My GE refrigerator was purchased new in 1997. It still works like a charm. Never any problems. That in it self makes it a five star refrigerator. It will more than likely be my first choice when it finally quits working.

Roomy with plenty of shelf space and quiet. Could use moisture controls on the produce compartments. A compartment for cold cuts would be nice as an option or an expanded butter compartment on the door shelf would serve the same purpose.

We purchased an entire suite of GE Profile SS appliances for our kitchen. The refrigerator began to fail within a year, including the ice maker. GE was out so many times it was clear the refrigerator was not worth trying to repair. GE provided a few hundred dollars credit on a new, different model. So far, it has given us intermittent problems and service people have been out on multiple occasions. The ice maker fails and puddles of water accumulate on the horizontal top shelf of the drawer freezer and on the inside center front of the refrigerator, in front of the crisper drawers. Not overjoyed, but it is now out of warranty and at least it still cools.

Took a week to get a repair man out to say it was a faulty unit. Another week passed before they delivered another one. Called the same day because that unit was not cooling. Did get a repair man out the next day. He deemed it faulty as well. Am still waiting for a replacement. Don't buy a GE.

I like this refrigerator a lot and it broke only one time and it was about $220 to fix which wasn’t bad. The only problem is that sometimes things in the refrigerator part get really cold almost to the point where it is almost frozen. We are not sure why this happens and we had a service person come to check it out and he said we can’t put a lot of things against the back wall of the fridge so we try not to do that and so far it hasn’t froze anything. But I do like the style of our refrigerator and we had this fridge for 10 years.

The ice maker is very loud and occasionally needs to be tweaked. If it gets barely out of line with the water line that feeds it, it will not work properly. The refrigerator door continues to drop (which makes it lower than and uneven with the freezer door) so it feels poorly made, even though it looks good. I've had repair person fix this issue twice.

Always -- at a normal temp setting, vegetable drawers useless for vegetables as they freeze. This is bottom freezer style & handle falls off on a regular basis. Difficult to clean bottom of fridge under freezer compartment. Why don't I get rid of it? Well, cost of replacement! Never again a GE - any appliance.

The other is upstairs apartment. The problem with this fridge is RUST!!!! The white finish is horribly speckled with red rust spots. Not very attractive. These fridges were entry level. Bought at Home Depot for around $3-400$. each. Today, unfortunately, ALMOST everything you buy, especially American made, is junk! No more quality, and will get worse. My advice? Get the cheapest items you can find, check all reviews on product, then make decision based on cheapest.

It is a 15.3 cu feet side-by-side; the top area of the refer side has a bulky light cover that interferes with what you can put on the top shelf. We lost our old refrigerator to a lightning strike and had to get a new one ASAP, and it had to be counter depth, a great ice maker, side by side, and not be a SS finish. My wife and I hated our old SS one but liked everything else on the old unit so we went looking for a new one that met these requirements. What a chore, this was not an easy unit to find as most everything now has a bottom type freezer. This was defiantly out of the question.

We also have a Frigidaire in our garage and it is so loud I can hear it even with a car running beside it, so that brand was out of the question. Our choices were limited but we found a slate black GE side by side counter depth and had it delivered. What a great find. This is quiet and the configuration is well laid out and the black slate finish is just the thing with a lot of people using the system. We get a lot of company as weekend guest and have not ran out of ice once. The system is six months old not as we are pleased with everything, but would have liked to see just a little more room on the door shelves, but the lower drawer takes the overflow of almost everything we seldom use. I would buy this one again in a heartbeat.

I have a stove/oven that was bought at the same time and it broke after three days. They finally replaced it because they couldn't fix it now. I'm trying to get them to replace this refrigerator now because they can't fix this. I wouldn't buy this model or even any thing GE anymore unless you don't mind your food going bad in 2-4 days. Also when they send out their techs to order parts every part has always been on back order, that alone should tell you something.

I bought a new refrigerator approximately 8 months ago, just after GE launched their new CAFE line. Since the beginning refrigerator was giving me issues, occasionally spoiling my food. To help solve this issue I would lower the temperature further. Occasionally I would get a notification on my GE application stating again that there was a temperature increase. Roughly one month ago I woke up to a not working ice maker and leaking fridge with melted food inside, I called GE and they scheduled a technician to come to my house. The technician changed the motor, during the visit the technician was making comments such as, that an ice maker is considered a luxury, as well as, that we live in an area where it is hard to find parking so he no longer wants to come here and will never come again because my refrigerator caused him such a headache.

Exactly two days later my ice maker AGAIN stopped producing ice, I called GE again, and now they ordered a new ice maker and set up an appointment with a technician to come install it. Technician NEVER showed up to the previously confirmed visit and even texted me that he is on his way. Then after me sitting and waiting at home ALL day, taking a day off of work, I got a message stating that technician left because there was nobody home and he even tried to ring the doorbell multiple times, I checked my buildings camera footage and no technician ever showed up. I called to reschedule and it is happened AGAIN the following day. I wasted two day off from work while my patients are depending on me to come. When I finally decided that enough is enough, I complained about this technician to GE.

