We had an icemaker that was discharging pieces of plastic with the ice. GE handled this issue poorly. This could have ended a lot worse if someone swallowed a piece of the sharp plastic, but GE did nothing to fix the issue nor look deeper into the issue that could have endangered someone. They sent a tech out to have us pay $130 for a part to fix the issue. $130 or a lawsuit GE, incredible. I will NEVER buy from GE ever again. Poor customer service, very unorganized. Nobody knows anything when you call, it's all a game. GE - worst appliance company ever.

The flooding of our kitchen floor has occurred from the first week after delivery/installation until the present time. A GE tech has replaced our icemaker 3 times now and after a few weeks of normal usage the problem recurs. We are now on our 4th icemaker in this refrigerator. It was a good thing that we purchased the 5 year extended maintenance plan from the Home Depot. After this recent repair they are supposed to replace the appliance (if it fails again) and they are unable to repair it (same problem).

DO NOT BUY GE ADORA 27 cubic ft. REFRIGERATORS! Okay folks, here it is! I don't really like to rant and rave about things on FB but I thought why not do it! We bought one in July 2015. $2,000.00. Where we bought it does not matter. It is a brand issue. On January 14th it just shut down and died all electrical functions. Service call number 1: The motherboard is dead. Will overnight one and be BACK IN A WEEK. Service call 2: Motherboard installed, same problem. Pulled out one motherboard plug-in. It is now a shorted out evaporator (condenser) fan.

Sorry about that. Couldn't analyze that the first time. Will ship a new fan and Wi-Fi device that helps to update motherboard after fan installed. BACK IN A WEEK. Service call 3: Installed new fan, updated motherboard, it ran and looked okay. Should cool down in about 8 hours according to technician. 2 days later, freezer at 10 degrees. Great! Upper level above crisper drawers at 42 degrees. Next two levels up 50 and 52 degrees respectively. Temp set at 37 degrees. Call service department for appointment. Next available is Monday February 1st between 12 and 5 PM. At 2:30PM we get a phone call. Sorry!! Technician called in sick today. NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT IS MONDAY FEBRUARY 8TH. WTF!!! YOU COULDN'T CALL SOONER. NOW - that is some crappy customer service.

The problems run a lot deeper than what I have described. If you want details ask me. Just be forewarned. This GE fridge sucks! And I think a lot of the root cause is adding technology upon technology onto these new electronic devices. Who knew a new fridge would have a Wi-Fi device! Done for now. The frustration for MY WIFE and I runs deep! AND STILL NOT WORKING!

We've had this GE model for over 8 years now. Within 6 months this 2400 dollar refrigerator started malfunctioning... besides all the other problems, this current situation that has me posting here is the water dispenser freezes up constantly. At 62 years of age, I've been through a few appliances in my lifetime. You can bet my next won't be a GE product. Over engineered in design, under funded in quality of materials.

I have a 5 Year old GE French door refrigerator that stopped getting cold. Repair man says it was leaking coolant, and would cost over $1100 to repair. Called GE and they offered me less than $200 dollars towards the repair bill saying it is an old refrigerator (old at 5 years!) and they can't be responsible for it. This is not a problem that was due to damage or by neglect. REALLY GE you expect your refrigerators to last only 5 years. Not the first problem I have had with this fridge but is the last GE I buy. Avoid this company and their products that they don't stand behind. Take the time to read all the other reviews online about GE. I wish I had.

I purchased a high-end, $2500, GE profile counter depth fridge in 2007 and have had nothing but trouble with it. I guess the fact that the warranty is only 12 months tells you everything because I had so many problems that I stopped contacting GE about 3 years ago. Now I have, again, a fridge that does not cools and every time I open the door it sounds like a helicopter is about to take off... I remember fridges back in the day that people threw out after 40 years just to get a new one but these new GE models... AVOID... I did not realize how many other buyers have had similar issues and probably only a small percent of those affected actually complain online.

GE decided to pay for this service call realizing that this is a repeat issue. I applaud GE, but the product is still a lemon.

    Original Review: Jan. 13, 2016

Imagine buying a fridge that is down for a month, spoils your food for a month, and GE does nothing about it. Is that not a lemon? This is what we experienced with a brand new GE Cafe fridge model CYE22TSHSS. We bought this fridge over a year ago and it has been down 4 times, out of 3 we had serious downtime, and had no operational fridge for a total of a month if you add all the total downtime -- waiting for repair person, waiting for parts, and it breaks multiple times. I bought GE not for their product but for service, and unfortunately I got the worst service and the worst product ever, and continual spoiled food. My fridge is down again, same part which GE replaced before: a fan. Yes!! Apparently a fan overheats, and brings down the entire fridge, spoils all my food. GE repair said that this fan is known to have problems - so they apparently know about this and did nothing to re-engineer it?? Shame on you GE.

I purchased all GE products thinking they were the best. Not so. Purchased all in Jan 2011. The main issue is the side by side refrigerator. Right after purchase it kept freezing things in fridge. GE repair man said "oh that's normal. Keep your stuff further up front." Really? What do I do put up barriers. Then in Apr 2014, the round thing in ice maker tub broke off. The round parts are plastic. I had extended warranty and they sent repairman to fix. Then in July of 2014 it wouldn't keep making ice. Came 2 times same thing, so he replaced the ice maker.

So now it is end of 2015 and on Christmas day my grandson took a drink of ice water and there was a piece of broken plastic in his glass. THANK GOD he didn't swallow it. At that point did not know what it was. Then 3 days later my boyfriend took a drink and same thin piece of plastic in his glass. He took out the ice maker tray and once again the plastic broke. HOW stupid to put plastic in an ice maker. I am just glad no one swallowed that plastic or GE would be paying hospital bills. How cheap can they be. Those parts in the ice maker MUST be metal. Long story short I will never buy another GE product. I am hoping the repairman will replace with metal not cheap plastic.

Ice and water are locked out. GE serviceman could not find the problem, suggested I return it to seller. The refrigerator works as far as cooling and freezing, just no water or ice. Been going to local grocery store to buy ice to use. This is on a new GE Profile. Two weeks for seller to replace. After having this in my house for over a week now, it is hard to get the shelves adjusted to fit all the normal height bottles (milk) and get all the stuff in there that our old side by side had. When running, it is very noisy, a combination of a humming florescent light and high pitch whine. We can hear it all over the house. This is nowhere near our old GE Profile that lasted 10+ years. The buyer who bought our house wanted it as part of the sale.

In 2012, when we purchased our new home, we installed a new kitchen and new appliances, all GE. The glass cooktop stove works great, microwave great too, but the fridge and dishwasher are a piece of junk. The dishwasher will not dry my dishes and when I called GE they said I have to put the Jet Dry but still it does not dry. Today is 12/23 and my 3 year old GE profile fridge stopped working completely out of the blue. We pulled it out, reset the breaker box and reset the fridge, nothing. So after trying to figure out what was wrong I decided to give GE a call. They tell me that the earliest they can send someone out is 12/31! Say what?! That's 9 days from today? After dealing with their useless customer service, I decided to call a local technician who was referred to me by a coworker. He arrived within an hour and was able to replace and fix my refrigerator within 30 minutes. The electric board burned out. Total repair cost was $300.

The technician showed me the cost for the part and he was very honest. I checked the part online and it was $200. He explained to me that GE refrigerators were not the best and he has been fixing these refrigerators for the past few years because the parts are not up to par. He also laughed when I mentioned to him that GE could send the technician in 9 days from today. He told me that they are union. Therefore, GE technicians can only do 5 repairs per day, and they GE is not suppose to make them drive so many miles within their area. Their union allows them to take off and not work on or before big holidays. I understand, this is out GE's hands, but why do I have to spend $300 for a part on a 3 year refrigerator? I am posting this now, I will post it on several places to advise consumers of this bad product. Next time I will spend a little extra for better brands like LG or Samsung!

I waited 41 years to remodel my kitchen. My old appliances were Whirlpool and were 30 yrs. old. During that 30 yrs. I only replaced the heating element in the oven and never had an issue with the burners or the refrigerator in all those years! In May 2015 I got my new GE stove, microwave/convection oven, and Profile refrigerator. On Dec. 9, 2015 my refrigerator stopped completely. We had to make numerous phone calls to set up an appointment to get it fixed.

TWO WEEKS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE amount of time!!! The repair guy came, said we needed a new motherboard... after 7 most! When he came back a week later to install it, he figured it was the fan! Now we are waiting another week and we are having Christmas this week and no refrigerator! To say I am p_____d off would be an understatement! I should thank my lucky stars that the stove and microwave still work. I wish I had read these reviews BEFORE I bought GE. Never again!

Purchased a new French door profile refrigerator on July 30, 2014 for $2450.00. Delivered and installed in August 2014. Had my first repair on Feb 2, 2015 for a faulty fan, under warranty. Had my second repair on Dec 2, 2015 for a recalled fan unit and the software needed to be updated (no charge since it was a recall). Refrigerator froze all of my fruits and veggies again on Dec 12, 2015. Called customer service and was easily smoozed by a consumer advocate named Laura who assured me that she could authorize a prorated cost of a new refrigerator. Called today and spoke to Keisha who offered me a new refrigerator for a mere $2,800.00. The estimated retail price was $3,100.00. When I told Keisha that it was a ridiculous offer and wanted to escalate the issue, I was told that she was the end point to escalation. SERIOUSLY???

OK GE, you "authorize" a person with minimal negotiating/enunciation skills to make ridiculous offers and tell consumers that they are the end point to escalating a problem. Shame on you General Electric! My only option now is to write to the Consumer Relations in Rapid City South Dakota. I asked Keisha if they had a phone number that I could call and she said "No. You have to write". Of course they do not have a phone number. I truly believe that this department does not exist and that this is a ploy to get rid of me and my problem. I googled the address in South Dakota and it does not have any building associated with the PO Box number. So I will write a scathing letter to the Customer Relations Dept. I will not hold my breath for a reply.

