Cinch Home Services coverage and plans

Cinch Home Services sells three home warranty plans: Repair Only, Repair + Replace, and Repair + Replace Premier.

It’s a pretty standard selection, but one standout feature is that it includes a $500 homeowners insurance deductible reimbursement as part of the Repair + Replace and Repair + Replace Premier coverage.

Also, its plans cover mechanical failures caused by rust, corrosion or sediment.

Repair + Replace Premier

The company's top-tier plan, Repair + Replace Premier, includes coverage for outside water, sewer and gas lines, as well as an additional $2,000 benefit for typically non-covered costs like permits, code upgrades and equipment disposal.

Like the other plans, it has a $10,000 aggregate coverage limit per contract term. However, specific coverage caps still apply; for example, the company will only pay up to $2,000 per covered kitchen and laundry appliance.

Add-on coverage

There’s also a long list of add-ons available starting at around $5 per month, including:

  • Pool or spa only (heater included)
  • Pool with spa (heater included)
  • Septic tank/plumbing
  • Well pump coverage

Cinch Home Services cost

Cinch Home Services' plans cost $27.99 to $89.99 per month for a home in Texas. Cinch Home Services offers three service fee options: $100, $125 and $150. The one you choose affects the overall monthly cost of your plan.

Choosing a higher service fee may be a good idea for homeowners who don’t expect to have a lot of service calls in a year but want to ensure they’re covered if they do.

Those who may have more issues in a calendar year could financially benefit from a lower service fee, even if the monthly cost is higher.

Cinch Home Services coverage exclusions

Like most home warranty companies, Cinch Home Services has some plan exclusions. However, Cinch covers mechanical failures caused by rust, corrosion or sediment, a common exclusion for many warranty companies. Here are a few of the key exclusions:

  • Routine maintenance
  • Items covered by any other warranty, insurance or guarantee
  • Failures caused by anything other than normal wear and tear, like mold, neglect, "acts of God," etc.
  • Costs of construction, code upgrades, modifications, disposal of old equipment and more
  • Commercial-grade appliances
  • Flues, venting, chimneys and exhaust lines
  • Items without a visible model or serial number
  • Recalled or defective items (as determined by Consumer Product Safety Commission or manufacturer)
  • Improper installation or repairs
  • Anything below the slab or basement floor

It’s important to note that each type of repair has its own exclusions. For example, cooktops are covered, but the company won’t replace a cracked glass top that was “misused” or “abused.” Make sure to check your contract for a full list of exclusions.

Coverage limits

Cinch Home Services plans have a $10,000 total coverage limit per agreement term. Specific limits vary by plan. The Repair Only plan generally has lower caps than the Repair + Replace and Repair + Replace Premier plans.

How to file a claim with Cinch Home Services

To file a claim with Cinch Home Services, follow these steps:

  1. Request service through your online account or by calling the company directly.
  2. Once the request is in, Cinch will provide a referral to one of its service professionals (usually within two hours during normal business hours). However, the company doesn’t guarantee when that service professional will schedule your appointment.
  3. Schedule the repair visit.

If your claim is denied, reach out to the company’s customer service team and file a formal appeal with documentation to support your claim.

FAQ

Does Cinch Home Services require a home inspection?

No, a home inspection isn’t necessary to qualify for a Cinch home protection plan. Its plans cover all appliance makes and models and unknown preexisting conditions.

Can I pick my own service technician with Cinch Home Services?

Usually, the company selects its own in-network professional for service, but it may authorize your claim for work by someone out of network after some paperwork. Make sure to read your contract to see everything required before you go this route to ensure you’re covered when it comes time to get reimbursed.

Does Cinch Home Services have an age limit on systems or appliances?

No, Cinch Home Services does not have an age limit on systems or appliances. Cinch Home Services covers all makes, models and ages of systems and appliances (included in its coverage list). Older models aren’t exempt from repair or replacement coverage.

Where are Cinch Home Services warranties available?

Cinch Home Services is available in 48 states.

How can I manage my Cinch warranty plan?

To manage your Cinch warranty plan, you create an account anytime after you purchase your plan by visiting the customer login page on the company’s site. With your online account, you can request service, check service request status, download plan documents, update information and more.

Can I cancel my Cinch warranty plan?

Yes, you can cancel your Cinch Home Services plan over the phone or through your online account. You’ll receive a full refund of the contract fees paid if you cancel within 30 days of the coverage effective date.

What is the waiting period for Cinch Home Services?

Cinch Home Services has a 30-day waiting period, as is standard with most home warranty companies.

Does Cinch Home Services cover preexisting conditions?

