TruGreen Lawn Care Reviews

If you're in the Hudson Valley and want to use TruGreen lawn or shrub care you in for the worst service in America. There has been problem after problem and management does not care. I cannot get a manager to call me. They have been on the phone for hours trying to get support. No one deserves to be treated so unprofessionally.

We had contracted them to do 7 applications to our lawn this year and paid in full. They came and did one application on April 16th and have not been back since. Every time we call they tell us we are on the list for later that week and have changed the date 5 times. And still it is not done. We called to cancel. Now they can have somebody out today. Yeah too late. Yet 3 neighbors' lawns were done in last 3 weeks. They could not come across the street to do ours.

When you have a service problem with TruGreen services, just call them and they will send someone out to correct the problem. They are always courteous to the customer.

TruGreen service has been excellent. When I purchased my house in 2012, condition of the lawn was pathetic. There were lot of weeds and crabgrass. Today, we have lush green lawn with ZERO weeds/crabgrass. In true essence, TRUGREEN has made our yard GREEN again. Love it...

I wish I could remember the name of my lawn care specialist - he deserves to be singled out. He's always polite, professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I usually greet him in the yard with a couple questions - like what kind of grass is this part? Asked, so that I know what kind of grass seed to buy for a couple bald spots. He always knows the answer. He always tells me what service he is providing on that visit. He will caution me if he's put something down that needs to be avoided by my dog for 24 hours. I have complete confidence in him.

We were desperately looking for a company to help us diagnose & treat the lifeless backyard & part of the front yard lawn. After trying couple of companies with no success we decided to clean everything & put new sod. Before taking this drastic & expensive approach I came across a sign & contacted the company. TruGreen came to the rescue. We couldn't be happier. From the people that pick up the phone all the way to the agents that actually do the service, we are completely satisfied with the professionalism and knowledge they've shared. Our yard is so beautiful. I only wished we had a before/after photo to share with people. We are very happy customers.

TruGreen and their specialists are exceptional and I have one of the most beautiful lawns in the neighborhood because of this fine company and their employees.

After 2 services to kill weeds in the gravel and grass, they are still there! The same exact weeds... brown on top, green and still strong at bottom. Called and they don't guarantee their service until 4 services. Roundup kills weeds in one app but yet theirs doesn't?! They suck! Don't use them! I'm mad after $125.00.

Devon has always taken care of any problems we have had with our lawn. You can ask him any question and he has the answer. If it were not for him we probably not stay with TruGreen.

Very pleased with the service that TruGreen provided and would highly recommend them because of the major difference in my lawn appearance since their services.

TruGreen has save my lawn and the dividends pay out with every glance at the yard. I was really frustrated to make it all work but the TG plan is really quite successful. I have recommended them to all my neighbors.

The technician arrived on time, performed the task, looked over the lawn and left us a note re: what he did and what may need to be done.

I have had TruGreen for over 12 months. Absolutely worthless, technicians rush through the service and on to the next lawn. My grass looks no better than it did before I started. Needless to say I will be canceling my service.

I left TruGreen several years ago and went with another company. Big Mistake. Their "specialist" appeared to just go through the motions spreading whatever and when asked a question just shrugged and said it was best to call the office. I remembered your technician Mr. John ** (hopefully spelled correctly) and here I am back again with TruGreen. John has been and is today my technician and is more than qualified in the application as well as the presentation of the various services TruGreen offers. I am a retired engineer/supervisor for the General Electric Company and if he reported to me, I would promote, or create a position, for him to personally interact with TruGreen customers and get him off the truck where he could hands-on supervise your various technicians throughout your service areas. He is more than an asset to your company and should be appropriately recognized.

I have to warn others of my 2nd year experience with TruGreen. I'm only talking about my area that's treats the lawns which is in Upper Marlboro, MD. I only received one treatment for weeds since I had signed up and they never would come back for the next appointment. No matter if they had an appointment day or not. They would not show up. I constantly had to call to find out why they are not showing up! I don't know why I resigned. I thought it was going to be better or maybe had new management or something and I had got this good rate so that's why have it one more try. But the same thing that happened last year 2015 is happening again in 2016. Now we're really behind in treatments. We're trying to follow their program for a weed free and green lawn and they're not even following it. It's the craziest thing ever. 1 treatment since the season started and here it is almost June.

