    As a new customer to Mr. Cooper I am amazed and very pleased with the representatives. Today, I wanted to change the day of the month my mortgage payment is due. I knew I could change it online, but wanted to check if I had enough time before the 1st of the coming month. The representative was extremely helpful, very friendly and knowledgeable. Sure enough I had enough time to change the due date online through their app and moments later receive a confirmation of the change. Now that's how you do it! Thank you so much Mr. Cooper.

    Refinancing with Mr. Cooper lowered the mortgage payment. Initially, I was not trying to finance but Mr. Cooper kept sending me their paperwork then I sat down with my wife and said we should give it a try. The process was fairly easy to go through. Bryan walked us through our options and made it pretty clear. Bryan and Valerie were working together and we had a slight issue with Valerie. My wife didn't like her. My wife was kinda questioning the taxes and Valerie was very rude. But then Bryan got somebody on the phone to explain exactly what was going on with the tax and exactly what we were gonna have to do to correct it.

    I was unemployed since 9/2018 but was able to maintain payments until 4/2019. I called them once or twice a month as a sign of good faith. I spoke with one representative early on and was told that by law I have at least 120 days before my loan goes into foreclosure. I continued to make calls letting them know that I was diligently searching for a job, but I was also told that I could not apply for a loan modification until I had proof of income. By the beginning of July 2019 I called because I wanted to make at least one payment as I had borrowed from family to get that. The rep would not accept it and said they would only accept two payments, and that I should call back when I have two payments.

    I got a job by the end of July and called them on July 24 to tell them that I had a job and would call in for the two payments with my first check. On July 27th, as soon as funds for my first paycheck was deposited I called Mr. Cooper to make the two payments. As of July 27th I had not reached 120 days delinquency but they refused to accept my payment and told me my loan had gone into foreclosure. It seemed as though their only concern was making sure they got to foreclose on my home. What type of collection company refuses to take payments? I was been grossly misguided about my options and this is a serious and tragic event. They don't really care about their customers.

    Updated on 08/14/2019: This is the follow-up on the 1st review and complaint from July 2019, regarding Mr Cooper. Well after posting my consumer report complaint Mr Cooper sold my loan to another Mortgage company a few days ago with my modification totally incomplete. The community manager that replies back on here Laquinte **, was just replying to the complaint!! That's all. Nothing more than that. His attitude was nothing better or professional as some of the reps that get paid to read and reply the same way. "It's under review".

    For four months my modification was under review with false pretenses to be reviewing my request. This company is vindictive and outright Dishonest. I kept ALL RECORDS AND DOCUMENTATION TO PROVIDE TO ANY ATTORNEY WHO LATER GET ENOUGH INDIVIDUALS to stop companies such as this one from benefiting from hard working people. Once again they need to be seriously investigated and restructured, starting from the Top to the bottom. I consider it a tremendous blessing to have been released from their GRIP. I will not be surprised when this company folds.

    Original review: I purchased my home in June 9, 2018 with PUF. In January of 2019 my loan was thrown to Mr. Cooper, at first you get this breakdown letter from Mr. Cooper of where your money is going, Which I felt was ok. Then comes a huge change in my household and drop of income causing me to need a loan modification. Well in 4/2019 I applied for the loan modification here it is almost 8/2019 four months later and NO MODIFICATION!!!! THEY are quick to constantly ask for documents that was already submitted 5+ times and counting. There is never a SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT and ALL OF THE SO CALLED REPS IN TEXAS LOCATION they are trained to say the same thing to the consumer without even researching the info, "It's under review".

    I have found this company to be full of untrained, and some rude individuals, there are a few people that works there who came with PUF. Who was able to explain certain things I was needing and that corrected the underwriters lack of ability to make this a stress free modification. I am now looking into joining the class action suit against these people. They are breaking the HUD guidelines. And feel like they are untouchable. At a true lending company not a Debt Collector, which is what Mr. Cooper is!!! They are debt collectors. Not a loan company.

    I have had loan modification done on my homes in the past with banks, and not once did I have to resubmit info 5+ times nor was I delayed. Mr. Cooper needs a corporate revamping and they need to be investigated on their practices and policy procedures. Underwriters needs to be more concerned with wasting time nitpicking rather than causing undue stress to the homeowners. And get a direct contact number to the underwriters who seem to not want to talk to the homeowners, but they can request items over and over the same thing..ridiculous folks.

    These guys are really good. If not the best, Mr. Cooper is one of the best mortgage companies out there. In the beginning, I was scared because it was like, “Who is this Mr. Cooper?” I was talking with the wife and I was telling her I was not sure whether or not I should trust these people. But somewhere along the line there, I found out that it was like a loan company. Some advertising kept popping up that I decided to shoot an email back then it took off from there. And I mean it took off. These guys don’t mess around.