CONCLUSION: This is the worst refrigerator that I have ever purchased and GE should be absolutely ashamed of their product and of the training for the Consumer Advocate. The whole Consumer Advocate department is nothing but a bunch of buffoons. If you do not believe me GE then just listen to the "recorded conversation" that you are so deft at proclaiming at every call. DO NOT BUY A GE PRODUCT--- IT IS JUNK! I purchased a new GE Profile from Lowe's and in less than 5 years the entire unit completely failed. It was initially diagnosed as defective coils and replaced twice within a two-month timeframe. On the third failure, it was finally discovered that the heat exchange was defective from the factory and deemed irreparable (per GE Tech Support). The best GE can do is offer me a "discount" on a new unit which is more expensive than the unit I originally purchased.

In fairness, the CSR has been attentive to my case and did offer $150 toward a $600 repair but the ordeal itself has been a total nightmare. Since August '15, I've taken off a total of 8 days of work to deal with this issue, am out of pocket $450, lost and replaced food 3x, and now have to completely replace the unit. Major appliances should last longer than 5 years and GE should do more than offer a "discount" when a major factory part has failed and it cannot be repaired.

My wife and I have 3 houses in Venice FL. All 3 houses have high-end GE appliances. All houses have had serious GE issues. First house had the oven glass explode out of the range. This problem is all over the internet, but GE repair it at our cost. Second house GE cafe electric range, 3 years old, had the heating coil and switch go bad as determined by service guy. Second service guy said only the switch was bad, but since the coil was on back order it didn't get repaired for almost 2 months. GE repaired but at cost to me. Second service guy said he wouldn't charge since it took so long, but I already partially paid.

Third house had issues with temperature control as inside the Cafe fridge there was massive moisture build-up. This fridge is less than a year old. GE came and replaced fan with some success on moisture control. I noticed, however, that the left french door flap wasn't closing completely which resulted in the fridge sucking in warm FL humid air, which, in fact, was the problem and not the fan. Awaiting repair on this. Guess when buying GE appliances it's best to buy the warranty package. Hey, maybe that's what GE wants instead of reliable operation. I'm sure they don't want that, but with all the problems I've faced as well as others as posted on the internet, one can only wonder.

After building a house in 06 and installing $18,000 worth of KitchenAid appliances, we had nothing but problems then. The refrigerator was junk, the microwave was junk, and the dishwasher also junk. The only thing that worked was the elect cooktop. After that bad experience in our next house, we in 2010, we purchased GE profile at well under half the cost. Cooktop so far is working fine, dishwasher and oven microwave combo still working fine but the refrigerator has been a pile of crap since day one.

The ice maker is slow even on quick ice. The baskets in the freezer don't stay on their rails, always falling off. The water coming out the door that's supposed to be cold comes out warm. The ice coming out of the door takes about 10 minutes to fill your cup. Small exaggeration but extremely slow. The food in the back freezes, and now the refrigerator just quit working all together.

Well of course I purchased a 5yr extended warranty from sears and they said it expired a couple months ago. No surprise here. 5 years out of a $2200 fridge. Well after reading some of the other reviews I did pretty good. I did call an appliance repair man and he can't even find a motherboard to replace the one that’s in it. My conclusion, before I waste another dime on it I'm taking this PILE OF CRAP to the dump. And I’ll do some extensive research before I buy a replacement. Meanwhile my food is out in the refrigerator in the toy hauler. Do yourself a favor. DO NOT PURCHASE A G.E. REFRIGERATOR. Do some good research.

I told them I want a new fridge and I was told "not until your current fridge is deemed non-repairable". It almost makes me laugh to write that. I asked how much more could they possibly try to repair and I was told "this fridge has thousands of pieces". I'm not sure where to go from here... Oh, and let me mention that nobody at GE above a supervisor in their customer service area will take calls. How convenient is that? I'm left dealing with customer service people who sound like they are reading from a script. We may have to consider legal action...

The floor model in Home Depot had real good and tight slide-out freezer baskets but the refrigerator I got once freezer got cold the baskets become too short for the tracks and when you slide baskets out to get food goes right off the tracks and the ice maker feed line for the water makes a loud banging noise when it is sending water to the ice maker. Called GE and got the typical runaround but no action but of course I can pay for a service call, already called once on another ice maker problem.

Our GE Profile French Door Bottom Freezer, model PFSS6PKWSS which is now seven years old started making a very annoying "buzzing noise" every time it came on about five months ago. We discussed this problem with an appliance repair tech and did many internet searches about what could be the problem. It was pretty much the common thought across the board. "It has to be your compressor going bad, could be a bad fan motor or the blade hitting something, Ice on the freezer compartment fans or bad motors. We don't know before we take a look at it."

We went through this three years ago with a Kenmore dishwasher. We put $400.00 into repair work and two months later it was bad again. The repair was under warranty so we called the repair tech back. He said this was a different problem and was not covered. He said the new repair would be around $400.00 again. We told him where he could go and we sent the dishwasher to the dump.

Back to the refrigerator. Having a center island, our unit is located in a pretty tight spot and knew it would be a problem pulling it out and getting a look into the back. So for about five months we just put up with the noise. I wasn't going to call a repair tech until we had the unit pulled out and I had a chance for a "first look." Knowing that it would cost at least $150.00 to have the repair tech ring the door bell, I wasn't going to call him without having the unit pulled out and having a look at it.

At first look I could see nothing wrong. The fan was fine, the motor was good, the compressor sounded good. The noise sounded like it was coming from an area above the compressor compartment where I could not access from the back. I then thought it must be in the freezer compartment. The compressor is on rubber mounts and just by chance I moved it very slightly and the noise stopped. If I took my hand off the compressor it would start again. It was coming somewhere above the compressor compartment.

I then touched the copper refrigerant line coming out of the compressor and it was vibrating very sharply. This line worked its way into the upper portion of the refrigerator, again where I could not get to from the back. This vibration was carried up that copper line to somewhere inside the unit. If I applied a little upward pressure to this line the noise would stop. I tweaked this line up very slightly, being very careful as to not break a solder joint and that took care of my problem. Bottom line to all this, take a first look at the situation before jumping in and calling in the techs. Be very careful in what you do, but look around and do a little poking and prodding. You just might save yourself several hundred dollars.

Thing is we didn't hear anything. The ref and freezer is all well, working fine except for that thing I saw which puzzled me because it is very unusual to see something like that and I guess if that thing happened the freezer should not be working anymore. I should have listened to reviews but I thought the brand name is very good.

I agree with the rest of the reviews here because some of the parts like the handles, it's always loose, even if you tighten it after a day it will like that again. I hope somebody can tell me if they also experience this problem. I called Sears where we got it but they said even if I pay the technician since it doesn't covered by the warranty anymore that even if it's manufacturer problem, we are the one who will pay for it, so what's the use of getting a technician if we will pay everything. Plus that one is not parts, it's the wall that blew up and I don't even know what was the cause. Look at the photo.

When we purchased our home 5-1/2 years ago the kitchen appliances were all GE Profile. After 3 years the microwave stopped working and was eventually replaced by GE because of a design failure. The new microwave, designed for families who can't cook, is functionally useless. Last year the ice-maker in our side-by-side refrigerator went on the fritz and cannot be replaced without having a technician do it. Today, it started leaking water from inside the front of the freezer door from a source that cannot be readily determined. The gas range now appears to have recently started to leak gas from some internal area in the oven.

Bottom line, whatever you're thinking of doing, we strongly suggest that you do not consider buying any GE Profile appliance. Our experience has shown us that they are unreliable and have presented built in defects within 3 to 5 years. Considering the cost for these appliances, your money can be better spent on more reliable products!

Took 4 attempts/return visits to repair it (extended warranty service). Refrigerator died a month later! This time when I called my GE extended warranty company (Assurance Solutions) they informed me they ended their contract with A&E Repair Service and they had NO CONTRACTORS AVAILABLE TO COME REPAIR MY APPLIANCE! When remodeling our kitchen in 2007, we bought a built-in freezerless refrigerator, the top-of-the-line GE Monogram, model ZIRS36NMHCH. It was a splurge. It has been a disaster. From early on, it grew mold that was impossible to ever fully eradicate as it grew in crevices that were unreachable. I cannot count the times I removed everything, thoroughly cleaned all surfaces, and repeated the process a couple of months later. (The best solution I found, from reading what people with complaints similar to mine made, was putting cinnamon oil that is heated to the steaming point in the microwave, into the refrigerator. So long as I remembered to reheat the oil weekly, the mold problem did not grow worse).

We learned to live with the mold and we grew accustomed to yanking hard on the door to get it to open after closing it and quickly reopening it. Then a few months ago, we started hearing a gurgling noise that went on for a few seconds after closing the door. Occasionally, we noticed a little water on the floor. Just prior to this phenomenon, I'd had a repairman out to look at the mold and see what might be done. He told me not to expect more than 10 years' use from the GE Monogram. In his experience, they simply don't hold up.

The warranty (parts only) on this mountain of moldy metal was 7 years on the sealed system. Ours expired almost 8 years to the date of installation. Thousands of dollars for what? Endless mold and a ridiculously short life. Oh, we could have it serviced for an estimated $2500. Fool us once, shame on you GE. Fool us twice... not gonna happen. I certainly hope GE is a better defense contractor than they are a manufacturer of appliances. Stick to war. You do not belong in the kitchen.

We purchased our GE refrigerator, model GFE29HSDGSS, in late November of 2014. By April of 2015, the inside temperature started fluctuating. Even if the refrigerator hadn't been open all night. it was about 10 degrees higher than the preset temperature (38 degrees) the night before. At times, the upper ice dispenser would not dispense ice because the ice cubes had melted, then refrozen together making it impossible for the auger to grab and dispense them. We called the place that we had bought it from (Baillio's Appliance Warehouse), and even though the warranty service is contracted out to A&E factory service (more about their substandard service later), Baillio's sent one of their professional technicians out to look at it.

