We received a phone call about a no fee refinance. It made it possible for us to turn our 30 year into a 15 year. Also they sent information on how to accelerate our equity. We will now be able to have our house paid off in as little as 11 years. Peace of mind. Very happy.

I have a mortgage with Nationstar and received a letter from them about refinancing my mortgage. It was a straightforward deal with them. The process was pretty smooth. Everyone was very cooperative and gave me updates regularly. There was minimal documentation because they had all the information available with them and the loan officer was great. I've cut down my terms from 30 to 15 years and the rate is good. However, they can improve upon the customer service at times when someone calls.

I used to have the mortgage with Bank of America and the loans were transferred to Nationstar. I Inquired if I could get a better loan in terms of the interest to lower my interest and monthly payment. I had a good experience with the mortgage professionals. My mortgage came down a little bit in terms of the interest and the monthly payment. I was able to refund twice with them and both of them were very professional, and both were without any issues during the refinancing process. Nationstar has been very professional. They made the process for us very easy - without any hassles. And whenever I have any questions, they answered them very courteously and professionally. They were also very knowledgeable.

Our mortgage was sold to Nationstar a few months ago. We have never had issues with our previous mortgage. Never ever 30 days late... in 12 years. Now we get two different balances due depending on what we are looking at threatening letters, and growing balances in spite of payments being made. Our interest rate is incorrect and we cannot get a phone call back from them at all. Literally between me and my husband we have left probably 15 messages and 3 emails. Still there's no response. Very disgusted!!!

I’ve had nothing but problems with Nationstar right from the very beginning when they lost the check and then they told me that “well, they probably threw it out because they didn’t know what to do with it.” I’m not very happy with them and all those representatives that you end up talking to need to be trained a whole heck of a lot better than what they are. But I ended up refinancing, thinking that maybe it will be better, but it has not.
Melanie was very nice and gave good guidance when discussing my refinancing options. It’s a lower mortgage but it’s been a pain in the ass because my conveyance was recorded improperly with the wrong initial in the name and it was a big runaround trying to get it fixed. My first fax to Nationstar was on September 30th and they responded by an email in November telling me that they received my fax on November 5th when actually, I made copies of everything, sent a certified mail, tracked it and they received the certified mail on November 3rd. And they still haven’t sent me the re-recorded conveyance. I have not received a paper statement now for two months and I never signed up for email. I would not recommend them at all.

We've had Nationstar as our mortgage carrier for two homes. We just refinanced with them. Prior to that, in the same home, Nationstar was our provider for our mortgage. We have mixed reviews. The first mortgage that we were carrying with Nationstar, suddenly in the middle of it, the escrow account was completely depleted, so that threw us off. We stopped paying insurance and taxes probably for 5 months before we got refinanced. And that really made the refinancing tricky. Then, the refinancing process was excellent, and we’re refinanced now, and I believe that's all solved. Everyone's been very nice but it's been very confusing.

When I refinanced with Nationstar, the guidance they provided when discussing my refinancing options was really good. The very nice lady that came was professional, knowledgeable and got everything taken care of. It dropped it down a little bit but I’m getting automated phone calls from them that tell me that my mortgage is due on the 1st. I just got it in before the 17th, which is the deadline, but they’re always calling, leaving messages, telling me that it’s past due. I don’t like that because I told them before that my check doesn’t come until the second Wednesday of every month. Other than that, it was a nice experience.

My mortgage was ultimately sold like everybody else and Nationstar became my servicer. They were the most streamlined process and the cheapest. The guidance was good. I knew what I needed. I needed a HARP loan. Since then my payments are lower. However, their mortgage and service company is horrible. When you call Nationstar, not the lending department, but the company for payments and those types of things, you'd never get to speak with anybody in the United States, very rarely. It's really unacceptable. But Nationstar meets the purpose I need.

