    I wanted to lower my mortgage rate so I tried refinancing with Nationstar. I talked to the first person and she went over rates and what the payments would be. I knew enough to know what I wanted as far as rates and all that. When they confirmed that's what I would get, I decided to go forward with the loan. Then someone else handled it from then on in and everything was fine. They were able to lower my rates and since I was happy with them, I've recommended them to other people. In fact my sister refinanced using the same people that I did.

    Nationstar and Greenlight were my existing loan carrier. I wanted to refinance to get cheaper monthly payments. I could keep the same rates on the years left on my loan and I had had good experience with them prior to the refinance so I just figured that they were probably a good company to stay with. As far as the refinance, it was an okay experience and we accomplished the goal. My house payment is about $160 less than it was so that's awesome. But how we got there probably wasn't my favorite part.

    The gentleman that I dealt with (I think he was a loan officer) was Mike **. He was awesome. He knew exactly what he was doing. My only problem was the other lady I dealt with, Angela. She would give me an amount that I had to come up with in the form of a check to finish the refinance. The first time, I was told it was $64 and then it jumped to $800--a big difference there. When I got on the phone with her and I started asking her questions about what precipitated that big jump, she really didn't explain it all that well for me. So I did get Mike ** on the phone and he explained, "Okay, this is where it's coming from." When it was all said and done, it was only $180 that I had to come up with for the refinance.

    The only other glitch that I have is that my homeowners insurance was due. It's handled by my escrow account from Nationstar and they did not pay it on time. It was due on the 12th and they called me on the 8th saying "we haven't gotten a bill." We had to get my agent on the phone and verify all the information. That was kind of a hassle. It made my heart stop. I asked them very clearly if this would default my loan because part of my loan says that I have to carry homeowners insurance on my home. But Nationstar got it resolved and I just received in the mail over the weekend that my policy has been renewed.

    I have had this home loan with them for a while and so far, they've been good except for this one experience. It also felt like it took way too long to do that, and with Angela, I was a little frustrated with the numbers she was giving. Other than that, it was a pretty cut and dry process. Once the notary came over and had me sign all the documents, it went through without a hitch.

    The refinance went smoothly. The cost of the refinance was on target, but they rolled the interest payment into the mortgage instead of asking for a check at settlement as I indicated was my preference. I am concerned that they sold the mortgage before we even completed the first month payment. That makes me think that we did not get the best rate available.

    Nationstar bought my mortgage from somebody else. Their mortgage professionals didn’t give me any hard time, it’s just that I had different issues with wanting to refinance. They disagreed to the terms that I wanted to do, and then they agreed to it. The guidance that I received from them was okay. I wouldn't say it was a phenomenal experience dealing with them but it was okay.

    I've always been with Nationstar. The mortgage professionals I've spoken with were great. I asked direct questions and they answered me and gave me everything I wanted. There were two people. One was Michelle and there’s this very first guy that contacted me - he was really wonderful. Other people had called me and offered me a lower rate for like a 15-year mortgage.     My mortgage was transferred from Bank of America to Nationstar. Then we got a call from Nationstar through Greenlight asking us if we wanted to refinance. Since I haven't refinanced in a long time or ever, I started asking around and finally thought okay it's a good time to go ahead and do it. It was an in-house refinance, during which they were very helpful. They helped me understand the language and made me feel very comfortable especially not being very experienced in home buying and refinancing. They led me to the different options and helped me figure out the best things. My monthly mortgage payment is now cheaper. In the future, however, if I do decide to refinance again or purchase another property, I think that all my information should be in one spot so that I don’t have to deal with so much footwork.

    They were very inexperienced. They sent a very ugly person to my house. She had an attitude and came an hour late. My daughter and I were waiting for her. It was supposed to be a 3 o'clock appointment. She came in about five minutes before four. She claimed that she called me but didn't. She walked to my house like it's her house. I had to tell her, "I’m sorry, you have to leave my house now. You don’t have to come to my house with a bad attitude."

    I called the loan company and explained the problem. They arranged another person and I met him at a mall and he came there. He was okay because I knew him from the previous bank. But I think he made an error and all the documents wasn't signed, and I was going overseas the next day. So bottom line is I've done a good deal. I'm happy with it, but it was not a good experience. However, I would still recommend people to get a finance with the company.

    Our mortgage used to be through Bank of America and when Nationstar took over, we got a letter from them saying that we were eligible for refinance so that's how we found out about Greenlight. The home is a rental home and the people who were renting it were basically paying us the amount that our mortgage was at the time so refinancing helped us make a profit. The only thing that was confusing to me was that we kept getting assigned to different people who were going to help us do the rest of the paperwork. I got an email once a day saying that a different person was going to be my helper and didn't know whom I should send my paperwork to. Finally I called them and asked which person was actually helping me. Since we refinanced, we can pay our mortgage easier. Our experience with them was easy and they were friendly.

