be replaced. Fact: Third repairperson finally told us what Viking wanted to say, which was "it can be fixed if we replace the doors and thermostats."
Vikings policy is they will NOT take back, even a brand new appliance, if they can replace all of the parts. Problem, parts have been on backorder so we have no freezer for 2 months and our refrigerator freezes our food. Viking did offer us $400 to buy another refrigerator until the parts finally come in. Where are we to put this, and where can I get one for $400 with installation? I have begged, literally, for them to replace it... I didn't ask for our money back, just replace with a quality item... There is one thing I wish they did have that is not there, and that's a filter for the water that goes to the ice. 'Cause typically the water connections are behind it, and since this is built-in, it's not like a regular fridge where you can pull it out and then change the filter. I had to run a line from my reverse osmosis system to go to the back, even though there's a water connection with the spigot built into my house behind it. But everything else has been great. When we first got the refrigerator, the bottom of the freezer started filling up with ice. The technician came out. Somehow, in the construction of the refrigerator, all this insulation had been sprayed down the tubes and supposed to drain that stuff out. They replaced the whole refrigerator. But then the bottom of each of the doors of the new refrigerator were all clogged up with the same sort of spray foam insulation. The technician came out again said that the doors needed to be replaced. NOW, I'm going on five months waiting for that. Viking is just waiting for the new doors to be manufactured.
The refrigerator works, but it's not right yet, and I took a five-year extended warranty on it. With this defect, I'm wondering if that five-year extended warranty is going to be extended when I finally get a refrigerator that works properly. I wish it was something that could be resolved in a timely manner. I understand people gotta wait for parts, but I bought the refrigerator at the end of December, and I'm still waiting for it to be fixed.

Thank you for taking the time to let Viking know of the issue you have experienced. We will be following up with the service provider to make sure all areas have been addressed and the unit working as it should for you.

I waited over 6 months for delivery of my Viking 48” Refrigerator. The evening after install it started to have a loud grinding sound that ran 24hrs. Even at 6am I can hear it grind from upstairs as I go to the kitchen. Why is it running at 6am when not opened for 12hrs? I called Viking and they sent out a service rep who listened and decided it could be a condenser fan. I questioned if only a fan issue why does it run 24hrs? He said a part would be sent to me directly and I was to call for him to return. It has been six weeks and no contact from Viking or Repairman.
A box arrived today with a flat piece of steel “fan bracket” I called service who asked me to send photo of what I received. They did not tell me what part was ordered and have not yet provided any estimate for repair. I am requesting them to refund or replace this faulty refrigerator and no response from Viking. The refrigerator appeared to be nicely made, and it had a very nice exterior finish and design. It also had a good price point relative to other built-in fridges and a very nice incentive plan in effect when we made the purchase. I went from a freezer combo to this 42-inch side-by-side refrigerator. I love opening a smaller door whenever I go into the refrigerator. I really like the interior lighting and the space at the very bottom which allows you to put in a full pizza pie or deep-dish thing in there. Even though it's a very shallow fridge, it's got a fairly open spot at the very bottom, which I like a lot. All the bins seem to be very nicely made. I'm pretty happy with the fridge. The only issue I have with the freezer is that the cold air from the freezer compartment coming into the refrigerator comes in at one spot at the top. So things next to that will have a tendency to freeze, especially if something warm is put somewhere else in the fridge.
I bought the Viking refrigerator from Best Buy and they were helpful. They had difficulties in the delivery mostly because of supply shortages and also in terms of getting here in the time frame that my association allows. The biggest issue I had was that they didn't install the refrigerator properly. They never screwed it in. They left about a 3/4-inch gap above the fridge in the cabinets. I went online and figured out how to jack it up, which I did, and leveled it and screwed it in. So all looks great now. But I did most of the installation myself because the guys didn't know how to do it. It didn't bother me that much because I didn't pay a separate installation fee. But it would have been more helpful if they told me the truth that they aren't gonna install it and I should hire someone to do it.

So, there were three times that they came and changed, and then they replaced the fridge altogether. The technicians were fine, but it took me a long time. I got the refrigerator in February, and finally, the replacement came and happened in April. Still, overall, I'm satisfied with Viking.

The house that my wife and I bought in 2016 has Viking appliances in the kitchen. The refrigerator was a 2012 model that was installed and purchased in 2013, so we were a little disappointed that it released all the Freon and was unrepairable by 2021. We're disappointed that though the Viking Refrigerator that we had to get fit in the space for the one that we had without having to redo cabinets, it no longer has a water dispenser in the door. That was a big letdown.
We also had to replace the door seal on a dishwasher and Viking had stopped making replacement parts for it. We ended up replacing the entire dishwasher. The repair service is a real pain in Connecticut because there's only one authorized company. To get them out to actually look at our refrigerator, even on an emergency basis, was a matter of weeks.

