Nationstar was easier to deal with as they hold my current mortgage..The loan processor and the loan agent that I spoke to were very helpful. Things went good and really fast. It was the smoothest process that I got.
Reviewed May 20, 2015
My Mortgage was sold to Nationstar in October of 2014 by Bank of America. The only problem is that the loan was part of a short sale in 2010. Upon receiving initial letter from Nationstar I called and spoke to a representative and explained the situation, they asked me to email backup proof which I promptly did the same day. 6 months later, 40 emails, 60 phone calls & and resubmitting the same backup information 4 times because they "were unable to locate it" they sent me to collections with Veripro.
I called Veripro and provided exact same backup information and my account was cleared in 5 days and sent back to Nationstar. I have now called 10 separate times and tried waiting on hold for a representative which results in a hang up after 30-45 minutes, and requesting a call back... which never comes. Nationstar has severely affected my credit rating and therefore my ability to operate my business. They are reporting I am over 180 days past due on an account that BofA is also reporting I settled in 2010. This organization is completely void of customer service.

Thanks for your follow up! Our team's currently reviewing the account and will follow up via email with 5-7 business days. -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

My loan was sold to Nationstar and for first three months were a nightmare. I was not sent an invoice (monthly payment notice) but was told my first payment was late. My info was incorrect and called several times and received mixed and conflicting information each time I called. There was also a charge for online payments of $9.99 which my old loan did not have. When I refinanced with Greenlight I was told no out of pocket costs then that changed to $600.00 on the day of signing - never told that beforehand. Not what you want to hear at the last minute. Then they lost that paperwork but found it a day later. Took several weeks to approve that loan as well.

It was a wonderful experience with Nationstar. The staff was amazing. The three people I dealt with were lovely. I was not treated like a number. I was treated with compassion. They understood and they reassured me and it was done very very quickly. It was like 2 1/2 weeks. I've done several closings during my lifetime but this is amazing. They made it stress-free for me because I was freaking out. Now the only complaint I have is a major one. I had no warning whatsoever that I was going to double my payment, no emails, no paperwork, no nothing. I was hit when I opened my laptop. I went to pay and bingo, it was there and nothing ever was told to me. Even though through the years I always would get a warning when there's going to be a fluctuation - Nothing major... $30, $20. But this was major, major, major, major that I want to file an official complaint.
I have no complaints about the refinancing, but what was done to me, I don't think it was right. I think I should have gotten a warning that I was going to increase from 8,000 something, I went up to 15 hundred and had to pay it. And the other one I was never notified but I was warned that it was coming by the staff that took care of me and I went ahead and did the refinance. If not, it would have happened to me and this happened with my main house, my main property. I don't think that's right. Imagine if I would have been a single mom having to feed 2 or 3 little kids, stuck with this loan that was given to me years ago and I couldn't refinance because nobody would give me the money and I was stuck with an interest only mortgage loan and eventually I knew this was going to happen.
This caused a lot of emotional stress for me. I got sick. I have to go to the doctor. That's how bad I took it. But other than that, my experience was great. I don't know whose fault it is. I don't know whose drawer this paper got stuck in and neglected to tell me. My sister's a banker, so I know what goes on sometimes. This is somebody's well-being, their life. Luckily I have the money to pay it but this is just unheard of. My overall experience with the HARP was great, and would absolutely recommend them for that. But what led to it, NO. I don't think that's right and I wish somebody would look into that. I'm not happy at all with Nationstar because they should have warned me and I'm going to make it a point to speak to somebody.

I had my mortgage refinanced by Nationstar. The mortgage professionals were fine, it's the problem I have with them after the fact. It's hard to get to talk to anybody. And I like to pay ahead on my mortgage payments and I've requested that it be set up the way it was before with my first mortgage with them. And so I mailed in two payments and of course it hadn't been set up that way. So they've been posted as principal payments and I'm still trying to get that resolved. It takes about twenty minutes to get through to a person and then from that person you have to get through to another person. And even though you know that, they won't put you through until they ask you all the same questions that everybody else has always asked you, and then they say "Now we have to put you through." Even though I had requested, I've given them extensions numbers, they still put you through the hoops. It's a terrible customer service.
I wish I hadn't refinanced. I wish someone else had offered me the same refinancing. This is just easy because it was the same company. But I would have never have chosen them to do so. Maybe it'd be easier if they could just make their people available to actually do something. That'd be a great start.

