I signed up for the service and paid nearly $600 upfront. After nearly 5 months of service, my lawn is still covered in weeds and is brown in color. I've contacted them multiple times about the issues as they have a "guarantee" for their service. A manager came out last week and stated that it was an easy fix. The lawn needed nitrogen. I received the general electronic call that a lawn care specialist would be here Tuesday for treatment. I was here all day and they never showed up. This has happened multiple times over the course of the treatment. When a technician does show up for an appointment, they leave a flag in the front yard and a followup email. I received neither. I contacted TruGreen and the agents (who are always friendly) said the technician left a note that the service was completed. In my opinion, this service is a fraud.

I am sharing my experience because I feel integrity is just as important as customer service. I experienced what I suspected on a prior yard application, the work was never done, the reason I say this is because no flags were put in the lawn indicating the specialist had completed the applications and no bell was rung. I also experienced a similar incident recently. I had called a few days earlier to inform TruGreen that although I did not see any sign of crabgrass in my lawn which was good, but I could clearly see crabgrass along the borders of both my front and back lawn. The Customer Rep indicated they would notate my account as such and send someone out to redo the application on the next visit which was yesterday.
Well, I was home on that next visit, cooking breakfast looking out my kitchen window with the backdoor slightly opened, I noticed a specialist coming from my backyard on the far south side of my property by the garage with nothing in his hands, which indicated to me he wasn't applying anything. He didn't put a sign in the backyard, nor was the work done because I would have clearly noticed him on my property working during that time. Another reason he was suspect of not doing the job is that it was raining. I immediately went to the front door to talk with him but before I could get the door unlock he jumped in his truck and drove off.
I finally made contact with customer service and they informed me the specialist would give me a call, well that call never came. I also asked the customer representative "do Specialist apply applications in the rain?" Her response was, "not for weeds" but on his work slip he indicated he treated my lawn for broadleaf weeds and applied fertilizer to thicken the lawn. He placed a sign in my front yard near where his truck was parked. This is the second incident for me which I did not get the service. My time is valuable, so if I have to keep calling you back out to do what should have been done, that's a clear indication to me someone else should be doing the job.

I had TruGreen and cancelled it a couple of years back due to how bad their service is. A new manager named Tarra called me and somehow convinced me to resign a contract which I highly regret. Since day one every visit has been a lie or they overkill everything including my lawn. I finally had enough and cancelled it again for good. If you're thinking about giving them a try think twice. Their "technicians" are a bunch of cheaters who don't do anything or overdo it. They have ruin my lawn over and over again. These pics were taken today after the last guy service it. I cancelled my plan and they said they will not fixed what they did.

I think as a business person myself that I should not expect payment for service that I did not deliver. This not the case for TruGreen Lawn Care. Each time they said they fertilized my lawn the following week there would be more weeds on my lawn than any other neighbour - this is really odd because my lawn was always one of the 'best kept' in the neighbourhood. I called the company several times to complain - they would always come when no one is there - and leave another bill. It was clear to me that they were not doing anything, just leaving a sign and a bill.
The neighbours began asking what was going on with my lawn - when I told them I had hired a company to take care of it - they laughed. OMG - what a mess! This company has no integrity and what they are doing truly amounts to fraud. They have sent me a demand letter requesting I pay $248.89. I told them I have no problem paying - just need them to deliver they service they promised. See the pictures taken just 2 days ago, mine and my neighbours

Customer since 2006 and I am not sure why. Half of front lawn dies yearly and first they say brown patch. When I call back because more dies they are chinch bugs and finally when more grass is gone I am told they are grubs. GET IT RIGHT. I looked back at all services, since you can do this now online, and this happened yearly! Even lost a tree due to pests they are supposed to prevent. Downloaded Scott's "My Lawn" app today and will use that. My neighbors do not use TruGreen and have NO issues. I am the one paying over $1200 yearly and have the worst grass??!!

I had hoped to take the burden off and have someone come in and take over the lawn care for weeds and such in our yard and get that off our plate. BIG MISTAKE! I actually just got a letter from our HOA about our yard looking so bad and never got that when I was tending to it myself. I'm paying someone to treat it and I get in trouble with our HOA over weeds and brown patches... That's just not right! I did a better job myself and it was a whole lot cheaper. My husband did call and they said someone would be out and someone did come out but just did the exact same thing they always do or say they do, treat for chinch bugs. They have said that the past three times out and the grass just keeps dying. They also say we need to water, my yard is water logged from all the rain we've been having! Guess it's back to do it yourself.

I do not believe I should have to complain about the quality of service I receive when the quality of service/results of service are clearly visible to the technicians. Clearly if the technician fails to do their job and address the issues then the management of the company has failed to train its associates properly.

We are a Senior couple who now have the lushest lawn of our lives. Although yard cutting is provided by the HOA, our weeds and bare spots from long-term renters had to be fixed. Now, green, weedless, carefree and gated lane HOA is appreciative that our neighborhood looks immaculate. We are so glad we chose the very small investment that has made all the difference.

First time TruGreen came, a strong chemical was used in the driveways which eliminated all of the weeds. Monthly applications afterwards, weaker chemicals were used and chemicals were only used on detected weeds. When I complained, TruGreen Representative responded if we paid more money, they could use a stronger chemical. I paid for a six month service in advance. I was never told that if I wanted total control of weeds, I would have to pay extra. Representative was not cordial to me. Very disappointed in the service I have received.

