The overall experience with getting our loan was not all that great and still waiting on some answers with Shanta ** . Thought that they were taken care of at closing and they were not. We were not told not to make our Feb. 2015 mortgage house payment (we did) and we did save a month payment. Told that we didn't have to give a check to the closer and we did, and was told that we know the who was coming to our house to do the closing and never knew until the person called right before closing and Shanta ** told me she would email them with all the information and never did (told me this 2 times). Told me she would correct the fact that we had made a Feb. 2015 mortgage payment. We would have a check for about 200.00 dollars at closing and the rest taken off our mortgage and didn't do any of this either. Disappointed on how things went with company.

I tried for a year to set up automatic payments. I filled out online application and 2 mail forms to apply. I have been calling to make my payments at a fee of $14.00 each month. I was told today January 31, 2015 from a Nationstar representative that she would have a supervisor named Joseph call me within 3 1/2 hrs which I felt was ridiculous in the first place to wait so long to receive a call back. You would think it would be simple process for a representative to do.
I was told by her, she saw one of the 2 forms mailed for auto pay to start 4/1/2014 but was not processed. She did not explain why it was not processed but said her supervisor would call me by 2 pm eastern standard time and this was at 10:34 am. He never called so I called back and spoke to another representative who told me they could not make out the last number of my checking account. I find this difficult to believe due to the online application and 2 separate forms sent. No one bothered to contact me regarding this matter.
I finally got the matter taken care with the second call today to them at 2:20 pm to start auto payments on 3/1/2015. I feel Nationstar was trying to scam me for the monthly fee and not being honest. If my bank account was not legible then someone should have contacted me. I was charged $9.50 today when I paid my payment for February 2015 with the representative. I was being charged $14.00 for telephone automated payment. I am very disappointed with their service. My loan started 11 years ago with Bank of America.

We'd like to apologize for any delay you may have experienced in regards to your auto-payment request. We're currently reviewing the account in order to provide a response via email within 5-7 business days. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

I fell on hard times.. it happens and I wanted to get caught up. Basically, I was told that I needed to pay a certain amount and it wouldn't go into foreclosure. This was on January 2, 2015 we agreed to January 23rd. On January 7th I received a letter that it was in foreclosure. I spoke with another rep on January 7th after being upset that I received the letter. Very nice lady. We agreed that I would send a wire transfer on the 31st giving me enough time to come up with the amount of $4731.60. She provided me with the wire information and said she will call me back for a follow up. It had already been noted that the time of day they call is my work hours and I can't take phone calls.
Well on January 30th I called got the wire information again via email. Sent the amount. Called to let Nationstar know that I was told that because it was the 30th after noon on a Friday the bank was going to try to push the payment in but it may show up on Monday. I told the rep the amount I sent and said it wasn't enough. I told her that this is what I was told to pay and I asked about additional fees. She stated that I spoke to Kristina on 01-23-2015 and she told me the additional amount of 4 hundred + and I told her no I didn't. I explained to her that I was out of town and I know that I didn't talk to her and I would love for her to produce the recording. She then stated that Kristina left me a message of the amount needed. My problem is how do you not tell me of the different amount. I was told I could pay $4731.60 on the 31st of January to only find out that this was not true.

I have had several issues with Nationstar since they purchased our mortgage several years ago. I have had to spend several hours on the phone with customer service getting payments credited properly. I also recently received a letter saying my account was not current. This letter obviously was quite upsetting as I knew it to be inaccurate. After speaking with a rep on the phone it was confirmed the letter was issued in error and I was told to disregard.
My mortgage and my credit in general are very important to me and I take great care in making sure things are paid promptly and correctly. I question Nationstar's accounting practices and I find it disturbing that I have encountered the number of issues I have. It has been very upsetting whenever one of these things has occurred. I will say in general the customer service reps I have dealt with have been courteous and helpful, I however resent being put in the position of wasting my time and energy making sure their mistakes do not adversely affect me.