Oh but I'm getting "you're late with the payment calls" and the fee of 9.95 for payment after the 9th day. Spoke to 2 reps, one assured me I have 60 days BEFORE a 9.95 fee is assessed, the other one kept asking me "where is the payment". My response, "where is my loan paperwork". Both reps said they have 30 days to send out our welcome package. I don't want a welcome package, I want a loan number and an address!!! Side note: the second rep is in the Philippines. I'm calling the Philippines for a mortgage based in the UNITED STATES??? I have held mortgages with various companies for 30 years and NEVER EVER been late on a payment. Refinancing with Nationstar was pleasant. They were informative. They provided the necessary information I needed to make a decision. Options were very favorable. They answered my questions and helped me work through the whole process. With the monthly mortgage payments, I was able to refinance at a lower interest rate and reduce the number of years that I owe. We went from 22 years to 15 years with not much difference in the monthly rate. It worked and it's all good.

I dealt with Nationstar because Bank of America sold me to them originally. I went to refinance. I went to several different places and then I checked with Nationstar to see if they can refinance me. They're friendly and efficient. All I wanted to do was stop the payments from going up because I was locked into Making Home Affordable Modification that Bank of America did and my interest rate kept going up which put my mortgage payment up. Nationstar said they could do it, and I've had no problems. Only problem I had was one of the banks I dealt with over the years hadn't sent a proper wage release. It was written on our refinance mortgage instead and we had to find that. I got upset with that but I found it so it worked.
Nationstar was quick and efficient. They told me I only had a couple of options and said "This is basically what we can do for you and if you want to do it, do it..." and I did. They did a really good job. They're really together and seem to know what they're doing. I'm on a fixed rate, and that's all I wanted to do.

I'm not so happy with their process. They didn't send us a mortgage settlement statement. When you call them, any information that you need goes to Texas and it's like the black hole. You never get an answer. They also haven't sent us a title, and want us to go pick it up after we paid escrow fees. I'm not happy with their escrow department. They never sent us the title policy. Not a good experience at all.
We did have a lower rate, but were actually just forced to stay with them because they have our mortgage. We have two mortgages with Nationstar. They gave me a HARP loan, not a federal loan. They're not doing me a big favor. They're doing it cause the government made them do it. I've had experiences with other mortgage companies, and it's not that bad. At least the other mortgage companies send you a mortgage settlement letter when you pay off a mortgage, and Nationstar didn't do that. I had to call them and the old loan was still showing on my records. So, I don't know if I was getting ripped off or if they're just incompetent, but that's not right.

We would be glad to assist in providing the statement. Please reply with the property address for the account that has been paid in full so we can help. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

The initial person that I spoke to at the very beginning of the process was great at answering all questions. The motivating factor, with his guidance was to go with a 20 year mortgage with a lower interest rate and I would still be saving about $100 a month from my current mortgage. He even stated that there would be nothing due at closing and they would waive any and all fees since I have been a great loyal Nationstar customer. Well after having 3 processors, (the second processor left the company) with the the 3rd coming four days before closing and resending me the same forms I had filled out a few time before, I now apparently owe about $600 in fees that I was unaware of until I was sitting at the closing.
As I checked my personal email during the closing I noticed an email that was sent at 10:00 a.m. that morning telling me to bring just under $600 to closing. And with me being at work all day, I never checked my personal email. Why would I? I was under the impression that I would owe no fees. At the closing I called Nationstar and explained what happened. They apologized and then agreed to waive the fee of just under $600. I was feeling great until we began signing forms and noticed that on about 40 of the forms had the wrong address listed. We had to then initial all of the changes, not to mention check every other page to ensure they had the correct address listed.
Then about a week later I received an email from another representative from Nationstar saying that I needed to sign a change of fees form. I called the representative (**) and explained the many problems that I have encountered and that the approximate $600 in fees were waived. She said that everything was set to move forward, but she needed the form signed and returned to her. She was never able to fully explain the 'change of fees', but the impression I left with was that this form was updating everything to ensure that I owed no fees, correcting the previous mistake. I would also like to add that I did not appreciate her professionalism when she was fighting back giggles and laughter as I was explaining my situation. Now, I admit I could be oversensitive, but with all of my frustration, I didn't appreciate the apparent comedy on her end.
Fast forward a few more days and I get a frantic call from the notify they did the closing asking about the fees and the missing check for $586 and change. I now have to call once again to deal with this horrible experience. It will be interesting, but whatever happens I will most likely never use or recommend Nationstar to anyone. My wife was talking with someone at her work that shockingly had many issues with her first mortgage with Nationstar and threatened to fly on the next flight to Texas and visit their corporate offices.

