    We've been using Mr. Cooper for some time, and everything was fine. The loan process took a month. It was off and on because at the time, we were in the hospital with my daughter. So, we were not responding right away on all of the, "You have to sign this. You have to write this." It was taking time for us to prepare everything.     Mortgage originator Alexandra ** could not answer my questions from the beginning. Had to talk to her manager to get correct answers. Richelle ** - loan processor was friendly but also unable to answer all questions I had in a timely manner. Once the loan closed I've received 4-5 emails from Mr. Cooper saying my closing documents had changed. But no detail on WHAT has changed. HOW DO YOU CHANGE CLOSING DOCUMENTS AFTER CLOSING WITHOUT DETAILING THE UPDATES TO THE BORROWER???

    Have been trying to get answers to WHAT has changed for almost 2 weeks now and canNOT get an answer, callbacks, etc. That's completely unacceptable to change things AFTER closing without detailing the changes? PLUS - I received 2 separate checks totaling OVER $500. When I put calls in to Paul ** and Richelle ** I got a voicemail AND an email saying "this might be or it's probably" this or that. Is that an acceptable answer for anyone? Luckily I have mortgage experience and was able to keep up with everything on my own or else there could have been bigger issues. Overall I cannot say I'm happy with my experience. I am happy with the rate and closing costs which was my primary concern. But with Mr. Cooper - a company who seems to tout customer service satisfaction at every turn I was not terribly impressed.

    Mr. Cooper's organization helped me and my hubby refinance our home. Everyone that we dealt with was professional, except one person who tried to steal the closing process and ultimately commission from Jason who was helping us all along...it was terrible having to experience this. We stood up for Jason to ensure that our case was directed to him so that he would get the commission that he worked for. Again although the process ended the way we had expected it to, it would've been nice to know how many "hands" or people would be involved. We heard from like 4 different people, representative of each step in the process. It would've been nice to know what was coming next each time.

    Mr. Cooper bought our old loan a couple years ago. One time we got a paper in the mail about our taxes. It always comes out in the escrow. I called Mr. Cooper and Daniel answered the phone and he checked on it and told me to disregard it. They pay that and it comes out the 1st of November. I started to hang up and he said to wait a minute as I qualify for refinancing and that they've been sending me things in the mail about it. I told him that we don't want to refinance. Then he said, "How would you like to get rid of your old loan and pay off a couple of your other bills?" And I thought, "Yeah, right." He kept talking and talking and the next thing we knew, we were refinancing. He got me in touch with a mortgage professional and that was just within the week.

    The mortgage professional called me on the phone. He was very polite and he was excited about being able to help us and mostly how to get rid of my two charge cards. I was panicking, I hate bills and our other refinance that we had with United Community Bank. We got rid of that and we got rid of the two charge cards, so that's three payments that I don't have to pay. Our new house payment went up from 610 to 754 'cause we have been very blessed. I was already paying that plus the refinance fee. Now it's added on my house payment. It's not just going to interest, it's going to principal, so I've been so excited. I love all three people that we had contact with. I'm telling people about Mr. Cooper.

    Refinance was dissatisfying as we were told that we were getting a certain amount of cashback and it was $4000 less than what we were told. When I addressed it I was ignored.     Their website does not work correctly when you try to do principal only payments, or when you edit your auto payment. That would not be too much of a problem if they were able to fix their issues over the phone. In fact they do, but they charge you a fee for making the payment over the phone, even if you tell them that the reason you are doing that is because the website did not process your settings correctly. Even more, the representative will try to convince you there is nothing wrong in the website. A shame.

    The first time I tried to refinance, it was very poor. I would have seen that to be different because at that time, the interest rates were much lower. When I called Mr. Cooper to get my information on refinancing, they put me with a guy in Dallas and he sounded like he had just returned from a late night at the bar and he was waking up from a drunk sleep. I quit the process because of the way the guy sounded. I tried to call him back with more information that he was needing for my husband. But he never called me back.

    I counted that as a blessing because I wasn't even sure that I was giving my information to a reliable employee. But then, this last time I've called back to refinance, it was perfect. It went smoothly. They were very informative. The very first person that I talked to was very knowledgeable and he was not pushy. He was very factual and informative and I appreciated that. After I found out my current interest rate and what I've applied for this time, I thought, "If I could have gotten this done months ago, when I initially tried to, then it would have been much better."

    I was wondering about some of the different programs, and I wanted to get it from Mr. Cooper themselves. I called them. The guy said they're doing this fast track refinance thing. He said, "It'll lower your payment a couple $100." He was great. I was a little leery at first of the hidden costs and I had a lot of questions. He walked me through all of it. So, I was really comfortable of what I was doing. The refinance did drop my payment down a quarter of a point. As long as the program is still in effect, they told me, "Wait six months and start the whole process all over." I'll make another $25,000 off the end of the mortgage and drop me down in complete half point end of the year.