TruGreen and my specialist has done a superb job caring for my lawn. Where I had all weeds at one time, now I have a beautiful lawn.

The service technician, Jamie **, is very thorough and completes his tasks with great care. We are very happy to have him as our regular provider. The TruGreen products are also doing the job. We are pleased.

Truegreen, you will like it! My yard gets so many compliments. The service is timely and the cost is reasonable. Service received is efficient. Our service man is courteous and very knowledgeable.

Over the 2 years doing business with you my lawn has greatly improved. Still work to be done to get it where I really want it. Golf course approved.

After years of damage and total neglect, our yard is the envy of the neighborhood! Since we began using TruGreen, the service card was left to explain what services were completed. Anthony also explains what services he will provide and the effects they will have on our yard in the near future. And, while we are so pleased with TruGreen's services and providing us with our own "TruGreen Lawn Sanctuary", one of the most important reasons we are pleased with our TruGreen service is how Anthony takes the time to talk about how our yard is his "Baby" and "Work of Art".

This service weeds, feeds, and sprays for extra hard weeds like wild violets and creeping Charlie ivy. We love all the workers that have been to our home in the last 2 years. They're all very personable, nice, and truly caring. They have all done their job thoroughly and to perfection. We have never had a problem with this company or any of its employees. When employees get promotions, the workers they are replaced with are just as nice and knowledgeable.

2nd year using your lawn care services and our front/back yard has never looked better. Thank you.

How these guys are still in business with their terrible customer service. First of all, they never even showed up after I had an "appointment" and waited the entire day. I called in and complained and they said they would take care of us and sent a "manager" out the next day. He called me and said he looked at our lawn and it needs work (no kidding, why else did I call them) but that they "aren't miracle workers". This was beyond rude and they clearly didn't want my business so I went elsewhere. Apparently their competitors are miracle workers because they got the lawn just where I wanted and needed it to be and they were really nice.

Every aspect of the TruGreen service has been exceptional. The service personnel have been informing and show they care about our results.

Our TruGreen tech is awesome. My lawn looks amazing. I have people compliment me on it all the time. I have no weeds, crab grass and the dark green color shows off our healthy lawn. Our Tech is also very honest. He sprayed one of our bushes and offered to pay for it. It didn't kill it but most of the time we are not home when they service the lawn so we would have never known. That kind of customer service adds value all on its own.

Mike ** rang my bell, introduced himself, and told me he would be applying fertilizer to my lawn. He asked me if I had any questions. He was polite and did his job. My neighbors compliment me on having a plush, green lawn.

I recommend TRUGREEN as a number 1 service for anyone who enjoys a great lawn and tree/shrubs service. If you want the best service go TRUGREEN.

Renard **, my TruGreen Specialist is the "best of the best." He always knocks on the door, checks to see if I have any concerns and reviews with me what he is going to do that day and what I should expect after the treatment is completed. He knows what he is talking about which can be seen in the beauty of our lawn. We appreciate his care and maintenance of our lawn.

Being very busy, I'm lucky to find time to cut the grass every week, let alone do all the treatments necessary to maintain a nice lawn. TRUGREEN affords me the opportunity to have a nice lawn and all I have to do is keep it mowed! I despise weeds and it is just awesome not to have any in my yard! Could I do it myself? Yes, but my time is valuable and limited, so TRUGREEN helps me multi-task!!!

I appreciate the timely service given by the TruGreen team. I have seen significant improvements in the lawn since TruGreen first began treating it, and this has also freed up a lot of my time so that I don't have to worry about all of the particulars of lawn care. TruGreen's team is usually good about contacting me to let me know when service will take place, the technician will always knock on the door to indicate that work is about to begin, and notification about any billing is immediately available so that I can reconcile the cost of service with TruGreen. I like the ability to pay online instead of having to mail a paper check.