We subscribe to TruGreen on a case to case basis... means to us... we pay as a service or treatment is applied. We have very unfortunate experience every time they applied, so far about five times. We only saw the supposed "specialist" once. Their receipts always says: "I knocked on your door today, sorry I missed you." We have a door bell and we always try to see who is coming. One time we heard a bell, but before we can see the guy, he was already done without seeing him and even observed what he was doing. We wanted to show him some concern on weed control that was not effective but how, when we cannot talk to the guy? We called his office and thankfully came back. But he was mad, and told us he has 200+ customer and he don't have time to hear any complains.
Let me just say, that he gave us a discriminating looks, as if he was marking us ** you. I really don't know his name but we have all the receipts and names on those " Specialist". On the last application, 8/12/16, Friday, this is our narrative: TruGreen's specialist again, applied a treatment, without alerting us they were going to do some treatment. Same note "I knocked on your door, Sorry I missed you". It was important for us to see him because we have some issues we need him to know. (By the way I was at home all day and have not hear any sound of my door bell.) My lawn was not cut, 5-6" tall, because the weather on this week (8/7/2016 was extremely hot, 90°F +). The temperature on this day was 89-90°F, with winds 10-18 mph. The receipt was not factual, temp., 76°F, wind: 6 mph. Do you really apply fertilizers on a very hot day and tall grass?
There are areas of my lawn where weed has propagated, and areas that appeared to have not been applied any fertilizer (section of lawn adjoining the retention area). We have emphasized this in the beginning as a part of our lawn, and was understood then. If only the Specialist has the courtesy to see us and aware of the issues, if he is really an "specialist" which I doubt, then we could have said a selected a good outfit to say the least. Your leaflets says "certified lawn specialist and has just performed a tailored service". This seems to be a hollow promise. To be specific, my service is done from this address: TruGreen, Naperville, IL., 14405 Route 59, Plainfield, Il. 60544, (815) 439-0469. Specialist info: can be had by your office if you are serious with your business!

Yard was over treated with chemicals - dead grass in the pattern of spraying! Called TruGreen office - get a call center - no response after three days. Drove to local TruGreen office in Savage, MN with digital photos of the yard. No managers just a customer service gal - poor thing has to deal with customers.

I spent the beginning of the week pulling weeds and trying to straighten out my yard with my son. After spending a week out of town, it is impressive what can grown in that time. With amazing timing Bill from Truegreen showed up yesterday 6/8/16 and asked to talk about my lawn care needs. What perfect timing that Bill had. Since I was busy with dinner and my honey-do list, I asked him if tomorrow would work. He suggested 1pm and I agreed. I used this site to find out more about Trugreen. I noticed the biggest complaint was the lack of follow through or doing what they say they will.
Today, 1pm passes and yet no Bill. At 4pm when I'm in the middle of a conference call, he finally shows up. No apology, no explanation, he just wants to get to business and probably move on. Talk about disrespectful and rude. No consideration for my time or respect for me as a potential customer. I have to fight with my 12 year old now and again over respect and follow-up. Since I am not responsible for or raising Bill I would not expect I should have to help teach him about respect and responsibility. I then explain to him why I am no longer interested as it seems in Yankton, SD the status quo for customer relations has not improved beyond what is listed in this website. I suppose I will look for another care provider and stop by my local Ace Hardware and ask for their advice and consider doing it myself. It is unfortunate as this was almost a guaranteed sale for him after the start of the week I had.

I purchased a year round package; TruGreen said they treated the lawn twice for weeds but did not manage to kill even a single one, so I canceled my account --the manager was supposed to call me but failed to do so and they charged me over $100 for the two visits. Do not use this company!

True Green should be True Brown and weeds. First of all no one from TruGreen comes out and inspects your Lawn to give a customized plan for your lawn. They also treat an entire lawn in about the span of 4 minutes. I continued to have weeds. On my fifth application I come home and see the same guy who always treated my lawn spraying my neighbor's lawn. I thought maybe my neighbors purchased the service and walked over to ask the technician if he was spraying mine next. He realized at that minute he was spraying the wrong lawn. Without finishing my neighbor's lawn he stopped immediately and started spraying mine leaving my neighbors half treated. He took around 3 minutes on my lawn.
The next day I came home and noticed 2 very large dead areas of grasses and 5 small areas of dead grass. I mean completely DEAD. I have called numerous times and am always told someone will come out and take care of the dead grass. It has been 14 days since they killed my grass and left many spots very brown and not a single person has come to resolve my problem. I have cancelled TruGreen and would not recommend them to ANYONE!!!

TruGreen representatives Kimberly **, one "Dale", and a rather adamant and fearless Ashley (Employee Badge **) apparently believes that unless a customer has a fence, locked doors, and "no trespass" signs on their property any TruGreen representative can enter the premises, inspect and clip shrubs, and perform any "Upselling" marketing strategies at their whim; this after we expressed that TruGreen marketers and lawn care people were showing up without prior notice, without any prior phone calls, etc. One guy showed up in the neighborhood repeatedly pushing his marketing ploys in an extravagant Mercedes Benz, despite our telling him we were not interested.
Another guy called up, without TruGreen notifying us beforehand, and was wandering the premises early in the morning, instilling horrid fear in both spouse and child. Apparently, too much money, time, and overconfidence from a rogue Organization and its employees. Sorry TruGreen and above named representatives but you're the stars of a Housing Development restraining order to prevent you from harassing innocent families and children with your wanton prostitution of the Law by trespassing and giving legal advice without proper authority and license.

Trugreen reps from Riverside set realistic expectations and the techs have done an excellent job of weed control as well as insect and disease control for my trees. We are in a drought and they deal with it effectively. This company provides excellent service.

I signed up for TruGreen with a gentlemen named Sergio. He told me to personally contact him with any issues I was having. I told them to use my west gate as I had dogs and keep the east locked. The first time they came out, they left a note stating "gates are both locked. Can't service". The next time they came out, the guy left my gate wide open and my dogs all got loose. I then noticed that they hadn't sprayed my boulevard so emailed customer service and after a week never received any call or email. I then emailed them again and stated that I would be cancelling their service since they can't even respond to a simple email.
To my surprise, when I called them they had kindly already cancelled my service without a call or email. Now I'm trying to get all my money back. Keep in mind, this was after one month of service. Ridiculous. Should be bankrupt with this horrible customer service. I also tried to reach Sergio and he never contacted me, apologized, or called back.

Had to apologize to my neighbors for the pathetic service done on my yard from TruGreen/Scott's lawn care. I urge No one use them as they have slowly killed my yard, "ghost serviced" my yard putting the flag in the yard and bill on the door but never servicing the yard - camera footage proving this. I am in the midst of getting it looking lively again with another company and getting my REFUND! Negative reviews on any and every site I can as well as my hundreds of dollars needing to be refunded. Lawyer in the works and complaint to Better Business Bureau. Have a good weekend all.

