    I am a repeat customer. The first time I did a streamline loan a couple years ago with Curtis that was a great experience. This one however was not so great. The loan servicer was nice enough, polite, professional and courteous, but seemed like this was his first time doing a loan. There were items that were not correct on preliminary documents that I was told to just sign, I called out as being wrong, I objected to the practice of signing an incorrect document. Still I was made sign and the issues were never fully corrected even through closing. Math was right but verbiage was wrong.

    I work for the USDA and deal with loans, grants and the same sort of work every single day but on a much larger scale. When it comes to financial documents it is imperative to have things correct. It further makes your clients feel good if the staff is doing everything they can to get it right and if it's not they will make it right. Although I think my loan tech Alex, did try to make me aware of everything in the coming steps, there were a handful of items that did not come up during those conversation. Later I would receive a call or an email with a message for me to call back. When I did there was frequently a comment like "we are almost ready to set up closing except for____" or "the underwriter wants to verify your employment again, yeah even though they did it at the beginning they want it again" or "you have not worked long enough at your current job, so that isn't viable to use, so we need your work number where you used to work."

    I understand about the length of employment deal. It just seemed like they were reactive or reading it as they went rather than knowing their craft. There were a couple of things I had to do myself because they gave me bad information...Culligan water is not a certified lab so they can't test water of E.coli or coliform as they told me and it's not free. Know your craft and what you are talking about...your credibility is at stake when you give your customer bad information!

    It took a little longer than what I was told, and would have been longer if I had not pushed my former HR dept to quickly process my employment verification. It was going to be a -3 week wait for the Air Force to process their request... until I asked about it. Once the AF people talked with me it was expedited and completed in a few hours, and sent directly to your team. I guess all in all I got what I was asking for, albeit not as fast as I was told (almost 3 weeks longer) so I'm not dissatisfied, but I would have liked to work with the "A" team rather than just a team. Would love to hear from the Admiral himself about if this is meeting the expectations he has for his team, but I'm sure he is busy so if he doesn't I won't be offended. Thanks for the opportunity to tell you about my experience. Hopefully next time it will be better.

    Told what I wanted to do, did not listen, just pressed on, was given a APR, then it went up, then because of their slowness it raised again. In the beginning of process calls and e-mails response was quick, when I started questioning rates and terms, it would take days for a response. For the vets? But the max out every fee than can.

    My experience with the staff at NewDay is best described as "unprofessional" and very confusing. As a retired Navy CPO I found the degree of help needed for someone with limited technology knowledge and a lack of understanding the various online forms and other technical issues was very lacking. When I specified that my wife was not to be part of this loan due to her being in a nursing home and can't have any assets, the day of the closing the documents I was asked to sign had my wife's name on several pages. I told Mr. ** that if my wife was on this mortgage and is considered to have any assets the state of TN can put a lien on my house and in the event I predecease her my house will become the property of the state. Yet, your staff insisted that she would not appear on the title and would not be part of the closing.

    Despite being unhappy with this and other issues I had with the long drawn out process that took over three months, I agreed to sign the paperwork and closed this loan. I am very lucky to have an honest neighbor as the checks that I was supposed to receive were sent to my neighbor's house and she brought them to me and was very confused why FedEx would deliver that much money to the wrong address. I was told by Mr. ** and his associate that under Tennessee law even though my wife was in a nursing home and was physically unable to sign the disclosure paperwork, that the loan could not be processed without her signature. I contacted a lawyer in Nashville who said that it was not necessary for my wife to sign this paperwork as long as she was aware of what was being done and could verbally acknowledge the disclosure in front of witnesses. But, Mr. ** insisted that I procure a Power of Attorney so I could sign for my wife.

    With time running out and I already lost the original interest rate due to the length of time it took for this process, I begrudgingly accepted the higher interest rate and accepted the loan. If the individuals I had to deal with at NewDay were. Under my command as a CPO in the Navy and I was writing their evaluation they would probably be looking for a new job. I have a very low tolerance with ignorance, incompetence and insubordination. I will not be recommending NewDay to any of my friends or family.

