In April 2016 we purchased four major appliances from J C Perreault, Trans-Canada Hwy., Kirkland, QC. A GE Profile Refrigerator 22.1 cu. ft., a GE Profile oven 6.6 cu ft, Panasonic microwave, 2 cu ft and a Bosch dish washer 4 cycles. They have been very good to us by providing us with refrigerator loaners until our repairs were executed satisfactorily. They however have been not very forthcoming in solving the problem described below. The extended warranty states if a problem is not solved after three visits for the same repair a new replacement would be made. What a disgrace that G.E. after years of generating such goodwill in the sector of major appliances that their administration would allow a customer to suffer and swing in the wind. Numerous service visits to solve a freezer malfunction without a promise of a solution or satisfaction.
This problem reoccurred multiple times within the first year of their guarantee and spilled over to an extended warranty sold by the vendor at the day of sale. In addition to this defect two motherboards were replaced and a temperature control. So sad to see this former star fall so far. A visit to the store managers office and letters to same and to the President J C Perreault advising them of all these problems have not brought a satisfactory conclusion. At this point a replacement should be provided. Any help or suggestions you can provide would be very appreciated.

Purchased a new refrigerator model #GTE18GTHBB on Nov. 4, 2016. Freezer frosts up with icicles. Fan stops working because of ice. First service call within 1 month of purchase. 4 more service calls, 3 parts replaced, 1 twice. Fifth repair scheduled for July 20 - no show. Called GE, on hold for 42 mins. Then I hung up. Later, I was able to reach customer service and they said a new service date is July, 24. GE refuses to replace refrigerator. [maybe because a new one will do the same thing!]

Our 6-year-old GE Profile refrigerator just died suddenly and needed a new main control board, an expensive repair. I can't believe a $2,000 fridge needs this so soon. Terrible quality. Also, the rubber strips lining the doors are falling apart. GE said they couldn't do anything to help. Will never buy GE fridge again.

BEWARE OF GE PRODUCTS!! We have a three-month-old GE Cafe Series Refrigerator and have already had a service call to repair a sticking water dispenser button, loud rattling noise and peeling silver tape covering the front of the shelves. The service person was able to repair the sticking button, told us that the compressor was "just loud" and replaced the two peeling shelves stating that they were defective. I now have two crisper drawers that have the decorative silver tape peeling off of them, and the ice dispenser is getting clogged with large chunks of ice.
I called GE this morning and I was transferred to their Consumer Relations Dept. I was told that the Manufacturer's Warranty did not cover defective decorative issues. WHAT? I asked why the first two shelves were replaced and she told me she had no idea. She then told me I should try to contact the supplier (which is Best Buy) with these problems. I don't have much hope, and at this point I am so frustrated that I would rather move this stinking piece out to the curb. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GE PRODUCT!!! HORRIBLE PRODUCTS, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Absolutely the worst experience that I have ever had trying to purchase something. Went in to take advantage of the 4th of July savings on a new stainless steel refrigerator and microwave. Found the units that I liked and informed the associate that I wanted to make a purchase. Took the associate 40 mins of fumbling thru their system before she finally took us up to the front desk to complete the purchase. Completed the purchase and was given a delivery date of 7/10 and was told that the delivery company (GE Appliances) would be calling us the night before to confirm the delivery and give us the delivery window. Never received a call the night before, called the day of and was given a window of 1pm to 5pm and was told I would receive a 30 min call ahead of time to let me know they were on the way.
So I went in to work, as I only work 15 mins from the house and waited for the call. Around 4 pm I got concerned that I hadnt heard from anyone so I called to make sure that we were still good to go. The delivery company told me that we were still on the schedule and that I would get a 30 min call. I finished my day up at work and went home. At 5:40 I called again and was told that the delivery company had already been to my house at 2:30 and that the best they could do was reschedule me for the 22nd. Well I had already given my old fridge and microwave to a family that was in need, so this wasnt going to work for me. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told that I would get a call back within the hour. 2hrs go by still no word so I call back again, this time after holding for 25 mins was transferred to a supervisor.
Sloan the supervisor told me that she would email the regional manager to see if anything could be done and that I would get a call the next day. Late the next afternoon after never hearing anything back again I called them. After waiting on hold for another 33 mins I finally got Sloan again. She told me that I was the very next call on her list (Yeah right). She told me that the regional manager never got back with her and that she would email him again. Another day wasted. The next day comes and goes with no follow up, So I call again and get the same ** as the day before.
So I decide to go to the store and see if there is anything that they can do. I am told that there is nothing that they can do (hard to believe that HOME DEPOT has such limited resources) and that I had to work with the delivery company. I have finally given up on any kind of follow up from them or any attempt to make this right. So now I am waiting without a fridge or microwave for the next 12 days (If they can get it right then, fingers crossed). I know that there are many people with much larger issues but I challenge anyone with 2 kids to go 2 weeks without a fridge or microwave. Not an easy task. I will never make another purchase like this from HOME DEPOT and I will never buy another GE APPLIANCE. Congrats LOWE'S you just got yourself a customer.

I purchased a bottom freezer from Home Depot on April 7 of this year. Something I thought I could treat myself. I even purchased a dishwasher on April 7th. And a stove that I got last year. All GE products. When I got the fridge, I purchased the 3 year extended warranty via Home Depot. In that protection plan, any spoiled food could be reimbursed up to $300.00. Wednesday June 28, I went to my local Giant Eagle and purchased food. I spent $224.68 that Wednesday evening. Now a few weeks prior, we had a food truck come to our office, and I purchased chicken and meats (steak, filets, ground meat, etc) which I spent $399.00. All freezer foods.
I woke on Thursday June 29th to find out my fridge stopped working. All my food that I just purchased was spoiled. Thrown away... Brand new fridge. I called GE on Thursday while I was at work, schedule tech to come out that Friday 30th. I had to leave work early and wait for the service tech, anywhere between 1 to 5 pm. The tech came out, pulled apart the freezer and said, "Yes you are the third person this week with the same issue." He then proceeded to thaw out the freezer with a mega hair dryer. No paperwork, no invoice, no statement. Meanwhile I had filed a claim with Home Depot Protection Plan about the spoiled food. The tech said he put an email in to the engineers and said he will get back to me. That was it. After the fridge started to cool down, I went back to my local Giant Eagle and spent more money replacing everything I had to throw away.
I actually called GE back and asked for a copy of the statement and the rep told me they don't' give or hand out any statements since it was under warranty. REALLY? I can't even get Home Depot to reimburse my food spoilage because they require an invoice or statement. Last weekend, I come home on Sunday evening to my fridge not working again. And it smelled! So again, I had to throw away all the food I just replaced for the second time. My freezer stuff though was still cold so that was still OK as of Monday. Called Home Depot and nothing that they can do. Called GE on Monday morning. I get a rep who says, she is so sorry but the next available time was Wednesday. There goes all my freezer food.
A third party service tech was schedule to come out Thursday, tomorrow. Which was the only time in my work schedule I asked to take off and was allowed. I get a call today saying they need to reschedule because the only van they have went down. One van for a company, must be small I guess. Now I am wasting my time again to call, wasting my time to write this email since I am getting nowhere. I even filed a complaint with the BBB. I highly doubt nothing will happen with this. I spoke my opinion on Facebook. All the responses I got was "I am sorry to hear. Your case manager will be in touch." Funny thing is no case manager was in touch. I think if add up the minutes I have been on hold and transfer and actually talked to a rep, it has been at least 4 hours or so. Who has that kind of time? And why am I on hold that long? Is GE making faulty products that customers have to wait that long to speak to someone?
Even as I type here and look online, I see the Online Chat says... "All Agents helping others." I don't' understand how companies can treat their customers like this. I cant' afford this anymore. Money and time. I can honestly say that I regret buying GE products. And why can't GE refund my money? Does Home Depot keep all profits? The outcome of all this now, is I have to take off work again on Monday and wait again between 1 - 5 for the tech to come out again. Unfortunately I was told and my Uncle was told that I stuck with this garbage unit unless it goes out on me again for the third time. All within 3 months of purchasing. And still no reimbursement of any kind from anyone for the food spoilage.

In 2008 I moved to a new house that had brand new GE Monogram double oven and cooktop, so I did not research and went to Home Depot and bought the GE Monogram Refrigerator ZFSB26DSS. I bought also, the "Service Protection Plus" that Home Depot sells, that is serviced by GE. The first problem that I had with the refrigerator was a noise in the freezer. I call the service provider and they sent "an GE expert". The GE technician came to my house and told me that there was a problem with the fan blades touching the walls of the refrigerator. He did not change it, he only "fixed".
After that experience I bought insurance for all my appliances with Sears. Thank God! This refrigerator had so many problems: the temperature control board has been replace 3 times, the ice maker and drawer once, the main board 3 times (once because they ordered the wrong one) and the dispenser board 3 times. The water/ice dispenser still does not work. After my insurer told me that the problem could not be fixed and due to the restriction amount per claim, I called the GE Monogram customer relations people. I explained the situation and all the headaches that this beautiful but bad product has caused me and they told me that the only thing that they could do was to send me an "expert in GE". With nothing else to lose, but more money (they charge you $99.95 per visit/diagnostic).
They sent the "expert". The expert came and did all the same tests that the non expert GE technicians had done before and he determined that was the dispenser board. I told him that the dispenser had been changed 3 times. He told me that he was sure. I knew that that was not the problem and I ask him if they will reimburse my money if the board was not the problem. He said yes, I told him go ahead. They gave me a special deal to replace the board (10 minutes) for $454.9, everything included. The board came, the same "expert" came and it was replaced. Of course, it was not the dispenser board. At the end, this technician told me that this problem could not be fixed and asked me "how important for me was the water and ice dispenser".
This was not a cheap refrigerator, it was something around the $5,000. It is beautiful but it has design flaws (the food freezes when you put it close the fridge walls) and obviously an internal engineering problem too. Now I have a GE Monogram that has all brand new: ice maker, ice drawer, temperature control board, dispenser & dispenser board and main control board. But it does not work!!! So, do your homework and do not buy a GE or GE Monogram refrigerator. If you do, and you are willing to pass the fixing phase, my recommendation is to buy some kind of insurance that has the "replacement" option. In case that they cannot fix it, they can replace it. Do not waste your money buying GE refrigerators!