They scheduled another technician to come to my house. After he finished he ran some tests, stating that the temperature in my refrigerator is 68 degrees and his computer is showing that I keep my refrigerator door open for more than 20 minutes at the time, after I stated that this is absurd (it is nearly impossible to leave door open in this smart fridge considering it would beep endlessly and close on its own) The technician stated that we probably don't notice that it is open and I stated again that it's impossible because of the magnet that pulls the doors shut. I asked him to demonstrate how I could possibly leave this fridge open. He got angry and bursted out telling me to relax, in Russian. He left and wrote a note that customer yelled at him and to order MORE parts.

During that time I called GE endlessly, spoke with countless supervisors/managers, everyone keep telling me that unit has to be labeled as unrepairable in order to exchange the unit. As a customer I have a right to buy PROPERLY working products and not be given defective units who from the get go need to be repaired. This unit was from a new collection, not on sale, not floor sample, very expensive, I feel my rights were violated, I have expensive food loss. GE provided me with a check for $100 and stated that I can go to Walmart and temporarily buy a portable fridge until they fix this one. I have already had two part replacements. FOUR times a technician has come to my house and GE scheduled ANOTHER visit next week where they plan to replace the thermostat. I AGAIN have to take a day off of work to wait for a technician that may or may not show up with no reimbursement for my profit lost.

GE has no limit for the amount of visits until they admit that unit is not repairable. This is basically stating that if you are not lucky enough to buy a good unit that they are going to service this unit until the warranty expires and later you are on your own. This is a violation of my customer rights and I feel that such a company as GE has to take a responsibility and stop torturing their customers. I have to continue to open my house to strangers who force me to spend entire days at home, I feel extremely uncomfortable seeing another stranger in my house as as single female. I spent endless hours with helpless representatives on the phone, I feel as though sometimes they put me on mute. No one is listening.

I am living a nightmare. I don't understand why I have to repair a defective unit. I will not purchase GE again, none of my friends will purchase GE, none of their friends will purchase GE. I don't understand why such a huge company would put me through such a nightmare. I spent a lot of money and was hoping to enjoy my new fridge. Instead I don't have an opportunity to even store food for my family and dog and must buy ice from my local store. They should be embarrassed.

I purchased a GE refrigerator, model # GNE27JMMAFES from the local Home Depot for a total if $1546.78. It was delivered June 8, 2019. I immediately noticed my bottled water was not as cold as it has been for the past 30 years. I drink about 10 bottles a day. I had the temperature set at 38 so after a few days I lowered it to 36 and still had the same problem. I left it on 36 for a week and my wife then asked me if I noticed the bottled water is not cold enough, so she noticed it too without me saying anything to her. I then turned it down to 34 and placed a thermometer inside to monitor the temperature. The temperature would fluctuate from 34 to 42 degrees. Our kids are grown and gone. It is just me and my wife so the doors are not frequently opened. Two times the temperature was 42 the first thing in the morning after the doors were closed for 11 hours.

On June 25 I called GE to have a tech come check it out. He arrived on June 28. When I explained the problem to him he said it was normal for temperatures to fluctuate and he gave several reasons why, including opening the doors, something with the evaporator, air flow etc. I told him that I have never had an experience with any of the five previous refrigerators I have owned. I told him that the water bottles were noticeably warmer than they should be. He said to move them to a different location inside the refrigerator to see if that would help. He said there was nothing he could do. He took off a plate on the back and said that the fan was working properly as was the refrigerator. He tested nothing on it and said it was normal. This must be the first normal refrigerator I have ever owned I guess. He said there was nothing he could do and he left.

I then went to Home Depot who would not take it back. The salesman agreed that something was not right and he called GE and got the basic lip service. They told him they would send out another tech on July 8th. I just spent over $1500 on an appliance which is sub standard and defective at best. Being retired and on a fixed income I can't afford to go buy a different brand to replace this new one. I contacted GE cares this morning via e-mail and explained the problem and requested a full refund and for them to come and get their defective refrigerator. I am waiting for a rep to contact me. We all know how that is going to go. I will never purchase any GE product again and would suggest you do the same.

I owned the 2009 model and it was a nightmare from the beginning. Dampers in the quick chill system would strip every single year. I believe due to poor design of the auto defrost where moisture would collect on the door and freeze it in the closed position. When the damper would then try and open, it would strip the internal gear. After 8 years of use, the sealed system developed a leak and GE was unable to isolate the problem after 3 visits and 4 months. GE then determined it could not be repaired because the issue was in a part of the sealed system which was inaccessible. No problem, I thought, the unit has a 12 year warranty on the sealed system and GE would surely make it right. GE WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT!! I was told they would not replace the unit even though it was under warranty! GE is a substandard product and a company that obviously doesn't believe in or stand behind their products.

