    Updated review: Oct. 23, 2017

Ocwen Rocks!!! they are awesome and wonderful and professional staff.

    Original Review: Oct. 20, 2017

I called Ocwen on 10/6 informing them my house is sold and I am in escrow and my account balance is 0 and loan was charged off and I asked them what about the lien position removal. As 2nd lien holder I was informed that all papers were sent to the County Recorder and the lien would be removed now. Today I was suppose to close with escrow. Ocwen now is holding up the escrow by saying they may need a settlement after informing me that everything was closed and they sent everything to the recording office and that there was nothing to do on my part. I even have a letter that they sent to me informing me no balance would be collected, loan paid off, unpaid principal balance is zero. The representative I spoke to Rajesh ** was kind and helped me a lot and emailed me the proof of letter stating that which I gave to the Escrow Department. Now Ocwen is saying otherwise.

I will try to reach this representative tomorrow and I am trying to reach him again to straighten this out. I need this nightmare to end. My main reason was to make sure everything was cleared so, Ocwen would be removed from the title like I was told. If this is so, how can they now ask for payment on a closed account with a payoff balance of 0. This is unfair and trickery when I was informed that nothing is owed and I would be getting a reconveyance letter and they said the county recorder will remove them. I am just outraged with this experience and will contact the media regarding this asap.

Our house is financed with PHH Mortgage and has been for some time. We have been trying to refinance the same house with them, since 7/4/2017. I have done most of the work for them and as of this date I do not have a closing date. We have been through three separate people handling our loan as of today. They have lost the various items of paperwork to handle this closing no less than three separate times on three separate items. I just want out of the refi at no cost. I am going to file multiple complaints at every agency that monitors and audits the mortgage industry. This is ridiculous.

I'm a recent victim of Hurricane Harvey. I called Ocwen to ask what type of concession they were making for people who were affected by the hurricane. After speaking with several representatives, I was told that Ocwen was offering a 3 month forbearance plan to victims of the Hurricane. I was told that in Dec. the repayment plan would began and I would be paying $1,800 which is over $600.00 more a month than my regular payment until the 3 missed payments were paid in full. She assured me that my credit would not be affected during the 3 month forbearance. Because I was in crisis, I agreed. I had to evacuate my home, I lost my car and suffered damage to my home. I've yet to hear anything from TWIA regarding my claim.

Ocwen sent me a questionnaire regarding my experience with. I filled it out and expressed my disappointment regarding their forbearance plan. I received a call from Mrs. ** and explained my situation. She informed me that a lot people were in the same position but at that point Ocwen had not made any other concessions (real options) to help other than the Forbearance Plan. She suggested that I call back periodically to check to see if there were any other options that had become available because they were having meeting regarding this matter.

The first part Oct. I called to see if any changes had been made to the forbearance plan. I was told that this is the only offer Ocwen attended to give its customer. It's my opinion that the people that are making these decision were not affected and are setting people up for failure. They have no real idea or understanding of the devastation this hurricane. It will take people much longer than three months to get back to normal. And to add insult to injury if you take the forbearance your mortgage increases after 3 months.

I was affected by Hurricane Ike and the mortgage company I was with put 3 payments to the end of my loan. I've been reading articles about how Texas has filed a cease and desist order against Ocwen where they can no longer offer Texas residents loans. In the article are with there was a long list of reasons why they were filing the cease and desist but not helping the consumer was one of the reasons. A representative told me that I could file for a modification but by the time that happens your credit is ruined.

I called customer service to set up an automated bank draft for my new home loan. I had refinanced my home to gain a better interest rate and to access equity for renovations. I needed to cancel the auto-pay on the original loan and set up a draft that reflected the change in amount to pay per month. Vivian (I think that was her name) did a great job of coaching me through the process. I used the www.ocwencustomers.com website to set the whole thing up. Additionally, Vivian sent me paperwork to make the request via mail in case I had difficulties with the technology side of making arrangements. It was all very easy to do, and I didn't need the paperwork that came in the mail. However, I did appreciate having the security of that back-up option. My first note on the new loan will be on time and so will all of my other payments. Thanks, Vivian!

I have a mortgage serviced through Ocwen - and by serviced, that means they do not 'own' the loan, but work for someone who owns the loan. This puts them in a lucrative position because if you need help with refinancing or loan modification, they simply blame the owner and offer ZERO assistance. I pay my mortgage every month BUT never am I able to pay on the 1st - instead, I end up having to pay the mortgage PLUS a penalty because I can't pay until my second pay period of the month. I sent in all of my financials and yes, it looks good on paper and I do pay my loan, BUT barely able to do so each month. I take responsibility for my financial situation but when asking for help and none is given, it's very disillusioning. My salary looks good, but it is my gross salary that they are looking at, not actual take home which is considerably less due to insurance costs and taxes.

I was basically told that because my loan is not in jeopardy of foreclosure that they could not (would not really) be able to help. PERIOD. No help with refinancing or anything - I absolutely know why and that is because out of my tiny loan, which is just over $80k, my payment is $746 per month - OF THAT, only about $99.00 (that's right, ninety nine dollars - not $190 or $290, etc, but $99). GREAT payoff for these lowlifes subprime vultures. I hope that I will be able to refinance at some point, but kind of stuck with Ocwen - very unhappy with them and their customer service is terrible as well. Never reach anyone who speaks English clearly and really feel sorry for ANYONE who has an account with this "company" and who has their loan serviced by their so called banks.

