Viking makes great ranges, and thought they should make refrigerators too. What a mistake! Within weeks of purchase, water line freezes, shelves crack and fall out from door and inside. Ice maker breaks every few months, and stops making ice daily, requiring manual clearing. Now our ice maker is smoking, and shooting sparks and fire down from it. Every week I wish I had spent a little more and gotten the SubZero. Now I am going to have to pay a second time to buy a working refrigerator, this one is falling apart and just not worth fixing. It does look nice on the outside, when it is not smoking! ; )

Viking is the worst product I've ever bought in my life. I bought a whole kitchen 14 years ago from them and every piece I bought had an issue. They had to replace my refrigerator within a few months. The whole thing leaked all over. I just ended up having to replace it because no one else had one. This one broke. The whole thing leaked and stopped working six months ago and there were no parts to fix it. There was no other size because it was built-in and nothing else fits. So, I spent another $10,000 on a refrigerator. Viking is very expensive, too. I would never recommend the product to anyone. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars on their products and not one of them has been worth the money.

The first Viking refrigerator was installed a year ago. Just a couple of months ago, it started warming up and it turned out it was installed incorrectly. We got a replacement about a month ago, but the fan is making a loud noise. An authorized repair person has been out, but they are now pointing the finger at the person who installed it. The major problem is that Viking doesn't have its own installation or repair people. The buck keeps getting passed. They have too many people involved that you have to contact. I've been trying to get their attention, but there's been no follow-up. It’s been terrible.

We had another Viking refrigerator that came with the house when we moved in and it failed. The circuit board to fix it was not available from Viking nor from any other company we called. After an appliance guy came out and told us the same thing, we chose a similar Viking that has the same dimensions because we like Viking. It was the only one that would fit into the space we had, too. The woman we talked to by phone from the appliance store was very helpful and did a great job. The delivery guys were good too.
The only thing is the ice maker in the freezer. The design is a bit different than the original one. It's not as good. Sometimes, you open the door and the ice falls on the floor. The ice maker needs a redesign. It needs to have a consumer focus group looking at it with the manufacturer to find a way to improve that, so the ice doesn't spill out. I'd also recommend a better strategy for circuit boards for ongoing support after the models discontinued. The rest of the fridge was fine then suddenly, it iced up and we couldn't get it to defrost. That was the end of that. But besides that, I like the refrigerator a lot. It looks attractive and seems to do the job. I like the control panel on the inner left door. It's convenient and it helps you set temperatures to save energy. I also like the similar LED panel on the main drawer you slide out in the refrigerator. It lets you set a custom temp and seems effective.

Viking makes every effort to listen and hear what our customers want, which is our foundation for newer and improved models. Thank you for providing your experience with us.

Viking was on our bucket list of appliances and we wound up looking at two different retailers. The biggest issue we had was delivery time. So, our contractor got involved and began what turned out to be an exhaustive search nationwide and piecing all these pieces out from independents across the country. That cut us down from about a 15-month delivery time, which was the first estimate, to we had everything in hand in less than eight months.
We wound up buying the entire package. We went with the double Viking refrigerator and freezer (the columns), the French oven and the six-burner cooktop. We bought a couple of other things as well. For the refrigerator, I had a guy over the other day because I was complaining about the speed of the ice maker and he explained to me that every ice maker makes it in the exact same way. Eight ice cubes an hour, and I thought, "Well, okay." Other than that, the refrigerator is lovely.

Providing superb customer support is just as important to us as the manufacturing process. Thank you for the acknowledgments. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know.

I bought a home that had all Viking professional culinary appliances in it, and so far, I've replaced the $1,000 microwave and the $9,900 refrigerator. For almost 10 grand, you would expect a quality product and that's not been my experience with Viking. It leaked and it is a poor quality build. Now the freezer needs to be replaced as well. I've tried calling Viking before and they're no avail.

Viking is very pricey. We had the refrigerator repaired and they came and fixed it the same day. The only issue we're having right now is we contacted the Viking dealer. We were supposed to get a certain amount on the rebate of buying all new equipment, including dishwasher. But we only got half that amount. So he's working on it with his Viking rep to figure out what's going on. That's been the only kind of disappointment we've had so far.

We are pleased our Viking servicer was able to correct your issue quickly. Also, thank You for allowing us the opportunity to look into the sales issue further. Should you need to contact our team, please reach out by calling 888-845-4641 option 3.

We moved into a brand new home with a Viking Range package. We waited 6 months for our fridge/freezer to be delivered and installed which happened in November 2021. After numerous problems and repairs and over 7 calls to have work done on both the refrigerator and freezer the freezer broke June 18th of 2022. It's now December of 2022 and we still do not have a working freezer. We've contacted multiple people at Viking and they do not know if/when they will have a unit to install.
There's been little to no communication or updates from Viking or the local company they contract with for repairs. There's been no accountability for a unit that cost over $15,000. The fridge still works but it is very noisy and sounds like a generator when the compressor is on. We've asked them to order a new refrigerator since we've already had numerous problems and repair work done but they won't do that until it breaks. Completely disappointed in what is supposed to be a luxury brand and whose tagline is "The First. Still the Best". If you're paying this much go with SubZero and Wolf or better yet head to Bestbuy and get a Fridgidair for $800 - it'll probably work longer than 7 months.

Our records indicate the freezer is in the process of replacement with our exchange team. The information has been forwarded to the exchange coordinator requesting an update. They will be in contact with you within 48 business hours. The exchange coordinator may be reached by calling 888-845-4641 option 3 should you wish to reach them directly.

Eight years ago, I bought this Viking, and the machine was horrible. The refrigerator freezer was constantly breaking down. About a year ago, I finally got ahold of the director of Viking. I contacted Middleby directly, their headquarters in Illinois, and they somehow connected me to their main guy out here. The main guy out here told me that, "Yes, their units from eight years ago had many issues, and they resolved them." We worked out a deal where for half price, they would replace the refrigerator and the freezer. They said that they guarantee me that the units will be much better now. I haven't had any problems now for about the past year, but it's too early to say whether these are gonna be great or not. I hope they're good.

This is definitely the worst refrigerator I've ever had. Stay away. In the refrigerator portion, the very back of the refrigerator will frost things. I can't put a cucumber straight in. It has to go horizontal, in the front, towards the doors, because the back of the cucumber will go sour from how frozen the very back of the refrigerator is. I can't put strawberries or a salad bag in the back either.
The icemaker didn't work for about six months. We had the contractor who built the house come back here and fiddle with it, and he finally got it to work. We just got another fridge in the basement that's a tried-and-true Kenmore that we use for everything else that we know won't go bad in that fridge or would go bad in the Viking one. The icemaker is in the freezer drawer, which is not ideal. I wish it was on the outside door, which would be much better. The meat drawer in the fridge is great, but that's the only good thing about it. I can change the temperature of that one drawer and it helps meat to stay for longer. The handles are coming off the door, so that's bad.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We deeply apologize for the issue you have encountered. The produce drawers do have humidity controls that will reduce the amount of moisture in these areas along with blocking the colder air found along the rear wall. Should you prefer to have a service technician assess the unit, please contact our customer care team at 888-845-4641 option 3. They will be glad to assist further.

It sounds like it's getting ready to take off when it kicks in. I thought about calling Viking for it. I haven't had a whole lot of interaction with their reps. I like the way Viking refrigerators looked and the fact that there are custom built-in options available and they're America-made. The refrigerator I got is extremely high quality. I like everything about it. It's very large on the inside, easy to clean, has great storage, and the icemaker works well. Also, there's a place at the bottom where I can put a pizza box if I want. It’s like out of the way and a hidden compartment type thing. It's pretty cool. Viking Refrigerators is a great, high-end product and if you're looking to have a luxury kitchen with high-end appliances, it's a good route to go.

We are pleased Viking was able to accommodate your personal preference. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity.

