Because of Jana ** and Sara **, I was able to purchase my home! I cannot Thank both of them enough!! There were times I wanted to give up but due to their encouragement, listening, and positivity, I stuck with search to find my home. This is my first loan with Gateway and was very disappointed when I went online to make a payment and at the end found out I would be charged a $10.00 processing fee. Guess I will go back to paper checks.... like this is less processing than on-line.

We refinanced our last home with Gateway and recently purchased a new home also with Gateway. Jeff ** was our loan officer and was hands down The best loan officer we’ve had. Overall experience has been wonderful! The only downside is after closing, we get an EXCESSIVE amount of junk mail for mortgage insurance etc due to Gateway sharing our information. The same thing happened previously when we refinanced. There is an opt-out form and I called to opt-out, but for their customers sake, this should never happen.

Our team at Gateway gave us excellent customer service. They made the first time home-buying experience much less overwhelming. From the first interaction, Mandy was personable and helpful, as well as competitive without being aggressive like other lenders we considered. Janette was calming and helped us work through all the details quickly, leading to an easy closing that was ready weeks before deadlines. I could not imagine going through this process anywhere else, and they're the only local lender I would recommend.

We're military and we're PCS-ing from Arizona. My sister is a loan officer in Arizona so she did some research for me and put some fillers out and gotten good feedback from Gateway Mortgage. The application process of Gateway was really smooth, easy, and not stressful at all. The application process took a longer period just because we weren’t closing on our house in Arizona for 45 days or so, but they worked with me for about 45 days because that was what we wanted. I appreciated the weekly phone calls to update me. They were really easy to reach and just really pleasant to work with. Gateway made the home buying experience easy and stress-free as possible, so we're happy.

I was buying a home. I applied for a mortgage from Gateway. I’ve used them three times and I’ve had great experience with them every time that I’ve used them, so just decided to use them again. The whole process took about a month. I got preapproved back in January of 2018, and then we just looked for a house for the next 16 months. They did a good job. What was really helpful was their Tuesday calls, just giving an update on where I’m at in the process. My lender was very open to my calls and to my questions. I’d definitely recommend them to other people.

Gateway Mortgage started off brilliant and strong, and they get all your information. The loan processor was awesome. Where we ran into issues was with communication on the back end with the underwriter. She asked for the same multiple things multiple times. It didn’t matter how many times I’ve sent it to her. She kept saying it was wrong even though I’m sending the same thing multiple times. And her communication sucked. At the very end, when I was at the title company getting everything done, there was some fees that weren’t disclosed in her emails that she knew about a week prior to me closing and then didn’t communicate them until I was already at the title place to pay off the down payment money. I was very unhappy with the underwriter. But I believe it was also part of Gateway. Their communication needs to improve because I’m one who plans and has contingency plans for everything.
My biggest frustration with them was the things that they didn’t communicate financially affected me. The way that they didn’t explain the closing cost very clearly, even in the paperwork, was not very clear. I had to call multiple times in order to get any information on what I was actually paying and what was gonna be my portion, which was higher than originally anticipated. Now, again, because I’m a planner, it wasn’t a big deal. I had the money, and it wasn’t anything that was gonna stop me from going through with it.
My problem was I was more prepared than they were. I had everything that they needed. I got preapproved with them, but when it came down to the nitty-gritty, they failed. We did end up closing. But I had to leave the closing to go get the money or for the additional fees that were undisclosed to me prior to me being at the closing process. And what was gonna be my portion of the closing cost, the down payment and all those things were significantly higher than it was originally discussed. They threw it in at the end and raised the price by about $2,500.
Because of the way that they explained it, my earnest money was covering that $2,500 because that was what I put down in earnest on the house and, instead, what had happened was it was $2,500 as the earnest money, and then another 5,000 on top of that as my portion of the down payment, plus the down payment assistance, plus closing cost, which is where the extra $2,500 magically appeared. And I didn’t understand any of that because of how it was communicated originally.
My other complaint is in order to process the loan with Gateway Mortgage, because it was an FHA loan, you have to go through a credit counselling thing, which is another cost that was not explained upfront because you have to pay for that course. And then, when you take that course, it should be taken at the beginning, before you get prequalified. That should be a pre-qualifier because taking it after I’ve already gone prequalified, after I’m already into my last final 10 days of closing, is not when I should be taking quizzes on whether or not I’m prepared for a mortgage. It was good information in there, but that would have been nice to have when I was prequalifying because if anybody is actually serious about buying a house, then they need to have that information at the beginning, so they don’t get stuck in a loan that is not fair to them or improperly serviced. So, Gateway's process is messed up.
There’s nothing they can really do to make it better at this point. I’m gonna pay them the money that we’ve agreed to, but I’m not satisfied with their communication through the homebuying process. I love my house, but the process was beyond frustrating. Even my Realtor has said that she’s not going to refer anybody to them again because of how bad it was.

Gateway Mortgage had good personal interaction and I heard very good reviews of the quality of service. It was my first time obtaining a mortgage and Amber made it pretty easy. I signed in person and the application was pretty quick. Amber was very prompt on anything that I had questions about and getting back to me. She explained everything in full detail to where I would understand it and until I did understand it. She did whatever she could. If I had a problem with something, she looked into it. She's done all around, 100% great job. Gateway Mortgage helped me buy a house and I highly recommend them.

I sold a piece of property and I needed to move back towards McAlester. I needed to buy a home. I applied for a mortgage with Gateway. They were easier to work with compared to other lenders. The process went pretty fast too. I had my 20% down and it took less time to do than getting HUD to get all their stuff together. Gateway Mortgage was ready a month earlier than HUD was. Everybody I dealt with at Gateway was great, as well. They called me every week and they walked me through something. They told me where I was at, what we were waiting for and what we needed to do next. They were very personal. I loved it. They treated me like a person instead of a number. I also liked the rep's eagerness to get a loan through for me. Working with Gateway was great. I've recommended them to two other people I know who are hunting for homes.

Legacy Homes built our house and we went through Gateway Mortgage, their lender, to save a bit of money. Legacy Homes set everything up and got in contact with Gateway. I got in contact with Gateway, presented them with all the information they needed. My rep, Chris, got things done. I gave her the paperwork and she handled everything else from there. We were able to lock in on an interest rate quick and easy. All she needed was confirmation of me doing the loan. Thereafter, I got approved. The process went smooth and fast and everything worked out the way we planned. Overall, I got top-notch service from Gateway. I could not ask for more.

We sold our house and bought another one. My realtor referred me to Tyler from Gateway Mortgage with whom we have worked before. It made the whole process very easy for me. We got a conventional 15-year mortgage through them. The application process was quick and painless. Tyler was always super helpful whenever I'd text or call. He definitely knew the ins and outs of everything I needed to do to get my loan and get my house bought so that there would be no issues or delays. He provided excellent service. All in all, working with Gateway was very painless and it flowed very well for me.

Josh and Zeb from Gateway did a great job. And even though I knew Josh myself, I shopped around, and their rate was a little lower than everybody else’s. Josh just made everything really easy. They pretty much told me step-for-step what I had to do. Everything was easy and simple. Any time I had a question they were available and they knew right off the top of their head what the answer was. Josh and Zeb gave me their personal cell phone numbers. I called Josh 7:00 in the morning, and he answered. Gateway helped out a lot with our first home. I recommended them to one other guy, and he already signed with them.