    A rep initially made a phone call to me and we talked. I told them what I was looking for and he got the wheels rolling. When they said they would have a representative get ahold of me the next day, thank golly, they called the next day. Then it just kept going in leaps and bounds. They owned up to what they said and everything turned out great. I was very happy. I also only dealt with a couple of people. I didn’t deal with 15 people, with somebody shipping me off to one person then another and another, or with waiting, where they would say they would get back to you in a week or two.

    From the time that they called to the time that things were wrapped up was about a two-week process. I also had to strap down the water heater because we're in the earthquake zone and it wasn’t strapped down. So we had to do some work to get things moved out of the way but it didn’t take anything to strap it down. The experience was excellent overall. There was a lot less stress in my life but I had assurance that what they said was gonna be the way it would be and that it was gonna get done. It went like clockwork and I got a cheaper interest rate. They got the job done and they didn’t waste my time. I can't say enough good about my experiences and how everything took off. They did very well.

    My mortgage from Mr. Cooper was refinanced and paid off. I have received a letter from Mr. Cooper that it was paid in full. Fast forward many months later and a collections letter appears in my mail that states I owe a debt to Mr. Cooper. They had not called me or notified me of anything so of course I thought it was a scam. I had to be the one that called Mr. Cooper and jump through hoops to find out that it was an actual collections letter and they reported me to an internal collections. They had a clerical error in the payoff quote and now many months later it is up to me to repay the difference in debt. What an absolute joke and terrible way to run a business. They do not care about customers whatsoever and the fact that a company can come after someone after saying everything is paid in full and the debt good to go is insanity. Errors and mistakes that the company makes, but the burden falls on the customers.

    Mr. Cooper called to tell me about the benefit I would receive for refinancing after a year as a veteran and they took over my original loan with another company. The reps were fantastic. They called me every step of the way and I never had to call them for anything. They always called to check up on what I needed to do and sent me a lot of emails. It was great. I had no issues with the way they did anything. The application and underwriting process was very fast. We started to get done within three weeks and since refinancing with them, I’m paying $80 less a month than I was. It was a wonderful experience with Mr. Cooper.     In June we received notice from Mr. Cooper (our Mortgage Company) that our escrow account showed a shortage and we had to pay it in 1 payment or increase our monthly escrow portion of our mortgage payment. Upon review of the escrow account statements on their own website, there were multiple disbursements and credits, including removal of our "ANNUAL" property tax amount on a "QUARTERLY" basis.

    When we were notified about the shortage, we have had multiple phone conversations with their representatives. One of them they actually called our county with us on the phone and the county stated they had only received the payment at closing in November, and no other payments in February or June, or any overpayments. Even after this, the mortgage company is refusing to credit back our escrow account, stating that since the county has received no overpayment, there is no error on their end, yet never addressing the money taken from our escrow account causing the shortage.

    Mr. Cooper was great. Originally, I was with Bank of America, and I hated them. And I wanted to refinance, but I couldn't for a long time because my house was upside down. It was under water. But once it finally balanced out, I was able to refinance and get away from Bank of America. I remember seeing Mr. Cooper on a show so I decided to give them a call.     We had our loan, and it’s been switched about four times, and we ended up with Mr. Cooper as our last one. And from there, we’ve had nothing but good experience with them. We only had them for about a year prior, but then I refinanced and the process was super simple. I didn’t want a lower payment. I just wanted a lower year. I had a 30-year loan. We had about 25, give or take, years left on our loan. I was gonna go with a 15-year, but then the guy was talking to me and we were discussing what looks better, and what we could do to make it up to that 15 without even having to do the 15. So he walked me through the process and we ended up going with a 20-year loan through Mr. Cooper. We shaved off about six years. And our payment’s a few dollars less a month.

    The reps I worked with at Mr. Cooper were awesome. The first guy we talked to walked me through the whole process. And then when the financial part of it came in, the other guy was awesome, too. Anytime I call, they always return my calls, and I never had any issues with that. The process went so fast that we didn’t have to worry about anything. All in all, Mr. Cooper is the best company that I’ve seen as far as my years being a homeowner. I’ve never had anybody as a mortgage company as good as them.