I placed the order last July 2021, and the lead time was supposed to be six months, but our Viking refrigerator got installed at my house May of this year. After nine months, when they delivered the refrigerator, it was damaged. It was a warehouse mishap. A forklift rammed into the packaging, and I was told, “Do you want to take it like this or do you wanna wait another nine months?” Now we’re going on almost 15 months and I still have a banged up refrigerator door. I'm still waiting for it to be replaced, and I need to start calling because they said it was supposed to come in September.
We're moving to mid-October, and I haven't heard anything. Nobody's called me, and it's been always I have to keep chasing them. Now again, I have to do the chase but I have so much going on. I’m already two weeks behind in saying. “What happened to September?” I'm at a point where if I had a choice, I would have said, "Just take the whole thing back," because it's really disappointing. The Viking refrigerator is not cheap, and I always thought, "Okay, you get what you pay for." I'm happy with the refrigerator, but we paid premium and still, once the sale was made, the after-sale support is horrible. I'd like to have communication about making me whole with the damaged goods that I've been stuck with.

Our Viking refrigerator and appliance set (stove, microwave, dishwasher) are not worth the money. The stainless steel is extremely thin and can dent so easily, also you see every fingerprint. We have had 3 ice makers, the refrigerator broke and it took a month to get a replacement fan. The stove bottom plate is peeling, the stovetop's black enamel chips, and you can not see the labels on the microwave once the kitchen lights are off even during the day. Everything matches. But they delivered the refrigerator damaged. It's scratched. Also, the ice machine doesn't work. The sensors are broken. So, there's a big case of me going on with Best Buy and Viking. It's not just that. It’s all the appliances from Viking. I'm on my third oven they have to deliver me. I'm not happy with Viking Refrigerators. We bought it from BestBuy when we were moving into a new house. It was in the storage and when we got it in, the movers damaged some part of it. We called in to get the installation and get that fixed but they said it was not under warranty because the movers did it. That was fine. But later, somehow I feel the upper portion cools more than the lower shelf. They're not evenly cooling. But they said they're not going to cover anything in warranty for us so I didn't call about this.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. After careful review, the unit was not purchased from an authorized Viking dealer. I've owned two Viking refrigerators in the last four years I've moved. I liked it so much the first time, I bought it a second time. The freezer door had to be replaced and that's great. When Ferguson's moved it in, they put a strap around the top, which made the doors look kind of dented in on the side. But other than that, it's really wonderful. I love the freezer and the way the refrigerator looks in the wall. It looks very elegant, very simple, and yet it runs really well. I'm going to take an extra warranty on it. The refrigerator metal looks dented and wavy. It's a stainless steel surface and it looks awful. When it got delivered, Viking had to send me two new doors trying to get rid of that ugly wavy look, which didn't really help. And the third door, because it's a bottom freezer drawer, I'm still waiting for the replacement for that one because it's crooked and doesn't close properly. This is a brand-new appliance and not inexpensive. The only good part of this is that I haven't paid for the whole thing yet and I'm holding back payment until these things are remedied, which they're not going to be. So, I'm never going to pay. They have terrible customer service, too. They should be sending me a new refrigerator because I've been dealing with the problems for so long and they haven't even gotten me this new bottom drawer after waiting months to replace the top two doors. Viking makes good products. I like the way that they look. The closest competitor was the Sub-Zero. But the thing that made me mostly go with the Viking was they had all the appliances that I was purchasing in stock at the time. One of the shelves broke shortly after I purchased it. I’m waiting for a replacement part, but the rest of it is fine. I called the store I purchased it from and they said they would order me a new one. They didn't specify if I had to pay for it or not. I don't plan on paying for it because it was a few months after I bought it. I just had some salad dressings on the shelves. Nothing extreme. And one day, I opened the door and the whole thing fell apart. That was strange. It has been months since I requested the part and it hasn't come, according to the store. We bought a house with a built-in Viking refrigerator. We wanted it and it quit working after we bought the house. So, we thought we would go with the same model so it would fit in the built-in. I like the refrigerator's size because we only go to the commissary once every eight weeks. It's a large refrigerator. I also like that it has alarms on it. We had some trouble with the icemaker initially, but that seems to be resolved.
We have been trying for eight months now to get Viking to replace the leveling legs so we can get it installed properly, but we are getting a runaround. I wonder if they have a history of door seal problem that we haven't been hit with because every time we ask them to replace the leveling legs and do that, they think we have a door seal problem. But that's not what we reported. The company said they couldn't do it or they were supposed to be the installer that does it. The installer couldn't do it without parts. And we have been going back and forth since April trying to get it done.
We bought the refrigerator through Appliances Connection, and they wanted us to open up a web account which we could never do. So, I keep asking them to contact me by phone. One person would contact me by phone every six to eight weeks. She has tried twice to get somebody to come and do it, but there's no follow-up and the people she contacts, when they call us, say they couldn't do it or it's not their job.

On the top shelf, I have a whole case of 30 ounce Pellegrino glass bottles of water and it doesn't even flex. We have a giant side by side, freezer on one side and refrigerator on the other side. And it fills up so nicely and the icemaker works fast. The temperature control and the drawers are also so nice to set up. Aside from that, I like the look of the Viking refrigerator. After my Viking refrigerator was purchased and plugged in, issues started to come up without us even using it. When we realized the lights were not working, we went back to the builder and asked for him to fix it. However, it turned out to be a faulty product. We had about five visits until it got to a point where they've changed the control boards twice, then to get the display switched once required two appointments. In all of those visits, people were simply poking at what they thought may be wrong with it and they could not really diagnose it. The different third-party vendors that they outsource to were not skilled enough to diagnose these issues.
Then finally, we got another third party out in Long Island who came in and realized it was a faulty wire, which was then ordered. And again, it needed two appointments for it to be fixed. After that, we realized our icemaker didn't work. So, they had to come and replace my icemaker. I know that Viking is top-of-the-line, but they have a problem somewhere between creating these products as well as educating their staff and their third parties. In terms of the service that was provided and the product that I got, as well as those who manage this, I had to fight to get to the point of resolution. And for $15,000, that’s unacceptable. I have a Samsung sitting in my garage for just 1,200 which I could not be happier with. I even have a Viking stove, which I’m also unhappy about and I don’t have the availability to sit there for 10 appointments to have somebody diagnose what's going on with it.

I am not very happy with the quality of the Viking refrigerator, so far. Ours is brand new and we've had noise from day one, a loud fan that's been blowing and they still don't have the parts to fix it. Parts were ordered initially back in June. They were supposed to be in early September. They didn't arrive. Now, they're saying October.

I have all Viking appliances for my brand new house. I spent $30,000 on my appliances. A year in and I am still waiting for my replacement refrigerator. I was told I would get it in March. It didn't come in March. Then I was told, in June. Then I was told, in August. I called Viking and they said, “This agreement is between you and the company that sold you the refrigerator.” The refrigerator that they gave me was damaged. I'm waiting and nobody would give me any answers except to say, “It’s a part shortage.” Extremely dissatisfied.

The Viking ranges and stoves are amazing, but we're not really happy with the dishwasher and the fridge that we bought, because the quality is not what you would expect to pay for the price. I've had less expensive refrigerators that worked more efficiently and had less problems. When we first got the fridge, it shut down and it short-circuited the wiring in our kitchen. We had to pay an electrician close to $1,000 to fix that, and just a couple of months ago, the same thing happened where it shorted out, but the line only went through to a certain point. The wiring was upgraded after the first time it shorted.
We've also had the fridge just shut down a couple times, we'd get error codes, and it doesn't cool evenly. We've got certain areas that even though it's set at a higher temperature, it will freeze in certain sections of the refrigerator. On top of that, it got delivered with a broken door. They replaced the door, but even after the replacement, it still looks like there are dents in two of the doors.

Our old refrigerator came with our apartment, and it needed to be replaced. The Viking refrigerator's configuration fit in to where my husband was looking for it to sit exactly back in where it was and the door to open so we could get in and out. We were surprised at the price though. Unbelievably, we've never bought an appliance that was that expensive, but it seems to have a good warranty. Other than the price, our only complaint with the refrigerator is it's a little noisy when the compressor goes on.
The refrigerator is good quality, and it's easy to put things in. However, the swing door on the dairy compartment on the top of the door kept falling off and it needed to be replaced, so we called Viking. We were told that was on back order, and it took a couple of months to finally show up. Everyone was very cordial about it, always looked it up. I wished they emailed me about the progress, but every time I called, they went through the whole thing and were very polite and helpful. We just got the replacement the other day.

