For the last two months, we have tried to resolve a couple of issues and experienced the worst and most dishonest organization to deal with. The service manager of the Danbury office visited and inspected our lawn and trees and he said about the lawn "if we have been doing the job, it shouldn't look like that!!" He also promised to send an expert to check out the trees and why they started to die after they treated them. The expert visit never happened. Our lawn is full of weeds and crabgrass, our trees are dying and despite repeated calls, they don't care to call back... I have sent an email which the office manager acknowledged and said that she gave it to the service manager who will call us... the same one who inspected the lawn. One week later, tried to call again and were promised he will call but no calls...
I contacted TruGreen accounting department twice in hope that they can help... On both occasions, they indicated that they will send the complaint to higher-ups and will be in touch... days go by and no calls... Today, I spoke with accounting again and was told that she has a note that the office tried to call 3 times but couldn't leave a message... we inspected our phone and they never called nor tried to leave a message (everyone else can leave messages)! This company should be ashamed of lying and cheating customers! They don't treat lawns but they want to be paid for no work!!! How can they get away with such crimes???
Prior to TruGreen taking over Scotts lawn service, Scotts treated our lawn for close to 10 years. Prior to this year, we didn't inspect the lawn very close so, we don't know if this has been ongoing for the last years or started this year. We have lots of photos that we just took off the lawn and the trees. We will give TruGreen a last opportunity before posting all the photos and names of managers involved in the scam!
I had new sod put down in June. In late July I noticed some weeds starting to creep in so I hired TruGreen to keep my lawn healthy and green. Paid $440 for service. They came two days later and killed the weeds and the grass. They "spot sprayed" the weeds so now I have dead patches in my new sod. I called them and they sent another kid out and whatever he did is turning my nice green lawn a sickly yellow color (I think it is dying). When I call to get a refund of my unused money the SIX different reps I spoke to all insist I have to speak to a "manager" and they tell me said manager will call me back - but he never does. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I am now seeking help from the BBB.
I have security cameras installed on my property and today TruGreen was scheduled to treat my yard and I wanted to see what exactly I am paying $51.00 a month for and I am NOT HAPPY AT ALL. Please discontinue my service and reimburse us for the remainder of visits we already paid for. Today I observed the technician arrive at my property at 8:32 A.M. and departed at 8:38 - a total of 6 minutes with 1 of those minutes spent knocking on my front door. He went to his truck, extended the hose to the backyard, looked over the fence and returned to his truck.
He retraced the hose and didn't even look at my front or sides of my yard AND LEFT! This made me furious so I went back and reviewed security tapes for past treatments. The technician did not treat my backyard or sides on 07/25 or 06/22 and sparingly sprayed any fertilizer/weed control on my front yard of my lawn both of those visits. He last treated my backyard on 05/11/2016 - the first visit. This probably explains why my yard is no different than when I was treating it myself.
Is this how you do business? If the homeowner is not looking you cut corners? I have the video to prove my dissatisfaction not only from today's service but from services rendered in the past. I guarantee this survey will never be posted on Customer Reviews. However I will be posting it on all my social media blogs to raise awareness. Your company has really disappointed me and I have lost trust in TruGreen. I would rather pay more for good service than save 12.00 and use your company. Services performed by: Store #5050 120 Centrum Drive Irmo, SC 29063. (803) 667-3758.
I called customer service last week to set up an appointment for early morning visit to go over brown spots in my lawn and property line issues. TruGreen guaranteed the accuracy Tech would be out before I went to work. I called customer service and spoke with a supervisor at 1035 AM because the tech was a no show and she said she would call me back. After 2 hours I called them back only to get an excuse of how their routes worked and I should have never been given a guarantee that they would be here early. When I got home the note on the door said the brown spots were from a different type of grass and I should try seeding to crowd out the weeds.
TruGreen isn't that what I hired you to do? I didn't hire you to monitor my grass and report back at the end of the year. I hired you to treat my lawn, get rid of weeds & get rid of the fleas in the yard. Last year - according to your own tech - you were spraying the wrong treatment to get rid of fleas. That was supposedly corrected, but here we are again this year with the same problem. Unacceptable customer service. The tech showed up at 2:45 & left at 2:48 (per the ticket left). What kind of service can be provided in that amount of time?! Terrible!!