    The advertisement says ease to refinancing your VA claim. We found that was not the case. The underwriters did not understand military documents such as LES, civil service pay statements, and other required documents for a VA loan. After submission we then had to explain what that meant. There was also a constant request of additional documentation. Original closing date passed and then there was a lack ot communication. This required me to reach out to the lead loan advisor to get action. This was after making several phone calls, emails, and text messages.

    I am thankful I was able to refinance my home, payoff some debt and begin some home improvements. However, I was completely dissatisfied with the process and the time it took to complete it. It took 65 days to close the loan on this refin. It took me 38 days to close when I brought my house. The process took so long, it exceeded the 45 day rate lock. My rate went up higher than when we begin the process. That difference will cost me over $28,000.00 over the life of the loan.

    The original representative I was working with was difficult to reach at times, left me in the dark several times in reference to the status of the loan, kept giving me different dates about closing, ask me to send him documents I had already sent and was uploaded on the portal. I told him I was not happy with the way things were going and I asked to speak with someone that was in charge. No response from anyone. About a week later, I received an email telling me the representative I had be working with all that time was no longer handling my loan. This was extremely frustrating, because I had been calling and emailing him trying to find out the status of the loan. I was told by the representative I was working with that he would work with me until everything was completed, that New Day wouldn't have me working with several different people during the process. Well, I am thankful that part wasn't true.

    I turned in every document ask of me in a timely manner, even when it seemed every time I talked to someone or received an email, I was being asked to provide something else. I did everything I was to suppose to do to facilitate the process of the loan and I feel like I got penalized for someone else's failure. I say this because of what I mentioned earlier. The process took so long, the rate lock lapsed and it will cost me over $28,000.00 over the life of the loan. That's a hard pill to swallow and it just wasn't right for me to have to pay for someone else's failure.

    On the bright side, I truly appreciate Alex ** stepping in to clean up the mess left behind. He told me what else he needed and got me across the finish line when he said he would. There were several other companies and organizations I could have gone with. I watched the commercials of RADM Lynch for a few years now and believed in what he said and what he and New Day stood for. I put my trust in that and feel let down. Not sure if I would recommend New Day to my friends or not. I have mixed feelings about it, although I truly appreciate Alex for what he did.

    Overall I was satisfied in that my loan liaison seemed to keep on top of things. Only two issues. One being that I was instructed by one of the people to contact FHA as there were some issues with the title work. That didn't seem appropriate and when I contacted the FHA I ran into a dead end and was told that's not normal. Eventually it was resolved. Second, the closing costs on the loan were exceptionally high compared to other VA approved lenders. That was VERY disappointing as a Veteran. Unfortunately I didn't catch that staggering amount until the final phases after appraisal and inspections.

    There were times when we were frustrated with the proceedings with our loan application. This had to do with the request for the “ insurance binder” on our townhouse. We provided the insurance information and your loan people still required a “insurance binder “. We never had to provide this with any other mortgage company and no one asked for any such paperwork. This caused a one month delay in the closing for our loan.

    Overall experience was okay. Problem was with department handling the cash portion of my cash-refi. The week after my closing they kept requesting checking account routing and account number because the account number was inputted with one digit off. The agent handling my cash-refi wasn’t allowed to provide the correct account number. Then they wanted a voided check. I explained I didn’t have any as I don’t write checks. Then they wanted my bank’s instructions on how to wire transfer cash to my checking account. All of this could have been avoided if I was asked for all of this information to have been asked for at the beginning of the process instead of waiting until the end and stressing me out. Also they shouldn’t piecemeal requests for information.

    I am a retired USAF officer and have been a Realtor for 8 years. I am extremely familiar with the lending process as I have used dozens of lenders to help at least 100 clients with loans. Let me begin by saying NewDay was very friendly. Every time I talked with my loan officer or a supervisor, I was treated kindly and with respect. My initial call to NewDay was good and we started off on the correct track. The appraisal was ordered in a timely manner and I thought all was well. The appraisal took a month to get back to NewDay and while this is slightly long, appraisals are often out of the lenders control so no ding on NewDay. My dissatisfaction was due to a few issues.

