The refinance with Nationstar was fine. The regular customer service, if you can't handle it online, you can die in line waiting on somebody to talk to you. Customer service is slow but I've never had any major problem. And they were able to lower my payment.

I'm a renter for this property and was offered a cash-for-keys and I accepted. I took off of work for 4 days to remove everything from the property, and start cleaning the place up and get ready to turn over the keys. 4 days before we're supposed to turn in everything it got cancelled and I haven't heard anything from Nationstar or solutionstar. I went above and beyond what they want. I even wrote letters to them and telling them everything but not 1 person has contacted me. I hope someone sees this and they make contact with me soon.
Updated on 8/26/2015 - I'm living in a rental home, in May of 2014 I was notified about the home being in foreclosure. I was offered "cash for keys" to move out of the home while it goes thru the foreclosure process. I accepted the offer, 3 days before we were supposed to vacate the property Solutionstar the sister company of Nationstar called me to tell me they are backing out of the offer and that I could stay until the end of June. I was offered another cash for keys and I accepted and this time I asked for things in writing being that I've been given the runarounds with this company and they declined. I could write a book about all the things this company has put my kids and I thru. The least they could do is give us the monetary offer that I was promised.

So sorry to hear you have not been able to get in contact with us for assistance. We're reviewing the account now to see how we can help with the Cash for Keys program. We'll follow up with you via email with an update within 5 to 7 business days. -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

When my husband and I chose to refinance our mortgage through Nationstar, we had multiple issues with communication. Several times we were asked for information that had already been given - to the same person. We were also asked for things such as bank statements without an explanation as to why they were needed. When I asked someone why they needed these things, they fumbles over the answer and had to get the information from someone else. I did not get the impression that the folks we worked with were very organized or really understood what they were doing. On top of that, we were told multiple times, by representatives of Nationstar, not to make a payment for April but then received multiple phone calls FROM NATIONSTAR, telling us our account was past due! Overall it was a very disappointing experience in customer service.

We're so sorry to hear this process did not go smoothly for you! Please know that documentation is needed to verify income and provide approval during the refinance process. We apologize if the additional paperwork caused any inconvenience. -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

Nationstar contacted us for refinancing and were very cooperative and helpful. We had some circumstances that were hard for them to deal with. We were teaching in Thailand at the time, and we had to communicate via Skype. That made it somewhat easier but we're back in the United States now. That added some complications that were not normal for every transaction. They told us our refinancing options. It was very accurate, very thorough, and they were very diligent. We’ve had the benefit of shortening the period of time refinancing our loan with them.
During the closing, there were some complications. They had contacted one closer and they had not given him an accurate indication as to what he was going to need to do. He had understood that he was only going to be printing off 4 or 5 pages and that we were going to be signing up and that was it. It ended up being all of the documents and so we had to reschedule with somebody else. We also had to try and reschedule where we were going to meet. However, the closer was very accommodating and the final transaction went smoothly.

Nationstar constantly calls and emails harassing about monthly payment prior to the late payment date. I receive multiple calls at the beginning of the month approximately one a day plus emails regarding mortgage payment. I even spoke to a representative once and said the payment was not late until the 16th and it was already scheduled thru my bill pay, and she insisted on wanting to take a payment over the phone! We completed a refi with them as well (Greenlight) and it was an absolute nightmare. Things were incorrect. We were told different things from different employees that were not on the same page. Took 3 months and docs were incorrect when notary came out. Such a horrible experience. Definitely not the company I would recommend or choose to go with ever again.

To avoid payment reminder calls you can set up Auto-Pay for your account. This allows you to have your payment automatically debited each month, from the checking, savings or money market account of your choice.
You may choose for your payment to debit any day between your due date and the last day of your grace period; it cannot be set to withdraw prior to your due date or after your grace period expires. This option is free of charge.
For example, if your due date is on the 1st of every month and you have a 16 day grace period, then you may select the any day from the 1st through the 16th of the month as your draft date. If at any time your selected date falls on a weekend or holiday, the debit entry will occur on the following business. A late charge will not be assessed.

It went well at first with Nationstar. I was totally upfront that my next mortgage wasn't going to be taken out for the month of May. I kept checking to make sure there wasn't no order to put in for them to debit my bank account. They turned around and took the money out of the account. Until I checked my account on a Saturday - I called and left a message anyway even though I knew it was going to be closed. Then I called back and they said it could take 30 days to get the money back. I sent the request and show proof that it did come out of my checking account. They sent the check back except for $70, and they also sent me a check for $14,000 that was addressed to me but not made out to me.
I called and told them that and the woman says "Well don't try cashing it because you'll have bank charges against you." I told her, "You didn't need to tell me that because I knew better not to try to cash that check because I wasn't going to cash it and spend, and then you come looking for me." I was told twice to destroy it. I ripped it up and then I got a letter saying to send the check back, so I had to get it out of the trash, to put together. I was gone last weekend so I have it right here in my possession to send it back after they were gonna stop payment on the check, which I expected them to do. So that kind pissed me off a little bit.