I tried for one year to refinance my house through a traditional mortgage broker that I had used with previous property purchases/refinances in the past. After an indescribably amount of paperwork, back and forth, waiting and stress, all attempts failed miserably. My situation is a bit different because I currently live overseas on an expatriate contract with my company. Even though I am a U.S. resident with great credit, long term and stable work history, contract guaranteed work future and equity in my home I was repeatedly turned down for refinance. I then received a letter from Nationstar saying that I qualified for a refinance.
I finally decided to just call and check it out even though I had a very heavy heart about a successful outcome. I told my story to the account manager and he instantly said, "that's no problem, we can do it and we even have agents in Germany so you can close your new loan from over there." I was skeptical but I trusted him and decided to move forward.
Within a matter of weeks, with limited paperwork and practically no frustration I closed on my refinance. This has saved me > $400 per month and dropped my loan/value ratio below 80% which also helps me save every month. Nationstar's teams turned a frustrating, time wasting and disappointing process into a complete success that shows in my bank account every single month. The paperwork process was clear and simple, the closing was so easy I wondered if I had dreamed it, the returns from my escrow and previous month's mortgage payment were all sent to me in a timely manner that required no effort from my part.
My new loan account information and payment details also transitioned flawlessly. I have since recommended Nationstar to U.S. and international expatriate friends. Nationstar will be my only choice in the future as I am thinking to purchase an investment property in the U.S. in the coming year. Sincere thanks from a very happy customer!

I'm still making my payments but yet still no one wants to talk to me and I'm under water. I'm trying to refinance right now and no one really and truly wants to work with me because they're saying I don't qualify now. Well, I qualified before. We informed them that we had been trying but were not having any luck. After about two years we have just got our funding. Due to a misunderstanding with a county home improvement loan, things were held up again. Loan office noted process can get done quickly since we were qualified thru the Fed. Didn't happened due to unforeseen issues. Then further documentation was required, resulting in a "conventional" loan process that necessitated full income, asset, etc. declaration and verification. 4+ months later, the loan went through. But before finalizing, the rate went down. We asked for adjustment process to take advantage of the lower rate. Our request was ignored, and the higher rate stuck. We had to initiate and push the loan officer/closer to check on our paperwork status to keep it "moving!" Very disappointed and dissatisfied especially the original loan was held by Nationstar! Good grief. Don't use these folks unless the borrower has lots of time and patience to babysit the process as well as putting up with a higher rate.

I was phone transferred from Nationstar to a company called NationWide and got into their bi-weekly program which ended up being them just taking money out of my bank account every week and paying Nationstar once a month (NOT what I wanted). In addition to that, they failed to tell me that a month wouldn't get paid. So, while money was coming out of my account, Nationstar was not getting paid and I ended up getting a late fee + being behind my payment. Every time I called about this, no one knew where my money was and no one really looked into it. Finally, (after I cried on the phone to a rep), she looked into and let me know that I wasn't even set up on a bi-weekly program with Nationstar. She helped me track everything back and get me back on track.
I cancelled the program with Nationwide and got caught back up so all is well that ends well, I suppose. However, had the first 5 reps taken the time to really look into the problem and LISTEN to what I was saying, it would have been taken care of much sooner than it was. I also feel that I was one of the ones that was totally set-up back in 2007. My house is worth over 100K less than what I owe and while the fat cats continue to get fatter, I struggle to make 2K house payments on a house that really should only cost me 1K a month. Sad state of affairs what you all did.

The refinancing didn't go particularly well. The issues are the same as I had the first time around and it's really with Greenlight. Basically, they took much longer than they should and they made many mistakes along the way and then had to correct them. As regards my refinance options, basically, I knew what I wanted and getting definitive answers was sort of like pulling teeth. The refinance, when it finally went through, lowered the interest rate. If I had any reasonable choice, I would have dealt with someone else. Basically with the way it was handled (this was over two different times but particularly on the first one), I would say it cost me at least $5,000 because of inefficiencies and the way they handled things. It's as bad as it could be.