I was buying a new home and in the neighborhood I bought the house in most of the people use Gateway, and they said that they were great and formal around the customer. So I applied for a mortgage with Gateway and the process was very simple. We drag it out a little bit due to me not being able to leave my lease on my apartment. But the process was not terrible. If I had a question, I could call and say, “Hey, I need help,” and they automatically would help me, or the next day, they would send a response. I worked with Paddi, and she was very knowledgeable with whatever questions I had. And if she did not know, she would find out and give it to me as soon as possible. Working with them didn’t make things stressful.

I would never use this company again! They have never one time assisted when asked and they would rather you foreclose than work with you. I sold my home and they are telling us that we have to pay an additional $200.00 or they will refund our payment to the title company just because they can. No real reason given and the payoff quote mind you came from Gateway not from us. The quote they gave us to show payoff was wrong and they are now telling us that we have to pay this or they will refund the money. Bully if I ever seen one! I would think even if it was our issue when you pay $130,000.00 they could eat the $200.00. Recommendation DON'T USE THIS COMPANY EVER!!!!

My husband and I wanted to purchase a new home, and we got an FHA loan from Gateway. Our lending process went pretty smooth with the lender. It took us about four months to find a place, but he had approved us to go in a month. Gateway Mortgage was good and we're glad we got the mortgage done.

We shopped around and Gateway had better rates and customer service. They told us what the process was and what we had to have to apply for a Gateway mortgage. They gave us all the information how to apply, and they helped us. They answered all our questions. We had a little bit of hang-ups here and there, but the process wasn’t that difficult. It went fine. We have a new home and we're happy.

The person we used in our previous mortgages currently works with Gateway Mortgage and we trusted her with all of our loans. So we used Gateway when we decided to purchase a larger house. It was a pretty smooth and easy process. Our loan officer has always been very helpful and very hands on. She was in constant contact and answered any questions or concerns we had. Gateway got us in the home we wanted.

Our real estate agent referred us to Gateway Mortgage to buy our house and we applied for a first-time homebuyers loan with them. At the time, we kinda looked around a little bit and they had the best rate as well as the lowest interest that we could find that would go with us. Our loan officer, Josh, told us that the process was gonna be really easy and for the first couple of weeks, it was. We just took all of our paperwork and information up there and gave it to them. Then, he ran through the numbers with us and told us what to expect for our payments and how long it would take. He would sit down and explain things to us. He was great and he helped us a lot.
But after a while, I kinda got a little bit disappointed with them because we would take on information and instead of telling us what else we needed at that moment, they would wait two weeks before telling us what they needed to the point where we almost ended up having to push our closing date back because they forgot some of the paperwork. But now, we've got it all settled and it worked out. Everything's good but we had to be on top of things.
Other than that, I like the online application process. It was easy for us to read through their website and it laid things out for us that we could understand the process without having to talk to anybody about it. But the application and underwriting process ended up taking two months and it would have been better if they would have been more on top of things. Communication was a big thing like letting us know what all we needed to have before the day it was due. All in all, it has been an experience but I'm glad that Josh was there. They were all there for us going through all that we went through, so I would use them again.

We got a VA loan from Gateway Mortgage. We filled out the paperwork and talked with some people. Gateway was quick with helping us. Their customer service team emailed us and kept on top of our application. Kathy, the rep who helped us, kept us in the loop the whole time. The application process with Gateway was a little easier than most people explained it to be – with the complication and the headache. It was still mind-boggling but it was good. We were purchasing a new home and I was recommended to Gateway. Somebody gave me their number so I called and went from there. The process took maybe a month and a half.

Gateway Mortgage was the second mortgage company I found. But then, they were the ones that tried helping me out as soon as possible. I went with them and received excellent service. I really appreciated the way they helped me out. They were polite and detailed about everything. The reps explained everything from top to bottom, small letters and everything. A friend of mine in the banking business recommended Gateway to me. Applying with them was a good experience. It was very paperwork intensive. Much more so than I've heard from others. I was dealing with a government-owned home and that made the process much more paperwork heavy than usual. Still, their reps were there to step me through the process. Jill had to go out and get a little bit of education for me as this was the first time that she had done a mortgage on a government-owned home. She was willing to do it and really went above and beyond to make sure that she can pull out all the stops to make sure that we were doing everything correctly. Working with Gateway was a great experience overall. I am so thankful that my home ownership dream has become a reality they're an integral part of that.

I got an FHA from Gateway Mortgage when we needed a house. Their process was easier than other lenders and it was really simple. Their online application process is really good. Also, I called one of the ladies at Gateway and from there, she helped me out with everything. We did everything mostly through email, mostly and their response was very quick. When I had an important question, I’d call them. I had the perfect experience. Other people should go for Gateway.

Getting a mortgage for my house through Gateway was easy and convenient. I spoke with their reps and felt comfortable with Thomas. He was very friendly, helpful, and responsive. When we bought a lake house, we took a conventional loan from Gateway Mortgage. We were told by our Realtor that the loan officer, Todd, was very lowkey and that his office manager, Kathy, was very knowledgeable. When people refer me to someone and speak very glowingly of that someone, I tend to listen. And they were excellent to work with. The process of obtaining the mortgage was very easy. They spelled out exactly what we needed. Plus, according to my wife, a child could do Gateway's online application process. It's very easy to navigate and it's not like you had to do a lot of dropdowns.
I gave Kathy a hug at the loan closing. That was how much she was in contact with us when she needed to be. My wife is a school teacher and very hard to get ahold of her during the day. They worked with us so that everything would fit into our schedule. My wife and I both work during the week. They had the loan closing set up to be on Saturday and they allowed enough time for us to be able to drive from Kansas City down to where the closing was, about three hours away.
We had a wonderful experience with Gateway. It was, by far, the easiest home loan that we've ever had and we've purchased five homes now. We have our primary residence's home loan with another bank and we closed on that loan during the first part of July of 2018. It was the worst experience I've ever come across. Right now, I'm in the process of talking to Todd about possibly moving our home loan to Gateway. Working with them has restored my faith in a lending company. I would recommend them to anyone.

Gateway Mortgage financed my house originally so I chose them to refinance my home to get a lower interest rate and a lower payment. I did get my payment lowered and a lower interest rate but I was promised things that didn’t happen. My experience with them sucks. I was supposed to get March and April with no payments. Then, they sent me a statement saying that I owed nothing in April, but it was for my old loan. They called me last week and said that I was delinquent on a payment. I told them I got a bill from them saying that I don’t owe anything for April. They said they will have to check on it but when I called, they did not call me back.
By the time I got ahold of them, I figured out there was something wrong because I had two bills with different account numbers. I told them that it was their problem. I was told to send them the piece of paper which I did but I still never heard anything from them. So, I had to make last month’s payment and this month’s payment within a week period. I was not happy at all. This happened last week and they never called me back. I even had the guy’s name and left a message. I talked to this girl who said that there was nothing they could do. They sent me the bill and there’s gotta be something they could do. When I get a bill, I look at it but I do not have account numbers memorized. I asked the rep if I gotta make a payment to which she replied that they will waive the late fees which were 28 bucks.
So, I gotta come up with two grand in five days and that ain’t right. They wouldn’t call me back and wouldn’t work with me. So, I had to take money out of my savings account to make two payments. I did it less the late fee because I sure wouldn’t gonna pay it except if they sent me something that said I didn’t owe any money anyway. I’m not happy with the closing because I was supposed to get $1,700 back on closing. It was what the agent told me but I got 1,000 back. I got one month with no payments because the paperwork ran too long in February, so I had to pay February coming up to March. So, I missed out of one free month’s. It was what was promised, but it wasn’t on the contract. They are going by the contract.
I told them that they all need to make sure that when they are doing a loan refinance, I don’t send anything out with the old loan up as it is dead long before they sent me the bill. So, why did they send me a bill for zero on my old loan number? I thought it was the new loan because I was due for two months. I’m not happy with Gateway at all and I’ll get away from them as soon as I get the opportunity. I told them that I’m gonna go somewhere and get refinanced again. They never called me back. The whole application process took a couple of months from beginning to closing and it was difficult too because of their computer program. I had to do it on the phone because I don’t have a computer and it is very impossible to read the stuff on the phone. Gateway should quit relying on computers so much because not everybody got one. Also, I can’t do it at work and then they’re closed. So, I’m having to do it on my own.