I purchased this fridge (GE Cafe Counter Depth French Door CWS21SSESS) in 5/2014. I am extremely unhappy with the fact that it freezes everything towards the back of the fridge. The temp is not set super low. I am not the only one with this problem. My friend bought the same fridge a few weeks before me and has the same problem. Also the lower drawer doesn't alarm if it's not fully closed. It will snow inside the freezer and accumulate frost. The water dispenser inside the door stopped working within 1 yr. However the ice maker works. I will not complain or might have a bigger issue on hand. GE does not deserve a good rating as a manufacturer or designer of this Cafe series fridge.

My husband and I built our retirement home two years ago. We purchased all new GE Profile products. Our refrigerator stopped working. The freezer and ice maker are still working. My older refrigerator was a Sears Kenmore and it was still going, no repairs twenty five years later. Will never purchase another GE product!

After we removed our old refrigerator to make room for the new one. Replacement model did not arrive until 1/27/17.
Less than 6 months later the freezer & ice maker quit. Loss of over $450 of food. GE sent local 3rd party repairman. Repairman said he would not work on dual cooling model because GE won't compensate him fairly for his time. Called GE service again, the representative was insincere and told me next available date was 6 days away. I also bought Geek Squad Protection but that is worthless. I have a new GE Monogram Refrigerator 42" Counter depth that is constantly dripping water from the ice dispenser flapper from the first day it was installed. I was told by a couple of GE Repair Technicians that this is the norm for all the GE refrigerator line. The flapper is very thin and has no insulation so condensation is forming on the outside and then drips down into the ice/water dispenser area. To manufacture a refrigerator and sell it for $10000 with a flimsy part that performs like this is unacceptable in my opinion. I was told that there are a lot of repair calls for this which is not a problem that can be fix.

Our ice maker starting dispensing bits of plastic that looked like ice. It was easily missed and we could have died from it. We ordered replacement parts for the auger which had chipped and was dispensing plastic. Not a year later, it started happening again and this time it was also dispensing screws along with plastic! We found out it was now the crusher cover that is chipping. Doing a search online, I discovered this is a common problem. An appliance repair person even posted: "There are two plastic things that will typically break in these dispensers the auger and the crusher cover. The crusher cover is the plastic cover that separates the ice crusher from the ice storage. The auger is the part that pulls the ice into the ice crusher and into the dispenser. You may have to replace one or both of these parts." Is this not a safety concern if so many people are experiencing this? This is for ice bucket assembly WR17X23191.

Your GE service technician decided that was indeed the problem. Had the part and installed. I was billed $154.00 for labor to install a part that took 10 minutes. I was told on the phone before the service visit it would be a $108.95 trip charge plus parts. Since the part was covered and was not told before about the additional charge for labor we feel as a customer we were taken advantage of. The policy should be the customer should be told of all charges before and not be made aware of "labor not included" charges after the fact. We would like a response to this complaint!

I am a retired widow. My son works for Mayflower Movers/General Electric and is responsible for delivering Ge appliances for Home Depot. He replaced my kitchen appliances for me. I chose all GE because it is an American company and I knew from experience they were reliable, or so I thought. My parents married in 1936 in the depression. They couldn't afford a refrigerator: my dad built a wood box that fit in the window of their attic apartment. In the summer they used my grandparent's wood "ice box", literally used a block of ice.
In 1940 he built a gas station with a one room kitchen/living room, a half bath and two attic bedrooms where we lived until 1947 when my younger sister arrived. They purchased a GE refrigerator in 1940. It was about five feet high with a 10x10" freezer compartment that held two ice cube trays on a top shelf which had to be defrosted. They replaced it with a new GE and moved it to the basement for a back up fridge. They still had it long after I was married and a Ge refrigerator owner myself. The 1940 model eventually moved to the bulk plant my dad hauled out of and lasted until the bulk plant was torn down years later. I wouldn't be surprised if it still wasn't running somewhere! My point being my slightly over one year old GNE29GHSDSS french door bottom freezer model is freezing my food in the refrigerator as others have reported.
My son works for GE and is trying to get a resolution and I am still dealing with a refrigerator that is more freezer than refrigerator, only 16 months old. It went berzerk one month after the one year warranty was up. Shame on you GE for not taking pride in building a reliable product and not standing behind the product you make. I have a friend who works for GE Health Care in IT for five years. He was impressed with their stated values and earns a very good salary. However, is frustrated with how the customer is valued less than products and money and has lost his faith in the company values. Jeffrey **, better talk to your good employees and read the handwriting on the wall.

We love the features of this refrigerator; but not the dependability. Twice in the last four (4) months the refrigerator has just quit working. The first time we were on vacation and it wrecked approximately three hundred dollars worth of groceries, not to mention the terrible smell of rotted meat. Surprisingly I unplugged the refrigerator for a few hours and plugged it back in, and it worked. Last night it just quit working. There is power to the outlet but there seems to be no power in the appliance. I have tried rebooting but to no avail. I choose to buy an American product which I assume would function as it should. Boy, was I wrong! Tech came out on Friday, claimed it's repaired. His computer conveniently broke and he could not give me documentation claiming the repair was completed. GE stated that the fridge should be working perfectly in 24 hours. Since then the refrigerator and freezer stopped working and the temperature is now 67 causing everything to spoil. Of course GE treats its customer as liars so they will only reimburse cust(omers 100 dollars for food.
Their customer service is absolutely helpless and uncaring, not to mention their upper level management whose only concern is to save GE a buck. After 24 hours I tried to inform them that the problem has worsened but the customer service was closed. I went online to schedule repair but have a 'schedule service error' so I have to wait to call them at 8 am on Easter Sunday. Everything I prepared for Easter dinner has gone bad! Bought a new GE Profile refrigerator in July, 2016. Worst appliance I have ever owned. Have had 3 service calls since and it is still not properly working. Major Problems: Repeatedly freezes food in the refrigerator section, requiring us to throw out frozen produce. Topmost freezer drawer consistently falls out of his side guides and cannot be closed. This requires us to disassemble and re-assemble the freezer compartment, allowing our frozen food to defrost in the process. The ice maker expels ice with enough force to shatter our fine glassware.
Despite repeated complaints to customer service and two previous ineffective fixes to software, today they sent an independent appliance servicer who arrived without any way of checking the software - he simply stuck his hand in the fridge to check the temperature and said it "felt OK". I am beyond frustrated and have scheduled another service call for next week. If that does not fix the problems, I am taking GE to small claims court to get my money back.

However, the amount of Black mold on the inside of the fridge in places you can not see is appalling. The refrigerator is faulty (AND GE KNOWS)--the fan breaks and it does not cool properly. It is a severe health hazard for everyone. Please, if you are experiencing this something must be done.
Although we have cleaned out the refrigerator in preparation for an $800.00 repair prior to reading all of the reviews about this issue on the internet, you can still see the mold inside of the fridge. If you have this fridge--please take a look. Something must be done to prevent people from getting sick. GE is aware of this issue as seen by their response and they are doing NOTHING. When the ice maker fills there is a loud buzzing sound then a pop. They replaced the water valve, water filter and finally the whole right door then decided it was irreparable and replaced it with a new one a week ago. Within 24 hours it was doing the same thing.
I called and told them I did not want this refrigerator and to send a truck to pick it up... Instead they sent an 8th technician who discussed this with the "senior tech" on the phone. I heard him tell the tech to test the water pressure. The tech in my home did so and told the one on the phone that was not the problem. He then said there was nothing to do because it was designed this way. I was told to call my customer relations representative. I did this after he left and was told the issue was the water pressure in my home was too great and causing the issue!! After I had just heard the tech say that was NOT the issue.
GE has lost me for a customer forever and I will make sure anyone I know is aware of GE's lack of customer service and satisfaction. Thank goodness I had purchased the refrigerator at Home Depot and kept the Appliance manager in the loop of my issues... They are picking up the GE and delivering a Kitchenaid with a full refund. That is a stellar company who wants its customers to be satisfied!!!

GE Profile Refrigerator - We purchased all GE appliances for our new home in 2012, thinking they were a reputable company and had been around for so many years they can be trusted for their quality. While we haven't had any issues with the dishwasher, range or microwave, the ice maker/water dispenser in our refrigerator has given us problems and finally stopped working after just 4 years. We were told the cost to repair it would be about $600. We are so frustrated and disappointed! $600 can buy a lot of bags of ice so we aren't going to have it repaired.

We bought GE Profile refrigerator, stove, dishwasher & microwave coming up on 8 years ago in August. The refrigerator is the biggest disappointment ever! At a cost of somewhere between $2300-$2600 it is so disappointing! Had an issue with the ice maker, which took about 2-3 visits to fix. Had ice build up under the big storage drawer which took at least 3 visits to fix. Now the compressor goes! Was told the part alone would be about $360.00 and only one place around us would probably repair it and they would most likely charge $500-$600 just for service call! I totally wanted these appliances and looked specifically for them! Now not even 8 years and I have to buy a new refrigerator! I was also told that at the time we bought these appliances they were made in Korea by Samsung. If we had known this we probably would have gone for another brand.