    I got a phone call from Mr. Cooper and it so happened that at the time, I was thinking about refinancing and things fell into place. I had a good experience with them all the way through from the get-go. I have gotten lower payments with this refinancing and I am comfortable with it. Everything is paid off through my refinancing, so I’m going to pay extra money to my principal and try to get it paid off in the 15 years I wanted to. I also feel like each one of Mr. Cooper's reps put an extra foot forward for me to get the best deal that they possibly could and to see that I was satisfied. They also made sure that I understood everything that was going on.     All calls are allegedly on a recorded line. In Massachusetts the reps are required to provide full name and extension number. I call monthly to check the status of my account. The reps are friendly and I assume provide accurate information. I was recently advised by Jacob ** in the bankruptcy department, the reps condense the documentation of the calls. This "editing" omits necessary information. It is information the homeowner relied on and took as accurate. So if you ask to have the notes from a previous call read, it will never be the actual conversation. This is a huge issue and can cause the homeowner problems if the information was followed and assumed accurate. Unless you can get a court order to have the calls subpoenaed, do not rely on the information provided by the reps who answer the phone - especially if it is important. Ask to be transferred to billing, then to the bankruptcy department before relying on any information.

    I will never use Mr. Cooper again for anything. I was mislead, was not advised of the entire process and all the actual fees. My closing cost jumped $3,000 the evening before closing, they miscalculated fees, would not let me change insurance carriers and we missed our original closing dates. I am very dissatisfied.

My loan manager kept me informed. She kept me updated on everything that was happening. She did not make promises. She just said that we were making a step in the right direction, and that I shouldn't get my hopes up thinking that it was a guarantee because I was applying for it and I saw an ad.     I was informed that Nationstar/Mr. Cooper would be my new mortgage company as of Feb. 1st. I mailed in payment checks to them, but because they received them a few days early, they somehow sent them to a company that has a small 2nd mortgage on one of my homes. They did this without informing me. Then they accused me of being late on payments. They failed to admit they made this mistake. They did not try to help and resolve the mistake the made. Now I am being charged late fees and constantly being harassed by letters and phone calls. I had to spend time on my own to investigate what happened, the company did not offer any help. They took 2 checks made out to Nationstar and let another company cash them. They goofed and now they expect me to pay for their mistakes. Mr. Cooper/Nationstar is the WORST mortgage company I have ever experienced. I think that they are a very dishonest and have terrible customer service.

Low and behold after our mortgage was sold twice in 3 months we landed back with Mr. Cooper. The loan was a no down VA loan. The communication with this company is a complete lie for what they tell you. They tell you always close on time, another complete lie. I have excellent credit and I've already had 5 closing dates and changed the closing cost 3 times making it more money out of pocket, no one calls you back or responds to emails.     My most recent transaction with Mr. Cooper was a refinance, and I had previously been financed with them. They were holding the note on my mortgage. It was easy to follow up and know that the documents are almost already done. We’ve wanted to purchase an additional property. And this refinancing allowed us to take equity out of our home and buy the new property. The original conversation I had with Mr. Cooper's rep was terrific. And they went through just a couple of quick, easy questions, and then, they said, “Listen, we’re gonna have so and so call you back tomorrow.” And that person was terrific. And then, the final person that brought us up to the closing was brand new. She didn’t understand when the closing date was gonna take place. She didn’t understand how much was gonna be due at closing. We had already discussed this with the previous person, and the number she was coming up with were off by bunches of money.

    Then after the closing, we received two separate refund checks. It wasn’t big money, but it was a little here and then a little bit more here. Everybody’s gonna be new and the job got done, so I really can’t be terribly unhappy. But it was a little frustrating every time I talk to her to get a different answer. Other than that, the girl that did our closing was terrific. She was just a contractor from the local area, but she brought the paperwork in and she said, “They didn’t spell the name of the county right.” So, we all had to use pen and ink on the day of closing. I recommend Mr. Cooper. My daughter’s buying a house right now, and I recommended Mr. Cooper to her.

    Mr. Cooper was fabulous. I had CitiMortgage and Mr. Cooper bought my loan from them. Mr. Cooper is very easy to deal with. They sent me information emails and all that stuff. So, when it was time I needed a cash-out refi I said I would start there and see what happens. I’ve refinanced before but I’ve never done a cash-out refi. So, I was kinda nervous about it. I had like 50 billion questions. So, I called for my 50 billion question answer.

    I got Burt, the first day I called. I was at $20,000 left that I owed on my mortgage, and I needed to do some work on the roof. I needed to pay off the bill, and then I needed new flooring and a new fence. So, we talked about that and then Burt just was fabulous. He listened, he gave me suggestions, he made me feel great. He was so very helpful and made me feel so good about my decision. He was talking to me about my decision and making suggestions.