I switched to this company this year. Had one tree spray service (that was fine) and a lawn service. I was told the moss control would not bother my dog who I explained is sensitive to chemicals. They do not seem to understand that dogs don't just tip toe thru the grass. He ingested some and became ill. I had asked a lot of questions first and assumed they understand pets if they are making such claims instead of telling you the products used (yeah try to get that information!). So I discontinued moss control from them and mid-summer asked them to fertilize and weed control the lawn which I specifically asked them to do while I was on vacation and the dog off site for a week. The weed control seemed to grow the weeds to hardier versions of their former selves. Only one patch showed any sign of treatment after 2 weeks.
I called and they said they could retreat because the weeds really don't respond much to the weed control and require several applications. Again, good to know BEFORE they run up a bill esp given that they cannot just keep putting chemicals on my lawn due to the dog (well, and me). A tech called to say he was coming out Friday and I again said I have to do this when the dog is off site so not to come out. Then another tech comes out Tuesday -- the very next day from the last conversation with the office about NOT coming out and with a flag on my account that says to always call first -- no call. He does not knock to let me know he is in the yard (I have a LOT of windows and it is early morning).
He sprays a lawn that had just been watered so it is NOT going to absorb into the grass quickly like they say if it adheres at all, and not knowing they were here, I let the dog out and in the morning he ALWAYS rolls on the lawn and scoops up rabbit droppings from in the grass. So now he smells like the chemicals and has been licking his paws to get it off and has ingested the stuff so I have to take him for a bath. I cannot open my windows while the air is cool (heatwave here) because the smell comes into the house. My complaint was referred to the manager who has not called back. Also the fertilizer apparently is granular, not foliar, and requires watering in to work. I just did that (big yard, don't water the lawn a lot in summer). Again, good to know BEFORE so you can make informed decisions and protect your pets. I live near a lake and told these guys that I was not going to subscribe to a frequent service to protect the watershed.
They just do whatever they want and send a bill. Communication within the company is terrible and too many people are involved in service to a customer. DONE with it. The EPA should be paying attention to this outfit. This business model needs a lot of work. While I understand human error can occur, this was serial human error. And they are dealing with toxic chemicals, not bubble blower! Fail-safe is a great strategy.

Tech submitted worksheets posted to my account showing service - was never here. You can't treat a lawn our size in 3 minutes or to put down the 3 different products he listed on sheet. Tech did not ring doorbell, leave sign in yard or statement on door because HE WAS NEVER HERE! I work from home so can see anyone who is here. This was reported but no one did anything about it. Second billing was submitted for a time when treatment would have had to occur during a driving rainstorm with lightning. Same thing - no statement, etc because NEVER HERE.
Now have called after this second time to complain and it took 2 calls and request to speak to a district manager. He come out and was appalled over the impact this tech has had on their company image. He took one look at the yard and agreed the tech was NEVER here or there is no way the yard would look like its condition if he had been. Reported a full investigation into work of tech is underway and may probably not the only person he did this to. Will see now if the resolution plan really happens. If so, I will update the rating to reflect this. Bottom line I am glad I work from home or I might never have known. The local branch had no idea what this tech was doing (or in case not doing).

I've been a TruGreen customer since 2008. This afternoon I received a letter from their "in-house" collection agency requesting $106.46 for past due lawn service. I called customer service and spoke to Eric. He politely explained that since I set up a service plan it's my obligation to cancel before the next season starts. If the customer doesn't call they come out and start fertilizing whether you want it or not. He compared it to DIRECTV. If you don't cancel they keep billing you. Well, I get how DIRECTV can get away with it - people watch TV every day. But seasonal lawn service? He told me that the policy was explained on their bills and in their welcome letter that apparently comes out in February - who the ** reads that?
To me, it seems that the business (TruGreen) should either get a signed contract (offer incentives) or reach out to their customers and renew the relationship each season. A simple text like... "Do you wish to renew TruGreen lawn service? Yes/no?" ...would be sufficient. There's quite a few competitors working our neighborhood now. So, don't just assume I want you guys back. I paid my bill today and made sure they understood that I no longer wanted their service. I don't agree with the way TruGreen does business. It seems cold and pushy. I'll be choosing a customer friendly, ethical, lawn service.

I arranged for lawn service and grass plugs but was also billed for tree and shrub which I did not order. After several calls to the local TRUGREEN office and the national headquarters, I was unable to get their mistake rectified. So I cancelled the service. No one from TRUGREEN tried to block my decision or prevented me from receiving a refund; actually a credit to the VISA card I'd originally used to pay.
In retrospect I should have stayed with TRUGREEN because the price I was initially quoted for lawn, plugs, and tree and shrub was about half what I'm now paying for just front yard lawn service. The one application of fertilizer and insecticide TRUGREEN provided before my cancellation was done carefully and thoroughly by a technician who was working in 100 degree heat and 90 percent humidity. His truck was spotless inside and out. I hope my account here offers others the resistance to calm down when trying to resolve a problem and not later regret taking a stupid step like me in cancelling.

I used this company for last 4 years. 1st year was amazing. After 1st year the service went downhill. Today my lawn looks like a junk yard, and TruGreen is blaming me for not keeping up. I paid the $3000 for my lawn but I believe they are nothing but scam. I won't even pay them $1 to take care of my lawn. If can stay away from these people. Also they will double bill you as well.

On July 7, 2016, I called TruGreen headquarters to request a cancellation of lawn care services. After 5 months of treatment my lawn had not improved. My weeds were green and healthy and, in fact, was the only part of the lawn that did look green. I explained that their weed and feed program was not resulting in fewer weeds as promised and that I saw no point in continuing doing the same thing. They wanted to send a supervisor out to evaluate my lawn. I had already waited around a whole day for just such a person who was suppose to come out. He never showed, called, or called to re-schedule. So I told her no, I wasn't waiting around another whole day for a no show.
Then she wanted to give me some discounts if I would continue. I told her that the discounts would not make the situation with my lawn any different. After it was clear that I wanted to discontinue from that date, she assured me there would be no further charges and that she was notifying the technician as we spoke. The next Monday, the technician called wanting to come out for the monthly service. I told him that I had cancelled the service and he said he did not know that. The following Friday, he came out anyway and treated the lawn (so he said--I can't verify it for sure, but he left his ticket). So don't go with TruGreen, they can't take no for an answer and try to ignore your directives. I am so very disappointed with this business' results and their business practices!