I purchased this GFE29HSDHSS refrigerator in 2014. The water flow was very weak from the beginning. I called GE within the first one year and the technician sent by GE did not find anything wrong. Since the water flow almost stopped recently, I called my home warranty. The technician found that the ice maker was defective and the tubing behind was kinked. The company paid $430 for the part and service. Within a week the water selector button on the door is out of alignment. The technician says that the whole part has to be replaced. Cost $480. I called GE about the poor quality of parts as the technician mentioned very clearly that very cheap plastic was used. GE washed off their hands due to the age of the refrigerator. Is it fair for a customer to invest $900 (almost cost of a new refrigerator) within two years... GE sold me a LEMON and does not want to take any responsibility.

We built a new house in early 2015. We purchased GE Profile series; Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Gas Range, and Microwave/vent combo. Fortunately, we purchased an extended warranty on the Range. The REFRIGERATOR ice machine is the worst we've ever had. It spits the cubes out straight and the crushed ice is not adequate (takes forever); it will also spit out cubes for no reason.
The RANGE has had continual problems with the lights. It was discovered by our extended warranty visits that is a defective part. We are still waiting for GE (7 weeks) to complete the repair. It was also discovered when we were dealing with the defective part that was blowing the surge protector. It clearly states in the GE appliance book that we should not use a surge protector; the law says we clearly DO need a surge protector. Time for GE to step up and update their appliances?
The DISHWASHER does not distribute the soap properly and sometimes the door doesn't open. We have to be very careful where we place items (never experienced that before). The MICROWAVE/VENT hood blew a light a year after we had it. I purchased another $10 bulb and it burned out immediately. We don't have a warranty so I just go without. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GE APPLIANCES; THEY SEEM TO BE CHEAPENING THEM!

Our GE Profile Model #GFE28GSKBSS Refrigerator with freezer on the bottom is a huge disappointment with a big price tag. The drip pan under the ice and water dispenser is flat so our kitchen floor is always filled with water. Thankfully, we don't have hardwoods in the kitchen. The ice dispenser is the worst we have ever had. Not only is it extremely slow, it jams almost daily. It takes forever to fill glasses with water and, if the ice dispenser is working, it only provides very little at a time. The best thing about this appliance is its good looks. We will never buy GE again and that's too bad because my husband is a home builder.

Since owning the refrigerator, it has required service seven (7) times for the same problem (water dispenser quits working) which has cost over $1,000 in service calls and parts not to mention the hours off work to be at home during the four-hour window when the technician is scheduled to arrive. Just five months after the 7th replacement, the water dispenser has quit working again.
This time I called the GE consumer relations number regarding the issue. After waiting on hold for 25 minutes, Tereka agreed there was a defective part. However, looking into it further (with me on hold even longer), she determined nothing would be done on their part, because the problem was due to hard water and I should have a water softener. Nowhere in the owner's manual does it mention a water softener is required for the appliance to function properly. Additionally, this was not mentioned the past 7 times the part was replaced, and how can Tereka in South Dakota determine Florida's water quality?

GE refrigerator model # GSH25JSBBSS - I purchased four GE appliances from Howard's in November 2011. One of the items was the refrigerator listed above. In 2014 the auger broke into many pieces and came out in our drinks. Since it is clear plastic it was almost ingested which could have been very dangerous. When I called my home warranty company I was told this was not a covered item. When I called GE they told me that I would have to pay for the part which would cost about $45 and then to get it installed would be another $150 or I could get a new ice bucket assembly which would cost over $200. After reading online about this problem in many of their models I am angry that GE doesn't fix this product and put in metal augers instead of plastic. Plastic is no match for ice and over time is will surely shatter. Paying over $200 to replace the ice bucket is a rip off.
Another issue I've had with this refrigerator happened recently. The water wouldn't come out of the door. I called GE and they said they could send someone out and it would cost over $150. I found a local, reputable appliance repair person and he came out and told me that the water line had frozen in the door and to use a blow dryer to unfreeze it. It took about 20 minutes of blowing it right where the water comes out making sure to not leave it in one place for long, and he was right. He didn't even charge me. GE is a bunch of crooks. I will NEVER buy a GE appliance again. When I moved into my new house I bought all LG appliances. I should have left the GE at the old house. GE needs to stand behind their appliances or get out of the business.

This is the worst icemaker/refrigerator I have ever owned and would never recommend it to anyone else. The icemaker never stops making ice, the ice in the bin freezes solid so it won't dispense. I have to dump it out often or it will just load up at the dispensing end and freeze solid. One week we were out of town and when I returned the whole thing froze up, I could not open the ice compartment. I had to turn the refrigerator off and let it all warm and thaw on its own. That meant I had to take everything out and keep my cold items in an ice chest for several days. My freezer items I had to "farm out" to willing neighbors. A G.E. repairman came. Found we didn't need a new ice maker, had no comment on why it won't stop making ice and why it freezes solid after two days.

OMG, where to begin... I purchased all my appliances in late 2007 during a whole house remodel where we also purchased cabinetry. All from Home Depot EXPO. Big mistake. Expo died a few years later. The remodel was done July 2008 and all the appliances were put in use. The 42" built-in refrigerator: it was supposed to be the Cadillac of Refrigerators. Motor on top where it makes sense. But instead a year after installation the electric door panel controls had a short circuit and they said we needed a new door but our model was a cool special edition just for EXPO. That door does not exist so we were forced to replace our $7000 "forever" refrig a few years after installation. The new one cost even more and does not have the cool handles that match my kitchen like the original did.
So even upon installation of this new replacement, it has always filled my top shelf and then the next shelf and so on with water from condensation. It looks like the condensation comes from the light but it's above and behind and just drips from the edge of the plastic cover. I am sick to my stomach every time I pull the milk jug off the top shelf and drip water everywhere. So much for buying the Cadillac. Next time it's not GE for damn sure.
The gas cook-top: Aren't these supposed to be brainless? A few years into this appliance's life it set itself on fire! It didn't burn the house down but the appliance was cooked and our house smelled for months. Luckily its guts are encased in a sheet-metal box and the flames were minimal just inside the unit where the wires burned and gas leaked about the pace of a pilot light. But it does not have a pilot and it never leaked before the fire and it was not being used because nobody was home! Nor was anything on top of the stove except a tea kettle. There goes #2.
The Dishwasher: WOW a cool dishwasher with lights inside even! Ran great for a few years. Very quiet. But then we ran it and when the dry cycle comes on (no matter what functions are previous) the dry or even air dry cycle has a horrible eerrr (buzz) kinda like a car horn but half as loud. Called a repair tech and he said these are just junk. Replace it with a new one. Right. It was supposed to be the dishwasher that lasts 20 years. Remember this is MONOGRAM, like Cadillac, not any more. I'm not buying another new piece of ** for $2000 and have it last a few more years again. NO MORE GE.
The Advantium and convection oven: I'm afraid to mention the 120 Advantium oven and convection oven because they still work somehow. Maybe because the oven doesn't get used often. The Advantium gets used daily :-). I purchased GE MONOGRAM thinking I was buying appliances that could outlast me. NOPE!GE has horrible, rude, ** customer service. I FEEL SORRY FOR THEIR TECHNICIANS.
I have had so many conversations with customer service and the techs that make me want to burn the house down and replace the kitchen with a more deserving brand. Well I won't do that and I will just pass the house on to some sucker who loves it and maybe the home warranty will cover his newly acquired inferior GE MONOGRAM kitchen. Too bad we came home when the cook-top was just flaming in place. A new kitchen full of BOSCH appliances would have been perfect. GE, your appliances are sinking and your employees are bailing water in! Way to go! Buh-Bye!!!

We purchased a GE fridge a few years ago that never really cooled properly. After having a couple of service technicians diagnose the problem, our refrigerator was found to have contaminants in the sealed system that slowly produced small pinholes in the tubing as the contaminants worked their way out from the inside. The technician said that both compressors and all the associated parts would need to be replaced costing approximately $1400. We had already invested approximately $450 in repair and diagnostic fees in an effort to fix the refrigerator. After talking with a GE representative, they offered to discount parts to repair the refrigerator which would still cost approximately $900-$1000.
Since the problem was in the manufacturing process (a sealed system), we felt that this issue was something that GE should have taken the initiative to fix rather than putting the burden on the consumer for a defect in assembly. Unfortunately, this has been our only experience in purchasing a large GE appliance and will be our last as we now have a very large paperweight due to the prohibitive repair cost which would be better served purchasing a new refrigerator.