All of the agents have very lacking customer service skills. I can provide names and only spoke with 2 or three agents that seem to actually care over a two year period. I was lied to and told that my BONY mortgage was under review and as long as I made the next three months payments I would be approved for a modification. Then I got turned down due to "Default was not eminent."
Fast forward a year and I contacted them as much as they contacted me for non-payment and I finally have a modification. They have called the police on me saying that I said that I wanted to jump from a tall building, not the case. Again they hear what they want to hear. I get transferred back to customer service all the time, like the start of a new call. They keep their customers in the dark. All they want to do is collect money from you or anyone they can. Nationstar contacted me and asked if I was interested in a refinance on my rental property. I said, "if the numbers looked good I would." I was told not only would I save $100 or so per month but I would also cut 3 years off by going to a 20 year loan. I said, "Great. Let's do it." A year later I received my monthly bill online with an added $500. When I inquired about it, I was told that they didn't figure in the school tax for escrow. As a result, I had to come up with an extra $500 per month for 12 months to catch up. Could you afford that? It was a struggle for me. Were they incompetent? Or did they cook the numbers to get my refi?
After the escrow was caught up, my payment is now $100 more per month than my original payment. During the struggle I had no choice but to use the full grace period. Nationstar would call my employer and me twice a day looking for my payment even after I explained by phone and by email my situation that they put me in. I never missed the grace period but they continued to harass never the less. As a result of your poor business practices I now tell everyone "Nationstar, just say no."

My original bank sold off my servicing to Nationstar and they became my servicing bank for escrow and homeowner insurance. They sent out letters saying I was qualified to refinance and they made an offer that sounded interesting. I had no issues with the person that took my application. However, the mortgage processor was having problems getting the Good Faith Estimate right away. There were also several modifications that had been done and it seemed like I was getting modifications to Good Faith Estimate every other day. But the guidance I received from them was good. They didn't leave me with any questions when I was on the phone with them. More importantly, I was able to get lower interest rates and a shorter term. I've had no problems with them and they seem to be a fine company.

I just signed a million papers before it was done with. I can't really complain and it couldn't have been any better by anybody else. The lady that came out and did all the paperwork was very nice. She went over and explained every detail of every question that was on all of the papers. She did great and couldn't have done a better job. And then the next people on the phone that we talked to were all good. It was time consuming but everything went fine.

My two mortgages were acquired by Nationstar at interest rates of 6.8% & 10%. For YEARS my partner and I paid electronically on the 16th of the month and were NEVER late. My partner and I separated and agreed I would buy him out. I contacted Nationstar to refinance the two loans to one in my name only. Greenlight started the process in December 2014. My credit score was in the mid to high 700's. When they pulled my credit report I was told I had items in dispute on my credit report that were causing an automatic declination with lenders and I needed to have the "DISPUTES" removed. I called and wrote to all three credit bureaus who confirmed there were no items in dispute, only dispute comments and they would remove them. I had written confirmation from all three bureaus.
Nationstar repeatedly pulled my credit reports through CoreLogic I believe (six or seven times) and since CoreLogic didn't get real time reports they were not getting updated information. I asked ** of Greenlight to confirm my assumption that if you're making a large purchase (home or auto) and multiple inquiries are made, that they're looked upon as one inquiry. He confirmed this assumption to be true. Thoroughly disgusted with Greenlight's lack of progress I contacted Capital One who quoted me a rate of 3.75 and I started the process with them. When Capital One went to lock the rate, my score had dropped 30 points due primarily to the excessive amount of times Nationstar pulled my credit report.
Now I'm in the process with Capital One and Nationstar dragged their feet providing CEMA information. Month after month I continued to pay on the 16th of the month. When it looked like we were finally close to a closing I did not make my payment on the 16th. My loan closed on 3/27/15 with Capital One. Nationstar has reported me as 31-59 days late on both loans. I disputed this with the credit bureaus and Nationstar will not change their position. My credit score declined again. How can this "MACHINE" that essentially raped two borrowers at 6.8 & 10% interest rates hurt borrowers who did the right thing??? We were underwater in our home but didn't take advantage like I'm sure tens of thousands if not more did... Have a heart... clean up my credit report!