On our second loan with them. We enjoyed the process, and we are extremely happy with the staff in the initial process. Then comes normal customer service.... nothing to write home about. One time, we were paying extra principal. Much to my irritation, there was a $10 charge. WHAT? Ok so now we send it snail mail. What a pain. This last time I sent $1600 electronically thru CHASE. Sent on April 17. Still haven't seen it applied. I called them on April 29...10 minutes with no human. Tried other number...another 10 minutes, no human. Sent them an email. April 29, still haven't heard anything. About 1- 1/2 hour to May 1st, MILDLY irritated. Doubt we will ever use them again in the future.

My Realtor recommended Lisa. We decided to reach out to her and she was fantastic. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. She walked us through the materials that we needed. We were first time home buyers and she had us understand the process, what everything was there for, what was needed, and what timelines we needed. Anytime we had a question, she was always there to answer our questions and was more than willing to explain things, as long as it took.
On Gateway's side, we didn't have any issue with closing. However, on the seller's side, we had some negotiating. The whole process from when they accepted our offer until we closed was just around three months. At the very last minute, we had to adjust the downpayment rate that we were going to give because of some needed work in the home that was discovered during the final inspection. Lisa jumped did everything she could to make sure that closing wasn't delayed any further. We really appreciate her help. If everyone in Gateway is like her, then they are on the right track to helping people in getting a home.

I was buying a home, and I was referred to Gateway. I found my loan officer through a friend, my financial advisor, and my mortgage broker managed everything. I had an outstanding experience with the rep that I was working with at Gateway. She was very timely, and she was willing to work on weekends and after hours, so she was incredibly available. I went with Gateway's conventional type of loan, and the process was steady and consistent. But near the end, although we had already been approved for a loan with them, it seemed as if Gateway was asking for more documentation than we thought was necessary. Our second submittal was an unusually high amount of documentation that was needed, especially since we were bringing 20% to the table. I would have liked to have seen a reduction in documentation. Still, overall, my experience with Gateway was pleasant. I was able to buy a home, and now I’m a homeowner.

I was going with Wells Fargo and my realtor was saying that I should go with a local lender. She made the set up for me with Gateway Mortgage. The agent that served me there was right on it. If anything changed or popped up, he always alerted me. I wished I could have gotten a lower interest rate but I can’t have everything you want. I’m a veteran and once they checked my credit score, the VA stood for the rest. Once my paperwork was submitted, it went through its own process. It was just a matter of time and it was done. Then I was told by one of the representatives that my loan was approved and what were some of the things that I would have to pay and that was it. I would recommend the Gateway Mortgage agent that I dealt with.

I needed to buy a house and I was a first-time home buyer. I had the house picked out already, so I told my realtor what I wanted to see and put in an offer the next day. The mortgage processing through Gateway was good and they worked well with me. Their rep Stacy worked hard and for long hours, and if I had any questions or concerns, they were answered promptly. I closed in 30 days after putting in an offer. Stacy worked around the clock to make sure that everything was getting done in a timely manner. I've already recommended her to my co-worker, who is in the process of working on a loan now. I've also recommended her to another realtor as well as a loan company to work through.

My realtor recommended Gateway Mortgage to me for my new home purchase. I got a conventional loan from them. Their rep Jill helped out a whole bunch and she made sure I knew everything as it was going on. We were done with everything two months before we closed and there are just some stuff at the end that we had to tie up. Jill was on top of things the entire time. I got a mortgage from Gateway after a realtor recommended them. The process of doing that, however, was a terrible experience. The process itself was very detail-oriented and they weren't efficient at communicating. Basically, I was told numerous times a week for a couple of weeks straight that the thing they were asking me would be the last piece of information they would be needing. That, of course, opened up a whole new wave of things that they needed. Day after day, week after week, they come up with new information that doesn't jive with whatever the underwriter wanted. Even down to the week of closing, they were still asking for more information.
I was told that we could close early, before I would go on my trip, but that didn't happen. So I was dealing with everything when I was in China and Thailand. It was not a good experience. It was very stressful. Gateway should figure out how they communicate with whoever is selling the loan and whoever is underwriting more clearly in-house so that it's not continually on the borrower. Also, I talked to numerous other companies as well as the accountants with the title company and they were all shocked at how deep Gateway had to go prove I was qualified. I bought a house 18 months ago and the process was seamless, simple, and I had no issues. I would not recommend Gateway to another home buyer if he or she is someone I personally care for.

I am a veteran and I wanted to take advantage of the VA home loan to purchase my first house. My co-worker went through Gateway Mortgage to get her home loan in this area and she said that it was good. Although the application was a bit stressful, it was nothing that was so overwhelming. There were a couple of times where it was a little disturbing because I was told that it might take weeks but I called the other side where the underwriters were waiting for documentation and I got it expedited. It only took a week and Gateway definitely helped along with providing me phone numbers to call for verification, what kind of forms that they needed and documentation.
The VA home loan is a little more particular as far as the underwriting, so they had a weekly update in the beginning and as we got closer and closer to closing, they worked with me almost on an everyday basis, which was cool. An itemized list of forms, paperwork and documentation should have been provided at the beginning though to make it easier for me because then I could've been more prepared on who I was gonna call and what I was gonna get. But it was still done in a really timely fashion. Gateway Mortgage was phenomenal. It was a stressful time and there were pages and pages of paperwork but the fact that they would take my phone calls and they would respond with me via text messages when I was at work was handy. If I'm not at my phone, I don't have to try to find the time to listen to a voicemail. I'm able to look at a text message quickly and then respond accordingly. That was above and beyond.
The company’s reps were personable, super professional and they have a nice building. The rep I worked with, Aaron, took the time to call me and discuss my loan process before it was even at the underwriting process when he was out-of-town on a personal matter. At first, I felt bad when he mentioned that but he told me that it was totally fine. He also would contact me on a Sunday which was amazing. I'd recommend Gateway Mortgage to friends and families. Working with this company got me in a house and I'm a homeowner now.

We bought a rental property as an investment and turned to Gateway for our mortgage. I have a very good relationship with the mortgage lender, Stephanie. As a real estate agent, I was very familiar with the process and I do a lot of business with her. I talk to her on a daily basis. She is a hard-worker and she answers the phone night and day. She's also very detailed about everything and things are explained very well. I will always go through Stephanie for any home loan in the future, as long as she's at Gateway. It was my second time buying a house and Gateway Mortgage got recommended to me by the girl who helped me in buying the house. She wanted me to get with Candy, the loan officer, so I got a hold of her. She was really nice and I didn’t wanna make any changes after that. The online application was very easy and I got approved quickly. Candy was the one who helped me out and it was a good experience. Every time I called her cellphone, she was able to help me out on any questions and she was always there to give me an advice, so she did a great job.
When I was working on the process, it was really easy to call and really easy to get a hold of someone. It took me a couple of weeks to complete the application and get it done and closed. I was able to sell my house in a month and a half and I was already approved to buy another house. I liked Gateway. It was a good environment and I hope that I can get ahead of this one. I would definitely consider Gateway for the one helping us out again.

