I am writing this to share my experience and to express my strong dissatisfaction with the saga on scheduling an appointment for a service visit at my home to diagnose, order the parts and to repair the compressor on my GE Refrigerator which is under warranty. It is an endless process with poor communication and lack of professionalism on GE schedulers, Boswell dispatchers and weak customer service in handling repeated customer complaints.
On November 12, 2025 a service appointment was scheduled. The appointment was unilaterally changed on the day of the appointment by GE/the service provider with a false excuse that the job requires 2 technicians and they have only one technician available. How is this possible when the nature of the job and the number of technicians required to do the job is known in advance.
On the rescheduled appointment date on November 12, only one technician came and replaced the compressor. (and not 2 technicians- the excuse I was given].Nevertheless, appliance is still not working properly; in fact, the replacement part is faulty and has not resolved the original issue. These mishaps have caused me and my family significant inconvenience and requiring me to cancel other engagements in order to wait for a technician.
Yesterday November 14. I called customer service and was told to reschedule once again. I requested that they treat this as an emergency and send a technician soonest to resolve the problem which has been dragging for long. Although they promised that someone from the dispatch technician tram will call me there was none. This entire situation has resulted in considerable inconvenience, wasted time, and an unusable appliance. I have already changed multiple plans to accommodate the service. GE customer service is unsatisfactory.

Tried to get a repair person to look at my GE Profile combo microwave/oven wall unit which is no longer heating in the microwave section. They did not show up for the first appointment and cancelled midday on the second appointment in two weeks. However, a repairman did call after the cancellation to ask what was wrong with the unit. After explaining he said he does not work on the microwave portion. Waste of time.

This is the 2nd GE refrigerator in less than five years. First one kept blowing sensor after sensor which led to a discounted deal on a new fridge. Feb 2022. This one lasted less than 3 years. October 2025 compressor took a dive. Model GE 22 GMNGES So repair wants almost $800 On a $2000 refrigerator. DO NOT BUY GE APPLIANCES. They will not stand behind their junk. Yeah I bought junk. Lesson learned. The only remedy is for GE to get in contact with me and fix this at their cost. $4000+ in less than 5 years for refrigerators is not right!!! I’m in y’all’s system so the history is there!!!

Bought a 25 inch French door GE about 6 months ago. Runs well, no mechanical issues, so far reliable. Like the layout and space especially in the bottom drawer freezer. However GE is running a scam on water filter replacements where they have installed an RFID reader in the water filter assembly requiring replacement filters with an RFID chip embedded. This chip communicates with the fridge telling it when 6 months is up or the filter is leaking which shuts off the water. GE should be subject to a class action law suit as this is similar to the Xerox issue years ago when Xerox was barred from coercing customers to buy their toner. Fortunately Glacier Bay makes a 3rd party filter compatible with some GE models which has an embedded RFID chip, at least works on my fridge.

I purchased a GE Garage freezer. It quit working in 3.5 months. I lost a few hundred in grass feed and grass finished beef. I called GE. Stayed on the phone forever, then I get a pre-recorded message saying they’re closed. When I was able to talk with someone I was on the phone waiting for 40 minutes. I explained my issue, I was hung up on two times, maybe it was an unintentional disconnect!! So finally after getting someone they scheduled service. The outside company they sent had a 2.7 star review online. When the tech arrived in a couple days I told him the temp on the compressor cover was 225 degrees. The inside temp of the freezer was 72. He looked at if for maybe 3 minutes and went to call GE technical. After quite a while he came back saying they always put you on hold and never answer. He tried again and gave up. He said, "I‘m ordering a compressor."
About 3 days later I call to find out about the compressor is back ordered for 1.5 months. I call GE a total of maybe 8-10 times to wait on hold or get disconnected. So they say they’re closed. Are going to search the US and try to find a compressor. A few days later I have an unexpected box arrive by FedEx. No one told me anything about it being shipped to my front porch. I call and schedule another appt. The next week the same tech came out and started working on it, he was having problems with his torch and other things. He said, "Ok it's good, don’t open the door for 24 hrs." I waited over 24 hours and it was HOT. Not even cool air. I call GE and tell them I feel totally uncomfortable with this unit and do not trust it. I want it replaced with a different unit, that I will pay any upgrade fee. They flat out tell me that’s not happening, it isn’t in company policy.
At this point I had a case manager and was actually talking with the highest level of management and there was no one above them to make any other decision. It was a horrific experience. The repair company said they wanted to send their same tech back with someone that had a lot more experience because they think he didn’t do the repair correctly. I went and purchased another brand and I gave the new GE away to my heat and air guys who said he will try and repair and give it to his son to store deer meat in.