The tech verified what we had complained about, but told us that an upgrade firmware needed to be loaded that should resolve the problem. He told us that GE would only mail him a flash drive with the firmware and then he would bring it out and install it. Two weeks later, he received the flash drive, came out and installed the firmware. He also replaced a circulation fan that may have contributed to the problem. The Baillio's tech apologized for the long wait time even though it wasn't his fault. This Baillio's tech provided the service, concern, and professional attitude that used to be common in the industry 40 years ago. Great guy! I wish GE would contract with service people like him.

The temperature fluctuation problem seemed to be fixed, but the ice maker was still melting and refreezing the ice. We called Baillio's again. The service guy told us that A&E would have to provide that service because they are contracted to do the warranty work. He contacted A&E, but the soonest a tech could come out was in three weeks. Three weeks went by, I took off work to meet the A&E service tech, and he arrived within the 4 hour service window as promised. He checked that the proper firmware was loaded, checked the circulation fan, various temperature checks, called the factory for advice, but couldn't find out the reason the ice was melting, then refreezing. He told us that we probably weren't using it enough. I told him we would try using it more, but every now and then, I have to bang on the dispenser to get the ice to dispense.

While the A&E tech was working on things, I mentioned that the water dispenser now had a very slow drip. He ordered a replacement solenoid valve, along with a new ice/water dispensing paddle which had been identified by GE as a potential problem. He also showed me how small the cold water reservoir was (see photo) which explained why you cannot dispense more than one large glass of water within 4 hours. After ordering the parts, the service tech made an appointment to have them installed. He also informed me that he had come from Tulsa, Oklahoma to provide this service. Tulsa, Oklahoma! I live in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area! I couldn't believe that GE is contracting with a company two states away to provide their warranty service. No wonder it takes months to resolve a problem!

It's been over a month since that appointment was made. Last night I get an automated message telling me to call their 1 800 number to reschedule my appointment. I call them and get their service that tells me that their appointment service is closed and for me to call back tomorrow. I can't believe it! The cowards don't have the courage to have a real person call me and reschedule the appointment because of a failure on their part. Instead, I have to call them and adjust my schedule, once again, to make up for their lack of planning. This company deserves to go out of business.

Conclusion! For a company that has been manufacturing refrigerators since 1927, GE refrigerators today perform like a product from a manufacturer that don't know a thing about refrigerators. Their quality and service to their customers has diminished GREATLY! I try to buy products made in America, but I don't like getting ripped off. I will never buy another GE product. A&E technicians are top notch, but their customer service administration and communication is substandard at best. If you enjoy getting angry, poor communication, missing work, and lengthy appointments schedules, then use this company.

Then I was put in touch with their "Electric Insurance Dept" and was offered the incredible sum of $100 to not only replace my $800 in food that was spoiled but also to somehow compensate me for the 17 miles each way I now must drive each day to get ice for the ice chest that I now must use for the next 6 -10 weeks until GE gets out a service tech, replaces their defective product. GE does NOT stand behind their products.

This refrigerator is a lemon and GE DOES NOT CARE about the consumer. I was screamed at by Keisha in their Consumer Relations Department. Customer service was extremely rude and gave us nothing but grief. 1st offered $400 off on a new unit (original unit cost $1400) and after days of my wife arguing and going up the chain of command, offered $800. I wish they wouldn't have offered anything because we decided to use the offer to purchase a new unit. Yesterday I opened the freezer side and that plastic on the left side has cracked. HUGE financial hardship on my family and not to mention the waste of good food/condiments. Especially now that I buy mostly unprocessed/organic products. My condominium complex was furnished with all General Electric Kitchen appliances when it was built in 2008. Since then there have been water leaks in more than 10 units and each one of them from a General Electric Refrigerator. The damages exceed well over half a million.

I am still wondering why the HOA has not filed a class action lawsuit. My unit alone has had three water leaks. Two from General Electric Refrigerators and another from a defective part in the General Electric dishwasher from the unit above me. The heartache that General Electric has scarred me with will last a lifetime. They are ranked as one of the top 23 US companies and they are completely on the bottom of my list. This was the most expensive refrigerator we ever got at 2000$. It should had been at 200$ Brand new with a big caution sign on the side of the box. We usually buy used refrigerators and they still last more than 2 years. And you don't have to keep buying the same parts over and the parts wouldn't be so high to buy. Good thing I was handyman. If not would have had some very difficult activating days. Because it stays hot in Florida. Anywho very disappointed in General Electric product this time around. Year purchased - 2014. Product: REFRIGERATOR/FREEZER. Model Number: PWE23KGDDWW. A pre-warning to others. I purchased my refrigerator Aug. 20th, 2014. French door with bottom freezer. Almost exactly to the 1-yr date (Aug. 18th, 2015) my refrigerator stopped working. It jumped to 70 degrees in one day. The freezer remained working; just the fridge cooling stopped. Called for service appt, which they arrived on Aug. 20th, 2015. The technician was here for no more than 5 minutes when he stated the fan need to be replaced.

Looking in his computer, he noted that it was listed as a known recall issue. There is no communication to consumers of this known recall issue when you are looking at this item, and decide to purchase it. He says the part needs to be ordered, and will be shipped USPS to my address in 1 - 3 business days. Yet, all technicians are busy due to the summer months, and the earliest they can come back to install the fan is Aug. 31st. What I am most angry about is that this was a known recall item for this year/model. Upon scheduling the service call, I provided the Model # / Serial #, and noted that the cooling stopped.

I don't understand the incompetence of not having replacement fans already available in their trucks, when they know in advance exactly which model I'm calling about. Was given a 5-hour window (12pm - 5pm) for their arrival, only to wait around all day until 4pm to be told, "Oh, we need to order this part, we'll come back in 11 days, sorry." If you already have this fridge and experience this same issue (fridge stops/freezer is fine), specify in your customer service call that the technician should have a fan available in their truck upon arrival; that you are aware of a fan recall for this model. Don't waste your whole day waiting for a technician if they don't bother to carry the replacement part with them...

As an owner of a GE refrigerator I've encountered a problem that I have researched and found to be very common among the GE line. The water nozzle freezes and is unable to dispense water. Although I've had the fridge for a few years I thought well it's just a matter of repair as nothing last forever. Called a reputable repair service and thought at most they might have to install a defrost kit. The serviceman arrived and within a few minutes determined that the door was not stapled but glued together and repairs would not be available. The only repair that could be made would be to replace the door at approx. $600.00.

For that kind of price seems it would be better to replace the entire unit with a longer life expectancy. Speaking of life expectancy, I just happen to have an old fridge that's twice as old but doesn't match the other appliances that still works wonderfully and never required a single repair. Bottom line, research before you buy. Seems to be lots of problems with the GE fridges.

We purchased this refrigerator in March for our shore home, hardly had any use until late June. After grocery shopping for 11 of us, the refrigerator temp went to 56 degrees, causing us to throw out all the spoiled food. The appliance store we purchased from called GE and they were unable to have someone out until the following day. We had 7 young children in the home and no refrigerator.

As you can imagine, tough position to be in. I called back to express the urgency of getting someone sooner and it took 7 phone calls before I rec a live person, whom still couldn't help us. Very poor Customer service, no compassion. The repairman whom came out informed us this was the 3rd fan gone bad on this unit, has had several issues w/ customers. Wondering why this unit was not recalled and still being sold. This was a very pricey unit and should not be having these issues already. I no longer have any faith in GE and will not be buying GE again.

Updated on 08/03/2015: After they fixed the first problem (see earlier post), my husband called back on a Saturday as the freezer was not making ice. They could not send anyone out until the following Friday, so we were forced to buy ice daily as the refrig is in our shore home. On Thursday, the day before the scheduled repair, they called and said they had to cancel the appointment as they "overbooked." The next avail apt was the following week on a Wednesday while I would be working.

I explained I could not take off work another day to drive an hour to be there and could not be there the following weekend as we had a wedding out of town. I felt they should accommodate me and come for the original appointment. I requested a Supervisor and explained this was the 2nd issue in two weeks on a brand new refrigerator and we had been inconvenienced enough. Asked her why it is my problem they overbooked. They did not care, no compassion at all. Horrible heartless Customer service Dept. I will NEVER purchase a GE product again.

We purchased a new GE, French door refrigerator in November. Everything worked fine until earlier this month. We were out of town for 3 weeks and when we returned we discovered that the unit had shut down while we were gone. The food was rotten and some of the chicken and fish packages were bloated and ready to burst. It had to have been off for at least a week and a half. The sales people where we bought it suggested we unplug it and then plug it back in. We did that. It restarted. The week before we got home there had been thunder storms in the area, but there was no indication in the house that the electricity had gone out. Even if it had, the refrigerator should have restarted when it came back on.

Got it cleaned out, but cannot get rid of the smell inside. Tried everything suggested on line. Called GE and they sent a repairman out. He connected his computer to the unit and said a software update was needed which he did. The diagnosis told him that before we replugged in the unit, the temperature was set at 100 degrees. When we left it was at 37 degrees. He had no idea why it stopped. He told us that GE would not replace it because it is working. But he gave us their number to call.

Today I called. I was told that since the refrigerator was working that they won't replace it. If it was broken and could not be repaired they might. I explained that obviously there had to be something wrong or it would not have quit working. No sympathy from the rep. She said there was nothing they could or would do. We feel we really can't leave home for an extended period of time because the same thing might happen again. The fact that they have no clue why it stopped makes no difference to them. Right now, for now, it works. This is an inferior product and it is completely unacceptable that they have no responsibility for correcting a defective product.

Unbelievably six months after the 5-year warranty runs out, it appears we have major problems with both. I understand these units have particular problems in the south. Tech came out and replaced the inlet valve and fooled around in the ice maker compartment. Needless to say several months later water was flooding the kitchen again. Looked in the ice maker compartment and noticed the small hole that feeds the tray was frozen shut. The design flaw allows the unit to keep trying to fill the tray even though the water merely runs down to the floor since the hole is frozen shut. We keep a water alarm on the floor under a $3000.00 refrigerator.