TRUGREEN BAD Promotion!!! 5/4/16 1st application Weed and Feed. 5/18/16 called as no dandelions had died yet and the clover has become more widespread. 6/14/16 TruGreen came to re-service as nothing happened from the first application. 7/5/16 Called back again as the weeds have become bigger not smaller. I was told a manager would come out and check my lawn personally. 7/5/16 Called back again as no one had come out yet. 7/11/16 Called back again as no one had contacted me. Not sure what they are pulling, but, fearful that per internet logs, they are watering down the applications of the "one application" clients to get multiple applications service payment out of them. Agent said she would escalate to General Manager Carl **. 7/13/16 Manager Lisa ** (very rude) said they will not come out again as I am a "one application" customer, (imagine that). Said she would escalate to manager Carl **.
7/13/16 Sent email to web site suggested by company homepage. No RESPONSE. 7/14/16 Called back again to speak with Carl ** and he was out to lunch. 7/14/16 1:00PM Carl came to my door and said these weeds were new. And they would not come out again as I was a one application client and it would take several visits to kill these weeds. This is the 13th year with TruGreen and until this point in have had no problem with one application working. This time two applications did not do anything and they now say it will take several application at $50+ per to kill all the weeds. This company wants to lose my business because they want multiple visits at a greater price. The BBB needs to look into their operations as it is watering down their chemicals to get you to put in 5 applications per year. TRUGREEN is not a company to do business with. I am willing to speak to any on who wants to hear this horror story.

It's not everyday a women gets married to the man of her dreams. Now the dream of getting married at home is shattered, thanks to the poor quality of work performed by TruGreen. If you love your lawn like I do, do not take a chance on a company that doesn't care about their customers. I do plan on filing a small claims against this pitiful organization.

BEWARE! I paid in advance to have weed control for my lawn. The weed application was done on 06-29-16. I called TRUGREEN on 07-07-16 to advise that weeds were not affected but instead thriving. I was promised that TRUGREEN would reapply weed control on 07-08-16. No one showed up and it is now 07-11-16. Also no one called or made any contact. I took photos of the weeds to the TRUGREEN office in Waukesha. No one called and the office staff seemed uninterested in my dilemma. BEWARE!

If you are considering hiring TruGreen for your lawn care provider, DON'T. I had a beautiful lawn until TruGreen was hired. Their customer service is terrible. Phone calls not returned, bills for services that were never rendered. When you are finally able to talk to a TruGreen "professional" you get lies and promises that are never kept. Hiring TruGreen to take care of my lawn was one of the biggest and most frustrating mistakes I have ever made. DO NOT LET TRUGREEN DESTROY YOUR LAWN!!!

If I could give TruGreen a rating it would be -10. Have been very dissatisfied with their service. Our yard has never looked as bad as it does now. The serviceman for the yard has been very condescending and treats us like we're idiots. My husband has been taking care of our yard for 25 years and has always looked beautiful. Because of our age we decided to try TruGreen. Big mistake!!! They're overpriced and don't accomplish what they promise! Don't waste your money!!

On 6/22/16 Trugreen employee Ronald ** came to my home to perform a service for weed control and fertilization. Being skeptical of his quality of work based off my previous experiences with him, I watched him from the time he arrived til the time he left. The employee never treated my home for weeds. He left the ticket summarizing his work which stated that he had. Essentially, Ronald is an unethical liar.
I contacted Trugreen and requested the service manager call me. He did the next day and I requested a new technician. He stated he couldn't send a different technician but a manager could service my home to which I agreed. On 6/28 Trugreen called to say they would be out the following day, the 29th. They never showed. I called them once again and stated someone needed to fix the issue and fix it fast or just cancel my service. I was told I would be contacted by someone the next day to resolve this, no one called.
I have had Trugreen service for multiple years at multiple addresses. It has been one thing after another with them. The treatments work, however it is their service that is absolutely terrible. The technicians are lazy, do a half ass job, and in this case are flat out liars. Their managers also seem to have a total disregard for their customers satisfaction. I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau tomorrow since I was charged for a service, over $100, which I never received. I will also be canceling my service completely. I strongly encourage anyone considering doing with business with Trugreen to reconsider and find a company who values their customers.
UPDATED ON 07/12/2016: After 1 technician lying about the services he provided, 2 follow up no shows, and 2 broken promises by service managers, I decided to cancel my TruGreen service. I was told the money I had been charged, over $100, would be refunded and if I stayed, my next service would be free. I agreed. After a few days, I called back to check on the status of the refund. Conveniently, it had not been processed nor noted. I requested they listen to the recording of the phone call. They are supposed to get back with me within 24 hours. I've heard that before. In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the weeds you expect to flourish in your yard while having Trugreen service.

Do not pay by check, bank transfer ACH payment. Only credit card. Avoid frustration when you will get your continual monthly payment refund by disputing the charge on your credit card. Killed trees with tree service. Refuse to refund prepaid annual service after only two treatments which damaged my trees and grass. Most importantly I can only read a national conglomerate support line. There is no way to communicate with the Sterling office where their charming salesperson did an excellent of performing the TruGreen sales pitch.
I just wrote a long complaint and it was lost by my clumsy accidental clicking of the back arrow. I'm now trying to rewrite my story of frustration. I wasted my time with constructive suggestions not criticism of how I've been deceived. All I wanted to do was cancel one or two services. As a consequence of their crack training, I asked the third supervisor to cancel all my services and subtract what they think I owe for the service. And refund the remaining pro rata. I was told that they could not promise to do that. She could not even provide her last name (assuming she knows it) nor her employee number. I might be forgiven for thinking that she was trying to remain anonymous in the case of non-positive feedback. What's honest is their name... they are TRUE to their interest in GREEN.