    I have contacted several departments at Nationstar Mtg. to try and work out a temporary solution to our payments for a 3-4 month period. We are temporary low on funds because my husband isn't working and drawing a very low amount monthly unemployment. He needs to have surgery which he has put off because of the money situation. I offered to pay the interest and escrow due monthly on our mortgage until he has surgery and can work again. No one at Nationstar is willing to help us and tells me there is no program that you have available that we qualify under.

    If I make the interest and escrow (approx $650.00) then Nationstar is protected for the balance they have loaned on our home, we would be the party affected because our principal would not be decreasing during that 3-4 month period. BUT we would still be in our home and getting our feet grounded again. If his work situation did not improve in spring, we would put the house up for sale. The value is more than the principal loan amount owed. Please reconsider my offer or find a program we qualify for so neither of us loses. Thank you in advance.

    Up until May of 2014, my experience with Nationstar was good. It was then I started the refinance process which took more than 5 months to complete. My case continually got put on the back burner, and everything was handled last minute. Additionally, the new 9.95 fee for paying my mortgage online is ridiculous. I would not recommend Nationstar to anyone that purchases a house in the future.

    My recent experience refinancing with Greenlight Loans was virtually perfect... It was easy, quick, I got a decent rate, and both my originator and loan processor provided awesome customer service. I was approved quickly, my processor knew exactly what she was doing and was super-friendly and helpful, and the loan closed quickly and with no problems.

    The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that about a year prior to this, I had a different Nationstar rep call, set me all up for a loan, check my credit, approve me, etc... And then, a month or two into the process, tell me that "Oops, we can't do this loan for you because of some obscure rule in Texas that I didn't realize before." So, no loan -- and I never got back what I paid for the credit check AND there was a hard inquiry on my credit report. That rep was NOT helpful and didn't seem very informed. So, it seems like they have highly upgraded their system and customer service since then. As I said, this recent refinance was a near-perfect experience.

    I had to contact the representative on the status of the loan, and due to their over site along the way, I had to fax documents, then repeat faxes due to a glitch in their computer system that cost me money and time. I feel that Nationstar caused me to have to spend money on issues they were responsible for. Additionally, the courier had to come twice for signing due to an error in the paperwork which cost me time and waiting. The reps attitude when I was bringing this up felt like he didn't care about the additional time and my money I spent. I feel I should be compensated for $25 on emergency faxes, and something for time due to their errors and urgency. I had to contact them to see why they weren't following up with me and almost missing time constraints.

    The offer for the refinancing option was presented very well. The "middle man" was put in some pretty tough spots with details that delayed the process. Due to the delays, we received a late notice (and fees) on our current mortgage payment. One would assume, completing this process in house would have the left hand knowing what the right had was doing. I personally watched the closer go through everything once with me, then 2 more times while still at my house. There was still one spot that I needed to initial, which caused a delay even more. In the end, I think it took over 2 months, and we were on pins and needles though much of that. Melissa took care of everything and made it all work! We are grateful that she was there for us!

    We recently refinanced our mortgage with Greenlight and the experience was a mess from start to finish. Our original loan officer was replaced after not getting back to us in a timely manner. While the next person was more on the ball, the loan took so long to complete that our credit payoff amounts kept changing and in the end, checks had to keep being reissued. We ended up taking out more money than necessary and then getting refunds sent back to us. Lastly, our fourth quarter taxes were supposed to be paid by the bank and were never sent so we had to pay a small interest fee. A very frustrating experience.

    I have refinanced my loan with Greenlight two times now in 9 months. The first time I worked with Andy ** and Valencia **. I was very skeptical about the process, I was very unsure of my reasons to refinance my loan. After talking with andy about my concerns, he explained the pros and cons to me in terms I could understand and not all them big government mumbo jumbo words that mean nothing to people. My bottom line was the mortgage payment I would have and the closing costs. That's where I become skeptical. Closing costs they say a fee then a few days later it seems the fee got higher. Andy tried to explain it to me but I started to back out. Andy gave me some time to think about it then called me back a day or two later. After about a 2 hour phone call I chose to refi my loan.

    After a short time I was contacted by velencia **. I thought I would ask some of the same questions I had asked andy and I got the same answers. At that point I was happy, they seemed to be honest and sincere. She spent a lot of time and patience with me, after all was said and done I was very happy. Then about 9 months later andy called and said the rates are lower yet and he could get me a lower house payment with a low cost loan. I never hesitated or questioned it and I started the process again. Working with andy and valencia was a great experience for me. They were very professional and knowledgeable in their positions.