Nationstar mortgage is with the bank that had the house for sale. The value of the property was higher and I wanted to get rid of the PMI on my payment. The bank was great when I first purchased the house. I never had a problem with the bank itself throughout the two years that I had been with the bank. The only reason why I continued the refinancing was because I was in the process of closing but I almost didn't do it because I had to deal with Greenlight Loans.
I don't know how Nationstar's related to this company or bank but I had a horrible process with the refinancing with Greenlight Loans. It was hard to get a hold of them. They never updated me on anything. Any little question that I had, they gave me the runaround. Right before we had to close the refinance, they realized they didn't have the last minute paperwork. I kept calling and asking them, "Are you guys sure that you have everything?" And they kept saying yes and then two days before we had to close everything, they needed me to fax them all this paperwork and get them all this other information. It was very stressful. That was a horrible experience.
If my friend has to go through Greenlight Loans to purchase a house or refinance or do anything, I would not recommend the process at all. I have already tried my best to let them know my situation with Greenlight Loans. Honestly, it was a horrible experience. What made it worse was the fact that I was pregnant at the moment and they just made my whole situation more stressful. That's why I'm very dissatisfied with them. So far, I'm just glad I don't have to deal with them anymore. And I like the fact that I'm able to pay my bill online. It's nice to know that I'm not giving money away with the PMI. I have no problem so far and Everything is working out great.

We currently had a mortgage with Nationstar and then refinanced because we were trying to get some money out for house repairs.. They were very professional. The only thing that we did not like is that it took about 2 months. We weren't able to get a straight answer for those kinds of calls. The guidance they gave was just satisfactory. It could have been a little bit better. However, once the loan went through, it was approved and was really quick. We really did appreciate that part that it was done. So that made up for that time that they took so long. We've been pretty content with them cause we've had them for a little over a year. It's a good company to deal with.

Calling and e-mailing Nationstar has been the worst communication experience in my life. I am convinced that Nationstar is deliberately making communication with them extremely difficult. They seem to hope that their loan customers will give-up trying. Nationstar reminds me of the 1997 movie - The Rainmaker. Nationstar, like the Insurance Co in Rainmaker, go to great ends to avoid helping their customers. The reason is that it saves them money.
I would not recommend Nationstar to my friends or even most of my worst enemies. I would give them - (minus) 5 stars if such a rating was possible.

Upon checking my statement the full amount of the check was not posted. After several attempts to resolve this matter, I was told I needed to send more money. I didn't agree with the explanation I was given (monies were posted incorrectly) but complied with the request. I have been in-touch with several customer service representatives and two supervisors. There still is an outstanding balance showing on my online statement and I still have not received a paid off mortgage letter nor any further communications from the last supervisor I contacted. When a company sends a payoff statement and requests a certain amount of money that should be what the customer needs to settle the account. This issue needs RESOLUTION.

I rarely give bad reviews, but unfortunately I have to this time. Nationstar has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I am a Christian and I am ashamed to say I had to get on my knees and beg for forgiveness after talking to them on the phone. Not only have they stolen money from us, but they have been managing the money in our Escrow account in a fraudulent manner and not paying our taxes and insurance like they are supposed to. The customer service representative I last talked to was so rude and difficult that I lost my temper; which is not often. When I first spoke with her I could tell she had an attitude and asked her to please have patience that I wanted to have a good conversation, but unfortunately she insulted me phrase after phrase and was one of the ugliest people I have encountered. I sure hope that conversation was recorded and her boss reviews it. If you work in customer service you CANNOT and SHOULD NOT act inappropriately. I work with people daily and even on days I would like to forget about manners, I know I can't because it is my job and I choose to walk by Faith and let the light of Christ shine through me.

Refinance - Took a very long time.

Nationstar Mortgage was the holder of our previous loan. They had sent us numerous recommendations that we should take them up on the offer of refinancing. We felt that we had enough equity. And in combination with our financial position and with the threat of the ever-increasing interest rates, we felt that it was the time for us to refinance. I'd say that I enjoyed all or almost all of my interactions with Nathan **, who was the front man, the sales guy. And our loan processing coordinator, the first one, created a complete debacle and it was very unpleasant. And then, they moved us to someone else after she basically screwed up our whole thing and caused a bunch of delays that were totally unnecessary, and the next guy was professional enough and it got done. But I wouldn't recommend refinancing with Nationstar Mortgage. It took a long time and it was very challenging. I don't know if it was just that loan processor didn’t have their stuff together or if its systemic with them, but I wouldn't use them again.

