    Top tip - if you're financing or refinancing make sure that they won't sell your mortgage. Quicken Loans for example, some credit unions - they keep them. I was with a small loan company who sold my loan to Nationstar who then became Mr Cooper bunch of nitwits. They did a LOT to totally screw up so I will just stick to the most egregious. It was like watching a slow motion trainwreck because I told them at EVERY STAGE what was happening and what was GOING TO HAPPEN and they POOH POOHED me and said that it would not and that they would fix it.

    They assessed escrow insurance for insurance I'd already paid. I showed them proof of insurance. They couldn't remove the escrow, only reduce it by spreading it over more payments. I cancelled the autopay because the payment amount wasn't reduced. I cancelled it via phone and noted the date. I looked online - it was still showing "autopay". I cancelled it there as well and called to express my concerns. They ASSURED me that no autopay would come out of the account at the higher amount. I made the lower payment amount that they said was the correct amount and what do you think happened - double debit in my account and an unauthorized autopay. Overdraft fees.

    I asked for a refund. The refund amount was 1) short, 2) looked odd - didn't match the amounts debited. I indicated IN WRITING to the rep that this was strange and could indicate that the refund was incorrectly credited and that if this was so, the account might not be marked correctly "paid" and could cause it to be past due. I was assured that he double checked (and yes, this was a "supervisor" and that this was not the case and that all would be well). Again, all of this is in writing.

    Fast forward a month. My online account says that my payment is late. Sigh. So predictable. I call. They acknowledge that this is their mistake. The last idiot refunded the payment - not for the month that was double charged - but for one FOUR months EARLIER. WHY?! And didn't I SAY something? Why, yes. I did. Because I am not a moron. Even if I had NOT said something... isn't it YOUR JOB TO CATCH THINGS LIKE THAT?

    They say that they will fix this and will send me a complete transaction ledger in a week showing where all payments have been applied (because I have still paid more than was due and no one is able to explain where this additional money has been applied - to additional principal? to next month's payment? to escrow that I don't need? (I want to see this ledger and now I don't trust you). The date when I am promised this ledger (IN WRITING) comes and goes. Nothing. I ask again. It will take a little more time. More than 2 weeks passes. Still nothing. Now they have stopped responding to emails. We have a "new supervisor" now.

    Also I requested a direct contact name, number, and email for the direct superior of the previous person who CAUSED this trouble (multiple times, in writing) in order to make a complaint. This has been steadfastly ignored. They just pretend I haven't asked and respond to other parts of my emails. But they aren't responding to any emails now. No promised transaction detail has been delivered, long after the 2 weeks have passed. I was told this would not affect my credit as I am not the one who made the error and I did not make any late payments. Guess what I woke up to this morning? My credit monitoring service notified me that I have been reported for late mortgage payments.

    Do a little Google search and join the class action suits against Nationstar / Mr Cooper! Make sure you only communicate with them IN WRITING because you will NEED that backup for when you have to SUE them or document your challenge to your negative credit report. Supervisor my butt. Bunch of incompetents. I TOLD them at every stage what was going to happen and they assured me that it wouldn't - "you're going to autodebit my account!" "No! We won't! Autopay isn't enabled! It's not!" BUT IT WAS. Your refund amount is wrong - "I think you did it wrong and this might make my payment appear late!" "NO, it's right. You will be fine!" IT WASN'T RIGHT! "We will send you a transaction report by X date!" STILL WAITING. "This won't affect my credit right, because it's your fault not mine?" "OF COURSE not, it won't!" BUT IT DID!!

    Do NOT engage with this company on the phone. Back up EVERY convo in writing. REFINANCE if you can. GET a transaction detail if you can. And do NOT start a mortgage with them if you can possibly avoid it. GOOGLE existing lawsuits - your jaw will DROP. Finally - I got a refund from my insurance co. I called them. The idiots at Nationstar PAID them - I didn't need a refund, I had already paid them, I needed Nationstar to remove or lower the damn unnecessary escrow amount on my mortgage payment. IF There is a WAY to SCREW up your account and cost you TIME and MONEY to fix it. THEY WILL FIND IT. STAY AWAY.

    I refinanced my mortgage with Mr. Cooper and the interest rate went down. In calculations of dollars, it was a saving of about $400 to $500. It was also an easy and smooth transaction. Mostly it was the electronic signing, filing and I liked that process. Everything on the front end was explained well, but on the back end, for the closing procedures, that was not explained as well as it was when getting into the program.

    I first started the process to refinance in June of 2019. At the end of August I was going on my 4th application and second appraisal due to errors by team Mr. Cooper. At that point I gave up as it was so stressful and full of mistakes. It wasn't worth the hassle. It was ball drop after ball drop from several people employed by Mr. Cooper. It should've been a no brainer and a simple task for the people that do this for a living as my credit met the requirements and I have equity built up. What a nightmare!!!! Never Again!!!

    2 years into my mortgage Nationstar/Mr. Cooper started putting my escrow payments into my principle for over 1 year and told me I had an escrow deficiency when I questioned why my payment was increasing by over $800 per month. I only found this out because I needed a tax statement for my taxes and realized that I hadn't received and statement so I searched online for their website and created an account. No one called me to inform me or sent me any notifications about this. Someone within the company changed my address so I was no longer getting my monthly statements. I never missed a payment and I always paid early, I also had my payments on autopay because I have a fixed interest rate and my payment amount should not change.

    For 6 months Monday through Friday I was on the phone with someone from the company trying to get them to correct the mistakes they made. During this time period I started to receive foreclosure letters because they said they could not accept partial payments although I never sent in partial payments, they wanted me to send in over $6000 that they put into my principal that was suppose to be put into my escrow. It took over 6 months for them to correct my escrow account, but the way they adjusted the ledger made it appear as though they did not make a mistake, it made it seem as though I had bad payment history.

    To keep from losing my home, I had to borrow money to cover what Nationstar/Mr. Cooper screwed up and refused to fix. This was a very terrifying and stressful experience. I was forced to file bankruptcy to keep my home and cars. Although I filed bankruptcy, they have not stopped with the escrow deficiencies. It seems like every 3 to 6 months they request an increase to the mortgage although I am in Bankruptcy. This has to be the worst and most crooked and corrupt company ever. This has been the worst experience of my life. Their customer service is horrible. It seems like they are more concerned with taking people's homes than letting them pay what was agreed upon. They changed their dba from Nationstar to Mr. Cooper hoping people wouldn't catch on to the scamming they are doing. They need to be investigated for fraud.