PHH Mortgage and their investors, purposely have procession designed to abuse and torture the parties involved in attempt to chase away from the sales deal. Once they achieve their goal chasing the parties away, they force a foreclosure to dump property on Secretary of Veteran Affairs. This also damages the young military families credit history and taste of home ownership in the future... All because they used PHH Mortgage to lend on their home purchase. I was informed that I need to write to you concerning my recent involvement with your company in order to file a formal complaint. I am writing to inform you of the unsatisfactory customer service I received dealing with several of your employees, including Mohammed Employee # ** (I did not document all the other people I talked to). It all started with an email I received on May 26th from the Ocwen Financial Corporation that also featured Homeward Residential. It clearly stated some very confidential information including my Loan #, the value of our home and the available equity in our home that was to be used for a home equity loan. It then asked to click on a link to set up a time for a Homeward representative to call me which I did. No one ever called.

Several days later I filled out the link for a representative to call again and still no one called. So I then called the 800 # listed and waited over 40 minutes on hold. Then the person from Homeward who answered said he could not help me without Ocwen's permission. So I had him transfer me to Ocwen which is when I spoke to Mohammed. After a lot of back and forth with Mohammed he then transferred me back to Homeward and I talked to the same person from before who told me he could not help me without Ocwen's permission.

I have had my mortgage with Ocwen Financial Corp. since 2003. Along the way, here and there, I had fallen into hard times, where timely payments became impossible. Ocwen, despite many late payments on my part, as well as long gaps between payments, worked with me in a courteous, professional manner. Helping to solve my overall situation, I now pay my real estate taxes and property insurance monthly via escrow to Ocwen when I make my mortgage payments.

This, after Ocwen, for a second time, offered to re-work my loan at an even lower interest rate, which included all back payments in said loan, which has allowed me to get back on my feet, financially, now able to make all monthly payments to Ocwen before the due date. At a time when Ocwen had every reason and right to foreclose, they instead made it possible for me to remain in my home. I would absolutely recommend Ocwen Financial Corp. to anyone interested in the services they provide.

Having been a customer for over 15 years with our mortgage through Ocwen, we trusted them. We signed a balloon mortgage 15 years ago and was told when it came due we could just refinance with them. 15 years came this October, 2017 and we were told that they would not refinance our loan and we had to come up with balance, which was $98000, to keep our home. No modification or loan extension would be given.

We found a company that would refinance the loan. That company sent the payoff to Ocwen and was received on Sept. 1. Ocwen accepted the payoff and the balance of our loan was $0. 3 weeks later, Ocwen reported our loan to the credit bureau as being 30 days past due, even though the entire loan was paid off. When I called to talk to them, they would do nothing about it, and because of this negative reporting, my credit score went down almost 100 points.

I would never recommend Ocwen to anyone. They seem to be nothing but a loan shark and make it almost impossible to get ahead with your mortgage. I am very disappointed and angry that a company would take advantage of someone who has been a customer for so many years and has never been late on the mortgage payment during that time. They have no interest in helping out their customers even though that's what they advertise. They are only concerned that they get your money. Bad business practices Ocwen!!!

Ocwen's customer service is the absolute worst ever! Every time I call, I get a foreign speaking customer service representative, even though I have requested a USA representative ONLY on my account. I called and requested a payoff affidavit which was to be overnighted to me the following day. The FedEx envelope arrived, EMPTY. I called Ocwen immediately and of course a foreign speaking woman answers as usual and after several attempts of trying to explain to her that the payoff affidavit form was missing she places me on a brief hold. She comes back on the line, only to let me know that the department I need to speak with is gone for the day, being that they close at 5:00 p.m. central standard time, which is the same time zone that I am located in as well and it is only 4:24 p.m. We went back and forth and I am pretty sure she called me by my formal name at least 30 times during this nearly one hour phone call.

I could not understand anything she was saying and she continued to use words like "uh" and "okay" and clearly didn't know her English. I was very irritated and explained that I wanted to speak with an English speaking representative in the states, but she continued to speak and repeat my formal name over and over. Finally near the end of our conversation, she says, "Oh, the payoff affidavit was missing from the envelope we sent you?" It was like bells went off and she finally understood me, but informed me that I would need to call back in the morning, as that department was closed for the day. I was livid, I will not lie about that and I let her know how angry I was that it took nearly an hour for her to understand what my original call was for. I ended the call and my husband called another number for Ocwen.

Once again, we were transferred around at least through four different representatives, each one, giving a name, a badge number, listens to my complaint and transfers me onto the next representative, only to repeat myself over and over, it's like a three ring circus. Finally a representative comes on the line and explains that I am in the wrong department and she will need to transfer me once again. After a lengthy phone call, a female who actually speaks English comes on the line and apologizes for Ocwen's error of not placing the payoff affidavit in the FedEx envelope and will have to resend the form the next morning, which means, I won't receive it now until Friday morning.

It's Wednesday now, we requested it on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. So now we are four days into something as simple as a piece of paper that should have been sent from day one. I spent nearly two hours of phone calls to a foreign customer service company and got nowhere. What is the point, Ocwen is wasting their money by outsourcing to a foreign call center and frustrating a lot of their customers. I cannot wait to be done with this mortgage company!!! What a nightmare!!! All I want to do is pay my mortgage off and BE DONE with Ocwen for good and they can't even get that done without me jumping through hoops for them!!! P.S. I only gave them one star, because no stars wasn't an option.

I was told that they included all charges and fees balances that are on my account into my 6 months repayment plan. In the past I was told those amounts had to be paid before the end of the loan. Is this a plot to foreclose on my house. I need help not a kick while I'm down. I have had the displeasure of having Ocwen as my mortgage company for more than 5 years now. I did not choose them. My mortgage was sold to them. Their customer service has been consistent... consistently horrible, that is. My latest problem took 5 mos to resolve. It was an error on Ocwen's part. My payments have been on-time and more than the minimum EVERY MONTH. So you can imagine how upsetting it has been to have the company make mistake over mistake, and not even know how to fix it.