I was in the market to get a house with my wife and she knows somebody from Gateway so we went with them. The mortgage was for a new home purchase and the process was very easy. The online application process took a total of 30 minutes. I worked with Jeffrey and he was very responsive. He was informative and let me know of any updates that were going on throughout the week. I came across Gateway Mortgage through our realtor. She highly recommended them and Mike, whom she just worked with in the past. She highly suggested him, so we went with him, and everything was awesome. He did a great job explaining everything and walking us through the whole process. He expedited it for us because we were on a bit of a timeline.
We did a conventional loan program. We just had to set up some initial info and do the credit check. One of the coolest parts for me was that it was all digital, so I didn’t have to fax in anything. I could just upload it to the portal that they have and it ended up linking bank accounts. One of the things that we’ve done in previous loans was I would print out a bank statement, then a couple of months later, the same people would come back and say that they need the bank statement. It got super repetitive and annoying, but I didn’t have to do any of that with Gateway. They were on top of it all and the portal really helped out. It was the smoothest mortgage process that I have ever been a part of
The loan officer rode that balance between being super helpful and being super annoying and pressing like, “Hey, just touching base, touching base.” I didn’t get a million and a half emails, but he was always available when I had a question. Anytime he needed to do some digging, he got back to me within a super short period of time. It was very evident that anytime he needed to dig for something, it wasn’t like, “Yeah, I’ll definitely dig for that,” and then I had to track him down a week and a half later. He was very obvious and he would say he was gonna get it done, and he did it in a very timely manner. He was super polite and was a really nice guy. He was very knowledgeable about what it was that he was doing. I couldn’t recommend him more.
I would tell others to consider going through Gateway for a loan. They handled everything very well and very professionally. This is the third loan that we’ve done. The first one we did was with a little branch in a small town that we lived in and the most recent one that we did in North Carolina was with Wells Fargo, and it was a freaking nightmare. Gateway blew my mind. I never realized that a mortgage loan process could be as easy as it was until we went with them. I would tell somebody, “110%, go with them.” I’ve already referred Mike to a couple of friends in the DFW area that are looking to buy a home as well.

My realtor recommended Gateway to us and they were really helpful. I did the process online and I gave whatever information Blair needed. He was able to answer a lot of questions since I'd never done this before. He gave me his personal cellphone number so if I had any other extra question, I could call him after-hours. I was a Loan Officer for another Lender and they did not process my loan app in time for me to put an offer on a home in Boise. I later found out that they did not have enough manpower for employee loans. I was referred by a former coworker to contact Tobby **. and he was transitioning to Gateway Mortgage as Branch Manager in Meridian, ID from another Lender. Jason **. (Regional Manager) and Tobby **. took great care of me. They provided my pre-qual letter within 24 hours. They knew I was short on time and they stepped up to assist me. We were buying our first home, and we got a RD loan from Gateway Mortgage. Everybody told me that buying a house was a nightmare, but their process was easier than buying a car, and it was streamlined. Our realtor referred us to Gateway. I called him and he did the initial credit check. After that we were approved for a certain amount and we started the paperwork.
Their application and closing process took 30 days. The representatives were very quick to get the process going. They were genuinely interested in helping get us the loan to get us moving down the road. If we have a concern about anything, they would do the interaction for us, then they would contact us and tell me what's going on. If we didn’t agree or they didn’t agree, they would speak on our behalf and make sure that it was fair and honest. The loan officer was very pleasant and there was always a prompt response. If we had questions, they were always quick to call us back or explain stuff to us. I would use Gateway again. I have recommended them to some of my family already. I would tell to friends of mine that Gateway will work with them and that they had their best interest at heart.

We had worked with a large mortgage company for over 5 months. We always got the runaround when we called with questions, never got straight answers and never knew who to talk to about what. We purchased investment properties and I’ve used Grant before, so when we were buying a house, we applied for a mortgage with Gateway. Grant is the guy that always does my stuff. He’s very knowledgeable and he keeps me updated on everything that’s going on. It has always been a very smooth process, and the amount of time that it takes is reasonable. However, there was a glitch in the system because I uploaded all my docs and then when they called me to tell me that I was approved, they still asked me to resend all of the docs. But that was not a big deal. The process was fine. I worked with Katie and she was good, too. She got everything done and handled in a timely manner. I went to the Washington loan class and the guy from Gateway was really helpful, so I went with him. He was very responsive and he answered me when I needed assistance or questions. I got a lot of pushback from the processor though, and I didn’t like that. I’m personally in the business, so I know how things run, and so there were just certain things in that aspect where I know we could have pushed through. And we had to sit and wait at last minute, and that was from the advice of the processor. I told the loan officer to push it through anyway, and we did, and then we finally got an approval, but we had to sit for a week on it. The process took a month and half. It was longer than it should have. But overall, it was a good experience.

We went through a conventional loan with Gateway. It was for a new home purchase and my realtor recommended them. Obtaining the mortgage was very easy and our lending agent, Brooke, made everything simple over email. I was able to print everything that I needed to get a hard signature off and just gave it to her. It was pretty effortless on my part.
All requirements were clearly stated and the application process was seamless. I had never gone through that process before, so Brooke really helped us walk through every step with a lot of information and put it in layman’s terms. She really made it super easy and stress-free. And I really enjoy my experience with her. It took a little under a month from the time that we started the process to when we closed on the house. That was the timeline that we both agreed on through my finances. It could have even been shorter than that, but I needed it to be a little bit that length. We are in our first house and that's very exciting. We wouldn't have been able to do that without Gateway and I would definitely recommend them to anybody.

Gateway's online application process was really simple, clear-cut and easy. Jeff was a very energetic young man, and he was the only person I've really dealt with at Gateway. When someone talks to you, you can tell if they're trying to sell a bill of goods, but that wasn’t the case for him. He was really good and very professional, and he followed up. The office is right at the border between Boise and Meridian. But we closed in a town called Mountain Home, which is about 55 miles away, and Jeff came down to the closing in case we had any questions. That was service right there.
The process took two months tops from beginning to end, and that was because of the availability of the seller to close. This is the sixth house that I've purchased, and working with Gateway was probably one of the better experiences I've had. The only detractor I have is that I get an awful lot of mail from them. It could be just me where maybe I did not opt to receive all the notifications electronically instead of paper copies. But if I care enough, I'll research that and get that changed over. Still, I would definitely recommend for people to go through Gateway.

We've done a lot of business with Andrew, our loan officer. He was responsive, professional, courteous and kind. He communicated with us via phone calls, emails, and online notifications. He ran a very good office and we felt extremely comfortable working with him. It took 30 days to finish the application and closing process. I like Gateway because they're not gonna sell my loan and they service their own loans. Plus, their customer service is superior to most lenders I have dealt with and I've been in the mortgage industry for 15 years. I would highly recommend Gateway.