I can sum up my experience with Nationstar Mortgage in several short terms: it was a nightmare. Nationstar bought our loan; we got transferred whenever Bank of America went under. The rates went down so it was more economically feasible for us to refinance. We started with one who filled out our application and that was fine. Then we got another girl that took over and we filled out all the paperwork for them.
Then the new girl took over and I don't know what happened. I don't know if the other girl left angry or anything. We had to start all over, so it took us almost 75 to 80 days to get it completed when it should have just taken a short period of time. They didn't give us much of an option. It was "Fill this out. This is what you're getting." One person didn't really talk to another so we had turned in all of our paperwork and then they held up the loan again because they said "Oh, we don't have all of your paperwork" although they had it.
Then, because it was closing at the end of the month, the person who was in charge at that point was rushing us to get other things done within a day in order to make that particular one or they were going to tell us that they would stop the loan and we would have to start all over again when in reality, it's their fault. But it was like that because they locked in the rate and they couldn't hold the lock for more than a day because it was the end of the closing of their accounting period. If we hadn't gone as far as we had, we would've probably gone with somebody else but they were pretty much done at that point. Since refinancing, the house came. It's a little bit lower but that's about it.

I was already a Nationstar customer and I got something in the mail about refinancing using Greenlight. I had a first and a second and my second had a balloon. It wasn't coming up quickly that I knew at some point I needed to do something and the interest rates were starting to creep up. My second was at 7. I only talked to one other mortgage company and it seems like early on, the loan originator was going to be a very simple process. They already had a lot of my information because they're a division of Nationstar. So for me, I was looking for ease, simplicity--the fewer steps I had to go through, the better.
The loan officer seems very knowledgeable. However, I had a lot of issues with the processor. She would not return phone calls, emails, and basically did not communicate very well. Originally she told me that we were going to close on a certain day and the closer came and I signed all the papers. Then when it came to fund my loan, it didn't fund. The reason they gave was because my homeowners was being paid out monthly, that I had to finish paying the rest of my current policy.
She hit me with a big, "You need to pay almost $500 that you weren't expecting to have to pay and you need to do it now so that we can fund." I said, "Well, I can't pay that until payday," which was four days later. She said, "That's fine. We'll just fund it then." Then it didn't fund and she wouldn't communicate and it still didn't fund. I got contacted by the closing company that they had received an order to send the closer back out to reclose my loan and I received that notification before I heard anything from the loan processor about re-closing.
My parents used to own a mortgage company and a closing company so I'm pretty familiar with the process and they just really was not very professional at all. When I got to the table, instead of getting back 500 and something dollars, I only got back like $75 or something like that. It was never explained to me. When I was contacted by the closer the second time, she finally called me back and I said, "Okay, well, I want to know about my bottom line. Am I still getting the $500?" She said, "Nothing has changed." Of course it had changed because the interest was different. The days were different. All of that was different. That's when I found out that I was only getting back $75.
Now, I know that that's my money that I owe. Either way, I know that there's no free lunch. Every day carried interest but it was just the communication. I don't know what the deal is with Sara **. But she was either overloaded or just doesn't return phone calls. When I talked, I got so frustrated I called the loan officer back and he said, "Oh yeah? Well they never call you back." I went over her head to her boss and he finally called me back but by then everything was closing and funding and pretty much resolved. I don't know if I'm probably worse because I do know the process and I have different expectations or if I’m a typical customer, but I was pretty upset and frustrated with the entire experience.

Refinancing with Nationstar took a long time because I was going back and forth with different people who were being let go so it was grueling, to say the least. I've spoken to so many different people that it felt like I was going back to square one every time a new guy would come on board. But their guidance was good. I don't want to say bad things because the last guy really did help me but it took a long time and a number of different people for me to get the right help. It was very disappointing but I'm not angry; it finally got closed so I'm happy about that.

My wife and I refinance with Nationstar Mortgage and we highly advise that you finance/refinance with any other lender! They are slow to reply and very unprofessional. We started out on the phone with one agent then sent to another and spoke off and on with them for a few days until finally initiating the refinance. Then trying to get a reply back when we had questions was like pulling teeth. We finally received responses after contacting and emailing Supervisors with Nationstar. Then once it was time to sign paperwork we met with a random person that was subcontracted by Nationstar. We had to meet him at a public place to do this at which there seemed to be additional fees and items that showed up on the finance that were undisclosed until this process. Very frustrating. We will not be financing through this company ever again and plan on sharing our horrible experience every chance we get.