Jungle resemblance: sounds of Elephants, lions, wolfs, frogs, etc; 2. Vomiting: For a while I was thinking my neighbor was throwing his guts up badly till I realized it was the sound from the refrigerator. 3. When the door of the freezer gets open there's a scary roaring sound. Brand new (4 month old) GE Monogram built in Refrigerator——3 service calls in 3 months for exact same issue, NO REFRIGERATION, now they are ordering parts. Since the day the refrigerator has been installed, the refrigeration does not work (freezer is ok). We have lost over $1,000 in food, and they still not have resolved the issue. Now they are ordering parts, that will take 10 days, so still no refrigerator. They REFUSE to replace the Lemon Appliance, and insist their warranty is only for service. So, the consumer sits here for 4 months with NO refrigeration.

This refrigerator cost near $8,000... This is their solution? Keep trying to fix it? While the consumer waits and has no appliance. We simply cannot recommend a GE appliance of any kind.... buyer BEWARE.... GE is not standing behind their products, this refrigerator should be replaced or total price refunded by GE to the consumer, which they refuse to do. A $1,800 refrigerator would have been a much better solution.. Sad that the GE reputation is not living up to its prior reputation.

Parts Dept. and they wouldn't help me with their G.E. part because I couldn't prove I bought it from G.E. I don't remember where I bought it about 9 months ago, but I made sure it was a valid G.E. part - not a compatible. G.E. should stand behind their parts regardless of where you buy them.

We purchased our GE Profile fridge in 2012 and have had to have it repaired 4 times in seven years. The circuit board for the ice machine, the ice machine components as well as numerous other circuit boards were replaced in the troubleshooting of the first couple repairs. We've had fairly consistent issues with temperature control over the last three years with a complete break down of the circuit board that controls the cooling & freezing (woke up to a massive puddle of water on the floor from the melted freezer, ice machine and warm fridge) two months ago and then again today. So massively frustrated at what a lemon this fridge is. We're in the market for a new one now from a different company as we can't seem to even trust the new components that have been installed.

Several years later we had water collecting on the bottom of the unit and ice build up on the back. The tech replaced the defrost unit and several sensors on the unit. Several years later the system had the same problem with icing and water on bottom, the tech replaced defroster, tray on bottom of unit and blew out defrost line.

One year later system stopped cooling and the tech after several weeks wait replaced the coil, recharged the coolant as well as the Control panel board on front of unit. Here we are 13 months after repair and the control panel is failing (locks up and need to unplug unit to get it to work). All I can say is thank God we had extended service plan. I would stay away from any GE product since they no longer represent a high quality and dependability. I have a Hotpoint refrigerator that is over 30 years old and have never had a problem. I wonder if shifting production outside USA resulted in such a decay in quality standards. M. **

Two to three years ago I purchased a GE Cafe 2 door with bottom freezer, counter depth refrigerator. Approximately 1 week after I got it I noticed everything was icing up. The fan in the refrigerator stopped working and it was repaired promptly. One week later the same thing happened and I tried to return the 2 week old, possible lemon, refrigerator but was told that the warranty only covers repairs. This time a new fan, different than the others was installed. The repairman said that he had replaced these fans in every one of this model they had sold, but there was no mention of it before purchase when GE knew this problem existed.

Also, when the refrigerator was first delivered, the guys that brought it tried to level it, which is expected. They tried for a long time but couldn't get it just right, blaming it on the floor tiles. After I retiled, the refrigerator wouldn't level exactly and I learned to live with it. Later on I noticed in the instructions that if the side by side doors won't level properly they SELL "spacers" (that sound like washers), that are placed on the post under the door to correct the problem. For as much as this cost, I expect that problems like these should not exist at all. It would be nice if some refund would be offered, at least the cost of groceries that were lost.

Called GE and we finally got a repairman yesterday (after 2 1/2 weeks).

I explained what happened so he called the GE Tech Line and was told “do not touch the fridge and do not order parts”. I was directed to call GE Consumer Relations and was told by GE that the fridge is working and nothing needs to be done. What? The lady was so rude, she kept saying the fridge is working and no repair needed. I tried to explain as simply as possible that yes, it was working but trips the breaker. As I initially did not know this I had ordered and returned a too large machine previously. I decided to try to have the GE refrig repaired rather than having another appliance selected and delivered. The employees at the repair number I was given are not interested in having someone discuss the problem and they don't care that you have a problem. They make an appointment -- 10 days later. What if the food spoils, I inquired, will GE reimburse me? She gave me a number to call that was supposedly customer service, but it was just repair service again. I seriously doubt they have any customer service department.

GE did not call to let me know when in the day they would come; I had to call. Then they canceled, because it had snowed during the night, although it stopped by 4 AM and by nine the street here is only wet. Should I be glad that GE seems to care about the safety of its repair people over the obligation to provide repairs? I called the repair service number and did they apologize? NOT ONCE. Nothing I can do, but reschedule your appointment, they tell me at GE and put me down for 3 days later. This service is so bad that I simply cannot imagine that this appliance which worked properly for about a minute will be anything but a nightmare. I'm going back to find something that works.