Never had a problem with the KitchenAid dishwasher we previously owned in past. We decided to replace all appliances with stainless steel. The GE dishwasher does not rinse properly. Tried every type of detergent, powder, tablets, and liquid. Dishwasher when using powder left the entire inside of the dishwasher coated with a crusty powder. The entire inside was white coated dried on powder to the point that the tracks for the racks would barely move the wheels back and forth on them. I called GE and they came out and hooked up computer to the appliance and stated that the water temp was not hot enough.
GE stated to use boost cycle on dishwasher to boost the temp and use cascade platinum tabs along with Lemi hard water remover. I did this but dishes still come out with a film on them and when you put water in a glass there are all suds in the water unless you hand rinse the glasses and dishes in the sink first. I do not load any pots or bowl on bottom rack, only plates, so that water can flow through in order to rinse well. But still, I am getting a soap spots all over the dishes. GE came out again and said couldn't find anything wrong with dishwasher even after seeing the pictures of dishes filled with soap residue.
GE didn't show anything wrong when hooking up the computer again to dishwasher. He stated maybe to not fill Jet-Dry since soap tablet have Jet-Dry in them. I have now tried everything the tech told me to do and the only improvement I have seen since the first visit is that the film of white power is starting to fade away (but let me state that started to fade away before the GE Tech 2nd visit to my home) but dishes still come out with soap rings on them. A few days ago I found a very small, sharp piece of plastic in my glass of ice water. Because of the plastic type it looked very much like ice. I was lucky to notice it. We thought maybe it was from a chipped glass. Several days later we found another one, and then my wife found several larger pieces in her water. Coincidentally the ice maker stopped pushing out ice. I pulled tray out, dumped the ice in the sink and let it melt. I now have seven pieces of broken plastic ranging in size from 1/8th inch to an inch and 5/8s. All have very sharp edges. Inspection of the tray revealed that about one half of the final auger loop is missing, having shattered.
The missing area appears to be much larger than the plastic pieces I have recovered. Which begs the question, where did the rest of the plastic end up. I consider this to be a very dangerous situation. Replacing the tray on the assurances of GE is out of the question. I am presently making the ice the old fashioned way and will continue to do so until buying a new fridge. I would recommend that others with this model do the same, or at the very least not use the crushed ice option. This is very bad! And goes way beyond a simple breakdown. My GE refrigerator has been going for 17+ years. Still runs great. Size of freezer & fridge is just right for a large family & is only about 5'5" tall, 2' wide, & 2' deep. Gave it a slightly lower rating on appearance because the outside has that old-fashioned, porous white material & is kinda hard to keep clean. I've cleaned the dust & lint out of the bottom, back area about once every 3 years. Was maybe $350 when new, which wasn't too much. It needed service one time, after about 10 years, for some engine issue, but it was easy for the guy to fix & not expensive. GE proves to be the best time & again. They still make top-quality products. Decent prices. They know how to make a good fridge that will last a long time, with minor maintenance.

My first contact with GE for servicing a fridge not cooling was on 10/06/2016 (this model was less than a year old, and I had only had for a few weeks). The freezer worked great, but the defrost mechanism malfunctioned and would not keep the fridge cool. A repair person was sent out on several occasions, replaced two defrost parts. The fridge was still not functioning properly, so I was told a replacement fridge was approved and would be delivered in 5-7 days.
A week later I received a call stating it would be an additional 5-7 days. Another week later, I called to check the status and was only able to leave a message. I called again the next day leaving a message and sent the email below to the customer service department: "I have been patiently waiting to hear when my replacement refrigerator will be delivered. The last time I was able to speak with my assigned customer service advocate (Camise); she said she was not able to give me a date (it has been between 2-3 weeks since I was approved to get a replacement fridge).
I have been without a working refrigerator for an unacceptable amount of time, you can track from my first call into GE customer service on 10/06/2016 to current. I can't continue to try and store a family's worth of food in a mini-fridge, grocery shop every two days, or eat out. This has been expense, time consuming, and stressful. With the upcoming holiday weekend, I need a full size, fully functioning fridge.I tried calling Friday morning last week (12/16, 11:53 am cst) and left a message for Camise. I called again today (12/19 10:01 am cst) and left another message. I then called back at 1:10 pm and was on hold for over half an hour (and because like most people I have to work) had to hang up before speaking to anyone. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, ID **. I would like this issue resolved now. Ipt is ridiculous that it has gone on this long."
The next day I called again, email below summarizes the call: "I am following up on the email below after trying to reach someone again via phone at 1-800-386-1215 (on hold from 12:12 pm cst to 1:03 pm cst). 1:03 pm - Representative answered and after verifying name and address she placed me on hold so she could review email from yesterday. After looking through emails, found on end of last week just approved to get fridge... will not be able to get to me before 5-7 days if process today may get end of next week. Said there was missing paperwork and there is nothing they can do now. Earliest I could expect fridge delivery is end of next week. I told her that was unacceptable and I was mad, and asked to speak to supervisor, said 2-3 minutes... was on hold longer, then representative said there was no supervisor available and she could take my number and someone would call back between 24-48 hours."
I am at a loss for words on how this company continues to sell products or provide such poor quality customer service. I have been without a fully functioning fridge for almost three full months now and they do not care. I've gone through all the major year end holidays with no fridge (Halloween, Thanksgiving, now Christmas, and probably New Years). I would like their upper management to let me know how they expect a regular family to get by this long with no fridge.

In 2005 I lost my home to hurricane Katrina. I lived with my husband and son in a small Katrina trailer for 3 years while we rebuilt our home. When we moved into our new home on the 3rd anniversary of the storm, I was so proud to see my beautiful, spacious, modern kitchen with matching stainless GE Monogram appliances! The very first week, I gave a birthday party for my husband and the ice cream was melted. From then on, we've had nothing but trouble with the freezer – I just replaced the door gasket and now it doesn't have the suction it used to. Ice builds up on the ceiling. The refrigerator is just as bad. No matter what I do to clean it, mold builds up on the racks, the glass shelves, around the door and even on bottles of condiments. I've thrown hundreds of dollars of food away. The shelves and vent are rusting as well.
My gas cooktop no longer has writing on the knobs or the control panel. When the first knob broke – the shaft is made of plastic that shattered – I ordered a replacement that was ridiculously expensive. Now, the rest of the knobs are glued and taped together because they, too, broke. I loved the pop-up vent because cooktop is in the middle island and I didn't want a clunky top vent. It only worked correctly about a year, is incredibly difficult to clean, and even after replacing the switch, rarely works at all now. The control panel of my double oven started to buckle before it was a year old and the seal around the window somehow allows steam, food, and liquid to creep in between the glass.
I almost forgot... I also had the matching microwave, but it caught on fire and I threw it away before it was a year old. I've had some inexpensive "off-brand" a friend gave me ever since. Thank goodness we have a very good friend who owns an HVAC business! He's at our house often. He just shakes his head when we call. It makes me want to cry every time I walk in the kitchen. I will never buy another GE product, and I hope those who read this don't either. Let my misfortune be a warning to you.

On August 29, I purchased a brand new GE washing machine and dryer. They both worked great until after the 3rd time I used the washing machine. Suddenly, the machine will fill with water; however, the agitator will not turn, so now I have a swimming pool for my clothes. I called both Lowe's and GE and was directed to the customer relations department to open a case.
A technician was sent on 2 separate occasions to diagnose the problem. The first time the tech came, he deemed there was in fact a problem, so he ordered both a motor and a lid locking switch to try and fix the issue. The second time that he comes to my home, he realizes that he is unable to fix the machine even with the new parts. He runs a diagnostic test and tells me that he is going to mark the machine as "condemned," and he doesn't blame me if I contact the store directly. He also tells me that GE often prefers the tech to work on the issue in someone's house where they have access to water, instead of in the back of a store where there is no water hookup.
Guess what, I don't care that you don't have water access in the back of a store. For all I'm concerned, you can take this piece of crap machine and fill it with water from the Chattahoochee River because it's useless to me. I once again contact GE to discuss my options, and I'm told that they have to send a tech 3 times in order to move forward. RIDICULOUS!
Not to mention that every time you call GE you are on hold for over 45 minutes before anyone even answers the phone. I call after the tech leaves my house for the second time and am told they are going to order another part. Question: If they don't know what's wrong with the machine, who is it that determines what part is needed to fix this malfunction?
Also, I am told that whatever this part is, is on backorder until the 30th. That will be nearly a month without a functioning washing machine. I'm on hold with them right now again as I type this, only after they answered an hour after I dialed their 1-800 number. I flat out told them that I want them to send someone to my house to pick up this machine and replace it with something else.
I will not continue to stay home and have my time and money wasted when they don't even know the cause of the issue. I am transferred to someone in management after 4 requests and am told basically the same thing. I let the man know that I will be blasting on social media and I will NEVER again purchase another GE product, nor will I recommend anyone else do the same. Their customer service is beyond horrible. I also advised him that I will take this piece of crap washing machine and drive it through the front window of the store if I need to. Thank you GE for wasting my time for nearly a month.

In less than a month I had 5 service calls, freezer not freezing, very loud cranky sound from fridge, and finally the most horrendous odor emitting from fridge that I can't stand to open the door. After the final service call the service tech from where I bought it (who by the way have been fantastic) called the owner who in turn called GE stating the unit was a lemon and needed to be replaced. They were more than willing to deliver the new fridge. However GE wanted to send one of their "own people" since the unit was bad. The contracted delivery people arrived today but would not remove old and bring new into our century home because door needed to be taken off hinges to get thru our door (even tho they said it was a 30in.). So they left with the replacement. I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to resolve this issue.
The end result being that none of "their delivery people" was willing to take off door to get fridge in the house but that they had spoken to the store I purchased from and they were willing to deliver it (they had ask to do the exchange in the first place). The kicker being that they couldn't get anyone out to the appliance store until next Tuesday...2 days before Thanksgiving. I argued with 2 different "customer care" people that it is insane that no deliveries could be made to AN APPLIANCE STORE for a week.
When ask to speak to someone above them as I believed I was due some compensation for the missed work and grief I have been through her response was "We are compensating you, we are exchanging the unit". Excuse me...you think that replacing a brand new defective piece of ** that I paid a lot of money for is compensating me. I have never in my life dealt with such rude uncaring customer service! It was the new smoky gray color vs stainless steel and it is nice and does not show all the fingerprints that stainless does. From the FIRST day, the freeze door would pop open when we closed the refrigerator door.
It was under warranty and I called for a repair. The repairman simply blamed it on some loose plastic bags near the back vent of the freezer. THIS WAS not the cause. That freezer has been empty and the freezer door still pops open EVERY TIME you close the refrigerator door. Empty or full. The magnetic seal is not strong enough to keep it closed. This is a design flaw. BAD product, bad design, bad warranty service imo. STAY clear of this GE product. I am going to try to get it fixed again under the extended warranty. Updated 12/1/2016 - I promised to update my review of October 2016 after the service call. Part received and he returned to replace the gasket. It did not make any difference. The freezer door still pops open when you close the refrigerator door. Think kids, teenagers, rustling through the freezer after school. You can imagine how annoying, in addition to the waste of energy, when you notice the freezer door is popped open AGAIN. 10 months later they look exactly the same, still scrap and the springs had to be removed from the top panel to make it not stick out. We had another appointment with a technician and were told that there is nothing they can do, these are cosmetic issues and do not affect the refrigerators sole purpose of keeping food cold. My complaint is that the unit should not go bad that quick and that there's only a 1 yr warranty. I'm not sure how much the repairs will be since they will have to trace the leak down and figure what part is defected. I was told it could be upwards of $700 depending on what part needs repairing. I hope I have better luck with the other Appliances than I have with the Refrigerator.