    The process with Mr. Cooper took a little while to begin and they had me turned down with the first time through. Then, a different person called me and they got it through. It would have been easier if they told me what I needed to begin with instead of coming up with something else at the end. They didn’t know what my total situation was and they didn't ask either. I gave them the information that they asked for and then, they needed a little bit more after they got it. So, they didn't have quite enough information, to begin with. I had to go down to either UPS or the fax store down there three different times to fax stuff to them. But I didn’t have any problems with Mr. Cooper and everything went through fine.

    I had a mortgage with Bank of America, before Mr Cooper acquired the loan somehow. During the Pandemic I took the option offered of a Forbearance Period with Mr. Cooper. Nine (9) days prior to the end of the approved Forbearance Period, I discovered a lock box had been drilled into my home with a view to preventing my access. I requested it be removed and my home repaired - but they continue to refuse to do that. At the end of the Forbearance Period, I provided instructions to continue with the loan repayments. These requests have been ignored. I've since been reading a lot in relation to the way Mr Cooper operates to feel the need to warn others.

    I've had four other houses in my life and home loans. So, I was a little apprehensive because I didn't want to go through refinancing again because it’s such a pain. But after I called and spoke with the loan representative, they have a way of activating a loan site and it tells you what paperwork they need. So, you don't even have to contact them. I wanted the mortgage to go through obviously, so twice a day, I checked on the website to see what paperwork they needed and it was so easy and nice. I was very impressed at how well the explanations were and how much the reps helped me through it and made it painless considering I'm borrowing as much money as I did.

    The application and underwriting process was done over the phone. We had to sign some stuff and then at closing, we had to sign. But underwriting was great and everybody from the very beginning was very helpful and professional. The reason I refinanced was because we wanted to remodel our downstairs bathroom so I'm starting that project and because of that, I'll probably be able to rent out the lower part of our house possibly. But even if I don't, that bottom bathroom needed updating and the refinancing made it so easy to do.

For twice this year, they missed two Escrow disbursements. The emails sent to the company got no responses. Phone calls have been put on waiting forever. The issues have not be resolved.

    There have been many frustrations along the way with my newly transferred and with my now updated mortgage but the people I talked to (Max and Justin, in particular) were very patient and helpful! Initially, there was a mistake in the transfer of my mortgage from another company to Nationstar (who bought them out) sending me messages that this house was not insured. After contacting my insurance agent, I thought it was all settled but then I had to pay it again... and then it was refunded when it was discovered that it had already been paid by the previous mortgage company.

    I've been with Mr. Cooper these years and everything had been great. They had low rates and I asked to see if I was qualified for a refinance. I wanted to clear up some debt so I could have one deal. I started with Chris then I was juggled around. The ball was dropped once I left the Chris who started the loan and I was turned over to some person named Alicia who was the loan officer. She just kept on pushing me around and out the door and back telling me to give her this and that. I told her she had everything she needed and it was still taking all that time.

    On the whole, it was just an awful process and this one became a mess. In the process of getting refinanced, I was digging a hole for myself. I never went over 30 days in refinancing. This one with Mr. Cooper took four months to get refinanced and nobody could tell me why until the last day. My August payment was due and I called. The lady on the phone asked me if I wanted to pay that day. I said, "No. I want to know where and what is going on that I started a refinance four months ago, and I still haven't gotten refinanced." The lady got me to the right place. They got me back to Chris and he had to do all the work all over again. I was told some paperwork was missing, but I told them that I got a confirmation for every piece of paper I faxed. When I asked what really happened that it was taking so long, I was told that things just got in different hands so it's been a lot.

    With the refinance done, a benefit is not having the other two big bills that I was paying. It saved me about $500 a month out-of-pocket money. I had been very satisfied with Mr. Cooper up until doing this refinance. When you get started in a refinance, see if you're going to be working with just one or two particular people throughout, not four or five different people then swung around. In my case, about every three weeks I would call and they put me with this person and that person. The very last person that I worked with was awesome and she got the job done. Even though she was working from home and her baby was playing, that was not even a problem.