    First, my loan officer seemed very inexperienced and made a few mistakes. Underwriting seemed either very inexperienced as well or overwhelmed. The time delays in dealing with NewDay were unacceptable. They were constantly asking for more paperwork which I provided within 24 hours, usually same day. I finally got senior management involved and the process picked up. To their credit, I had a few issues with my situation and we finally were able to make the refinance happen. My overall thoughts are 1) they are friendly and nice and do want to help, 2) they are growing so fast and have inexperienced people, 3) if you want a refinance or loan done fairly quickly then they are not for you. They did get the refi done so kudos to them but unless you have a "vanilla" situation and can wait at least 60 days, they might not be the best lender choice for you.

    Kirk ** was an overall great loan officer to work with. He was patient and helpful and we even ended up with a better rate in the end than what we thought we thought we were going to get and they did us beyond right on the loan fees. The glitch came when we wanted to use a local title company and a mobile notary/signing agent that we had used on another loan. On the day of closing, the signing agent said the title company had told her that we were going to be responsible for her fee. We reached out to Kirk because this didn’t seem right to us and prior to her coming, no one had disclosed this to us. Kirk told me, “No it should not be the case. She should be paid by [the] title [company] directly. I’ll try to make sure it gets taken care of. Either way we will work it out.”

    Silly us, we thought that meant New Day USA would pay her fee if the title company did not and now everyone is saying we have to pay it out of our own pocket. Trying to help out a business associate is now going to cost us $150 that no one told us were going to have to pay. We couldn’t push the closing off because we were going out of town for two-weeks the next day and based on what we were told, we believed that either New Day USA or the title company would pay the fee. Lesson learned. No good deed goes unpunished.

    Only just had my mortgage loan transferred to them in December 2021, so I just got my first statement from them for my next payment which they increased by almost $50.00. This was explained to me by their customer service as the result of an escrow review by them that showed my escrow needed an adjustment based on a what? I have no idea since my insurance does not renew till March. I asked for a copy of their review and was told that would not be available for another 30 days. Really change first review later? I can tell now I'm not in good hands. This is not how a mortgage loan is supposed to be serviced.

We waited for new information to mail our next payment in. A debt collector called and said we were late with payments because they had not received our first payment.     It seemed at times my loan agent didn’t know what was going on. One minute I am supposed to pay off my solar lease and the next no. I paid a $350 fee in the process before I learned I didn’t have to buy out my lease. Another issue was supposedly water damage that wasn’t. That wasn’t the adviser’s fault but he made me feel like I was hiding something that I wasn’t. I know a lot of issues were brought on by doing a VA loan which I told myself I would never do again and I did. I should’ve gone with Navy Federal who had my loan. Too late now.

    One more thing, I don’t remember how it came up in the conversation but he seemed surprised that my wife was going to be on the loan when she did fill out all the paperwork.     That was my first question. Do you post the bad reviews also, because I can not you have such high ratings. I thought I found an institution I could trust, because a high ranking military person was a founding member. They did not give me all the facts. I got a flyer from them most everyday. "Get a better interest rate and take out pretty large sum of money to do with it what I wanted to use it for " do updates to my home, go on a vacation, buy a new car, etc...". They did not tell me I had to have every penny I owed to anyone. My loan officer did not let me know this, I thought I was going to get a lower interest rate and get about $40,000 to $45,000 to use it on what I wanted spend it on. My loan officer did not tell me whole story and just omitted what I told him whated. Instead he just consolidated a couple of other loans. My loan was only for $190,000 and my house appraised at $245.000.

    I definitely think he should have told me what he was going to do with my money. They were a small personal loan and a USAA credit card that goes up and down like a yo-yo, but I use it for everything and then I pay it off. I get points that I can use it buy gift cards for what I want. Restaurants, Lowes a lot of Lowes!!! This is not an insult, just the horrible experience I had and I will never use this company again.