However, thanks to 2 employees (both of them were NOT first-line reps... I had to push to get my issue escalated), at least I know now that I have some contacts within Ocwen that will actually help me and fix the company's mistakes. I would not recommend this company to anyone. However, I am hoping these two people are an example of change coming. No one wants to have a company holding their MORTGAGE that they don't trust. So far, that is (sadly) my experience with Ocwen. But, I am hopeful that it may be changing... that is why they got 2 stars instead of just 1.

I fell back in 2 months in paying my mortgage. Ocwen wasn't working with me at the time to help me catch up. This was somewhere around 2011-2012 maybe. Even asked if they could put those 2 payments in the back of my mortgage, as other companies were doing. Ocwen bought my loan from Countrywide or Freemont Loan when the companies were going under for giving high-risk people loans.

I had to hire a lawyer to keep from losing my house of 20 years. I had to pay to file chapter 13 and attorney costs and was put through hell. My home was put up for auction twice and I was very stressed. Finally I had my mortgage's monthly payment was at an affordable house, seeing I was paying the mortgage myself, being on disability and tenants who didn't pay rent to me. That caused me to fall behind on my mortgage in the beginning of all this. Although Ocwen finally worked out something through Bankruptcy court, I was highly stressed out with the thought of losing my home.

I have had a reasonable experience with Ocwen as they had serviced my first and second for many years and never really had a reason to interact with them personally. But, my trouble arose when I sold my house... Between the time my escrow company ordered the pay off and closed escrow, somewhere in the mix Ocwen received the payment 2 days late. That resulted them in reporting me to the credit bureaus that I had made a payment over a month late. My trouble has begun there... While trying to communicate with everyone at Ocwen my issue, they all seem to understand and agree that it was unfair to report my credit with the late payment when I have have had great history with them and they see the payoff come through (which still has me as a current loan holder on my report) but no one really wants to do anything about it.

All I am given is a canned response in which that is the company policy and we do not look at the human aspect of the issue and see that it was not my fault. I was directed to fax a letter to the research department, in which I did and waited 9 days and called back to talk to a representative from that department which I was told was only a "back office" and they do not communicate with anyone on they phone. So... after 40 minutes or so pleading my case with a phone rep, he finally said he would connect me with the research department that was earlier unreachable... Hmmm... To which is was greeted with the same canned response. I will continue to dispute this issue with them, but with the level of nonhuman-like reaction from their customer service department. I would never use or will never recommend them to anyone I know.

If that's the case we should never have been given one. My father passed away May 2016 so they took him off. We received a loan modification in June 2016. We started making payments. They never applied the payments. I kept asking about it. But found out we were put into foreclosure. I have been in constant contact with Ocwen. We reapplied and were denied twice. I put in a complaint and said I could resubmit our paperwork.

I was gathering it together yesterday when I received 6 letters saying we needed to be out by October 19th. 2 addresses to me, 2 addresses to my husband, one addressed to my father's estate. After a few months of submitting document after document (a lot of resubmitting the same documents because they would have no record of said documents) they gave me a list of some 20-30 documents to submit in a short order. They would give us the modification. We managed to get all of the documents in the short time frame, they said they would do it in the next month. We were very relieved to finally hear this response.

The week before the modification was supposed to be finalized they sold our loan to Ocwen and never informed Ocwen of the modification at all. My family was shattered, and we were sure we were going to lose our home. After speaking with the people with Ocwen they assigned my loan modification to a man named Altemesh ** (spelling). Within the next month we submitted all of the documents and got everything signed and ok'ed in very short order. Altemesh helped me and my family keep our home, and he will always be in our thoughts and prayers. I've heard some negative stories about Ocwen, but those are nothing like the experience we have had. It sounds kind of corny, but Ocwen and Mr. ** have changed my family's lives for the better. Thank you.

Right after Hurricane Harvey left Houston and its surrounding areas under water I called Ocwen about a 3 month forbearance. Without hesitation or any runaround I told I was eligible and within minutes after brief hold it was set. Three months of deferred payments to assist me and my family in our time of need. I've had a mortgage through Ocwen for over 10 years and I'm totally pleased with how it's been handled from the Modification to this forbearance. Everything had always been simplified and gone smoothly.

Recently, I had questions regarding the terms of my loan and they were quite helpful and knowledgeable about what I needed to be aware of. I have been with limited income since June 2016 due to lay off. Each time I would apply for a loan modification, Ocwen would increase my mortgage payment. I do not understand how you would offer assistance if struggling with payments due to income reduction. Then you would not reduce the payment but increase it by $131 and informed it was a trial period and all past balances were added to the current balance - the reason for the increase. However, I have found out that the payment is not a trial and the payment will not reduce. Also, that the $131 was for my escrow account for property insurance.

I am paying property insurance with my insurance provider. Why would you take money that is not needed for my property insurance? It has been very frustrating trying to make payments and continual payments for obligations that did not change after lay off. I have just about drained out my 401K to try to help, but I have just about ran out of trying. Ocwen is not helping but just waiting for me to get behind so they can have a short sale or foreclosure sale. It is all about how much they can have and not about helping those in need as they are currently advertising on the web page for Hurricane Harvey displaced individuals.

My credit score has dropped and late payments are not getting resolved due to the increase in payment and limited income. I do not understand the tactics except waiting to steal and destroy one's life. I have been in this home since 1985, but the way that Ocwen is conducting business, the stay may end, if they are not going to help. I do not want that to be true, but what else can you do. HARP will not allow me because of late payments and low credit score. Thanks very much Ocwen for failing me..

I received a letter to refinance, called them and talked to loan officer Dailyn ** (direct # **). The first I asked her if it will going to be any problem with the refinance of my apt."Why?" she said. I said because Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae doesn't allow in a condo a single owner to own more than 10% of the units if someone is going to apply for a loan in that condo to qualified. She said to me, "That is not a problem because you are going to refinance with your mortgage company." Then she started asking me the regular questions and at the end she told me to go with the process. I have to pay for an appraisal with them, $495.00. I said, I'll think about it.