When our house was rezoned (20 year old house never flood zone before) to require flood insurance. Nationstar was quick to take out back-dated insurance on our behalf changing our loan payment. After that they found every way they could to charge fees. This company is being charge with a Class Action lawsuits. They even have their own website!! I have been trying to get an appraisal to get remove PMI from my mortgage for the last 6 weeks. My loan was sold to Nationstar from Wells Fargo a couple of months after I got it and Nationstar's customer service has been without a doubt the worst I have ever received. I won't rehash or recount all the other horror stories of long holds and totally clueless CSR's. Instead am going to focus on the issue at hand. In a nutshell, I received an inheritance and am planning to pay down my loan to get out of PMI (I put down 10% and have been paying an extra $500 a month in principal for almost 2 years now). Additionally, home values in my neighborhood have gone up about 10-15% since I bought the house so I want to get a new appraisal and pay off the delta between what I owe and the amount to get out of PMI.
So about 6 weeks ago I called and got them to send me a PMI Cancellation form that they said would also trigger an appraisal (which I will pay for, not them). I completed the form and faxed it in and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally a couple of weeks ago I called in to check and see what the status was and they said they never received it -- even though my fax machine confirmed transmittal of the fax to their fax number. So while that rep was on the line, I faxed it again and he said that someone would be in touch in 24-48 hours to schedule the appraisal. And again I wait. No call back, nothing. So after a week, I call again and again they say they've seen nothing and to resend. So again, I refax, get a confirmation of receipt of a successful fax, and am told again that someone would be in touch within 48 hours. And once again, nothing.
So I call today, get routed to a general CSR. She says I need to be rerouted to another group so transfers me, but to the wrong group (Homeowners Insurance). So she transfers me again and I end up with someone who says she'll look into it. After about 15 minutes on hold she comes back and says there's no way I can get out of PMI right now and that I have to get to 75% of loan value to do so. I immediately push back on that -- Texas law clearly states that at 78% of loan a mortgage company MUST cancel PMI -- and correct her and ask why she's giving me bad information (this is actually the 5th time in last 2 years that one of their reps has told me an incorrect PMI cancellation percentage number). She then gets huffy, says she doesn't have to take being called a liar -- which I didn't do -- and says she's transferring me to her supervisor.
I sit on hold for literally 30 more minutes -- the total time on this call was already over an hour -- and finally hang up. That's when I decided to file a complaint. I've had several mortgages in my life, and never has something like getting a payoff or asking for an appraisal been remotely close to the hassle Nationstar has made it. I wish my loan was still with Wells Fargo as at least I could get things done.

The re-fi went fairly smoothly but down the road I realized my insurance (which they demanded that I increase) was not in my impound account. My insurance company had to fax the declaration page to them 4 times in as many months before they finally acknowledged that I did already have a policy in effect and their kind offer to buy me insurance with another company was not necessary. I know my insurance agent and didn't want a policy with a company of their choosing.
My payment is due on the 1st of the month, delinquent on the 16th. I have had automatic billpay through my bank since 2005 when I first took out the loan (with Bank of America who apparently changed hands to Nationstar. I have never been late with a payment. Yesterday, the 8th I received TWO phone calls demanding that I pay on-line immediately. I spoke to two different agents; the first said he would make notes in my account; the 2nd said the only thing I could do is write a letter of Cease and Desist in order to stop the calls. A tornado hit my home on May 5th, 2015. I am insured by State Farm. An adjuster from State Farm came out, and prompt wrote a check out for me. The Check was made to myself and Nationstar Mortgage. I got quotes from a friend at a roofing company, who gave me the quote at wholesale pricing for class 4 shingles (material only). This will reduce my insurance by 28%. He also provided me with the name of his recommended installer, so I can deal with him directly. The prices I received on the quotes by dealing direct, allow me to do both my house, and exterior shop roofs, for just under $8000.00 than what the adjuster allowed for both.
Nationstar will not release any funds back to me, unless I have a signed contract with a roofing contractor, which will cost me 30-40% more for material and labor, yet if I subcontract the job myself (which is what I do for the company for over 30 years, where I work at), I can save a lot of money, get upgraded product, and be able to do additional upgrades to my home such as adding in granite countertops, new stove, and appliances, and still have money left over. Now it is June 6th, I still have a 6'x6' hole where a cottonwood tree from tornado went through the roof (that I have covered with a tarp, but still leaks, and is causing additional damage due to the delay of funding from NationStar Mortgage). If they had released the funds to me when I submitted all my forms, and quotes, I would have had the entire work completed 2 weeks ago.
Instead, I'm still fighting with Nationstar for them to send me the proceeds from my insurance check so I can complete the repairs. I have over 50% equity in my home. My next step on Monday June 8th, will be to secure an attorney for assistance in getting Nationstar to release the funds to me. I submitted the forms and furnished a cashiers check as required for overnight return of my check. Nationstar says it takes 3-5 days to process each time on each check request. They also said they will only release my funds in 1/3's, which makes it impossible to complete any one portion of the project. Upon completion of each portion of work, they also require that at my expense, that they send out a inspector, to whom I have to pay $35.00 each time.
In my line of work, most of my subcontractors expect payment on completion of work performed, not 2-3 weeks later as this is now turning out. They have been far from helpful. I would strongly recommend any person interested in financing with Nationstar, to have fully explained to them on how they handle insurance claim checks from storm damages, prior to them refinancing with this company. They also have no local representation in Oklahoma.