We also built our "dream" kitchen 5 years ago and chose GE because of their reputation, style, and perceived durability. This year, the gaskets on the refrigerator began to pull away from the door and literally shredded. $450 to replace and install! GE tried to tell us that the damage was a result of spills that destroyed the gaskets. This was absolutely not the case. Yesterday while using the self-cleaning feature on our double wall oven, we began to get an alarm near the end of the 3 hour cycle. I was unable to stop the alarm so we had to turn off the breaker (meaning that both ovens are now out of use.) The control panel and oven door were dangerously hot to the touch. The walls around the oven were hot as well. The oven was no unusually dirty, but I wanted to use the clean cycle while I was home and thank God I was... If we had not been here, I'm sure we would have had a fire.
It took 5 hours for the oven to reach a temperature that allowed us to touch the outside. When we tried to push on the controls, they literally sank into the panel as the heat had melted the inside. We are unable to unlock the door to look inside of the oven and are waiting for a service call. Less than 5 years of use and quality care on our end should not result these kinds of problems.

Purchased a new stainless slate side by side, July 2015. 1 month out of the GE warranty, August 2016, the fridge side started freezing everything. Even a gallon of milk and water line to the water dispenser froze. Called Lowe's where we purchased the 5 year warranty but they could not get a repairman for 3 weeks. Called GE repair and told them we would pay for the repair, but they would not come because we had a Lowe's warranty. We complained to Lowe's. They gave us a loaner - GREAT service! They pulled out the GE side by side and it was trashed.
Lowe's sent us a refund and we went back and upgraded to a French door/freezer on the bottom. Have had it for 3 days and the darn thing makes so much noise that it sounds like a helicopter. VERY dissatisfied so far. Have 30 days to try it out before calling Lowe's again. Have the entire upgrade package of GE slate kitchen appliances. Love the look and until now - no problems! I guess I'm lucky based on reading all the reviews that my GE Profile French Door Fridge lasted 7 years. At first the freezer wasn't working properly and the local fridge tech took a look and could not understand what was not working. It was either the freezer compressor or the motherboard. Then the fridge started breaking down. Tech guy came in a second time and said repairs for compressor is going to run into the thousands and better to buy a new fridge. GE, what happened to you??? You once were the most reliable company for appliances. Now, I am stunned by your lack of service. Have you forgotten that customers keep you in business? Briefly, our nearly new refrigerator (1 year, 2 months old, French Door, bottom freezer) was stuck on Celsius for the temperature read-out. So, we called GE Answer Service for help in setting Fahrenheit. After following their advice: unplug to reset, etc. our nearly new refrigerator is now DEAD. Dark, warm, DEAD. Says GE: "We can send a serviceman out in ONE WEEK." One WEEK. Are they kidding me? I will not only NEVER buy another GE product, but I sold all my GE stock, too. We purchased the French door refrigerator, gas cooktop, convection wall oven, convection microwave, and dishwasher in the spring of 2012. Buyers beware! The quality of these appliances is terrible and the customer service is worse! Cooktop - knob broke within a couple months. Microwave - stopped working within first year. GE tech said bad door switch. He said he would order part and return in a couple days. Several days later I received a package that included multiple parts that we did not order. Called GE, tech never came back. After MANY calls GE refunded my credit card that tech used to order extra parts. We fixed the door switch ourselves.
Dishwasher - stopped working. Pulled it out and found melted black plastic on the floor under it. Called GE. Told me to bang drain cap. Dishwasher works now. They said there is no replacement part for the melted piece after sending out tech to examine issue. Dishwasher is loud and does not clean well. Debris builds up under metal screen on bottom, impossible to clean out and it smells terrible. The pic shows the melted pieces. Their solution... sell me a new dishwasher at a marginally reduced price. Refrigerator - Stopped working yesterday! Not cooling. Working with a different repair company now.

I thought you might be interested to know that GE Appliances are no longer owned by GE. They are owed by Haier, a Chinese company. Why am I telling you this? Because I now believe this once great brand has become garbage. I purchased a GE Freezer 4 years ago and it quit working earlier this month taking all the food with it. I called GE Service and the technician that arrived told me it was out of warranty and quoted $756.02 to fix it. I only paid $749 for the damn thing new. They actually had the nerve to quote more to fix it than it cost.
The story gets worse. The technician said call GE Customer Care and since the freezer was only 4 years old, they would do something for me. I did and they offered to provide the parts at no cost but I would still have to pay for the labor. I agreed and they ordered the parts. After 3 parts orders, and visits from 3 technicians, the freezer is still not working. When I called GE Service and asked to talk to management, they absolutely refused. A low level supervisor offered to sell me a new freezer for a discount which is outrageous. So we scheduled a fourth technician visit. Well, that technician told me the freezer is not repairable. I am now forced to buy a new replacement freezer from GE.
Whenever a company refuses to connect you with management, you know they are having big problems. Hiding behind call takers is the cowardly act of a dysfunctional organization, in my opinion. So my advice, avoid GE Appliances at all cost. Chances are you will pay a lot of money, end up with an unreliable product, receive poor service, and have no recourse.

We bought a new home with GE stainless steel appliances. We immediately had problems with the dishwasher not working properly and had a technician out twice to repair that; once to install a piece to direct soap from the soap dispenser and another time to fix something in the drain system. Next came the fridge; just a couple weeks later. We had 15 service calls on our fridge for the noise it created and they did everything from a software update (which you can't do yourself), to dampening the compressor, to replacing the compressor, then replaced a couple fans and motors twice! The touchscreen on the door started going out, so they replaced that twice, and put electrical tape on the back of it because they thought that might help! Then the freezer wasn't shutting correctly so the repairman had to cut a piece of plastic off of the drawer so it would close completely thus allowing the door to close completely.
After 16 service calls, GE finally replaced our fridge! Yay! With another GE fridge; ugh. The delivery company damaged our storm door, and have yet to call us back about repairs. And the new fridge, still very loud, now leaks water from the dispensing door every time you open the door (onto our solid hickory flooring) and also inside the fridge and freezer when the door is closed; GE is sending a repairman to fix that problem this next week. Save yourself time and money by buying LG or Samsung. I worked at Menards selling cabinets and appliances and swore by Whirlpool until LG and Samsung became the best products. Do not buy anything GE.

Bought 3 kitchen GE appliances from Home Depot: Fridge, range, and DW. Fridge model GFE26GSHCSS and serial TD528659. After 2-3 months, as I moved into my new home, I noticed problems of noise and food freezing up to a point of some food will be thrown away. Talking to Home Depot proved futile and I could not pass the store appliances manager after many visits and calls. I could not even see the store manager. When I called GE they would send technicians from contracted companies. After 4-5 technician visits one was able to find that there is a recall on the software and fan. However, this did not fix the noise issue and the fridge air circulation was still not good enough.
Now after 13+ months and after more than 10 service calls the fridge continue to have the problem and I continue to call to have the issue fixed. At some point after the first 5-6 months I asked that GE manager to replace the fridge and she refused citing I have to go through the warranty process. I still have the fridge and fridge noise issue and I still pay for the price of purchasing it. Few times I would wake up at night on the loud noise coming from the fridge. I strongly recommend that no one buy GE Fridge and for sure not to buy a major appliance from Home Depot. They don't have the decency to talk to their customers but they do have the audacity to call inquiring on payment schedules.

Soon mold was growing inside my juice pitcher within 2 to 3 days, inside the produce and cheese drawers too! The water line also kept freezing up and ice was forming on the wall between freezer and fridge!
The service people at Jensen Akins have been fabulous, but each time they repair or replace parts we have to repair or replace them again in a few months!! The motherboard was replaced, condensers and thermistors have been replaced and one time when the repairman came out to address the mold issue he took the cover off in the back of the fridge on the inside, and all the styrofoam was completely covered in mold and all had to be replaced! 2 weeks ago we once again had ice forming in the fridge and more mold issues and water line issues! We have spent so much money trying to fix this darn fridge, only to learn that it will cost another $680 to replace a part that has been replaced already! WE will NOT buy another GE product, and we are switching to Samsung or LG. I was thrilled when I finally had all matching appliances, only to learn we wasted our money! Do not buy GE appliances!!!