I purchased a GE refrigerator from Lowe's last June 20th. Unfortunately, I was not notified of its non-operation by my tenant until 7/31 which was past the return window for Lowe's. Today marked probably the 8th, 9th or 10th time a tech has either come out or not showed up for an appointment... Honestly I have lost track! The fridge has has not been functional for use on multiple occasions and the most recent event (called in over two weeks ago) started as a frozen water line and ended with a frozen fridge with temperature below 20 degrees and exploding cans of soda and champagne bottles on the interior! Yet again, the tech has ordered a part and it will not be in for a week!

Jennifer, # **, the supervisor with whom I have spoken the past two times was absolutely the worse consumer advocate one could ever encounter contrary to a few calls (and attempts to help) where offers of restitution were made (a 6 month warranty extension and $40 gift card for having to wait 6 hours for the tech NOT to show up!). Jennifer saw no reason to assist and insisted that we would have simply have to wait for the part and not have a fridge again for an entire week. When I told her I had already purchased another unit (tenant has to have a fridge and NOT a GE of course!) she stated because I purchased a non-GE unit I was not eligible for any restitution AND there was no one else to speak with. She was judge, jury and executioner!

GE's issues as a company are well documented and quite frankly I don't even recall who now owns the appliance division. I urge fellow consumers NOT to purchase any GE products when their own Consumer Advocate department will not advocate for the consumer! Worse experience EVER and I have had the misfortune of similar incidents with various home warranty companies. Exhausted in Laguna Beach.

Purchased a new refrigerator from a Big Box store that was delivered 1/10/19, bottom freezer model w/ two doors on top, no in-door ice maker. Stopped cooling properly 3 weeks after it was delivered. Freezer would not hold a cold temperature, and after about a week everything in the freezer was melted. Called for service, which is covered under their 1-yr warranty. Took several calls to schedule service, and initially they scheduled it with a local service company that has a notoriously bad reputation. I finally called and had them reschedule the service with a reputable outfit in our area.

Service person indicated that the refrigerator was experiencing what are essentially "end of life" failures, and would need to replace all major parts (compressor, condenser, evaporator, etc). And he explained that it would be a major undertaking where he would be using torches to remove and replace the parts; expected to be almost a full day repair. He actually tried calling GE service to see if they would just replace the refrigerator. They would not. The tech attempted to order all of the parts needed, but the parts weren't even loaded into the system. So it will be a minimum of 2 weeks just to get the parts.

In the meantime, the refrigerator stopped cooling all together and won't hold a temperature below 50 deg (F), so we've had to remove all our food and have now been without a refrigerator since about the 2/20/19. We've made numerous calls to GE and spent hours on the phone with them, asking them to simply replace the refrigerator, but they have steadfastly refused and expect us to have it repaired. They offered an additional 1-year warranty, which is nice, but it's still ridiculous. We spent $1400 on a new refrigerator, and we are now without a refrigerator for weeks, and have to basically have our "new" refrigerator completely rebuilt onsite at our house. Unbelievable that a company get away with this. Selling junk to consumers at a premium price. If I wanted something that was junk and needed fixing I would buy a used item off of Craigslist.

I called for GE service and a technician came and used a computer to diagnose the issue. Then he changed the temperature again. The first year was just fine and then the beginning of the second year the produce compartment was not cooling. A repairman came out and replaced one of several motors on this model. He placed a sticker on the door that indicated that motor had been upgraded. Later in the second year the refrigerator started to make a loud noise mostly late at night. (It was not the ice maker.) The noise was loud enough to wake you up and lasted for about 2 minutes. The loud noise then started to be heard during the day and overnight. It sound like it was between one of the many motors and the compressor? The product is now out of warranty.

The 3rd year has brought another problem and the top part of the refrigerator is NOT cooling. I contacted a repairman again and he thought the top motor might be bad, however the top motor was running when he was there and he was baffled... He offered to replace the motor for several hundred dollar but was clear to say that may not address the problem.

The repairman further stated that GE was having issues with their circuits for that make and model of GE refrigerators. This day the refrigerator has been nothing but a problem for us and cost way to much too be having this many issues. Now my milk is spoiling and not even a can of soda is cold. I bought this GE refrigerator model #GTE 16DTHMRWW in June of 2018. I actually had liked the refrigerator pretty well, till I put some meat in it to unthaw. Of course it leaked on the glass shelf even though I had it in a bag. I just figured I would clean it up, no problem. Well you cannot clean it because it seeped between the layers. I called service and she told me it would cost me 98.00 to replace. I really feel this is a design flaw and they should replace it at least once. They also should work on replacing it with one you can wash. I have always bought other brands and never had this problem. I guess my next step is the Better Business Bureau.

I have a GE bottom freezer fridge that was purchase in August of 2013. We are just going through our third service call on this fridge that is not even 5 years old. This time, the problem is a manufacturing defect that is well known by the service person working on it. Repairs are going to be in excess of $400, he had to order parts and we are waiting for his second trip out here. The problem is freezing of the coil in the fridge. It is a design flaw they know about, to fix it, they are doing a software update to increase the defrost time and frequency (decreasing efficiency) and replacing an "air column". Plastic framework on the back of the fridge that is where the cold air flows.