I used a mortgage broker who did a refinance on an investment property I had. He was okay but seemed a little scattered. I was just amazed that what he said actually worked out in the end -- I noticed interest rates dropped substantially. He put me with a bank and they immediately sold the loan to Nationstar. So then I have a loan with Nationstar and interest rates dropped.
Seven months later, I called the same mortgage broker and said, "I see better interest rates. What do you think?" And he says, "Yeah, I think I can make it work," and he gave me what he could do for me. I said, "Okay. Let's go ahead and do it." The process went on for two and a half months. He was very full. Then I got an email from Nationstar, right at the end where I was ready within a week from closing and they had requested to pay off the amount from Nationstar. The email from Nationstar said I'd be getting a call shortly about whether I was refinancing or selling the property. I got a call and I said I was refinancing. They set the loan up and said they would call me if I would like. I said, "That would be fine."
The Nationstar fellow called me and he was excellent. He was all-business, went over my current package, and everything was approved. I was going to close in a week and he says, "I can beat that rate by about three-eighths of a point." We talked a little bit and we did a lot of electronic shooting of financial information over the next 24 hours. He said, "You're going to get the loan. It's fine now. We've just got to go through the steps on the appraisal. We'll pay for that." They put me in touch with the loan processor. She was an excellent communicator, always follows through, acknowledges everything she got from me right away so I knew it had made it. Almost everything was done electronically, which I loved.
The loan officer and, particularly, the loan processor, really made the difference. When I had another question along the way when I was working with the loan processor, she quickly brought the loan officer back in and he clarified something and got it all fixed. He was great and they were both man and woman of their word, trustworthy, kept you informed, great communication. I did almost all of it on the internet with them. They did send me one package. There was a lease on the property and they needed the whole lease, and my scanner couldn't handle that, so I had to go and make a copy. That was the only thing I ever shipped through.
And lo and behold, the loan closed and I'm with Nationstar still. So there are three things I like about the process: It's a good practice for Nationstar to contact their customer whenever they receive a request for a payoff to find out whether it's a sale or refinance, because that was the way they kept my business. I hadn't really thought about calling Nationstar to ask them for a rate. I didn't know much about them other than I was happy with their service. But they had just bought my loans, so I'd only been with them like five months. So I would say kudos to Greenlight, the loan processor and the loan officer. I worked in the financial world, in the banking industry. I was really impressed with them and I've told a lot of people about this. I said it was just the most amazing experience compared to other mortgage experiences in refinancing and buying and selling properties.
The only thing that I was a little disappointed at after I got the loan was when I called in and wanted to arrange an auto payment, thinking it would be easier to do on the phone. I got somebody who was obviously brand new. I could tell he was being trained and they kept on taking me off and putting me on hold repeatedly, and it was getting nowhere. I'm like, "I know you have to learn, but I don't have all the time." I went and did it on the internet myself and it was real fast. I recognize that people have to learn, but it was really pathetic. I might have been his first call. But I found the website really easy. I already used the website from the previous mortgage, so it was all good.

My brother who used to live with me moved and somehow all my mails from Nationstar including my monthly mortgage bill went to his new address. He is not on the loan and has nothing to do with the house. I have never called Nationstar to change the mailing address. I've reached out to Nationstar multiple times within the last year asking them to please fix the mailing address back to the home address of the loan and each time was promised that it has been fixed and that mails from them will come to the home address of the loan as requested. However, all mails continue to go to my brother's address. Every time I called back, I was told the same thing that it has been fixed and that it could take up to 2 months for the change to go into effect. This made no sense but I didn't want to argue their practice.
The attempt to get this situation resolved has been over 1 year. I'm just not understanding how fixing a mailing address can be this difficult and this much headache. Finally, the last time I called which was at the end of April, I requested to speak to a supervisor but the customer representative would not let me and reassure me that she has fixed the issue (same thing all the other representatives have said in the past). As frustrated as I was, I decided not to push and once again, decided to allow Nationstar a chance to prove their employee's competency. However, I was not surprised when I discovered that my May 2015 bill went to my brother's house as usual. I'm holding my cool and will wait until June to see if the bill still goes to my brother's house.
I'm usually a very patient and understanding customer but this is getting a bit ridiculous for something as simple as an address change. I am hoping and praying for a resolution...I feel it's not much to ask for. :)