    I had Nationstar when I bought my house 15-plus years ago and they have always been great with me. When Mr. Cooper bought them out or they merged, I just stuck with them.     We did the refinance and it was very easy. The application process was very fluid. The rep was very cordial, polite, and knowledgeable. Once we got going, the process was pretty straightforward and we ended up where we hypothesized with where we wanted to be. So, as far as something that can be daunting and if you don't understand it, it was very, very palatable, and very understandable. The immediate benefit of the refinance is we haven't made our first mortgage payment yet.     We had two people for the mortgage and if we had questions, we sent it through email, and they got back to us. However, I got seven mailings from its insurance group, within three days, all asking me to check into covering for life insurance for the new mortgage I got, and every one of them came from a different office with a different return address. I even got a postcard the day before yesterday asking me to look into it. All of them had different ID numbers on them. I called, following the postcard I got, and the number that I kept putting in would not go through. I finally dug one up on one of the envelopes I got and they said they would call right back. Well, they didn't call, so I just shredded everything that they sent me. It was very confusing. We still haven’t received all the information on our mortgage, other than the fact that we're good, and that our first payment is due in November.

    Also, it's kind of alarming when I suddenly get those. It's almost like, "Is this real?" Especially since the numbers wouldn't let me go through, then the one number that I got through said they'd call right back, and they never did. With everything that’s going on in today's world, there's either a problem or there is a big communication gap between the different offices out of the different parts of the country for Mr. Cooper and they need to get that straightened out because it's disturbing.

    My experience with Mr. Cooper was amazing. Angela, the person that I spoke with, was amazing. Without her, I probably would not have gone through the process. They were able to take it down from a 7.5% interest to 2.5% only because we've got an old farmhouse that we've been remodeling for years and didn't realize we didn't have to have an appraisal because there are certain things that we still want to get done with the house before we have it appraised. She was able to drop our payment by about $450 a month.

    We talked on the phone quite a few times and several emails. She was on top of it. When it came time to closing though, the person that was supposed to close our loan wasn't available. We had somebody else step in. They didn't get the paperwork, so we weren't going to be able to close on time. I reached out to both Angela and to Ashia, who was the second person we were dealing with. And Angela was able to get everything coordinated where we were able to close about an hour and a half later than our scheduled time.

    However, in the beginning, the few items they told me that they needed for us to start the loan, I got to them. But then we got into a glitch with my insurance company. Mr. Cooper contacted them four times and had not gotten a response. All I had to do was call the office and get the insurance paperwork that they needed. So had I known that in the beginning, I could have had it and that could've sped up the process.

    Mr. Cooper bought my old mortgage, and then they called me saying that if I could refinance with them, they could do this interest rate at closing. It sounded good so I agreed. The only thing I was disappointed with was that we picked what I was going to do for the refinance, and the rep said that I won't have to make my mortgage payment that month and that I would just have to bring X amount to closing. That X amount was around $1,000 more than I thought it was going to be and so I was a little bummed about that. But it was not the gal's fault, it was probably whoever underwriting it. Overall, I had a great experience.

    I've had a loan with Mr. Cooper for a lot of years. Then the interest rates were going down. Mr. Cooper didn't go down as low as I thought it would, but that was okay. The first person that I spoke with was very thoughtful, intelligent, and told me everything I wanted to know. However, I had a major problem with the second person that started to take the information. If it wasn't for the first rep, I would have cut the thing off because that second person really frustrated me on a lot of reasons. She should not be doing that type of work, she needed training, and Mr. Cooper did not give her enough and proper training. When I called her, she answered me back. Her voice was fine and she was cooperative. But she didn't know what she was doing and she made me very uncomfortable. I had to go back to the first rep a number of times.

    We had our house financed through Mr. Cooper and the younger gentleman that I contacted in Dallas was good. He responded to my questions and issues that I had. Later on, when we were going to have the person come in and have us sign all the papers, there was a mix-up in that and they had to call someone else to come in. But we survived that too. That was no big deal and Mr. Cooper handled everything the way they could. But I got something in the mail the other day that said that Mr. Cooper sold me out to another finance company and I wonder what’s going on. I just sent my first October payment to them today because they told me to continue paying them until something happened.

    I was shocked because I’ve been with Mr. Cooper since they took over the prior guy who owned the place. We made our payments on time because we got a good credit rating. We went through all the refinancing through them and then, they sold us off. I was blindsided. I had no idea at all because we were dealing with them and we were satisfied, and all of a sudden, they were gone. That was a bad experience.

    Our mortgage was transferred to Mr. Cooper right after a refinance. Our insurance (home and flood) was paid at closing, but our regular renewal date was about 8 weeks after we closed. I didn't want the premiums to get paid again for this year out of our escrow, so I contacted Mr. Cooper as soon as I could. I did everything they told me in terms of getting the documentation they needed to show it had already paid and was verbally assured by someone in the Mr. Cooper insurance department that it would not be double-paid. Both premiums did in fact get paid a second time, leaving my escrow with a negative balance.

    I called to see what Mr. Cooper would do to fix their mistake and the answer was that it was my problem to fix. They "value me very much as a customer" but wouldn't actually do anything to back up that statement. I understand that mistakes happen, but I contacted them on 3 separate occasions to make sure this particular mistake wouldn't happen, and then when the mistake DID happen they showed no interest in fixing it. Look elsewhere for your mortgage needs.