Our services are warranted by our guarantee, so we would have liked the opportunity to regain your trust in our organization. We respect your decision to terminate your account, and you most certainly would be refunded the remainder of your unused credits after paying in advance. After reviewing your account, I see that you requested a full refund for your entire prepayment. The notes documented show that we advised you we do not have a money-back guarantee and were unable to approve a refund on services already completed. Once they did my lawn service on Jun 6, 2016 They messed up all my lawn and even outer street with fertilizer and they left without cleaning. There was a lot of fertilizer over some area of my lawn grass. Next day after raining, some fertilizer that was covered my lawn grass was permeated and that area's grass was all damaged. Not only service mistake but their customer service was even worse since first time I call them to fix this problem they said they will send somebody soon but no one came... Second time, after all day waiting they said they came but never knock my door so I don't know what they did and problem remained unchanged. And yesterday they promised their manager will call me and I waited all day long and nobody call me yesterday. I live in Duluth-Atlanta, GA. I don't know other city or states but NEVER let this company to do your lawn work. I am attached my grass damaged by this company.

Memphis, TN: On top of other issues (4 severely damaged trees and plants), it has been confirmed that a 'make-up visit' a week after they say they did service (again, with proof they didn't) the man walks into the backyard, nothing in hand, turns around and leaves... 15 minutes later with NOTHING done. To add insult to injury, after having another contractor give an estimate, it says 1/2 the yard wasn't even touched based on the amount of weeds that clearly divided the property's growth. They are a waste of money at $72, coming every 3-4 weeks doing NOTHING as opposed to when we signed up at 6-7 weeks, which makes it cost us more money per year. STAY AWAY FROM TRUGREEN. By the way, Scotts Lawn was purchased by TruGreen. Best to hire someone local.

They try and sell you on a personalized experience but nothing could be further from the truth. I never had any consultation on my yard other than on the phone with a corporate guy in another state. To make things even worse the "Technician" cannot be trusted to treat both the front and back yard. This happened early on where they treated my front yard and not the back but said they did. I was home to witness the first shenanigan. I called their main number and they convinced me to give them a second chance so I did. That lasted 2 treatments... I get home today and can easily see the granulated treatment done in the front yard but alas not a single grain in the back yard. I will say their products do work but that is not the issue. I simply cannot do business with a company I don't trust. If this technician is willing to lie about the work he does, what else is at risk in my yard and house?

We have been a customer for the last year with TruGreen and up until 16 June 2016 they have done an excellent job. After my last treatment on June 15th, we developed brownish stripes (9) in the front yard where they ran the applicator machine. You could see the tracks of the applicator and between the tire tracks, the grass turned brown. The rest of the yard was fine, except for the nine tracks.
After getting into a heated discussion with the local manager they agreed to send over their "expert" to look at my problem. He came by stuck a tool in the ground to take soil samples and said I have a quote "very rare grass blight". Now this blight appears to be so rare it only appears in the tracks of their machine and where the tracks cross over each other, the grass is damn near dead. But they promise it was not their fault and we just have to wait and see when it rains if the grass turns green again. I have had people try to sell me a bill of goods before but these people are pros at it. Paid for the whole year in advance, so trust me I may be in for a fight to get my remaining money back. Going to contact a friend at Iowa State AG department to drop by and give me his opinion of this extremely rare grass blight.

TruGreen finally delivered on the lawn aeration about two weeks ago. I have had several discussions with various levels of management at TruGreen - all have been positive since I contacted the CEO of the company. My lawn does look better than it has in a long time. I'm taking a wait and see attitude with them right now. They have given me cell phone numbers of the local manager and the regional Manager should I need to call someone about the failure to deliver on what was promised. All the technicians who visited my house when I was home they were very nice and did what they said they were going to do.

Earlier in 2016, February (I think), I paid for a lawn aeration from TruGreen. I have called them 11 times to ask about the service and when they were going to perform it. I keep getting promises of service but it has not happened to date. The most recent call back to me came from John, the GM of the Charleston office who promised me the service would be delivered last Friday or today, June 18. It has not happened. Any new customer would be wise to check all the rating services for their area to see what TruGreen is rated. You may be surprised at how low their service is rated. Frankly I would rate their service 0 right now.

I would not recommend TruGreen Service at all. I have had four delays as well as an application which was only done partially. It has taken me 10 phone calls to ask when it will actually happen. Customer Service has been great but the field office in this area has been awful. I have asked to have it done on a specific day due to my schedule, customer service has tried to make this happen but have not been successful. This is the second time I have tried to use them and this is the 2nd time I have been dissatisfied. I will never go back to them. THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE...

I purchased a summer lawn care package from TruGreen to control my weeds and dandelions, as well as to fertilize and enhance my lawn. I could not complete the work this summer due to a healing repaired broken shoulder. Each time TruGreen completed an application, the lawn seemed to burn. At first I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. I spoke to one of the techs to make sure I didn't need to immediately water after an application and found I was to do nothing after an application.
After the third application and further burn, I contacted the company twice through email four days apart, but heard nothing back. This last application severely burned both front and back lawns. I emailed the company requesting someone call me. No one called. I called the company to express my disgruntledness and dissatisfaction. I took photos of both yards at 10 am, before the heat of the day sat in. These are the photos of the lawn the day after a fertilizer application. The customer service representative on the phone assured me someone would call me within the hour. This person would be a supervisor and would set an appointment to walk my yard with me. Almost 4 hours later, no one has called.
With the 90F heat we are having, I am unsure whether I can reverse the burn. I am disappointed at spending close to $300 and my lawn burning up. I am even more disappointed that I emailed three times and had to call the fourth. This company readily took my money, and even had a deadline for payment, but has no one available to help control the damage done.

Signed up for the annual irrigation service (4 quarterly visits) with the understanding that two wires would be traced and hooked up to valves currently disconnected, and 3 of my 6 valves would be located. I also had one zone w/ low pressure. After each of the first 2 visits, the tech offered other solutions to hooking up the disconnected two zones (adding a separate battery powered timer and adjusting other zones to spray shrubs which resulted in lawn getting insufficient water). Finally, on third visit, he brought the wire tracer but was unable to trace the specific wires, and claimed they are not in the ground (I can see that they exit the garage and go into the ground outside).
The final visit I was not home, but we had a known broken head, so the tech explained he would fix the head, then come back to run the system when he could access the timer box in the garage. I was charged for two visits, contacted billing, and the manager regarding the issue, and they wouldn't remove the second charge. Spent over $400 for a few sprinkler heads, and excuses why what was promised could not be delivered.