The products are good. We like them. They work well. However, we noticed that the ice maker sometimes freezes the ice cubes in the tray once they make it. We have to break it apart manually. I also set the fridge a little warmer because 38 was freezing some of the products in the back of the refrigerator. That took care of that. The delivery time was awful though. It took us over a year to get our Viking fridge once we've placed the order. Apparently, the vendor that we bought it from, Best Buy, had admitted they sold it twice when it came in to somebody else when it was earmarked for us. The oven came in about seven months late once we ordered it. I think they gave it away once too to somebody else.

The slide-in freezer continues to be a problem, which we reported to the company. It doesn’t always shut all the way. Oftentimes, in the middle of the night, I’m left with the beeping of the alarm going off or the food being semi-defrosted. We’re in a constant state of food changing texture depending on who’s shutting the freezer. In some cases, we had to throw things out because they’ve been a little thawed, then a little frozen, then a little thawed, then a little frozen. I haven't had any experience above and beyond dealing with the store we bought it from either.

We had to completely restart the process with a new company. They came out and did the same thing. A month or so went by during that process. Then, they ordered the parts. The people that could come and fix it could only come a month later. We lost a lot of food on that. We might go away from Viking and buy another fridge because the freezer is making noises now, and the fridge is also not working it's best. Most of the people that we found that could fix it were scared for some reason. One of them thought it would fall on him. We had to go to some other person and it cost us a lot of money to get it fixed. The refrigerator is working, but not as it should. We had to break the seal of warranty because nobody would work on it. We like the other appliances but the fridge and the freezer are a mess. We think that it might have had a problem with transportation because there’s a leaking side of it. It’s awesome but it didn’t serve its purpose.

The Viking fridge is okay. It's probably made by Electrolux and I didn't realize that when I bought it. The stainless steel that's used on it is extremely thin and I don't have very high hopes for longevity out of it. When the company was acquired by Middleby, a lot of cost-cutting measures went in and relying on brand power to maximize profit. They're slowly going to be losing their reputation for high quality. In the future, I'm going to be looking at whatever Wolf and Sub-Zero are doing. But I like the stove, the oven and the range hood. The only thing that Viking makes is the range. The microwave is just a Sharp microwave. They just buy it from Sharp and put their logo on it. Everything else is Electrolux or Whirlpool appliances that just get white-labeled.

I like the Viking fridge, the style from the outside and what it's designed to offer. But I'm not going to recommend it. I can't, with all the issues that I dealt with, similar issues that took place, and the customer service response. I had two replacements with my fridge. One in the beginning and a second later, two years while it was still under warranty. It took me six to eight months to fight off that replacement. Viking arranges servicers to come in who technically are trained on Viking. But they're not. They train on every single fridge and Viking is not different.
In the third year of the fridge, it started creating condensation. Every time, when I put stuff in the fridge, it seems I need to be thinking about how the air will be moving around and leave gaps between the things. Because if I don't, there's condensation that gets built on top. That condensation starts freezing and, eventually, freezes the whole top piece where the coolness is coming from. That's the biggest flaw and I do not know why it hasn't been addressed for years. That's been the biggest issue for us, with all these replacements that I had.
Also, I'm glad to talk to someone in the US rather than somewhere in Manila or Pune, who doesn't even understand what I'm talking about, and I cannot understand them. The wait line and the responses are also very delayed. For two years in a row, I kept getting the same responses, due to Covid and I wasn't impressed by that same standard reply.

Viking was the finish that was available and it was the size that fit the new home we moved into. The purchase process was fine. We bought the refrigerator from our local appliance store called Martin's Appliance. The salesman there was knowledgeable about what they had for sale. This ended up being the right choice for us. The delivery was very easy as well. The guys that came and delivered the appliance got it in the house and got it put together. They installed in 20 minutes. Everything seems to function appropriately. Between the ones we were looking at, we liked the more robust feel of the shelves compared to some of the other brands we looked at.
Overall, we really like the refrigerator. The only thing that we would probably rethink if we were buying another one is the design of the ice tray. It has a big slide-out drawer for the freezer. When you slide the little shelf that the ice maker is attached to forward to actually reach the ice, the little skinny metal rod that's down there doesn't slide with the shelf. A lot of times when you slide the shelf forward, that lever pulls a handful of ice cubes down out into the bottom of the freezer. You have to reach around underneath to scoop those out and throw them away. It's more of a small annoyance but nothing major.

Recently, I've had so many issues with my refrigerator that I don't care for it right now. First, it makes a lot of noise. When it makes the ice and it falls, it sounds like there’s a loud bang on it. At the beginning, I would jump out of bed, scared that somebody had broken into my house because of the bangs. Viking has gone several times to fix it, but the noise is still there. I said, “Maybe we could switch it out? I could get a new one? Maybe just this one just didn't come out good.” But they said that there was nothing they could do.
They went back because there was a part that was broken. And they fixed it. Now my freezer has been frozen. It has icicles hanging. This has been going on for a while. They took off a little tray that's in the back and that supposedly would defrost the freezer. That was nine days ago, and the freezer is still exactly the same with the icicles hanging. I have some stuff in there, but I can't even use it because it's frozen. I have my old refrigerator in my garage, so I'm using that freezer. I’ve paid so much money for my refrigerator that my husband is pissed off. We have asked to see if there's anything that can be done. But the service guy that comes doesn't care. I've been texting him to tell him, “Hey, it hasn’t unfrozen. It's still the same,” sending him pictures. I don't get a response.
I love the product. But I've had so many issues. We paid so much money for everything because I bought my dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and my stove from Viking. It took eight months before I got my stove. I ordered in March, and I ended up getting it in November right before Thanksgiving of last year. I was, “Okay. It's not a big deal. I could live with it.” The guy from Best Buy who went to do all the measurements said my microwave would be exactly into the cubicle. But it still sticks out. But it's okay. I've learned to live with that part. They're supposed to go May the 12th. And the lady who calls is the rudest lady ever. She’s the one from the service department. She's super rude.

I'm pissed off at how much I spent on the refrigerator and how it still broke down. It has been over a year now. The fridge stopped working, started leaking. Had to call somebody. Took seven days for someone to come out. Took 17 days to get the part. That was fixed. But when you're buying the Rolls Royce of refrigerators, you wouldn't expect it to break down the first year. I didn't buy a $700 refrigerator off of a display. It took three months for that fridge to even come in because they had to build it from the Viking manufacturer themselves. And it did not work. It had to get fixed.
The fridge looks good and shiny. But I will never do it again, because the process of calling the warranty company is like pulling an arm and a leg to get somebody on the phone. You get somebody on the phone. They contact somebody else. And they have to verify if you have a warranty on that. I said, “Seriously? You guys don't have serial numbers you guys can look up? You charge so much money for these products. You should have a better database for it.”
When my house was built, it had all the Viking appliances. I thought to myself, “Maybe I should change them all to the Samsung or the LG.” And my wife said, “No. Just keep it the way it is.” So, I replaced that. I've already replaced my dishwasher and microwave with Viking. I've already replaced three components from Viking. And I told her, “The next thing that breaks, I'm changing everything.” It's not about the money. It’s frustrating that it’s held at a different standard, but they break. I'll never spend $10,000 for a fridge again. Everyone told me Viking is the best, but it's known for ranges, not refrigerators.

Our experience with them has not been particularly good. I've had a lot of issues with the Viking refrigerator. I've had at least three parts that I've had to send back. They had to replace the cheese drawer because it was chipped. They had to replace the freezer door because it was also chipped. For the most part, the issues have been resolved but I still have uneven shelves inside and there doesn't seem to be a fix for that.

Everything was bad from the beginning. We bought seven appliances. From day one, that refrigerator had a constant noise. So we called the company and asked if they would exchange, and they said that they have to pass through different processes of trying to fix first. They sent three different companies. And I would have to cancel work to be home. The first one would arrive and say that they needed to order parts. Would order the parts, take forever, would come, and it wasn't fixed. So, we would call Viking. They would send another company. And that repeated three times. Until this day, it is now refrigerating, because from the beginning, we had issue on this too. But now it's only the noise. I was even able to locate where it is. I'm waiting for the service to be done. I have the date.
It has been a bad experience. Viking does not stand behind their products. They do not replace when something is broken. They try to fix. I heard from one of the companies that they know because they test before it goes out of their door. But what happens is they don't have enough. They sell and wait for the company that they hired to go and fix it. So it's very frustrating for the client that they buy a product that they expect to be high quality and they are dealing with maintenance from the beginning. Viking called me and offered to extend the warranty for six months. If I would be happy with that. I said, “Wow! Happy I would be for you to extend and make it worse on day one.”