A few day later after she called me a few times more. I agree to pay the $495.00 for the appraisal but I asked her one more time, "Are you sure that is not going to be a problem with my approval because of the freddie mac and fannie mae thing?" She said again that it's not a problem because I was applying with my mortgage company. A few days later I received a letter via email denying my application. When I called the loan processor, Jose ** (phone #1-866 - 612- 2844, ext **), he said to me it was denied because a single owner owns more 10% of the units in my community, exactly what I told Dailyn ** the loan officer from the beginning and she said wasn't going to be a problem. I've been calling her for a week without a call back from her. Now I have a couple hard inquiries on my credit report for the next few years and $495.00 charge on my credit card. If she doesn't know what she is doing it's not my problem, I want my $495.00 back!!!

Our mortgage was sold to PHH Mortgage over 1 year ago. I had given approval for automatic draft to the prior lender so apparently it transferred to PHH Mortgage. A couple months in I was told that I didn't have sufficient escrow allocated so set up a higher automatic payment per month with them. For several months my savings account was drafted twice -once for the prior and once for the new amount. I called several times to sort this out and each time they gave me a different explanation. Finally I put a 'stop payment' for one of the payments through my bank.

Now they are charging me $50 service fee for this, even though they acknowledge that my account is in good standing. They say there is no record of me calling to cancel one of the two payments!?!? Months of frustration with this company. I refinanced for the same rate just to get away from this company. I cannot prove it because I'm not an expert but this company seems to have fraudulent practices. I will never deal with them again.

Why they can't do an EFT in this day in age is beyond me. They will harass you if they haven't received money owed to them, but will hold onto money owed back. They again sent the exact same check back which I have returned again to them. Thinking if you cash their check they have a hand up on you.

Since this incident supposedly they have not received my last 2 payments of course there will be late fees (though for the last 1.5 years they have not had a problem receiving my payments). I believe they do this in order to try to rip people off. I have reached out to a real estate attorney. Maybe there is an attorney we all can file a lawsuit with against them. The Home Modifications packet was very useful to me by getting it online, so I could be able to read and analyze the files faster to be able to save my home in time. All my information was the basics information that was very easy to find and convenient for me. All the forms were based on facts and I took my time to carefully read them and fill them out. I checked all the information and numbers to make sure they correct and made sure to sign and verify what I signed by reading the forms. I also made sure to include the forms needed for the documents to be processed and qualify for this home modification. I also made sure to include other information that may come in need for this process which was required as the forms say.

I was very satisfied with this problem and did not receive any complications with filling out the forms or receiving them. The only problem was that the forms were pretty long because of the twenty pages but it was just making sure most of the information was correct and for signatures where needed. I also made sure to read the forms carefully such as in section 13 so I would not sign the wrong thing of information that is not required of me if not in need or if I do not have it. I also acknowledge the agreement and appreciate the consideration. Hopefully you and your associates find this information useful and you receive my forms and papers by fax.

We had Ocwen for our mortgage company, we applied & got approved for a loan modification. We were told that it basically was like a 2nd loan on our house to make us current which it did. We were told that if we would ever sell the home not only will the first lien/loan be paid but the 2nd lien/loan would be paid as well with the home sell... Well this did not happen. I have now been turned over to the U.S. Department of Treasury because I am unable to pay for what Ocwen said would be released upon paying off my loan. I have a letter stating this fact from the title company that requested the payoff amount for both loans and it still does not show paid so they are still coming after me. I contacted Ocwen and was told it is no longer their concern because they received their money. I have already reported them to the BBB. My next step is to obtain a lawyer and sue.

We have unfortunately been with Ocwen since GMAC closed. They've never been willing to work with us, but have no problems sending us threatening letters or harass us in phone calls. In 2009, I had life threatening complications after delivering my 2nd child. We experienced a lot of extra expenses, loss of income etc, I was unable to return to work after 3 months. I tried contacting them and they wouldn't work with us, didn't offer us any help, besides barely being able to understand them since their call center is in another country.

We ended up getting a few payments behind, however we got our payments caught up. Fast forward to Nov 2015, I found out I was being changed from 40 hrs a week to 26 hrs a week. The following Monday, I contacted them as I originally was supposed to change to part time 32 hrs a wk Jan 2016. They again refused to work with us, so even though we made our payment each month it was due, yes, right after the grace period they marked us late for 5 payments. They charged us so many "other" fees & late fees that it was over $3400. I called wanting to know exactly what these fees were and they couldn't tell me and refused to remove any.

Fast forward to 3/2017, I was placed on a medication that inadvertently caused cardiac issues, I was placed on bed rest and had no vacation to cover this the 1.5 wks. I called them and was up front as to what was going on, I asked if they could work with me. All they said was, "Your payment is due. We'll be marking you late by the 16th and we cannot stop calls until you have paid us." So up to 8 phone calls a day from them. 2 months later, call them again and let them know we were taking a draw from our 403b to get the current month and "other" fees paid, and that the soonest we could do this was the 20th and would they waive the late fee since we were paying it all, over $3800 to be exact.

They told me, "No, if you don't pay it all by the 15th it will be late." So I just need to pay it on the 15th. Even though our draw wouldn't arrive until the 20th. Not only did they charge us a late fee, paying June's payment online, and specifically typing in the fields for late fees and other fees of how much we were paying it was a relief. Only to find out a week later they took 50% of our other fees and applied it to the next month's mortgage, which we didn't ok. So now we owe 1168 in other fees still!! We also received a receipt almost 2 wks after paying that they received our payment!! They then kept our acct delinquent until this week 8/17 even though we're in good standing. Horrible company, we are hoping to sell next July and I hope to God we never get them again. They don't deserve any stars.