It depends on whether the condition is known or unknown. Known preexisting conditions aren’t covered, but Cinch Home Services covers unknown preexisting conditions for covered systems and appliances. That means an issue may still qualify if it existed before coverage began but couldn’t have been found through a visual inspection or simple mechanical test.

Still have questions?

Is Cinch Home Services legit?

Yes, Cinch Home Services is a legitimate home warranty provider that has been in business since 1978. Its list of exclusions is pretty simple and straightforward, with no big red flags.

We like that Cinch backs up its work with a fairly long workmanship guarantee, and its plans include comprehensive coverage. It’s also easy to submit and track a claim through the Cinch online portal.

Customers have expressed frustration with Cinch Home Services, citing issues with long wait times for repairs, multiple visits from contractors without resolution and unexpected out-of-pocket charges for supposedly covered repairs. These issues are not uncommon in the home warranty industry.

The majority of reviews on our site for Cinch Home Services are positive, though. Many customers find the claims process to be easy, whether done online or over the phone. The contractors sent out by Cinch are typically professional and knowledgeable, providing quality work. While some customers have had minor issues with communication or pricing, overall, Cinch Home Services is seen as a reliable and valuable home warranty provider.

No matter what you get, Sears comes out, in general, which normally is not a problem. They've been great on things like appliances. I had an issue last year with the heating and air. But what I had after a while of going round and around with Sears Heating & Air, I finally asked for a different contractor. Cinch did send me a different contractor, who fixed the problem instantly.

I had no heat from November to February on my downstairs unit. And they came out 12 times and could not figure it out, couldn't get on the same page. It had nothing to do with Cinch. It had to do with the local Sears. I called and asked for a supervisor and explained what was going on, and asked for a different contractor. And they did, in fact, send me a different contractor. The frustrating part was when the new contractor came out. He pulled a hose off with his finger and put his thumb on it. The unit fired right up.

He said, "Ah, the pressure regulator's bad.” He went to his truck, put it on. It was done in five minutes. I had no heat for four months, but it literally took him $9-part and five minutes to fix it with appropriate tech. So, frustrating. But again, it wasn’t really Cinch’s fault. Luckily, it was just my downstairs unit. I had heat upstairs. But something so simple, the guy fixed it so fast. But again, that was really on Sears' thing. Cinch sends me the people who are supposed to be able to fix it. Unfortunately, my local Sears HVAC guys are not that good. Luck of the draw.

I don't know that I blame Cinch for that as much as Sears. They’re kind of all one and the same, but when I did call and ask for something different, they did send me something different. We got it resolved, and I haven't had a problem since. So, I'm trying not to blame Cinch for the fact that some incompetent worker showed up with a company you would think is good, like Sears. All of my other work that Sears has done, like on my dishwasher, has been amazing. They come, they get the parts, they fix it. Boom, no problems. This was the one time that I had an issue. But like I said, when I did talk to somebody higher up, they did what I asked and sent me a different company, and that resolved the issue immediately. So, good on Cinch for fixing it. Sucks that it took that long. But part of that was me being nice and not wanting to complain.

I was with Cinch for five years and the only two claims I’ve ever submitted went fairly well. The claims people did their job and asked questions. But for the first claim, there was a bit of confusion on my end. It seemed like online was the more streamlined, and the telephone service piece was a little bit disconnected. It needed to be a little more beefed up or user-friendly. The first claim was for a garbage disposal replacement and the people were out fairly quickly and had a friendly voice and tone. So, it was good. The tech that came out was great. He was clean and friendly. He was able to quickly do the job. He showed me where and how the garbage disposal was gonna be hooked up and even improved the line from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal.

I’ve had Cinch for several years but I just cancelled or paused it, because in the last three years, I've noticed an increase in the yearly subscription. And then I've noticed that for replacement items, everything seemed to be decreasing. In the risk versus benefit type of scenario, I spent $800 to maybe only get $1000 back. It didn't seem to weigh in my favor. I’d rather, at that point, just keep the $800 and wait to see if something happened. With water, I’ve had a few things happen in the past that I handled out of pocket, like a door leak and other structural issues.

I had a hot water tank issue, and I realized it was water again and I needed to get it fixed. I quickly had it remediated and taken care of, and then afterward, I realized I had a home warranty. I did not go through Cinch and the whole process solidified my decision to give the home warranty to friends or anyone who has that benefit, because maybe they can get it at a better rate. Home warranties often get a bad rap for wanting to deny everything, and they could have easily denied my claim because I didn’t go through a preferred vendor. I had also bought a unit that was a bit of an upgrade and not like-for-like.

There were a lot of reasons they could have denied it. I didn’t have the serial number, and there was some back and forth about getting the serial number from the old unit, but it had already been thrown away and I had no idea what it was. Even with those issues, it ended up being a very positive experience. Being a recurring customer over the years, I’d want to see Cinch drop the rate instead. The bell curve for that didn’t meet my needs financially from a homeownership perspective. If there was something with more customer value, that probably would have kept me in the loop a little longer.