We first would like to apologize for any frustration the mailing address issue may have caused. We're reviewing the account to see why the change of address continues to occur and we'll provide a response via email within 5-7 business days. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

It comes off my account every month like a clock work. I pay around $150.00 extra principal. Nationstar has managed to screw up my account so bad that they charged me late fees almost every month. Since the amount I send is a round number and a bit more than the payment amount, they apply the whole amount to principal and show no payment for the particular month. Then they charge me a late fee. Then they reverse the payment and put it in reserve account, eventually the payment gets reversed from the reserve account and disappears. I receive no credit for my payment.
I have called more than 100 times to Nationstar, been on hold for hours at a time and no one is able to help me. I do not know where else to turn. It seems like my money is being stolen by this bank. At the beginning, my loan was with a different carrier. Then it got bought by Nationstar Mortgage. After that, I had an offer of reducing my monthly payments with lower interest because I paid very high then and I took advantage of the offer. During my refinancing, the Nationstar mortgage professional who helped me has been excellent. Everything has been fine with the guidance that I received when discussing my refinancing options. We pay more times than what has been borrowed but the system works very professionally so I'm happy with it.

I have never been so frustrated with a company. I sold my home in 2011 and Bank of America released the lien on my home. Nationstar bought the loan not knowing this, and then came after me in 2013 for late payments, etc. I sent Nationstar paperwork verifying that the property was sold and the loan was released. In September of 2013, I received a letter from Nationstar saying that they executed a title search and found that the lien was released prior to the transfer date, and that as a result, the account was closed in their servicing system and that they would not report to any credit bureaus. At this point, I was happy to have it behind me.
Now, in 2015, I am dealing with Nationstar all over again about the same thing they said was taken care of. They are sending certified letters to my door. They've reported delinquencies on my credit and virtually put my current streamline refinance at a standstill. They have brought my credit down 100 points for reporting late fees that do not exist on an account that they don't have a right to report on. Although this is THEIR mistake, they are in no hurry to fix it, nor do they care if I am frustrated. Each call is a whole new experience with a new person that is just as uninformed as the next.
Overall, their customer service has been an absolute nightmare. Hold times and wait times are 15-30 minutes each time. Faxes are lost, emails "not received" and phone calls not returned. Every person I talk to reads from a script, and supervisors are constantly unavailable. (As I write this, I am on hold with TWO phones - one has been playing music for over 30 minutes and the other has been over 10.) While you wait on hold, you can sometimes hear the people in the call centers laughing and having private conversations. My recommendation is that if your loan is sold to Nationstar, you refinance with another company as soon as possible. (Run!!!) Their customer service is absolutely terrible. If I could give this review a negative star, I would.

Everything went just fine, except that on the day of closing, Nationstar pulled a mortgage payment out of my account. I had automatic withdrawals and they did something they weren't supposed to do. It took multiple emails about a month to finally get a refund. I was very unhappy with that. The agent was fine. I think she did a very nice job. It's just unfortunate that that happened. I suggested to them that they should really talk to the potential customers and make sure that if there's a chance of the closing and your mortgage payment crossing that day, you really should shut down automatic withdrawals, which is something I certainly would have done so that didn't transpire. I finally did do that, but it was one payment too late.