Prompt and thorough processing and communication, with no hidden, unexplained charges. The interest rate on my ARM has risen less than .5 percent in 10 years. I work in a customer service position where mortgage documents are often presented. When I see OCWEN documents, I often ask about my customers experience. I have met many satisfied customers. I have been unhappy in the past with Ocwen's handling of tax escrow payments. I called and faxed the information to Ocwen. Only time will tell if it is paid on time to get the 2% discount. There is plenty of time from my notice to them to send the payment to the tax collector and more than enough funds in the escrow account to pay the amount due. Nevertheless, I believe that Ocwen could not care less whether I get the discount or not. Ocwen ONLY cares about the lender/mortgagee/who it works for and NOT the mortgagor/borrower/customer(s) from whom the money is collected. Nevertheless, the US based operator seemed to genuinely care that my account was properly handled and "promised" that it would be paid in time for the discount!

We tried for a loan modification roughly 2 years ago after never missing a payment. They sent us out the paperwork and we were told that in order to apply for the modification we could not be current with our payments. They told us it would take no more than 3 months for the modification to go through and that with our circumstance it should be approved. They wanted us to make a trial payment while the modification was under review. We read too many things about homeowners being told to make trial payments so the modifications would go through, then the modifications took way longer than the 3 months and in the end they were denied anyway and given a huge bill as the trial amount was never accepted as your payments. We told them no thanks and did not sign anything and kept going on making our payments.

About 7 months later we get a letter in the mail saying our trial modification was denied and we needed to make a lump payment sum of roughly 10k or they would start foreclosure procedures. We got multiple phone calls daily from them telling us that they were collecting a debt and if we didn't pay the amount they would foreclose. We kept explaining to them we had never missed a payment and we didn't owe them any late payments. It took us over a week and a half of us calling them constantly, we finally told them to send us they paperwork where it showed anything that we signed to be put in a trial modification program. Every day we got their robo-dialer calls saying they were collecting a debt and we were behind. They realized they had no such form and finally agreed to look into it. It took them a few weeks more before they finally came back that we never agreed to the trial plan.

A few months later we get bill saying we never paid our ins/taxes. Per them we had to come up with over 6k or our mortgage was going to go up 500 a month because we were behind. Again we had to take weeks to explain to them we were not behind and it took them over a month to figure out they had us listed for a trial modification plan that we were never in. They actually took so long, "their" new amount actually went in to effect. Now a year later we get told that our equity mortgage payment is going up on 7/5/2017 and that we need to make our new payment. They have sent us nothing with a new amount so we called yesterday and we were told that there is nothing in their system that shows our payment is increasing and it's the same it has been. Their website shows upcoming payments changes for 8/20/2017 and nothing is changing.

I had the wife call again today with the letter in hand because every step of the way Ocwen has been nothing but shady and dishonest. So today we get told they can't give us an exact amount but it looks like the payment is going up over 800 a month. It is a nonstop beat down with this company, I feel absolutely horrible for people that have gone through this same kind of stuff but haven't stuck with it to try and fight their way through. Ocwen appears to try and beat you into submission ever step of the way. The worse part is these are mistakes on their end and it means nothing to them.

I believe Ocwen is bound and determined to get us to foreclose even by doing shady tactics to get there. To get a letter denying us a modification that we were never in just proves it. We never once got a late payment letter or phone call say we were behind prior to the denial letter and then after that letter came they were nonstop. That letter was just an automated thing a computer spit out and mailed to us, that means no matter if we had choose to go that trial route that denial was already scheduled 7 months later.

Updated on 07/31/2017: Since I wrote my first review on Ocwen just under a month ago the following has occurred: My next due payment (Aug 20th) has all the sudden gone up an additional $895.00 with not a single letter or phone call saying why or where this number comes from. But on the upcoming payment changes part of their website this number is nowhere to be found just our current payment amount (showing due Aug 20th). We have for the past 3 weeks received a phone call from their ombudsmen saying they were looking into our issues (they will not tell us what they are looking into, just that they are looking into them and need more time). When asked about the payment increase they know nothing on where the amount came from or why it is the amount it is. Just told that they need more time.

I pointed out that the amount is wrong and asked them to at least put that amount on hold and let us pay the normal amount until they get us an answer on why the amount has gone up by so much. I was told they can't do that. I have had multiple times where the payments have been wrong on Ocwen's part that I have had to pay that they later went back and changed to the correct amount. So with 3 weeks to go till this "new" payment no one is telling me anything other than they need more time. So now I am suppose to suffer because Ocwen doesn't have their stuff together? Again I 100% think Ocwen's goal is to have us foreclose on my home.

I just refinanced my house and I am so happy to be free of Ocwen! I have never had a good experience with them. For a long time I couldn't see my account because they were emailing statements and password reminders to an email I could no longer access. Phone calls and faxed letters to the technology department were ignored. Finally I asked to get paper statements. I had to make that request 3 times before an analyst finally made the change.

During the recession I lost my job and had to take a new one at a third of the pay. I was behind on my mortgage and Ocwen did a modification but I had to borrow money from my Dad to bring the mortgage current and they charged me title fees which were placed at the end of the term as a balloon. Then I went through a divorce. The house was underwater at the time so a refinance wasn't possible. Ocwen said the owner of my mortgage wasn't participating in HAMP, so my lawyer wrote into the divorce decree that I would refinance at my earliest opportunity and my ex would quit claim of the house. In addition my lawyer wrote specific language that my ex forfeits any rights to the home or the equity in the future. My ex and the judge agreed.

I was finally able to refinance last month and called Ocwen prior to the funding to ask them how I should handle the escrow refund. They told me to write a letter and fax it to the research dept with my divorce decree and quit claim and ask for a family take over. I did, but Ocwen sent a letter saying they can't do anything about the check - it will be sent with both my name and my ex's name. They said I had to get a court order if I want the check in just my name even though both the divorce decree and the quit claim are recorded. It will cost more to hire a lawyer and go to court than the check is worth.