Seems the present design causes moisture to accumulate which freezes up the coils and eventually burns up the fan too. The air column is not broken but they charge over $200 just for the piece of plastic, not including installation. They have a design flaw and they are making it into a profit center. They make a bunch of money by producing a poorly designed system and then charging a whole bunch of money to everyone that bought the fridge to fix their screw up.

I purchased a Profile GE refrigerator in June of 2017 at Home Depot. In May of 2018 the ice maker stopped working and the refrigerator started freezing my food. I call GE beginning May 5th or so. The 1st time I called went ok. They set up a service call and it was suppose to take place the next week. The day before the service call was to take place I got a call from GE. They said they believed I needed to replace my ice bucket and they would send me one. My son was in the hospital and I was not too concerned with the ice maker problem. Once he was better I thought how stupid I had been to let them cancel my service call because a new bucket would not fix the problem because it was not making ice. So back on the phone and any time you call GE and no matter what department you call, you are on hold for well over an hour.

Now this customer service rep tells me I need to go in and reset the ice maker. I told her I had done that with the last rep who said I needed a new bucket, but I did it anyway and she was able to tell me I needed a new ice maker and she was going to send one right out to me. I said, "Ok but how will it be installed?" She said, "Oh you can do it. It only takes 2 screws." I said, "Are you serious? You really expect me to install an ice maker that is under factory warranty?" She said, "Well yes. It only takes 2 screws." She just kept insisting I install this ice maker myself. I finally said, "Ok. I tell you what. You send me a letter in writing that if I install this ice maker on a refrigerator that is under factory warranty, That my warranty will not be void. I will do." "Well I cannot do that" she said. I said, "Well I am not going to install an ice maker either and I want a service repairman out here."

Well of course it took a week for the repairman to get here and then another week AND 1/2 for the parts to come in that the repairman ordered, then another week for him to come back out, he installed the parts and in a week I still had no ice, food still freezing. I call GE customer relations and get a case worker and a claim #. He follows up and I told him the repair was done and I still was having the same issue. He says he will get someone back out here, and a week later A&E {this is who they sent the 1st time} shows up different guy. He comes in, looks at the freezer, looks at the fridge and messes with the controls and say to me, "Ice maker been in hot warehouse and then in hot truck. It hot out so it will take a while for it cool down to work." I said, "Even if that was the case It has been in place for a week."

So back on the phone with GE, this time they tell me the repairman has not turned in his report and I had to wait for that, well I emailed the customer relations case worker and he would not respond to me, my calls or emails. I called in and requested to speak with a supervisor. After at least a hour and 1/2 hold the lady told me she found a supervisor and was putting me through. After another 30-40 minutes she comes back on the phone and says they are willing to switch out the refrigerator for a new one and offered 100.00 for food loss. All after I had to let them know I had no problem contacting an Attorney.

On July the 12th they bring out the new refrigerator. On July 23rd I get up and all of my food is frozen. Once again on the phone with GE and I told them I wanted my money back and was told I needed to take that up with Home Depot, not them. GE the supervisor I spoke with was a rude jerk. After arguing with the jerk for 30 minutes he made an appointment for yet another service call again with A&E. The tech for A&E showed up on Friday the 27th and it is the same idiot who said the ice maker needed to cool down. He looked in the refrigerator, does a laser temp and it shows the shelves at 31 degrees, he looks at me and say you need to put meat there, no other explanation. I told GE they better not send that fool to my house again. GE sends out another repair group today and of course they have to order parts and then come back, so another week or more without a refrigerator.

This will be the last time I deal with them. I am going to contact an attorney. I paid for a refrigerator and paid lots of money for it, and for me to have to go through all of this mess is not right. They got their money and I have done nothing but lose money. GE said I have to go through Home Depot to get my money back and Home Depot said, "Once it is out our door not our problem." So who is going to take responsibility. So here it is almost the 1st of Aug and I am still dealing with this and still don't have a refrigerator that is working properly!!! Just unbelievable.

We purchased a GE French Door, Bottom Freezer Refrigerator (2017. Model # GNE25JSKCFSS). Before the warranty expired, the inside of the wall panels started cracking. There are now three locations that are cracking, the cracks are growing, and it does not appear to be stopping. I contacted GE regarding repair. They came to the house and technician stated there was no repair for the cracking of interior panels. He gave us a case number and stated he was turning his report in to engineering. The first issue, GE never contacted us back. When I finally called GE three weeks later, a CSR said that GE does not warranty cosmetic items and was dismissive to my concerns. I spoke with a second CSR, who clearly didn't understand the nature of the cracks that were occurring at the insert corners on the internal panels.

This is not cosmetic. The cracks are spreading and there are 4 of them at points where GE inserted the light, and at the top of the back insert. Our warranty states "One Year from date of purchase: Any part of the refrigerator which fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship during this limited one-year warranty, GE Appliance will also, free of charge all labor and related service to replace the defective part". This may or may not affect the operation of the refrigerator but the cracks appear to be continuing, spreading now almost entirely across the top of our interior panel.

