My husband liked everything about Nationstar Mortgage and was shocked that it was for real. They did it faster than we thought we would go through. He’s done it before, and it didn’t pan out but this firm didn’t do that. He was thrilled about it and made this year good. Its better rates lowered our rent a little bit and it was a lot to me. He would definitely recommend it, and so would I.

Nationstar was my mortgage company and I decided to refinance with them since it seemed to offer a seamless transition. I personally wanted do it because the interest rates were better than when I initially bought my home. They did a fantastic job, I was able to get lower rates indeed. I didn't have any issues with them. Everybody I worked with was very knowledgeable and they were very helpful. They were all very good and everything went as planned.

We’re glad to hear the refinance process was a positive experience! Thanks for your feedback. -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

I was happy with the overall experience but had problems with the fact that the previous loan escrow balance was used to pay a portion of the loan fees. I was not told this would happen. Also, we had to refinance because our mortgage payment was increased by over $160 per month and the only explanation I could infer was Nationstar failed to pay the PMI and was trying to catch up. This was not fair and was not our mistake but forced us to refinance our loan.

Although we received a significant number of refinance offers from various companies, the offer to refinance with Nationstar mortgage and being able to use the same lender was a very rewarding experience. The entire transaction was seamless and the majority of the prep work was done remotely, via email and phone conversations. An assigned notary public came to the residence, on time and with proper credentials and identification, and the entire execution process was at our convenience and took less than 1 hour of our time. For homeowners looking for an easy and convenient way to execute a refinance on their existing mortgage, I highly recommend the team at Nationstar mortgage.

My mortgage was sold to this company about a year and a half ago and it has been the worst experience. I can not say a single good thing about them. They will raise my monthly payments but not send me any notice or statement and then charge me late fees because I didn't pay the increased rate that I didn't know about. When I have called to discuss this issue there were no apologies, they never offered to take the fees off, nothing. I wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy.

We were already NationStar customers when we decided to refinance our mortgage last year. The agents at NationStar were wonderful in answering all of our questions and making the refinance process as smooth as possible. We were able to get a little extra for a much needed vacation and to pay off some higher interest credit cards. Since refinancing we have been able to put more money into our retirement accounts and have extra funds for those unexpected things that always come up.

Having had my mortgage overseen by three different mortgage programs including BofA, I have had excellent results with Nationstar. I mortgaged the house to cover several credit cards my wife maxed under early stage dementia, seeking lower interest. Then the first mortgage holder was able to lower interest from 9% down to 6+%. Then when BofA took over, they took no opportunity to rewrite mortgage before selling it to you. Seems they do a much better job following up and seeing the customer thru to the end of customer needs. While previously I was looking to take off to another loaner, the staff at Greenlight changed that around. Make sure you adopt the policies used by Greenlight!!! My refi of my existing account progressed very smoothly and quickly. Maybe even too quickly. I felt that my spotless mortgage history for over 18 years, coupled with my very good credit report should have been rewarded with at least another half or even three-quarters of a percent. I suppose I allowed myself to get swept up in the flow, when I should have insisted on further justifications of the rate and all other costs. What I am saying here is that the refi process with Nationstar was fast and professional. I just wish that I had insisted on representing myself better, even if it meant slowing the process down a bit.

So, I had a mortgage with Nationstar. On January 2, 2015 I paid this off, writing a huge check. I made the payoff after all of taxes and insurance were paid out through my escrow. On 1-11-15 my windstorm insurance lapsed due to non payment. Apparently, Nationstar Mortgage does not know how to mail a check to a correct address. They mailed the windstorm check to the right insurance company but to the wrong address. When the check came back to Nationstar, they deposited the money back to Nationstar on 1/8/15. Did they let the insurance company know? Nope. Did they let me the peon who had the loan know? Nope. So, I am fighting for my $1700 that is being held hostage by this HUGE many faceted company with billions of dollars. All I can say is thank goodness I no longer have a note with this company and I will never deal with escrow again. Hopefully, I will get my money back and be able to be insured once again.

I was able to refinance my house with Nationstar for a great new rate over the summer of 2014. For being conducted purely through emails and via telephone, the transaction went pretty smoothly. Of course there were some glitches due to distance issues. For instance, the appraiser provided the incorrect address on her appraisal, and it caused a hiccup in the underwriting process that took several days to resolve. However, that seemed to be more of a function of the telebusiness nature of this transaction.
My loan officer was very helpful. I could tell she was fighting for me, and looking out for me. Everyone else that I spoke with at Nationstar was also very friendly and helpful. I usually received responses to any questions or concerns on the same business day, if not within 24 hours. The funniest thing about this transaction was that I actually was working with another, local institution to finance another one of my properties at the same time. My transaction with Nationstar took about two months, while my transaction with the other financial institution took about 4 months. Mind you, Nationstar is in Texas, and I'm in Ohio; whereas the other bank was 10 minutes down the road. My only regret is that I didn't close both deals with Nationstar!!