Michael, Thank you for sharing your experience and for being a Cinch customer for five years, we truly appreciate your loyalty and thoughtful feedback.

We’re glad to hear that your claims experience overall went well and that the service providers you worked with were professional, friendly, and efficient. It’s great to know the garbage disposal repair left a positive impression and that the technician went the extra mile during the visit.

At the same time, we understand your concerns regarding the online versus phone experience and the rising cost of coverage compared to the perceived value. Your feedback on pricing and coverage balance is important, and we recognize how those factors play a significant role in your decision to continue a plan.

We also appreciate you highlighting your hot water tank experience. Even with challenges like missing information and work completed outside of the preferred network, we’re glad we could still provide a positive outcome, that’s the level of flexibility and support we aim to deliver.

Thank you again for your honest insights. They help us identify opportunities to improve both our customer experience and the value we provide. We’re grateful you’ve recommended home warranties to others and hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Sincerely, Brooklyn

Cinch came with the house when I bought it and it’s been five years since then. I've had many claims over the years and calling them in is easy enough, although the automated system can be a pain to get to the right spot. Once I get to somebody, they tell me how much it costs, I pay that, and then they continue. I've had work done on the dryer, microwave, convection oven, stove, air conditioning, furnace, pool pump, dishwasher, refrigerator, and electrical too. The electrical people couldn't figure out the problem and said there was nothing they could do. But the guys for the furnace, the dishwasher and the dryer were good. There were a couple of other ones who said they didn't have anybody in our area because we're out in the middle of nowhere. So, it still cost me the money to make the claim, but nobody ever came out to fix anything. So, I didn't like that part.

Cinch would rather repair something 50 times before they replace it. Because if they do, people would tend not to renew the warranty on it because they got a brand-new one. I've had the same thing repaired over and over. I called them to get the dryer fixed and it cost me 200 bucks to get a $7.80 part fixed. One time, the dishwasher guy came out and it cost me 150 bucks. He ordered electrical parts and a new pump, and two weeks later, the parts came in. He showed up and said it was just the wires disconnected. He should have looked at it the first time. He then said I could keep the pump and he was taking the electrical parts. Then he said it was all done. I said the dishwasher was still not cleaning right. He said it should. So we jacked with it for a little bit and water started running out on the floor. It was still not right and he started to take the pump off. He never put the stuff back together when he left, and it leaked all over the floor.

He also told me that if it takes more than 30 minutes, he wouldn’t do it. I took the dishwasher out and had it sitting on the floor for him. I ended up replacing the pump myself. It leaks, but we’re living with it right now because the dishwasher was $1,000 and I'm not replacing it yet. It went okay and he was a nice guy. At the same time that he was there working on everything, my dryer went out for the third time. He said he didn’t do dryers but he looked at it and said the problem was the fuse. He put a new fuse in and gave it to me for free. And the dryer worked great.

About four or five years ago, right after we moved in, a tech came out to work on my furnace. I have two units in the house, and he red-tagged the upstairs gas furnace and condemned it, saying I couldn't use it anymore and I need to get a new one. I put a claim on it, and Cinch sent a guy out. He said the burners weren't cracked, so he was going to try to fix them and get them working. I told him the previous technician had condemned it, and now he was saying he could repair it. He explained that they weren't going to replace it and would only do repairs on it. I said okay and let him repair it. He put foil tape on it and said it was the best he could do. I asked why not just replace it and he said Cinch won’t do it. It’s their policy and they’re only going to keep repairing it. He has seen them throw thousands of dollars at something that only cost 500 bucks, which was what we were doing to the gas furnace.

He fixed the gas furnace enough. He jury-rigged it so that it works. But now, it's not red-tagged anymore and I can heat up the upstairs in my house. Cinch replaced the condenser unit outside, but wouldn't do anything to the furnace on the inside. Then the circuit board went bad on the main unit and the tech fixed it. I said it was 30 years old and they would only repair it. And I told them to do it.

We keep paying Cinch to get stuff fixed. Because we had a power surge here and it burned up my pool pump, my double oven, my stove, and my convection oven. The tech tried to repair the refrigerator but he couldn't get it done. So, Cinch sent us a check to replace it. I'll still recommend Cinch to people because they at least get stuff repaired and we're out in the middle of nowhere. My experience has been a little bit above average. They seem like a nice company that tries to get the stuff done. If it wasn't for the warranty, I'd have ended up buying a lot of things new. I always recommend having a home warranty with a house.

Charlie, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review and for being with Cinch for the past five years, we truly value your loyalty and your honest feedback.