    So Mr Cooper has been my mortgage servicing company for more than a year. I am on auto-pay for my mortgage and it never comes out on the same date. Today I received a letter from Mr Cooper saying that my dwelling insurance had lapsed (the funds are escrowed and Mr Cooper is to pay them). When I contacted my insurance agent they stated that the premium had not been paid. I then called Mr Cooper and was told the check has been returned to them without an explanation. A three-way call with Corey at Mr Cooper, myself and my insurance agent was made to find that Mr Cooper had sent the payment to the incorrect PO box, incorrect City and incorrect state. I have found Mr Cooper a poor choice.

    I have been with Mr. Cooper many many years without any issues except this however. Today 9/30 I was notified by mail that my loan had been sold and transferred to a company Select Portfolio Servicing Inc, effective 10/1. Not a mortgage company an inferior company with lots of negative complaints. They charge customers 15.00 fees monthly to pay mortgage via phone and also online. That is 180.00 a year which was not on my note at Mr. Cooper, I am on social security and can not afford the additional fees Portfolio Servicing Inc wants to charge. I contacted Mr. Cooper and I was informed there is nothing they could do. I would have not complained if Mr. Cooper could have transferred me to a bank another mortgage company. Being a senior citizen I find Mr. Cooper failed me. Portfolio Servicing Inc BBB. Customer complaints summary - 331 total complaints in the last 3 years. Of those, 142 complaints were closed in last 12 months.

    After I hit my seventh month of paying our mortgage, I started getting bombarded with the offers of everybody to refinance at a lower rate. Somebody called and I said, "Yeah, sure, tell me about it," and then I started the process. The one thing I didn't get is I wasn't contacted, at least initially, by Mr. Cooper about refinancing. It was some other people that asked about it. Mr. Cooper reached out to me when someone else requested the payoff amount, and that's when Mr. Cooper reached out to me and said, "Hey, what are they putting on the table? If we can beat that, would you be willing just to do it with us?" It was a better deal. Haven't had to refinance my equity. That was just transferred over because it was staying in the same company, and that was a big factor on me being good with that. It went pretty good and didn't need that much stuff, so it went pretty quick.

    The monthly payment was about 300 bucks lower from the initial so it was a pretty significant drop. It would have been lower no matter who I went with, but knowing that staying with Mr. Cooper I didn't have to worry about having to try to get the equity money back into my account. Also, I like their app. It's really user-friendly, and that was something I was bumming about going away from by moving off of Mr. Cooper. It's easy and convenient. I have all the stuff right there.

    Hello to all. Whatever you do in this lifetime do not use Mr. Dooper Nationstar mortgage! You will be making a huge mistake!!!! They will report you late after you have proved the payment was on time. Will not remove negative information from credit report. Company acts like they're the only mortgage company on planet. Bye bye Mr. Dooper. Refinancing with a real mortgage company.

    This company is a total joke! I have had the displeasure of dealing with them for the past several years after our loan was sold off from Bank of America. We have had nothing but problems with Mr. Cooper not post our monthly payment to the correct place..ie..they post it is the principal instead of monthly payment. They have tacked on many late fees for their mistakes! This is totally unacceptable and it happens more often than not. I have even been told that they would extend a one time courtesy of removing the late charge!? WHAT? They have the payment/money long before it is considered late.

    I pay them every month on the 1st without fail via online bill pay. They can't seems to figure out how to post the payment. This is extremely upsetting, stressful and a complete waste of my time to call in every month to get it corrected. Accounts receivable has one job and they can't seem to do it, ever. I would encourage anyone looking for a lender to by pass Mr. Cooper unless you want unnecessary stress and late fees. This company is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to mortgage lenders. Run, don't walk!

    I’ve been with Nationstar for several years until it changes over to Mr. Cooper. I have make monthly payments for 9 years without missing any payments. I got sick and had to do surgery that kept me out of work for a few months. My house is currently in foreclosure status. I applied for modification on 3 occasions and was denied, based on the facts they cannot lower my payments not because I can’t afford to make regular payments. I am currently back at work. They refused to work with me even though I tried to get my loan modified. I told them I will not moved out of my house without the court permission. They seems to care more about money than the customer's interest. Everybody falls on bad time. I would not recommended Mr. Cooper to anyone.

    I am a current customer and Refinanced earlier this year. The title company checked everything online and "cleared me to close" and a few days ago I received a HUGE bill from HUD. The information was not disclosed to me from the title company, they only disclosed one lien and failed to provide FULL DISCLOSURE. I have a family and children under the age of 18 and may be forced to lose my home because of this big mistake. Every time I try to speak to someone from Mr. Cooper, everyone always passes the responsibility to someone else. I am loyal customer and am not being treated that way.

    We were trying to take advantage of lower interest rate and fund a bit of equity out to get rid of high-interest loans. Since our loan was sold to Mr. Cooper, we just went with them to do a refinance at that point and their reps were very good and very knowledgeable. They made the process very easy for me and it was a good experience. I actually did an application twice this year. The first time, we did it for the consolidation of high-interest debts and the interest rates weren’t all that good. The interest rates dropped also, so we opted to pay again and just do an interest rate drop. The first one took a little longer because we had to do an actual appraisal, but the second one took less than a month total from start to finish. And that was expedient based on my experience in the past of buying and selling houses.

    They were very good in keeping in contact with me and they're all online. I could go on and see the status of my loan at any time. And they were usually sending me text and email updates prior to me getting on to the website and checking it myself, so a lot of times I didn't have to go on the website.     I applied for a modification thru Mr. Cooper. I was approved. Mr. Copper send me all the paperwork stating I was approved. Mr. Cooper send me their notary to my house. We signed all the paperwork. Come to find out it’s not a modification that we signed when I still have all the paperwork or says congratulations on your modification. Mr. Cooper is the worst company that I have ever worked with.. On the papers that we sign it stated that amount that we owed. It was going to be pushed to the end of the mortgage.