Recently the augur that dispenses the ice also went out. Called GE to complain and they have never heard of these kind of problems and cannot troubleshoot without a tech coming out. Naturally I would be responsible for paying for the Tech. They really don't seem to care that we spent over $7000.00 on GE appliances in our new home. Why in the world would I keep pouring more money into a product designed so poorly it could cause MOLD in our house by overflowing water. Perhaps if people joined together there could be some kind of class action lawsuit. July 9, Local repair shop came and repaired refrigerator. Took maybe 30 minutes. I called the Food Loss Claim Line and was told they only cover a maximum of $100. First, if GE KNOWS there is a problem with this appliance, why not do a recall or at least fix them as they are sold? I've had this refrigerator for less than 3 mos. Second, if they know the issue and are sending a repair company out, why not give them a heads up and send the part ahead of time instead of wasting everyone's time. Third, I did A LOT of research before replacing all of my appliances with this profile model. I made a HUGE mistake.

The dishwasher has not shut correctly since day one. They says it's installed correctly but you have to hold it shut until the latch catches, and even then half the time it kicks back out. The oven does not seem to cook evenly. I have not called about this yet as I just assume it's my own lack of cooking skills but the more I use it the more I think it's the appliance. She called me on June 16th to see how everything was but called my house even if I always asked them to contact me at my cell phone first (**). So I was not home but called her back (her machine, of course) and thank her for checking on us, thinking she was really concern but obviously she was not. Have NOT received anything from GE and I have called "my consumer case manager" with no response for 3 days. They are the ones facing the clients and cut in the middle of all the frustration. All this can be verify with the technicians in my case and I guess only then since most of the bad relations happening come to find out they are leaving out of the computers and not everything is being documented. Wonder if is intentionally. We had extended warranty but that is not of GE concern, obviously. If my consumer manager wouldn’t suggested that I could buy a small refrigerator for the total of over 3 weeks with all the mistakes and confusions from GE company, I would not invest in that and our decision of action about this problem and lack of attention would it be completely different.

Please save yourself the aggravation of purchasing a GE Monogram Refrigerator. Our refrigerator is 7 years old and originally cost around $6000. Since installing it during a kitchen renovation, we have spent close to $1500 on repairs and I can only guess at least that much on ruined food. It is simply a terrible appliance. We have had repeated issues with it just ceasing to work - no warning, just stops chilling and freezing.

In addition, the customer service and repair side of things is even worse. With our latest breakdown (following a $500 repair 7 months ago) I scheduled an appointment and waited 4 hours for someone to come. When they no-showed I was told that I had not responded to an automated call confirming the appointment so they had rescheduled without notifying me. Utterly ridiculous. After waiting all day for the service tech to revisit a problem that had supposedly been fixed a month ago, he called to say he wouldn't come to work on the refrigerator because there was no "sticker" indicating the model and serial number. Over the past several years, the sticker had been worn off during interior cleanings. I called to verify this with GE at 800-444-1845 and they agreed that if there was no sticker to indicate the model number, they wouldn't have a tech work on it. I asked if the tech could come and attempt to determine the model but the GE supervisor became a parrot repeating what she had just said and refused to offer any suggestion or have a tech at least look to determine the model.

NOTE: They've worked on all my appliances including this refrigerator but now that I've got some lazy ** who wants to end his day early, they won't now or in the future work on my refrigerator. Through my research it's just the thermostat and I don't expect I should have to pay for it. And, the dishwasher has a flapper issue which I am yet to get, should be in a day or so but I Youtubed it and cleaned all the water - went with a Hookah pipe to suck the water out. GE is comping me the parts which the repairman quoted me $1,225.00 and labor at $100.00 (my responsibility).

I read from other poster's comments that this issue will happen again. I contacted GE, advised them of the cost and suggested that I apply my labor cost towards the purchase of a new microwave. I was shot down. New microwave $750.00 vs. paying $1225 for parts??? If I were a GE shareholder I would be outraged at this type of irresponsible spending. I have learned to buy my produce as I need it or at least no more than what we can eat in about 3 days. Leftovers 2 days tops as not to overcrowd. You can stuff the shelves on the doors without any effect, but stuff the fridge and it is ice city. My milk has been slushy for 3 days as I bought more fresh veggies and fruit than usual. Found out the problem was a build up of mold in the water line - at least that is what he said. We were over charged for parts & labor = $56 in parts & $177 for labor for a total of $233. I have since discovered we could have completed the same repairs for $20 ourselves & in less than an hour. So a mistake on my part & could have been happy with calling it a learning experience but: the ice maker was still only making 6 cubes of ice while it was designed to make 8. I asked the service tech to adjust it to make 8 cubes & he refused! After a $233 house call, he said it was too dangerous, how ridiculous. I did a little research & discovered how easy to increase the water flow myself & without any issue - soon had 8 full cubes of ice rolling out.

It has been some time since this repair & we have become much more savvy home owners since, perform many home repairs ourselves now. Would have posted before now but felt a bit embarrassed for allowing myself to be taken advantage of. Doubt we will buy GE again, which is a shame since it was this service tech that ruined the GE line for us. Never ever contact GE Consumer Home Services for a repair. In the first 24 hours, the refrigerator froze and exploded coke cans blowing coke all over the fridge. GE didn't think this was a problem, but it also froze produce and after 4 months and many service calls and complaints they brought me a different fridge which really was no better. Within 2 years the plastic water line that runs RIGHT next to the compressor, destroyed the plastic tube allowing water to seep into my new wood floors causing permanent damage. We repaired the floor and fridge ourselves, but one leak was not enough for this fridge.

Less than 2 years after tearing out the wood and putting more new wood in kitchen and living room, another part failed causing a slow drip of water at the rear of the fridge, undetectable to us until the floor started to slowly heave in the living room. Found the different leaky part and replaced it but the floor only got worse over time and did not relax, destroying the same area for a second time in the kitchen, and a big new section in the living/dining room on our home!!! Our original GE fridge, purchased in 1985 when we bought our house is in our mud room and has never needed to be repaired. We figured when that one died, we'd move this horrible profile out there and replace it but the old one won't die and the profile got us with water damage a second time.

The GE premium oven would stop running and beep in the middle of cooking dinner but GE knew nothing of why it would do that. The service tech came out and knew immediately what it needed, an expensive new board - then no more problems. The shelves are plastic and break easy due to poor fit... All around very cheap construction. Dishwasher had a recall that we were not notified of. Called a tech and he said this model heating element supports were bad. This is After Our kitchen Flooded and floor was ruined... GE did take care of this problem and reimbursed us for damage and replaced dishwasher with a stainless steel tub. Very disappointed in GE as they were always known for quality and long lasting products. So Sorry to see Top American Brand go Downhill...

I purchased a new GE Profile french door refrigerator, stainless steel, etc in October 2013. Thankfully I did get an extended warranty. The model I bought must be possessed. The first complaint was for noisy operation which took two service calls to get a fan motor replaced. Another call for noisy operations and the technician downloaded upgrades to the unit. Now the unit shuts off for no reason and I am awaiting another service call. This is a LEMON and should be recalled.

Though I haven't had any problem with the GE Cafe refrigerator after six months, I do feel the design of the interior space is awful. I have a 21 cubic foot refrigerator but about 4 cubic feet is taken up by ludicrously thick plastic shelving, trays and "cubbies." Rather than have a wire shelf in the doors, GE provided these massive hanging shelves that limit your options for storage. With better design, you could put six or even twelve more bottles in the doors. We purchased the model without the water and ice dispenser in the door just to have more refrigerated space. If you purchase those options, I can't conceive where you would put anything!

Then there are three plastic drawers, I guess they are vegetable crispers in the lower part of the refrigerator. One full width drawer is so shallow that the ratio of structure to create the space approaches 1 to 1. It is a horrible waste of storage capacity. Same with the crispers, excess plastic dividers and drawer guides waste valuable space. Then there is this one half shelf that slips back on itself with the slightest nudge. Anything resting on this trick shelf ends up on the floor. It is like the designers are playing a joke on the hapless souls who purchase this disaster.

I've also discovered that I don't like the under freezer compartment. It too is loaded with unusable space due to dividers and drawer hardware. I also don't like digging down through layers of frozen stuff looking for what I want. Much better to tunnel horizontally through a top mounted freezer. I looked at some of the other reviews and the litany of expensive repairs to new refrigerators. If I'm faced with a repair, this puppy is out the door. A high-school shop class could design a more functional refrigerator.

GE Refrigerator GFE28HMHES 27.7 CU Foot - We recently brought all new appliances and decided to go with the GE because of their Slate finish. We love the range, dishwasher and microwave but have been disappointed with the refrigerator. The refrigerator is new on the market due to its size. It is 27.7 Cu foot in size but due to the size it is very loud. Every time the compressor comes on it has a high pitch sound that hurts your ears and almost drives you insane. At times you just want to unplug it and make it stop. We did have GE come out and they put some box type thing over it to quiet it. It did help somewhat but it is still annoying at times. We really have no problems or complaints with the appliances at this time but please make the refrigerator quieter. I would not recommend it for anyone that is sensitive to sounds. It will drive you crazy.

Bought a GE profile fridge in 2012 for close to 2,000 dollars. In MID 2014, it cost over 1,000 dollars in repairs..... first it started making a loud funky noise, which cost 600 dollars to repair. Then 3 months later, the motherboard blows out, 200 dollars worth of food goes bad, and it cost another 400 to repair, plus the 200 to replace all the food lost. I will never ever in my life purchase another GE product again, and I will tell every single person I know on this planet to never ever buy a GE product. It is not worth the stress, money, and time of day. I am obviously LIVID about this. My 30 year old fridge downstairs runs perfectly. 30 years old!!!!! And the new GE fridge is 20th century, bought in 2012. Absolutely unacceptable.

I purchased an entire new kitchen of GE Adora appliances less than 3 months ago from Home Depot. My $2900 refrigerator has already been replaced once (icing over on the bottom and then leaking onto the wood floor). I have now been on the phone for over 30 minutes to schedule a repair on the new refrigerator AND my stove AND my dishwasher (the first available time they have is a week from now). The burner shuts off on the stove in the middle of cooking. The GE brochure states that the glass top retains the heat - it does not! Mine is going completely cool and then hot and then cool again. Not exactly ideal cooking conditions. My dishwasher goes through a complete 2 hour cycle and then releases the detergent during the drying stage. I will NEVER own another GE Appliance!