It’s great to hear that you’ve had positive experiences with several of our service providers and that your coverage has helped with multiple repairs over the years. At the same time, we understand your frustration with certain service experiences, delays in locating providers in your area, and situations where repairs didn’t meet expectations. That’s not the level of consistency we aim to deliver, and your feedback highlights important areas where we can improve.

We also appreciate you sharing your perspective on the repair versus replacement process. Our goal is always to follow the terms of the plan while providing the most practical resolution, but we recognize how repeated repairs or service issues can feel frustrating, especially when dealing with older equipment.

Your comments regarding the dishwasher service and provider communication are especially concerning, and we would welcome the opportunity to review that experience further to ensure it’s properly addressed.

Thank you again for your candid feedback and for continuing to recommend having a home warranty. We’re glad to hear your overall experience has been above average, and we remain committed to improving and providing you with a better experience moving forward. Sincerely, Brooklyn

Submitting a claim to Cinch online is hard to do. Sometimes, it's difficult to find out information about the equipment you have and they want a serial number and those kind of information. When you pull it up, it asks you what kind of air conditioning system you have. And if you don't know, it's hard to choose the right one. It wants serial numbers and you got to go out to the unit and try to find it. So, the process of opening a ticket is very convoluted. It'd be easier to talk to somebody on the phone for stuff like that. Once I get the claim in, it's very fairly simple.

I've had technicians out here four times and they've all been great. So, the technicians that they've been sending have been easy to work with and they do a great job. Some have gone above and beyond. One guy was here until 9:00 at night. I couldn't believe it. I'm very happy with the technicians they were using. As far as the quality of the work that's performed, it's band-aiding for the most part, but it works. It gets you going. The latest time someone came out, it was a lot quicker than the time before it. I called and it took two weeks for them to get out, too. That was a pain in the butt. It was a heating issue. Luckily, I have two furnaces, but the other one was doing double duty trying to keep up.

Cinch and one or two others were recommended to us, and it seemed Cinch had the best coverage for the price and deductible. We signed up with them and so far, so good. However, I had to call several times to get them to change the contact information from my wife to me, ‘cause my wife works with patients all day, and she was having to forward the communications to me. Also, there was a little bit of confusion with our call about a dishwasher. We had to get an appliance guy then a plumber. Then we were about to get an electrician, just for what I thought would be a simple dishwasher problem. But it finally got resolved and it was covered. We paid the deductible to the appliance guy and for the plumber. There were two different deductibles, but it still saved us money. After the fix, the dishwasher seems to be working really well.

Other than the communication issue, for the money, Cinch has the best thing going. I'd recommend them. I was told when we first got the house that there was an app, but the only app I found seemed to be for the service people. It didn't seem to be for the homeowner. But I prefer talking to people, and I was able to get through to one after I dove through the automated menu. I like the fact that I am able to get somebody. The first time, they had scheduled somebody that didn't service my area. I called back to Cinch, and that person put me on hold then assigned somebody new. They called them themselves while I was hanging on the line and they verified they service the area. That made me feel better knowing they took their time to do that.

Buyer beware with this company . We used them for 8 years and thought we were protected until the time came when we needed to file a claim and then all the policy loop holes come out and you are immediately demined. I understand the nay Sayers who will say this is how things work but i truly believe you need the venire story before you make a decision .

As I said we had two policies for two properties . We didn't have any outstanding claims or issues as long as we paid our policies on time . Our central air broke and we called this company . The sent a repair out who inspected the unit and said this is broken and you will need a new unit . cinch then looked at our history and stated that we had a dirty coil and this repair will not be covered . I looked at my coil and replied back that this is how a coil looks on a thirty year old unit . They are not shiny and clean . They turn gray and look like they have been used . cinch then replied that in 2024 we had a repair tech say that our coil was dirty . my response was the tech that they sent out didn't do any thing to the unit . he saw a dirty filter and said oh your coil is dirty and left and billed me for a service call . I complained about this but nothing was done . So this entire claim has been denied because of a bad service call that happened in 2024. The company is completely full of crap and i would suggest that you do not use them . THEY WILL NOT PAY OUT ON YOUR CLAIM .

After a thorough review of the technician's findings and the claim history, we determined that the failure was related to maintenance-related conditions, which are not covered under the home protection plan. While we recognize this was not the resolution you were hoping for, our review supports the original claim determination.