My mortgage was recently sold off to Nationstar, and I just received a letter today 6/3/15 from my insurance company stating that my homeowner's insurance has been cancelled as of 5/31/15! WHAT? I have no insurance on my house right now because Nationstar didn't pay that bill (which is supposed to come out of our escrow account and is built into our payment)?! We've only been a Nationstar customer for two months. We received notification from our old company that our mortgage was being sold to Nationstar during early April 2015. Our May payment was to be made to Nationstar. We waited to receive information (ie new account number, etc) from Nationstar, and when we still hadn't heard/seen anything after May 1st, I looked online where I read that I should use a full social security number when submitting a payment without the account number.
On 5/2/15, I set up a payment through my bank using the address specifically listed for payments on the Nationstar website. A week later, I get a "welcome letter" from Nationstar with my account number (mind you it is a full seven days after the payment was technically due). I then get a letter on or about 5/9/15 informing me that my payment still has not been received. According to my bank, the payment was received by them on 5/5/15. I call and I have to explain again and again that I submitted a payment through online banking/my bank's website (not Nationstar's) and they say that they "cannot find" the payment. And they will have to research where it could be since I didn't have the account number with the payment.
The gentleman assures me that I don't have to worry about having a late fee or negative credit reporting, because any payments received within the first 60 days of the transfer cannot have late fees associated with them (though I am not reassured at all). On 5/13 my bank refunds the payment I made because Nationstar instructed them to return it. I received NO notification whatsoever from them, I just happened to be checking my account frequently and saw the deposit. I immediately resubmitted payment (with the new Nationstar account number now that I had it) so that it would be processed by the 15th, right before the actual cutoff for late payments. Now when I try to access my Nationstar account online to verify the payment posted correctly and without a late fee it says "We cannot verify your information at this time." This feels like a total scam!

On 4/13 I received a letter from Nationstar telling me I did not have sufficient flood insurance and I had 45 days to get the additional coverage they required or they would force place a gap policy. I understood that to mean 45 days from receipt of letter which would be 5/28 as the letter did not specify 45 days from when. I did not agree with the over insurance they were requiring so I told them I was paying them off. My new bank requested and received a payoff amount which we adhered to and they received our check. After the payoff was received Nationstar would not accept it and said we owed an additional $421 because they put gap insurance on the loan on 5/20. Nationstar wanted me to pay a full year policy at payoff after the loan was technically paid off.
Nationstar would not accept payment for 6 days of the policy which I was willing to pay so I requested a copy of the policy they force placed. When I received it, the policy was taken out on 5/20 even though the payoff was requested at that point and the policy was backdated to an arbitrary date of 2/27/15. Nationstar could not explain why as I knew nothing about this until the first correspondence on 4/13. I was never billed for this nor was it escrowed in my monthly payment. Nationstar refuses to accept the payoff so I am stuck with two mortgages. I have no option but to pay them under protest since interest is accruing and at this point it is costing me money everyday this loan is open. I have had several issues through the two years since Bank of America sold them our equity loan.
I believe Nationstar is looking to make some extra money on this payoff since I tried to verify the flood policy and was disconnected by the company 4 times transferred 8 times and couldn't get an explanation as to the arbitrary February date as I have continuously had flood insurance on my property for the past 25 years and they have my policy. I have spent countless hours as has my new banker on the phone with Nationstar and have gotten nowhere. Unfortunately I have no other option right now but to pay them and try to get my money back once this nightmare is over. I strongly urge anyone who might be considering doing business with this company to think twice and go somewhere else.