I have a Wolf grill and a Heartland stove. I have very high-end appliances in my home and the Viking fridge is a dog. When the reps brought it out here, they scratched my floor. Then, the door handles had a dent in them, which took six weeks to get fixed. Aside from that, the ice maker wasn't working and when they came out, they told us the motherboard was fried. It was a brand-new $11,000 refrigerator and the motherboard was fried. And the repairman said that happens a lot. So, I'm not happy with it. I had a Sub-Zero for 21 years and it never gave me a problem. Viking has been nothing but problems. It's loud and when the motor goes on, I hear it.

The refrigerator is beautiful and I love it. But the frame of the refrigerator is torqued and it won't seal, so water condensation builds. Viking already knows about it and they plan to replace the refrigerator in October. Each time I reached out to Viking, the response was prompt and helpful. But Viking never took the lead on ensuring that the appliance challenges were resolved. I had the lead the entire time and I had to reinitiate multiple times a resolution to the problem. I gave this feedback to the service manager in a helpful way. Somebody needed to follow up with me about whether the problem was fixed or not rather than relying upon me to follow up with Viking. Also, Viking should double down on their QA efforts at their plants at this point in time because there were three things wrong with the refrigerator, one of them being so structurally wrong that it's irreparable.

They've had three different service people come to my house and they don't know how to repair it. I'm waiting to hear back from them because I want my refrigerator replaced. It's rusted, it has discoloration, and the inside parts, God only knows what they look like. My floor is warped and I've had to stick Bounty paper towels under my refrigerator to absorb the water that pours out. I'm a chef instructor and Viking is among the top brands. My choice was between Viking and Wolf, and Viking, hands down, won out, certainly among all my colleagues. Viking was also offering awesome sales that I felt I needed to take advantage of because I also needed a microwave. However, going through the purchase was absolutely horrific. My biggest mistake was that I went through an online retailer, Appliances Connection, instead of going through someone local. They were offering, at the time, the best price but they were miserable. They were really good at taking my money.
It took several months for everything to be in stock. When the delivery was scheduled, they were supposed to give me warning but they did not and I had to rush home from work. I'm a teacher so I had to have somebody cover my class because they called and said they were going to be at my house in 10 minutes. It was absolutely ridiculous. We were told that we would have their "white glove service", which means putting the appliances in place and installing it but they did none of that. They left all of that plastic on that the refrigerator comes delivered with which was excruciating to get off. It took my husband and I about two hours to get all that plastic off.
The biggest problem that we still have to this day is the fact that we can't get the refrigerator leveled. The bottom freezer door sometimes closes but sometimes it doesn't. If we don't shove that door in, it will sit ajar and I'm very frustrated by that. I get that all of these French door refrigerators are persnickety in a way, but I expected more from Viking. I called Appliances Connection and they said they'd refund me the installation fee. But they didn't do that and it doesn't solve the problem. I had sent a message through Viking's online service several months ago but I never heard back from that. I finally had some time where I could stay on the phone and got through to Viking. I was told to call a number and they'd take care of it. I called the number and the woman was very nice. She said I'd be hearing from somebody in a week to 10 days but I never did hear from anybody.
I still have a refrigerator that I would like to love very much but I'm not loving it so much right now. I would love to hear from somebody from Viking because I'm not a happy customer. If their representative had done what they were supposed to do, it probably would never have gone back to Viking. But I don't think Viking's done a good job of having a proper network in place to make sure that customers get taken care of. These are not cheap products. I can get a crappy appliance and crummy service by going anywhere. Between the pieces that I got, I spent close to $12,000. That's a lot of money. But I would still buy Viking products because they're a leading brand in the industry, they have a good warranty and I love the way they look.

Updated on 10/27/2021: I bought my Viking refrigerator on october 2020 from Mr. Jay Appliance but I received it on February 2021. Since February, the refrigerator's door was imbalanced and inside the refrigerator was warm. I called them and the company sent a technician to solve the problem. They keep sending the technician for 7 times during 8 months to my house to solve the different problems and still they couldn't fix it. I keep telling them that this refrigerator has to change but they don't listen to me and as a customer, I can not use the refrigerator.
Original Review: This is the worst refrigerator that I've ever purchased. We ordered all of our Viking appliances while our kitchen was being remodeled. It arrived on February of this year, when our new kitchen remodel was finished. After delivery, I saw that the refrigerator doors were not parallel to each other. From then on I kept on calling them so they could fix it. They finally fixed it but then again the freezer started frosting very badly. So I called them again, after 2 weeks I received the new part and they finally came and installed a new part for freezer. So now my refrigerator started frosting again. I keep telling them that this refrigerator needs to be exchanged but they just keep sending me a technician to come fix it. They can't. I made a big mistake getting the Viking refrigerator.