They keep telling me that they will take care of it and NOTHING! I may lose a sale on my house because of their lack of concern. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told that he WOULD NOT accommodate my request. Do not trust Nationstar!!! The sale of your home is too important. I have done business with at least 10 other lenders and have never had a problem with them.
Updated on June 10, 2015: Nationstar replied and has told me once again that I need to receive the release of lien from the JP Clerk of Court. My response...OK, so here we go again. The Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court DOES NOT HAVE IT!!! Otherwise I would not have contacted you people 8-10 different times with ABSOLUTELY NO SUCCESS AND...I have had to pay form my name/address to be run several times. Again...the Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court DOES NOT HAVE IT!!! I NEED TO GET A COPY FROM YOU!!! YOU ARE KEEPING ME FROM SELLING MY HOUSE!!!
I do not know how many times I need to inform you people of this. This is the absolute worst customer service that I have ever received...for anything!!! I am sick of being jerked around by you people! NEVER NEVER use them...this has been going on since January - and the mortgage was paid off May of 2014. Bank of America recently sold out mortgage to Nationstar. We still haven't talked to anyone who can speak English. With BoA we were able to pay our mortgage bi-monthly, like every other mortgage we have had. To be able to do that with Nationstar you are required to pay a $300.00 fee which they refuse to explain why, or pay an extra $10.00 every time you make a payment online. This place insisted we pay extra each month for some sort of "accelerated mortgage" to pay the house off sooner. It comes to an extra payment a year, or so they say. We were never actually told this would go to payoff our mortgage sooner. I have never seen a place try to force so many hidden fees on a customer. We have been with them less than month, and I see nothing but problems in the future.

We have multiple free payment options for making your payment including paying online before 10 days past the account due date. For all options and details, please visit: https://goo.gl/BMqMe2 In regards to bi-weekly payments, we're not set up to process payments in that manner. In order to setup biweekly payments, you would need to contact Equity Accelerator at 1-800-361-9719 or contact another 3rd party company of your choosing. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

I moved out of the property in 2013 and the property was foreclosed on 2014. I was sent letter telling me to sign paperwork for a deed, meanwhile they had foreclosed on the property. I was never notified. I signed for a DIL 3 times because they kept losing the paperwork.
Every 6 months I had to deal with a new "person" who did not know about the previous DIL or who the other person was even though I had forward the emails with Documents to new "person" from previous "person". I cannot buy a house now because Nationstar did not follow procedure and instead of being able to buy a house after a year I have to wait 7. I was to be modified because I was unemployed for 9 months and I was asked to pay 3 "good deed payments" and I did. After that they still proceeded with foreclosure. Switch and bait company.

Nationstar service has impressed many customers. But when considering whether to finance with them, it is important to understand, as I did, that they are a new company, without much experience or sophistication. Regulators also follow them closely, to make sure they are not expanding too quickly. My unfortunate experience is a case in point. I wanted to refinance a house which had grown substantially in value. Everything seemed fine, until they learned that I live at a foreign address.
Although I have received at least three US mortgages from this address, Nationstar decided three months into the process that they could not give me a loan. I was cancelled unceremoniously with no explanation. When I demanded a reason, it was given, but no recourse was offered. When I pointed to my other mortgages, they said Nationstar was not experienced enough to deal with borrowers who lived overseas. If they cannot do this simple transaction, one wonders what else they cannot do. I would not use this bank.

We're sorry to hear you were no able to refinance with us. We do not yet work with customers overseas, but we'll be sure to share your input with our upper management team as we look for ways to grow and expand in the future. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

I believe that Nationstar was the mortgage that our present home have before we moved in. I've learned from the TV that the interest rate has been down to 3.25 with an APR of 3.50 and they were saying that the interest rate is probably going up a percent and a half in the next six months or so. So I said to my husband, "I think we better try to refinance and get a little bit lower interest rate" especially since if something happens to us, my son will probably take over the home and I wanted him to be able to make the payments.
A loan without the taxes and insurance were lower than what it would be to rent an apartment but still kind of high when you figure the taxes and insurance. So I thought that if we could lower a little bit maybe make it a little bit more easier for him to make the house payment if something happened to us. That's why I called this company rather than Quicken Loans or somebody that's on TV like they're advertising. They were talking about refinancing. So, I just thought rather than going through an appraisal since we have our mortgage with Nationstar maybe they would just go ahead and give us a lower interest rate since everybody else has got a fairly low interest rate right now but it might be going up in the next year. So, we did it now.
The guidance we received when discussing our refinancing options with Nationstar was good. ** answered all our questions. He was very nice. I was there closing at the dining table and I thought it happened really fast which was unusual because it's 30-day or less but it seemed to happen in two weeks from the time we provided the information for them which is very unusual. It was fast but enjoyable so I will say that Nationstar is a good miracle in my life. If I know of anybody that wants to refinance their house, I will recommend Nationstar. My husband and I were both very well pleased.