    Few months after that I file for a chapter 13 which the house was not included in it. Keep in mind I was current with my payments after I file my chapter 13. I sent my August 1, 2019 payment to them thinking it was going to be applied to my August payment. Well they decided to take $1800 to legal fees. They did not notify me. On top of that my fiancé which he is in the mortgage also he sent $6000 to pre-pay our mortgage till December. That money is not nowhere to be found according to them. It’s all legal fees. They are all ripped off.

    I am in chapter 13. Why would you charge me legal fees? 1000 here at 300 here 500 here. They are ridiculous and saying I do not recommend Mr. Cooper. They are terrible. They will take your money and then will make up something outrageous. Today I received Statement for the month they are saying stating in the statement that we were $5000 behind before we started a bankruptcy. That is not true. I have all the paperwork, all the documents, payments recipients and dates it was sent, everything they send me, everything I signed. They are a rip off. Stay away from Mr. Cooper.

    This ordeal begin in April 2019, I contacted Mr. Cooper for a new home loan. Mr. Ben ** was assisting me. He went over my file and issued a prequalification and told me it all looked good but I was going to have to pay some debt off, but he told me it would not be a problem. Then I was verified approval and my application was submitted. Within a few days my loan was approved with conditions. I was sent a list of things to complete which I completed in a day or two. This is when the problems began. I was told that I would need to pay of some debt, but I had plenty of cash on hand from the sale of my home to cover this. Then I waited and waited and nothing, by this time my file was handed over to Nicole ** who assured me my loan was approved she told me it was approved.

    Then they tell me that Equifax could not get my credit file to them for some reason. After weeks of this they tell me they have the problem resolved, and the loan would close and be funded in just a few day's, and then the closing date gets changed because now they tell me I'm not qualified for the loan. A day later I get an email saying it's been worked out and we are good to go. Guess what? Another closing date. Then once again I'm told we need to pay debt off but I had plenty of money to do this. I begin paying debt off - $10,000.00 worth of debt. Once I start doing this all of a sudden my phone calls stop getting answered, and no reply to my emails.

    Now it's September 23, 2019, and I find out from the tax and title office not Mr. Cooper that my loan had been denied. After 5 months of Mr. ** and Ms. ** telling me my loan was approved, and everything was good I find out from a third party I would not be getting a loan for my new home. This company's employees at least the two I dealt with with lie to you about the status of the loan, then when they have no more lies to tell you they just stop all contact. I have gotten loans for other home and this by far was the worst experience I have ever had. The customer service and communication is awful. I would not recommend Mr. Cooper to anyone, and would tell people to stay as far away from them as you can. There were several other issues I had with this company, but the bottom line is this is a shady underhanded company, never again Mr. Cooper. This company should have their license taken away.

I asked them a bunch of questions, running through different numbers based on my rates and then we figured out which rate and time would be best for me.     As a condition of my mortgage I am required to pay monthly escrow amounts for taxes and hazard insurance. Mr. Cooper collects these escrow payments monthly but refuses/fails to make payment of the hazard insurance premium resulting in my insurance company cancelling my policy and leaving my home uninsured. In spite of multiple policy reinstatements and requests for overnight payment of the premium, Mr. Cooper fails to make payment resulting in yet another cancellation of the hazard insurance policy - having my Mortgage Servicing company cause a lapse in coverage is unacceptable, particularly because they have already collected the premiums.

    We wanted to renovate the home and because it's a VA loan, the funding fees were gonna be substantial along with the closing cost. So, we decided to streamline and then we hoped to, in a few months, take out a home equity loan. I called Mr. Cooper and the individual I originally spoke with never returned my phone calls. I had a hard time getting any follow-up, follow through, and closure. There was definitely a communication problem and hopefully, not everyone's experience goes like this because when I was reading the rant, looking for a phone number to get in touch with an actual real person, I was seeing the same thing that I was experiencing. It didn't look like it was just this year nor this quarter. It looked like it had been going on for years.

    I did some research online and found a complaint somebody else had with the phone number attached. I tried the phone number and it just so happened that it was an actual person who answered the line, rather than a recording stating that they were out of the office or they were busy. That individual got me in touch with someone who was amazing. Melinda and Rochelle at that organization are awesome. If it hadn't been for Melinda, things would not have gone as well as they did. She was the one who made this thing happen. She took it by the horns and assigned it to Rochelle and a couple of other individuals and they had it handled in an extremely short amount of time. Once I got with the correct person and someone that would answer their phone and return your phone calls, the process was smooth and fast, and everything happened like it should have. It was great.

    I was kinda frustrated though because I worked hard to get my credit score up and the second person I talked to put a second ding on my credit. That person did not help me and now, instead of one inquiry, I have two. I got so mad that I told them if they hit my credit one more time or if they did not call me back and did not close before my expiration, I would not refinance with them. It would be with someone else. I was completely redoing the loan with another financial institution. Nevertheless, the process was right around the 30-day mark. The last people who handled my loan jumped through hoops and they did everything they could to close it as fast as possible. The company gotta get more of those individuals that push and make it happen.

    We received a notice that our homeowners insurance had expired. Spoke with Joe Flood (insurance provider) and was told that Mr. Cooper has not responded to 2 invoice/payment requests and tends to sit on the money collected for insurance untill the last moment. Is Mr. Cooper not able to make the payments due to bad money management? Is he doing this purposefully so that he needs to provide insurance at a higher cost. Joe Flood said that many of his customers have been having issues with Mr. Cooper over the last few months.

    I called Mr Cooper re a notice that my escrow was short (they blamed it on the previous lender, Seterus) and that my monthly payment was going up $228. I found this to be shockingly high. I am not rich, far from it. After escrow dept explained seterus' mistake, they offered to transfer me to "Matic" to see about possibly lowering my insurance. I said sure. Matic told me Progressive would be a great lender. Quoted some #s that I asked if too low coverage. They told me it was standard. Not really true. I was still interested and they said, "We'll email you the documents to review, then you can sign if agree. We can make effective 9/20/19." We were talking on 9/10/19. I thought great. Enough time to look over before signing up for anything."