They said that they would send a tech out right away but we were like, "Nope". We went back to Nebraska Furniture Mart and had them order a new one. It took us about six weeks to get everything else in. I love the look of the Viking set. Everyone looks and says, "Oh, you have Viking."

I like the looks of the Viking appliances and my husband got a good deal on them. The refrigerator's good though it's a little smaller than I thought it would be. The range, unfortunately, hasn't been working very well, so I've had to call the service a few times. It was good as well, but the burners keep clicking and you just don't expect that from the price point. Aside from that, their servicemen weren't very helpful. When they first came, they didn't fix the problem. And the second one said that he was going to fix it, but then said he was going to call back and hasn't. Also, the range takes a very long time to preheat and get to the right temperature. I had a Miele in my former house and it did the same thing. And the technician said that that's just the way it is when he fixed that one. And they said the same thing about the Viking one. All in all, Viking's products are probably good and we just got one that's not working 100%.

Purchased top of the line Viking fridge for 10K 3 years ago and about 9 months after purchase the crisper drawers were collapsing down onto the bottom shelf of the refrigerator making about half the fridge unusable. Viking sent out their service company and changed the middle shelf which the crisper drawers hang from and changed the slider brackets. Worked fine for about 3-4 months and then the same thing happened again. Viking came out and changed the parts again with exactly the same type of parts. Worked fine for about 4-5 months and then the drawers started collapsing down again when you would open a drawer. Well this went on for 3 more additional services and I think at about the 3rd or fourth service Viking said the fridge was out of warranty! LOL!
I informed them that you can't replace defective parts with the same exact defective parts until the warranty runs out and then say the fridge is out of warranty. So they sent a repair company back out who charged me $149.00 to look at the crisper drawers laying at the bottom of the fridge and said yep they're broke and left. Then they sent a different service company out and they changed the parts again and again it failed after several months.
So I decided to take matters into my own hands and I rigged a plastic spacer and thick brass washer behind the middle shelf to kind of wedge the crisper drawers in place. That has held up but was only suppose to be a temporary fix until Viking came up with a permanent solution. Kim from Middlebery that owns the Viking brand said they are working on it, that was back in February and now it's radio silence 3 months later. Kim asked me at that time do I want them to come out and fix the shelf till the engineers come up with a solution. I said no my Rig is working so far and no sense having Viking come out and waste both our time and money installing more defective parts. Well no good deed goes unpunished cause it looks like I'm stuck with my fancy refrigerator being rigged up so that it's functional. And oh by the way the crisper drawers are now all cracked and the sliders broken from falling down so many times.
This is frustrating, embarrassing and not right, to spend ten thousand dollars on what's suppose to be a superior brand and have it fall apart and get no company support! Our KitchenAid fridge lasted 20 years and we could have bought the exact replacement for 2 k less! But we wanted to upgrade but instead got a tremendous downgrade. If you want a built in stick with Sub Zero. That's why my son in law Vince The Builder only uses Sub Zero in his multi multi million dollar homes he builds. He will soon be doing a video of my fridge for his 200K instagram followers to show his clients why he won't use Viking appliances. I hope this saves the next person from going thru the same ordeal as me.