    I would recommend greenlight loans to my friends and family but I have to say I would want them to speak with the same people I dealt with. Though I know there is a lot of people working to close on the loan, it's competent people like the employees at greenlight loans that seem to go the extra mile or extra 60 minutes on the phone to do business.     Sunchoice sold my mortgage to Nationstar. After the mortgage was transferred to Nationstar, I had another house and sold it and put $100,000 on the mortgage. The mortgage went down to $62,000. I was gonna open a business and needed to refinance a house in order to pay the money. Nationstar offered me a refinance company that would handle it, and gave me Greenlight to refinance. They were very professional. Everyone was very great and it was handled very nicely. However, they told me the extra money that they had returned to me was short of escrow, so now the mortgage went back to over $1,000. That didn't hit me well.     Nationstar sent me a target letter in the mail saying that they knew my current interest rate, my current payment, and that I was eligible for a lower interest rate and a lower payment. That got me interested and it looked right so I just pulled the trigger on it. The mortgage professionals I dealt with were alright but as it got towards the end, I cancelled a couple times because they seem to be very disorganized.

    They were calling back with “Now you need this. And after that, once we get that we can close.” And the next week, “Oh, now we need this document.” It was just a couple things that were really aggravating to the point where I'd just say, “Just forget it man. I'm not screwing around with you guys anymore.” And they sent me an email begging me to come back saying “Well we can get a close. We can do this and that.” But then on the closing itself, when they had everything they needed, they said someone would contact me to come out and sign the documents and no one came out. I never heard from anybody.

    Then two weeks later, this lady called me and said she wanted to confirm our appointment for the day at three o'clock or something. It was eleven. I said, “Well first of all, I don't even know who you are. I can't confirm anything ‘cause there’s never been an appointment set up.” And I said, “I guess we can make it work if that’s what you’re gonna do. Let’s get this thing over with.” She said, “Oh, they should have let you know. I’m sorry. It should have already been confirmed. I was just calling to make sure you were gonna be there.” And I said, “No, nobody contacted me. Nobody told me anything.”

    Then she called at 2:30 and apologized. She said she can't come out because my loan docs weren't available. They weren't on the website that she goes to print out all the hundreds of documents. She said they weren't posted so she had to cancel. Then I didn't hear anything back for another week and then finally she called and said she had all the documents and that she set up a date. But again, I didn't hear a peep out of anybody there up to that point - it was just between the lady trying to close and me.

    Their job is to process loan payment and they can't do it right. Many hours I had spent correcting their mistakes in allocating fund for my mortgage payment. They had me paying interest that had not occurred intend of applying it to principal as noted on their payment forms. Even after switching to the automated payment they would go and split the payment up again and I would have to call to have corrected after being on hold for long periods of time. So as a mortgage payment payment taker, seeing as they can't take a payment correctly, I would have to rate them as horrible to the worst.

    I am writing this review, since I try to contact Nationstar but with no luck. I sent 3 emails but got no real response. When you call you cannot talk to human, its a machine. I don't want other people to make the same mistake I did. They are the worst ever. If you can help it do not borrow money from this company. They are basically thieves. They have your info- they go as often as they like into your account and take the money. This month they took double of the amount we agreed upon. Last month they took 1 1/2 times of the monthly amount. And no matter how many times I wrote them. They just put their hand in my bank account and help themselves. Be aware of this issue and do not take a mortgage from them. Learn from my experience.

    Refinancing with Nationstar was a painless experience. It was very simple, very easy to do. I've had mortgage with them for a long, long time and I just redid the mortgage because I wanted to do some home improvement.     My mortgage was sold to Nationstar. I refinanced because I kept being told by people that my interest rate was way too high. And I also went with Nationstar because they, more than anybody else, sent me literature and stuff to make it happen. The gentleman who did most of the process, Tommy, was excellent.

    There were a couple of things that happened that were extremely troubling and did not serve me well at all. Basically, at one point, Tommy told me that it would not be necessary for me to pay my November or December mortgage. So I didn't pay my November or December mortgage. And on a Friday in December, I received not one but two letters from Nationstar telling me that because I had missed payments, my mortgage was in foreclosure. I'm 72 years old and no one has ever told me that they were foreclosing on my home and I did not respond very well to that. It wasn't just one letter saying that. It was two of them saying exactly the same thing. And they arrived on a Friday at a point at which I could not reach anyone in their offices from the letter.