Hello. I have reached my limits. DON'T Buy any GE products. Reason: I have a GE profile refrigerator. After 13 months it stopped working. Thinking I only have a 1 yr warranty, I was out of work no extra $ to have anything fixed. 10 days before 2yrs, I was back to work and wanted to get it fixed & purchase a new dishwasher to match the other 3 appliances. Found out it has a 2 year warranty. I called, they came, replaced part. A year later it stopped working again. Called, they came, I paid for a service call. Same part needed to be replaced.
As of today's date 1 compressor, 5 or 6 inverters and once it was on back order, why on back order, guess I am not the only person with this problem. They refuse to replace this fridge especially after they had to replace the compressor they want me to buy a new 1 at a prorated price. Why should anyone have to purchase a new 1 when I just spent $2400.00 for that 1. LEMON LAW??? So far I have gone away for a week only to come home and find water & blood on the kitchen floor 2x's. Had to change Thanksgiving once because fridge stopped working with all the trimmings for the holiday 17 family members had to relocate. YES very frustrating. It has gotten so bad that the repair man & I greet each other by first name.
GE has spent more money on repairs than they would have if they gave me a replacement 1. But all the food I have lost, they give you $50.00 food replacement. I don't know about you but that only covers 3 or 4 steaks. And with 3 growing children the fridge is filled... Tired of them replacing parts. He also stated Tuesday was his day off, so he would not be the repairing technician. He thought it was a condenser issue (again).
At 12:40 pm I called 1-800-GE-CARES and waited on hold for more than 15 minutes (my phone told me), spoke with Jasmine, who told me I was the next stop, even though my window was passed, but could not give me an idea of when that might be. She advised me to call 1-800-386-1215 where I got Demetria (after another 15 minute hold), who passed me straight to Kala with Monogram. I was told I was still next, and that the technician, Michael, was about 15 miles away. I was told Michael would personally call me and let me know when he might be coming. All butterflies and candy canes. Kala very reassuringly gave me her Monogram Hotline 800# and personal extension.

I sat on the patio, but at 3:45 went to see if the technician was near. There I found a GE "Sorry we missed you!" sign on the door!!! My dogs (Labradors) would have barked if the door bell had been rung, plus the door was open. Plus, Michael was already 3 HOURS PAST THE SERVICE WINDOW!
I called Kala's extension, but she was "on another line, and will call you back within 24-48 HOURS"! So I called the 1215 number as instructed, and insisted they turn the man around, as I'd already wasted my entire day waiting for him! They said they would "Reach out to the Dispatcher." I was then passed to Rosanne at Monogram Hotline, who said she would call and see, but, "No, unfortunately, I can't send him back, No I can't even though it is only 4 pm (after another 15 minute hold), No, the dispatcher for your area will not be back until tomorrow, No the technician is now on another job, No I can't call him, No, I can't call you back, No, I can't schedule anyone for tomorrow without the dispatcher, No the dispatcher is not in until tomorrow at 8, and No, I can't schedule you before August 1st."
It is July 26th!!! My refrigerator is not working, I had to defrost the ice maker for the technician, and here we sit, no place for food, no chance for repair. Plus I am holding a $500 part I cannot install!!! ** I am now looking for alternative service. I live way out in the country, and have few options. The extended warranty company with the GE Logo on the letterhead will not replace the unit but is sending me $100.00 to purchase a small refrigerator (which will not hold a lot of food). The repair company said that it will cost $80.00 for them to defrost it... (I purchased a 5-year warranty that will not cover this issue) And the repair company said that this can happen again. So I will be concerned about what to keep in the refrigerator/freezer!
GE has sent me a company to contact to repair the floors and I am waiting for an estimate. I believe that GE and GE warranty company should (after so many repairs and damage to my floors) should replace the refrigerator but will not unless I pay $1300. And I am concerned that once the floors are fixed that it will continue to happen. I have a chronic health challenge and I need to keep a lot of food in the house for it's not always easy for me to shop. So if you have a need for a reliable refrigerator, I do not recommend GE for when there are many many repairs. They do not stand behind their customers.

Purchased all GE kitchen appliances when we built our house in 2008. Refrigerator is a GE Profile, french door with bottom freezer, model PFSS6PKX. Biggest piece of junk ever. Nothing but problems starting very early on. Here is the list: Ice/water button on front panel broken, replaced, broken again now; defrost lines in back of fridge fail and thick ice forms beneath deli drawer 3 times so far. Ice maker stops making ice - have had corkscrew thing replaced & eventually entire ice maker replaced. Poor ice making in general; ice falling out of dispenser and melting on floor; now water/ice dispenser push thingy hanging on by a thread; constant water filter replacement - filters last 2-3 months.
This was not an inexpensive appliance! Customer service has sent repairmen but refused to work with us on getting a new one after the initial repeated problems. These problems along with constant issues with our expensive GE Cafe gas stove have convinced me that GE is not the company it once was. I will never, ever buy another one of their products again and quite frankly, cannot wait to get rid of the ones we have now.

First off our freezer in our fridge quit working. Lowe's wouldn't do anything for us so they had a GE repairman come out & put parts in it. In the meantime the fridge portion quit keeping stuff cold as well. Still waiting on those parts. Tonight when we went to bake our dinner, we noticed our oven lights no longer work. Our appliances were $3,000 a piece & purchased in Jan but not delivered to our home until the end of Feb 2016. In 4 mos time all this trouble? GE is more interested in wasting my time having a repairman come out 10 times to see if this or that works then do what is right & replace them or refund us our money for their junk!!! We tried your appliances & spent a hefty chunk of our hard earned money on them. If you can't make appliances that are going to last longer than 4 mos, then you should be ashamed! Do what's right.

We have issues with a GE Cafe Cooktop and a GE Profile Refrigerator. The cooktop is being investigated by U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, so, I am going to describe my experience with the refrigerator. Within the last 4 months, GE technicians have visited at least 6 times, made 5 or 6 unsuccessful attempts to resolve an issue with ice/water dispenser. When the Control Panel was replaced back in March 2016, it was not the exact same part but the technician installed and said it was the newer model of the control panel. Immediately, we noticed 2 issues with that control panel. 1.The front plastic panel was peeling off from top left and top right. 2. The measuring system to dispense water was not working, e.g., it was suppose to tell how much of water was dispensed.
For #1, the technician said it just needed to be pushed to stick on the glue, pressed both corners of the panel with his thumbs and said it just needed to be pushed to get it to stick to the glued part. Technician brought this part from his truck. A new control panel was ordered and replaced twice; both time we had exact same issues (#1, #2). This time the technician was Kenny. He opened up the box and installed the control panel. Kenny used his hands to glue the top left and top right corners of the defective area and installed but was not able to fix #2. Kenny said he will need to order the exact same part that came with the refrigerator. We waited about 3 weeks to hear from GE.
We finally called GE and GE informed us that the service ticket was closed. I filed a complaint with BBB and a couple of days later received a phone call from a VERY UNPROFESSIONAL/UNETHICAL member of GE's President's office. I do not know who ordered a new EXACT SAME Control Panel (PEELING FROM UPPER LEFT AND RIGHT CORNER) but it arrived on June 2 and the technician came on June 6 to replace it. I called GE's BBB handling representative Gary ** and mentioned that the exact same part has arrived which has not worked on multiple replacements. Gary started to give me crap and said they will need to install and try again but I refused to let him waste my time (we wait about 4 hours each time a technician is scheduled). But, the technician arrived on June 6 anyways, looked at the part and said it wouldn't make sense to install the same not compatible part and took it with him.
I called Gary again this morning to see if he was going to order a different part, but, I was shocked to hear his response. He accused me that I have been screwing up with a screw driver to peel the plastic off and he knows what my intentions are. I think he needs to be educated on GE's products and how they function, otherwise, he wouldn't be saying what he said to me.

I purchased a new GE fridge in 2012. In the first few months I called GE more than a few times. They changed some parts, again and again. This fixing was going on and on. After the warranty has expired and signed up with PSE&G worry free. They fixed it a few more times. After a while they recommended to talk to GE. Nothing changed since then. The problem is that some moister is accumulating in the fruit compartment and it freezes all. Also from the vent on the top shelf the air is so cold that everything that is next to the vent freezes to ice. If any of the consumers had the same problem maybe you know what is the fixing solution. Thanks in advance. Next time I will think twice before buying GE fridge. And it is not a cheap one. It is GE Profile.

I purchased the above model in the fall of 2014. Since then the refrigerator handle has had to be replaced 3 times (under 1 year warranty). Now the freezer handle has broken. Each time we insisted having a tech replace the handle to eliminate the possibility of replacing improperly. The handle is cracking at the screw holes and we've been told it will cost the next time due to being out of warranty. If there is a known problem you would think GE would rectify that problem without cost to the consumer - I purchased the product in good faith. It's also the noisiest refrigerator - GE rep says "That's normal".

Have a GE Monogram refrigerator, 13 years old. Ice-maker didn't work and water leaked into the freezer like crazy for years. Finally decided to get it fixed and working again. That started the nightmare experience with GE technician and then with GE Monogram customer service. Opened 2 separate cases with GE Monogram repair, repairs and labor charges totaling $1400 to work on ice-maker. Still have NO working ice-maker and water leaks like crazy into freezer after 7 (yes, 7) visits from tech who was extremely rude and disrespectful to my wife the first 2 times out; such that I had to take time off work and come home to monitor his activities with each visit. During this ordeal with technician, I have 2 case numbers with GE monogram customer service.
At first, they seemed helpful. The Tier-1 support people seemed interested in helping out. Once the technicians decided to give up on trying to fix my refrigerator, after multiple failed attempts, the Tier-1 people said they would work on a refund for the 2nd service call, since the problem was not fixed in any way, shape or form, and I still have a non-functional ice-maker. Tier-1 support said they could only refund me for the parts and the $99 service call fee. They would not refund the labor, which was more than the parts and fee combined. I was put on the phone with their manager, named Robin. She was not helpful at all, and the nightmare continued.
Her quote, "well, they spent time working on this, you need to be responsible for it." She was only interested in getting me off the phone as fast as possible, in my opinion. I was shocked at the disrespect and the extreme low-quality service coming from a company such as GE, and the Monogram label in particular, given that this is their high-end line of products. I would expect much, much more in terms of service from this line of products. I am in the service industry myself, and if I acted like this towards my customers, I would be out of a job very quickly. Why they feel I should be responsible for them sending out a rude, disrespectful person multiple times to my home, and one that wasn't competent to perform the services I paid for, is beyond me.
I am now waiting on a small refund, and will be out over $1000 in repair costs on this unit, and nothing was fixed on the unit. It is in the exact same condition it was before I made my first call to GE. I was considering purchasing a GE microwave, as well as saving up to replace the refrigerator in time with another GE brand, but based on this horrible experience with their customer support, I will never purchase another GE product again, and will make the same recommendation to all my friends, family, and associates. This kind of poor service should not be tolerated from a supposedly high-end line of products such as the GE Monogram.