For my kitchen renovation, my design company that they use, Ferguson's and the chain of them here in the southeast, the only ones they had everything in stock was Viking. And when I purchased the stove, I got a free dishwasher. Headquarters had to call a lot and I had to have people here all the time. They were really concerned. When you open the fridge, the drawer to pull out, which is cold and you can keep cheese and meats in it, I cut my fingers and they were concerned and had headquarters call. And then, the repair people -- everything was free -- coming out all the time from Fort Myers. The guy called it metal burrs that haven't been sanded down. That was quite a worry. They called me from Mississippi. It's very rare and it just wasn't finished. And depending where you place your fingers, you could cut them on metal to open that inside drawer. So, that was a bad experience.
Also, the freezer didn't shut properly and the tech had come out several times. It was the most finite adjustment on something. But I could have lost a couple of hundred bucks worth of food because the alarm kept going off. And he came and fixed it, and an hour and a half later, the alarm went off again. He thought he fixed it. So, it was really challenging for the Morale in Fort Myers to contract repair people with Viking here in this area. That was maddening. And then, the dishwasher, an extra button for quietness fell right off on the floor, and it was a glue problem. The Morale had to come again.
It's free for me under warranty. It just was disconcerting and all the appliances were brand-new. I heard him talk to headquarters and he said, "Yes it's a glue issue." And he said, "No, I can't reuse it. It's covered in labrador fur and cat hair," which as soon as it started to hang out and the labrador would walk against it and it hung down from the bottom. It didn't seem to make much difference in the quietness. It's an incredibly quiet dishwasher anyway. But they had to order a new one, so that took a while, and they had to come back and put that in. That was a surprise, all that happened right away. But everything got fixed and I've been very pleased since. It's a super quiet dishwasher and I like the red light that shines on the floor that shows when it's on.
And then, all the new fridges, all brands, the alarm for the freezer and different ways to adjust the temperature of that meat drawer and the freezer. And then, I like the microwave. It's so nice and simple. There were higher-end ones with the convection fan in the microwave, and I got simplest because I picked over the stove with the vent pan under the microwave. The way my kitchen was designed, it seemed the best route rather than a hood.
The stove is unbelievable. This induction stove is the best thing in the planet. I heard good things about them and everybody I know who's renovating was getting new appliances, and new stoves are getting induction, and we're just in shock about it was the fastest we've ever seen to boil water or cook. So safe, the way the magnetic field isn't hot. The oven is incredibly fast too. It's interesting. You don't have to preheat at all.
The fix-it guy is a surprise too. He was fabulous, a longtime veteran and knows all his Vikings, and he was stunned. He was so puzzled about the freezer not closing. He thought of it truly as a challenge, a puzzle he had to solve. Because when he thought he fixed it, just 90 minutes later, it broke again. So truly, puzzled, and worked on the phone a long time with Viking in Mississippi and tried to solve it. It was the most infinitesimal thing, some tiny adjustment of a gear in the bottom drawer of the freeze. One tiny little gear off compared to the other side and it meant it couldn't close completely, and then it couldn't stay cold.
That was his first time ever had to have that. Also, the button that fell off, he was also puzzled. We couldn't figure out where it fell off from. Just one day, I was just looking, and I'd hardly had the dishwasher, and there it was hanging down the bottom, then it came completely off, and I called him up. When he came, "You sure that came from this?" He figured out where it was, couldn't save the old one or the new one, and it took a while to come. But ever since, things have been okay.

When I went to Ferguson, they didn't have any Viking on their floor. The salesperson said, “You know what, Latrina, I wish you would have came to us first because our customers had so many problems with Viking. We had to take it off our floor as display items.” I said, “Well, frankly, I won't have these problems.” So, I got the product. In February the appliance repair company called Viking and they were told the part would come in February 26 and that it would be sent out by overnight air when it arrived. February 26 came and went. No word.
Yesterday I called Viking and spoke to a customer service rep who took my info and told me someone would call me back. No one called. Today I called and spoke to a different customer service rep and was told that there is no expected arrival time of these parts to the Viking factory. I was told some people are waiting 6 months or a year. I'm sorry but I call BS on that.
Here's the thing: This is a popular model of refrigerator. Clearly they must be getting these parts at the factory and installing them in new product to be sold while ignoring current customers like me. Not only is this bad business, I believe it is dishonest when they tell me that none of these parts have come in. I'm kind of an in internet guy. We came to really enjoy and like the way the Viking refrigerator looked and we decided to purchase one. The quality seems fantastic. We've had one little bump in the road where it wasn't defrosting properly in the freezer and they sent a tech out. Not only was the guy very knowledgeable, but more impressive than anything was that he had the broken parts on his truck. 9 out of 10 times when we ever have somebody come out to fix any appliance, it's always a miracle, no matter what breaks, they never have it on the truck. So this guy knew exactly what he was doing and he was effective. He was in and out in 45 minutes.
But I didn't realize until we got the refrigerator home and the wife and I looked at it that it wasn't quite as deep as we thought it was going to be when we saw it on the showroom, from a standpoint of inside the refrigerator. But maybe they have one of the deeper models. Other than that, it's a beautiful piece of almost like furniture, especially the lighting inside of it, which is fantastic. The sales part was absolutely a pleasure. I bought the Viking appliances at a great store which has all the high-end stuff. For some reason, I picked Viking because I have heard of it in the past. I didn't know any of the other names but I looked at everything. I liked the oven probably because my wife is short and the way the door opened and the way she could access the oven was probably the only oven that was like that. So, we purchased it. We knew that Viking was a good name, which was why we purchased all the rest of the appliances to match. Every appliance in my kitchen is Viking and I’m very unhappy that every piece came with some kind of damage. The refrigerator door never opened correctly and the cooktop has a little blemish on the front of it in the face panel. But I have no problems with the top and bottom oven. That's been great.
The refrigerator was less than a year old and it has been having a problem with the LED lighting. They have been going out so I called for service. They sent somebody who came completely unprofessional and scratched the inside of my refrigerator with a pick trying to get the light out. The whole inside of the refrigerator is powder-coated and it is not replaceable. The service guy spent two hours there and never fixed it. I called complaining that he made a mess out of my refrigerator. He said that with everything that's going on in the world, there are worse problems in life than a scratch inside my refrigerator. This is a $12,000 refrigerator. After about two months later, he finally came and replaced the burnt-out LED lights that were in it and he touched up the scratch.