My lawn and shrubs look wonderful due to the regular care from TruGreen. I love the beauty of my landscape around my house but can't physically take care of it. TruGreen does that for me and at a reasonable cost!

Recently TruGreen serviced our yard with the regularly scheduled maintenance. Our yard looks great. We always received feedback as to the condition of our yard and recommendations.

Satisfied Customer. Very happy with the condition of our lawn. It is the best it has looked in the 5 years we have lived here.

I was dissatisfied with the initial application since zero weeds died, but instead thrived. They came back and reapplied. Several months later, the weeds are still growing, the crabgrass is going wild. All I got to show for their many visits is a wrecked vehicle (since their driver side swiped it) and a live oak that is dying since their last application. Very disappointed in their promises vs. what they actually accomplish.

The grass I want in my yard does not green until late in the year. I was having trouble with unwanted grass and weeds in my yard and called the number on the website. I was pressured to set up bill pay and declined. I requested that someone come out and talk with me about my lawn before service. I was told this was not done that I could only talk to the person I was talking to and the information would be given to the service person. I requested afternoon and made sure I was on the property and could keep my pet off the treated lawn. I showed the service person the unwanted grass and the weeds. He said he would take care of it. He applied fertilizer and weed killer. I paid the bill he left via mail. The fertilizer caused the unwanted grass to explode. The weed killer did very little if anything to slow the weeds. I waited the required time to call back and complained. I was told the service person would be back out apply weed killer only.

Very pleased with results. My lawn looks noticeably healthier. Very friendly service specialist.

When someone takes pride in the work that they do it matters to me! That reflects on the company as well! The specialist was very confident he could get my lawn to look the way I wanted! He did that and more by answering all of my questions! Thank you Zach for your patience and expertise! My lawn looks nice!

When we moved in about 4 years ago, the yard was in poor shape. In fact we probably had more weeds than we did grass. Now, we have one of the healthiest yards on the block and we are proud of our yard. No longer the shame of the neighborhood!

I had been using TruGreen now for several years, and the lawn is everything I expect it to be! I have a carpet of beautiful weed free grass! Anytime I have an issue with weeds all I need to do is call and the problem is resolve. The price is reasonable and it saves me time in doing this myself every 4 weeks or so. Thanks TruGreen!

Wonderful job. My yard is looking greener and healthier. I stopped for a short time and the weeds grew rampant and I knew that I had to call TruGreen and get you back.

I called TruGreen because they had made an application a few weeks ago, and I thought I had crabgrass. The lady that answered the phone was understanding and said that someone would be out within three days to fix the problem. I was working in my yard when the TruGreen Specialist, Chris **, arrived. He asked me to show him the crabgrass. What I thought was crabgrass was real grass with seedlings. Chris was professional, helpful and polite - a very positive member of TruGreen.

Even though my lawn is not the best around I value my TruGreen experience. There are not any weeds or anything to make what we have unsightly. I value the relationship with TruGreen. Most services just come and go to get their time in but my TruGreen rep works with me to get the best out my grass. Thanks guys.

I used TruGreen for 2 years over a decade ago. My lawn went from a few weed that I didn't know how to control, to a yard full of weeds and the worst lawn I'd ever had. They would come out well behind schedule, and I even caught them driving up, putting their sign down and leaving without doing any work. I actually played ball with a manager of a different branch. Through this I learned that TruGreen was extremely good at excuses. He could always come up with great ones. So I paid quite a bit of money for some very good excuses.

The front lawn is very green. I have it mowed by a landscaper every two weeks at 3" per visit. It is looking extremely well. Weed killer was applied to the back and side lawns. The weed killer is doing its job as the weeds are not growing. I did fail to ask when another weed killer would be applied. I would like an answer to this question.

My grass is the best on the block. Looks beautiful. The service man very professional and rings my bell upon arrival and if I have any questions he will answer them. He also tells me what he will be applying to the grass during his service call.