My wife decided to hire Tru-Green as a gift to me; hoping to give me a break from having to keep up with all of the various applications throughout the season and in hopes that any problem areas we might have had could be corrected. When we first signed up my wife had requested that the technician servicing our property make it a point to knock on the door so she could meet him and go over our concerns; that never happened. Then we noticed the technician had applied treatments on a day where it rained; a wasted treatment. My wife called to find out what was going to be done about it and was told she had to wait 10 days after the treatment and then call back. Why? Don't you realize your treatment just got washed away and you should make it a point to return?
On one call that my wife made she discovered that the technician had applied one treatment that was supposed to be watered in and another that was not, at the same time. Are you kidding me? There are areas of the lawn that are burned to the point that the area will never recover without removal of the dead grass and re-seeding or sod. Lastly, we were scheduled to have the lawn aerated and overseeded. First appointment had to be canceled due to weather but we were never informed of the new date until we called to inquire. Technician didn't show up for the second appointment; again not call explaining why or informing us of the new date. The latest aeration date was this past Monday 10/17. Technician had not arrived by 4:45pm so my wife called to check on his whereabouts and was informed that we were still on his schedule and he would be there that day. Guess what? He never showed.
When he didn't show the following day my wife called again to complain; a message was left on our machine from Tom stating he had received a message to call her but he was unaware of the service she was inquiring about and that she should call him back. Using the directory on the phone I tried returning Tom's call but the number was Tru-Green's recruiting number... You can leave a message on that number but when you call their number for service issues you cannot. So I called the recruiting number again and left an angry message hoping it would cause someone to call me back the next day.
The following day I hadn't heard from anyone so I called their customer service number during my lunch break. Spoke to a woman who informed me that my new aeration day was 10/29; 12 days after the missed visit. I was not happy about that and told her I wanted to speak to someone. She took my information and assured me that she'd escalate the situation to the area manager and that he'd be contacting me within 24 hrs.
Well 24 hrs pass and no call so I call the customer service line once more. This time I am connected with Tom from the local branch who informed me that he had just spoken to my wife and the aeration has now been scheduled for Monday or Tuesday (10/24 or 10/25). Still not thrilled about the new date and even less thrilled that someone called my home when I distinctly requested that someone contact me on my cell phone because I wanted to speak to someone. I informed Tom that while I appreciate that the aeration has been moved up from the 29th, I would still like to speak to the area manager. Tom took my information once more and told me he would pass it along. I have yet to hear from anyone. The service I have received from this company is horrendous and I would never recommend them to anyone.

I had signed up for lawn service with Scotts in January 2016 since I wanted weed control of my yard. Since I want to minimize trouble of making sure I paid bills every month, I paid $384.75 for the whole year. They did a good job of weed control, but every time they would leave an invoice to pay a certain amount at my door. First three times when I got the invoice, I called them up to ask why am I getting invoices even though I prepaid for whole year. They would check the records and tell me I am good and I can ignore the invoice. My requests to them to stop leaving invoice at my door since it confuses me and cause me additional follow up work, went unheeded. So I told them the third time that I am going to ignore their invoices till end of the year, until I have to renew their services again.
Mid 2016 Scotts was bought over by Trugreen. Later half of 2016 I started getting past due notice and late fees in my invoices. So I called them and explained that I have paid till December 2016. I continued to get past due invoices and phone calls from them and I continued to repeat my explanation each time. Recently they explained to me that my prepay was for lawn services, but my current outstanding amount is for trees and shrubs, and fungicide treatment that they did on my lawn. I had never signed up for it, but my account it seems was showing I have signed up for it. I am very frustrated but I am still trying to explain that I haven't asked for any additional service since the prepay.
Jeremy from TruGreen visited today to aerate and overseed our lawn. I was quite impressed by his thoroughness and professionalism. He is obviously very proud of his responsibilities and goes about his duties in a quiet, yet thorough manner.
TruGreen promises a "Healthy Lawn Analysis" which if followed guarantees your satisfaction. I hired them to help with our yard as I had less and less time to do the work myself. We started out agreeing to an area to be serviced over the phone using Google Maps, they pulled up on my address. After the first few treatments and $1,200 later it became apparent that they were not treating the area we agreed to. Slowly the weeds took over during the summer and then the sod webworms took over and killed a large part of my lawn. Now we are going to have to kill part of our lawn due to the sedges weed that started shortly after their servicing of our yards. Yes I called them to complain but the manager would stop by, look at the yard, when I was not home, and leave me a message denying the existence of webworm moths or a weed problem. TruGreens service is a complete waste of money and time. I wasted mine, Please Do Not Waste Yours.