The center tab of the door doesn’t match correctly. It slams into the other door. The clearance there is just off sixteenths of an inch. Any weight that you put on the door would make that clearance such that that tab will pop out again then you end up closing the door and slamming the other door so you can close it. I called different people who are Viking certified to look at it three times but they couldn't fix it. I don't know if this door issue is a manufacturing issue or an installation issue. I have another cheap refrigerator for 600 bucks and that works a lot better when it comes to doors and functionality.

However, the refrigeration portion was faulty so we called our warranty and they did replace it. It's now working fine but that's not expected when you spend that much money on a refrigerator. It was a bit disappointing. For a week, we had to figure out how we were going to store food. We ended up having two technicians come out because they didn't communicate. It was a bit of a mess but it's over and I'm glad.

We’re on our second Viking refrigerator because the first one failed after approximately eight years. The newer refrigerator which we got last year is operating great. It has not had the same problems at this point but having to replace a Viking after eight years, I've never had that kind of circumstance with any other refrigerator brand. There are some parts that get frozen then they start to melt and leak in the refrigerator. They don't go out to the drain. There is this freezing thawing process that is part of the regular refrigeration process but the pathway for the melting gets blocked up. It gets frozen too so the water accumulates in the bottom of the refrigerator. That had happened a couple of times.
I've had problems with a variety of Viking products from double ovens to the refrigerators. I have two homes and I have full suites of Viking appliances in both kitchens. I’ve not been thrilled with them. Viking is overrated. They have a cachet but their performance and reliability do not live up to that cachet. There are lesser prestige brands that perform better than Viking.

I heard the Viking refrigerator is a good one but I'm not too happy with them. I always have issues with the refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, etc. I wish I never bought them. My stove is really bad and the lights go off on the refrigerator. Sometimes the freezer randomly gets soaked. I have to put everything out, turn off the refrigerator then restart again. At one time, somebody came and fixed the problem. The guy was good. He was trying his best but I don't want to spend too much time every time waiting for them to come.

The quality of our Viking Refrigerator is not up to par. There are trim pieces that are exposed. You can see the white plastic trim pieces on the inside of the full-sized freezer and the full-size two refrigerators. One of the under-counter refrigerators in the master bedroom has been making a rattling noise ever since we've received it. I don't expect to deal with those issues when we've spent nearly $100,000 on appliances. We ordered our appliances through Winsupply and they sent out a license authorized service repair person. He relayed to us the message from Viking that the refrigerators and freezers we got were within their variants of production. We're used to using other appliance brands and they will never say that that is an acceptable variant.
Our induction cooktop didn't work when we first got it and we had multiple trouble calls. They said they had to make a new part. Every month, they would call us and tell us that it was backlogged another month, and they'd push it out another month. It took them four months before the Viking representative finally called us and said that they would just replace it. They should have just replaced it brand new upfront when it wasn't working. We still don't have an industrial cooktop that works.

I liked Viking's looks and reputation. However, we already had the refrigerator serviced. There were issues with the door. We bought it through Best Buy and they were difficult to deal with. They put the fridge in a flush mount and the one that we got is not a flush mount. So, it's just not installed correctly. Also, we had a lot of issues with Best Buy. Just having them set up delivery, their delivery people coming out, not telling us to do certain things that we needed to do before installation. And it went with everything that we had, with the stove and the dishwasher. The only thing that went okay was the microwave. I love my stove. But I had two things serviced already.

I like the size of the Viking refrigerator. Also, the icemaker is something that I like. It's on the inside, not on the outside. There's a small bracket that's built in to keep the door from opening all the way. But that broke and they told me that it was common breakage. It probably could be made out of some better materials so it wouldn't break. Other than that, the customer service was good.