    Mr. Cooper actually reached out to me about refinancing my current mortgage which I still owed 27 years and 7 months on.     Awesome refinance experience from Kara and Benjamin. They made everything smooth and non frustrating. My prior refinance attempt with Teddy ** was absolutely horrifying. It was so bad that I called and told him to terminate my application because I wanted to cry and pull my hair out over the unorganized, frustrating and time consuming process they put me through. I wanted to refinance with another company as a direct result of the unprofessional treatment I received from him and the processor. They were both horrible and I would never recommend Mr Cooper if they were involved.

    They both need to be fired, reprimanded or suspended because they turned a 3-4 week process into a 6-8 week process and I was still under conditional approval. With Benjamin and Kara, I was done in 3 weeks tops and they had all the same documentation when they took the application over. Horrible, horrible, horrible. 6 weeks and nowhere near done the 1st time. 3 weeks and a couple days the 2nd time. Why????

    My refinance experience was fine except that Mr. Cooper reported that I missed my second mortgage's payment while I was in the refi process. In July I had received two calls from Mr. Cooper about my second mortgage payment being due. My loan processor told me not to make my payment, because he had requested and received an extension on my payment due to the refi.

    After the second call, I called customer service because I was concerned that not making my payment could affect my credit. I spoke with someone on the escalation team and explained my concern. I was told that my loan processor would need to send the extension to customer service to make sure my credit wouldn't be affected. My loan processor said he didn't have the ability to do that.

    Less than a month after my refi was completed, I got notified that Mr. Cooper reported my missed payment, which resulted in a 113 point drop in my credit score. I talked with someone at the escalation team who said she would look into the matter and submit the correction request. I am livid that Mr. Cooper did exactly what they said they wouldn't do, after telling me not to make my payment. Although the refi itself went well, the aftermath ruined the experience. I learned that at Mr. Cooper, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, and they really don't have their act together. To treat a long time customer like this is appalling. I will not recommend them and if I ever need another mortgage I would not consider using them.

    While the efforts of the pre and follow on loan processing team were exceptional the loan payout process was less than a great experience. Loan funded by the 27th of August. The title company, Vylla, sent a FEDEX package that was dropped on my door step, not sure how long it sat there, with checks for the companies listed for pay off. This was not what was discussed during the loan processing and due to online payment programs it delayed mailing pay offs out by at least four days. With the delays on postal times, three remain unpaid and checks seem to be in limbo. Electronic payments would have been beneficial and direct with no possibility of delays. I see this as a failure since it cost me several dollars in late fees.

    Parts of the process with Mr. Cooper were a little bit confusing, and parts of it were fine. When this all started, we kind of had a little bit of switching of people. There were some confusing communications back and forth, which made it a little difficult. But once we got all the confusion out of the paperwork, everything went very quickly and well. The people that took care of it and brought the papers here were fine. But I would have preferred five or six pages as opposed to 50 or 60. I would have also liked a little better rate but the terms seem to be fine from what I could gather reading through the mortgage agreement.

    Refinancing with Mr. Cooper was a very easy process. Everybody communicated quickly and well. We were always able to reach somebody when we had questions. The timeframe of everything as far as the amount of time that it took to get the appraisers and then the loan numbers and then defunded for the loan was all very reasonable and happened very quickly.

    Both the lady who walked us through up until we submitted the application and the one we talked to after that were easy to get in touch with. The first lady we talked to was very helpful with her guidance about the amount we could take out and the other loans we had that were at higher interest rates. In general, we got good customer service. Since refinancing, I have reduced some other payments that were of higher interest that I was paying a larger note on. We've also reduced some financial costs going into our home. I've recommended Mr. Cooper to somebody else who's looking to refinance.

    There were a lot of blaming games with Mr. Cooper where stuff was changed in the refinancing and they did not tell us about it. The excuse was, "We sent you a letter." But if we were calling and trying to find out what was going on, it would have been best for them to tell us word of mouth that, "This is changing. You can do this,” and what's going on and what we're gonna do next. They couldn't just go ahead and do something and not say to us. Instead of saying, "We sent paperwork for you," just call us, let us know what's going on now.

    I was also the one that was doing the paperwork, signing them and reading everything. The officer as well told my husband totally different things. They were not clear enough and they didn't go over stuff with us. If you're trying to reach out, you're not getting them. The only reason why I even got the one that was taking care of the mortgage the last time was because I told the guy that answered the phone, "This is a big company. If he can’t come to the phone, put someone else on the phone 'cause we're gonna have a problem with that. Don't tell me he's busy right now or he has a lot of people. We have been calling for a while and you never returned our call.”