We had a lot of bills. At the time, we were doing some changes with our finances and thinking about buying another house. We decided to apply for a loan and I was gonna refinance with the company that already held our mortgage, but they weren't giving me any information and were sidestepping. I knew that the price was gonna go up. My real estate agent then referred me to Aaron from Gateway Mortgage Group and we decided to get a 30-year fixed loan.
We got to go to Gateway's office and do things in person, which I really liked. There, we sat down with Aaron and got things going. The application was alright and I appreciated how it was set up. However, I didn't like that Aaron asked for a lot of personal information that I felt wasn't necessary. I was a little upset with that, but I was prepared. I took in everything that I had experienced from other refinances that we had done in the past. I was also a little uncomfortable because I didn't know Aaron. But in the end, we conformed and gave him the information. Aaron told me exactly what he was gonna do and I appreciated, respected and was impressed with his honesty. My comfort level then went up a lot.
The closing process, however, took too long, We closed on the 28th and that forced me into making my payment for January. Because of that, instead of having two months for free, I only got one. On March 1st, I have to make my first payment, and it's really putting a bind on me. But we're gonna go ahead, make it, and go from there. I also got a note from Gateway about an insurance policy where they'll make the payments and so forth in case something happens to either my wife or myself, whether it be a disability or whatever. I need that kind of insurance, so I'm gonna give them a call.
Everything worked out right and we paid off all of our bills except for the small ones, which we're working on right now. Our mortgage is a little high but I'm not worried about it. We'll make some other moves and hopefully, we can pay this loan off in 15 years. I wanted the 30-year fixed rate for my comfort level as we have a tight budget. Thus far, I've referred Gateway Mortgage Group to a couple of people. Check them out, you'll be happy.

We wanted to pay off everything and have it into one bill. We own our land now, so we went with an equity loan from Gateway. The online application process was good even though I'm not a computer guy. When I called, the rep called back or she sent me her personal number. If I texted her, she texted back. She was there and she let us know if she needed something, and she was there for us if we needed something. I was very comfortable working with her. There are some places where you worry about giving them all this information, but I've never had that here. Everything I had to ask, they were there to give the answers. Working with them made everything easy 'cause doing stuff like that is like signing your life away all over again. It took less than 30 days to close everything and when we were all done, it didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth.

I needed a bigger house and I took a conventional program from Gateway Mortgage. I was familiar with the loan officer and have used him with my previous house. The online application process was easy and it took about a month. It was quick and easy to submit the documentation. I was quick with getting them the information, so everything ran smoothly.
Prior to the purchase, everything went great. I liked everything up until the point when my wife called and wasn’t able to get her request fulfilled, which was a simple request. I wanted to do a biweekly payment, but because of my work schedule, I wasn't able to call in. I had her call in and she was given the runaround and didn't accomplish getting biweekly payments. That was not nice. She was told that there could be a fee associated with that and there was a lot of gray thrown her way. The answer wasn't a straight no or a straight yes. It was a bunch of hypotheticals and it was creating a lot of confusion that didn't need to be created. As a result, my wife was too scared to make a decision based off of their answers. Still, working with them resulted in getting the house I wanted, which was a positive impact on my life.

Amanda works at Gateway Mortgage and originally she helped me get into my house. I went somewhere else to do the refinance and I wasn't happy with the guy at all. He didn't do anything in my favor. Amanda sent me an email, so I decided to reach out to her again. The process I went through to refinance at Gateway was super fast and super easy. It took about 17 days.
I contacted Amanda and she had her assistant get back with me. Then they sent me everything to send the paperwork in. It impressed me that they worked as a team. If she can't get back with me, someone else gets back to me instantaneously. Even her processor was awesome. They reached out to me for anything that they needed, and kept following up with me, and for me to do the home course that they wanted me to do. They were totally on top of it. My refinance is done, I'm not stressed out, and now I have a loan that's not going to be sold makes me extremely happy. My realtor, Norma, said that Gateway is good and she told me to run through them when I went through her. I went with their conventional loans for the house. Their online application process was fairly easy. The application process took 30 minutes for the documents, but the whole thing took about a month. Everything about the process was straightforward. I worked with their consultant named Alyssa, and whatever she needed, she got ahold of me. She also answered any questions I had very thoroughly. I was very comfortable working with her and she was easy to get ahold of. Gateway Mortgage has a big effect on my life. With them, I own a house now. They are a good mortgage company to go along with it.

I've owned 2 homes and my first home was with CitiMortgage and the home I'm in now is with Gateway. I unfortunately lost my job and fell behind in my payments. We made arrangements but they required me to send checks certified and mail through the post office, FedEx or UPS. Wouldn't it make sense that if I am in a financial crisis that you would work to help me to send my payment the most cost effective way possible? And if I was slightly short with my arrangement they would crucify me. They ultimately told me I was unable to send any more payments unless it was minimum 10k which was my past due. I couldn't come up with this much in 1 month so the only option was for me to apply for modification only for them to deny it and threaten to foreclose on my house.
I begged for an arrangement since I was able to prove my income and the fact that I have a new job. Worst part is waiting for the modification only caused me to be 2 more months behind. I love my home and don't want to lose it but they will go out of their way to take your house from you rather than help you. They also know you can't pay 20k at once but continue to call you to see if you've come any closer to coming up with 20k. This number changes as the months roll by and current month is added to the top. They offered no assistance at all. Go to a bank for a mortgage. Stay away from companies like this. I urge you.

We were trying to get a construction loan for a log home and a bank referenced Gateway. Obtaining the mortgage with Gateway was a long and very detailed process. The application and underwriting process took a couple of months 'cause there were some stuff that the underwriter had suggested for us to do and review. Obtaining my mortgage was difficult compared to what I remember when I got my last home loan, but Gateway made it as easy as they could, due to regulation. They explained that it wasn’t their fault that I had to supply all this crazy paperwork that I didn’t realize I’d have to supply. I didn't have access to the paperwork they were needing, and they allowed me to come in the office after work. My schedule didn’t allow for the typical 9 to 5 business hours, and they ended up staying past their normal closing time. Julie was able to get everything done, with me being as difficult to work with as I was, and they worked their butt off. They did everything they could and we got the paperwork flattened out.

I got a conventional loan for a new home from Gateway which was suggested by my bank. I went in and talked to Jill, and she told me everything I would need and helped me with some things that I might consider doing to raise my credit score between the time that I messed with her and when I got my mortgage. I took forever to buy a house and then once I got my information to her, she said, "Do it. You got it." They're awesome. Working with them allowed me and my children to get a home and feel comfortable about our decisions. Everybody there made it seem like we were their only customers and they were all personally invested, which made it nice 'cause it's a pretty big purchase.

I was buying a house and I started looking at several lenders and then I had to narrow it down to two. The biggest thing was Gateway's Kris' transparency. She was always there to answer questions and she felt honest. So, we went with them. The process of obtaining the mortgage is always a little bit of a pain but Kris was able to do most of it via email. There was only one time that I ever went to her office. And this was new construction, so it kinda dragged out over by eight months.
She made it very easy and she really worked to my time schedule. Also, she had our best interest. She was there to give us different options, look at different avenues, and determine what was the best program for it. There are always things in there that aren't exactly like you want but she was very forthcoming with it. She was 100% above board and transparent. And she always got back the next day. A lot of my correspondence was late at night when I would get home from work but I don't think I ever had a response that was more than 24 hours, so it was very responsive. I was more than happy with her.
The online application process was not what I expected. I've done this before. I'm in the auto industry, so I get a lot of loan applications. Obviously, the mortgage is more complex, but I thought it really was nice to not have to spend time sitting in an office and dragging paperwork in, so it was as simple as they could. With the actual application, I don't think I spent more than a half hour and until we closed it took eight months. The lending process was about what I expected and it went as well as we could. I have and will recommend Kris and Gateway.