The quality of the service from Viking is pretty good and their reps have been great. On the very top of the refrigerator door where you put the butter, it has these little flimsy plastic doors that hang over. When you shut the refrigerator, the plastic doors open and the butter comes out. Viking could make those a little bit more stationary or stick more. I also had to have someone come because the ice maker wasn't working. But the problem was they could only come and service our house on Tuesdays and Thursdays but we'd be at work. So it's hard to have someone come out to service the ice maker. They were great about getting to send someone out but I had to cancel it because I thought I was going to be able to have someone here. I can't have someone here all day and then they'll call and give me a two-hour window that day.

Viking had a large selection, a solid website and competitive pricing. That's why we've chosen to use them. Unfortunately, I regret purchasing from a wholesale applianve store. I understood that because of COVID, the fridge took a very long time to arrive at our house. But from day one, the fridge never even worked. I contacted Appliances Connection and never heard an answer back. So I went through a technician who referred me to the Viking warranty technician in town. He came out and told me that the Viking fridge that I purchased had a manufacture date of somewhere in 2018. This was the fall of 2020 when I got the fridge. He also said that there was damage on the inside of it. He has replaced it and the fridge has been working fine since. But for about 90 days, I had a refrigerator in my kitchen that wouldn't get cold.
I never got in touch with Appliances Connection ever. I had to go out on my own to find out who was the Viking warranty technician in town and that process was very pleasurable. Once I got hold of Viking Corporate, they resolved the issue very easily. Now that the fridge has been fixed by the warranty technician, nothing out of my pocket, everything has been great. Viking, as a company, has done a great job. We're enjoying the fridge and I love it. All the new technology is new and fun to us since my wife and I haven't purchased a new fridge in probably a decade.

I got the tall, 36-inch one-door refrigerator with the drawer-freezer on the bottom. I got three of those. I got one for the basement and two for my kitchen. So, I put them side-by-side. We have a big family, and we buy a lot. The refrigeration’s going okay. After like a month, the one in the basement stopped working. They did set up service. Something was leaking up on top. So, they did schedule somebody to come out, and it took a while to get the part. Then, by the time the tech came out, it was three months later. So, there was no refrigeration usage in the basement. It was kind of a little disappointing that we had to deal with that.
Also, whenever I open that one little drawer where the ice bin is, I always seem to lose ice cubes into the freezer. It shuts itself off, but I don't think it shuts itself off soon enough once it's a bit full, or if the bin is not large enough that ice cubes tend to fall out whenever we open that door. So, that was something I wasn't too crazy about because now I got ice cubes on the bottom of the freezer that I gotta try to get out. I think they're priced high because of these little issues. When you spend so much money, you expect it to be perfect. You don't expect these little things just happen the way they do. I would expect that on a very less expensive refrigerator freezer.

Beware Beware Beware! I have owned a Viking refrigerator for 3 years and have had 9 service calls so far. The model rvrf336ss5 has been known to have leaking issues and freezing issues in the chill drawers. It is a sleek and nice fridge in appearance but don’t be fooled.
Viking will do support teams are essentially trained to do everything they can to not replace their faulty merchandise. After 9 service calls the service department said they still lacked sufficient information. Viking will send their own “approved” service department, who essentially are too scared to report the truth because Viking will pull their contracts. This isn’t an opinion rather what we were backhandedly told. I am a handicapped frontline medical worker who has now retired and my husband is a frontline medical worker. The resident asked us to replace the fridge because it’s giving him fits and he’s a VIP. This is a penthouse unit, which is why we went with Viking appliances. Now, we’re waiting on a mainboard and a defrosting panel and waiting on parts is very frustrating.
I've had some difficulties with dishwashers too. It's not so much the quality of the manufacturing as it may be how they were installed, unpacked. Some of the soundproofing and gasketing on the bottom of the dishwashers have fallen off. They're also a little too high tech for our residents. We had people do a lot of research on how to use the dishwasher.

We were looking for refrigerators when remodeling our kitchen, and I liked the inside of the Viking. I wish I hadn't picked Viking though. After 12 years, we had to replace the refrigerator. We have the double that are side by side, which was extremely expensive in replacing it. And now, it's been double the price. So, I don't have good feelings about Viking. I would never buy it again. We paid to have it fixed once or twice, which was very expensive. I had found the quality to be very poor.
There was something wrong with our freezer door, which the freezer mechanism has already been replaced as well at great expense. I complained immediately about the refrigerator when it was put in. It should have been replaced. The door was faulty. I was put through so many hoops. We finally gave up. That door should have been replaced from the beginning, and then we wouldn't have had this problem. They wanted to charge us $600 to come out to look at it before they even replaced it after we had already spent money and had it evaluated by somebody they approved of. They were charging us again. They should come and take both of the refrigerator and freezer out and replace them. I'm very unimpressed. I'm disappointed with Viking refrigerator and freezers.