    I had Burt and Barbara and those were the only two I worked with, and they were both so nice and explained everything.     We were on vacation over the 4th of July holiday; I kept receiving calls from Mr. Cooper's automated payment reminder. I would dismiss the request, and I would receive an email directly after I would reject the call stating that they had not received the payment. The calls would not stop until I went through the automated prompts, informing them on when the amount was sent. I called the customer service number and spoke to a gentleman that said that the new policy was to reach out to customers on the 5th of the month if Mr. Cooper had not received the payment. Whoever thought that harassing your customers incentivized them to make their fees should be fired. I am changing mortgage companies even if I have to incur fees for the move.

I work from home on my computer and I keep my phone on silent most of the time while I’m working. She had apparently sent us a text message instead of an email saying that she was running late. And so, we ended up waiting. It took me an extra 30 minutes. So I had to make that time up that day. But that was the only complaint I had with the whole process. I loved that it was very quick.     I had my current mortgage with Mr. Cooper. It was the company that knew me, so it was easy to make the transition for a refinance. Everything was cool with their staff. We had informative discussions. It gave me enough information to make the right decision. The only thing that was disturbing is that I took some equity out when I rewrote my mortgage, and they failed to take into consideration the pre-taxes and so forth and so on that I would have to pay. So, I didn’t get what I wanted from a equity standpoint.

    I just got transferred from UMW to Mr Copper. I just got the mortgage since 5-5 2019. I borrowed 100,000 for the house. I had a good rate of 4% and it was a loan that stayed that way for the next 30 years. The monthly payment is around 500 a month. The old Mortgage UMW said if I wanted to refinance and put 50,000 towards the loan making only 50,000 I owe for same 30 year period same interest rate I have to wait 6 months. By putting 50,000 refinance it would cut my monthly rate almost in half. I could pay off my whole mortgage but That would not leave me with much except for my IRA but the disadvantage of that whatever I draw out I have to report that to the IRS.

    I asked UMW whether if I can refinance and they said I had to go thru my broker. I have 50,000 in a CD that will mature in Oct 2019. I plan to use that for paying the balance I owe. Will Mister Copper refinance for 30 years at 4% at fixed rate for the low amount of 50,000 dollars? I could take that 50,000 and just pay the mortgage however my mortgage would stay the same. May knock off the years of paying of 15 years but the monthly payment would stay the same at 500 dollars. I am a 68 year old man. I may not live for the next 15 more years cause that would put me at the age of 82 years old.

The first time, something happened with the personnel and they sent out another appraiser and things kinda went down from there, and I didn’t get approved. The second time, we had a hurricane here and I had to wait several months and get a roof replaced. Because there was a lot of extensive damage in our city. And the third time, it went real smooth. Everything worked out really well. Everything’s better now. I was able to pay off some bills and get a lower rate.

    I was not happy when I discovered my mortgage company had sold a us 'down the river" to "MR. COOPER." The 1st thing that happens is that your Credit Score takes a hit because it's seen as YOU closing the acct. when in fact, we had no say in the matter. I'm not a Fan of the name Mr. Cooper. Why don't they just call themselves the real name. Cause they want us to feel like we are one big happy family?

    I have not had 1 encounter over the phone that was pleasant. There is always a problem. Was notified via my paper statement my Escrow acct was short and so My Payment would go up Unless I paid the entire shortage in Full. With other mortgages in the past I have always paid the amount in full. I did that right after I rec'd the notice. Thought my payment would stay the same. NO...it did not.

    I paid the shortage on April 8. It is now July 2. My mortgage amount STILL has the additional money divided by 12 as part of my new monthly payment. How many times do I have to call and have them fix it so it is accurate? I was told that a new escrow evaluation SHOULD have been done right after I paid it in full, but it was not. Someone didn't do their job. Still waiting for them to notify me one has been done. I am not going to hold my breath! In the corner of the paper statement it says, "This is your new payment amount if you did not pay it in full or new payment amt if you did pay it in full."

    I used to have my mortgage divided in half and every other Wednesday (when I get paid) they would deducted 1/2 my payment. I was told by an employee that was possible. They would take care of it. So I was happy, until several months later I discovered they were not handling it for me. They farmed it out to a 3rd party who charged me $3.00 every 2 weeks. Once the shock wore off, I called that company and told them. I am braking up w/ you. I will not pay you $3. every 2 weeks for doing something my mortgage company should be handling. You will no longer be charging me for an electronic transaction that costs no money every two weeks!

    On the Mr. Cooper web page, about half way down where you can pay your bill it mentions "Partial Payment" in case you cannot afford to pay it all at once. So I go in every 2 weeks and pay half before the 6th of month & the other half by 15th of month at the latest. If not paid by the 16th/7th?, you will have to pay a late fee.