I would NOT recommend this service to anyone. We recently purchased a new home and have the cinch warranty. We put in a service request for the stove, which the front burner does not light and the oven door does not stay closed. I have been through 3 companies now and the fourth company is assigned to our case. The problem isn’t that companies aren’t coming out, the problem is that the company submits a diagnosis, cinch reviews the diagnosis, cinch closes the case and opens a new case for a new company to diagnose. We even had an instance where cinch CANCELLED my request and we had to call to get it reopened and told we would have to pay the $200 deductible again. I will say cinch finally fixed that and reopens my case after a few phone calls. I just got off the phone with customer service, who refuse to put us on with a supervisor, whom say they have “no record” or any of the services coming out. I literally have proof from garden state property services LLC, and Midwest property services LLC. Cinch receives a submission, reviews it, closes the original and submits a new claim every single time. Customer service can’t answer our questions on when does this end/what is the process.

I call back in Cinch again delays, speaks down to me, and schedules with a mythical new service provider. This will be over 2 weeks from my initial claim to "hopefully" have some body come out.

I am in the middle of the worst service provision from a company in my life. My water heater has been leaking since Sunday. Since they have no providers for emergencies on Sunday they waited to deal with it on Monday. Since then they have tossed me around and as of tomorrow morning I still don’t have a repair date scheduled. They botch referrals and lie to you to make you think they are getting trying to get you help. For example, when I called them because the company assigned told me they couldn’t come out for several days, they said they would turn it over to Dispatch. They led me to believe someone would pick it up and look for a faster response. As soon as I hung up the phone I got an email saying that Dispatch would have a referral for me in 24 to 48 hours. Effectively putting me two more days without service. Meanwhile my water heater continues to leak. So I contacted the first provider to get them to come out. But they couldn’t because they didn’t have authorization. After 3 more calls when the agent told me they couldn’t reassign the provider I finally got one who said he could. And he apparently called the provider. In the meantime I had asked one of the agents to put a supervisor on. He put me on hold about 20 minutes then told me he couldn’t find one. So he said he would have one call me so I didn’t have to wait on the line. He made it sound like it would be soon. After I hung up I received an email saying that I had a scheduled call coming to me from further up the chain THE NEXT MORNING AT 11:30! I never heard from Dispatch or the supervisor. So now it is late Thursday night. Five days into this nightmare with a water heater that still leaks and is damaging who knows what in my garage. The provider’s plan has been approved but I don’t know if they know it yet. Since they haven’t contacted me or answered my texts, I don’t know if they are going to call tomorrow and say they can come out or tell me they can’t and don’t work weekends. If not fixed tomorrow I intend to take my case to Sears so they know how lame this service is.

Cinch needs to make this right now.

I have been dealing with Cinch Home Services for more than two months over a completely nonfunctioning Jenn-Air induction stove. I paid my required copayment, Cinch sent multiple service providers, and the first attempted repair did not work and actually made the problem worse.

Both service providers ultimately identified an additional part that they could not obtain. Cinch then told me its research team had ordered the part and that it would arrive by August 6. It never arrived. Cinch cannot provide a tracking number or confirmation that it was ever shipped. I was then given another expected date, and the part still has not arrived. That part was supposed to arrive yesterday. As of August 13th, it's not there. The service provider told me the part does not exist. CINCH is delaying to replace my stove.

I have called Cinch approximately seven times, have three young children at home, and have been without a functioning stove for more than two months. Every call seems to result in another delay, another department, or another promise without a resolution.

At this point, I have filed a BBB complaint and am requesting full replacement compensation for my induction stove. I will gladly update this review if Cinch resolves the issue, but the experience so far has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable.

Mid-July, my washing machine wasn't working properly. Cinch sent a repairman who determined there was a short in the wiring.

Here's the repairman's report: "INSTALLED NEW LOWER HARNESS AND

PLUGGED POWER BACK INTO UNIT, UNIT STARTED TO MAKE ARCHING SOUNDS AND SMOKE STARTED TO SEEP FROM UNIT, UNIT WOULD

NOT POWER ON. I DON'T RECOMMEND FURTHER REPAIR IN OLD UNIT FOR SAFETY REASONS."

      It is now August 7th.

I have called Cinch about 20 times. Three different reps have told me that the washer will be replaced, but each one says something slightly different and each one is apparently either not updating their system to report what we discussed, or is simply incorrect. Because each time I talk to new rep, that new rep says that a new washer hasn't yet been authorized.

When I check my Cinch account online, it says only that I should make an appointment to have the repair person return and try again to fix it. He's already sent in his report that it isn't safe to do so.

When calling Cinch, I've been disconnected multiple times while on hold, and the automated system glitches out with garbles or silence so it's impossible to even know what number to press for a particular problem. I've tried texting and emailing, but it seems that no one reads texts or emails at Cinch.

I finally got a Cinch rep to call back today but she said she couldn't hear me and hung up on me. I called back using a different phone. A different Cinch rep claimed to be unable to hear me and hung up. So, this is either a tactic they use when they can't/won't answer a customer's question, or their phones don't work. But when I called back a third time and pretended to be a prospect rather than a customer, the call went through just fine.