General Electric's Dual-Door Refrigerator lasted only 4 years for 1900 dollars. The aesthetics & design are fine. It's the inferior parts they use. No pride or integrity in their products nowadays. Made in Mexico. If you're going to purchase GE, make sure you purchase 5 year warranty.

We bought our French 3 door refrigerator with icemaker about 3 years ago after getting burned on an LG model with the linear compressor fiasco. It was always loud, but then after 3 years it just flat out quit one day. No warranty coverage left. $2,200 down the drain! I know they don't make them like they used to, but this is ridiculous. About all I can do is write a horrible, scary, review about my GE experience and warn people to buy something else. My repairman says Whirlpool and Maytag are best and most reliable. Stay away from LG and GE! That's my experience!! Don't even think about buying one!!! Cost me $135 for repairman to tell me it's junk. And $50 to haul it away....

We bought this fridge - GE Profile French door bottom freezer. It is by far the Worst appliance ever! Within the first month of having it we had to have the repairman out 3 times - first it was the dan, then the motherboard had to be replaced, then the ice machine stopped working. Now a little over a year later - we have the worst noise coming from it! It's loud and constant! I can't even be near our kitchen. It drives me crazy! The next available repairman who is able to come to look at it (and this through extended warranty) is a week from now. I tried to upload a video so people could hear the sound, and that sound is a lot less noisy than it is in real life however it was too large a file. Too bad. It would have served as a great deterrent for people. I will NEVER purchase another appliance from GE Again!!!

Model: GFE28GMKJES Refrigerator. I would never purchase another GE appliance as long as I live. I’ve been in my new house for less than six years. This refrigerator has failed completely. I have issues with it from the very beginning. The compressor failed. The fans failed. No matter how many repairs I had, it never fixed the problem and then the compressor went. Of course after my warranty was up. I also purchased a GE microwave. I’ve been in the house 5 1/2 years. I am on my third microwave. Is just a fluke. No it’s not. This is corporation greed. They don’t care about the consumer. How do I know that I had a GE refrigerator that lasted 35 years and only ended up in the dump because it was not pretty enough to bring to my new house. This is a racket they got going and they know they’re selling garbage And they should be ashamed, but they’re not because they’re making gazillions.

I have very rarely given a review, and will not typically provide a 3 star review. It is either excellent or poor. That being said, a GE refrigerator I bought 4 years ago for around $1500 must be the worst purchase I have ever made. It went out 2 months ago, and I had someone repair it for around $400, now it is not working again, and frosted up and fails to cool. Now the repairman wants $300 for a circuit board plus whatever labor is involved. What happened to a refrigerator that lasted a lifetime. 4 years? I am dumping it, before I waste any more money.
My recommendation is never buy a GE product. I bought a GE stove as well and having problems with it. Hasn't GE been making refrigerators for like 100 years? How is it getting screwed up now. The appliance man told me that nothing last more than 5 years now, but how is that true. I don't believe it or everyone would be complaining. I guess I am looking at buying the cheapest, biggest POS I can find for $300 and just deal with it as an disposable purchase.

I had been a loyal GE Appliance purchaser. All of our kitchen appliances in our past two homes have been GE. Our first home was built in 2015 and all the GE appliances are still up and running. Our next house built in 2021 was also equipped with all GE kitchen appliances, but in just 4 years our GE refrigerator GFE28GYNFFS is unrepairable and needs to be replaced due to an unrepairable coolant leak. Working with GE Customer Care they will offer us a replacement for $1,648, while anyone can get the same model on Amazon for $1,775 plus delivery and taxes (so about a $200 discount).
I tried to get more out of GE and they did offer an additional year of protection. I asked about 4 years of protection, but refused to do that. Why should I buy this product if they can not assure me this replacement will last more than 2 years? If they can't stand by their products, then, I'm certainly not buying GE ever again. Wish y'all luck with your GE refrigerators and hopefully you will not receive one of their defective ones like me. I will not risk my money on GE again!