My ex husband has moved out of state and I can't reach him. Even if I could the bank said with the new AML laws they won't deposit it even with his signature if we don't have a joint account. I can't be the only person in the world to get a divorce and refinance a house. No one has a viable option for me. I guess I am out the money. I am just glad I will never have to deal with Ocwen again.

I've had two mortgages with PHH, neither of which originated with them, but were mortgages that they bought the paper on. I just sold one of the homes, which I hadn't seen in 7 years. We had to hold onto it and rent it out because of market conditions, lost all my equity and then some. When it closed I contacted PHH and was told that I needed to allow 15 days to receive the escrow repayment which passed on June 26th. On the 29th I called and was told "wait a day and call us back for options".

Well today was the 30th and I called back. I was told Pat ** is her of so every positive pitched voice, "Well it was cut and put in the mail. You'll just have to wait!" I asked for a supervisor and spoke with Nakisha ** who was no help as well, but her advice was "well it takes time for it to get into the mail system, you have to wait for another 7 to 10 business days..." So here's a mortgage company who doesn't make their payments in a reasonable amount of time and their excuse is "Check's in the mail!" I cannot tell you how important it is that if your loan originator syndicates your mortgage to PHH you need to refinance and move it to another group. We have had ZERO problems and wonderful customer service with our other mortgage at Wells Fargo.

My home flooded in August of 2016. It is now June 2017 and I am still having to dance through hoops to get my funds to repair my home from the insurance money. I sent them everything they asked for multiple times. Adjuster worksheet, signed contract with contractor, copy of contractors license and insurance and a signed Wavier of Lien Affidavit. They have given me $60,000.00 of my $185,000.00. I called for my 50% inspection on the 19th and was told that someone would call me to schedule.

On the 23rd I called back because no one ever called, I was told that the request was cancelled. I asked why and was told they needed an "updated" adjuster worksheet! I told them there is none, they then said that they had contacted my insurance company and needed a worksheet from them because the original was from a 3rd party company (Colonial Claims and I have Wright Flood insurance). I told them that they don't keep flood adjusters on staff and they told me that they would wait until they get the required documentation from my insurance company... that will never happen and I sent all this in back in November and they gave me first draw and now they "rejecting" my paperwork! I have signed a contract that they required and I'm obligated to pay, but they want something that is impossible to give them and won't give me any more of the money to pay the contractor?! This is why people walk away from their homes!

I'm going to start with the letter l received today June 17th. "Temporary Repayment Agreement" that states June 19th I have to pay them the downpayment of $3000.00 and then on Aug 1st l will start the additional repayment installments for the next 4 months. It also states how they want monies. I'm told by Ocwen I'm 4 payments behind by one phone conversation, on June 8th, that is this guy.

Call before him on May 31st. Said no to a agreement because I was 120 days late. I told him I was holding in the papers in my hand and he said, "Oh no those are old" but they were dated May 23rd and he says I need to come up with the whole amount by June 25th. He stated I was three payments behind and the dates were completely different from the guy before so this guy proceeds to tell me, "Here's my number and pay it to me and only me. Let me know that you're doing this." But no papers of any sort to say we made this agreement or what it was for and I asked him did he see on this so-called file of mine property tax papers that if I don't pay it in 30 days they will pay the taxes. He told me he didn't see that anywhere as I was holding the papers in my hand. He assured me we would deal with that after this was paid.

I said I want to make sure my house won't go into foreclosure. "Don't worry please miss, the county can't do anything without going through Ocwen first." Wanna bet, certified letter from county next day! I wasn't waiting. I would have called the county after the call to Ocwen but 2 different people that day telling me different things and many times I was put on hold, the call took about a hour longer than expected. These guys said I couldn't make my June payment so as we all know there's a late fee that I would be charged. I asked them both of them, "Can I give you $2,500 right now to start this" and they said no. So between first guy and 2nd guy according to my calculations are not correct with the money they're asking. $5,000 OVER the payments that I'm so called late with. And my paperwork says nothing about what it's for. There are no dates. There is no telling me why I'm paying all this money.

It's Saturday and they want Monday. By the way I have the dates that they said I didn't paid. I have bank statement. I called again to see if this whole agreement was happening. The lady told me it could take 24 hours because I asked for it to be emailed to me. Then she said 48 hours. Then she said two weeks and then she said 30 days. It's all a little confusing. She also stated different dates of me being delinquent. She did send me my history but I don't know if anybody's ever tried to read that or understand what it means. They don't know in India so they can't help plus they're extremely hard to understand. This has been going on 4 years. I've never had an escrow account but it shows like I did. I don't know what why and I was never told about it.

This all started when Ocwen took over. I'm tired and frustrated angry and I do not understand why this company is still in business. The fate me keeping my home is in the hands of people that lie and have no idea what they're talking about and on top of it, they are in India. Why are people in India dealing with my loan of my home and how come I'm told something different every time I call. So supposedly I'm going to be current with my loan when this agreement is settled, but what about all those other dates that I was given. Did I tell you I have a relationship manager. Never spoke to him. He's always busy. They made an appointment for me to speak with him on June 26. This appointment was made on June 15th so in the meantime I'm being charged fees and they can't call me back for 10 days and why am I paying for registered mail from Ocwen when they lose paperwork that you send them.

I also went ahead and let somebody else take this account and figure it out. Ocwen this is my realtor. He was told somebody would call him in 48 hours. What the hell kind of company is this. This is a matter that needs to be dealt with. When we call we don't want to hear somebody will call back in 48 hours. I want to talk to somebody in the states that knows exactly what's going on with my mortgage. I'm going to end up like all these other people somebody taking pictures of my house and then I'm in foreclosure because of their incompetence, and being allowed to do this to people even when they owe $225 million dollars first service violations. So Monday June 19th and it is June 17th. Right now I need to pay $3,000 and it doesn't tell me why but if I don't pay it what will happen. And by the way I have paid a payments that they said I couldn't so the numbers are off anyway right now even if they were right.