    Well, the next day I received a notice that my hazard insurance was paid (yes, not even 24 hours, nothing signed, and what was the 9/20/19 effective date about than??) to ASI, which is part of the Progressive co. (sneaky again - not really progressive). So, I make a few calls - I have to cancel w/ ASI who I never signed with - crazy right? Well wonderful Mr. Cooper - Sharon, in the hazard insurance dept in Atlanta, at mr. cooper, told me Mr cooper has nothing to do with it. That I have to take it up w/ASI. Really? MR. Cooper paid my insurance, Mr. Cooper works with Matic, Mr. Cooper connected me to Matic.

    Topping it all off lovely Ms. Sharon's tone left much to be desired. The people at Mr. Cooper who matter and understand are the customer service staff - they take all the heat. Of course I asked to speak to a manager and Sharon kept me on hold about 5 mins and came back to tell me there was not a manager available. she said my options were to be transferred or take my #. I already spent approximately 3 hours from my work day to get nowhere, so no transfer, thank you. Been down that road and it cost me. Leave my #? Nah, I'm good. Won't hold my breath. So here I am. I can only hope Mr. Cooper improves drastically at least while I have to deal w/them, and hope for everyone's sake that the $ that was paid out gets returned. I will not let this go. That's a fact.

    I was frustrated with the process a little, but generally, refinancing through Mr. Cooper was good. I appreciate them for giving me the chance and the information to reduce my monthly payment. They could have explained the refinancing process more in detail. At the beginning stage, I only got the interest rate and how much I can reduce my monthly payment. Mr. Cooper didn't give me any information about the mortgage's period and the amount of the mortgage. This is my first experience to get refinancing, and I didn't know any information about this process, so I assumed I can keep my previous mortgage contract.

    I thought I already paid them five months just before refinancing, so I could do monthly payment the rest of my previous period of mortgages. I realized I had to retract my mortgage period for 15 years, and that's five months already I paid before. It was not included in the refinancing period of the mortgage. I was frustrated at the last time just before the signup with the newer rate. I was shocked.

    Jason, the mortgage broker, contacted me in the right time. He fixed my misunderstanding and searched for a better contract for me, so, I was pleased. He responded to my questions. At that time, everything was good and I was pleased with the whole process. I received a lower monthly payment, and I can get $6,000 of credit, and I could reduce my monthly payment more, so at that time, I made the decision to sign up. I'm appreciative of Mr. Cooper. They quickly responded and quickly fixed my frustration and misunderstanding.

    When I got mortgages for my home, the whole process was done in person. But this time, every process was done online, and I had limited time for the whole process to get done. So, I had to push every process to get done. I would like to recommend that at least one time, the client should meet the person from Mr. Cooper in person. My frustration come from a miscommunication on the online process.

    We called the Mr. Cooper number and everybody was really great. The name of the main person we were talking to was easy to memorize as well. She was able to answer all the questions that I had along with variances like “What if we did this? What if we did that? What’s needed? What’s not?” It was a really good process with her. I will recommend Mr. Cooper.

    What surprised me in the end was that I didn’t know we had money coming from the deal. When we closed the loan, as I was signing the final paper, I saw we were getting back $2,000, which is cool. I really like that. But I also sort of didn’t need it. I could’ve asked them to put it back into the loan and maybe I could have gotten $10 less per month. But other than that, everything worked out really well.

    I had a 30-year loan before but I never really wanted to wait 30 years. The way I had it was that in 20 years or so, I would pay it off. But my math was off. By doing the refinance and going to 15 years, I can really make sure that I would pay it off in 15 or 20 years. That was mostly just to put everything together in the way it should be. Plus it’s something that we can spare and do so why not?

    Our loan was sold to Mr. Cooper a year or so ago. We are not looking to refinance or get another loan. The website appears to be great for that type of information. However, I just want information on our amortization, so I can see what my current payoff date is (as I've added extra principal payments on a regular basis) and what it would be if I added "x" amount each month, or an extra flat amount like my previous mortgage company (Citimortgage). I have emailed them on several occasions and they keep sending me to a "calculator page" that doesn't seem to give me this information - just a form to fill out. There is no "search" on their website either.

The employees at Mr. Cooper were quick to respond to phone messages and emails either the same day or the next business day depending upon the time of day I had a request. All scheduled appointments for the appraiser from Valutrust Solutions, James ** and the closing agent Henry ** were kept with early arrivals. 2 employees with Mr. Cooper should receive special recognition, Hina ** and Aracely **. These ladies explained all of the details of the refinance without using all of the technical terms of the mortgage industry.

    The only suggestion I have is when a mortgage holder refinances and is currently on the bi-weekly payment plan and is going to continue with the same bank there should be a way of transferring to the new mortgage without having to around the block to get around the corner. Other than that we are happy campers!! Thank you.

    We decided to refinance so we could make some home repairs. We started the process in May so we could make our repairs over the summer. We ended up having to start over with a new application 3 times due to the numerous mistakes. We had to have the appraiser come out 3 times and had to pay for 2 of those visits. By the time everything was completed it was a 3 month process and the summer was over. Now we have to delay our repairs even longer due to the change in the weather and all of the rain.

    We refinanced our home and took some of the equity because we wanted to buy a retirement place. The experience with Mr. Cooper was great and very easy. And we closed on our retirement place yesterday. The mortgage professionals at Mr. Cooper have all been excellent. They are very professional and knowledgeable. The guidance I received when discussing my refinancing options was great too. The rep was very helpful. She explained things to me then she turned it over to the loan officer.

    The only thing that I thought was hysterical was that they came back and wanted a letter explaining what the address in Orlando meant to me. It was my parents' house that they bought in 1970. My parents died in ’02 and I haven’t lived there for 38 years since I’ve been married. I had to write a letter explaining that. With everything going on, I wondered why in the world that popped up in my history. But it was over and done. It was okay. I understand their procedure. They gotta do what they gotta do.

    That aside, everything went smoothly and the young lady who came out to the house to do the notary and finish it was really nice. She was so personable. My daughter was in the kitchen getting ready to cut an avocado and the young lady was watching. She told my daughter that she was doing it wrong and she showed her. She was also a pleasure to do business with. So we’re pretty happy. That was why I went back with Mr. Cooper for the refinance. I had contacted a couple of the other mortgage places just to see what they would say or do. But I had a Citibank mortgage that was sold to Mr. Cooper a few years ago. So I already had them. I said I just gotta stick with them and let them handle it. That's what we did and we were very pleased with them.