I have used TruGreen Lawn and Tree and Shrub services for several years and have been very pleased with their service that I have received. The technicians that I have interacted with have been courteous and have always ask if I have any unexpected needs that they can service.

I am not sure if this complaint is the end of my story. I had the company come out and apply the product to the lawn and, on the second day after the service I had brown grass all over my lawn in both the back and the front. I called, spoke with a customer service rep and said the company would send someone out. They did, the tech took responsibility for the problem. I took pictures before the tech came out and put grass seeds out and, told us to water every day, which we did, the problem only got worse because the areas are now larger than before they came out to put grass seed on the lawn without any soil or taking up any of the dead grass. I just tried to call today but the office is closed. I will however be following up on Monday 5/9/2016 and hope that the company does the right thing with our lawn because it is a mess. Looking for great customer service.

The sign in the yard may be advertising, but it also reminds me as an older, forgetful person, that they have treated the lawn, so pets and kids should not be on it. I love the fact that when I come down my street from **, that my lawn is the greenest on the block and looks very healthy with no dandelions.

TruGreen's customer focus, responsiveness, quality applications, attention to any problem spot, have directly resulted in a green, healthy, generally weedless lawn, having the appearance of a green smooth carpet and golf course turf. The specialist always ring the doorbell to let me know he has arrived. He informs me of the type of treatment and make recommendations for the care of my lawn. The specialist is always friendly and professional.

Multiple treatments customized for our lawn and applied at the appropriate time has our lawn looking fantastic. The specialist always comes to the door to describe the objectives of the current treatment and the projected results.

We moved last year into a brand new home with a new yard to grow. We had several issues with weeds and thistles. A TruGreen representative came to our neighborhood and we signed up for several treatments. Since we have been treating yard we can really tell that the treatments have helped a great deal. No thistles or weeds and grass is looking thicker. The only problem is that we signed up for auto pay and since we are on a limited income (retired) we don't have a set schedule of when they come to treat yard. It would really be nice if when you sign up for several treatments throughout year that a schedule be set up so you know exactly when they will be coming and you can be better prepared for payment of that treatment. We are on auto pay but still need to have a schedule of when that treatment will be. Other than that we are completely satisfied with TruGreen.

Overall I've been pleased with my lawn service from TruGreen. I've found if I'm not pleased and I call them they respond to my complaint to get it fixed.

When I purchased my home a little over a year ago the yard was in pretty bad shape and not much to look at. Signing on with TruGreen has helped me get it healthy and expanding through the yard. Timely services and follow-up, phone customer support is great and I am totally satisfied with the service.

TruGreen seems to be concerned about the appearance of my lawn.

We are having issues with a certain area of our yard and I was talking about it with the technician. He said he can't help at this point, but he was very nice. I wish the technicians that have been coming out for our treatments would have noticed the problem and done something about it before it was too late. But, overall, our lawn looks exceptional, with the exception of one area. Compared to last year when we started using TruGreen to now I am exceptionally happy. We actually have a lawn instead of weeds.

Richard ** consistently does a good job. Always greets me with a handshake and a "how goes it". Informs me as to what he is putting down and cleans up after the job when needed. Makes recommendations re: watering, etc. Good conversations.

TruGreen offers a service with professional staff who work on schedule and produce excellent results. This is about our third year with TruGreen and we plan to continue.

I had used them for three years and still have crabgrass. Recently I was unemployed for a year and decided not to hire them for the current year. I did not respond to any of their current year solicitations or sign any documents allowing them to treat my yard in the current year. They showed up when I wasn't home and treated my yard. They are supposed to call first but didn't. I sent them an email discontinuing my service after they showed up without my permission. I got a bill for the unapproved and unsolicited service and when I called to tell them I wasn't going to pay for a service I didn't order, they said because I ordered it three years ago, it was renewed automatically annually even though I cancelled the credit card on the account and nobody called before coming to treat my yard.