On January 7th I had a discussion with a gentleman regarding our past due payment. He told me I could spread the payment out over months. The amount he said was $24.90 I kept asking if he meant 24 dollars and 90 cents, his response was "yes $24.90." On January 12 $2,490 was taken out of our checking account. This resulted in my husband who was traveling, have to move out of his hotel room because the bank card was declined. I called your company on 1/13 and was told I had to fax a copy of the bank statement and a letter requesting a refund and to call back in 24 hrs to be sure this was received. I called in 24 hrs and was told the document was not uploaded to the system yet. I called again in 30 hrs and told the same thing.
Finally on 1/15 I spoke with a man named Jeffrey who was very compassionate and helpful. He advised me that the best thing to do was not ask for the refund and instead let the money stay so mortgage payment for December was in and the January payment would be less. He was extremely helpful and was the first person who actually helped come to a resolution.
I truly feel the whole issue started because of an English language barrier with the person I first spoke with on January 7th. Also, why would I be told to call back in 24 hrs and then be told I had to wait longer? Why did it take three calls and talking to three different people before someone was able to help me? This entire experience was very concerning to us and caused great anxiety and financial hardship.

Steven and I would like to let you all know how very disappointed we are with Nationstar. Last year we had a very rough year. I called in Dec. and was told to pay up our account, and put in for a modification. Every time we called we never get the same person and every time we call we are told something totally different, even when we call the same day. The day that I called to get the correct amount to pay it current, Steve and I called, every time it was a different amount. Some of the customer service people we talk to are rude and won't give us the time of day. We are paying 12.34 interest, no one should have to pay this, and we can't afford it at all. We put in for a modification, we were approved but the payment never moved or the interest either. How is that modifying? No one can answer that question. I was told when we have normal 40 hour weeks, re-apply.
I explained 3 months out of the year it snows in Maine, which is right now, which you guys DONT take into consideration. I have my brother's 2 kids I am raising - which I guess you'd rather me just let the state take them because they had no one else - plus putting my 2 through college, that's not taken into consideration either. How is a family that is trying to survive in this world, when you don't want to help, but help the ones that don't deserve it, and you probably help them.

I wanted lower rates and a 15-year mortgage instead of 30. I chose Nationstar because it was really easy and convenient since they already had my information. We were with Nationstar before, we refinanced with them. So, it’s really just sort of the same old thing, which is a good thing. Also, their rates were good and when I talked to them, they said the right things. The first guy we talked to was very helpful, understanding of the situation we were in as far as wanting to refinance. He listened to what we had to say as far as what we're looking for and gave good recommendations. I thought he was prompt, courteous, quick to get back with us, and answered our questions. He was very good. On the other hand, the guy who did the closing was good but not quite as good, honestly. When you're in an industry, you tend to have some jargon that you're used to using that I'm not used to. And so, sometimes, he uses those terms, and I couldn't understand what he's talking about and I needed to figure it out. He should have been just a little clearer with that.
It was also clear that they were really trying to get things done quickly, and it felt like he was sort of pushing a little bit instead of just being a little more courteous. Not that he was bad at all. Then again, I was happy with the guidance the first guy gave. He really listened and gave good advice, which is really one of the reasons why I ended up refinancing with Nationstar. I also thought that it was really convenient to be able to find needed documents online. It was pretty cool, really smooth, and quick. So, I liked that. We went to Greenlight. They are part of Nationstar now. We had our mortgage through them and we had a high rate. The initial salesperson was good but it was a little difficult in that we were supposed to get a discount because we've used Nationstar several times. However it took longer before my problem came to underwriting where the Underwriting Department was just beyond ridiculous with what they wanted from us. But that's probably our opinion of what they have to do.
Their guidance was easy and we pay the loan off faster for the same amount of money as basically what we have. I can just say it's the toughest refinancing that we've ever been through and the underwriting scrutiny was unbelievable for people who have extremely high credit and have their original loan through Nationstar. I don't know if that's required by law but it was absolutely ridiculous and I'm a patient person. I actually try to do it earlier and ended up having to back out. I just didn't have time for the scrutiny and I've gotten loans for almost 40 years now with different homes so I can say I really am not happy with the process that we had to go through but I decided to continue and make it happen because there was more to it financially. So at this point I wouldn't recommend them at all just because of how hard the process was. I wouldn't want anybody to go through that.

He lied to me/then all of a sudden he could waive the fee after telling me he could not. The end result, fee was waived and I paid my mortgage. Not too happy with the run around and the changing of my paper statement to only email.