Nationstar is a horrible company. Constantly losing paperwork, customer service representatives are very rude, and they lie. I have been dealing with them for 4 years. Over the past 4 years they have lost almost every piece of documentation I have sent or paperwork expires before they get to it even if I overnight it. I even tried uploading my paperwork directly to their website and that didn't help. I hope some day this company is exposed for its wrong doing.

I do not trust Nationstar. We have had them as our mortgage company only because they "bought" our loan. They will harass you with phone calls, trying to get you to change your loan, but when you call to talk to them you will be on hold for an hour. They changed our address, and started sending our statements to someone in North Carolina. We live in Colorado... I tried to make a payment over the phone when I realized we had not gotten our bill for the month, and they never received the phone payment.
I have spent two days on the phone with them, and got our address changed BACK TO OUR SAME ADDRESS, and they told me I must have changed it, because no one else can!!! I am SO disgusted. They told me that there is no way to block any account changes other than what they already do. The only recourse I have is to CHANGE MORTGAGE COMPANIES!!! And guess what, I am willing to do that. They are obviously not protecting our financial information, and now we have late fees to pay. I am going to let everyone I know how bad this company is. DO NOT TRUST THEM!

I wanted to let you know that throughout the whole process, we could not get a clear explanation or answer to any of our questions. Sadly, we are still trying to fix some problems. Our house insurance was paid twice and to the policy that was supposed to be cancelled. And now, I called my insurance company and was told that Nationstar cancelled the policy that was to be active. No communication was sent our way regarding this mess and the policy was just cancelled! My escrow account is now negative, even though I had $1,599 dollars in the previous escrow account and cannot get any answers why that amount was not transferred to our new loan.
Your loan consultants need to be educated and knowledgeable and able to clearly answer all questions and not be shuffled around to someone who should be able to help but could not. We were just told that a representative of Nationstar would come to our house and be able to answer all of our questions, but found that she was just a notary and had no answers to any of our questions. We did not want to start over and signed hoping maybe we could speak with someone and get a clear understanding of our fees, etc. finally. We are still waiting for a call back from ** regarding our escrow account from a message left nearly a month ago! Communication is lacking.

I was originally switched to them because my original mortgage company sold my mortgage. No problems. When I tried to refi I felt I was being lied to. First off they will tell you whatever you want to hear, but then I think they all do that. All along I told them I wanted to include my taxes and insurance in the mortgage. Redo the paperwork 3 times. I was also working with another company. Even though the competitor had a 1/4% less interest rate than Nationstar, Nationstar's monthly payment was less. So I went with them. At the end, they told me I had to prepay a years of homeowners insurance. Then they said, "Oh, your taxes are not included". I had to prepay $1500 for escrow. I was screwed, I needed to refi and they had jerked me around, wasted time. I went with them by default. Too much time had passed with the other company. I thought I would have to start all over. Be cautious with anyone.

Nationstar should not be in business... We believe that Nationstar has hired someone to write good reviews for them, as most of the negative reviews are what we have been dealing with. If you have a complaint about Nationstar, and are so unhappy that you would write a complaint on their site... Please contact your "State Department of Finance", they are the ones that govern and oversees the mortgage companies, lenders, collections agencies, etc.
Please file a complaint with them, in detail... Ask them for an investigation at the very least, and hopefully we can file a class action lawsuit. They have and are beating people down, forcing them to give up something they have worked very hard for... and we have been fighting them since they bought our loan from Aurora in 2012... We had to hire an attorney that cost us. We are senior citizens that invested in a property for our retirement... And they are a rip-off company.
They are unlawful, unethical, and you can never talk to the same person twice. Our attorney is the one that referred us to the state. We were approved for a loan modification by Aurora in February 2010, and when Nationstar bought our loan, they wanted us to jump through all the hoops again (which we did). We were told that they bought the loan as is, and couldn't do that, by the state... They (Nationstar) denied us. Our interest rates went up. Our payments went up. They apply our payments to wherever they want to apply them, not to where we designate them on on checks. They charge inaccurate charges if you don't watch and look at your statements.
At the very least, we are looking for people who will step-up and file complaints with their "State Finance Department", so we can get an investigation going... and hopefully a class action lawsuit. Not only are we filing a complaint with the "State", but submitting all documentation, letters, emails, everything we have been dealing with for the past 3-years, our attorney's documentation, etc... Please contact all sites you are on, and all the people you know that have dealt with Nationstar, and let's do something about them. Enough is enough. They are taking advantage of the system, the government, and all of us... and we aren't really doing anything about it but griping where it won't do any good. Nationstar is not a reputable company. They need to be put out of business. Please help!