I would recommend it, but I'd tell others about the icemaker issue. Other than that, the Viking looks amazing and the overall quality is great. I like the metal functions. I've been holding off giving this review because I was hoping our problem with Viking is going to be resolved sooner than what we are experiencing. We have now occupied our home for almost 2 years and the warranty on these appliances will soon expire. Our builder installed the 7 series built in side by side refrigerator and freezer into our newly built home. The fridge started acting up 3 months into closing. It started with it not cooling, then the water dispenser not working. The freezer also quit working. Viking kept sending their contract maintenance and he kept ordering parts and installing them with the appliances still not working. There are so many dents inside this fridge it doesn't even look brand new anymore.
It's preposterous for a supposedly a high end appliance in a brand new home over $500K. I've had better appliances supposedly from lower end brands that performed way better than these Viking freezer and fridge. Finally this month, they replaced the refrigerator after having us go through unsafe food storage because the appliances weren't working properly for months. Now the replacement fridge is convoluted with the freezer. The top part of the fridge is sticking out and the lower end of the fridge is pushed further than the freezer.
Both appliances aren't aligned properly. It's disgusting how a home of this value would have appliances installed so poorly. The installers even admitted that Viking should have replaced both appliances because the freezer is an older model. After the installers left, the freezer quit making ice again. We called Viking and of course, they will once again send the maintenance person who had been trying to "fix" these issues. DO NOT get a Viking fridge and freezer! It's absolutely disgusting how the customer service dealt with this problem without resolution until now. They should have replaced these appliances right away. I could purchase a pre-owned vehicle of the same price that would run better than these appliances.

I remodeled my kitchen in 2018 and purchased all Viking appliances. Less than 2 years later I already have problems with the dishwasher (the detergent door doesn't open during the wash cycle), the freezer stopped making ice and the door to my steam oven spontaneously shattered when I opened it. I know this sounds crazy but it is absolutely true. I was opening the door, heard a pop and all of a sudden the glass started shattering.
When I contacted Viking I was told my appliances were out of warranty. They only warranty them a year but who expects these expensive, high end appliances to start having problems so soon? My old (non-high end) appliances lasted 20 years! I never once had a problem. What's most upsetting is Vikings attitude. I thought I was purchasing high quality appliances from a reputable company but that's not the way I feel anymore. Their customer service is terrible. They are slow to respond to emails and phone calls and truly don't seem interested in helping their customers or standing by their product.
I had one service company they recommended come and leave with out fixing anything. The service tech said I should just put the detergent pod in the utensil holder and he glanced at the ice maker, said there was an ice cube stuck and declared it fixed. So here I am, a month later with nothing resolved. My biggest regret is not researching. Before you buy: research, get recommendations from friends, visit different appliance stores and talk to the sales people. And read reviews on web sites other than the brands site. I noticed Viking has no negative reviews on their site.

I was doing a re-do and I didn’t do a lot of research. I recognized the Viking name and I expected it would be a quality product. Since the moment they went in, I find the customer service to be horrific. We had some issues. The stove was leaking. The refrigerator was leaking. The dishwasher hasn't been working properly. All kinds of things. Trying to get through to their customer service meant I needed to reach out to some third party contacts. It was very hard to reach them by phone, I had to email them. It took over a week to hear back before they even got in touch with me.
Then they had to contact a service representative. The service representative from my area was horrific. He came into my home and said, “I can't really look at that for you. I can't really touch that because Viking’s not gonna pay me to do that,” which doesn't exactly lead me to believe that there's a lot of support for anything that goes wrong. Some of the things would have been super easy fixes have they just been willing to say, “Okay, it's a brand new product, and we're gonna help you.” But they didn't do that.
My most recent issue was that the refrigerator is less than six months old, and the vegetable and fruit trays fell off the track. I couldn't get them back on. My husband couldn't get them back on. So we called and that was a month ago. To this day, we still have no answer on how they will rectify that situation. After two weeks, the horrific service man came, looked at it, touched it for one second, and said, “I think it's cosmetic. It will be $325 to fix.” That was the last I heard from him. I told him we're not paying $325. It's brand new and it's not cosmetic. A track on a brand new refrigerator is in no way cosmetic. I didn't smash the stainless steel on the outside of the refrigerator or even crack the glass of a shelf, which I could understand. But a track is a working part. That's unacceptable.
My husband said yesterday that it is a piece of junk. We bought an entire suite as a rebuild. It was a big investment for us. It wasn't an easy purchase, it was something that we did because we thought it would add value to our home and it would be quality appliances, and we wouldn't have to call service a million times like we might have had to call if we bought GE appliances. But I would have been way better off with that. I also had Sub-Zero refrigerators for 35 years before this. Two of them only over 20 years each, and I never had to call the service company.
The dishwasher, which we have not called them for service, already has parts that have fallen off of it. It's the most disappointing purchase of my life. I would never buy Viking again. I would never recommend it. The refrigerator, over $10,000 just for the one piece of equipment, they got to have better service. This is not acceptable. Even if the customer ends up having to pay, which I should not have to pay for that, I should at least get somebody to answer my question. I should have a supervisor or a manager call me back to say this shouldn't happen.