I contacted the loan officer and they set up a meeting. She took down some information and we went through different options. Once we were able to go out with the realtor and find something that we liked, we went ahead and started the paperwork. The application and underwriting process took a little over 30 days because our situation was very different and not an easy one. I was thankful that they were very patient and worked with us. They helped us all around and guided us as to the documents that we needed. The interaction with the customer service team was good as well as the communication.
I worked with Joan and I was impressed with her willingness to go above and beyond. She had other things going on but she always took the time to answer my calls. I worked with the person from Gateway that I went through on the home that I was buying. The process was fast. It was during Christmas, so the person and I worked really well together to get through really quickly. This is our third home and we went with the 30-year program with Gateway Mortgage Group. I got asked a million questions but that's normal with every house you buy. The underwriting didn't take as bad I thought it was gonna be. But we had to repeat ourselves multiple times to the lady who was sending us questions, and then she wanted us to go to the bank and highlight some stuff. We already did that but we had to go back to the bank again and we did the same and sent it to her again. That should've been on her record already. She also took a little while to respond back to our emails when we were going through the process. She wanted us to send things to her ASAP. But working with her was all right.
Also, we heard that Gateway doesn't sell out their company to other mortgages where it changes constantly. For the last couple of homes we've had, we've been through six different lenders. But with Gateway Mortgage, it's constant. I'd rather stay with one person instead of going back and forth with different companies 24/7.

I was in the process of going with another lender but there had been some previous issues with that lender. While talking to one of the Realtors at the time, the actual lender for Gateway happened to be in a different car. He asked if we could take a look at it and my Realtor said he would rather I did that. Ever since, it kinda went downhill with the other company. They had some issues with the pre-approval people. Then, we ended up going with Gateway. My lender's name was Chad and he was very competent and very transparent with everything. Working with Gateway made one of the most stressful times of my life manageable. At thetime, we were getting kicked out of our house because of the hurricane and I could not find any rentals available. So, we decided to buy a home. Our realtor, Madison, worked with Elizabeth from Gateway before and she said that Elizabeth was the greatest at explaining things and getting things done within a timely manner. I liked the sound of that, so I called Elizabeth after Madison gave me her phone number.
She explained to me how it works because I was new to the market. I have a power of attorney for my husband and he’s the one that works more than I do, so we put the loan through his name. Elizabeth told me to give her all the documents she needed then I uploaded them all. I also signed the ones in person that she needed me to and faxed those over. Long story short, after about a month, we got all the documents done and approved, got the house picked out, and put down an offer.
Gateway's application process was very simple and very convenient. I loved it. The lending process also went a lot better than I expected and my interactions with Gateway's customer service reps were all pretty straightforward. They answer all the questions that I had and were always available. In fact, Elizabeth was able to work with me through all my questions, problems, and concerns. Plus, she was very prompt with the application and the approvement process. Gateway's online payment schedule as well as their client portal are great as well.

I was looking for a house and when I was doing my search for home loans, a guy named Blair from Gateway contacted me. I called him and he said that he does a lot of work with veterans and VA loans so I went with him. Getting the mortgage was easy and straightforward. I talked to Blair, finally found a house, and we closed not even in a month. The application process took a couple of days, but the underwriting took a little while because I didn't have all my stuff lined up.
I was very comfortable working with Blair. He was right there with me trying to help me get everything done as soon as possible. He was very knowledgeable. He had an answer for any concerns I had. All I had to do was either email or text him and he'd answer them and do what he could do. Everything happened quickly. I finally have a home that I can afford. It was a lot less strenuous than I thought it was gonna be. If you're trying to get a mortgage, Gateway would be the best bet.

We purchased a new home and got our mortgage through Gateway. Their online application was simple and then the whole process happened really fast. We had gone through the pre-approval process, then from the time we made our offer to the time we closed, it took us about 29 days. It was all electronic, which made it a lot easier, me not having to run around. Plus, our mortgage guy, Trever, was fantastic.
Trever was very hands-on, and he didn't pass me off to somebody else when I had a question. He had given me his cellphone number. So if I had a text in the middle of the day with a question, he was answering me back. I am an impatient person and I don't like to wait for answers, and I didn't have to wait so that's good. It's that kind of personal touch that is very important. We lose that in this life and everybody's faithless now. But it didn't feel faithless because he was there for me. This team at Gateway did what no one else has done for me. From notification I was purchasing to completion took roughly 3 weeks and mind you this was during the Christmas time frame. I had briefings every other day if not every day to keep me on top of everything going on. No other bank I have worked with and there have been a few, has come anywhere close to this kind of service. The rates were very competitive and the service was second to none. They will always be my first call and as long as nothing changes, my last. Decent experience with rates above other competitors. We closed this loan even though we found lower rates because we were halfway through the process and did not want to delay our progress. We have 2 more homes to refi in the next 60 days and will give Gateway a chance to compete for them but whoever can complete the loan for the best price will get the deal.

I had used Gateway in the past and was very happy with them. I have referred quite a few people to my mortgage guy, Michael. He is just johnny-on-the-spot. He was very efficient and very reliable. I used them again recently and the rep who helped me was perfect. I wanted to buy a new house and went with a 30-year program loan from Gateway Mortgage. They asked for my bank statement and checked my background and how much I wanted to deposit. I also gave my Social Security number and my ID, then I got approved within a week. The customer service people were professional. Jimmy helped me out a lot and did all the paperwork really fast. Michelle was professional and nice, and the way she did things was also extremely fast. In the future, if I buy a new house, I will definitely go and ask for them again.

Gateway Mortgage was helpful when I got a home loan for a new home purchase. Their rate was the best I could find and their application process went great. Everybody was there to help me through every step. Their people were very kind and answered any of my questions. It took about four weeks from the time I submitted the application to the closing process. I would use Gateway again and I would even tell people to go there too.

I needed to get a house for a family. I looked into getting a mortgage and I ended up with Gateway as they're local. The lending process was great and the application and underwriting processes took a couple of days. Gateway made applying very easy - I worked with Jeannette and Douglas and Jeanette explained everything to me really well and showed me what I was getting into. Everything was also explained while I was going through the process and that made feel comfortable. Gateway was there every step of the way.

I was living in a rental home that was 100 years old and it didn't have any central heating or air, so I couldn't take it anymore. My realtor suggested Gateway and I went with them. Their application process was very difficult, but it was because of me, not because of them. My debt-to-income ratio was not what it needed to be. But despite that, they managed to get me approved, and that was what I wanted. We were trying to get the debt-to-income ratio straightened out, so the closing process took about a month. Sherry, the rep who worked with me, was awesome and I was impressed with her.

I didn't wanna deplete my money that I got so, I thought it was easier to get a mortgage, and then that's the way I went. The realtor recommended Gateway. I had a great experience with Gateway. It was just hard because I'm in Arizona and I don't do well over the computer and it was frustrating for me to print everything off. But if I had been computer-savvy, it would have been easier. Also, if I had been there, it would have been a breeze. I also proved I had the money but they wanted so much information. I'm retired so it's a different thing. They wanted so many statements, your banking, the income tax from two years. And the thing that bothered me, I was hesitant of putting it on the computer that type of thing because I hear so much about computer theft. But they were great. At the time I was stressed about it because of not knowing putting stuff out there, the people I talked with were helpful and they were good.