We are now at the 5 month mark so I think I've provided a fair amount of time to fulfill our request. Background: We requested removal of our Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) in February 2015. I called in March (having never heard back) and they said they didn't have a record of it. So, I resubmitted the form again. They received it (said it was in the system in April). I never heard back so I called again in May. They said we have it and the PMI team would call me back within 72 hours.
It's now been three weeks (June 1). I called back today and they said they don't have the form on file? Meanwhile the whole time I'm paying a PMI fee that should have been removed months ago. Get the picture? If they can continue to collect a junk fee and give you the runaround, they will. Worst financial institution I've dealt with in a long time. And, I'm nowhere nearer the resolution than I was five months ago. If you have PMI, just get ready for the long haul because they won't make it easy on you to get it removed.

We appreciate you informing us of the issue with PMI removal and apologize for the delay you've experienced. Our team is currently reviewing the account and will follow up with a response via email within 7 business days. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

I've been told they don't accept half payments but have been doing this for 2 years - approval by customer service. Got a month behind, but was told by customer service I was "caught up" which I wasn't. Told by another one, I was harming myself by making half payments every two weeks, coz the company puts the money wherever they want it - not towards the actual payment.
Called for a loan mod, got the paperwork on the 26th of May, due by the 31st of May. I called, customer service didn't know, sent me to loan specialist, got a recording saying said "specialist name and number was "accidentally" put on a document sent to thousands of customers. Fall 2014, NationStar bought my mortgage. A full 12+ years, no problems with previous lender. Within 30 days - NationStar charged my account for flood insurance; which the property already had. They stated they were not named insured, therefore they would not remove the fees. After several months working with insurance companies and National Flood Insurance, the change was made to their name for the renewal period - unfortunately, the existing policy did not get changed. To date, they continue to charge me for that policy.
Then, probably because I was such a bear - my account is a total mess. Shows I've paid more than $10k just since Jan 1 - yet, somehow they have me as 2 months behind - folks, my payments are less than $900 a month and this is only May. When try to call, get nothing but runaround. Send messages via their system - they come up missing. Those that don't come up missing rarely get a response. If I get a response - it's "our records are correct." I am more than fed up with this Company. It is without a doubt the very worst lender I ever had the misfortune to work with, and I didn't even get a choice in the matter. P.S. NationStar - don't bother posting your "normal" response to folks complaints - I already know it's nothing more than BS, know that from personal experience.

Where do I start? After I was sold off to Nationstar Mortgage I quickly noticed how dysfunctional this company was. I have always paid additional towards my principal and figured I could do so with Nationstar too. Turns out you have to email them if you want the extra money you sent to go towards your principal instead of them stuffing it into the escrow account. Even after doing this I was told it was put into escrow because of a computer glitch. Yeah right, a computer glitch that is probably making you a nice sum of money by preventing people from paying their loans off early. You're a bank, YOU are not allowed to have computer glitches for any reason, EVER. The website completely sucks. Every single time I log in there is a new bug, or my profile information has to be reupdated OR the entire site is down for maintenance. A bank is not allowed to have website downtime in this day and age.
The current battle I'm engaging in now is to drop my PMI. Right off the bat this the response I got: "Our records indicate that the type of loan you have is not eligible for MIP removal at this time. Once all HUD requirements are met the MIP will automatically be removed. FHA MIP Cancelation Requirements: A thirty (30) year Note must pay MIP for at least five (5) years. Early cancelation of MIP can be requested if the loan has been paid down to 78% LTV with a minimum of five (5) years MIP payments on a thirty (30) year Note. An automatic cancel date is assigned by FHA when premiums are no longer due." They don't even consider that might LTV, after appraisal might be under 78%. Why would they bother telling me that? Our mortgage was bought by Nationstar from Bank of America. We received no bills or letters with account numbers. We ran down the account through BoA and called to pay even though we did not have an account yet. We did not have an account to open on the web and pay through the internet, so proactively we paid the mortgage over the phone before we received account information. They charged a "convenience fee" they said we would not be charged. So they were either going to charge me a late fee if I didn't run down the account myself, or a convenience fee for making contact and doing the right thing.
When I finally received an account letter they had showed an escrow balance of $112 when the same dated ending statement from BoA had escrow balance of $2429. When I finally got access to the website they showed $1188. Both the Bank of America and Nationstar statements were from May 1st. I have tried to contact them by phone and was left on hold and given the run around. I have posted direct through my web account for action and received an email that I would be answered in 1-2 business days, that was 7 days ago. Placed follow up messages wanting answers on both issues (escrow and fees) and still no response.
On June 1st they want another payment and I want the account corrected before making any more payments. Unfortunately by ignoring all inquiries they are positioning to then charge me late fees if I don't pay, even though they are not responding.