I bought a GE Side by Side refrigerator with ice and water through the door. One of the first problems was the flimsy plastic bins would bind and very quickly the plastic broke. The bin was replaced with an equally poor quality one. Every bin eventually broke, in addition, the plastic rails holding the deli tray broke of their own accord and the drawer and its contents fell on the contents below, The water in the dispenser would work sporadically. Mostly off and sometimes on. The icemaker has had its share of problems but I fault the auger on the inside that is plastic and failed. It should be aluminum.

GE® ENERGY STAR® 27.7 Cu. Ft. Fingerprint Resistant French-Door Refrigerator. Model #:GFE28GYNFS. I waited 7 months to give my review to get real data and user experiences. This fridge replaced my slightly larger LG French door (with door in door feature) which I loved except it went through 2 compressors in 5-6 years and when the 2nd compressor gave out, I opted to replace with a different brand rather than repair. Pros: so far reliable, keeps temps cool, nice interior compartments. Roomy for my general purposes.
Cons: Ice dispenser won't fill water bottles due to size of ice chute. Ice spills all over the place or if you hug the bottle to the chute, the ice becomes lodged. Works great if filling regular wide glasses but many water bottles have a bit more narrow neck, so this is a really bad con for me. Last fridge had no problems in this area so I know this is feasible but not with this model. Also, the left door has near useless side "shelves". Based on configuration and narrow width/height between next shelf, you can't fit many condiments there unless you have 10 bottles of Tabasco size bottles. Forget ketchup, most salad dressings, anything with medium diameter like relish or jelly....so you are forced to cram on right door, but that's where you may have the milk, juices, creamers, whipped cream and other taller or bigger containers. Therefore, I must use valuable interior space shelves.
Finally, the water filter must have a true default to 6 months or x gallons of water whichever comes first before it mandates you replace the filter. If you don't, water still works but you get an annoying 34 days overdue message on your readout and that continues to increase every day. Apparently only on this precise model you can't delete or reset that message.
I rarely use the water except for ice so I'm sure I can go 1 year plus for full use but at 6 months it told me to replace filter. And they want you to buy their $60overpriced filter because it has a special RFID tag vs other filters for 1/2 price. I'm told you can get the off brand filters but need to save the RFID chip to tape near the filter so you still can get water. Also, Not sure if this is by design or a fault with my fridge but to manually open the ice maker door to dump extra ice, the lever is very hard to pull and the door sticks. I fear the lever will break against the pressure to open that ice door. Overall it functions, but not a fan of door space, or ice maker

I purchased a stainless steel GE bottom freezer French door refrigerator from Costco in 2022--Model GNE27JYMFS--and loved the design, fingerprint resistance, internal water dispenser, spaciousness and energy star rating. However in only 3 years, I have had to replace 2 plastic door bins, a slide-out shelf, the icemaker, bottom freezer drawer and fan motor.
Luckily, all were reimbursed, thanks to Costco credit card's 2-year extended warranty. However, this wasted an untold amount of my valuable time while juggling numerous family member health problems. Plus, even now, I'm reluctant to pay $50-$60 for one of the plastic bins after reading tons of reviews on the GE Appliances web site citing repeat problems with this same part! In addition, GE Appliances, for one of the repairs, referred me to a third-party contractor who had the worst reviews I've ever seen, so I canceled. This refrigerator gets only routine use by us retirees. No kids. No pets. Especially with Costco no longer offering its credit card extended warranty, I would not buy another GE appliance.

Absolutely pathetic quality product. Like many other people have said, the appliance quits working in some capacity (in our case the fridge quit cooling) within a few weeks to a couple months after going out of warranty. Then, the company wants to charge MORE than local repair shops just to show up to do diagnostics on their own lemon product. We had a dishwasher do a similar thing, also made by GE. Do not buy this company's pathetically low quality goods.