My contract was sold to Gateway and when I started my payments they were a little over $100 cheaper. I called and asked why my payments were cheaper. They told me that they were giving me a better deal. I called and asked again why the difference and I got the same story. At the beginning of year two I was told I had not been paying enough so they were having to make my mortgage payment larger. I was a single mother on a very fixed income. I struggled with making the payments but made them. Fast forward to 2016 I ended up unemployed and tried like hell to get them to work with me on making a hardship package. They denied me every time. I was finally able to get a job but not before filing bankruptcy to keep my home.
I have paid over $26,000 to bankruptcy court. Other than attorney fees the money goes to Gateway yet I am magically still behind. My bankruptcy payment started out at around $1000. It is now at $1500 EVERY month because they keep adding fees to my case. I am now facing dismissal of bankruptcy because I CANNOT afford $1500 payments every month. I have been trying for two months now to do another hardship package and somehow they never get my emails until I email them multiple times then they ask why I emailed them so much.
They would not tell me what documentation I needed to send because it was considered coaching. I am once again having to send more documentation. I am so done with this crappy company. I'm to the point of letting my home go just to get out from under them. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM, THEY ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO SCREW YOU OVER with fees or changes with your mortgage payment amounts. This has been pure hell!!

After my mortgage was transferred to Gateway, they changed the terms of my contract so that they use any extra money I pay on my principal to earn interest for the company while denying me the right to pay my mortgage down faster! I would have thought that was illegal, but apparently not. Stitt is running for governor...

Our issues started when we were supplying the original documents Gateway needed. We would email them documents and they said they never got them and would have to send them 3-4 times. Once the loan was established and we started making payments the 1st 3-4 went through ok, then we had to stop a check through the bank because it went to the wrong P.O. Box that they gave me.
Then we started getting charged for insufficient funds charges and returned check charges and got the bank involved because the funds were available and only 1 payment had been stopped and it was immediately re-issued to Gateway. I am still trying to get those charges dropped. When calling in it to talk to someone you're always on hold or they drop your call when it gets time to talk with a manager who can do something. Gateway MORTGAGE is the WORST Company we've ever dealt with.

I have been trying to get my home reappraised to take the PMI off of my loan. Pretty simple right? After multiple calls and conversations I was quoted $325 & $425 for the reappraisal fee, either fee is fine just get it correct. Second I called to start the reappraisal process and the representative then says "ok I'm ready for the account and routing number when you are." I ask "do you not accept and credit or debit card for the payment fee?" "No sir we do not." "Can I go online and pay the fee?" "Let me check."
After about 10 minutes of waiting "you can make the payment online through your online portal with a debit card, however when you make that payment you need to be on the phone with a representative so that we can submit a ticket and ensure the payment is credited for the right item." WHAT A JOKE!! I told the rep at that time "they don't make it easy do they?" He agreed. PMI is a joke to begin with and I'm trying to get rid of it as my home will appraise for well over the required amount needed to remove it. My complaint is really the fact that of all the calls prior to understand what is required no one ever said you can only pay the appraisal fee with an account and routing number over the phone or a debit card online with a rep on the phone. WHAT A JOKE!!! If you have the option do not do business with this company. They have been nothing but a headache from day one!!!

Addition principal not posted to mortgage balance. They posted it unapplied. Having to phone Gateway custom care every other months and monthly about check not posted. I wish they would sell my loan. I sick and tired of Gateway. I pay auto draft on mortgage monthly. No problem there. Problem when I mailed check addition amount to mortgage balance. I wouldn't recommend if you can help it. I would never recommend assuming an existing loan. It took 4 months and Ron ** was assigned the account and would not return emails and had a full voicemail and would not answer phone calls so we were stuck wondering how it was progressing. I was told sent to underwriters a month before I was. Now it finally closed and got email I still owe debt and late charge because they have not completed paperwork to change name on loan. Never ever use Gateway for assumption process.

This company cost me $800! And no house. When you go to get pre-approved for a mortgage, you generally get something that says you are good for this much funding to buy. So you then go looking. We never got anything from Gateway other than a verbal good for around 80k. So on that we (I and my Realtor) went looking. All the while sending documents and other information as requested to Gateway so they can process loan paperwork... "Yes; you are good to go Mr **..." Got that a lot of times. We found a house. Put earnest money on it and paid to have it inspected. We're set to target closing date. Get calls back from Gateway saying that they could not get our application through Underwriting. This was supposed to be done already. Liars, Deceptive practices. I would recommend NOT doing business with these people and find someone who does not have this history. Apparently they do this a lot.

Worst experience I've ever had, I pay my mortgage to only have them to tell me they didn't receive it. When I send them proof they say they will investigate it and then tell me I'm behind so I started a year ago sending payment with certified check and certified mail. Been paying over $5000 a month to "get caught up" because they still can't find my payments that I showed bank statement proof. I finally get "caught up" and now they started sending my payments back and telling me I'm behind, well I guess so if you don't accept my payment then I guess I would be never had an experience so difficult to make payments on.

I've never experienced a company that makes it so difficult to give them money, and when you can get logged in you'll be charged a service fee to make your payment. I think these folks are a bunch a crooks. I didn't choose this lender as my original lender sold my mortgage to them. I'm hoping Gateway sells this note or I sell my house to get away from them.

I have tried unsuccessfully for three days to log onto the Gateway system. I keep getting an error message that just says "try again" with no clue of what is incorrect. I finally called customer service today and after waiting on hold for 10 minutes while one recorded message interrupted another almost constantly spoke with a customer service representative. She said the system had been changed on March 20 and I needed to register again. I did that and got the same message. I shortened and weakened the password I wanted to use because the Gateway system does not allow any special character. I tried four times while I was on the phone with the woman.
I asked if there was someone I could talk to for technical support. The answer was "no". Gateway claims to "win customers for life". I regret the day I took out my mortgage with them 3 years ago -- the example today is just one more in a string -- a long string -- of examples of the reality that all Gateway cares about is Gateway and their customer service does not serve the customer. If it did not mean thousands of dollars in closing costs I would change mortgage lenders in a heartbeat. If you have not signed up with them yet my advise is to RUN as fast as you can to some other lender.

I have asked them and asked them to stop bothering me... Random phone calls to "check in". They even felt it necessary to send me a birth announcement when the local manager had a kid. They arbitrarily raised my escrow only to adjust it back and the whole loan process was a real pain. You will be much better served by ANYONE else.

I bought a home for me, my new wife, and son to move into after our marriage. We used Gateway because our realtor referred us to them. Hindsight being 20/20 we should have shopped around. It would have saved us money, or put us in a much nicer home. Gateway pressured us into closing so that we wouldn't shop around and discover that we could have gotten a lower rate. We bought the home 6 months ago, and for a monthly payment at the top side of our budget. We just received the statement for our taxes and discovered that our house payment is going up $350 a month! Taxes are going up $150 and escrow is going up $200. Their miscalculations may very well put me and my family out of our home.
We have to decide whether we are going to allow our house payment to go up to $1400 a month, which we cannot afford, or we can use the money we have been saving to send our son to a private school to pay off the escrow in full and still have our monthly payment go up $150 a month. Refinancing is not an option because we don't have the $4000 required for closing costs. Mind you, this isn't a nice home. It is in a bad part of town, and is over 70 years old. If we could have afforded a $1400 a month house payment, we certainly would have got a house in a much nicer part of town. We are extremely dissatisfied with Gateway and would discourage anyone from doing business with them.

