I purchased Magic Chef mini refrigerator and turned off my electric panel, very dangerous, the smell of burning wires coming from the back of the unit. I contacted the manufacturer and they made excuses and refused to repair or replace the unit.

Model MCWBC24DST. I purchased one that lasted about 3 years before it stopped cooling. It was out of warranty so I bought another one that lasted about 5 months. It was still under warranty so the manufacturer sent a repair tech out and he said it was not repairable because there was a leak in the system. Now I have two nonworking coolers. I am waiting for a refund on the recently purchased unit from the manufacturer. Don't waste your time with this, it looks good but is of poor quality/design.

My wife and I purchased the Magic Chef Wine fridge model # MCWBC77DZC from Home Depot 2 years ago when we finished our basement. It is very aesthetic but functions like a piece of crap! Never really cooled very well, now a week before our July 4 party the bottom zone fan seized up and won't cool at all. Home Depot said it's not their problem and Magic Chef basically gave us the run around. Almost like they had a prepared statement when we told them the problem with the fridge. Do not buy this fridge or any product from Magic Chef, really disappointed.

I purchased this wine cooler in 2014 at Home Depot, it was working fine. Our power had gone off and the fridge would not cool down after that it goes on but won’t cool down. We contacted Magic Chef. They sent us a part to fix it but we could not get it to cool down. They gave us a repair person in our area but no one could help. They have giving us nothing but a runaround. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and they told me my warrant was up. They finally sent me a check for a 100.00. This unit was bought because I’m redoing my kitchen to sell my house and the unit sits here unable to work. This company is a joke. I never chased that check. And I don’t know what to do. This fridge cost over 600.00 and it was never really used. Don’t buy from them ever.

Had this wine cooler with 2 zones for little over a year. The lower zone ices up and the fan hits the ice and stops. Couldn't figure out why the lower part wasn't cooling until I got in there with a light that showed the ice build up. I manually defrost and the ice still builds up and then does not cool the lower area. Seems like others have had the same problem.

The reviews that I read were spot on. After one year I had to completely defrost the unit due to ice build up. And now, one year later, the unit does not cool. The company is unresponsive. Do not purchase the Magic Chef Wine And Beverage Center.

I purchased a Magic Chef Wine and Beverage Center, model number MCWBC77DZC, just over 2 years ago at the Home Depot in St. Louis Park, MN when my family refinished our basement. My story may sound familiar to you. One week ago, both the top zone and the bottom zone began failing. I reset the top and bottom zone temperatures to the lowest possible numbers, 37 degrees F. No such luck. Today, the top zone reads at 54 degrees F, the bottom zone reads 47 degrees F.

After reading a number of similar stories on the Consumer Affairs Web Page, I phone Magic Chef - and was ultimately sent to Sue's voice mail (a supervisor at Magic Chef I believe). I then phoned the Home Depot in St. Louis Park and spoke to Terry. He was quite sympathetic and told me that he would voice my concerns with this Magic Chef product to his coworkers at a store meeting tomorrow.

At this point I'm not sure how the problem will be rectified. Perhaps Magic Chef will cut me a check for a replacement beverage center? (Terry at Home Depot believes the problem is likely a leak in the coils - basically a non-repairable problem.) Or maybe Home Depot will stop carrying Magic Chef products until all of these failed units are replaced, or the home owners are reimbursed? Perhaps a gung-ho attorney will file a class action lawsuit? Time will tell. In the meantime, I wanted to add my story to this tree. Best of luck!

Renovated my kitchen with a custom cut out for under the counter wine cooler. Paid over 600.00 for this unit and it stopped cooling only after 1 year 3 months. So after reading all of the problems these coolers are having and the manufacturer is still selling this product is just bad business. I think an attorney should contact everyone and file a class action lawsuit against Magic Chef. Why is this company not recalling these units or take them off the market until they can fix the issues everyone is having. Money!!! The greed of these large companies who continue to pump out this garbage product that consumers buy with no recourse. Very frustrated in California with another great product Home Depot is selling.

NEVER BUY ANY MAGIC CHEF PRODUCT. I bought a MAGIC CHEF WINE COOLER - Model MCWBC77DZC at Home Depot 15 months ago, and it is no longer cooling (runs, but does not cool). I contacted Magic Chef, and gave me the song and dance about being out of warranty. I contacted two local service companies. After some discussion about the symptoms, one told me that it was probably a leak in the compressor and would cost roughly $400 - $500 to repair. The other said that this wine cooler is a piece of junk and not worth repairing. What a total POS. We paid somewhere around $400 for this POS and after only 15 months, it no longer functions, and the cost to repair is more than the purchase cost. Never again will we purchase anything made by MAGIC CHEF. I hope this review helps others avoid the expensive mistake I made by buying Magic Chef.

Bought the unit (Master Chef Dual Zone Under Cabinet Wine Refrigerator) at Home Depot. Shortly after the year warranty it quit cooling. Problem was a detached wire to fan. Poor factory weld. Shortly after having that repaired the thing lost cooling ability and is now a kitchen ornament. Anyone buying a Master Chef appliance of any kind might consider having their head examined. I will check in to see what the issue is now but have little confidence that repair won't cost more than the units value. Looks nice but total piece of crap. Tough to find a positive review on any appliance with the name Magic Chef on it. If you have one that works for any length of time it is probably magic circumstances. Strongly recommend buying anything other than a Magic Chef... would hope that Home Depot quits selling anything imported by whoever makes this junk.