Then in 2010 Nationstar took the loan over without my consent and since I came out of bankruptcy all they've done is screw with me and my home loan... Why???
Also, I paid my Chapter 13 bankruptcy in full after 5 years as of November 2014. But when my Chapter 13 was finally discharged by the trustee Nationstar Mortgage said I owed them like over @ $3800 extra due on my home loan mortgage. Not once while I was in Chapter 13 bankruptcy did Nationstar ever tell the trustee or my attorney I had an outstanding extra hidden balance. During this time period and while all along having the full loan payoff amount, Nationstar initiated foreclosure proceedings against me. For years Nationstar sent us letters saying we qualified to re-finance our mortgage loan. I finally decided to give it a try. When I called the number and spoke to the first person I was told this would be basically a "slam dunk". From there it turned into one of the worst experiences ever. We were passed off to greenlight loans, to a person that took as long as possible to get back to us and requested endless information. We filled out the same info 4 times. We were not asking for any money we just wanted to lower our interest. So my question is if we were making a payment for 10 years with no problems, never late, have great credit, why the extensive re-qualification when we were told it would not be necessary?
Basically they lie to you to get you started and then string you along with promises of an end in sight if you can give them "just one more thing". The signing was done at our home with a notary. She brought this stack of papers that was over 200 pages and was not allowed to answer any questions we had about what they all were. I had to call our "person" at greenlight and wait for her to call me back, then she had to call someone else and ask them then call me back. Took forever! In hind sight we should of walked away and gone somewhere else but just kept thinking, we'd gone this far surely there was an end in sight. And there was. Overall, bad, bad, bad experience. Run, do not walk away from this company.

The costs were able to be added to the loan, in one and another with minimal cash out of pocket. This included the appraisal, loan costs. Interest rates were great, better than Local. They called or sent a letter that said our house payment was behind and it was in foreclosure. So we had to call and go through all that again. There was some issues in the beginning regarding payment because we had been overcharged by a couple of years from B of A (we had Bank of America prior to Nationstar buying them out) and Nationstar took care of that for us and gave us a check in full for the amount for the two years that we had been overcharged. But other than that my experience with them hasn’t been that great. I've been with them now for a couple of years, now that they've had our contract, but if I could buy out my contract I would buy out.
When we first got bought out from B of A through Nationstar, we were in the process of trying to renegotiate our contract with B of A to get our payment every month down so we could afford it. We were trying to re-modify our loan. When Nationstar purchased our contract from B of A, all of the paperwork got thrown in the trash. They said we would have to do it all over again and sent us all the paperwork. So it was a big hassle in the very beginning as soon as Nationstar took over.
We tried for at least three to four months to get them to do a re-modification with us. They kept sending us paperwork and calling us and telling us that this wasn't done correctly or that wasn't done correctly. They kept losing our paperwork. "We didn't get this copy of this" and "We need the copy of this." Well we sent it all to you. We sent you everything that you requested and now you're saying that you didn't get half of it? We know you got half of it because it was in a registered letter and it was all addressed and sent to you. You had to sign for it and now you're telling me you didn't get it?
So now if I had to recommend them, I wouldn't. They lost all the re-modification loan papers and wouldn’t work with us whatsoever. We just did a new loan with them through Greenlight for a lower rate, a lower monthly payment. But it was a re-fi and not a re-modification and that was initially what we had requested in the very beginning.

I have documented all my efforts and emails and conversations. The right hand does not know nor care what their left hand does. Nor does anyone want to help out the consumer. I have attempted to get thru the bubble crisis even though my house is still underwater and all they can say we have no programs for you.
I have contacted numerous federal programs just to tell me that my mortgage company needs to start the conversation and process. I am four months into NOT paying my mortgage since it continues to be underwater and I get no help from Nationstar! I rarely have a difficult time ordering a mortgage payoff statement for a client who is selling their house. I was told by customer service that I had to fax a request and was given the fax # 214-222-7139. This is very common as a third party (lawyer) ordering a payoff statement. Two days later with no payoff in sight, I called customer service back. This time I am told that I cannot request a payoff statement by fax, I must do it online. I asked why someone, just like her at customer service, would not only tell me that's what I needed to do, but gave me the fax to send it to. She repeats I must do it online.
Well she is as credible to me as the person I talked to two days ago. Why should I ignore the request I faxed, PER NATIONSTAR MORTGAGE'S REQUEST. I asked to speak to a supervisor. In 30 minutes time on hold, I did not get to speak to a supervisor. While holding, I make the online request. At the end, it says the payoff statement will arrive in 5 DAYS. I need the payoff today! I ordered it 2 days ago! Every bank I have worked with (I've been doing this for 10 years) gets it to me usually within 24 hours. Some fax it over before I am even off the phone!