I purchased all GE appliances for my lower level kitchen only to have my refrigerator installed to not work properly. I called for a service tech to come and repair issue due to the fridge not cooling. Would stay at 48 degrees and the freezer was registering -21. The tech came out said there was an issue with the motherboard and fixed problem, so I thought. Fridge started cooling, tech told me to wait a few hours and I could put food back in fridge. It seemed to be working just fine so I put milk, pop, and food back into fridge.

The next morning I realized that the fridge had froze and then heated back up making the milk explode all over the inside of the fridge down into the freezer, into all the vents and components inside the fridge, which you cannot get to to clean. I placed another call to service tech and he returned. He told me the smell was so terrible that he could barely work on the fridge. He called the technical support team explained to them that this is his second time in the last two days called to repair the appliance. The tech and his tech support figured out that the lines that cool the fridge and freeze the freezer were hooked up wrong right from the manufacturer.

So, the tech told me I could refuse service and ask for a new appliance due to the horrible smell that was caused by a defect from GE. Well now, I have called numerous times to a case Manager and she informed me that I did not purchase the replacement plan. I wasn't offered a replacement plan and who would have thought I would have need to replace a fridge I just purchased. Anyone been offered a replace plan when you have bought an appliance??? The case manager said I only have a warranty for replacing parts.

So, now that I see there are numerous reports on the poor quality of these appliances I am writing to the Better Business Bureau and possible start further actions. I am truly disappointed in the craftsmanship and lack of customer service the GE has provided. I will NEVER recommend GE products to anyone. And I am terrified because I purchased the dishwasher, microwave, and gas stove that all matched the LEMON REFRIGERATOR! I have another service call scheduled for tomorrow and I will continue to fight to have this issue resolved. Also, I had family members and friends that were going to purchase these same items. After the lack of service I have received and lemon quality of product they have all changed minds! Also, if you have had food spoil in fridge there is a number you can call to report the loss, just fyi.

My GE Profile PFSS9PKYASS broke for the last time. Last March a coolant line leaked, causing the fridge to warm. Although it was replaced under warranty, the loss of groceries contained therein was costly. This past Thursday the fridge breaks down again causing some food to spoil, but luckily we were home and were able to move items to a small freezer unit we have in the garage. Had we not been prepared, we would have lost groceries again. I am not going to wait until this unit tries to break down on us again. Two breakdowns in a little over a year's time frame is ridiculous. We junked it and purchased a different refrigerator.

I have NEVER had a fridge breakdown until owning this "premium" unit made by GE. Usually a person buys a fridge and it lasts a lifetime. My parents avocado green Amana fridge from the early '80s was still alive and kicking (with no repairs) when they finally decided to upgrade last year. Needless to say, I will never be purchasing another one of GE's appliances in my lifetime.

We are extremely dissatisfied with our GE refrigerator (Model # DFE29JSDDSS), we've had numerous issues within the first year of ownership (January 2014). GE technicians have visited 5-10 times within the first year, some issues have been resolved while others are not considered issues by GE as they are deemed normal/within specs.

Our first issue was a leaking water dispenser. A technician's original diagnosis was that perhaps air was trapped in the line, or air was somehow making its way into the system. The solution was to caulk each tube connector, both on the exterior/rear and interior of the refrigerator. This failed to resolve the issue, so another tech came to visit. Upon confirming the dispenser was still leaking, the tech ordered a new "leak kit" that wasn't available (at least was never mentioned to me) during the initial visit. The kit was received at my house, and the tech had to come out a 3rd time now to install it.

Once installed the kit seemed to work very well for several months, however now we are getting a water droplet hanging on the dispenser (sometimes falling and sometimes not). I have been told that this is normal and within specification, which is unacceptable to me. Several family members have GE refrigerators and their dispensers do not have water droplets form after each use.

The 2nd issue was condensation (about the size of a Quarter) on the exterior of the refrigerator door multiple times during September 2014, above the water dispenser where the ice compartment sits in the door. The issue occurs when it was humid during the summer even though our air conditioning was running in the house, again something that I have never seen on other stainless steel refrigerators. The technician visited again shortly after, the condensation issue was not occurring at the time of the visit. The tech said he had never witnessed this before, however disagreed with me that the problem possibly could be a void in the door insulation.

Again not witnessing the condensation personally, the tech performed a software update on the refrigerator which "possibly could resolve" the issue. To me the software update appeared to be a solution to appease me and not necessarily address my issue, as well as the timing of it appearing to be very coincidental. I fully expect the condensation to reoccur next summer and will hope that I can magically have a tech visit on a day when it does. Again this is an issue that I have never seen before, and in my opinion means there is a defect in the door.

Third issue is the noise the refrigerator makes, noting that the noises actually changed after the software update. There was a particular high pitch noise now that was not too bothersome to me, however was somewhat unbearable to my wife (again this noise never occurred prior to the software update). The technician again visited and just said everything was normal and that was it, nothing he or I could really do. The noises consistently seemed to change slightly and continued to appear abnormal and nothing that we had ever heard from any refrigerator before, and scheduled another tech visit.

The tech arrived and said a condenser kit (turned out to be a sheet of metal lined with foam that surrounds the condenser) was now available. The prior tech mentioned nothing of the kit, so it was ordered. The kit was shipped to my home and the tech returned thereafter to install it. I agree the kit did "muffle" the noises slightly, but they are still much louder than anything I've witnessed before. In addition to the compressor noise, there seems to be an additional gurgling/chirping noise. This particular noise is not present whenever the technician uses his laptop to manually run through the different cycles of the compressor/system, it only occurs during "normal" use.

I again called out a tech with the noises still being abnormal in our opinion, however there was nothing further that could be done since everything was normal. GE finally got tired of me calling about the noises, again stating that they are normal and within specification. The unit is working fine and all of my issues are cosmetic, basically telling me I'm too picky. After numerous calls with customer relations, they agreed to have a 3rd party repair service visit.

The tech visited and listened to my concerns as well as inspect the unit. After discussing with his supervisor the next solution was to use insulating tape. He went ahead and installed tape around both the refrigerator and freezer coils via the interior of the unit, as well as installed tape near the condenser on the rear of the refrigerator. While the refrigerator was pulled out from its typical location (and after the tape was installed) the same noises were still very apparent (and obviously louder with the back of the unit exposed). This was the next solution and the tech said there is nothing else he can do.

Other issues I've had or still have: The freezer drawer scraping the bottom of the door hinges. Multiple modifications were done to raise and lower the doors themselves, resulting in the issue reoccurring. Ultimately a tech adjusted the freezer drawer tracks to the lowest setting possible and the issue has been fine since. Yellow insulation visible on the edges of the refrigerator doors. Varying sizes of gaps between doors and the freezer, the faces of the doors not being flush with one another, the freezer drawer itself being shift to the left, all being told 1/4 inch tolerance is acceptable. The GE logo coming loose and popping out of the refrigerator door, it was replaced. Slow water dispensing, again being told this is normal (filter has been replaced as I was told to do).

Needless to say I have serious lingering concerns. How can "fixes" be available in the weeks following initial tech visits that weren't previously available. What are these fixes (caulking tubing joints, wrapping the compressor with a "blanket") going to do to the overall lifespan of this refrigerator, specifically since the unit is only 14 months into service? GE reiterating that these noises are normal and within specification (even though there is no testing being done, basically being my word versus theirs), and I will mention once again that they are nothing that I have ever heard before on other refrigerators. GE says that the noises are acceptable and actually mean the unit is working properly, this refrigerator has many compressor cycles making it more efficient (but perhaps a tad louder) than previous models. The condensation issue will undoubtedly arise again.

The Customer Relations group has been both hit or miss with regard to my overall satisfaction. The first representative that was assigned to me gave the impression that I would have a great overall experience with GE. Specifically stating that based on the number of tech visits and notes about the refrigerator itself within the system, GE would likely replace the unit. However a few tech visits and unreturned phone calls later, I was told that rep was no longer assigned to me (or not with Customer Relations anymore).

The next rep assigned to me again was not the best at returning phone calls. The CR team has provided 2 checks as compensation for my trouble, the 1st being a courtesy and the 2nd after I complained when techs did not arrive as scheduled 3 consecutive times. 1st the tech got sick, 2nd the dispatcher failed to actually schedule my visit, and the 3rd time when the tech said he "knocked" on my door instead of using the doorbell as I would expect any visitor I didn't know personally (of which the tech actually noted that he "knocked without a response" and left while also noting that "he would be unable to return because my house was outside of his typical zone").

This particular tech was actually the last from GE that I've had visit, as he returned a few days later after rescheduling. When he left he said that he had raised my concerns to GE Corporate (specifically stating the group was above normal Customer Relations), only to be told that CR was the highest authority. I can also say the GE did extend my warranty for another 1 year which I am grateful for, however they specifically said the warranty covers the operation of the refrigerator (cooling and freezing properly, keeping temperature, etc.) and not cosmetic issues.

I can say that I would not recommend GE based on my experience...obviously. Whether I have a lemon of a refrigerator or I'm too picky, the unit I have does not meet the expectations I had when it was purchased. I agree the unit holds temperature and to that extent it works fine, however I cannot accept all of these other items within the 1st year as being normal. I feel as though it's a waiting game until something else goes wrong. I don't really have any other means of alleviating my concerns other than to write a review here, hoping that GE will take note and get back with me.

I’m not one who would normally write a consumer review, but since I do what I say I will do, I will step out of the norm here… Today I told the GE Appliance Customer Care that I would be sharing my experience on every forum available. I’m sure you can read the inference here – my experience has not been good. In December, my NEW GE Profile refrigerator was delivered. Less than 3 months later, it quit working.