Transferred to customer service and again, got disconnected.

I don't know when or if they will replace my washer but they were sure quick to take my money for the repair's deductible.

Meanwhile, my AC also malfunctioned a couple weeks ago, and Cinch told me they didn't have a contractor and to get my own. It was a simple repair and as instructed, I sent Cinch all the documents they requested within 24 hours of the service call (I actually sent those the same day). Cinch has not reimbursed me for the service call nor given me any information on why there is a delay or when I will be paid.

Home warranty companies all have pretty bad reputations. I've used two others and dropped them due to slow response times. Cinch actually sends contractors quickly, but won't pay out and won't replace what it promises to replace. And when you try to get answers, you get stuck in AI voice system hell, are eventually transferred to an agent who, from the uniform accents of all the agents I've spoken to (lots) sound like they're based in India or Pakistan. They are (when you aren't disconnected first) quite polite but never solve the problem.

That's worse than being slow with the initial call. I therefore nominate Cinch for worst ever.

They gave me a appointment 2 weeks out, I called the contractor every day and managed to bring it 4 days closer, a week after the initial call it stopped working completely and it was a Sunday so nobody could help us, the Monday morning we got an appointment for Wednesday, the technician actually came out on Tuesday and immediately filed his report, we are now 7 days since the report was filed and they haven’t passed the repair yet , I live in Arizona it is August we actually have a severe heat warning and my house is currently 97 degrees and they do not care. This is a unit that is serviced every year.We have called multiple times every day and nothing changes, they are going backwards and forwards with the technicians over the fact that Cinch said they are asking for too many hours in the repair time, this is a company they picked not one we picked as we were not allowed to, you would think they would trust the people they hire. Our situation has so they say been classed an emergency which I totally agree with, but apparently they don’t know what an emergency is. I’m guessing if this was the winter and someones heat went out in a state where it was very cold, they would probably be treated the same way, I did find that we have emergency accommodation up to the amount of $1200 but that is with a entirely different insurance company and we have to stay in said accommodation and then maybe we can be reimbursed after we have put the claim in and they decide, my next port of call will be the BBB. I purchased a home warranty for one reason: peace of mind. Unfortunately, my experience with Cinch Home Warranty was the exact opposite. Ultimately, I canceled my plan.

When my claim was assigned to Act Services, the process quickly became frustrating. The contractor repeatedly failed to communicate, changed appointments without notifying me, and caused me to miss valuable time from work. Instead of stepping in to resolve the situation, Cinch essentially left me to deal with the contractor on my own.

The most disappointing part was Cinch’s response. I was informed they would not intervene because the contractor had already ordered parts. From my perspective, that shouldn’t relieve a home warranty company of its responsibility to ensure its customers receive timely, professional service. If a contractor in their network fails to communicate or perform appropriately, I believe Cinch should be willing to take corrective action rather than simply referring the customer back to the same contractor.

By the end of this experience, I had lost approximately $3,200 in income due to repeated scheduling issues and time away from work. While those losses were caused by the contractor’s actions, I believe Cinch shares responsibility because it selected the contractor and declined to provide a meaningful solution when the problems became apparent.

After five years as a paying customer, I have cancelled my Cinch Home Warranty subscription. I no longer have confidence that the company will stand behind its service or advocate for its customers when problems arise.

As an active duty military service member, reliability and accountability are especially important to me. Based on this experience, I intend to share my concerns with base housing and consumer resource offices so other service members can make informed decisions and be aware of the issues I encountered.

A home warranty is only as good as the companies it sends into your home and the support it provides when something goes wrong. Cinch failed on both counts.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Cinch Home Warranty.

We started out with HMS 15 years ago. They changed their name to Cinch. Their reps have been very nice and helpful. You just go online and submit a claim. It's easy. We’ve had several claims. They were good. The most recent one was the HVAC guy, and he was top-notch. He was the best I've seen. He was right on top of it. He did everything he could to help us. He did everything, because we had extenuating circumstances with our situation. He went above and beyond to try to help get it fixed.

We had an issue where Cinch didn't wanna cover something. That was their fault that it was broken to begin with. They authorized a replacement of part of the HVAC system years ago. We were having problems with the system because that part that they put in was not compatible with the rest of it, which we would have no way of knowing. They said, "That's not our problem. That's a problem with whoever fixed it last summer.” “But that was you guys. You all did that.” And they said, "We can't fix it.” But once we got to a higher up and they understood what was going on, they came back and approved the repair. The replacement was fair. I can understand why they refused at first, because it was a repair that they made years ago before, that they didn't have record of anymore. But once they went back and found out that they were the ones who authorized that repair, they fixed it.