If you're in the Hudson Valley and want to use TruGreen lawn or shrub care you in for the worst service in America. There has been problem after problem and management does not care. I cannot get a manager to call me. They have been on the phone for hours trying to get support. No one deserves to be treated so unprofessionally.

We had contracted them to do 7 applications to our lawn this year and paid in full. They came and did one application on April 16th and have not been back since. Every time we call they tell us we are on the list for later that week and have changed the date 5 times. And still it is not done. We called to cancel. Now they can have somebody out today. Yeah too late. Yet 3 neighbors' lawns were done in last 3 weeks. They could not come across the street to do ours.

I wish I could remember the name of my lawn care specialist - he deserves to be singled out. He's always polite, professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I usually greet him in the yard with a couple questions - like what kind of grass is this part? Asked, so that I know what kind of grass seed to buy for a couple bald spots. He always knows the answer. He always tells me what service he is providing on that visit. He will caution me if he's put something down that needs to be avoided by my dog for 24 hours. Called and they don't guarantee their service until 4 services. Roundup kills weeds in one app but yet theirs doesn't?! They suck! Don't use them! I'm mad after $125.00.

I left TruGreen several years ago and went with another company. Big Mistake. Their "specialist" appeared to just go through the motions spreading whatever and when asked a question just shrugged and said it was best to call the office. I remembered your technician Mr. John ** (hopefully spelled correctly) and here I am back again with TruGreen. John has been and is today my technician and is more than qualified in the application as well as the presentation of the various services TruGreen offers. I am a retired engineer/supervisor for the General Electric Company and if he reported to me, I would promote, or create a position, for him to personally interact with TruGreen customers and get him off the truck where he could hands-on supervise your various technicians throughout your service areas. He is more than an asset to your company and should be appropriately recognized.

I have to warn others of my 2nd year experience with TruGreen. I'm only talking about my area that's treats the lawns which is in Upper Marlboro, MD. I only received one treatment for weeds since I had signed up and they never would come back for the next appointment. No matter if they had an appointment day or not. They would not show up. I constantly had to call to find out why they are not showing up! I don't know why I resigned. I thought it was going to be better or maybe had new management or something and I had got this good rate so that's why have it one more try. But the same thing that happened last year 2015 is happening again in 2016. Now we're really behind in treatments. We're trying to follow their program for a weed free and green lawn and they're not even following it. It's the craziest thing ever. 1 treatment since the season started and here it is almost June.
Twice they emailed stating they did treatment and they had never came. The rep. even said they didn't because they never received a ticket back and plus receipt was hung on our door or the flags not on the lawn. No smell either so don't know why the computer would state they came when they didn't??? We wasted a lot of time and aggravation with TruGreen and I'm furious about this. We could had chose any lawn company and chose this one which was the worst mistake. I will tell anybody I know not to go with TruGreen at least the one in Upper Marlboro, MD. They don't communicate with their customers or let them know what's going on with the account. Nothing. I rather do our own than deal with them. TruGreen delete all our numbers, address everything PLEASE.

After years of damage and total neglect, our yard is the envy of the neighborhood! Since we began using TruGreen, the service card was left to explain what services were completed. Anthony also explains what services he will provide and the effects they will have on our yard in the near future. And, while we are so pleased with TruGreen's services and providing us with our own "TruGreen Lawn Sanctuary", one of the most important reasons we are pleased with our TruGreen service is how Anthony takes the time to talk about how our yard is his "Baby" and "Work of Art".
Each time we encounter Anthony, his enthusiasm about our yard is contagious. We enjoy when Anthony takes the time to speak to us; we have come to learn about his growing family and he respectfully always inquires about our family. We have invited his family out to our house to swim! This service weeds, feeds, and sprays for extra hard weeds like wild violets and creeping Charlie ivy. We love all the workers that have been to our home in the last 2 years. They're all very personable, nice, and truly caring. They have all done their job thoroughly and to perfection. We have never had a problem with this company or any of its employees. How these guys are still in business with their terrible customer service. First of all, they never even showed up after I had an "appointment" and waited the entire day. I called in and complained and they said they would take care of us and sent a "manager" out the next day. He called me and said he looked at our lawn and it needs work (no kidding, why else did I call them) but that they "aren't miracle workers". This was beyond rude and they clearly didn't want my business so I went elsewhere. Apparently their competitors are miracle workers because they got the lawn just where I wanted and needed it to be and they were really nice.

Our TruGreen tech is awesome. My lawn looks amazing. I have people compliment me on it all the time. I have no weeds, crab grass and the dark green color shows off our healthy lawn. Our Tech is also very honest. He sprayed one of our bushes and offered to pay for it. It didn't kill it but most of the time we are not home when they service the lawn so we would have never known. Being very busy, I'm lucky to find time to cut the grass every week, let alone do all the treatments necessary to maintain a nice lawn. I appreciate the timely service given by the TruGreen team. I have seen significant improvements in the lawn since TruGreen first began treating it, and this has also freed up a lot of my time so that I don't have to worry about all of the particulars of lawn care. TruGreen's team is usually good about contacting me to let me know when service will take place, the technician will always knock on the door to indicate that work is about to begin, and notification about any billing is immediately available so that I can reconcile the cost of service with TruGreen. I like the ability to pay online instead of having to mail a paper check.

I was dissatisfied with the initial application since zero weeds died, but instead thrived. They came back and reapplied. Several months later, the weeds are still growing, the crabgrass is going wild. All I got to show for their many visits is a wrecked vehicle (since their driver side swiped it) and a live oak that is dying since their last application. Very disappointed in their promises vs. what they actually accomplish.