We gave Viking what we thought was a model number, but it wasn't the right thing. So, it has been hard to get someone to look at it or see what is going on. I shot an email with it. I love the look of the Viking. I like the way the doors close nicely. Also, the fridge beeps to let us know if ever we lose electricity. I was in the house and I realized that a beep was coming from the left door when I opened it. At the bottom, it had a power fail light that was on. Some guy got on it and said, "Did you guys lose power recently?". He said all that was is a message that lets me know there was a power failure in case I had been away so I know that my refrigerator might have been off for a while, so some of my food could be stale. That's a nice feature. But the top right door is an eighth of an inch lower than the door on the left side. They're not flush. It bothers me a little bit.

I really liked the look of the refrigerators. But we're not really happy with what we received. It's noisy and the handle came loose on the freezer. I've had someone out twice now to look at the refrigerator just to tell me that that's how noisy it would be and I have to deal with it. Amanda was the name of the person I called to enter the tickets with our local. She set it up with our local Viking dealer to come out the two times to look at the refrigerator. I sent her a follow up email, "Well, his second time out, he didn't do anything but tell us that that's how noisy it's going to be. I really had better expectations,” because we paid a bit more for these appliances than we have in the past for other appliances. And I didn't even get a response from her when I did that.
I feel nobody cared that we are unhappy with our Viking appliances, so far. I wouldn't buy through the internet with a company that I can't go back to. They only gave out a short turnaround time when we could return things. And because we didn't get all of our appliances at the same time, it was past our time when we could say, "Well, we want a new one. And we want it replaced."

However, I haven't been thrilled with the purchases as far as money that I've spent on going with higher end appliances and the value and quality that I expected to receive. The refrigeration itself is good. But it seemed like they're finicky. I had an issue with the hinges on the doors right away. They still have not been repaired. Just issues like that, that when you spent the amount of money that is spent on Viking, I’ve had more headaches than I would expect.
I've gotten pushed back to the dealer, who said they would reach out on my behalf. But I haven't got follow-up on the issues. I had a repair company come out. They disconnected the close feature on the hinges so that they work manually without a problem. But the auto close feature that's built in still does not function. And I haven't gotten a call back from anyone regarding that.

The stopper of the Viking fridge door was broken and would open too far. It was pinching some wires and shorting out. The repairs went fine. They fixed it. No charge to us, which is good. We also had a fan go out on a Viking oven that we have and the fan going out caused the oven to not be able to turn on, which was annoying. But, the oven cooks consistently and the fridge has been otherwise good. Aside from the maintenance issues we've had, it’s been all right. I have owned my Viking kitchen, Fridge, Oven, Stove, Hood, Dishwasher, for about 16 years. In that time I have had many issues with everything. Just over 6 years, the fridge stopped working! It had always had issues with freezing fridge items located close to the freezer side and in the vege bin. Their response was too bad, so sad. After back and forth for nearly 2 years, I was offered a new fridge at the half the cost! Wow! What a way to stand behind your product.
The dishwasher works pretty well, but, if you actually put dishes in there, you need to upgrade your rollers to the wider style so they stay on the track, or so Viking says, which still doesn't work, but, the price is just under $200 for those beauties. I have a double wall oven, and had to have the regulator and thermostat replace on the bottom oven about 5 years in, again, these items went out and after waiting 2 months for the parts, I have been told one of the parts is no longer in production!!!! So now I am stuck with a lame oven.
The stainless backsplash for the stove top arrived scratched but the installer was here. Viking said they would have someone come out to buff it out, that never happened. The backsplash had built in racks which fold up and down, wonderful you say for keeping food warm under the warming lights in the Viking hood. Not so much, you cannot remove the racks and that makes cleaning a nightmare! So, bottom line, if you just need to have a "Show" kitchen, go for it, but if you actually need it to function, there are many other products to choose from. Wish I had had reviews available when I was buying.

It took them three or four weeks to get the part here to get it fixed and meanwhile, our freezer was working really hard but that got fixed. But from the get-go, our fridge has been super loud. We were doing a remodel addition to an old family cabin and when it came to looking at appliances, Viking had the right size, the configurations that we wanted, and it checked on the boxes. Plus, we've had a Viking stove for a very long time. However, we've had major issues with the refrigerator. We're not in a remote area, but it's not as highly populated so getting service people out has caused delays. We're actually on our third Viking refrigerator.
The first one had been damaged in shipping, and the shipping caused some issues because of the supply chain. Then it sat in our garage because of construction delays. When they came to unbox and install it, it had major physical damage, so we didn't go any further. It took a while to get one, but they found it, and then we had nothing but problems with that second one. Alarms were going off all the time, it wasn't holding, it's cold in either side, the ice maker wasn't working, it was horrible. We've had to throw massive amounts of food away because we bought all new stuff for the cabin so it's been a pain.
They had somebody come out, did a couple of things, it worked for a day, and then we have more issues. They replaced all these different parts to it and this took us quite a long time because the service company doesn't do repair. Finally, they realized that they would never be able to get it worked so they ordered us another one and that one was delivered and installed and it's worked really well, except for the ice maker.
I understand the delays in getting attention placed on our case. I'm usually a pretty calm person, but I had to get a little nasty with the sales rep because I didn't feel like she was helping. The holidays are coming. We needed refrigeration in our house. It was difficult so I had to put my foot down and demand a loaner. She ended up coming through with that and then she said that I would have to pay for it as well as the delivery and installation. I told her I won't. It was a back and forth show.
Also, every step of the way, somebody made a commission off of this and so they needed to come to the table to help a little more. We felt like we got a fair price, buying two Viking items and get a set of cookware free, and we got a free microwave, so we wanted to make this work. Plus, we have wood paneling for the doors. If we were to switch and go with a different brand, which we wanted to do, it would have been a major additional cost to us. Well, Viking has been responsive. It's a $10,000 refrigerator and so they need to go through what they need to do to make sure it's working right before they scrap the whole thing. It was just really frustrating while it was all happening.

When we came in, the refrigerator was brand-new, but the ice maker wasn't making any ice. We thought it was still under warranty, then it wasn't because the warranty started when the builder finished the property, and we purchased it eight months later, then we came in several months after that, so it had been over a year. But then, Viking went ahead and sent someone out and fixed it. They said to make sure that it's on vacation mode and the lever's up for the ice so we did that. We were there during the summer and we came back for Thanksgiving and it was not working again. It was apparently something a little bit more major. But I love its double doors and where the freezer is at the bottom, and then it has the little buttons on the side with all the temperatures control. Our refrigerator is very convenient, large, and has good quality. The only thing I don't like about it is that adjusting the temperature, which is two little controls up on the top, is not very clear and it doesn't read out the exact temperature, just has these little bars. So, it takes a lot of time to figure out how to use it, how to set it, and get it to the right temperatures. At the very bottom, it freezes up and the water gets into the drain in the back on the bottom and we once had to thaw it out ourselves. Another time, we had to call a repair person 'cause there was no way for us to do it. If only they have as many other refrigerators have where you set the temperature and it shows you what it's set for and what it's actually reading, and I would make sure that they have improved the heating unit that would prevent the drain in the freezer from freezing.