We purchased a new home in 1987 with a GE Monogram 42" countertop depth refrigerator built in, plus the extended GE appliance warranty. The refrigerator had repeated problems with water leaks and its compressor coils freezing into a solid block of ice. Under warranty GE averaged a major repair on this fridge every two years replacing water filter system, ice maker, compressor, electronics, door closing mechanisms, etc. In about 2008 GE admitted they had so many problems with this unit they replaced ours with a new one that we paid extra to add in door water and ice. GE dropped their warranty and we continued to have expensive problems. We finally found a local expert who knows these units well and his fixes were not so expensive and did not turn around and fail repeatedly.
We have a separate home water system, so almost never used the fridge water or ice. Our water filter fittings exploded, flooding our fridge, shorting it out and badly flooding our kitchen. Although we remodeled in 2009 nothing could be saved and all had to be stripped down to bare studs with total repairs costing over $150k. GE totally ignored us when we complained to them direct and through their repair agencies. Our insurance company refuses to cover all the costs leaving us over $85k out of pocket. Don't buy one of these and if you already have, make sure you fully replace the filter, hoses and fittings every few years.

Six-year old GE 42" built-in SxS with dispenser (PSB42YSXASS) - repairs started after only 3 years and now the whole unit has tanked! Estimated repairs will cost about $1700 on top of all the past repairs. Should have guessed that back in 2013 when the appliance was only 3 years old, when GE offered me a new unit at a discounted price that we were in for trouble. GE said they would give me ~ $3000 off of a similar model bringing the price to $5000. We paid $6000 for the 6-year old piece of junk in our kitchen now. I know 2 other people with the same refrigerator with similar experiences that had to get new R/F. GE obviously isn't much for quality manufacturing or acceptable customer service. Will never recommend their appliances and will probably go out of my way to let everyone know about our GE appliance nightmare.

When my daughter's family bought their new house, I decided to surprise them with a new refrigerator. The GE GFE29HGDBB, french door, model. Cost: $1,943.59. It was delivered after Christmas in 2014. In April 2015, four months after purchase, the temperature rose and ruined all the food inside. GE sent a repair person, who came out and had to order the part, a small fan and motor (dcfsev46363Wr60x2430301 - evaporator fan motor). The repair person knew exactly what the problem was and said all his calls lately had been for this GE model and part, so it is obviously a universal issue with this model. It took them 15 days to get the part and come back. In the meantime, my son-in-law had to go buy another refrigerator (about $600.00) for the garage, to use as a backup.
So... refrigerator was fixed and lo and behold the temperature rises again in June 2014, six months into ownership. Again, it takes a couple weeks to get it fixed. This time it was an "electrical repair" (I'm waiting for a copy of the repair invoice to be more specific). The repair person said it "needed an electrical upgrade to make it communicate correctly with the fan".
So... here we are 18 months after purchase and the one year manufacturer's warranty is over and it's doing the same thing. GE refuses to take responsibility for repair, even though it is obviously a defective model (I also notice, Home Depot has this model listed as "discontinued" AND the model after this one.). The last two repairs cost GE about $1,000, because it was under warranty. I wanted to return it, in July 2015, but my daughter was certain all the new parts would fix the problem. Now I guess we go to small claims court.

I loved the looks of the GE Monogram when we were rebuilding our kitchen 12 years ago. So we bought the high-end, counter-depth, built-in side-by-side refrigerator. Its one huge problem was the icemaker, that kept freezing up, or spitting out ice cubes, and leaking all over the hardwood kitchen floors. We had repairmen out several times, and twice replaced the icemaker. Then, disaster struck... we were out of town for 3 months.
We came back to a refrigerator that had been leaking into (and ruined) the kitchen floors, leaking into the walls beneath and to the downstairs, where black mold was growing and the carpet and walls have been destroyed. We are faced with a summer of repairs (covered by home insurance, of course), and decisions about replacing the refrigerator, which the insurance isn't covering. That model now costs over $9000. Of course we don't want another GE, especially after reading all these reviews. But what is going to fit into the space that was built for the GE's specs?

Refrigerator purchased from Sears two months ago. Worked perfectly for a month then started problems of not being cool enough in refrigerator to being frosted over in freezer. Called Sears for service and they said GE is now doing their own service work and will not reimburse Sears or any other business. Started the nightmare experience with GE Service!! Appointed scheduled for FIVE DAYS after call. Afternoon before appointment I called to get an idea when the repairman would arrive. He told me he never received authorization from GE to service our unit. He said he had this problem several times in the past two months. Call to GE and they said they would schedule with another repairman, again, a week later.
Afternoon before this appointment, I called to get a time fix. GE had again scheduled with the man who didn't show up the week before. This time, the repairman didn't even return calls. I called GE who told me they would set yet another appointment with the man who hadn't shown up for the two previous appointments. I objected and they told me this was the only repairmen in the area (Area was never defined but there are several sizable cities within 50 miles). I was assured they would contact me before 7:00 PM with another service appointment. Didn't hear from anyone.
Called GE and was informed they would do nothing since there wasn't a repairmen in our area. I was given the option of paying for repairs and submitting the bill to GE for reimbursement up to $250. I was furious but contacted Sears and was referred to a contracted service company (A.E.?) who said it would take another five days and the trip charge would be $129 and labor and parts would be added to that figure. At this rate, it won't take long to get to $250!!
This narrative is very brief but this nightmare has taken dozens and dozens of calls, all of which lasted many minutes. We've had to cancel plans, thinking a repairmen was coming and no one showed up. We've lost food, it's either frozen (in fridge) or 50 degrees. I'm pretty sure we're going to just return the refrigerator and NEVER, EVER purchase GE products again. I would discourage anyone from buying GE appliances, especially if you live more than 50 miles from a major city because your local appliance repair people aren't going to do warranty work. You'll have to hire and pay them, then hope you get your money back.

I will never buy a GE product ever in my life and even though I purchased the extended warranty, I feel that GE should pay me to keep this fridge. And at this point I am thinking of doing a charge-back with American Express to get my money refunded on this product because of all the aggravation I have to deal with - listening to the loud noise in the middle of the night. We had an icemaker that was discharging pieces of plastic with the ice. GE handled this issue poorly. This could have ended a lot worse if someone swallowed a piece of the sharp plastic, but GE did nothing to fix the issue nor look deeper into the issue that could have endangered someone. They sent a tech out to have us pay $130 for a part to fix the issue. $130 or a lawsuit GE, incredible. I will NEVER buy from GE ever again. Poor customer service, very unorganized. Nobody knows anything when you call, it's all a game. GE - worst appliance company ever.

Endured the fridge from the builder's model we purchased for 10 yrs. They sold us a product with a known engineering problem with fan motor. Lost 300.00 plus in food, they offer 100.00 reimbursement. Insulin was lost, issues on top of other issues...I will not buy another GE product. What, they manufactured now in CHINA TOO?!! Crap!

The flooding of our kitchen floor has occurred from the first week after delivery/installation until the present time. A GE tech has replaced our icemaker 3 times now and after a few weeks of normal usage the problem recurs. We are now on our 4th icemaker in this refrigerator. It was a good thing that we purchased the 5 year extended maintenance plan from the Home Depot. After this recent repair they are supposed to replace the appliance (if it fails again) and they are unable to repair it (same problem).

DO NOT BUY GE ADORA 27 cubic ft. REFRIGERATORS! Okay folks, here it is! I don't really like to rant and rave about things on FB but I thought why not do it! We bought one in July 2015. $2,000.00. Where we bought it does not matter. It is a brand issue. On January 14th it just shut down and died all electrical functions. Service call number 1: The motherboard is dead. Will overnight one and be BACK IN A WEEK. Service call 2: Motherboard installed, same problem. Pulled out one motherboard plug-in. It is now a shorted out evaporator (condenser) fan.
Sorry about that. Couldn't analyze that the first time. Will ship a new fan and Wi-Fi device that helps to update motherboard after fan installed. BACK IN A WEEK. Service call 3: Installed new fan, updated motherboard, it ran and looked okay. Should cool down in about 8 hours according to technician. 2 days later, freezer at 10 degrees. Great! Upper level above crisper drawers at 42 degrees. Next two levels up 50 and 52 degrees respectively. Temp set at 37 degrees. Call service department for appointment. Next available is Monday February 1st between 12 and 5 PM. At 2:30PM we get a phone call. Sorry!! Technician called in sick today. NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT IS MONDAY FEBRUARY 8TH. WTF!!! YOU COULDN'T CALL SOONER. NOW - that is some crappy customer service.
The problems run a lot deeper than what I have described. If you want details ask me. Just be forewarned. This GE fridge sucks! And I think a lot of the root cause is adding technology upon technology onto these new electronic devices. Who knew a new fridge would have a Wi-Fi device! Done for now. The frustration for MY WIFE and I runs deep! AND STILL NOT WORKING!

We've had this GE model for over 8 years now. Within 6 months this 2400 dollar refrigerator started malfunctioning... besides all the other problems, this current situation that has me posting here is the water dispenser freezes up constantly. At 62 years of age, I've been through a few appliances in my lifetime. You can bet my next won't be a GE product. Over engineered in design, under funded in quality of materials.