I was wary about doing business with Nationstar. I had read their reviews, and they weren't good. I even asked the sales rep about the reviews and received what I thought was a reasonable answer: Nationstar was a terrible company that has partnered with or been bought by someone who was turning it around to do things right. All in all, our refi went about as smoothly as we could have hoped, and I would honestly recommend Nationstar if you were considering a loan.

Nationstar called me about refinancing. During our refinancing, I had very positive interactions with them. I went from a 30 year to a 15 year. They kept me up to date sometimes. At the beginning they were good. But then, toward the end, when it was time to finally close, they were lackadaisical. I had to call them. I have a second on it that had to be worked out too. I did everything they needed regarding that but the lender on the other side did not always do that. So it wasn’t anything to do with Nationstar, it was to do with the other people.

My mortgage was through Bank of America and they sold to Nationstar. Nationstar contacted me with some deals that were going on, and I thought it would be an opportunity to take advantage of that. Interactions were mostly by email and a few phone calls. I had been through a refinance program, a previous house that I own I had to refinance at one point so I knew the process and didn't have as many questions as some people that have not come through that before. They answered all of my questions and the guidance I received was great. They told me what all the options were these days and looked at the best ones and presented my options to me.

We decided it was a good time to reduce our term and it's easier to go with Nationstar, our existing lender, than it is to go with an outside lender. I would've gone to the lender I work for, but I can't yet. All we got from Nationstar was a very minimal reduction in principal and interest payment as well as a term reduction from 30 to 15 years. They did not listen to anything I said. I chose my title company, they did not listen or communicate that information. We only found out about it when we signed the documents and it took them yet another 3 to 4 weeks to close the loan. Unacceptable as it was a No Income No Asset loan. There's absolutely no appraisal. They had to verify and document nothing. No income on my husband's behalf, only that he was employed. No assets, no appraisal, nothing. It took them 45 plus days to do nothing. That is not good customer service. The first chance I get, I would be getting rid of them.

We had a previous loan with Nationstar. And it was an Interest Only loan. Nationstar had bought our loan from another company. They called us and said that we could get a lower interest rate with the principal loan. The process was kind of long for me. I have lymphoma cancer, and we've been trying to do a spend down so that we can afford to pay back the county assistants for some medical bills. I was just really frustrated with it. I took 7 months for us to get this loan process. I was ready to just throw in the towel and say forget it. Too much red tape. And every month they would send me a whole packet of thin sheets of all this stuff that they were doing.
After the process, our payments are lower and we're paying on the principal but it's still a 30 year loan so it doesn't help us a lot as far as how long this loan is. But it does help in lowering the loan by about $40. I thought that it was a little confusing that they sent an agent out and all he did was just have us sign papers and go over all the contract and sometimes, they kind of rush through all that.

I'm very happy that I refinanced but I wasn’t happy because they took a very long time... I don’t think they’re as knowledgeable as they should be. During the refinancing they tried to put things over on me and they couldn't because I knew more about closing than they did. Because I'm a paralegal for the last 30 years, I’ve had more closings than they have. But other than that they did a good job with the refinance and I think they could improve. The only thing I'm not happy with is when you go online you got to pay by the 10th, otherwise you got to pay extra.

From the day I called to ask about refinancing to the day our loan funded, was only 43 days & that's including Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years, so I have no doubt it would have been sooner if not for the holiday season. I worked with Randy ** to start the process and we finished up the loan with Eric **. They were both so nice to us. We had never done a refi before and we weren't sure what it was gonna be like. Well I can honestly say they made it so easy for us to do - I wouldn't be nervous to work with them again. Everything was done over the phone and through email. At the end they sent a Notary to my house with the closing papers so we could sign the documents. Everything was taken care of by them.
I read the awful reviews and know about the disgruntled people but I didn't have that kind of experience. I can't help but wonder if there were problems that arose with their finances in general. Our house appraised for what we thought it was worth so there were no problems there. As soon as they asked for a bank statement or pay stub I emailed over a PDF right away. Everything went seriously smooth so don't be afraid to give them a try. And if you are still nervous then ask to work the people I worked with then at least you know you aren't going to be dealing with total idiots. Randy ** was our Mortgage Professional and Eric ** was our Closing Coordinator. Good people.