We appreciate you informing us of your concerns regarding the refinance process. We're reviewing the account and will respond via email within 5-7 business days. -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

During the process of refinancing my mortgage it was discovered on title search that a lien was still on my deed from a previous mortgage. I was upset to find that something was not recorded with the registry of deeds showing that the prior mortgage was paid off many years ago. I was told by a Nationstar representative that it would be all taken care of if I closed with Nationstar with the refi. I trusted in this and my trust was betrayed. The prior mortgage holder told me that they couldn't send me a lien release without a copy of the title search from Nationstar showing that a lien from them was still on the deed.
I called Nationstar and they told me they couldn't send me a copy of the title search, that the loan was closed now and they no longer had the title search. Now I am screwed, I still have the old lien on my deed. Nationstar closed the refi without taking care of the problem as they told me they would and I feel betrayed. I should not have trusted Nationstar and should have made sure that the lien was removed by whatever means by Nationstar doing something or by my doing something under the direction of Nationstar or a combination of both. Before I closed, now Nationstar has the refi, and I both still have a lien on my deed and have had my trust of Nationstar betrayed. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND NATIONSTAR MORTGAGE TO ANYONE!!!!!

Our loan was sold to Nationstar over a year ago. Everything has been great, no complaints at all. We kept receiving notices about the opportunity to refinance at a lower rate. I called the number and learned that the company we would be refinancing with was called Greenlight Loans. I had never heard of that company before and was a little nervous. The person we talked to, Alan, was great. He detailed out how much we would save with the refinance. I looked up Greenlight Loans online and didn't find many positive reviews. I told Alan of my concerns and he assured me everything would be fine.
So, we went ahead with the refinance. A small part of me was nervous, but I tend to look on the positive side of things. I have to say that everything went through flawlessly! I even waited to write this review until I was absolutely sure that everything was good. And it is! Everything transferred over correctly, we received the escrow money from our original account. I have no complaints at all. So, if you are looking to refinance and see bad reviews online, here is one review where everything went right! Thank you Greenlight Loans for a great refinance experience!

I was at the end of my five-year rate and I wanted to renegotiate a new rate. Nationstar and Greenlight were my mortgage company at the time and in the end they gave me the best rate. But it wasn't easy. They came in with a rate. At first it was 3.7%, but I was going on vacation for a month so I wasn’t able to close the deal on time. By then, they couldn't give me the same rate so they were going to give me a higher rate. I decided to look for another company, but I was forced to go and get quotes elsewhere and get some kind of written quote. I don't recall what they called it but in the end, I had to do a whole bunch of extra work to finally get the rate I have now, which ended up being 3.375%.
As a customer, I wasn't very happy about having to redo all of that work again. I have to resubmit my bank accounts and I had to do all the paperwork over again. And something else happened. They sent somebody to close and we went through the whole closing process and then a week later, I was told that we had to do it over again because they forgot the paperwork for us. That took almost an additional month to close. I had to close twice so I'm not really very happy with the whole process.

Dealing with Nationstar was easier compared to others. Their mortgage professionals were good and I was able to have a lower interest rate. However, I didn't get a lot of refinancing options. Also, the person who was in charge was really unorganized. We were supposed to close one day but we didn't until another day, and we didn't even close until 9:00 or 10:00 at night when we were supposed to close in the afternoon. They couldn't find an attorney to close with. It was a mess. In all fairness because there's not a local branch here in Georgia, it's very difficult to deal with companies over the phone or through email. I like a personal touch and I don't think you'd get that personal touch when they're not in your area.