    Now for some reason this financial institution doesn't seem to know basic math. If you tell me payment is $600. month. and I go in approx 6th and pay $300 and before the late date another $300. That does total my payment but instead of just letting it sit there til the other half shows up, 1st half makes them nervous, they feel the need to put it somewhere!!! So the whole thing gets screwed up!!!

    I could go on and on but I'm sure we all get the picture. I do not look forward to my weekly/monthly phone conversations which can take anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours for someone to answer. They will tell you "experiencing higher call volume than usual, leave your number and we will call you back." Twice, I never did get a call back. I'd love to switch to another company but I will not pay closing fees etc just to get away from Mr. Cooper! Very sad indeed!

    Mr. Cooper is a pretty good company - until you get to the point of paying off the loan. I spent days on the phone for the last two weeks trying to get this done. I was told different things at different points. I finally filed with the CFPB to get an answer. Not knowing what to do I sent in the current payment (not payoff) AS PER THEIR STATEMENT and instead of applying it, they simply put it aside in the account as 'unapplied funds'. In the interim, Mr. C answered the complaint about not being able to get a straight answer on how to payoff the loan or what was even currently due. They answered with one of the three things I was told, saying it was correct, apologized for my being told different things then claimed they 'made no error'. If they made no error why were they apologizing for it?

    Last night, by happenstance I found a copy of a letter for the payoff on their website, including the amount I had already sent, yet they had not applied to the account. It indicated a mailing date of July 1, today being July 2, and the payoff was valid until July 5. Of course there will be no mail on July 4, so I will probably receive it on the day it becomes invalid, on the afternoon of July 5. Not being able to wire a transfer or send a certified check back to them in time either way. A payoff quote good for only 5 days? And if they don't receive it then what do they do? Send it back for a do over because it's a few cents short? In other words, they had the money, knew they had it, but were demanding I pay - again - what they already had, most likely with the payoff date limit already passed by the time I receive the payoff.

    I filed another complaint with the CFPB, I'm concerned that since they did not apply the last amount I sent, yet still wanted me to pay again what they already received, that I'm going to have an extreme hassle getting the other $1900 back that they have of mine. I sent, as per their demand, a wire transfer today for the final amount - including the money I had already sent. I want to see how long it takes these people to get my refund back on the over payment, or if I have to get an attorney to go after the money. At this point I won't ever have anything to say positive about Mr. Cooper.

    Every time there is a rate increase, Mr. Cooper is QUICK to raise my ARM payment. But, if rates go down it takes months to see a decrease. My rate has gone up nearly 2% in the last 18 months. Rates have been steadily falling in 2019. Has my rate gone down? Nope. I reached out to Mr. Cooper through their website a few weeks ago to complain. I never heard back.     Ultimately we were transferred to Mr. Cooper from Bank of America. Mr. Cooper is run all online, without a physical office, in San Antonio, Texas at least. While the experience of completing payments online was easy enough, I did not like the impersonality of this when problems arose, as you never got to speak to some one face to face. I was also disappointed in our loan processor's unfamiliarity with Texas laws resulting in our loss financially. There was no recourse, simply an, "I'm sorry." Again I feel perhaps speaking to someone physically, would move Mr. Cooper employees as professionals to make more sound judgment when handling something as sensitive as money. However since this was not the experience for me and my family, I was left with the conclusion that we simply weren't important or valued by Mr. Cooper as customers.

    I called customer service and stated I was only interested in applying for a HELOC loan. A refinance loan with cash out was suggested to me more than once, which I declined. Theresa from Texas told me that Mr. Cooper does Not do HELOC loans but she would forward my application to an outside company affiliate. My home address in NEW YORK was given and my home value was determined. After giving all information requested a credit check was done and it was confirmed that my scores were excellent.

    After all this Theresa from the Texas office told me that I would not be eligible for a HELOC loan because these loans are Not given in New York. But she would gladly allow me to apply for a refi/cash out loan instead (as a NEW YORK resident). If eligibility is determined by the state applicant resides in this should be mentioned the moment the applicant's address is taken, NOT after a credit check is done. This was very unprofessional and a total waste of time. I initially called Mr. Cooper merely because they are servicing my current mortgage loan (not by choice). If NEW YORK residents can apply for refinance/cash out loans but Not HELOC loans this results in customer's loan servicing needs end up not being satisfied.