The only thing GE offered is to provide a discount on the purchase of a replacement unit at close to the cost of a new refrigerator (An additional $1300 out of pocket to us). I believe this is due to the way this unit was built, but regardless, GE does not state anything regarding cosmetic issues like structural cracks that I was able to see in the warranty.

Wife and I decided to update all our appliances in 2014. Started doing some research trying to decide which brand would be best to buy. I deliver for UPS and deliver to an appliance repairman so I decided he would be a good place to start. First off he said not to buy LG or Samsung. They are made in China and are difficult to get parts for. He said he has waited for months trying to get parts. So we narrowed it down to Whirlpool or GE. We decided to go with GE since they were supposed to be made in the US. Shortly after we found out that they had taken their production overseas. So we went to local store and found that GE had some rebates going. Buy 5 appliances and get 750.00 back in rebates. Bought washer, dryer, dishwasher, gas stove, and refrigerator. Of course it still wasn’t cheap even with rebate!

Within the first month the refrigerator went out. Repairman came twice and still couldn’t fix it. The company we bought it from finally just replaced it. Before the end of the year the washer started making a noise. It sounded like a freight train was coming through the house. Repairman came and diagnosed the problem but had to order parts. It was fixed a few days later.

Fast forward another year. The clothes dryer started making a popping noise after a few minutes of heating up. Thank goodness we had bought an extended warranty upon purchase. Called company and they sent repairman back out. He called GE and they refused to fix the dryer because it was still working. Now a few months later the noise has gotten so bad you can hear it throughout the house. I know it will only be a matter of time before it goes completely out. Hopefully my warranty will still be in effect. Pretty sad when you buy 5 new appliances and 3 of them go out within 3 years. Not sure what brand I would buy at this point but I know it would not be GE. You have problems and they refuse to fix them?

Very displeased with our GE French door refrigerator with ice/water dispenser in door, model #GFE24JMKBFES. We purchased the refrigerator in July 2017. It has been repaired twice. The freezer fan runs extremely loud, unbelievably can't hear the television, kind of loud. The first repairman advised me this was due to ice build up and that this is a known problem with "this fridge". He then advised me to unplug the refrigerator for several hours so the ice would melt. He then chipped away all the ice that was built up around the fan. This worked for about a month then we called again. The second repairman also chipped all the ice away and stated, "What do you expect, it's a GE?". This time it worked for a few months but started running loudly again and now it won't cool or freeze.

I would not recommend this model. I have family members that also own GE French door without ice/water dispenser and they have had no issues whatsoever. Prior to having problems with this fridge, I purchased another model GE French door fridge for another home and have had no problems at all. My bad experience is with this particular model. GE should address this issue. I do not feel "unplugging a fridge for several hours" for a $2000 fridge is an acceptable solution.

Now the fridge can only maintain a temperature of 60 degrees :/. The dishwasher likes to not drain completely. I have 2 people in the house and my appliances get very light use. Finding parts for the refrigerator is impossible. They are out of stock or discontinued. The repair guy didn't even show up. Just told me "yeah they go bad all the time". The website does NOT provide a contact information for a technician to get clarification and help. All reviewers have had the same problem. I ordered the parts and was told that one was backordered, which I find ridiculous. Does that mean so many other refrigerators have quit working that they can't even keep the parts in stock? I have now been waiting 6 weeks and just received another email saying they don't know when it will be shipped. Because I had success in the past with GE refrigerators, I bought a new one less than two years ago. The light goes on but it neither cools nor freezes. Furthermore, when one calls GE for help, one finds out that they cannot help you for a full two weeks. Their standards have certainly lowered and are practically nonexistent. Our GE Profile French door fridge was an add-on when we purchased our home in 2015. Our builder offered only GE appliances, so this is what we ended up with. It was about a $3000 option, and I couldn't regret it more. It's now 3 years later, and we've had numerous issues with it not cooling and have lost hundreds of dollars of food as well as time wasted waiting for repairs. The only upside to any of this is that since it's a Profile, the cooling system is covered for 5 years. However, that does not come close to making up for having an appliance that I can not rely on to do its job!

About 8 months ago the entire cooling system was essentially rebuilt, thanks to an incompetent technician who cut a line while trying to make repairs. The freezer wasn't cooling, and as he was "fixing it" he cut a line, causing the entire fridge to stop cooling. So that meant about a week waiting for parts, etc. Yesterday the freezer stopped cooling, so I schedule yet another service call. Then this morning the fridge is not cooling. I've asked GE for credit to put towards a new fridge, but they refuse. The best they will do is $100 to cover lost food, and now they're sending me $125 for a mini fridge. The money they have spent on food coverage and warranty repairs could have just about paid for a new fridge. I'm at my wits end and have decided that after this next repair, it will go on Craigslist and I'll be shopping for a new fridge that is NOT a GE. For reference, the model number of my GE Profile is PFE28RSHESS.

REALLY, To add insult, the salesman at Famous Tate's suggested I buy a warranty for the refrigerator. The warranty people will not honor the warranty because it is still under manufacture's warranty. I will never buy a GE appliance again.