The grass I want in my yard does not green until late in the year. I was having trouble with unwanted grass and weeds in my yard and called the number on the website. I was pressured to set up bill pay and declined. I requested that someone come out and talk with me about my lawn before service. I was told this was not done that I could only talk to the person I was talking to and the information would be given to the service person. I requested afternoon and made sure I was on the property and could keep my pet off the treated lawn. I showed the service person the unwanted grass and the weeds. He said he would take care of it. He applied fertilizer and weed killer. I paid the bill he left via mail. The fertilizer caused the unwanted grass to explode. The weed killer did very little if anything to slow the weeds. I waited the required time to call back and complained. I was told the service person would be back out apply weed killer only.
I again requested afternoon so I could be on the property and talk with the service person. The service person came early in the morning and I could not keep my dog off the treated yard. Again fertilizer and weed killer was applied. So much for my request of weed killer only. Or to be able to keep my pet off the treated lawn. Let alone talk with the service person. I now have a yard full of ugly unwanted grass and yes still weeds. Guess they don't care as long as it's green. So I get an auto call that they want to come out again and charge me for whatever the service person decides to do, whenever he decides to do it. I call to end service and prevent any other visits. I am then told that there is a person that is an expert that can come by and evaluate and talk to me about my lawn. Seems to me they do not care about much except getting people locked into auto service and bill pay.
I wish I could give minus stars as this company had 2 chances to provide a service they are suppose to be qualified to do and made my problems worse. I have no idea what I will have to pay someone else to fix the damage that was done. And I paid this company money to make my yard worse. I was lied to about being able to talk with someone before the first service. I was lied to that only weed killer would be applied the second service. The service person came early in the morning despite my request for afternoon giving my pet access to the treated lawn.

I called TruGreen because they had made an application a few weeks ago, and I thought I had crabgrass. The lady that answered the phone was understanding and said that someone would be out within three days to fix the problem. I was working in my yard when the TruGreen Specialist, Chris **, arrived. He asked me to show him the crabgrass. What I thought was crabgrass was real grass with seedlings. Chris was professional, helpful and polite - a very positive member of TruGreen.

I used TruGreen for 2 years over a decade ago. My lawn went from a few weed that I didn't know how to control, to a yard full of weeds and the worst lawn I'd ever had. They would come out well behind schedule, and I even caught them driving up, putting their sign down and leaving without doing any work. I actually played ball with a manager of a different branch. Through this I learned that TruGreen was extremely good at excuses. He could always come up with great ones. So I paid quite a bit of money for some very good excuses.
So I've done my own yard for the last decade (and failed). Now I have creeping charlie that is out of control. My neighbor had gotten a guarantee from them. He seemed to have some good results, so I called them again to get the same guarantee. So they took all my information (including payment info) and told me they'd get the first application within 5-10 days. It has now been over a month, and I haven't even heard from them. I also just found out that my neighbor has fired them for lying about doing service (once again putting a sign down that they did an application and simply driving off). I've had some bad experiences with companies, but by far this is the worst in any field I've ever dealt with.

The front lawn is very green. I have it mowed by a landscaper every two weeks at 3" per visit. It is looking extremely well. Weed killer was applied to the back and side lawns. The weed killer is doing its job as the weeds are not growing. I did fail to ask when another weed killer would be applied. I would like an answer to this question.

I am not sure if this complaint is the end of my story. I had the company come out and apply the product to the lawn and, on the second day after the service I had brown grass all over my lawn in both the back and the front. I called, spoke with a customer service rep and said the company would send someone out. They did, the tech took responsibility for the problem. I took pictures before the tech came out and put grass seeds out and, told us to water every day, which we did, the problem only got worse because the areas are now larger than before they came out to put grass seed on the lawn without any soil or taking up any of the dead grass. I just tried to call today but the office is closed. I will however be following up on Monday 5/9/2016 and hope that the company does the right thing with our lawn because it is a mess. Looking for great customer service.

The sign in the yard may be advertising, but it also reminds me as an older, forgetful person, that they have treated the lawn, so pets and kids should not be on it. We moved last year into a brand new home with a new yard to grow. We had several issues with weeds and thistles. A TruGreen representative came to our neighborhood and we signed up for several treatments. Since we have been treating yard we can really tell that the treatments have helped a great deal. No thistles or weeds and grass is looking thicker. The only problem is that we signed up for auto pay and since we are on a limited income (retired) we don't have a set schedule of when they come to treat yard. It would really be nice if when you sign up for several treatments throughout year that a schedule be set up so you know exactly when they will be coming and you can be better prepared for payment of that treatment. We are on auto pay but still need to have a schedule of when that treatment will be. Other than that we are completely satisfied with TruGreen.

When I purchased my home a little over a year ago the yard was in pretty bad shape and not much to look at. Signing on with TruGreen has helped me get it healthy and expanding through the yard. Timely services and follow-up, phone customer support is great and I am totally satisfied with the service.

We are having issues with a certain area of our yard and I was talking about it with the technician. He said he can't help at this point, but he was very nice. I wish the technicians that have been coming out for our treatments would have noticed the problem and done something about it before it was too late. But, overall, our lawn looks exceptional, with the exception of one area. Compared to last year when we started using TruGreen to now I am exceptionally happy. We actually have a lawn instead of weeds.

Richard ** consistently does a good job. Always greets me with a handshake and a "how goes it". Informs me as to what he is putting down and cleans up after the job when needed. Makes recommendations re: watering, etc. Good conversations.

TruGreen was been treating my lawn for several years. I have to look very hard to find even the tiniest weed. And it is the darkest green color on the street. I had used them for three years and still have crabgrass. Recently I was unemployed for a year and decided not to hire them for the current year. I did not respond to any of their current year solicitations or sign any documents allowing them to treat my yard in the current year. They showed up when I wasn't home and treated my yard. They are supposed to call first but didn't. I sent them an email discontinuing my service after they showed up without my permission. I got a bill for the unapproved and unsolicited service and when I called to tell them I wasn't going to pay for a service I didn't order, they said because I ordered it three years ago, it was renewed automatically annually even though I cancelled the credit card on the account and nobody called before coming to treat my yard.
I explained my unemployment situation and they didn't care -- asked how about if we split the difference? Really??? I should not have to pay for a service I didn't order. They refused to cancel the bill of 115.00. Yes TruGreen you will get your 115.00 but I will never use you again and I am going to make sure that everyone else in the area knows what poor customer service you have.

I've been with TruGreen since 2011, with my trees and shrubs. The specialist treating my yard has always been knowledgeable, pleasant, reliable and dependable. The treatments he uses for insects or fungus always seem to be appropriate. If I note a problem in between service visits, he makes a special trip to check it out. I highly recommend this company.