Please I need help. I will not speak with anybody that is calling me from The Loan Servicing Company that is in India. Have you heard their tagline or their mission statement "Helping homeowners is what we do". Wow really. They are lying. Also paperwork says they cannot collect on pre-petition, post-petition or discharge debt if you're in bankruptcy. No action will be taken and willful violation of the automatic stay. I don't know. Ocwen got my loan and things sure changed. If Ocwen was putting my payments in other accounts I should have been notified why this was happening and that it was happening while I was in bankruptcy Chapter 13.

I'm going to ask again why is Ocwen allowed to still be in business. With every complaint I have read, it is the same thing and the ones on here that are good reviews just can't be real!!! I don't know what to do anymore and I know that's what Ocwen is hoping for and then I throw my hands up. I'm not going to go down without a fight and a ledger of what and why I am being charged for things. Funny when was given dates of my delinquent payments, I said, "Here is a confirmation # for one of those. Here it is. I was so happy to clear this 1 up." I asked, "Do you see that it was paid." My excitement went away when I was told that's another department. I can't repeat my response. Thank you for listening to me. HELP PLEASE.

I submitted paperwork to modify my home loan and home equity loan with OCWEN. My original mortgage carrier was GMAC Mortgage, but they sold my mortgage to OCWEN several years ago. OCWEN has horrible customer service and questionable business practices, as evidenced by numerous lawsuits and judgments against them over the years. My loan modification was rejected out of hand. I wanted to reduce my interest on my home loan of 5.75% and on my home equity loan of 10.5%. As a disabled veteran with 24 years of active service, I would have thought I could get somewhat of a break. NO. They told me I could sell my home or go into foreclosure. Thanks for nothing OCWEN. Is there no appeal process through the federal or state government systems?

Ocwen purchased my mortgage from Home Eq. I have a variable interest rate and applied to refinance the loan about 6 weeks ago. My credit is good and I was told that everything was OK. However, the person who was originally helping me resigned after requesting the usual documents (all of which I sent); the next person that was assigned to me did not call me or return my calls so, my application was given to a third person who requested some of the same documents that I'd sent previously. Now she is requesting my wife's email address which I do not know but did provide her work email (she owns her own business). I also provided my wife's phone number.

I have either financed or refinanced nine different properties over the years and this is the most difficult one that I've faced. They even required me to send my divorce papers of 20 years ago although the property was given up back then and was paid off over 10 years ago (also divorce papers clearly stated that my ex was responsible for payment). This should have been a non issue because the property was paid off 10 years ago and is not in my name.

Also, I might add that Ocwen has held the mortgage that I'm trying to refinance for at least 7 years and my account is current and I don't miss payments. It seems as though they are looking for an excuse to deny my application because they first lost my documents, got confused about some old property that I gave away in a divorce and consistently do not return phone calls. Now, the money that I paid to lock in a rate is no good because too much time has passed and I've also paid for an appraisal. If I'd known I'd have this much trouble, I would've never requested a refinance.

I have had quite many mortgages with different companies. This one is the worst. Here is how: They force you to have a escrow account for insurance and tax even if your LTV is below 80% or 70% or even 10%. The escrow account is mandatory for the entire time of loan period. They loan the money to charge you interest plus this fee and that fee. But when you loan them money, the escrow account, you got nothing. You loan to them for free.

One time, I accidentally paid the property tax myself this escrow account just the amount of property tax without returning it to me. It took me more than 3 calls and waited for 3 months to get the extra amount in escrow account returned to me. They use these extra 3-month cash flow to sell the loan to other customers. Once you requested to pay off the loan, they still hold the money in escrow account even after the pay-off date. I am waiting and seeing how long they are going to return it to me this time.

Their online website is horrible: buggy and slow. You can't imagine a finance related website can have so many problems. One time I wanted to change my password. It took me one hour on the phone waiting, transferring to different person, kill my internet browser, reboot my computer. All of all, I could not log in my account anymore. The company's customer service is horrible. The people on the other end of phone are robots, or worse than robots. RUN AWAY FROM PHH MORTGAGE AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

I had a terrible experience in 2016 while asking Ocwen for a loan modification on an investment property I had bought in 2006 at 6.5% interest. (The loan had been sold about five times over the 10 years, the last time to Ocwen around 2002.) I filled out the Ocwen loan modification paperwork, but I misunderstood a couple of statements because the questions kept bouncing back and forth between my primary residence and the investment property, and the application was extremely unclear about what property the questions were referring to.

When Ocwen informed me of my mistakes, I quickly corrected the mistakes and resubmitted the paperwork. Ocwen then openly accused me of lying on the original application, even though I had corrected the mistakes on the subsequent paperwork, and they turned down my application because they said I lied. Over the entire 10+ years I had the loan I had never missed a payment, and I had never been late with a payment.

In fact, I paid between $100 and $500 extra toward principal with nearly every payment I made during those 10+ years. My credit score has been good to excellent all along. After Ocwen denied my application, I refinanced the property through a local bank at around 4%, and the bank has assured me they will never sell the loan to a loan servicing company. I will never do business with Ocwen again.

Mind you, they had already been in possession of the payoff funds for 5 days when I called yet rather than retroactively apply the funds after their self-imposed waiting period they wanted additional while satisfying their random 10-day waiting period. Additionally, the process of trying to get to someone with a functioning brain was extremely painful after being put on hold at least 10 times. This is a nothing more than a blatant scam to squeeze out a few extra bucks from a really good customer being treated poorly as a result of paying our mortgage off early.

I called and the guy on the phone verified that PHH was at fault, but 2 days later I got the up-yours letter from PHH in the mail [we're right you're wrong]. After I documented everything and mailed it off to them [took out a day of my time], they did correct the mistakes, but they never confirmed any of it or even notified me that the mistakes were reversed... I had to look it up on their website.