Replaced our 11 year old GE fridge with a Café model almost two years ago. GE promised a special deal only available to repeat buyers. Price was nothing special, no great deal. The Café is supposed to be top of the line. From day one, right hand door seal was wrinkled, needed replacement. Freezer door would not stay shut. 3 service visits later, the whole lower slide mechanism was replaced. Door shelf brackets were discovered to be malformed. Entire door replaced. Ice maker often melts the ice just enough so that it won't dispense reliably. I just open it up and knock the ice cubes free of each other. Service people are respectful and prompt (parts can take a long time to arrive). But they don't make up for all my problems. Fortunately all were covered under the warranty. No additional problems over the past 3/4 year but now just waiting for the compressor to fail as I've heard from other people's reviews. Don't buy one.

In mid-year 2022, I did a complete kitchen remodel which included purchasing several GE Profile appliances one of which was a side by side refrigerator. In less than 3 years, I am having to replace the refrigerator due to the fact that the compressor has failed. This was confirmed upon inspection of a certified appliance technician and the cost to replace the compressor would be as much as replacing the refrigerator with a new unit. Given the facts that the refrigerator was one of GE's top of their line products and being only less than three years old I am very disappointed in the quality of the product. With that I am also concerned about the longevity of all of the other GE products I purchased.

I honestly wish I could give negative stars. Our refrigerator is out of warranty, but with that being said, it's only two years old. We started to smell a "chemical like" smell in the fridge and freezer. Then, the "small" was affecting the taste of our food. We had two different service people come to help who could not smell. They were not helpful. We cleaned out the fridge. Replaced the water filter. The smell and the taste in our food is back. When I called back to file a complaint, I could have another tech come out and pay for the service again or GE would only replace this fridge at a discounted rate for us. They are not concerned that this refrigerator could possibly make my family sick. The model number is GSS25GYPGCFS. Make it's a fluke, but you think a huge company like this would care more about if one of their appliances was making a family sick. Makes me sad.

Updated on 07/03/2025: This is an update on my review from June 14th. After filing a complaint with the BBB, GE agreed to replace the fridge and cancelled the 12th repair ticket. So the delivery guys said I had 7 days (verified by GE) to return it if it had issues. Right off the bat (next day) - fridge is at 55 degrees, freezer is 20-set at factory recommendations. Door pops open on this one also and it is so loud I had to turn the TV up in the other end of the house!. After contacting GE by email (case worker who has yet to respond to multiple emails) and phone and being told yes it could be returned, I contacted one of the repair people, who said to turn the temp ALL THE WAY UP. Well that got the temp to 43-45 - still too warm! - and the freezer to 10 - (still) 20 but as he said, that is not cooling correctly. It runs constantly.
Many phone calls over the course of those 7days, each time, I was told I could return it (they had shipped the exchange in), but no one would initiate an exchange. I said I did not want a 3rd non working fridge and just wanted my money back. I was told told no, because I didn't pay for it!! Yeah I paid for the first fridge AND ALL MY LOST FOOD, not to mention the last 5 months of hassle and 11 service calls. Then I was told they could not talk to me because I filed the complaint with the BBB, who closed the complaint and refused to reopen after the exchange. The last few GE people I have spoken to have been extremely rude, a certain couple in particular. I guess I will have to eat the cost of the fridge and my food and I just went and bought another brand. Not a thing done on the 2nd fridge that didn't cool right from day 1!
Original Review: I bought a GE fridge in 2024. Before it was out of warranty the freezer wasn't freezing well and things in the refrigerator area were freezing-10 degrees difference between the freezer and fridge. The fridge has gone from freezing things to running warm. When you shut the refrigerator door the freezer door (still) pops open and I'd have to shut that. Fast forward to June 2025- My 12th repair is scheduled to come out next week. 5 different repair companies, 9 different techs-11- soon to be 12 - days of waiting (8-5) and changing my schedule to accommodate the repair companies over the last 5+ months. They've replaced seals, the control board, now it's maybe a sealed system issue or compressor-- c'mon! The last temp check (by the tech), after the control board replacement, was 24 degrees in the freezer and 52 in the fridge. And a week before they could get anyone out. Obviously a lot of lost food and even 24 for the freezer is not safe.
It is still under warranty because the problems started before the warranty ran out. But really, my only fridge, it's summer and I'm a senior. I was told to go rent a refrigerator or go buy a dorm one-- Really GE??? I had initially been told by GE that after 6 service calls it would be replaced. Total BS. The last repair company that was out, called GE techs each time with diagnostics and GE would always suggest something else. These repair people can only do what GE tells them to do since it's warranty. And, while some GE customer service people seem to want to help- There are some really rude ones! When I asked to talk to a supervisor, she hung up on me. My case worker with GE has not returned emails or any sort of contact for almost 2 months.
I'm beyond mad now-- I have to wait yet another week to see if maybe that is the problem and is corrected. I have spent hours on the phone, days waiting for unresolved repairs, I spent good money on my fridge and food and all's so far lost. "Go rent a refrigerator while (we screw around) trying to get yours fixed for the 12th time". The curb wouldn't be my first choice on where to stick the fridge!