    Our mortgage was sold by Citibank to Mr. Cooper 5 years ago. We had no experience with their service team until we paid off our mortgage. The final payoff number was only a few hundred dollars more than our normal monthly payment. We sent in our final check and then received a letter stating the last payment must be a wire transfer or certified check. We understood this if you are paying off a large sum but this seemed a bit ridiculous since we had been loyal for years and the payoff was not much more. We called them and they advised there were no exceptions. They told us they would mail our check back to us. We sent a wire transfer that day. Our BIG mistake was not canceling our check but it would not have mattered since they had already cashed it. 3 months later we are still trying to get back the double payment and have gotten the runaround from multiple individuals. We are considering legal action. This place is terrible. M. **

    We had our mortgage through Pacific Union Financial until this year when Mr.Cooper bought them out. Our account was ready in March when we started making our first payment. I made the first payment through auto draft. I did not notice until April that March's Payment was reversed. I went ahead and sent both payments in and they were both reversed around the sixth of the month. I tried contacting them and they didn't know what was going on and said to contact my bank. I still did not hear anything back and was scolded by a customer service rep for being late on my mortgage when it was their fault.

    May comes around I try to make another auto draft payment and it was reversed again. At this point I was in a loan modification that is still going on back and forth because they have lost my paperwork twice. June rolls around. Someone at Mr. Cooper finally informs me that I can make a wire payment with Moneygram or Western Union. I tried both for several hours online and at physical locations. They did not accept it so I sent the payment in the mail to find out they are sending it back now. I feel like this mortgage company is a scam and they are just trying to make me go into foreclosure because I have 60000 equity in the home.

    My mortgage is with Mr. Cooper so I thought refinancing with them would be easier. They discussed my options clearly and my interaction with them was straightforward. The biggest thing was that they were very responsive when I called. But during the initial phone calls, they're not responsive before you get assigned someone. You just get voicemails and then there's no response. They probably lose a lot of customers because of that. Had my mortgage not been with them, I would not have called them back three times.

    But other than that, it was an easy process. In fact, it was much easier than the prior stuff that I've done with mortgages. I initially did it with Bank of America and there was delay after delay. So everything expired and I had to resubmit and resubmit. At Mr. Cooper, they didn't have to do that. They were quick before the stuff get expired. They stayed on top of it and moved the process along. They called me every couple of days and the process done in two weeks. So it was nice and easy. I would recommend them. We used the refi to go to a shorter mortgage and pay off other bills.

    We saved some more money using the VA loan process and that was why we decided to refinance. With Mr. Cooper, you aren't moved and you don't have to go from this person to this person. I only had to talk to one person and he was super helpful and really nice. He also seemed to have a handle on everything. He was very knowledgeable and I felt really comfortable throughout the process. He was a great communicator too. There was continuous communication and I never felt like they forgot about us. I’m also really impressed with their website. I could go online and check where the process was at at all times. It was excellent. The process also went faster than we thought it would.     My lawyer requested a Pay-off letter through an email 11 days before closing. Mr. Cooper ignored the request forcing me to make a second request for an expedited letter to be able to close on the sale of my property on time for which they charged me $25. I did not have an issue with the policy of paying $25 for expediting a payoff letter but I do have an issue with the forcing me into a situation that I had to pay it because they ignored the initial timely request. For that shoddy treatment I will NEVER do business with Mr. Cooper again.

It had been a few years since our old mortgage and interest was down significantly from that point.     This company is trash. HORRIBLE. No one knows what the heck they are doing. I had a mortgage with another bank, and must have been a sinner in a past life since the first bank sold my mortgage to Mr. Cooper. Worst day of my life. I wound up selling, and getting a simple payoff quote took WEEKS. Even after expressing the urgency of getting a payoff quote before my scheduled closing date, all I got as a response was, "uhhhh, yes, I see in our system you asked for one before, all I can do is submit a request AGAIN." The cherry on top of this fecal sundae - after closing they would not release the lien, and came back a month later finally saying I owed another $3,000 and they would not release the lien until then. Needless to say by this time the new family had already moved in, so what gives??? RUN FAR FAR AWAY. I wouldn't wish working with this company on my worst enemy.

Since they’ve been servicing my loan, I haven’t had any issues with them so I was like, “Why not?” With my refinance, I was able to reduce my debt and my payment went down too because now I don’t have to worry about a PMI. It was also convenient because I really wasn't dealing with stuff. I didn’t have to change my login and password. It can make a world of difference if you just stick with what you have.