I paid off the mortgage early this year to close the dysfunctional relationship and the cheap idiots didn't even pay to have my county send me the release of the lien. I had to call the County Assessor to find out what was happening. My only hope is more banks drop these fools so the company collapses. I feel for their employees, but not that much... They said they needed to escrow our account for unpaid taxes, even though I sent them receipts! For two months they ** us around with someone from India who just kept saying, "I understand and I am sorry". They insisted they paid our taxes. I had to call the tax collection agency and was told that OCWEN sent a check for our taxes 3 months after we paid the taxes, and that they sent the checks back to OCWEN! It took 3 months before OCWEN realized they made a mistake and still screwed up our escrow. The best thing we did was refinance with a REAL company. Stay as far away from this company as you can. Like everyone else, I had no choice but to deal with this poor excuse of a company. My first problem was them misappropriating thousands of dollars worth of money that was supposed to have been paid towards my mortgage. I insisted they were missing monies and was told repeatedly that I was wrong. So I sent them the list of all amounts, check numbers, and dates paid. After a FORMAL request for investigation, they corrected it but did not admit fault. Next, we have the time where they didn't pay my homeowner's and windstorm policies on time. My insurance company said my coverage lapsed for a few days, but luckily I didn't need force-placed coverage.

Then, there was the time I fell behind. I lost my job and couldn't make the full payment. So they offered me a modification. I sent in all the paperwork, all while receiving foreclosure threats DAILY. My modification was to be a three month trial, at the end of which would become permanent as long as I made the payments on time. So I made my first payment. Made it early, in fact. Called to make sure it was received. At that time, I was berated by the agent, he repeatedly told me my account was past due, and I owed a few thousand dollars, and they were going to foreclose if it wasn't paid, even though I had just entered into this modification. My relationship manager said everything would be fine.

So I made a second payment. Again, I paid it early. Again, I called and talked to my relationship manager (who I never reached again until later, even after repeated attempts), who proceeded to tell me that yes, my modification was kind of approved, and the payment was received. I still continued to get letters detailing my delinquency and threatening my foreclosure. So, when I got the money together, I paid them all of the arrearage. At that point, I got a phone call saying my modification was denied and that they were retroactivating it, and that I now also owe the difference on top of my regular payment.

So now, I am in the same boat as before. They send me delinquency notices and foreclosure threats because I owe the difference and an extra month's payment in "MISCELLANEOUS FEES." Its no wonder y'all are being sued. Again. And everything you're being sued for, I went through. I can NEVER speak to the same person twice, and I NEVER get the same answer to the same question from 2 different people. Right hand doesn't know what left is doing. Time for a class action suit in Texas, because I KNOW I am not the only one. Otherwise, no cease and desist order would have been filed here.

I am concerned that somehow this company has a four star rating on this site and may mislead many many people about the workings of this organization. The federal government along with 22 states across the country have filed either lawsuits or cease and desist orders for mishandling mortgages. The company can push back all they want but when you have 22 states and the federal government taking action something isn't right. That is just common sense.

Personally after a divorce 9 years ago and because my other half failed to make a payment I was put into default and held literally in loan modification nightmare. Sold my loan 4 times, I was forced to fill out loan modification paperwork a staggering 8 times after being told my paperwork was never received. Even after I would mail, fax and email all the paperwork to ensure receipt. They miscalculated my annual income (I don't know how) and denied me because they had my income at 500.00 (Five hundred dollars) then denied it again stating income at 1200.00 (twelve hundred dollars).

They held me in this game for 5 years now causing the price of my home to double because while you are being reviewed for modification and all the time they never "so called" receive your paperwork and all the time you are 'Denied for income of 500' you are being charged late fees, penalties and interest and they will literally as they did with mine send you back your monthly mortgage payment. My home has now doubled in the amount of the original mortgage, I cannot sell it because they have me in this default status and have made my world a living nightmare.

Finally my fight is not over with this company and my advice to anyone with this company as your lender is to document every single call and save every single email and notice you receive from them as I have and to learn your documents inside and out as I have because they have a history of misrepresentation in the courts. But if you know everything you signed the law will protect you. I am not done with my battle and probably just beginning but I am a consumer totally prepared so please don't be mislead by a higher than acceptable rating on this site and be aware of who you are dealing with.

It increased to $2000 in 2016 and $2400 in April 2017. I applied for a loan modification and was denied. Although I'm still working as a Realtor to supplement my 1500 social security income. I bought the property at 574,000 in 2005, took a 2nd lien for 75,000 to upgrade electrical, Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing, etc which were all 1950 construction. The value of my house at present is approx $580,000 yet I owe over $800,000. I have not been able to make payments for April and May.

Needless to say I will avoid losing my home at any cost and hopefully make up the past due amounts within 2 months. My point is that I did know that after 5 years my rate would increase at 1% per year. But like most of us at that time, we signed up for it under duress. Losing one's home would be the ultimate defeat, embarrassment, financial ruin, and in my current state it is causing me major health issues. Ocwen has been the least considered, approachable, communicative and receptive of many other lenders/servicers. Not only with my personal situation, but I have negotiated in the past for other clients attempting to negotiate a loan modification.

A friend of mine who is employed by Ocwen told me it is like working in a pressure cooker with daily orders by management to bill, bill, and bill. I was making my mortgage payments online and usually on a weekend, and each time got billed another $10.00. Their escrow division is severely overcharging but not paying insurance and taxes on time. Needless to say I'm in a financial predicament one that I hopefully will resolve prior to meeting the foreclosure deadline. But something needs to be done with companies like Ocwen. In addition to the legal powers to be to acknowledge and attend to the severe escalating increases in monthly mortgage payments - such as mine with a 50% increase in less than 14 months.