I've been with TruGreen since 2011, with my trees and shrubs. The specialist treating my yard has always been knowledgeable, pleasant, reliable and dependable. The treatments he uses for insects or fungus always seem to be appropriate. If I note a problem in between service visits, he makes a special trip to check it out. I highly recommend this company.

They have a pretty good job on my lawn.

I was initially reluctant to hire TruGreen to help me resolve my lawn problems. I have a very large lawn which I've struggled for years to get rid of the weeds and develop a lush green lawn. I felt my lawn and its problems would be too difficult for TruGreen and they would just take my money and not do a good job. So far after only one service visit I am pleasantly surprised. The technician spent a very long time treating my lawn and I'm sure he covered the whole area. If this service continues, I'm confident the weeds will be eliminated so the grass can grow thick and strong.

The entire process is very professional from the initial call through the follow up. My specialist is always timely, friendly and does quality work. I greatly appreciate the communication card he leaves behind letting me know what he did and things for me to be aware of with my lawn.

Company has greatly improved look and health of the property. They are responsive to concerns of the customer and have provided a very qualified technician - Rebecca - to monitor and service the property to maintain a consistent improvement.

9/4/15 - worker JW comes out to spray 4-month-old new sod at a newly built house for nutsedge. Worker sprays 1/2 the lawn with a chemical later identified as a grass killer. Worker does not spray east side of lawn, suspicion he knew of his mistake but does not tell anyone. As grass is dying over the next few days, numerous calls to TruGreen 1-800 number and the local Springfield office go unanswered. 9/16/15 - worker AH comes out to treat lawn and admits, "It looks bad." He says he will speak to his supervisor. Week of 9/22/15 Supv. L comes out and apologizes and says they will make it right without any further cost to me. Supv. L even takes photographs so he can show his boss and why I will not be paying.

At first the cost seemed very reasonable. However, after looking at the time stamp on a couple bills I noticed they were only on my property for about a minute each time. Now my yard is not huge, but whatever they are doing each time I would expect to take longer than a minute. After a year, I saw no results. My yard looked exactly the same. What was very annoying was the day after a treatment, I would start getting calls for payment. Just one day after! I think if they invested as much time on the actual lawn as they do calling for payments so quickly, maybe everyone would see better service. Turns out after speaking to a couple neighbors, they have all had the same experience at some point and dropped TruGreen as well.

My experience with TRUGREEN and their associates has always been positive. Very helpful with any questions or concerns that I may have regarding my lawn care. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

I've been a customer for two years. Service wasn't cheap but ok. This year I've had to call 3 times and still had nobody come out for my first application. They keep telling me next week but still nothing. I should be on second application already. Don't waste your time. Shop and get someone cheaper and better.

TruGreen is a good quality product when applied correctly. It takes at least 2 years of service to get the results. Worth the wait.

We are very pleased with the appearance of our lawn, especially in comparison to some other lawns in our neighborhood. The persons that have treated our lawn and shrubbery over the years have been informative and have made good recommendations.

I have had TruGreen for several years (at least 13yrs) and have nothing but good things to say about their service. My lawn never quite looked good until TruGreen took over. It took a couple of years to get it looking real good, but my yard was a mess no matter how much I worked on it and no matter how much I spent on it. I never could get it looking thick and healthy. Now I'm on disability and they continue to do my lawn because I wouldn't trust no one else. I can count on them to be there when they say they are and when I've had the chance to meet the employee on occasion they have always been polite and knowledgeable. Very few times over the years have they had to come back and take care of a few weeds.

Always on time, always polite, friendly, anytime we had a question the explanation was direct, non-technical and very helpful, representative very knowledgeable. Work was perfect as usual.

We have used TruGreen Lawn service for the past three years. It seems that we have to engage in some sort of game every year to get our service re-started after the winter. We paid in full last fall for the entire upcoming season. I noticed a fungus on part of my fescue and when I called to inquire about it, discovered that I should have had two visits already. The customer service reps are not allowed to transfer you to a supervisor. You have to wait for a callback. Very frustrating to say the least. The Charlottesville, VA location has been nothing but a hassle to deal with. Period.