NEVER EVER get your mortgage from Nationstar. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Makes cable tv and cell phone companies look like angels. Nationstar bought my parent's mortgage from their previous mortgage company. My parents are elderly (75 years old), so they had set up automatic bill payments with their old mortgage company. When Nationstar took over, they debited the wrong bank account, said it was my parent's error (even though they sent Nationstar a new blank voided check with the correct account and routing #'s), restricted them from making any Online Payments and wouldn't even accept any of the checks that my parent's mailed in. They said to my elderly parents to bring cash to Western Union and wire the payments to them each month. Are you kidding me???
5 months later, their Research?? Dept. still has not fixed the problem nor even bothered to call me nor my parents. I have faxed in bank statements to Nationstar showing that they always had sufficient funds in their bank accounts and a letter from my parent's bank saying the error was made by Nationstar. I don't know where any of that information has gone to since I received no notice that they even received it. It could be floating around in an open office or sitting on top of someone's desk, for all I know. Don't even bother calling their Customer Service line. Their CS reps just do not give a crap. They do not have any discretion to veer off of their script, let alone handle a problem. They actually made my parents pay an extra $19 fee just to make a telephone payment on TOP of their regular mortgage payment each month. TO PAY THEM!!!

The only suggestion I have is when any e-mails are sent to the applicants. They ALWAYS come from Nationstar or their partners. I say this because when I get e-mails with an unknown or unrecognized name, I do not open them. I just delete them.

Nationstar bought my loan. When I refinanced they were nice but they didn't always seem to be organized and didn't always seem to have a plan. My purchase in a subsequent refinance that I got driven into did not go very well. The people were nice, they were courteous, but the process did not go smoothly. On my purchase, they made a significant error in my pre-approval which caused me to need to refinance my other house at the last minute in terms that were very unfavorable to me to be able to complete my purchase. Those are things that they should've been able to tell me on the first day but they did not. They were disorganized and they put me in a bad financial situation based on their lack of planning or communication.

I am so frustrated with the process and how mortgage service companies have nickel and dimed consumers. I believe NationStar has not acted in good faith and has misled me and charged excessive trumped up non verifiable fees. It is my obligation to notify the public and consumers of NationStar's unethical mortgage servicing practices. I intend to provide this information. I believe I was misled, provided intentionally wrong information and NationStar used deceptive practices.

The guys there were great. If I had a problem, all I did was call and leave a message and the agent would call me right back. It was wonderful. They were in contact with me constantly. They sent over whoever it was to sign papers and they were just on top of everything. I don't understand all that stuff and they made it really easy for me.

My original loan was purchased by Nationstar a couple of years ago. It has been great having them service my loan. Easy and clear communication has always been my experience with them. I love that if I make my payment within the first 10 days of the month there is no fee whatsoever. A little thing, but every little bit counts to me. I refinanced via FHA Streamline and Nationstar/Greenlight was terrific throughout the entire process. Highly recommend!

We participated in their Equity Accelerator program and money was drafted from our account weekly to pay our mortgage. Last summer our payment went up and the Equity Accelerator program continued drafting money timely. However Nationstar suspended the account and the money drafted just sat in a hold. They reported us to the credit bureaus as being 30 days late. However they continued to draft money each week and not pay our mortgage. Once we became aware of the situation, we immediately paid the fees and money owed, but the damage was already done to our credit. I have contacted them several times through both phone and USPS, trying to have them correct third reporting to the credit agencies. We are hoping to buy another house soon and this situation is affecting not only our loan rate but also the ability to even secure another home loan despite never having any other late payments on any other account.

Please be advised that Equity Accelerator is a 3rd party company and not part of Nationstar, so they must be notified of any payment changes directly as we're not authroized to make any changes to your account with them. Our team is reviewing your credit history now and will provide a response via email within 5-7 business days. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

They were very professional, accurate, and truthful. They gave me excellent guidance for my refi. It was topnotch. Everything was kind of predetermined and I was given a head's up. I actually paid less out of pocket than what was quoted. I haven't had any bad experience. I like the online experience but the only thing I dislike is that they're a collection agency also, a mortgage collection agency.