    We had the terrible misfortune of having our mortgage sold to Mr. Cooper actually Nationstar, years ago. We set up bi weekly payments on auto pay to pay down our mortgage faster. The company would constantly send us impending late notices and urge us to sign up for auto pay. They would would send us emails, overnight letters, website messages. This company had set up our payments and did seem to know that we were paying every 2 weeks and in fact were paying MORE than what was due every month!!

    NOW try, just TRY calling the customer service if you want a laugh - not if you really need to speak to someone - 888 480 2432. You will be barraged with innumerable ads for disability payments, free gift card scams, I think there was even a ** pill thrown in for good measure. This company is the trashiest POS company that I have ever had to deal with. We are now in the process of refinancing and my number one requirement of our new mortgage will be that they will NOT sell our mortgage to anyone.

    We recently reached out to Mr. Cooper to refinance our existing mortgage. Their communication through email and over the phone is terrible. Early on in the process our mortgage professional emailed me and ask a few questions. I responded to those questions and asked a few of my own. I received a response of "What is your last name?" Later on in the process they emailed us with a few questions on the appraisal. Which were things they wanted us to fix. I responded to the email with very precise answers. The next morning our mortgage professional called my wife and began to ask her the same questions I already answered in the email. She explained to him that I had already responded to the questions he was asking. He told her that he didn't think she understood and that he was going to repeat the question. This person was rude and disrespect to my wife.

    I sent an email stating my concerns and that we were going to look for another company to refinance through and he responded with a very generic corporate response and stated "We will go ahead and cancel the process if that's what you want to do". No apology and no concern with keeping our business. I would not recommend this mortgage company to my worst enemy. We have had a loan through them for over 10 years when they used to be called Nation Star Mortgage. Needless to say we cancelled the refinance process and will look for a company that will treat us with respect and dignity.

    I was surprised how easy it was to refinance with Mr. Cooper. I used to be with Ruoff Mortgage then I was turned over to Mr. Cooper. He made it really easy for me.     It all started when loanDepot sold my loan to Mr Cooper. WOW. Things just got worst and 6 months they couldn't get the paperwork completed and all that time they are charging you for being late and one day just out of the blue I called them and the buy was complete and they just haven't sent out the paperwork yet but I owed them $8500.00 (They are buying my loan from another company).     Forbearance program affects credit negatively. I was recently laid off and I called Mr. Cooper to start a forbearance on my loan. My first call was very frustrating, they told me I was current on my payments and they could not offer me any help. All their assistance programs do not start until you miss a payment. I asked to speak to a manager and finally was informed that they have a forbearance option. The drawback here is that the forbearance plan just keeps you from going into foreclosure. Mr. Cooper still reports your missed payments to credit agencies and at the end of the forbearance period, you owe every missed payment in one lump sum. They will entertain a repayment plan on the lump sum of missed payments but it has to be approved by your actual lender as Mr. Cooper just services the loan.

    This is the very thing I am trying to avoid. I worked very hard to get my credit in its current standing and I have worked with several creditors over the years, to do this. I currently have two other loans and two credit cards that I requested assistance from successfully. All of them processed the request in one 15 minute phone call. Meanwhile, I have spent hours on calls and callbacks only to be told that I have no option that will not affect my credit negatively. This is not a relationship I want to be in. When I am in need of help, I don't expect to be told that I have been too responsible to qualify for help. I have contacted other lenders who offer to move the payments to the back end of the loan. I will be selling my loan as soon as I can get back on my feet.

    I recently refinanced my loan that I had with Mr. Cooper once I closed with Rocket Mort. I got a refund check of only 467.00 with only 212.00 coming from escrow overage. Mind you this is august taxes and insurance due in February so how was I suppose to pay my taxes and insurance in February at a 172.00 a month coming out of my house payment which I had 6 mos. to save and put in escrow. 6 xs 172.00 is 1032.00 plus 212.00 is 1244.00 taxes and in due are over 1700.00. Something not right. I just wonder how long they been stealing from me. Charles.

Although our rate is low, they have held on and, what more, taken care of us.     Mr. Cooper was my original mortgage company and I’ve been with them for four years since I bought my house. Due to the guy who refiled it, the refinancing process was moderately difficult. He didn't return my calls and didn't tell me I didn't need to make a mortgage payment. He kept telling me he needed documents and then, when I would send them, he wouldn’t tell me he received them, or didn't tell me I needed something. I was so unhappy and so pissed off. When I called his boss, she asked him to call me back when it should’ve been her. This guy was unbelievable and I hated him. He made it a miserable experience.

    I made extra payments I didn't have to make so they had to refund me checks. Then, the checks weren’t right so, I called them and asked what happened.     I have had my mortgage with Nationstar/Mr for 4 years. I have never dealt with a company that is so unprofessional. Went through a rough patch and with the help of my lawyer got everything back on track. Everytime I call with a question, either they can't answer, or I get several different answers. It is very disheartening that the company that holds my mortgage is not able to answer simple questions. I was told yesterday 8/31, that my mortgage is behind. How can I be behind when the next payment due is sept 1st? If I had the choice (mortgage was sold to them). I would never do business with Mr. Cooper.

    Beware - they do not share the homeowners' interest. I requested for loan modification after nearly 2 months. They denied the modification due to insufficient income/funds. Talk to their customer representative and realize they have reviewed the wrong income and calculated the wrong amount. I will now have to go through a foreclosure lawyer to make an appeal. After sending them numerous documents their quality review documents are poor and lack to identify the details of the document. Their underwriters have only one goal and that is not to help the home owner and force them to foreclosure. I will make my appeal and show the court how heartless and predatory they can be.

    Very bad customer service. I mailed them a big check to pay additional principal on my loan. They cashed the check, kept the huge money in their bank, then didn't lower my principal balance. I found it out through online status and called them to check. They told me that payoff amount has to be paid by cashier check, so they will return that money with their company check to me, it will be on mail. However, if they cannot accept the check, why did they cash it? Because in this case, they hold my money in their bank, earning interest on it, and also make more interest from me by denying to lower my loan principal - so they can make double interest on my money! I tried to resolve the issue, their customer service was very bad and rude!