This company promises guarantee and satisfaction but they don't do that. My husband and I hired them to help our yards even though the front was very close to perfect. However now we are going to have to kill part of our lawn due to a grass weed that started shortly after they started servicing our yards. Also they said they would do an aeration and overseed at the turn of the seasons. Nope they did it in 90 degree weather and only did part of my backyard. They never did courtesy calls so I constantly had to call them back. A waste of money and time.
I contacted Trugreen 6 weeks ago to let them know that what I had asked them to do, such as control my vegetation in the back of my business was not getting done and the weeds were getting to be 6 feet high. They said they would send someone and when they did, it didn't do anything. I had to hire another company to do the work that TruGreen did not do. I also hired Trugreen to control the weeds in the front of my building and the last time they decided to show up, they came when it was raining out and could not have served its purpose and was charged for it all. I would not recommend Trugreen to anyone.
We had new sod put down and installed irrigation in May of this year. In July we decided to give it its best chance and hired TruGreen to take care of it. They promise if you have a problem they will be there in 3 days. We couldn't even get them to show up for the initial visit 3 times. My husband called and cancelled and requested a full refund after the representative begged us to remain.
2-3 weeks later we get a call from a supervisor or manager who promised they would be there when they're supposed to and we stupidly agreed after being offered a big discount. They've been here all of 2 times without ever stopping to speak with us even though we demanded someone come and talk to us about issues we are having with weeds, fungus, insects, etc. As I write this we have wasted an entire day again waiting for TruGreen to show up while our brand new lawn is destroyed by weeds and disease. I can't believe they stay in business if this is how they treat their customers.
TruGreen has maintained our beach house properties for over 20 years. We are seldom there when the services is provided, but we never have worried as these people are true professionals and can be trusted to meet, no exceed their responsibilities. I might add that we have the most well-kept property in the area at that includes the people who live in the area year-round.
I started using this company last year and they did really well. However, something totally changed for 2016. Their service this year has been poor. I have more weeds than ever and now, bare spots, where they killed my grass. My lawn was once lush and now is horrible. When you contact customer service, they just don't respond. What a disappointment. I'd avoid them!
I was approached by a company salesman in the spring. I had been unhappy with a prior service, so I was ready to listen. He sold me on their entire package of services including irrigation. I had been happy with my current company, but he talked me into it. They had a little rough start getting it to work well with my box, but all seemed fine until about a month ago in early August. I noticed that my lawn was turning brown. They had told me there was a mid summer tune up, but they never showed up. It is now too late to save it this year, but I have dropped them to find a smaller, higher rated company. Beware of being approached by large mass produced services, not tailored to your own lawn.
We have been using TruGreen (Scott's combined) for three full years and our lawn is full of weeds. We have spoken with a manager, Dan ** many times over the 3 years regarding our issues. They come to spray and are here for 1-5 minutes (time is shown on the ticket as arrival and departure time). We call and complain and the manager sends someone back numerous times to spray again and again...it is very frustrating. Three years of service and more weeds than we started with. The last note the service tech left us is we have "grassy weeds," which nature will take care of over time, which is FALSE. DO NOT USE TRUGREEN. You will be very disappointed.
I called to sign up for services. I have used Chem lawn in the past. The sales rep told me conversation was recorded. Reviewed services offered. I agreed to a 35 dollar charge for initial service and would be billed when service was completed. Again let rep know what was agreed to prior to hanging up. I had to give a credit card for file he said. This is why I clarified charge before hanging up. Well checked my account that evening it was ok. Checked it the next day and there were 2 transactions - 75 dollars and another for 488 dollars. I called immediately and was told could take up to 24 hours for my money to be returned and it's been over 24 hours. I had to cancel my card and have money to cover the screw up!!!
I had the greenest grass on my block, until I started with TruGreen. They sprayed my yard 1 time and turned my grass brown. I called them several times and they would tell you them manager would definitely contact you, don't believe them cause they don't. Then I started contacting the lying salesman. He told me he will meet with me. So far no show. I had to replace some of my grass hoping it will grow and spread to the others bad spots. STAY AWAY FROM TruGreen. THEY WILL SELL YOU A BAD PROMISE. P.S. I even sent the salesman pictures of the brown grass. That's when he promised to come out, but he didn't.