Our refinance documents erroneously claim land that was specifically excluded from our refinance agreement. As soon as we saw the error we contacted Nationstar and Greenlight loans. We have been attempting to get a partial release of lien on the land that Nationstar is holding. We have sold the land, but the owners can't move forward until the title is clear. One of the homes is for a young couple with a 14 month old. The wife has bone marrow disease with limited time to live. They want their home for her to rest comfortably and spend time with family. Nationstar has been shuffling us around for 6 weeks and we still do not have our partial release of lien.
According to what we are told locally this falls under the Texas Deceptive Practices Act. We have talked to Customer Service and our original loan office. No one is producing the partial release of lien. We have also been told locally that this document should take 48 hours to produce before we file Texas Deceptive Practices charges. We don't want that. We want a partial release of lien on Tract 2 and Tract 3 which are not part of our loan with Nationstar. CAN ANYONE HELP US PLEASE?

We're sorry to hear about any delays you may be experiencing regarding the partial release. Please reply privately with the property address so we can further assist. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

We refinanced our house 2 years ago through an online refinance company. I am very sorry that we did so. We were assigned to Nationstar Mortgage, and it has been the worst mortgage company we have ever used. Extremely poor communication, tons of fees to do ANYTHING, unfriendly customer service reps, and endless "press 1 for... press 2 for..." phone systems when trying to get anything done.
The biggest problem has been with their Escrow department. They consistently have messed up the calculation for payment to escrow, and then call to collect large amounts of money on the spot to try and make up for their own mistakes. I have used several mortgage companies, and have never had these issues with any of them in the past. I am tired of ever increasing payments on a FIXED interest rate loan, just because they cannot get it together. The consequences are this... Pay them, or they wreck your credit. Any homeowner knows that if you get a ding on your credit with a mortgage company, you're up the creek if you ever want another home loan. These banks should be trustworthy, but this one has lost my trust.

We sincerly apologize for any issues you've experienced since the transfer of your account to Nationstar. Our team is currently reviewing the account in regards to your concerns and will respond via email within 5-7 business days. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team

I was diagnosed with Stage III colorectal cancer in Dec 2014, resulting in surgery, chemotherapy, and much more to come. As a result of this illness, I lost my job and most of my income. I needed a lower mortgage payment to keep a roof over my head. I chose Nationstar to do the refinance because they already hold my mortgage. I entered the process with apprehension and anxiety due to a terrible experience a few years ago, trying to refinance through Quicken Loans. Without going into the gory details, I exited that experience with a true phobia.
Cutting to the chase, Nationstar was everything that other outfit wasn't. Every phone or personal encounter I had with any of Nationstar's agents was very positive. They were all courteous, helpful, honest (I should say that again), and seemed as eager to move the process forward as I was. The result was a timely refinance, a much lower fixed interest rate, a mortgage payment my budget can absorb, and I still have a roof over my head. Thank you, Nationstar.

Nationstar escrowed my taxes and quadrupled my mortgage without proper notice. When I went to make my payment, I called them immediately, and they decided that they would try to resend it and make my payment lower. They advised me to wait to make my payment until it was fixed. After they refused the payment, I immediately paid what they asked for and they unlawfully reported it to the credit bureau as late. I contacted them several times for removal, and had even contacted them for a refinance, and no response. I think they are an awful company. 10 years of paying my mortgage on time, and even when you triple it I still pay it and you report a late payment to the credit bureau after you advised me to wait until you changed the payment amount. Shame on you Nationstar. That is why I am going to the attorney general every day until this is fixed.

I was contacted by Nationstar stating that my current flood insurance was insufficient. My house is 725 sq ft built in 1935 and I have $100,000 replacement coverage on the house, more than sufficient at over $100 per sq ft to rebuild. As per FEMA guidelines that is all that I am required to have. I do not have to carry flood insurance on land value. I have been dealing with them since 2/11/2015 and have submitted the dec page of my insurance numerous times. They are still trying to charge me for the unnecessary supplemental insurance of $1710.64. I was just hung up on while I was hold for a supervisor. I would love to file a class action lawsuit regarding lender placed insurance which is unnecessary. This is ridiculous.
Updated 7/10/2015 - I have been trying to have this issue resolved since January 2015. Nationstar has finally removed the unnecessary insurance on my loan, but still have not credited the additional $319 that was put on my account. I was assured this would be removed. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service and difficulty that I am having with Nationstar. I have always maintained insurance on my property, paid in full. I have provided proof of insurance and as per their request sent proof numerous times. I always pay my mortgage in full but refuse to pay for insurance that was placed on my account unnecessarily. I have tried speaking to supervisors and was told that the $319 would be removed from my account, but it is still there. This has been going on for over 6 months. I find it unacceptable that they are trying to make me pay for something that was their mistake.

We appreciate your feedback regarding the flood insurance requirements. Our team's currently reviewing the account and will provide a response directly via email within 5-7 business days. Thanks! -Nationstar Customer Relations Team