    I bought a house in 2018 and within a week of closing it was sold to Chase. This was normal and I expected it but what I did not expect was that about 3-4 months later Chase sold it to Mr. Cooper. My experience with them was about the same as any other time a loan I had was transferred. They sent me all the info in the mail and it was pretty straightforward, everything seemed normal.

    Through no fault of Mr. Cooper, AAA insurance canceled my policy and sent me to collections. I had only gotten AAA because they had quoted me by far the lowest on homeowners insurance. But 3 months after closing I found out they had been insuring the wrong house all along (a house down the street that wasn't even mine) and then when they rewrote the policy my insurance somehow doubled... even though my home was smaller and had less features than the other (fewer fireplaces, bathrooms, etc). I was already frustrated with AAA for screwing up the car insurance I had set up through them to get a bigger discount on the house insurance, but had intended to refinance in a few years and figured I would tough it out with the homeowners until then.

    But AAA screwed that up too, I got the collections letter and called them and they had been billing the first mortgage company, who had the loan not even a full week. When that company (who just expressly offers loans but does not maintain them) did not pay they canceled the policy and it went to collections. They claimed that neither Chase nor Mr. Cooper ever contacted them. I knew right off the bat that was a lie as I had major issues with my car insurance with AAA already with them getting all sorts of documents from me and claiming they didn't then when I would prove they did they would double down and try and find some way to blame me for things.

    True to their nature, AAA doubled down and blamed me for not opening one piece of mail from them telling me they were canceling. I had stopped opening their mail a long time ago as I get 2-3 pieces of junk mail from AAA weekly asking me to upgrade or buy more insurance or a million other things. Why would I open every bit of junk mail to see if it's somehow important when no other insurance company I ever worked with ever had problems with mortgage company changes? It's not even a thought that ever crossed my mind, that my insurance company would find yet another way to massively screw up. When I called to get it reinstated they refused to fix it or rewrite the policy.

    Luckily for me Mr. Cooper turned out to be excellent at customer service. I didn't get to choose who bought my loan but I really lucked out. I called them and explained, the CSR named Frank immediately got a AAA agent on the phone and when they tried the same with him he quickly listed off the exact dates that notification was sent to AAA about them handling the loan. I called Chase as well and they had dates in their records too. At that point AAA agent just stayed silent. It was clear they screwed up and had no cover for it with Mr. Cooper right there on the line giving them dates and evidence. They tried to send me to underwriting again and I informed them that their underwriting had refused to rewrite the policy. AAA was at a loss at that point because they were backed into a corner with Mr. Cooper on the line pointing out their mistakes. I asked Frank to send the amount due to them so I could wash my hands of AAA.

    Frank immediately set up an overnight check and triple checked the address and person to send it to at AAA and then took notes of who we talked to at AAA the date, time, etc. and saved it all to my Mr. Cooper profile. After the check was sent to AAA, I asked Frank what to do as I was at a loss. He referred me to an insurance agency that they partner with and said if I had any issues to have them call Mr. Cooper again and they would explain that the error was on AAA's part and not mine. I called the agency about an hour later and they actually had already been informed of the situation by Mr. Cooper and it was probably the fastest and easiest insurance quote I ever got. They shopped a bunch of different places, sent me the quote to sign and sent it over to Mr. Cooper to get my insurance back into place.

    Mr. Cooper's customer service here was exemplary. I was concerned that I was going to have to struggle with both AAA and my mortgage company to get this fixed. But in fact Mr. Cooper came to my rescue and pretty much fixed it for me. I wish I could give more than 5 stars on this. I also forgot to mention, even though I used their website to pay my bills monthly, I had never really looked around the site. But when I got the collection letter I signed in and looked through all my documents, etc. and Mr. Cooper is also one of the best websites I have ever used. Everything was very easy to access and they had every document I could ever need on there, well laid out in the easiest format I could imagine.

    A lot of other mortgage companies I had in the past don't even put half of this information online and you have to request or they hide it in a giant document somewhere you have to fish things out of. But Mr. Cooper's website is the most helpful website I have ever seen. I could easily see my escrow, how much was in there, where all the previous payments went, how much and when. Everything down the last penny in every document is broken out perfectly for me.

    I requested all documents we gave in on our loss mitigation done with Nationstar in 2008. These documents support a loan pay off that was needed in order to receive approval for a modification with Nationstar. I received a runaround through Nationstar/Mr. Cooper using their research incoming email. I never received a confirmation email and had to call several times to find out that they did receive it and they have 30 days to respond. My inquiry is time sensitive as these documents for the loan pay off was never cleared up! My attorney filed subpoena to retrieve them for me only to be told they don't have them! I have been advised that they are to retain documents.

    My wife and I have been receiving endless refinance and new-mortgage solicitations ever since Mr. Cooper purchased our current mortgage from another institution. We wondered what Mr. Cooper would have to gain from all of the marketing expense to goad us into re-financing with them, since they already held our mortgage. I called their bluff on re-finance options and called them to take advantage of a "lower rate offer".

    After discussions with two different individuals in the refinance department at Mr. Cooper, my wife and I learned the reason behind the incessant paper-mail solicitations: They can make a lot of money from you via expensive closing fees on a re-finance contract. Here are the facts from our situation: They could lower our interest rate by about 1.2% by moving from a 30-year fixed to a 15-year fixed, but we would have to pay many thousands in closing fees. For one of the options, they indicated they might be able to lower our interest rate by about 2% for the 15-year fixed, but closing fees would be nearly $14,000! And that's the take.

    The agents were very friendly and did their best to handle the loan. Was initially impressed but after the loan hit a snag, communications fell very short. Our credit report was showing something that was not accurate and getting over this hurdle was lengthy and painful. We would go long periods of time with no communication what so ever. But it was finally resolved. The real problem began when they told us we would have to pay off an auto loan for the process to continue. We did not have a problem with that. The confusion came when we got the payoff check and it was not for the loan they initially said.

    We had three auto loans out at the time and the one we thought was getting paid off didn't. They paid off another instead. Nowhere in any of the preliminary documents was the name of the auto lender or vehicle listed. The paperwork for the notary was late and didn't come in till around five PM. Because of this the notary had to come to the house late and was in a big hurry. We were not given the opportunity to carefully review all the documents. We had her stop several times to review important documents which she scoffed about. Once the loan was closed and we received the check several days later is when we realized there was a major problem. I did try to resolve this with them but after two and a half months and nobody returning my phone calls I gave up.