I purchased a new condominium in 2004 which came with a new built in GE Monogram refrigerator with the bottom drawer freezer. I am the only person using the refrigerator so it does not get heavy use and should last. After 10 years the refrigerator stopped working. I had to have the refrigerant, thermostats and fan all replaced for $1700 in 2014. Since then the repair company has had to return 5 more times to replace additional parts. At this point I could have purchased a new refrigerator. In three years I have not gone longer than 8 months without the refrigerator needing an additional repair. My neighbors who also have the GE Monogram refrigerator have experienced the same terrible quality with their refrigerators.

We purchased the a new GE side by side fridge from Homedepot.com with free delivery and we paid extra to have it installed and up and running (Had to buy the water hoses). Delivered on the 16th of January of this year and that’s where the trouble begins... Was told the delivery subcontractors couldn’t install the water to the fridge because it came from underneath the sink not behind the fridge (which was not stated online when we paid to have it installed). My husband was able to install the water line several hours later after the delivery, and as soon as the water came on the fridge started leaking from the water filter, thought it was just a fluke, cleaned it up and ran the water line like we were told, check inside and it was still leaking. Cleaned it up again and took out the filter and put it back in, check later still leaking. Placed a cup under it and called Home Depot, told to call the company who delivered the fridge.

Called delivery company, was told they would talk to the manager and would try to come out the next day to look at it. Two days go by, of dumping the cup of water 3-4 times a day, no call and no one came. Called the company who delivered the fridge to be told because they didn’t install the water line they didn’t feel it was their problem. A phone to explain that they were not going to do anything would have been nice! Called Home Depot back and was told to call GE directly, called the number he provided. Walked me through taking the filter out and putting in back in... Still leaking. I was then told it by GE it was a customer care issue and was transferred to a different department. Was told by the customer care that I would be getting a call back in 72 hours from a local repair company to schedule an appointment, as if I hadn’t waited enough.

Get a call and the technician comes out a week after we get the fridge and replaces the filter, problem fix, or so I thought! Fast forward to this weekend and we get a bill in mail from A&E factory repairs for 191.12 for the repairs on my brand new still under warranty fridge! Called the billing department listed on the bill 5 separate times, keep saying please hold for the next operator but after about 1 min it sends you to a voicemail, so I left a message. Heard nothing all day, called again the next day. Same thing, left another message and then called the other A&E number that was listed in the recording of the billing message and that’s when the crazy started! I get a customer rep with a strong accent, she got all my information and told me the reason I got a bill is because my fridge was no longer under warranty at the time of the repairs. How could that possible because had only had it for a week before the repairs were done!

She was in the middle of explaining my fridge was purchased in 2017 and no longer under warranty when my phone died. So I get my other phone and call the same number back, get another lady with an strong accent, tell her what happened in the first call and gave her my information. She also tells me my fridge was purchased in 2017 and no longer under warranty. I argue because I know when I purchased my new fridge. No offer to help, no trying to work with me, keep saying it said I purchased the fridge last year and it wasn’t covered under warranty so that’s why I was billed. I argued again as to when I purchased the fridge! She told me to contact my warranty provider because my fridge was purchased last year. So I call GE, talk to someone and was told A&E had my serial number wrong in the system, so it showed the wrong purchase date.

Then GE said they update the system but I would need to talk to GE billing to handle the bill, and was transferred. The billing department of GE went over my service called records and said I didn’t have a repair service scheduled, after I explained the whole story. She tried to send out another tech to fix the problem. I had to explain to her, I told her, "No the problem was fixed. I was just trying to figure out why I was billed." She wanted to find out what happened because she didn’t want this to happen to someone else. She said they sent it over to A&E as a warranty call and was unsure as to what happened on their end, told me she

was going to call A&E billing and asks to place me on hold, I told her good luck because I couldn’t get a person from billing. While sitting on hold I go over the bill from A&E again and notice that my serial number for my fridge is listed on the bill, the correct one!

She comes back, I tell her about the bill having the right serial number and she kind of brushes it off and said she talk to someone in A&E billing but I need to wait for a call back from the number I called several times and never got an answer, I might have to wait a couple of days. Why she didn’t just transfer me if she got a person I have no idea. I finally got a call back later that day for the original billing number from the bill that I called first and left messages at. I was told she just handles payments, do I want to make a payment? I told her, "No, I wanted to make sure my billing was fixed," she gave me another number to call, because she only handles taking payments. So I call that number she provides me for the billing department, get a man with a strong accent, who told me this time the filter isn’t covered by the warranty, I should have only been charged for the new filter not the man hours to put the filter in.

I argued, "How is that not covered, it was a brand new fridge and the paperwork from the fridge is telling me it is in the first 30 days for a new fridge it is!" He again just told me it’s not covered and tried to again tell me I purchased it last year, and that I should only be charged for the filter and I need to create a claim number to find out why I was charged the other amount. I again argued, "I know when I purchased my fridge and GE told me it was covered by warranty!" I told him, "I wasn’t waiting 3 days. I wanted this taking care of that day, let me talk to someone else above you." I was told no one was available and that I need to call GE back and go over my warranty with them again. I said, "How can that be," and, "This was getting crazy. All day I was told it’s the other company’s fault and to call them!" I stated again I wanted to speak to a manager or a supervisor. I was told no one is above him that could handle this problem!