When I was doing the research for what to buy, I was reassured by the retailers that Viking was a quality name. When the refrigerator came, the freezer door was lopsided. The people came and thought it was a panel issue so they replaced the panel. The second one came and it was still crooked, but better than it was originally. Then it wasn't closing properly and condensation started forming on the outside. I took pictures of that and sent them to Viking. The decision was made that because of the condensation that was forming on the outside, the compressor wasn't working properly, so they decided to replace the unit. I now have a new one, but the freezer door is still crooked, and I'm not going to continue to pursue that. It's obviously a quality control thing coming out of the factory. Also, the dishwasher exploded all over my floor and damaged my brand-new floors around August. I didn't get a new dishwasher until December.
It was unfortunate that I had so much trouble right out of the gate with almost every appliance that I bought. But the customer service people could not have been more understanding and responsive and they corrected all the issues. It's just that when everything started going bad with the appliances, my husband went into Consumer Reports and saw that Viking was least rated. We're very big Consumer Report people. I bought a $12,000 built-in Viking fridge from an online store (AJ Madison). It was discounted. It was supposed to have a scratch on the side, but it had a dent in the front. I bought an extended warranty. I bought it for a home in Florida that I rent out weekly. I vacation down there a few times a year. The first time I went down there, I noticed that the fridge temperature would spike up to 61 degrees. This was May of 2021. I called Viking and they sent a repairman out (Mr. Appliance). He said it was working perfectly. Then the renters started demanding money back for food that spoiled. Mr. Appliance came out again and said it was working perfectly. I went down there again, and the temperature would go up to 61 degrees and the food would spoil. At this point Viking told me they had to send a repairman out 3 times to deem it unrepairable. Mr. Appliance came out a third time and again said it was working perfectly.
Now Viking said they would not take care of it, because I “accepted a broken refrigerator.“ Mr. Appliance came out again, put in a probe that showed that the temp went up to 61 degrees for 4 hours. He actually interpreted this as working perfectly. Viking got the temperature graph showing sustained temperatures at 61 degrees for 4 hours and claimed it was working fine. Viking refused to deem the refrigerator unrepairable. I got nowhere with Mr. Appliance, Viking or with the extended warranty people (New Leaf). Nine months later, I finally bought a working refrigerator from Home Depot. Nine months later, AJ Madison says they will give me a refund if Viking deems it unrepairable, which they will not. I am negotiating for a partial refund with AJ Madison now with new difficulties.

Perhaps like many others that purchase Viking appliances, my wife and I were enamored with the design, size and look of the Viking refrigerator. We spent close to $20,000 and purchased a 36" refrigerator with a separate 30" freezer to go beside it. Looking at our kitchen you see nearly five feet of fridge/freezer. It looks amazing. Stupidly, this was the reason we bought the brand. My neighbor has a similar set-up and he told us over and over again not to invest in Viking. He swore it would be a mistake. My attitude was "it won't happen to us." Was I wrong.
Within one year, back in 2018 (pre-Covid; so no excuses yet about shipping issues/health issues/work shortage issues), the refrigerator stopped working altogether. Everything inside was ruined. The refrigerator was hot. It would not cool anything. I called Viking and it took 3 days to get a repairman to our home. Three days of no food. Then of course the part had to ordered. This took another 2 weeks. The part arrived and within another week it was installed. One month of no working refrigerator. I asked for a loaner... nope. I asked for a replacement... nope. I asked for a food stipend... nope. I asked to reimbursed for the ruined food... nope. After the month delay, it was noted that the refrigerator was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. This took another month for the new refrigerator to arrive. A $12,500 refrigerator that we could not use for two months.
Now check this out; within a month or two of the new refrigerator being installed, my 7 year old son opened the fridge to get something. He pulled the door and as he pulled his foot was "in the way" and the door punctured his foot. He required 7 stitches. Our family wrote it off as the craziest accident ever. But... within another month or so, the door was not closing properly. This was a brand new refrigerator and the door would not close right. The magnet would not catch and the door was essentially always "open." Viking sent a repair guy. He could not figure it out. He kept stating that the hinges were unlike anything he had seen. Then it dawned on him, the door was installed upside down. He had to take it off, flip hinges and reinstall. What??? Upside down? How is that possible? I then realized that this is probably the reason why my son punctured his foot. It was too low.
Six months after replacing the refrigerator, the freezer stopped working. Everything melted. The compressor (?) was shot and it was replaced. For the continuing hassle, Viking extended our warranty an additional year. We now had 3 years of warranty. Within the three years, we have had to replace the ice-maker at least 5 times. Every 4 months it develops a leak and water drips into the ice bucket. Soon the ice bucket has an inch or so of water at the bottom and the entire ice bucket turns in to a solid block of ice. They send a repair guy and he replaces it. This has happened five times. It is broken again now. Unfortunately we are now out of warranty. I argue that the problem began while we were under warranty. This apparently does not matter. Viking wants to charge me $150 for the part and $150 to install it. Again a $7,500 freezer with an ice-maker that does not work. Dumb.
Today, the produce tray in the refrigerator broke. Looks like a plastic piece fell off and the side by side drawers came off. This overpriced appliance is an absolute joke. Like my neighbor did with me, I tell all people that compliment our gorgeous appliances to NEVER buy the Viking brand. I warn everybody that I cannot to make the same mistake we did. Viking sucks.

Their team was very good. But the refrigerator broke within a few months of installing it. The ice maker went out on it and I some trouble adjusting the doors. There's not enough throw in the adjustment screws to be able to get the doors to sit perfectly square. When I talked to the folks about it on the Viking helpline, we did everything they said. It's just outside of the adjustment cycle of the screw so, it's a little bit crooked. So, I had to have some warranty work done to it and they were pretty quick on the warranty stuff. I was happy with that. Other than that, it's a good looking refrigerator.

I wanted all my appliances to match. So I went and got the Viking refrigerator. My stove is really good but I see the refrigerator and I don't see the same quality. I'm not very satisfied for the price I paid. The refrigerator has some issues. I have spoken to customer service and the year was going by and I thought I need to call them again. The refrigerator freezes food in the refrigerator area. But even at the bottom of the refrigerator, I'm starting to see some sort of accumulation. The maintenance people are not very familiarized because the rep told me that down where I'm from, there are not many people that own Viking. But the lady that does also had the same issues of food freezing.
The handles are very wobbly. I constantly have to tighten them up. It doesn't have a feature in the ice machine where it stops after it feels that it has made enough ice. For such an expensive and quality brand, those features would have been looked into. They had to also repair, just within purchase, the deli meat door because it was off. It was crooked. Right away, they sent the deli door. But the guy hasn't even called me. He was supposed to check into that whole freezing of the food in the refrigerator. But I've been lenient because I said it was a holiday.

I was looking at the features, design, haptic feedback, meaning how things slide, the soft close of the drawers, and layout. One of the things that I didn't consider was Viking because Viking and Thermador are usually premium, luxury, and mansion-type brands, until seeing at that price point-wise. They make for the regular persons reasonably-priced refrigerators. We didn't need a water dispenser in the front or ice sensor and they were one of the few manufacturers that didn't have that. I just don't like the gasket sealant. I'm getting some frost where the gasket is peeling off the door. I haven't had the opportunity to call Viking yet to ask them if they can fix it.

Viking has a great reputation. We were looking into fitting into our budget long-lasting appliances. The place we bought them from was having a deal at the time, and it included all three appliances for a great deal. However, had it not been in the middle of a pandemic, would have been a lot easier. But there were some delays and some confusion as to when appliances were going to be delivered. Some were delivered at times when we were told they weren't going to be, so our contractor wasn't prepared. But I love how heavy-duty it is. We had an incident where we needed to replace a part, and it came quickly and within the warranty. The Viking refrigerator looks great.

Viking was already the brand we had in the kitchen. The refrigerator broke, so I replaced it with the same brand. I bought it through a third-party seller and the experience was poor. The product was delivered with a manufacturer defect. The doors had to be zip-tied up because the installation is difficult if the doors are moving about. After it was installed, my husband and I realized the doors don't close.
What upset me about the third-party vendor was that they said that it's our problem, not theirs, and left. But Viking immediately stepped in and sent help with their repair people around town. I have had to use them on two or three occasions once again, all from the defect of original product delivery. No issues that went wrong. They have been incredibly responsive. It's a brand that stands by its quality. On the other hand, they did let a fridge that doesn't have doors that close past inspection somehow, so that's also strange. But when they realized they messed up, they fixed it. The refrigerator is not the right size and it's a loud machine, but it does the job and has lots of storage.

It can't even hold a magnet so it's a stainless steel look but it's not. The original was sturdier and the inside shelves were more metal. This one seems to be plastic. The freezer part is a lot of plastic. It doesn't have the durability of my old one. It's a cheaper made Viking although I like the sleek look of it.