Wow, I should have sent this to you sooner. But my name is ** and about a year ago I was trying my hardest to be able to refinance my home. I had received a call about refinancing and was put in contact with Greenlight loans - with Nationstar. The guy I was put in contact with was Mr. **. Right off the bat he told me that he would do whatever he could to help and to make the refinance happen... I got to say he's a man of his word. I feel that he had gone above and beyond of just doing a job. Which is hard to find in someone nowadays, someone that cares about what they do and how it can help others. Through numerous emails, phone calls and his help and support of setting things up I was able to refinance my home loan.
At and around that same time of being introduced to and talking with **, my mother had become extremely ill and within a few months of all this had passed away. During that time, with all things considered, when ** and I had spoke he had even took a min to asked how things were going. That means a lot... We were able to get my home loan refinance but because of all the crazy things life throws at you I never got a chance to say thank you or to be able to tell you how amazing it was to be able to work with ** and how incredible of a person I believe that he is.
Now, about or a little over a year later I'm in need of some help again. As all things in life grow, so has my kids and we are now in the search for a bigger home. So my thoughts were to skip the local banks and talk directly to my mortgage company. As I was told by Nationstar, Greenlight Loans was who I needed to talk to. So I searched and looked up Greenlight Loans' number. A gentleman answered saying, "Thank you for calling Greenlight Loans this is ** how can I help you." I told him my name and after a few mins of talking and telling him where I lived and what I needed, he asked, "Do you happen to work for UPS?" and I do... Amazing how out of all the people I could have been talking to I got ** again. He even asked how my mother was doing, and sad to say she has passed now.
He informed me home loans wasn't his department, it was refinancing but reassured me that he would do what he could to help to get me in the right place and with the right people who could help. I don't care who you are the customer service from this one gentleman has just been amazing, and there needs to be more people like him. As our search to get preapproved and for another home loan I feel great to know that with his help we are going to be in great hands. I had initially talked to my old mortgage company a few years ago, and was pretty much told that they could not help me because of my student loan debt along with my other debts. I resigned myself to try to make it work with the 6.5 percent I had until Nationstar stepped in to brighten my day with a lower interest rate, which will help me pay towards the principal not just the interest and at a lower monthly payment. That is what I call customer friendly, customer first.

The worst mortgage company ever. Every three months they do escrow shortage, they raise your payments. Stay away from Nationstar mortgage. Thieves stealing money damaging taxpayers credit.

We are legally obligated to perform an escrow analysis by a federal law known as the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA). Regulations require lenders to perform an escrow analysis before the establishment of an escrow account and once every twelve months thereafter. If during the course of the year there are significant changes in any of the bill amounts, we may analyze the account more frequently. If you have specific questions or concerns about your escrow account, please reply privately. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

Obama offered no refinance fees. If so, there was no mention of this from anyone at this company. My loan was started by one person who sent me to another person and then I was sent to another person. It took over a month to complete and I had to sign my papers twice. I dont understand why I had such a long drawn out process. Every time I was assured we could close in a week, it changed to two more weeks. Very very frustrating.

We're sorry to hear the refinance process did not go smoothly for you! We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve our processes. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

My mortgage was sold to Nationstar. During my refinancing, the professional who helped me was phenomenal, friendly, and knowledgeable and was extremely thorough in guiding me about my options. This is not my first time to refinance my home and he is the best representative I have talked to from any company, hands down. After refinancing, it took 13 years off my payments and lowered it a $100.00 a month. I would recommend Nationstar Mortgage to a friend!

Nationstar employees were very knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and forthcoming with honest answers to my questions. I appreciate the timeliness that we were able to finish all steps in the refinance process. I was able to roll a second mortgage into the primary mortgage, something I had wanted to do for several years but most importantly we were able to get a lower interest rate. Thank you.

I had a good experience with Nationstar and they're pretty good. After they took over from Fannie Mae or Sallie Mae, they're a little bit more organized with the way they structured things. They also send you friendly reminders to make absolutely sure. The two ladies that I worked with for the refinancing were extremely helpful in reducing the interest in that refinance. We had one higher but we were talking about 5 point something. Then after running back and looking over things, they actually lowered the interest even more, so they helped me save some money. I would recommend them to a friend.