I have a 5 Year old GE French door refrigerator that stopped getting cold. Repair man says it was leaking coolant, and would cost over $1100 to repair. Called GE and they offered me less than $200 dollars towards the repair bill saying it is an old refrigerator (old at 5 years!) and they can't be responsible for it. This is not a problem that was due to damage or by neglect. REALLY GE you expect your refrigerators to last only 5 years. Not the first problem I have had with this fridge but is the last GE I buy. Avoid this company and their products that they don't stand behind. Take the time to read all the other reviews online about GE. I wish I had.

I purchased a high-end, $2500, GE profile counter depth fridge in 2007 and have had nothing but trouble with it. I guess the fact that the warranty is only 12 months tells you everything because I had so many problems that I stopped contacting GE about 3 years ago. Now I have, again, a fridge that does not cools and every time I open the door it sounds like a helicopter is about to take off... I remember fridges back in the day that people threw out after 40 years just to get a new one but these new GE models... AVOID... I did not realize how many other buyers have had similar issues and probably only a small percent of those affected actually complain online.

Imagine buying a fridge that is down for a month, spoils your food for a month, and GE does nothing about it. Is that not a lemon? This is what we experienced with a brand new GE Cafe fridge model CYE22TSHSS. We bought this fridge over a year ago and it has been down 4 times, out of 3 we had serious downtime, and had no operational fridge for a total of a month if you add all the total downtime -- waiting for repair person, waiting for parts, and it breaks multiple times. I bought GE not for their product but for service, and unfortunately I got the worst service and the worst product ever, and continual spoiled food. My fridge is down again, same part which GE replaced before: a fan. Yes!! Apparently a fan overheats, and brings down the entire fridge, spoils all my food. GE repair said that this fan is known to have problems - so they apparently know about this and did nothing to re-engineer it?? Shame on you GE.

DO NOT BUY GE APPLIANCES. I have a GE profile French door fridge that just died due to motherboard going. It just stopped maintaining temperature 4 months after factory warranty expired. I called GE Answer center. After them expecting me to wait like 5 days for a tech, that I have to pay for. I went out and bought an LG brand from Best Buy. I'm not giving GE any more money or having anything to do with them. Their fridge was junked!

I purchased all GE products thinking they were the best. Not so. Purchased all in Jan 2011. The main issue is the side by side refrigerator. Right after purchase it kept freezing things in fridge. GE repair man said "oh that's normal. Keep your stuff further up front." Really? What do I do put up barriers. Then in Apr 2014, the round thing in ice maker tub broke off. The round parts are plastic. I had extended warranty and they sent repairman to fix. Then in July of 2014 it wouldn't keep making ice. Came 2 times same thing, so he replaced the ice maker.
So now it is end of 2015 and on Christmas day my grandson took a drink of ice water and there was a piece of broken plastic in his glass. THANK GOD he didn't swallow it. At that point did not know what it was. Then 3 days later my boyfriend took a drink and same thin piece of plastic in his glass. He took out the ice maker tray and once again the plastic broke. HOW stupid to put plastic in an ice maker. I am just glad no one swallowed that plastic or GE would be paying hospital bills. How cheap can they be. Those parts in the ice maker MUST be metal. Long story short I will never buy another GE product. I am hoping the repairman will replace with metal not cheap plastic.

Ice and water are locked out. GE serviceman could not find the problem, suggested I return it to seller. The refrigerator works as far as cooling and freezing, just no water or ice. Been going to local grocery store to buy ice to use. This is on a new GE Profile. Two weeks for seller to replace. After having this in my house for over a week now, it is hard to get the shelves adjusted to fit all the normal height bottles (milk) and get all the stuff in there that our old side by side had. When running, it is very noisy, a combination of a humming florescent light and high pitch whine. We can hear it all over the house. This is nowhere near our old GE Profile that lasted 10+ years. The buyer who bought our house wanted it as part of the sale.

In 2012, when we purchased our new home, we installed a new kitchen and new appliances, all GE. The glass cooktop stove works great, microwave great too, but the fridge and dishwasher are a piece of junk. The dishwasher will not dry my dishes and when I called GE they said I have to put the Jet Dry but still it does not dry. Today is 12/23 and my 3 year old GE profile fridge stopped working completely out of the blue. We pulled it out, reset the breaker box and reset the fridge, nothing. So after trying to figure out what was wrong I decided to give GE a call. They tell me that the earliest they can send someone out is 12/31! Say what?! That's 9 days from today? After dealing with their useless customer service, I decided to call a local technician who was referred to me by a coworker. He arrived within an hour and was able to replace and fix my refrigerator within 30 minutes. The electric board burned out. Total repair cost was $300.
The technician showed me the cost for the part and he was very honest. I checked the part online and it was $200. He explained to me that GE refrigerators were not the best and he has been fixing these refrigerators for the past few years because the parts are not up to par. He also laughed when I mentioned to him that GE could send the technician in 9 days from today. He told me that they are union. Therefore, GE technicians can only do 5 repairs per day, and they GE is not suppose to make them drive so many miles within their area. Their union allows them to take off and not work on or before big holidays. I understand, this is out GE's hands, but why do I have to spend $300 for a part on a 3 year refrigerator? I am posting this now, I will post it on several places to advise consumers of this bad product. Next time I will spend a little extra for better brands like LG or Samsung!

I waited 41 years to remodel my kitchen. My old appliances were Whirlpool and were 30 yrs. old. During that 30 yrs. I only replaced the heating element in the oven and never had an issue with the burners or the refrigerator in all those years! In May 2015 I got my new GE stove, microwave/convection oven, and Profile refrigerator. On Dec. 9, 2015 my refrigerator stopped completely. We had to make numerous phone calls to set up an appointment to get it fixed.
TWO WEEKS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE amount of time!!! The repair guy came, said we needed a new motherboard... after 7 most! When he came back a week later to install it, he figured it was the fan! Now we are waiting another week and we are having Christmas this week and no refrigerator! To say I am p_____d off would be an understatement! I should thank my lucky stars that the stove and microwave still work. I wish I had read these reviews BEFORE I bought GE. Never again!

Purchased a new French door profile refrigerator on July 30, 2014 for $2450.00. Delivered and installed in August 2014. Had my first repair on Feb 2, 2015 for a faulty fan, under warranty. Had my second repair on Dec 2, 2015 for a recalled fan unit and the software needed to be updated (no charge since it was a recall). Refrigerator froze all of my fruits and veggies again on Dec 12, 2015. Called customer service and was easily smoozed by a consumer advocate named Laura who assured me that she could authorize a prorated cost of a new refrigerator. Called today and spoke to Keisha who offered me a new refrigerator for a mere $2,800.00. The estimated retail price was $3,100.00. When I told Keisha that it was a ridiculous offer and wanted to escalate the issue, I was told that she was the end point to escalation. SERIOUSLY???
OK GE, you "authorize" a person with minimal negotiating/enunciation skills to make ridiculous offers and tell consumers that they are the end point to escalating a problem. Shame on you General Electric! My only option now is to write to the Consumer Relations in Rapid City South Dakota. I asked Keisha if they had a phone number that I could call and she said "No. You have to write". Of course they do not have a phone number. I truly believe that this department does not exist and that this is a ploy to get rid of me and my problem. I googled the address in South Dakota and it does not have any building associated with the PO Box number. So I will write a scathing letter to the Customer Relations Dept. I will not hold my breath for a reply.
CONCLUSION: This is the worst refrigerator that I have ever purchased and GE should be absolutely ashamed of their product and of the training for the Consumer Advocate. The whole Consumer Advocate department is nothing but a bunch of buffoons. If you do not believe me GE then just listen to the "recorded conversation" that you are so deft at proclaiming at every call. DO NOT BUY A GE PRODUCT--- IT IS JUNK! But we do have a Lemon Law in Texas!

I purchased a new GE Profile from Lowe's and in less than 5 years the entire unit completely failed. It was initially diagnosed as defective coils and replaced twice within a two-month timeframe. On the third failure, it was finally discovered that the heat exchange was defective from the factory and deemed irreparable (per GE Tech Support). The best GE can do is offer me a "discount" on a new unit which is more expensive than the unit I originally purchased.
In fairness, the CSR has been attentive to my case and did offer $150 toward a $600 repair but the ordeal itself has been a total nightmare. Since August '15, I've taken off a total of 8 days of work to deal with this issue, am out of pocket $450, lost and replaced food 3x, and now have to completely replace the unit. Major appliances should last longer than 5 years and GE should do more than offer a "discount" when a major factory part has failed and it cannot be repaired.

My wife and I have 3 houses in Venice FL. All 3 houses have high-end GE appliances. All houses have had serious GE issues. First house had the oven glass explode out of the range. This problem is all over the internet, but GE repair it at our cost. Second house GE cafe electric range, 3 years old, had the heating coil and switch go bad as determined by service guy. Second service guy said only the switch was bad, but since the coil was on back order it didn't get repaired for almost 2 months. GE repaired but at cost to me. Second service guy said he wouldn't charge since it took so long, but I already partially paid.
Third house had issues with temperature control as inside the Cafe fridge there was massive moisture build-up. This fridge is less than a year old. GE came and replaced fan with some success on moisture control. I noticed, however, that the left french door flap wasn't closing completely which resulted in the fridge sucking in warm FL humid air, which, in fact, was the problem and not the fan. Awaiting repair on this. Guess when buying GE appliances it's best to buy the warranty package. Hey, maybe that's what GE wants instead of reliable operation. I'm sure they don't want that, but with all the problems I've faced as well as others as posted on the internet, one can only wonder.

Nothing but problems since purchasing this GE profile fridge. The main board has failed 3 times since purchase leaving ice cubes melting and vegetables freezing in the crisper. I have spoken with customer service who deny a problem yet there are hundreds of complaints on the internet for the same problem. I doubt GE will make it on the short list of appliances when I or relatives or friends are looking to buy. Thank you.