Using TruGreen has us left being ashamed of our property for the first time in 10 years. Aerated and reseeded our yard last fall and the new grass came in and wintered nicely. After receiving solicitation from Trugreen, we paid ahead for quarterly treatment to protect our investment. After notices of 2 treatments for insect and weeds we noticed that the weed was taking over and our new grass was dying all over. Trugreen finally sent a supervisor out to look at the lawn after 2 months of us constantly calling. Problem is he had it sprayed again and that killed most of the grass on sections of the lawn, leaving one side of our yard looking like a desert. Now they won't return our call and they have our money for the rest of the year.
TruGreen aerated my lawn in August during a heat wave. Despite constant watering it could not be saved. Result I now have a lawn covered with brown dead grass. It looks terrible. I will never use TruGreen ever again. Never let them aerate your lawn. You can thank me later.
I signed up for this service to perfect our already good lawn. The sales representative was very knowledgeable about lawns, unfortunately not knowledgeable about how they do business. I explained that I had had previous bad experiences with other companies doing the same thing and that if they were unable to work the way I needed then it would not be a good fit. I was assured that someone would call me to arrange a time for the aeration and in turn for the treatments. The reason this was important is that the aeration is yearly and needed to be done after the grass was cut to get the full benefit. I was very disappointed to receive a recorded phone call telling me when it would be, which was the same day the lawn guy comes round. I tried to call up, and to add insult to injury, I had to hang up at 12 minutes waiting, as I have a job.
I managed to get back through to the sales departments and demanded to speak to a manager, and after being fobbed off by his associate, I did feel I was getting somewhere. He reassured me that he'd call the branch, cancel the aeration and have them call me to discuss suitable times. He called me back to confirm this. Next morning, no call from the branch, yet the technicians turned up to aerate, and add chemicals to the lawn. This was a complete waste as it was being moved later on. This time I completed a contact form on their website threatening to leave. 24 hours later someone called me. I explained the situation again and was once again assured that remedial action would be taken and that someone from the branch would call me. No call.
The icing on the cake is the letter I've received today tell me that I am on Pay as you go, and that I'll be charged after each service. I have paid a year upfront, nearly $1000. I called up again and after an 8 minute wait, I cancelled my account. I'll only be refunded part of it as this rip-off company will keep the discount I got for prepaying, and for the useless chemicals. The rep on the phone offered me 25% off my remaining services to which I replied, "I don't believe you will ever return calls when you're supposed to which means it would be no use to me completely free." From my 1 week experience of this company, and the time I've spent on the phone trying to get them to do what they said they would, I would most strongly advise against signing up with them. They are faceless at the local level and unaccountable.
I've had this service for a yr and my grass is dying. I have a sprinkler system, the tech said it was due to drought stress to appt peat moss. $220 later grass is still dying. I've asked for my lawn to be retreated for fungus twice and the main office said the notes said I was complaining about weeds when I called today. Poor communication on their part. I am still waiting to speak with a supervisor. I will begin shopping for a better service today, maybe Green Solutions.
I paid for a one year subscription last September and I am getting a bill for service in July. I called and had to beg for my money back since they decided to do double services per month and finish it early. I called to cancel them almost 2 months ago and they are still harassing me 4 times a day with blank voicemails. I have asked to be removed from their calling list twice now and still getting multiple calls per day! I hate them for everything they are worth and lied to me on several situations during service with them as well. If there were zero or negative stars, I would give it all day!!
Very pleased, my lawn man is great.
I have prepaid to TruGreen for lawn service 2016 and the results are disaster: Weeds are all over the lawn. The whole lawn has many dead grass patches large and small - obviously the technician is not applying the chemical uniformly and some areas did not get it, and others getting too much so the grass got killed. We are trying to get the service manager on the site who never did show up. The last technician finally agree to meet us since we insisted to meet them so we can show the problem. The technician had agreed that they did not do the job from the day one: No weeds control done and that is why all kinds of the weeds grow perfectly in my lawn.
Now my whole lawn is destroyed with half dead of grasses killed by the chemicals and another half is full of the different kinds of weeds. I have taken many pictures today (Aug. 28, 2016) but could not attached here because of the size of the pictures. If there is any way to post them, I will do that. Those pictures are stored in a safe place since I will needed as evidences.