    Years ago, my home loan was transferred to Nationstar, then eventually, it changed over to Mr. Cooper. I kept getting flyers from them about lowering rates so I inquired about refinancing my old mortgage. We got a lower rate, but it bothered me that they quoted me 4.1, but then I kept hearing rates of 3 something from Mr. Cooper and other lenders. At this point in time, there's nothing I can do about it. I can understand if the rate on the day that we put the loan in was 4.1 and they guarantee that I will have that rate. But I would think if the Federal Reserve drop a quarter-point and the rates are at 3.6, then it would seem advantageous to tell me they have an even better deal because the rates have dropped rather than keeping me at 4.1.     I want to advise anyone from doing business with this company. I had a mortgage with Citibank and Citibank was bought out by this company. I had auto pay with Citibank. Citibank sent me a letter that after the transition I needed to take no action as everything would remain the same. Fast forward months later. Out of the blue I got a letter from Mr. Cooper stating that I was over $2000 in arrears on my payments. I contacted Mr. Cooper and was advised my account had not been paid on for months. I did not know that my auto pay would not carry over after the transition. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I HAD NEVER BEEN BEHIND ON MY PAYMENTS SINCE I BOUGHT MY HOME WHEN I WAS WITH CITIBANK. The reps from this company say it is the customer’s responsibility to know about the auto pay set ups since this company will not call you if you are late on payments even if you are one month behind so you can correct the error.

    I was told that I had been emailed and had letters sent to me. I don’t remember receiving either of those forms of communication. I had to make the lump sum payment on the spot. Luckily I had money in the bank. I do think this company was trying to schemingly take my home. The end result was an adverse effect on my credit score to top things off. Please use another Mortgage Company to save yourself a lot of heartache. I just feel this company could be more customer friendly. USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR OWN RISK. I would have given a no star rating, but I could not do so.

    I have never dealt with a company where every month I have to call because the payment made on my mortgage is applied incorrectly. Then it takes them weeks to figure it out. The customer service people are useless. They can't see checks written and have to find a supervisor, who is always in a meeting, to pull the copy of the check.     My home mortgage was purchased by a company by the name of Mr. Cooper. Having never heard of the company I did some research. At the time seemed like a decent company. Contacted them everything from my old lender transferred over without issue. Fast, easy, no issues. Fast forward to 7/22/19. I received a statement of termination for my homeowners insurance. I contacted Mr. Copper. Was told the escrow department would look into it. On 8-7-19 they sent a check to American Modern insurance to pay the premium. Problem is the policy was terminated on 7-23-2019. Call Mr. Cooper. Get to the escrow department. They give me some sob excuse about how they "Attempted to contact the ins company to get billing info". I ask them what I should do now. Get this. She suggests I call their ins company to get coverage.... Wonder how many people they suckered into that.

    I get pissed because she is basically telling me I'm on my own and they're not willing to rectify their mistake. She tells me that my insurance was unwilling to reinstate my policy. Sounds like a great company right? I call American Modern insurance. Explain what the issue is. Not only have they heard of this happening they have actually setup a program to help when lenders do this. A 20 min call to American Modern and my policy is reinstated. No fees. No drama. Just we'll help you fix it. That is great customer service.

    If you're the type to stay on top of extra principal payments and you rely on the tools your mortgage company provides to budget and pay down your principal by calculating early payoff, Mr. Cooper is not for you. Otherwise you're probably fine. My mortgage was sold to Mr. Cooper about 6 months ago and I thought it was a scam. After finding out they were legitimate, I was less worried. Their website is easy enough to navigate for making payments, but everything else is poorly executed. They purchased my mortgage from a company that had really solid tools, very good communication, and every bit of information I might want to know about my mortgage available at my fingertips, so my expectations were high.

    I've made extra payments on my principal, but my account still reflects my original maturity date, so all calculators they provide on their site reflect inaccurate information based on my original balance, not my actual balance. When I contacted them about this issue, they sent me a letter stating "In accordance with RESPA, a response will be provided within 30 business days". That was 2 months ago and I have yet to receive a response.

    Statements show how my LAST payment was applied (fine, thanks!), but all FUTURE payments due are broken down between interest/principal together then escrow. You never know how much of your payment is being applied to interest and how much to principal until after the fact. I have requested a copy of my current amortization schedule twice with a response stating (verbatim), "We receive your request regarding amortization and have forwarded to our subordination department for further review." And have yet to receive a copy. Their customer service is lacking and I don't have a lot of confidence in their competence and I'm hoping they sell my mortgage ASAP.

    This has been the worst experience I've ever had dealing with a loan. My loan was sold and that's fine, I get that. I called them to get on bi-weekly payments. It took over 10 phone calls. Several emails and I still can't get set up on bi-weekly payments. They said that I had to be a month ahead, fine I made a payment so I was a month ahead. I've been with Mr. Cooper for less than 3 months. At this point I'm about ready to sell my house just because I don't want to deal with Mr. Cooper ever. If/when I do see my house and purchase another house I can 100% guarantee that my loan will NOT be from Mr. Cooper, and if that loan gets sold to Mr. Cooper I will find another lender.     We have been trying to work on a modification for almost 18 months only to be told over and over "we are not showing we received the paperwork" When I have fax confirmations and even a signed returned receipt with an employee's signature. I am told the person works there BUT, have no idea where the paperwork has gone. NO ONE seems to want to find this or any other paperwork we have sent over and over and now we face a sheriff sale the 10th. Today I was told all the addresses and fax numbers I have are correct but, still "I don't know what to tell you, we don't have it." I scanned and emailed the package on the 26th as told to by a "manager/supervisor" to an address that I was told today is wrong! 3 weeks ago I was told the modification was showing PENDING, today.... "SORRY, not showing we have anything."

    These people do not seem to care that we will lose our home on the 10th if they do not stop it. I was told the correct email today and sent another email. The gentleman I spoke to said he could not PROMISE ANYTHING but, we could "HOPE." HOPE???? This is our home and I have done everything timely as they have ask only to be told they are unable to locate the paperwork. Even given the confirmation dates I have as received. Our, next step is to call the FHA and get an attorney. The business practices of this company are clearly not in the homeowner's best interest but, only to peddle lies and say "they are here to help." NOT.