I originally called Nationstar about the H.A.R.P./H.E.L.M. programs, believing that it should be easier to work with my mortgage company, rather than bothering my Real Estate Broker. Wrong! My refinance took 7 months to complete... Look it up! It was a nightmare! No one knew what they were doing, could not understand the simplest of needs, such as I had gotten married so I was no longer "a single woman". Through giggles, yes, giggles, by Nationstar staff, I was told that the creators of my docs were probably confused because my spouse is also a woman. Texas still lives in the dark ages, clearly, but California has evolved!
The Texas Neanderthals could not seem to understand that my wife could be added to my re-fi docs... So... docs were incorrect... Over and over and over for different reasons. Different idiots, different doc problems. Nationstar tried to sneak various charges into my mortgage that I had to demand to be removed. Then yesterday, I received a check from Nationstar for $250. Because after auditing my account, evidently something else was wrongfully charged, although I have no idea what. Because Nationstar does not communicate except through their own secret message site that one must sign on to. But then, all messages are deleted 2 weeks later so that their own words cannot be used against them! 'What e-mail?'
When not refinancing, it is impossible to find a person who can help online or by phone, especially when one's call goes to India. I refuse to deal with someone outside my own country! Keep jobs in the United States! I will never recommend Nationstar to anyone but my enemies and I hope my mortgage is sold to another company very soon!

As time came for the loan closure, I was told I needed to have $750.00 available at closing. I told Suzanna who was my contact that I didn't have that kind of money available. After several phone calls I was told that most of the cost would be rolled into my loan, but I still needed to have $179.00 available at closing. Overall, I'd rate NSM as "meh." Their rates are middle of the pack, so no points there. The website seems to be aimed at people with poor credit or first-time home buyers, so I feel a little bit degraded when I visit. They get a point against for that. Fortunately, I don't have to visit often since my bank's online bill pay sends my payment every month. On that note, though, sometimes due to how the business days fall, the payment is not processed until after Nationstar would like for it to be. As a result, they sic their collections dogs on you, who hound incessantly until the payment is processed. Another (rather large) point against, the online system does not play nice with Mint, my chosen financial management tool, so I have to manually log in for updates rather than having these be automatic. A point against.
The main thing that NSM has going in their favor is that they did make it quick and easy to refinance our loan that was already with them. Since we're not planning to stay in the house long enough to justify the cost of refinancing with another lender, they earned a positive point for this. Like I said in the beginning, an overall "okay" lender. There are ones I would prefer, I'm sure there are ones I would not.

Great service. They helped me lower my rate and number of years owed. Ecstatic about this opportunity. Thank you!

I refinanced my mortgage last year. The process overall was good. However, too many people got involved, constant turnover, paperwork was redundant… Received several copies of duplicated work & advised to discard 90% of what I received. Real wasteful. One minor annoyance - when paying online, if I wish to pay before the 1st of the month, I have to pay a fee. If I pay late, no charge. Doesn't make any sense.

Generally happy, but please stop calling my work number and bothering my employer! Also, I do not need to be reminded I have a payment to make!

Nationstar has an awesome website and online access, not only for accessing your account on a regular basis but also, when we had to go through our refinancing process, the e-document/e-signature process, makes it so easy and saves a lot of time not having to mail any paper documents, etc.

We have really loved Nationstar Mortgage and their service. Any time we have ever had any questions we have always had a courteous person answer our questions. Using the mobile and telephone services are efficient and easy! It is refreshing to be able to make a payment and not have it be a hassle!

This was our first to refinance. Nationstar Mortgage along with Greenlight Loans explained everything with us in detail before signing any documents. My wife and I were kind of nervous at first, but the team that helped us with the process made us feel that they were doing their best job to get everything right for us. Excellent work from the entire staff. We would recommend Nationstar Mortgage to anyone that is looking to refinance.

We refinanced our mortgage in 2014 and I was very happy with the process, the daily communication and of course the savings Nationstar was able to provide by helping us lower our mortgage rate. We pay our payment online every month and the online tools and support make that very easy.

Thanks for your feedback regarding the refinance process and our website. We appreciate it!

When you first took over, I had a lot of problems with auto take out to pay my bill and then I was told to do it online. Twice, you took out my payment from my bank account and then took out again when I registered on line like I was told. Caused a lot of problems with my bank. Now I write a check and send my payment in. Was much easier and less expensive with postage and such.

Nationstar's website is easy to use, and I have no difficulty making payments each month. However, when I needed to refinance, I had a difficult time connecting with the company contracting with Nationstar, and they were not as easy or flexible. They would not use email with me which is best for me, except for one person who was able to keep in touch with me. However, they would not consolidate my two mortgages even though that was the original request and did not tell me until the end of the process.

I have primarily dealt with Nationstar through their website. Everything is easy to find and it looks great. Thanks for your hard work. :)

It took a long time for me to lower my mortgage because my husband became ill. Thank to the help of your staff, they were very patient with me and never pressured me. I lowered the rate and I am saving a lot of money. Thank you for you assistance.

I have had mistakes made on my payments to Nationstar, and terrible Customer Service when I had to notify Nationstar of their mistakes, I received awful customer service. I then wrote a letter with many points made about this experience, and mailed it to the Head of Customer Service for Nationstar, but never heard anything back regarding my letter, and the comments within. In that letter, I summarized by saying that I would never recommend Nationstar to anyone due to the mistakes and poor customer service.