Nationstar bought the mortgage from GNAC then they contacted me a number of times and each time the additional cost to plow back into the mortgage was just so much money, I just was on the fence. But the most recent time, I had the least amount of cost added back the equity base or reduction, the erosion of the equity base. So I went ahead. I also reduced the term, brought it down to 10 years. We talked about what the cost would be to me and the process that we'd go through, so I'd made sense of it. Everything was handled on a phone call or email for when they got to the point of needing information. I think it was adequate.

Nearly 3 weeks later, we were back on track with the refi. Some of the documents they required were ridiculous. Such as, and ENTIRE divorce agreement from 10 years ago. And I was a current customer! My experience with Nationstar has been inadequate to poor due to customer service more than anything else. First person that contacted us, Mike, set an unrealistic expectation for the timeframe in which the loan was to be processed. I was asked multiple times to submit the same documents over and over. Six weeks into the process, when I questioned him on what they told me was gonna be thirty days or less, I got a very condescending, very bad attitude, very confrontational - so much so that when I called his manager and told him that I would no longer speak to that gentleman and I would deal with the manager only. The manager did his job - got everything done - so all praise to the manager, but by then the relationship had been destroyed.

My wife did most of the process and I think she had a good experience. They seem to keep in contact with her and kept her in the loop on what was going on, so the communication was great. The discussion of refinancing options was also great.
For the longest time, nobody could do anything with us because we paid our bills on time and we didn't qualify for any of the government help, so once we qualified for something, they were very helpful in explaining our options and took care of it. The guidance I received was good but the only thing that I did not like was I was promised a certain interest rate and didn't receive it. Also, I was told that the loan was going to be free but I still ended up having to pay. I was still happy at the end because the rate was still not bad, but I had to pay for the loan. So all in all, I was a little bit upset but because of their professionalism and the way they handled it, I'm still really happy with them right now. So I waited until it seemed like it was a better deal for me than what I heard previously. What we went for is a shorter period of time and a little bit lower payments. But it will be worth it to get to tell our story! It's ironic that this email came today, because we just returned from closing on the sale of our house which was mortgaged by Nationstar.
Having to deal with Nationstar has been a Nightmare! In short they have refused repeated requests to change our payment due date and they have lost payments made online. Both of these have caused outrageous late fees and bad marks on our credit. Most of all they have been absolutely impossible to deal with regarding these issues. Even this week, when we are within 48 hrs of closing on the sale of this home, Nationstar refused to give the Title Company the payoff amount due to "security" concerns, even though they were given a signed release, commonly used the real estate industry, that was sent to them weeks ago. It was only after we logged into the online system and "cleared" it did they release the payoff amount to us! The Title company got the required info hours before the closing time! I want to highlight that they are not communicating with their clients like me. Not only do they not answer my questions, but they do not answer at all. Well, they responded, but it took more than eight weeks to do so and my questions were never really answered. Some action has been done, meaning, some transfer of money happened, and not to fight about it, but there shouldn't be a lot of problems like simple things such as answering clients timely. As for my refinancing options, it took a lot of time for them to establish what I need. We finally did but it took too long. They were able to lower my payments but only by a very little amount, i.e., $100. That's nothing. It was a very bad experience for me. I think it's very unfair, that when a family hits a financial crisis in their life, where they have to declare bankruptcy, that they should be treated like they are a second class customer. You place them in a special category of customer, change or take away ways in which we can pay payments, charge extra fees if we pay over the phone. I don't know what your problem is but you really should take a new look at your policies and bring them up to the 21st century. You have my account and I have no control of that, but I can tell you that if I was able to I would transfer somewhere else in the blink of an eye. If you would have bothered to investigate, you would have found that since purchasing this property we have never missed a monthly payment, and for the last 5 years we have never missed a bankruptcy payment either.

Since May 2014, Nationstar has been sending back my checks uncashed. The amount I am remitting is the dollar amount stipulated in the Note, which is the same Note I made in 2001 and which has never been changed. Although I pay my own taxes, Nationstar continues to send duplicate payments and then gets refunds (see refund check and letter from the Town from the October School Taxes/image attached).
However - and this is the problem - they are ADDING these refunds to what they claim I owe!!! This amounts to asking me to pay my taxes twice. Since I refuse to send Nationstar these funds, they consider my loan in default - although it is not. They also have tried to get me to short sell - Why? I don't want to sell nor do I need to. Or they want me to modify. Again, why would I bother? I have ample and regular income, I am not 'under water,' my mortgage is lower than the value of my property, so the situation doesn't qualify for modification. Nationstar isn't a corporation; it's a runaway freight train. Someone needs to stop it in its tracks!