I was initially reluctant to hire TruGreen to help me resolve my lawn problems. I have a very large lawn which I've struggled for years to get rid of the weeds and develop a lush green lawn. I felt my lawn and its problems would be too difficult for TruGreen and they would just take my money and not do a good job. So far after only one service visit I am pleasantly surprised. The technician spent a very long time treating my lawn and I'm sure he covered the whole area. If this service continues, I'm confident the weeds will be eliminated so the grass can grow thick and strong.

9/4/15 - worker JW comes out to spray 4-month-old new sod at a newly built house for nutsedge. Worker sprays 1/2 the lawn with a chemical later identified as a grass killer. Worker does not spray east side of lawn, suspicion he knew of his mistake but does not tell anyone. As grass is dying over the next few days, numerous calls to TruGreen 1-800 number and the local Springfield office go unanswered. 9/16/15 - worker AH comes out to treat lawn and admits, "It looks bad." He says he will speak to his supervisor. Week of 9/22/15 Supv. L comes out and apologizes and says they will make it right without any further cost to me. Supv. L even takes photographs so he can show his boss and why I will not be paying.
Multiple reseedings to the dead grass area over the next 3months, only to have to deal with continued charges for the service when Supv. L said no charges till it's fixed. Now it's March 2016 and grass still not back with more fertilizing and continued charges. Supv. L comes out to look at grass recovery and assures me will be back to normal sometime in June/2016. 3/23/16 - more fertilizing and again another bill of $96.95. This time send aggressive email of my displeasure with their service and communication skills. This time Supv. L boss comes out to see grass and tells me he was not aware. (What! Not aware of the issue here, why the pictures of the dying grass back in Sept?)
Wow, horrible communication and piss poor customer service. Lawn still destroyed. Owner of TruGreen calls on phone and he wants to make this right and show me what TruGreen can really do. Then explains how he will cut my charge by $10.00, now $86.95, for the remainder. Unreal, new house moved in June 2015, spent over $20,000 on sod to have 1/2 of it destroyed. Cut ties with TruGreen.

At first the cost seemed very reasonable. However, after looking at the time stamp on a couple bills I noticed they were only on my property for about a minute each time. Now my yard is not huge, but whatever they are doing each time I would expect to take longer than a minute. After a year, I saw no results. My yard looked exactly the same. What was very annoying was the day after a treatment, I would start getting calls for payment. Just one day after! I think if they invested as much time on the actual lawn as they do calling for payments so quickly, maybe everyone would see better service. Turns out after speaking to a couple neighbors, they have all had the same experience at some point and dropped TruGreen as well.
Daryl, I'm very sorry for any disturbance our collection calls may have caused you. Our typical practice is to begin collection attempts after 45 days of non-payment to avoid an interruption with your services. Also, we do train our service professionals to treat up to 1,000 sq ft per minute. Your account reflects that we were treating less than 1,500 ft, so the time spent on your property would be accurate. I've been a customer for two years. Service wasn't cheap but ok. This year I've had to call 3 times and still had nobody come out for my first application. They keep telling me next week but still nothing. I should be on second application already. Don't waste your time. Shop and get someone cheaper and better.

I have had TruGreen for several years (at least 13yrs) and have nothing but good things to say about their service. My lawn never quite looked good until TruGreen took over. It took a couple of years to get it looking real good, but my yard was a mess no matter how much I worked on it and no matter how much I spent on it. I never could get it looking thick and healthy. Now I'm on disability and they continue to do my lawn because I wouldn't trust no one else. I can count on them to be there when they say they are and when I've had the chance to meet the employee on occasion they have always been polite and knowledgeable. Very few times over the years have they had to come back and take care of a few weeds.

We have used TruGreen Lawn service for the past three years. It seems that we have to engage in some sort of game every year to get our service re-started after the winter. We paid in full last fall for the entire upcoming season. I noticed a fungus on part of my fescue and when I called to inquire about it, discovered that I should have had two visits already. The customer service reps are not allowed to transfer you to a supervisor. You have to wait for a callback. Very frustrating to say the least. The Charlottesville, VA location has been nothing but a hassle to deal with. Period.
Chris, I'm very sorry for any frustration we've caused you with your TruGreen experience. I was able to locate your account with the information provided, and I see that we did have a discrepancy for the amount of credits that should have been left on your account. Our records also show that you've been refunded for the appropriate amount of services that you did not receive. I'm sorry that you did not receive an immediate response from a local supervisor, but management does work in the field assisting our customers for most of their day. I called TruGreen on May 28, 2015 and subscribed one-year service. I also paid one-year expense in advance during the call. On the call, I emphasized that I only want to try the service for one year as this is the first time that I used the service. Customer service officer is so eager to finalize the contract with me and never told me that one-year contract would automatically be renewed and the so called one-year is not a calendar year.
Since last June, the serviceman from TruGreen started to come to my house to do the service. My in-law met the guy once and she told me that guy only worked for 5 minutes on my lawn. My lawn looked so bad now and I have to plant a new lawn. To make things worse, I started to get bill from TruGreen this March. It turned out that one-year service is from last June to this Mar (excluding winter season), and the one-year contract is automatically renewed without my agreement. I do feel that this company is taking advantage of me and cheating me by not disclosing important information in the very beginning. Let alone the lousy service it provided. This is really not tolerable.

I hired TruGreen to service my lawn in the spring of 2015. They were to fertilize and do weed killer on my lawn. In the six months that I had them I saw one person. I told them that I wanted to be present when they serviced my lawn. They always seemed to show up when I was gone. The weeds didn't get killed but I do have to say that I asked them to do the fire ant killer and they did and it worked for about eight months. I cancelled my service because I saw no improvement in my lawn like others. They continued to call me for months after I cancelled.
I have horses I run on my yard. They told me it was safe for them after one week. I just called them to maybe come out to kill some stickers I have in my yard, they told me they couldn't do it because the chemicals they use are not safe for animals. Told them they had done my yard before. I guess it's a good thing they didn't kill my horses or this review would be a lot different. I guess I will find someone local and keep my money close to home.