I am very happy with the service I get from TruGreen. My lawn looks so much better than most of my neighbors. The specialists are courteous and willingly give me tips on how to care for it. There has never been a question about someone coming back to repeat a service if needed.

I called TruGreen on May 28, 2015 and subscribed one-year service. I also paid one-year expense in advance during the call. On the call, I emphasized that I only want to try the service for one year as this is the first time that I used the service. Customer service officer is so eager to finalize the contract with me and never told me that one-year contract would automatically be renewed and the so called one-year is not a calendar year.

I hired TruGreen to service my lawn in the spring of 2015. They were to fertilize and do weed killer on my lawn. In the six months that I had them I saw one person. I told them that I wanted to be present when they serviced my lawn. They always seemed to show up when I was gone. The weeds didn't get killed but I do have to say that I asked them to do the fire ant killer and they did and it worked for about eight months. I cancelled my service because I saw no improvement in my lawn like others. They continued to call me for months after I cancelled.

As mentioned, TruGreen provides wonderful lawn service. We are loyal customers for several years. That is due to great care and kind professionals who arrive on time and write detailed accounts of work done.

My TruGreen tree and shrub professional just came today to fertilize for spring. He is always professional and courteous. But even more than that, he remembers our property and our tree concerns. He takes his time and asks questions about the performance of our trees. He always has helpful suggestions.

Great experience with TruGreen - rep is very informative and my yard has never looked better.

This year is the best my lawn ever looked. Thanks to my TruGreen specialist Jonathan **. Mr. ** is very professional, courteous, nice, respectful, and knowledgeable, always letting me know what to expect after each application of my lawn care and what I need to do to keep a healthy lawn.

Last spring, while living at our old home in Fairfax, VA, my wife and I spent almost $400.00 working on our lawn, which included topsoil, reseeding, and plant food. We had our lawn in great shape with lots of new grass growing. We were approached by a representative from TruGreen and talked into a contract with a promise of a beautiful lawn. After several treatments, I noticed that our grass was burned and dying. We had spots where the grass was burned more than other places. It looked like they had spilled the chemical as they were trying to load it into their spreader. I came home after one treatment and found chemicals spilled in my driveway and they made no attempt to clean it up. I called the company and got NO satisfaction. BY THE END OF THE SUMMER WE HAD LARGE BARE SPOTS WITH NO GRASS. If you decide to use these people, do it at your own risk.

TruGreen has been out twice and since then my lawn has dead spots where it was over fertilized. I have called twice to speak with someone and both times assured that someone would return my call, was told the 2nd time I called that the 1st time I called, the call was never logged into the system. I had faith in TruGreen that they hire professionals, people whom know what they are doing and have experience but obviously this is not the case and at the rate they are going, I will have no lawn left.

Crab grass preventive. I was told this was not in the first application and TruGreen will put it in second application. In this area they recommend it to be put down prior to April 15th and wonder why TruGreen waits until second application to put it down???

These companies that spread their poison on lawns kill pets, children, animals, and everything. Chemlawn was sued for poisoning and killing so many and now they took on a new name TruGreen. These chemicals come with warning by the EPA and other agencies! The chemicals are known to be carcinogenic and pollutes the oceans, streams, rivers, killing wildlife and cause destruction! Yet, they try to convince consumers that their product is safe. When these companies come into the neighborhoods and spray I have had to go to the doctor's office with breathing difficulties. I am sick and tired of humans destroying my health and animal life. These companies should just go out of business for good!

Met with the Sean ** prior to the application of product to go over lawn issues. He pointed out that I had been over watering and suggested a routine and schedule for proper watering. The treatment designed for my property was then discussed and applied. Sean is very familiar with the product line and developed a program specific to my needs to insure a lush, green, weed free lawn. I have seen excellent results over the past year of service and would recommend TruGreen and Sean to all my neighbors without hesitation.

Fabio came to our home to apply fertilizer and weed killer. He does a terrific job and the yard looks great. This is especially impressive as both of our next-door neighbors do not inhibit the growth of weeds in their yards.