I changed the monthly automatic withdrawal for my mortgage payments twice, but did not know that each time I did that that Nationstar would submit that to my bank and as a result my bank charged me $30 for this. There was no notice or warning on the part of Nationstar that this would happen. I called and tried to explain my mistake and the rep refused to listen to me and was combative and argumentative with me. I had a terrible experience in this matter and felt that I was due an apology letter that I could submit to my bank to be recompensated for that amount taken out of my checking account. I had no idea that this would happen because this was my very first time I have done this. Nationstar was uncooperative and rude.

When I explained the problem to the people there, they agreed that my payment was put into the wrong account and that they had it corrected. I called Nationstar to check on payments and they say I'm past due and this won't look good on my credit rating. The people were pleasant and I have no complaint there. I would like to have my account corrected, so that I know where I stand. Thank you.

There's a couple of things I got to say about doing refi with Nationstar: they didn't tell me that right now you could get new loans and you could get your PMI, insurance and all, if you refinance, which Nationstar didn't tell me that. I'm not sure if it's a new rule now, but it just came to my knowledge and I think I should have got a little lower percentage. When you refinance, usually you get a month free, and I think that's the cost to get them up. So I know I could have probably done better. On the plus side they did what they said they were doing: I did get a reduction in my mortgage though I don't think it turned out as good for me as it should have.

We really appreciate you sharing your experience regarding the refinance process. If there's anything we can do to improve the refinance process, we'd be glad to hear about it via private reply. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

My experience with Nationstar have been mostly negative. Nationstar took over 2 mortgages from BOA. I've already gone rid of 1 mortgage from Nationstar and plan on moving the next this year. Yesterday I had to call to have you move funds from the principal to escrow shortage which is where it should have been applied. You did this last year too. I sent a principal reduction payment and you applied it to the monthly payments. I never had problems with BOA and the mortgages with you it has been horrible and you only acquired them about 2 years ago. I will make a change this year. Sorry I would not recommend Nationstar to anyone. I was going to write ** the CEO but this review will suffice.

How would any borrower rate a Mortgage company that refuses to send transaction history, statements or provide online access. Non existent that’s how. The Supervisors like ** and ** who I have been referred to either do not exist or do not return ANY phone calls. I am completely discouraged by the service I received so far from Nationstar. For almost 1 month I have been trying to resolve a payment allocation issue with multiple NationStar representatives that resulted from NationStar improperly allocating the monthly payments I have been making towards my mortgage - either on time or earlier of the scheduled date.
As of now I believe I spoke with 5-6 individuals, including supervisors, who had promised to resolve the issue, but ultimately failed. To make matters worse, they are so disjoint in the service operations that they can't even identify who was the last representative/ supervisor I spoke with last. I received multiple promises that the issue will be escalated and resolved within 1 - 2 days max, but all such promises have been broken. All I've ever received back is that the representative I last spoke had improperly made their correction request and that this time it will be done properly. This points to complete lack of training and process understanding.

I had a problem with my mortgage payment on 1/5/2015. I called to have Nationstar resubmit the payment on 1/8. I was told that could not be done and I had to make the payment over the phone then, on the 8th. I did so and the payment was made.
On 1/12, another surprise payment was deducted from my checking account, unscheduled and despite what I was told on the 8th. The gentleman on the phone took a copy of my bank records, and a UPS transaction was set up, I'm assuming to send me a check. But I have not gotten a refund yet and my bank account is still overdrawn.
There is no excuse for this, I was assured that no other payment would be taken from my account, the Nationstar representative who I spoke to on 1/8 out and out lied to me. There is no reason in the world why Nationstar could not have just redeposited the payment back into my account as soon as they got documentation of their serious and inexcusable error.
I am still waiting and I have several automatic payments coming. Nationstar has not resolved their mistake after three days and I will tell everyone I know to totally avoid this incompetent lying company.