We ordered the refrigerator beginning of April, and it didn't arrive until nearly the end of August. It was installed very professionally but within a day or two, it developed an intermittent very loud noise in the freezer. Viking repair has come out to try and find it but they couldn't do anything with it. We bought the refrigerator from Best Buy and they've ordered a new one back in September. It was supposed to have arrived a few weeks ago, at the beginning of this month, but something happened. So now, it's not scheduled to arrive until March. I know Viking is not the only one that's experiencing these delays. But it's a little frustrating to spend several tens of thousands of dollars on kitchen upgrade appliances and then just wait and wait and wait.
The refrigerator that we saw in the showroom has drawers in the refrigerator side that are full length. So it goes from one side of the fridge to the other side of the fridge. But the one that was delivered to us has two half drawers side by side. I don't know why Viking did that, whether they thought that was more convenient or whether that was based on customer surveys. I find it a nuisance frankly. We're losing about four inches of valuable real estate inside that refrigerator by having the two separate mounting systems side by side. We actually went back to the showroom and talked to the guys and they were surprised too. But overall, I'm satisfied with the Viking products. It's a quality product.

When I had to call in for the repair of the item, it took three calls for it to get processed because the repair people kept saying they didn't get the request for repair. The gentleman who came out was very nice, but the company who represented him over the phone was not very friendly. After a year, Best Buy takes over the warranty and Viking goes away. I knew it was a floor model at the showroom and they told me that it had been out there for less than a year and had never been used, and it was like new and would have the full warranty. But several pieces broke within 24 hours of me getting this $10,000 refrigerator. It keeps things cold but all of the door inserts, such as the shelves in the door, all were broken. When I called Viking, they said that this was a five-year old model. It had been sitting on the showroom for that long, which was never disclosed and they won't cover anything.
It was a very disappointing experience and makes me want to avoid using Viking. It’s a nice refrigerator. Something happened when it was put in. The people were inexperienced or they manhandled it. We told them to give us a new one and quit repairing it. It went back to Ferguson and they got us a new one. The install went better but the second refrigerator had a problem with the cooling fan. It was noisy from the second they plugged it in. Eventually, we got someone out. There were four or five different trips to repair this second one and sure enough, it was the fan.
After two years, two refrigerators and 15 visits, the Viking refrigerator is working like it should. It's a nice refrigerator, but we went through a lot of troubles. Between two refrigerators and the repair, every time they repair it, you gotta take all the food out and I probably got scuffs on the floor. We won't get Viking again. We paid four or five times as much purely because Viking has such a good reputation but the worst thing about our house was this refrigerator. It got so bad that we called the attorney general of Minnesota who stepped in on the case. Viking’s been very polite when we call them up. I like my new refrigerator and the way it keeps everything cold in each area. There are no warm spots and it fits the space that we have perfectly. I wasn't gonna get a refrigerator with a rollout drawer on the bottom but it seemed to be made well so I opted to go with that instead of the side-by-side. People should do some research into what features each one has and then pick the one that fits overall what their needs are because one of the other reasons we didn't go with the side-by-side is because Viking makes them too tall. We couldn't have something that tall in our space. We only have 70 inches and a lot of those side-by-sides are 72-plus, and that's not gonna fit in the space. We'd have to take the cabinets out at the top and I don't wanna do that because I use those cabinets. So, it would be nice if Viking would make them a little smaller in a side-by-side too.
I know two other people who are struggling with the same thing. They have this standard spot that contractors made in their house for the refrigerator, and they're only about 70 inches tall. When you read the specs, a lot of those refrigerators want you to give them a 2-inch clearance at the top for air and we don't have that. Ours is smack way up to the top but we have air on each side. We haven't had the refrigerator that long but I'm anticipating that it's gonna be a real worker.

The technicians were very knowledgeable and courteous. They had to order a couple of parts. The first time we had a fan that went out, it took about two months to get. But the tech rigged it up some kind of way and it was not losing any kind of coolness to it, so it stays running. It’s just made it louder. Then we just got that other fan replaced last week. The tech came out and fixed that for us. It took us about three weeks before he got that part in to get it fixed for us. So quality-wise, it's not worth the price.

The logistics company delivered my Viking refrigerator to my house and dropped it off in my living room. They pushed it into the wall because it's one of those built-in wall units. They didn't connect it or they connected it but it wasn't right. There was this bottom metal piece that was supposed to be installed. I asked the guys if they were supposed to do that. They said they were not allowed to install those for liability purposes. I would have to get somebody to do it. It cost me almost $500 to have a Viking specialist come out and install it.
When the specialists came out, they said, “Your refrigerator’s not even drilled to the wall. Because if it's not, what can happen is if you open the door, the whole thing could tip over and could crush you.” The guy said they were gonna secure it, which they did. That was a pain, to begin with. The refrigerator side works fine. But we noticed that the icemaker was really slow from day one. We went back and forth with the Viking warranty people and Build.com where I purchased the refrigerator from. They sent somebody out to fix it four times. After the last time, it still wasn't working right. It never would produce over 20 ice cubes. Every time they would come out, they would tell me to give it 24 to 48 hours and I would have a big bin full of ice cubes. That never happened. We had family over and birthday parties. I had to go to 7-Eleven and grab a bag of ice and stick it in my freezer. After paying $15,000, that doesn't make me happy.
Build.com replaced the ice maker and it's still not working right. They apologized and they went ahead and ordered me a new refrigerator. But that refrigerator is not going to arrive until April 2022 so I'm stuck with this thing. It’s beautiful but it doesn’t make ice and the motor is really loud. I could have bought a car for that price I paid for the refrigerator so I want it to work 100%. Viking has been around for many years and they have beautiful products. After I placed the order with them versus Wolf, I happened to go online and I did some research and there are actually lots of really bad reviews. Viking is the least recommended. I have many regrets. I hate my refrigerator. We had issues with our other Viking products too like our stove and dishwasher.

I have a Viking stove that I've been pleased with it so I assumed their refrigerator would be of good quality. I got a brand new one and it was a store model because the other refrigerator was going to be a three-month wait, which I couldn't wait for. I received the refrigerator in June and I like the appearance of it. But I noticed one issue in mid-July where the door doesn't shut properly. The icemaker then broke in September. I noticed that it was freezing stuff in the back of the fridge. That was probably a few weeks afterward but I suspect it hadn't worked at all. I was told that there are three broken parts in my fridge and there is nothing that Viking can do until the supply chain works its way out. I'm not pleased.

We bought a 48" combined refrigerator and freezer and we were very happy with the size and the dimensions. We took it out of the box and we expected it'd be good to go and we wouldn't have any worries. However, there were some parts that were broken. I had to get my condenser coil replaced and my freezer wasn't making ice cubes. It was all covered under the warranty, it was just annoying. I called the warranty and told them the problem. They asked for the date of purchase, and it usually has the card that I have to register my products online with them and send them a receipt. Then they sent out the repair people and it got fixed. It's just right now, on the top, it's super freezing where my almond milk freezes. I have to get that recalibrated. My advice is to make sure to get the extended warranties that are out there for your appliance. You definitely need them, otherwise it would be very expensive to fix the appliances.

We had good luck with our Viking dishwasher and we really liked that a lot so we ended up doing the Viking refrigerator. We bought it from Best Buy and the woman was really knowledgeable and knew the brand well. She made the experience easy. I like that the Viking refrigerator is a counter-depth unit that we didn't have to have a built in. It was perfect for what we were looking for 'cause we didn't want to remodel the kitchen right away. The refrigerator also doesn't mark up easily and it's perfectly designed. The drawers, cabinets and storage spaces are very well-organized. We don't have any problems shifting things around.

Some say it's not what's on the outside, but the inside that matters. Viking believes both are important. The appearance makes a customer open THAT door. Thank you for upgrading with our brand and trusting our dealers.

My experience with my Viking has been great so far. I enjoyed the guy who sold it to me at Finwood Appliances. It's so much better than KitchenAid for about the same price. I like the way it looks and it feels well-made. I've had a stainless steel refrigerator before and I was constantly having to get fingerprints off. The Viking is better at not showing fingerprints. I also like the freezer and that there is no water dispenser because then I don't have water drips all over the front of my refrigerator. I just have a pitcher and I keep it in my refrigerator now for water. That's cleaner.