I finally had enough of him. Ended my called. So I then called GE back and got the customer complaint line, because this was ridiculous and they are the ones that use A&E for service of their products. I get that number and call it. I again explain the whole story of receiving the fridge, paying to have it installed and not getting it installed, the water leaking, the runaround about getting it fix, getting a bill for a new fridge repair, being told I bought the fridge last year, then being told they had the wrong serial number even though it showed the right one on the bill and told by A&E to call GE and vice versa. She then tried to tell me she would have to investigate issue and could take a week, but the filter isn’t covers under the warranty! Again I told her that isn’t what it said in the paperwork I received with the new fridge. It said 30 day warranty in new filter with new filter replacement if found faulty.

She tried to say that it didn’t cover if the water wasn’t installed properly. I argued how could it have not been installed properly, all the tech did was remove the old filter and put a new one in! He did nothing to the water line and it hasn’t leaked since! She then explain she’s not trying to go against what I say, she’s just letting me know the facts and again said the filter's not covered under the warranty (even though it is stated in writing that it is)! So I gave my information to her and copy of the bill from A&E and end the call because I had other things to do with my day to deal with the worst customer service in history (from both companies)! I will also never buy another GE product or use A&E factory repairs and I am telling everyone one I know to do the same!

Purchased GE Refrigerators on sale at Sears Cowtown Store. Deception, false advertising, turns out the refrigerator is used and faulty. Sears was to deliver the refrigerator after they change the doors to swing out in the opposite direction. Sears refused to deliver the refrigerator after the fact; 30 miles from the store. Cost me an additional $150 to have the refrigerator delivered. The energy rating has not performed as stated. The gaps around the doors allows flies to go right through and around the door seals that are hardened and do not seal. This is a middle of the line regular family size appliance. Buyer beware of what you are actually purchasing and all the details; like Sears Cowtown Store will not take back the faulty refrigerator.

Customer paid cash and additional $150 cash to have the refrigerator delivered. No amount of complaining to the store resulted in any positive solution and resolution. GE obviously manufactures inferior quality products and Sears has no integrity or credibility; bad faith business practices.

I really like this slate side by side... although there is a lot of wasted space and it is not as serviceable as I thought it would be. I should have considered a french door style so it would have offered more space. :-(

Good value for your money! This is our second one. First one lasted 10 years. This one's on year five. No issues or complaints... What I would do to improve it though would be to provide drawers to store things in, like eggs, cheese, biscuits, condiments, dressings, etc.

I purchased a 16 cu ft a little over 3 years ago. Both fans died within 2 years and I'm forced to pay for a yearly service contract. I never know when "sickness" will strike! I can't fit much in the freezer because it will freeze up, and when the inside temp hits 70 it runs more, and over 75 it threatens to die. AC or ceiling fan is always on May thru Sept.

Our GE refrigerator is fairly new, about 5 yrs old and works great. Stainless Steel, ice maker/ water dispenser with bottom freezer and French doors for the refrigerator. We have had no issues whatsoever, it is quiet and easy to understand when it comes to the ice maker. The set up utilizes space just the way we need it to and leaves a very easy way to clean without awkward reaching or missed spots. The glass shelves come out and you can change the space however you would need for whatever occasion.

We owned GE French door refrigerator about 2 yrs. when we had to replace the shelving unit that the drawers sit on. It is very cheap plastic, so if you keep anything at all in this refrigerator, this mechanism will break in a short while. Now, 2 years later, the shelving unit is broken again, so unless we want to put up with not being able to slide the drawers back in, we will need to replace again. I would never recommend this refrigerator to anyone.

This refrigerator is awful noisy. My old one was quiet. When this one compressor comes on It makes so much noise you can hear it running at other end of house. Also not crazy about freezer on bottom as you have to back up to open. Should have not let salesperson talk me into it. Should have bought with freezer on top. I do not recommend this one.

Food is constantly freezing in the refrigerator compartment. Have had an additional warranty for several years. Have had to call service to come out and replace parts at least twice. No reason why this freezing happens. Also have a GE stove that had to have its whole control panel replaced and a GE microwave/convection oven that was so bad, they gave me a new one. All purchased in 2009. NEVER will I buy a GE product again.

I actually can no longer recall when I purchased this refrigerator but it was many years ago and it continues to give me uninterrupted service. It is a rather simple item as compared to some its larger and more complex GE counterparts. I did once contact support services for what I thought was an electrical problem. It wasn't and the problem was resolved swiftly by a technician who was patient and gave me splendid useful information. The product fits perfectly in a relatively small space in my kitchen. The ice maker continues to give me ice in short order and the product can be set on energy savings. The food compartment continues to keep items quite fresh for relatively lengthy periods and the freezer compartment also does its jobs. I have no complaints.