    My loan was bought by Mr. Cooper this year. They updated my escrow payment, which increased my total loan payment. The problem is they did it on May 10th effective on May, 1st. Since I can't predict future, by that time I've already made my May payment with the old amount. Got a call in June about a late payment and paid the difference. The problem is, May's payment was reported to credit bureaus as late. Talked to multiple reps, including some supervisor, and it wasn't fixed. The supervisor promised a call from his manager, who never called. Worst experience ever.

    I was originally with loanDepot, and my loan was sold off to Mr. Cooper. Being a new homeowner, it was a pretty much a new experience. It wasn’t any dramatic change initially between Mr. Cooper and loanDepot except Mr. Cooper’s website was more accessible. It was more professional looking. I started paying my mortgage online with them then I was contacted by Kevin from Mr. Cooper. He let me know about the IRRRL program for refinancing. Between him and Lashaia and just talking to them back-and-forth, it was a more personable experience. I felt like they were actually trying to help me and look out for me. I really did enjoy these people. Any questions that I had was answered in detail. It was very smooth.

    The whole refinancing moved very quickly and the process was great. I was just so relieved because it did help me financially. I was promised some things though loanDepot that kinda put me in a financial strenuous situation, and being with Mr. Cooper and what they did, it kinda helped ease that burden.     Mr. Cooper acquired the company that had my mortgage. I got an email saying I have a possibility of lowering my interest rate, so I called and looked. And they said right then, I was better than what they could get me. And then they called me back a couple of months later, saying, "Hey, we could probably do something." Their reps were great. They answered all questions before I even had to ask them. If I did have questions, they were able to answer them clearly. Since refinancing my loan, my monthly payment is a little bit more affordable, but it also brought to light other issues that I didn't know had occurred with my homeowner's insurance. So it kinda helped me save money in other areas too.

    We had our mortgage with Mr. Cooper for a few years now and doing a refinance with them was easiest thing to do, so we went with them over other companies. We also did it because we were trying to pay off some bills and my son was going to college. Their process was fast and we didn't have any problems. It took about a week and a half to get everything approved and their reps were friendly and very professional. Our loan helped us pay off some bills and because of it, we don't have to stress about whether we're gonna have money for our son to eat or not. All in all, our experience with Mr. Cooper was great and I have recommended them.

    I previously held a loan with another Mortgage Company and my loan was sold to Mr. Cooper in October of 2018 and it has been the absolute worst. What makes it worst is I didn't sign up for this. My first bill with Mr. Cooper came with a late fee carried over from the previous Mortgage Company that was inaccurate and it literally took 90 days and at least 10 hours of work on my end to finally get it resolved. I'd call Mr. Cooper and they would say it's not their problem and I would call the previous mortgage company and they would tell me there was never any such late fee.

    Needless to say, one month after getting this late fee resolved I start getting letters stating an escrow analysis raising my payment. This happened on 02/22/2019, 05/03/2019, and 08/01/2019. These 3 increases have increased my monthly mortgage payment almost 100 dollars within 9 months. I spent 1 year with the previous company and their escrow analysis never raised my payment more than 2 dollar... I'm hoping and wishing someone would buy my loan again.... And I will consider refinancing with someone other than Mr. Cooper by the end of the year. I'm just feeling exhausted and abused at this point.

    I did a refinance on my house some time ago and Mr. Cooper ended up purchasing my loan or consumed the company that owned my loan. From there, they had my mortgage go with them, then they called me one day and offered the refi to me. They let me know what was going on where I could say what I was dealing with, and it was right for my situation, so I ended up dealing with them on that. I had a great experience with them and I had no issues at all. We had great communication and they gave me a lower interest rate.

    Mr. Cooper bought out my mortgage company, then with less than six months of having them as our new mortgage company, my wife and I did a refinance through them. My wife handled it all and there was no issue with whoever she spoke with. Everything was professional, people were informative, and she had no doubt that it was gonna work out well, and it did. With the money we got from the house, we paid off a bunch of stuff, so there’s less money going out of my pocket. We refinanced at a lower rate, and we cut down the years of the existing mortgage. The payment has gone up a little bit, but in the long run, we're gonna save about $30,000. And if we stayed on schedule, the house would be paid off three years from now.

I asked a lot of questions and the answers I got led me to move forward with the refinance. The reps were knowledgeable and were quick during the process. They were excellent.     In the past year I have tried on numerous occasions to actually speak with someone in the escrow department to no avail and they continue to raise my monthly payment in spite of the fact that I home appraisal has gone down. For the past three years I have overpaid the county taxes and these people continue to increase the tax escrow and raise my monthly note. They ignore the updated appraisals from my county of residence. They base my escrow on an appraised value of over $180,000 when the house is assessed at $138,000. These have got to be the most incompetent people I have ever dealt with and would change mortgages in a heartbeat if I could afford to do so. I would never recommend them to my worst enemy, much less a friend.

    Last year, we were selling our home and buying another one, and somehow, we ended up with Mr. Cooper. They weren’t who we initially financed with. The loan got transferred. We recently refinanced with Mr. Cooper. They called me and said that the rates had went down and we were eligible for refinance. So, we took advantage of it. The refinancing process was as easy as it can get. They called and they already had our basic information, so it wasn’t like there was a whole lot of work to do on that end, and then they took care of everything. We did a few online signatures and when it came time, they sent somebody to our house at a time that was really convenient for us. So, they made it about as easy as it can possibly be. Our experience with Mr. Cooper benefited us because we saved a pretty good bit of money, and we did it early on in the loan. I’ll recommend Mr. Cooper.

    I was told with my original lender that mortgage would be sold to another company right away, which I was fine with. My request to original lender was we wanted bi-weekly payment loan and I was assured new lender would accommodate this request. Mr. Cooper's idea of a biweekly loan is you pay them 50% of the monthly payment and then they hold that money until you pay remaining monthly amount, which does nothing to pay off loan interest earlier, which is the point of biweekly loan. They also wanted to charge a fee for each payment made??? We will be refinancing soon with another company that truly does handle biweekly mortgage loans.