The techs came in and had to replace the whole shelf because they noticed that it wasn’t glued in from the factory. It came apart. The middle shelf that we had to have repaired that had the deli drawers in it isn't stable enough to put heavy items on it. And there is no other place to put heavy items on it. There should have been a middle bracket in the middle to support it against the back of the refrigerator. The new half freezer and half refrigerator is something new to me. I feel like it’s small. I liked Viking's reputation with the stoves, and form and fit. However, I'm disappointed with the refrigerator. We already had three service visits. We find it loud, which is a surprise to us. And it tends to ice things up in the fridge. The dealer has been responsive but they haven't been able to solve the problem. They said we have to live with the icing issue. That's by the design of the refrigerator. And that is also true of the compressor fan noise, which is, compared to the unit that we had that this replaced, it's significantly louder than I would expect any in-home refrigerator to be. And especially a high-end refrigerator like Viking.
For instance, for a long time it was loud enough that even the service person said, “Yes, that sounds like a failed bearing on the compressor fan.” And they came out and replaced that compressor fan. So they did that service. The original fan certainly had more of an issue. But the replacement fan is still significantly louder than the fridge that we had beforehand. If I could do it again, I wouldn't buy Viking.

Updated on 11/10/2021: I was prompted to respond to a previous review “privately” and feel my response should be “public” so I am requesting that this be linked to that previous complaint or minimally be made public as Viking’s public response was a deflection. The claim that it’s been sent to their escalation team is false as I have already been told by their in-house reps it’s been “escalated” for a the past week. Transparency is a good thing.
"Thank you for your response. After 9 months and numerous eta postponements I have been working with representatives within Viking aka Middleby Residential and have been told that our order was already expedited to your escalation team as of Tuesday November 9, 2021. In addition to speaking and emailing your internal representatives I have left a voice mail for Kevin ** -Viking President at ** to no avail. As of this evening 11/10/21 I have been emailed to direct all further inquires and questions to my local (NC) appliance dealer. Hmmm????? What??? I have filed formal complaints with BBB as well as this forum of ConsumerAffairs. I have also been contacted by Mississippi’s state Attorney Generals office today at 5:30 PM EST to provide them with more documentation. Which I will gather and forward tomorrow 11/11/21 -no problem.
The issue at hand is: I AGREE WITH YOU that because of the upside down and unprecedented supply chain disruption the world has limped through the past two years demand is up and supply is down. Where we part is: y’all should be clear and truthful with your valued customers. Good grief we love your slate blues and your apple reds and would partner with you unflinchingly but when you deflect and push off candidness with punting etas month to month to month ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. You’ve had my $36,343.96 for 9 months and are asking to hold it without delivering for 10-11 or more months. 3 out 6 appliances I have received are defective or damaged and I’d like to have to parts expedited to the repairman you’ve scheduled.
Be clear with your customers. Stop taking new orders on refrigeration products if you can’t fulfill them. Work on your current paid in full orders and field the questions your customers have. We’re all in this together. Quit hiding behind the retail and supply chain layers. Total looking forward to hearing from your escalation team personally. Make it a conference call and loop everyone in. Viking has all my contact information… I know Kevin ** Viking President does for sure."
Original Review: We purchased a suite of 8 kitchen appliances from an authorized Viking dealer in Feb. 2021. Viking aka Middleby Residential requires customers to sign a contract acknowledging 16-20 week turnaround and payment in full. We complied knowing it would take longer than the stated eta due to the pandemic and unsettled supply chain as well as paid $36k in full at time of order. After 6 months of waiting I started to press for delivery so our contractors could wrap up our kitchen remodel. At the end of Sept (8 months later) I received 6 of the 8 Viking components and three (3) of them were defective or damaged; the built-in oven has a defective exterior cooling fan, the exhaust vent has a defective speed control knob and we forgave the dented side panel on the dishwasher as it is hidden (although it appeared to be damaged before packaging for shipment).
The real problem is the non-delivery of the 36" 5 series refrigerator and 18" 7 series freezer. After many emails and phone calls this past week I spoke with a Viking inside rep (Hannah W) today and she conveyed Viking is unable to source grill kits for their entire 5 series refrigeration line and has no information on availability for the parts needed for the entire 7 series line of refrigeration. This is basically what we suspected since June and had been given vague excuses and phantom eta's that came and went every 4 weeks. I have tried to email Kevin ** Viking's president without success so today I left a voicemail for him at ** with my contact information as he needs to hear his customer's concerns first hand.
How is it that this manufacturer can continue to place orders and demand payment in full on products they know they cannot supply?? Is this not deceit?? I have asked Viking to stop selling their refrigeration until all previous paid orders are completed. I have asked that they suspend their advertising of these units while knowing they do not have materials on hand to complete. I have also asked that they stop requiring 100% upfront payment knowing they cannot fulfill these orders and are basically able to use their customers' cash as interest free loans.
I have filed a grievance with the BBB and the state of Mississippi's Attorney General Lynn Fitch's office stating the above issues. Had Viking been upfront in the beginning and honest about availability, adjusted their payment policies to reflect the uncertain supply capabilities and provided repair parts for defective shipped appliances this would have felt more like a partnership instead of a grab and go sales deal.

Thank you for letting us know of your experience. We deeply apologize for all areas of concern. As with all manufacturers during this difficult time, Viking has experienced delays due to vendor availability. After careful review, your information has been forwarded to our escalation team. I was putting in a high-end kitchen and purchased all Viking products. They're industrial feeling. I like the size and capacity of the refrigerator. I also like the way it looks and the ability for it to be built into the kitchen. However, Best Buy managed to make the experience very difficult. There was a significant delay in a lot of the products and they couldn't figure out how to get updates. I ended up finding the 1-800-VIKING number and calling them directly to find out what was going on. I got updates myself because Best Buy acted like their hands were tied in the process.
Then Viking doesn't have support and service in my area other than Best Buy to install it, which makes the experience poor. So, even when I got my refrigerator installed, Best Buy acted like they weren't gonna be able to do it. They gave me a hard time about it ‘cause I didn't have cabinets in that they wanted. I had to escalate it just to get them to install it. It was so troublesome. I had the same issue with the hood for my range. But Best Buy ended up compensating me by giving complimentary five-year warranties on all my products. They also gave me a free range for about three months during the delay of the range from Viking because the delivery deadline was so different than what they originally communicated to me. They redeemed themselves, but it doesn't change their inability to deal with the process during the process.

I like the Viking brand name. It seems well-recognized and established. We also liked the design of the fridge. We wanted a top fridge, lower pullout freezer drawer, which is a more traditional unit that is harder to find. We've had a few issues with it since installation and the response has been good in getting those issues dealt with.
We've had one service technician come out. There was also an evaporation water spillover on the floor. And he was able to identify that the heating unit, which is optional, it was never explained to us nor was it turned on. So he installed one for us. That evaporation issue has gone away and we haven't had any more puddles on the floor.
Also, there hum from the fan in the condensation unit on the top of the fridge. And we're still trying to figure out whether that was because of the way it was installed or whether it's the device. He thought that with us wiggling the actual fit in the cabinet, it might improve the humming. It did but the humming is still with us. So we were going to live with it for another week and then I'm going to call another service order request or pull the fridge out and put it back in to see if that makes any difference.
Our experience with respect to Viking has been more than satisfactory. They provide ample information with respect to the installation preparation and making sure the cabinet fits. Our cabinet was designed for the original KitchenAid. So we had to substitute a different refrigerator with slightly different dimensions. But it still fit.

NOW, we have no water dispenser and we have an entirely new problem -- where the ice maker sprays water all over the inside of the freezer causing a film of ice to cover everything.
Now, I have to "defrost" my freezer ever 3 weeks like my mom did in the 1970s by taking everything out and scraping chunks of ice out of of the freezer. When the ice maker DOES work, it makes one tray of ice about every 12 hours which is not helpful for a family of 5. We have had the freezer serviced 3x which has cost us a thousand dollars and each time the repairman tells me how many Viking fridges he is called for -- and how AWFUL Viking customer service is. Also, the fridge has an ice maker that dumps ice in a tray in the freezer section of the refrigerator. If you pull out the freezer section, ice cubes in the back tumble out on the ground. I don't see that as being a positive feature of the refrigerator at all. I've never had a refrigerator that tumbled ice cubes on the floor because the tray isn't holding properly. We got a stove and some other appliances. The stove, we had issue with. It's a gas stove. The proper gas nozzle apertures were requested when we ordered it but they were not sent. And there were some issues between our local dealer getting that correct nozzle. That took time. And during the installation, the installers broke a piece of the stove or the oven. And it took two times to get the correct part. They got it the first time and they installed it, and the local people who were our installers and our repairer as well, said, “This isn't right.” So it went back to Viking. We talked to somebody. Got it right. And same thing with those nozzles. It wasn't done correct the first time. I don't know where that issue lies, if it was with our local person not being able to articulate what was properly needed, or Viking not understanding or sending the wrong piece altogether.
We chose Viking for several reasons. The aesthetics of it, how it looks, the way it would fit into our kitchen, the design, and its reliability, that it was a very good brand. I like how, when we open the doors, they feel substantial. Most refrigerator and freezer doors, you open them, they feel lightweight and not put together well. BUYER BEWARE. They will NEVER replace a product that is brand new and doesn't work, they WILL keep sending repair people and order parts. Fact: Bought a new Viking refrigerator/freezer. Fact: Doors are cracked and freezer doesn't work, refrigerator freezing everything. Fact: Notified retailer, they sent two repair people to appraise, both said it should be replaced. Fact: Third repairperson finally told us what Viking wanted to say, which was "it can be fixed if we replace the doors and thermostats."
Vikings policy is they will NOT take back, even a brand new appliance, if they can replace all of the parts. Problem, parts have been on backorder so we have no freezer for 2 months and our refrigerator freezes our food. Viking did offer us $400 to buy another refrigerator until the parts finally come in. Where are we to put this, and where can I get one for $400 with installation? I have begged, literally, for them to replace it... I didn't ask for our money back, just replace with a quality item... They refused. I was better off with my other brands that were less money. I will NEVER EVER tell anyone to buy Viking. Honestly, it is a horrible situation.