My wife and I used Gateway Mortgage for our home loan at the recommendation of our realtor. The Gateway team worked fast and hard for the majority of the process, but made a critical mistake at the end of the process that was very costly to our family. From the earliest moments in the home buying process, Gateway Mortgage set our closing date for Friday, August 11th, which was reflected on all documentation sent by and to Gateway Mortgage Company. On August 9, my realtor called me to inform me that the closing date had been postponed, and that we would not be closing for another 4 days. According to the contract and terms, this was an acceptable move by Gateway Mortgage and they were well within their legal right to do this. While this move was personally annoying, it was not illegal.
However, at the closing, Gateway Mortgage representative Chris ** informed us that his mortgage group had known about the need to move the closing date as early as August 4th. Further, my wife received a voicemail from Gateway Mortgage representative Josh ** on August 8th saying that we were "looking good" to close on schedule. Obviously, this seems like a curious thing to say when the mortgage company was well aware that the closing was being shifted to the following week. By waiting until August 9th - just 36 hours before I was set to move across the country - to inform me that the closing date had been moved, the following financial consequences occurred:
1) My wife and I had no place to live between August 11th and the new closing date of August 15th, as tenants had been lined up to move into our house on August 11th. As a result, my wife and I had to stay at an AirBNB for 4 nights. We incurred a cost of $581.82 for this.2) Our moving truck was scheduled to be picked up on August 9th. By the time I found out our closing date had been moved, it was too late to cancel the truck. If I had been told about the closing date being moved when Gateway Mortgage had been made aware, then I could have postponed the rental. Instead of the 3-day rental as planned, I needed the truck for 7 days. The cost of this was $517.22.
3) One of our movers had to cancel a longstanding flight and re-schedule a new flight. Instead of a one-way advance ticket of $80.60, he had to pay a round-trip ticket costing $674.40. The difference between these two tickets is $593.80. The kicker to all of this was when we were asked by Mr. ** at our closing, "do you feel everything went smoothly?" I remember asking him, "are you serious?" And he seemed shocked that I would say my experience with Gateway was a negative one. Gateway Mortgage cost us $1692.84 all because they did not pick up the phone on Friday, August 4th to inform us that our closing date had been moved. Instead, they waited 5 full days to inform me that the closing date had to be moved. They left my wife and I essentially homeless: All of our belongings stuffed into a truck and living at an AirBnB.
Gateway never seemed to even appreciate the unnecessary anxiety they put on me and my family. I contacted Gateway's customer service team asking for partial reimbursement of the financial losses their miscommunication caused, and they refused to even consider giving us a cent because it was against "Gateway policy" because they were not directly responsible for the closing date being moved.
I would never recommend Gateway to anyone. It is true that they were not directly responsible for moving the closing date, but they were directly responsible for failing to inform me that the date had been moved when they became aware of it, and they were directly responsible for calling us literally 3 days before the original closing date and telling us that we were ready to close on time, even though they knew full well that the date had been moved already. At the time of our house hunting, they had the best rates, but those rates are meaningless now that they cost us nearly $1700 and tons of stress.

Gateway approved us 2 different times for loans and they were kicked out in underwriting after we paid $10,000 in earnest money fees, appraisals, and surveys. Our situation was unique and hard to work with due to a recent career change. Gateway was overconfident that they could deliver. The reasons for our denial were understandable due to the career change but it was basic information that we had provided and discussed various times over the course of 5 months. It could have and should have been avoided. Our file should not have made it past the first phone call. It does not take underwriting to figure that out. They got greedy and tried pushing not one but two loans through and gave us advice that led to a loss of $10000. We are seasoned home buyers and our only reason for using Gateway was because we were referred to them.
After I submitted our first formal complaint to address the situation, I lost access to the secure email server that I had corresponded with Gateway on. I asked for access to the emails multiple times and their first response was "IT failure." The next response was that Gateway concluded their investigation and would not allow me access to the emails because it was confidential to their server. I asked for email access to verify the accuracy in facts regarding my complaint and their response. They finally sent me a check for $425 to make up for the $10k loss. That was pretty much a slap in the face. We never expected a full refund but did expect Gateway to act in their customers’ best interest.
On a personal note, both loan officers were extremely arrogant and rude. One of them worked harder and was significantly nicer and more professional than the other. Both our realtor and contractor refused to work with the loan officers due to their degrading language, lack of response, and unprofessionalism. We had lunch with one of the loan officers one day that was extremely disrespectful to the waitress. He also felt the need to talk badly about his wife to me during phone calls on a consistent basis. If I could give zero stars, I would. We have worked with multiple lenders in the past and never had a single issue. I am blown away that they can sleep at night after our experience.

I applied for a Mortgage with Gateway Mortgage in May of 2017. I did exactly what they asked me to do...bring in paperwork, pay down credit cards and pay other bills off. The appraisal was done in September. Clarke at Gateway Mortgage calls me on October 24, 2017 and says that our car notes are too high and I needed to refinance my car. I told him I financed it at 4% when I bought the car last year. So I called State Farm and tried to refinance my vehicle. They approved it at the same interest rate. Clarke at Gateway Mortgage has not returned my calls. He’s very unprofessional and this company is a broke joke. They have wasted six months of our time!!! Don’t go to Gateway Mortgage...you will waste your time!!!

My husband and I purchased our first home recently. We work on the road but Tennessee is our "home". Our realtor suggested using Gateway so we decided to switch mortgage companies. Luke ** said he could have a faster turnaround with better rates. After a month of having all our information everyone was ready to move forward to closing. We scheduled time off for the closing. I asked Luke if he needed anything else for closing, he replied no. That following week we found out Luke never received a VOE from one of our companies we worked for, and it pushed our closing to a different week derailing all plans. We never heard from Luke after that. We did not know that when we closed, they expected to do a wire transfer. Our bank did not have a branch in Tennessee. We had to drive 3 and a half hours into Kentucky to complete our end of the closing, then drive back. We had just drove 641 miles to Tennessee from PA.
This could have been avoided if we had a heads up before. We could have started the wire before driving down and finished everything over the phone! We are so thrilled with our home, but Luke was unorganized and unprofessional. He took so much joy out of this experience, such a disappointment. If we could have, I would have went with someone different!

A couple of days ago I got a letter from Gateway saying that my insurance on the property I have mortgaged with them was expired and that they would take action to force me to use their internal mortgage insurance plan unless I did something immediately. I called my non-Gateway homeowner's insurance company and found that the insurance had expired on September 12 and that the new policy became in force on September 13. I asked how much insurance the policy provided and what the annual premium was. They provided the information. I next went to the Gateway letter and found that they wanted to provide me with $60,000 less insurance and charge me $600 per year more than my current carrier. What a deal! NOT.
I have had my Gateway mortgage for a little over 2 years and hated it almost from the first day. Their tag-line when you call in is "We win customers for life". The only way they will have me as a customer for life is if I suddenly drop dead! If the closing costs for switching to another mortgage company would not wipe out everything I have paid to Gateway I would switch in a heartbeat. Caveat emptor - Gateway sucks.

Gateway is trying to tell me how and when to make my payments; it's now policy that it's FREE to pay online when recurring payment is set-up, but now if you want to pay from your checking account when you want, you have to pay a service charge. I didn't get a chance to choose Gateway Mortgage Group because the loan was sold. I don't want them to make any more money off of me if they are going to treat us like **. Maybe it is time to refinance the loan just to get rid of them? Seriously squeezing money out of us as much they can, as if the hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest isn't enough. We have to pay, to pay.