I refinanced my mortgage last spring. Since May 2014, when I call in for telephone customer service the telephone system tells me that my next mortgage payment is due on May 2014 for an amount that is only a fraction of my true mortgage payment due. Customer service indicated this is linking to my old, now paid-off balance, not my current mortgage. I am unsure why this cannot be corrected and it does not make me confident about the company's ability to accurately manage my mortgage. I have asked customer service to change it twice but they say nothing can be done as long as I enter my social security number when asked by the telephone system.
In addition, when I refinanced the paperwork did not check whether to withhold my insurance payment in my escrow or not. Instead of calling or e-mailing me, your company simply forwarded the annual payment to my insurance company. Since I was already paying the payment monthly and it wasn't being calculated into my escrow amount due I had to contact the insurance company and have them reimburse me then. I couldn't send the extra escrow account back to Nationstar until my next payment was due. In the meantime Nationstar increased my monthly payments by nearly $200 to cover the "escrow shortage". When I asked that to be corrected and asked for a new statement to be sent out I was told "You can only view that online, we won't be sending you a new statement. ".
Since this error was committed by Nationstar in the first place, why did I have to spend my time to fix it? Finally, it took me two calls of nearly an hour each to get the information about the escrow account fixed. When I was referred to a fourth person??? to fix the telephone message I was asked if I wanted a call back, and if so to press "1". When I did that I was merely recycled back to hold.
Updated on 02/27/2015:
Although Nationstar finally resolved my escrow issue it took multiple calls, multiple staff, a complaint on this site, and hours of my time. In addition the payment correction wasn't processed back to the month the error originated, March. Therefore I had to pay $100 more than my new 2015 payment to clear my payment for next month. The corrected payment doesn't take effect until April. I still don't understand why this matter couldn't have been accurately and quickly managed or how to best manage any additional concerns in the future. I haven't tried to access the phone account information so I have no idea if it is still incorrect or not. I still have little confidence in this company to manage my mortgage correctly.

We're sorry to hear about the escrow issue you dealt with! We're currently reviewing the account and will provide a response within 5-7 days via email. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

I've had the absolute worst experience with Nationstar. My issue concerns an escrow mistake (I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that it's truly a mistake). The phone calls I made to them in the fall of 2014 were met with incompetence and pure ignorance regarding the products that their company services. Not one representative ever returned a phone call that I made to them. Not one representative was ever able to help me with my issue. I hired an attorney to handle this for me since it was apparent that they don't like to deal with their customers in an honest and upfront manner. He wrote the letter outlining the problem and provided my request for a solution. We received no response from Nationstar. Not. One. Word.
I filed a complaint with CFPB. Nationstar responded via the CFPB website that they will look into my issue. There was a sort of *PS* at the bottom of their response saying that they never received a letter from my attorney. Interesting because my monthly mortgage check was in the envelope with the letter from my attorney. The bank cleared that check. So......they saw the check but never saw the two page letter that the check was attached to?? I received a voice mail from Nationstar a day or two after the CFPB website response. "Brandy" called and left her name and number at Nationstar and asked that I call her. Thus far I have called her 15 times and each time it was answered by her voice mail. That's some great customer service, I tell you!
So, I wonder.....how is it that from December 31, 2014 to January 27, 2015 Nationstar seems to be making so many customers so happy that they want to post their 4 and 5 star ratings on the BBB website?? For months prior to January 1, 2015, customer complaints were overwhelmingly 1 star ratings. Wow, wow, wow! What a turnaround! Well, good for all the happy customers this month. I'm glad they are satisfied. I guess I'm dealing with an all together different Nationstar Mortgage because I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the way they do business. Because, I look at it this way- if the mistake on my escrow account were truly a mistake, wouldn't they want to correct it and keep their customer happy? Innocent people don't run. Criminals do. And look at Nationstar run-all asses and elbows.

If you're still in need of assistance, please let us know and we'll be glad to help out. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

Dissatisfaction would be an understatement. Nationstar is the epitome of a company where "the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing". We were, on countless occasions, asked for documents that were already submitted. During the final stages of the process, my office was called over 5 times to verify employment.
And that was just within the last 2 weeks! My wife had to explain more than once why she took a different job. At the same time we were working on our loan, my son was also obtaining a loan through Nationstar. He is currently in the military serving overseas. It was a difficult enough process due to the time difference and his military schedule but Nationstar certainly made things worse for him. He was also asked numerous times to submit documentation that was already completed and sent.
You would think that after we closed on the loan the troubles would cease, but no, it didn't. On 2 occasions (to date) Nationstar has paid our homeowners insurance company funds that were already paid at closing! I have received 2 checks back from the insurance company that Nationstar took funds from our escrow and overpaid. Now the onus falls on me to get that money back into my escrow account. My hope is that my loans get sold to a more organized, competent company and fast.

Good afternoon, We appreciate you informing us of the issues during the refinance process. Our Customer Relations team is currently working to provide a response within 5 days via the email address listed on the account. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

Almost a month after I had submitted the form (via fax twice), I called back and got redirected through loops again.