The service tech arrived at 7 PM on a Tuesday night, after I called to inquire where he was (he was scheduled to be there by 5). I understand he got delayed, but what about calling to let someone know? I need a part, which means he has to come back. He let us know he only comes in our direction on Tuesdays and Thursdays and since he had to order a part, he would not be back until next Tuesday.

I called first thing Wednesday morning to ask what could be done to move the time frame up – after all, it’s a refrigerator and you would think this would have some level of priority? The representative was so very nice – in fact all of the folks have been very nice. But, don’t be deceived – they are trained to be nice and calming and tell you they care. But the truth is, I’m just a little pea in a big pod and no one really cares that my refrigerator is less than 3 months old and quit working over a week ago.

While they tell you they are doing all they can do, I assure you they are not. I learned that the tech had the option of having my parts delivered overnight and could have returned on Thursday to make the repair but like everyone else at GE, he does not care. I also learned that my issue, while being told was considered urgent, was not escalated to an urgent status.

I could cite many examples of the lack of customer service that I've had to deal with for the better part of a week, but I would go on and on. It is disappointing that the refrigerator quit after 2 1/2 months, but even more disappointing is the customer service. So, I will continue to depend on my YETI, I will share my experience on every consumer review and I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GE APPLIANCE.

We purchased a GE Counter-Depth refrigerator in the Summer of 2014. It arrived with a large dent in the front door, and with the freezer door handle broken on the left side. We received a second refrigerator a couple of weeks later - a brand new model at the time: PYE22PSHSS. We had it professionally installed and life was good. My portable thermometer read temperatures that were within 1 degree of the setting at several different points in the refrigerator cavity. All good.

Around week #8, the items on the top shelf started to freeze. Re-arranged things a bit, and the next day all items were back to un-thawed. However the thermometer showed a 3 degree difference between top and bottom shelves. "Weird", I thought, "but maybe it will go away". Around week #9, the frozen top shelf returned. The following day, the middle shelf froze, and then the bottom shelf, produce and cheese drawers on the third day. Re-arranged the items a little and increased the setting by 1 degree, and it went back to un-frozen.

It went back to having a 3 degree gradient, with the top shelf roughly in line with the setting and the bottom a bit warmer. This "normal operation" lasted two more weeks. And then one morning we woke up to find a 57F degree fridge. Re-arranged, emptied it out: nothing worked. Stayed 57F all day.

We called GE and they said they could send somebody in 7 weeks. My wife yelled very considerably at the person on the phone and her supervisor and his supervisor. They told her to call the local Sears, as they may be able to have somebody come sooner. She called Sears and said they couldn't help her, as they don't know how to bill GE Warranty Services to get paid. She called back to GE, and they asked her to buy a few bags of ice while awaiting repair. She said "it's 57 degrees, the ice will melt and leak onto the wood floors". "Oh, maybe you're right" the (fourth) GE person told her. Unfortunately, a proper response wasn't on his cheat sheet so we went back to "we can get somebody out there in 7 weeks".

Again with the supervisor, the manager and a little more colorful language. They were able to schedule a repair for two weeks from now. Everybody was very apologetic and sympathetic, but nobody could speed the repair process. Frankly we are not very interested in sympathy, we simply want a working refrigerator. Hence we are very frustrated and displeased with the pace and complexity in the process. So we are using our 35 year old (also GE by the way) refrigerator in the garage for now.

Very annoying that such a new product would stop functioning so quickly, and also dissatisfying that the warranty service is not prompt. We will see what happens next. Overall, I sure-as-heck wish we didn't buy a GE refrigerator. Now we know better, but too late, GE already got our money. Hopefully you out there who read these reviews learn not to give GE yours.

In 2011, we decided to upgrade our old workhorse Frigidaire side-by-side and purchased the GE French Drawer Refrigerator at Best Buy. When they delivered the refrigerator, it was so loud, you could not be in the same room as the refrigerator. The delivery drivers tried to convince me that it was normal and the noise would eventually go away. However, you could clearly tell that the fan was hitting the Styrofoam insulation. I insisted that they take it back and replace it. Few days later the new fridge arrived. It seemed perfect. Shortly after the warranty expired. The same thing occurred except much louder. This time, the fridge was freezing up from inside the walls, ice was coming out the air holes and the fan began hitting the ice build up. It was unbearable!

I called GE and they tell me that it was outside of the warranty and there was nothing they could do. I continued to raise hell on their twitter and FB page and finally someone from corporate called to say they would be willing to pay for the part if I would split the cost of the service charge (using their technician). I explained that I felt like it was a scam to keep their service people raking in the money... but reluctantly, I agreed to the $98 fee.

The service technician then arrived and said "I know what it is, I'll order the part and it will solve the issue for good." He stated that it was a known issue and it needed some filter and all would be good. I was happy! 9 months later, the same issue occurred on New Years Eve. I again contacted GE and they agreed to pay the service charge for the technician. He came out 20 hours after the confirmed appointment. He NEVER touched the fridge. He said "Yep, this is a different issue, it will be $371.27 to fix it. Do you want me to order parts?" I let him know it was same issue as before, frozen inside, puddle of water under bottom drawer. He refused to even look at the unit. He printed out a work estimate and said "Take it up with GE."

I contacted GE corporate who stood by his assessment of "It's a different" problem and said the would split cost. At this point, I am NOT spending another dime on this defective appliance. I personally feel that this is going to be an ongoing issue and they will continue to nickle and dime the consumer with constant repair charges. I would NEVER recommend GE Appliances to anyone looking to purchase household appliances. I can't imagine any refrigerator able to last only 3 years. Worse part is the horrible customer service and the argumentative attitude of GE service team and corporate representatives.

I made a repair request to GE fix my Arctic Refrigerator in late October. A lady technician arrived on time, she appeared to be knowledgeable, efficient and personable. She fixed a water leak in a plastic tube feeding the Water Dispenser by replacing it, but only partially. The feed line from a valve directly to the Water Dispenser itself she did not replace. However, it was in the same degraded condition as the one she did replace. We were on visiting family overseas Nov. 2014 until mid Dec 2014 so we did not use the refrigerator during that time.

Over Xmas the Refrigerator started to leak again. I called GE and they told me the guarantee was only 30 days, so it had expired. I had to arrange another service call again and spend another $178.00 which could have been avoided had the Technician used some logic when examining the plastic tube that she replaced. Why didn't she at least check the reminder of the water line? The plastic tube that she removed would snap off just by flexing it, obviously needing a full replacement. GE's product quality has always been suspect and evidently so is their service. I am pretty disgusted by GE and I am a GE retiree which makes it even more sad!

Never buying GE again as soon as I am able to have the right to decide. I'm probably just going the throw out my food and turn it off and not use it, seeing as I am not allowed to purchase my own appliance. I lived for 7 years in the bush of Africa without one. I guess I will have to live here that way too. Sucks but it is what it is. No cold food is better than noise torture.

Re refrigerator, upper fridge door, lower freezer door, 20.3 cubic ft. Artistry series Ser # TA311398. Bought May 6, 2014. Sold by Tucson Appliances, Ltd, of Tucson, AZ. After 3 months of hoping it would stop, I finally complained to the dealer by written letter about the freezer door popping open every time I closed the upper door. I requested an exchange because I had other complaints about the design and function. With no answer after 2 weeks, I went to the store where I was told they'd received it but didn't know what to do about it. They sent a GE rep finally who told me it couldn't be fixed, couldn't be re-leveled (I thought maybe it wasn't leveled right) and that many customers just put a metal latch on the side! How absurd! But it indicated others had the same problem with this model.

Also, the upper door kept closing on me whenever I tried to put in or take out items from the fridge. A Tucson Appliances serviceman came days later and said that was ridiculous, and said he would re-seal the gasket. He ordered a new seal which arrived in 3 weeks. He came to install it but it didn't work; finally, on Nov. 5, he came back with new instructions to heat-seal it. That worked. Meanwhile, I had told him also that I couldn't withdraw the freezer basket. He ordered a new basket (apparently there had been similar complaints by others) and installed that. He also brought two half-width shelves to replace one full-width shelf - he said they should have come with the refrigerator, not two full-width shelves. However, the shelves didn't fit and he re-scheduled a visit for Nov. 10 to bring the right half-width shelves and re-level the product. He never appeared and still has never called to re-schedule a visit. After many unanswered phone calls I wrote to the store owner, Chris **, on Dec. 8. I have not received any answer.

I detest this machine, which cost me $1,220.95 (incl. tax), and would still like a refund. I would have accepted an exchange but I want nothing to do with this store that doesn't understand the word "service." I have several more complaints about the design and function of this product: Upper door does not stay open as desired; The refrigerator sticks out nine inches from the counter, eleven inches including the ungainly handle. My last fridge only stuck out four inches; The freezer door has virtually no shelf space, only a tiny space on upper left of door - which often sticks into items on the top shelf and keeps the door open; The chrome handles are ungainly, hard to use, stick out too far; The refrigerator came with two full-width shelves and should have come with one full, two half-width; One crisper drawer has now broken on its rim and cannot slide in and out - useless; The freezer section should be a drawer not a door. It is impossible to look into freezer or re-arrange contents without sitting or kneeling on the floor. Like many people, I have bad knees and that is painful.

GE should be ashamed of producing such an inferior product. If I do not receive a refund, I plan to advertise everywhere I can to discourage people from using Tucson Appliance and buying GE merchandise. From the customer comments I've read, I see that GE is not a popular manufacturer and does not seem to understand that bad response will eventually lead to its downfall. I will certainly never buy any GE again - nor use its dealer, Tucson Appliance. What a waste of money.

We purchased a GE French-door refrigerator in 2013. In Nov. 2014 the lower drawer was freezing everything in it. We called Warranty Co. and we had a repair man come out. He said it was the motor gone bad and he ordered it and came back to fix it. It still was freezing food so he came back and realized the door hinge was broke and had to order it. Now the water dispenser is totally frozen also. He returned to fix it and two days later, it wasn't any better so he came back out and talked to GE tech support and he reset the computer but it still is frozen, and tech support said replace the motherboard on the fridge. This has been going on since Nov. 11th 2014 and still is not fixed - GE cant ship until Jan. 14, 2015. I will never buy another GE again and pity someone who would. Please learn from my mistake. It should never take 3 months to fix a important appliance. Through all of this no one has ever attempted to seriously make good on such a piece of junk. The model is GFE29HSD.