    So all through the weekend, I went through this 'Somebody is going to try to kick me out of my home' type thing. And when I left a message for Tommy, he called me back and he said, "Sheila, that can't be right. We have closed out that mortgage. It has been paid off in full." And I said, "Well, so explain to the people who are sending me letters saying they're foreclosing on it." He said he's looking at his screen and it shows zero balance on the mortgage. I said, "Well, good for you but I'm not looking at your screen. I'm looking at two letters that basically say that Nationstar is planning on taking away my home."

    I have no problems with Thomas. He was very good. He sent me a copy of his screen and called me back the next day and basically, it was an issue of things having crossed in the mail but it was a mistake that truly should never have been made. In my adult life, no one has ever dropped that one on me before so I was not happy about it. They sent somebody out to my home to notarize my signature on the papers and I had been told about a check that I needed to give them at the time to cover interest. I had the check for them. It was in the amount that I had been told to have and two or three weeks later, I got a check from Nationstar saying that wasn't the right amount.

    To me, that doesn't speak of professionalism. They had my money for a few days when it just wasn't due. So altogether, I wasn't very happy with them. I really appreciated Mr. ** but the rest of the process, frankly, didn't seem to me to be very professional or very well done at all.

    After Countrywide went down, then Bank of America went down, my mortgage went to Nationstar. I was interested in getting a lower interest rate with a shorter term loan. I filled this form online. Then Nationstar contacted me. I thought it was interesting that my mortgage company would call me and they had a division called Greenlight. They said I was eligible for HAMP or HARP, which is an unusual situation--a red flag when you’re savvy. Usually, you have to shop for mortgages.

    I thought when my new mortgage document would come, that it would say Greenlight, but it still says Nationstar. Even on their interest statements it doesn’t say Greenlight--it says Nationstar. They need to create more transparency given the fact that we have so many bogus lenders. So I would give them five stars on everything because they initiated. I would say they were excellent if they gave a little bit more transparency and utilized the name Greenlight if the refi went from Nationstar to Greenlight. But otherwise, I was very satisfied. The interest rate went down and shortened the term of the loan, which is what met my needs.

    Nationstar and Greenlight bought my existing mortgage. I had my house appraised well above the split stale price so I wanted to go ahead and drop a PMI because I had only put in 10% but I had another 10% back wages. I chose Nationstar and Greenlight because of convenience. They made my monthly payment cumulatively lower.

    About two years ago, I refinanced one of my properties under the HARP program and it took almost six months to close the deal. When I called the first time, I talked to this gentleman and after that, he never called me back for anything. It would be common courtesy to call me up and say, “Well, everything is done.” Despite that, everything went well but it’s pretty hard. They ask you questions again and again--my credit rating and this and that, and this paper and that paper. The thing is, I’ve been paying my mortgage and this is just a refinance so this procedure where basically I got transferred from Bank of America to Nationstar, they already have all my information in front of them. It bothered me that the underwriter asking me this question and that question when I had provided all the information.

    I can understand that this is normal, they have to check you out and make sure you’re not gonna steal the money or you’re gonna get a loan and default on it. But I’ve never missed a payment in 40 years when I was with Bank of America, and I’ve been with Nationstar at least 4 or 5 years and I haven’t missed a single payment. I'm a good customer--I don't miss a payment, I'm always on time so they need not drag this. I have a credit rating of 795; it’s not 500 or 600 and they’re dragging me to the mud for what?

    The other thing was that until the last minute, I didn’t know if this loan was gonna close or they were gonna refinance me or not or they were gonna reject the loan because of some stupid little paper. I felt that I was dragged into the mud. But that’s what happens with mortgage companies. You have to expect that, you have to have the patience. At least the refinance went through so the process was okay overall but it was dragged out to several months when it should have been done in about 25 days.

    I called Nationstar Mortgage at a time when I needed help. I spoke first to Mr. Jeff **, and told him what I needed. He told me about how they could help me. he explain everything and made sure I understood. He was very kind and helpful. He waited for me to read and sign the documents. He never rush me through the process. He told me he had to turn me over to another person to finish the process, but if I ever had any questions to call him. I thought that was great!

    He turn me over to Dolores ** who was fantastic! She guided me every step of the way. She was so helpful and listen to every question and concern I had.     We had a bad very experience in the past with a refinance. My husband would hang up on anyone calling from a financial institution and did not allow me to take their calls. When Jeff ** called and said he could help, I told him that my husband would not even consider it and started to hang up again. He ask me if I could just get him on the phone for five minutes so he could explain the difference in what he could do as opposed to what had been done in the past.