Nationstar Mortgage has made the modification process near impossible to complete. After fourteen months, four applications (one over the phone and three submitted online) it is beyond frustrating as a homeowner to fathom why a federally mandated program is so hard to implement. I am also extremely dissatisfied with the time it takes for my loan specialist to contact or update me. I have a better chance of reaching him on the general phone line than through his direct number.
I have been asked to submit documents six or more times. Then the website states "they're still missing," although I email them to the loan specialist, upload them onto the website and fax them in. Everyone I speak to is very apologetic, but it's difficult to accept apologies as my payments fall further behind. Also there is no phone number or person to speak to directly. I've looked on the website and asked multiple representatives where I can file a formal complaint and there is no such department. What can a homeowner do in this instance?

The refi process was good, but at some point there was kind of a confusion with the girl that was actually closing the loan. With her, I got in a little bit of uncomfortable situation because she was telling me things different than the person that initiated the loan. But in the end everything worked out okay. My intention is to be able to refinance and to consolidate my debt with the house and lower the interest as much as possible. Nationstar helped me a lot.

First thing is to let the Lenders know what loan is available to them and if they are qualified for these different loans (good interest rate, no down payment, etc.) -- right off the bat!! Tell them what would possibly hold up the loan (bad credit, having an Equity Loan on the property with another Bank (like I have) or anything else!!)
Give Lender a reasonable breakdown of all the bills, date and time (home insurance, property taxes, etc.) that will have to be paid several months in advanced showing a dated payment receipt. The hardest part for me was trying to keep up with the amount of money of the downpayment amount when the dates started to change.
After dealing with Nationstar Mortgage refinance in 2013, going through the whole process and signing my first loan agreement, it died with Nationstar Mortgage. At this point my daughter didn't want to have anything else to do with Nationstar Mortgage (I talk her into it one more time). I had to call Nationstar Mortgage after several weeks of no notification to find out what was going on. It seems they had a problem with my Equity Loan and getting the Subordination Agreement from Bank of America. What was the problem?? This time Nationstar Mortgage was able to get this information without any problems or for me paying the $250.00 to get a copy that Nationstar Mortgage said I would have to do!
Lenders should be told if done by long distance by phone, PC, fax and email, it may take a lot longer to meet some of the deadlines quoted to them to complete causing figures of the loan and the date of closing to change. Also remind them that they will have to do a lot of leg work to get papers needed, email, fax and copy!!
This refinance with Nationstar Mortgage, I think was a very long process. The best refinance without any major problems and easy flow to the end was with Bank of America. I really can't say I would recommend Nationstar Mortgage to family or friends. Sometime calling the Nationstar Customer Services Department, I may talk to three different people asking the same question and get three different answers.

I have been trying to resolve an issue with **, our closing coordinator and she is not returning any of my phone calls or emails. We re-mortgaged our home and in that we took out money to pay off a student loan. The student loan check was sent to the incorrect address by Nationstar. The student loan is not paid off. I am currently still paying the student loan payment with interest as well as a larger mortgage with interest because of an error by Nationstar. I have also left messages with **, **'s supervisor and received no response. I have contacted Navient where the student loan is through. They will refund the money to Nationstar in 30-45 business days. I have spent a lot of my own time trying to fix this issue and have had no support or help from Nationstar. We have paid Nationstar for a service that is not complete and I am extremely frustrated.

We appreciate you informing us of the issue with your refinance. Our team is currently working to provide a response to your review within 5-7 business days via the email address listed on the account. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

Our mortgage and home purchase was no easy task. It took 9 long months. The saving grace was our Purchase Closing Coordinator **. She helped us through every little detail and hurdle we encountered. She went above and beyond in many cases. She was always prompt in providing information and returning emails and phone messages. She was patient with explaining details of the loan process and quick to make things happen. She saved us money and lots of headaches by going above and beyond her duties. My Nationstar experience was a little painful but it's finished up to this part. Their underwriters got all the docs together and then finally got it off to wherever it needed to go to get the final resolution. For me, that part seemed to have some gaps and I don't know what those gaps were but I would call and follow it up. It felt like most of the time it was troublesome. It seemed more like it was coming from me instead of the one who did the closing.