We purchased a GE Monogram refrigerator which was installed on 5/24/2007, model number ZISS489DRAS, serial number FG039507. It has given us nothing but trouble, failing at least a dozen times since we bought it, and costing us thousands of dollars in repair bills, service contracts, and lost food. Not to speak of the time wasted dealing with repairmen, and the inconvenience of not having a refrigerator. It has also been unreliable in other ways short of failing, which has also cost us much time and many dollars in repair bills. Every part has been replaced at least twice, including lines, compressors, fans, motherboards, other electronic components, sensors, etc. I suggest you purchase a refrigerator/freezer thermometer; you will be amazed at how inaccurate the refrigerators temperature readings are.

One major problem is that the refrigerator is so complex that it is impossible to understand how it works, and so the technicians are either inadequately trained or just incompetent. The first four times the refrigerator failed was because of severe ice buildup. The technician accused us each time of leaving the door open, even though we insisted that was not the case, and telling us the only way to get the refrigerator working again is to defrost it for four days so that the ice will melt. It turns out that there was a leak in the insulation covering one of the lines, allowing humidity to enter the refrigerator. Fortunately for us, our technician was promoted, and the new technician diagnosed the problem right away. A little bit of silicone to cover the leaking insulation, and that problem was resolved.

The next time the refrigerator failed was because of oil from the compressor getting into the Freon lines. It took two technicians two days to clean out the lines and replace the compressor. The refrigerator worked for a while, then the lines draining the drain pan became plugged, and the refrigerator failed. After these were unplugged, it worked for a while and then the evaporator failed. After the evaporator motor and fan were replaced it worked for a while but then failed again. During each of these failures, the technician saw fit to replace the mother board. The next time it failed the technician could not come for some time, so I turned off the circuit breaker and left the doors open so the refrigerator would not smell. When I turned on the circuit breaker, the refrigerator began cooling and was working fine. It was working when the technician came. The technician could not find the problem, even with his computers. He did nothing.

The next time it failed, I noticed the discrepancy between the refrigerator/freezer thermometer and the refrigerators readings. Even though it was working by the time the technician came, he decided to change the sensors and the electronics controlling the sensors, hoping the discrepancy in temperature readings would be corrected, and maybe correct the problem. It then failed again, but this time I think I have figured out this latest problem. The compressor simply stops working. If you are lucky you see the temperature rising; turning off the circuit breaker and turning it on again gets the compressor to working again. But if you are out of town? There is still a marked discrepancy between the refrigerator/freezer thermometer and the refrigerators readings. And the refrigerator does not hold a constant temperature. It varies wildly, but within an acceptable range, so nothing needs to be done, except reset the desired temperature. This is unacceptable, to have to change the set temperature constantly.

We contacted GE for a replacement for this lemon of an appliance. They offered us 50% discount on a brand new GE Monogram. The original price is over $10,000 if purchased from GE. They would deliver the new one, install it, and take away the old one for a mere $5500. But you can buy a new one at one of the discount stores for less than that. So what are they offering us in compensation for all our expenses and inconveniences? We would much prefer some cash to purchase a different brand.

We built a home and designed our cabinetry around a GE fridge Cafe series side by side and bottom freezer pullout. The fridge was purchased and installed in July 2014. We had so many problems with it that it was replaced in 1 month's time by GE. We are now on our second one of the exact same series and there is something inherently wrong with this fridge. This one has had a new fan replaced, (btw there are 5 fans in this model) a new ice maker and the motherboard replaced. It freezes our food and defrosts almost everyday, so far as to freeze baby models of milk, fruit, jars of pickles the list goes on. GE has been out here to inspect multiple times and we have now received over $350 worth of food spoilage reimbursement and in fact they have now extended our warranty by 1 year. We had to fight for that in writing.

When they do come to service they come and hook up the laptop to some technical expert offsite who at one time while everything was frozen inside, told the onsite service technician that nothing was wrong and the temperature was accurate and to tell the customer he was done and would leave. You can't trick physics, everything inside was frozen no matter what the temperature stated and no matter what the offsite computer technician claimed. That was a slap in my wife's face exemplifying a complete disregard for customer service. In fact, I find it disgusting and disrespectful. If we didn't build our cabinetry around this thing, we would have changed a long time ago. I highly recommend you never purchase this particular version and the GE name (we are, now we're a GE family) is tarnished forever in our minds after the utter disrespect. We purchased a new stainless GE Profile refrigerator in 2011. Within one year, it stopped cooling, we lost all of our food, called the store where it was purchased (along with a range, microwave and dishwasher), and when the repairman came out, he said that the motherboard had gone out and would have to be replaced. We received a "loaner" which was connected in our garage. We waited over a week, repairman came back out, replaced the part and realized that was not the problem. We honestly don't know what all was replaced on the refrigerator, but we were without our refrigerator off and on for several months. We finally bought another one when we were told that the repairman was "stumped" and could not make it work for more than a couple of days. We lost hundreds of dollars worth of food each time it went out. We relied more on an old refrigerator that we keep in the garage than we could the $2,000 one that we had in our home. We were told that when they figured out what was wrong and could sale the old refrigerator, we would be reimbursed for what they sold it for.

We have now spent over $4,000 on GE refrigerators and feel that the company should have done something in the very beginning instead of allowing us to suffer through it continually breaking down. We are convinced that it was a "lemon" but after reading all of the negative comments about GE appliances, we are also convinced that we chose the wrong brand for our new kitchen. We saved for a very long time to be able to buy all new, matching appliances for our home and are very disappointed in the quality of the refrigerator. We are very happy with the range, microwave and the dishwasher. When it came time for a new washer and dryer, we purchased another brand because of the experience we have had with GE. We don't know if this will do a bit of good, but we are disappointed in a large company and the guarantee that did not work out the way it was presented to us when we spent all of the money in the first place. My husband is a high school teacher and we saved for years to remodel our kitchen and buy new appliances. Then in August 2014 the clip broke again, it was replaced by GE, had to have this installed myself.

Last year August 2013, the left door plastic clip broke. Had to pay for this door also and have installed. However, a few weeks, ago the clip broke again. Left door was informed that it was not under warranty and GE is sending me the gasket piece with the clip to have installed. I can't believe six doors constantly breaking. This is a faulty designed refrigerator and should have had a recall, have not seen any on the other models made like this. Am in the market for a washer/dryer. Am staying away from GE.

Received my new GE Refrigerator 3 weeks ago. Ordered it through Amazon. Vendor was HCCOST. came with dents in both sides and back but that was minor. The fun started when it was installed in my kitchen. We thought we were hearing a jet take off. The water came out warm, next ice flies all over the kitchen. Set it to give you 3 oz of water it gives you 8 - all screwed up. Don't know if it has been dropped or what is going on. HCCOST offered me $200.00 to shut up and go away. I paid $2,100.00 for this refrigerator. At my house that is a lot of money!!! Am praying AMAZON will help me with getting this thing returned. I chose GE because my last one I bought 17 years ago is still running great. We ordered new to update to stainless. Wish I had read the reviews before I got into this mess.

Did I mention NO COOLING? I called another service and they will come tomorrow. I had just spent $150.00 on meat and fish that will have to be thrown out. I bought a new stove and Refrigerator from GE on 9/30/2009. I had 5 service calls on the stove in the first year of owning it. Two of refrigerator drawers have broken and since they cost about $200 each I am holding off. I spent almost $2000.00 for this side by side refrigerator and cannot believe that the machine is not cooling. I have never had these problems with any other appliance I owned. I will never buy GE Appliances again.

We bought our GE Monogram (top of the line) refrigerator 4.5 years ago plus two ovens, a stove and dishwasher. So far, we've had 6 service calls during this time on the refrigerator. Last week was the 6th time we were visited by the service personnel. 3 days later the refrigerator broke down again. We once again called customer service. Had to wait a couple of days of course. We were then informed that all parts in this refrigerator had to be replaced and they would arrive the beginning of this week. The parts arrived. Evidently, we were on the low end of people to see. They are now scheduled 2 days from now. Does that make sense. We called customer service, we called public relations, we called GE's monogram department whom informed us that we would "probably" go to the top of the list for service. Wrong. We're still without service and without a refrigerator for 10 days. I would never, ever recommend GE because of the inferior product and the terrible service we have received is unbelievable. We are now scheduled for a service visit on Friday. Buy anything but don't buy GE. They really don't give a damn about their customers. Oh yes, we also have had to throw out a full refrigerator of food (twice).

I am reviewing the GE Profile French Door Counter Depth model PGCS1NFZASS. Purchased new from our builder in July 2011 for our new home. Home builders really push GE products!! Worked fine for 3 years then refrigerator temperature rose to over 50 degrees. Certified GE repairman thought the problem was the fan, then when another qualified repairman came to replace part, he said it was the motherboard and that sometimes the fan burns out the motherboard so we should replace both. About $600 to fix....maybe??

After reading many reviews on this site, we decided to not go down the road of expensive repairs and that it would be better to cut our losses. New refrigerator arrives in a few days. Opted for an LG model this time and purchased the 5 year protection plan at the strong recommendation of our excellent salesman at Home Depot. Gone are the days of thinking appliances will last and be dependable. I am thoroughly disgusted with GE - this was an expensive refrigerator and to last only 3 years before a major breakdown is a sad commentary on the state of manufacturing. We are a disposable society because of companies like GE that produce expensive trash that makes it more cost effective to replace than repair.