    I started the process out with an amazing woman. She was out in Texas and she was very informative. Elizabeth broke things down for me, told me what I could expect and worked with me, like looking for the best deal for me. Even the person who ended up completing the part was very informative.     If you need a modification or anything done, Mr. Cooper is Johnny-on-the-spot. They work with you and they don’t fight you. Their processors, closers and loan officers are in daily contact with you on email. You’re always aware of what is needed, what you received, and what is done. Also, their online portal is excellent. It tells you when a document has been received, viewed, approved and if anything else is outstanding. They are most professional, speedy, courteous, and you’re talking to humans. You’re not pushing buttons. It's absolutely incredible. I chose them over another lender with a lower rate for my mother to refinance with because I know what service and what kind of assistance I can expect if anything happens to my elderly mother. I recommend them and I use them. When I buy my next house, I will be calling Mr. Cooper and I don’t care if they're a higher rate.

    My first mortgage was with another lender and they made it impossible for me to modify my house and my rental property when I was in bankruptcy.     Mr. Cooper was already my existing mortgage company. I wanted a lower interest rate and our refinancing with them went great. But I was displeased that it ended up costing me almost $10,000 to refinance the house and I didn't do a cash out. When I refinanced with my last mortgage before Mr. Cooper, they didn't charge me anything and I took a cash out at that time.     My mortgage was sold to Mr. Cooper. The gentleman whom I was speaking to there noticed that the loan that I was in was an FHA loan and had a pretty high PMI on it. So in talking to him, I was a little concerned that the previous mortgage lender that held my loan and I felt here was something wrong with how they were valuing my home. Mr. Cooper's rep suspected that the value of my home was actually much higher, that I should not have been paying PMI at all. He checked and it was appraised wrong and that there was a $100,000 difference, which is disgusting.

    I did an appraisal through Mr. Cooper and it came back. With the previous mortgage, I think they had it either at 460 or 470. They came back at 560. So I was able to drop PMI, lower my rate, and now I have a much lower mortgage. Overall, I had a pleasant experience during the refi. I'm doing a HELOC right now with another bank and it takes like a week to hear back from them. On the the other hand, if I'm not able to get Mr. Cooper's rep on the phone immediately, he would call me back within the hour. The guidance I received was perfect. If I had not had that conversation with the gentleman that I spoke to, I would probably still be paying a hefty amount per month. Because of Mr. Cooper, I am able to go for this HELOC. So now, I'm able to make some improvements on my home. Everything went as smoothly as possible with them.

    We have a mortgage with Mr. Cooper. All payments have always been made on time. We owe less than 15% of the value of our home. We have a check for slightly over 10000 dollars from our insurance carrier. We have had the check for 2 months. We have had it returned from Mr. Cooper 3 times for our endorsement so we can have it put in escrow. Our paperwork has all been turned in. The contractors have all been paid. Mr Cooper changes our requirements on a whim every time we send something in. I have wasted at least 8 hours on phone calls to them. I would recommend getting a mortgage a brick and mortar location so you can deal with human beings. Worst experience of our lives.

    I have been dealing with National City Mortgage/Mr. Cooper for some time. About 8 months ago my account suddenly went into litigation status. I immediately wanted to know why and no one has helped me. Now, they wont take my payment, I am not allowed to log into their website. My lawyer got involved and she was told that my account has a coding error on it. It has been over 8 months and has not been resolved. I keep reading about how terrible Mr. Cooper is but did not think that was the case till I got to experience it for myself. Also their Facebook page. They delete all the negative comments. There are actually Facebook pages created to show the comments that were deleted on their official one. Changing their name is very interesting. Probably did it so that all of the negative comments about National City Mortgage were erased.

The first guy from Mr. Cooper who called to talk to me about refinancing options was rude so, I hung up on him and told him to lose my number. Then, the second guy didn’t have all the information.     As others have stated, our mortgage was recently sold to Mr. Cooper. We were up to date on our payments at the time but paying a past escrow to our previous company, $200+/mo, in addition to our mortgage, which we continued to do. Fast forward to June and we realized when we logged in to pay that our mortgage had jumped ANOTHER nearly $200. When we called to inquire we were told that after an “escrow analysis” back in April (“Didn’t you get our letter?” NO) they would be escrowing our taxes and insurance. Without our consent or approval, basically forcing us into escrow. We have never opted in to paying escrow. Is this even legal?? Now we’re dangerously close to not being able to make our mortgage payments. In fact, we probably won’t be able, at least not for long. How is that beneficial to either party? Definitely contacting a lawyer and another mortgage company.

    I was amazed and very happy with my experience with Mr. Cooper during a refinance of my mortgage. I was contacted by Mr. Cooper concerning the refinancing of my current mortgage and within hours of speaking with them, I was contacted by the appraisal company and they scheduled someone to do the appraisal that same week. I was amazed with the speed and accurate manner in which they were able to complete the process and the two ladies I dealt with were very professional and helpful during the entire process. They took the time to explain each and every step and answered all my questions with great detail.