    To start, we are a repeat customer of NewDay USA. This is the second loan we have had with you. First PHH cancelled our flood insurance without our permission. Now the premium went up $200 to reinstate it. Second, Kevin ** is our representative and he has done a good job. But he told us repeatedly that you would do a wire transfer for the cash out. At the closing we gave the notary a voided check for the account to transfer the funds to. The loan was supposed to fund last Thursday. Thursday evening I checked, no funds. I called and was told that Kevin was out for the week. Also was told that no one else could help me.

    Called back and got a woman and she checked and told me that the funds had been wired. But that our bank wouldn’t show them until Friday. Friday morning FedEx arrived with a check for the funds. We bank at BofA. The closest branch is in metro Detroit, a 2.5 hour drive each way. So we had to deposit the check at our credit union. They put a 10 business day hold on the funds. So we can’t access the funds for almost 2 weeks. Then we have to pay for a wire transfer to get the funds to BofA where we need them. AND where you were supposed to transfer them to in the beginning!!! This is really poor service. How can I recommend New Day positively when you can’t get a wire transfer correctly? To say nothing about you canceling my flood insurance without my permission. I can recommend ND but certainly not in a good way. What are you going to do about this?

    On 09/29/21 we received a DENIAL Letter from said company. I called said company on 10/01/21. Spoke to Kevin to ask, "How can your company deny a potential client/customer when WE were DENYING your company in not go forward as we were going with someone else?" I have all the emails to prove our decision back from 09/10/21 that we were NOT GOING FORWARD with New Day. Over many decades together (my Veteran Husband & I) we have given well over $70,000 to the Veterans each & every time we have remortgaged or bought a new home. Always a VA loan since 1983 (when we purchased our first home).

    NEW DAY Agent: JULIAN ALEKSANDAR ** became annoyed when I sent him our letter/email on 09/10/21 ~ he called. Left me a voicemail stating "he didn't think what this new company (Cardinal Financial) was doing (rate wise) was LEGAL"! Not a good look making slanderous accusations like that on another competitor!     This was my second refinance with Newday. As before, the process was fairly smooth and painless. As we all know, there is always room for improvement. The only "issue" I feel could have gone better would be for a bit more frequent communication from the loan officers throughout the process. Both times I have refinanced through Newday, there were confusing times when we would get close to the closing portion. Loan officers would say several times they had everything, and yet time after time, they would call back asking for further information saying it was the "writers" requesting additional paperwork or documents or what not.

    This last time, that happened to me at least 3-4 times. It is frustrating being told that everything needed is in, just to be told several times, "Uhh sorry, we need more." All the while, our closing date kept being pushed back. I don't know exactly what or where the break down in the communication is, but definitely needs improvements. Due to that happening, I was forced to pay additional money after the check I received for a vehicle I was paying off. The reason was because the day Newday received the Pay off quote was only good for 10 days from the finance company. By the time I received the check it had increased as it was past the 10 days. All because my closing date was pushed back 1 week.

    It all started out well enough...the process was easy! We were told that we were approved...got the appraisal done...the termite inspection done...just about to close the deal and Simon my agent called me a few days later and told us that we were now denied! They left us with the appraisal cost and the termite inspection cost and refused to pay either one! My advice to you is to use someone else!     I had very high expectations about New Day, based on commercials, and the fact that an Admiral from the US Navy was head of the Corporation, as I am retired from the US Navy. We will reserve some of our comments about the refinance of our loan, as we know that a lot goes into the process. We would suggest that the training of the people assigned to a customer be analyzed. The associate should know to whom they are speaking before sharing information about someone else. They should be expected to keep the customer informed about where the process is at, not just leave them wondering. The customer should not have to seek out processes, or contact business references.

    For those reasons and others, we are not completely satisfied, We now have to wait for all of the creditors to refund overpayments, that an up to date credit check would have alleviated. In this day and age, direct deposit of additional cash to the customer would help, instead of sending them a check, and a hold is put on by the bank.