I purchased a GE Profile refrigerator with the freezer drawers on the bottom from Home Depot in June 2012. The salesman pressed me to buy an extended warranty from Home Depot and it's a good thing he did! It has never worked properly. It has always frozen the food in the refrigerator section and it has been impossible to store food properly from Day 1. Within the first year, it was under GE warranty, so GE sent a repairperson. He said the door that opens and shuts to let cold air in from the freezer sticks and he ordered a replacement unit and came and replaced it. It only worked for another four months or so. Scheduled a repair with Home Depot under the extended warranty. Came out and said "I don't see anything frozen so I can't help you" and left. Well, we threw away food as it froze so we could make room for food the family could actually eat.

Started keeping my produce on the kitchen counter instead of the refrigerator. Scheduled another repair. This guy said "Don't keep food on the same side of the refrigerator as the ice maker". Well, with a family of 5, it isn't feasible to use only half a refrigerator. Scheduled another repair. Home Depot sent GE this time. The guy told me he has the same refrigerator and solved the problem by plugging some of the air holes with white putty. He plugged the air holes and after he left I noticed the receipt he gave me made no mention of the putty trick but said "Explained temp controls to customer". I called Home Depot to complain and ask for a correct receipt and they said I had to deal with GE repairs myself. Can't get a return call from them.

Earlier this month I came home from vacation and the refrigerator was not cooling. The temp was in the 50s and there was frost all around the edge of the freezer. Scheduled another repair and the guy came and said "just so you know, your unit has almost no Freon." This was my fifth repair and I should have qualified for refund from Home Depot for the no lemon rule under the extended warranty. They are sending the repairman again to put Freon in the system. I asked him why it leaked in the first place and he said he didn't know. Home Depot won't agree to a refund under their no lemon policy. I think they are just trying to run the clock down on me and my extended warranty. It seems like there are many problems with GE profile refrigerators. Does anybody have any idea what to do next?

Technicians came out, could not find a leak, added freon (thereby voiding my warranty, another story) and charged me $900. It was quiet for a few months, but eventually began making loud humming noises again and went out again two weeks ago. Technicians still cannot find a leak, and I can either spend $2600 for a new compressor and computer board and hope for the best, or junk it. We are going to junk it. Now, this week, my 8-year-old $1800.00 piece of junk's compressor died and the repairman said not to spend the money. I guess I should be very lucky with all of the issues that are listed in regards to the unit not keeping cool. We purchased our GE Profile double door bottom refrigerator 3-1/2 years ago. Up until this past week we have had no issues with this unit. Recently we noticed that the freezer was not holding temperature. However the top refrigerator was holding temperature. So I got online and set up an appointment for a GE-certified tech would come out and service our unit. The trouble I ran into with that was it would be a week before someone could come out. After making the appointment I got home and checked the temps and both of the units had risen to over 50 degrees. So we took all of the items that were in the freezer out and took them to our freezer that we have in the garage. We are lucky that we have that to save the products we had in the freezer.

Now that it is going to 6 days before the scheduled tech is able to get to our home (from between 8 am and 5 pm which is crazy), I started looking for someone to get out sooner to service my unit. Found a local repair company that came out the next day. In the meantime, we had to save what was in the refrigerator so went out and bought 10-12 pounds of dry ice to keep the now great big stainless steel ice chest cold inside. The service tech said it was the inverter that was bad. SO $278.00 later, the inverter is installed and off the tech goes. Lo and behold, the unit is running and cooling down, yahoo; however about 6 hours later the temp has started going up again. This is now Saturday evening around 8:00 PM and no option to get the service tech back out until Monday. The temp had gone up to around 50 once again so back to the store to get more dry ice (not sure if you have had to purchase dry ice in a while but at $1.97 a lb. it has started to get rather costly to keep the unit cold as we wait once again for service). Now it could be either the circuit board or the compressor causing the issue. Either way, the costs are adding up to the point that what is being spent to repair we could buy a new basic unit which is crazy.

I cannot believe that an appliance that cost over $3000.00 is having issues at 3-1/2 years old. My old unit was over 15+ years old. There was not one issue ever and it only cost $800.00 new and at that time $800 was a pricey unit.

I am now waiting once again to get the unit repaired, more dry ice to keep what we have in the refrigerator cool. I am so upset that this high dollar unit is having issues in this short time frame of ownership. My next move is to call the GE customer service line and express my concerns with what we have in our home right now. This is model number PFCS1PJXASS, serial # GR 310430 for the record.

At this point I am a VERY unhappy consumer.

The new series of GE Refrigerators come equipped with rear non adjustable rollers and front adjustable ones. Believing that people are too careless to close the refrigerator door, GE has decided to put a severe tilt on its refrigerators so that the top leans toward the wall behind the refrigerator. You cannot, even on a level floor, get the refrigerator even close to level. I have had the unit for three weeks during which time two GE techs have come out to review the situation. Both agreed that the tilt is intentional. After much consideration, I installed two very large wedges with two sided tape so that the rear rollers ride up a ramp as I push the refrigerator toward the back wall. This should not be necessary. The door closing idea sounds great but will have you scrambling to pick up all the items that fell over when the door slams shut.

Purchase a GE Profile 26 cubic French door model. For the most part, it is really pretty good. Does not produce as much ice as I would like, but can work around that. However, the changing of the Water Filter is so stupid and poorly designed that it completely ruins any positive thoughts I have about the product. Ultimately, I end up having to have a tech come out to replace the filter (currently waiting for the 3rd one since the unit was purchased). When the tech comes out, they usually spend between 30 and 50 minutes working on the change out. This of course is after I have spent literally hours trying to do it and my wife about the same amount of time. There is no excuse for this poor design. When I call GE customer relations, they simply shine me on stating that they just have not had many complaints about the filter. Mind you, this is only a problem every 6 months or so. However, assuming that I have to call a tech every 6 months to do what should be a routine filter change, the cost to me over the next 10 years is over $2000.00. My model number is: PFE29PSDASS. BEWARE!

University Electric pawned me off to the GE helpline that is an almost endless phone tree. I was mad because it was noisy from day one. The GE rep came out and they didn't even bring a new door. They wanted me to schedule another appointment that costs me money to sit and wait. He stands there and just states that the noise level is normal. He doesn't have a noise reader, it is the company lie that they tell their customer. I am sorry I bought all GE appliances. I have a feeling they will all turn to crap in a year or two. During spring 2013, we noticed a click noise every so often, then daily clicking and temp problems. Apparently motherboard recall, but ours fell out of the scope for the recall... Took several calls and complaining to get a rep who would charge 50% less than the other reps for service. Now my compressor is overheating. Still offering discounts on the repairs... but this appliance is garbage. My 20-year-old, cheap base fridge is operating wonderful. Sits in my garage, deals with below zero record temps and over 90 temps. NO issues. GE should be ashamed of itself for selling this garbage!

I've had GE refrigerators before and in fact my last one was 7 years old and was still running great, we only replaced it to go with stainless steel to match other appliances. Bad mistake. We purchased a new GE side by side bottom freezer fridge after reading reviews and looking at brands in the stores. Some reviews said the fridge was noisy while others said it was fine. The GE was stylish so we purchased it and installed it January 2014. As other reviewers stated, it was noisy, VERY noisy. I learned there's several different fans that come on at various times and some of them are so noisy we have to turn the TV up in the adjoining living room when they turn on.

Within a few weeks we called about the noise and GE sent out a repairman who installed a "noise kit" to try and reduce the sound. Didn't make a difference. GE said loud fan noise is normal. (If it's normal then why do they make and offer to install "noise kits"?) Few weeks later, started hearing a loud buzz from the fridge and again a repairman came out and made an adjustment to a fan in the back. He too said these new GE's are noisy but it's normal.

Two months ago the fridge started making loud grinding noises then climbed to room temperature and ruined most of our food. GE said a technician could come out the following week. Seriously? A week when my fridge stopped working? We had to live out of an ice chest for a week and throw away $100 worth of food. Repairman came a week later but strangely enough the fridge started cooling again the day before he came. He said a defrost sensor must have failed freezing up a fan that cools the fridge and it must have thawed out and started working again. Replaced the sensor.

Last week I found the entire refrigerator section was frozen solid; liquids, produce, everything frozen solid. Called GE and again I was told "we can get someone out there next week". I told the customer service rep I just went through a cooling failure and lost food 2 months ago but she said there was nothing she could do. Again, I had to throw out ruined food; all our produce, milk, sour cream and other perishables. I had to unplug the refrigerator for 2-3 hours several times a day to keep from freezing up again. Temp on the front door showed 38 but a thermometer I put inside showed 12 degrees, in the refrigerator section! But then like the last time, the fridge started working normal again 2 days before the technician came out. When he came he hooked up a monitor and said he could only go back 2 days of operating data and it looked normal. I told him if GE had sent him out sooner than a week when the problem was occurring he would have been able to find the issue. He had no clue as to why the unit froze up and replaced the circuit board as a "process of elimination". So now I wait with my fingers crossed hoping the refrigerator doesn't fail a 3rd time in 6 months.

Four repair trips from GE in 6 months of owning this refrigerator. Not happy! I would have thought if I had 4 repair trips, 2 of them complete cooling problem failures in two months which caused food spoilage, GE might replace the unit as a lemon. But all I got offered was $100 towards a mini-fridge if I wanted to buy one to keep food cold for the week while waiting for a repairman. If they at least had sent someone out within 24 hours I would have been a little more satisfied thinking they really did care about their customers, but to have to wait a week without a working refrigerator?

Customer service representatives who answered the phones were friendly, understanding and tried to be helpful by offering a food credit and mini fridge credit both of which I refused, told them I didn't want the hassle and just wanted my refrigerator fixed. They were very understanding but their hands were tied as to my request for an appointment sooner than 5-7 days.

I'm afraid based on other reviews here, I'm in for more issues with this refrigerator. My last GE I had 7 years with no repair issues. This new one so far (4) service repairs in (6) months with two of those complete failures that ruined food. Be prepared to wait a week to have a technician look at an issue even if it totally stops cooling. The repairman said this was a whole new redesign concept with GE. I'd suggest anyone looking for a new fridge. Avoid GE till they get the bugs worked out on these "new concept" refrigerators. I have been a longtime GE customer but after this experience I will no longer trust the GE name.