I signed up for the service and paid nearly $600 upfront. After nearly 5 months of service, my lawn is still covered in weeds and is brown in color. I've contacted them multiple times about the issues as they have a "guarantee" for their service. A manager came out last week and stated that it was an easy fix. The lawn needed nitrogen. I received the general electronic call that a lawn care specialist would be here Tuesday for treatment. I was here all day and they never showed up. This has happened multiple times over the course of the treatment. When a technician does show up for an appointment, they leave a flag in the front yard and a followup email. I received neither. I contacted TruGreen and the agents (who are always friendly) said the technician left a note that the service was completed. In my opinion, this service is a fraud.
I am sharing my experience because I feel integrity is just as important as customer service. I experienced what I suspected on a prior yard application, the work was never done, the reason I say this is because no flags were put in the lawn indicating the specialist had completed the applications and no bell was rung. I also experienced a similar incident recently. I had called a few days earlier to inform TruGreen that although I did not see any sign of crabgrass in my lawn which was good, but I could clearly see crabgrass along the borders of both my front and back lawn. The Customer Rep indicated they would notate my account as such and send someone out to redo the application on the next visit which was yesterday.
Well, I was home on that next visit, cooking breakfast looking out my kitchen window with the backdoor slightly opened, I noticed a specialist coming from my backyard on the far south side of my property by the garage with nothing in his hands, which indicated to me he wasn't applying anything. He didn't put a sign in the backyard, nor was the work done because I would have clearly noticed him on my property working during that time. Another reason he was suspect of not doing the job is that it was raining. I immediately went to the front door to talk with him but before I could get the door unlock he jumped in his truck and drove off.
I finally made contact with customer service and they informed me the specialist would give me a call, well that call never came. I also asked the customer representative "do Specialist apply applications in the rain?" Her response was, "not for weeds" but on his work slip he indicated he treated my lawn for broadleaf weeds and applied fertilizer to thicken the lawn. He placed a sign in my front yard near where his truck was parked. This is the second incident for me which I did not get the service. My time is valuable, so if I have to keep calling you back out to do what should have been done, that's a clear indication to me someone else should be doing the job.
I had TruGreen and cancelled it a couple of years back due to how bad their service is. A new manager named Tarra called me and somehow convinced me to resign a contract which I highly regret. Since day one every visit has been a lie or they overkill everything including my lawn. I finally had enough and cancelled it again for good. If you're thinking about giving them a try think twice. Their "technicians" are a bunch of cheaters who don't do anything or overdo it. They have ruin my lawn over and over again. These pics were taken today after the last guy service it. I cancelled my plan and they said they will not fixed what they did.
I think as a business person myself that I should not expect payment for service that I did not deliver. This not the case for TruGreen Lawn Care. Each time they said they fertilized my lawn the following week there would be more weeds on my lawn than any other neighbour - this is really odd because my lawn was always one of the 'best kept' in the neighbourhood. I called the company several times to complain - they would always come when no one is there - and leave another bill. It was clear to me that they were not doing anything, just leaving a sign and a bill.
The neighbours began asking what was going on with my lawn - when I told them I had hired a company to take care of it - they laughed. OMG - what a mess! This company has no integrity and what they are doing truly amounts to fraud. They have sent me a demand letter requesting I pay $248.89. I told them I have no problem paying - just need them to deliver they service they promised. See the pictures taken just 2 days ago, mine and my neighbours
Customer since 2006 and I am not sure why. Half of front lawn dies yearly and first they say brown patch. When I call back because more dies they are chinch bugs and finally when more grass is gone I am told they are grubs. GET IT RIGHT. I looked back at all services, since you can do this now online, and this happened yearly! Even lost a tree due to pests they are supposed to prevent. Downloaded Scott's "My Lawn" app today and will use that. My neighbors do not use TruGreen and have NO issues. I am the one paying over $1200 yearly and have the worst grass??!!
I had hoped to take the burden off and have someone come in and take over the lawn care for weeds and such in our yard and get that off our plate. BIG MISTAKE! I actually just got a letter from our HOA about our yard looking so bad and never got that when I was tending to it myself. I'm paying someone to treat it and I get in trouble with our HOA over weeds and brown patches... That's just not right! I did a better job myself and it was a whole lot cheaper. My husband did call and they said someone would be out and someone did come out but just did the exact same thing they always do or say they do, treat for chinch bugs. They have said that the past three times out and the grass just keeps dying. They also say we need to water, my yard is water logged from all the rain we've been having! Guess it's back to do it yourself.