This was a new home and the builder already had Viking inside. We picked them as part of the builder options and we also did an additional spice kitchen, which was close to a thousand square foot. Instead of going with any other make, we thought the same guys could install there as well. Viking is expensive than other brands that we looked at but it would be easier and then, no other vendor can do the good job. There was a delay in getting them installed but we finally got them although now, I have concerns. Initially, they didn't do the exhaust. We got the exhaust with the return and even now my exhaust is not installed properly. We tried to call them and then they just didn't show up or even when they came, they said that was all it was. So I'm not happy with ABW, the company that we did it with. When the technician was installing also, he came in and left the holes in the thing, and he just went.
We moved in about three months ago and I still have some unanswered issues with them. The whole exhaust have issue from the beginning. It still has an issue and you can't even see the buttons that that we do for the exhaust. You can't see anything going on. You just need to touch it as if you're applying Braille and there's nothing to Braille to because it's all soft glass. The installation itself was a little flawed. The exhaust is one of their high-end ones but it doesn't take all the smell out.
I used to own a restaurant before and I know the high-end ones. If you put a small paper, it tries to suck in that direction at least. If I open the filter, it’s not installed properly. It’s just off while cooking and in order for us to exhaust it properly, we have to open the whole plate and then get it out. Sometimes, I open windows. So, it doesn't solve my purpose of getting exhaust. This is summertime and we can open the windows but I don't know how it's going to be in the wintertime. So I'm hoping they'll come and get it fixed before that. Right now, between the builder and ABW, and those are the only two contacts I have, I'm not getting a proper solution for this.

I didn't wanna deal constantly having to send it back. The handle was loose, so I tried adjusting the handle. It doesn't adjust anymore. But, it's good. It works.
We got it from Best Buy. They were nice enough to accommodate switching out the first one. They came and they changed the heater one time. Then a week later, the same thing, water was coming out again. They said there was some piece over there that was missing. I was disappointed. A $10,000 refrigerator, and within two years, we have problems. For products like these, it should have a longer warranty than one year. But I like it. It has all the features that I need. It's a stainless steel finish but it has a scratch. There's a stainless steel repair kit that I have to get to polish it back to before.

I had some problems with the Viking refrigerator. It had a leak. The man that came out and fixed it said that it was made by a different manufacturer. I have some problems with them in that the handles become loose all the time on the whole entire set of appliances. I've had to have somebody tighten them up three times. They got a problem with the quality of the handle. I also thought the price was a little high.

We had gotten a Samsung refrigerator before and it didn't work well. My husband always wanted a higher-end refrigerator. Viking was always the number one on our list. The purchase of our Viking Refrigerator went really well. We bought it at Pacific Sales, which is the higher end sales part of Best Buy. The delivery was good. There was one issue though. The handle wasn't tight enough, so it eventually became very loose. But when we called for service, they came out right away.
Then recently, we've had another discovery. Because we've had it for a year and we're just hooking up the ice machine, we realized there was no ice pan or filter for the water. We don't know how we missed that. They said that we have to go back to Best Buy and tell them because there was no way it made quality control without it not having everything when it came from Viking, which I agree on. So something happened between the time we looked at it and we got it. Best Buy was like, "It's over a year. There's nothing we can do for you." We have to pay out of pocket for the bin and the filter 'cause we never had them. But I like the simple design and quality. I especially like the bin that I could set the temperature for, for wine, cheese, snacks, meat, whatever I want. I like the adjustable shelf too. One aesthetic I like is when I open it up, the lights gradually come on. We're very happy with it.