    When I first got my loan, Mr. Cooper purchased it for my mortgage. They also called me over and over for a refinance. That was handled pretty well by their reps. There was no problem discussing the loan options and the application process was very quick. The application and underwriting took about two weeks. I also liked that I got a lower rate. It was a straightforward experience. It was easy to deal with them except for a small hiccup.

    When we started the refinancing process, I told them that I was switching companies because I found a better rate. It was a big process and they told me to send over the paperwork and they would handle it for me. I sent over the paperwork and they received it because I have confirmation emails from the loan specialist saying that. But either they went on a vacation or something and forgot about it. Nothing ever got done with it. I ended up paying out to my previous insurance company a renewal fee. That cost me almost $600 a year for Mr. Cooper's mess-up. I'm waiting on them to refund the money.

    I was all in all very, very pleased with how cooperative and professional my loan experience was. The only thing I would have liked to see is a list of what I needed for closure (letters about my retirement etc) BEFORE I packed all the stuff away. I was on a tight deadline.     This process took painfully long. Even pushed back my closing because of their fooling around. Got a woman that barely can speak English dealing in a very critical part of my process. She didn’t even look at half of the stuff she asked me for and lost about 90% of it requiring me to send it multiple times. I was moving across the country and couldn’t even get my printer packed because they kept asking for more and more documents. I thought it would be easier since I’ve been a long time customer of Mr. Cooper and the fact that I just had a refinance done in December- I was sorely mistaken.

    Underwriters don’t even know what a trust balance is - they think it’s a trust fund! I wish I had a trust fund because then I wouldn’t have had to go through all of the grief with them. Even my realtors were baffled at the amount of requests they made and how difficult they made the process. I wish I could move my loan to another company now because Mr. Cooper does NOT deserve any of my hard earned money.

    I used Mr Cooper when they were Nationstar for my first home and things were smooth and I would have recommended them to anyone. Now they lie about rates, fees and mismanage your loan causing delays. When you try to get answers they just stop replying or answer your calls. If you try to contact a manager they just have the loan processor call you back so you never get any resolution. Look at their recent reviews and see how poorly they are treating their customers.

    Now we are a week from closing and they are not going to be able to close on time because they have submitted paperwork to underwriting they was sent a month ago. They have no respect for your time and will make appointments and then not call you or answer when you contact them. Also be aware that any proportional discount they offer will not be honored. I wish I had gone with anyone else. Save yourself time and money and avoid this company. There is no reason to use them these days.

    In January 2019 I was informed by my mortgage Company (Pacific Union) at that time that Nationstar Mortgage, also known as Mr. Cooper would be purchasing and taking over my mortgage paper. I made payments toward my previous mortgage company through January 2019. At that time I was told that I would be receiving information from Mr. Cooper as to my new account number and where to send future payments. I had already sent a payment for February 2019 to my previous mortgage company and then three days later received a notice from Mr. Cooper of my new account number and where to send my payment for February, so to make sure that I paid Mr. Cooper and not my old mortgage company I stop payment on the old mortgage company check and immediately issued a payment to Mr. Cooper for February 2019 which cleared their account on February 8 of 2019.

    Within two months I was receiving delinquency notices from Mr. Cooper via my monthly that I was one month behind even though I had paid February, March, April, and May of 2019. I called customer service at Mr. Cooper and explained that I was not delinquent and that I had made every payment on time to both my previous mortgage company and to Mr. Cooper through May 2019. The customer service rep disagreed with me and told me that I was missing one payment for February. I proceeded to have all of my bank statements copied along with cleared checks copied and sent to this customer service rep at Mr. Cooper. He claims he checked with their accounting department and that I had a nonsufficient fund check from January 2019.

    What they couldn’t understand was that was the stop payment for February and it was stopped on Pacific Union my previous mortgage company. The replacement check to Mr. Cooper arrived on February 8 but the customer service rep could not understand. In the meantime I was re-financing my mortgage to take care of some other obligations and that went through fairly smoothly but I was still being dunned by this customer service rep for what he claims was a delinquency on my previous mortgage.

    I finally had my bank call Mr. Cooper and speak to a different customer service representative and together they verified that every payment was made and it was made on time and I was not delinquent. So for 2 1/2 months I was frustrated and dogged by Mr. Cooper for something that I had not done. They need to train their service representatives so that they are not so inept and know what they’re doing in their job. If I had it to do over again I would not have refinanced with Mr. Cooper but gone to my local bank or credit union for my financing needs.