Reported my heat pump failure in mid-June. Took them a week to dispatch a Sears tech to look at it. He pronounced the system dead with a failed compressor and coolant leak but Sears could not repair it. Another provider was assigned by Cinch for repair. After calling, he came out to get model information from the system. Then...nothing. The provider said he was awaiting information from Cinch. Cinch said they were waiting information from the provider. Three weeks into the case, Cinch admitted that they did not have a provider and sent me documents and instructions allowing me to hire my own provider. I hired a well-respected local company to repeat the analysis. They confirmed the leak but did not find fault with the compressor. However, due to the age, 16 year, and condition, the system was passed its expected life and not cost-effective to repair. Partial system replacement was not possible because the refrigerant is no longer used in new systems. I send the results back to Cinch with the analysis invoice and system replacement estimate. However, because I felt the estimate was too high, I did solicit two other bids, one of which I accepted. Now I receive email from Cinch that they need more information before they can proceed. Information that was not specified in the instructions they sent, meter readings, photographs, etc. I already paid a company $422 to answer questions from Cinch and now they want more. I argued with them that they should have received that information from they own provide, Sears, the first time, and Sears should return to finish the job. The response was "Once the job is assigned to an outside provider, the original information from Sears is disregarded". We're now five weeks into the process. Fortunately, the company which contracted to replace the system, installed temporary window air conditioners so we could move out of the basement. They sent a tech out to gather the information Cinch demanded (for the third time). Finally, after 5 1/2 weeks, a new system is installed. The next day, Cinch comes through with their generous offer: $350. Not even what I paid for the analysis. Their reasoning is that the system could by fixed by inserting a stop-leak substance, which, according to online searches is a highly dubious, short-term solution, with a low success rate. I'll be filing complaints with as many rating and regulatory agencies as I can find, as well as with Sam's Club, where I bought the policy.

My experience with Cinch has been great. I've been with them for eight years. As far as submitting a claim, I call or I make a online request and they give me a call back with the individuals that’ll be coming out to do the service and give me the time frame. Then they handle it. With the latest claim that I could recall, I had to call back because the service provider that they sent out messed up something else that was not supposed to be. So, I spoke to their rep. They work somewhere, and I barely could understand them.

The interaction with the technician was fine. It's just they wanted to say that they weren't responsible for the error that they made in replacing the garbage disposal. They knocked out the power to the dishwasher and they wanted to say that it was already that way, but that was incorrect. So, I contacted the representative for Cinch, and there was a language barrier of sorts. So, they told me to contact the company. The company ended up sending someone else to make the repairs.

Updated on 07/30/2026: So, I need to correct myself, the monthly payment amount is actually $75.00 and thank goodness. But today the plumber came at a little after 8am. He did not look happy to be here. He also failed to state he did not speak much English. So, while trying to show him everything thing, he heard 1 thing then rushed out of my house, came back in with his phone and a messaged made from Google translate that said we needed a professional plumber and he was not one. Then he left again and brought me the yellow job completed slip without my signature and left. The Right guys plumbing and heating have not answered the phone for myself or Cinch and have also not closed out the work order. I explained exactly what was going on over the phone on the weekend to the right guys and they never said this was something they couldn't do. This man who is not a plumber made sure to offer services he was incapable of providing just so he could leave. The man I spoke to over the phone at cinch was very helpful and I told him what I thought about his company, how they treat their costumers. And while its not his fault, I wanted him to express how difficult its been this whole week being home with an autistic child and being a disabled person myself. There are tons of plumbers who will respond in 24 or less and cinch insisted on using a company that made us wait a week and then ran out on us because he couldn't speak English, and didn't want to work.

Original Review: I have been dealing with Cinch since 2025. We have a home that a family member left to us in a will and trust. Every time we call and set up a work request for things that are urgent like A/C when it is 100 degrees outside, the stove which was leaking gas, and now a serious plumbing issue, they send us to a provider that makes an appointment that is a week out. When the service technician gets here they are never equipped to fix the problem that day they always have to order parts and we are without working air, stove and I am sure this time without working plumbing for another week. Everywhere we look there is 24 hour response HVAC plumbers but the one Cinch sends us to can't get out here for 5 days. We pay $165.00 a month foebthis service and $150.00 for each repair request and we can't even get a quicker response time. Unbelievable! If you can find another home warranty I definitely will not be using this one after we sell this home.

They even charged me thousands of dollars to fix it and then refused to refund me when we realized it wasn't actually fixed due to a part being installed incorrectly. On 8/14/26 I submitted a service request for my stove and a service provider was assigned to the request. The reason that we submitted the request originally was because our stove was smoking and created a burning electrical smell making it unsafe to use.