Viking had a good price for their refrigerator model as far as what's out the market. So far, the quality has been good and cleaning has been fine. I like how much it holds.

Our Viking Refrigerator is crap. The drip pan was cracked and the door for top drawer shelf for dairy products keeps falling off. We're supposed to get a new one and that's been a month. I've had four service calls in trying to figure out what is going on with it. And so far, no one's been able to figure it out. Also, it’s loud and the fans make some noise.
I've called to let Viking know several times but the only authorized repair dealer in our area is the one that broke the previous fridge. They're awful as well. We're still working with Viking. I spent 12,500 grand buying a new fridge. I'm not gonna throw it away and go find something else until they figure out what's going on with it.

The Viking Refrigerator that I got is great. It's everything I thought it would be. I like the bright lights, being able to change the configuration that it has. I like the more solid material. There is one thing I wish they did have that is not there, and that's a filter for the water that goes to the ice. 'Cause typically the water connections are behind it, and since this is built-in, it's not like a regular fridge where you can pull it out and then change the filter. I had to run a line from my reverse osmosis system to go to the back, even though there's a water connection with the spigot built into my house behind it. But everything else has been great. We're pretty happy with it. It looks great and performs really well.

We are certain your days will turn into many years of experiencing the immeasurable quality and service Viking offers through our products. Thank you for being part of the family.

My Viking 48" refrigerator is plagued with problems. The door spring snapped, the ice maker broke, the water dispenser constantly freezes, and food in the refrigerator freezes even though the temperature is set correctly. Viking is expensive to buy, expensive to repair and are not built with quality in mind! Avoid Viking!

When we first got the refrigerator, the bottom of the freezer started filling up with ice. The technician came out. Somehow, in the construction of the refrigerator, all this insulation had been sprayed down the tubes and supposed to drain that stuff out. They replaced the whole refrigerator. But then the bottom of each of the doors of the new refrigerator were all clogged up with the same sort of spray foam insulation. The technician came out again said that the doors needed to be replaced. NOW, I'm going on five months waiting for that. Viking is just waiting for the new doors to be manufactured.
The refrigerator works, but it's not right yet, and I took a five-year extended warranty on it. With this defect, I'm wondering if that five-year extended warranty is going to be extended when I finally get a refrigerator that works properly. I wish it was something that could be resolved in a timely manner. I understand people gotta wait for parts, but I bought the refrigerator at the end of December, and I'm still waiting for it to be fixed.

Thank you for taking the time to let Viking know of the issue you have experienced. We will be following up with the service provider to make sure all areas have been addressed and the unit working as it should for you.

I waited over 6 months for delivery of my Viking 48” Refrigerator. The evening after install it started to have a loud grinding sound that ran 24hrs. Even at 6am I can hear it grind from upstairs as I go to the kitchen. Why is it running at 6am when not opened for 12hrs? I called Viking and they sent out a service rep who listened and decided it could be a condenser fan. I questioned if only a fan issue why does it run 24hrs? He said a part would be sent to me directly and I was to call for him to return. It has been six weeks and no contact from Viking or Repairman.
A box arrived today with a flat piece of steel “fan bracket” I called service who asked me to send photo of what I received. They did not tell me what part was ordered and have not yet provided any estimate for repair. I am requesting them to refund or replace this faulty refrigerator and no response from Viking. Very disappointing to pay $12,000 for a noise maker and a manufacturer that does not seem to care. I guess next week I will have to hire an attorney to file a formal claim. Buyer beware!

The customer service of Viking is great. I love their warranty. Like for example, there were a couple of issues with my Viking Refrigerators a few months back. I just simply called them and they had someone come over and fix it. I didn't need to pay anything and worry about anything. I also had rusting issues in a couple of racks and baskets. Then I talked to the Viking customer representative and they just sent me new ones without asking for any information. They didn't say, “Can you take a picture of them or show me receipts?” They never asked for such information, which is great because it’s hard to get.

It's truly humbling to hear from start to finish you are more than satisfied. Thank you for giving Viking the chance to continue providing excellent service and quality.

The refrigerator appeared to be nicely made, and it had a very nice exterior finish and design. It also had a good price point relative to other built-in fridges and a very nice incentive plan in effect when we made the purchase. I went from a freezer combo to this 42-inch side-by-side refrigerator. I love opening a smaller door whenever I go into the refrigerator. I really like the interior lighting and the space at the very bottom which allows you to put in a full pizza pie or deep-dish thing in there. Even though it's a very shallow fridge, it's got a fairly open spot at the very bottom, which I like a lot. All the bins seem to be very nicely made. I'm pretty happy with the fridge. The only issue I have with the freezer is that the cold air from the freezer compartment coming into the refrigerator comes in at one spot at the top. So things next to that will have a tendency to freeze, especially if something warm is put somewhere else in the fridge.
I bought the Viking refrigerator from Best Buy and they were helpful. They had difficulties in the delivery mostly because of supply shortages and also in terms of getting here in the time frame that my association allows. The biggest issue I had was that they didn't install the refrigerator properly. They never screwed it in. They left about a 3/4-inch gap above the fridge in the cabinets. I went online and figured out how to jack it up, which I did, and leveled it and screwed it in. So all looks great now. But I did most of the installation myself because the guys didn't know how to do it. It didn't bother me that much because I didn't pay a separate installation fee. But it would have been more helpful if they told me the truth that they aren't gonna install it and I should hire someone to do it.

When the refrigerator was delivered, the shell was dimpled. So I had two replacements come out, and Viking could not correct that. I got a third refrigerator last week. I was traveling on a weekend, and the compressor stopped, but it came back on. So I'm still having problems with Viking. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't choose Viking. They're not very good products at this time. But their technicians have been great.

The experience with Viking Refrigerators has been great so far although I had to have some repairs done immediately. It was nothing big. I called the warranty company local in Houston and they're good.

The Viking refrigerator has a lot of space so I’m happy about that. But we've only had it a few months and we've had two calls out. The quality doesn't seem to be there. The top of motor went out where it wasn't cooling and they had to replace a lot of parts. Then recently, the lower freezer section started frosting up and they fixed it. It was under warranty.

I put a gourmet kitchen in our house and Viking is the brand of appliance that I wanted around our stove. The stove, dishwasher, double oven, and microwave were fine. But I've had problems with the refrigerator and the wine refrigerator and I've had the appliance store at our house. For the refrigerator, this will be the fourth time, and for the wine refrigerator, twice. After paying the amount of money for all my appliances, I'd like to have them working correctly. I'm hoping that this next fix, when the technician comes out, is going to resolve the issues.

Viking Model VCBB536ELSS has been a nightmare. This is an $8,000 refrigerator. Constant ice buildup. Finally, it died completely after many visits from repairman trying to thaw the back of the unit out and replacing motors. Viking agreed to replace for free. They even extended the warranty for me because it was 8 months of dealing with this nightmare. I have had the new one since November 2020 and the SAME THING IS HAPPENING again!! I cannot stress enough what a pain and expense with wasted food this has been.