I would not recommend purchasing a GE appliance. 1. In 2021 I purchased a high end Ge Cafe refrigerator/freezer CSB48WP2NS1. I paid $7,889.26 for a built-in style refrigerator/freezer that included installation. I had to pay an additional $175 to have adjustments made to my cabinets so that it would fit. The month after the warranty was up, the motor began running loud and after much complaining by me... The warranty was extended an additional 2 months and a service call was done which repaired this noisy issue. 2. In 2023 the icemaker was replaced to the tune of $371.89. 3. in 2025 the evaporator fan motor was replaced to the tune f $591.05
And to add injury to insult, I was given a choice of water/ice dispenser or no? I chose no. Well the design of the icemaker is such that there is a hole where the ice goes into the dispenser. There is no "cover" for this opening and consequently every time we go to scoop out ice cubes, a half dozen ice cubes come tumbling through that hole and onto the floor. Every serviceman tells me that there is no "cover" for that specific design.
My previous KitchenAid lasted 20 years with only 2 service calls at the end of it's life. If only I had paid an extra $1000 and waited an extra 1-2 months for a replacement KitchenAid! Never again. You get what you pay for. Both servicemen indicated that they get lots of service calls on GE refrigerator/freezer products and the last one recommended I stay with Kitchen Aid or SubZero for built ins.

We purchased a GE refrigerator in January from Lowe's. Within the first 2 days we noticed it was not cooling correctly. Too late to return it to Lowe's. The refrigerator was too warm and humidity was 60% to 90%. The freezer was well below zero, down to negative 16, frost on the food and humidity 50 to 65% . Dairy and fruit was spoiling in the refrigerator in 3 days. Frozen food was covered in frost. GE replaced the refrigerator so we upgraded to a better model, GYE22GYNKFS. NOT GOOD either. This fridge is doing the same thing. Fridge temps range from 32 to 44 with humidity 40 to 90%. Moisture in our food containers, fruit is wrinkly after 3 days, bread is soggy and the paper milk cartons are squishy. The freezer temp ranges from 6 to negative 13 with humidity 50 to 65%. Our food is still spoiling in the refrigerator and freezer.
GE says the unit is working fine. So not the truth when the temperature and humidity is so off in the freezer and refrigerator. The content temperature matches the thermometers we have in the refrigerator. GE does not believe us since the thermometer in the walls of the refrigerator says the temperature is lower than what we report. This unit was not working correctly since the day it was delivered. They have serviced it twice and will no longer service it because they feel it is working properly. They apparently do not stand behind their products. We will not buy from GE again. Their response to us is they will use our situation for improving future products. What a joke!!

I purchased a GE Profile, top of the line. In two years had to replace because it wasn't cooling. Brought another, but not a Profile, because they were the only ones who had the size that would fit in the corner. Now it's making a loud noise that I had Sears come and take care of for over $600. The problem doesn't seem to be resolved, and I had issued with Sears with the home warranty that they would not comply with. Thought they had fixed it, but it's starting to make the noise again.
Thought I had gotten in touch with a GE person, but I was told someone would get in touch with me my phone, I just had to pay a $5 refundable fee, but in small letters I would have to, like Sears pay $49 a month until you cancel and believe me cancelling from Sears was almost impossible. And when I finally got in touch with a person, they charged me $570 to cancel. Don't do Sears and don't buy GE. Also had to replace a Profile stove and an over the range microwave. Brought those altogether and apparently, I was given the worst of the bunch. That was out 10 years ago. Thought any given one would last longer. The only reason the dishwasher is still here is that we don't use it.