The technician from the service provider came out to our home and starting taking apart our stove (banging things around in the process). They then called me over and tried to explain that they didn’t break anything. They said that they think the smell was coming from the fan and then said they will file a report. Upon trying to reassemble our stove they explained that it was broken and we were left with the cooktop now separated from the front panel making it further unsafe to use while not fixing the original issue either.

I reached out to Cinch immediately to document the interaction and was told the situation was being escalated. They also informed me that I should contact the service provider to report the damage, which I did.

Over the weekend I received an automated message that my service order was complete. I called this morning and was informed that the service provider reported that there were no issues with the stove and no damage was done so my request was closed out.

The Cinch representative informed me that Cinch has no liability and would not assist. This is completely unacceptable as a paying customer to be treated this way when their contracted service provider further broke our item covered under our warranty with Cinch.

I purchased a Cinch Electronics Protection Plan in June 2026 based on the coverage information provided during the sales process. Unfortunately, when I filed a claim, I discovered that the agreement contains conflicting information.

The agreement has three different sections describing covered items:

In the section titled "This Agreement covers the item(s) listed below:", several products, including my Home Theater System, are not listed.
In another section titled "Covered Products", those same products are listed as covered.

A third section, "Eligible Products," also lists Monitors and Televisions, even though they are missing from the "This Agreement covers the item(s) listed below" section.

Because of these inconsistencies, my claim was sent to a third-party administrator, who denied coverage for my Home Theater System, Monitors, and Televisions, stating they were not included in my agreement.

The most frustrating part has been the customer service. Every time I contact Cinch, I receive a different explanation. Cinch representatives tell me that the third-party administrator is responsible for claim decisions, while the third-party administrator tells me that Cinch is responsible because Cinch created the agreement. As a customer, I am being passed back and forth with no one taking ownership or providing a resolution.

I purchased this protection plan in good faith based on the coverage advertised. If the agreement contains contradictory terms, that should not become the customer's problem. Cinch should honor the coverage that was represented at the time of purchase or provide a corrected agreement that clearly identifies all covered products.

I hope Cinch reviews its sales agreements, improves communication with its third-party administrators, and treats customers fairly instead of making them navigate conflicting information and shifting responsibility.

I have had Cinch for 6 years. Used them periodically and never had any issues. HVAC, garbage disposal, washing machine. The last issue was a drip from house water shut off valve. Simple enough, failing part needed replacing. They initially approved the repair and called technician back and said they couldn't cover entire $450 charge and I would have to pay $150 on top of $150 deductible. When I called to complain they read page 16 and subsection 1000 about modifications not covered. The tech replaced a failing part!!!! He did have to add a 3 inch piece of PVC after taking failed part off. Whatever, ...its always the small print. I will be changing companies primarily because Cinch premiums are really expensive and this experience didn't help retain me.

Have sewage backing up in my basement, they sent out a plumber and all he did was look at it and say it must be backed up at the street, which is outside my house and not covered by warranty. I called the county to make sure the sewer line was clear from my house to the street. They came out and did that. Then when I called them back to say the line is clear outside my house and the problem is inside the house they made me gather emails, a signed letter on county letterhead saying they cleared the lines to the street, and sent them pictures of sewage overflowing and backed up in my basement. They ended upholding their denial when I sent them all the proof that the backup was in the house and not outside the house. Meanwhile we are going on a week of having standing sewage in our basement. Home warranty companies will do anything to avoid spending their money. They are in breach of contract and I will be pursuing legal action.

The most recent was for a dishwasher repair. Because I haven't had good luck with the contractors they use, I checked the company they scheduled and I found that their business license was REVOKED in the state they were registered in!!! Also, as a warning, if a part is replaced under the plan, and it fails outside Cinch's warranty window, they will charge another $150 deductible for the repair, even if the part is STILL UNDER the manufacture's warranty. I will be shopping for another warranty company when this plan expires. One in which I can choose my own repair company.

I do everything online, and they send texts indicating what is going on. Then, the service people come out. Sometimes, they call. There may have been one call with the last service I had between the serviceman coming out to investigate and them actually doing the work, but that was just to inform me what was occurring.

The technicians that Cinch has sent out have been good, and I have had positive experiences both times I used the warranty. The first time I used Cinch, which was for the AC, I used them as a second opinion. Blue Dot from the first group wanted to replace my whole AC unit. But from what the people from Cinch told me, it didn’t need that. That was four years ago and the AC is still working to this day. There was some minor confusion with costs for the replacement, but it ended up getting explained. Overall, my experience has been pleasant, but some repairs can still be pricey even with a home warranty.

When I called up for the third one and told Cinch I hadn't heard from the service provider, the rep was debating with me telling me to give them a chance.
